Dolphins Persuasive
Why Should We Save the Dolphins? Final Draft
By: Emily Chang
Class: 6(2)
Subject: English
Teacher: Mr. Kris(Smith)
Imagine you are a dolphin swimming happily in the ocean with the other dolphins. Suddenly, you
hear something terrible, and that makes you feel extremely uncomfortable. You swim towards
somewhere safe to get away from that terrible sound. However, when you get in, you realize it is
a trap! You have been caught! You might be sent to an aquarium or killed to be made into sushi.
This unfortunate fate is not a dream, but it is a sad reality for hundreds of thousands of innocent
dolphins. They are endangered of becoming extinct and their main predators are us, humans. Our
society needs to do something to preserve and protect our precious dolphins. Dolphins should be
saved because they are an endangered species, it is cruel to kill such intelligent animals and they are
not even safe to eat.
Dolphins: An Endangered Species There are many kinds of dolphins in the world. The most
common one that we see in theme parks, aquariums and movies is the Bottlenose Dolphin.
Fortunately for us, this is one of the few species of dolphins that are not yet endangered. However,
there are many other different species of dolphins that are endangered. For example, the Baiji

It was thought that there were only around 13 Baiji Dolphins left in the world, and there was even
an organization that was made to help save them. The organization had a website, but it no longer
exists so that makes the situation for these incredible creatures hopeless. It is likely that they are in
fact extinct. This is a sad situation because we could have and should have prevented this. If we do
not save the dolphins, the path to extinct might be quicker. Therefore, we must help save the
dolphins to ensure their population continues to

Predation Cost of Conspicuous Male Coloration in Collard...
Introduction Animal coloration is due to pigmentation found in the skin, feathers, and fur. Pigments
are chemical substances produced in animals, which are accountable for coloration in living
things. Pigments absorb some wavelengths of light and reflect specific wavelengths of visible
light. The visible light that is reflected is what is seen (Biological Pigments 2010).
Chromatophores are also important. These are pigment containing cells that are in the deep layers
of the skin in animals. Chromatophores can be identified as melanophores (black), erythrophores
(red), xanthophores (yellow), or lecophores (white) based on the colorof the pigments. The dispersal
of these cells and the pigments and their orientation determine the color... Show more content on

Population level studies have helped to explain the constraints that natural selection has on
conspicuous coloration. For example, populations of chuckwallas (Sauromalus obesus) that
suffered greater rates of predation were more drably colored than those who did not (Kwiatkowski
2003). Even though there is an abundance of evidence that sexual selection and species
recognition favor conspicuous coloration, there is little experiential evidence that depict more
conspicuous organisms suffer greater predation (Grant 1965; Williams 1977; Andersson 1994;
Houde 1997). A limitation of support for a relationship between conspicuousness and predation
risk is the way conspicuous colors are categorized. Studies show that the visual systems of
different species of animals vary significantly from humans; so what colors seem conspicuous to
humans, may not be conspicuous to a predator (Fleishman et al. 1993; Cuthill et. al 2000; Hart
2001b; Marshall 2001). Although it is highly assumed that males are more likely to be preyed
upon more frequently than females because of their conspicuous coloration, evidence for this is
inconsistent (Andersson 1994; Zuk and Kolluru 1998). A study done on guppies (Poecilia
reticulate) revealed that the conspicuous males were attacked equal to or less than the dull females
(Pocklington and Dill 1995). Another study that was performed on rock dragons showed that the
more conspicuous males were preyed upon

Lymphangiomas
Lymphangiomas Recently physicians at Lucile Packard Children s Hospital at Stanford found a
potential treatment to Lymphangiomas. Lymphangiomas is the overgrowth of the lymph channels,
which can cause airway constriction, and other aspects to the heart and lung function. The
lymphatic systems function is to filter out pathogens in the blood. Vessels of the lymphatics are a
one way system allowing fluids to come in but not to flow out. The issue lies in when these
lymph vessels swell or begin to back up. In the case of lymphangiomas, these channels swell and
get abnormally large. At Stanford, a common drug used for erectile dysfunction called sildenafil
has been found to treat symptoms of lymphangiomas. The topic that is now up for debate is that
if the use of sildenafil or commonly known Viagra should be used as a treatment for
lymphangiomas in children and infants. The aftermath of using sildenafil has many effects that
can be consider positive. Sildenafil has and is being used to treat erectile dysfunction, which is
due to not enough blood, pumped to the penis or there being a blockage in blood being pumped to
the penis. Sildenafil is also being used to treat high blood pressure in the lung. By looking at this
information, individuals can see that sildenafil has the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to such low numbers of people who has used this drug as treatment, the medical field cannot
agree yet that this is truly effective treatment. When comes to use of Sildenafil physicians has
found that it comes with a few side effects. Nausea, Headaches, Runny nose, and Fever are all
side effects of this drug. Even though Sildenafil could be treatment lymphangiomas, physicians
need to look at the long term of effect of using this drug. In treating one problem have we created

History Channels Alone: What Survival Items Were On the List? What Would You Choose?
The contestants on the History Channel s show Alone were allowed to choose 10 items form a
supposed secret list of 40 items. What isn t a secret however, were banned items such as
matches, lighters, and water filter and purification systems. Firearms were not allowed of course,
and apparently the metal pot size could not exceed 2Quarts. The maximum amount of Paracord
/cordage was 20 meters (66 feet), and they were only allowed five pounds of emergency rations
if they chose to carry rations. The contestants could also carry a Gillnet but the size was restricted
to 6 meters (19 feet). What Gear Made It to the Woods? First, call it coincidence, fate, a mistake, or

Items not counted as part of the 10 allowed were bear spray, a pack, and an emergency flare
(History Channel, 2015). When you get to choose what to carry, but are limited on what you can
carry, you have to pick wisely. Shelter, fire, water, and food are your priorities. When you can
carry a shelter with you, you probably should, because it can save time and energy, both of
which are always in short supply in the wilds. You can add forest debris to harden the shelter,
but having a tarp on hand means you have a quick shelter for that first night that can be
improved upon with your time. Fire starting materials are important, as well as a metal pot to
boil water in and to prepared food with. A sleeping bag for cold weather, while heavy to carry
would be considered an essential item in cold weather, if you had the choice. A Bivy bag may not
be essential because the contestants could have chosen a ground cloth, or extra tarp that could act
as a cover and the tarp/ground cloth would have multiples uses. A sharpening stone is a good idea,

Ellen Collects The Art of the Police Report complements Lera Boroditsky article on How does
language shape the way we think by supporting the proposition constructed in her piece. Boroditsky

Speaking on behalf of Collett s thesis, throughout his article, his writing affirms Boroditsky premise

Learning to report as a cop can be viewed as its own language, with its distinct set of norms and
expectations. In order for an individual to master a language, they must first grasp the ordinates
associated with it. Collets vindicate that as a cop crime reports are written in neutral diction, and in
the dispassionate uni voice that s testament to the academy s ability to standardize writing. They
feel generated rather than authored, the work of a single law enforcement consciousness rather than
a specific human being. The ability to detach opinion and bias is crucial in reporting. Only through
practice, is one competent to perform this reporting effectively. In the cop department you will have
officers who enjoy writing reports, carefully documenting their activities, and painting word
pictures of the events by adding their own distinctive style and trademark, as well as having the
officers who don t particularly enjoy writing reports and it is evident on the pages they complete.
The written reports include missing or incomplete information and poor interviewing/investigation
procedures. What those officers who turn in low quality reports fail to recognize is that they are
doing more harm than they perceive. Although a scenario may seem mundane, the report that is

Information Literacy
Information literacy is very important in today s world. Information literacy means that a person
has the ability to understand when the information is necessary and that the person is able to find
and then use that information. To be information literate, a person must be able to do the following:
Assess how much information is needed, find that information, assess the information and make
sure that its sources are reliable, use that information as intended, and make sure that the
information is not used in a way that s unethically or illegal. Information literacyis used very often
in one s everyday life. For example, information literacyis very important in the nursing field.

Payment System And The System Essay
According to Borio and van den Bergh (1993:8), a payment system may be defined as the set of
arrangements for the discharge of the obligations assumed by economic agents whenever they
acquire real or financial resources. The history of payment systems has been driven by the pressure
to facilitate the execution of transactions. Although payments systems differ considerably from
country to country, the major participants, as well as the key features of the settlement media and
mechanisms, are quite similar. In line with Borio and van den Bergh on the evolution of payments
systems (1993:8), Bhiri, Vhimisai and Bayai (2014:412) stated that payments systems have evolved
over the years in tandem with the quantum leap in the volume and value of the payment system
transactions. The researcher sought to analyse the reasons why there were payment transaction
failures due to the systems being used by the financial institution where the researcher is employed.
Oliveira and Martins (2011:110) stated that IT is universally regarded as an essential tool in
enhancing the competitiveness of the economy of a country. It is commonly accepted today that IT
has significant effects on the productivity of firms. Oliveira and Martins (2011:10) further
explained that it is crucial to understand the determinants of IT adoption and the theoretical models
that are raised when addressing IT adoption. In their study, Oliveira and Martins (2011:110)
revealed that they reviewed two prominent models:

It s Time for a Supranational Sustainable Development Authority
The ingenuity of man that lead to the unprecedented global development of the twentieth century
would certainly not have been possible without the earth s rich natural resources. In this century,
Earth has endured a population explosion, yet still has the agricultural capacity to nourish a global
population of over six million people. At the same time, the quality of life in industrialized nations
is perceived to have risen in tandem with the availability and affordability of mass produced
consumer products made possible by the resourceful use of raw materials and energy. Many trumpet

Then, I will evaluate various perspectives on attaining sustainable development. Lastly, I will argue
in support of two paradigm shifts necessary for serious implementation of public policy initiatives
aimed at its promotion.
An Introduction to Sustainable Development
In 1980 and again in 1992, Presidents Jimmy Carter and George Bush faced rough economic times
and partially blamed environmental policy. Both presidents men that had campaigned as
environmentalists scaled back environmental regulation in hopes of stimulating the economy and
their re election campaigns (Krupp). The men failed on both accounts, and compromised
environmental protection for supposed economic benefits.
Evidence suggests that the environment need not be pitted against economic well being as Bush,
Carter, and many others have done; sustainable development is the key to ensuring well being of
today s citizens as well as future generations.
A 1996 essay by British Member of Parliament Chris Smith analyzed many of the jobs versus
environment claims made by opponents of environmental regulation. Chris Smith states that lost
jobs often attributed to environmental legislation would often have soon been eliminated anyway;
in many cases, environmental policy serves as a convenient scapegoat. He cites incidents in which
jobs are actually created by enactment of environmentally friendly public policy. For example, a

It started on a Monday. Monday is the day when everyone is at their worst, especially Gwen
Harris. She was furious. Her favorite food in the whole world, tater tots, were discontinued at
the school cafeteria, and she was left with soggy salad. Her friend had left early for a doctor s
appointment, and she had no one else to talk to. That day was the Monday of all Mondays. So
on that very day, the universe decided to send Gwen a challenge. As Gwen was walking home
from school, a woman walked by her wearing an extravagant hat. Colors popped out, with bright
shades of yellow, orange, pink, purple, and even brown. There were feathers and colored cotton
balls sticking on every face of the hat, and polka dot ribbon was lining the hats edge. Gwen s...

She finally realized what being optimistic meant. Dylan was so happy, so at ease because she
never criticized people or lashed out at them. She was forgiving and kind. Gwen knew what she
had to do. She ran around school, stopping to make compliments to everyone at her school, and
the bees started to disappear. You look beautiful today. POOF. What a pretty dress. POOF. She
complimented strangers on the sidewalk, greeting people with smiles, and stopping to give
money to the homeless. Everywhere she spread happiness. When she arrived at her house, she
looked in the mirror in the hallway. The bees disappeared, but in their place, were beautiful
butterflies, with bright colors and entrancing patterns on their wings. Gwen was given a brand
new perspective on life. The next day, everywhere she went, positive features seemed to glow.
She didn t have to force compliments anymore, they just came naturally. At lunch, she walked out
of the cafeteria and headed towards the table that she usually sits at. As she walked, people
greeted her with smiles. But the one difference that seemed to show the most, was that she was
able to see other people s bees and butterflies. Some people had bees, some people had butterflies,
and some even had both, and when she looked across the quad, she saw Dylan, with the largest

Human, who is impossible to be perfect, have some traits, qualities and identities that they dislike.
In most cases, while butcher their name, get nose surgery and erase symbol of original ethnicity,
people cover what they prefer not to have. As technology become more and more important in the
way of people communicate with each other, people can escape from cruel reality and be the
protagonists in this virtual and controllable world, whereas it also performs as the hurdle of
communication with the real world and decreases the importance of authenticity. In Sherry Turkle s

Authenticity becomes less important because people in order to be the central of the lives, they try
hard to fit in, assimilate please the supremacy by covering their true reaction and identity. In the

people covered willingly. I suspect they were all bowing to an unjust reality that required them to
tone down their stigmatize identities to get along in life . (Yoshino 309) Human identity is
important for its authenticity of showing one s true part.

technology provides people way to achieve this expectation. While helps people create distances

how I view it marriage should be something as a last resort for adults. Reason being people should
experience their life first beforehand, gained knowledge and skills that will help them out in a long

further into adulthood. This was the problem I had with my sister getting married back in May. I

Employee Engagement and Organizational Success
Leaders also try to achieve the same quality for their own status, which allows them to pursue
greater strength, achieve personal goals and future endeavours. According to a recent study
conducted by Psychometrics Canada a pioneer in research assessment, has mentioned in one of its
report that employee engagement in the organisation plays a major role in the success of any
organisation. Accordingly it says that the best way to increase the relation is by working out a
strategy that builds positive environment and culture relations between the workers and ensuring a
good leader to fit for the purpose. Leaders in the organisation can try to achieve a better employee
engagement by listening to followers opinions, communicating his vision with a clarity, providing
and developing strategies and solution for the success, and finally recognising the ability of the
followers and praising their contributions. Thisaspect of leadershipis displayed by general
feedback, generating ideas and possess enthusiastic in requesting for help (Bradley P. Owens,

Selecting a Student
I selected my student from one of my students that I viewed to have some of the worst behavior

student population comes from subsidized housing (the projects). I am in a first grade class of

technique I will record how many words he gets wrong with the tally marks on the form same as I

Developing an Intervention
The intervention I selected was Chart Moves. The way that I implemented this particular
intervention with the student is by writing his name on the poster in which I supplied. Every time
the student performed the desired behavior, which was reading fluently within two minutes and
answering post questions he would move up half a notch. With the chart, Ja Von would have the
opportunity to earn different reinforcement such as things that he was interested in or things that
he liked. I became aware of the things that he was interested in during the observation phase and
before I introduced him to the intervention, I asked him to make a list of the 10 things that he
enjoyed doing or things that he liked in general. The list included but were not limited too
cookies, candy and action figures. This gave me the opportunity to use the reinforcers as ways to
increase the desired behavior and decrease the inappropriate one. After the intervention was
introduced, it was explained to the student how it would work. Moreover, the way the system was

Persuasive Essay On Acne
Your skin is your friend, and you should love your skin no matter what color it is. Your skin
likes you. As a matter of fact, it protects you from the elements and literally keeps you together.
You, in turn, do your best to protect it from any kind of damage. Then, one day, acne rears its
ugly head, and you suddenly no longer love your skin. What do you do then? Turn to harsh
chemicals, and overpriced scrubs? That s a great way to thank a friend who s been there for you
since day one. Your epidermis isn t at fault here since it can t help that your hormones are causing
all that extra sebum to clog up your pores, or the fact that bacteria is running rampant. This is what
causes pores to become blocked with bacteria, which causes inflammationand redness.
If your skin could talk, what would it say? It would probably say something along the lines of
patience, grasshopper. Treat me right and I shall repay you in kind.
That s just a guess, anyways. The point is, natural acne remedies are a good way to get rid of it,
or at least hold it at bay. They make you step back and really figure out what s going on with
your skin, and how to work with it. Chances are, your skin will repay you in kind for not simply
ravaging it with strange chemicals and your wallet will probably thank you too.

External Factors Of Academic Resilience
ACADEMIC RESILIENCE
Academic Resilience is the capacity to achieve good academic achievements despite the adversity
experienced. There could be several circumstances that create a situation where an individual can
become a school dropout, low achiever and a persistently de motivated student. Academic resilience
is the extra ordinary capacity that helps the student to rise above all these adverse conditions and
perform academically well and to be in motivated state, for academic achievement (Alva, 1991, p.
19). In school going children, academic achievement is an important indicator of academic

Analysis Of The Movie The Snow Queen
My daughter and I went to the play The Snow Queen at the Marquis Theater in Northville,
Michigan on December 10, 2016. The Marquis Theater is a beautifully restored historic landmark.
Upon entering, you are transported back to an earlier time. The lobby features the original french
doors, the stained glass windows, and the old fashioned ticket booth. The theatre is a victorian
design that has two aisle ways with red upholstered seats on the left, right, and middle. The theater
is quaint in size but that only adds to the magical allusion that is created when you watch The Snow
Queen.
The Snow Queen is produced by Chrisina Zayti who also is the technical director for the play. She
is an Eastern Michigan Alumni and has been at the Marquis Theatre for quite some time. Yasmine
Jaffri is the director and writer and works with Elaine Liverance who is the musical director,
accompanist, and composer for the show. The Snow Queen has five main characters and many
supporting character that are mostly children. The character of Snow Queen, the antagonist, was
acted by Esther Jentzen another Eastern alumni who was making her debut on the Marquis Theatre
s stage. Gina Karkoski plays Bebe the protagonist in the story and best friends to Louie, who is
played by Emilee Theofanopoulos. The last main character is Rizzle played by Joshua Garreston
is a reindeer that helps Bebe on her quest to find Louie. There are three casts that perform in the

Figurative Language In Jeanne Duprau s The City Of Ember
In Jeanne DuPrau s book The City of Ember it takes place in a very dark city without power or
electricity and nobody s happy. And when two kids are presented with the opportunity to help
save their city and risk their lives, they are the ones who want to do so. They go on this journey
and hit many obstacles on the way but they have the mindset to never give up and it may or may
not help them. One theme that can be supported throughout the book is that when someone risks
their life for others they can earn great respect from other people and other peers.
The theme in the story The City of Ember is shown early on in the book and it is represented by
using author s craft. The author s craft that is being used in the book is figurative language, such
as similes and metaphors. She uses figurative language in many different ways that can support
the theme. For example Fear had settled over the city. Lina felt it like a cold chill (Duprau 85).
This is a good example of figurative language and it also supports the theme. This is a good
example, because it is describing how bad the city is and also how Lina realized she needed to
take charge in saving the city. Duprau also uses another good example of figurative language
towards the beginning also. For instance it states in the book Once they are out the door, Lizzie
said goodbye and scurried away as if Linas bad luck were a disease that she might catch (Duprau
58). This is a good representation because it is leading up to the

Analysis Of The Book The Dreams From My Father
The book centers on the life of Barack Hussein Obama II s life until his enrollment to the Harvard
Law School. There is not much Washington setting throughout the book; therefore, the focus would
be the parallels between his life before his presidency as told in this memoir and his life as the
most powerful man in Washington, DC. In this paper, the focus will be on Obama and his father,
African American history, his way to success, and finally, his experience in Washington.
First published in 1995, the Dreams from my Father reveals a great portrayal of the head of the
US government as a person before achieving his status and power. Today, across the globe, the
name Barack Obama would be recognizable the man who stirred the status quo of the Presidency
and making a mark as the first African American US President. Anyone who visits Washington, DC
would hope to encounter Obama. Although the book was written before his term as a President, it
clearly depicts his character as a leader.
What is notable about the book is Obama s vulnerable side. The powerful President has also
struggled in life. Someone who feared of not belonging. Someone who lost a loved one. Someone
who learned from his mistakes. During his visit in Kenya, for the first time in [his] life, [he] found
[himself] thinking deeply about money: my own lack of it, the pursuit of it, the crude but
undeniable peace it could buy (329). Yet, what is more remarkable is observing how Obama
thought about understanding

Globalization Vs Neorealism
Globalization is the intensification of networks of interdependence at multi continental distances. It
is the idea that actions in one area of the world affect different areas in the world. The argument,
though, is whether or not globalization is occurring, if countries are dependent or interdependent.
When turning on the news today, one might see more on whats going on in Russia or North Korea
than in their own backyard. This is an example of Globalization. By examining it through
Neorealism, one can better understand its prevalence. Neorealism primarily centers on the
importance of the structure of the international system when explaining the events in international
politics. It states that a state s position in the international system determines its actions and
behavior. The father of Neorealism, Waltz, stated in the Journal of Politics and Society that,
different international relation structure permit and cause the units of a system to change their
behavior and produce different outcomes (Waltz p.4). If that be the case, then Globalization is at
the center of politics. The theory of Neorealism itself defends the argument that Globalization is
occurring; one state s capabilities directly affects another s actions. To better understand this one
must accept that the international system s ordering principle is anarchy, the idea that there is no
higher authority or world government. This creates an almost self help kind of atmosphere for all
of the world

Redistricting Essay
Redistricting is defined within our textbook as the redrawing of Congressional and other legislative
district lines following the census to accommodate population shifts and to keep districts as equal
as possible in population. Redistricting occurs after a census has been completed every 10 years to
maintain a more equitably distribution of fairness among minorities within each state but each state
also retains the right to request to redraw district boundaries more frequently if then need should
arise.
Our study and its subsequent design ensure that the voters that who were moved into these districts
are comparable to the voters that still remain within the existing districts. Redistricting also permits
us to fittingly model the miscellany procedure. To guarantee the voters a sense of fairness and to
fight against vote reduction and weakening, these regions are drawn concisely so that a margin of
the voting age population within the newly drawn districts are minorities. In both 1990 and 2000,
after each census was performed, North Carolina gained 1 seat in the house. North Carolina gained

How Does Michelle Obama Use Ethos In Equal Rights For Women
The two speeches I will be comparing in this essay are Michelle Obama s Speech at the 2016
Democratic National Convention and Shirley Chisholm s Equal Rights For Women Speech
because in my opinion they re great speeches and they both used the appeals in the rhetorical
triangle in order to prove their point and convince the audience. They both reach out to the
audience by the choice of words they use and the way they word their sentences. Michelle Obamas
speech she mainly uses all three rhetorical appeals logos, pathos, and ethos. Shirley Chisholm s
speech uses two of the three rhetorical triangle appeals pathos, and ethos.

The first example of why I believe this is because she uses powerful statements such as We know
that our words and actions matter not just to our girls, but to children across this country kids
who tell us, I saw you on TV, I wrote a report on you for school. Kids like the little black boy who
looked up at my husband, his eyes wide with hope, and he wondered, Is my hair like yours.? By
saying that people s actions matter to children she s capable of making the audience feel
compassionate, she also shows that she doesn t care about herself that much, she keeps putting
children and everyone else in the country before herself. When she says The little black boy who
looked up at my husband, his eyes wide with hope she helps the audience see how children hope
to be like certain adults when they grow up because children tend to want to grow up and be like
their role models. Another great example to why I believe her speech was better at persuading
her target is when she states Police officers and protesters in Dallas who all desperately want to
keep our children safe. People who lined up in Orlando to donate blood because it could have been
their son, their daughter in that club. Leaders like Tim Kaine who show our kids what decency and

The Experience Of The Student Nurse Graduate
The experience of the student nurse graduate transition influences the importance as it will become
their desire to continue practising as a registered nurse (Cleary et al. 2011, 2013). Even though the
nursing degree s clinical practice is a compulsory element of the undergraduate nursing program, it
cannot be experienced from a registered nurse perspective, until nursing students have transitioned
to a registered nurse. This imposes a change in roles and different expectations which causes
concerns for student nurse. Buckenham (1994) reports that newly graduated nurses experience
stress, disillusionment and despair in their first year of registration. There are many challenges

Whilst on clinical placement, I have observed registered nurses go against what is not based on
credible evidence based practice. I have also worked along side registered nurses who have not
liked being questioned on their practice. They demonstrate themselves as role models for
younger generations and a large knowledge in the health care profession. The biggest burdens
discussed in nursing literature that has shown to effects proficiency is that new graduate nurses
have a lack in self confidence (Pfaff, Baxter, Jack, Ploeg, 2014). This affects relationships
between the health care professionals and patients, resulting in a lack of patient advocacy (Pfaff,
Baxter, Jack, Ploeg, 2014). With a lack in self confidence it will affect my ability to make
effective and critical decisions. In order to overcome these challenges, I must commit myself to
learning and keeping up with the advances in the medicine industry (Lima, Newall, Kinney,
Jordan, Hamilton, 2014). Many new graduates may feel under prepared in their transition year,
from starting the heavy workloads of their own patients, shift work and responsibilities associated
with the role as a registered nurse (Duchscher 2001; Chang and Daly 2001; Baillie 1999; Kelly

Grade Hierarchy Analysis Call Graph
According to Figure 2.8, node 7, node 8 and node 9 do not have any other predecessors except
node 5 node 6 and by removing non instantiated methods they become head nodes. So, I should
remove these heads from graph and this new graph can be considered as RTA result for the given
CHA Call Graph (Figure 2.9).
Figure 2.9: The result of removing head nodes from graph
To clarify this approach, I will use the computed Class Hierarchy Analysis Call Graph from the
first example (Figure 2.6) and convert it to RTA. Since set of instantiated classes contains Class B
Class C, according to the algorithm, I have to remove node A.m( ).
Moreover, if I check Call Graph again, I will find that node Interface.( ) has a reflexive edge and it s
indegree=1 . Therefore, this node should be deleted as well.

Effects Of Sea Ice On Polar Bears
Introduction Due to the effects of greenhouse gases, the sea ice that polar bears rely on for
foraging and shelter is declining rapidly. Some populations of polar bears are forced to depend
on their stored fat for energy during summer due to melting of the sea ice, which prevents them
from hunting more efficiently. Being forced to rely on stored fat leads to a decline in energy
intake, which leads to a decline in body mass. A decline in body mass correlates with slower
reproductive rates and decreasing survival rates, which effects the growth and genetic diversity
of the population. The increased amount of open water in between sea ice causes the polar
bears to swim for greater lengths and therefore makes it more difficult for female polar bears to
find proper dens for reproducing and protecting their offspring (Derocher and Stirling, 2012).
The rate at which the sea ice declines is projected to accelerate over time (Derocher and Stirling,
2012), which means we will soon reach a year when severe malnutrition will lead to an irreversible
decrease of polar bear populations (Aars et... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, many human bear interactions lead to death of the polar bear, which can only lead
to more negative effects on their, already declining, populations (Aars et al., 2013). All of these
factors leading to high mortality rates and low reproduction rates which are causing a severe lack
in genetic diversity of polar bears due to the extremely limited gene pool (Derocher and Stirling,
2012). Conclusion In conclusion, the melting of the sea ice leads to a lack of food availability,
increased swimming time, and dysfunctional maternal dens, which causes loss of body mass,
declined reproductive fitness, increased human bear interaction, lack of genetic diversity, and
ultimately higher mortality

The Four Types of Paragraphs
THE FOUR TYPES OF PARAGRAPHS (With Examples)
There are four types of paragraphs we write. They include: narrative, informative, descriptive, and
persuasive. All paragraphs have certain elements, but the four types are also different from one
another in how they are composed. Look at the outline about paragraphs in general.
All paragraphs:
1. It has a strong beginning, or introduction sentence, which states the main idea clearly.
2. It has several supporting sentences which make up the body, and support the main idea. All
sentences in the supporting details should back up, or point to, that main idea. The details should
be strong and vivid. The sentence structure and length should vary.

All that was left was the bathroom and my bedroom. I snuck into the bedroom, wielding the
sharp knife in terror, and bent over to look under the bed. No one was there. I silently released
my breath and turned toward the closet. I opened the closet carefully and switched on the light.
Again, no one was there. I had one place left to look: the bathroom. This was probably the
hardest place, because I had seen too many movies where someone was hiding in the shower.
Nonetheless, I crept into the tiny bathroom and flipped on the light switch. The navy blue
shower curtain hung there concealing whatever fate lay before me. I reached my hand out
toward the curtain, paused a moment, steeling myself and summoning the last of my courage,
and committed myself to the search. I grabbed the edge of the curtain and whipped it back in a
flash, preparing myself to use the knife on the fiend hiding in there. I trembled as the knife
dropped out of my hand. No one was there. Relief flooded me so strongly that I nearly crumpled
to the floor. Later, after I had called my boyfriend back, he remembered that he had gone by the
apartment while I was gone and dropped off a book I was reading. I had forgotten that he had a
key. He had forgotten he d been there and closed the door. That was one wild homecoming!

Setting And Symbolism In The Piano Lesson By August Wilson
A haunting of the past
In August Wilson s play, The piano lesson, the author takes his readers on a journey through the
life of the Charles family. Sister and brother battle each other over a piano that tells their family s
history. Through examining their history, Wilson uses setting and symbolism to convey his
personal belief in the importance of one s ancestral family roots and the significant impact it has
in a person s everyday life. The author uses setting to introduce the significance in the ancestry of
the Charles family and further examine the troubling state of the current generation. Wilson grew
up in a non wealthy colored district in which he set most of his plays (Fisher, James), so there is
no surprise that Wilson s play has black roots that are relatable to his past ,also acting as salute to
people of color (Gantt, Patricia). His strong connection to African American roots are why
censors ,who have criticized Wilsons work, applaud him on his capability to make interesting
characters and pull from African American folklore (Bloom, Harold), and in doing so, he shared
much of his native craft and technique (Tracie, Guzzio). A man owns the Charles family, whose
grandparents had ownership of his grandparents, and he happens to also be man who held the title
of Robert Stutter (Bryer, Jackson R., and Mary C. Hartig, Wilson 1.2.8). In the play, a major
flashback occurs on a slave plantation where the older Charles family must to pick cotton (2.1.7).
The setting is critical to the family when it comes to the readers understanding of the present
Charles s past, as their grandparents were slaves which in turn made life for the future generations a
lot harder. Although Bernice lives in Pittsburgh (1.1.5), it is still hard for colored people to make a
living and buy food from white only markets, so instead, their parents teach them things such as
how to kill a chicken (2.2.10). Wilson uses setting to show that even though Bernice lives in a
different environment than that of which her family roots originate, their individualities interrupt
and cross within her own (Lise, Kidergurd), and the physical things, such as her skin color, still
affect her present life. Although Bernice does not wish to

Japanese Internment Camps During Ww2

American POWs in Japan feel invisible. There was more than 140,000 prisoners of war, and

Allusions In Atonement
Atonement embraces the notion of literary delusion and great social awareness in the domain of
contemporary literature. One of the most interesting aspects of a successful novel is its reference to
events and texts beyond its immediate universe. Atonement, written by Ian McEwan, is a novel that
transcends literary boundaries by commenting on the narrator s egocentrism, while simultaneously
exploring human sexuality and subverting Victorian Puritanical mores of sex. Atonement
incorporates numerous literary allusions to works such as Lady Chatterley s Lover, written by D.H

The intricacy of the novel s structure, the intertwining of character s lives denotes author Briony s
exceptional ability to warp and manipulate events. The utilization of modernist technique temporal
prolepsis emphasises this, In half an hour Briony would commit her crime , which implies
meticulous planning of both Briony as the narrator, and Briony s character in the novel. Thus, the
questioning of such literary authority in reflecting the true events is emphasised. In great parallel,
one s belief in spiritual superiority stimulates religious delusion, believing they can be exempted of
the bible s teachings. Christian teachings were revealed to be particularly questionable with the
exploitation of power during the early 20th Century. Roman Catholic priests, consumed with
arrogance of their prestigious status, committed innumerable child sexual abuse acts. The Augustin
Cardinal Bea, S.J, considered an expert on clerical abuse, stated that approximately 4% of priests
during the past half century have had a sexual experience with a minor , accentuating the
prevalence of such immoral acts. Although the bible clearly labels exploitation as a sin; But your
eyes and your hear are intent only upon your own dishonest gain, and on shedding innocent blood
and on practising oppression and extortion. ( Jeremiah 22:17) , the egocentrism of the priests lead
them to manifest a warped understanding of their own

Another Common Environmental Factor That Engineers Are
Another common environmental factor that engineers are concerned with when they consider the
conditions of bridges is wind loads. These are especially a hazard to cable supported bridges
because the system relies on a delicate balance of pressure that holds up the bridge, which can be
easily disturbed under high winds. One example of this is the Tacoma bridgefailure in Washington
state in 1940. While examining the evidence, engineers found that when the wind hits the body of
the bridge, it creates forces that oscillated the bridge, which caused instability (Gianni and Gazzola).
Additionally, when these bridges were built, the environment they were in was drastically different
than it is today. Although engineers took population increase... Show more content on

Although this was the specific reason for the collapse, the broader problem was inadequacies in
state inspections and the federal government failing to audit the state`s work adequately.
Another reason why designs of bridges fail is because there is not cohesiveness in the theory behind
construction and actual construction. Sometimes construction is either too dependent on theory or
ignorant of it, either way the assumptions made during design and construction are dangerous. This
is shown in the case of the Williamsburg Bridge where:
The rationale justifying the use of non galvanized high strength cable wires on the Williamsburg
Bridge was summarized as follows: If the wires are maintained dry, they do not need zinc coating.
If not, it will not save them in the long term. This reasoning may appear sound, yet it lacks both
the practical knowledge of life cycle cable performance and a theoretical model of wire
deterioration. (Yanev 119)
This gap between theory and practice in directly related to a gap between engineers and
management. Currently, engineers are in control of the design and construction, but the process of
this operation is given to management whose primary concern is cutting production cost.
Consequently, necessary redundancies are lost during construction. Although this eliminates initial
cost, it increases future cost because

leave adversaries of other religions behind. Settlers who resided in the Middle Atlantic region were

Economically, a large amount of money was spent on building new churches and financial aid was
given to ministers. Massachusetts was the first colony to tax residents to support the
Congressionalist Church. Also, during the Great Awakening, churches were making attempts to
return those individuals who roamed away from the church. The Great Awakening was a revival
caused by Jonathon Edwards during the enlightenment time period. The purpose of this revival
was to inspire communities to become more religiously involved as pastors were feeling distant
from god because of the lack of interest in religion at the time. The Great Awakening undermined
the Old Clergy and increased both the number and competiveness of churches. Thousands of
books were published and sold to bring the churches profit and therefore allowed more money to
aid in the churches construction. Socially, religion brought people together. People of the same
religion often worked better together which resulted in a stronger and closer community. Schools
were developed for children to learn to read the bible and to teach young men leadership. In the
New England region, dominance was shown with an impressive number of graduates, greatly
excelling the southern colonies. Religion was so vital to these early colonists that it greatly
affected social development, schooling, and even various basic rights we take for granted today. In
Colonial America, one must have been a member

The Psychological Side Of The Injury
Personal
It is widely an accepted belief that sports are ninety percent mental and ten percent physical so
when an injury occurs it is just as equal in importance to be aware of the psychological side of the
injury as well as the physical injury. Athletes around the world know not only the physical pain, but
the emotional toll injury places on a person who is sought after to perform their best day in and
day out. Small injuries that lower one s top performance ability, big injuries that force cease of
play for any amount of time, as well as chronic injuries that consistently keep coming back and
influence performance ability for a long time all effect people mentally negatively; some rise
above and some do not. Staying mentally strong during a time of injury is difficult and just as in
any difficult situation people respond differently. Knowing the ways that are typical in response to
an injury and being able to apply positive traits can provide for a much healthier, better, and in
some cases faster recovery.
I have always been prone to injury and had to deal with them consistently while growing up
playing sports. My dad has likewise always been my coach and it has been instilled in me since I
was young that the tough play through the pain. Playing through pain puts your mental toughness
on display. My psychological response to injuries when I was younger was looking for someone to
console me, but my dad never did. He always said to go back out there and try to play

Consequently, low cost carriers (LCCs) recorded growth during the review period.
The growing popularity of LCCs has led many full service airlines to launch subsidiaries offering
flight options with limited services. For example, China Eastern Airlines announced the launch of
China United Airlines in July 2014 and in July 2013, Air Canada launched its LCC, Air Canada
Rogue.
The North American airline market recorded slow growth during the review period
(2009в€’2013) in comparison to the developing Asia Pacific and Latin American markets.
According to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the region s air traffic
increased at rate of 1.3% in 2012 and 2.1% in 2013. Growth is expected to continue at a rate of
2.7% in 2014. The IATA expects the profit of airlines in North Americato increase from US$7.0
billion in 2013 to US$9.2 billion in 2014.
Boeing s Current Market Outlook 2014 report stated that North America holds a 27% share and
Latin America held a 33% share of the total seat capacity of LCCs in 2013.
One of the key reasons for high growth rate of LCCs in the Asia Pacific region is the emergence
of a rapidly expanding middle class population and greater levels of disposable income. Another
factor is the establishment of LCC subsidiaries by full service airlines.

Ceftriaxone Case Study
Questions
1. What was the purpose of the ceftriaxone? The tetanus toxoid?
Ceftriaxone is a broad spectrum antimicrobial used to treat bacterial infections varying from pelvic
inflammatory disease to urinary tract infections and lung infections among many others (https:/
/medlineplus.gov/druginfo/meds/a685032.html). It was used as such to treat supposed infection
related to the catfish puncture. The tetanus toxoid was administered for the purpose of preventing
further infection by the bacteria Clostridium tentani, which was suspected because of the puncture
wound and is an appropriate action according to the National Institute of Health (https:/

Raising Your Game With These Professional Casino Tips
Article 4 Raise your game with these professional casino tips
Myths and rumours go hand in hand when it comes to online casinos. The feeling that the games
against you or your lucks not in because of ulterior powers is something that every gambler feels at
least once in their life. Let me tell you now, success is not something that is predetermined, it comes
about through skill. The following are online casino tips direct from the professionals that can help
you raise your game and banish away the bad luck.
Monitor your money
It can t be stressed enough, but the moment you lose control of your money is the moment you
lose control of all you have worked to build. Before you part with a single pound, set your betting
limits and start ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bets maybe lower and the short term gains might be smaller, but over the long term there is
no doubt that you ll be able to find more success. Lower skilled games are branded safety nets in
some playing circles, but the fact is that if it isn t broke don t fix it.
Know when to walk away
It is undoubtedly the most important tip in this article and one that every player should take note
of. Gambling is an activity that should be fun and not something that weighs on your mind and
stresses you out. If you feel that gambling is costing you much more than you realised then you
must walk away. Losing streaks can steamroll out of control and clear your account entirely if
you are not careful. One thing that many professionals choose to do is to employ cool down
periods for when things start going wrong. This means that if you are losing hand after hand or
spin after spin, you invoke a time frame, whether be 1 day or 100 days, in which you don t
gamble. This will prevent you ending up gambling money you shouldn t and preserve whatever
money you have left.
Article 5 Casino bonuses explained
They are the bait on the end of the hook when it comes to enticing players to sign up for an online
casino account. Casino bonuses look like free money to those who are unaware of what lies
behind them. Before you sign up to any and every casino bonus you see online, take a step back
and read this article. Reason

  • 2. Dolphins Persuasive Why Should We Save the Dolphins? Final Draft By: Emily Chang Class: 6(2) Subject: English Teacher: Mr. Kris(Smith) Imagine you are a dolphin swimming happily in the ocean with the other dolphins. Suddenly, you hear something terrible, and that makes you feel extremely uncomfortable. You swim towards somewhere safe to get away from that terrible sound. However, when you get in, you realize it is a trap! You have been caught! You might be sent to an aquarium or killed to be made into sushi. This unfortunate fate is not a dream, but it is a sad reality for hundreds of thousands of innocent dolphins. They are endangered of becoming extinct and their main predators are us, humans. Our society needs to do something to preserve and protect our precious dolphins. Dolphins should be saved because they are an endangered species, it is cruel to kill such intelligent animals and they are not even safe to eat. Dolphins: An Endangered Species There are many kinds of dolphins in the world. The most common one that we see in theme parks, aquariums and movies is the Bottlenose Dolphin. Fortunately for us, this is one of the few species of dolphins that are not yet endangered. However, there are many other different species of dolphins that are endangered. For example, the Baiji Dolphins, Chilean ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The organization had a website, but it no longer exists so that makes the situation for these incredible creatures hopeless. It is likely that they are in fact extinct. This is a sad situation because we could have and should have prevented this. If we do not save the dolphins, the path to extinct might be quicker. Therefore, we must help save the dolphins to ensure their population continues to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Predation Cost of Conspicuous Male Coloration in Collard... Introduction Animal coloration is due to pigmentation found in the skin, feathers, and fur. Pigments are chemical substances produced in animals, which are accountable for coloration in living things. Pigments absorb some wavelengths of light and reflect specific wavelengths of visible light. The visible light that is reflected is what is seen (Biological Pigments 2010). Chromatophores are also important. These are pigment containing cells that are in the deep layers of the skin in animals. Chromatophores can be identified as melanophores (black), erythrophores (red), xanthophores (yellow), or lecophores (white) based on the colorof the pigments. The dispersal of these cells and the pigments and their orientation determine the color... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Population level studies have helped to explain the constraints that natural selection has on conspicuous coloration. For example, populations of chuckwallas (Sauromalus obesus) that suffered greater rates of predation were more drably colored than those who did not (Kwiatkowski 2003). Even though there is an abundance of evidence that sexual selection and species recognition favor conspicuous coloration, there is little experiential evidence that depict more conspicuous organisms suffer greater predation (Grant 1965; Williams 1977; Andersson 1994; Houde 1997). A limitation of support for a relationship between conspicuousness and predation risk is the way conspicuous colors are categorized. Studies show that the visual systems of different species of animals vary significantly from humans; so what colors seem conspicuous to humans, may not be conspicuous to a predator (Fleishman et al. 1993; Cuthill et. al 2000; Hart 2001b; Marshall 2001). Although it is highly assumed that males are more likely to be preyed upon more frequently than females because of their conspicuous coloration, evidence for this is inconsistent (Andersson 1994; Zuk and Kolluru 1998). A study done on guppies (Poecilia reticulate) revealed that the conspicuous males were attacked equal to or less than the dull females (Pocklington and Dill 1995). Another study that was performed on rock dragons showed that the more conspicuous males were preyed upon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Lymphangiomas Lymphangiomas Recently physicians at Lucile Packard Children s Hospital at Stanford found a potential treatment to Lymphangiomas. Lymphangiomas is the overgrowth of the lymph channels, which can cause airway constriction, and other aspects to the heart and lung function. The lymphatic systems function is to filter out pathogens in the blood. Vessels of the lymphatics are a one way system allowing fluids to come in but not to flow out. The issue lies in when these lymph vessels swell or begin to back up. In the case of lymphangiomas, these channels swell and get abnormally large. At Stanford, a common drug used for erectile dysfunction called sildenafil has been found to treat symptoms of lymphangiomas. The topic that is now up for debate is that if the use of sildenafil or commonly known Viagra should be used as a treatment for lymphangiomas in children and infants. The aftermath of using sildenafil has many effects that can be consider positive. Sildenafil has and is being used to treat erectile dysfunction, which is due to not enough blood, pumped to the penis or there being a blockage in blood being pumped to the penis. When you get to choose what to carry, but are limited on what you can carry, you have to pick wisely. Shelter, fire, water, and food are your priorities. When you can carry a shelter with you, you probably should, because it can save time and energy, both of which are always in short supply in the wilds. You can add forest debris to harden the shelter, but having a tarp on hand means you have a quick shelter for that first night that can be improved upon with your time. Fire starting materials are important, as well as a metal pot to boil water in and to prepared food with. A sleeping bag for cold weather, while heavy to carry would be considered an essential item in cold weather, if you had the choice. • 9. Payment System And The System Essay According to Borio and van den Bergh (1993:8), a payment system may be defined as the set of arrangements for the discharge of the obligations assumed by economic agents whenever they acquire real or financial resources. The history of payment systems has been driven by the pressure to facilitate the execution of transactions. Although payments systems differ considerably from country to country, the major participants, as well as the key features of the settlement media and mechanisms, are quite similar. In line with Borio and van den Bergh on the evolution of payments systems (1993:8), Bhiri, Vhimisai and Bayai (2014:412) stated that payments systems have evolved over the years in tandem with the quantum leap in the volume and value of the payment system transactions. The researcher sought to analyse the reasons why there were payment transaction failures due to the systems being used by the financial institution where the researcher is employed. Oliveira and Martins (2011:110) stated that IT is universally regarded as an essential tool in enhancing the competitiveness of the economy of a country. It is commonly accepted today that IT has significant effects on the productivity of firms. Oliveira and Martins (2011:10) further explained that it is crucial to understand the determinants of IT adoption and the theoretical models that are raised when addressing IT adoption. Then, I will evaluate various perspectives on attaining sustainable development. Lastly, I will argue in support of two paradigm shifts necessary for serious implementation of public policy initiatives aimed at its promotion. An Introduction to Sustainable Development In 1980 and again in 1992, Presidents Jimmy Carter and George Bush faced rough economic times and partially blamed environmental policy. Both presidents men that had campaigned as environmentalists scaled back environmental regulation in hopes of stimulating the economy and their re election campaigns (Krupp). The men failed on both accounts, and compromised environmental protection for supposed economic benefits. Evidence suggests that the environment need not be pitted against economic well being as Bush, Carter, and many others have done; sustainable development is the key to ensuring well being of today s citizens as well as future generations. A 1996 essay by British Member of Parliament Chris Smith analyzed many of the jobs versus environment claims made by opponents of environmental regulation. Chris Smith states that lost jobs often attributed to environmental legislation would often have soon been eliminated anyway; in many cases, environmental policy serves as a convenient scapegoat. He cites incidents in which jobs are actually created by enactment of environmentally friendly public policy. For example, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a matter of fact, it protects you from the elements and literally keeps you together. You, in turn, do your best to protect it from any kind of damage. Then, one day, acne rears its ugly head, and you suddenly no longer love your skin. What do you do then? Turn to harsh chemicals, and overpriced scrubs? That s a great way to thank a friend who s been there for you since day one. Your epidermis isn t at fault here since it can t help that your hormones are causing all that extra sebum to clog up your pores, or the fact that bacteria is running rampant. This is what causes pores to become blocked with bacteria, which causes inflammationand redness. If your skin could talk, what would it say? • 21. External Factors Of Academic Resilience ACADEMIC RESILIENCE Academic Resilience is the capacity to achieve good academic achievements despite the adversity experienced. There could be several circumstances that create a situation where an individual can become a school dropout, low achiever and a persistently de motivated student. Academic resilience is the extra ordinary capacity that helps the student to rise above all these adverse conditions and perform academically well and to be in motivated state, for academic achievement (Alva, 1991, p. 19). In school going children, academic achievement is an important indicator of academic resilience. (Masten Coastworth, 1998). Academic resilience is a strong developmental construct which is contributed by internal and external factors (Luthar, Cicchetti, Becker, 2000). The Marquis Theater is a beautifully restored historic landmark. Upon entering, you are transported back to an earlier time. The lobby features the original french doors, the stained glass windows, and the old fashioned ticket booth. The theatre is a victorian design that has two aisle ways with red upholstered seats on the left, right, and middle. The theater is quaint in size but that only adds to the magical allusion that is created when you watch The Snow Queen. The Snow Queen is produced by Chrisina Zayti who also is the technical director for the play. She is an Eastern Michigan Alumni and has been at the Marquis Theatre for quite some time. Yasmine Jaffri is the director and writer and works with Elaine Liverance who is the musical director, accompanist, and composer for the show. • 23. Figurative Language In Jeanne Duprau s The City Of Ember In Jeanne DuPrau s book The City of Ember it takes place in a very dark city without power or electricity and nobody s happy. And when two kids are presented with the opportunity to help save their city and risk their lives, they are the ones who want to do so. They go on this journey and hit many obstacles on the way but they have the mindset to never give up and it may or may not help them. One theme that can be supported throughout the book is that when someone risks their life for others they can earn great respect from other people and other peers. The theme in the story The City of Ember is shown early on in the book and it is represented by using author s craft. The author s craft that is being used in the book is figurative language, such as similes and metaphors. She uses figurative language in many different ways that can support the theme. For example Fear had settled over the city. Lina felt it like a cold chill (Duprau 85). This is a good example of figurative language and it also supports the theme. This is a good example, because it is describing how bad the city is and also how Lina realized she needed to take charge in saving the city. Duprau also uses another good example of figurative language towards the beginning also. For instance it states in the book Once they are out the door, Lizzie said goodbye and scurried away as if Linas bad luck were a disease that she might catch (Duprau 58). This is a good representation because it is leading up to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Analysis Of The Book The Dreams From My Father The book centers on the life of Barack Hussein Obama II s life until his enrollment to the Harvard Law School. There is not much Washington setting throughout the book; therefore, the focus would be the parallels between his life before his presidency as told in this memoir and his life as the most powerful man in Washington, DC. In this paper, the focus will be on Obama and his father, African American history, his way to success, and finally, his experience in Washington. First published in 1995, the Dreams from my Father reveals a great portrayal of the head of the US government as a person before achieving his status and power. Today, across the globe, the name Barack Obama would be recognizable the man who stirred the status quo of the Presidency and making a mark as the first African American US President. Anyone who visits Washington, DC would hope to encounter Obama. Although the book was written before his term as a President, it clearly depicts his character as a leader. What is notable about the book is Obama s vulnerable side. The powerful President has also struggled in life. Someone who feared of not belonging. Someone who lost a loved one. Someone who learned from his mistakes. During his visit in Kenya, for the first time in [his] life, [he] found [himself] thinking deeply about money: my own lack of it, the pursuit of it, the crude but undeniable peace it could buy (329). • 25. Globalization Vs Neorealism Globalization is the intensification of networks of interdependence at multi continental distances. It is the idea that actions in one area of the world affect different areas in the world. The argument, though, is whether or not globalization is occurring, if countries are dependent or interdependent. When turning on the news today, one might see more on whats going on in Russia or North Korea than in their own backyard. This is an example of Globalization. By examining it through Neorealism, one can better understand its prevalence. Neorealism primarily centers on the importance of the structure of the international system when explaining the events in international politics. It states that a state s position in the international system determines its actions and behavior. The father of Neorealism, Waltz, stated in the Journal of Politics and Society that, different international relation structure permit and cause the units of a system to change their behavior and produce different outcomes (Waltz p.4). If that be the case, then Globalization is at the center of politics. The theory of Neorealism itself defends the argument that Globalization is occurring; one state s capabilities directly affects another s actions. To better understand this one must accept that the international system s ordering principle is anarchy, the idea that there is no higher authority or world government. This creates an almost self help kind of atmosphere for all of the world ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Redistricting Essay Redistricting is defined within our textbook as the redrawing of Congressional and other legislative district lines following the census to accommodate population shifts and to keep districts as equal as possible in population. Redistricting occurs after a census has been completed every 10 years to maintain a more equitably distribution of fairness among minorities within each state but each state also retains the right to request to redraw district boundaries more frequently if then need should arise. Our study and its subsequent design ensure that the voters that who were moved into these districts are comparable to the voters that still remain within the existing districts. Redistricting also permits us to fittingly model the miscellany procedure. To guarantee the voters a sense of fairness and to fight against vote reduction and weakening, these regions are drawn concisely so that a margin of the voting age population within the newly drawn districts are minorities. The biggest burdens discussed in nursing literature that has shown to effects proficiency is that new graduate nurses have a lack in self confidence (Pfaff, Baxter, Jack, Ploeg, 2014). This affects relationships between the health care professionals and patients, resulting in a lack of patient advocacy (Pfaff, Baxter, Jack, Ploeg, 2014). • 33. Effects Of Sea Ice On Polar Bears Introduction Due to the effects of greenhouse gases, the sea ice that polar bears rely on for foraging and shelter is declining rapidly. Some populations of polar bears are forced to depend on their stored fat for energy during summer due to melting of the sea ice, which prevents them from hunting more efficiently. Being forced to rely on stored fat leads to a decline in energy intake, which leads to a decline in body mass. A decline in body mass correlates with slower reproductive rates and decreasing survival rates, which effects the growth and genetic diversity of the population. The increased amount of open water in between sea ice causes the polar bears to swim for greater lengths and therefore makes it more difficult for female polar bears to find proper dens for reproducing and protecting their offspring (Derocher and Stirling, 2012). The rate at which the sea ice declines is projected to accelerate over time (Derocher and Stirling, 2012), which means we will soon reach a year when severe malnutrition will lead to an irreversible decrease of polar bear populations (Aars et... • 35. Setting And Symbolism In The Piano Lesson By August Wilson A haunting of the past In August Wilson s play, The piano lesson, the author takes his readers on a journey through the life of the Charles family. Sister and brother battle each other over a piano that tells their family s history. Through examining their history, Wilson uses setting and symbolism to convey his personal belief in the importance of one s ancestral family roots and the significant impact it has in a person s everyday life. The author uses setting to introduce the significance in the ancestry of the Charles family and further examine the troubling state of the current generation. Wilson grew up in a non wealthy colored district in which he set most of his plays (Fisher, James), so there is no surprise that Wilson s play has black roots that are relatable to his past ,also acting as salute to people of color (Gantt, Patricia). His strong connection to African American roots are why censors ,who have criticized Wilsons work, applaud him on his capability to make interesting characters and pull from African American folklore (Bloom, Harold), and in doing so, he shared much of his native craft and technique (Tracie, Guzzio). A man owns the Charles family, whose grandparents had ownership of his grandparents, and he happens to also be man who held the title of Robert Stutter (Bryer, Jackson R., and Mary C. Hartig, Wilson 1.2.8). In the play, a major flashback occurs on a slave plantation where the older Charles family must to pick cotton (2.1.7). The setting is critical to the family when it comes to the readers understanding of the present Charles s past, as their grandparents were slaves which in turn made life for the future generations a lot harder. Although Bernice lives in Pittsburgh (1.1.5), it is still hard for colored people to make a living and buy food from white only markets, so instead, their parents teach them things such as how to kill a chicken (2.2.10). Wilson uses setting to show that even though Bernice lives in a different environment than that of which her family roots originate, their individualities interrupt and cross within her own (Lise, Kidergurd), and the physical things, such as her skin color, still affect her present life. Thus, the questioning of such literary authority in reflecting the true events is emphasised. • 40. Another Common Environmental Factor That Engineers Are Another common environmental factor that engineers are concerned with when they consider the conditions of bridges is wind loads. These are especially a hazard to cable supported bridges because the system relies on a delicate balance of pressure that holds up the bridge, which can be easily disturbed under high winds. One example of this is the Tacoma bridgefailure in Washington state in 1940. While examining the evidence, engineers found that when the wind hits the body of the bridge, it creates forces that oscillated the bridge, which caused instability (Gianni and Gazzola). Additionally, when these bridges were built, the environment they were in was drastically different than it is today. Although engineers took population increase... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although this was the specific reason for the collapse, the broader problem was inadequacies in state inspections and the federal government failing to audit the state`s work adequately. Another reason why designs of bridges fail is because there is not cohesiveness in the theory behind construction and actual construction. Sometimes construction is either too dependent on theory or ignorant of it, either way the assumptions made during design and construction are dangerous. This is shown in the case of the Williamsburg Bridge where: The rationale justifying the use of non galvanized high strength cable wires on the Williamsburg Bridge was summarized as follows: If the wires are maintained dry, they do not need zinc coating. If not, it will not save them in the long term. This reasoning may appear sound, yet it lacks both the practical knowledge of life cycle cable performance and a theoretical model of wire deterioration. (Yanev 119) This gap between theory and practice in directly related to a gap between engineers and management. Currently, engineers are in control of the design and construction, but the process of this operation is given to management whose primary concern is cutting production cost. Consequently, necessary redundancies are lost during construction. Although this eliminates initial cost, it increases future cost because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
