The progressive era in the United States is associated...
The progressive era in the United States is associated with political reforms and social change. During
the late 1800s and early 1900s, the United States power was experienced across the globe. Business
firms experienced immense growth making some owners excessively rich. On the other hand, the
American people experienced unhappiness owing to some problems at home. Workers in the huge
corporations did not experience considerable changes in their lives. Employees were subjected to
severe working conditions, which were exposed by muckrakers among other people. Railroad charges
for shipping crops were very high, which gave farmers immense problems. Increased immigration
rates also caused numerous concerns with the need to reform the foreign ... Show more content on

Sinclair exposed the presence of insects and rats in meat packing plants, which could have a
significant effect on people s health. Some individuals in the federal government knew of the
conditions in such plants but made no interventions. However, the publishing of the book The Jungle
caused pressures from authorities, including President Roosevelt, which led to the enactment of the
Meat Inspection Act. Other writers, such as Ida Tarbell, exposed unethical business competition
techniques, such as that of the Standard Oil Company, which pushed competitors from the market.
The unhealthy living conditions in the overcrowded slums were also exposed by writers. The New
York s Wall Street was also targeted by some writers as few individuals controlled the flow of money
in the entire nation. These writers were referred to as muckrakers. President Roosevelt compared them
to people raking up the muck without doing any good (Cocks, Holloran, Lessoff, 2009). However, the
muckrakers are recognized for exposing the ills that threatened to damage the United States society.
The works of such writers also stimulated policymakers to seek alternative ways of doing things.
Muckrakers played a significant role in exposing scandals, corruption, and wastes, which could not
have detected by the general population.
Child labor was also an issue that attracted immense interests during the

Peds In Sports
In the recent history of American sports, there has been a surplus of the use of Performance Enhancing
Drugs, PEDs . This has varied from the case in Major League Baseball and the biogenesis scandal, to
the case that involves Lance Armstrong in cycling. In addition, Russia is facing a ban from the 2016
Olympics in Rio for the usage of PEDs. In fact, according to Kalyeena Makortoff, ...Russian track and
field athletes, which were encouraged and covered up by coaches, doctors, and state and sports
officials, (What You need to Know about Russia s Doping Scandal, Makortoff) to use PEDs. With the
usage of these drugs, it is known that it can have short term success in an athlete s sport which is an
unfair advantage. Some argue that this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sports industry will not tolerate athletes using the drugs and in the long run killing himself or
herself by using the drugs while an athlete for a sport. Legalizing the use of Performance Enhancing
Drugs could also become a sport of its own by athletes looking for the best drug possible and find
drugs that can turn them more into creature than human. Then sports will truly not be sport, it is going
to become a shot race for the next injection. This situation could only go for so long until a
detrimental situation happens when in the middle of the usage of PEDs, a life is lost from not using
the drugs properly. According to Doctor Thomas H. Murray The drug race in sport has the potential to
create a slow motion public health catastrophe. (Top 10 Pros and Cons Should performance enhancing
drugs (such as steroids) be accepted in sports?, Procon.)
In conclusion, Performance Enhancing Drugs such as steroids should not be legalized in the sporting
world. This is because of the long term health of the person, an unfair advantage that happens when
using Performance Enhancing Drugs, and the argument for legalizing PEDs is simply asinine.
Remember, that in the sports world many believe that the rules can be flexible if the right loophole is
found, and some may find a way to work the system. So those that try to use the drugs, just remember
it isn t the rules you are bending and breaking, it is your body that is being broken in the

International Financial Reporting System ( Ifrs ) Rules...
This article introduces the International Financial Reporting System (IFRS) rules and practices, to the
Czech Republic. The IFRS is a financial reporting system was established in an attempt to maintain
stability throughout the financial community. Despite the conflicts with other countries accounting
systems, the IFRS attempts to organize one financial standard system for businesses to report their
financial statements. This article examines the relationship between domestic and global standards of
accounting. The concept of developing a modern accounting standard in the Czech Republic, implies
that most companies in that country are not willing to change their accounting standards. Throughout
the history of the Czech Republic s accounting standards, companies were only obligated to maintain
a uniform account and accounting charts for specific sectors. The system only consisted of a balance
sheet to summarize assets and liabilities, and an income statement to recognize costs and revenues.
The guidelines for each corporation relates to the directives and regulations of the company s
statistics, costing, budgeting and management of stocks. Additionally, a separate accounting method
was set up for companies cost accounting, including inventory management, costs and benefits of
internal segments, payroll, and the cost accounting of various industries, commercial finance, foreign
trade and non profit organizations. Cost accounting was excluded by most companies, whereas

What Is The Theme Of A Journey By Com Tóibin
Assignment 5 A
Everyone who lives also dies, but between these two parallels there is a journey filled with happiness,
depression, illness and much more. Sometimes occurrences happen that can t be controlled and other
times your decisions will alter your own life. This is some of the themes that Mary is dealing with in
the short story A Journey from 2006 by Colm Tóibin.
The short story heavily revolves around the protagonist woman Mary and her depressed son. The two
are driving home from the hospital and the tension between them is very high. The reader is told that
Mary and her husband Seamus was married for 20 years before conceiving David which resulted in
the two being older parents and even more importantly not expected to become ... Show more content

The first paragraph from line 1 to 21 is a flashback which gives the reader information about David,
Mary and their relationship. If that paragraph was gone the reader wouldn t know that Mary and her
husband Seamus might have neglected their son a little which is crucial to understanding why the son
is depressed as an adult. The flashbacks also illustrates how the family s past life has changed with the
years, such as how David ...follow her around asking her questions... (P.1, L. 20 21). Whereas in the
present time he doesn t want to sit next to her nor answer her questions. Another important flashback
is when Mary thinks back to when her father was dying and she sat with him In the months when he
was dying, when he seemed so mild and good humoured, Mary stayed on alone with him and sat with
him (P.3, L. 114 116). Whereas David doesn t care about his father s health. The flashbacks points the
reader to the parallels between the past and now and this is important considering without it the reader

New Zealand Cultural And Ethical Consideration Essay
New Zealand Cultural and Ethical consideration
For the ethical considerations the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (n.d.) summarized that
there are three basic ethical principles relevant to research involving human subjects. The three things
stated by the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (n.d.) are respect for persons, beneficence
and justice. For the respect for the person each individual should be treated as autonomous agents as
such the researcher should ensure that the participants of the research received a full disclosure of the
nature of the study, risk, benefits and alternatives with a decent opportunity to ask questions. For the
ones with diminished authority or those with either their mental or physical faculties are limited. They
should not be forced to participate in the research. For the beneficence the researcher should maximize
the benefits of the study while limiting the negative effects on the participants. For the justice part of
ethics there should be fairness in the distribution of participants and there should be equitable
selection off participants. For justice the researcher should not withhold any benefit the person should
be entitled without any god reason. According to the American Psychological Association(2003) there
are five principles for research ethics these principles help the researcher avoid problems in ethics.

Reflection About Reading And Writing
It was my second grade year, I was only 7 years old, when I first found my hatred of anything that had
to do with reading or writing. Every week my teacher would give us a lengthy list of vocabulary
words that we had to memorize before our spelling test the following week. I would study for periods
at a time trying to memorize this gruesome lists of words, that I could never commemorate. When it
came down to the day of the test I would see all my classmates at ease, while I would panic trying to
remember what I studied. When it finally became time to take the test, I heard the teacher call the
word island , but I couldn t concentrate. I was frustrated, I couldn t think, the teacher would ask is
everyone ready to move on , but I wouldn t say anything, because I was too shy. After a couple of days
I would get my score back, and wasn t surprised when I found out that I had failed the test. Weekley
this was recurring theme when I got my spelling test returned. Eventually, I accepted the fact that
reading and writing was not for me. Although my second grade experience was terrible, my third
grade year gave me an experience that I never had with literacy. My teacher Mrs. Quinn, would give
us a list of vocabulary words, but instead of us memorizing them, we would have to create a story
using these words. This opened my eyes to a component of literacy that I never explored. I had total
creative freedom, something that I wasn t familiar with. The first set of words, was over

Policymakers have a range of tools to use in conflict resolution and post conflict reconstruction. While
varied in breath and effect, the political, economic, and military tools policy makers use ties to
traditional methods of conflict resolution. However, as conflicts have evolved to occupy the larger and
more public stages following globalization, so have the tools. Globalization not only increased state to
state awareness of inequalities in wealth and resources, but also within states; increasing tension along
ethnic and tribal lines. (Bercovitch and Jackson, 5) The political, economic, and military tools used in

Economic measures seek to establish long term macroeconomic policies and sustainable community
development by providing humanitarian relief, essential social services, and communication. Military
measures seek to demilitarize politics and transform cultures of violence through disarmament,
demobilization, establishing law and order, and rebuilding military and police forces. Ramsbotham
also identifies a fourth tenant not mentioned in the paper s question but equally important, social
measures. Social measures seek to heal psychological wounds and facilitate reconciliation by building
trust and inter communal dialog. Together these lines of effort replace lost essential infrastructure,
rebuild manufacturing capability to support the population, and construct the framework for a state to
thrive. (Week 3 Lecture, 3) Yet despite the different goals in each of the categories, they are far from
disconnected in practice. Political, economic, and military tools are as intertwined as their
counterparts in a Realists Balance of Power system. In The Balance of Power in International
Relations, Richard Little describes power as a function of the size of the population and territory,
resource endowment, economic capability, military strength, political stability and competence.

Comparing Attentional Capture By Rare And Constant, Novel,...
Attentional Capture by Rare and Constant, Novel, Sudden Onset Stimuli
Samuel Tong (450472150)
ABSTRACT
Novel and rare sudden onset stimuli are known to attract attention in different situations. Previously
Yantis Jonides (1990) have shown novel sudden onsets capture attention mainly when attention is
diffuse, and Neo Chua (2006) have shown rare sudden onsets capture attention so long as attention is
not already pre deployed to a stationary target. The current study aims to examine the interaction
between rarity of a novel, sudden onset and attention pre deployment by cues or stationary targets, and
how this interaction affects the attentional capture of novel sudden onsets. In doing so, a better
understanding of how these stimuli affect attentional processes may be established. Based upon the
experimental findings, it is proposed that when a sudden onset stimulus is both rare and novel, the
attentional capture processes when perceiving these stimuli are influenced by perceptual load and
modes of attention. Implications of these findings are discussed further in the paper.
Attentional Capture by Rare and Constant Novel Sudden Onset Stimuli
Attentional capture is controlled by top down, goal orientated processes, or by bottom up, stimulus
orientated processes (Wolfe, 1994, as cited by Emerson Kramer, 1997). Stimuli that appear suddenly,
or sudden onset stimuli, are known to attract attention in a bottom up fashion (Donderi, Zelnicker

Sully is an excellent movie that portrays the real life events when U.S. Airways Flight 1549 is forced
to make a water landing on the Hudson River due to loss of both engines from several bird strikes.
Director Clint Eastwood captivates and enthralls the audience with the events of this historic day and
brings to life the stories of those that lived through the accident. Actor Tom Hanks plays the famous
Captain Chesley Sully Sullenberger who landed the stricken plane in the water and saved the lives of
all 155 souls on board. Actor Aaron Eckhart plays First Officer Jeff Skiles who assists Sully with

World War I And Great War
World war one was one the biggest wars in recorded history. It lasted from 1914 1918 and was a brutal
conflict in Canadian history. More than 60,000 Canadians died in this war. When the First World War
began in the year of 1914, some believe that it would last for a long time. Many young individuals in
Canada and others saw this war as a privilege to travel, adventure, and great beauty. Some individuals
were afraid that the conflict would be over before they could get into the battle. Many people signed
up dreaming that they would have the honour of fighting for the British Empire, to which Canada
belonged. The somewhat Great War was different in the dreamy vision than it was in reality. This war
took the lives of more than 8 million ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the causes of world war one are imperialism, militarism, nationalism, and alliances.
Imperialism is when one country rules over another through establishment of colonies. Imperialism
resulted from Industrialization, which was needed for raw goods and markets for manufactured goods.
The countries fought with each other over colonies. Militarism was used for building a strong military
and in order for that country to have its interests dominate the government. In the past, war was seen
as something that was acceptable to solve conflicts and enhance a country. Some examples of
imperialism include: naval arms race between Great Britain and Germany. Nationalism is a strong
feeling of loyalty and protection of culture and need of ethnic group to have a country that is their
own. Alliances are countries that form cooperative groups in order to protect everyone s interests.
However, the most significant cause of world war one was industrialization, which had fueled
imperialism, and Nationalism. Together they both caused three factors that led to war: German
unification, territorial rivalries, and economic competition.
The Great powers were prepared to participate in the war because in the 15th century, some European
nations were expanding their territory forcefully. Countries that were powerful used imperialism by
creating colonies all over the world in order to create empires. They used the land and resources of the
nations that were weak and controlled by the great

Metaphors In Popular Culture
Literature, movies, and TV signify various aspects of culture and society using metaphors. Monsters
(e.g., vampires, werewolves, zombies, witches, and mermaids) are, sometimes, cultural metaphors;
they reflect culture issues. The portrayal and the features of such abnormal creatures have been
changed over the years as popular culture has changed. Vampire stories, one in particular, have
undergone a transformation from gothic subgenre to a romantic subgenre. Today, the popularity of
vampires has crossed over to create a vampire subgenre. Dracula and Twilight are two celebrated work
in vampire fiction in which vampires appeared differently in each work. Thereby, this paper aims to
discuss the differences in portraying vampires in Dracula and Twilight, and the cultural significances
which Dracula and Twilight symbolize.
Paul Murgatroyd, in Mythical Monsters in Classical Literature, explains the origin of the word
monster. He states that it is originally monstrum a Latin word which refers to preternatural situations
or evil creatures and it is related to the word moneo that means caution and alert (202). Monsters have
been used in literature since ancient history in poetry, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

vampires are savage and manipulative who tempt and fascinate their victims until they subsided

ninth century literature, according to Hobbs, is to use them as an indication of evil, corruption and the
abusive force that uses the life and soul of an innocent victim, one which must be destroyed by human
society (110). Victorian vampires behave fiercely immoral and plan on human to use them as a meal

him for her disappointment instead of blaming herself. By resolving her conflicts in the therapeutic
relationship, Mia may discover ways of resolving conflicts in a more healthy way outside of therapy.
Mia then describes a dream she had about leaving home for college. She also describes her sister who

Psychics And The Lottery Essay
Psychics and the Lottery
There s a controversial saying that if psychics really have the ability to predict the future, then why
don t they win the lottery? Well, in fact, psychics do win the lottery all the time. When you do your
research there are plenty of stories of self proclaimed psychics who won the lottery. There are news
stories about them and there are even some lottery winners who claimed to receive their winning
numbers from psychics and shamans.
Of course, you shouldn t trust certain television psychics who just want to milk the public for money.
These people are straight up liars or they will analyze and say things that anybody can see in a person.
Some of these psychics use astrology predictions to help them get an angle on a person, but when it
comes to real predictions they re clueless. However, there are psychics who are truly about that life.
They can predict the future and it takes them a little bit of time to do it. These psychics are low key
and they don t do it for money. They have a spiritual gift and want to share it with people. There is a
rule in the real psychic community that says you can t use your powers for personal gain, and this is
the reason why many real psychics don t typically play the lottery. But there are some who receive

When President Bill Clinton signed the memorandum to the Secretary of Defense in 1993 to stop
homosexual prejudices regarding who can serve in the U.S. military, he did not initiate the creation of
a policy denying them that right. The policies enacted were to enforce the free rights of everyone. Just
because people have read policies the way they want to interpret them shows that the policies,
themselves, need to be amended, not repealed. Nor can the meaning behind the creation of said
policies be let go. The repeal was ineffective due to the neutral effect it has had on military life, whilst

The Divine Command Theory ( Dct )
A shift in philosophy from a relativist point of view to a moral perspective brought about several new
revolutionary ideas. One particular theory that is hotly debated is the divine command theory (DCT).
This controversial idea essentially says that God is the boss. It proposes that God decides what is
moral and good, and therefore how we should be acting. It is a relationship between two claims, one
of which God commands, and as a result the other is what is right. Many people and philosophers,
such as the greatly influential 18th century thinker Emmanuel Kant, disapprove of it because it is
relatable only to highly specific groups. The Divine Command Theory can be a useful guidance for
those who are religious, however, I believe that this spiritual theory is not a wise guidance to follow.
The simple divine command theory is centered around the belief in God. If you do not believe in God,
then this theory cannot apply to you. It claims that morality is completely dependent on God. Under
the DCT, the morally right action is the one God commands or requires (IEP). For those who are
religious, this philosophy is a very easy way to live because it is extraordinarily simple. It doesn t
force any sort of mental activity or personal beliefs; you purely live according to what God says is
right. It calls into question the very study of ethics. Those who are religious are dedicated to this
theory because they believe that religion ought to have some bearing on our lives and take

3. Introduction
Business ethics is a very extensive subject that is not easy to define. According to Andrew Crane and
Dirk Matten (2004: 5), business ethics is the study of business situations, activities and decisions
where issues of right and wrong are addressed. With an increasing globalization, environmental and
social issues have amplified and therefore companies have to take full responsibility for the wrong
impact their actions have. Gap pays a lot of attention to the social issues and challenges that large
companies face, although it had some ethical issues in the past.
Gap Inc. is a large company in the clothing business with over 3,300 stores worldwide. As one of the
World s Most Ethical Companies in 2012 for the sixth straight year, it might be interesting to
investigate the ethical issues that have risen in the past years (Gap Inc., 2013a).
In the first section, this report outlines several ethical difficulties that occurred. Subsequently, some of
Gap Inc. s solutions for a better ethical policy are described. To conclude, some recommendations are
made, but those are limited because of the quick and good solutions Gap came up with in response to
its problems.

Industrial development and civilization has improved the living conditions but has also affected the
basic amenities of life; such as air, soil and water; due to the release of large amounts of contaminants
to the environment (Ayres, 1992). Metals are inorganic forms of contaminants whose extensive use
has caused significant environmental pollution (Kasassi et al., 2008). These are indirect sources of
water pollution that enters the water supply from soil/ ground water systems and from the atmosphere
via rain water. Of the important metals, mercury, lead, cadmium and chromium (VI) are considered as
toxic, whereas others such as copper, nickel, cobalt and zinc, are not as toxic; but their widespread
usage and increasing levels in the environment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on Changing Photojournalism Education in American...
Changing Photojournalism Education in American Universities
Kenneth Kenney stated the obvious in 1987 The lack of trained teachers and educators and standard
teaching materials is the most pressing problem in photojournalism education (Kenney 1987). The
same rings true today professors in the fields of journalism and photojournalism are practicing the
same things they were taught in college many have been out of the workforce for years, if they were
working journalists or photojournalists at all. Today s professors were trained in the beginning of the
digital age or earlier, and practices and requirements for the future photojournalists have changed, and
are continuing to change daily. Without the proper re education of these ... Show more content on

To ensure the proper training with equipment, the student must have access to the constantly changing
and updating materials that photojournalists, photographers, and journalists regularly have to evolve
with.
Oblinger and Oblinger again address this today s college students, the Net Gen , have grown up with
technology they have the latest computer, software, programs, websites, phones, etc. Children and
youth today average more time spent on digital media than watching TV. Today s Net Gen also
expects up to date technology in their learning process, and expect their professors to have knowledge
of the technology similar to theirs (Oblinger and Oblinger, 2005).
Photojournalism today epitomizes the multimedia function photojournalists are required to perform
multiple duties rather than just take pictures. Instead, they are both taking the pictures while also
writing the story, taking video, and uploading to social media. Despite the constant addition of duties,
staffers are expected to perform them all in less time than they were previously expected to perform
one duty. Education in video, audio, photography, writing, and social media is imperative for the
future photojournalist, and with skills in all of these sets, a photojournalist will be more of an asset to
the employer than one who has only one or two of these skill sets. Specialized focuses in
photojournalism education should also be

Forward Integration And Vertical Integration
Netflix could profit in the growth and opportunities that vertical integration would provide in the
future of the company. Vertical integration is visible when two companies or organizations at various
stages of production merge together (OccupyTheroy, 2015). The main goal of vertical integration is to
increase the overall efficiency and to reduce costs all throughout the supply chain, thus improving
business competitiveness and profitability (OccupyTherroy, 2015). There are two types of vertical
integration which are forward integration and backward integration. Forward integration is when a
company at the beginning of the supply chain controls changes farther along and backward integration

The Choral Poem In The Alchemist
The Choral Poem called The Alchemist has a comparable theme as the book The Alchemist because
they both reflect the importance of taking something simple and transform it not to something better
although the best version of itself. Its to say as Turning lead into gold. To further explanation, it means
to Transforms something useless into something indispensable. In addition to that, When an
individuals strive to become better than they were, everything around them becomes better too. The
theme of the poem and the book encourage humanity that If humanity recognize that they could be
better then become better, don t settle. Don t be the same. Be better.
Furthermore,In the book, Santiago reflects the theme in many different ways. One way in which
Santiago reflects the theme is when he meets the crystal merchant and helped him in the shop so much
that it became the best crystal shop ever. According to the Merchant on page 54, Santiago has changed
this life and himself to the best version of themselves. For instance, in the book, it says, Crystal
Merchant: I ve had this shop for thirty years. I know good crystal from bad, and everything else there
is to know about crystal. I know its dimensions and how it behaves. If we serve tea in the crystal, the
shop is going to expand. And then I ll have to change my way of life. / Boy: Well, isn t that good? /
Crystal Merchant: I m already used to the way things are. Before you came, I was thinking about how
much time I had wasted in the same place, while my friends had moved on, and either went bankrupt
or did better than they had before. It made me very depressed. Now, I can see that it hasn t been too
bad. The shop is exactly the size I always wanted it to be. I don t want to change anything, because I
don t know how to deal with change. I m used to the way I am. The boy didn t know what to say. The
old man continued, You have been a real blessing to me. Today, I understand something I didn t see
before: every blessing ignored becomes a curse. I don t want anything else in life. But you are forcing
me to look at wealth and horizons I have never known. Now that I have seen them, and now that I see

Analysis of Judith H. Dobrzynski´s High Culture Goes...
Judith H. Dobrzynski s article, High Culture Goes Hands On, suggests that the museums current trend
of providing visitors with an experience threatens the current model of providing solace and
inspiration (Dobrzynski 3). However, I disagree with this conclusion. Interactive experiences and
contemplative approaches can co exist just so long as museums adjust in response to how our ever
evolving culture receives it. Transitioning from museums elitist paradigm is critical to creating a more
accessible community conscious design. Dobrzynski, on the other hand, views these differences as
shedding the very characteristics that made [art museums] so special (1), a pessimistic sentiment that
shows her contempt towards development.
Before we can assess the roles of a museum, what exactly is the institution? Didier Maleuvre explains
museums as, devoted to the protection, preservation, exhibition, and furtherance of what a community
agrees to identify as works of art (Maleuvre 9). As we develop new modes of interaction and
technological advancements, are museums that provide interactive experiences and art works not
included in this explanation? I certainly do not think so. Audience engagement should not be feared
but promoted; the trouble, though, is finding the right balance. Maleuvre also believes that it was the
museum s responsibility to challenge the status quo, and its own cultural identity, which, provides
further cause for change as museums have moved away from

The Narrative Style Of Angela Merkel, Chancellor Of Germany
Narrative intelligent leaders are significant to organizations, as they lead by storytelling, they are
simultaneously influencing others through trust and communication. The purpose of this
communication analysis is to highlight and describe how the narrative leader style of Angela Merkel,
Chancellor of Germany, ultimately inspires her followers. First, it will provide insight by outlining her
narrative approach based on her speeches, presentations, and podcasts in addition to, the literature
available in narrative communication and leadership. Next, it will delineate the strengths of her
communication style thus enhancing her narrative method. Then, the focus will shift to bring attention
to potential areas of improvement to the narrative approach. Finally, this analysis will conclude with
recommendations which in turn will refine her delivery, aid in conveying her intended message, and
ultimately enrich her narrative intelligent leadership style.
Narrative Communication
Narrative Intelligence is the capacity to understand the world, being familiar with the multi
dimensions of narratives, to know different patterns of stories exist, to know which narrative patterns
are likely to have what effect in which situation, knowing how to overcome the fundamental
attribution error, and understand the audience s story. Narrative intelligence has been undeniably
dynamic in the leadership style of Chancellor Merkel. Her experiences growing up in East Berlin were

Essay on Evolution of Dogs
The grey wolf has been transformed into what we, today, call a dog. After years of traveling with
humans, the wolf began to change and became adapted and tame enough to socialize with humans.
The environment it was placed into was one of the causes for change, and another was the role it
played for humans. The most likely scenario for wolves beginning to coexist with humans is that a
human hunting party came across a very young wolf cub and decided to take it with them. The wolf
cub would have been very puppy like at an early age. The reason that humans would ever take a wolf
cub is because the cub would be seen as a valuable resource to humans back then. The wolf cub would
become a sort of tool for humans since it is a better tracker, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Back then, the wolf like dogs would have been used for hunting thanks to their amazing hearing and
excellent smell. These traits would help the hunters tremendously. The hunters also used them as
guard dogs for their livestock. Also, if the hunters were ever attacked by an enemy, the wolf like dogs
would have come in very handy as another warrior on the battle field since wolves are faster and
stronger than humans. Having a loyal animal is useful in many ways when the world used to be wild
and untamed. Plus, the lack of technology in the past would make it seem that a tamed animal would
equal that of a machine. After years of selective breeding and taming, the hunters finally came across
some wolves that were able to listen to commands and do what they were ordered to do. These wolves
did not look like the first ones with which humans came into contact. Their size, coloring, senses and
even the length of their coat or swimming ability reflected the environment in which they lived. These
environments could have ranged from anything since hunters do not stay in one place for very long.
These wolves probably did not reflect their gray ancestors much anymore. The color of their coat
could have become brown, black, or even yellow depending on where they were taken. Their size
could have been affected, too, depending on how the hunters had used them they could have shrunken
to the size

Loyalty In The Song Of Roland
The social class of a Western Medieval citizen played a significant role in the attitudes and behaviors
one was expected to maintain. Honor and glory were brought to those who knew their place in society
and never strayed from it. Nobility were no exception to this as we can see in the case of Roland, a
great knight whose life is portrayed in The Song of Roland. The setting of Roland s life is during the
Carolinian era during the battle of Roncevaux between France and the Islamic people. The unknown
author of this epic poem portrays Roland as a near faultless man who is able to uphold the duties of
knighthood and sustain his place in the feudalistic society. We can see many examples of him acting as
a perfect knight throughout the book until his honorable death. The first instance of Roland s
knighthood is seen in his loyalty to King Charles of France. Roland is so trusted by the King that he
sits by him and even advises him saying Woe the day you trust Marsile! (pg. 8) in regards to a
proposed treaty. The warning he gives proves to be accurate, proving his intellect and great war
strategy abilities. Roland also honors the when he fought in his name against the Saracens saying We

The fact that he takes part in the counseling of the King and is trusted as the leader of the rear guard,
shows that his wartime skills were highly revered. Even the enemies of Roland admit his skill such as

Blancandrin who says Very fell is Roland, who would make every nation cry him mercy, and who
challenges all lands (pg.16). We see his horsemanship and fighting ability when he rides the pass of
Spain on his swift horse Veillantif (pg.47) and when he wields his sword Durendal and killed many of

August Wilson s Century Cycle Analysis
August Wilson has been called by many one of the best playwrights of all time. August Wilson s
Century Cycle was sometimes referred to as the Pittsburgh Cycle. The Century Cycle has been
acknowledged as one of August Wilson s greatest works. The Pittsburgh Cycle was his series of ten
plays that charts the African American experience throughout the twentieth century. All of them were
set in Pittsburgh s Hill District except for Ma Rainey s Black Bottom, which was set in Chicago
(August Wilson). Each play was set in a different decade throughout the 20th century. These plays
showed the changing social and historical landscape of black America over 100 years (10 Plays, 100
Years Playwright August Wilson Reveals the History of a Community (From the Playbill)).
Wilson once said, I think the blues is the best literature that we as blacks have created since we ve
been here, and it s a lot of philosophical ideas. I call it our sacred book (Dyson). This genre of music
was created in the south of the United States by African Americans in the late 1800 s. The blues give
lyrical shape to the hurts and affections that stymie and transform black life. The blues tap comedy to
temper tragedy and to tame the absurd (Dyson). The blues music was popular among slaves living in
the deep south.
August Wilson stated around 20 years ago that he believes America doesn t need color blind casting. I
don t think his opposition to color blind casting is racist. I agree with his reasoning behind his opinion
to a certain extent. Wilson said that he opposes casting any blacks in roles written for whites and that
it detracts from the humanity of the actor. Likewise, I would be opposed to casting whites in my plays
(Shirley). However, I also agree with a statement made by Ambush saying he appreciates the historical
underpinnings of his assumptions and his arguments. Nonetheless, Ambush believes that minority
actors should be able to play roles designed for whites as long as it is color conscious or culture
conscious casting instead of colorblind. According to this policy, directors can cast nontraditionally
but should not pretend that an actor s race does not matter (Shirley). I think casting based on race
depends on the role

Russell Williams
Psycology
With regards to psychology there are many different theories and perspectives of the human mind
however, I will be focusing on Sigmund Freud s theory of human behavior. Freud believed that human
behaviour is driven by desires and the suppression of the same desires . Concerning the case of Col.
Russell Williams, he was a paraphilic; he stole lingerie and then took photographs of the women he
sexually assaulted. According to Freud s theory of human behavior, Williams did not possess the
ability to control his desires. He started off as a voyeur , but somehow transformed into a perverted
sex offender with a dark fixation for violence. Sigmund Freud compared the mind to an iceberg.

Marie France Comeau. The act he committed was more than just murder; it expressed his inner
desired for violent sexual control over women. Underneath Russell Williams exterior of success and
loyalty lay a dark appetite for power, control and superiority over women that eventually obliterated
the lives of Marie France Comeau and Jessica Lloyd. said Ian MacLeod from the Ottawa Citizen.
From the perspective of a feminist, Williams actions urge for greater awareness and advocacy to stop
the sexualized violence as well as the degradation of women across Canada and the world. It is too
easy to dismiss Williams acts as those of a deranged man and to perceive no need further response. If
anything, the Williams case must call us all to greater awareness and advocacy to end all sexualized
violence and degradation of women. said Alice Schuda.
There are various factors that may have occurred throughout Williams s life that could thoroughly
account for his sexually deviant behaviour. The feeling of male dominance such as his father or a
military superior could have led Russell to express his infuriation and dominance on the opposite sex.
Consequently, his inadmissible behaviour initiates friction between genders; this represents a feminist
theory of female maltreatment. During childhood, Russell Williams may have come across neglect
from a female care giver, which may have had an influence on his bizarre and sexually violent

First semester, I was slightly active through intramural volleyball and working out, but this semester

about working out. After recruitment was over, I told myself that I would work out once I figured out

Public Transportation In The Kitchener-Waterloo Region
Public transportation has come to be something that many people of all backgrounds, ages, and
statuses rely on. Without public transportation, it would be very hard for many to get around,
especially students. It really is hard to imagine a world without public transportation, however, there
once was a time.
Before 1886, there was no public transportation in the Kitchener Waterloo region, then known as the
Berlin Waterloo region, before Berlin was renamed to Kitchener. Without your own means of
transportation, likely a horse drawn vehicle, you would have to travel by foot, meaning you probably
could not travel too far. However, when horse drawn streetcars were brought to the region, this all
changed for the residents.
The Berlin and Waterloo Street Railway Company was established in 1886 and finally opened its
railway in 1888. The original line ran along King Street to Cedar Street (now known as Bridgeport
Road) and also branched out to the Grand Trunk Railway Station. The line spanned about 4km and
had a half hour service. There were eight cars and 17 horses, as well as three covered sleighs for bad
winter weather, meaning the service was year round. This streetcar service greatly improved the lives
of many living in the city, as it was an easier and less expensive way to get around (footnote).

This led to the abandonment of streetcars and the reduction of lines in the city, going down to only
11km of coverage by 1942. Unfortunately, this was the beginning of the end of the streetcars in the
Kitchener Waterloo region. On December 27, 1946, a severe winter storm hit the area causing
extensive damage to both the lines and rails. Ironically enough, the railway had been scheduled to
close just four days later on December 31, so the costs to repair were not justifiable, and trolleys went
into service not long after to replace the streetcars, along with the introduction of the bus lines a few

Television News vs. Newspaper
Television news vs. Newspaper When it comes to finding about the news of what s going on in our
world, we want details and facts. We want the juice of what s actually going on. The debate between
the efficiency of newspapers and TV news, TV news is a lot more effective.
Watching the news on TV is a lot easier for people to understand and is more convenient than reading
it on paper. For the people who are always in a rush in the morning, it s more convenient to turn on the
TV and listen to what s going on rather than trying to read a paper because it will only slow your task

The smallest story could be the most important; but if you have a newspaper, you won t be able to find
out what s going on, so you ll have to rely on the TV news to tell you what you want to know. TV
offers more options of news. People are mostly fond of making choices. Watching TV can satisfy this
requirement. Because there are many channels for options on news, for example, ABC7 channel news
doesn t provide you the news you want to know about, then you can always change the channel. But
the newspaper is published by one publication. Whatever information is on there is what you have to
stick with. The point of view and the news are somehow limited and prejudice. So in order to get a
comprehensive view, people can try many different channels to get an understanding.
Unlike the TV news, newspaper are portable and has no time limited, this has the advantages that
people can read them whenever they want. But I believe that getting news from TVs is due to its
efficiency, convenience and easy understanding is a lot better than just reading the

like, in Arthur Miller s book , The Crucible ,people in Salem would put fungus, unknowingly, into

for the girls action in the Salem Witch Trials is fungus because the townspeople act strangely, the cold

Essay On Personal Reflection
Introduction Learning and participating in workshops provides one with an opportunity to gain
knowledge. The knowledge gained is beneficial to the individual when put into practice, otherwise,
that knowledge is futile. However, one can only apply the information gained through better
information processing and synthesis. One of the approaches used in evaluating the effectiveness of
the information gained involves undertaking an in depth personal reflection. The purpose of this
investigation is to conduct an in depth personal reflection on one area of personal strength emanating
from the workshops carried out throughout the year. Definition of Personal Strength To evaluate one s
strengths, one needs to undertake a range of tests. Already, there exist a plethora of approaches to
evaluate the strengths within oneself. Some of these tests include personal intuitions and preferences.
However, undertaking a professional evaluation is important to ensure consistency. One of the most
important tools to evaluate one s personal strengths is the Myers Briggs Type Indicators (Bower 2015;
Culp Smith 2009; Das Sharma, 2015). In particular, this evaluation protocol allows an individual to
see the person within other than the behavior. Primarily, the inner personality influences the outward
behavior. Moreover, the environment plays an important role in the behavioral approach.
Consequently, performing a focused investigation provides a better evaluation metric. Furthermore,
the Myers Briggs Type Indicator allows an individual to conceptualize both internal and external
factors and the decisions made under such environments. After a careful evaluation, I have realized
that organization or orderliness is my personal strength. In part, planning plays a central role in most
of the decisions made (Cui Wu 2016). Essentially, I feel that whenever the time is spent on the
planning stage, the implementation and evaluation of a process become easier. However, failure to
plan leads to delays in the implementation process. Particularly, a lot of delays in the implementation
process are attributable to the order of activities. In other cases, people try to undertake more than one
activity simultaneously as a time saving strategy.

Prior to this, there were even excavators whose arms and its mechanism for digging were run by
cables, running along pulley systems. Excavators have a wide variety of uses and can be customized
to fit the desired job. The customization of an excavator involves changing of the bucket or adding
hydraulic attachments. The standard bucket can be changed with various sizes of different types of

Excavators are used in digging of trenches, holes for foundations beams, general construction or even

forestry works which entails timber handling and prune off work; metal recycling which involves slag

The Long Before Detroit Became A Powerhouse
In 1950 Detroit s population reached an all time high. The city was booming with the help of the
Automotive industry. Underneath the excitement and prosperity, greater powers were taking effect,
permanently changing this region. These outside influences are what fostered Detroit s rise to power as
well as its great demise. Long before Detroit became a powerhouse, events were taking effect that
would have a clear ripple effect in later years. As early as 1916 African Americans were heading

The IFRS is a financial reporting system was established in an attempt to maintain stability throughout the financial community. Despite the conflicts with other countries accounting systems, the IFRS attempts to organize one financial standard system for businesses to report their financial statements. This article examines the relationship between domestic and global standards of accounting. The concept of developing a modern accounting standard in the Czech Republic, implies that most companies in that country are not willing to change their accounting standards. Throughout the history of the Czech Republic s accounting standards, companies were only obligated to maintain a uniform account and accounting charts for specific sectors. The system only consisted of a balance sheet to summarize assets and liabilities, and an income statement to recognize costs and revenues. The guidelines for each corporation relates to the directives and regulations of the company s statistics, costing, budgeting and management of stocks. New Zealand Cultural And Ethical Consideration Essay New Zealand Cultural and Ethical consideration For the ethical considerations the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (n.d.) summarized that there are three basic ethical principles relevant to research involving human subjects. The three things stated by the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (n.d.) are respect for persons, beneficence and justice. For the respect for the person each individual should be treated as autonomous agents as such the researcher should ensure that the participants of the research received a full disclosure of the nature of the study, risk, benefits and alternatives with a decent opportunity to ask questions. For the ones with diminished authority or those with either their mental or physical faculties are limited. They should not be forced to participate in the research. For the beneficence the researcher should maximize the benefits of the study while limiting the negative effects on the participants. For the justice part of ethics there should be fairness in the distribution of participants and there should be equitable selection off participants. For justice the researcher should not withhold any benefit the person should be entitled without any god reason. Every week my teacher would give us a lengthy list of vocabulary words that we had to memorize before our spelling test the following week. I would study for periods at a time trying to memorize this gruesome lists of words, that I could never commemorate. When it came down to the day of the test I would see all my classmates at ease, while I would panic trying to remember what I studied. When it finally became time to take the test, I heard the teacher call the word island , but I couldn t concentrate. I was frustrated, I couldn t think, the teacher would ask is everyone ready to move on , but I wouldn t say anything, because I was too shy. After a couple of days I would get my score back, and wasn t surprised when I found out that I had failed the test. Weekley this was recurring theme when I got my spelling test returned. Eventually, I accepted the fact that reading and writing was not for me. Although my second grade experience was terrible, my third grade year gave me an experience that I never had with literacy. My teacher Mrs. Quinn, would give us a list of vocabulary words, but instead of us memorizing them, we would have to create a story using these words. This opened my eyes to a component of literacy that I never explored. I had total creative freedom, something that I wasn t familiar with. The first set of words, was over ... • 9. Comparing Attentional Capture By Rare And Constant, Novel,... Attentional Capture by Rare and Constant, Novel, Sudden Onset Stimuli Samuel Tong (450472150) ABSTRACT Novel and rare sudden onset stimuli are known to attract attention in different situations. Previously Yantis Jonides (1990) have shown novel sudden onsets capture attention mainly when attention is diffuse, and Neo Chua (2006) have shown rare sudden onsets capture attention so long as attention is not already pre deployed to a stationary target. The current study aims to examine the interaction between rarity of a novel, sudden onset and attention pre deployment by cues or stationary targets, and how this interaction affects the attentional capture of novel sudden onsets. In doing so, a better understanding of how these stimuli affect attentional processes may be established. Based upon the experimental findings, it is proposed that when a sudden onset stimulus is both rare and novel, the attentional capture processes when perceiving these stimuli are influenced by perceptual load and modes of attention. Implications of these findings are discussed further in the paper. Attentional Capture by Rare and Constant Novel Sudden Onset Stimuli Attentional capture is controlled by top down, goal orientated processes, or by bottom up, stimulus orientated processes (Wolfe, 1994, as cited by Emerson Kramer, 1997). Militarism was used for building a strong military and in order for that country to have its interests dominate the government. In the past, war was seen as something that was acceptable to solve conflicts and enhance a country. Some examples of imperialism include: naval arms race between Great Britain and Germany. Nationalism is a strong feeling of loyalty and protection of culture and need of ethnic group to have a country that is their own. Alliances are countries that form cooperative groups in order to protect everyone s interests. Monsters (e.g., vampires, werewolves, zombies, witches, and mermaids) are, sometimes, cultural metaphors; they reflect culture issues. • 19. The Divine Command Theory ( Dct ) A shift in philosophy from a relativist point of view to a moral perspective brought about several new revolutionary ideas. One particular theory that is hotly debated is the divine command theory (DCT). This controversial idea essentially says that God is the boss. It proposes that God decides what is moral and good, and therefore how we should be acting. It is a relationship between two claims, one of which God commands, and as a result the other is what is right. Many people and philosophers, such as the greatly influential 18th century thinker Emmanuel Kant, disapprove of it because it is relatable only to highly specific groups. The Divine Command Theory can be a useful guidance for those who are religious, however, I believe that this spiritual theory is not a wise guidance to follow. The simple divine command theory is centered around the belief in God. If you do not believe in God, then this theory cannot apply to you. It claims that morality is completely dependent on God. Under the DCT, the morally right action is the one God commands or requires (IEP). For those who are religious, this philosophy is a very easy way to live because it is extraordinarily simple. It doesn t force any sort of mental activity or personal beliefs; you purely live according to what God says is right. It calls into question the very study of ethics. • 27. The Choral Poem In The Alchemist The Choral Poem called The Alchemist has a comparable theme as the book The Alchemist because they both reflect the importance of taking something simple and transform it not to something better although the best version of itself. Its to say as Turning lead into gold. To further explanation, it means to Transforms something useless into something indispensable. In addition to that, When an individuals strive to become better than they were, everything around them becomes better too. The theme of the poem and the book encourage humanity that If humanity recognize that they could be better then become better, don t settle. Don t be the same. Be better. Furthermore,In the book, Santiago reflects the theme in many different ways. One way in which Santiago reflects the theme is when he meets the crystal merchant and helped him in the shop so much that it became the best crystal shop ever. According to the Merchant on page 54, Santiago has changed this life and himself to the best version of themselves. For instance, in the book, it says, Crystal Merchant: I ve had this shop for thirty years. I know good crystal from bad, and everything else there is to know about crystal. I know its dimensions and how it behaves. If we serve tea in the crystal, the shop is going to expand. And then I ll have to change my way of life. / Boy: Well, isn t that good? / Crystal Merchant: I m already used to the way things are. Before you came, I was thinking about how much time I had wasted in the same place, while my friends had moved on, and either went bankrupt or did better than they had before. It made me very depressed. Now, I can see that it hasn t been too bad. The shop is exactly the size I always wanted it to be. I don t want to change anything, because I don t know how to deal with change. I m used to the way I am. The boy didn t know what to say. The old man continued, You have been a real blessing to me. Today, I understand something I didn t see before: every blessing ignored becomes a curse. I don t want anything else in life. But you are forcing me to look at wealth and horizons I have never known. Now that I have seen them, and now that I see how immense my possibilities are, I m going to feel worse than I ... • 28. Analysis of Judith H. Dobrzynski´s High Culture Goes... Judith H. Dobrzynski s article, High Culture Goes Hands On, suggests that the museums current trend of providing visitors with an experience threatens the current model of providing solace and inspiration (Dobrzynski 3). However, I disagree with this conclusion. Interactive experiences and contemplative approaches can co exist just so long as museums adjust in response to how our ever evolving culture receives it. Transitioning from museums elitist paradigm is critical to creating a more accessible community conscious design. Dobrzynski, on the other hand, views these differences as shedding the very characteristics that made [art museums] so special (1), a pessimistic sentiment that shows her contempt towards development. Before we can assess the roles of a museum, what exactly is the institution? Didier Maleuvre explains museums as, devoted to the protection, preservation, exhibition, and furtherance of what a community agrees to identify as works of art (Maleuvre 9). As we develop new modes of interaction and technological advancements, are museums that provide interactive experiences and art works not included in this explanation? I certainly do not think so. Audience engagement should not be feared but promoted; the trouble, though, is finding the right balance. Maleuvre also believes that it was the museum s responsibility to challenge the status quo, and its own cultural identity, which, provides further cause for change as museums have moved away from ... • 30. Essay on Evolution of Dogs The grey wolf has been transformed into what we, today, call a dog. After years of traveling with humans, the wolf began to change and became adapted and tame enough to socialize with humans. The environment it was placed into was one of the causes for change, and another was the role it played for humans. The most likely scenario for wolves beginning to coexist with humans is that a human hunting party came across a very young wolf cub and decided to take it with them. The wolf cub would have been very puppy like at an early age. The reason that humans would ever take a wolf cub is because the cub would be seen as a valuable resource to humans back then. The wolf cub would become a sort of tool for humans since it is a better tracker, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Back then, the wolf like dogs would have been used for hunting thanks to their amazing hearing and excellent smell. These traits would help the hunters tremendously. The hunters also used them as guard dogs for their livestock. Also, if the hunters were ever attacked by an enemy, the wolf like dogs would have come in very handy as another warrior on the battle field since wolves are faster and stronger than humans. Having a loyal animal is useful in many ways when the world used to be wild and untamed. Plus, the lack of technology in the past would make it seem that a tamed animal would equal that of a machine. After years of selective breeding and taming, the hunters finally came across some wolves that were able to listen to commands and do what they were ordered to do. These wolves did not look like the first ones with which humans came into contact. Their size, coloring, senses and even the length of their coat or swimming ability reflected the environment in which they lived. These environments could have ranged from anything since hunters do not stay in one place for very long. These wolves probably did not reflect their gray ancestors much anymore. The color of their coat could have become brown, black, or even yellow depending on where they were taken. Their size could have been affected, too, depending on how the hunters had used them they could have shrunken to the size ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Loyalty In The Song Of Roland The social class of a Western Medieval citizen played a significant role in the attitudes and behaviors one was expected to maintain. Honor and glory were brought to those who knew their place in society and never strayed from it. Nobility were no exception to this as we can see in the case of Roland, a great knight whose life is portrayed in The Song of Roland. The setting of Roland s life is during the Carolinian era during the battle of Roncevaux between France and the Islamic people. The unknown author of this epic poem portrays Roland as a near faultless man who is able to uphold the duties of knighthood and sustain his place in the feudalistic society. We can see many examples of him acting as a perfect knight throughout the book until his honorable death. The first instance of Roland s knighthood is seen in his loyalty to King Charles of France. Roland is so trusted by the King that he sits by him and even advises him saying Woe the day you trust Marsile! (pg. 8) in regards to a proposed treaty. The warning he gives proves to be accurate, proving his intellect and great war strategy abilities. • 32. August Wilson s Century Cycle Analysis August Wilson has been called by many one of the best playwrights of all time. August Wilson s Century Cycle was sometimes referred to as the Pittsburgh Cycle. The Century Cycle has been acknowledged as one of August Wilson s greatest works. The Pittsburgh Cycle was his series of ten plays that charts the African American experience throughout the twentieth century. All of them were set in Pittsburgh s Hill District except for Ma Rainey s Black Bottom, which was set in Chicago (August Wilson). Each play was set in a different decade throughout the 20th century. These plays showed the changing social and historical landscape of black America over 100 years (10 Plays, 100 Years Playwright August Wilson Reveals the History of a Community (From the Playbill)). Wilson once said, I think the blues is the best literature that we as blacks have created since we ve been here, and it s a lot of philosophical ideas. I call it our sacred book (Dyson). This genre of music was created in the south of the United States by African Americans in the late 1800 s. The blues give lyrical shape to the hurts and affections that stymie and transform black life. The blues tap comedy to temper tragedy and to tame the absurd (Dyson). The blues music was popular among slaves living in the deep south. August Wilson stated around 20 years ago that he believes America doesn t need color blind casting. I don t think his opposition to color blind casting is racist. I agree with his reasoning behind his opinion to a certain extent. Wilson said that he opposes casting any blacks in roles written for whites and that it detracts from the humanity of the actor. Likewise, I would be opposed to casting whites in my plays (Shirley). However, I also agree with a statement made by Ambush saying he appreciates the historical underpinnings of his assumptions and his arguments. Nonetheless, Ambush believes that minority actors should be able to play roles designed for whites as long as it is color conscious or culture conscious casting instead of colorblind. According to this policy, directors can cast nontraditionally but should not pretend that an actor s race does not matter (Shirley). I think casting based on race depends on the role ... Russell Williams Psycology With regards to psychology there are many different theories and perspectives of the human mind however, I will be focusing on Sigmund Freud s theory of human behavior. Freud believed that human behaviour is driven by desires and the suppression of the same desires . Concerning the case of Col. Russell Williams, he was a paraphilic; he stole lingerie and then took photographs of the women he sexually assaulted. According to Freud s theory of human behavior, Williams did not possess the ability to control his desires. The act he committed was more than just murder; it expressed his inner desired for violent sexual control over women. Underneath Russell Williams exterior of success and loyalty lay a dark appetite for power, control and superiority over women that eventually obliterated the lives of Marie France Comeau and Jessica Lloyd. said Ian MacLeod from the Ottawa Citizen. From the perspective of a feminist, Williams actions urge for greater awareness and advocacy to stop the sexualized violence as well as the degradation of women across Canada and the world. It is too easy to dismiss Williams acts as those of a deranged man and to perceive no need further response. If anything, the Williams case must call us all to greater awareness and advocacy to end all sexualized violence and degradation of women. said Alice Schuda. There are various factors that may have occurred throughout Williams s life that could thoroughly account for his sexually deviant behaviour. The feeling of male dominance such as his father or a military superior could have led Russell to express his infuriation and dominance on the opposite sex. Consequently, his inadmissible behaviour initiates friction between genders; this represents a feminist theory of female maltreatment. Without public transportation, it would be very hard for many to get around, especially students. It really is hard to imagine a world without public transportation, however, there once was a time. Before 1886, there was no public transportation in the Kitchener Waterloo region, then known as the Berlin Waterloo region, before Berlin was renamed to Kitchener. Without your own means of transportation, likely a horse drawn vehicle, you would have to travel by foot, meaning you probably could not travel too far. However, when horse drawn streetcars were brought to the region, this all changed for the residents. The Berlin and Waterloo Street Railway Company was established in 1886 and finally opened its railway in 1888. The original line ran along King Street to Cedar Street (now known as Bridgeport Road) and also branched out to the Grand Trunk Railway Station. The line spanned about 4km and had a half hour service. There were eight cars and 17 horses, as well as three covered sleighs for bad winter weather, meaning the service was year round. This streetcar service greatly improved the lives of many living in the city, as it was an easier and less expensive way to get around (footnote). Through the ... Watching the news on TV is a lot easier for people to understand and is more convenient than reading it on paper. • 39. Essay On Personal Reflection Introduction Learning and participating in workshops provides one with an opportunity to gain knowledge. The knowledge gained is beneficial to the individual when put into practice, otherwise, that knowledge is futile. However, one can only apply the information gained through better information processing and synthesis. One of the approaches used in evaluating the effectiveness of the information gained involves undertaking an in depth personal reflection. The purpose of this investigation is to conduct an in depth personal reflection on one area of personal strength emanating from the workshops carried out throughout the year. Definition of Personal Strength To evaluate one s strengths, one needs to undertake a range of tests. Already, there exist a plethora of approaches to evaluate the strengths within oneself. Some of these tests include personal intuitions and preferences. However, undertaking a professional evaluation is important to ensure consistency. One of the most important tools to evaluate one s personal strengths is the Myers Briggs Type Indicators (Bower 2015; Culp Smith 2009; Das Sharma, 2015). In particular, this evaluation protocol allows an individual to see the person within other than the behavior. Primarily, the inner personality influences the outward behavior. Moreover, the environment plays an important role in the behavioral approach. Consequently, performing a focused investigation provides a better evaluation metric. Furthermore, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator allows an individual to conceptualize both internal and external factors and the decisions made under such environments. After a careful evaluation, I have realized that organization or orderliness is my personal strength. In part, planning plays a central role in most of the decisions made (Cui Wu 2016). Essentially, I feel that whenever the time is spent on the planning stage, the implementation and evaluation of a process become easier. However, failure to plan leads to delays in the implementation process. Particularly, a lot of delays in the implementation process are attributable to the order of activities. In other cases, people try to undertake more than one activity simultaneously as a time saving strategy. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
