Examples Of Parenthood In The Destructors
The lack of parenthood in The Destructors is the primary reason the boys in the gang have the
dark streak that is seen in their endeavors. The effects of war and the class change contribute, but
both ultimately tie back in to the root of the problem the parents. Most boys grow up with a
curiosity, a knack for getting into trouble, and a longing to mess with what they shouldn t; these
attributes are definitely present in the boys in the gang. Children should be raised by parents that
teach them right from wrong so this curiosity, while it may still be present, is contained to a limit
that is acceptable. The problem is that these boys didn t grow up with this type of parenting
because they experienced little to no parenting at all. Their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

is unique in this way because his darkness is deeper than the others, as seen in his fixation with
Mr. Thomas s house. One known fact about T. that is different from the others, is that his family
came down after the war. Specifically, his father went from being an architect to a clerk. This
change in occupation is one reason why T. is so fixated on the house. He is bitter about the war,
his father s demotion, and the class change. He sees that this house survived a war he did not
and wants to tear it down as his family had been. This is seen as T. is giving orders after he
assumes leadership in the destruction of the house. It says that it was as though this plan had
been with him all his life...crystallized with the pain of puberty. (70) The quote fortifies how he
wants justice for what he has been through and that he never got to grow up as a child. He was
forced to grow up quicker than he should have because of the war and his class change. The word
pain brings out a sharpness to what he felt and went through. It provides the reader with a
connection to T. that wouldn t be there

Ensemble Vagabond s The Rite Of Spring
Ensemble Vagabond s debut performance of The Rite of Spring changed the history of Igor
Stravinsky s outrageous ballet. Arranged for Winds and Piano, Peter Facer has taken this
momentous piece to an entirely new level. With the Callaway Music Auditorium at maximum
capacity, Vagabond strode confidently onstage to roaring applause to give the performance of a
lifetime. Adam Mikulicz s bassoon solo to open the piece captured the audience while Emily
Clements added colour and ornamentation with both the flute and piccolo. Jodie Upton on clarinet
and Peter Facer on the oboe encompassed style, texture and timbre which broadened the sound of
this small ensemble. Conducting on the side, Facer kept the ensemble together in demanding
sections. Julia Brooke with her angelic horn sounded like an entire brass section packed into one
instrument and finally, Gladys Chua tied everything together with her outstanding... Show more

By swaying in the delicate phrases and jerking with the harsh ones, the performers became the
dancers in the ballet. They expressed different levels of emotion when required which reflected
their playing. Furthermore, the connection between these artists ensured an impeccable
performance. Seeing people look up and interact with each other reinforced their confidence and
helped the ensemble stay together. They moved and played together as one organism. Thus,
short notes were played identically by every person, creating sections of order in a piece of
pandemonium. As the piece ended, the performers smiled. Having put 7 years of work into this
score, they stood proudly and bowed. The audience erupted in applause. The Rite of Spring was
reborn as the performers were re invited on stage three times. Considering the already high
expectations of the performance and the applause they received, it is obvious this performance is

Opium Farming Informative Speech
General purpose: To inform. Specific Purpose: To inform the audience about the consequences
many Afghan families faced due to their poor decision to involve themselves into the dangerous
world of opium farming. Central idea: To achieve a full understanding of the Opium farming
situation we have to analyze the cause, the government s response, and the aftermath.
Introduction Please feel free to raise your hands to any of the following questions. How many of
you have children? For those who don t have children, does anyone think they re too young for

This put many families in debt. Families had to borrow opium seeds from cartels and give them

Death Penalty In America s Use Of Punishment
The death penalty is the lawful execution of a person for a crime. The first death penalty law goes
back to the eighteenth century and has been used in many cultures. It was also used in Greece as
the punishment for all crimes, Rome also adopted the death penalty. The methods of execution in
these times were crucifixion, drowning, impalement, and even burning alive. In Britain, hanging
was the most prominent method of execution. Over 200 different crimes were punishable by death.
However, in the eighteenth century 100 of the crimes were eliminated from the death penalty.
Britain was the primary influence on America s use of the death penalty. The death penalty has
been used in America for several different crimes, such as murder and treason.... Show more content

They reference a part of the Bible where God did not respond to murder with death, and in fact
took action to prevent his death: When Cain killed Abel, God did not end Cain s life. Instead, he
sent Cain into exile, not only sparing his life, but protecting it by putting a mark on Cain, lest
anyone should kill him on sight. (Gn 4:15). This raises a valid point to whether or not God
supports the death penalty. They also reference Pope John Paul II s call for the repeal of the
death penalty: The new evangelization calls for followers of Christ who are unconditionally pro
life: who will proclaim, celebrate and serve the Gospel of life in every situation. A sign of hope is
the increasing recognition that the dignity of human life must never be taken away, even in the
case of someone who has done great evil. . . . I renew the appeal I made . . . for a consensus to end
the death penalty, which is both cruel and unnecessary. While he wanted to abolish the death
penalty, he did not change the teachings of the Catholic church. In response to the Bible mandating
the death penalty in the old testament, they say that the coming of Christ marked the abolition of
the death

A Study On The And Properties Of Aluminium Alloys
CHAPTER 3 LITERATURE REVIEW
3.1 Introduction
The Al Zn Mg series aluminium alloys (7xxx) are the heat treatable alloys and widely applied as
large structural components in navigation and transportation facilities, due to good combination of
hardness, high strength and fracture toughness [1 6]. The use of Sc (scandium) to achieve grain
refinement has recently received great attention. The microstructures and properties of aluminium
alloys are strongly affected by adding small quantities of scandium. Scandium additions in excess of
0.55wt.% (i.e., hypereutectic) are very effective in grain refinement, suggesting that the primary
ScAl3 phase serves as an effective grain nucleant [7 9].
The effect of a Sc addition will of course depend on the composition of the alloy. The additions of
Sc in aluminium alloy appear to reduce hot tearing and shrinkage porosity. Hot shortness increase
with increase in Zn but decrease with increase in Mg content [10, 11]. The process of precipitation
in the Al Zn Mg alloy system is quite complex. The aged structure and the kinetics of ageing depend
on both the Zn and Mg concentration and the temperatures of solution and ageing treatments. As
the Sc contents increases within the specified solubility in the solid solution, the grains virtually do
not disintegrate. The maximum solubility of scandium increases from 0.35 to 0.6 wt.% [12, 13].
When the amount of scandium exceeds the eutectic content and, consequently, there appear primary
particles of

phenomenon is called a Near Death Experience. These moments or, Near Death Experiences,
leave people with something hard to find, it leaves them with a change of heart. Near Death
Experiences tend to include a rush of adrenaline, time slowing down, and a change of priorities,

The Pros And Cons Of Coffee
Coffee is one of the most popular beverages in the world and therefore is a popular commodity.
More than 2.25 billion cups of coffee are consumed every day. Over 90% of coffee is produced
in developing countries, and millions of small producers income comes from growing coffee.
Coffee is produced and exported mostly from South American countries, while mainly
industrialized countries are the ones importing the most coffee. Worldwide, 25 million small
producers rely on coffee for a living, and in Brazil, over 5 million people are employed by the
commodity. Brazil is the top country in exporting coffee and is where almost a third of the whole
world s production of coffee is. Coffee is a more labor intensive work culture than other
commodities like sugar cane or cattle because it is not automated work and requires attention.
It is a major export commodity and was the top agricultural export for 12 countries in 2004. It
was the second most valuable commodity exported by developing countries from 1970 to 2000.
World coffee production predicted for 2017/18 is 159 million bags which is the same as the last
year because lower output in Brazil is offset by higher production in Vietnam, Mexico, and
Indonesia and slight increases in other countries. World exports of green coffee are expected to
stay steady with 111 million bags. Global consumption is estimated to be a record 158 million
bags so ending inventories are expected to decrease to 34 million bags after being higher the
previous 5 years. The countries that exported the highest dollar value worth of coffee during the
year 2016 are Brazil, Vietnam, Columbia, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Indonesia. Brazil
accounted for 15.9% of total coffee exports, which was 5.2 billion dollars. Brazil s Arabica
output is forecast to drop 5.1 million bags to 40.5 million. Coffee trees in top growing regions in
Brazil, Southern Minas Gerais and Sao Paulo, have shown excellent development and growers
have intensified crop management, which are some of the reasons why Brazil produces so much
and exports coffee. There is also a lot of rainfall which has supported development. Vietnam
exported 4.7 billion dollars which was 10.5% of total world exports. Vietnam s production is

BASKETBALL
The American sport of basketball has come a long way since it was invented by
James Naismith in 1891. Originally, the game was played with a soccer ball and peach
baskets instead of a backboard and rim. There were no holes in the baskets and a ladder
was used to retrieve the ball if it did stay in the basket. There were about fifty
players on opposing teams and players who committed fouls were sent to a hockey like
penalty box. Today the game has changed tremendously and basketballhas become one
of the top three sports in North America. The game of basketball has been considerably polished. It

When Michael Jordan came on the scene, he
took basketball to a fantasy level. Nicknamed Air Jordan for his unique ability to soar
to great heights, he is considered as the greatest player who ever played the game.
Even if someone had never watched an NBA game, they would have heard of Jordan. He
overwhelmed the fans with his fade aways and amazed them with his dunks. He even
took basketball to the international scene.
He retired in 1999, it made the headlines in even the Japanese newspapers.
Even though he was a superstar of the game he did not do it by himself. In order to play
much more effectively, he must have team support. It is important to play as a
team and each player on the court has to make a contribution. Good, solid defensive plays
wins games, not just flashy moves by one player. It is also important to have a leader
on the team who is the like the MVP. They are the one who must motivate his team to
play to its potential. It is a MUST to have the right kind of attitude to be an outstanding
basketball player. You can t just proudly step onto the court, thinking you are the best
player. Even the best players in the NBA not only have the right attitude, but also work on
their weaknesses.
Most players also accumulate confidence from their coaches. Good coaches will
do almost anything to bring out the best in a player. They will always be willing to listen
and suggest ways to get you to play at high level. They will

Research Paper On Widdershins
Widdershins is the opposite direction as the path the sun appears to move in when viewed from the
Northern Hemisphere. It can also be spelt withershins, widershins, or widderschynnes. Widdershins
is also known as counterclockwise, anti clockwise, or lefthandwise and is considered the direction
opposite from the usual. Walking around something and always keeping it to your left is walking
in a widdershin motion. The German word widersinin ( against + sense ) shares the same origin as
widdershins. The Lowland Scots used the term commonly.
In Wicca and Paganism, widdershins is the opposite direction that a circle is cast; it is instead the
direction that the circle is closed. For sun worshiping traditions and cultures, widdershins appears to

It is such a strange word that doesn t really share origins or the general feel of its counterpart
deosil. The two are very easy to get switched around in your head; I have to imagine the hands on
a clock going from twelve to seven without passing six to make sure I have it correct. I once won
a round of a game called Balderdash because of the word widdershins. The game has odd and
archaic terms that the players have to write down plausible definitions of the word. One player then
reads out the written and real definitions and the others guess the correct one. I knew the term so I
automatically got points.
In conclusion, widdershins means counterclockwise. It is opposite as the apparent direction the sun
travels in the sky in the Northern Hemisphere. It is considered bad luck in folklore to travel
widdershins, especially around churches and fairy rings. It is sometimes viewed as negative,
wrong, or against the norm. To work with negative energy, to banish something, or to close a circle
are reasons to use widdershins in

Effectiveness And The Overall Perception Of The Police Force
A diverse society is a society in which there are different kinds of people, different races such as
black, white, Asian, Mexican etc. The concept of diversity involves acceptance and respect. It
means understanding that each individual is unique and recognising individual differences. These
can be along the dimensions of race, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, socio economic
status, physical abilities and religious beliefs.
Diversity in the police force is one of the most important aspects that should be looked at. This is
due to the outcome that it is most likely to have on the effectiveness and the overall perception
of the police force. Policing is one of the most vital requirements of a non violent living of
society. Policing can be seen as overseeing others ensuring that they keep to law and order. As a
result the most significant work of the police is to implement public orders and ensure that they
abide by the law. The police force is given the order of enforcing law in the society. It ensures
people to practice their individual rights but in doing so they do not obstruct with the rights of
others to practice their rights too.
The police force is also given responsibilities to oversee the public relationship. In servicing the
public, the police therefore are involved in an arrangement of activities that are meant to ensure a
supportive atmosphere of life in the public. In this regard, they adapt important functions like
management and directing of traffic,

Couponing Should Be Banned Essay
Couponing is a smart method to save money. While couponing is a great way to save money, is
it fair? Couponing takes a lot of time and most people choose not to bother and end up paying a
higher price for the exact same product at the same store. Should couponing even be legal? Price
discrimination is a factor at play when it comes to couponing. Customer rebates are another
questionable practice we will discuss as we delve into this topic of pricediscrimination, price

I am sure that is a lot stores slogans, but how often do you actually coupon? Most people that
coupon are looking for lower prices or a better deal, but aren t we all? Couponing is time
consuming and not everyone has the time to save the money they would like, and a person
could say that this is an unfair practice. Coupons are a very effective way to price discriminate.
Customers who are very responsive to price changes that is, customers with a very elastic
demand are likely to take time to find coupons that effectively lower the good s price. On the
other hand, customers less responsive to price changes because of their less elastic demand aren

only people who absolutely need to save money are the only ones who coupons, is that fair? One
would say that it is. If a person really wants to save money, they can clip coupons as well. The
couponing practice is not discriminatory as far as who can clip coupons, it is just discriminatory
as to who will actually do it. I, personally, should use more coupons, but the time it takes to clip

Violence On Violence And Violence In Video Games
Violence in Video Games
Violence, killing, blood, and drugs are just a few of the things kids see on their games everyday.
These things impact a child more than we realize. Many parents do not limit their child s screen
time, or monitor what they play. According to, Pamf.org, Part of the increase in aggressive
behavior is linked to the amount of time children are allowed to play video games and daily media
use by children is increasing significantly. . Media especially video games affects the behavior of
people in society.
Technology is a big thing in our world today and it will continue to grow. According to
nydailynews.com, The average American then spends another 32 minutes a day on time shifted
television, an hour using the Internet on a computer, an hour and seven minutes on a smartphone
and two hours, 46 minutes listening to the radio. . These numbers show that we revolve around
technology. While doing these daily tasks we may not realize how much violence we are actually
witnessing.
Video games were first introduced in the 1940 s and since then they have evolved greatly. A half
billion people on earth play video games an hour a day, of whom 183 million are American. In
fact, 97 percent of American young people ages 12 to 17 play video games (Jane McGonigal).
There is a huge number of young people that play video games daily, many whom play it way
longer than in hour. Video games are an everyday task to many people, but they do not realize the

coffee shop in 1971 in Seattle s historic Pike Place Market and grew. This small shop started out
as a single owner who the employees answered to which is known as departmentalization by
function and has now grown to be divided by territories known as geographic regions. This fortune

Starbucks began to experience financial problems in 2008 and 2009; this was mainly due to the

breakdown occurred or change could be implemented. Centralization and decentralization refer to
the degree of delegation of decision making, authority, and power within an organization (Reilly,
Minnick, Baack, 2011). The leadership should centralize power and decision making for the
operations as a whole. With Starbucks a large fortune 500 company with locations all over the

The Relevance Today of A Jury of Her Peers Essay
In quot;A Jury of Her Peers, quot; Susan Glaspell illustrates many social standards women
experienced at the turn of the century. She allows the reader to see how a woman s life was
completely ruled by social laws, and thus by her husband. Glaspell also reveals the ignorance of the
men in the story, in particular the sheriffand the county attorney. I think some examples are rather
extreme, but in Glaspell s day, they would have probably been common.
Women did not have many rights at the turn of the century. What few rights and freedoms they did
have were dominated by social standards. They were expected to cater to their husbands wishes and
commands. I think their society oppressed them more often than their own husbands did. A good...

The women seem to understand the hardships the men face, but feel that their own jobs are more
difficult. At that time, men, working outdoors, had set hours, whereas the women worked almost
all of the time they were awake.
The sheriff is particularly critical of Mrs. Wright. He does not consider her work to be of any
worth. He dismisses her concerns about her preserves as pointless, not taking into consideration
her time and effort put into them (Glaspell 264). He laughs about her wanting an apron while in
jail when she most likely wore an apron daily at home. The county attorney creates a mess of
pans under the sink by kicking them without any regard (Glaspell 264). I wonder if he would
appreciate someone entering his office with such little respect for his things? The deputy dirties
the hand towel, which leads to the county attorney complaining about Mrs. Wright s house
keeping (Glaspell 264). None of the men appreciate Mrs. Wright s efforts. They are oblivious to
her daily life whereas Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters realize what she had been put through. Only
when I realized this did I fully understand the title, quot;A Jury of Her Peers. quot; By protecting

Three Fifths Compromise Essay
There are a number of compromises that can be found in the U.S constitution, all having had a
major role in shaping what we all know today as the United States of America. With so many
important compromises it is hard to chose just one. That being said, the compromise which I intend
to discuss is the three fifths compromise. This compromise is important in our history and is a
pretty controversial matter.Three fifths compromise was important for both the northern and
southern states. The main question that was brought up for this subject was if slaves should be
counted in census to determine the number of congressional delegates a state should recieve. What
was the Three Fifths Compromise? It was an agreement between the north and the south... Show

As previously stated, the clause provides that representation in Congress will be based on the
whole number of free persons and three fifths of all other persons (Article 1 section 2 clause 3)
which referred to the slaves. According to Erik M. Jensen, professor of law, the popular
misunderstanding in regards to this provision is that it did not declare that African American
slaves were three fifths of a person but rather the provision was declaring that the slave states
would get extra representation in Congress for their slaves, even though those states treated
slaves only as property. Ultimately, this provision was not really about race but rather about
status and political power for the states. Something that some might not know is that free blacks
were not counted in the same way as slaves were. They were counted in the same way as all
white men. (The Root) The reason for this is because the clause did not say that a slave was three
fifth of a person also, the clause had nothing that involved free blacks. Instead, the clause gave us a
mathematical formula for the allocation of representatives in congress that factored in slave
population. Although slaves could not vote, free blacks could vote in some states. Long story
short, the cause did not provide a voice for the slaves but rather this was about the distribution of
political power in the

Name Change Controversy Research Paper
Race in America 2014: The Washington Redskins
The Washington, D.C. football team, known as the Redskins, has generated controversy for years
because of its name and mascot. Some say that the name should be changed because the term
redskin is a racial slur that denigrates Native Americans. Others, including team owner Dan Snyder,
insist that the name denotes only the football team s proud history, and that changing the name is
unnecessary.
In September of 2014, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, a satirical comedy news program, aired

The life that he once lived is shattered into pieces and he finds it difficult to return to his former
glorious self; this is the first time in Gilgamesh s life that he has ever felt the emotions of fear.
Gilgamesh is afraid to die. The inevitable fate that has plagued humanity for ages, death, has now
become the greatest barrier that he must overcome. The immense scope that separates death from
eternal life is breached, this crossover leads to a paramount connection between the supernatural
and mortal universe. Gilgamesh, two thirds god, and one third human is left at the intermediary.
His metamorphosis will establish a sense of restitution in his life. Along these lines, even though
Gilgamesh existed thousands of years ago, he remains immortal in a sense that we still refer to
him and his story (Sadigh 85). Enkidu is a primary character in the epic, his death dramatically
changes the personality of Gilgamesh. His metamorphosis and death makes evident the innate
rhythm of life, which represents the link that he has with nature. With love, and self realization,
Enkidu eventually becomes a friend to Gilgamesh. Readers are able to see the merging of
Gilgamesh s divine stature with Enkidu s wild nature, which in turn changes Enkidu from a simple
beast to a figure that is larger than life (Harris 122). He essentially becomes an equal to Gilgamesh.

much controversy, vitriolic debate, and even violence as the one delivered in Roe v. Wade in 1973.

: The Abortion Rights
Controversy in American History state that even today, the case (and its companion cases) remains
the most divisive and controversial judicial decision of the twentieth century (3). Although it is a
landmark case in itself, its continuing influence on American law and politics proves that its legacy
lives on far beyond its formal resolution in a court of law. Essentially, the most important points are
that the cause of the case s complexity and drama is the legal relationship between men and women
that the ruling mirrored and compounded, the way the medical profession was impacted, and the
political significance that the issue still holds presently. One cannot understand what Roe v. Wade
meant to women or to men without understanding how abortion became illegal, and that story
begins in the nineteenth century. In 1821, Connecticut became the first state to explicitly
criminalize abortion. The primary purpose of this law was to spell out the conditions under which
the state could prosecute an abortionist for an abortion. The

Systems Theory Of Systems Thinking Essay
Systems Thinking in Organizations
Systems thinking described human thinking in a spiritual activity of the brain, that is, brainwork,
following the concept of being as the spiritual alive body. It asserts that thinking means the
processing of information that is essential for the management of the human body life (Broks,
2016). This paper discusses systems theory of systems thinking as applied to organizations today, in
particular to learning institutions versus those of traditional organizations, and their functionalities.
Research has taught us that companies are compelling, hierarchically structured entities. Such
dynamism lives in the emergence of significant events at every organizational level (Caldwell,
(2012).
Characteristics of Systems Thinking.
According to Davis, Powell, Dent and Wharff (2015), the features of discovery, action, and framing
are the characteristics of systems thinking that promote organizations success. These three features
analyze the organizations leadership processes between the linkages and interactions of the whole
systems. For example, the three characteristics view the complete organization with its environment
and incorporate the discovery component to explores and guarantee boundaries that include all

Role, S Role And Characters In Ma Rainey s Black Bottom
Eleven dollars in 1927 is equivalent to almost one hundred and fifty five dollars today. In August
Wilson s Ma Rainey s Black Bottom, Levee pays eleven dollars, four of which he won from
beating Cutler at shooting craps, for a new pair of shoes (Wilson 22, 23). When Levee arrives at
the studio that day, he brings his new shoes, takes them out of the box, puts them on, and shines
them later after Slow Drag steps on them (Wilson 23, 39). The shoes should be a pair of two
toned tan and white Oxford shoes somewhere between the sizes of eight and ten. Such a pair of
shoes was stylish enough to cost eleven dollars, but also bright and distinct enough to catch the
eye of the audience and show any marks from Slow Drag stepping on them. The appearance of
the new shoes reflect Levee s pretentious character and motives. This particular production of Ma
Rainey s Black Bottom is still set in 1927, but put on in the present day. Although it can be argued
that Ma Rainey s Black Bottom is timeless, I do not think setting the play in a later year would do
the play justice do to the cultural references made throughout the play, including the black bottom
dance. The theater for the production is a traditional proscenium theater without a curtain. The play
specifies that there are two rooms on stage, the band room stage left and the recording studio stage
right, so the audience must be entirely seated directly in front of the stage in order to see both
rooms, which I envision separated by a

Although the strenuous physical conditions of farm work in a Daara, as well as the relationship
between the talibe and marabout has attracted significant scholarly attention, it has largely been
misconstrued. As opposed to cruel exploitation of young men blinded by religious fervor, I will
argue that the induction of otherwise disenfranchised males into the brotherhood is a good remedy
for youth dislocation and dampens the disruptive effect of urbanization thus promoting political
stability by deterring civil unrest.
According to many civil conflict theorists, including Stathis Kalyvas, young people who are
physically dislocated from family, and without an occupation that can bring them economic
stability or social status are at risk of joining insurgency groups, since they are dissatisfied with
their exclusion from social respectability and blame it on political elites. While the young talibes of
rural marabouts are close to the bottom of Senegal s social hierarchy, their relationship with their
marabouts offers them opportunities to climb the social ladder that they would not have had
otherwise. For instance, talibes are usually given ownership of the farmland they worked on after
their servitude ends and in some cases; they are even given a wife. Such social and economic
offerings make joining the Mouride brotherhood quite appealing for young men with limited
prospects. The sect also offers its disciples a sense of fraternal belonging.

Ethics should form an integral part of every organization. Most companies have a manual that lays

Automation is the efficient solution to this challenge, as it not only reduces the cost of entire
process but also makes it quicker and efficient. This paper focuses on the need for automating
testing for mobile technologies and also highlight the challenges involved in implementation. This
paper details about the automation tool Appium which will give an insight in avoiding the
challenges.
Most of the tools available for automating testing for desktops like calabash, KIF require an
additional agent that needed to be compiled with application code as the tool cannot interact with
the mobile application without those agent. For agents like these, libraries associated with them
had to be removed at the time of submitting the app. Whereas Appium on the other hand doesn t
need any such sort of extra agents to be included in the original code there by completely changing
the testing process in a much efficient way.
Appium has improved significantly over the time and constantly added up with new features. It has
three main components Appium server, Doctor and Inspector.

by cultural relativists. One of the six claims that Rachels presents in section 2.2 of the article is
that different societies have different moral codes. I believe that Rachels thinks this claim is true.
Section 2.1 of the article does a good job at explaining this idea. In this section, Rachels gives
several examples of the differences that can be found in moral codes of different people groups
throughout time. One of the specific examples he mentions is the different burial rituals of the
Greeks and the Callatians. The Greeks perform a ritual that includes burning the dead. The Callatian
ritual consists of eating the dead. The Greeks and Callatians, while encountering each other, both
stated that the other s ritual was inhumane. This disagreement, according to Cultural Relativism, is
okay and to be expected because the two moral codes come from two drastically different
societies. A modern example of this claim is that up until recently in China, small feet were
praised and larger feet were frowned upon for women. Radical efforts to prevent women s feet
from growing included foot binding. This method of prevention caused women to constantly be in
pain. Women s foot size in the United States isn t emphasized like the way it used to be in China.
Therefore, citizens of the United States believe that Chinese foot binding was a barbaric method,
while people in China would think

How to be an excellent entrepreneur and inspirational speaker. Do you think it takes only little
efforts to do that? I will be the happiest if it were so. However, Peter Sage is an exemplary

Women, Ageism, and Poverty in Canada
November 19, 2011
Women, Ageism and Poverty in Canada
Women have benefitted greatly from the efforts of Feminism. The three waves of feminism have
given women the vote, control over their bodies, freedom of choice, the right to pursue higher
education, empowerment, the ability to identify areas of inequality, the right to attain male
dominated jobs and the right to expect equal pay for work of equal value. Women have fought
hard to obtain the tools to rise above the glass ceiling. For all that feminism has accomplished,
there are still areas that need more consideration. Until recently, feminism had concentrated on
females who were in the reproductive stage of their lives. The aging female was hardly considered.
As the second wave of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The failure of second wave feminists to address ageism earlier in the women s rights movement has
resulted in a remaining gender based gap facing the older woman.
Women are burdened with many obstacles to achieve equality in the work place. In the corporate
and
professional spheres, there are barriers to promotion, validation and acceptance. One of these
obstacles is ageism,
and the perceptions that older women work less effectively than young women and men. The
CEDAW (Convention
on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women) recognizes that women suffer ageism as one
of many forms of
discrimination (Begum, n.d. p. 1). For older women the stereotyped image is frail, doddering,
wrinkled and slow
both physically and mentally. Diversiton states that this is seen in greeting cards with phrases like
over the
hill and don t be an old fuddy duddy and jokes that are concerned with cognitive decline, death and
lack of
sexual interest. Emphasizing youthful appearance demeans being older.
http://www.diversiton.com/Ageism/AgeDiversity.asp) Older men are seen differently. According
to the blog
Cougar Women, men have silver hair while women have gray hair and older men are considered
distinguished
looking, while older women, no matter how beautiful, still just look older (Julie, April 22, 2011).
Gender ageism
can be directly attributed to male roles and attitudes.
The aging woman also faces

Madonna Of Stairs
Known as one of the greatest artists of the Italian Renaissance, Michelangelo was born on March
6th, 1475 to a noble family in Florentine, Italy. At the age of only 13, Michelangelo was
apprenticed to Domenico Ghirlandaio, and placed him in a studio to learn the fundamentals of
art. He only worked there for about a year after Lorenzo de Medici invited him to his home to
work as an artist for them. One of the most renowned work from his teen years was the marble
sculpture called The Madonna of Stairs , which was famous for the muscle that he applied to the art.
After the death of Lorenzo the Magnificent, Michelangelotraveled to many places, one of them
being Rome during the time of Pope Alexander VI. In 1498, he was commissioned to

Jorge Research Paper
Jorge has to be my most favorite person in the world. I met him in July of the year 2000. Jorge is
the total package; he is handsome, charming, funny and smart. Did I mention how handsome he
is? Those gorgeous golden brown eyes, his beard with a mixture of black and red hair, and those
plump lips are just to die for. Jorge continues to amaze after all these year. He continues to be
everything he was when we met and so much more. He truly is a man like no other; heaven sent,
superman, a super dad and a super husband. Have you ever felt like God sent you your own
personal Angel? Jorge came into my life when I needed him the most. I was young and dumb,
making bad life choices and he was mature and ready to settle down. He never judged me for my
past mistakes but instead encouraged me to want better for myself. His acceptance showed me
what a big heart he had and allowed me to trust him. He helped me get my life back on track and
stuck by my side through the good and the bad. There s not a day that goes by that I don t thank
God for putting Jorge in my life. Jorge works twelve hour shifts, anywhere from four to six days a
week. His job is both mentally and physically demanding. It amazes me that with all the hours of
hard labor he puts in at work that he still manages to get things done around the house. From tiling

Lake House Research Paper
Over the summer I had a lot of fun, maybe the most I`ve ever had. I spend a large amount of my
summer at my grandparent s lake house. My grandparents lake house is huge, a mansion
compared to my house. At their lake house they have a lot of fun stuff, my personal favorite are
the jet skis. I didn t get to ride them that much, but when I did it was a blast! My days at the lake
house were the highlight of my summer, but I did a lot of other fun stuff too!
Towards the middle of the summer I went to Cedar Point. I went with my sister and parents, we
were there exploring and riding the coasters from open to close. It was my first time going to the
Coaster Capitol, and it was amazing. Although some of the rides were a little disappointing, most

Theories Of Cultural Criminology
Considered the new criminology , the cultural and anarchic criminological theory explains how
globalization has led to cultural homogeneity. It is a distinct speculative, procedural, and
interventionist approach to the study of crime that places criminality and its control directly in the
context of culture; that is, it observes crime and the agencies and institutions of crime control as
cultural products or as creative constructs. So, they must be read in terms of the meanings they
carry. The focus of the field is extensive, including situated and symbolic significance; fabricated
social identity; subcultural study; space, place, and cultural geography; the continuing
transformations and fluctuations associated with hypercapitalism; variations of power, resistance,
and state control; existentialism and theories of risk, edgework, and personified practice. In all this,
cultural criminologyattempts to familiarize criminology to contemporary social and cultural
changes and thus to imagine a postmodern or late modern theory of crime and control. In this
regard, cultural criminology is involved in how individuals attempt to resolve certain internal
spiritual and emotional conflicts that are themselves generated by the paradoxes and particularities
of modern day life. Put otherwise, cultural criminology seeks to combine a phenomenology of
modern crime with a sociocultural analysis of late modern culture (Hayward 2004, p. 9, cited under
Markets, Consumption, and Crime).

Religious Discrimination In The Workplace
Religious Discrimination at the Workplace
Intro There are thousands of religions in the world, so it is necessary that an employer be very
careful to not discriminate against a person for their faith. One can define discrimination as unequal
treatment of employees or job applicants based on color, race, gender, religion, age, or nationality.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 made it illegal for and employer who has fifteen or more employees
to discriminate against an employee under any circumstance. Many employees can and are still
being wrongly discriminated against by there employers or fellow employees over their religions.
Religious Discrimination Cases The case EEOC vs. Red Robin Gourmet Burgers was brought
before a district court , in August 2005, because one of employees at the restaurant, Edward
Rangel, had small religious tattoos around his wrists, which he refused to cover. Red Robin was
sued because Mr. Rangel s tattoos were part of his religious practice of the ancient Egyptian
religion of Kemetic Orthodoxy. The employee had worked at the business for six months without
being approached about his tattoos; Mr. Rangel also talked to management concerning his tattoos
being a religious requirement and how covering them would constitute a sin. The district court
ruled in Mr. Rangel s favor because of the length of time he had worked and also the size of the
tattoos. Red Robin had to pay damages to the tune of $160,000 as well as having to make some

Planning Policies On Social Life
Planning policies on Social Life in Cities
For year s urban policy and strategy has been dominated by thinking about the physical city:
landmark architecture, transport, housing, urban development, and increasingly the technological
infrastructure to create smarter, more productive, and greener cities. Clearly social issues like
health, education, employment and public safety matter to city leaders but policy and public
services deal with people in the abstract rather than the particular, which is why so often, plans
diverge from reality in unpredictable and unintended ways. The social life of cities, in particular
the ordinary, the small scale and mundane aspects of urban life, are commonly overlooked as a
source of insight and inspiration for city planners and decision makers.
Looking at the everyday life of city streets and neighborhoods provides a perspective on cities,
social change and the radical variety of urban life, that is dramatically different to thinking about the
city as an intelligent network or transport system with predefined ideas about how people will
behave that is more of how the social planning do. Social planning is the process by which
policymakers legislators, government agencies, planners, and, often, funders try to solve
community problems or improve conditions in the community by devising and implementing
policies intended to have certain results. These policies may take the form of laws, regulations,
incentives, media campaigns,

  • 3. Examples Of Parenthood In The Destructors The lack of parenthood in The Destructors is the primary reason the boys in the gang have the dark streak that is seen in their endeavors. The effects of war and the class change contribute, but both ultimately tie back in to the root of the problem the parents. Most boys grow up with a curiosity, a knack for getting into trouble, and a longing to mess with what they shouldn t; these attributes are definitely present in the boys in the gang. Children should be raised by parents that teach them right from wrong so this curiosity, while it may still be present, is contained to a limit that is acceptable. The problem is that these boys didn t grow up with this type of parenting because they experienced little to no parenting at all. Their... One known fact about T. that is different from the others, is that his family came down after the war. Specifically, his father went from being an architect to a clerk. This change in occupation is one reason why T. is so fixated on the house. He is bitter about the war, his father s demotion, and the class change. He sees that this house survived a war he did not and wants to tear it down as his family had been. This is seen as T. is giving orders after he assumes leadership in the destruction of the house. It says that it was as though this plan had been with him all his life...crystallized with the pain of puberty. (70) The quote fortifies how he wants justice for what he has been through and that he never got to grow up as a child. He was forced to grow up quicker than he should have because of the war and his class change. The word pain brings out a sharpness to what he felt and went through. It provides the reader with a connection to T. that wouldn t be there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Arranged for Winds and Piano, Peter Facer has taken this momentous piece to an entirely new level. With the Callaway Music Auditorium at maximum capacity, Vagabond strode confidently onstage to roaring applause to give the performance of a lifetime. Adam Mikulicz s bassoon solo to open the piece captured the audience while Emily Clements added colour and ornamentation with both the flute and piccolo. Jodie Upton on clarinet and Peter Facer on the oboe encompassed style, texture and timbre which broadened the sound of this small ensemble. Conducting on the side, Facer kept the ensemble together in demanding sections. Thus, short notes were played identically by every person, creating sections of order in a piece of pandemonium. As the piece ended, the performers smiled. Having put 7 years of work into this score, they stood proudly and bowed. The audience erupted in applause. The Rite of Spring was reborn as the performers were re invited on stage three times. The first death penalty law goes back to the eighteenth century and has been used in many cultures. It was also used in Greece as the punishment for all crimes, Rome also adopted the death penalty. The methods of execution in these times were crucifixion, drowning, impalement, and even burning alive. In Britain, hanging was the most prominent method of execution. Over 200 different crimes were punishable by death. However, in the eighteenth century 100 of the crimes were eliminated from the death penalty. They reference a part of the Bible where God did not respond to murder with death, and in fact took action to prevent his death: When Cain killed Abel, God did not end Cain s life. Instead, he sent Cain into exile, not only sparing his life, but protecting it by putting a mark on Cain, lest anyone should kill him on sight. (Gn 4:15). This raises a valid point to whether or not God supports the death penalty. They also reference Pope John Paul II s call for the repeal of the death penalty: The new evangelization calls for followers of Christ who are unconditionally pro life: who will proclaim, celebrate and serve the Gospel of life in every situation. A sign of hope is the increasing recognition that the dignity of human life must never be taken away, even in the case of someone who has done great evil. . . . • 8. A Study On The And Properties Of Aluminium Alloys CHAPTER 3 LITERATURE REVIEW 3.1 Introduction The Al Zn Mg series aluminium alloys (7xxx) are the heat treatable alloys and widely applied as large structural components in navigation and transportation facilities, due to good combination of hardness, high strength and fracture toughness [1 6]. The use of Sc (scandium) to achieve grain refinement has recently received great attention. The microstructures and properties of aluminium alloys are strongly affected by adding small quantities of scandium. Scandium additions in excess of 0.55wt.% (i.e., hypereutectic) are very effective in grain refinement, suggesting that the primary ScAl3 phase serves as an effective grain nucleant [7 9]. The effect of a Sc addition will of course depend on the composition of the alloy. The additions of Sc in aluminium alloy appear to reduce hot tearing and shrinkage porosity. Hot shortness increase with increase in Zn but decrease with increase in Mg content [10, 11]. The process of precipitation in the Al Zn Mg alloy system is quite complex. The aged structure and the kinetics of ageing depend on both the Zn and Mg concentration and the temperatures of solution and ageing treatments. As the Sc contents increases within the specified solubility in the solid solution, the grains virtually do not disintegrate. The maximum solubility of scandium increases from 0.35 to 0.6 wt.% [12, 13]. When the amount of scandium exceeds the eutectic content and, consequently, there appear primary particles of ... • 10. The Pros And Cons Of Coffee Coffee is one of the most popular beverages in the world and therefore is a popular commodity. More than 2.25 billion cups of coffee are consumed every day. Over 90% of coffee is produced in developing countries, and millions of small producers income comes from growing coffee. Coffee is produced and exported mostly from South American countries, while mainly industrialized countries are the ones importing the most coffee. Worldwide, 25 million small producers rely on coffee for a living, and in Brazil, over 5 million people are employed by the commodity. Brazil is the top country in exporting coffee and is where almost a third of the whole world s production of coffee is. Coffee is a more labor intensive work culture than other commodities like sugar cane or cattle because it is not automated work and requires attention. It is a major export commodity and was the top agricultural export for 12 countries in 2004. It was the second most valuable commodity exported by developing countries from 1970 to 2000. World coffee production predicted for 2017/18 is 159 million bags which is the same as the last year because lower output in Brazil is offset by higher production in Vietnam, Mexico, and Indonesia and slight increases in other countries. World exports of green coffee are expected to stay steady with 111 million bags. Global consumption is estimated to be a record 158 million bags so ending inventories are expected to decrease to 34 million bags after being higher the previous 5 years. The countries that exported the highest dollar value worth of coffee during the year 2016 are Brazil, Vietnam, Columbia, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Indonesia. Brazil accounted for 15.9% of total coffee exports, which was 5.2 billion dollars. Brazil s Arabica output is forecast to drop 5.1 million bags to 40.5 million. Coffee trees in top growing regions in Brazil, Southern Minas Gerais and Sao Paulo, have shown excellent development and growers have intensified crop management, which are some of the reasons why Brazil produces so much and exports coffee. She allows the reader to see how a woman s life was completely ruled by social laws, and thus by her husband. Glaspell also reveals the ignorance of the men in the story, in particular the sheriffand the county attorney. I think some examples are rather extreme, but in Glaspell s day, they would have probably been common. Women did not have many rights at the turn of the century. What few rights and freedoms they did have were dominated by social standards. They were expected to cater to their husbands wishes and commands. With so many important compromises it is hard to chose just one. That being said, the compromise which I intend to discuss is the three fifths compromise. This compromise is important in our history and is a pretty controversial matter.Three fifths compromise was important for both the northern and southern states. As previously stated, the clause provides that representation in Congress will be based on the whole number of free persons and three fifths of all other persons (Article 1 section 2 clause 3) which referred to the slaves. According to Erik M. Jensen, professor of law, the popular misunderstanding in regards to this provision is that it did not declare that African American slaves were three fifths of a person but rather the provision was declaring that the slave states would get extra representation in Congress for their slaves, even though those states treated slaves only as property. Ultimately, this provision was not really about race but rather about status and political power for the states. Something that some might not know is that free blacks were not counted in the same way as slaves were. They were counted in the same way as all white men. (The Root) The reason for this is because the clause did not say that a slave was three fifth of a person also, the clause had nothing that involved free blacks. Instead, the clause gave us a mathematical formula for the allocation of representatives in congress that factored in slave population. Although slaves could not vote, free blacks could vote in some states. Long story short, the cause did not provide a voice for the slaves but rather this was about the distribution of political power in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Four decades later, it remains a touchstone for the culture wars in the United States and a pivot upon which much of American politics turns. In fact, the authors of Roe v. Although it is a landmark case in itself, its continuing influence on American law and politics proves that its legacy lives on far beyond its formal resolution in a court of law. In August Wilson s Ma Rainey s Black Bottom, Levee pays eleven dollars, four of which he won from beating Cutler at shooting craps, for a new pair of shoes (Wilson 22, 23). When Levee arrives at the studio that day, he brings his new shoes, takes them out of the box, puts them on, and shines them later after Slow Drag steps on them (Wilson 23, 39). The shoes should be a pair of two toned tan and white Oxford shoes somewhere between the sizes of eight and ten. Such a pair of shoes was stylish enough to cost eleven dollars, but also bright and distinct enough to catch the eye of the audience and show any marks from Slow Drag stepping on them. The appearance of the new shoes reflect Levee s pretentious character and motives. This particular production of Ma Rainey s Black Bottom is still set in 1927, but put on in the present day. Although it can be argued that Ma Rainey s Black Bottom is timeless, I do not think setting the play in a later year would do the play justice do to the cultural references made throughout the play, including the black bottom dance. The theater for the production is a traditional proscenium theater without a curtain. According to many civil conflict theorists, including Stathis Kalyvas, young people who are physically dislocated from family, and without an occupation that can bring them economic stability or social status are at risk of joining insurgency groups, since they are dissatisfied with their exclusion from social respectability and blame it on political elites. While the young talibes of rural marabouts are close to the bottom of Senegal s social hierarchy, their relationship with their marabouts offers them opportunities to climb the social ladder that they would not have had otherwise. Automation is the efficient solution to this challenge, as it not only reduces the cost of entire process but also makes it quicker and efficient. This paper focuses on the need for automating testing for mobile technologies and also highlight the challenges involved in implementation. This paper details about the automation tool Appium which will give an insight in avoiding the challenges. Most of the tools available for automating testing for desktops like calabash, KIF require an additional agent that needed to be compiled with application code as the tool cannot interact with the mobile application without those agent. For agents like these, libraries associated with them had to be removed at the time of submitting the app. Whereas Appium on the other hand doesn t need any such sort of extra agents to be included in the original code there by completely changing the testing process in a much efficient way. Appium has improved significantly over the time and constantly added up with new features. It has three main components Appium server, Doctor and Inspector. Manual vs Automation In my view here is how manual testing is different form automation, no programming can be done to write test cases in manual testing , where as in automation, testers can write the programs to identify hidden bugs and other missing information. • 40. The Challenge Of Cultural Relativism By James Rachels In The Challenge of Cultural Relativism , James Rachels presents six claims that have been made by cultural relativists. One of the six claims that Rachels presents in section 2.2 of the article is that different societies have different moral codes. I believe that Rachels thinks this claim is true. Section 2.1 of the article does a good job at explaining this idea. In this section, Rachels gives several examples of the differences that can be found in moral codes of different people groups throughout time. One of the specific examples he mentions is the different burial rituals of the Greeks and the Callatians. The Greeks perform a ritual that includes burning the dead. The Callatian ritual consists of eating the dead. The Greeks and Callatians, while encountering each other, both stated that the other s ritual was inhumane. This disagreement, according to Cultural Relativism, is okay and to be expected because the two moral codes come from two drastically different societies. A modern example of this claim is that up until recently in China, small feet were praised and larger feet were frowned upon for women. Radical efforts to prevent women s feet from growing included foot binding. This method of prevention caused women to constantly be in pain. Women s foot size in the United States isn t emphasized like the way it used to be in China. Therefore, citizens of the United States believe that Chinese foot binding was a barbaric method, while people in China would think ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The three waves of feminism have given women the vote, control over their bodies, freedom of choice, the right to pursue higher education, empowerment, the ability to identify areas of inequality, the right to attain male dominated jobs and the right to expect equal pay for work of equal value. Women have fought hard to obtain the tools to rise above the glass ceiling. For all that feminism has accomplished, there are still areas that need more consideration. The failure of second wave feminists to address ageism earlier in the women s rights movement has resulted in a remaining gender based gap facing the older woman. Women are burdened with many obstacles to achieve equality in the work place. In the corporate and professional spheres, there are barriers to promotion, validation and acceptance. One of these obstacles is ageism, and the perceptions that older women work less effectively than young women and men. The CEDAW (Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women) recognizes that women suffer ageism as one of many forms of discrimination (Begum, n.d. p. 1). For older women the stereotyped image is frail, doddering, wrinkled and slow both physically and mentally. • 48. Theories Of Cultural Criminology Considered the new criminology , the cultural and anarchic criminological theory explains how globalization has led to cultural homogeneity. It is a distinct speculative, procedural, and interventionist approach to the study of crime that places criminality and its control directly in the context of culture; that is, it observes crime and the agencies and institutions of crime control as cultural products or as creative constructs. So, they must be read in terms of the meanings they carry. The focus of the field is extensive, including situated and symbolic significance; fabricated social identity; subcultural study; space, place, and cultural geography; the continuing transformations and fluctuations associated with hypercapitalism; variations of power, resistance, and state control; existentialism and theories of risk, edgework, and personified practice. In all this, cultural criminologyattempts to familiarize criminology to contemporary social and cultural changes and thus to imagine a postmodern or late modern theory of crime and control. In this regard, cultural criminology is involved in how individuals attempt to resolve certain internal spiritual and emotional conflicts that are themselves generated by the paradoxes and particularities of modern day life. Put otherwise, cultural criminology seeks to combine a phenomenology of modern crime with a sociocultural analysis of late modern culture (Hayward 2004, p. 9, cited under Markets, Consumption, and Crime). ... • 49. Religious Discrimination In The Workplace Religious Discrimination at the Workplace Intro There are thousands of religions in the world, so it is necessary that an employer be very careful to not discriminate against a person for their faith. One can define discrimination as unequal treatment of employees or job applicants based on color, race, gender, religion, age, or nationality. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 made it illegal for and employer who has fifteen or more employees to discriminate against an employee under any circumstance. Many employees can and are still being wrongly discriminated against by there employers or fellow employees over their religions. Religious Discrimination Cases The case EEOC vs. Red Robin Gourmet Burgers was brought before a district court , in August 2005, because one of employees at the restaurant, Edward Rangel, had small religious tattoos around his wrists, which he refused to cover. Red Robin was sued because Mr. Rangel s tattoos were part of his religious practice of the ancient Egyptian religion of Kemetic Orthodoxy. The employee had worked at the business for six months without being approached about his tattoos; Mr. Rangel also talked to management concerning his tattoos being a religious requirement and how covering them would constitute a sin. The district court ruled in Mr. Rangel s favor because of the length of time he had worked and also the size of the tattoos. • 50. Planning Policies On Social Life Planning policies on Social Life in Cities For year s urban policy and strategy has been dominated by thinking about the physical city: landmark architecture, transport, housing, urban development, and increasingly the technological infrastructure to create smarter, more productive, and greener cities. Clearly social issues like health, education, employment and public safety matter to city leaders but policy and public services deal with people in the abstract rather than the particular, which is why so often, plans diverge from reality in unpredictable and unintended ways. The social life of cities, in particular the ordinary, the small scale and mundane aspects of urban life, are commonly overlooked as a source of insight and inspiration for city planners and decision makers. Looking at the everyday life of city streets and neighborhoods provides a perspective on cities, social change and the radical variety of urban life, that is dramatically different to thinking about the city as an intelligent network or transport system with predefined ideas about how people will behave that is more of how the social planning do. Social planning is the process by which policymakers legislators, government agencies, planners, and, often, funders try to solve community problems or improve conditions in the community by devising and implementing policies intended to have certain results.
