Essay about Three Main Environments of Northanger Abbey
There are three main environments in which the novel, Northanger
Abbey, is set.
The initial location is Fullerton and it is from here Catherine begins her journey. This is also the place
to which Catherine returns at the end of the narrative. By the very fact that Fullerton is located at the
start and the end of Catherine s journey, it can be used as a comparison with the other locations in the
novel.
Catherine wants to leave Fullerton, as it is not exciting enough and certainly not as glamorous a place
as the second location, Bath.
Indeed, the Allens, who own the majority of the land in Fullerton, are happy to spend much of the year
socialising in Bath. Mrs Allen takes
Catherine to Bath because adventures do not befall a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On arriving in Bath, it is strange that although Bath is such a thriving town of social activity, she fails
to make new acquaintances or renew any old ones. It is here that Catherine meets Henry Tilney and
the Thorpe family.
Bath lacks the stability of Fullerton and it is this insincerity that enables Bath to be seen as a place
where it is easy to practise deceit. Bath is full of new acquaintances and thus easy to befriend and
utilise people to assist in any schemes and to fall back upon, if caught. It is here that Isabella deceives
the trusting Catherine for longer than would be possible in a close nit environment like
Fullerton.
In contrast to Isabella, Catherine s new friend, Henry Tilney, is aware of the falseness of Bath. He puts
up with the shallow entertainment in the hope he finds a worthy friend there, as happens on meeting
Catherine. Indeed, while dancing with Catherine, he convey his amusement that many visitors to Bath
come to dislike the place, but prolong their stay only to leave when money runs out, thus presenting a
damaging fascination with Bath. He thinks that Bath has
little variety and that Catherine should be tired of it at the end of six weeks .
Bath, although a real geographical location, is an artificial environment separate from reality. People
are preoccupied with fashion and dance rather than hard work. It is a place for the wealthy, those who

Questions On Pascal s Wager
I am arguing that Pascal s Wager is significantly stronger of a rationale when more social factors are
taken into consideration. In his time, Blaise Pascal formed the foundation of the Pascal s Wager we
know of today, posthumously in the form of Infinirien . Though this is more easily defensible then
Pascal Wager, the modified version has garnered enough popularity and has enough similar that it is
the target of most criticisms. Pascal came up with a theory of understanding the consequences of not
believing in God versus those that came with believing in him. From his calculations he determined
that since believing in God had the same result as not believing when God didn t exist. When God did
exist however, the consequences of not believing were dire and the reward for believing was infinite.
Pascal tried to explain that believing in God was the rational decision when such infinite rewards of
heaven and such punishment of hell are possibilities. Social implications are crucial to understanding
how Pascal s Wager might apply today and in countries of all different cultures. I will discuss three of
the most common objections toward Pascal s Wager and illustrate how considering just a few social
factors make the decision to believe in God more rational then not. Then, I will explain how though
there s not enough evidence toward believing unswervingly, there is still enough positive implications
that can warrant accepting your socially acceptable faith. Pascal s Wager has

Female Issues Affecting The Indian Society Essay
Abstract
The age old problem of female related issues affecting the Indian society adversely continues to exist
today in the 21st century. The advancement of new age, technology, scientific inventions, standard of
life, and change in life style has failed to bring in change of the mindset. The problem of female
infanticide in India seems to be persistent. The alarming records collected by local, regional, national
and international bodies only reflect the drastic decline in the male female ratio. The matter is of
serious concern and what is required is not only law but the change that each one has to bring in
understanding that when Nature was impartial in evolving man and woman, why has the society then
brought about gender discrimination.
This paper is an attempt to discuss the present and future repercussions faced due to female
infanticide. Since the society is reflected through literature, art and fiction, the writer has made an
attempt to make a journey of today s reality through Sujata Bhatt s poem Voice of the Unwanted Girl
and Manish Jha s motion picture, Matrubhoomi: A Nation Without Women that is set in the 2050s.
... missing women tell(s) us, quietly, a terrible story of inequality and neglect leading to the excess
morality of women . Though this statement seems to be almost universal according to Barbara Miller
the problem holds immediate attention in the Indian context. Different types of problems heard

Students At The University, All Of The Students
The first year at the university, all of the students was living on campus dormitory. It was not just a
place to stay, but it was also a way for fostering academic and multicultural program. The program is
intended to facilitate the students to adapt to college life, student world and hone soft skills, such as
communication, organizational skills, and understand the diversity. There were four students in one
room. Therefore, I had three other roommates. It was the first experience for me to live in another
place for a long time besides in my own home and also shared a room with three other students. The
intensity of understanding the diversity has improved had more interactions with almost everyone that
represent the ethnic and culture from western to the eastern islands of Indonesia. I would like to say
that this is an essential emotional asset that could bring unity on our campus and also develop our
nationality. I learned that we need to help each other in joy and sorrow in order to build success, not
just for the study but also to build relationships emotionally with others. I had my first girlfriend when
I was on my undergraduate at the same university. This first romantic relationship was made me that
when we want to be loved by someone, we also need to love them. In addition, we also have to accept
our personal differences in order to maintain a relationship. While I was in undergraduate university, I

My Evidence In My Writing
Throughout quarter 1, I believe that my ability to find and apply evidence to my writings has
improved over the quarter. Although this skill is still a work in progress for me, I have noticed
tremendous growth in my own confidence through it. My credibility of my evidence has improved
through class discussions.
After the disobedience writing, i saw that i performed well on that specific writing. For me this
specific writing was not challenging because I knew historical events that i could use for my evidence.
By having that background knowledge, it made it less challenging to write for that prompt. I did well
because i referenced historical events for my evidence. This created credibility in my writing because
it was a use of historical facts that were connected to the prompt. We learned evidences to use in
argumentative writing: literature, historical events, and personal anecdotes. Some historical events i
used were MLK Jr, Gandhi, and Harriet Tubman. I stated that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had an idea
of equality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I learned from that first writing by knowing to reference credible historical events, but i also learned
from the second writing by realized that using only personal anecdotes does not create more
credibility and ethos to a argumentative writing. When credibility is applied to an argumentative essay
, the argument of the writer becomes stronger to the strength of the ethos. From learning about
different types of argumentative writing in class, i was able to comprehend and apply more credible
sources to my writings to create a stronger argument.
Overall in quarter 1, my skills have grown in my credibility of evidence. I learned from my mistakes
and was able to fully understand how to create a better argumentative writing. The skill is still not
perfect for me and still needs lots of improvement, but it has grown throughout the quarter and really

American Deaf Culture Essay
The American Deaf Culture quiz that I partook in last Thursday was a wonderful and enormous
paradigm shift of insight into, proper mannerisms, as well as the origin and complexity of the
language.
Much of what I learned for our class s assessment has to do with the sentence structure and history of
American sign language. For starters, I would have never have guessed that American sign language is
a descendant from French sign language! Nearly forty percent of the nouns in American sign language
are directly from French sign language. Another fascinating factoid I learned from this quiz was the
importance of facial expressions. I would have figured that facial expressions would be indicative of
emotion, however, I quickly realized through

Tea Cake In The Great Gatsby
Many people believe that a person s name is just as important as who that person is on the inside
regarding the kind of personality traits they possess. Tea cakes from Zora Neale Hurston s Their Eyes
Were Watching God; Blanche DuBois in Tennessee William s A Streetcar Named Desire; and Jay
Gatsby in F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby all had great significance amongst their names which
helped to unveiled the truth behind who they were. In Their Eyes Were Watching God Tea Cake has a
name with more positive associations. When Janie first hears his name, she says, Tea Cake! So you
sweet as all dat? The answer is yes, he is sweet. Tea Cake values Janie s personality and company,
which is why he wants to be near her and have her work beside him. Tea Cake also feels a strong duty
and obligation toward his wife such as to provide for her material things, protect her from dangers,
etc. Another characteristic that shows he s a sweet person is his willingness to both talk and listen.

We learned the main characted was born with the name James Gatz, but he changed it to Jay Gatsby.
The reason he changed his name is because he wanted a new identity to reflect his new lifestyle. In
addition, one can associate his name with his criminal background. Oh, I ve been in several things, he
corrected himself, I was in the drug business and then I was in the oil business. But I m not in either

a man called Dan Cody to smuggle alcohol into American from Canada when he was 17 years old.
Although he never openly admits he was in illegal business, we can assume from the story that he had
gained his power and wealth through criminal behavior suggested by his name. To top that theory off

Nuclear War
Talks between the U.S and the Soviet Union let by Vladimir Putin concerning a ban on nuclear testing
started in the mid 1950s. Trusted officials from both sides came to believe that a nuclear arms race
was going to reach a dangerous level. In addition, public protest against testing of nuclear weapons
was gaining power. Nevertheless, talks between the two sides carried on for years, usually coming
apart when the issues of verification were raised. Both the U.S and the British greatly wanted on site
inspections, something the Soviets strongly opposed. In 1960, the three sides seemed not far to an
agreement, but the findings of a U.S spy over the Soviet Union in May of that same year brought
discussions to a close. In June 1963, the ban ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Real Miracle at Dunkirk and the Other Channel Ports in...
The real miracle at Dunkirk and the other Channel ports in May 1940 was that Hitler halted his Panzer
divisions against the advice of almost all his generals, and allowed nearly 600,000 British and French
troops to escape to England. Had he not done so, the military disaster that the British Expeditionary
Force experienced in France would have been total, and none of its troops would have been able to
fight on another day. Even so, they lost most of their planes, tanks, artillery and heavy equipment,
while the loss of aircraft by the RAF imperiled it ability to defend the country against the Luftwaffe.
Although Winston Churchill and his Minister of Information Alfred Duff Cooper tried to put the best
face on the evacuation possible, especially by emphasizing the role the small boats had played in the
rescue effort, they were under no illusions about the magnitude of the disaster. Hitler gave various
explanations for why he refused to continue ground operations against Dunkirk none of them
particularly convincing and it has puzzled historians for seventy years since. Most of the top German
commanders were literally speechless when they heard the order to halt and leave Dunkirk to the
Luftwaffe, although Field Marshal Gerd von Rundstedt was concerned about possible British and
French counterattacks on the exposed northern flank of the German army. Britain s counterattack at
Arras had also come as a severe shock to the Germans and De Gaulle would later make similar attacks

Why Was Australia Called The Great War (Ww1)
WW1 began on 28th July 1914 ending in 11th November 1918, originating in Europe after the
assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie. The war was fought on a number
of fronts including the Western Front, Middle East, Europe, Africa and Gallipoli. As the war
progressed, WW1 became known as The Great War , the war to end all wars. A short period of time
after Britain and Germany went to war, Australia was included into the fighting as at the time
Australia was still a colony to the British. Australia prepared for war months before, enlisting soldiers
for all types of military forces, these included, the naval, expeditionary, Imperial force, ANZAC,

What Are The Key Triggers Of Violent Conflict In The...
This essay will address important question of what are key triggers of violent conflict in the Middle
East and Asia and how can the Intelligence Community (IC) improve its collection and analytical
efforts in regard to these issues? The challenge to this question is that there are way too many trigger
points to choose from, and the Middle East and Southwest Asia have recently been violent places to
begin with. However, with that being stated, I will list what I estimate as being the top three key
trigger points. One s first presumption is that it would be oil, but it is not. First and foremost is the
trigger of religious tensions and that of the Islamic Jihadist movements. This includes the divide
between Israel and Palestine, the Druse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second trigger would be the impending shortage of water and how it will rapidly grow into a
major conflict. This is not an if, but a when it will occur. The third is the monitoring of the Joint
Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which is the international agreement on the nuclear program
of Iran reached in Vienna on 14 July 2015 between Iran, the P5+1 and the European Union. How the
IC and analytical communities address these key trigger points is problematic. Just how can the IC
improve its collection and analytical efforts against the monitoring and analysis of the high value
targets related to ISIL movements? These movements are mainly individual human in nature, so the
most plausible collection that can be used is the employment of Human Intelligence (HUMINT). This
can be accomplished by covert or overt means. However, entry or recruitment in these secular arenas
has been, and continues to be extremely challenging. The

Nkt Organs And The Role Of Type II NKT Cells
Type II NKT TCRs are more prevalent in humans, yet, remain as one of the least functionally
characterized NKT cell populations. However, with the advent of Jα18 gene KO studies, the role of
type II NKT cells in antimicrobial immunity is progressively appreciated. A series of structural studies
have provided the molecular basis of type I NKT TCR mCD1d Ag complex and demonstrated a
distinct recognition pattern dominated by the CDR loops encoded by the germline region of the TCR.
The parallel docking mode that underpinned type I NKT TCR recognition has remained well
preserved regardless of the antigens or TCR Vβ gene usage and indicated the central role played by
the invariant α chain in innate like recognition. Recently, the structure of the ... Show more content on

Apparently, the study also provided a compelling difference in the recognition pattern compared with
type I NKT TCRs, where a conserved docking mode underpinned both self and microbial antigen
recognition (Li et al., 2010; Mallevaey et al., 2011; Pellicci et al., 2009).
Although TRAV4*01 type II TCR engaged mCD1d α Glc A DAG in type I NKT TCR like recognition
mode, an apparent difference was observed in regard to their relative TCR/CD1d interface. Namely, In
TRAV4*01 type II TCR complex, the TCR interacted predominately through non germline encoded
CDR3 loop region, with both the α and β chain contributing equally to the BSA of TCR/CD1d
interface, whereas the interaction in type I NKT TCR mCD1d Ag is largely germline mediated and
primarily driven by the CDR loop region encoded within the α chain (Rossjohn et al., 2012).
However, the TRAV4*01 TCR mCD1d framework was found to be more similar to that of type II
TCR CD1d complexes determined to date. It, therefore, remains an interesting question as to why
TRAV4*01 type II TCR required a type I NKT TCR like recognition mode to establish type II NKT
TCR footprint? It may be possible that TRAV4*01 type II TCR prerequisite type I like docking mode
for its positive selection in the thymus. Interestingly, the tyrosine motif (Tyr49β Tyr51β) of CDR2β
which is regarded as a key recognition codon central to the binding orientation of the majority of type
I NKT TCR population (Wun et al., 2008) is

Land Surveying During The Civil War
Land Surveying has been around for thousands of years and has an impact on everyday life. From
drawing maps to designing cities with the efficient layouts surveyors effect everybody in one way or
another. Surveying as any profession has had its stars as well. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson,
and Abraham Lincoln were all surveyors before becoming men of power. Of course technology from
their time has advanced and is actually one of the fastest advancing fields in the world. The men who
founded America though, surveyed the country without aerial drones or gps. These men used much
more basic equipment to map America. One of the most famous surveying expeditions is that of the

The Things That Makes One Tick
In other words, what are the things that makes one tick? That brings us to choose certain paths, even if
the underlying truth of these paths hasn t been recognized. The things that makes us ticks can be
thought of mistakes. A professor of psychology and behavioral economics, Dan Ariely, studied this
issue up close. Through his book, Predictably Irrational, these mistakes are both explained and
contextualized as human error. Something that all of us do on a daily basis without any recognition.
And even when we recognize our misconceptions, we still have a tendency to do it again. While
reading Predictably Irrational, I came across several personal . Things like, procrastination and
overvaluing materialistic things are two of many misconceptions I have been aberrant to. We, humans,
have a tendency to be aberrant, walking out of reasonable paths and into irrational ones. Ariely
thoroughly explains how emotions dictate behaviors and decisions we make. Us procrastinators,
acknowledge that we do infact procrastinate. The real problem is how we act, knowing we have
tendencies to procrastinate. Emotions rush through our veins and speaks louder then our
consciousness. As Ariely explained, we are in the cool state when we are making promises such as,
spending less or exercising more with a diet. But as soon as we spot materialistic things, our emotions
come rush in bringing us to the hot state. When we ignore our long term goals for the immediate
fulfilment, we are in fact

Planned Parenthood Case Summary
Introduction
With repeated threats from Congress to defund Planned Parenthood and multiple states passing
restrictive laws, reproductive rights and abortion in particular continue to be increasingly under attack
in the United States. In 1973, the Supreme Court ruled in Roe v. Wade that a woman s choice whether
to have an abortion is protected by her right to privacy and that any restrictions on that right must be
under strict scrutiny. This means that by law, women have the right to get abortions without facing
unnecessary restrictions. According to Roe v. Wade, the only time the government could enforce
restrictions on this right was when there is a compelling state interest to do so.
Nearly two decades later, the decision of Planned Parenthood of Southeastern ... Show more content

This case will decide whether strict abortion laws in the state of Texas are constitutional or not. The
challengers to these laws argue they place an undue burden on women seeking abortion, which goes
against the decision of Planned Parenthood v. Casey.
States all over the country enforce strict laws on women seeking abortions, but Texas has some of the
toughest restrictions. Texas only has six clinics that meet these tough restrictions, which means some
women would have to travel hundreds of miles just to get an abortion. In addition, 28 states require
women seeking abortions to wait for at least 24 hours and up to 72 hours after receiving counseling to
actually get the abortion. According to the Guttmacher Institute, these waiting periods effectively
require the woman make two separate trips to the clinic to obtain the procedure in 14 states.
Although the Supreme Court will rule on the Texas laws soon, passing a bill in Congress to make it
illegal for federal, state, and local governments to restrict a woman s right to abortion would once and
for all protect a woman s privacy and right to

Comparing Angela s Ashes And Huckleberry Finn
The importance of community and the charity of strangers is very prominent in Angela s Ashes and
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. The way that strangers treat them compared to how their own
families act is a large difference. Strangers tend to be more charitable and kind, but their families don t
seem to care as much about them. The way their families treat them in both stories is negative. In
Angela s Ashes Malachy and Angela are distant parents. Malachy drinks and doesn t bring money
home. In Frank s teenage years his father leaves for London one day and never comes back. When
Frank s little siblings die his mother closes herself off and refuses to eat or drink or even get out of
bed. Even Frank s grandparents, aunts and uncles treat him and his siblings poorly. They are viewed as

her just after the birth when she makes the father promise that Benjamin would have a place in his life.
Of course he is upset and he looks at what may be a monstrosity for a son, blaming the child for her
death and dumps Benjamin on the stairs at the old folk s home where an African American woman,
named Queenie, becomes his surrogate mother. Here is a loving and nurturing individual that raises
him in the film where there is no loving or nurturing female in the literary story. Now in the literary
story Benjamin has a grandfather who at the start was antagonized, became to enjoy his grandson s

gave him a sense of acceptance. The film version gave him acceptance through Queenie and we never

Interpersonal Therapy Research Paper
There are many difference between the therapeutic techniques for children or adolescents and the
techniques used for adults; yet, there are also many similarities. These techniques have to be
understood in order to better assist those individuals in need. Interpersonal Therapy for Adolescents
(IPT A) is one technique that is used for children. IPT A is a brief treatment that targets several
interpersonal problems that often underlie depression. It incorporates cognitive and behavioral
techniques to help the child retain his or her behavior and activity. This technique also helps the child
to develop self reinforcement patterns. This technique can be used in a group or individual setting.

The Found Boat Summary
From the time we were young we had friends. Making friendship was always an instinctive concept
but we never knew where it would lead .In Alice Munro s story The Found boat , Eva, Carol, Frank,
Bud and Clayton are a group of children that live in a small town and goes to the same school. In this
story, the boat initiates a new stage in the relationships between the boys and the girls and how does
the boat have an influence on their sexual awareness.
Firstly , the boat has an important influence in this story because it takes the kids on some sort of
adventure and change there relationship . For example, at the beginning of the story they largely
remain separated from on another and they only converse with one another occasionally, and that
communication usually takes the form of hurling insults at one another. Look at the fat assed ducks in
wading , and Fat assed fucks (Munro 366). This stage of their relationship begins to change after the
girls find the boat and share that finding with the boys. We can observe that the characters are very
childish at the beginning of the story and that sooner or later their growth was about to begin.
Therefore it is at this moment that we can come to conclusion that the boat , which is the main symbol
of this story , is about to begin.
Secondly, working on the boat allows them to explore new roles and aspects of their identity. They all
had a different task to do; like that the boat would be ready to go on some unknown

The Black Panther Party
The Black Panthers
The Black Panther Party is a self defense, African American revolutionary party. This party was
founded in Oakland, California by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale during the 1960 s. This party was
dedicated to combating white oppression, and did so by the use of both peaceful and violent actions.
Looking back at the history of the Black Panthers, it can be clearly seen that the peaceful idea of
equality for all spawned this group and their violent actions for the main reason that they were willing
to do anything to defend their beliefs.
One of the greatest reasons for the violent actions of the party, should be credited to the co founder
named Huey Newton. Huey Newton was a rebellious individual who was suspected of committing
many crimes. As minister of defense within the party, Huey was seen as a leader to the members of the
organization. In an interview with Newton, he made clear what he wanted the party to stand for, and
what they needed to do to achieve this. In an excerpt from the interview transcript, he says that there
are two kinds of nationalism, revolutionary and reactionary nationalism. Revolutionary nationalism is
first dependent upon a People s revolution with the end goal being the people in power... If you are a
reactionary nationalist you are not a socialist and your end goal is the oppression of the people.
(Newton 1). From this transcript, it can be inferred what kind of nationalism Huey wants the party to
follow. He wants the people to gain power through the use of violence And extremism. As the
interview continues, Huey states the views of the Black Panther Party by saying The Black Panther
Party, which is a revolutionary group of black people, realizes that we have an identity. We have to
realize our black heritage in order to give us strength to move on and progress (Newton 1). By saying
this, Huey is announcing to the world that the Black Panthers are going to cause a dramatic change,
and implies that they will do whatever is necessary as long as they have the strength. The cause for
violence from peaceful ideas is largely due to the leadership. The minister of Education George
Murray made many speeches that supported the violent actions, and encouraged them. Within

12 Angry Men Analysis
12 Angry Men is a movie, directed by Sidney Lumet, about twelve jurors who are deliberating a
murder trial. An 18 year old has been accused of murdering his father and the jury has retired to
determine his fate. The jury performs a preliminary vote and the results came out to be eleven for
guilty and one, the architect played by Henry Fonda, for not guilty. The rest of the jury then begins to
persuade the architect that the accused is actually guilty. Each member of the jury played a key role in
the development of the group and the task at hand. The foreman played a major task role and was

Stepper Motors
1. Introduction
This is the first in a series of articles on using Forth to interact with the real world. We will explore
how to control motors of various types (such as servomotors and stepper motors), switch power to
devices, and sense the environment. Each article will present a project that can be used to demonstrate
the ideas we are going to discuss.
In this first article, I want to lay the foundation for the future columns and discuss the use of the PC
parallel port to control stepper motors. We will adopt the fantasy that we are working on some
microprocessor based control application and will be using the PC parallel port as a proxy for the
digital I/O channels on our controller. To the extent possible, the code will be ... Show more content

The control is relative, meaning that there is no way to determine the shaft position directly. You can
only command the motor to rotate a certain amount clockwise or counter clockwise from its current
position. These commands consist of energizing the various motor coils in a particular sequence of
patterns. Each pattern causes the motor to move one step. Smooth motion results from presenting the
patterns in the proper order.
Features that stepper motors provide include:
* Excellent rotational accuracy * Large torque * Small size * Work well over a range of speeds * Can
be used for motion or position control
There are two types of stepper motors:
* Bipolar motors, with two coils. These have four wires on them (see Figure One a). They are tricky to
control because they require changing the direction of the current flow through the coils in the proper
sequence. We will discuss these motors further when we get to the topic of DC motor control. *
Unipolar motors, with two center tapped coils which can be treated as four coils (see Figure One b).
These have six or eight (or sometimes five) wires, and can be controlled from a microprocessor with
little more than four transistors (see Figure Two).

Explain Why Adult Interactions with Children Are Important...
M1. Explain why adult interactions with children are important part of supporting their learning
Adult interaction is the key to measure a child s development. It helps understand the importance of
analysing children s progress and achievement. All children are different and unique. Interaction helps
children build stable, healthy and satisfying relationship and close bonding with their family, friends,
classmates and care takers (social development). They learn to cooperate and work as part of team.
Interaction creates awareness of a child s development, strengths, needs, interest and most importantly

Interact with the child help him to take responsibility for task such as dressing up, feeding and tidying
up which encourage to develop their self reliance.
At children s invitation we can participate in their games, at their level and play along, suggesting new
ideas and prompting for further ideas while continuing the same activity. We need to manage their
routine such as the duration of play. We can assess their behaviours (emotional environment) also. We
are a role model and hence our behaviour pattern can guide them to an acceptable level. We need to
interact positively with children as they observe and learn to talk and act with warmth and respect
towards others or develop patience. We need to sympathise, understand their point of view and avoid
being judgemental of their actions and thoughts. It gives a feeling of importance and helps the child
open up and share more information.
We can provide additional support to children with slow motor skills and help them overcome
frustration. For example, if they find writing difficult, a keyboard can be used to simplify the task. Or,
motivate them to read by providing books that they like such as those of current super heroes. We help
children to record what they have discovered or achieved in an activity (creating wall chart and
displaying their work in that area where everyone can access it).
Interaction helps understand why a child may find an activity difficult and enable us to help

The second option was chosen for several reasons. Having only one chart control makes the program a
good deal easier to follow for someone editing. It is also found to take less processing power to redraw
the same chart as opposed to having many run at the same time.
The channels are saved in each tab item but these channels are needed in the SamRunJobCtrl . The
channels are processed in that control and are used only there to create the data in the chart. In
SamRunJobCtrl the channels are written as _listVisChannels. These _listVisChannels need to be
updated every time. This is necessary to have two separate lists getting passed back and forth because
the _listVisChannels are updated when one of the pre defined buttons Add , Remove or Remove All
are called. Essentially when the user add or removed a channel, the SamRunJobCtrl informs the
TabChartCtrl of the change so that it can save the new channel. When the tab is changed, the
TabChartCtrl searched what channels are associated with the selected tab and passes it to the
SamRunJobCtrl so that it can write the _listVisChannels to the chart. This process is demonstrated by

Investigating The Optical Performance Of Photonic Crystals
abstract Photonic crystal is a composite dielectric with periodic modulation of refractive index that
brings about unique photonic band gap effect by which light could be totally reflected on the surface
of such material regardless of any incident angle or mode. Such bandgap effect could be understood
by investigating the optical performance of photonic crystals. In this paper, photonic bandgap
calculations are performed for two dimensional photonic crystals using matlab. Plane wave expansion
method is used to solve Maxwell s equations. The effect of lattice constant and refractive index is
investigated.
Introduction Photonic crystals are special class of optical media with periodic modulation of refractive
index by arrangement of dielectric material. They respond to light waves over a desired range of
frequencies by perfectly reflecting them or allowing them to propagate only in certain directions or
confining them within a specified volume. Photons either propagate through this structure or they don
t. Frequencies that propagate are called modes, and groups of allowed modes form bands. Disallowed
bands of frequencies are called photonic band gaps. This property of photonic bandgap is utilised to
manipulate light propagation. In particular, we can design and construct photonic crystals with
photonic band gaps, preventing light from propagating in certain directions with specified frequencies
By transmitting signals with

Illegal Immigrants
There are over 11 million illegal immigrants living in the United States, which is why I think that the
U.S. should allow the children of illegal immigrants to become citizens, but make the adult illegal
immigrants get in line, behind all the other immigrants trying to become citizens. I think this because
the children were brought here by their parents, who were probably fleeing the hardships of their
home country. I also think the parents should be able to take responsibility for their actions, especially
since they came here knowing they were bringing their kids here unlawfully. If they really came to
America for the right reasons, they should have no problem applying to become citizens and getting
the same benefits as others. After becoming citizens they should be able to get their children back and
provide them the life they wanted for them. The sooner we allow this to happen the sooner these
immigrant families can be together again and start their new life.
I think the children should stay and the adults be able to become citizens because they will help our
economy and create more jobs. Studies have shown that undocumented immigrants living in the
United States contribute significantly to state and local taxes, paying approximately $11.64 billion a
year. These immigrants nationwide pay an estimated average of 8 percent of their income in state and
local taxes, which means granting legal status to these immigrants and allowing them to legally work,
would increase state

Absolute Dualism In The Twelfth Century
In the twelfth century the Catholic Church was challenged by the most serious and widespread
heretical movements of that time; Catharism. With a coherent body of belief and an organization

In the early 13th century followers of Catharism believed in a version of it known as absolute dualism.
Absolute dualism if the belief that there are two Gods without beginning and without end, one good,
the other, wholly evil. Absolute dualists believe that each God created angels, and that the good God is

Catharism was endorsed by local nobility and became a popular alternative to the Catholic Church. In

remove all sin from the believer and to induct him or her into the next higher level as a Perfect. This
differed from the Roman Catholic sacrament of Penance, as the Consolamentum could be taken only

The Samurai s Life During The Tokugawa Period
The Samurai were the medieval warriors of Japan and were usually called bushi or buke (Matt
Williams, Unknown) but only 10% or less of Japan s population was able to become a Bushi.
Although this may sound quite desirable, it managed to improve for Buke when the Tokugawa period
came. Their lifestyle changed for the better and they didn t have to worry about death, while still
retaining the same position on the hierarchy pyramid. Because of this being a samurai knight in the
Tokugawa Period was desirable.
The Samurai s lifestyle changed a lot when the Tokugawa Period came, as this was when civil peace
occurred throughout Feudal Japan. (Columbia University, 2009) This meant that there was no longer a
need for the samurai to fight. With their fighting role diminished the samurai took on the roles of

Pros And Cons Of Cyrus
In the mid first millennium BCE, numerous groups arose, each with a different set of perspectives,
worldviews, and attitudes: the Israelites, the Phoenicians, Neo Assyrians, Persians and Greeks, and so
on. For the Jews, they were held captive in Babylon, later returned to Jerusalem by Cyrus, the King of
the Persians. Therefore, according to the first article, Cyrus was welcome within their society. These
people were extremely religious, especially in regards to Marduk, and they all felt the need to help
build their temple in Jerusalem. Everyone wanted to help for their beliefs and God, and gave gifts,
money, and resources. Even the Greeks, who later defeated the Persians, saw Cyrus as a model ruler
(textbook 132). Even more so, according to the Persian Customs article, most of the clans were made
by Cyrus, and the rest, nomad tribes, heavily depended on Cyrus tribes. The Greeks, meanwhile, had
their own opinions on the Persians, seen through Herodotus words. He states that the Persians do not
see the Gods, as they have no temples, and instead offer sacrifices; almost as if they enjoy the killings.
During this, the Persian sacrificer does not pray to himself, but to all of the Persians, which illustrates
how these people truly cared about their empire, and had great respect for the King, also sacrificing to
the sun, moon, earth, wind instead of seeing the God itself (Persian Customs). The Greeks did not

Research Paper On Isaac Newton Space Flight
Isaac Newton Space Flight The Laws of Motion and universal gravity proposed by Sir Newton led to
the development of space flight. Each law has a separate connection that when pieced together can

The first law states that an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless an external force is applied
(cesplo.phys.utk.edu). Now this applies to space craft when a rocket sits until being lifted up once the
throttle of the engine is released (NASA). This is also because of aerodynamics, developed George
Cayley. Aerodynamics is the pressure when the force is applied to get up off the ground, perpendicular

Aristotle s Philosophy On The View Of Friendship
Aristotle was an ancient Greek philosopher. Aristotle s philosophy was his logical concept. Aristotle s
objective was to come up with a universal process of reasoning that would allow man to learn every
imaginable thing about reality. He wrote on a vast amount of subjects during his lifetime, such as
biology, chemistry, physics, ethics and logic. Aristotle wrote a book called, Nicomachean Ethics. This
book describes the view of friendship. He also describes three different type of friendship, which in
reality is exactly how friendship is in today society. The question while reading this information is
what is friendship in Aristotle point of view? Aristotle believes that there are three different kinds of
friendship; that of utility, friendship of pleasure, and virtuous friendship. In his book he describe
exactly what each type of friendship really is. Friendship that is of utility is where both people derive
some benefit from each other. Is like saying that these people are friends from each other by gaining
something else from the other. They are not friends for the good of it; they are friends because there
are benefits coming from them. Aristotle describes a friendship of utility as narrow, easily dissolved or
for the old. He views them as such because this type of friendship is easily broken and based on
something that is brought to the relationship by the other person. Most of the people that have this
type of friendship are the young people. They do not know

The Legal Aspects Of Emulations And Emulators
GAMES
Convenience of Emulators: (Sinh Ly)
The legal aspects of emulations and emulators are tied with its association with ROMs, as defined by
Nintendo as Read Only Memory, which are usually illegally ripped (2015). An emulator is a software
that attempts to replicate the functions of another platform, in this case, a gaming console or portable
system, to run the code and interpret data from plugins that can interpret signals from a controller and
used with the program (Newman, 2013). The creation of emulators themselves are perfectly legal as
an act of investigation and analysis (Newman, 2013). If these emulators were to be used in
conjunction with new devices, such as the Retrode, which allows for classic game cartridges to be
read via USB on an emulator installed onto a computer, then the act would be deemed legal (Orland,
2013). However, as the Orland stated himself, These ROMS are legal, even though they re identical to
illegal ones you could find elsewhere, (2013) such thoughts leads to the negative connotation of
promoting piracy that is associated with emulators when the gaming industry thinks of them.
According to Nintendo (2015) on their opinions towards emulation:
The introduction of emulators created to play illegally copied Nintendo software represents the
greatest threat to date to the intellectual property rights of video game developers. As is the case with
any business or industry, when its products become available for free, the revenue stream

The Underlying Message Essay
The Underlying Message
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is not specifically about orthodox Zen Buddhist practice
nor does if specifically teaches how to repair a motorcycle. It does, however, dig into the inner
structure of the thought process to form a foundation to support any form of logic. This is
accomplished by means of a trek through the author s mind as he recounts his past in attempt to
rediscover who he once was. As the author comes to term with his duality, the reader is conditioned to
understand the author s philosophical ideas, which are the underlying beams of his value system.
Pirsig presents his message through lectures to the reader. These lectures are comprised of history,
philosophy, and common sense. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Are they really needed to judge a student s progress, or do they just blind the student from the true
objective of learning? To answer the question an experiment was conducted which in return raised
more questions and experiments. The focus went from the class reaction to a particular student and
from the student to an assignment. Ultimately, the assignment, an essay about the town where the
student resided, focused upon a single brick in a single building of the town.
From the preceding episode Pirsig demonstrated how a complex problem could be solved
systematically. More importantly, he also showed how one must be led to understanding and that it
cannot be merely preached. In the case of the individual student, she could not write a rhetorical paper
until the subject was simple enough for her to understand. Granted, Phaedrus continued to tell his
student what to write about, but once she could see how for herself, she no longer needed to be
dictated. Working back up and putting the pieces of the problem back together, the students then were
in position to decide for themselves what is the importance of grades. Half the class was not in
accordance with the instructor s opinion, but that was not the intention, or he would have just told
them what is the purpose of the grading system according to his own opinion.
The author is careful to point out that this divide and conquer method does not always work on a
general scale but only on an individual

Gun Control Controls Nothing Essays
More and more frequently, we are saddened by the news of mass shootings. Whether it takes place in a
school or public area, these shootings are both disastrous and mortifying. Families begin to feel anger
and sadness, and demand immediate justice. Although these terrible events continue to happen, there
have been no significant steps taken towards the reduction in the number of weapons; specifically
assault rifles. This leads one to question do we need to ban the right to possess such weapons? If the
possession of these weapons is not made illegal, we run the risk of another attack. While there is no
questioning the severity of these mass shootings, a ban on assault rifles is not the answer because they
are not the cause of such events, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bill definitely has good intentions, but the fact of the matter is that these shootings are anomalies.
Since 2006, there have only been six cases in which ten or more people were killed in a given
shooting (USA Today). Therefore, these are not common events. At less than once per year for the last
seven years, it is something that might even go unnoticed had there not been a great deal of news
coverage following such events. To add to that, out of the 231 mass killings in the United States in the
last seven years, only a mere thirty two of these cases have been due to guns (USA Today). This
means that there are many more important issues than assault rifles when it comes to the prevention of
mass shootings. One of the main issues with mass shootings is not the guns but the people who wield
the guns. In the United States, less than six percent of people are considered to have serious mental
disorders (National Institute of Mental Health). Less than one percent of that number would even be at
the risk of committing as catastrophic a crime as a mass shooting. This is the type of person who
would do such a thing. Again, this is not common at all. We are talking about a handful of people in
the whole country, yet news coverage and popular opinion makes it out to be a common event. Seung

Persuasive Speech On Child Soldiers
Is it known to the billions in this world, of the many who are unfairly tortured? Thousands and
thousands of people are tormented, and living a difficult life. Of these thousands, are child soldiers.
Child soldiers experience awful wars with bloodshed, which no child should ever experience. The
Middle East, where most children are recruited, is filled with cities of rubble. Children living in this
environment can t go to school, starve and may even be abandoned or separated from their parents.
Being in war, child soldiers commit crimes each and every time they land a foot on the battlefield. Is
this their choice? Is it considered fun for them to play with weapons? Should they be forgiven for their
actions? Child soldiers should be given amnesty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Viewers who support not forgiving child soldiers say child soldiers need to learn that what they did
was wrong and by sending them to tough camps like Guantanamo Bay, they will have time to
understand their mistakes. However, keeping these children in an as equal harsh environment will only
trigger there actions to go and further violate laws. Like said previously, Omar Khadr, a child soldier
now living in Guantanamo Bay, went on to murder U.S Army Sgt. First Class Christopher Speer.
Despite that fact that others believe there are many children who choose to become a soldier, there is
always are driving factor which possibly may seem like a children s choice. In other words, this claim
is untrue. Children not only become child soldiers because they are abandoned by their parents, or are
forced, sometimes the parents have little money and send their kids off. The parents can t keep up with
bills or feeding the family, so their only hope to make money is deporting their children for the
maximum pay of $1.50. This situation of send off may look like the child chose to be in the military,
but this is inaccurate. Lastly, critics argue child soldiers are better fighters than adult soldiers.

The Promotion Of Tesla And The Model S Car
The Promotion of Tesla and the advertising of the Model S car displays them the world s most cutting
edge manufacturer and car for public consumption. We have built a reputation around the success of
the company s CEO, Elon Musk. He has a history of taking great risks with companies and creating
innovation out of those risks. Those ventures include PayPal and SpaceX, both of which are leaders in
both the online payment format and space exploration industries (Forbes). The name itself, Tesla, is
associated with innovation. The company is named after the engineer and physicist Nikola Tesla, who
was the inventor of the Tesla coil and the AC power transmission, which is used in Tesla s cars
currently (Tesla Business Insider). Nikola Tesla was one of the greatest minds, which is why we chose
to name Tesla Motors after him. When consumers think of our product they think of the innovation
and advancement, the same way Nikola Tesla is thought of. The brand elicits cutting edge
performance, new concepts, desirability and exclusivity. Products at Tesla display the ability to
compete with any car on in multiple categories; the Model S gets better mpg than a Prius and still has
better performance than a Porsche. The Model S is smart tech equipped, with a touch screen center
control panel from the top of the dash to the gearshift, which no other commercial car has to date. Our
branding is seen as luxurious and exclusive; in order to acquire one of our cars you have to be on an

  • 2. Essay about Three Main Environments of Northanger Abbey There are three main environments in which the novel, Northanger Abbey, is set. The initial location is Fullerton and it is from here Catherine begins her journey. This is also the place to which Catherine returns at the end of the narrative. By the very fact that Fullerton is located at the start and the end of Catherine s journey, it can be used as a comparison with the other locations in the novel. Catherine wants to leave Fullerton, as it is not exciting enough and certainly not as glamorous a place as the second location, Bath. Indeed, the Allens, who own the majority of the land in Fullerton, are happy to spend much of the year socialising in Bath. Mrs Allen takes Catherine to Bath because adventures do not befall a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On arriving in Bath, it is strange that although Bath is such a thriving town of social activity, she fails to make new acquaintances or renew any old ones. It is here that Catherine meets Henry Tilney and the Thorpe family. Bath lacks the stability of Fullerton and it is this insincerity that enables Bath to be seen as a place where it is easy to practise deceit. Bath is full of new acquaintances and thus easy to befriend and utilise people to assist in any schemes and to fall back upon, if caught. It is here that Isabella deceives the trusting Catherine for longer than would be possible in a close nit environment like Fullerton. In contrast to Isabella, Catherine s new friend, Henry Tilney, is aware of the falseness of Bath. He puts up with the shallow entertainment in the hope he finds a worthy friend there, as happens on meeting Catherine. Indeed, while dancing with Catherine, he convey his amusement that many visitors to Bath come to dislike the place, but prolong their stay only to leave when money runs out, thus presenting a damaging fascination with Bath. He thinks that Bath has little variety and that Catherine should be tired of it at the end of six weeks . • 4. Questions On Pascal s Wager I am arguing that Pascal s Wager is significantly stronger of a rationale when more social factors are taken into consideration. In his time, Blaise Pascal formed the foundation of the Pascal s Wager we know of today, posthumously in the form of Infinirien . Though this is more easily defensible then Pascal Wager, the modified version has garnered enough popularity and has enough similar that it is the target of most criticisms. Pascal came up with a theory of understanding the consequences of not believing in God versus those that came with believing in him. From his calculations he determined that since believing in God had the same result as not believing when God didn t exist. When God did exist however, the consequences of not believing were dire and the reward for believing was infinite. Pascal tried to explain that believing in God was the rational decision when such infinite rewards of heaven and such punishment of hell are possibilities. Social implications are crucial to understanding how Pascal s Wager might apply today and in countries of all different cultures. I will discuss three of the most common objections toward Pascal s Wager and illustrate how considering just a few social factors make the decision to believe in God more rational then not. Then, I will explain how though there s not enough evidence toward believing unswervingly, there is still enough positive implications that can warrant accepting your socially acceptable faith. Pascal s Wager has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Female Issues Affecting The Indian Society Essay Abstract The age old problem of female related issues affecting the Indian society adversely continues to exist today in the 21st century. The advancement of new age, technology, scientific inventions, standard of life, and change in life style has failed to bring in change of the mindset. The problem of female infanticide in India seems to be persistent. The alarming records collected by local, regional, national and international bodies only reflect the drastic decline in the male female ratio. The matter is of serious concern and what is required is not only law but the change that each one has to bring in understanding that when Nature was impartial in evolving man and woman, why has the society then brought about gender discrimination. This paper is an attempt to discuss the present and future repercussions faced due to female infanticide. Since the society is reflected through literature, art and fiction, the writer has made an attempt to make a journey of today s reality through Sujata Bhatt s poem Voice of the Unwanted Girl and Manish Jha s motion picture, Matrubhoomi: A Nation Without Women that is set in the 2050s. ... missing women tell(s) us, quietly, a terrible story of inequality and neglect leading to the excess morality of women . Although this skill is still a work in progress for me, I have noticed tremendous growth in my own confidence through it. My credibility of my evidence has improved through class discussions. After the disobedience writing, i saw that i performed well on that specific writing. For me this specific writing was not challenging because I knew historical events that i could use for my evidence. By having that background knowledge, it made it less challenging to write for that prompt. I did well because i referenced historical events for my evidence. This created credibility in my writing because it was a use of historical facts that were connected to the prompt. • 11. The Real Miracle at Dunkirk and the Other Channel Ports in... The real miracle at Dunkirk and the other Channel ports in May 1940 was that Hitler halted his Panzer divisions against the advice of almost all his generals, and allowed nearly 600,000 British and French troops to escape to England. Had he not done so, the military disaster that the British Expeditionary Force experienced in France would have been total, and none of its troops would have been able to fight on another day. Even so, they lost most of their planes, tanks, artillery and heavy equipment, while the loss of aircraft by the RAF imperiled it ability to defend the country against the Luftwaffe. Although Winston Churchill and his Minister of Information Alfred Duff Cooper tried to put the best face on the evacuation possible, especially by emphasizing the role the small boats had played in the rescue effort, they were under no illusions about the magnitude of the disaster. Hitler gave various explanations for why he refused to continue ground operations against Dunkirk none of them particularly convincing and it has puzzled historians for seventy years since. Most of the top German commanders were literally speechless when they heard the order to halt and leave Dunkirk to the Luftwaffe, although Field Marshal Gerd von Rundstedt was concerned about possible British and French counterattacks on the exposed northern flank of the German army. Britain s counterattack at Arras had also come as a severe shock to the Germans and De Gaulle would later make similar attacks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This essay will address important question of what are key triggers of violent conflict in the Middle East and Asia and how can the Intelligence Community (IC) improve its collection and analytical efforts in regard to these issues? The challenge to this question is that there are way too many trigger points to choose from, and the Middle East and Southwest Asia have recently been violent places to begin with. However, with that being stated, I will list what I estimate as being the top three key trigger points. One s first presumption is that it would be oil, but it is not. Just how can the IC improve its collection and analytical efforts against the monitoring and analysis of the high value targets related to ISIL movements? However, with the advent of Jα18 gene KO studies, the role of type II NKT cells in antimicrobial immunity is progressively appreciated. A series of structural studies have provided the molecular basis of type I NKT TCR mCD1d Ag complex and demonstrated a distinct recognition pattern dominated by the CDR loops encoded by the germline region of the TCR. The parallel docking mode that underpinned type I NKT TCR recognition has remained well preserved regardless of the antigens or TCR Vβ gene usage and indicated the central role played by the invariant α chain in innate like recognition. Recently, the structure of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Apparently, the study also provided a compelling difference in the recognition pattern compared with type I NKT TCRs, where a conserved docking mode underpinned both self and microbial antigen recognition (Li et al., 2010; Mallevaey et al., 2011; Pellicci et al., 2009). Although TRAV4*01 type II TCR engaged mCD1d α Glc A DAG in type I NKT TCR like recognition mode, an apparent difference was observed in regard to their relative TCR/CD1d interface. Namely, In TRAV4*01 type II TCR complex, the TCR interacted predominately through non germline encoded CDR3 loop region, with both the α and β chain contributing equally to the BSA of TCR/CD1d interface, whereas the interaction in type I NKT TCR mCD1d Ag is largely germline mediated and primarily driven by the CDR loop region encoded within the α chain (Rossjohn et al., 2012). However, the TRAV4*01 TCR mCD1d framework was found to be more similar to that of type II TCR CD1d complexes determined to date. It, therefore, remains an interesting question as to why TRAV4*01 type II TCR required a type I NKT TCR like recognition mode to establish type II NKT TCR footprint? It may be possible that TRAV4*01 type II TCR prerequisite type I like docking mode for its positive selection in the thymus. That brings us to choose certain paths, even if the underlying truth of these paths hasn t been recognized. The things that makes us ticks can be thought of mistakes. A professor of psychology and behavioral economics, Dan Ariely, studied this issue up close. Through his book, Predictably Irrational, these mistakes are both explained and contextualized as human error. Something that all of us do on a daily basis without any recognition. And even when we recognize our misconceptions, we still have a tendency to do it again. While reading Predictably Irrational, I came across several personal . Things like, procrastination and overvaluing materialistic things are two of many misconceptions I have been aberrant to. We, humans, have a tendency to be aberrant, walking out of reasonable paths and into irrational ones. Ariely thoroughly explains how emotions dictate behaviors and decisions we make. Us procrastinators, acknowledge that we do infact procrastinate. The real problem is how we act, knowing we have tendencies to procrastinate. Emotions rush through our veins and speaks louder then our consciousness. As Ariely explained, we are in the cool state when we are making promises such as, spending less or exercising more with a diet. But as soon as we spot materialistic things, our emotions come rush in bringing us to the hot state. When we ignore our long term goals for the immediate fulfilment, we are in fact ... This means that by law, women have the right to get abortions without facing unnecessary restrictions. According to Roe v. Texas only has six clinics that meet these tough restrictions, which means some women would have to travel hundreds of miles just to get an abortion. In this story, the boat initiates a new stage in the relationships between the boys and the girls and how does the boat have an influence on their sexual awareness. Firstly , the boat has an important influence in this story because it takes the kids on some sort of adventure and change there relationship . For example, at the beginning of the story they largely remain separated from on another and they only converse with one another occasionally, and that communication usually takes the form of hurling insults at one another. Look at the fat assed ducks in wading , and Fat assed fucks (Munro 366). This stage of their relationship begins to change after the girls find the boat and share that finding with the boys. We can observe that the characters are very childish at the beginning of the story and that sooner or later their growth was about to begin. Therefore it is at this moment that we can come to conclusion that the boat , which is the main symbol of this story , is about to begin. This party was founded in Oakland, California by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale during the 1960 s. This party was dedicated to combating white oppression, and did so by the use of both peaceful and violent actions. Looking back at the history of the Black Panthers, it can be clearly seen that the peaceful idea of equality for all spawned this group and their violent actions for the main reason that they were willing to do anything to defend their beliefs. One of the greatest reasons for the violent actions of the party, should be credited to the co founder named Huey Newton. Huey Newton was a rebellious individual who was suspected of committing many crimes. As minister of defense within the party, Huey was seen as a leader to the members of the organization. In an interview with Newton, he made clear what he wanted the party to stand for, and what they needed to do to achieve this. In an excerpt from the interview transcript, he says that there are two kinds of nationalism, revolutionary and reactionary nationalism. Revolutionary nationalism is first dependent upon a People s revolution with the end goal being the people in power... If you are a reactionary nationalist you are not a socialist and your end goal is the oppression of the people. (Newton 1). From this transcript, it can be inferred what kind of nationalism Huey wants the party to follow. He wants the people to gain power through the use of violence And extremism. As the interview continues, Huey states the views of the Black Panther Party by saying The Black Panther Party, which is a revolutionary group of black people, realizes that we have an identity. We have to realize our black heritage in order to give us strength to move on and progress (Newton 1). By saying this, Huey is announcing to the world that the Black Panthers are going to cause a dramatic change, and implies that they will do whatever is necessary as long as they have the strength. The cause for violence from peaceful ideas is largely due to the leadership. The minister of Education George Murray made many speeches that supported the violent actions, and encouraged them. We need to manage their routine such as the duration of play. We can assess their behaviours (emotional environment) also. We are a role model and hence our behaviour pattern can guide them to an acceptable level. We need to interact positively with children as they observe and learn to talk and act with warmth and respect towards others or develop patience. We need to sympathise, understand their point of view and avoid being judgemental of their actions and thoughts. It gives a feeling of importance and helps the child open up and share more information. We can provide additional support to children with slow motor skills and help them overcome frustration. For example, if they find writing difficult, a keyboard can be used to simplify the task. Or, motivate them to read by providing books that they like such as those of current super heroes. Investigating The Optical Performance Of Photonic Crystals abstract Photonic crystal is a composite dielectric with periodic modulation of refractive index that brings about unique photonic band gap effect by which light could be totally reflected on the surface of such material regardless of any incident angle or mode. Such bandgap effect could be understood by investigating the optical performance of photonic crystals. In this paper, photonic bandgap calculations are performed for two dimensional photonic crystals using matlab. Plane wave expansion method is used to solve Maxwell s equations. The effect of lattice constant and refractive index is investigated. Introduction Photonic crystals are special class of optical media with periodic modulation of refractive index by arrangement of dielectric material. They respond to light waves over a desired range of frequencies by perfectly reflecting them or allowing them to propagate only in certain directions or confining them within a specified volume. Photons either propagate through this structure or they don t. Frequencies that propagate are called modes, and groups of allowed modes form bands. Disallowed bands of frequencies are called photonic band gaps. This property of photonic bandgap is utilised to manipulate light propagation. In particular, we can design and construct photonic crystals with photonic band gaps, preventing light from propagating in certain directions with specified frequencies By transmitting signals with ... Everyone wanted to help for their beliefs and God, and gave gifts, money, and resources. Even the Greeks, who later defeated the Persians, saw Cyrus as a model ruler (textbook 132). Even more so, according to the Persian Customs article, most of the clans were made by Cyrus, and the rest, nomad tribes, heavily depended on Cyrus tribes. • 41. Aristotle s Philosophy On The View Of Friendship Aristotle was an ancient Greek philosopher. Aristotle s philosophy was his logical concept. Aristotle s objective was to come up with a universal process of reasoning that would allow man to learn every imaginable thing about reality. He wrote on a vast amount of subjects during his lifetime, such as biology, chemistry, physics, ethics and logic. Aristotle wrote a book called, Nicomachean Ethics. This book describes the view of friendship. He also describes three different type of friendship, which in reality is exactly how friendship is in today society. The question while reading this information is what is friendship in Aristotle point of view? Aristotle believes that there are three different kinds of friendship; that of utility, friendship of pleasure, and virtuous friendship. In his book he describe exactly what each type of friendship really is. Friendship that is of utility is where both people derive some benefit from each other. Is like saying that these people are friends from each other by gaining something else from the other. They are not friends for the good of it; they are friends because there are benefits coming from them. Aristotle describes a friendship of utility as narrow, easily dissolved or for the old. He views them as such because this type of friendship is easily broken and based on something that is brought to the relationship by the other person. Most of the people that have this type of friendship are the young people. They do not know ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Legal Aspects Of Emulations And Emulators GAMES Convenience of Emulators: (Sinh Ly) The legal aspects of emulations and emulators are tied with its association with ROMs, as defined by Nintendo as Read Only Memory, which are usually illegally ripped (2015). An emulator is a software that attempts to replicate the functions of another platform, in this case, a gaming console or portable system, to run the code and interpret data from plugins that can interpret signals from a controller and used with the program (Newman, 2013). The creation of emulators themselves are perfectly legal as an act of investigation and analysis (Newman, 2013). If these emulators were to be used in conjunction with new devices, such as the Retrode, which allows for classic game cartridges to be read via USB on an emulator installed onto a computer, then the act would be deemed legal (Orland, 2013). However, as the Orland stated himself, These ROMS are legal, even though they re identical to illegal ones you could find elsewhere, (2013) such thoughts leads to the negative connotation of promoting piracy that is associated with emulators when the gaming industry thinks of them. According to Nintendo (2015) on their opinions towards emulation: The introduction of emulators created to play illegally copied Nintendo software represents the greatest threat to date to the intellectual property rights of video game developers. • 43. The Underlying Message Essay The Underlying Message Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is not specifically about orthodox Zen Buddhist practice nor does if specifically teaches how to repair a motorcycle. It does, however, dig into the inner structure of the thought process to form a foundation to support any form of logic. This is accomplished by means of a trek through the author s mind as he recounts his past in attempt to rediscover who he once was. As the author comes to term with his duality, the reader is conditioned to understand the author s philosophical ideas, which are the underlying beams of his value system. Pirsig presents his message through lectures to the reader. These lectures are comprised of history, philosophy, and common sense. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Are they really needed to judge a student s progress, or do they just blind the student from the true objective of learning? To answer the question an experiment was conducted which in return raised more questions and experiments. The focus went from the class reaction to a particular student and from the student to an assignment. Ultimately, the assignment, an essay about the town where the student resided, focused upon a single brick in a single building of the town. From the preceding episode Pirsig demonstrated how a complex problem could be solved systematically. More importantly, he also showed how one must be led to understanding and that it cannot be merely preached. In the case of the individual student, she could not write a rhetorical paper until the subject was simple enough for her to understand. Granted, Phaedrus continued to tell his student what to write about, but once she could see how for herself, she no longer needed to be dictated. Working back up and putting the pieces of the problem back together, the students then were in position to decide for themselves what is the importance of grades. Half the class was not in accordance with the instructor s opinion, but that was not the intention, or he would have just told them what is the purpose of the grading system according to his own opinion. The author is careful to point out that this divide and conquer method does not always work on a general scale but only on an individual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Gun Control Controls Nothing Essays More and more frequently, we are saddened by the news of mass shootings. Whether it takes place in a school or public area, these shootings are both disastrous and mortifying. Families begin to feel anger and sadness, and demand immediate justice. Although these terrible events continue to happen, there have been no significant steps taken towards the reduction in the number of weapons; specifically assault rifles. This leads one to question do we need to ban the right to possess such weapons? If the possession of these weapons is not made illegal, we run the risk of another attack. While there is no questioning the severity of these mass shootings, a ban on assault rifles is not the answer because they are not the cause of such events, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bill definitely has good intentions, but the fact of the matter is that these shootings are anomalies. Since 2006, there have only been six cases in which ten or more people were killed in a given shooting (USA Today). Therefore, these are not common events. At less than once per year for the last seven years, it is something that might even go unnoticed had there not been a great deal of news coverage following such events. To add to that, out of the 231 mass killings in the United States in the last seven years, only a mere thirty two of these cases have been due to guns (USA Today). This means that there are many more important issues than assault rifles when it comes to the prevention of mass shootings. One of the main issues with mass shootings is not the guns but the people who wield the guns. In the United States, less than six percent of people are considered to have serious mental disorders (National Institute of Mental Health). Less than one percent of that number would even be at the risk of committing as catastrophic a crime as a mass shooting. This is the type of person who would do such a thing. Again, this is not common at all. We are talking about a handful of people in the whole country, yet news coverage and popular opinion makes it out to be a common event. • 45. Persuasive Speech On Child Soldiers Is it known to the billions in this world, of the many who are unfairly tortured? Thousands and thousands of people are tormented, and living a difficult life. Of these thousands, are child soldiers. Child soldiers experience awful wars with bloodshed, which no child should ever experience. The Middle East, where most children are recruited, is filled with cities of rubble. Children living in this environment can t go to school, starve and may even be abandoned or separated from their parents. Being in war, child soldiers commit crimes each and every time they land a foot on the battlefield. Is this their choice? Is it considered fun for them to play with weapons? Should they be forgiven for their actions? Child soldiers should be given amnesty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Viewers who support not forgiving child soldiers say child soldiers need to learn that what they did was wrong and by sending them to tough camps like Guantanamo Bay, they will have time to understand their mistakes. However, keeping these children in an as equal harsh environment will only trigger there actions to go and further violate laws. Like said previously, Omar Khadr, a child soldier now living in Guantanamo Bay, went on to murder U.S Army Sgt. First Class Christopher Speer. Despite that fact that others believe there are many children who choose to become a soldier, there is always are driving factor which possibly may seem like a children s choice. In other words, this claim is untrue. Children not only become child soldiers because they are abandoned by their parents, or are forced, sometimes the parents have little money and send their kids off. The parents can t keep up with bills or feeding the family, so their only hope to make money is deporting their children for the maximum pay of $1.50. This situation of send off may look like the child chose to be in the military, but this is inaccurate. Lastly, critics argue child soldiers are better fighters than adult soldiers. ...
