7 Habits of Highly Effective People
I think win/lose way to often, it demonstrates my selfishness that is influencing me. It generated
a negative emotional bank account by my sister. I think win/lose, especially with my sister; I
believe I made her think lose/win to get it over with. She doesn t think that way just with me,
but also with other people, because I think I made her insecure about herself. Now that I have
realized that, I am trying to compensate by either thinking lose/win or win/win. So I will get
back in the positive emotional bank account. It is quite a challenge for someone who has always
been thinking win/lose to go over to win/win or lose/win. I do believe I have been working on it
very well and that it s going a lot better. It has already demonstrated my self awareness, and
imagination, but I have to listen a little more to my conscience, to accomplish my independent
will. Covey s habit 4 I believe is one of the easiest habit but also a very effective habit to become
successful and well liked, without having to take advantage of anyone. I loved to read his
examples, especially the one of the software company that was almost going bankrupt and
accepted to not follow the contract, but then after that was asked for a way bigger service. It
shows that if you think lose/win at first that it might be a bigger win later. Habit 5: Seek First to
Understand, Then to be Understood When I recently arrived in Canada from The Netherlands I was
shocked by the difference in the culture. I came from a

The Military Forces Who Delivered Exemplary Performance
(Challenge Coins)
Custom coins were primarily used to reward members of the military forces who delivered
exemplary performance. This small coin features the organization s distinctive logo. Members carry
it as a proof of their membership.
The use of Challenge coins started during the World War I where all members of the United States
Navy Force, the Flying Squadron received bronze coins. History shows that one of their pilots
successfully escapes captivity from the German troops. He fled to France, where they accused him
of being a spy and sentenced him to death. The French forces were able to verify his identity
through his bronze coin and saved him from the execution.
Thereafter, the members of the armed forces created the medallion challenge. If a member cannot
present his coin, he needs to pay a drink for the challenger.
Nowadays, custom coins still serve as a symbol of camaraderie and solidarity among unit members.
Its popularity extends to various organizations such as the fire department, police units, school
clubs, weddings and many others. Customized coins feature unique elements distinct to the
organization.
Challenge coins are special coins containing inscription of the name and emblem of the
organization. People with significant accomplishments acquire special coins as a form of
recognition.
For the military forces, custom coins are prized possessions. Fellow soldiers ensure that they take
home the military coins of killed or wounded members. It is a great

DISCUSSION
HISTORICAL FIRE REGIME
LIGHTNING
Before Aboriginal and European settlement, lightning was the primary natural source of fire,
especially in tropical parts of Australia (Kohen, 1996). These lightning caused bushfires have
drastically shaped the landscape and its vegetation. Plants have developed different adaptations to
tolerate these fires and in turn contributed to the natural diversity in the area. The Mountain Ash
(Eucalyptus regnans) trees growing in forests east of Melbourne are great examples of a tree
species adapted to bushfires. These trees are usually killed by intense fire but their seeds germinate
fast in the ash bed left behind by the fire (Museum Victoria, n.d.).
The city of Melbourne historically had a mix of grass, scrub, and trees in its landscape due to its
relatively flat terrain and its low elevation. Like the rest of the state of Victoria, lightning has played
an important role in shaping ecosystems and affecting different vegetation types.
ABORIGINAL FIRES
Fire events have increased ever since the Aboriginals have occupied the landscape about 40,000
years ago (Lindenmayer Burgman, 2005). They used fire to their advantage and helped change the
landscape in addition to lightning.

An Essay About The Parthenon
The Parthenon, once a magnificent work of art, has long been an archeological ruin with pieces of
the sculptures that were once a part of it on display in many European museums and, of course, in
Greece. Those locations other than Greece have been the center of a long going debate regarding
whether the sculptures should remain in those places or if they should be sent back to whence they
came. The sculptures are a part of Greek history, and they were once attached to The Parthenon,
created as a temple for Greek goddess Athena. Greece should have the right to put all their pieces
from this creation on display in their own museums and buildings. The marbles began in Greece,
and they should end up back in Greece as well. The area on which the Parthenon was built was
not always a barren rock hill. The area surrounding the Parthenon used to be a village complete
with houses and gardens. It was like this until the 1830s when the Greeks won their war for
independence from Turkish rule. There was then a new ascension to the throne by a Bavarian
Prince named Otto. He wanted to find a way to showcase symbols of patriotism in a country that
was starting anew at the end of the war. Because of this, the area around the Parthenon is now The
Acropolis hill, which is no longer a village, rather it is a hill with many monuments and sculptures

The Ford Mustang And The Corvette
Over the past sixty years, the American car scene has been dominated by two completely different
vehicles and the entire communities that believe in them. Both designed, founded, and rooted in
Detroit, Michigan, the Ford Mustang and the Corvette have continued to fuel the chase for the label
of America s true muscle car. The question over the years has been, why and how do consumers
choose which to own, and which one is our bald eagle ? Investigating deeper into the roots of each
American superpower, it all began with introduction of something that would change the
automotive industry forever. Corvette: Dream Car Come True , is an article that highlights the
beginning of the car movement in the United States: the birth of Chevrolets Corvette. Born in 1953
at the General Motors plant in Flint, Michigan, the Corvette grew up on the raceway and has
ruled the road ever since (Seiden 14). The article also goes on to mention that the Corvette is not
for racers only. True car lovers own Corvette cars for everyday driving... and the highest
performance standards have been built into every model (Seiden 14). Early dominance of
Corvettes on and off the racetrack, led other competitors such as Ford Motor Companywonder why
and how the Corvette could be out driven and out sold. Directly opposing the release of the
Corvette and its multipurpose ingenuity Lee Iacocca, then general manager of Ford Motor
Company, challenged his design team to create a car that could be driven to

Call Of The Wild Identity Essay
Identity is something that is very important to who we are and how we interact with others. Much
of this is influenced by our surroundings and the conditions that we are presented with. Buck in The
Call of the Wild begins his transformation into a beast when he is thrown into the grim terrain of the
north. Along with this, the American people during the Frontierwere shaped by the open land in the
west that they were forced to adapt to. In the Call of the Wild and Turner s Frontier Thesis, both
Buck and the American people s identity were shaped because of the surrounding geography.
Initially in the story, Buck had it easy. He was born a domesticated St. Bernard/Scotch shepherd
who lived with Judge Miller in the sun kissed Santa Clara ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This transition completely transformed the life of Buck forever. While being transported from
place to place, his pride suffered an utter blow. He was no longer in this domain where he could
freely live. Instead, he was constantly conformed, handled, and controlled by the power of
others. One major strike at Buck s pride occurred when he was beaten by the man with the club.
After he is hit, it is clear that, the club was a revelation. It was his introduction to the reign of
primitive law, and he met the introduction halfway (London 6). This shows that as Buck moves
further and further from home, he begins to stray away from his previous way of life. His
domestic nature fades away and the inner beast inside of him is revealed.
As Buck enters an unfamiliar world as a wild sled dog, he undergoes many physical changes.
The grim geography of the rigid north had many adverse effects on Buck s once pristine build.
One example of Buck suffering physically is when he experiences extreme pain in his feet
caused by the rugged terrain of the journey north. Buck s feet were not so compact and hard as
the feet of the huskies. His had softened during the many generations since the day his last wild
ancestor was tamed by a cave dweller or river man (London 18). This shows that as Buck treks
across the ice and snow with the rest of the pack, his feet become weathered and wounded. His feet
are not as tough as the other dogs due to his upbringing and his ancestral history. Along

the journey to find the Daughter of the Water God of a male character named Chuong. Being
obsessed by the story of this Goddess during the whole of his childhood, he spent his whole life
to find this imaginary symbol in the context of a real life of misery. His life is hard with a sad
childhood and difficult adulthood. On the way to find the Daughter of the Water God, he found
so many misfortunes, difficulties, challenges, wrongdoings, as well as cheating, lies, hates,
selfishness, and greediness, etc. Sometimes he found love and a person who truly loved him.
However, she was not the person he wished to find. Finally, similar to other people chasing just
imaginary things, he would never see and find the Daughter of the Water God even he searched
for her over half of his life. He did not stop, and still continued going, going forever. He tried to

Comparing Twentieth Century Political Thought Leo Strauss...
Introduction
When it comes to an analysis of twentieth century political thought Leo Strauss and Richard Rorty
are two indispensable figures. Rorty was a pupil of Strauss at the University of Chicago, and was
always quick to acknowledge the influence that his former teacher had on his writing. In the
following paper I will briefly highlight and critique the fundamental arguments presented by the
duo. Certainly, Rorty and Strauss share a degree of commonality in their critique of the
Enlightenment. Furthermore, I will assert that Rorty s pragmatic argument and Strauss esotericism
share a degree of kinship. However, when it comes to a close examination of the works of the
respective scholars, it becomes clear that they had vastly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A clear representation of this dynamic is provided by Plato s allegory of the cave. A particular
philosopher may be able to free themselves from the shadows and experience the delights of the sun
waiting outside, but for Strauss only disaster awaits if said philosopher attempts to re enter the cave
and help those that she/he has left behind.
This leads into Strauss vociferous attack on modern political thought and the Enlightenment project.
According to him, modern society mired in the chaos of intellectual anarchy, characterized by the
fact that political philosophy is in a state of decay or putrefaction. Clearly, Strauss does not hold the
Enlightenment or the transition to modernity in high esteem. In fact as Ronald Beiner affirms,
Strauss entire project is a never ceasing polemic against the Enlightenment, which he blames for the
breaking the aforementioned distinction between the masses and philosophers. For example, the
likes of Hobbes, Spinoza, and Locke may have written in an esoteric manner, but at the same time
they foolishly pursued the idea that this divide could and should be bridged. As Beiner continues,
the cornerstone of Enlightenment thought was the idea that philosophy could benefit society by
helping people to be more educated and tolerant , and thus serve as a valuable tool in advancing
humanity as a whole.

The Development of Diverse Sexual Orientation in Human
Human psychosexual development is the complex learning in today s society. What is the
meaning of sexual orientation? Obviously, it has to be related to sex. It is a way for people to
choose their partners to have sex with. Most of people would say it means either interested in men
or are interested in women. This is called sexual orientation. In the book Gay Straight, and the
reason why written by Simon LeVay, the first chapter of talker about what sexual orientation is,
We usually judge sexual orientation based on a person sexual attraction to men and to women

the interviewees feelings of sexual attraction at the very instant of being asked, of course but to
their tendency or predisposition to experience such feelings over some extended period of time,

Techmall Case Analysis
1. What are the revenue streams for TechMall?
TechMall s revenue streams are rather simplistic. They receive a $750 one time set up fee from all
new merchants added into the TechMall system and a $50 statement fee, or maintenance fee, per
month from all members. In addition, they receive a fee on each sales transaction, which is variable
based on the dollar volume of the merchant s transactions. TechMall s standard pricingschedule
indicates this revenue stream to be in the form of a 2% commission on all items sold by member
merchants with a maximum commission receivable of $200.
2. What drives or causes each of the revenue streams and how much does Tech Mall expect to earn
from an additional sale in each stream?

Since the transaction fee revenue stream is based on 2% of sales dollars capped at $200 we can
see that sales over $10,000 would not produce any value added for TechMall ($200/2% =
$10,000). Because of this condition, and since we were not provided with specific amounts for
each transaction conducted, we have to simply assume that customers would not spend in excess of
$10,000 on an online tech store such as TechMall.com. This assumption is strengthened when we
calculate that the year 4 average transaction amount is just $58.53, which was calculated by
dividing the total transaction dollars, $87,470,566 by total number of transactions, 1,494,547

Walden by Henry David Thoreau
In perhaps his greatest reflection, Walden, Thoreau states be it life or death, we crave only
reality. The excerpt from pages 49 to 50 focuses on the quest for this elusive truth. Serving both
as a call to action as well as an instructional guide, this passage takes readers through a cleansing
of all the superfluities of life. He laments how life has corrupted the natural state of purity he was
born with, but with intellect as his primary tool, he has tried to truly find himself. In this
passage, Thoreau instructs his readers to discover their reality, and from this point, build a
foundation to begin their own journey of self discovery. Although it can be considered a
descriptive piece, this passage aims at persuasion if not outright conversion. To remove the
conventional distance between author and audience, and to connect with his reader, Thoreau uses
the first person. Repeating Let us instead of you must, he establishes a conversation instead of a
lecture (49). In addition, Thoreau relies on pathos to achieve his rhetorical aims and get people to
cleanse their life. Phrases like sweet edge dividing your heat, rattle in our throats and feel cold in
the extremities attack the readers senses, and sweeping ideas such as future ages, life, death, and
eternity lend the passage emotional appeal (49, 50). Thoreau also creates a stipulative definition of
reality, giving a generally clinical word a more emotional meaning (49). Rhetorical questions such

How Do Advertisers Make Advertisements
How do advertisers make ads to persuade you? Advertisements implement different strategies in
order to persuade the viewers using ethos, pathos, and logos. Ethos is appealing to the viewers
character. Pathos is the way something provokes an emotion. Logos is using numbers and
reasoning to persuade an audience. In the anti smokingcampaign ads, the creators test the
effectiveness of the ads by appealing to the audience using pathos in two different types of ways.
The first ad contains an image of a young adult male smoking a cigarette. The cigarette smoke
creates an image of a gun aimed at his head. In the bottom right corner there is a note that says,
Kill a cigarette and save a life. Yours. The entire ad is in black and white to create a depressing
mood. This ad uses pathos to persuade the audience by provoking the emotion of depression and
death of an adolescent. This ad targets a younger audience member along with parents. From a
younger person s point of view it looks like the boy is basically committing suicide. From a
parent s point of view, it makes them want to stop young people from smoking because it shows
it can kill them, so it would be there way of protection. The second ad contains an image of a
man that is appealing to the eye. This man is being choked by a cigarette that is acting like a hand.
The ad is like a smooth caramel looking color to match along with the man s smooth skin. This ad
mainly targets women because the man is

Globalized Islam By Olivier Roy
In Olivier Roy s book, Globalized Islam, he writes about propaganda targets individuals, not groups
as the strategy used Islamists, when elaborating a political program, targets groups, and more
precisely social groups (impoverished neo urbanites, students from the lower and middle classes,
and so on). Roy continues on to share their reasoning for the method of targeting individuals, not
groups [author s italicization]. This remains congruent with their strategy of going to the polls; an
electorate is always a collective and anonymous entity. Roy goes on to state why the new preachers
use another method. But the new preachers target individuals, for the simple reason that they do
not have a global political and social project, except implementation of sharia. In contrast he goes
on to explain how the Taliban s agenda differs. Even the Taliban, who were ruling a real country,
never cared about implementing any economic or social program, but were exclusively concerned
with sharia. Consequently, individual Muslims that relocate from their own culture to migrate to
the western world still remain well rooted in their religion despite the fact that no special
accommodations are made for their religion. No allowances are made for Muslims to abide
naturally and easily by the tenets of their religion. Hence the implementation of binding religious
obligations rests on the good goodwill of the believer, not on any external cultural pressure or a
state s legal

The varied traditions and beliefs of a multicultural country impact how nurses implement patient

How Did Nicholas Sarkozy Ban The Construction Of More...
Amidst the furore instigated by the Swiss minaret referendum in 2009 (Migration Policy Institute,
2009), former French president Nicolas Sarkozy voiced his sympathy and his understanding for
the collective decision to ban the construction of more minarets within Switzerland through an
article titled Respecter ceux qui arrivent, respecter ceux qui accueillent (Sarkozy, 2009b).
Sarkozy s article first appeared in the December 8th publication of Le Monde a French daily
newspaper in 2009, and was subsequently edited and translated by The Guardian, an English news
agency based in the United Kingdom (Sarkozy, 2009a). It is of importance to note that this
discourse is based on the translated (English) version of Sarkozy s article. Given the nature of
translations, expressions and connotations from the original commentary may be altered and hence,
discrepancies may arise.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although his argument may seem compelling upon first glance, due to Sarkozy s vast omission of
crucial information, it is evident that his claims are incomplete, erroneous, and moreover, a

argument, confront his baseless conclusions by considering and highlighting four factors: the
background and cause of the Swiss minaret vote, the opposition and their perspective, the image and
lives of Muslims in Switzerland and France, and the development of populism; additionally, to

Improving Phonological Awareness
It is often understood that educators are charged with the responsibility to educate children in a
holistic way. As such, educators must have the best interest of their students at heart if their
objective is to teach well. They can prevent the students from failure when they recognize that their
students are not heading in the path to success. It is greatly recognize that readingis essential in the
development of a child as previous mentioned, Davis and Davis (2014) referered to reading as the
building block of life. The different studies analyzed on the correlation of phonological awareness
and reading exposed that phonological awareness is an important factor in learningto read or
improving reading skills in struggling reads. However, there are other skills that a child s need
to master for him/her to become an avid reader. As documented in this study, there have been
many intense studies for over the past three decade on struggling readers lacking phonological
awareness. Being a struggling reader can lead to their low academic performance in core subject
areas like Math and English may lead them to develop low self esteem to the point where they stop

of Japan s retail industry as a whole.
Seven eleven Japan developed an extensive franchise network and performed a key role in the
daily operations of this network. The network included both company owned stores and 3th party

on a market dominance strategy (you must see to what extent a product, brand, or firm controls a
product category in a given geographic area)
How did they achieve the market dominance strategy? Seven eleven Japan opened the majority of

Advertising for 4G Technology with Sprint
Introduction
One of the most heavily advertised areas of technology in the United States currently is 4G
technology. Every commercial and advertisement promises fast speeds, great coverage, and
exceptional service altogether. However, the competition proves to be extreme and unbalanced.
Since its introduction on Sprint s network, 4G, or fourth generation cellular technology, has
revolutionized both the telecommunication arena while spilling into other technological fields.
There is no end in sight for the relentless competition of expanding 4G technologies as coverage
and network speeds continue to increase. Currently, 4G technology is offered by all major
telecommunication carriers in the United States: Verizon, AT T, T Mobile, and Sprint. However,
the term 4G has been loosely used. The best example of this can be associated with Sprint. The
initial 4G technology Sprint offered was based of WiMAX technology. WiMAX proved to be fast
technology, but lackluster in its performance and capabilities in regards to LTE. LTE has
become the primary 4G technology in the United States while development of WiMAX has
ceased. In addition, Sprint s 4G vision has switched to LTE. The question is raised Why did LTE
win over WiMAX? . From many perspectives, LTE proved to be the superior technology.
The Power of Networking One can easily argue that one of the greatest things that developed in the
latter half of the twentieth century was the internet. By combining networks of networks

Social Conflict Theory Of Crime
If there was observable increase in crime in a particular community which results in an increase in
burglaries, auto theft and asset, and robbery, one could attribute the rise in crime to the social
conflict theory. The social conflict theory is defined as a Marco oriented paradigm in sociology
that views society as an arena of inequality that generates conflict and social change. (study.com)
Main points in this theoryfocus on the idea that society is structured to be beneficial to a monody,
supported by the contributions of the majority. For those who share the social conflict theory, there
is a deep rooted belief that a caste system exists which a dominate group is in conflict with the
minority group. Karl Marx was a German philosopher.

Ephesians
There s lots of times in our lives where we feel powerless. Maybe its tax season, the direction of
the country, control over our children or even our own lives. Yet God has promised Christians a
life that goes far beyond our fears of inadequacy. In Ephesians, Paul wrote to the church at
Ephesus: Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think,
according to the power that works within us, 21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ
Jesusto all generations forever and ever. Amen (Ephesians 3:20 21). This phrase: more abundantly

Paul s is basically repeating himself here as if saying: abundantly, abundantly. The motto of the
country of Spain is: Further Beyond. I wonder if they came up with this sailing to the New WOrld.
Indeed, we can learn a lot about God s plans fro us in the Bible, but God has so much more in store
for us than we can even comprehend or read about. Concerning everything we could ask we can
ask for quite a bit! We sometimes pray: Lord, I want a million dollars, and a brand new car. Well,
that s not exactly what God is teaching here. How about opportunities to reach the lost? Prayers
for patience? Prayers for wisdom? We can think quite a few things as well: Can God really help me
through this temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13)? Is God going to be there for me through the
hard times (Psalm 23)? Will He provided for my needs (Matthew 6:31 33)? Finally, the verse in
Ephesians says: according to the power that works within us. Its kind of scary to think of God
working in us. We have a boss in Heaven, and He expects us to work for Him. Yet He s the best

Inequality In Society In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron
Inequalities in the United States have existed for as long as we can remember. Everyone has
their own set of thoughts, values, and beliefs. This significant difference in all humans is what
has caused unequal treatment among people in the country. A substantial fraction of the U.S.
still discriminates against people who do not look, think, or speak like them. The second
paragraph of the Declaration of Independence states that all men are created equal . However,
some people still do not understand that everyone is, in fact, entitled to their own rights and
happiness. Everybody should also be allowed and encouraged to reach their highest levels of
success. However, modern day society is trying to create a new generation that celebrates
uniformity and mediocrity. With a lack of societal diversity, people do not have to worry about
feeling insignificant or less than others who might seem superior. Some might feel that this should
be the future of America, where everyone is equal in every aspect. I am part of a group of people
who believe that this kind of equal oppression would shatter everyone s original imagination,
creativity, intelligence, and overall individuality.
The topic of equality has been presented through various works throughout history. In Kurt
Vonneguts Harrison Bergeron , the fictional American society of 2081 mocks what might actually
become of America. Vonnegut creates characters that are unable to show any sort of intelligence,
passion, or

Bhaskar Bharti Directed By Pavan Kaul And Manoj Kotian
Behind every working woman, there is a large pile of unwashed laundry. This is a famous quote
by Barbara Dale . What we can be understand from this quote is that, women face a lot of
problems each and every day both in the society as well as in the working place. They are always
shown with a transparent lens criticizing each and every act of their s negatively. All this is
explained and illustrated through an Indian romantic comedy and feminist show titled Bhaskar
Bharti directed by Pavan Kaul and Manoj Kotian. This show explores how women are forced to
face with enormous variety of problems in the workplace by portraying the leading man named
Bhaskar as a playboy who cheats all women. Eventually, one of his girlfriends (whom he promised
to marry) curses him to turn into a woman, so that he may understand the pain and anguish that he
has caused her and other women. The curse comes true, and Bhaskar transforms into a woman that
night; it is, in fact, a punishment by the god to be transformed into a beautiful woman named Bharti
. The remaining story centers on how a man in the feet of woman undergoes the problems in the life
of woman at the workplace, society and henceforth, understands and changes drastically later during
the course of time. Bhaskar Bharti represents women s struggles with genderdominance and
pressures in working place and society by proving that the power should not be used to degrade
women, and that sisterhood is the ultimate power.

The Use of Narratives and Its Effect on Stories
The Use of Narratives and Its Effect on Stories
The use of narrative view are important for an author. It determines how the reader interpret the
story and ultimately understanding the theme. In the work of Hills Like White Elephant Ernest
Hemingway uses third person objective point of view to present the conflict of a young couple
over the difficult decision of whether to have an abortion. In comparison to Hemingway s work,
Great Falls by Richard Ford, tells the story of the breakdown of the parents relation through the
eyes of the protagonist Jackie. The authors of the two short stories use these different points of

Also the hill is long and white (Hemingway, 661 662). The description of the setting suggests the
couple s journey together is bland, empty and the lack of vagueness. Opposite to the station, Jig
walks across the fields of grain and tree along the banks of the Ebro (Hemingway 663). The setting
on the other side of the station, gives the reader a vivid image of life, something that Jig desires.
The conversation between the couple quickly escalates into a heated debate like the dry side of the
valley (Hemingway 664). Instead of directly revealing that conflict is about abortion, Hemingway
lets the reader interpret the intended operation through the setting and the tones of speech from the
character. Furthermore, through the third person narrative, Hemingway establishes the theme of
coming of age and valuing of life. While Hemingway slowly lets the reader in through an
indirect presentation of the issues and their struggle. On the other hand, Ford, by using first
person narrative, presents to the reader the voice of a man going back in time to talk about his
past. The setting of the story, as described by Jackie, is a flat, treeless bench land (Ford, 564),
suggesting the isolation and hopelessness Jackie faces. In addition, the direct way of telling the
reader about the standoff draws the reader closer to the narrator s feeling as if the reader is Jackie
standing next to his father; with all the hopelessness and cluelessness he endures. Furthermore,

There are other substantial contrasts between the two as well. In a news report the writer or

Early Intervention For Adolescent Substance Abuse
Summary
Liddle, H. A., Rowe, C. L., Dakof, G. A., Ungaro, R. A., Henderson, C. E. (2004). Early intervention
for adolescent substance abuse: Pretreatment to posttreatment outcomes of a randomized clinical
trial comparing multidimensional family therapy and peer group treatment. Journal of Psychoactive
Drugs, 36(1).
Abstract. The abstract discusses a randomized clinical trial that has been developed in order to
evaluate a family based therapy and a peer group therapy used with urban, low income, and
ethnically diverse adolescents between the ages 11 15 that have been referred for behavioral
problems and substance abuse. It briefly explains both treatments and how each was administered.
The abstract also discusses that these adolescents and their parents were assessed at intake, then
randomly assigned to either the family based therapy or peer group therapy treatment, and then
reassessed six weeks after intake and again at discharge. Results are briefly discussed in terms of
the effectiveness and purpose of the family based treatment, which was used to reduce risk and
promote protective processes in various domains, as well as reduce adolescent substance use.
Introduction. Drug use in early adolescence can be a determinant for later drug abuse; however,
clinicians are working on trying to stop drug use from progressing by intervening at the early
stages of adolescent drug use. Researchers have identified various risk and protective factors
involved with the

BRCA2 And Breast Cancer
BRCA 2 INFORMATION
BRCA1 and BRCA2 share a lot of similarities. BRCA2 is also a cause for hereditary breast
cancer and is also responsible for tumor suppressor proteins. BRCA2 is located on chromosome
thirteen. BRCA2 can repair breaks within DNA, such as DSBs and can regulate cytokinesis.
Cytokinesis is a process during cell division where the cytoplasm, the fluid inside the cells that is
enclosed by the cell membrane, of one parent cells splits into two daughter cells. BRCA2
mutations are more commonly found in people of Jewish and French Canadian backgrounds.

The Cruelty Of Animals And Animals
Tons of people in the world that love animals and enjoy having their company. This is why most
people have pets around their household. With these pets we often train them to do special tricks
for example with dogs, the classic shake or rollover is something owners love seeing. With every
new trick that they learn, we give them treats and lots of love. With the treat and love that we give
our pets, they feel loved and happy, maintaining their health and happiness and that also makes the
owners happy. Unfortunately for other animals across the world, they are abused constantly to be
fit enough to do special tricks to entertain people. Many people enjoy seeing animals doing tricks
and stunts, especially animals that are rare to be seen by the human population. But what they don t
know is how harmful it is to the animals. From the constant abuse, these animals life span are
shortened and more are getting hurt daily. These animals aren t actors yet thousands of these
animals are forced to perform meaningless tricks under physical punishment. With places like
SeaWorld and circuses, human trainers and performers choose to be there and entertain people
while the animals that are used in their facility have no choice and are forced to perform. While
there are some laws and organizations that help prevent animal use for entertainment, lack of
awareness surrounding the issue has allowed the use of these animals to continue and remained
unchecked. Marine parks, where captive

Hindenburg Disaster Changed The World Of Air Travel In The...
The Hindenburg disaster of 1937 changed the world of air travel in the 30 s. From a world with
airships commonly and widely used to them almost non existent. Airship travel was a fast and
luxurious way to travel in the 30 s. Thousands of successful trips were made on airships without
injury on a weekly basis. Commercial zeppelins had been around for about 30 years before this
event. Back in the day the Hindenburg was the fasted way to travel across the Atlantic ocean. The
Hindenburg consisted of a dining room, lounge, comfortable cabins, and a smoking room. 7 million
cubic feet of nitrogen gas held the Hindenburg up but ironically and unfortunately it would also

Kennedy Won The Democratic Convention
Democratic Presidential Nomination On April 30 1960, James Rowe, a Washington Lawyer, gave
$10,000 the campaign of Hubert H. Humphrey (Peters, P. 62). Rowe funded Humphrey s campaign
in hopes that Humphrey would defeat John F. Kennedy. Moreover, Rowe thought that this would
lead to Johnson s path of the presidency (Peters, P. 62) However; it was too late because Kennedy
was dominating the presidential nominations. Instead, Johnson was relying on his running mate
Humphrey to win the Democratic Convention. Ultimately, Johnson hoped that Humphrey would
choose him to be his vice president if Humphrey won the Democratic Convention. Johnson believed
that he was an excellent candidate because of his impressive record as Senate majority leader and
his friendship with powerful Democratic senators (Peters, P. 62). However, Johnson s strategy was
a failure because Humphrey lost to a landslide to Kennedy on May 9, 1960 (Bornet, P. 63)
Ultimately, Kennedy nearly received majority of the votes. Moreover, Kennedy won the
Democratic Convention nomination with 806 votes to 409 (Bornet, P. 64). Kennedy also offered
Johnson the vice presidential nomination in the 1960 nomination. Lastly, Kennedy offered Johnson
the vice president nomination because Kennedy knew that Johnson had a lot of connections in
Washington that could lead to his win in the 1960 presidential election. For instance, Johnson used
his personal connections to help Kennedy win the electoral vote from states that Kennedy

Case Problem Analysis Paper
Purchasing a car is never an easy decisions but many times a car is a necessity. The scenario
presented will be the following. The price of the used car is $20,000. Sales tax on this car is
8.4% of the price of the vehicle. You intend to finance the entire cost of the car and sales tax, less
a down payment of $1,500. You intend to finance the car for 48 months and your car payment will
be $455.12 per month. The amount financed will be the cash pricesubtracting the down payment.
In this case, the cash price will be $20,000 and the down payment is $1,500. After subtracting
these two amounts, I obtained that the amount financed will be $18,500. The installment price of
the car will be $23,345.76. This amount is obtained by multiplying the amounts of financing by
the monthly rate (48 x $455.12) which will equal $21,845.76 in addition you must add the down
payment of $1,500 to get the total value of the car. Finance charges will be the total amount of
$23,345.76 minus the cash price of $20,000.00. This will leave a finance charges to equal $3,345.76.

Cultural Issues In Australia
It is known that Australia is a multicultural and multiracial immigrant country. There are lots of
people living here with diverse cultural, ethnic, linguistic and religious background. Cultural
exchange and collision with different communities has become increasingly frequent as time
progresses. There is no doubt that benefit, such as promoting the development of the culture,
learning from the other s strength and offsetting one s weakness, will come into being by the
cultural communication. At the same time, challenges emerge to health care professionals at that
moment as well. When facing with transcultural issues, the situation will be much more
complicated for health care professionals. In this paper, transcultural issues and nursing assessment
and intervention are mainly demonstrated under the Australian health system. In Australian,
registered nurses are required to provide person centered care for patients from numerous various
backgrounds. This paper mainly discusses the comparison between two different ethnic and cultural
communities: Iraq and China. The four issues related the comparison about the person centered

advantage of widespread experience of maintaining quality with given limited resources, funds and

integrated with the extensive funds available to the private hospitals to achieve a higher social
health. Moreover, the public hospitals have an edge over private hospitals in communicating,
coordinating and taking care of patients at a community level. If the private and public hospitals

Devil Facial Tumour Disease Case Study
Introduction: What is Tasmanian Devil Facial Tumour Disease?
пЂЄIdentified in 1996 the Tasmanian Devil Facial Tumour Disease (DFTD) is the growth of fatal
tumours on the faces of Tasmanian Devils (Sarcophilus harrisii), specifically the mouth and teeth.
(Hamede RK, McCallum H Jones M, 2013)
пЂЄAffecting the largest carnivorous marsupial alive (Beeton N McCallum H, 2011) the tumour
cells are transmitted through the biting of one Devil to another either in attack to access food first,
or predominantly as part of mating. (Grueber CE et al. 2015)
пЂЄTasmanian Devils have little genetic diversity especially when it comes to a crucial
histocompatibility complex gene that is required for efficient immune system functioning in the
species. (Hamede ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Genetic Research on the Histocompatibility Complex and Telomeres
The DFTD tumour is accepted to be clonal, originating from a single Schwann cell that did not dye
in the Devil it first infected rather spreading through the species. (Grueber CE et.al 2015)
The Histocompatibility Complex genome is important for an organism to distinguish its own cells
from foreign cells, yet Tasmanian Devils have a variation in this gene resulting in the tumour cell
going unidentified by the body. (Siddle H et.al 2012)
Finding a way to restore the function of the Histocompatibility Complex genome so that it can
activate antibodies such as ОІ2 microglobulin (ОІ2 m) to kill the tumour should be an area focused
on because it can then be introduced into one infected Devil that can bite others and so the genome
is passed on. (Siddle H et.al 2012)
The DFTD tumour cells also have chromosomes that have been protected from misshaping by
strong Telomere and Shelterin compounds that should worn of long ago due to a lot of DNA
replication. (Grueber CE et al. 2015)
Targeting these Telomere/Shelterin compounds may be useful to suppress the tumour cells, killing
it off.Grueber CE et al. 2015

the first memory Jeannette Walls had in The Glass Castle . The plot of the story reveals her
childhood of poverty as she moved around the country with her delusional family. Her alcoholic
father and mentally ill mothercreated a very different lifestyle for their children, and raised them

In her younger years, Jeannette was an smart and imaginative child. At first, she enjoyed moving

family member who trusts his ideas. Unfortunately, he is a raging alcoholic who can t hold a job,
so most of his promises are broken. As Jeannette gets older, he lets her down more and more.
One time he brought her to a bar where she was then sexually violated. When the two had a talk
after, he said I knew you could handle yourself (Walls, 213,) instead of defending her. It was
upsetting to watch their relationship grow apart and to see how poorly he provided for his family,
yet they still loved him.

A study concerned with the possible connections between children s behavior and reading banned
books focused on the potential influence that such books have on civic behaviors, mental health
problems, students grade point averages, and violent and non violent crime. Findings suggest that
consumption of banned books promoted civic behavior and had no effect on grade point
averages and criminal activity, but increased the internalizing and externalizing mental health
symptoms. The potential correlation between increased symptoms of mental health issues and
banned book reading existed within a small subset of the subjects and cannot be proven to be
substantial. Overall, banned books seem to have little to no negative effect on the majority of
children and foster increased civic behaviors (Ferguson). While the motivation behind banning
books seems logical and justified, in reality, books have no substantial negative effects on most
children. In all actuality, banned books foster increased positive, civic behaviors, likely because
they teach children tolerance by exposing them to diverse characters and humanizes groups
whose lifestyle choices they may be unfamiliar and innately uncomfortable with. The Perks of
Being a Wallflower exposes students to multiple incarnations of homosexual characters Patrick, a

Antagonism Between Ja And Cytokinin
Antagonism between JA and cytokinin is of common occurrence in various plant growth and
developmental processes. Cytokinin, benzyladenine (BA) has been reported to antagonize the
effect of JA on root growth promotion in Solanum tuberosum (Sarkar et al., 2006). In cotyledons
of sunflower (Helianthus annuus), MeJA promoted senescence, whereas pretreatment with
cytokinin partially blocked MeJA induced senescence (Mukherjee et al., 2002). Liu et al. (2015)
concluded that exogenous applications of JA and cytokinin antagonistically regulated leaf
senescence in O. sativa senescence associated genes expression. They also proposed that leaf
senescence not only depends on the level of JA or cytokinin but also on the balance between JA
and cytokinin (Liu et al., 2015). Earlier, Ananieva and Ananiev (2003) argued that MeJA
promoted some aspects of senescence in intact Cucurbita pepo cotyledons partially due to down
regulation of endogenous levels of cytokinine levels and interconversion between active and
inactive forms of cytokines (Ananieva and Ananiev, 2003). Apart from the above reports,
antagonistic effect of cytokinins on the stimulatory effect of JAs has also been observed in potato
tuber formation under in vitro conditions (Sarkar et al., 2006). A synergistic effect of JA and
cytokinin has also been reported in T. aestivum to alleviate effects of salinity stress.

Essay On How To Play 3rb Base
Teach young kids to play 3rb base takes special care an instruction because it requires a different
skill set that the other infield positions. Even at the Little League level, the third base position
requires quick reflexes and a strong throwing arm. There are several aspects of the position that are
important to stress and ingrain in your young player from the first time they field the position in
practice.
Positioning 2
Proper Ready Stance 3
A hard hit ball will reach the third baseman much quicker than any other position on the diamond
so being ready to field the position is a key to success. A third baseman s ready stance should be
balanced, perched on the balls of his feet with his glove open and as close to the ground as
possible. Your player needs to learn to keep his head up, lean his back forward with our arching it
or shifting his balance to the from, and have his throwing hand next to his glove ready to trap any
ground ball that he looks into his glove. During practice, it is important to remind your young

If you watch baseball played at a high level, you will see that the third baseman will take two or
three steps onto the infield grass to anticipate the bunt, and then another step or two forward as the
pitch approaches the plate. We advise that you to avoid this technique and play your young infielder
even with the third base bag in a bunt situation. Bunt situations are often less defined in Little
League games. While some coaches try to emulate the major league game, there will be many times
will a player will swing away or show bunt to draw the infielders in before swinging at a pitch. If
a third baseman is moving forward with the pitch in anticipation of a bunt, he may be put in harm
s way should a batter be swinging away. It is generally a good idea to err on the side of caution
when it comes to the safety of young players learning the

  • 2. 7 Habits of Highly Effective People I think win/lose way to often, it demonstrates my selfishness that is influencing me. It generated a negative emotional bank account by my sister. I think win/lose, especially with my sister; I believe I made her think lose/win to get it over with. She doesn t think that way just with me, but also with other people, because I think I made her insecure about herself. Now that I have realized that, I am trying to compensate by either thinking lose/win or win/win. So I will get back in the positive emotional bank account. It is quite a challenge for someone who has always been thinking win/lose to go over to win/win or lose/win. I do believe I have been working on it very well and that it s going a lot better. It has already demonstrated my self awareness, and imagination, but I have to listen a little more to my conscience, to accomplish my independent will. Covey s habit 4 I believe is one of the easiest habit but also a very effective habit to become successful and well liked, without having to take advantage of anyone. I loved to read his examples, especially the one of the software company that was almost going bankrupt and accepted to not follow the contract, but then after that was asked for a way bigger service. It shows that if you think lose/win at first that it might be a bigger win later. This small coin features the organization s distinctive logo. Members carry it as a proof of their membership. The use of Challenge coins started during the World War I where all members of the United States Navy Force, the Flying Squadron received bronze coins. History shows that one of their pilots successfully escapes captivity from the German troops. He fled to France, where they accused him of being a spy and sentenced him to death. The French forces were able to verify his identity through his bronze coin and saved him from the execution. Thereafter, the members of the armed forces created the medallion challenge. If a member cannot present his coin, he needs to pay a drink for the challenger. Nowadays, custom coins still serve as a symbol of camaraderie and solidarity among unit members. Its popularity extends to various organizations such as the fire department, police units, school clubs, weddings and many others. Customized coins feature unique elements distinct to the organization. Challenge coins are special coins containing inscription of the name and emblem of the organization. The Mountain Ash (Eucalyptus regnans) trees growing in forests east of Melbourne are great examples of a tree species adapted to bushfires. These trees are usually killed by intense fire but their seeds germinate fast in the ash bed left behind by the fire (Museum Victoria, n.d.). The city of Melbourne historically had a mix of grass, scrub, and trees in its landscape due to its relatively flat terrain and its low elevation. Like the rest of the state of Victoria, lightning has played an important role in shaping ecosystems and affecting different vegetation types. ABORIGINAL FIRES Fire events have increased ever since the Aboriginals have occupied the landscape about 40,000 years ago (Lindenmayer Burgman, 2005). They used fire to their advantage and helped change the landscape in addition to lightning. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. An Essay About The Parthenon The Parthenon, once a magnificent work of art, has long been an archeological ruin with pieces of the sculptures that were once a part of it on display in many European museums and, of course, in Greece. Those locations other than Greece have been the center of a long going debate regarding whether the sculptures should remain in those places or if they should be sent back to whence they came. The sculptures are a part of Greek history, and they were once attached to The Parthenon, created as a temple for Greek goddess Athena. Greece should have the right to put all their pieces from this creation on display in their own museums and buildings. The marbles began in Greece, and they should end up back in Greece as well. The area on which the Parthenon was built was not always a barren rock hill. The area surrounding the Parthenon used to be a village complete with houses and gardens. It was like this until the 1830s when the Greeks won their war for independence from Turkish rule. There was then a new ascension to the throne by a Bavarian Prince named Otto. He wanted to find a way to showcase symbols of patriotism in a country that was starting anew at the end of the war. Because of this, the area around the Parthenon is now The Acropolis hill, which is no longer a village, rather it is a hill with many monuments and sculptures from the Fifth... Both designed, founded, and rooted in Detroit, Michigan, the Ford Mustang and the Corvette have continued to fuel the chase for the label of America s true muscle car. The question over the years has been, why and how do consumers choose which to own, and which one is our bald eagle ? Investigating deeper into the roots of each American superpower, it all began with introduction of something that would change the automotive industry forever. Corvette: Dream Car Come True , is an article that highlights the beginning of the car movement in the United States: the birth of Chevrolets Corvette. Born in 1953 at the General Motors plant in Flint, Michigan, the Corvette grew up on the raceway and has ruled the road ever since (Seiden 14). The article also goes on to mention that the Corvette is not for racers only. True car lovers own Corvette cars for everyday driving... and the highest performance standards have been built into every model (Seiden 14). Early dominance of Corvettes on and off the racetrack, led other competitors such as Ford Motor Companywonder why and how the Corvette could be out driven and out sold. Much of this is influenced by our surroundings and the conditions that we are presented with. Along with this, the American people during the Frontierwere shaped by the open land in the west that they were forced to adapt to. This transition completely transformed the life of Buck forever. While being transported from place to place, his pride suffered an utter blow. He was no longer in this domain where he could freely live. Instead, he was constantly conformed, handled, and controlled by the power of others. One major strike at Buck s pride occurred when he was beaten by the man with the club. After he is hit, it is clear that, the club was a revelation. It was his introduction to the reign of primitive law, and he met the introduction halfway (London 6). This shows that as Buck moves further and further from home, he begins to stray away from his previous way of life. His domestic nature fades away and the inner beast inside of him is revealed. As Buck enters an unfamiliar world as a wild sled dog, he undergoes many physical changes. The grim geography of the rigid north had many adverse effects on Buck s once pristine build. One example of Buck suffering physically is when he experiences extreme pain in his feet caused by the rugged terrain of the journey north. Buck s feet were not so compact and hard as the feet of the huskies. His had softened during the many generations since the day his last wild ancestor was tamed by a cave dweller or river man (London 18). • 14. Comparing Twentieth Century Political Thought Leo Strauss... Introduction When it comes to an analysis of twentieth century political thought Leo Strauss and Richard Rorty are two indispensable figures. Rorty was a pupil of Strauss at the University of Chicago, and was always quick to acknowledge the influence that his former teacher had on his writing. In the following paper I will briefly highlight and critique the fundamental arguments presented by the duo. Certainly, Rorty and Strauss share a degree of commonality in their critique of the Enlightenment. Furthermore, I will assert that Rorty s pragmatic argument and Strauss esotericism share a degree of kinship. However, when it comes to a close examination of the works of the respective scholars, it becomes clear that they had vastly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A clear representation of this dynamic is provided by Plato s allegory of the cave. A particular philosopher may be able to free themselves from the shadows and experience the delights of the sun waiting outside, but for Strauss only disaster awaits if said philosopher attempts to re enter the cave and help those that she/he has left behind. This leads into Strauss vociferous attack on modern political thought and the Enlightenment project. According to him, modern society mired in the chaos of intellectual anarchy, characterized by the fact that political philosophy is in a state of decay or putrefaction. Clearly, Strauss does not hold the Enlightenment or the transition to modernity in high esteem. In fact as Ronald Beiner affirms, Strauss entire project is a never ceasing polemic against the Enlightenment, which he blames for the breaking the aforementioned distinction between the masses and philosophers. For example, the likes of Hobbes, Spinoza, and Locke may have written in an esoteric manner, but at the same time they foolishly pursued the idea that this divide could and should be bridged. As Beiner continues, the cornerstone of Enlightenment thought was the idea that philosophy could benefit society by helping people to be more educated and tolerant , and thus serve as a valuable tool in advancing humanity as a whole. ... They receive a $750 one time set up fee from all new merchants added into the TechMall system and a $50 statement fee, or maintenance fee, per month from all members. In addition, they receive a fee on each sales transaction, which is variable based on the dollar volume of the merchant s transactions. TechMall s standard pricingschedule indicates this revenue stream to be in the form of a 2% commission on all items sold by member merchants with a maximum commission receivable of $200. 2. Because of this condition, and since we were not provided with specific amounts for each transaction conducted, we have to simply assume that customers would not spend in excess of $10,000 on an online tech store such as TechMall.com. This assumption is strengthened when we calculate that the year 4 average transaction amount is just $58.53, which was calculated by dividing the total transaction dollars, $87,470,566 by total number of transactions, 1,494,547 ($87,470,566 / 1,494,547 = $58.526). • 19. Walden by Henry David Thoreau In perhaps his greatest reflection, Walden, Thoreau states be it life or death, we crave only reality. The excerpt from pages 49 to 50 focuses on the quest for this elusive truth. Serving both as a call to action as well as an instructional guide, this passage takes readers through a cleansing of all the superfluities of life. He laments how life has corrupted the natural state of purity he was born with, but with intellect as his primary tool, he has tried to truly find himself. In this passage, Thoreau instructs his readers to discover their reality, and from this point, build a foundation to begin their own journey of self discovery. Although it can be considered a descriptive piece, this passage aims at persuasion if not outright conversion. To remove the conventional distance between author and audience, and to connect with his reader, Thoreau uses the first person. Repeating Let us instead of you must, he establishes a conversation instead of a lecture (49). In addition, Thoreau relies on pathos to achieve his rhetorical aims and get people to cleanse their life. Phrases like sweet edge dividing your heat, rattle in our throats and feel cold in the extremities attack the readers senses, and sweeping ideas such as future ages, life, death, and eternity lend the passage emotional appeal (49, 50). Thoreau also creates a stipulative definition of reality, giving a generally clinical word a more emotional meaning (49). Rhetorical questions such as Why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. How Do Advertisers Make Advertisements How do advertisers make ads to persuade you? Advertisements implement different strategies in order to persuade the viewers using ethos, pathos, and logos. Ethos is appealing to the viewers character. Pathos is the way something provokes an emotion. Logos is using numbers and reasoning to persuade an audience. In the anti smokingcampaign ads, the creators test the effectiveness of the ads by appealing to the audience using pathos in two different types of ways. The first ad contains an image of a young adult male smoking a cigarette. The cigarette smoke creates an image of a gun aimed at his head. In the bottom right corner there is a note that says, Kill a cigarette and save a life. Yours. The entire ad is in black and white to create a depressing mood. This ad uses pathos to persuade the audience by provoking the emotion of depression and death of an adolescent. This ad targets a younger audience member along with parents. From a younger person s point of view it looks like the boy is basically committing suicide. From a parent s point of view, it makes them want to stop young people from smoking because it shows it can kill them, so it would be there way of protection. The second ad contains an image of a man that is appealing to the eye. This man is being choked by a cigarette that is acting like a hand. Globalized Islam By Olivier Roy In Olivier Roy s book, Globalized Islam, he writes about propaganda targets individuals, not groups as the strategy used Islamists, when elaborating a political program, targets groups, and more precisely social groups (impoverished neo urbanites, students from the lower and middle classes, and so on). Roy continues on to share their reasoning for the method of targeting individuals, not groups [author s italicization]. This remains congruent with their strategy of going to the polls; an electorate is always a collective and anonymous entity. Roy goes on to state why the new preachers use another method. But the new preachers target individuals, for the simple reason that they do not have a global political and social project, except implementation of sharia. In contrast he goes on to explain how the Taliban s agenda differs. Even the Taliban, who were ruling a real country, never cared about implementing any economic or social program, but were exclusively concerned with sharia. Consequently, individual Muslims that relocate from their own culture to migrate to the western world still remain well rooted in their religion despite the fact that no special accommodations are made for their religion. No allowances are made for Muslims to abide naturally and easily by the tenets of their religion. Hence the implementation of binding religious obligations rests on the good goodwill of the believer, not on any external cultural pressure or a state s legal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is no end in sight for the relentless competition of expanding 4G technologies as coverage and network speeds continue to increase. Currently, 4G technology is offered by all major telecommunication carriers in the United States: Verizon, AT T, T Mobile, and Sprint. However, the term 4G has been loosely used. • 36. Inequality In Society In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron Inequalities in the United States have existed for as long as we can remember. Everyone has their own set of thoughts, values, and beliefs. This significant difference in all humans is what has caused unequal treatment among people in the country. A substantial fraction of the U.S. still discriminates against people who do not look, think, or speak like them. The second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence states that all men are created equal . However, some people still do not understand that everyone is, in fact, entitled to their own rights and happiness. Everybody should also be allowed and encouraged to reach their highest levels of success. However, modern day society is trying to create a new generation that celebrates uniformity and mediocrity. With a lack of societal diversity, people do not have to worry about feeling insignificant or less than others who might seem superior. Some might feel that this should be the future of America, where everyone is equal in every aspect. I am part of a group of people who believe that this kind of equal oppression would shatter everyone s original imagination, creativity, intelligence, and overall individuality. The topic of equality has been presented through various works throughout history. The potential correlation between increased symptoms of mental health issues and banned book reading existed within a small subset of the subjects and cannot be proven to be substantial. Overall, banned books seem to have little to no negative effect on the majority of children and foster increased civic behaviors (Ferguson). While the motivation behind banning books seems logical and justified, in reality, books have no substantial negative effects on most children. In all actuality, banned books foster increased positive, civic behaviors, likely because they teach children tolerance by exposing them to diverse characters and humanizes groups whose lifestyle choices they may be unfamiliar and innately uncomfortable with. The Perks of Being a Wallflower exposes students to multiple incarnations of homosexual characters Patrick, a strong and proud gay teen who is loved by friends and family regardless of his sexual preference, as well as Brad Patrick s partner who is uncomfortable with his sexual preference, does not come out to friends or family, and is ashamed when his father discovers that he is a homosexual. Literature like this has the potential to provide LGBTQ teens with stories and characters that they can possibly identify with and see themselves reflected in (Thomas, Crisp, and ... • 57. Antagonism Between Ja And Cytokinin Antagonism between JA and cytokinin is of common occurrence in various plant growth and developmental processes. Cytokinin, benzyladenine (BA) has been reported to antagonize the effect of JA on root growth promotion in Solanum tuberosum (Sarkar et al., 2006). In cotyledons of sunflower (Helianthus annuus), MeJA promoted senescence, whereas pretreatment with cytokinin partially blocked MeJA induced senescence (Mukherjee et al., 2002). Liu et al. (2015) concluded that exogenous applications of JA and cytokinin antagonistically regulated leaf senescence in O. sativa senescence associated genes expression. They also proposed that leaf senescence not only depends on the level of JA or cytokinin but also on the balance between JA and cytokinin (Liu et al., 2015). Earlier, Ananieva and Ananiev (2003) argued that MeJA promoted some aspects of senescence in intact Cucurbita pepo cotyledons partially due to down regulation of endogenous levels of cytokinine levels and interconversion between active and inactive forms of cytokines (Ananieva and Ananiev, 2003). Apart from the above reports, antagonistic effect of cytokinins on the stimulatory effect of JAs has also been observed in potato tuber formation under in vitro conditions (Sarkar et al., 2006). A synergistic effect of JA and cytokinin has also been reported in T. aestivum to alleviate effects of salinity stress. 5.4. Even at the Little League level, the third base position requires quick reflexes and a strong throwing arm. There are several aspects of the position that are important to stress and ingrain in your young player from the first time they field the position in practice. Positioning 2 Proper Ready Stance 3 A hard hit ball will reach the third baseman much quicker than any other position on the diamond so being ready to field the position is a key to success. A third baseman s ready stance should be balanced, perched on the balls of his feet with his glove open and as close to the ground as possible. Your player needs to learn to keep his head up, lean his back forward with our arching it or shifting his balance to the from, and have his throwing hand next to his glove ready to trap any ground ball that he looks into his glove. If you watch baseball played at a high level, you will see that the third baseman will take two or three steps onto the infield grass to anticipate the bunt, and then another step or two forward as the pitch approaches the plate. We advise that you to avoid this technique and play your young infielder even with the third base bag in a bunt situation. Bunt situations are often less defined in Little League games. While some coaches try to emulate the major league game, there will be many times will a player will swing away or show bunt to draw the infielders in before swinging at a pitch. If a third baseman is moving forward with the pitch in anticipation of a bunt, he may be put in harm s way should a batter be swinging away. It is generally a good idea to err on the side of caution when it comes to the safety of young players learning the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
