Amritsar is the spiritual capital of the Sikhs
Amritsar is the spiritual capital of the Sikhs, home to Sikhism s holiest shrine, gaining its name that
means Holy Pool of Nectar , from the surrounding body of water around the Golden Temple.
Moving away from the famous Golden Temple, you can witness the mos humbling sights,
hyperactive streets, traffic noise, air pollution and congestion.
The city is divided in two by couple of railway lines. The old city contains the Temple and various
other fascinating historic sites bound by 12 gates. Touring this part is quite captivating. To the
north, a modern Amritsar has grown spreading a colonial grid. Explore gleaming malls, plush

Physical Fitness And Educational Programs
The film Fit explores the evolution of fitness in the daily lives of American men and women. From
being defined as a vision of the body and its possibilities to a literal culture of physical strength and
appeal, how we understand fitness has been shaped throughout many generations. In the late
nineteenth century, the belief that participating in daily or at least frequent physical exercisewas
good for the body was starting to become more popular. People were developing their own
programs of calisthenics, and starting to train their bodies. With the emergence of physical fitness
and educational programs, the concept of physical fitness blew up and became much more
widespread. Certain figures in the movement put forth beliefs that the ideal body emulated
Renaissance ideals, and were strong, perfect, and symmetrical. Men began working to become
stronger, while women developed aesthetic dances to keep their bodies fit. It was commonly
believed that women lost energy faster than men, and that vigorous activities would limit their
abilities to reproduce; so, activities that demonstrated extreme physical endurance were almost
completely limited to men. As the twentieth century approached, fitness crusades swept across the
country. The body became inspected, approved, and admired for its physical capabilities. With the
obsession of beauty in muscular aspects came the obsession with genetic perfection through the
mating of superior people, or eugenics. Men and women were

Selecting The Female Reproductive System Essay
Selecting the female reproductive system to present was slightly awkward with me being a
male. In addition to having to have a presentation in a public forum having to provide visual aids
of the female reproductive system to my fellow classmates. I didn t look forward to that at all.
With that being said, I moved forward with my research on the pathologies of the female
reproductive system. I did not take long at all to recognize some familiar terminology related to
the pathological anomalies of the female reproductive system that I was familiar with.
Pathological terminology such as Fibroids (tissue overgrowth) and Endometriosis (pain in the
uterine lining). I had a few people close to me who have suffered from complications of those
pathological disorders which led to the loss of pregnancy. At different moments in our life at one
time or another will have someone close to us experiencing some issues of the female reproductive
system. Having the knowledge of the causes, symptoms, complications and treatments will enable
us to not only understand what they are going through but with that knowledge we can comfort
them as well. Having a working knowledge of the female reproductive system is beneficial in
many areas. In addition to helping those close to us, as a radiology technologist we can better assist
or patients.
The female reproductive system consists of ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, vagina and
breast. The breast is not a primary organ in the female

Overfishing Is A Problem For A Long Time
Over fishing has been a worldwide problem for a long time. Overfishing is not only a problem
for Bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus) but with many other marine animals. The economic effect
overfishing has on the cost of fishing and how it affects people is important. Overfishing has a
huge economic effect on fishermen and the cost of fishing. Even though many people believe
that overfishing is not that big of a problem, it seems to be an ongoing problem in the world.
Overfishing is a major problem today and seems to be going unnoticed. People need to be aware of
the negative economic effects in order to change their ways.

Illegal fishing and unsustainable harvesting still plague the industry ( Overfishing ). A public
grown accustomed to abundant seafood and largely apathetic about the plight of the ocean
complicates efforts to repair the damage we ve done ( Overfishing ). Overfishing is and has been
a very important business to those who rely on it. For this to still happen all over the world shows
how little people really care about this horrible act.
The Bluefin tuna, which has been endangered for several years and has the misfortune to be
prized by the Japanese sushi lovers, has suffered a catastrophic decline in stocks in the Northern
Pacific Ocean, of more than 96% ( Overfishing causes Pacific Bluefin tuna numbers to drop 96%
, 2013). For a long time, Bluefin tuna have been a worldwide problem. It seems that nobody really
wants to stop it, it seems that people put little effort into a major problem. One Bluefin tuna sold in
Japan for more than ВЈ1m, reflecting the rarity of the Bluefin tuna and the continued demand for
its fatty flesh ( Overfishing causes Pacific Bluefin tuna numbers to drop 96% , 2013). An
interesting fact from this newspaper was that more than nine out of 10 of the species recently
caught were too young to have reproduced, meaning they may have been the last generation of the
Bluefin tuna ( Overfishing causes Pacific Bluefin tuna numbers to drop 96% , 2013). Amanda

`` Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History ``
Multiple Meanings Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, in a scholarly article written in 1976, wrote that well
behaved women seldom make history (Ulrich XIII). Over time, that phrase has became a slogan
for feminists around the world. It appears on many products and media, like shirts, jewelry, and
even wine glasses. At the time she wrote it, she meant for it to mean that women who are well
behaved do not get their stories told, even if they did something extraordinary or heroic, though
now, people interpret it in many different ways. Fig. 1. Well behaved women seldom make history

make history being sold on Amazon is, by far, shirts. There is a variety... Show more content on

This interpretation, compared to how Ulrich meant for the quote to be interpreted is quite
different. Ulrich wanted the quote to represent how women who do not do something bad,
rarely get their stories told, no matter how heroic their actions were, while the creators of this
shirt want women to speak out, to make change, and to create equality for everyone, which, by
some people, is seen as wrong for women to do. Although what the designers of this product
seem to be aiming for is different than what Ulrich originally meant for her quote, I am sure that
Ulrich still would support that message. Fig. 2. Well behaved women seldom make history
necklace (Amazon) Another product that stood out was a necklace. It is a bronze colored chain
with a round, white pendant, that is maybe an inch in diameter. The pendant has the quote well
behaved women seldom make history on it, with Laurel Thatcher Ulrich credited beneath it.
Similarly to the shirt, women and history are in a bigger font (see Fig. 2). It is being sold by a
seller called DSD, whose main products seem to be similar jewelry, many of which are small,
literature related products, with quotes from various books on them. This product, out of the three
analyzed here, is probably the closest to how Ulrich meant for her quote to be interpreted. It is a
small pendant that people are not going to be able to read

Despite this, Chick fil A has posted positive increases in revenue all 40 years the company has
been in business, many of which have been double digit increases. These increases may seem
extraordinary, but Chick fil A has used a strategy that ensures their success. Another factor
which has the ability to have a major impact on profitability is the increasing price of chicken.
With the increasing popularity of ethanol based fuels made primarily of corn it is becoming
more costly to feed and raise chickens, whose main source of food is corn. This new demand for
corn has increased the price, which is in turn passed onto the next buyer. It is necessary for Chick
fil A to address this issue and formulate a plan of action to try to combat these rising costs.
Technology Chick fil A does not have any distinct or visible technological advantages that can
distinguish the company from its competitors. The company does, however, have processes in
place which gives Chick fil A an advantage in both profitability and customer service. First, Chick
fil A s smaller menu offering, compared to its competitors, contributes to the company s large profit
margins. Secondly, Chick fil A has stringent guidelines and goals concerning service time for
customers; customers should wait no more than one minute for service. The combination of these

interns to learn about the organization, as well as psychology as a whole. While there are many
events took placed during the internship, the author highlighted the ones that she felt deeply
connected too, and related to different aspect of psychology.

Cynthia Belar, the current interim chief executive officer. Dr. Belar revealed her story of how
she became a part of the APA, after working in several different setting related to clinical
psychology and mental health problems. While her career was truly a spectacular one, she gave
the intern a valuable advice. She stated that even when she was young, she was not completely
certain about which path to take, or what she would do in the future. Nevertheless, she found
herself along the way and was able to contribute to the best of her ability to psychology. Thus,
she believes that is it perfectly acceptable for students to be confused and uncertain of their
futures; through their experience, they will figure out their strength and weaknesses, as well as
their choice of career. Indeed, sometime college or even graduate students can be nervous and
afraid when they experience uncertainty towards their future. Life should be viewed as a journey,
where one will learn about themselves and others, to decide what they want to do, or who they
want to be. It is extremely accurate for those who study psychology, as it is a major that enable
people to study about human as a whole. On the other hand, Dr. Belar encourage the students to
propose ideas and observations about psychology and the APA. A notable suggestion revolved
around how psychology can be more accessible to the population. The author pointed out the fact
that psychology can be apply to any issues and problem presented that is related to human, and
integrated to other disciplines. Most people, and sometime even psychology major student, usually
do not realize that other than the traditional practice, psychology can be incorporate into fields such
as computer science, business, sport, etc. Additionally, any grave issues can be analyzed through a

Essay on Mississippi s Freedom Summer
Rationale
Although I wasn t in Mississippi during the Freedom Summer , I had a solid understanding of
how life was during the Freedom Summer . This was years of racism and segregation towards
the blacks in the US during the Civil Rights Movement. My aspect type was racism, and I
learned of its impact on life through our analysis in the class of The Color Purple (1982) by Alice
Walker, an epistolary novel about the lives of black people in rural dominated white racist Georgia
during the 1920 s 50 s. Furthermore, we discussed Nelson Mandela s Inaugural Speech in class, and

Our student committee is dedicated to achieving their goals using non violence. Even though, we
face serious violence, from the police and others in Mississippi my passion for the cause drove me
to join. What happened in the 1962 elections should never be repeated. Imagine, only 6.7% of
eligible black voters registered, the lowest in the whole country!
In orientation, we were taught (with a guest appearance of Robert Parris Moses, the director of the
project!) of opening Freedom Houses, Freedom Schools and community centers throughout
Mississippi. Here, African Americans realize their history and constitutional rights. Nevertheless
the most valuable thing we teach is black voting rights. Believe me, being dedicated to nonviolence
in the midst of violence is a passionate commitment.
Our goal is to help out in the freedom school in Mount Zion Methodist Church in Longdale. With

Wheattone Bridge Essay
Introduction In the 19th century, Samuel Hunter Christie invented the diamond method for circuits,
the initial idea to the Wheatstone bridge. However, bridge circuits, circuits with parallel resistors,
bridged by a branch between them, were used to measure small voltages; but, the Wheatstone
bridge is used to measure an unknown resistance using all the others three known resistance in the
circuit. During the lab, the Wheatstone Bridgeconcept for a bridge circuit was used to determine the
unknown resistorin the circuit, see in figure 1. The objective was to measure the voltages between
points on the branch between the first two resistors in series on top and bottom ones, in which were
connected in parallel. Thereafter, test the voltage calculated at different temperatures, those being
room temperature, ice water and hot water; by using a thermistor in the circuit, that helps calibrate
the Wheatstone bridge as a thermometer.
Methods
Firstly, the protoboard was powered with 1 volts coming from the power supply. The circuit was
assembled by connecting two resistors in series on top and one resistor and the thermistor in series
on the bottom connected to the top branch in parallel. The left end of the circuit was powered by 1
v from the power supply and the rightmost end was grounded. The thermistor was placed on the
bottom branch of the circuit by two wires that connected to the protoboard and to the thermistor in
which were long enough to allow the thermistor to be

Sex Versus Gender Essay
Sex Versus Gender
*No Works Cited A person is born either male or female, however according to Mead the roles of
males and females are conditioned by that person s given culture. There were two articles studied
by Group D, the first one tries to prove that men or women can be the aggressive sex, while the
second article deals on which sex talks more and why. What it comes down too is, that both articles
try to distinguish which sex is more dominant and why. Margaret Mead article, Sex and
Temperament in Three Primitive Societies, describes research done to see if cultures contribute to
the shaping of a person. The research done involves three primitive groups, the Arapesh, the

For example, women strapped to ducking stools, held underwater, gagged, and silenced by cleft

meetings, in mixed groups, and in classrooms. To further back up this discovery, researchers
found out that when men talked the range lasted from 10.66 to 17.07 seconds, while when
women talked it lasted from 3 to 10 seconds. Report talk and Rapport talk are two different
techniques men and women use when they communicate with each other. Report talk deals
more with men and public speaking, while rapport talk deals with women and private speaking.
Report talk is used by men because they feel more comfortable talking in public than women do.
When men talk they joke around, tell stories, this is a way for them to get attention. That s why
men are more comfortable speaking in larger groups made up of people they know less. Rapport
talk is when women talk to each other on a more personal level. Women talk mostly to other
women , to gossip, to see how their day went, and just to get to know each other. Women feel the
closest when they feel at home or when their with people they feel close and comfortable with.
The reason why women find it so difficult to talk in public is, this is the way they were
conditioned. Women are looked at as being to talkative, why because when they do

Alfred Hitchcock The Birds Essay
The greatest art in films is by the means of the ability to create an emotion in the viewers of the
film and by the means of and imagery. Alfred Hitchcock, for a long time, has been a household
name since he began filmmaking. Hitchcock has been able to accumulate a well known and
distinct cinematic techniques making him stand out as one of the best filmmakers around the
globe. What makes Hitchcock s films must watch movies are how he draws his viewers emotion
and leave them in suspense (Maher 246). Hitchcock s The Birds is an American horror filmdropped
in 1963. The film is loosely rooted in the 1952 story of Daphne Du Maurier and focuses on a
sudden series, unexplained powerful and violent birds attacking the people of Bodega Bay... Show

Among the visual techniques employed in these films is the lighting. Even though it is a pathetic
fallacy, the lighting atmosphere is very bright and colorful in the film. The Birds is set in many
scenes to reflect the characters behaviors in the scenes (Maher 248). Again, towards the end of
the bright lighting, a dark color is presented to create an eerie atmosphere. For instance, an
excellent use of lighting is offered in the dead farmer s scene. Here, lighting symbolizes the mood
in the scene. It starts with Lydia trekking down in a very bright sunlight, the light dims as she
approaches the door. Inside the house, there is a window with natural light although no false in the
house. Even so, the absence of light suggests a bad situation, which the audience is left to figure
out. The director uses this to create unease with the observer.
The use of lighting in today s cinematography has great impacts on the intended audience. The main
characters in modern movies are usually directed in key lights. Generally, the lights on these key
objects are brighter than the fill light and the backlight. Light is targeted to give clarity of the
image, to quest for better realism and to create an atmosphere of emotions (Cohen 127). Lightings,
in particular, are fundamental tools in manipulating the audiences response to narrative events and
characters.
The use of camera narration is another Hitchcockian technique that heightens the level of suspense
in both The Birds and Identity

Fake Names
Why would anyone want to create a fake name or an identity just to publish a book they wrote?
Fake names or identities could be very useful to authors to allow them to have more
opportunities, freedom, and more flexibility. Several people made fake names and identities so
they would not embarrass themselves, family, or others. Regardless, there are actually several
different reasons why many different individuals use pen names. For example, it could be the
only way an author can get published, a woman author might want her name to be more
appealing to male readers and not just girls, and an author might make more books so they just
have to make another name for themselves. First off, let s say that an author was not allowed to
publish a book because of who they are, that person would most likely make up a fake identity to
use to hopefully get their book, article, or thoughts published. For instance, Benjamin Franklin was

used her full last name so that male readers would actually be interested in her books and buy

An Analysis Of Susanna Wheatley s Poetry
Both female poets choose to use the first person, implying that the I connotates a personal
sentiment for the author and reader. In Wheatley s case, it is made clear to the reader through a
footnote that the poem is in fact about her as it states, [it] commemorates Wheatley s transatlantic
voyage to London (Wheatley 1020). In this poem, the reader is given a direct image of departure.
Wheatley travels from Boston to London in order to publish her poems as well as maintain her
health. Moreover, to further point out Wheatley is the intended I , the poem is dedicated to her
mistress Susanna Wheatley who is mentioned in the poem. Her poem uses the first person to not

X ray probe production by a synchrotron light source.
To optimize the properties of nano material and atomic level needs an elemental probe with
resolution of 1nm. The nano scale probe helpful to provide the reproducible control over defects.
The production of x rays by relativistic electrons in accelerators is about 60 years old. The
accelerator facilities used as synchrotron radiation sources have advanced significantly over the
years, growing in utility to become a premier research tool for the study of materials. The evolution
of these facilities is typically described as a sequence of generations of synchrotron radiation
sources.
Fourth generation sources are currently being designed and demonstrated. Two approaches have

The Hard X ray Nano probe Beam line is a precision platform for scanning probe and full п¬Ѓeld
microscopy with 3 30 keV X rays. The combination of high stability X ray optics and precision
motion sensing and control enables detailed studies of the internal features of samples with a
resolution approaching 30 nm. The Hard X ray Nano probe is a combination scanning probe and
full field imaging microscope for fluorescence mapping, nano diffraction and transmission
imaging. Future improvements in X ray optics fabrication and precision sensing and motion control
will be incorporated into the beam line to enable imaging at a resolution approaching 10 nm [1].
X Ray Fluorescence Microscopy (XFM):
The basic principle behind the X ray Fluorescence microscopy (XFM) is the exposure of X ray
beam on the sample. The technique is employed to establish the elemental concentrations for wide
range of samples in multiple locations of cells and tissue samples. It has excellent sensitivity for the
detection of trace elements. This technique is enabling to image the whole cell along with the
quantification of elements on the per cell basis. This is because of the large penetration depth of
the hard X rays used. Cryogenic approach is used to investigate the samples in their natural or
hydrated state. Due to the third generation synchrotron drastic development was

Endangered Elephant Essay
Asian elephants are an endangered animal. Their population is decreasing very quickly. In 2000,
there were more than 100,000 elephants left, but now, in 2017, there are only 35,000 to 40,000 left.
Some of the problems Asian elephants face is habitat loss, ivory poaching and the kidnapping of
young elephants. Luckily, there are many ways you can help to stop them from going extinct,
including donating to places like the Pinnawala ElephantOrphanage, encouraging selective logging,
shutting down ivorymarkets, donating and shunning places that advertise the chance to see a baby
elephant.
The main problem causing Asian elephants to be endangered is habitat loss. People have been
cutting down the tropical forests where the elephants used to live and are building houses in the
valleys and plains. In fact, about 20% of all humans live close to the current habitat of the Asian
elephant. The elephants move to the hills and the remains of the forests, but even then they are
still at risk. Because the elephants are forced into smaller areas, inbreeding may occur. The
elephants are unable to mix with other herds, which causes their genetic material to be too closely
related to that of other elephants in their herd. The migrations of the elephants have also been
disrupted by habitat loss. Dams, coffee and tea plantations, railway lines, and roads break up the
routes the elephants once used on their seasonal migration. Selective logging is one solution to
habitat loss. Selective logging

HELLP Syndrome Analysis
Here in the United States, there are medical facilities who because of their religious affiliations
are not able to function to the highest level of care. It is because of these facilities, mainly
hospitals, and their adherence the religious doctrines that are set forth by either churches or other
religious orders, that people may find that they can be denied certain procedures forcing people to
face unneeded consequences. The group of people that can specifically fine themselves denied are
women, with reproductive health being the main concern of subpar care. Therefore, it is the
responsibility that even though a hospital may have a religious affiliation it should provide
equivalent medical care. So they fulfill their intended purpose as a hospital, equipping their doctors

As woman age, they will find that pregnancy can be extra hard on the body, causing health issues
such as high blood pressure, with some woman developing preeclampsia. Preeclampsia, a pregnancy
induced hypertension disorder which affects both mother and fetus poses the real possibility of
impacting renal function along with the development of HELLP syndrome. When a woman
develops this HELLP syndrome they are a risk of hemolysis; the breakdown of red blood cells,
elevated liver enzymes, and low plate count putting her a greater risk of complications that cause
death (Preeclampsia Foundation, pg1). The only known way to cure this disorder is to deliver the
baby and placenta, even if the baby is premature because not only can this kill the mother, but it has
repercussions for the fetus as well. When it comes to the fetus, preeclampsia causes an inadequate
nutrition supply because of the insufficiency of the placenta to regulate how the fetus gets its
nutrients, which can lead to growth retardation and further heath compilations later in life (Lapidus

Paul Mccartney s Impact On Pop Music
Paul McCartney was born June 18, 1942, in Liverpool, England. His contribution in the Beatles in
the 1960s helped pop music ascend from its origins in the entertainment business and morphed it
into a highly respected creative commercial art form. He also remains as one of the most
prominent solo performers of all time in terms of both recordings at his concerts and sales of his
attendants.
Sir James Paul McCartney was born on June 18, 1942, in Liverpool, England, to James and Mary
McCartney. His father was a cotton salesman, who would often play the piano with a local jazz
band his mother was a maternity nurse. As a labor man s child he grew up in a traditional working
class family, similar to later bandmates of the Beatles George Harrison and Richard Starkey (Ringo
Starr). An early tragedy happened when Paul was just fourteen years old, his mother died. Her
death was linked to complications after a mastectomy. McCartney s later band member, John
Lennon, also suffered the loss of his mother at an early age a connection that Paul would later point
to as the start of a close bond between the two musicians.
He was inspired by his father to explore different musical instruments, Paul initiated his lifelong
love affair with music as a young kid growing up in Liverpool. Although he took proper music
lessons as a kid, he found it easier to learn by ear, teaching himself the Spanish guitar, piano and
trumpet. The teenaged musician met John Lennon in 1957 at a church festival where

The Human Resource Development Partner And Training Manager
As the human resource development partner and training manager, I was contacted by JetBlue to
develop a detailed lesson plan for their newest addition to their family. JetBlue recently hired thirty
new reservation agents to help with their growing business. A lesson plan is a detailed plan of
action to guide the trainer throughout the process that intends to take the trainee from step A to Z.
This plan must be developed in advanced so that the trainer is prepared for the information that
must be taught including: the content to be taught; how much time is required for each lesson;
what method will be used to teach the information; what type of training materials are needed; the
location of the training; and how the training will be evaluated (Werner DeSimone, 2012). Before
the lesson plan can be developed, information is needed related to the organizational history of
JetBlue along with the job responsibilities for the reservation agents. JetBlue Airlines, the fifth
largest in the United States, houses their main headquarters in Long Island, NY with corporate
offices residing in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. JetBlue was founded by David Neeleman in 1998,
and currently uses Sabrereservation systems to book flights to ninety seven destinations in the US,

A DETERMINED YOUNG MONTREALER struggles to establish himself in the business

real estate on which to build a resort community. The young man concocts a number of inventive
schemes for making money, experiences financial ups and downs, and undergoes a crisis in his
relationship with his wife or girlfriend. Lurking behind his struggle is the figure of a sinister older
man who occupies a position of power in the business world to which the young man is a

In the end, the young man attains his goal at the cost of losing someone close to him. He emerges
from his adventures an older, more focused man; his years of initiation have ended. This brief
summary could be applied with equal justice to either Mordecai Richler s The Apprenticeship of
Duddy Kravitz (1959) or Yves Beauchemin s Le matou (1981). Both novels chart a young man s
progress through society. Both are the work of resolutely urban and male novelists, and both have
enjoyed substantial critical and commercial success. Furthermore, although the novels respective
publication dates are separated by twenty two years, they appeared, arguably, at analogous historical
moments in the lives of the communities that gave them birth. Richler s novel, although set in the
late 1940s, projects (and questions) the ethos of the upwardly mobile second and third generation
Montreal Jews who grew up in poverty on St. Urbain Street, and broke out of the ghetto and into the
business and professional class, eventually establishing themselves in the upper middle class

Importance Of Purpose To Study Medieval Literature
My intention in applying to the English PhD program at UNCG is to study Medieval Literature,
specifically feminism and gender stereotypes as they are presented in medieval texts. This has
been my passion for many years and my studies have shaped my personal beliefs and world
views. My desire to study medieval literature started in high school while reading the works of
Chaucer in my senior English class. This is where my love of literature began, on that pilgrimage,
reading their stories. My love of Chaucer was furthered when I took a course on his works, taught
by Dr. Amy Vines. I was already interested in Chaucer but Dr. Vines love of medieval texts was
easily transferred to her students through her lectures. Listening to her recite texts in Old English
made me even more curious about the language and the texts.
Also in undergraduate, while learning about the different methods of critiquing literature I found
that the feminist critique was one that I enjoyed the most. It was interesting to me to find deeper
meaning in the texts we were studying. In graduate school I found it enjoyable to debate with my
classmates about the meaning behind actions taken by the characters, especially when they would
see sexism when I would see feminism for example we often disagreed while reading Woman at
Point Zero by Nawal El Saadawi. In the novel, the protagonist Firdaus chooses to be a prostitute.
She doesn t want to belong to any man/pimp and when one tries to own her, she kills him.

1881 Russian Pogroms
The Russian Pogroms of 1881 were a series of devastating events in Eastern European Jewish
history. The 1881 pogroms immediately followed the assassination of Czar Alexander II. Due to
industrialization, the Russian government plunged into turmoil, and the masses were living
impoverished and discontented lives. The assassins were a radical group called Narodnaya Volya,
consisting entirely of Atheists, only one who was born Jewish. Anti Semitic groups claimed the Jews
were the ones who killed Czar Alexander II. Riots ensued: Jewish homes and businesses were
destroyed, and people were killed and injured. Historians debate whether the 1881 pogroms were
really just a spontaneous reaction to the assassination of Czar Alexander II, or whether they... Show

Although the newspapers were an important ingredient in preparing for the pogroms and adding to
the anti Semitic feeling of the times, they do not support any master plan nor government
approval. Multiple articles in the Novorossisski Telegraf never call for physical violence against
the Jews. They specifically say to fight the Jewish exploitation with money, not with violence.
Rumors were a way of life in Russia and not part of a master plan by the government. In fact,
Kutaisov writes when investigating the pogroms, because of the government s faulty
communication with the people, rumors would circulate... (93 94). Aronson supports the
spontaneity of the pogroms by showing how the pogroms mostly occurred on a religious holiday
or a Sunday when there was a lot of drinking and when religious feelings were high. It s much
easier for violence to break out at these times. Also, the pogroms never occurred on any rumored
dates. Aaronson further states that there was not a specific pattern to all the pogroms. There was
not as much uniformity as previously believed. The time frame and the amount of damage differed
from pogrom to pogrom. Although many of the pogroms were the predictable three days, the three
days were only because most of the time the pogrom broke out in the afternoon, the military then
arrived by the next day and only was able to stop the pogrom the following day. Aaronson agrees
that the government s inaction perpetuated the pogroms but their inaction was not because they
organized the pogroms. The government was ill equipped and couldn t handle the large urban
centered pogroms. They had only previously dealt with small peasant rural uprisings. In

Change In Health Care Policy
Impact of changes from change in health care policy
Discussion 3 In chapter three of the Estes Healthcare policy, she explores the healthcare reforms
now and in the future. Her analysis borrows from other studies that had been done to explore the
implications of the healthcare reforms to all the stakeholders. The article explores the implications
of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Medicaid and Children`s Health Insurance
Program Provisions, and Community Living Assistance, Services and Support Act. The changes
would have significant changes in the healthcare delivery systems. One of the implications of the
changes would be decreased quality of healthcare. The program aimed to increase the number of
the insured people and the number of the people accessing basic healthcare in the US. The
inclusion of the economically challenged in the care program stimulated the need for reduced
contribution to the model. The decreased contribution to the program translated to decreased
payments of the services offered in the clinics by the insurer. To operate effectively with the
reduced payments, the clinics adopted designs of healthcare delivery or advanced practices that are
aligned to the amount paid by the insurer that significantly reduced the quality of the healthcare
delivery (Estes et al., 2013). The program recognized the shortage of ... Show more content on

The Iraq And Iran War
The Iraq and Iran war in 1980 through 1988 started on September 22, 1980, which resulted in an
8 year war, 500,000 casualties, $600 billion debt accumulated, and many more factors. The Iraq
and Iran war strained Iraq s political, and social life. Also put Iraq s economy into severe
conditions. The 1980, 8 year war between Iraqand Iranwas fueled by many factors including border
disputes (geographical and economical), and Iraq s new dictator Saddam Hussein (political).
Saddam Hussein feared that the new Iranian leadership would threaten Iraq s Sunni Shia, and the
minimal access to the Persian Gulf. The war was multifaceted and had many religious schisms,
political differences, border disputes, ethnic disputes and a very personal fight between Saddam
Hussein and Ayatollah Khomeini. Iraq launched the war in effort to strengthen the rising power in
Iraq, and to replace Iran as the dominant Persian Gulf State. The most important factor to this war
was the fight over the Shatt al Arab waterway. The fight over the waterway goes all the way back
into the 7th century. Having said that, Iraq s leader, Saddam Hussein had large aspirations which
included expanding his country, and become the leading nation in the Middle East. Becoming the
leading nation in the Middle East required accomplishing the attack on Iran, gaining more oil fields,

Bullet Proof Armor History
History
The first bullet proof armor was invented in 1897 by Korea and the Japan, it was made
of 30 layers of silk, which in that day could stop a black powder bullet it was nicknamed soft
armor. But then when firearms became more powerful it became useless. So a priest from
Chicago made it better by weaving 1.6mm steel plate between four layers of silk, he proved it
was bullet proof by having a man shoot at his chest from 10 paces (25 feet) away with a 44.
Caliber handgun, when it hit him he said he only felt a tap. So the inventor tried to make a life

(Caitlin, 2016)
The vest stops the force of the bullet from hitting you and going into you, it will disperse
the bullets energy across the entire Kevlar panel. If this didn t happen the bullet would hit you
and cause serious damage to the area you were shot in. So that is the reason they make the
entire vest in one piece, so it can take that force of energy from the bullet and make It spread
throughout the vest. (company, 2016)
How effective is it?
Kevlar is what soldiers use today, they can stop some handgun bullets. Such as a 9mm
which has a smaller amount of kinetic energy and a lower velocity, but with a higher caliber
handgun such as a .44 magnum, it has more weight to the bullet which means a larger amount
of kinetic energy and a higher velocity, so you would need up to 30 layers of Kevlar. (Allred,

How would I improve it?
The improvements I would make would be to make a material that was made of a

The Game Of The Computer Game Essay
The computer game I will be analyzing is a free to play, 2D, one of the most popular fantasy
massively multiplayer online role playing game called Maplestory. The platform is a 2D
scrolling layout game where the player executes and control action mainly through the keyboard
and mouse to click on such as NPC and other players. It is developed by Wizet, a South Korean
Company and has multiple publishers for each country such as Nexon as the big main company.
The game consists of the spectrum of both paidia and ludus concepts as players are free to
improvise their characters and objectives, however within the limits of the game. The elements I
will be focusing on are the goals; objectives of the game, societies and cultures formed through
social bonding and fellowship, economies shaped through in game currency and real cash, and
the history as they all shape the game plays differently in determining the goals of the game.
Maplestory begins with mostly training; combatting at monsters requiring you to invest a lot of
time grinding it out to level up as you have class or job advancements and learn new skills. One
of the means in which one can meet specific ends is reaching to the max level 250. This game is
challenging in the aspect of leveling up at higher levels, which keeps the player engaged and
active, also to take note is when you die in the game you lose experience setting you back having
to regain it again. The game consists of long, difficult quests, huge maps for

Summary Of Freeman Basson And Crighton
The purpose of the Freeman, Basson, and Crighton study published in the Lancet was to test the
effectiveness of real electroconvulsive therapy compared to simulated electroconvulsive therapy in
the treatment of a depressive illness using a randomized controlled trial.
A total of 40 patients from four acute units of the Royal Edinburgh Hospital took part in the trial.
All subjects were assessed to determine eligibility and then randomly allocated into two groups in
which the experimental group would be given real ECT and the control group would undergo
simulated ECT. The experimental group (group R) received ECT bilaterally twice a week from a
machine that delivered sine wave currents. The control group (group S) received simulated ECT

How Does Al Pacino Use Rhetorical Strategies In Any Given...
In sports, there are many motivational speeches told to a player or team to reach an ultimate goal.
In the movie Any Given Sunday, Al Pacino plays Tony D Amato, the head coach of the Miami
Sharks, a fictitious professional football team. Al Pacino faces much adversity throughout the
movie and by the end, he must bring his team together before the biggest battle of [their]
professional lives. In the locker room before their game, Al Pacino gives his team a speech that
gives them the motivation to fight and win. Al Pacino uses a continuous analogy as his most
successful rhetorical strategy. He compares football to life and talks about how both are a game of
inches. This extended metaphor helps the players see how important this game is and... Show more

Al Pacino motivates his team by saying in any fight it is the guy who is willing to die who is
going to win that inch and convinces the players to give everything they can in this game. He
also says, Now I can t do it for you and I can t make you do it to hopefully ignite an independent
feeling in the players to play their best and guide them to rely on their teammates instead of him.
Later he says, look at the guy next to you... I think you are going to see a guy who will go that
inch with you to bring his team together and build each player s confidence in one another. He
uses strong words like fight, tear, claw, and sacrifice to help the team prepare for their battle and
visualize what it is going to take to win. Pacino succeeds in inspiring and uniting his team with
his speech. Throughout the speech, the players cheer and exclaim in agreement and support,
but by the last sentence, the players are standing, jumping, and yelling because they are now
hyped up for the game. His speech also appeals to ethos because he admits to faults and makes
himself relatable. He begins by saying, I don t know what to say really and reveals that he does
not have an elaborate speech memorized and that he is going to speak from his heart. Later he
says, I m too old... I made every wrong decision a middle aged man could make to show that he is
only human and that if the players make a mistake, to not be discouraged because

students did something different to earn a Saturday detention under the watch of their
unenlightened principal. The group of students includes John, Claire, Allison, Andrew and Brian.

Examples Of Policy Issues Related To Maternal Health
Policy issues related to maternal and child Health
Introduction
Maternal and child mortality remains a major public health problem for Kenya. Despite the
Government s commitment to the international and regional health agenda, the country has lagged
behind in meeting most of the targets set in the international and regional declarations. Besides
communicable diseases, lifestyle related diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease and
cancers are increasing, hence posing a threat to the health care system in terms of diverting
resources from basic health care services to these diseases. The huge burden of disease is due
primarily to pervasive poverty, compounded by years of erratic application of policy, with the result
that most of the population lacks the enabling environment for health, such as good nutrition, clean
water, quality housing and conducive living environment. Weak public healths systems
characterized by inadequate financial and human resources, inefficient support systems, and poorly
coordinated responses to public health problems are responsible for the poor performance of the
health care system. The Government s budget allocation to health care, which is currently at 8%, is
far short of the 15% target agreed in the Abuja Declaration.2 For example, the number of nurses and
doctors per population is 33/100,000 and 17/100,000, respectively, which is below the standard
recommended by the World Health Organization(WHO). Kenya will, therefore, fail to

so they began to look for other things to do. People moved to these cities to find work and housing
because they lost their jobs on the farms. Urbanizationin cities during the Industrial Age had a

that adults could not. Children were put into horrible work conditions. Kids had to crawl on the

enough they could get really hurt or even die ( Factory Systems ). There were safety hazards
including excessive heat in the factories and injuries were very constant. Equipment and
machinery had dangerous parts exposed, contributing to the number of injuries. Many of the
children got hurt when they would get caught in the machines. The working hours were from

The Squat Oinochoe
The Squat Oinochoe was found in Corinth, Greece. It is believed that it was made around 590
570 BCE which places this piece of pottery in the Archaic Period of Greece. When it was
discovered in Corinth, it was obvious it was influenced greatly due to the cultural interactions
between the Aegean and the eastern Mediterranean regions during the eighth and seventh centuries
BCE. The vase has feral goats, panthers, creatures, and oriental styled floral motifs on the body
and shoulder of the vase. This style of vase is known as Oinochoe in Greek it is split up into two
words oinos meaning wine, and cheo meaning I pour2. These types of vessels are usually single

This vessel is going against the usual Oinochoe from the time, because it has a short shoulder and
body, while being wide at the same time with a broad almost none existent foot. The paintings on
the base and shoulder are broken up into registers which can trace back to Mesopotamian culture
and Egyptian society as well. Both registers on the shoulder and body depict two dimensional
figures along side with oriental flowers. In both registers, there is an animal depicted, which is a
panther. The panther is one of the forms that Dionysus the god of wine, agriculture, and fertility of
nature takes on.3 The panther on this Oinochoe leads us to believe it represents Dionysus
because he is the god of wine, and this particular vessel was used for wine. Another figure on the
vase is a winged figure, however that part of the vase has faded to the point where it cannot be
analyzed or examined. What can be seen however are lions, which at the time in ancient Greece
showed wealth and power and can often be found in many Greek myths. Lions during this time
are depicted roaring with their mouths open and their body flexing and tall, poised to show
power and authority. The registers may have the same animals and creatures on them; however
the register on the body of the vase has more of the animals. The final animal that is depicted is a
feral goat, the only way it can described and identified as feral, is because it is grazing where the

Rosalind Franklin Essay
Rosalind Franklin
As hard as is it is today for women to succeed in the sciences, one must give kudos to those that
came before us. These are the women that paved the way for today s generation of women
scientists. One such woman is Rosalind Elsie Franklin, a chemist who had a great impact on the
modern day field of genetics.
Rosalind was the second of five children. She was born on July 25, 1920 in London. The Franklin s
were an upper class family who lived a life of luxury. Rosalind never even had to go to school
she would have been provided for from her family s wealth. As a child, she never felt like she was
understood. She hated pretend games and did not play with dolls. Rosalind had to find the facts

Her Research at BCURA focused on how coal could be used most efficiently. Based on this
research, she earned a Ph.D. from Cambridge in 1945 (McGrayne, 1993). To better understand the
complex crystals in coal, Rosalind started using x ray crystallography. She became an expert at
using this technology.
In 1947, Rosalind moved to France. These years were the happiest of her life. She traveled
Europe extensively and had fun with friends. While she was in the prime of her life and could
have been married with a family, she chose not to. Rosalind loved children and would not have
someone else raise them. This commitment was not enough to make her give up her true love
science.
Rosalind headed back home to England in 1950. A physicist, John Randall of King s College,
invited Rosalind into his research group. He told her that her sole project would be to investigate
the structure of certain biological fibres, meaning DNA. This is where a man named Maurice
Wilkins first entered the picture. He was also a research associate in this group and played a
controversial role later in Rosalind s life (McGrayne, 1993).
While at King s, Rosalind discovered much about DNA. Working with her graduate student,
Raymond Gosling, she took the X ray photographs that would eventually lead to the helix theory of
DNA. But she also made other key discoveries. First, she determined that DNA was found in two
distinct forms, the wet and dry forms. Gosling had photographed the dry

Robot Movement Essay
Abstract Navigation movement of the robot is one of the most important parts in an intelligent
robot system. a lot of studies have done on avoiding trajectory, navigation and obstacle in the known
environment, but it is difficult to get, the optimum trajectory in the path in a known environment
this is one of the important parts of the robotic planning.
PRM use to direct the mobile robot to find the target with obstacle avoidance. This paper suggests
trajectory based on a probabilistic Roadmap (PRM) for an autonomous robot trajectory in a known
environment. To simulate and compare the robot motion path with other studies was simulated. The
PRM algorithm uses MATLAB.

II.RELATED WORK
PRM are considered as optimization algorithms for search in a space of potential solutions, the
solution to the problem of planning by PRM is proposed for the first time by [5]. Optimal
trajectory is calculated after several of Numnodes. Some papers have focused on known
environments. Path planning is an important subject in navigation of autonomous mobile robots,
which is to find a best path according to some criterion such as distance or time [6].
In this paper, PRM approach to path planning with Obstacle to solve the problem of path planning
for autonomous robots. We have mostly focused on using PRM to calculate optimized trajectory,
we have thus demonstrated their advantages and disadvantages, and for this we made a comparison
with a widely used approach, PRM associated with GA algorithm study for finding optimal paths.
III.Basic PRM
PRM consist from two important parts Node generation or Num nodes and Node Connection:
PRM are randomly generated in free space. Different studies have been developed that the

DNA In Crime Scene Investigation
Nowadays, DNA is a crucial component of a crime scene investigation, used to both to identify
perpetrators from crime scenes and to determine a suspect s guilt or innocence (Butler, 2005). The
method of constructing a distinctive fingerprint from an individual s DNA was first described by
Alec Jeffreys in 1985. He discovered regions of repetitions of nucleotides inherent in DNAstrands
that differed from person to person (now known as variable number of tandem repeats, or VNTRs),
and developed a technique to adjust the length variation into a definitive identity marker (Butler,
2005). Since then, DNA fingerprinting has been refined to be an indispensible source of evidence,
expanded into multiple methods befitting different types of DNA... Show more content on

Each person inherits two copies of these markers from his or her mother and father, so a higher
similarity denotes a closer biological relationship. The probability of two samples matching is
around one in a billion (dna.gov). DNA profiles are compiled by using gel or capillary
electrophoresis to separate samples into a pattern distinctive of the subject s DNA based on ionic
charge, size, or mobility. Usually, samples in the database are searched at moderate stringency,
which requires that all alleles between the two samples match, but the number of alleles can vary,
accounting for DNA contamination or degradation. Partial, or candidate, matches are samples
that have a similar number of alleles in the forensic profile but are not exact, and are used in
familial DNA searching to find close biological relatives of the original forensic profile. Other
evidence is used to determine relatives, including Y chromosome analysis, which traces family
relationships based on the fact that the Y chromosome is transmitted directly between a father and
his sons; age; and geographic location. The process is based on the principle that first order
relatives have closer DNA profiles than unrelated individuals, and also on the sociological
assumption that criminal tendencies appear in families; according to the Bureau of Justice

Descriptive Essay About Kiss
You were shocked by his actions. You never dated anyone nor had experiences in kissing,
excluding the ones Luhan gave you but you could tell it wasn t a kiss of lust or of any sort. It was
a kiss pure of emotions and love, but you didn t know that.
Which guy would be willing to calm down his hormones and not jump right there, right then on
the girl beside him, on the same bed and almost half naked? It took all his willpower not to
pounce on you since after all, he was a man and he had needs. He was at the age where his raging
hormones were at its most active, but his love and respect for you were overpowering his
selfishness.
Kisses with Luhan were always on the cheek or stolen kisses on the lips. He was the one who
always initiated it. At first, it was awkward but you grew used to it as unusual as it sounded. You
didn t feel uncomfortable with his kisses they were always sweet. Your kisses weren t that many
but they were meaningful.
Luhan hesitantly pulled away and looked at you. You wanted to ask him what the kisswas for, but
you didn t want to be awkward around him. One thing you were sure of, it was sincere. You
looked at him waiting for his next move and you received a warm kiss on your forehead.
You knew something was bothering him, but you didn t know why he was acting that way. Then it
hit you, *maybe he needed comfort*. Really? Comfort a guy by kisses and hugs? You weren t
sure, but your instinct told you to do so.

Surrogacy Should Be Allowed In Australia
The legal framework internationally has made it complex for intended parents to receive the title of
parentage if the child is born overseas via commercial surrogacy arrangements. This has resulted in
many Australians becoming stranded overseas after having a child through a surrogate mother, as
they are unable to apply for citizenship for the child under the Australian Citizenship Act, due to the
obscurities of the definition of parent/s. Consequently the current surrogacylaws have not stopped
the exploitation of under paid women willing to be surrogates; they have simply moved them to
poorer countries such as Nepal, Thailand and India. Thus Surrogacy in Australia presents many
legal and social issues within our country.
In 2014 a commercial surrogacy arrangement was made between an Australian couple and a
desperate 21 year old Thai woman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The agency should be subject to requests of commercial surrogacy which will then be received by
an expert panel team who can approve or dismiss the request once appropriate background checks,

parents with essential services to guide them through the process; this could include counselling
before the process starts, during the process and after the process.
An appropriate source of financial compensation for the surrogate mother, managed by a third party,
such as Centrelink or a specialised government organisation for surrogates as mentioned above. The
compensation the surrogates could possibly receive from this institute includes expenses incurred
due to the pregnancy including maternity clothes and lost wages. Expert Hammarberg states that
allowing surrogates to receive financial compensation may make it easier to recruit surrogates in
Australia and therefore reduce the need of people who undertake illegal surrogacy overseas.

  • 2. Amritsar is the spiritual capital of the Sikhs Amritsar is the spiritual capital of the Sikhs, home to Sikhism s holiest shrine, gaining its name that means Holy Pool of Nectar , from the surrounding body of water around the Golden Temple. Moving away from the famous Golden Temple, you can witness the mos humbling sights, hyperactive streets, traffic noise, air pollution and congestion. The city is divided in two by couple of railway lines. The old city contains the Temple and various other fascinating historic sites bound by 12 gates. Touring this part is quite captivating. To the north, a modern Amritsar has grown spreading a colonial grid. Explore gleaming malls, plush hotels and the corporate world. • 3. Physical Fitness And Educational Programs The film Fit explores the evolution of fitness in the daily lives of American men and women. From being defined as a vision of the body and its possibilities to a literal culture of physical strength and appeal, how we understand fitness has been shaped throughout many generations. In the late nineteenth century, the belief that participating in daily or at least frequent physical exercisewas good for the body was starting to become more popular. People were developing their own programs of calisthenics, and starting to train their bodies. With the emergence of physical fitness and educational programs, the concept of physical fitness blew up and became much more widespread. Certain figures in the movement put forth beliefs that the ideal body emulated Renaissance ideals, and were strong, perfect, and symmetrical. Men began working to become stronger, while women developed aesthetic dances to keep their bodies fit. It was commonly believed that women lost energy faster than men, and that vigorous activities would limit their abilities to reproduce; so, activities that demonstrated extreme physical endurance were almost completely limited to men. As the twentieth century approached, fitness crusades swept across the country. The body became inspected, approved, and admired for its physical capabilities. With the obsession of beauty in muscular aspects came the obsession with genetic perfection through the mating of superior people, or eugenics. Men and women were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Selecting The Female Reproductive System Essay Selecting the female reproductive system to present was slightly awkward with me being a male. In addition to having to have a presentation in a public forum having to provide visual aids of the female reproductive system to my fellow classmates. I didn t look forward to that at all. With that being said, I moved forward with my research on the pathologies of the female reproductive system. I did not take long at all to recognize some familiar terminology related to the pathological anomalies of the female reproductive system that I was familiar with. Pathological terminology such as Fibroids (tissue overgrowth) and Endometriosis (pain in the uterine lining). I had a few people close to me who have suffered from complications of those pathological disorders which led to the loss of pregnancy. At different moments in our life at one time or another will have someone close to us experiencing some issues of the female reproductive system. Having the knowledge of the causes, symptoms, complications and treatments will enable us to not only understand what they are going through but with that knowledge we can comfort them as well. Having a working knowledge of the female reproductive system is beneficial in many areas. In addition to helping those close to us, as a radiology technologist we can better assist or patients. The female reproductive system consists of ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, vagina and breast. The breast is not a primary organ in the female ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Overfishing Is A Problem For A Long Time Over fishing has been a worldwide problem for a long time. Overfishing is not only a problem for Bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus) but with many other marine animals. The economic effect overfishing has on the cost of fishing and how it affects people is important. Overfishing has a huge economic effect on fishermen and the cost of fishing. Even though many people believe that overfishing is not that big of a problem, it seems to be an ongoing problem in the world. Overfishing is a major problem today and seems to be going unnoticed. People need to be aware of the negative economic effects in order to change their ways. Ocean overfishing is simply the taking of wildlife from the sea at rates too high for fished species to replace themselves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Illegal fishing and unsustainable harvesting still plague the industry ( Overfishing ). A public grown accustomed to abundant seafood and largely apathetic about the plight of the ocean complicates efforts to repair the damage we ve done ( Overfishing ). Overfishing is and has been a very important business to those who rely on it. For this to still happen all over the world shows how little people really care about this horrible act. The Bluefin tuna, which has been endangered for several years and has the misfortune to be prized by the Japanese sushi lovers, has suffered a catastrophic decline in stocks in the Northern Pacific Ocean, of more than 96% ( Overfishing causes Pacific Bluefin tuna numbers to drop 96% , 2013). For a long time, Bluefin tuna have been a worldwide problem. It seems that nobody really wants to stop it, it seems that people put little effort into a major problem. One Bluefin tuna sold in Japan for more than ВЈ1m, reflecting the rarity of the Bluefin tuna and the continued demand for its fatty flesh ( Overfishing causes Pacific Bluefin tuna numbers to drop 96% , 2013). An interesting fact from this newspaper was that more than nine out of 10 of the species recently caught were too young to have reproduced, meaning they may have been the last generation of the Bluefin tuna ( Overfishing causes Pacific Bluefin tuna numbers to drop 96% , 2013). • 6. `` Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History `` Multiple Meanings Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, in a scholarly article written in 1976, wrote that well behaved women seldom make history (Ulrich XIII). Over time, that phrase has became a slogan for feminists around the world. It appears on many products and media, like shirts, jewelry, and even wine glasses. At the time she wrote it, she meant for it to mean that women who are well behaved do not get their stories told, even if they did something extraordinary or heroic, though now, people interpret it in many different ways. Fig. 1. Well behaved women seldom make history shirt (Customized Girl). The most common product with the phrase well behaved women seldom make history being sold on Amazon is, by far, shirts. There is a variety... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This interpretation, compared to how Ulrich meant for the quote to be interpreted is quite different. Ulrich wanted the quote to represent how women who do not do something bad, rarely get their stories told, no matter how heroic their actions were, while the creators of this shirt want women to speak out, to make change, and to create equality for everyone, which, by some people, is seen as wrong for women to do. Although what the designers of this product seem to be aiming for is different than what Ulrich originally meant for her quote, I am sure that Ulrich still would support that message. Fig. 2. Well behaved women seldom make history necklace (Amazon) Another product that stood out was a necklace. It is a bronze colored chain with a round, white pendant, that is maybe an inch in diameter. The pendant has the quote well behaved women seldom make history on it, with Laurel Thatcher Ulrich credited beneath it. Similarly to the shirt, women and history are in a bigger font (see Fig. 2). It is being sold by a seller called DSD, whose main products seem to be similar jewelry, many of which are small, literature related products, with quotes from various books on them. This product, out of the three analyzed here, is probably the closest to how Ulrich meant for her quote to be interpreted. It is a small pendant that people are not going to be able to read ... Through intense strategic planning, based upon the vision, mission and corporate values, Chick fil A has been able to establish a unique position in a very competitive industry. The corporate purpose of Chick fil A, To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us and to have a positive influence on all who come into contact witch Chick fil A , their commitment to family and the community, and their sound business decisions, have made Chick fil A one of the most profitable and fastest growing quick service restaurants... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite this, Chick fil A has posted positive increases in revenue all 40 years the company has been in business, many of which have been double digit increases. These increases may seem extraordinary, but Chick fil A has used a strategy that ensures their success. Another factor which has the ability to have a major impact on profitability is the increasing price of chicken. With the increasing popularity of ethanol based fuels made primarily of corn it is becoming more costly to feed and raise chickens, whose main source of food is corn. This new demand for corn has increased the price, which is in turn passed onto the next buyer. It is necessary for Chick fil A to address this issue and formulate a plan of action to try to combat these rising costs. Technology Chick fil A does not have any distinct or visible technological advantages that can distinguish the company from its competitors. The company does, however, have processes in place which gives Chick fil A an advantage in both profitability and customer service. First, Chick fil A s smaller menu offering, compared to its competitors, contributes to the company s large profit margins. Secondly, Chick fil A has stringent guidelines and goals concerning service time for customers; customers should wait no more than one minute for service. The combination of these two ... However, bridge circuits, circuits with parallel resistors, bridged by a branch between them, were used to measure small voltages; but, the Wheatstone bridge is used to measure an unknown resistance using all the others three known resistance in the circuit. During the lab, the Wheatstone Bridgeconcept for a bridge circuit was used to determine the unknown resistorin the circuit, see in figure 1. The objective was to measure the voltages between points on the branch between the first two resistors in series on top and bottom ones, in which were connected in parallel. Thereafter, test the voltage calculated at different temperatures, those being room temperature, ice water and hot water; by using a thermistor in the circuit, that helps calibrate the Wheatstone bridge as a thermometer. Methods Firstly, the protoboard was powered with 1 volts coming from the power supply. The circuit was assembled by connecting two resistors in series on top and one resistor and the thermistor in series on the bottom connected to the top branch in parallel. The left end of the circuit was powered by 1 v from the power supply and the rightmost end was grounded. Again, towards the end of the bright lighting, a dark color is presented to create an eerie atmosphere. For instance, an excellent use of lighting is offered in the dead farmer s scene. Here, lighting symbolizes the mood in the scene. It starts with Lydia trekking down in a very bright sunlight, the light dims as she approaches the door. Inside the house, there is a window with natural light although no false in the house. Even so, the absence of light suggests a bad situation, which the audience is left to figure out. The main characters in modern movies are usually directed in key lights. Generally, the lights on these key objects are brighter than the fill light and the backlight. Light is targeted to give clarity of the image, to quest for better realism and to create an atmosphere of emotions (Cohen 127). To further prove that this poem contains romantic undertones, it should be noted that Remember is a Petrarchan sonnet, containing fourteen lines and a volta, known for focusing on courtship or love. The feeling of longing produced in her poem suggests Rossetti uses Albert s voice to reach out to the Queen to help her cope with her loss. In 2000, there were more than 100,000 elephants left, but now, in 2017, there are only 35,000 to 40,000 left. Some of the problems Asian elephants face is habitat loss, ivory poaching and the kidnapping of young elephants. Luckily, there are many ways you can help to stop them from going extinct, including donating to places like the Pinnawala ElephantOrphanage, encouraging selective logging, shutting down ivorymarkets, donating and shunning places that advertise the chance to see a baby elephant. The main problem causing Asian elephants to be endangered is habitat loss. People have been cutting down the tropical forests where the elephants used to live and are building houses in the valleys and plains. In fact, about 20% of all humans live close to the current habitat of the Asian elephant. The elephants move to the hills and the remains of the forests, but even then they are still at risk. Because the elephants are forced into smaller areas, inbreeding may occur. The elephants are unable to mix with other herds, which causes their genetic material to be too closely related to that of other elephants in their herd. The migrations of the elephants have also been disrupted by habitat loss. Dams, coffee and tea plantations, railway lines, and roads break up the routes the elephants once used on their seasonal migration. Selective logging is one solution to habitat loss. • 28. Importance Of Purpose To Study Medieval Literature My intention in applying to the English PhD program at UNCG is to study Medieval Literature, specifically feminism and gender stereotypes as they are presented in medieval texts. This has been my passion for many years and my studies have shaped my personal beliefs and world views. My desire to study medieval literature started in high school while reading the works of Chaucer in my senior English class. This is where my love of literature began, on that pilgrimage, reading their stories. My love of Chaucer was furthered when I took a course on his works, taught by Dr. Amy Vines. I was already interested in Chaucer but Dr. Vines love of medieval texts was easily transferred to her students through her lectures. Listening to her recite texts in Old English made me even more curious about the language and the texts. Also in undergraduate, while learning about the different methods of critiquing literature I found that the feminist critique was one that I enjoyed the most. It was interesting to me to find deeper meaning in the texts we were studying. In graduate school I found it enjoyable to debate with my classmates about the meaning behind actions taken by the characters, especially when they would see sexism when I would see feminism for example we often disagreed while reading Woman at Point Zero by Nawal El Saadawi. The 1881 pogroms immediately followed the assassination of Czar Alexander II. Due to industrialization, the Russian government plunged into turmoil, and the masses were living impoverished and discontented lives. The assassins were a radical group called Narodnaya Volya, consisting entirely of Atheists, only one who was born Jewish. Anti Semitic groups claimed the Jews were the ones who killed Czar Alexander II. Riots ensued: Jewish homes and businesses were destroyed, and people were killed and injured. Historians debate whether the 1881 pogroms were really just a spontaneous reaction to the assassination of Czar Alexander II, or whether they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the newspapers were an important ingredient in preparing for the pogroms and adding to the anti Semitic feeling of the times, they do not support any master plan nor government approval. Multiple articles in the Novorossisski Telegraf never call for physical violence against the Jews. They specifically say to fight the Jewish exploitation with money, not with violence. Rumors were a way of life in Russia and not part of a master plan by the government. In fact, Kutaisov writes when investigating the pogroms, because of the government s faulty communication with the people, rumors would circulate... (93 94). Aronson supports the spontaneity of the pogroms by showing how the pogroms mostly occurred on a religious holiday or a Sunday when there was a lot of drinking and when religious feelings were high. It s much easier for violence to break out at these times. Also, the pogroms never occurred on any rumored dates. Aaronson further states that there was not a specific pattern to all the pogroms. There was not as much uniformity as previously believed. The time frame and the amount of damage differed from pogrom to pogrom. Although many of the pogroms were the predictable three days, the three days were only because most of the time the pogrom broke out in the afternoon, the military then arrived by the next day and only was able to stop the pogrom the following day. Aaronson agrees that the government s inaction perpetuated the pogroms but their inaction was not because they organized the pogroms. The government was ill equipped and couldn t handle the large urban centered pogroms. They had only previously dealt with small peasant rural uprisings. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Change In Health Care Policy Impact of changes from change in health care policy Discussion 3 In chapter three of the Estes Healthcare policy, she explores the healthcare reforms now and in the future. Her analysis borrows from other studies that had been done to explore the implications of the healthcare reforms to all the stakeholders. The article explores the implications of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Medicaid and Children`s Health Insurance Program Provisions, and Community Living Assistance, Services and Support Act. The changes would have significant changes in the healthcare delivery systems. One of the implications of the changes would be decreased quality of healthcare. The program aimed to increase the number of the insured people and the number of the people accessing basic healthcare in the US. The inclusion of the economically challenged in the care program stimulated the need for reduced contribution to the model. The decreased contribution to the program translated to decreased payments of the services offered in the clinics by the insurer. To operate effectively with the reduced payments, the clinics adopted designs of healthcare delivery or advanced practices that are aligned to the amount paid by the insurer that significantly reduced the quality of the healthcare delivery (Estes et al., 2013). The Iraq and Iran war strained Iraq s political, and social life. Also put Iraq s economy into severe conditions. The 1980, 8 year war between Iraqand Iranwas fueled by many factors including border disputes (geographical and economical), and Iraq s new dictator Saddam Hussein (political). Saddam Hussein feared that the new Iranian leadership would threaten Iraq s Sunni Shia, and the minimal access to the Persian Gulf. The war was multifaceted and had many religious schisms, political differences, border disputes, ethnic disputes and a very personal fight between Saddam Hussein and Ayatollah Khomeini. Iraq launched the war in effort to strengthen the rising power in Iraq, and to replace Iran as the dominant Persian Gulf State. So that is the reason they make the entire vest in one piece, so it can take that force of energy from the bullet and make It spread throughout the vest. (company, 2016) How effective is it? Kevlar is what soldiers use today, they can stop some handgun bullets. • 44. Examples Of Policy Issues Related To Maternal Health Policy issues related to maternal and child Health Introduction Maternal and child mortality remains a major public health problem for Kenya. Despite the Government s commitment to the international and regional health agenda, the country has lagged behind in meeting most of the targets set in the international and regional declarations. Besides communicable diseases, lifestyle related diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease and cancers are increasing, hence posing a threat to the health care system in terms of diverting resources from basic health care services to these diseases. The huge burden of disease is due primarily to pervasive poverty, compounded by years of erratic application of policy, with the result that most of the population lacks the enabling environment for health, such as good nutrition, clean water, quality housing and conducive living environment. Weak public healths systems characterized by inadequate financial and human resources, inefficient support systems, and poorly coordinated responses to public health problems are responsible for the poor performance of the health care system. The Government s budget allocation to health care, which is currently at 8%, is far short of the 15% target agreed in the Abuja Declaration.2 For example, the number of nurses and doctors per population is 33/100,000 and 17/100,000, respectively, which is below the standard recommended by the World Health Organization(WHO). DNA In Crime Scene Investigation Nowadays, DNA is a crucial component of a crime scene investigation, used to both to identify perpetrators from crime scenes and to determine a suspect s guilt or innocence (Butler, 2005). The method of constructing a distinctive fingerprint from an individual s DNA was first described by Alec Jeffreys in 1985. He discovered regions of repetitions of nucleotides inherent in DNAstrands that differed from person to person (now known as variable number of tandem repeats, or VNTRs), and developed a technique to adjust the length variation into a definitive identity marker (Butler, 2005). Since then, DNA fingerprinting has been refined to be an indispensible source of evidence, expanded into multiple methods befitting different types of DNA... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each person inherits two copies of these markers from his or her mother and father, so a higher similarity denotes a closer biological relationship. The probability of two samples matching is around one in a billion (dna.gov). DNA profiles are compiled by using gel or capillary electrophoresis to separate samples into a pattern distinctive of the subject s DNA based on ionic charge, size, or mobility. Usually, samples in the database are searched at moderate stringency, which requires that all alleles between the two samples match, but the number of alleles can vary, accounting for DNA contamination or degradation. Partial, or candidate, matches are samples that have a similar number of alleles in the forensic profile but are not exact, and are used in familial DNA searching to find close biological relatives of the original forensic profile. Other evidence is used to determine relatives, including Y chromosome analysis, which traces family relationships based on the fact that the Y chromosome is transmitted directly between a father and his sons; age; and geographic location. The process is based on the principle that first order relatives have closer DNA profiles than unrelated individuals, and also on the sociological assumption that criminal tendencies appear in families; according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics Correctional Populations ... • 52. Hospital Care For Neuromuscular Disease ( Nmd ) Patients... I Abstract: The purpose of this research is to compares hospital at home and patient in hospital care for neuromuscular disease (NMD) patients with respiratory tract infections. The main outcome measures were need for hospitalization, treatment failure, time to recovery, death during the first 3months following exacerbation, and cost of patient care. The diagnoses of NMD were based on the standard clinical, DNA, and biopsy data. The diagnosis of a respiratory tract infection was based on the presence of fever, throat irritation or sore throat. Fifty nine patients with NMD were identified as suffering from a respiratory tract infection and therefore considered for the study but some patients were excluded because some required critical... Manually and/or Mechanically Assisted Cough manually assisted cough was employed to provide optimal insufflations. Portable ventilator was used to deliver deep insufflations. Both assisted coughs were administered for the first 3 days of the home care practical by a respiratory care therapist, who visited the patients every morning. They trained them for 3 days how to use NIV. The pulmonology also visited the subjects for the first three days. The nurses visited the patients mornings and afternoons until recover them not to getting worst. Out of the 53 subjects, twenty six patients were recruited to the hospital at home care and twenty seven were hospitalized. The two groups were similar in demographic, clinical, and pulmonary function characteristics, however pneumonia as a cause of acute decompensation was most frequent in the hospitalized group versus the hospital at home group. In the hospital at home group 18 subjects or 69.2% responded well and eight required hospitalization. These eight subjects were all older and suffered from ALS which is an advance form of NMD and also had a history of more hospitalization during the last three years. Three out of those eight subjects required intubation due to mucus encumbrance and severe hypoxemia and eventually needed a tracheotomy. Three other subjects required full time ventilatory dependence and a 24 hour surveillance in respiratory ICU. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Descriptive Essay About Kiss You were shocked by his actions. You never dated anyone nor had experiences in kissing, excluding the ones Luhan gave you but you could tell it wasn t a kiss of lust or of any sort. It was a kiss pure of emotions and love, but you didn t know that. Which guy would be willing to calm down his hormones and not jump right there, right then on the girl beside him, on the same bed and almost half naked? It took all his willpower not to pounce on you since after all, he was a man and he had needs. He was at the age where his raging hormones were at its most active, but his love and respect for you were overpowering his selfishness. Kisses with Luhan were always on the cheek or stolen kisses on the lips. He was the one who always initiated it. At first, it was awkward but you grew used to it as unusual as it sounded. You didn t feel uncomfortable with his kisses they were always sweet. Your kisses weren t that many but they were meaningful. Luhan hesitantly pulled away and looked at you. You wanted to ask him what the kisswas for, but you didn t want to be awkward around him. One thing you were sure of, it was sincere. You looked at him waiting for his next move and you received a warm kiss on your forehead. You knew something was bothering him, but you didn t know why he was acting that way. Then it hit you, *maybe he needed comfort*. Really? Comfort a guy by kisses and hugs? You weren t sure, but your instinct told you to do so. You wrapped your arms around his waist and you ... • 55. Colorectal Carcinoma Essay Colorectal carcinoma (CRC) is one of the lethal malignant diseases and is the third most common cancer and the fourth most common cause of cancer deaths worldwide. It is the third most common cancer in men (10% of all cancers in men worldwide) and second most in women (9.2% of all cancers in women worldwide)(1). It is a slow developing cancerthat begins as a tumor or a tissue growth on the inner lining of the large bowel. The most common type of CRC is adenocarcinoma (more than 95%)(2). Even with advancements in the diagnostic technologies the detection is usually late however accurate pre operative staging has a definite impact in the treatment plan and is important in selecting patients for pre operative chemotherapyor radiotherapy or both. GLOBOCAN 2012 says because of China s large population size, approximately one fifth of the world population, these Chinese data contribute significantly to the global burden of cancer: almost 22% of global new cancer cases and close to 27% of global cancer deaths occur in China(3). Particularly, the diagnostic accuracy of pre operative MRI in predicting the circumferential resection margin (CRM) of rectal cancer was well established through a prospective trial(8).The overall accuracy of MRI in predicting the pathologic stage of non irradiated rectal cancer is 71 91% (mean 85%) for T staging, 43 85% (mean 75%) for N staging and 92 95% for CRM involvement(9). Due to the therapeutic effects of pre operative CRT 30 50% of the patients experience down staging of rectal cancer(10). MRI is repeatedly performed after pre operative CRT. However the interpretation of post CRT MRI in rectal cancer is not easy due to post radiation effects(9). In this study, we analyze on the prediction of pathologic stage with restaging MRI for rectal cancer patients who had received pre operative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Surrogacy Should Be Allowed In Australia The legal framework internationally has made it complex for intended parents to receive the title of parentage if the child is born overseas via commercial surrogacy arrangements. This has resulted in many Australians becoming stranded overseas after having a child through a surrogate mother, as they are unable to apply for citizenship for the child under the Australian Citizenship Act, due to the obscurities of the definition of parent/s. Consequently the current surrogacylaws have not stopped the exploitation of under paid women willing to be surrogates; they have simply moved them to poorer countries such as Nepal, Thailand and India. Thus Surrogacy in Australia presents many legal and social issues within our country. In 2014 a commercial surrogacy arrangement was made between an Australian couple and a desperate 21 year old Thai woman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The agency should be subject to requests of commercial surrogacy which will then be received by an expert panel team who can approve or dismiss the request once appropriate background checks, physical and health checks are completed. This agency should then provide surrogates and intended parents with essential services to guide them through the process; this could include counselling before the process starts, during the process and after the process. An appropriate source of financial compensation for the surrogate mother, managed by a third party, such as Centrelink or a specialised government organisation for surrogates as mentioned above. The compensation the surrogates could possibly receive from this institute includes expenses incurred due to the pregnancy including maternity clothes and lost wages. Expert Hammarberg states that allowing surrogates to receive financial compensation may make it easier to recruit surrogates in Australia and therefore reduce the need of people who undertake illegal surrogacy overseas.
