Speed Or Tempo Research Paper
Speed or Tempo: What is the difference?
Michael Smith
American Military University
Speed or Tempo: What is the difference?
Speed in terms of command and control is the ability to shorten the time needed to make key
decisions, plans, coordinate as well as communicate. Whereas tempo is acting at the right time as well
as acting the fastest or the earliest, the main importance between the two is speed is the ability to
shorten the time between the decisions being made whereas tempo, is implementing the right timing
on the battlefield. There is a large need to increase speed on the battlefield, whether it be speeding up
operations or slowing the enemies speed. Now which one allows the other to be more effective?
Tempo, tempo or the rhythm of the battle allows speed to be increased. In terms of intelligence and
command and control, effective intelligence can be the make it or break it factor in terms of increasing

Orient, Observe, Decide and Act, through this loop speed are essential, the ability to be faster than the
enemy, to outthink and out maneuver, is a key on the battlefield that can decide victory or failure. One
key example of this was in WWII with General George S. Patton, during the battle of the bulge he and
his staff began preparing 3 separate plans as well as keeping their information flow open in case of a
German attack which came. His ability to read the battlefield and the information being fed to him
from his G 2 kept him well informed and gave him the ability to preempt the strike and counter the
German attack. The other key point was the focus on intelligence from Gen. Patton, by using the

The Cheesecake Factory Experience

PAPER
I personally don t like to eat out much. I only go out and eat when there are any special occasions. The
last time I went out eating was with my boyfriend on our first anniversary. We went to The
Cheesecake Factory which is also on of my favorite places to dine in.
The Cheesecake Factory is very familiar with everyone now. This place is famous for their
cheesecakes as well as the diversity of food to choose from. The Cheesecake Factory was established
in the 1940s by Oscar and Evelyn Overton. Mrs. Overton personally made baked cheesecakes in the
basement of their home for the best local restaurants. In 1972 they moved their business to Los
Angeles, California where they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think anyone can do that, no need to depend on any person. So in case if it was really busy, a single
person cannot prepare cheesecake for all the customers in the same time, others can help. Besides, I
believe ethics are a collection of principles and practices that a business believes in and aims to live
by. The Cheesecake Factory s mission statement and more specific policies about conduct to give
employees, partners, vendors, and outsiders an idea of what the corporation stands for and how it s
staff should conduct themselves. Key areas that are of significant importance to The Cheesecake
Factory start with the general standards of conduct in how all its employees will be treated by fellow
employees and by management. The standards deals the basic values that we all have, with the
expectation of building trust, loyalty, honesty, respect, and a high level of professionalism within the
company. This will create a positive working environment that will uplift the attitudes and morale of
its employees and depending on what your position is could increase productivity and customer
relations. All jobs have a certain amount stress related to it, but having those basic codes of the takes
away a lot the negative personal stress that can arrive on the job.
In conclusion, I still consider The Cheesecake Factory is my favorite place to eat. Even though I had a
bad experience there once, I think that they can improve it better.

A Note on Fuel Hedging in the Airline Industry
Fuel hedging in the airline industry Introduction Hedging can be defined as a risk management
mechanism or strategy which is used to prevent the chances of incurring losses which arise as a result
of fall in prices commodities or currencies. It is a technique which is majorly used by the investors in
protecting their capital against the effects of the economic situations such as inflation whereby the
investors invests in the high yield financial instruments or take a position to cushion them against such
effects (Investopedia, 2012). From its definition it can be noticed that hedging is a strategy employed
by companies in an effort to safeguard their economic position and to prevent the company from the
losses which are associated with the unforeseen risks. Companies can hedge against risks which are
associated with losses by taking control of their future purchases. The commodity prices vary in
different markets and are caused or influenced by different economic factors. Some commodities are
very scarce and with the increased depletion subject to the global demand in different foreign markets,
the prices are set to be hiked in response to the established demand which positions the companies that
use those particular commodities to have cash flow problems. Pricing of commodities are arrived at
basically from the forces of demand and supply, a decrease in supply of a basic commodity or a
commodity with a high utility value causes the demand to rise suddenly. There are

Adequate To Recognize A Person Essay
A Second is Adequate to Recognize a Person
It is a powerful saying that one s company has a strong impact on one, for it can have a huge influence
on how one thinks, feels, or perhaps behaves. Therefore, it could be inferred that the culture that one
hangs out in becomes one s persona. Along those sixteen years, I have bumped into many people,
many friends, and many influential personalities, thus I can tell for a fact that I have grasped
something from each human being. Only after, I have analyzed them as having a negative or a positive
impact on me. Taking two cousins an example, I have not interacted with them much due to
differences in our geographical location; however, the time we spent together was enough to
determine the aura they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Starting off with Zahbia, she went to a private school which emphasized education, and laid aside
fashion and social gatherings. Her parents, in particular, cultivated an academic environment at home,
as I have witnessed Zahbia spending consecutive hours studying for an upcoming test, absolutely
ignoring her surroundings. However, I have also witnessed Rimsha spending consecutive hours
getting ready for school or an event, absolutely ignoring her grades. Since Rimsha attended a coed
school, and her friends circle consisted of mostly rich girls, she was always into getting the best
accessories according to the latest fashions. I vividly remember the time when our extended family
was getting ready to attend a reception, and I was specifically tieing my headscarf, when Rimsha
remarked, You are going to wear the headscarf to a wedding as well? I mean it ruins your
beauty...Look at me. At that moment, I was literally speechless not only because I was told something
negative about my appearance, but because Rimsha ,pursuing the same religion as me, made such an
objection. This highlights the extremities between the ambiences in which Rimsha and Zahbia have
grown up. Nevertheless, they both, to this day and very hour, remain my cousins on the maternal side.

Light In The Painted Door
In The Painted Door by Sinclair Ross, it is evident that light is used to illustrate the degradation of
Ann s devotion to John as the night approaches and the time spent with Steven, due to John s absence,
lengthens. This is first demonstrated when the setting of a landscape with bitter light (1) is established.
Despite the bitterness, caused by Ann and John s non communicative relationship, the light
exemplifies that Ann retains a secure devotion towards John and is confident that he will return home
no matter what circumstances. Moreover, this is demonstrated when Ann offers to paint the kitchen
wood work... to make the room a lot lighter (2). Although Ann is aware that painting the woodwork is
an inconsequential task, as the paint will peel off, she is yearning to bring ... Show more content on

Furthermore, Ann s uncertainty flourishes when night [comes] early (5) and the slow dimming of the
light [clutches] her with an illogical sense of abandonment (5). The illusion of loneliness becomes
reality as night approaches and John remains absent. As the light progressively disappears, Ann begins
to feel abandoned and uncertain of the truth behind John s promise. In addition, we notice the
significance of light in Ann and John s relationship when Steven arrives and Ann [lets] him in and
[lights] the lamp (6). Lighting the lamp for Steven elucidates Ann s slight sense of reassurance that
John will return. During her moment of uncertainty, Ann believes that if Steven is able to travel and
persist through the storm then John will be capable as well. However, this feeling is momentary as the
lamp between [her and Steven] [flickers] (7). The flickering light augments a feeling of weariness in
her fidelity as well as wavering feelings towards Steven. Ann is unsure of her feelings towards John
and begins to question if they should instead be directed to Steven

Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood
The concern about the condition of the world today is an ever present debatable issue in our current
society. In the science fiction novel Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood, the author as put by Jayne
Glover in critical analysis Human/Nature: Ecological Philosophy in Margaret Atwood s Oryx and
Crake , Atwood speculates on what the near future may be like considering the realities of
contemporary environmental, social and political issues (Glover 50). Atwood s novel specifically
focuses on the question: when will the line be drawn? She emphasizes dystopian ideals by painting a
grim picture of a futuristic society that extends many of the scientific capabilities available today to a
probable future state of existence. Additionally Atwood portrays a society that is consistent with a
godless and soulless people that would logically evolve if all current standards of morality were
abandoned. In Oryx and Crake, Atwood uses society s obsessive need for immortality to demonstrate
the dystopian idea of the loss of sacredness of life. Atwood demonstrates this theme through the use of
symbolism and biblical allusions. Atwood uses the theme of immortality to show how the need to
always be young and to never die is a dystopian ideal. The creation of the pigoons (Atwood 22),

Euthanasia Is A Form Of Doctor Assisted Suicide
Euthanasia is a form of doctor assisted suicide. There are many different types of Euthanasia and all
are currently illegal in the United States with the exception of the state of Oregon. When a patient is
being Euthanized they can be given an injection intravenously which causes their death this is called
Euthanasia by action. A person could also be assisted to death through euthanasia by omission; this is
when the patient is not provided with the appropriate things such as food or water. Also patients can be
given a medication that renders them into a deep sleep in which they are left to die, either through the
progression of their illness or through starvation. The most important aspect of doctor assisted suicide
is whether it is voluntary, involuntary or non voluntary. The difference between non voluntary and
involuntary is that non voluntary is when the patient does not request to be euthanized but they are.
Involuntary euthanization is when a person specifically asks that they not be euthanized and they are.
Although euthanasia is illegal some forms of it are still regularly practiced in today s healthcare
system. Euthanasia dates back to as early as 1828 when the first law was written to outlaw anyone
from providing a person with a dangerous weapon and or a harmful chemical that would knowingly be
used in the taking of a person s own life. This would include taking the life of another person with
their permission. In 1920 the book Permitting the Destruction of Life

Essay on Prophet and Tecumseh
It is believed that Tecumseh was born in 1768 in central Ohio. He was the second son of a Shawnee
warrior who was killed at the Battle of Point Pleasant. In his dying breaths, his father commanded his
eldest son Cheesuaka, to train Tecumseh as a warrior and to never make peace with the whites.
Cheesuaka was good to his word and became an excellent warrior and a teacher. He grew close with
his younger brother, and after their mother moved to Missouri he acted as a foster parent as well.
Tecumseh was a model child, and although it is claimed that he ran in terror from his first battle, his
courage never faltered from then on. Tall, muscular, intelligent, and highly charismatic, Tecumseh

the whites continue to take Indian lands, they had made the Indians dependent on the white world s

Prophets teachings called for a total rejection of the white culture, which included the clothing and
technology, alcohol and religion. He also spoke out against the selling of land because according to
Indian beliefs no one owned the land. This was according to ancient tradition; the land and its
resources were given to everyone by the Great Spirit. Along with this, Prophet preached another
powerful message he called for an intertribal confederacy that would accept Indians everywhere. To
help this vision become a reality Prophet looked to his brother, Tecumseh. (Edmunds)
Tecumseh was a very powerful speaker and a well respected warrior. From the time he was very
young it was obvious he would be a very highly skilled hunter, leader and warrior. The two used his
image amongst the native in order influence them to join the fight. Tecumseh considered himself an
Indian first and a Shawnee second. This helped the brothers vision of one united Indian confederacy
seem more feasible. (Edmunds)

Web Architecture And Components That Enable Internet And...
Unit 28 Website Production Assignment 1
Alex Aricci 2nd October 2014
P1
Introduction
The purpose of this report is to outline the web architecture and components that enable internet and
web functionality.
Internet Service Providers (ISP)
ISPs are the companies which own or rent the infrastructure which provides internet access to its
customers for a fee. ISPs often offer different services at different price points with more expensive
ones often having higher bandwidth and download limits (or no download limits at all) as well as
sometimes providing phone and digital TV services (for instance, Sky, Virgin, BT) although available
services vary locally due to differences in infrastructure.
Web Hosting Services
Web hosting services provide space and bandwidth on the internet for people to make their websites
available online. When a web page is requested the web host sends a web page to someone trying to
access it via a server.
Domain Structure
The Domain Name system is a system on the internet used to translate IP addresses (long string of
numbers that describe the location of a resource on the internet) into recognisable names, this makes it
easier for humans to navigate the internet as it is much easier to remember the name of a website than
to remember its I.P. address. It is a hierarchical system that points users to various resources,
computers or services on the internet, such as images or videos.

Chapters Of My Life During The United States Army
Chapters in my Life
The day I enlisted in the United States Army is the day my life changed and everything else around
me, it is who I am today. Before then, I grew up in a family of five, four boys and one girl. Struggling
day by day just to get around, my mother at that time was the only one working and my father was
politician man and working for the Mayor his right hand man for about four years. Until the new
election came and that s when my father got released from his job. With my mother the only one
working she had many mouths to feed, my dad would do the best he could every day. My dad was like
a jack of all trades as people would say, he is a fisherman, carpenter, cook and other skills I didn t
know he possessed. My father even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So when I turned eighteen, I and some of my classmates flew to the neighboring island to see the
United States Army Recruiter. My recruiter showed me a video of what an infantryman does and I was
sold, then told him that this is the perfect job for me. I didn t know what I was getting myself into. It
was hard for my parents to accept that I was joining the Army, especially my mom, all she could think
of was that I was going to war and bad things could happen to me. She didn t want me to experience
that kind of life and she couldn t bear the thought of losing one of her own children. So the day I flew
off to basic I told my parents, Everything will be fine trust me . This was my first time leaving the
islands and being away from my family for a good while. So myself and two of my buddies started
basic training together, we stuck together as soon as we got to 30th AG. I didn t know what I was
getting myself into I have never seen so many different people in one area. I have never experienced
being away on my own for the first time, I had no clue what was going on. I wanted to give up and
quit, but I told myself no! I cannot go back home as a quitter, ever since then, my motivation that kept
me going was my family and friends, I wanted them to be proud of who I ve become. I graduated
basic training February 2005

His simplification of the menu and emphasis on wines were major elements in the development of a
style of banqueting that prevailed over the next 165 years of White House functions. During the
presidency of John Kennedy, banquets were enhanced by the contributions of Jacqueline Kennedy.
Like Jefferson, Mrs Kennedy preferred menus of simple elegance that concentrated on a high quality
of food and service. The records tracing the development of the banquet menu throughout the
centuries provide a rich and exciting chronicle of food items, recipes, and traditions. Many of these
food items and recipes endure in our contemporary food customs. Today in the UK, banquets serve
many purposes from training sessions, to formal business dinners. Business banquets are a popular
way to strengthen bonds between businessmen and their partners. It is common that a banquet is
organized at the end of an academic conference. A luau is one variety of banquets originally used in
Hawaii. The Nei Mongol provincial government in China levies a tax on banquets. 1.3 THREE

Archetypes In Frankenstein
Victor Frankenstein, in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, portrays both a Byronic hero and a tragic hero.
Characteristics of both of these types of hero archetypes shape Victor by depicting him as a victim,
despite the fact that he created the monster, and these characteristics shape the themes of the novel.
Victor has characteristics of a Byronic hero, which shapes his character and the themes. A Byronic
hero is a melancholy and rebellious young man, distressed by a terrible wrong he committed in the
past (The Definition of Byronic Hero). Victor is clearly troubled from creating the monster, as seen in:
his stature...exceed that of a man. I was troubled; a mist came over my eyes, and I felt a faintness seize
me (Shelly 93). The way Victor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Theses qualities portray Victor as the victim and innocent, which is ironic since he created the monster
which caused all the destruction and terror. Victor portraying himself as a victim caused all of the
tragedies to occur fairly quickly, because he could have gone to authorities earlier and they might have
treated him differently. The victim act brings up the complexity of the relationship between Victor and
the creature; since he created the monster he should be in control of the relationship, yet the monster is
in control and powerful since Victor is innocent. Victor is not a victim of the creature, but a victim of
fate and free will, yet Victor refuses to believe that he had any decision in this matter and blames it all
on fate. These qualities also call attention to the theme of parenting since the creature upsets Victor
and he refuses to take care of it and how the lack of parental influence can cause somebody to make
bad decisions. This again brings attention to the paradoxical relationship between the creature and
Frankenstein, since the creature is more powerful than the creator. Byronic and tragic hero
characteristics combine in Frankenstein because Victor is a melancholic man who made a error in the
past which causes his downfall. The combination of these two type of heroes allows Victor to be a
victim and brings in the theme of

Sleep Disorders And Sleep Disorder
Every single person in the world sleeps, but why or what exactly makes us sleep? This is a very good
question because everyone does it without actually thinking about it. Knowing or even trying to
understand how one sleeps can be a very interesting topic to dissect. This also gives researchers a wide
area of study for collecting data and then interpreting that data for doctors to help patients. It is
important to learn and study sleep, especially if one has one or more sleeping disorder(s). We can
study that behavior and find ways to remedy or even cure whichever sleep disorder(s) you may have.
Not getting adequate sleep can cause many everyday tasks to be rather difficult to accomplish and also
even make every day learning and remembering more difficult. Not only remembering during the day,
but also remembering when you are sleeping. You may be asking, remembering when you sleep?
Well, when you get an insufficient amount of sleep you become more prone to sleep disorders such as
parasomnia and obstructive sleep apnea. Sleep is a topic that many neuropsychologists would like to
study in order to better understand the body in its state of rest and even find how sleep is related to
crime and in more appalling cases, murder. First, why do we sleep? Sleep is a very complex and
sometimes a very hard to understand matter of human life. We all know that sleep is a necessity and if
we don t get an adequate amount then things start to deteriorate in our mind and body. Thomas Edison

In the sick minds of those who murder again and again, rape, pain and death are twisted into a passion

power over others, and to explore their fatal addiction to their immoral thrills. Even though these
horrific crimes of a serial killer repulse most individuals, there is still a strange fascination when it
comes to these deadly killers. I chose the movie The Lovely Bones to profile a serial killer. In the
movie we do not really get a background of Mr. Harvey childhood, but in the book we find out that

Monkey D. Luffy Character Traits
Episode 1: I m Luffy! The Man Who Will Become The Pirate King!
Monkey D. Luffy starts his journey of becoming the King of the Pirates. He meets Coby and saves

In this episode, the characters that are presented showed atypical gendered behaviors and traits. For
example, Alvida is a girl and she is the captain of her ship. Furthermore, she is depicted as a character
who is strong and fear by both her crew and civilians. Furthermore, when the main character Monkey

male character.
The appearance of Luffy and Alvida are also atypical of how females and main males are depicted on
TV. For example, leading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Edgar Degas Blue Dancers Analysis
Edgar Degas and the Ballet Dancers Although Edgar Degas preferred to describe his work as realism
rather than impressionism, he was among the most famous impressionist of the late 1800 s. Degas
body of work protrayed many aspects of Paris life such as café scenes, horse races and operas. Some
of his most notalbe portrayals was that of ballet dancers. Through his many portraits of ballet dancers
Degas was able to convey one the most important attributes of a ballerina, the ballerina ligne. Dancer
Posing for a Photographer and Blue Dancers are just two of the many portraits Degas created of ballet

depiction of the the ballerina ligne as well. Dancer Posing for a Photographer was created with oil on
canvas while Blue Dancers was created with the use of pastels on paper. A single ballerina with a
background of Parisian buildings can been seen in Dancer Posing for a Photographer . In contrast,
Blue Dancers portrays serveral ballerinas and the background is abstract. The facial features in Dancer
Posing for a Photographer are more realistic and defined through the portrayal of eyeshadow, lipstick

Chaucer s Lust
Love is one of the most beautiful things that an individual can experience. It leads people into doing
things that they would not do in their original senses. According to the dictionary, love is an intense
feeling or deep affection for someone. Even though love seems to be the best thing on earth, it can
also be the worst. When love is not not mutual, feelings can be hurt. Most people experience the
negative side of love one time or another in their lifetime. Even though society sees it as love, it can
sometimes be mistaken for lust. Someone s most dramatic time of love (or lust) is usually during their
teenage years when they are more more exposed to the things happening in this world. As hormones

Chaucer s three short poems all show people who believed then were disappointed by this feeling. The
girl in The Complaint of Venus thinks that In him is goodly kindness, wisdom, self control, far more
than any wit can devise; for good fortune has willed to advance him so far that he is the perfect
treasure of knighthood. Honor itself honors him for his nobility, and Nature withal has formed him so
well that I assure him I am his forever; for every creature praises his nobility (Chaucer 1). The man in
The Complaint of His Lady that Because I love her she slays me guiltless. Her I love best, and shall as
long as I live, better an hundred thousand times than myself, better than all the riches and created
beings of this world ( Chaucer 3). He did not have it in his mind that he would be hurt at the end. In
The Complaint Unto Pity, it is explained how having pity can lead a person to experiencing bitterness.
Pity, whom I have sought so long with sore heart and with gnawing pain that there was never in this
world a creature so woeful who did not die! To speak the truth, my purpose was to complain unto Pity
of the cruelty and tyranny of Love, who slays me for my faithfulness (Chaucer 1). One can then infer
that love always has a negative impact on someone s life. Even married people have to go through
downfalls in their relationship, whether it is cheating, neglect, or lack of

Persuasive Speech Outline On Dental Hygiene
1. Introduction
a. Attention Getter: According to a survey published by Delta Dental on the Colgate Website, nearly
seven out of ten Americans brush their teeth at least twice a day but more than 30% aren t brushing
enough. Additionally, 23% of Americans have gone two or more days without brushing their teeth.
b. Revealed Object and Credibility: This toothbrush represents the dental world as a whole. As a
student who has participated in a dental program at USC and is pursuing a career in dentistry, I believe
it s important to know about the importance of good oral health care. Engaging in poor habits of
brushing can easily lead to periodontal disease which has been linked to many chronic diseases such
as Diabetes and Alzheimer s.
c. Thesis: By learning more about the toothbrush, you will have a better understanding of the
importance of good dental hygiene and the dental culture.
d. Preview of Main Points: I will first discuss how the toothbrush is a central part of maintain good

engaging in oral health care for a long time. It wasn t until 1780, that a more modern design was made
by William Addis. This design was made from cattle bone and swine bristles. Now, toothbrushes vary
from the grip and handle to the bristles. Some are even electric. Overtime, the features and designs of

continue for life and includes people living in small towns, and rural areas as well as big cities.
Cornell Lab of Ornithology lists feeding wild birds as one of the fastest growing hobbies. People
feeding birds also get involved in other conservation activities and it s a wonderful way to introduce

Didion s Some Dreamers of the Golden Dream Essay examples
Didion s Some Dreamers of the Golden Dream
In Some Dreamers of the Golden Dream, the author Didion uses fiery imagery to parallel the San
Bernardino Valley to hell. It is a place where the
hills blaze up spontaneously, and every voice seems a scream. (p.3) Didions hellish descriptions of the
geography reflect the culture of San Bernardino
Valley. It is where the hot wind blows and the old ways do not seem relevant, where the divorce rate is
double the national average. (p.4) In this culture, the importance of the old ways, such as a long
lasting marriage, are devalued. It is a society where the dream [is] teaching the dreamers how to live,

Edward Foley, a man only looking to benefit himself, shows no respect or regard for the Lucille
Miller tragedy. Two people are killed and one person is sent to an institution for life; yet, Edward
Foley tries to utilize this opportunity to make money for himself. Another example of a depreciation of
societys principles is the scene for
Lucille Millers murder case trial. College girls camped at the courthouse all night, with stores of
graham crackers and No Cal. Also, identification disks were issued to the first forty three spectators in
line. (p.20) The trial is described not as a practice of law but as a sporting event. Just as there are hot
dog vendors at a sports game, there are stores of graham crackers and No
Cal at the trial. Also, Didions use of the word spectators suggests that the people inside the courtroom
are looking upon the trial like a sports game.
Didion later refers to the courtroom seats as the spectators section. (p.25) A sporting event is not taken
seriously. Therefore, Didions comparison of the trial to a sports game undermines the seriousness of
law and order in the San
Bernardino society. She implies that a self seeking and avaricious culture results in chaos.
Lucille Miller is a prime example of an individual affected by the narcissistic culture.. Lucille, a

Essay on Child of Rage
Child abuse casts a shadow the length of a lifetime

The documentary A Child in Rage gave me an indescribable feeling. The hardships and pain that this
little girl had to go through was completely disgusting. Because of her father s neglect, they made this
little girls life a living hell. Attachment disorder is the result of a bonding process that occurs between
a child and caregiver during the first couple years of the child s life. From the view of Mary

All she wanted to do was kill him the animals and her parents. She didn t like people and didn t want
to be around people. Everyone uses defense mechanisms to cope with whatever is going on in their
personal lives. Why do we use them? To protect ourselves and cover up bad feelings we are having. In
this case, I don t feel like Beth used defense mechanisms. In my opinion, when Beth was doing his
mischief it was because of the things her birth father was doing to her. So if she did use a defense
mechanism I would say she used displacement. She took her anger out on the animals, her little
brother and her parents. She knew she had an upper hand on her brother because she was older and
she most likely was bigger than her animals. In the case of her parents, she would hurt them while

the first step was to temporarily take her out of the home with her brother and adoptive parents. She

2 December 2013
I. Introduction
Klebsiella pneumoniae is a gram negative bacillus enterobacterium coliform. Klebsiella pneumoniae
is a bacterium which is normally found in the human body, but several pathogenic strains cause
infections in the human body. It is a nosocomial bacterium which is resistant to many common
antibiotics. The antibiotic resistant strains are most common and cause the most concern. These strains
are easily spread throughout extended stay hospital patients and to those in community settings with
underlying diseases. Klebsiella pneumoniae is the fourth most common cause of pneumonia in ICU
patients. Research is currently focused on creating new antibiotics to which Klebsiella pneumoniae is
susceptible. Klebsiella pneumoniae is found in several different countries around the world.
II. Structure and Physiology
The morphology of Klebsiella pneumoniae is a bacillus shaped bacterium, which means it looks like a
rod. This bacterium is also a non motile and Gram negative. This means that wherever the bacterium
was inoculated into an agar, it only grew in that spot and did not grow outwards. Being gram negative
means that the bacterium has a thin layer of peptidoglycan and stains red during the Gram staining
process. Klebsiella pneumoniae is an encapsulated bacterium, where the capsule

Reflection On Civic Mirror
Civic Mirror Final Reflection Assignment 1) After playing Civic Mirror for three years, I learned
lessons that I never would have imagined of learning in grade 10 civics. The most important thing I
discovered was the significance of participating and posessing initiative in order to be a successful
member of society. During the first year, I did not make many trades as I had little money, was too
nervous to raise my concerns in Town Hall and did not find it important to sue anyone in National
Court. Along with preventing me from obtaining a high score, not participating restricted me from
enjoying myself in Civic Mirror like others did. However, once I increased my participation and took
the initiative to trade, I found that my grade in Civic Mirror increased, I looked forward to come to
class and I spoke with people whom I had never talked to before. Secondly, Civic Mirror helped me
realize the necessity of having a source of income in order to be a prosperous citizen. During the
auction, I did not buy a hex as I had very little money and could not afford it. Although the money I
had originally been given sufficed me for the first year, the lack of money made it very difficult to
fulfill my family s needs for the next two years. This experience allowed me to understand that when I
grow up and become a self sufficient member of society, it is extremely important that I have a secure
source of income. Along with helping me fulfill my needs, the money that I

Patents And The Patent Act Of 1952
Patents Patents are government granted, temporary rights to exclude, awarded in return for an
individual s disclosure of a new useful invention. Patents are granted by the USPTO and last for
nonrenewable term of 20 years (Ferrera et al, 2012). Patents grant exclusive rights to exclude others
from engaging in making, using, selling of patent products (O reilly, 2007). Online businesses must be
aware of other s patent rights even if they do not copy other companies business methods or
technologies. XYZ Technologies must perform adequate research before developing and promoting
any new software products. Business may search both issued patents and published application at the
USPTO website as well as via Google s patent search tool (Ferrera et al., 2012).
According to the Patent Act of 1952, patent may only be granted for inventions that are within the
scope of patentable subject matter, useful, new, nonobvious and enabled (Ferrera et al., 2012). There
are subject matters that are not patentable such as laws of nature, physical phenomena and abstract
ideas. To be considered new, at least the person pursuing the patent be the person who invented it and
must not have copied it from others (Ferrera, et al., 2012). To check novelty, prior art is review. Prior

Factors Affecting The Health And Social Care Services
The key factors that drive change in health and social care services are mostly known through SWOT
and PEST analysis. PEST is an acronym for political, economic, social and technology. PEST analysis
investigates the important factors that are affecting the industry and influencing the companies
operating in the health and social care. PEST analyses are external factors and when legal and
environment are added it becomes PESTLE analyses.
SWOT analyses at the other hand are internal factors. SWOT is an acronym for strength, weakness,
opportunity and threat. All the internal factors such as structure, skills, staff, systems, and shared
values need to be considered in the change. The above mentioned internal factors are really important
to the Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Trust (RUH).
Political factors including factors like government policies and legislation drive change in the health
and social care sector. The political factors are known to have influence on the structure of the
organization, the professional practice, the distribution of services and the quality of services. An
example of a recent government policy on the NHS, is the introduction of charges to overseas patients
introduced by the British government led by the Tory party. Which makes it illegal for the NHS to see
overseas patients free of charge.
Economic factors include the consumer expenditure and disposal of income; unemployment and

Thesis Statement Of Career Motivation

Because of the nature of the construction industry, it was not surprising that most respondents were

offer unbiased feedbacks on the survey. As may be seen from Tables 3 through 5, the motivational
factor of programme choice selection is attributable by five constructs. Two of the five sub hypotheses
were substantiated in hypothesis 1. A positive relationship is found between career motivation factor
and satisfaction with choice is not unexpected. This is because serious shortfall may exist if there is a
mismatch between the learning satisfactions with career motivation. The consequence is truancy, poor
grade and dropout, in turn, the lower satisfaction with the decision made. Career motivation is very
critical for most people or graduate. For a prospective student, career motivations involve the

Developing character is something that comes with time. I believe that there are three major things
that effect how people develop their character where they are from, which includes their financial
status; how they are raised; and the character of the people that have had the most influence on their

infrequently throughout the story, do not seem to have too much involvement with their daughter. This

inappropriate to blame her solely for her mistakes. It is impossible for any child to understand what is

Dividend Announcements and Share Prices
Dividend announcements and their impact on share prices can be explained by the semi strong form of
the efficient market hypothesis (EMH). Efficient market hypothesis implies that the only thing that
may impact the stock prices is new information, since all other possibly influencing parameters are
already included in the firm s stock price (Palan, 2004).The efficient market hypothesis may be
divided into three forms: the weak form, the semi strong form, and the strong form. The weak form
implies that share prices bear or reflect the past prices and trade volume information, the semi strong
form adds publicly available information to the weak form, and the strong form adds even insider
information to the efficiency approach (Harder, 2008).
Empirical evidences show that successive changes in stock prices are independent and this
independence is in line with the efficient market hypothesis, as markets promptly react to the new

convey particular positive information about the company and provide signals about future
performance of the firm. The decision about paying dividends is made by the firm s managers and
often supported by shareholders voting. Since dividend announcements bear useful information, from

Essay On Pluralism
1. The Pluralism Project is all about educated the population of American about their diversities
through research and public engagement. The hope that by doing this they will reach a more pluralistic
population in the United States. I find how the describe pluralism to be very interesting. They focus
less on rather or not a population is diverse, but more on how understanding and accommodating that
population is to the people you are more diverse. I think it was important for me to understand this
right away when I got onto their website so that I could further understand what they were trying to
achieve. It is amazing how much news this website has on religion that I didn t even know about. The
story about the ultra orthodox Jewish man stabbing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reading the timeline of Judaism made me aware of how many times just outside of the Holocaust they
were discriminated against. I have a very limited knowledge of Jewish history and I never understood
how the discrimination they faced during the Holocaust came about. It is very clear to me know that it
came from a deep seeding of hatred that started long before World War 2. Reading Kabbalah Hasidism
really showed me the effect Judaism has had on the rest on the world. How their traditions have turned
into the traditions of other countries. It is interesting to see in the reading A Hasidic Tish how much
they still today come back to tradition. In modern Christianity, traditions have been changed to match
today s culture. I think it is very interesting to see religious groups like ultra orthodox Jews still
maintain the traditions exactly they way they did when they first arrived in the United States. The
Diaspora Community is almost hard for me to comprehend just due to the fact that I couldn t imagine
being an exile from a town because of my religion. The Jewish people, time and time again, have been
punished for believing and practicing the way they do. I find it empowering the strength that Jewish
leaders must have to keep their people s faith alive. Bar or bat mitzvah is probably the most known
tradition of the Jewish faith. I see it talked about all the time on popular media outlets and before
reading this passage I had a pretty good understanding that it was when a

Aiom Annual Report
In the summer of 1951, Mr Cecil Birtcher, one of the AIUMS founders; gathered 24 physicians
attending the American Congress of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Denver, Colorado, who
found a common interest in the validity of ultrasonic energy as a medical tool. Birtcher encouraged
this group of ultrasound pioneers and provided them with ultrasonic instruments with which to
conduct research and carry out experiments. In the summer of 1952 in New York Dr Disraeli Kobak
AIUMs first president and Mr Birtcher managed the first annual meeting. This group of pioneers
evolved into the American Institute of Ultrasound in medicine. At the AIUM s 1955 meeting in

Niels Bohr Accomplishments
Niels Bohr has proven to be one of the most successful chemists throughout history; furthermore,
Bohr has many awards as well as accommodations to the world of chemistry. Bohr, along with his
younger brother, grew up in a genius environment due to his father s profession in physics. While
growing up in a education packed home, his father s profession awakens a potential career ideal for
Bohr. Soon after graduating from Gammelholm Grammar School in 1903, he enrolls at Copenhagen
University. While attending Copenhagen, he earns a degree in Physics under Professor C. Christiansen
in 1909, as well as obtains his doctorate two years later. Not only does Bohr try to follow in his father
s footsteps as a physicist, he begins to learn more as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bohr s model, sometimes referred to as the planetary model, was able to provide explanation for
concepts that were previously indescribable. Working off Rutherford s previous work, Bohr was able
to successfully explain the spectrum of the hydrogen atom. While Rutherford s model focused mainly
on the nucleus, Bohr paid greater attention to electrons. The previous model of the atom stated an
electron was an orbiting planet. The problem in this flawed model was that the electron, moving in a
circular path, would be accelerating. Acceleration would create a change in magnetic field, which
would in turn carry energy away from the nucleus. The electron would eventually slow and be
captured by the nucleus. Bohr s model expanded upon Rutherford s and solved many flaws of the
previous model The Bohr Diagram, ). Bohr discovered that the atom consisted of a small, positive
nucleus, with negatively charged electrons traveling around it due to the electrostatic force of coulomb
s law. (Matthews 2010). Bohr stated that electrons travel only in successively larger orbits. The outer
orbits hold more electrons that the inner ones and it s the outer orbits that determine the atom s
chemical properties. Although Bohr s model eliminated many problems of earlier renderings, it was
not without its own flaws. Bohr s model violated the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle because it
states that electrons have both a known orbit

The Rise Of The Scientific Revolution
The Scientific Revolution made a greater impact on western history then the Enlightenment because
of two main reasons, the printing press and the scientific method. First off, the printing press changed
society in many ways, from the enlightenment to present day. The printing press spread around the
new beliefs and ideas of the enlightenment, for example, many books like Dialogue Concerning the
Two Chief World Systems , Starry Messenger , and On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Bodies
became accessible due to the invention of the press. These ideas became known to many, and people
started to think for their own and create their own beliefs, with logic and doubt to ancient ideas such
as church teachings. To further prove the impact of

The Importance Of Education In English Education
English Language Learners: Considerations for the Planning and Implementation of Reading and
Language Arts Instruction in a bilingual (Spanish/English) Setting
A great discussion between a former professors, reiterated me of the importance of keeping up with
current trends which continue to support the natural way we learn every day. The area of language arts
continues to experience changes with the growth in bilingual education. Children in our classroom
continue to grow by listening, speaking, reading and writing. Professionals diligently guided many of
us prekindergarten through fifth grade teachers at North Bridge Elementary in a programs utilized to
continue to contribute to the development of language arts in the early childhood of many youngsters
in South Texas. My first summer of in service in 2007, I was encouraged to obtain hours or credit in
the area of special needs, gifted and talented training, and recalled bilingual students being part of this
population, one would serve for many years to come. Not realizing this would lead to a commitment
in my part to a program I used in many ways, Balanced Literacy, not to only service gifted and
talented children, but mostly for my recent immigrant students as well. Like most programs, or
curriculums, it entailed many hours, man power, setbacks and ultimately, achievements. I, along with
many other elementary teachers, struggled to make this a resource which, if given time and
consistency, guided our students to

The Destruction of the Bison Essay example
Andrew Isenberg said that the destruction of the bison was not merely the result of human agency but
the consequence of the interaction of human society with a dynamic environment. Humans and nature
both played a large role in the ultimate demise of the bison.
Bison have been around for 10,000 years. Their ancestors where known as giant bison and they were
hunted by the paleoindians that came over on the Bering Strait. The giant bison however became
extinct because the paleoindians hunted them and at the end of the last ice age, most of the vegetation
they fed off of was destroyed. Dwarf bison, the bison that are around today, survived the ice age
because the dwarf bison were faster, reproduced more rapidly and required less ... Show more content

Horses worked their way across the plains during the 1700 1750 s which made most tribes into
equestrian nomads rather than semi sedentary nomads. The increase of intertribal trade was a new
form of ecological safety net: the Indians depended on trade rather than their own labor to ensure
diversity of resources (Isenberg 47) because they only hunted for bison now.
The nomads started trading with the euroamericans; they could trade bison skins for alcohol, small
tools, knifes needles, guns and horses. This became known as the fur trade, which made the nomads
specialize in hunting. These were all things that made the nomads lives easier; they would hunt more
bison so they could trade for the goods. Trading goods made the nomads lives easier but it also
exposed them to European diseases, such as small pox, which wiped out large numbers of their tribes.
They had to rely on bison to sustain themselves, in a time when they didn t have enough people left to
maintain a village properly. This was when the bison s population took one of its initial declines
because they were now being commercially exploited.
Bison fed on grasses in the Great Plains, grasses were at their peak in the summer time when they
grew the most. The taller the grass the more carbohydrates they possessed, so that is when bison
gathered in large groups to eat the grasses and mate. Autumn was also the most dry period of the

Space Exploration Argumentative Essay
In 1969, the iconic first steps on the moon drew in 500 million people who watched from their
television screens. Since then, two thirds of Americans say they are interested in space exploration.
What is stopping NASA and other space programs from feeding into Americans interests? Many argue
that space exploration is vital to our society and one day the human race in its entirety will have no
option but to leave Earth in search of a new planet. Others insist the space programs in America have
created some of the world s most useful inventions, ranging from CT scanners to digital cameras to
firefighting equipment; these inventions supposedly prove space exploration s worth. While these
statements may have some truth to them, there are multiple setbacks that make space exploration
difficult for American space programs to accomplish, and, in the end, not worth it at least for now.
One of the most significant issues is the cost. According to Washington Post, funding for space
exploration in America is at an all time low of one half percent, reduced from four percent of America
s government spending. With this low percentage of government investment, the costs that are
required to send ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In reality, the impact of space exploration on humans is as much a mystery as what could be
discovered. Until scientists conduct more research, it s not safe enough for humans to travel further
into the cosmos. For now, there are too many variables involved that make space exploration not
worth the time, effort, and money. Once scientists have obtained enough information regarding cosmic
exploration, it s certain that the American people will be forever affected. As Ron Garan once stated,
Earth is a small town with many neighborhoods in a very big universe. Maybe one day humanity can
expand itself into the unknown of our universe, but for now, it s best that we stick to our small

The American Bald Eagle Essay
I chose the American bald eagle because it is one of the
fastest and strongest species of eagles. It is the national
symbol. The Congress adopted it as the national symbol in
1782. I think it was adopted as the national bird of the
United States because the Roman soldiers used the eagle
as a symbol of courage and power. In the early 1800 s,
Americans called the Bald Eagle, the American eagle. Here
is some of the biology of the Bald Eagle. Bald Eagles do a
very good job at their part in the food web. Bald eagles
also have an interesting name. The scientific name for bald
eagles is Haliaeetus leucocephalus. The family order is
accipitridae and falconiformes. The young of bald eagles
are called eaglets or eyasses. Bald eagles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bald eagles live only in the United States and Mexico.
Bald eagles will only live near lakes and rivers. A bald
eagle s nest is about 70 feet above the ground in tall pines
or deciduous trees. Nests are almost 7 feet wide and five
feet deep. The territory of a Bald Eagle has a carrying
capacity of 10 to 40 square miles, per eagle. Eagles will
live in cold, warm and light temperatures. Bald eagles will
eat just about anything; they have a large range in their
predator/prey role. An eagle s diet consists of fish, rodents,
small snakes, and small game birds. It will also steal food
from other species of small birds or other eagles, including
its own kind! Sometimes it will even kill a bird to get food.
It will also eat carrion, food that was already killed, which
means it is sometimes a decomposer. Bald eagles have
interesting ways of protecting themselves. Bald eagles have
oil inside of their feathers to protect themselves from rain or
snow. Bald eagles also have special feathers that will
insulate them in the winter. A female eagle will outstretch its
wings over the young to form a portable shelter. Once,
several students went up to the Quabbin Reservoir, found
an active eagles nest, tore it apart and found 60 cat collars.
Bald eagles were at homeostasis until they were put on the
endangered species list from the 1950s up until the early
1980 s. Ever since, federal law has protected bald eagles

I only go out and eat when there are any special occasions. The last time I went out eating was with my boyfriend on our first anniversary. We went to The Cheesecake Factory which is also on of my favorite places to dine in. The Cheesecake Factory is very familiar with everyone now. This place is famous for their cheesecakes as well as the diversity of food to choose from. The Cheesecake Factory was established in the 1940s by Oscar and Evelyn Overton. Mrs. Overton personally made baked cheesecakes in the basement of their home for the best local restaurants. In 1972 they moved their business to Los Angeles, California where they ... The Cheesecake Factory s mission statement and more specific policies about conduct to give employees, partners, vendors, and outsiders an idea of what the corporation stands for and how it s staff should conduct themselves. Key areas that are of significant importance to The Cheesecake Factory start with the general standards of conduct in how all its employees will be treated by fellow employees and by management. The standards deals the basic values that we all have, with the expectation of building trust, loyalty, honesty, respect, and a high level of professionalism within the company. This will create a positive working environment that will uplift the attitudes and morale of its employees and depending on what your position is could increase productivity and customer relations. All jobs have a certain amount stress related to it, but having those basic codes of the takes away a lot the negative personal stress that can arrive on the job. In conclusion, I still consider The Cheesecake Factory is my favorite place to eat. Even though I had a bad experience there once, I think that they can improve it better. ... Adequate To Recognize A Person Essay A Second is Adequate to Recognize a Person It is a powerful saying that one s company has a strong impact on one, for it can have a huge influence on how one thinks, feels, or perhaps behaves. Therefore, it could be inferred that the culture that one hangs out in becomes one s persona. Along those sixteen years, I have bumped into many people, many friends, and many influential personalities, thus I can tell for a fact that I have grasped something from each human being. Only after, I have analyzed them as having a negative or a positive impact on me. Since Rimsha attended a coed school, and her friends circle consisted of mostly rich girls, she was always into getting the best accessories according to the latest fashions. I vividly remember the time when our extended family was getting ready to attend a reception, and I was specifically tieing my headscarf, when Rimsha remarked, You are going to wear the headscarf to a wedding as well? At that moment, I was literally speechless not only because I was told something negative about my appearance, but because Rimsha ,pursuing the same religion as me, made such an objection. • 6. Light In The Painted Door In The Painted Door by Sinclair Ross, it is evident that light is used to illustrate the degradation of Ann s devotion to John as the night approaches and the time spent with Steven, due to John s absence, lengthens. This is first demonstrated when the setting of a landscape with bitter light (1) is established. Despite the bitterness, caused by Ann and John s non communicative relationship, the light exemplifies that Ann retains a secure devotion towards John and is confident that he will return home no matter what circumstances. In addition, we notice the significance of light in Ann and John s relationship when Steven arrives and Ann [lets] him in and [lights] the lamp (6). During her moment of uncertainty, Ann believes that if Steven is able to travel and persist through the storm then John will be capable as well. • 7. Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood The concern about the condition of the world today is an ever present debatable issue in our current society. In the science fiction novel Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood, the author as put by Jayne Glover in critical analysis Human/Nature: Ecological Philosophy in Margaret Atwood s Oryx and Crake , Atwood speculates on what the near future may be like considering the realities of contemporary environmental, social and political issues (Glover 50). Atwood s novel specifically focuses on the question: when will the line be drawn? She emphasizes dystopian ideals by painting a grim picture of a futuristic society that extends many of the scientific capabilities available today to a probable future state of existence. Additionally Atwood portrays a society that is consistent with a godless and soulless people that would logically evolve if all current standards of morality were abandoned. In Oryx and Crake, Atwood uses society s obsessive need for immortality to demonstrate the dystopian idea of the loss of sacredness of life. Atwood demonstrates this theme through the use of symbolism and biblical allusions. Atwood uses the theme of immortality to show how the need to always be young and to never die is a dystopian ideal. There are many different types of Euthanasia and all are currently illegal in the United States with the exception of the state of Oregon. When a patient is being Euthanized they can be given an injection intravenously which causes their death this is called Euthanasia by action. A person could also be assisted to death through euthanasia by omission; this is when the patient is not provided with the appropriate things such as food or water. Also patients can be given a medication that renders them into a deep sleep in which they are left to die, either through the progression of their illness or through starvation. The most important aspect of doctor assisted suicide is whether it is voluntary, involuntary or non voluntary. The difference between non voluntary and involuntary is that non voluntary is when the patient does not request to be euthanized but they are. Involuntary euthanization is when a person specifically asks that they not be euthanized and they are. Although euthanasia is illegal some forms of it are still regularly practiced in today s healthcare system. Euthanasia dates back to as early as 1828 when the first law was written to outlaw anyone from providing a person with a dangerous weapon and or a harmful chemical that would knowingly be used in the taking of a person s own life. This would include taking the life of another person with their permission. In 1920 the book Permitting the Destruction of Life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To help this vision become a reality Prophet looked to his brother, Tecumseh. (Edmunds) Tecumseh was a very powerful speaker and a well respected warrior. From the time he was very young it was obvious he would be a very highly skilled hunter, leader and warrior. The two used his image amongst the native in order influence them to join the fight. • 10. Web Architecture And Components That Enable Internet And... Unit 28 Website Production Assignment 1 Alex Aricci 2nd October 2014 P1 Introduction The purpose of this report is to outline the web architecture and components that enable internet and web functionality. Internet Service Providers (ISP) ISPs are the companies which own or rent the infrastructure which provides internet access to its customers for a fee. ISPs often offer different services at different price points with more expensive ones often having higher bandwidth and download limits (or no download limits at all) as well as sometimes providing phone and digital TV services (for instance, Sky, Virgin, BT) although available services vary locally due to differences in infrastructure. Web Hosting Services Web hosting services provide space and bandwidth on the internet for people to make their websites available online. When a web page is requested the web host sends a web page to someone trying to access it via a server. Domain Structure The Domain Name system is a system on the internet used to translate IP addresses (long string of numbers that describe the location of a resource on the internet) into recognisable names, this makes it easier for humans to navigate the internet as it is much easier to remember the name of a website than to remember its I.P. address. It is a hierarchical system that points users to various resources, computers or services on the internet, such as images or videos. Domain Name Registrars Domain Name Registrars allow ... Characteristics of both of these types of hero archetypes shape Victor by depicting him as a victim, despite the fact that he created the monster, and these characteristics shape the themes of the novel. Victor has characteristics of a Byronic hero, which shapes his character and the themes. A Byronic hero is a melancholy and rebellious young man, distressed by a terrible wrong he committed in the past (The Definition of Byronic Hero). Theses qualities portray Victor as the victim and innocent, which is ironic since he created the monster which caused all the destruction and terror. Victor portraying himself as a victim caused all of the tragedies to occur fairly quickly, because he could have gone to authorities earlier and they might have treated him differently. The victim act brings up the complexity of the relationship between Victor and the creature; since he created the monster he should be in control of the relationship, yet the monster is in control and powerful since Victor is innocent. Victor is not a victim of the creature, but a victim of fate and free will, yet Victor refuses to believe that he had any decision in this matter and blames it all on fate. These qualities also call attention to the theme of parenting since the creature upsets Victor and he refuses to take care of it and how the lack of parental influence can cause somebody to make bad decisions. This again brings attention to the paradoxical relationship between the creature and Frankenstein, since the creature is more powerful than the creator. Byronic and tragic hero characteristics combine in Frankenstein because Victor is a melancholic man who made a error in the past which causes his downfall. The combination of these two type of heroes allows Victor to be a victim and brings in the theme of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Sleep Disorders And Sleep Disorder Every single person in the world sleeps, but why or what exactly makes us sleep? This is a very good question because everyone does it without actually thinking about it. Knowing or even trying to understand how one sleeps can be a very interesting topic to dissect. This also gives researchers a wide area of study for collecting data and then interpreting that data for doctors to help patients. It is important to learn and study sleep, especially if one has one or more sleeping disorder(s). We can study that behavior and find ways to remedy or even cure whichever sleep disorder(s) you may have. Not getting adequate sleep can cause many everyday tasks to be rather difficult to accomplish and also even make every day learning and remembering more difficult. Not only remembering during the day, but also remembering when you are sleeping. You may be asking, remembering when you sleep? Well, when you get an insufficient amount of sleep you become more prone to sleep disorders such as parasomnia and obstructive sleep apnea. Sleep is a topic that many neuropsychologists would like to study in order to better understand the body in its state of rest and even find how sleep is related to crime and in more appalling cases, murder. First, why do we sleep? Sleep is a very complex and sometimes a very hard to understand matter of human life. We all know that sleep is a necessity and if we don t get an adequate amount then things start to deteriorate in our mind and body. Thomas Edison ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Regular Season Cavs Case Study Regular Season Cavs The Cleveland Cavaliers that swept the top seeded Toronto Raptors out of the postseason in dominant fashion looked completely different from the Cavs team that eked out 50 wins in the regular season. And with good reason: The bulk of Cleveland s postseason minutes have gone to, quite literally, a different team. Through the first two rounds of the playoffs, the Cavaliers have leaned heavily on a five man lineup that had never shared the court before. In the team s series against the Pacers and Raptors, Cleveland s most used lineup has been George Hill, J.R. Smith, Kyle Korver, LeBron James and Kevin Love. So far this postseason, they ve logged 110 minutes together. That s 110 more than they played together in the regular ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although, all of her first grade class is illiterate, Scout is capable of reading books past Ms. Caroline s expectations. I suppose she chose me because she knew my name; as I read the alphabet a faint line appeared between her eyebrows, and after making me read most of My First Reader and the stock market quotations from The Mobile Register aloud, she discovered that I was literate and looked at me with more than faint distaste. Miss Caroline told me to tell my father not to teach me anymore, it would interfere with my reading. (Page 22, Paragraph 4) 4. In fourth grade, a girl my class often bullied me for what seemed to have no logical reason. After getting to know her better and asking her why she often bullied everyone, I realized the struggles she was experiencing and understood why she answered that way out of jealousy. 5. Walter Cunningham and Burris Ewell both come from poor American, white families. Within the community, people don t regard them with high respect within the community. However, Walter Cunningham is respectful to those around him and Burris Ewell is disrespectful to those around him. One example that shows how Burris Ewell is disrespectful is when he responds in a rude way to Ms. Caroline when told to wash his hair, come to school, bathed the next day. Moreover, when Ms. Caroline tells him to sit in his seat he snorts and taunts her. She consequently cries and threatens to report his behavior to the principal since he seems problematic. An example showing that Walter Cunningham is respectful is when Walter Cunningham and Atticus talked together like two men when they talked about farming and how he could pass first grade since he must help his father who is a poor farmer. 6. Dividend Policy and Share Prices Introduction In this paper the impact of dividend policy of the companies on the firm s share prices is analysed and different views in the context of the semi strong form of the efficient market hypothesis are contrasted. The overview of the traditional and most recent empirical investigations of the stock market reaction to the dividend announcements is provided and different findings are discussed and compared. Three companies have been selected from the FTSE All share price index. These companies are Tesco, Burberry and Vodafone. These firms belong to different sectors of the economy. Tesco is the largest retailer in the UK, Burberry is a fashion firm and Vodafone is the telecommunication services company. The dividends and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dividend Announcements and Share Prices Dividend announcements and their impact on share prices can be explained by the semi strong form of the efficient market hypothesis (EMH). Efficient market hypothesis implies that the only thing that may impact the stock prices is new information, since all other possibly influencing parameters are already included in the firm s stock price (Palan, 2004).The efficient market hypothesis may be divided into three forms: the weak form, the semi strong form, and the strong form. The weak form implies that share prices bear or reflect the past prices and trade volume information, the semi strong form adds publicly available information to the weak form, and the strong form adds even insider information to the efficiency approach (Harder, 2008). Empirical evidences show that successive changes in stock prices are independent and this independence is in line with the efficient market hypothesis, as markets promptly react to the new information (Fama et al., 1969). In this context it may be assumed that dividend announcements convey particular positive information about the company and provide signals about future performance of the firm. The decision about paying dividends is made by the firm s managers and often supported by shareholders voting. Since dividend announcements bear useful information, from the efficient market hypothesis view point this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reading the timeline of Judaism made me aware of how many times just outside of the Holocaust they were discriminated against. I have a very limited knowledge of Jewish history and I never understood how the discrimination they faced during the Holocaust came about. It is very clear to me know that it came from a deep seeding of hatred that started long before World War 2. Reading Kabbalah Hasidism really showed me the effect Judaism has had on the rest on the world. How their traditions have turned into the traditions of other countries. It is interesting to see in the reading A Hasidic Tish how much they still today come back to tradition. In modern Christianity, traditions have been changed to match today s culture. I think it is very interesting to see religious groups like ultra orthodox Jews still maintain the traditions exactly they way they did when they first arrived in the United States. The Diaspora Community is almost hard for me to comprehend just due to the fact that I couldn t imagine being an exile from a town because of my religion. The Jewish people, time and time again, have been punished for believing and practicing the way they do. I find it empowering the strength that Jewish leaders must have to keep their people s faith alive. Bar or bat mitzvah is probably the most known tradition of the Jewish faith. Working off Rutherford s previous work, Bohr was able to successfully explain the spectrum of the hydrogen atom. While Rutherford s model focused mainly on the nucleus, Bohr paid greater attention to electrons. The previous model of the atom stated an electron was an orbiting planet. The problem in this flawed model was that the electron, moving in a circular path, would be accelerating. Acceleration would create a change in magnetic field, which would in turn carry energy away from the nucleus. The electron would eventually slow and be captured by the nucleus. Bohr s model expanded upon Rutherford s and solved many flaws of the previous model The Bohr Diagram, ). Bohr discovered that the atom consisted of a small, positive nucleus, with negatively charged electrons traveling around it due to the electrostatic force of coulomb s law. (Matthews 2010). Bohr stated that electrons travel only in successively larger orbits. The outer orbits hold more electrons that the inner ones and it s the outer orbits that determine the atom s chemical properties. Although Bohr s model eliminated many problems of earlier renderings, it was not without its own flaws. Bohr s model violated the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle because it states that electrons have both a known orbit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. The Destruction of the Bison Essay example Andrew Isenberg said that the destruction of the bison was not merely the result of human agency but the consequence of the interaction of human society with a dynamic environment. Humans and nature both played a large role in the ultimate demise of the bison. Bison have been around for 10,000 years. Their ancestors where known as giant bison and they were hunted by the paleoindians that came over on the Bering Strait. The giant bison however became extinct because the paleoindians hunted them and at the end of the last ice age, most of the vegetation they fed off of was destroyed. Horses worked their way across the plains during the 1700 1750 s which made most tribes into equestrian nomads rather than semi sedentary nomads. The increase of intertribal trade was a new form of ecological safety net: the Indians depended on trade rather than their own labor to ensure diversity of resources (Isenberg 47) because they only hunted for bison now. The nomads started trading with the euroamericans; they could trade bison skins for alcohol, small tools, knifes needles, guns and horses. This became known as the fur trade, which made the nomads specialize in hunting. These were all things that made the nomads lives easier; they would hunt more bison so they could trade for the goods. Trading goods made the nomads lives easier but it also exposed them to European diseases, such as small pox, which wiped out large numbers of their tribes. They had to rely on bison to sustain themselves, in a time when they didn t have enough people left to maintain a village properly. This was when the bison s population took one of its initial declines because they were now being commercially exploited. Bison fed on grasses in the Great Plains, grasses were at their peak in the summer time when they grew the most. The taller the grass the more carbohydrates they possessed, so that is when bison gathered in large groups to eat the grasses and mate. Autumn was also the most dry period of the ... • 46. Space Exploration Argumentative Essay In 1969, the iconic first steps on the moon drew in 500 million people who watched from their television screens. Since then, two thirds of Americans say they are interested in space exploration. What is stopping NASA and other space programs from feeding into Americans interests? Many argue that space exploration is vital to our society and one day the human race in its entirety will have no option but to leave Earth in search of a new planet. Others insist the space programs in America have created some of the world s most useful inventions, ranging from CT scanners to digital cameras to firefighting equipment; these inventions supposedly prove space exploration s worth. While these statements may have some truth to them, there are multiple setbacks that make space exploration difficult for American space programs to accomplish, and, in the end, not worth it at least for now. One of the most significant issues is the cost. According to Washington Post, funding for space exploration in America is at an all time low of one half percent, reduced from four percent of America s government spending.
