Lord Of The Flies Fire Symbolism Essay
Don t play with fire. Fire is unpredictable, uncontainable, and its results are everlasting. Nonetheless,
fireplaces, campfires, and birthday candles, rouse the fascination of children and adults because it is
the universal symbol of spirit. Unlike conventional symbols, fire has an intrinsic relationship with the
spirit it represents. A fire radiates heat and light to create an impression of power and liveliness. The
vivacious flames are always dancing in different patterns, but maintain a degree of constancy. In the
Lord of the Flies, fire is a prominent symbol of Ralph s hopeful spirit throughout the series of events
on the island. Fire s recurring appearances throughout the novels demonstrates that there is always
hope in all situations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows that Ralph s hopes may not be as high, but the fire along with hope still exists.
Savagery is a threat to hope, but does not cause hope to die out. Despite fire s recurring presence, the
fire burns out when the hunters desert their duty to tend the fire and hunt a pig instead. When Ralph
discovers that Jack and his hunters neglect the fire, Jack provides a feeble excuse. [Ralph to Jack] You
let the fire go out. [...] [Jack insists] You should have seen the blood! (Golding 70) When the hunters
choose to hunt instead of tending the fire, it represents a descent from the original orderly civilization
into savagery. In this scene, Golding hints that savagery threatens Ralph s hopeful mindset for a
civilized tribe, but savagery does not kill hope. By the end of the book, all of the boys become hunters
who are regarded as savages , murder Ralph s faithful comrade Piggy, and steal the spectacles along
with the fire; Ralph seems to be at rock bottom. Ralph has no one to turn to, nowhere to stay, and no
plan for the future as he scrambles to escape a hunt, all the while, unable to see hope in his situation.
The narrator speaks, The best thing to do was to ignore this laden feeling about the heart, [...] no fire;
no smoke; no rescue, (Golding). Unfortunately for Ralph, the hunt escalates when Jack s savage forest
fire consumes the

Workers Compensation Research
Although there are many motivational reasons for working, one can safely assume that almost every
American works at a job away from home to receive money and benefits. Money yields the basic
needs of clothes, food, and shelter. Money is also used to purchase transportation, insurance, health
care, education, retirement, and entertainment. Given that a worker s job is a vital means to secure the
necessities of life, it is essential that the worker or the worker s family is compensated when a job
related injury, illness, or death occurs. Government legislation requires employers to provide a
reasonable safe place to work and holds most of them responsible for work related injuries, illnesses,
and deaths ( ). By definition, workers compensation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet, due to the wording and interpreting of the contributory negligence and the assumption of risk
rules, the injured worker was usually found as the cause of the accident and the employer held not
responsible (Goetsch, 2011). Nevertheless, during the Industrial Revolution, thousands of unskilled
laborers continued to work on the railroads, in the mines, and with high speed machines in the
factories where accidents were occurring at an alarming rate (Clark, 2012). Even though most injured
workers did not seek compensation through civil lawsuits, the court system still could not handle the
increasing number of cases. The cost and time spent on these cases became a burden to not only the
employees but also to the employers (Clark,

Male And Female Roles In The 1800 s
Male and female roles have been changing as time goes on over the years. Women have fought to
have the same rights as men do. Men have always been dominant over women, for instance women
have fought for rights such as voting and being able to work in the same workforce as men do. Men
used to believe women should stay at home and not go to work, but instead they should do household
chores such as cleaning, cooking, and tending to the children. Male and female roles have changed
dramatically over time. In the 1800 s women stayed at home and done the cleaning, cooking, and
tended to the children while the husband took care of the harder chores around the house. The male
would normally go out and feed the livestock, tend to broken stuff around

Nuclear Weapons and Their Linkage with Physics
Nuclear Weapons and their Linkage with Physics
The functioning of nuclear weapons requires understanding the underlying physics beginning with the
structure of the atom. The nucleus of the atom consists of electrically neutral particles called neutrons
and positively charged particles called protons. The no. of protons equals the no. of electrons
rendering the atom electrically neutral. The nucleus of the radioactive particle U 235 has 92 protons
and 143 neutrons and heavier atoms have larger excess of neutron over protons compared to lighter
ones. The protons and neutrons in the nuclei are composed together through powerful nuclear forces
that are stronger compared to any other force which act between them like gravity. Atoms are bound
together to form molecules. These atoms are composed together by chemical bonding that form due to
the manner in which electrons rearrange themselves within the molecule. This binding energy of a
nucleus is almost million times higher than this energy. (Philips, 2012)
Nuclear reactions happen when there is a rearrangement of the neutrons and protons of the reacting
nuclei to form the product nuclei. When the bonding energy of the reactants is less compared to the
binding energy of the products, the excess energy is thus released in the form of radiation. As the
bonding energy of nuclei is nearly a million times greater compared to the energy consumed by a
chemical bond, the energy released in nuclear reactions corresponds to about a

The Effect Of Fast Track System On Emergency Department...
Introduction In this paper I will discuss efficacy of fast track system in emergency department across
Ontario, that will influence patient satisfaction, and also identifies practices that can be used in the
Emergency Department. It also provides ways of promising strategies to help Emergency Departments
address patient satisfaction issues more effectively. Each hospital can identify critical issues and
processes and choose strategies to support local needs. By introducing the fast track process in a
hospital, it caters for the patients who have critical conditions and can be attended to within a very
short period. It ends up reducing the extensive waiting time in the emergency room and improves the
flow of the patients who come through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fast track system can be employed at various stages to check for potential outcomes and other
implementations in the healthcare industry. On the operation stage, the system can be used to analyze
the various outcomes of patient flow study. At the strategic stage, fast track system can be used to
monitor the financial gains of an organization and evaluate its commercial health. On the national
stage, it can be used to observe the government programs that address the reduction of wait time for
the patients in the ED s. At the operational stage, it aims to present a concrete analysis of an ED that
exists within a fast track system. Introducing the fast track system was meant to reduce the wait times
in the ED (Yoon, 2003). Reducing the time would allow the increase of the numbers of patients who
come in, get treated, and discharged. It ends up increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the ED.
Increasing the effectiveness and its capacity makes it possible for more patients to be examined and
treated because there is more time in the system. For example, at the Grand River Hospital, there are
several initiatives that are already in place that are targeting to reduce the staying duration of the
patient in the ED. These initiatives include having nurse practitioners in the emergency department,
having a specific fast track area, emergency medical rules that permit nurses to start on

Melting Point Range Lab Report
The first part of the experiment focused on finding the melting point range of known substances, Trans
cinnamic acid and Urea. The Trans cinnamic acid had a melting point range of 133.0 135.8℃. Urea
had a melting point range of 132.5 135.8℃. However, when a 50/50 mixture was created of the two
substances, the melting point range was 98.8 132℃, 40 degrees less than the two known substances.
This is due to an impurity of the 50/50 mixture. Each substance was acting as an impurity to the other
substance. The expected range for Trans cinnamic acid was 132 135℃ and Urea had an expected
range of 132 133℃. Trans cinnamic acid and Urea are similar compounds but lack identical structure,
causing their combined melting point range to be lower than what ... Show more content on

A ramp rate was first used to obtain the approximate melting point of the unknown before obtaining a
more accurate melting point range of the unknown substance. Based on the rapid heating rate of the
test, it was determined that the unknown substance was either Trans cinnamic acid or Benzoin due to
the wider melting point range at 132℃. After the second, slower heating rate, it was determined that
the unknown might be Benzoin due to the wider melting point range. However, when experimented
with the unknown and the Benzoin, the 50/50 mixture melted before the other 2 compounds had begun
to change states because it was acting as an impurity instead of melting at the same time. If the
unknown and the possibly known substance were the same compound, those two compounds plus the
mixture would have melted at the same time. The Trans cinnamic acid was then compared to the
unknown substance, which resulted in two compounds and the mixture melting at the same time,
which had a melting point range of 133 to 136.2℃. According to the results of the melting point
ranges given, the melting point range of Trans cinnamic acid should be 132 135℃. The experimented
results were 133 136.2℃, which are about a degree higher than what they should be, but the
compounds and the 50/50 mixture all melted at the same time, making the unknown substance Trans

Public Opinion On The Topic Of Climate Change Remains Divided
Public opinion on the topic of climate change remains divided despite over two decades worth of
research and a strong consensus in the scientific community (Deryugina and Shurchkov, 2016). In an
experimental survey, the authors tested whether providing the public with information based on
scientific agreement on the occurrence and causes of climate change would affect the respondent s
beliefs. They found that not only did the public significantly underestimate the extent of the scientific
consensus, the survey also indicated that those who were given concrete information about scientist s
views were more likely to report believing that climate change was already happening and that it was
caused by humans. Moreover, the results concluded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1). There are several natural causes which will dictate which direction and by what amount the
temperature changes. Some of these changes are more permanent, most are temporary. One natural
cause of climate change is solar irradiance, a measurement of solar power received from the sun and
measured at the Earth. Studies have shown that changes in solar irradiance have contributed to climate
trends in the past. According to National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), an example
of this is the Little Ice Age, which was a period of regionally cold conditions between 1650 to 1850,
that is thought to have been possibly triggered by a decrease in solar output from the sun. Be that as it
may, NASA also states that since 1750, the average amount of energy coming from the sun has either
remained constant or increased only slightly, therefore changes in solar irradiance cannot explain
current global warming data (2017, Solar irradiance section). Likewise, volcanism, another example
of a natural cause of climate change, is also regarded by some scientists as being the origin of the
Little Ice Age. During volcanic eruptions, tiny particles called aerosols are emitted into the
atmosphere. Once in the atmosphere, aerosols reflect solar radiation back into space which cools the
planet. In his article, Causes of Climate Change Over the Past 1000 Years , Crowley (2000) explains
that between 1400 to 1850, volcanic contribution indicated an

Communism Vs Communism
In a command economic system or communist, the government promotes the ideology of social
cohesion in which all people are viewed as equal regardless of their status or educational background.
Everyone within the system is given the same equal share of opportunities. On top of that, the
government owns everything such as the businesses and industrial productions where they have total
control of the distribution. The government provides its citizens the opportunities within the work
force to supply for their families by contributing their part in the work to benefit the profits while at
the same the citizens may suffer sanctions if they should fail to contribute on their part in which it
produces an overall direct benefit for the whole society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The society is more important and valuable than an individual s life. Under the communist society, the
citizens have no freedom to control their own life because it is controlled by the government. The
citizens would be put through harsh punishment if they should go against the government and their
ideology. With the country being under the communist ideology, most likely it would have strict
restrictions for its citizens on their freedom to think for themselves which in turn places fear in the
people; knowingly of the consequences and punishments they would incur if failed to meet the needs
of the society and government. With the fear of being placed in harsh punishments from the
government for anything; citizens will less likely wanting to report any crimes to the authorities; thus

Compare And Contrast The Renaissance Art And European Art
Compare and Contrast Essay
Compare and Contrast works of art that represent the 15th Century Early Renaissance art and 16th
Century Northern European art. The artists Masaccio and Grunewald will be used to illustrate the
differences and similarities in the styles of art. Their works of art are chosen for their interpretation of
the style that was representative during these eras. Early Renaissance artists used mathematical one
point linear perspective to create illusions of depth and depicted the human body as realistic and
natural. Northern European artist used medieval mysticism and intense emotional spirituality and they
used illustrative human figures rather than realistic depictions. By understanding the corresponding
and distinctions between these two works of art we can understand why they created their artwork in
the respective style to their era.
The first work of art is a fresco titled Trinity with the Virgin Mary, John the Evangelist, and the
Donors (Holy Trinity) by artist Masaccio during the Early Renaissance c. 1425
1427/1428. The fresco is located on the wall of the Church of Santa Maria Novella in Florence,
Italy. Brunelleschi s experiments on linear perspective and architecture had an influence on
Masaccio s art.
The second work of art is an oil painting on wood panel titled Isenheim Altarpiece by artist Grunewald
in c. 1510 1515. It was located in the chapel of the St. Anthony abbey hospital near Colmar, Germany.
The hospital treated patients with

The s Responsibility Of A Fund
In the name of Allah, the most merciful, the most beneficent.
The root word ka fa la in arabic is derived from the meaning take responsibility of . Conjugations can
be seen in Quran in several spots. In surah Ali Imran [3:37] the word is used to indicated Zakariya s
taking responsibility of Mariam. In the Islamic Finance realm, takaful has taken the meaning of
[Islamic] insurance via mutual agreement.
The concept of takaful has been practiced for over a millenia. In theory it takes the form of a
compensation fund. Contributors pay into a fund. In the event of a covered loss, the compensation
fund pays the damaged. Such compensation funds are present in the United States where consumers
deal with professional service providers, such as real estate brokers and doctors, in which part of the
required licensing fee s are placed into the compensation fund. In the event of malpractice, or fraud,
the consumer is reimbursed. Similarly funds are present in other areas as well, such as unemployment
insurance [compensation] and workplace injury [workmans compensation], in which employees pay
into such funds and are compensated in the event of unemployment or injury.
In theory, the Islamic method of takaful would take a similar form:
Potential Policyholders [PH] are grouped together under the concept of working together mutual
assistance [taawun]. The PH contribute an amount based on the type/amount of coverage required and
personal history (risk). This contribution

Character Analysis Of Antigone
The play centers around a young girl, Antigone, that is determined to bury her wronged brother even
though it will end in her imminent death. Creon, the king, has deemed it illegal for anyone to bury
Antigone s brother s body, even though it is the female family member s duty given by the gods to
perform the burial. Antigone stuck to her oath to bury her brother and is caught by Creon and
sentenced to death. One of the main themes in this play is family. Each character s ending will be
tragic due to their loyalty to their family, which is illustrated in Antigone s death because of her
unwavering loyalty to her brother and commitment to his burial. Creon s son, Haemon, shows up
briefly in the play, but has a pivotal role. Haemon is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Haemon speaks as though there is nothing more important life than to see his father prosper. In that
quote, it is very apparent that his inherent response to his father s requests were submissive. At first
glance, one may think Haemon s initial decision is based on his love for his father, however, it
becomes apparent that his decision was based on his need to honor his father by showing his loyalty to
Creon s decision. Haemon illustrates this necessity to honor his father when he says, No marriage will
ever be more important to me than justly carrying out your precepts (647 648). Haemon does not say
that he wants to follow his ruling because that is his father or because he agrees with Creon. Creon
believes that he is honoring the gods and the state by sentencing Antigone to death. Therefore,
Haemon believes that if he does not obey his father, he will be dishonoring the gods, the state, and his
own father. Haemon is not loyal to his father because he believes that loyalty is important to family.
He is loyal because intern he will be honoring the gods and the states wishes. Haemon follows Creon s
ruling because if he disobeys, his father will be judged by the people he rules over. Creon is extremely
paranoid throughout the play and believes everyone is trying to betray him, even his own family. If
Haemon were to disobey his orders,

The Harm in Low Carb Diets
Low carb diets are basically anti carbohydrates diets. Low carb diets make you eat fewer carbs than
most doctors would suggest. While the experts recommend that adults get about half of their calories
from carbs, low carb diet limits the eating of carb to10 percent of daily calories consumed. Before
going anti carb, lets know what they are. Carbs are very important nutrients in food. They are the body
s main energy source, supplying energy for everyday activities and making sure everything from your
muscles to brain is working properly. Not all carbs are nutritious. Good ones are processed and are full
of vitamins and minerals, for example: whole grain pasta and bread, veggies, and fruit. Bad ones come
from foods like white bread and sugary sweets, which are full of calories and don t have a lot of
nutritional value. There are many many low carb diets. the most popular ones include Atkins, Dukan,
Eco Atkins, Medifast, the Paelo and the South beach diet. In my opinion the Atkins diet is the most
popular because of it results: Notice that the difference of time is about 3 weeks The Atkins diet is diet
which cuts down carbohydrates and makes you focus on fats and proteins, etc.. The Atkins diet has
multiple phases for weight loss, 4 the least. Low carb diet menu You basically eat proteins and fats,

Decriminalize Marijuana for the Good of America
Decriminalize Marijuana for the Good of America Currently, drugs remain high on the lists of
concerns of Americans and are considered one of the major problems facing our country today. We see
stories on the news about people being killed on the street every day over drugs. To many people
drugs are only an inner city problem, but in reality they affect all of us users and non users. I believe
that the negative affects we associate with drugs would be greatly reduced if the United States adopted
a policy towards the total decriminalization of marijuana. The current drug policy of our government
is obviously failing. Drug laws have created corruption, violence, increased street crime, and
disrespect for the criminal justice system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If marijuana is legalized, many project that lung cancer will increase as the amount of marijuana use
increases (Miner 44). These are all valid arguments, but cigarette smoking is legal, a booming
business, and causes the same exact problems. There are a number of myths associated with the use of
marijuana and its effects on your body which people who are opposed to its decriminalization
repeatedly cite. One of these in that Marijuana causes brain damage. This claim is based on a study of
the rehus monkey by Dr. Robert Heath in the late 1970 s. Heath s work was criticized for its
insufficient sample size (only four monkeys), its failure to control experimental bias, and the
misidentification of normal monkey brain structure as damaged (Hager 1). Actual studies of human
populations of marijuana users have shown no evidence of damage to the brain (Hager 1). In fact, the
Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) conducted two studies in 1977 and they showed
no evidence of brain damage in heavy users of marijuana (Hager 1). Later that same year the AMA
came out in favor of the decriminalizing of marijuana (Hager 1). That seems to me that the AMA
wouldn t do that if it thought marijuana was damaging to the brain. Another myth is that marijuana
damages the reproductive system. This is based on the work of Dr. Gabriel Nahas, who experimented
with tissue cells isolated in petri dishes. The cells were dosed with near lethal

eBay still has a dominant market share of online auction. His reputation is a sweeping force in
maintaining his good performance. However, eBay has to be cautious in every marketing decision. His
mistakes will be taken advantage by these new comers. For example, www.bidville.com , an online
auction site, recently experienced a dramatic increase in new member registration after eBay
announced they would raise their listing fees for sellers. eBay took a prompt response by resuming the
listing fee back to the original level. eBay didn t win anything in this price adjustment and
readjustment, but eroded his reputation. Essentially in this online auction market, whoever has the
most name recognition, wins the game. Right now, Bidville s disadvantage in name recognition puts
Bidville out as a possible alternative to eBay s market space temporarily. eBay should think about
more to maintain his name recognition on the long run.
Patents eBay does not hold any key patented technology. A new entrant could easily emulate eBay s
interface.
High cost of entry eBay s most effective barriers are its large network and credible reputation. It is
rather difficult for a new entrant to build a new network starting with no users. (We can verify this by
how new air ticketing companies grow.) The only way to start a network from a reasonable size is to
derive an online auction market from an existing

Transition Of The Business, Client Organizations Are...
TRANSITION IN SCRUM WAY
SUMMARY
To meet and exceed the expectations of the Business, Client organizations are progressively looking at
using agile methodologies for software development. Agile methods attempt to minimize risk of
software development by developing software in short time boxes, called iterations. An agile software
development process release new working version of software at the end of every iteration. Scrum is
one of the most popular agile development methodologies increasingly being adopted by IT firms.
Scrum is an iterative and incremental Agile Software Development structure for managing product
development. It is a development stratagem where the development team works as a unit to reach a
common goal. Scrum enables a daily face to face communication among all team members and
disciplines in the project.
The scope of this paper is to provide an Outline on Scrum Methodology, its communication and
collaboration.
BODY
A key principle of Scrum is during a project the customers can change their minds about what they
want and need, which is called requirements churn, and that unpredicted challenges cannot be easily
addressed in traditional development methods. As such, Scrum adopts an empirical approach
accepting that the problem cannot be fully understood or defined, focusing instead on maximizing the
team s ability to deliver quickly and respond to rising requirements.

experiment. This experiment was conducted to observe the enzyme catalase and how it reacts with
hydrogen peroxide. The liver was chosen as the catalyst in the experiment because that is where
catalases are predominantly found in mammals. This is a practical experiment because it teaches one
how catalases react with other substances and observing how they destroy harmful substances in the

I Am A Good Adult
I Remember
It took me years to figure out what I wanted to be when I grow up. Honestly, I still don t know and
don t ever plan to. Mostly because I cannot imagine becoming a true adult. I d have to do adult things
like returning a sweater I didn t like or gardening. Gardening: to spend hours upon hours toiling in
fields for plants that won t live to see spring! Or worse imagine me cooking, forbid it that I should
ever enjoy cooking! Half the time I mess up boiling water and make macaroni only from a microwave.
I m still afraid of librarians and speaking to strangers. I intend to use Mickey Mouse band aids, color
with crayons and eat Lucky Charms until the day I m cold in my grave. I could never be a good adult.
Thus, it s easy to see how when I was younger I had no idea what I wanted to be. I just knew I wanted
to be good at something and be helpful to people. I hoped the person would know I had invested time
to make their life easier. It never mattered if they remembered my name or my face, just more that I
had cared about them. Yet, I was afraid. I didn t think I had the courage, the ability, to be exceptional
at an occupation. Certainly never enough for it to warrant a novel. Actually I still think that, but here
we are. However, we are not really here because any recent accomplishment I have had. No, we are
here because of three people.
1) a five year old girl with hair that s almost devoid of color and eyes like an autumn sky
2) a four year old boy in red

Essay On Discourse Community
The discourse community I share with my sister is no different. It has existed since we first gained
conscious awareness of one another, and has continued to develop over the years. My interactions
with my sister, from our methods of communications to our range of actions and responses have all
played a viable role in developing the bonds between us. These elements come together toward a
common sense of familial care and appreciation for one another. One point in particular, which this
community continuously makes in our everyday lives is that of communication. Communication is the
key to this discourse community as it is with all others. Between my sister and I, communication is
primarily verbal base and varies in subjects based on several conditions such as immediate
surroundings, recent or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Speaking is a much broader form of communication allowing for easier and more convenient way of
sharing information with another, For example, if my sister wants to share with me her plans for today
and where she ll be in a certain time period, she ll most likely speak to me directly and give me all the
necessary information needed to fully understand her. By speaking it to me, I am able to pose
questions to gain even more clarification should I miss some details and not totally understand what it
is she said. Speaking doesn t follow a specific genre as other forms of communication might, the
specifics of a conversation are geared toward that particular conversation and rarely overlap into other
discussions which we may have between one another. Something of note to point out with speaking is
the higher chance of conflict between members of a discourse community. Being that I talk to my
sister more than any other form of communication, our conflicts are always verbal

Leg Pain in a 22 Year Old Female Soccer Player
A 22 year old female soccer player has had a 3 month history of deep aching pain in the antero lateral
right leg and on some occasions, bilaterally (1). The pain occurs within 15 to 20 minutes of her
training regime or upon commencing a run. She reported symptoms of tightness in her anterior leg,
and weakness of ankle dorsi flexors (1). She described that symptoms worsened as the exercise
duration was prolonged. When activity ceased, symptoms were alleviated, though pain would return if
she re engaged in the activity. Upon attempting to continue training, she developed numbness in the
foot. On examination, mild tenderness was noted on palpation of the antero lateral compartment (1).
This case study presents an individual who is experiencing frequent leg pain upon participation in
physical activity. Leg pain is a common condition experienced by competitive and recreational
athletes. However, the diagnosis of leg pain can be difficult as there are numerous possible underlying
contributors. A thorough comprehension of human anatomy and biomechanics is essential for a proper
understanding (2). Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome is one of the most common conditions
experienced by athletes (1,2). Of a group of 150 athletes who reported exercise induced pain, 33 %
were diagnosed with chronic exertional compartment syndrome (CECS) (2). Although mostly athletes
experience CECS, it is still prevalent amongst non athletes (3).
Compartment syndrome is an

Nonprofit Mission Statement
Over the years, the government has given more responsibility through subcontracts for nonprofits to
carry out a range of services for communities. Consequently, nonprofits face major challenges in a
constantly changing environment. This type of environment has created a battle amongst other
nonprofits as they struggle to obtain similar resources. In this memorandum, the topic of strategy
formulation in the not for profit area and its application to nonprofits are touched on.

African Americans and the Civil War
December 15th 2013 AP US History Unit 7 Essay African Americans and the Civil War Slavery
affected many of the political reasons that contributed to causing the Civil War in 1961. Most in the
Northern states including President Lincoln were more concerned with preserving the Union rather
than fighting for the freedom of all. On the other hand the South fought to preserve what they believed
to be absolute state rights. However the overall goals of the war were altered significantly by the
willingness of African Americans during war. This also later contributed to the new culture and
politics that followed. There was always a constant controversy with the issue of fugitive slaves
throughout the time of the Civil War. Major Butler ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning, the concern of popular sovereignty in new territories and the reformation of the
United States was a very important issue; however, now the government was faced with different
issues involving the South. It was said by the Republican Party that the thirteenth amendment was
expected and essential but if the African Americans had not been so persistent, this would not have
been the case. Also the addition of the fourteenth and fifteenth amendments further more angered the
Southern people (Doc H). This resulted in the majority of Johnson s presidency to be focused on
Reconstruction. Black s participation and involvement in the constitutional conventions showed their
endless support to the Reconstruction (Doc J). Even though grandfather clauses and poll taxes would
soon cut the blacks off from their involvement, they were able to gain full citizenship and suffrage.
These particular triumphs would have been impossible if they had not altered the outcome of the war.
Not only were African Americans majorly involved in political issues, but they were also very major
contributors to social changes in the years that followed the Civil War as well. Many blacks
disregarded Southern discouragement and many joined colored regiments or found jobs of their own
(Doc F). It was alarming to most Southerners, but after the war African Americans started attending
school and the once

As the mixture was heated, it began to boil steadily. Also two separate layers were gradually formed

Safety And Violence In School Shootings
The moment that a person reaches their tipping point is very unpredictable. It is a challenge that law
enforcement, counselors, and now educational leaders must prepare for each day. The present
generation has known a world filled with terrorist attacks, school shootings, and increased family
violence. These atrocities seem to be glorified in video games, movies, and sensationalized on
network TV. Although, mass shootings are rare, the TV and conversation coverage of the event tend to
be attractive to people who suffer from feeling isolated or insignificant in the world. Such is the case
of Seung Hui Cho, an angry and disturbed student, who shot to death 32 students and faculty of
Virginia Tech University, and wounded 17 more before killing himself. This case study will analyze
the massacre with the purpose in mind of understanding the why of the incident thereby hoping to
prevent another student from resorting to murder. Subsequent Revision to on and off campus reports
The hard, cold realities of campus vulnerabilities have made many education stakeholders review,
implement and upgrade a wide variety of solutions related to safety and security (Hatersley Gray,
2015). The Clery Act is a federal law that requires colleges to report crimes that occur on campus and
school safety policies. It also requires schools to send timely warnings to the school community when
there are known risks to public safety on campus (Clery Act, n.d.). Virginia Tech had the capability

The Similarities And Differences Of Religion, Judaism And...
Belief, as defined by the Oxford Dictionary, is a strong feeling that something or someone exists or is
true, confidence that something or someone is good or right. Religions based on monotheism just have
one god. Some of the religions based on monotheism are Judaism, Zoroastrianism, and Atenism.
These three monotheistic religions have some differences and similarities.
First, according to primaryhomeworkhelp.co.uk, Jewish history begins with the covenant established
between God and Abraham around 1812 BC, during the Bronze Age, in the Middle East. Abraham is
considered as the father of the family of Jews. Moses is also an important figure as he gave the Jews
the Torah around 1250 B.C. The Torah contains the laws of God. . Judaism is the culture of the Jews.
This religion was originated in the land of Palestine in the middle east. Since the Jews have been
migrating around the world, their religion has been growing over time. There is something difficult to
believe. Judaism has no dogma, no formal arrangement of convictions that one must hold to be a Jew.
In Judaism, activities are much more essential than convictions, although there is surely a place for
conviction inside Judaism. Dissimilar to numerous different religions, Judaism does not concentrate
much on conceptual cosmological ideas. Although Jews have surely considered ideas of God, man, the
universe, life, and life following death at awesome length, there is no conclusive conviction regarding
these matters,

Kill A Mockingbird By Harper Lee Essay
The way that people understand their circumstances and surroundings is often directly correlated to
the way they perceive the world around them. An adult understands much more around him than a
child does because of the mature, more knowledgeable perception he has. Meanwhile, the child, while
not able to fully understand what she sees, often sees more than an adult because of the knowledge
hungry, curious perception she has. In the book To Kill a Mockingbird, the characters range in gender,
age, and intelligence. The narrator herself is a young elementary age child. She is extremely smart for
her age, but because of her limited exposure to the world, does not fully understand the seriousness
and danger of the story unfolding around her. While the book To Kill a Mockingbird covers many
controversial topics, perception and the change certain characters undergo that effects this perception
are the key to connecting many of them. One of the main characters in Too Kill a Mockingbird is Jem.
He is Scout s older brother. As the story is told, he ages, transitioning from a young boy into a
teenager. His perception of the world around him changes vastly as he ages, leaving curiosity behind
for a better understanding. At the beginning of the story, the reader is introduced to the unseen
character of Boo Radley. According to the adults around town, he is a recluse who never leaves his
home. However, Jem, Scout, and their friend Dill see him in a different light. Jem

Analysis Of Coming Of Age By Anne Moody
At an early age many children are oblivious to issues in society like race relations, and they are easily
influenced by their parents. The book Coming of Age by Anne Moody, takes place during the civil
rights era in the United States. All of the white children stop playing with Anne after an incident in at
the movie theater. These kids were influenced by their parents who didn t want them interacting with
African Americans. Anne Moody s learns about the significance of race in American social life as well
as the differences between the lives of blacks and whites through her experiences at home, school and
work. These experiences help prepare Anne to join the civil rights movement. At home, Anne
experienced firsthand the poverty many African Americans faced, she experienced discrimination and
intimidation in the work employer Mrs. Burke and at the diner by white customers, and she also dealt
with segregated schooling. Through her life at home Anne Moody experienced poverty and
understood the differences between the lives of blacks and whites. Anne spent a large majority of her
child in extreme poverty, having to work after school to help provide for her family her mother was a
maid for white women, but her income was not enough to buy food and clothes for Anne and her
sister. Food in the book was a key distinction in status of whites and blacks. On most days they would
only eat bread and beans and on a good day they thrived off of milk, peanut butter or table scraps from
the white families they worked for. White families didn t know how to cook good food or prepare food
hygienically. Moody realizes this while working for Miss Ola. Moody states, After eating the food
Miss Ola I could see how Mama had to do the cooking because white women didn t know how
(Moody 37). Anne follows up with a detailed description of mucus dripping out of Miss Ola s nose
right into the soup she is about to feed them. Whites compared blacks to animals. Anne s mother used
to buy milk from the white lady on the hill until Anne discovered the lady would leave the milk out
and let her cats drink out of it and then sell that same milk to the African Americans in the community
for twenty five cents. Housing was another aspect of life

Animal Testing Is Cruel And A Waste Of Time
Right now, millions of mice, rats, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs and other animals are locked inside
barren cages in laboratories across the world. They languish in pain, ache, with lonliness, and long to
be free. Instead, all they can do is sit and wait in fear for the next terrifying and painful procedure that
will be performed on them . This statement about animal testing is from PETA.org. I have a strong
belief about this topic so I am arguing the point that animal testing is cruel and a waste of time and
money.
My first point is about the problem with animal testing for cosmetics. Around the world, countries use
all kinds of animals to test cosmetics so they are safe for us to buy and use on our skin daily. But what
we do not think about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many types of alternatives that can be used for medical research such as; cell cultures,
human tissues, computer models and volunteer studies. There are very few countries that actually use
these alternatives which is selfish because they kill innocent animals because their projects are not
designed properly. They could be saving animals lives by using alternatives and it is a much cheaper
option. Alternatives for cosmetic research are toxicity tests, neuroscience and drug development.
These are safer ways to test products to roll out the kinks so they wont burn or irritate skin without
harshly testing them on animals. I think all brands should go cruelty free because it is much easier to
test the products in the labs. It is a more effective and faster way to get the products to customers. It
saves many lives and boosts the sales of brands in every country possible. But for medince I think they
should just limit the amount of animals that are allowed to be used per year and exceeding the limit
shall result in a large fine.
To conclude, I think that animal testing should be banned and I disagree with companies that are still
using animals to test their products. This is a very cruel and inhummaine problem that is happening
and should be

The Enlightenment And Ideas Of The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment was a time of mathematical, scientific, and philosophical advancement. The
thoughts of philosophers like Voltaire, Montesquieu, and Locke inspired many, such as the Americans.
Their ideas about freedom of religion, civil liberties, free trade, and social reforms became the basis
that the Americans built their new country upon and impacted politics and culture. Due to the
advanced ideas that were emerging from Europe, religious views of the colonists started to alter.
Before enlightenment beliefs spread, the universally accepted theory was that human suffering was
inevitable. However, the new conjecture stated God set the universe in motion and gave humans the
power of reason to enable them to comprehend the orderly and complex

Juvenile Crimes Face Harsh Punishments
There are serious flaws with the way the US judicial system prosecutes juveniles. Although there is a
juvenile court system in place to try youth offenders, the way it is being implemented is different
between each state. In addition, some states even go further and try youth offenders, depending on the
crime they committed, in an adult criminal court. In recent years, juvenile crimes face harsh
punishments in the US, and the number of juvenile offenders sent to youth courts is decreasing, based
on the data ( The Sentencing Project Juvenile Justice, 2015). This decline of cases being sent to the
juvenile courts indicates that more cases of youth crime are being transferred to adult courts. Trying a
child as an adult contradicts to UN s rights of the child as listed on FACT SHEET: A summary of the
rights under the Convention on the Rights of the Child (p.1 4), which shows that by transferring a
child to an adult correction facility, we are denying that child of his/her rights.
A child has a limited understanding of how the world functions. It is difficult for a child to distinguish
right from wrong. Therefore, it would be common sense to try a child, under the age of 18, differently
than an adult, with some exceptions being made to frequent offenders and very serious crimes. But
that is not the way it is being implemented in the US. There are three ways a youth offender can be
transferred from a juvenile court to an adult court in the US. Brink (2004) lists the

  • 2. Lord Of The Flies Fire Symbolism Essay Don t play with fire. Fire is unpredictable, uncontainable, and its results are everlasting. Nonetheless, fireplaces, campfires, and birthday candles, rouse the fascination of children and adults because it is the universal symbol of spirit. Unlike conventional symbols, fire has an intrinsic relationship with the spirit it represents. A fire radiates heat and light to create an impression of power and liveliness. The vivacious flames are always dancing in different patterns, but maintain a degree of constancy. In the Lord of the Flies, fire is a prominent symbol of Ralph s hopeful spirit throughout the series of events on the island. Fire s recurring appearances throughout the novels demonstrates that there is always hope in all situations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This shows that Ralph s hopes may not be as high, but the fire along with hope still exists. Savagery is a threat to hope, but does not cause hope to die out. Despite fire s recurring presence, the fire burns out when the hunters desert their duty to tend the fire and hunt a pig instead. When Ralph discovers that Jack and his hunters neglect the fire, Jack provides a feeble excuse. [Ralph to Jack] You let the fire go out. [...] [Jack insists] You should have seen the blood! (Golding 70) When the hunters choose to hunt instead of tending the fire, it represents a descent from the original orderly civilization into savagery. In this scene, Golding hints that savagery threatens Ralph s hopeful mindset for a civilized tribe, but savagery does not kill hope. By the end of the book, all of the boys become hunters who are regarded as savages , murder Ralph s faithful comrade Piggy, and steal the spectacles along with the fire; Ralph seems to be at rock bottom. Ralph has no one to turn to, nowhere to stay, and no plan for the future as he scrambles to escape a hunt, all the while, unable to see hope in his situation. The narrator speaks, The best thing to do was to ignore this laden feeling about the heart, [...] no fire; no smoke; no rescue, (Golding). Unfortunately for Ralph, the hunt escalates when Jack s savage forest fire consumes the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Workers Compensation Research Although there are many motivational reasons for working, one can safely assume that almost every American works at a job away from home to receive money and benefits. Money yields the basic needs of clothes, food, and shelter. Money is also used to purchase transportation, insurance, health care, education, retirement, and entertainment. Given that a worker s job is a vital means to secure the necessities of life, it is essential that the worker or the worker s family is compensated when a job related injury, illness, or death occurs. Government legislation requires employers to provide a reasonable safe place to work and holds most of them responsible for work related injuries, illnesses, and deaths ( ). By definition, workers compensation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yet, due to the wording and interpreting of the contributory negligence and the assumption of risk rules, the injured worker was usually found as the cause of the accident and the employer held not responsible (Goetsch, 2011). Nevertheless, during the Industrial Revolution, thousands of unskilled laborers continued to work on the railroads, in the mines, and with high speed machines in the factories where accidents were occurring at an alarming rate (Clark, 2012). Even though most injured workers did not seek compensation through civil lawsuits, the court system still could not handle the increasing number of cases. The cost and time spent on these cases became a burden to not only the employees but also to the employers (Clark, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Male And Female Roles In The 1800 s Male and female roles have been changing as time goes on over the years. Women have fought to have the same rights as men do. Men have always been dominant over women, for instance women have fought for rights such as voting and being able to work in the same workforce as men do. Men used to believe women should stay at home and not go to work, but instead they should do household chores such as cleaning, cooking, and tending to the children. Male and female roles have changed dramatically over time. In the 1800 s women stayed at home and done the cleaning, cooking, and tended to the children while the husband took care of the harder chores around the house. The male would normally go out and feed the livestock, tend to broken stuff around ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Nuclear Weapons and Their Linkage with Physics Nuclear Weapons and their Linkage with Physics The functioning of nuclear weapons requires understanding the underlying physics beginning with the structure of the atom. The nucleus of the atom consists of electrically neutral particles called neutrons and positively charged particles called protons. The no. of protons equals the no. of electrons rendering the atom electrically neutral. The nucleus of the radioactive particle U 235 has 92 protons and 143 neutrons and heavier atoms have larger excess of neutron over protons compared to lighter ones. The protons and neutrons in the nuclei are composed together through powerful nuclear forces that are stronger compared to any other force which act between them like gravity. Atoms are bound together to form molecules. These atoms are composed together by chemical bonding that form due to the manner in which electrons rearrange themselves within the molecule. This binding energy of a nucleus is almost million times higher than this energy. (Philips, 2012) Nuclear reactions happen when there is a rearrangement of the neutrons and protons of the reacting nuclei to form the product nuclei. When the bonding energy of the reactants is less compared to the binding energy of the products, the excess energy is thus released in the form of radiation. As the bonding energy of nuclei is nearly a million times greater compared to the energy consumed by a chemical bond, the energy released in nuclear reactions corresponds to about a ... • 6. The Effect Of Fast Track System On Emergency Department... Introduction In this paper I will discuss efficacy of fast track system in emergency department across Ontario, that will influence patient satisfaction, and also identifies practices that can be used in the Emergency Department. It also provides ways of promising strategies to help Emergency Departments address patient satisfaction issues more effectively. Each hospital can identify critical issues and processes and choose strategies to support local needs. By introducing the fast track process in a hospital, it caters for the patients who have critical conditions and can be attended to within a very short period. It ends up reducing the extensive waiting time in the emergency room and improves the flow of the patients who come through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fast track system can be employed at various stages to check for potential outcomes and other implementations in the healthcare industry. On the operation stage, the system can be used to analyze the various outcomes of patient flow study. At the strategic stage, fast track system can be used to monitor the financial gains of an organization and evaluate its commercial health. On the national stage, it can be used to observe the government programs that address the reduction of wait time for the patients in the ED s. At the operational stage, it aims to present a concrete analysis of an ED that exists within a fast track system. Introducing the fast track system was meant to reduce the wait times in the ED (Yoon, 2003). Reducing the time would allow the increase of the numbers of patients who come in, get treated, and discharged. It ends up increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the ED. Increasing the effectiveness and its capacity makes it possible for more patients to be examined and treated because there is more time in the system. For example, at the Grand River Hospital, there are several initiatives that are already in place that are targeting to reduce the staying duration of the patient in the ED. These initiatives include having nurse practitioners in the emergency department, having a specific fast track area, emergency medical rules that permit nurses to start on ... • 7. Melting Point Range Lab Report The first part of the experiment focused on finding the melting point range of known substances, Trans cinnamic acid and Urea. The Trans cinnamic acid had a melting point range of 133.0 135.8℃. Urea had a melting point range of 132.5 135.8℃. However, when a 50/50 mixture was created of the two substances, the melting point range was 98.8 132℃, 40 degrees less than the two known substances. This is due to an impurity of the 50/50 mixture. Each substance was acting as an impurity to the other substance. The expected range for Trans cinnamic acid was 132 135℃ and Urea had an expected range of 132 133℃. Trans cinnamic acid and Urea are similar compounds but lack identical structure, causing their combined melting point range to be lower than what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A ramp rate was first used to obtain the approximate melting point of the unknown before obtaining a more accurate melting point range of the unknown substance. Based on the rapid heating rate of the test, it was determined that the unknown substance was either Trans cinnamic acid or Benzoin due to the wider melting point range at 132℃. After the second, slower heating rate, it was determined that the unknown might be Benzoin due to the wider melting point range. However, when experimented with the unknown and the Benzoin, the 50/50 mixture melted before the other 2 compounds had begun to change states because it was acting as an impurity instead of melting at the same time. If the unknown and the possibly known substance were the same compound, those two compounds plus the mixture would have melted at the same time. The Trans cinnamic acid was then compared to the unknown substance, which resulted in two compounds and the mixture melting at the same time, which had a melting point range of 133 to 136.2℃. According to the results of the melting point ranges given, the melting point range of Trans cinnamic acid should be 132 135℃. The experimented results were 133 136.2℃, which are about a degree higher than what they should be, but the compounds and the 50/50 mixture all melted at the same time, making the unknown substance Trans cinnamic ... • 8. Public Opinion On The Topic Of Climate Change Remains Divided Public opinion on the topic of climate change remains divided despite over two decades worth of research and a strong consensus in the scientific community (Deryugina and Shurchkov, 2016). In an experimental survey, the authors tested whether providing the public with information based on scientific agreement on the occurrence and causes of climate change would affect the respondent s beliefs. They found that not only did the public significantly underestimate the extent of the scientific consensus, the survey also indicated that those who were given concrete information about scientist s views were more likely to report believing that climate change was already happening and that it was caused by humans. Moreover, the results concluded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1). There are several natural causes which will dictate which direction and by what amount the temperature changes. Some of these changes are more permanent, most are temporary. One natural cause of climate change is solar irradiance, a measurement of solar power received from the sun and measured at the Earth. Studies have shown that changes in solar irradiance have contributed to climate trends in the past. According to National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), an example of this is the Little Ice Age, which was a period of regionally cold conditions between 1650 to 1850, that is thought to have been possibly triggered by a decrease in solar output from the sun. Be that as it may, NASA also states that since 1750, the average amount of energy coming from the sun has either remained constant or increased only slightly, therefore changes in solar irradiance cannot explain current global warming data (2017, Solar irradiance section). Likewise, volcanism, another example of a natural cause of climate change, is also regarded by some scientists as being the origin of the Little Ice Age. During volcanic eruptions, tiny particles called aerosols are emitted into the atmosphere. Once in the atmosphere, aerosols reflect solar radiation back into space which cools the planet. In his article, Causes of Climate Change Over the Past 1000 Years , Crowley (2000) explains that between 1400 to 1850, volcanic contribution indicated an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Compare And Contrast The Renaissance Art And European Art Compare and Contrast Essay Compare and Contrast works of art that represent the 15th Century Early Renaissance art and 16th Century Northern European art. The artists Masaccio and Grunewald will be used to illustrate the differences and similarities in the styles of art. Their works of art are chosen for their interpretation of the style that was representative during these eras. Early Renaissance artists used mathematical one point linear perspective to create illusions of depth and depicted the human body as realistic and natural. Northern European artist used medieval mysticism and intense emotional spirituality and they used illustrative human figures rather than realistic depictions. By understanding the corresponding and distinctions between these two works of art we can understand why they created their artwork in the respective style to their era. The first work of art is a fresco titled Trinity with the Virgin Mary, John the Evangelist, and the Donors (Holy Trinity) by artist Masaccio during the Early Renaissance c. 1425 1427/1428. The fresco is located on the wall of the Church of Santa Maria Novella in Florence, Italy. Brunelleschi s experiments on linear perspective and architecture had an influence on Masaccio s art. The second work of art is an oil painting on wood panel titled Isenheim Altarpiece by artist Grunewald in c. 1510 1515. In theory it takes the form of a compensation fund. Contributors pay into a fund. In the event of a covered loss, the compensation fund pays the damaged. Such compensation funds are present in the United States where consumers deal with professional service providers, such as real estate brokers and doctors, in which part of the required licensing fee s are placed into the compensation fund. In the event of malpractice, or fraud, the consumer is reimbursed. Similarly funds are present in other areas as well, such as unemployment insurance [compensation] and workplace injury [workmans compensation], in which employees pay into such funds and are compensated in the event of unemployment or injury. At first glance, one may think Haemon s initial decision is based on his love for his father, however, it becomes apparent that his decision was based on his need to honor his father by showing his loyalty to Creon s decision. Haemon illustrates this necessity to honor his father when he says, No marriage will ever be more important to me than justly carrying out your precepts (647 648). Haemon does not say that he wants to follow his ruling because that is his father or because he agrees with Creon. Creon believes that he is honoring the gods and the state by sentencing Antigone to death. Therefore, Haemon believes that if he does not obey his father, he will be dishonoring the gods, the state, and his own father. While the experts recommend that adults get about half of their calories from carbs, low carb diet limits the eating of carb to10 percent of daily calories consumed. Before going anti carb, lets know what they are. Carbs are very important nutrients in food. They are the body s main energy source, supplying energy for everyday activities and making sure everything from your muscles to brain is working properly. Not all carbs are nutritious. Good ones are processed and are full of vitamins and minerals, for example: whole grain pasta and bread, veggies, and fruit. Bad ones come from foods like white bread and sugary sweets, which are full of calories and don t have a lot of nutritional value. There are many many low carb diets. the most popular ones include Atkins, Dukan, Eco Atkins, Medifast, the Paelo and the South beach diet. Decriminalize Marijuana for the Good of America Decriminalize Marijuana for the Good of America Currently, drugs remain high on the lists of concerns of Americans and are considered one of the major problems facing our country today. We see stories on the news about people being killed on the street every day over drugs. To many people drugs are only an inner city problem, but in reality they affect all of us users and non users. I believe that the negative affects we associate with drugs would be greatly reduced if the United States adopted a policy towards the total decriminalization of marijuana. These are all valid arguments, but cigarette smoking is legal, a booming business, and causes the same exact problems. There are a number of myths associated with the use of marijuana and its effects on your body which people who are opposed to its decriminalization repeatedly cite. One of these in that Marijuana causes brain damage. This claim is based on a study of the rehus monkey by Dr. Robert Heath in the late 1970 s. Heath s work was criticized for its insufficient sample size (only four monkeys), its failure to control experimental bias, and the misidentification of normal monkey brain structure as damaged (Hager 1). Actual studies of human populations of marijuana users have shown no evidence of damage to the brain (Hager 1). In fact, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) conducted two studies in 1977 and they showed no evidence of brain damage in heavy users of marijuana (Hager 1). Later that same year the AMA came out in favor of the decriminalizing of marijuana (Hager 1). That seems to me that the AMA wouldn t do that if it thought marijuana was damaging to the brain. Another myth is that marijuana damages the reproductive system. This is based on the work of Dr. Gabriel Nahas, who experimented with tissue cells isolated in petri dishes. These kids were influenced by their parents who didn t want them interacting with African Americans. Anne Moody s learns about the significance of race in American social life as well as the differences between the lives of blacks and whites through her experiences at home, school and work. • 36. Animal Testing Is Cruel And A Waste Of Time Right now, millions of mice, rats, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs and other animals are locked inside barren cages in laboratories across the world. They languish in pain, ache, with lonliness, and long to be free. Instead, all they can do is sit and wait in fear for the next terrifying and painful procedure that will be performed on them . This statement about animal testing is from PETA.org. I have a strong belief about this topic so I am arguing the point that animal testing is cruel and a waste of time and money. My first point is about the problem with animal testing for cosmetics. Around the world, countries use all kinds of animals to test cosmetics so they are safe for us to buy and use on our skin daily. But what we do not think about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many types of alternatives that can be used for medical research such as; cell cultures, human tissues, computer models and volunteer studies. There are very few countries that actually use these alternatives which is selfish because they kill innocent animals because their projects are not designed properly. They could be saving animals lives by using alternatives and it is a much cheaper option. Alternatives for cosmetic research are toxicity tests, neuroscience and drug development. These are safer ways to test products to roll out the kinks so they wont burn or irritate skin without harshly testing them on animals. I think all brands should go cruelty free because it is much easier to test the products in the labs. It is a more effective and faster way to get the products to customers. It saves many lives and boosts the sales of brands in every country possible. But for medince I think they should just limit the amount of animals that are allowed to be used per year and exceeding the limit shall result in a large fine. To conclude, I think that animal testing should be banned and I disagree with companies that are still using animals to test their products. This is a very cruel and inhummaine problem that is happening and should be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Enlightenment And Ideas Of The Enlightenment The Enlightenment was a time of mathematical, scientific, and philosophical advancement. The thoughts of philosophers like Voltaire, Montesquieu, and Locke inspired many, such as the Americans. Their ideas about freedom of religion, civil liberties, free trade, and social reforms became the basis that the Americans built their new country upon and impacted politics and culture. Due to the advanced ideas that were emerging from Europe, religious views of the colonists started to alter. Before enlightenment beliefs spread, the universally accepted theory was that human suffering was inevitable. However, the new conjecture stated God set the universe in motion and gave humans the power of reason to enable them to comprehend the orderly and complex ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Juvenile Crimes Face Harsh Punishments There are serious flaws with the way the US judicial system prosecutes juveniles. Although there is a juvenile court system in place to try youth offenders, the way it is being implemented is different between each state. In addition, some states even go further and try youth offenders, depending on the crime they committed, in an adult criminal court. In recent years, juvenile crimes face harsh punishments in the US, and the number of juvenile offenders sent to youth courts is decreasing, based on the data ( The Sentencing Project Juvenile Justice, 2015). This decline of cases being sent to the juvenile courts indicates that more cases of youth crime are being transferred to adult courts. Trying a child as an adult contradicts to UN s rights of the child as listed on FACT SHEET: A summary of the rights under the Convention on the Rights of the Child (p.1 4), which shows that by transferring a child to an adult correction facility, we are denying that child of his/her rights. A child has a limited understanding of how the world functions. It is difficult for a child to distinguish right from wrong. Therefore, it would be common sense to try a child, under the age of 18, differently than an adult, with some exceptions being made to frequent offenders and very serious crimes. But that is not the way it is being implemented in the US. There are three ways a youth offender can be transferred from a juvenile court to an adult court in the US. Brink (2004) lists the ...
