The Salem With Trials
Salem Witch Trials The 17th century was filled with mystery because of the strong beliefs in the
supernatural powers and the presence of Satan on Earth in the colonial North America. Witchcraft, the
use of magical faculties, was mainly used by the peasants with a particular charm of being associated
with the evil spirits and demons to prosper in their agricultural activities. In fact, many literatures were
written on witchcraft during that period. For instance, Joseph Glanvill in 1668, claimed to have proof
of the existence of these powers in witches and ghosts in his thesis titled Against Modern Sadducism .
Along with this thesis, other works by Cotton Mather, a minister at the Boston North Church, created
the fear among the people about the wandering and meandering of demons on Earth (Adams, 2009).
As a result, there was caution and concern among people from all quarters regarding the activity of
witchcraft and black magic. This proves the common mindset of the society and the religious views
and beliefs were blindly followed during those days; particularly when Christianity was almost occult.
In the Salem Village (currently Denver, Massachusetts), people believed that ills and misfortunes were
a result of the Devil s tricky activities. Hence, natural events such as infant deaths, failure of crops,
conflicts and friction in the society were attributed to the supernatural powers. There were numerous
accusations on witchcraft activities for all the unusual outbreak of

Basic Rules of Driving
Before driving a car, you must learn first what road signs, colors, and sign shapes mean. You need to
learn what the different road signs mean and what they look like. There are many signs which you
must follow in order to get to your destination. It is very important that you learn all these before
actually driving. Another thing you must know is which lane you must drive in and how to turn into a
lane. The reason is because you cannot get into a car without knowing what to do while on the road. In
order to drive a car you must first take drivers training, if you have never driven a car. Then you take a
written test that includes all the information you have learned about the road. But, for now learning
about signs and colors is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason is because there are so many things that a good driver needs to know. It is never good to go
with your gut instinct because sometimes your instinct can be wrong. Driving is considered to be a
privilege that is why you must earn your right to drive. It is easy for me to show you how to drive, but
in order for me to do that I my self should be a good and licensed driver. Even having a license doesn t
give anyone the right to teach a person how to drive behind the wheel. The only thing I can do is help
you learn what you need to learn so you can become a

Sins In The Help, By Kathryn Stockett
In the movie The Help, by Kathryn Stockett, sins are prevalent primarily prejudice takes place against
the dark skinned members of society. The Help is set in the south of the United States in 1962,
portraying the lives of black maids and the white women who employ them. The movie is full of sins
including sins of commission, sins of omission, mortal sins, venial sins, and sinful social structures. At
the beginning of the movie, we immediately encounter a sin of commission. Mae Mobley, a young
two year old, is physically abused and neglected by her mother, Elizabeth. In one scene, Elizabeth
strikes her daughter for sitting on a black person s toilet. Sins of commission are sins we commit by
doing something we shouldn t do. It s the type of sin we are most familiar with. The poor young girl is
treated so poorly for simply no reason. Elizabeth recognizes what she is doing is wrong yet continues
to do so. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in the movie, Skeeter recognized the racism around her was wrong yet never spoke out.
She experienced pressure from her friends and didn t want to be ridiculed. She wrote the book, The
Help, which included stories of the black servants yet she did not have the courage to say anything to
her friends. When Hilly was rude to Aibileen Skeeter she did not say anything until the end of the
film. The book was also written under someone else s name. Skeeter wasn t the only one at fault for
this sin. Failing to help others is a perfect example of sins of

Human Embryonic Stem Cells
The human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) have defined by Bryant and Schwartz (2008) is in the
mammalian embryo, there are several cell divisions that take place after the fertilization of the sperm
and the egg in the uterus. There is no growth in the total volume of the cell, so the cells that are known
as blastomeres get progressively smaller. Then, they are rearranging into a hollow ball known as
blastocyst and surround the blastocoel which is a fluid filled cavity. The blastocyts and then segregate
into an outer layer called tropoblast and an inner cell mass (ICM). The tropoblast will form the
placenta to the fetus while the inner cell mass that contains human embryonic stem cell will form the
tissues of the fetus. According to Sandel and Phil (2004), the hESCs can cure and provide treatment
for many kinds of disease such as Parkinson, Alzheimer, diabetes and spinal cord injury. But, ethical
issues of hESCs research, therefore, overlap with those of the embryo research. On top of that, De
Wert and Mummery (2003) commented that the research of hESCs has high political and ethical
agenda in many countries. Their use in the treatment of disease remains controversial regardless of
their potential benefit. This is because their derivation from the early embryo. As Fischbach,
Fischbach and others (2004) observe:
Human embryonic stem cells offer the promise of a new regenerative medicine in which damaged
adult cells can be replaced with new cells. Research is needed to determine

Lyssavirus Research Paper
Rabies (lyssavirus) attacks the human s nervous system, and is later discharged in the saliva. The
lyssavirus keeps out of sight from the immune system, so there is no immune response and it is hard to
fight back with the hidden virus. If the person infected does not get immediate treatment, the disease
will evolve. After the person gets bitten, they should receive first aid immediately. After that, the only
way to stop the rabies from growing is a preventive treatment. The treatment is giving certain
immunoglobulin, which is an inactive immunization, and giving a normal vaccination, which is an
active immunization. With the immunoglobulin, certain antibodies are given to fight the rabies like an
antidote. They attach to the rabies virus and

The Theory Of Purchasing Power Parity
David Ricardo came up with the theory of Purchasing Power Parity (PPP). PPP is an economic
technique used to estimate the level of adjustment needed to arrive at an agreed exchange rate between
two currencies in order that trade can effectively take place. When the price of two commodities from
two different countries is converted into one currency, the price of both commodities should be the
same. One way of determining the inter currency exchange rates is to carry out a PPP test. This test
will also help to prevent commodity traders from buying cheaply and selling at significantly higher
rates.
The basic measure of PPP is the law of one price: Pi=EiP*i, where Ei is the exchange rate, Pi = log
(CPI of the domestic country), and P*i= log (CPI of the foreign country). The equation means that the
good i should have same price when the exchange rate is applied to it. This is because there is an
arbitrage in exporting goods from the country that has a low price to a country that has a high price. In
the long term, prices when converted into the same currency at market exchange rates , should be
equal across economically integrated countries . (Voinea: 2013, p.6)
There are two ways to measure PPP. The first one is Absolute PPP (APPP) which states that the
exchange rate between two countries should be equal to the price of a basket of items in two countries
due to arbitrage, i.e. ∑▒p_i=E∑▒p_i^* , where E is the exchange rate. The second measure is
Relative PPP (RPPP)

Mark Wade Album Analysis
Mark Wade is a proficient double bassist and composer who has been playing in NYC for two
decades, showing off his fluid, athletic sound. The follow up to his widely recognized debut album,
Event Horizon, is entitled Moving Day and like its previous, features a classic trio with Tim Harrison
and Scott Neumann on piano and drums, respectively. Together, they achieve an impressive triangular
tightness that can be heard without delay on the first track, the 6/4 post bop wonder that gave the
album its title. It kicks off with the pianist delivering an ostinato, which, minutes later, is reutilized by
the bassist to install the groove. The bandleader embarks on an effusive back and forth solo,
discharging equal parts of melody and rhythm, and the energy doesn t faint when Neumann unleashes
his clear sighted chops over a rock inflected vamp. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I thought of it as a crossing between Stevie Wonder and Chick Corea. Borrowing melody from
Debussy s La Mer , The Bells is an imaginative waltz encompassing glorious suspensions and a
chamber esque sparseness created by the bowed bass. On top of this musing, Harrison s left hand
onrushes are perceptible on the lower register, bringing McCoy s technique to the mind. The coolness
of the piano solo brings nice melodies while the brushwork of the drummer is noticeable throughout
the bass solo. Wade devised new shiny outfits for a couple of jazz standards, with Another Night in
Tunisia being shuffled in tempo yet maintaining the strong Latin affinity present in Dizzy s original,
and Autumn Leaves , which was reorganized to include Herbie Hancock s Maiden

Television In the Lives of Children Essay
Television In The Lives Of Children
Consistently, everywhere, in this century there seems to be some form of a TV screen. These screens
appear in restaurants, schools, at work, at home, and quite possibly more. What is forgotten in society
is how that screen may affect the lives of the children in this modern world. When children are
constantly watching a television screen there may be consequences to their health and education. Most
parents do not have the ability to control what is shown on TV. Many programs disagreeably display
marathons after school and during holidays. Supposedly, adult shows are only showed late at night,
but with movies becoming more and more explicit, even bed time can t stop the most determined
child. Children s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Violence on the television can also be affecting children s health. Injuries are the leading cause of
death in children, and watching unsafe behavior on TV may increase children s risk taking behavior.
(Boyse Online). So, when watching Americas Funniest Home Videos make sure to monitor every
minor in the house (that may be their next idea of a fun game).
Violence on television can also be damaging to a child s reaction to the world Kids who view violent
acts are more likely to show aggressive behavior but also fear that the world is scary and that
something bad will happen to them. (Gavin Online). When young children see these explicit scenes of
violence on screen at that age, most cannot tell the difference from reality so, in the child s mind these
bad thing could befall them. Violence occurs so much on shows and movies, some violent acts that
happen in life are unnoticed The average American child will witness 200,000 violent acts on
television by age 18. Kids may become desensitized to violence and more aggressive. (Gavin Online).
It s important to teach the kids between right and wrong, but this becomes difficult when children are
constantly surrounded by television, Even though kids are taught by their parents that it s not right to
hit, television says it s OK to bite, hit, or kick if you re the good guy. This can lead to confusion when
kids try to understand the difference

Olivia, I understand that you don t want to discuss the situation you re going through with Eli. Of
course, my heart breaks not only because you re my daughter, but I completely understand how you
feel because I ve been through the same thing many times when I was a teenager. It sucks, it hurts, it
makes you mad and it makes you very confused. I know you thought everything was good with the
two of you even though you were arguing for a month, but you never expected him to break up with
you. People who really care about each other sometimes break up because they just figure it s the best
thing to do at the time. If you both talked and agreed that you cared enough about each other to make
changes then you would be back together by now.

Yharnam Research Paper
The city of Yharnam, a place of healing and miracles, is the destination of many foreign travellers
seeking blood healing. The legend says that some type of sacred blood is used to help cure any type of
ailment. And so it is that many travellers set sail to seek the sacred city and its great cathedral.
In the beginning, the city was ruled by the royal family in Cainhurst. The castle was accessible only
through a bridge that connects to Hemwick, a small village by the west of Yharnam. The royal family
ruled for many years and with the help of the biggest academy in the region, Bergenwerth, they

godhood itself. The discovery of the tombs of the gods below the city had started an evolutionary
movement within the academy. Their theory was that ancient beings inhabited the city of Yharnam
beforehand and had managed to make contact with greater beings called the Great Ones . Great Ones
were worshipped as Gods and used to communicate with the Pthumerians, the ancient inhabitants of
the city of Yharnam. That communication with the Great Ones allowed the Pthumerians to ascend to a
new level of existence, enhancing their physical abilities and allowing them to use powers akin to
magic, arcane powers. Furthermore, an average Pthumerian could live longer than humans by a long
stretch. Evidence of that was provided when scholars encountered few of them during their numerous
tomb excavations. Pthumerians have become only shells, serving to guard the tombs where the gods
are buried. Killing one of them takes immense power and reflexes. Many scholars had lost their lives
going into the tomb where the first Pthumerian was encountered until hunters came into

Changes In The Tempest
Clarifying with Changes
A theme of a play can be portrayed in many different ways. Most commonly the theme is portrayed
through the storyline of the play. Characters, setting, and the life actors bring to a character are also
things that may illustrate the theme for a play. The Tempest, one of Shakespeare s many plays has a
number of different themes. When the ES1B version of The Tempest was written and produced
changes were made to the play to strengthen one of the biggest themes in The Tempest. This theme
being the power struggle between an established society vs. a natural or native society and the conflict
caused because of this. What changes and alternations of the ES1B version has strengthened and
clarified the theme of established ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the original version the play ends with Prospero reciting the prologue. In the prologue Prospero
explains how he has used his magic in a bad manner, which he is now planning to stop, and he asks
the audience for their forgiveness, specifically asking for their indulgence to set him free. The play
ends there, however in the ES1B version it does not quite end there. As the lights start dimming, the
audience starts applauding believing the play is finished , the out of nowhere Ariel enters with a gun,
shoots Prospero, blackout, the play is finished. Throughout the play it seems as the established society
is better or more powerful than the natural society. It all seems almost too easy for the established
world to come and take over the natural society. For example Prospero can just arrive on the island
and without struggle turn Ariel and Caliban into his personal servant and slave. Another example is
how easy it is for Sebastian to become king and master over Caliban. This makes it seem as it requires
nothing for the established society to have power over the natural or native society. However with the
new ending the natural society now gets a chance to take back what has been taken from them and
regain some power. The death of Prospero balances the power between the two groups, since no group
is more powerful than the other there is still a struggle of power in the end. This

How Is Voltage Used In Australia
Voltage represents electric potential energy per unit charge. If a unit of electrical charge was placed in
a location, the voltage indicates the potential energy of it at that point. Basically, it is a measurement
of the energy contained within an electric circuit or electric field at a given point.
The voltage used in households in Australia is 230V 50Hz.
How is electricity supplied to homes
Australia is self sufficient in energy resources for electricity generation. The black coal is used to
supply electricity in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia, while the brown coal is
used in Victoria. Australia also has hydro centrals, used to produce hydro electric energy for Tasmania.

The Problem Of Real Estate
Those who have never bought, sold or otherwise transferred title to a property in Australia will need to
learn a thing or two about the subject of conveyancing. Generally speaking, this is the legal transfer of
title to property from one person to another. There are some kits on the market that enable buyers to
complete the process involved in transferring ownership of property, but this is not generally
recommended as differences in state laws, and the complexity of the process itself, can cause potential
problems. Real Estate is typically the most valuable asset that any of us will ever own, and its legal
title transfer must be handled carefully to ensure the protection of all parties and full compliance with
the law. It is, therefore, important to know what conveyancing is and what is involved in the process,
as well as what a conveyancer does in this process and how both buyers and sellers can benefit from
their services. When seeking any professional for their services, it is critical to find someone who is
qualified. This is especially important for a transaction as major as those involving real estate. You ll
want to have a good idea of how much it costs to employ their services and whether one should use a
conveyancer or a solicitor when engaging in various property transfers. This subject may seem new
and daunting to someone who has not gone through it, but the right professional can navigate you
through it to a settlement that is amicable for both parties.

MID EXAM
1Ans) Intellectual property right gives credit to the original work done by the people .The law
the creative work of the people from coping or imitating without their permission. There are
three main things that protect the intellectual right .They are copyrights, patents and trademarks.
As the technology increases instead of thinking newly ,people are choosing a alternative or easy
way of imitating the other works and showing as their own work .
Here are few examples of violating the intellectual property rights:
1.)A Beijing court in china has ruled that Microsoft violated intellectual properties of a Chinese
company. Violation was over fonts that are used in previous versions of windows operating
system, which lead Microsoft to stop selling versions of windows that use Chinese fonts.
There are violations of pirated copies of windows that are been selling in China. There was
an agreement of using fonts in windows from Zhongyi s intellectual property. But Zhongyi
appealed that the agreement was for Windows 95 only but not for other versions of windows.
2.) In San Juan, the group was arrested by Puerto Rico Police working jointly with U.S

Mary Shelley Constraints
In everything, there are constraints to what you can do in that subject. I am currently in a class that
studies how those constraints bring about the creativity in the world. I believe Mary Shelley is an
excellent example of how a beaucoup of restraints can lead to one of the best novels of all time,
Frankenstein. The most notable would be the time period she wrote it in, that she was a woman
pursuing any sort of career in that time period, and creating a new genre of book altogether.
Mary Shelley is thought to have a very tragic life. Mary Shelley was born August 30, 1797 to Mary

Tons of people in the world that love animals and enjoy having their company. This is why most
people have pets around their household. With these pets we often train them to do special tricks for

do special tricks to entertain people. Many people enjoy seeing animals doing tricks and stunts,
especially animals that are rare to be seen by the human population. But what they don t know is how
harmful it is to the animals. From the constant abuse, these animals life span are shortened and more
are getting hurt daily. These animals aren t actors yet thousands of these animals are forced to perform
meaningless tricks under physical punishment. With places like SeaWorld and circuses, human
trainers and performers choose to be there and entertain people while the animals that are used in their
facility have no choice and are forced to perform. While there are some laws and organizations that

Tone in William Wordsworth s quot; The World Is Too Much...
In William Wordsworth s sonnet The World Is Too Much with Us the speaker conveys his frustration
about the state in which he sees the world. Throughout the poem the speaker emphatically states his
dissatisfaction with how out of touch the world has become with nature. Typical of Italian sonnets, the
first eight lines of the poem establish the problems the speaker is experiencing such discontent about.
Subsequently, the next line reveals a change in tone where the speaker angrily responds to the
cynicism and decadence of society. Finally, the speaker offers an impossible solution to the troubles he
has identified. Through each line, the tone elevates from dissatisfaction to anger in an effort to make
the reader sense the significance of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Disgusted, the speaker sees how society has morally degraded itself in exchange for wealth and greed.
The frustrated tone of the poem becomes further elevated when the speaker exclaims, We have given
our hearts away, a sordid boon! (4). Blinded by the daily drudgeries of life, people have become
impervious to nature, despite some of the grand displays that one can behold. The speaker describes
beautiful images of nature such as the sea, howling winds, and flowers that no longer create an
emotional response in people. Since the world has become so out of touch with nature, mankind is no
longer able to appreciate the drama that takes place between the wind and the moon. Additionally, the
speaker claims that society has become so indifferent to nature that, Little we see in Nature that is
ours; (3).
Outraged by society s apathy towards nature, the speaker experiences an angry outburst as he
endeavors to respond to this problem. Exclaiming, Great God! (9) the speaker unleashes his fury
towards society. He is no longer merely frustrated, but enraged by the unmoved society in which he
lives. In the remaining five lines of the poem the speaker alters his discourse from his disgust towards
society, to providing a resolution, albeit an impossible resolution to this crisis. Rather than become
indifferent to nature, the speaker would rather turn to a pagan Greek religion as a means of lessening
his frustration. Since the gods are figures that are intimately

know, when I was doing credentialing for a health organization I built a relationship with the

this relationship, when issues did arise I was able to speak with the representative. I was also

by building this relationship, I am better able to address any questions or concerns regarding

Counterpointed Characterization In Burning Down The House
Counterpointed characterization is seen in Aurora by Junot Diaz in the very beginning when the
narrator and Aurora are introduced. Charles Baxter explains counterpointed characterization in
Burning Down the House as, Stories often arise when two characters who hardly belong together are
forced to inhabit the same frame of reference, as they often must in families (Baxter 90). In other
words, that two characters are paired together that bring certain characteristics out of each other that
bring conflict. In the case of the narrator and Aurora in the story it is the relationship of a young
couple who believe they are, or could be good for each other if the circumstances were different. The
couple instead has a relationship that is quite toxic,

An Observational Study Design That Could Be Appropriately...
An observational study design that could be appropriately used by an APN to study the above research
question is a cross sectional study design. Important questions to make this study applicable, is it
appropriate; is the characteristics between prevalent and incident cases a factor; have other
explanations been ruled out?
According to Curley Vitale (2012), the cross sectional study determines the exposure and outcomes at
the same time. It provides a snap shot at one point in time. The information obtained was about the
relationship of Tuberculosis and the White Ethnic group of males during a single point in time, 1993
and 2011. Cross sectional studies are applicable for screening the hypothesis due to the fact they
require a small time frame and minimal resources to manag e.
Cross sectional study design has been utilized to comprehend the prevalence of diseases, treatments,
services and outcomes. Cross sectional study strengths contain surveys that are inexpensive and takes
a shorter time to complete, and can provide descriptive data about the population of people involved in
the study. The study can be useful for assessing risk factor prevalence rate, a means to compare
groups, has the ability to study fatal diseases within a smaller population, and can study multiple
exposures (Curley Vitale, 2012).
Cross sectional weaknesses are unable to measure or determine exposures exactly because the
outcome and exposure is done simultaneously. There can be bias of variable

Communication Styles Between Men And Women
Today, divorce has become an extremely common and a better understanding on how to maintain a
healthy and happy marriage is critical. Unsuccessful communication plays a vital role in the failure of
many marriages and relationships. Communication is key in all relationships and can lead to the
success or failure of a marriage, depending on how the couple interacts. This effectiveness of
communication is connected to the overall satisfaction of married couples. Learning more about the
differences in communication styles between men and women will aid in the successful sending and
receiving of messages, both verbal and nonverbal. For example, a woman might communicate in a
way that has significant meaning to her. Though, the man receiving the message may translate it
differently than the way she intended. The misunderstanding is because of the difference in
communication style between the husband and the wife and can cause conflict and lead to future
problems in the relationship. However, if the man interpreting the message were familiar with his wife
s way of communication, he may have understood and avoided a conflict situation. Becoming more
aware of how one s own self communicates will also aid in healthier communication between spouses.
This literature review will discuss methods, limitations, and results associated with nonverbal
communication styles, conflict because of communication, and communicated perspective taking
within relationships.

Wallace Stevens The Evolution Of A Wolf
In a pack of wolves, there will always be one alpha wolf. This would be the so called leader of the
pack. The leader of the pack has the most influence. Society works in a similar way. In America we
elect the president that has the most influence in the country. As in the pack of wolves, leaders tend to
have a special something which makes people gravitate towards them. Wallace Stevens mentions the
same leader: I placed a jar in Tennessee/and round it was around that hill. (Stevens 1 2). A jar is not a
star figure which everyone would gravitate to. Even so it is a simple plain object. However Stevens
does say that He places the jar. This could imply that someone else placed the jar on top of the Hill.
This person probably put a jar in the

Smoothie Blenders
A smoothie is a great way to get the nutrients your body requires from fruits and vegetables.
Smoothies have become very popular with health conscious people and are available in a variety of
flavors. What is a smoothie? A smoothie is a chilled blended beverage made from fruits and/or
vegetables. It is sometimes sweetened and may contain chocolate. Many smoothies include crushed
ice, honey or frozen fruits. They are consistent like milkshakes and are thicker than slush drinks.
Usually smoothies do not contain ice cream but there are some that contain milk and yogurt.
Smoothies are now available in cafes, coffee shops and even in supermarkets but the best way to get a
smoothie that is tailor made for you is to make it yourself. To do this you ... Show more content on

You can choose between a portable immersion unit and a full sized container blender. The portable
immersion unit is designed for individual needs and is portable enough to carry to the office for on the
spot use. To make more than one glass of smoothie at a time you will need a container blender. These
electric blenders sit on your counter top. They are used to make large batches of smoothies. They have
a lot of power and can even blend ice and frozen fruits.
When choosing your smoothie blender you should consider how often you will be using it. Different
blenders run for different periods of time, if you are planning to use the blender for longer periods of
time then you need to get a heavy duty blender that will be able to handle the load. Usually the run
time of a blender depends on the RPM (Rotations per Minute) of the motor. A good rule of thumb is
that the lower the RPM the longer the run time though this is not always the case.
Blenders run at a very high speed so it is important to get a blender that is sturdy. If you leave your
blender unattended it should not walk across the counter because of the vibrations from its motor.
Your blender should also come with a lid that fits snugly. The lid should not pop off and cause a
mishap if you are not there supervising. You should get a blender that has a tight lid and a heave base,
such a blender will be much safer to

Classical Theorists And Human Relations Theorists Essay
During the operation of management, structured people in one organisation coordinate with each other
to accomplish common goals. To ensure the process is efficient with scare resources, different scholars
advance different interpretations, such as Classical Theorists and Human Relations Theorists. The
most famous point of view in Classical Theorists is to manage is to forecast and plan, to organize, to
command, to co ordinate and to control, which is advanced by Fayol. It must be admitted that an
increasing number of people are concerned about the usability of the Classical Theorists. However,
whether it is suitable and widespread in daily management has caused heated debate. From my
perspective, Fayol s standpoint is certainly universal in organisations and management today and I
will discuss this in the following paragraphs.
Firstly, it is obvious that Weber, who is also pioneer of Classical Theory have advanced authority and
organisation is very essential in the society. This had close contribution to the opinion of Fayol as he
classified to organise and to control are two of the five elements of the definition of management. The
managers should build up the structure, material and human with legible control and inspection so the
activities could be operate well by independent staff (Fayol, 1916). Even managers should be selected
and trained to make precise decisions and direct the assignment of responsibilities. Similarly, Weber
(1947) claimed that authority relations

Self-Realization In The Glass Castle By Jeannette Walls
One of the things that amazed me the most about The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls was that even
though she had basically been brainwashed by her own father, she still came to terms with what she
wanted out of her life and became a success. For her entire childhood, her parents did not even think
she would amount to anything because she had no real skills, and her father did try and push her
towards a life in science. However, in high school, Jeannette realized she had a passion for journalism;
which is how she ended up turning herself into a success. Her story of triumph against all odds, and
finding what someone really wants to do was what really inspired me. The theme of self realization in
The Glass Castle of what a person s beliefs are even in the face of adversity is something I have been
able to relate to in my life. For my entire life I have been raised Catholic, and for a while that is really
all I knew. I was baptised as a baby, I was confirmed in second grade, I went to sunday school, and I ...

The far majority who invest in the stock market or a type of security hope that their investment
escalates in value or price. However, others execute investments based on the opposite taking place;
they hope that the price of the security declines. These investors are practicing short selling.
Numerous renowned examples of short selling exist, one of which, the shorting of mortgage backed
securities during the real estate bubble in 2008. A number of critics find short selling unethical while
others feel it necessary to maintain a balance in the market. According to Nasdaq, short selling can be

In the 1980s, investments banks such as Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, Bear Stearns, JP Morgan, and
Morgan Stanley started selling mortgage bonds. Mortgage bonds were a collection of thousands of
home mortgages, purchased from lenders, and their associated income streams (monthly payment). To
address the fact that some homeowners often refinance their debt when interest rates are low which
prematurely pays off the debt, mortgage bonds were stacked into layers called tranches . The lowest
tranche represented mortgages to be paid off early, and the highest layer was the last mortgages to be
paid off. Then, in the 1990s, bonds were created consisting of subprime mortgages, which were higher
risk mortgages with high interest rates, made to borrowers with lower credit levels. Essentially, banks
were handing out mortgages like candy to consumers who were never going to be able to make the
payments, but Wall Street kept buying and packaging the mortgages into bonds. Since these bonds
were inherently riskier, one wonders why investors were still willing to buy. Investors, who look at
ratings by agencies such as Moodys and Standard Poors, had no reason to believe these bonds were
risky investments. The agencies, whom were being paid by Wall Street, were assigning high ratings to
these risky bonds. Que the creation of the Collateralized Debt Obligation (CDO). CDOs bundled the

On august 29, 2005 Hurricane Katrina made landfall along the United States gulf coast as a category 3
on the Saffir Simpson Hurricane scale. The 400 mile wide storm brought heavy rains and winds in
excess of 140 miles per hour to states along the gulf coast. The widespread devastation resulted in
thousands of people in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama to be displaced from their homes, and
experts estimate that Katrina caused more than $100 billion in damage (History.com). While the storm
did cause significant damage, the primary cause of most of the devastation was the result of levees
along the Inner Harbor Navigational Canal being breeched. With an average elevation of roughly two
feet below sea level, the city of New Orleans suffered major devastation from flooding once the
waters breeched the levees and walls; by some estimates more than 80% of the city was flooded.
According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), there were 1,833 deaths
attributed to the storm both directly and indirectly (FEMA.gov). The long term impacts of Hurricane
Katrina are still to be known. Now more than ten years later the city of New Orleans and its residents
continue to feel the effects of the devastating storm. The population of New Orleans fell from 484,674
before Katrina (April 2000) to an estimated 230,172 after Katrina (July 2006) a decrease of 254,502

Book Of Mormon Research Paper
The Book of Mormon is the records of the people on the land of ancient America. These records were
engraved on metal plates, and was later quoted and abridged by a prophet historian names Mormon. It
contains the teachings of Jesus Christ on His visit to the Nephites soon after His resurrection, the
doctrines of the gospel, and teachings on the plan of salvation (The Introduction of the Book of
Mormon). It is one of the standard works of scripture of our church. It helps us to understand more
about the teachings in the Bible. These records were hidden under the command of God and the

Concerning this record the Prophet Joseph Smith said: I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon
was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get
nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book. (The Introduction of the Book of
Mormon) . President Benson taught that there are three reason why we need to study the Book of
Mormon. First, it is the keystone in our witness of Jesus Christ. It recorded the teachings of Jesus s
during His visit to the America. Second, it is the keystone of the doctrine of the Resurrection. With the
record of Jesus s teachings, it shows that Jesus Christ indeed was resurrected. It also teaches very
clearly what resurrection is; tells us what will happen after this life. Third, it is the keystone of
testimony (Benson). Through reading the Book of Mormon, pounder on the teachings, and praying to

problem the objector has to resolve for himself is whether the Book of Mormon is true. For if the

But I think I have found the the answer. I believe the colonist fired first because they have a history of
antagonizing the british in some situation s it has turned deadly. Also on many accounts of the events
they had been found guilty of firing first. My reasons to support my thesis are from British Lieutenant

the british fired first when he says The troops marched on till they came within a few rods of captain

an officer at the head of said troops flourishing his sword, and with a loud voice giving the word fire.
So what happened was he was on the front line when he claims to have seen the british fire first. But
this is not a reliable source for the reason of it is 6 days after the event they may forget some stuff as if
it was on the day of the event as both of my sources. Also then is it more reliable if a colonist say it
was a colonist or a british claiming it was the colonist.
My final piece of rebuttal evidence is from the official deposition of Sylvanus Wood. He claims it was

Understanding The Unconscious Meanings Behind Individuals
Introduction Individuals belong in a lot of different groups and settings in their lives and their ability
to function well within these settings it is important for their wellbeing but also for the growth of the
organisation itself. As potential therapists who are going to work with people within organisations it is
important to understand the unconscious meanings behind individuals behaviours and the mechanisms
that individuals and organisations use to deal with their anxieties. As humans and organisations use
similar ways to defend themselves from similar anxieties, in this Essay I will describe some of these
ways. I will first talk about what anxiety is from a psychoanalytic perspective and then I will talk
about the defensive mechanism of projection as it is a mechanism that occur in the ways that
individuals deal with anxiety but is also a mechanism that groups use to deal with their anxieties in the
organisations. To make projection clearer I will give an example from own personal life. I will
continue by describing defences that occur in social systems and I will do that by using the Bion s
social defences against anxiety. I will move on to describe Melanie s Klein concepts of persecutory
anxiety and depressive anxiety as they are concepts that relate to Jaque s social defence system which
is a concept that describes how individuals use organisations deal with their anxieties. I will attempt to

Jones Blair Case

Jones Blair is a paint company headquartered in Dallas, Texas that sells architectural paint. Jones Blair
markets its paint to fifty counties in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana, and eleven county
Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) metropolitan areas. Jones Blair has branded itself as having a high end paint
product. Increased R D, material, and labor cost have allowed Jones Blair to have the highest price
among competitors in its service area and still obtain a great amount of business. Jones Blair is
focused on providing architectural paint to a market that is fifty percent segmented, which half
consists of do it yourself consumers and the other fifty percent spilt among professional painters and
government contracts. Jones Blair has enjoyed dollar sales rising at an annual rate of four percent over
the past five years. Even though Jones Blair has enjoyed a successful rise in dollar sales, it has seen a
decline in the gallon volumes in DFW areas due to a rise in competition. Jones Blair is aware that it is
approaching the threshold in its prices. Jones Blair is afraid that once the threshold price is reached,
then the decline in volume sales will lead to Jones Blair unsuccessfully meeting its sales margins.
Jones Blair needs to determine how and where to adjust marketing efforts to raise sales volume

  • 2. The Salem With Trials Salem Witch Trials The 17th century was filled with mystery because of the strong beliefs in the supernatural powers and the presence of Satan on Earth in the colonial North America. Witchcraft, the use of magical faculties, was mainly used by the peasants with a particular charm of being associated with the evil spirits and demons to prosper in their agricultural activities. In fact, many literatures were written on witchcraft during that period. For instance, Joseph Glanvill in 1668, claimed to have proof of the existence of these powers in witches and ghosts in his thesis titled Against Modern Sadducism . Along with this thesis, other works by Cotton Mather, a minister at the Boston North Church, created the fear among the people about the wandering and meandering of demons on Earth (Adams, 2009). As a result, there was caution and concern among people from all quarters regarding the activity of witchcraft and black magic. This proves the common mindset of the society and the religious views and beliefs were blindly followed during those days; particularly when Christianity was almost occult. In the Salem Village (currently Denver, Massachusetts), people believed that ills and misfortunes were a result of the Devil s tricky activities. Hence, natural events such as infant deaths, failure of crops, conflicts and friction in the society were attributed to the supernatural powers. There were numerous accusations on witchcraft activities for all the unusual outbreak of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Basic Rules of Driving Before driving a car, you must learn first what road signs, colors, and sign shapes mean. You need to learn what the different road signs mean and what they look like. There are many signs which you must follow in order to get to your destination. It is very important that you learn all these before actually driving. Another thing you must know is which lane you must drive in and how to turn into a lane. The reason is because you cannot get into a car without knowing what to do while on the road. In order to drive a car you must first take drivers training, if you have never driven a car. Then you take a written test that includes all the information you have learned about the road. But, for now learning about signs and colors is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason is because there are so many things that a good driver needs to know. It is never good to go with your gut instinct because sometimes your instinct can be wrong. Driving is considered to be a privilege that is why you must earn your right to drive. It is easy for me to show you how to drive, but in order for me to do that I my self should be a good and licensed driver. Even having a license doesn t give anyone the right to teach a person how to drive behind the wheel. The only thing I can do is help you learn what you need to learn so you can become a ... The Help is set in the south of the United States in 1962, portraying the lives of black maids and the white women who employ them. The movie is full of sins including sins of commission, sins of omission, mortal sins, venial sins, and sinful social structures. At the beginning of the movie, we immediately encounter a sin of commission. Mae Mobley, a young two year old, is physically abused and neglected by her mother, Elizabeth. In one scene, Elizabeth strikes her daughter for sitting on a black person s toilet. Sins of commission are sins we commit by doing something we shouldn t do. It s the type of sin we are most familiar with. The poor young girl is treated so poorly for simply no reason. Elizabeth recognizes what she is doing is wrong yet continues to do so. ... • 5. Human Embryonic Stem Cells The human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) have defined by Bryant and Schwartz (2008) is in the mammalian embryo, there are several cell divisions that take place after the fertilization of the sperm and the egg in the uterus. There is no growth in the total volume of the cell, so the cells that are known as blastomeres get progressively smaller. Then, they are rearranging into a hollow ball known as blastocyst and surround the blastocoel which is a fluid filled cavity. The blastocyts and then segregate into an outer layer called tropoblast and an inner cell mass (ICM). The tropoblast will form the placenta to the fetus while the inner cell mass that contains human embryonic stem cell will form the tissues of the fetus. According to Sandel and Phil (2004), the hESCs can cure and provide treatment for many kinds of disease such as Parkinson, Alzheimer, diabetes and spinal cord injury. But, ethical issues of hESCs research, therefore, overlap with those of the embryo research. On top of that, De Wert and Mummery (2003) commented that the research of hESCs has high political and ethical agenda in many countries. Their use in the treatment of disease remains controversial regardless of their potential benefit. This is because their derivation from the early embryo. As Fischbach, Fischbach and others (2004) observe: Human embryonic stem cells offer the promise of a new regenerative medicine in which damaged adult cells can be replaced with new cells. If the person infected does not get immediate treatment, the disease will evolve. After the person gets bitten, they should receive first aid immediately. After that, the only way to stop the rabies from growing is a preventive treatment. • 7. The Theory Of Purchasing Power Parity David Ricardo came up with the theory of Purchasing Power Parity (PPP). PPP is an economic technique used to estimate the level of adjustment needed to arrive at an agreed exchange rate between two currencies in order that trade can effectively take place. When the price of two commodities from two different countries is converted into one currency, the price of both commodities should be the same. One way of determining the inter currency exchange rates is to carry out a PPP test. This test will also help to prevent commodity traders from buying cheaply and selling at significantly higher rates. The basic measure of PPP is the law of one price: Pi=EiP*i, where Ei is the exchange rate, Pi = log (CPI of the domestic country), and P*i= log (CPI of the foreign country). The equation means that the good i should have same price when the exchange rate is applied to it. This is because there is an arbitrage in exporting goods from the country that has a low price to a country that has a high price. In the long term, prices when converted into the same currency at market exchange rates , should be equal across economically integrated countries . • 8. Mark Wade Album Analysis Mark Wade is a proficient double bassist and composer who has been playing in NYC for two decades, showing off his fluid, athletic sound. The follow up to his widely recognized debut album, Event Horizon, is entitled Moving Day and like its previous, features a classic trio with Tim Harrison and Scott Neumann on piano and drums, respectively. Together, they achieve an impressive triangular tightness that can be heard without delay on the first track, the 6/4 post bop wonder that gave the album its title. It kicks off with the pianist delivering an ostinato, which, minutes later, is reutilized by the bassist to install the groove. The bandleader embarks on an effusive back and forth solo, discharging equal parts of melody and rhythm, and the energy doesn t faint when Neumann unleashes his clear sighted chops over a rock inflected vamp. ... The coolness of the piano solo brings nice melodies while the brushwork of the drummer is noticeable throughout the bass solo. It must be admitted that an increasing number of people are concerned about the usability of the Classical Theorists. However, whether it is suitable and widespread in daily management has caused heated debate. From my perspective, Fayol s standpoint is certainly universal in organisations and management today and I will discuss this in the following paragraphs. Firstly, it is obvious that Weber, who is also pioneer of Classical Theory have advanced authority and organisation is very essential in the society. This had close contribution to the opinion of Fayol as he classified to organise and to control are two of the five elements of the definition of management. The managers should build up the structure, material and human with legible control and inspection so the activities could be operate well by independent staff (Fayol, 1916). For her entire childhood, her parents did not even think she would amount to anything because she had no real skills, and her father did try and push her towards a life in science. However, in high school, Jeannette realized she had a passion for journalism; which is how she ended up turning herself into a success. Her story of triumph against all odds, and finding what someone really wants to do was what really inspired me. The theme of self realization in The Glass Castle of what a person s beliefs are even in the face of adversity is something I have been able to relate to in my life. For my entire life I have been raised Catholic, and for a while that is really all I knew. I was baptised as a baby, I was confirmed in second grade, I went to sunday school, and I ... I think one of the reasons I had not become atheist by the end of my sophomore year was because of a girl I started talking to. Her name was Laura, and I met her at the birthday party of my friend Michael. She was a pretty devout Catholic, and I guess I stayed religious because I was subconsciously afraid she would not feel the same way if I realized I was atheist, then told her that. However, once she found out that I was moving back to Ohio, we stopped talking. I then went most of my junior without even thinking of what my beliefs were. I went to church a little more that year, basically whenever my parents wanted me to, but I kind of stopped listening to what the priest was saying. • 35. Essay On Short Selling The far majority who invest in the stock market or a type of security hope that their investment escalates in value or price. However, others execute investments based on the opposite taking place; they hope that the price of the security declines. These investors are practicing short selling. Numerous renowned examples of short selling exist, one of which, the shorting of mortgage backed securities during the real estate bubble in 2008. A number of critics find short selling unethical while others feel it necessary to maintain a balance in the market. Mortgage bonds were a collection of thousands of home mortgages, purchased from lenders, and their associated income streams (monthly payment). To address the fact that some homeowners often refinance their debt when interest rates are low which prematurely pays off the debt, mortgage bonds were stacked into layers called tranches . The lowest tranche represented mortgages to be paid off early, and the highest layer was the last mortgages to be paid off. Then, in the 1990s, bonds were created consisting of subprime mortgages, which were higher risk mortgages with high interest rates, made to borrowers with lower credit levels. Essentially, banks were handing out mortgages like candy to consumers who were never going to be able to make the payments, but Wall Street kept buying and packaging the mortgages into bonds. Since these bonds were inherently riskier, one wonders why investors were still willing to buy. Investors, who look at ratings by agencies such as Moodys and Standard Poors, had no reason to believe these bonds were risky investments. The agencies, whom were being paid by Wall Street, were assigning high ratings to these risky bonds. Que the creation of the Collateralized Debt Obligation (CDO). The 400 mile wide storm brought heavy rains and winds in excess of 140 miles per hour to states along the gulf coast. The widespread devastation resulted in thousands of people in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama to be displaced from their homes, and experts estimate that Katrina caused more than $100 billion in damage (History.com). While the storm did cause significant damage, the primary cause of most of the devastation was the result of levees along the Inner Harbor Navigational Canal being breeched. With an average elevation of roughly two feet below sea level, the city of New Orleans suffered major devastation from flooding once the waters breeched the levees and walls; by some estimates more than 80% of the city was flooded. According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), there were 1,833 deaths attributed to the storm both directly and indirectly (FEMA.gov).
