The Need for Waste-to-energy on Ships
The Need for Waste to energy on Ships
Waste to energy power plants are lowering the amount of waste we have in landfills and turning that
into energy to meet industrial needs. What if there was a way to shrink these power plants and put
them onto cargo and passenger ships? According to the Palm Beach Post, the Environmental
Protection Agency says, a cruise ship with 3,000 passengers can generate 210,000 of gallons of waste
and sewage and 1 million gallons of grey water from showers and drains in a typical week. 1 Most of
the material that lands in these waters is not biodegradable. The majority of ships will dump their
waste into the ocean, while others will store it until they get back to land, only to dump the waste into
landfills.
There are four reasons why having small generators on ships would work:
1) The use of generators would create job opportunities;
2) The generators are environmentally safe;
3) There would be abundant source of waste to use as fuel; and
4) The generators would keep dangerous waste, like plastic, from entering the waters.
The technology to produce energy from waste has already been proven to work. With a small
generator, ships would be recycling the waste into energy that could be used for providing electricity,
transportation, and industrial needs.
Waste to nearby facilities have already proved to be a great investment on land.2 The facilities provide
financial and environment benefits to the communities

When People Hear The Word Doping, They Think Of Athletes
When people hear the word doping, they think of athletes using drugs such as, erythropoietin, so that
they will have an advantage in their sport. However, the doping we are talking about today is the type
where elements are added to semiconductors to change its characteristics. Doping is the process that
changes the electrical conductivity of a semiconductor, like silicon. Doping is done by adding foreign
elements to the semiconductor so that the amount of valence electrons changes.
A semiconductor is a material that partly conducts electricity, it is in between an insulator and a
conductor. Semiconductors have four electrons in their valence shell, and since there needs to be eight
in the shell for it to be stable, it just has to connect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through doping, it creates two groups of semiconductors, N type, which have a negative charge and P
type, which have a positive charge. These different types of semiconductors are very important to the
world, because when the different types are used together they can create devices with special
electrical devices that have the ability to control electrical signals. Before semiconductors there were
vacuum tubes, which did the same job as semiconductors, but they were not as fast or as small as
them. Vacuum tubes, however, are very rugged and durable they can go through temporary overload
conditions.
Doped semiconductors are very useful, as they make up the base for diodes. A diode is an electronic
component that is used to make signal limiters, voltage regulators, switches, etc. Doped
semiconductors also make transistors, they are devices that regulate the current flow and they act as a
switch or gate for electronic signals. Transistors have three layers of semiconductors and when one
layer senses a small change of current it creates a rapid change in the current through the whole
component. As one can see, doped semiconductors are very important as they make the base of many
electronic devices that we use daily The effects of doping semiconductors were known for a long time
in devices like crystal radio detectors and selenium rectifiers. In 1885 and 1930, Shellford Bidwell and

Essay On Minimum Wage
The Economic Effect of a Minimum Wage Increase in the Fast Food Industry
A question plaguing economists in the news the last couple of years is what would the effect of an
increase in the fast food industry minimum wage be for the workforce. Better yet, how would it effect
the fast food industry itself. There have been certain areas of the country that have already increased
fast food workers minimum wage, but the debate is would it work elsewhere. With the increase in the
demand from fast food workers for a minimum wage increase it has spurred on a heated debate what
the outcome would be with many believing that it would devastate the fast food workforce with a
large increase in workforce reduction enabling the fast food industry to keep it s ever growing profit
margin. However, there are those that would disagree with that assessment. The problem that is seen is
that both sides of this issue forget to take a step back and look at the whole picture like the smaller
group of economists have that understand that there is positive and negatives to the fast food industry
minimum wage increase. Also, with a look at the bigger picture it can be seen that with the minimum
wage increase in fast food jobs is farther reaching than just the fast food industry. It will unavoidably
affect many other industries across the U.S. with a demand for a nationwide federal minimum wage
increase as the fast food industry has laid the ground work for the how to guide for adjusting to a wage

The Raft of the Medusa by Theodore Gericault
The Raft of the Medusa by Theodore Gericault is considered by many to be one of the greatest
paintings of Romantic Art. Here I will discuss Romantic Art, some history behind the painting, the
painting in general, and to prove why the first statement is true. If we are going to call this painting
Romantic Art one must first know what it actually is or have some sort of idea what is counted as
Romanticism or as something that Romantics would do. Romanticism celebrates the spontaneity and
the use of the imagination. Abandoning tradition constraints of the art world to explore new and
creative ways of expression. Possibly seen as intuitive individualism and primacy of feeling.
Romantics didn t reject reason but though emotions were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He interviewed the survivors, drew mutilated corpses in the Paris morgue, and had a model created in
his studio of the raft. The painting was 16 feet 1 inch by 23 feet 6 inches so it is huge in size and the
dramatic impact was just as amazing. This gave the people a record of an event that happened in a
time before photography. At first glance a viewer might just see people huddled on a raft together, a
couple waving down a ship, and trying to get someone off canvases attention while others try to keep
those who are weaker on the raft. But if they look closer they might notice other things of interest that
are commonly found in Romanticism or Romantic Art. Gericault use of the double triangles in this
image of the mast and rope help keep the main focus on the people on the raft who are dying or dead.
Suffering against heat, dehydration, starvation, and forced to canalize each other to survive which is a
true struggle against nature but also against ones self. It would be a very horrific and emotional
experience for anyone to have to choose between eating another human being or dying of starvation.
He focuses on the true emotion, the disgusting horror of the event, and what had to be done or was
done to survive. It has very rustic looking colors in the image, reds, oranges, yellows, browns, blacks,
and grays that give it an autumn like color theme. This gives you a sense that they

Ruskin Bond Is Better Known As The Wordsworth Of Indian...
Ruskin Bond is better known as the Wordsworth of Indian English writing. He is primarily considered
as a nature writer. His writings are filled with extensive description of flora in all its manifestations.
After Bond shifted to Mussoorie, he trekked the Himalayan region at length and explored the
vegetation and prominent flowers, trees, orchids, bushes and shrubs there. He has particularly
mentioned the eastern and western Himalayas which he felt are home to rich Indian floral wealth. The
focus here will be on Ruskin s extensive description of the flora with a prime concern for readers to
develop eco consciousness and love for nature.
Key words: Himalayas, Flora, nature, landscape, orchids.
Introduction:
Ruskin Bond has vividly and extensively explored the fascinating world of flora. His knowledge of
the world of flora is astounding. He has been trekking up the Himalayan foothills since long. The way
he describes hundreds of species of trees, plants, shrubs, and flowers, leaves his readers amazed. He
writes like an expert botanist, but what is more important, he writes like a highly eco sensitive being
who is in love with all creations of the cosmos. While describing the flora on the mountains, he
informs his readers how the flora changes dramatically while ascending the foothills. His stories
revolve round these beautiful surroundings of Himalayan landscape. In his books he gives far reaching
details about the plants that are found there, right from their botanical

Who Is Iago A Villain
The character Iago is portrayed as the villain in this play. He is sometimes funny, but his foolishness
especially with Roderigo shows how manipulative he can be. Iago is also seen as deceiving and not
someone that can be trusted. Iago plans to plot revenge against Othello because he was not chosen as a
lieutenant. He tells Roderigo that his anger comes from Othello giving the promotion to Cassio, who
has no military experience, instead of him. Iago later reveals his true hatred toward Othello in (1.3.323
329) by stating that, I hate the Moor, And it is thought abroad that twixt my sheets. He s done my

Othello likes Cassio, but believes when Iago tells him that Cassio is having an affair with Desdemona.
The proof that Iago provides in (3.3.365) he plants a handkerchief in Cassio s room that he gets Emilia
to steal in (3.3). Iago s manipulative comes about when we find out the whole time while he was
plotting against Othello, he was using Roderigo as well. The whole time Roderigo is thinking that
Iago is helping him to be with Desdemona, but Roderigo finds out in (1) that Othello and Desdemona
had gotten married. When Roderigo discovers that he is being used, Iago stabs him in (5). When
Emilia enters the scene with the news that Roderigo is dead, Othello tells Emilia that he has killed his
wife because of what Iago has told her that his wife was unfaithful. Emilia then realizes the doing that
Iago is doing and decides to tell the secrets that Iago has been keeping. Othello is crushed and tries to
kill Iago, but cannot. Instead Iago kills his wife in (5.2) and runs. Othello finds out that everything that
Iago has told him was not true. Even though he has failed to kill Iago, he felt so much pain and regret
for killing his wife, so he ends up killing himself. We also learn that Iago actions are terrifying
because he was willing to take revenge on anyone and still enjoy the trouble and pain that he is
caused. At the end of the story Iago s fate is determined by Cassio. Iago was

Essay On Detective Fiction
Why we should read detective fiction.
We spend large parts of our lives in books about fiction. Not only in books but also through television
shows and films. Many people wonder if it is positive or negative to read Fiction? Society is changing
and is today surrounded by digital media that govern society. When society changes, it may in some
cases be enjoyable to escape from reality and this by reading detective fiction.
Britannica.com (Search word, Fiction history ,2017) explains that detective and crime related stories
are one of the most popular genres of fiction. The authors are many who have found inspiration from
the well known authors Edgar Allan Poe and Conan Doyle. What characterizes detective fiction is that
a crime is introduced and investigated and the culprit is revealed. Once a murder has been committed,

can disappear when something in life is hard. In addition, the books can make people believe, that
there are others living in the same situation as them. It also allows you to go on adventures in your
mind. You are becoming one with the character, and in fiction like the murder of the orientexpress , it
feels as if you are involved in the murder, that you are one of all the train travelers questioned by the

characters have become friends of you and now they are gone. Which in turn inspires you to read

Tom Brokaw’s The Greatest Generation Essay
Tom Brokaw s The Greatest Generation
In Tom Brokaw s book, The Greatest Generation, the author portrays ordinary people of a certain
generation as having qualities of greatness and heroism. He tells stories of average people that lived
inspiring lives through many hardships, and declares today s society as the beneficiary of their
challenging work and commitment. Brokaw s generous and proficient use of imagery helps to
persuade the reader to believe that the people of the greatest generation are, indeed, heroic. He defines
the strength and resilience of the greatest generation by what they were able to confront and
overcome.

What those unsuspecting infants could not have realized, of course, was that these were temporary
conditions, a false spring to life that would be buffeted by winds of change dangerous and
unpredictable, so fierce that they threatened not just America but the very future of the planet. (p4)
Brokaw s use of imagery here helps the reader understand the drastic nature of the change that
occurred in the world between the 1920s and 1940s. He is stating that the youth of our nation was
living in a safe harbor for only a short period of time, almost as if under false pretenses, and that this
promising future of America veered radically off a path as they had to face the unprecedented crash of
the stock market, with damage so great that over a thousand banks would close, millions of people
would become unemployed and homeless, and an overwhelming sense of economic calamity would
sweep the feet out from under their fragile vision of security. Brokaw described this in the chapter
titled The Time of their Lives, as a time when A mass of homeless and unemployed drifted across the
American landscape. (p7) This gives the reader an image of millions of people hopelessly wandering
the country in search for work to survive. The

Rosencrantz Exile
When one is exiled from home, it is a terrifying, lonely experience. When two are exiled from home, it
becomes something much greater. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern do not have a specific place they call
home in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. If they did, they probably would not remember it.
Their home is their experience with and understanding of the world around them. Yet, they are exiled
from this home. They are never fully able to understand the world around them and have to face the
consequences of this. Exile is an enriching experience for them, helping them learn more about the
world. On the other hand, exile is alienating, and it takes away their ability to distinguish reality and
their sense of control. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern repeatedly experience one truth: those that have
not experienced exile cannot truly understand its consequences. In the first scene of the play, the
audience experiences how enriching exile can be. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern ... Show more content

truth by this game of questions. Had they been in better communication with Claudius, Gertrude, and
the rest of the castle, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern would not have needed to play the game of
questions and would not have discovered how Hamlet felt about the whole affair. In this situation,

Stylistic Comparison Essay examples
When an artist creates a painting it is not only to make a picture. Its purpose is to create a feeling or
mood. Usually drawing more than an ordinary moment in life, usually stirring some kind of emotion
that the artist is passionate about he hopes the viewer will feel. This is the purpose and beauty of art.
Throughout history, the arts have been a form of rationalization in the mind of an artist. The
progression of knowledge over a period of time can be mapped by many artists masterpieces. This
shift in time can be seen in the romantic style of Eugene Delacroix s, Paganini, and the neo classical
style of Jean Louis David s, The Emperor Napoleon in His Study. These two portraits reveal a
completely different style; however they both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lighting and placement are very prominent. The light hues of the paint draw your eyes directly to
Paganini s face and delicate hands on the violin. This dark contrast makes the images jump out at you,
creating drama and intrigue. It leaves me wondering what lies in the black luminous area surrounding
the violinist. Delacroix places the main figure directly in the center giving the viewer one principle
element to focus on. This places the audience right at eye level with the accomplished musician. As if
you were there listening to him playing a concerto. You are enthralled by the deep concentration
shown on his face. His intensity is clear but at the same time distant and illusory. This continually
draws your attention to the emotions of this great man. He looks as if he can feel the music running
through his body, touching every inch of his soul. The representation of Paganini flows in a circular
motion. You can feel the flow of his body, from his face to his outstretched leg. Each part of his body
drifts together with a clear pattern of movement. The artist drew the body in the form of a triangle
from his head down to his separated legs. His story is told through this illusion of depth and theatrical
mirage filled with dramatic intention. In this painting, Delacroix uses color, light and shadow to direct
attention to the intense musician. With this new romantic style came a greater

Summary Of Nathan Jergenson s The IRL Fetish

this so called Fetish that we have with technology today. Within this essay Jergenson uses specific
word choice in his essay to strengthen his argument about being connected. He uses quotes from other

Finally, Jergenson also talks about the little victories that we have with technology, like logging off ,

Jengenson also makes a point about how people are proud to be logged off. And I 100% agree with
him. I for one have been guilty of being proud for not using my phone, at things like the being at

Analyze Rape As A Tool Of War
Analyze Rape as a tool of war under light of decisions by ICTY and the ICTR?
Rape is one of the most horrific things to happen anyone during wartime. If one studies the role of
rape in war it will include rape both as a consequence of war and method of war. Many cultures have a
stigma to rape and those who are raped are shunned by their communities. Rape is used because it
indicates dominance. Women have been victims of various forms of sexual violence over the years but
rape only became a war crime around the 1990s.The Serb forces for example raped around 20,000 to
50,000 women in the Bosnian war apart from using usual warfare methods of warfare such as

The Hague convention respecting the customs and laws of war on land does state in part that the

ICTR rape was prohibited by the Geneva Convention in 1949 after the Second World War the
provisions regarding rape were meant to protect the honor of women .Rape is also especially
prohibited in 1997 Protocol additional to the Geneva Conventions. These coincided with shifting
perceptions that men did not use rape because they were deprived of female companionship during
war time but instead they used it as a war tactic. As rape was not an issue in Nuremburg trials that
played an important part in setting precedents for issues of war crimes in international law so it took a
long time for rape to be made a part of international law. Though the Article 27 of the fourth Geneva
Convention prohibited rape it was more of a symbolic gesture because the world community did not
pay sufficient attention to the issue until 1990s. With the coming of the twentieth century and
especially after the World War two human rights protection has gained much importance but rape did
receive much attention compared to other atrocities till the Bosnian war. Rape is now treated as war
crime and crime against humanity. The incidents of Rape in Yugoslavia caught the attention of the

Essay about Copmaring Shakespeare s Sonnets 116 and 147
Copmaring Shakespeare s Sonnets 116 and 147
Light/Dark. Comfort/Despair. Love/Hate. These three pairs of words manage to sum up William
Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 and Sonnet 147, while also demonstrating the duality of Shakespeare s
heart. Sonnet 116 reveals to a careful reader the aspects of Shakespeare s concept of what ideal love is.
However, Sonnet 147 shows the danger of believing in this ideal form of love. These two sonnets
perfectly complement and clarify each other while also giving the reader insight into William
Shakespeare s life. To understand these two sonnets completely, one must first have a little
background information concerning the sequence of the Sonnets and William Shakespeare s life. ...

Each poem reflects the emotions that Shakespeare experiences with the duality of his love. Although
each of these poems only show one half of this duality, Sonnet 144 expresses both while giving a
further basis for the understanding of Sonnet 116 and Sonnet 147. Sonnet 144 opens with the line Two
loves I have of comfort and despair, (1). When used as a foundation, this opening line reveals that the
reader can expect one of the two sonnets to deal with the comfort of love while the other deals with
the despair of love. Shakespeare goes on to say, The better angel is a man right fair, / The worser spirit
a woman, colored ill. (144.3 4) which shows that he considers his young friend to be the comfort
aspect of love and his dark woman to be the despair aspect of love. Shakespeare goes on to say that
the dark woman tempted his young friend from his side. This shows that an affair has occurred
between the young man and the dark woman. Taking this poem as a basis, the reader can better
understand how Sonnet 116 deals with the comfort of love and how Sonnet 147 deals with the despair
of love. Sonnet 116 can be viewed by the reader in two different ways. It can be seen as a soliloquy by
the author written to his young friend about their friendship or it can be seen as a letter written to the
young friend about Shakespeare s view of what ideal love is. In either case, it was written after the

Truth In The Colbert Report
True, as it is defined today as in accordance with fact or reality , was first recorded c.1200 (Online
Etymology Dictionary). True derives from the Old English triewe (West Saxon), treowe (Mercian),
meaning, faithful and trustworthy, from the Proto Germanic word trewwjaz, meaning having or
characterized by good faith . True, along with firm , strong , and sure is ultimately rooted in PIE dru,
meaning tree and steadfast as an oak (Online Etymology Dictionary). In mid 14c, truth was first
defined to denote a sense of something that is true , particularly in contrast to lie (Harper, 2017).
Historically, truth and what is true was a notion rooted in factual evidence and reality. In alignment

In 2009, the Nigerian writer Chimanda Ngozi Adichie presented a TED Talk where she spoke about
the danger of a single story . Upon moving to America from Nigeria, Adichie was surprised to
discover that American media presented a single image of Africa as an AIDS invested, poverty
stricken, catastrophic country (Adichie, 2009). The TED talk explains that truth is often incomplete, as
stereotypes and single stories are repeated indefinitely until they become accepted as fact. Virtual
algorithms effectively work to craft the illusion that there is only one narrative, as social media users
are entrapped in a filter bubble where they can only see content that aligns with their previously
tracked interests and beliefs (The Economist, 2016). As such, one s entire online world is crafted to
adhere and reinforce their believed truths, yet in reality, the content shown is only a small portion of
reality. When we reject the single story, when we realize that there is never a single story about any
place , Adichie claims, we regain a kind paradise (2009). Thus, For Adichie, the search for truth in a
world filled with untruthful stereotypes is a pursuit for paradise. In other words, exposing truth will set

significance and importance to the Australian culture. Every country has icons that represent their
culture and values; Nelson Mandela is an example of a South African icon but also an icon of the
world, who represented statesmanship, courage, freedom and equality against apartheid. Australia also
has many significant icons such as the Sydney Opera House, Uluru, vegemite, Ned Kelly, and the
Koala to name a few. These have all played significant parts in Australia s background, culture and
values.

In their language this meant I don t know which is supposedly how the kangaroo got its name.
Aboriginal tribes have many different legends regarding the kangaroo and some see it as a
reincarnation of their ancestors. Over the past 200 or so years, the kangaroo has broadened a lot in
historical significance; it is one of the oldest icons of Australia and therefore should be kept that way.
By contributing the Kangaroo to a National Australian exhibition, it will help to keep the icon of the
kangaroo alive and significant.
The kangaroo represents Australia s cultural and social background and is internationally recognisable.
It represents the Australian character in many ways including: Its size, strength and speed, which make
it a national logo/emblem for Australian organisations and especially sporting clubs. Kangaroo s are
also symbolic of another Australian trait; to stick up for your self and not back down. With their large
feet and long tail kangaroos find it hard to move backwards, indicating that Australians are people
who are moving forward and growing as people of Australia.

The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald And Soldier s...
In 1920s, America undergoes a period of cultural and social revolution. After the shocks by the chaos
and violence of WWI, with a burst of economy which brought unprecedented levels of prosperity to
the country, the generation turned into a lifestyle of wild and extravagant. Both published in 1925, the
time when the jazz age at it s peak, The great Gatsby by Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald and Soldier s
Home by Ernest Hemingway depict the fragmentation of the soared society by narrating the
experience of characters. Soldiers Home and The Great Gatsby show some aspect of the society at
their time, though not as a major intent of the books, and we can see how the trend of the society
influenced people. Both pieces of work have settings in the same time period, 1920s, but slightly
different interval. In Soldier s Home, Krebs returned to his hometown about one year after the war.
The celebration has already ended and people get to their daily life, after enough talks over the events
experienced by the returning soldiers. There s a scene about Krebs sitting on the bench, seeing the
pretty girls on the street, He has the thought Nothing was changed in the town except that the young
girls had grown up. But they lived in such a complicated world ...that Krebs did not feel the energy or
the courage to break into it. (Hemingway 2) The girls in the town apparently triggered Krebs s
thought. The young girls in town are...unaffected by the war. They were a nice pattern to

Traits Of Raskolnikov
Raskolnikov is depicted as crushed by poverty, but the anxieties of his position had of late ceased to
weigh upon him (Dostoyevsky 3). During 1861, the Emancipation Reform had recently taken place.
After the defeat of Russia in the Crimean War, Russian officials declared to give rights to the serfs.
The serfs were treated poorly leading to protests and eventually leading to the Reform. The
Emancipation Reform put Russia backward socially and economically. The serfdom illustrated Russia

Christian Theology And Psychology Is Necessary
Living in a pluralistic world naturally lends its inhabitants to a culture plentiful of varying belief
systems in which integration becomes beneficial, as opposed to detrimental. Theology, or more
specifically Christianity, and the field of psychology are central ideologies that often call into question
the need for unification. The intermingling of the two for certain people is logical; whereas, others
view them as absolutely distinct with no benefit of integrating. Either standpoint offers valid claims
with both being worthy of examination.
The idea of whether or not integrating Christian theology with psychology is necessary is well stated
by David Cartwright (2010), a professor at Colorado Christian University, in that this depends on one
s perspective (Integration of..., Video 1). Certain Christian circles believe that not only should these
two areas be interrelated, but they also naturally are, as all things fall under God s realm of creation.
Yet, other believers stake their claim in a different camp with the mindset that theology and
psychology should never intersect, let alone meld into one another. On the opposite end of the
spectrum, this question is a moot point for one who adheres to an atheistic worldview. Personally, my
stance follows a Christ centered worldview, thus, aligning with author David Entwistle s proposal of
the allies approach. Truth originates with God, and either discipline affords one the means to seek out

The Necklace
Every single story in the entire world has character development in some form. In the story The
Necklace, written by Guy de Maupassant, Mathilde, a middle classed woman that has always wanted
to be wealthy, loses a necklace that was not hers. She does not tell the person that gave it to her and
this causes a lot of problems, including her having to get the money back. Mathilde ends up buying a
real diamond necklace not knowing that the necklace that she lost was only paste. Through these trials
of loss and stress, the author shows the real character of Mathilde. Authors use these trials to develop
the character. How doe Guy de Maupassant do it? He develops the character of Mathilde by showing
her comments, feelings, and general attitude for things.
Whenever the author shows Mathilde s comments, it develops her character. In the story it says And

that? This evidence shows that Mathilde s character blames her troubles on other people and that she

Argumentative Essay On Community Colleges
Community colleges are meant to be largely funded by tuition localities and states. However, as
reported by the Washington Post, this is not the case in Florida (Danielle 2016). In 2008, the counties
offered no support to the community colleges because of the financial crisis. This has changed over
the past few years, though very little funding is still given to the community colleges by the counties.
Since community colleges are meant to offer opportunities to people who cannot continue with higher
education, the needs of these students may be higher than the funding that the county offers for tuition.
As a result, the community colleges are divided into bronze, silver and gold schools. The largest share
is allocated to the gold schools whereas the silver and bronze receive smaller shares or none at all for
the bronze schools. Most students in Florida are encouraged to pass through community colleges
before proceeding to universities to polish their grades (Danielle 2016). Florida s universities on the
other hand get funded by both federal and state government. There are other ways in which these

follows the devil deep into the forest, not knowing what he would encounter, but he is very confident
that he can handle it. The temptation of the devil has begun when Goodman falls behind and the devil

Goodman prides himself by telling the devil that he and his family have been a race of honest men and
good Christian, but the devil exploits something that shocks Goodman. The devil tells Goodman that
his family and whole community went through the forest with the devil as they tortured women in
Salem or burned the villages of Indians to the ground, and afterwards the devil and his ancestors
would go for a pleasant walk. Goodman s journey continues undisturbed until he meets his old
catechism teacher, Goody Cloyse, who has changed dramatically. Goody Cloyse already has
acquitance with the devil, and she asks the devil for help so she can get to the meeting. The devil
drops the staff before her which made Goodman Brown astonished. Although this view deters
confidence, he continues down the trail looking for hope in the heavens passing another test to fail

Julius Caesar as the Noblest Roman of Them All
In William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar the victorious Mark Antony calls his rival Brutus, the noblest
Roman of them all . At the start of the play we witnessed Cassius persuade Brutus to join a conspiracy
to kill Caesar.
In my essay I intend to discuss four main characters in order to prove or disapprove Mark Antony s
statement.
The play starts off with Julius Caesar entering Rome after his victory in the civil war against Pompey.
Some of the conspirators feel that Caesar has become too powerful so they conceive a plan to kill him.

they both decide not to. They also have an argument later in act 4 because Brutus accuses Cassius of

Classical Conditioning Phobias
Many people have severe phobias and report feelings of anxiety and panic when confronted with these
fears. Learning principles may help explain why this anxiety may provide possible solutions. Some
with phobias, report a shortness of breath and a racing heartbeat when confronted with their fear. One
reaction may be a girl who was bitten by a men stray dog. This girl, let s call her Sally, now cries or
cowers behind something whenever a dog is near. Using classical conditioning we can see how this

Sally is hysterical, the pain makes her scream as she tries to run away from the dog and hide. This is a
normal response for a child to have. This helps her remember that dogs are bad, in her mind she feels
this, she has been through and experience in which it has stamped itself into her brain. Now the CS
(Conditioned Stimulus) is the dog itself, or dogs in general. The sight of a dog or even a bark or growl
can set little Sally off in a crying or cowering manner. The dog, or dogs, become the conditioned
stimulus because it is the memory of the previous interaction. After it is all said and done, the sight of
the dog or dogs will set her off yes. She will feel panicked and have shortness of breath., When you

makes you feel shut inside a small cube, one that you cannot get out. So Sally panics and she tried to

NOT for nothing did the Beach Boys produce all that wonderful music in the 1960s. If you have ever

Toyota Motor Corporation ( Japan ) Essay
Toyota Motor Corporation (Japanese Toyota Jidōsha KK) became the largest automobile manufacturer
in the world for the first time in 2008. The company has acquired over 600 subsidiary companies; they
specialize in the production of automobiles, auto parts, commercial and industrial vehicles. In 1936
they produced the first Toyota a Model AA Sedan, the company rapidly began to grow but, was faced
with an economic crisis after World War II which forced them to stop the production of automobiles.
Toyota managed to reopen production factories by the 1950s, they began to research and study on how
to improve the production of cars, in fact; they used a lot of fundamental ideas from the Ford Motor
Company to develop their production factories and of course, made the designs more efficient. In
1957 Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., was established, and they released the Toyopet sedan the
following year which was a flop due to cost and performance. 1958 a utility vehicle Land Cruiser
ended up doing much better in sales than the Toyopet. After going back to the drawing board, the
Toyota Corona released with became a big hit in the US. Toyota rapidly began to expand the company

Essay on Frail Ophelia of Hamlet
Frail Ophelia of Hamlet
Throughout Hamlet, Shakespeare makes it evident that Ophelia is very unstable. She continuously
changes her mind about the way she feels. Laertes and Polonius command her to do things that she
does not agree with, but she does them with no argument. Afraid to stand up for herself, she stands
back and watches everyone else control her life. In Shakespeare s Hamlet, Ophelia is treated as a
marionette with her strings in the hands of the people around her; however, Kenneth Branagh portrays
her as independent and innocent, ignoring Shakespeare s representation of her as feeble minded
through complete male dominance in her thoughts and actions, her indecisiveness, and digression into
madness.

He goes on to say she is unable to think for herself, untruthful and insincere. Ophelia takes his words
to heart and promises to remember what he has told her. In Branagh s movie, he makes this scene look
as though Ophelia and Laertes are having a normal conversation. The slanderous words thrown
towards Ophelia do not seem to bother her; she goes on about her business as though her brother has
praised her instead of insulted her. Ophelia cannot stand on her own because she relies too much on
the directions given to her by her father and brother.
Ophelia has trouble deciding whether or not she loves Hamlet or thinks he loves her because she does
not know how to understand her own feelings. This comes from always letting everyone else tell her
what she should think. Polonius questions her about the many tenders of affection Hamlet has shown
her and she replies, I do not know, my lord, what I should think (1.3.104 105). Later she says that she
thinks Hamlet goes mad over her. Throughout the play she contradicts herself, showing she is
ambivalent and has no set thoughts; she thinks whatever the person around her at that moment thinks.
Ophelia s madness comes about because she cannot stand on her own and focuses too much on the
bad things around her. She is very pessimistic; she constantly

position that left Canada trying to deal all by itself with a partner fifteen times its weight. The war had
also demonstrated that Canadian interests and concerns of nuclear weapons. Starting from 1963, US
nuclear warheads armed Canadian weapons systems in both Canada and West Germany. It is likely

Canada already provided raw material, including uranium one from a northern mine which may have
been used in the construction of the atom bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima in 1945 and in order
to be influential, Canada had to contribute to continental or European defence in a meaningful way,
and many allies believed this could be done only with nuclear weapons . Of note, Canada had
identified alliance warfare as the only viable option for

  • 2. The Need for Waste-to-energy on Ships The Need for Waste to energy on Ships Waste to energy power plants are lowering the amount of waste we have in landfills and turning that into energy to meet industrial needs. What if there was a way to shrink these power plants and put them onto cargo and passenger ships? According to the Palm Beach Post, the Environmental Protection Agency says, a cruise ship with 3,000 passengers can generate 210,000 of gallons of waste and sewage and 1 million gallons of grey water from showers and drains in a typical week. 1 Most of the material that lands in these waters is not biodegradable. The majority of ships will dump their waste into the ocean, while others will store it until they get back to land, only to dump the waste into landfills. There are four reasons why having small generators on ships would work: 1) The use of generators would create job opportunities; 2) The generators are environmentally safe; 3) There would be abundant source of waste to use as fuel; and 4) The generators would keep dangerous waste, like plastic, from entering the waters. The technology to produce energy from waste has already been proven to work. With a small generator, ships would be recycling the waste into energy that could be used for providing electricity, transportation, and industrial needs. Waste to nearby facilities have already proved to be a great investment on land.2 The facilities provide financial and environment benefits to the communities ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. When People Hear The Word Doping, They Think Of Athletes When people hear the word doping, they think of athletes using drugs such as, erythropoietin, so that they will have an advantage in their sport. However, the doping we are talking about today is the type where elements are added to semiconductors to change its characteristics. Doping is the process that changes the electrical conductivity of a semiconductor, like silicon. Doping is done by adding foreign elements to the semiconductor so that the amount of valence electrons changes. A semiconductor is a material that partly conducts electricity, it is in between an insulator and a conductor. Semiconductors have four electrons in their valence shell, and since there needs to be eight in the shell for it to be stable, it just has to connect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through doping, it creates two groups of semiconductors, N type, which have a negative charge and P type, which have a positive charge. These different types of semiconductors are very important to the world, because when the different types are used together they can create devices with special electrical devices that have the ability to control electrical signals. Before semiconductors there were vacuum tubes, which did the same job as semiconductors, but they were not as fast or as small as them. Vacuum tubes, however, are very rugged and durable they can go through temporary overload conditions. Doped semiconductors are very useful, as they make up the base for diodes. A diode is an electronic component that is used to make signal limiters, voltage regulators, switches, etc. Doped semiconductors also make transistors, they are devices that regulate the current flow and they act as a switch or gate for electronic signals. Transistors have three layers of semiconductors and when one layer senses a small change of current it creates a rapid change in the current through the whole component. As one can see, doped semiconductors are very important as they make the base of many electronic devices that we use daily The effects of doping semiconductors were known for a long time in devices like crystal radio detectors and selenium rectifiers. In 1885 and 1930, Shellford Bidwell and Bernhard Gudden ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay On Minimum Wage The Economic Effect of a Minimum Wage Increase in the Fast Food Industry A question plaguing economists in the news the last couple of years is what would the effect of an increase in the fast food industry minimum wage be for the workforce. Better yet, how would it effect the fast food industry itself. There have been certain areas of the country that have already increased fast food workers minimum wage, but the debate is would it work elsewhere. With the increase in the demand from fast food workers for a minimum wage increase it has spurred on a heated debate what the outcome would be with many believing that it would devastate the fast food workforce with a large increase in workforce reduction enabling the fast food industry to keep it s ever growing profit margin. However, there are those that would disagree with that assessment. The problem that is seen is that both sides of this issue forget to take a step back and look at the whole picture like the smaller group of economists have that understand that there is positive and negatives to the fast food industry minimum wage increase. Also, with a look at the bigger picture it can be seen that with the minimum wage increase in fast food jobs is farther reaching than just the fast food industry. It will unavoidably affect many other industries across the U.S. with a demand for a nationwide federal minimum wage increase as the fast food industry has laid the ground work for the how to guide for adjusting to a wage ... • 5. The Raft of the Medusa by Theodore Gericault The Raft of the Medusa by Theodore Gericault is considered by many to be one of the greatest paintings of Romantic Art. Here I will discuss Romantic Art, some history behind the painting, the painting in general, and to prove why the first statement is true. If we are going to call this painting Romantic Art one must first know what it actually is or have some sort of idea what is counted as Romanticism or as something that Romantics would do. Romanticism celebrates the spontaneity and the use of the imagination. Abandoning tradition constraints of the art world to explore new and creative ways of expression. Possibly seen as intuitive individualism and primacy of feeling. Romantics didn t reject reason but though emotions were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He interviewed the survivors, drew mutilated corpses in the Paris morgue, and had a model created in his studio of the raft. The painting was 16 feet 1 inch by 23 feet 6 inches so it is huge in size and the dramatic impact was just as amazing. This gave the people a record of an event that happened in a time before photography. At first glance a viewer might just see people huddled on a raft together, a couple waving down a ship, and trying to get someone off canvases attention while others try to keep those who are weaker on the raft. But if they look closer they might notice other things of interest that are commonly found in Romanticism or Romantic Art. Gericault use of the double triangles in this image of the mast and rope help keep the main focus on the people on the raft who are dying or dead. Suffering against heat, dehydration, starvation, and forced to canalize each other to survive which is a true struggle against nature but also against ones self. It would be a very horrific and emotional experience for anyone to have to choose between eating another human being or dying of starvation. Christian Theology And Psychology Is Necessary Living in a pluralistic world naturally lends its inhabitants to a culture plentiful of varying belief systems in which integration becomes beneficial, as opposed to detrimental. Theology, or more specifically Christianity, and the field of psychology are central ideologies that often call into question the need for unification. The intermingling of the two for certain people is logical; whereas, others view them as absolutely distinct with no benefit of integrating. Either standpoint offers valid claims with both being worthy of examination. The idea of whether or not integrating Christian theology with psychology is necessary is well stated by David Cartwright (2010), a professor at Colorado Christian University, in that this depends on one s perspective (Integration of..., Video 1). Certain Christian circles believe that not only should these two areas be interrelated, but they also naturally are, as all things fall under God s realm of creation. Yet, other believers stake their claim in a different camp with the mindset that theology and psychology should never intersect, let alone meld into one another. On the opposite end of the spectrum, this question is a moot point for one who adheres to an atheistic worldview. Personally, my stance follows a Christ centered worldview, thus, aligning with author David Entwistle s proposal of the allies approach. • 28. Argumentative Essay On Community Colleges Community colleges are meant to be largely funded by tuition localities and states. However, as reported by the Washington Post, this is not the case in Florida (Danielle 2016). In 2008, the counties offered no support to the community colleges because of the financial crisis. This has changed over the past few years, though very little funding is still given to the community colleges by the counties. Since community colleges are meant to offer opportunities to people who cannot continue with higher education, the needs of these students may be higher than the funding that the county offers for tuition. As a result, the community colleges are divided into bronze, silver and gold schools. The largest share is allocated to the gold schools whereas the silver and bronze receive smaller shares or none at all for the bronze schools. Most students in Florida are encouraged to pass through community colleges before proceeding to universities to polish their grades (Danielle 2016).
