How Did Johannes Veermeer Use Of Visual Realism
Two artists in history are widely known for their abilities to depict scenes in such realistic manners
that you would never know they are actually paintings. These two artists were named Albert Bierstadt
and Johannes Vermeer. Both men came from different times and different ethnic settings. Dutchman,
Johannes Vermeer was born in the year 1632 and passed away tragically in 1675. Over his lifetime
Vermeer put his soul into his paintings, causing modern day historians and art lovers to struggle to
figure out how he painted such realistic scenes. His style of painting combined many pictorial depth
cues while maintaining realism throughout the relatively few paintings he produced. Then there is the
Prussian artist, Albert Bierstadt, who was born ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the case of Vermeer, his paintings The Music Lesson and The Concert both focus on individuals
comfortable in their everyday settings during the 1600 s. The emotions that are given off to the
viewers through the use of realism through the topics in both of the paintings, would be respectful and
understanding. However, in The Music Lesson, Vermeer added a sense of warmth and gentleness to
the individuals painted through added help of color perspective with the clothing and objects
surrounding them being much more vibrant. In The Concert, Vermeer added a sense of warmth
through color perspective with only a small ray of light shining on the women, while leaving the man
darker to invoke a sense of focus on his activities. Focusing still on color, another tool Vermeer used
to create a sense of visual realism was the use of shading. Shading is another pictorial depth cue that
allows for a painter to create a three dimensional appearance to a two dimensional painting through
the use of darker colors for the shadows of objects. In The Music Lesson, one of the most obvious
uses of shading appears with the use of a shadow behind the painting above the piano, caused by the
painting hanging forward. Another example of where shading was used, was with the shadows from
the legs of the piano itself on the wall. In The Concert, Vermeer uses shading in a more subtle manner
with the most obvious use of shading being the shadow cast from the painting hanging on the wall.
The subtlest use of shading would be the shadows that appear on the individuals clothing caused by
the folds of the material and objects preventing light from reaching the cloth. Vermeer also used the
pictorial depth cues of linear perspective and size perspective which focus on framing the painting in
real world size and creating a vanishing point. In The Concert, linear

Taking a Look at Global Warming
Natural and anthropogenic substances like green house gases that alter earth s energy budget are
drivers of climate change. Radiative forcing (RF) quantifies the change in energy fluxes caused by
changes in these drivers and positive RF leads to surface warming. The largest contribution to total RF
is caused by the increase in the atmospheric concentration of CO2 (1.68 W m 2) followed by CH4,
Halo carbons and N2O since 1750 (IPCC 2013). According to IPCC 2013 the CO2 concentrations will
raise unprecedentedly from 391 Parts per million (p.p.m) in 2011 to 550 700 p.p.m. by 2050 and to
670 936 by 2100. Ironically, most of the CO2 is mitigated by plants with photosynthetic reaction that
converts solar energy into energy stored in carbohydrates. A lot of research has been done through last
few decades, to investigate elevated CO2 induced changes in plants and to identify potential candidate
tree species that sequester more CO2 under elevated CO2. Elevated CO2 enhances photosynthetic
rate, reduces stomatal conductance resulting in a higher amount of plant mass and yield.
Photosynthesis and growth of most plants are stimulated by elevated atmospheric CO2 concentrations
(Schortemeyer 2002). The continuous stimulation of photosynthesis in C3 plants by elevated CO2
increases the availability of carbohydrates and in doing so, alters the balance of C and N resources.
The main C N interactions proposed to influence responses to elevated CO2 include down regulation
of leaf N

Heat and Iron
A clothing iron, also called a flatiron or simply an iron, is a small appliance: a handheld piece of
equipment with a flat, roughly triangular surface that, when heated, is used to press clothes to remove
creases. It is named for the metal of which the device is commonly made, and the use of it is generally
called ironing. Ironing works by loosening the ties between the long chains of molecules that exist in
polymer fiber materials. With the heat and the weight of the ironing plate, the fibers are stretched and
the fabric maintains its new shape when cool. Some materials, such as cotton, require the use of water
to loosen the intermolecular bonds. Many materials developed in the twentieth century are advertised
as needing little or no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to How Things Work in Your Home by Time Life Books, a heat control lever rotates a cam
that regulates the opening between the contacts located on the thermostat. A steam valve attached to a
vapor chamber located above the heating element opens up when the correct temperature is reached
and water enters the chamber and is converted into steam. From there, the water is converted to steam,
which exits from the soleplate at the bottom of the iron through the ports. On the top of the iron, a
pump draws water from the reservoir and sprays it through the nozzle.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance
Most problems occur when an iron is either dropped, the cord is frayed or mineral deposits from hard
water clog the ports. Time Life recommends that irons be rinsed after use and a small brush used to
clean the ports. To clean the aluminum soleplate on the bottom of the iron, use a solution of one part
baking soda to two parts water on a cloth. Use a soapy scouring pad to clean steel soleplates.
Whichever type of cleaning method is used, dry the iron thoroughly. After heating it up over the
lowest setting, run the iron over a piece of wax paper and then a dry cloth, according to Time Life.
Irons with nonstick soleplates should be cleaned with a damp sponge or cloth to avoid damage to the
coating. Nicks can be buffed out with an emery board.
Cords should be replaced if the iron does not heat. This can be a do it yourself project, according to
Time Life;

Destruction In Lord Of The Flies Essay
Title In the Lord of the Flies by William Golding, he uses the idea of good and evil throughout the
story to describe these kids and one of the ways he does this is through the theme war leads to
destruction showing the true inner evil even in the most innocent things in life.He uses the idea of war
as his main plot point and the perfect medium to connect the crashing of the plane to being rescued by
a naval officer. When the boys crash on the island due to being attacked, they were ironically rescued
by a naval officer preparing to go back ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the first time jacks true feelings come out and he turns into psycho jack which is connected
with the theme. This Scene we get with jack shows the importance of this topic and how it has a
deeper meaning. Jack s departure from the boys sparks a civil war in between them and ultimately
creating a giant war that lead to death of some of the boys. Jacks uprising or rebellion is hinted early
in the book but he shows his true side leaving Ralph s group. This action by jack creates the events of
piggy and simons death but creates the reason they are rescued. Jacks new aggression embodies war
and destruction itself and is a monster. When jack breaks out against Ralph he not only defeats him
but he shows that Ralph is weak eventually taking everyone Ralph has by torture or death. Nearing the
end of the story piggy is killed this is the breaking point for both Ralph and jack and breaks into total
war between the two once jack sees his

Investigating The Ph With Potentiometric Measurement Using...
pH measurements and their application
Purpose: The motive of this experiment is to determine the pH with potentiometric measurement using
a pH meter and electrode.
Procedure: In this lab we worked with several compounds, and we titrated an unknown weak acid as
well as a known amount of potassium hydrogen phthalate. On day one we were tasked with filling
several test tubes with a few milliliters of various solutions (pH 7, HCl, deionized water, H3BO3
NaHCO3, etc.) and evaluating the pH of each substance (refer to table I). The pH was evaluated using
a pH meter as well as an electrode. Before the evaluation was performed, the pH meter/ electrode were
calibrated using the instructions given in the box. The calibration was necessary in order ... Show

Asian Stereotypes in the Media
Introduction By definition, Media Literacy is defined as the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, and
create media. The power of the media should not be underestimated. Millions of teens and adults
spend hours watching television and surfing the web on a daily basis. With the use of media literacy,
these individuals that utilize hours of their daily lives can be protected from pressures of media
disinformation that also pushes them to become the idealistic human model it wishes them to be. By
teaching majority of our communities about media literacy, we can free them from the standardized
pressures of society itself. These free beings will no longer feel the needs to live up to the expectations
of the media as they will discover the falsified truth when analyzed deeply. Educating the population
will not only free their minds mentally, but it will strengthen their capability of thinking also. Media
Literacy provides opportunities for anyone to build communication skills, boost his or her confidents
to interpret multiple media sources at the same time, and as well as realistically designating the
portrayal of his or her position along with others in a perspective view. One can take advantage of
media literacy to improve his or her media use habits, such as constant television viewing behaviors.
With the impact of educating the life of an individual with Media Literacy, we can advance the
habitual uses of media of that human being s family and develop more intellectual

Polyaniline Essay
Much waste heat of low temperature is released and no viable technology exists can produce
electricity from this low energy density heat, so the long sought after class thermoelectric (TE)
material which directly achieve conversion between thermal and electrical energy obtain many
attention. However, the traditional TE materials are alloys of inorganic materials and expensive, and
most of them have some level of toxicity, so the research about organic TE materials is very
important. The polyaniline (PANI, i.e. one kind of conducting polymer) and PANI matrix

TE properties were investigated by FTIR, XRD, SEM and ZEM. Results showed that the ... Show

Additionally, some inorganic elements have some level of toxicity for the environment follows with
the low natural abundance. Thereby, in the present scenario it is unrealistic to enable a widespread use
of thermoelectric installations forwaste heat recovery. However, organic electronic materials, especially
conducting polymers (i.e. basing on abundant elements, light weight, low cost large area flexible and
non toxic), start to draw attention asmore economical alternatives to conventional TE materials [19
21].
To evaluate the energy conversionefficiency of a TE material, a dimensionless Figure of merit (ZT), is
introduced to quantify the performance of TE materials and is defined as
with: S: Seebeck coefficient, σ: Electrical conductivity, T : Absolute temperature, S2σ: Power factor
andκ : Thermal conductivity.
Good TE materials require ahigh power factor, a high σ and a lowκ, so the polymers are expected to
play an important role in the TE materials because of its low κ.
Conducting polymers are one of the mostly studiednovel materials for thermoelectric materials. These
versatile materials exhibit not only the electricalconductivity of semiconductors but also the
generalbehaviors of polymers. Polyaniline (PANI), oneof the most extensively investigated conducting
polymers,have been

Essay About Electoral College
The electoral college is a relic from days gone by, and like those days, it s time for it to retire. The
college, in all it s promotes the blatant distrust of the will of the majority, has a sub par backup plan in
the event of an electoral tie, and violates political equality.
The Electoral College s plan in the event of an electoral tie is an inherently flawed one, and instead of
simpler alternatives such as simply using the direct vote, it goes to the House of Representatives. The
problem with this plan of action is the very fact that it goes to the House of Representatives, and that
each state casts exactly one ballot. In his article, The Indefensible Electoral College , Bradford Plumer
shows that in the event of a tie The single representative from Wyoming, representing 500,000 voters,
would have as much say as the 55 representatives from California, who represent 35 million voters .
This is an enormous structural flaw in the Electoral College ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The final fundamental problem with the Electoral College is its violations of political equality. In his
article Why the Electoral College Is Bad For America for the Yale University Press (YUP), George C.
Edwards goes on to illustrate how fundamentally non neutral a counting device the electoral college
is. For example, if one were to win 12 states, and the District of Columbia, with the fewest electoral
votes, you would be handed 44 votes. On the other hand, if you were to win the state of Illinois, a state
endowed with 20 electoral votes, and a population as of 2004 of 12,830,632, you would still not have
as much as you would ve if you had won those twelve state. The major problem in this system is that
combined those areas have 329,910 less people then Illinois, illustrating that in the convoluted and
complex system that is the college, size of population is by no means a guarantee of a state s
significance in the Electoral

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Oral Communication
Section A
A1)
Communication is sharing our feelings, experiences, thoughts, suggestions, feedback and etc. So
usually before communicating with another person, we tend to think of how to speak, what to speak,
when to speak and which channel I should adopt to before communicating.
The sender is the person who sends the message. Let s take an example for this case; two people are
communicating between each other. The sender is Amy and the receiver is Pond. Amy will send the
message, which is the information she would like for Pond to know. She will then encode her
message, which is transforming her message which can be transformed into written words or verbal
communication. Then, Amy must choose a channel of communication which is also known as the
manner in which the message ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everything has its advantages and disadvantages. The advantages for oral communication includes;
saves valuable time, saves cost, more powerful and effective, able to get immediate feedback and
correction of errors. The disadvantages of oral communication include; no record of what has been
spoken, probability of omitting the key point (main subject) and confused speech.
Oral communication saves time in cases of situation where an immediate action is required to be
taken. Also, if the management s work load is high, they d rather want to complete their tasks by using
oral instructions. When you are communicating verbally, you do not require any paper, pen, stamp or a
computer. Oral communications tend to persuade and control the people we are talking to. Therefore,
management often prefers to communicate to their staff by the means of oral communication. Moving
on to the fourth point, the speaker can get almost an immediate feedback on whether the feedback is
negative or positive for the speaker. This implies that the receiver clearly understood what the speaker
meant and gives a high possibility for

Street Children In Yogyakarta
Children are assets that determine the future of a country. As an important aspect for the future of a
country, it is a proper for children to have a good life. To have a good life, children need a family,
good education, and good health care for their life development. These aspects seem as common
things for us, but not for some children in many big cities in Indonesia. For them, this kind of life is an
impossibility. Many children in big cities in Indonesia face a difficult life, they don t have a family or
simply they don t have any relatives. These children live in poverty, alone, and homeless. People
usually call them as street children since they live in the street, homeless, and the street has become
their home. Yogyakarta, as one of the big cities in Indonesia, which well known for many titles, as the

Religion In Mahatma Gandhi
Another trait Gandhi possessed due to his religion was courage. Mahatma Gandhi had no fear. To
Gandhi fearlessness was an imperative part of religion. He even described religion by saying, Where
there is fear there is no religion ( Young India, 2 9 26, 308). Further, Gandhi believed this courage to
follow one s beliefs improved all aspects of life. Gandhi once said, Religion which takes no account of
practical affairs and does not help to solve them, is no religion ( Young India, 7 5 25, 164). Religion to
Gandhi required an effect on everyday life. Gandhi had no fear and allowed religion to affect his daily
affairs. This was imperative to the many radical movements and ideas Gandhi proposed. When he
founded the Natal Indian Congress at twenty five, he was a tabula rasa: he tried out ideas which in an
established political organization would have been directly laughed at (Nanda, Shri B. R). However,
due to his fearlessness, even when faced with defeat, Gandhi pushed onwards. He stated, Defeat
cannot dishearten me. It can only chasten me. I know that God will guide me ( Young India, 3 7 24,
218). And by pushing onwards, Gandhi was able to see change in India and change in the world.
Furthermore, because of his faith in God, Gandhi was not scared of other physical dangers. He stated,
God saves me so long as He wants me in this body. The moment His wants are satisfied, no
precautions on my part will save me ( Bapu s Letters to Mira, 91). Gandhi wasn t afraid,

Biblical Teachings And Essential For My Future Ministry
After rereading through Stonehouse and The Child in the Bible I have chosen six biblical
teachings/themes that I believe are important and essential for my future ministry. The six themes
includes: Children are a gift from God, God sees children as blessings, children need to be taught how
to develop a relationship with God, God commands us to protect the children, God cares about
children enough to ensure that they receive discipline, and God asks adults to learn from them. The
passage of Scripture that I would choose to describe and lead my future Children s Ministry is
Proverbs 22:6. Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it . I
chose this piece of Scripture to lead my ministry because it challenges the Children s Ministers,
parents and congregation to equip the child so that they can all work together on their faith. In my
ministry I want to make sure that at an early age children are intentionally encouraged to develop a
personal relationship with Christ. This passage in Proverbs challenges the children s parents. The
parents need to be equipped with skills to engage their children in conversations at home that
encourage a relationship with God. In The Child in the Bible Patrick D. Miller talks about how parents
need to be ready when their children ask questions. He uses Deuteronomy 6:20 25 to explain. ...

Long Distance Relationship Essay
Long distance relationships can be a pain. The word distance is why. Many individuals who have been
in a relationship since high school are trying to continue their relationship in separate colleges. When
being in a long distance relationship some of the love can become lost, unless it is true love. Although,
many people think that long distance relationships are impossible to maintain, there are solutions to
this problem for college students who are separated by distance.
A problem that many people do not realize until they reach college is the distance of a previous
relationship. A long distance relationship can be defined as a relationship where two individuals are
separate from each other. Many young relationships begin the freshman year of high school and some
even make it to the senior year which is when things start going South. The problem begins once
college acceptance letters comes both people go separate ways. In many cases the two people involved
have views that differ as far as school goes which then causes turmoil when one decides to go to
school out of state in which they reside. Through having trust, in a college relationship the both of the
individuals have to be open with one another about what is going on while at college. Though it is not
a guarantee that he or she will always tell the truth if they really know the person they are romantically
involved with he or she will know if they are telling them lies to spare their heart. Many times, young

majority of the classic Seven Wonders of the World today are architectures. The designs of the
Romanesque and Gothic Revival style are still prevalent in today s modern architecture. Even in a fast
paced, busy city like Denver, Colorado, there are sights of these beautiful architectural styles. The

Compare And Contrast The Two Front War And The Schlieffen...
What was the Two Front War and The Schlieffen Plan, and how did they affect the war? The

created to prove Germany victorious over France and Russia. General Schlieffen wanted to make a

as the biggest threat, and decided that they should be first defeated to secure victory over both armies.
Schlieffen proposed that German forces would advance through Belgium to avoid strong French

Theme Of Religion In The Rocking Horse Winner
Symbolism and Religion in The Rocking Horse Winner In D. H. Lawrence s The Rocking Horse
Winner, Lawrence utilized symbols to reveal the natural affection between mother and son, and hints
of religion to expose the corruption of greed on a family. Symbols riddle William De Witt Snodgrass
essay, A Rocking Horse: The Symbol, the pattern, the Way to Live, in which he sets them as the story
s chief structural feature (191). Charles Koban and Daniel Watkins agree with Snodgrass, but they

Analysis of American Pie Essay
As the song begins, the narrator seems to feel nostalgic about the music written by a certain person,
and he describes the way that music made him smile (1 3). He misses the music from the past that
could make people smile, and that could help them forget their troubles. McLean seems to be referring
to the 1950s, which is clearer in the chorus of the song. As the speaker goes on, he says, But February
made me shiver / With every paper I d deliver. Here it is widely believe that Don McLean is referring
to the death of Buddy Holly. He is said to have been delivering newspapers on his paper route the
February that he learned of Buddy Holly s death. The speaker identifies Holly by the month of his

Manson wrote the title of the song on the wall in blood after committing the murders. In the line, We

Beatles wrote songs meant for listening and not dancing. Throughout this verse, the writer talks about,
players. I believe that here he is most likely referring to the many protesters around this time. He says,

that the government is corrupt when he says, Cause the players tried to take the field (61). Here he
means that the protestors tried to create change but the government would not allow them to make the
changes. McLean continues his allusions to events happening around him and in the past, and he again
ends the verse with his constantly repeated line, The day the music died.
The next verse seems to focus on the events that happened at Altamont in 1969. The flower children
gathered at Altamont, 300,000 strong, in a frenzy of drugs, alcohol and escalating violence (Fann).
McLean is pointing out here that the ideas of the counterculture are obviously not going to

Case Study Of Pick N Pay And Woolworths
Chapter 4
Introduction:
This section displays the exploration discoveries to the research on the impact of foreign exchange
fluctuations on a business financial position and ability to invest. The examination was directed at 2
firms as a multiple case study, Pick n Pay and Woolworths Holdings where both companies have
direct relations with foreign currency within their respective companies. These companies were
presented with a survey which appear in the reference and appendix D. Out of the 2 respondents, 2

Foreign exchange risk arises from commercial transactions, recognised assets and liabilities and net

The Woolworths has transactional currency exposures arising from the acquisition of goods and

Successful Find Sociology
For this class I chose the title, Working with Others for a Successful Find. In archeology there are
many steps a person must take in order to have a successful find. A successful find is not just when
you find an object in the dirt or ground, it is when you find an object and find new information about
the past. The only way to know about the past is to talk to someone who would know what that object
is. This can be a historian, fellow colleague, and especially a descendant of who the object belongs to.
An example in which I am referring to when I say a descendant of who the object belongs to, is like
when Janet D. Spector talks to Carrie Schommer and Chris Cavendar about the Dakota people. These
two individuals are descendants of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In these groups they would have to act out the part as if they were either Native Americans, the
archeologists, or the state/country officials. The last group would be the jury members and I would be
the judge. Once I assigned them to a specific group they would have a short time to discuss with one
another the argument that they would make. They would be arguing against one another that they
should have the objects that were found. First each group would give their opening argument. After
each group finished that then they would have an open floor in which they would be able to debate
each other. Once they were finished debating and each group made their closing remarks then the jury
would go and deliberate to determine who gets the objects. When the jury returns I would read aloud
the decision. The group who made the best argument will win a prize. Their prize will be all of the
artifacts that were found from the first assignment. This second assignment ties back in with the first
theme as well because it requires the students to work with one another in order to be successful and
win the debate. So overall my class would be all about the students working with one another to
achieve success as well as trying to determine who would receive the artifacts that are found in Native
American lands. At the end of my class

FTTB (Fiber to the building) or FTTH (Fiber to the house) can be employed to ensure very high data
rate without any bottleneck.
In the existing li fi systems, data transmission is via white light and in uncontrolled environment. This
results in higher attenuation and scattering loss limiting the range of transmission.
The existing setup make use of the full spectrum of the visible light for data transmission. But the
components having shorter wavelength undergo scattering easily. Hence we also propose a system
wherein only the spectrum having longer wavelength are used for data transmission in addition to the
generally used white light for ambiance.
Propagation of light through an optical fiber is based on the principle of total internal reflection. Due
to rough and irregular surfaces both at the physical and molecular level, light rays are scattered in

Compare and contrast research by Harry Harlow and Mary Ainsworth on understanding attachment
This essay is looking at the similarities of two researchers into attachment. The aim is to present their
work so as to compare and contrast the different approaches and techniques used by both Harry
Harlow and Mary Ainsworth. Even though they both had their different techniques in carrying out
their experiments, the conclusion of their findings was very similar and this essay will be showing
these findings by contrast. Both psychologists wanted to find out the underlying mechanics of
attachment of mothers and their young.

We see the advantages of Ainsworh s study in wanting to find out about attachment in humans, by

provided Ainsworth with the opportunity to develop a highly influential procedure called the strange

Racism, I, Too By Langston s Hughes
The poem I, Too by Langston s Hughes was written in a prosperous time for black Americans who had
obtain their cultural identity through expression of literature, art, music, and poetry. This time period
is often referred as the Harlem Renaissance because it was cultural rebirth of the black community
that took place in Harlem, New York. Many great poets and writers such as Langston Hughes, Claude
McKay, Zora Neale Hurston and Countee Cullen were blossomed during this time, they often
expressed themselves through literature inspiring and enlightening their audience. Also with hopes of
civil rights for black Americans who sought for a brighter future for generations to come. The literary
work by Langston s Hughes, I, Too expresses the yearning of the black community wanting to express
themselves as Americans. Langston Hughes is able to captivate racial issues through his poetry in the

The Identity of Black Women in the Post Bellum Period 1865 1885
Throughout history, the black woman has always had a multitude of responsibilities thrust upon her
shoulders. This was never truer than for southern black women in the period between 1865 and 1885.
In this span of twenty years, these women were responsible for their children, their husbands,
supporting their families, their fight for freedom as black citizens and as women, their sexual freedom,
and various other issues that impacted their lives. All of these aspects of the black woman s life
defined who she was. Each of her experiences and battles shaped the life that she lived, and the way
she was perceived by the outside world.

One of the first things that the black woman attempted, after gaining her freedom, was to obtain a job.
These women learned quickly, however, that they would not be equals just because they were now
free. The job opportunities available to black women, like many other aspects of their lives, would be
of much less quality than the jobs offered to the rest of the population. They would be low paying,
involve extended hours, and would put them in constant danger; black women would have to negotiate
the literal rough terrain of Atlanta and the social consequences it imposed on their everyday lives as
they struggled to earn a living for their families and searched for peace of mind. They would have to
persevere in their quest to work and support their household.
After the Civil War, all black citizens of the Unites States were allegedly free. The thirteenth
amendment banning slavery had been passed and the reconstruction of the South was moving along
swiftly. This promised freedom, however, was far from what was expected. There were many laws and
forces at work to keep blacks in some type of involuntary servitude. Some of the laws that limited
black freedom included making it a crime to hire away a worker who had been under contract with a
different employer (so called enticement laws), various contract enforcement statutes that bound the
black worker to their employer, and vagrancy statutes in which unemployed

way to express yourself through words and put in the emotion that one is feeling when writing

Questions On Addressing Challenges With Etsy Essay

giving shoppers the opportunity to buy unique items they normally can t be found in stores. Etsy
promotes it products as handmade, and original. When furthering my research, Team Tim located
several complaints such as, the lack of communication between buyer and seller, not receiving

they finally received the merchandise it did not exceed expectations. So she took the shoes to a local

Ethical Dilemmas In The Workplace Essay
Ethical Dilemmas in the Workplace
As a manager, you are the role model for staff. You set the standards, adhere to guidelines, and
exemplify what you expect staff to model. By doing so, you are establishing and sustaining an
organizational culture of ethics and integrity, which is the backbone of all successful endeavors.
However, even the best structured organizations face ethical dilemmas in the workplace. It is how
management recognizes and addresses these occurrences that will either set them and their team up for
success or for failure. One of the biggest hurtles management can overcome is to be aware of their
surroundings because when management fails to notice and act, it is an ethical failure (Bazerman
Sezer, 2016, para. 5). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clark (2017) points out that studies have shown that employees from the baby boomer generation
believe that the younger generations lack good work ethics and are slackers, thus inhibiting
opportunities for collaboration within the team. Management must be mindfully aware of the potential
for conflicts when setting up teams of diverse ages and delegating responsibilities accordingly to
ensure more inclusion and possibly eliminate conflicts from occurring in the first place (LaMontagne,
2016).
Bullying and other negative behaviors can also cause substantial problems. Employees can be made to
feel inferior to another coworker or even you as the manager. They may be ridiculed, teased, or
withstand having their work continually criticized, causing them to feel isolated and insignificant
(Wilson Nagy, 2017). According to Wilson and Nagy (2017), employees who are bullied tend to take
more sick leave, may suffer from depression, feel insecure, and can experience long lasting, negative
health effects. To prevent this from occurring, management must continuously be cognizant of how
they communicate internally and externally, as well as how staff relates with one another. By not
doing so, the organization could lose dedicated, hard working employees, as well as stake holders and
clients. In addition, Clark (2017) suggests that understanding of the relationship between bullying and
personality dynamics enables organizations to integrate these findings into policies and procedures

sexual attraction and have sex. They express affection in public regardless of them being naked or
with clothes. There may be a strong association between nudity and sex in today s culture, but that is
not the case. In nudist settings, people will behave sexually as people on a textile beach setting; they

Conversion Of Sto Analysis
Conversion of St. Paul (or The Road to Damascus ) was painted by Italian Baroque artist
Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio for the church of Santa Maria del Popolo in Rome. It tells the
story of St. Paul conversion. As we know from the bible, and St. Paul s letters, Saul (St. Paul) was on
his way to Damascus to prosecute Christians when he was blinded by light/ spirit from heaven. He fell
to the ground, and the spirit asked him: Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? (Acts 9: 1 6).
Conversion of St. Paul took place in noon and on the desert so it must have been really bright and
sunny, but on Caravaggio s painting we see different scene. Background is dark, as if the event took
place at night. Caravaggio uses chiaroscuro to emphasize St. Paul ecstasy. The servant and the horse
are plunged in darkness. The artist wanted to get the feeling of contrast between light from the sky and
ordinary background, which is dark. Caravaggio gave up painting God and angels instead he painted
presence of God in divine light. There is a dramatic contrast between supernatural light and ordinary
darkness. Paul young, beautiful and ecstatic persona is countered with very realistic image of a servant
and a horse. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Kitsune are from Japanese folklore and are Japanese foxes. A kitsune can have up to nine tails,
depending on its age, wisdom and power. The only way to kill a kitsune is to cut off all of its tails, as it

For example, a ninko is an invisible fox spirit that human beings can only perceive when it posseses

Physically, kitsune are noted for having as many as nine tails. These kyūbi no kitsune (九尾の狐, nine

Chain Of Violence In Tobias Wolff s The Chain And Bullet...
The Chain and Bullet in the Brain
A Chain of Violence, and a Link. In both of Tobias Wolff short stories, The Chain and Bullet in the
Brain, the theme is revenge, or getting what is coming. The Chain starts with an act of violence and
due to our main characters choices and actions, the violence continues on, a domino effect. While
shorter in length, Bullet in the Brain also packs in violence with our main character being on the
receiving end of it, and then reflecting on his entire life after his death. The author s personal
psychology is one that believes in karma as he tells the story of both Brian Gold and Anders where
they both get their due justice, in different ways with different outcomes. In these two stories we deal
with characters who may on the surface seem different, but both have different character flaws and
temperaments that reveal their dangerous psychological states, pivotal moments that create their story,
and major mistakes that result in violence and can not be taken back. In The Chain our main character
is Brian Gold, a father who owns a video store called Gold s Video. He has character flaws that
directly link to the type of violence he becomes involved in. In the first paragraph, we see that his
daughter is in danger as she is being attacked by a dog. Brian does what he can to help in time, but his
daughter still luckily only suffers some bruises, and the owner of the dog is less than apologetic. Brian

Hacking Is An Illegal Activity
Definition of Hacking
Hacking is an illegal activity that expert computer programmers do in order to access someone else s
personal data or information without permission. These people have developed skills to dominate and
break through the software. They called themselves hackers. Some hackers consider hacking as an art.
In addition, Hackers usually use the computer and the Internet to hack into the software system
remotely which means they can do it even if they live in entirely different regions. Hacking has
threatened the security of all people, companies and governments all over the world because hacking
can cause harmful consequences, such as the installation of malicious software or damage the software
(Merriam Webster), (What Is Computer Hacking).
The History of Hacking
The term of hacking was first used in the 1960s by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
which is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In fact, at that time, many people misunderstood the
idea of hacking as the development of the computer software functions. Up until 1980, hacking was
not as common as it is nowadays. Hackers have been developing methods to get into holes which are
both gaps in the firewalls and entry points into software systems (either local or remote). When
hacking started, the motivation for it was based on curiosity. The hackers wanted to explore how they
could improve the system. Hackers thought hacking was useful to create solutions which made life

The Effect Of Tryptophan On The Brain
Tryptophan is a large neutral amino acid present in living organisms, which is precisely one of the
twenty L amino acids incorporated in proteins and one of the nine essential amino acids which cannot
be endogenously synthesised and needs to be supplied with ailments. It is a precursor for various
neurotransmitters such as serotonin, which is essential for maintaining mood balance and the
regulation of appetite. It is also regarded that a deficit of the neurotransmitter may lead to depression
and other mood disorders. With that being said, intake of serotonin precursors is essential for the
amount of serotonin in the brain.
Tryptophan is absolutely necessary to life and is crucial, in terms of human diet. It has a limiting effect
on appetite that decreases it and eventually leads to a sufficient concentration that can assist
overweight or obese people to lose weight. The amino acid contributes greatly and leads to numerous
positive effects wherein, one is its ability to prevent certain medical conditions and diseases.
Inflammatory activities may reduce or decrease with the intake of tryptophan. Moreover, tryptophan
plays a relevant role in cancer; as regards to the IDO related immune tolerance for cancer antigens,
methyl Tryptophan derivatives and IDO inhibitors that are promising compounds for therapy against
tumor growth and metastasis formation (Betti et al., 2015).
A method of lowering serotonin levels in the brain is called Acute Tryptophan Depletion (ATD). ATD

Summary Of Gerry Garibaldi s How The Schools Shortchange...
In Gerry Garibaldi s essay, How the Schools Shortchange the Boys, he argues that the feministic
learning of the public school systems detrimentally affects males learning because boys are often
identified as special ed and leave the classroom with only the resiliency of survival. However,
Garibaldi s arguments are biased, misguided, and fail to see how the application of the male nature can
be successful in a feministic learning style, so we should not agree with his claims. In order to
understand Garibaldis claims, what his version of feminist learning is must be explained. He spends
time discussing the current style of teaching, and then defines feminist learning as, the method [that]
addresses the need to teach all students in a classroom where academic abilities vary greatly where
there is heterogeneous grouping, to use the ed school jargon meaning kids with IQs of 55 sit side by
side with the gifted (537). He says this with as much negative tone as a person can fit in a sentence.
What part of that is feminist? Garibaldi describes a school environment that tries to relieve all
boundaries of mental ability, in order to benefit the entire classroom, not the girls in the classroom.
Personally, being a girl who has been identified as gifted, it s not my favorite type of learning. I am
forced to group with people for whom I spend every 10 seconds explaining the teacher s simple
directions. During my eighth grade year, my male science teacher paired me with my associate who
constantly asked questions. Mr. Grace made it my job to answer this classmate s non stop questions
because it drew away from the lesson when my peer asked the teacher to repeat himself. How exactly
that helps my learning, I have no idea, but I don t have so much as a clue about how this is a feministic
point of view. Is the school system feministic or he just a masculist? Not only his definition of
feminist leaves unanswered questions, Garibaldi also opens himself up for criticism in his diction.
When introducing his first supporting reason, Garibaldi states, it is boys aggressive and rationalist
nature redefined as a behavioral disorder that s getting so many of them in trouble in the feminized
schools. Their problem:

Film Of Tomorrow Analysis
The Film of tomorrow will resemble the person who made it, and the number of spectators will be
proportional to the number of friends the director has, a quote by Francois Truffaut. This quote
explains Truffaut s belief in the Auteur theory and how films should become more personal to it s

director had, and I think he meant that since film s were so personal, viewers were connected in some
way when watching, therefore were considered friends which was more meaningful then just normal
viewers . In Auteur Theory, the director has control over all aspects of the film, which conveys a film
that reflects their consistent vision. This was true for the director Francois Truffaut and Orson Wells.
During the French New Wave of cinema the directors created their films to be more self reflective and
had the focus be on the techniques rather than the narrative. This new style of film made their films
excel and remain very well known. This essay will discuss directors Francois Truffaut and Orson
Wells, and their unique signature film techniques and elements of cinematography. Francois Truffaut
was a director who employed techniques that have a distinguishable style and he believed, the Film of
tomorrow will not be directed by civil servants of camera, but by artist for whom shooting a film
constitutes a wonderful and thrilling adventure. In Traffaut s well known film 400

illegal immigrants can be secured in various ways.
The US government is taking measures to ensure that the children are comfortable. In this regard, the
government offers free housing and care for the children. Additionally, the dietitians have also taken

The law recognizes the children as abused, neglected and abandoned. Additionally, SIJI allows
children to access to employment. Employment in the US is important because it guarantees access to
income and other basic needs and wants, which illegal immigrants never access. The other option the
vulnerable children of illegal families is the Violence against Women Act.
The Act allows the children to access public benefits and employment authorization. Additionally, the
provision guarantees the chidden the right to obtain permanent residency. The other option for the
venerable children is the U Nonimmigrant status provision. According to Eastman, the U
Nonimmigrant status provision is usually applicable to the individuals who can help in the
investigation of certain crimes and offer useful information (3). There is a visa offered to the people
who earn such status. Consequently, they are allowed to reside in the United States for some time

Joshamee Gibbs Archetypes Essay
What do Joshamee Gibbs (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl/Terry Rossio) and
Phileas Fogg (Around the World in 80 Days/Jules Verne) have in common? Well, from a distance they
have nothing in common. Joshamee Gibbs is a pirate found in a blockbuster film. Passepartout is a
french valet, from a book written in the 1800s. But, as the reader dives into the characters and their
behaviors, a pattern or archetype can be seen. Archetypes are universal in every story and narrative.
For the hero, there are 3 archetypes: tragic, romantic, and epic heroes, but for the other archetypes
they are more broad and open to more variety. The hero is the protagonist, or main character in a film
or book. The role of the companion is that of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Passepartout tests Fogg s morals and character. Will he save his servant and risk everything or leave
him with the indians to possibly die? Companions often die, or are left behind causing distress or
mourning to the protagonist and may build the character s determination and motivation to continue
with their quest.
Dialogue between the companion and the hero is important to character development. Because the
companion is the protagonist s friend or helper, the companions often talk with the protagonist about
their feelings, ideas, and thoughts. By expressing themselves the reader can get a better look into the
hero s true self through dialogue. In Pirates of the Caribbean: The Black Pearl the protagonist, Will
Turner, meets Jack Sparrow and his crew. Initially, he is disgusted of them as he brutally expresses his
hatred towards pirates to Jack sparrow. Which is quite ironic, since he later finds out he is the son of a
pirate.
Not a lot s known about Jack before he showed up in Tortuga with a mind to find the treasure of the
Isla de Muerta? That was before I d met him, when he captained the Black Pearl. Wills head whips
around swiftly. What? Will questions. Gibbs chokes on his alcohol. He failed to mention that Will
exclaims softly. Gibbs pauses and explains, He plays things closer to the vest now. A hard learned
lesson it was. Three days out on the venture, the first mate says, everything s an equal share. That
means the location of the

  • 2. How Did Johannes Veermeer Use Of Visual Realism Two artists in history are widely known for their abilities to depict scenes in such realistic manners that you would never know they are actually paintings. These two artists were named Albert Bierstadt and Johannes Vermeer. Both men came from different times and different ethnic settings. Dutchman, Johannes Vermeer was born in the year 1632 and passed away tragically in 1675. Over his lifetime Vermeer put his soul into his paintings, causing modern day historians and art lovers to struggle to figure out how he painted such realistic scenes. His style of painting combined many pictorial depth cues while maintaining realism throughout the relatively few paintings he produced. Then there is the Prussian artist, Albert Bierstadt, who was born ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the case of Vermeer, his paintings The Music Lesson and The Concert both focus on individuals comfortable in their everyday settings during the 1600 s. The emotions that are given off to the viewers through the use of realism through the topics in both of the paintings, would be respectful and understanding. However, in The Music Lesson, Vermeer added a sense of warmth and gentleness to the individuals painted through added help of color perspective with the clothing and objects surrounding them being much more vibrant. In The Concert, Vermeer added a sense of warmth through color perspective with only a small ray of light shining on the women, while leaving the man darker to invoke a sense of focus on his activities. Focusing still on color, another tool Vermeer used to create a sense of visual realism was the use of shading. Shading is another pictorial depth cue that allows for a painter to create a three dimensional appearance to a two dimensional painting through the use of darker colors for the shadows of objects. In The Music Lesson, one of the most obvious uses of shading appears with the use of a shadow behind the painting above the piano, caused by the painting hanging forward. Another example of where shading was used, was with the shadows from the legs of the piano itself on the wall. In The Concert, Vermeer uses shading in a more subtle manner with the most obvious use of shading being the shadow cast from the painting hanging on the wall. • 3. Taking a Look at Global Warming Natural and anthropogenic substances like green house gases that alter earth s energy budget are drivers of climate change. Radiative forcing (RF) quantifies the change in energy fluxes caused by changes in these drivers and positive RF leads to surface warming. The largest contribution to total RF is caused by the increase in the atmospheric concentration of CO2 (1.68 W m 2) followed by CH4, Halo carbons and N2O since 1750 (IPCC 2013). According to IPCC 2013 the CO2 concentrations will raise unprecedentedly from 391 Parts per million (p.p.m) in 2011 to 550 700 p.p.m. by 2050 and to 670 936 by 2100. Ironically, most of the CO2 is mitigated by plants with photosynthetic reaction that converts solar energy into energy stored in carbohydrates. A lot of research has been done through last few decades, to investigate elevated CO2 induced changes in plants and to identify potential candidate tree species that sequester more CO2 under elevated CO2. Elevated CO2 enhances photosynthetic rate, reduces stomatal conductance resulting in a higher amount of plant mass and yield. Photosynthesis and growth of most plants are stimulated by elevated atmospheric CO2 concentrations (Schortemeyer 2002). The continuous stimulation of photosynthesis in C3 plants by elevated CO2 increases the availability of carbohydrates and in doing so, alters the balance of C and N resources. The main C N interactions proposed to influence responses to elevated CO2 include down regulation of leaf N ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Heat and Iron A clothing iron, also called a flatiron or simply an iron, is a small appliance: a handheld piece of equipment with a flat, roughly triangular surface that, when heated, is used to press clothes to remove creases. It is named for the metal of which the device is commonly made, and the use of it is generally called ironing. Ironing works by loosening the ties between the long chains of molecules that exist in polymer fiber materials. With the heat and the weight of the ironing plate, the fibers are stretched and the fabric maintains its new shape when cool. Some materials, such as cotton, require the use of water to loosen the intermolecular bonds. Many materials developed in the twentieth century are advertised as needing little or no ... According to How Things Work in Your Home by Time Life Books, a heat control lever rotates a cam that regulates the opening between the contacts located on the thermostat. A steam valve attached to a vapor chamber located above the heating element opens up when the correct temperature is reached and water enters the chamber and is converted into steam. From there, the water is converted to steam, which exits from the soleplate at the bottom of the iron through the ports. On the top of the iron, a pump draws water from the reservoir and sprays it through the nozzle. Troubleshooting and Maintenance Most problems occur when an iron is either dropped, the cord is frayed or mineral deposits from hard water clog the ports. Time Life recommends that irons be rinsed after use and a small brush used to clean the ports. To clean the aluminum soleplate on the bottom of the iron, use a solution of one part baking soda to two parts water on a cloth. Use a soapy scouring pad to clean steel soleplates. Whichever type of cleaning method is used, dry the iron thoroughly. After heating it up over the lowest setting, run the iron over a piece of wax paper and then a dry cloth, according to Time Life. Irons with nonstick soleplates should be cleaned with a damp sponge or cloth to avoid damage to the coating. Nicks can be buffed out with an emery board. Cords should be replaced if the iron does not heat. This can be a do it yourself project, according to Time Life; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Asian Stereotypes in the Media Introduction By definition, Media Literacy is defined as the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, and create media. The power of the media should not be underestimated. Millions of teens and adults spend hours watching television and surfing the web on a daily basis. With the use of media literacy, these individuals that utilize hours of their daily lives can be protected from pressures of media disinformation that also pushes them to become the idealistic human model it wishes them to be. By teaching majority of our communities about media literacy, we can free them from the standardized pressures of society itself. These free beings will no longer feel the needs to live up to the expectations of the media as they will discover the falsified truth when analyzed deeply. Educating the population will not only free their minds mentally, but it will strengthen their capability of thinking also. Media Literacy provides opportunities for anyone to build communication skills, boost his or her confidents to interpret multiple media sources at the same time, and as well as realistically designating the portrayal of his or her position along with others in a perspective view. One can take advantage of media literacy to improve his or her media use habits, such as constant television viewing behaviors. With the impact of educating the life of an individual with Media Literacy, we can advance the habitual uses of media of that human being s family and develop more intellectual ... • 13. Essay About Electoral College The electoral college is a relic from days gone by, and like those days, it s time for it to retire. The college, in all it s promotes the blatant distrust of the will of the majority, has a sub par backup plan in the event of an electoral tie, and violates political equality. The Electoral College s plan in the event of an electoral tie is an inherently flawed one, and instead of simpler alternatives such as simply using the direct vote, it goes to the House of Representatives. The problem with this plan of action is the very fact that it goes to the House of Representatives, and that each state casts exactly one ballot. In his article, The Indefensible Electoral College , Bradford Plumer shows that in the event of a tie The single representative from Wyoming, representing 500,000 voters, would have as much say as the 55 representatives from California, who represent 35 million voters . On the other hand, if you were to win the state of Illinois, a state endowed with 20 electoral votes, and a population as of 2004 of 12,830,632, you would still not have as much as you would ve if you had won those twelve state. The sender is the person who sends the message. Let s take an example for this case; two people are communicating between each other. The sender is Amy and the receiver is Pond. Amy will send the message, which is the information she would like for Pond to know. The passage of Scripture that I would choose to describe and lead my future Children s Ministry is Proverbs 22:6. This passage in Proverbs challenges the children s parents. The parents need to be equipped with skills to engage their children in conversations at home that encourage a relationship with God. In the existing li fi systems, data transmission is via white light and in uncontrolled environment. This results in higher attenuation and scattering loss limiting the range of transmission. The existing setup make use of the full spectrum of the visible light for data transmission. But the components having shorter wavelength undergo scattering easily. Hence we also propose a system wherein only the spectrum having longer wavelength are used for data transmission in addition to the generally used white light for ambiance. However, even the best structured organizations face ethical dilemmas in the workplace. It is how management recognizes and addresses these occurrences that will either set them and their team up for success or for failure. Management must be mindfully aware of the potential for conflicts when setting up teams of diverse ages and delegating responsibilities accordingly to ensure more inclusion and possibly eliminate conflicts from occurring in the first place (LaMontagne, 2016). Bullying and other negative behaviors can also cause substantial problems. Employees can be made to feel inferior to another coworker or even you as the manager. They may be ridiculed, teased, or withstand having their work continually criticized, causing them to feel isolated and insignificant (Wilson Nagy, 2017). According to Wilson and Nagy (2017), employees who are bullied tend to take more sick leave, may suffer from depression, feel insecure, and can experience long lasting, negative health effects. To prevent this from occurring, management must continuously be cognizant of how they communicate internally and externally, as well as how staff relates with one another. Conversion Of Sto Analysis Conversion of St. Paul (or The Road to Damascus ) was painted by Italian Baroque artist Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio for the church of Santa Maria del Popolo in Rome. It tells the story of St. Paul conversion. As we know from the bible, and St. Paul s letters, Saul (St. Paul) was on his way to Damascus to prosecute Christians when he was blinded by light/ spirit from heaven. He fell to the ground, and the spirit asked him: Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? (Acts 9: 1 6). • 41. Summary Of Gerry Garibaldi s How The Schools Shortchange... In Gerry Garibaldi s essay, How the Schools Shortchange the Boys, he argues that the feministic learning of the public school systems detrimentally affects males learning because boys are often identified as special ed and leave the classroom with only the resiliency of survival. However, Garibaldi s arguments are biased, misguided, and fail to see how the application of the male nature can be successful in a feministic learning style, so we should not agree with his claims. In order to understand Garibaldis claims, what his version of feminist learning is must be explained. He spends time discussing the current style of teaching, and then defines feminist learning as, the method [that] addresses the need to teach all students in a classroom where academic abilities vary greatly where there is heterogeneous grouping, to use the ed school jargon meaning kids with IQs of 55 sit side by side with the gifted (537). He says this with as much negative tone as a person can fit in a sentence. What part of that is feminist? Garibaldi describes a school environment that tries to relieve all boundaries of mental ability, in order to benefit the entire classroom, not the girls in the classroom. Personally, being a girl who has been identified as gifted, it s not my favorite type of learning. I am forced to group with people for whom I spend every 10 seconds explaining the teacher s simple directions. During my eighth grade year, my male science teacher paired me with my associate who constantly asked questions. Mr. Grace made it my job to answer this classmate s non stop questions because it drew away from the lesson when my peer asked the teacher to repeat himself. How exactly that helps my learning, I have no idea, but I don t have so much as a clue about how this is a feministic point of view. Is the school system feministic or he just a masculist? Not only his definition of feminist leaves unanswered questions, Garibaldi also opens himself up for criticism in his diction. When introducing his first supporting reason, Garibaldi states, it is boys aggressive and rationalist nature redefined as a behavioral disorder that s getting so many of them in trouble in the feminized schools.
