Formulation of Natural Lipstick
Method of Preparation
• If the solvent is used for the dissolution of
Bromo acid, the solution is first prepared and set
aside.
• If commercial colour pastes are not used, then
lake colours are first dispersed by mixing.
• The colour paste is passed through the triple
roller mill until it becomes soft and free from
brittle particles.
• The colour acid is now mixed with the Bromo
acid mixture.
• All ingredients are then arranged in increasing
order of their melting point.
• This mixture is milled until it is perfectly smooth.
CONT…
Preservativeand anti-oxidant are mixed in the remaining
oil.
Finally perfume is added and mass is stirred.
Automatic ejection mould is preferred for large scale
production.
The mould is lubricated with liquid paraffin or isopropyl
myristatebefore pouring mass into the mould.
It is important to prevent settling down of colouring mass
when moulds are cooled.
Lubrication facilitates the easy removal of the stick.
general method of preparation for lipsticks
EVALUATION OF THE
LIPSTICKS
❑Melting point determination test: The determination of melting
point is done to determine the storage characteristics of the
product.
❑ Microbiological test: The test is carried out to determine the
extent of contamination either from the raw materials or mould.
❑Test for rancidity: The oxidation of oil such as castor oil and
many other ingredients may result in bad odour and taste and
also result in a sticky product. The test for rancidity can be done
by using hydrogen peroxide and determining its peroxide
number.
❑Test for the application force: This is a test to determine the force to be
applied during application.
❑Storage stability: This test is done to determine the stability of the
product during storage.
❑Stability to oxidation: The oxidative characteristics of the finished
product are determined to check the stability of the product to oxidation..
❑Determination of surface characteristics: The study of the surface
property of the product is carried out to check the formation of crystals on
the surface or the contamination by microorganisms or formation of
wrinkles or the exudation of liquids.
❑Determination of colour dispersion: The test is done to determine the
unit or the dispersion of the colour particles.
1. SHEER OR SATIN
Sheer or satin lipsticks give
your lips a soft and
hydrated appearance and
are perfect for your no-
makeup makeup days.
2. CREAMY
Somewhere between satin
and matte lies the creamy
lipstick makeup. Creamy
lipsticks have the hydration
of a satin lipstick and the
look of a matte lipstick.
3. MATTE
If you are on the lookout for a
lipstick that has intense
pigmentation and staying
power, you need to get
yourself a matte lipstick. These
lipsticks are super saturated
and leave your lips with a flat
matte finish.
4. GLOSSY
If you are immediately
drawn to the thick and
sticky lip gloss you wore
in middle school, you
would be happy to note
that lip glosses have
come a long way.
5. TINTED LIP BALM
Lip balms are a must-have lipstick
makeup product, especially if you
are prone to having dry and
chapped lips. If you find yourself
reaching for your lip balm very
often, why not get one that also
adds a beautiful colour to your
lips, for a shade that makes them
look like your lips but better.
The Maybelline Baby Lips Loves
Color Lip Balms are infused with
colour pigments to add a subtle
flush of colour to your lips along
with the moisturization.
6. LIP LINER
Whether you often find
your lipstick bleeding
outside the edges or
want to define the
outline of your lips and
make them sharper, lip
liners are the solution to
many of your lipstick
woes.
