Nicole Oresme Research Paper
Nicole Oresme
Abstract
Nicole Oresme, also known as Nicolas Oresme, was born around 1320 in the 14th century on the
outskirts of the Norman city of Caen. Unfortunately, nothing was known of his family. Oresme was
known as one of the most famous scholastic philosophers of the middle age s. He was known for
many different subjects including; economics, physics, astrology, astronomy, theology, philosophy,
and mathematics. Oresme earned his doctorate of arts from the University of Paris between the years
of 1341 1342. In the same year he became grand master of the College of Navarre. He mainly wrote in
the language of Latin but also wrote in French [1]. Oresme was appointed canon in 1362 and later in
1364 was made dean of the Cathedral of Rouen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He came about the idea to use rectangular coordinates and geometric figures to explain uniform and
non uniform distribution of various quantities. For example, he worked on the change of velocity in
relation to time. More importantly, this helped lay a strong foundation that later led to the discovery of
analytic geometry by René Descartes. Oresme used his geometric figures to give the first proof of the
Merton theorem, shown in figure 1 below. This theorem states, The distance traveled in any given
period by a body moving under uniform acceleration is the same as if the body moved at a uniform
speed equal to its speed at the midpoint of the period [2]. Some believe that this resulted in later
discoveries of kinematics, affecting the later work of Galileo s.
Figure 1 Another mathematical contribution was the development of the first proof of the divergence
of the harmonic series. Oresme s proof had less advanced mathematics then the modern proof today.
His proof on the harmonic series was not touched on until later centuries, and was only replicated by
the Bernoulli brothers [1]. Oresmes proof groups the harmonic terms by taking 2, 4, 8, 16, and so on,
after the first two terms, and noting that each block has a sum larger than a œ [3]. Resulting

The Poem
Thomas Hardy has structured Hap to meet all the requirements of the form of an English sonnet: Its

The idea however is quite challenging. It reminds me of a young philosopher who is questioning why
bad things happen to good people. Surely it is chance, but what Hardy is hinting towards is what if it
is a bad thing only because we THINK it is a bad thing? It is almost circular. I do not know much
about Hardy but what I do know is that he tried really hard to believe in god but in the end, he came
out completely agnostic. This poem shows that struggle.
Hap is a poem by Thomas Hardy (1840 1928) that he wrote in 1866, while working as a trainee
architect, and for which he could not find a publisher. It did not reach the general public until 1898
when Hardy included it in his first collection, which was entitled Wessex Poems , which only
appeared after he had concluded his career as a highly successful novelist.
The poem is a sonnet, although it is presented as three stanzas in that the traditional octave is split into
two stanzas each of four lines and the sestet is a stanza on its own. The rhyme scheme is ABAB
CDCD EFEFFE, which is a variant on the Shakespearean form, although the clean break between
octave and sestet is more associated with the Petrarchan sonnet form.
The poem can be seen as Hardy s reaction to the basic thinking that underlies Darwin s The Origin of
Species which had been published in 1859. Hardy understood Darwin to imply that the mechanism
that drove natural

Oil And Gas Site Conservation Essay
WSES 4090 010 Fall 2017 Oil and Gas Site Restoration By: Cameo Hagger Project: This project
involves the restoration of drilling and fracking sites in Texas. Texas currently has millions of acers
under lease for drilling of oil and gas wells. These leases typically include a 1 2 acre pad site and an
access road. In some areas hundreds of pad sites can be interconnected leaving the environment scared
and otherwise unusable to its original purpose examples are farming, pasture land, or native landscape.
The Texas Rail Road Commission (RRC) has the authority and jurisdiction over the oil and gas
industries operating in Texas. Currently, the RRC does have a policy or reclamation process of
abandoned surface mining operations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The process requires millions of gallons of water which is mixed with numerous chemicals sometimes
sand or other substances to prevent the cracks from closing. Fracking has been blamed for numerous
issues from methane gas releases, contaminating ground water, to causing earth quakes. Liquids used
in the process are stored on site in holding tanks or ponds and are sometimes pumped back into the
ground using waste wells. Fracking has become a common practice to increase production on old and
new drilling operations. Experts predicted 100,000 new jobs in Texas will be created in the Oil and
Gas industries by 2018 bring the total to over 400,000. The rush to create these jobs and boost the
economy has given rise to a reduction in environmental regulations. Lobbing efforts by corporations at
the state level have resulted in the introduction bills and laws limiting the authority of local
municipalities to regulate drilling activities. Cities would be allowed to regulate surface activities such
as noise, lights and traffic but not drilling itself. Numerous bills have been introduced to the Texas
Legislature to put limits on local control. However, clashes are continuing to grow between cities and
states across the nation over oil and gas drilling and hydraulic fracturing. (3) Oil and gas companies
and related corporations have spent many years purchasing and leasing the mineral rights from private
land owners. This includes universities, cities, and

What Can Cause Bornean-Orangutans
Long time ago, there were more than 230,000 orangutans spread around South East Asia. Now, there
are only about 60,000 left and 40,000 of them are Bornean orangutans. Human action can bring these
animal to extinction. The three main threats that can cause Bornean orangutans (Pongo pygmaeus) to
extinction are habitat loss, illegal wildlife trade and conflicts with indigenous people.
Forest fires and continuous logging are some of human action that caused habitat loss and affecting a
significant change of Bornean orangutans population. When local farmers wanted to open a palm oil
agriculture they will use a slash and burn methods. In 1998, forest fires in Borneo had caused one
third of Bornean orangutans population died.

The Construction Of The Patoka Reservoir
In the 1960s, for the folks in and around Ellsworth, [Indiana,] living life decades behind the time was
just the way it was. Manpower over technology. The comfort of tradition over the anxiety of change,
stated Jason Recker, a journalist for The Herald. Patoka Reservoir, an economic center for recreation
and flood control, encompasses 8,800 acres of land. Before its construction, a thriving community
inhabited the fertile terrain along the Patoka River. Towns of this former neighborhood included Elon,
Newton Stewart, and Ellsworth. (Recker 1) Families lived their everyday lives as farmers, with an
occasional visit from a local peddler. One day, though, a new kind of visit altered their peaceful ways.
A government sent official arrived ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example, Ellsworth Road, still leads all the way up to Patoka Reservoir s edge today. (Kreitzer
66) These roads also articulated an abundance of inhabitants and their cultural mannerisms.
James Marvin Ellis, born June 30, 1842, sparked the foundation of Ellsworth. Although Ellis did not
receive a sufficient education as a child, at the age of thirty two he both cultivated one hundred sixty
acres of farmland and managed a general store. (History 759) Not only did Ellis publicly exert
himself, but his private life prospered as well. Ellis and his wife, Mary A. Beaty, brought forth seven
children to the local population: Marvin U., Hester J., Elliot E., Thomas G., Joseph A., and Lotta A.
(Ellis 1). In addition to agriculture, family, and merchandising, he also served as the town s original
postmaster (History 760). This holds importance because a post office provided a town s first official
identification (Kreitzer 65). Ellis societal involvement ventured much further than the town of
Ellsworth, though. At the age of nineteen, Ellis enlisted in the Civil War. He served in Company A ,
Forty Ninth Indiana Volunteers, beginning on September 25, 1861. For two and a half years, Ellis
fought in many battles until harshly wounded at Champion Hill in mid 1863. Although he would
suffer from these wounds for the rest of his life, Ellis readmitted himself to military service in early
1864. He fought until the conclusion of the war a year later. (History 759) As

Five Facts about Illegal Immigration in the U.S. ). Deterrence, apprehension, and removal need to be
strengthened by congress. Some say immigration should be allowed because the Statue of Liberty
clearly is a representation of that, but the Statue of Liberty was originally a gift from France, and then
a poet wrote a poem and placed it on the statue. The poem is about immigration, not the statue.
Immigration should not be allowed because it has caused many problems like terrorism that we
continue to try and prevent which continues to become increasingly harder with illegal immigrants
flowing through the Mexican border. While illegal immigration is a growing crisis, many riots and
protesting is happening in the heart of the U.S. mainland.
The fight over the meaning of the symbolic monuments continues to affect the future americans that

How Has Middle School Influenced Me
Over my life I have been influenced many times, but over the past year I have been influenced a
couple times already this year. One of the ways I have been influenced was moving from Eastside (an
elementary school) to the Middle School. Another way I have been influenced was making new
friends that had gone to a different schools then me. The last way I have been influenced was by my
family.
To move from an elementary school to a middle school it was a huge change. Such as, more
people(from different elementary schools), meaner people, new friends, new teachers, lockers, and new
school. It is the middle of the first year of middle school and I still haven t fully gotten used to it all.

The Greek And Greek Influence Of The Roman Empire
Another empire would soon take many influences from the Greeks. In Rome, an empire was
beginning to rise. Roman civilization had its roots in Hellenistic culture because they idolized them.
They borrowed and enhanced upon the Greek intellectual accomplishments. As the empire expanded
this would become increasingly important. As the Romans continued to expand their empire and
influence, they were also spreading the culture of those who influenced them the Greeks. The Roman
Empire at their peak had a vast control over much of the Mediterranean and into Europe controlling
much of Britain, Spain, France, the North African coast, much of Asia minor. Within these regions
they had vast numbers provinces where they would allow rule the local ... Show more content on

These effects reached from China, India, the Middle East, and some portions of Africa. As different
regions adopted new aspects of life, they further implement that into their culture. Then the as the
culture grows, it grows with the influences adopted form that of the Romans who borrowed it form the
Greeks. Similarly, with the Romans and Macedonians their conquest and implementation of their
culture was the main source of the spread of Hellenistic culture. However the combination of
controlling more regions and being more involved with global trade, the Romans were able to further
expand Greek influence than those before them. Soon the Roman Empire began to decline and an even
more impactful implementation of Greek culture began to arise in a region to the east.
As the Roman Empire fell and small Kingdoms began to arise throughout Europe, in a different region
of the world, an intellectual revolution began and flourished. During a period between the eighth and
ninth centuries, the Islamic world of the Middle East Experienced its Golden Age . This was a period
of advancements in the sciences, astronomy, mathematics, and medicine. The main source contributed
to these advancements is from the Greeks. However this Golden Age may have been delayed for many
years if not for a man named Mamun. Mamun was a Caliph who would

Entrepreneurship And The Industrial Design Industry
Entrepreneurship in the Industrial Design Industry
Entrepreneurship
This research report will explore the key issues of entrepreneurship in the industrial design industry,
specifically zoning in on the furniture design sector. The Collins English Dictionary gives the
definition of an entrepreneur as; the owner or manager of a business enterprise who, by risk and
initiative, attempts to make profits. (Collins , 2011) This is extremely relevant in the product design
sector as money, time, labour and outsourcing of materials is needed to create prototype products.
Generally the time involved and costs of creating a one off piece of furniture are exponentially greater
in this stage of the design process than any other and can be the biggest hurdle, which can make or
break an idea or design.
Sourcing funding, access to materials and workshops and technological advancements in both
materials and computer animated design are a few of the significant issues that entrepreneurs face
when starting the development of a new product. The level of entrepreneurial activity in product
design industry is vast and branches off into many different facets, which does not just involve the
design of a new furniture piece or range but also into the import and export of original and replica
furniture and the expansion into other sectors in the design industry such as interior or object design.
With the use of internet blogs, website and social media platforms it has introduced the opportunity

Use Of Magic, Spells, Creatures And Magical Devices
Throughout the Harry Potter series you are introduced to many forms of magic, spells, creatures and
magical devices. One of the very first devices used in the series appears in the first book and is one of
the main components to the book and a driving role in the plot even giving the book a title. That
device is the Philosopher s stone, also known as the Sorcerer s stone. An extraordinary alchemist in
the wizarding world and long time friend of Albus Dumbledore, Nicolas Flame, created the stone. The
stone is used to create the Elixir of Life potion. When someone drinks the Elixir of Life their life is

and the troll which attacks Hermione in the bathroom brought in by Professor Quirrell. All seven
creatures or enchantments work to protect the stone from Voldemort. However, throughout the year,
Harry, Hermione, and Ron become suspicious of Snape and think that he is going to try and steal the
treasured stone. Acting on their suspicions the three friends get past the seven complications Harry
ends up having to duel Lord Voldemort and Professor Quirrell, who Voldemort was actually using to
get to the stone. Harry defeats them both, Quirrell s life is lost and Lord Voldemort is diminished from
this world again. After the battle Dumbledore and Nicolas Flamel decide to destroy the stone so that
Voldemort could not get ahold of it at a later date. Since the stone is what was keeping Nicolas Flamel
and his wife alive, they both ended up dying with the destruction of the stone. Like many other aspects
of the Potter series, the Philosopher s Stone has many political links. The most evident display of
political styles seen in the stone is perfectionism. The stone s main uses are for

The Boy Who Cried Wolf Summary
The boy who cried wolf by B.G. Hennessy retells the beloved classic with the dominant theme of
honesty. The plot in this book is what relates to the theme. Because the boy was bored, he decided to
play a trick on the villagers. The boy cries, Wolf! Wolf! and the villagers come running to help the
shepherd boy. When they get to the field and discover the boy was playing a trick on them they are
angry. Later, the boy is bored again and plays the same trick, the villagers come running to help and
again the boy laughs at them for falling for his trick. However, when an actual wolf comes and the boy
yells for help, the villagers think he is playing a trick on them again and don t come to help him.
Therefore, because of the events that take place the boy learns to be honest or when it counts no one

The Man Behind the Lines Essay
A man of innovation, style, and creator of labyrinthine masterpieces in all media, Alphonse Mucha is
often named the greatest and most influential Czech artists. As one of the fathers of Art Nouveau,
Mucha developed a reputation with his posters, architecture, jewelry and sculpture that had never been
seen before; a complex weaving of lines and pastel colors featuring voluptuous women and a harmony
that can only be described as: Mucha style. His graphic designs and posters often hold the limelight of
Mucha s ability, but the complexity of his imagination and inspiration show another deep dimension

He set out to create his own destiny in Vienna building sets for the plays and remained with the
theatre, despite the rollercoaster of hardships and opportunity that proceeded. In 1887, he moved to
Paris from the generosity of Count KhuenBalasi, to study and begin his journey in true art. During this
time Paris was at the beginning of its state of economic recovery from the Franco Prussian war, so the
nation was flourishing and rebuilding with a vibrant optimistic outlook (Mucha S, 11.) Paris,
following the industrial revolution led by Britain, began constructing new inventions, vehicles, and
processes. A prolific example is the monumental building of the Eiffel Tower for the World s Fair. The
world of art was responding to this new boom of wrenches and gears with: Art Nouveau, a highly
stylized and decorative art, framing the importance of organic, botanical, and true form of the objects.
So while the world focused on exact and complicated features, the artists in Paris were simplifying,
making decadence, and flow emerge out of their art. The one who had the most harmony, intensity and
influence in Paris was Mucha. Mucha was fascinated with another Fin de siÚcle Parisian movement:

Female Genital Motimilation
There are four types of female genital mutilation. The first is clitoridectomy, where a portion of or the
whole clitoris is removed; at times it is only the prepuce that is cut away. The second is excision; this
is the removal or partial removal of the clitoris along with the labia minor and at times the labia major.
The third and most severe type is infibulation, in which women have their labia cut and the remaining
tissue is stitched together closing the vaginal opening slightly. The fourth type is considered any harm
done to the female genitalia for non medical purposes; this includes piercing, cutting, pricking, or
burning of the tissue (Abdel Azim, 2013). There is no anesthesia or pain medicine provided to the

an infertility rate of 30% (Shell, 2017). The infibulated scar makes it hard to conceive a child, and

community that he is not a man and making him question his masculinity. The woman fears that she

a 16.3% divorce rate among women who have undergone female genital mutilation (Shell,

much as possible while Jon s parents did not live in the same city as the couple so it was not possible
to meet with them. The couples did not give the researcher permission to interact with them outside of
these fields. The researcher was not able to meet with the couples friends and see how they interact
among their peers. While this would have provided interesting data on the subject, the priority of the
research was on their parents and so, the lack of data on their peers did not negatively impact the
research.
For the participant observation, the couples were given the choice of deciding on the meeting place as
well as the time and date. The goal was to let them be in control as much as possible as a means to
make them be comfortable with the research. All the interviews that were conducted with the couples
were informal. This was done purposely so that the couples would be at ease and think that we were
having a normal conversation as friends and I, as the researcher, was simply curious about their
relationship. This is an essential part of the research for the degree to which trust and cooperation
(rapport) are established influences to large extent the degree to which information gathered in
participant observation is accurate and dependable (Dewalt Dewalt 2011: 47). The intention was for

Symptoms And Treatment Of Trypanosoma Brucei
Trypanosoma brucei is a member of the Trypanosomatidae family, is protozoan of order
Kinetoplastida. They cause African trypanosomiasis or sleeping sickness as it is most commonly
known, a parasitic disease it causes an infection in the brain and the meninges (Stanghellini Josenando
2001). Trypanosoma brucei have 3 different sub species, these being T. brucei gambiense which
causes chronic trypanosomiasis which has a slow onset in humans, T. brucei rhodesiense which causes
acute trypanosomiasis with a fast onset. With the last sub species being T. brucei brucei which causes
animal African Trypanosomiasis. It is a neglected tropical disease and is found primarily in the
continent of Africa with up to 60 million people affected in 35 African countries. Failure to treat this is
fatal (Ekwanzala et al. 1996), however there are currently four drugs on the market for the treatment,
these being pentamidine, melarsoprol, eflornithine and suramin (Wéry 1994).
There are 2 forms of Trypanosoma brucei, these being bloodstream form and the procyclic form
(Colasante et al. 2006). The bloodstream form should be eradicated by the adaptive immune response,
but this is prevented by the variable surface glycoproteins(Overath et al. 1994). These are adaptable as
they form a new unique set of proteins every 1/100 cell divisions to evade the surface protein specific
response. Trypomastigotes can multiply in the bloodstream as the slender form where once the
population is high enough,

Synthesis Of Nasa
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or NASA is an organization accountable for
phenomenal space exploration. The breakthrough for this agency was on their Apollo 11 mission with
the first moon landing in July 1969 with Neil Armstrong being the first man on the moon. His
prominent phrase That s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind sparked a flame for space
exploration in the hearts of millions. This feat was unheard of at this time period since the Apollo 11

Editing And The Writing Process
Literature Review In examining recent literature on the topic of editing in the writing process, three
areas appear to be of some concern in dealing with this issue: 1) The true definition of editing and the
editing process, 2) The perceived role and responsibilities of the teacher and students, and 3) Effective
editing strategies that will increase student learning. In order to truly implement editing strategies that
will impact the learner, the first two areas must be addressed.
In the review of the literature, I found that many students and teachers alike had some misconceptions
about the true definition of editing and the roles that each must play. Often times, the editing process
and the revision process were mistakenly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second area that needs to be addressed is the role the teacher and students play in the editing
stage. Teachers, English teachers in particular, are experts in editing. This is suggested through their
daily activities of correcting papers (Littauer, 1996; Parsons 2001). Joel Littauer (1996) also suggests
that students have no editing skills because the teacher does all the editing. It is of no wonder that
students do not have the skills of editing. Parsons (2001) states that unless students are taught and
forced to implement correct language, they will continue to make the same mistakes. He also makes
the point of putting the responsibility of editing back to the person who does the writing. In the case of
a classroom, the teacher must teach the students to edit their work, and the students must take the
responsibility to do so. In accomplishing this task, the students will have taken one more step in
becoming successful writers. In order to accomplish this task however, teachers must find and
implement editing strategies that will work for them and their students. In conducting my literature
review, I found three strategies that were dominant in much of my research. The first strategy was one
that was technology driven. In this strategy, the computer word processor is used as a tool for the
stages of writing. Jarvis (1997), Diehm (1998), as well as Parsons (2001), all give good reasons to use
this tool as a strategy for editing. In

Heros and Sidekicks Eastern Western and Modern Mythology....
Heroes and their sidekicks have been a consistent motif in mythology from the very first civilization,
to the ancient Greeks, and even to popular culture now. Three specific stories with very similar hero
sidekick themes are the relationships between Gilgamesh and Enkidu in the Epic of Gilgamesh,
Achilles and Patroclus in the Iliad, and Batman and Robin in the graphic novel Death in the Family.
This essay will explore the similarities and differences between these important pieces of literature.
The three mythologies are quite different in relation to the three pairs relationships with each other.
The Iliad takes place during the Heroic age on the Peloponnese and the kingdom of Troy. Achilles
knew Patroclus since they were children. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some interpret Gilgamesh s relationship with Enkidu in a homosexual way as their relationship starts
in a wrestling match followed by an embrace. There are also many other homoerotic embraces all
throughout the story. (SparkNotes Editors) Others interpret this as nothing more than a friendship.
(SparkNotes Editors) They become so close that Gilgamesh s mother, Ninsun, adopts Enkidu as a son
making Gilgamesh and Enkidu brothers. Enkidu s purpose is to give Gilgamesh an equal and tone
down his arrogance and selfish acts as king. Since Gilgamesh had a companion, he desired to go on an
adventure and kill something for their own personal glory. They decided to go and kill Humbaba.
Because Gilgamesh now had Enkidu, his focus shifted away from raping women and other cruel acts
just as the elders prayed for. His subjects started to like Gilgamesh a lot more especially after he and
Enkidu kill the Bull of Heaven. Enkidu dies to an illness cast from the gods shortly after they defeat
the Bull of Heaven. (Daley) Gilgamesh mourns Enkidu s death by casting away his royal garments
and casting himself into the wilderness while wearing Enkidu s clothing. Enkidu s death shockingly
reminds Gilgamesh of his own mortality. Gilgamesh then goes on an adventure to find the secret of
immortality. While Enkidu was alive, Gilgamesh was obsessed with being remembered forever. When

Syrian Revolution Research Paper
Despite its reputation for almost anarchism like conditions, Syria is a complex country with an
interesting history and government affairs.
The country we know today was not always known as Syria . The beginning is thought to be when
Prince Faisal captured Damascus in 1918. In 1920, France enforces the Sykes Pico treaty, removing
Faisal from power and claiming Syria and surrounding areas. Riots by the citizens wanting to escape
French rule eventually cause their oppressors to withdraw, and after WWII, all of the French were
gone. Michel Aflaq and Salah al Din al Bitar founded the Arab Socialist Baath Party in 1947. This was
disbanded between 1949 1952. Army officers then rebel, bringing back a civilian government and

Concern over the joining of ISIS has also caused extreme measures to be taken, such as banning
burqas because of fears that they will encourage students to join the extremists. Most citizens hate the
government due to the torture of 15 schoolchildren who were writing graffiti on the wall back in 2011,
and the government s reaction to the protests.
Syria is a small country bordered by Iraq, Turkey, Jordan, Israel, and Lebanon. The majority of the
Western side of the country is bordered by the Mediterranean sea. Most of the land is dry and dusty,
with gigantic sand dunes and flat terrain due to the Syrian desert covering most of the country.
However, there are oases present. There are two mountain ranges in the 71,998 mile country (which
also has the Euphrates river in its borders): The Anti Lebanon Mountains and abal an Nusayriyah.
Syria s population consists of 230,018,387 individuals as of January 1st of 2015. 35.2% are under 15,
61% are between 15 and 64, and 3.8% are over 64. More than 4 million refugees have fled the country
since 2011. 86% of adults (15+) can read as of 2013. 90.3% are Arabs, and 9.7% are other ethnicities
(Kurds, Armenians, etc.) Arabic is the national language, although Kurdish, Armenian, and Aramaic
are also spoken. 57.7% live in Urban areas. 4% of children are used in child labor.

Because I couldn’t stop for death by Emily Dickson and...
First of all, based on both poems, the attitude of the poets is influenced by the diction of the poems as
well as tone and mood. In Emily Dickinson s poem, in line 1, 2 Because I couldn t stop for death He
kindly stopped for me the word death delivers a positive mood as the speaker seems respect and awe
death. Moreover, death is portrayed as a phenomenon that is beyond ‎
human s control. Death has its
own control; it is something that human cannot decide themselves but only death can do stop for
human, invite them into its carriage, not vice versa. In ‎
addition, the word kindly in the line presents
calmness to the readers as death is not something that human should scare off. Besides, the word
slowly and the phrase no haste in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, in contrast to Emily s poem, the speaker undervalues death s supremacy as its power is
actually not in its own control. It is a contradictory to Emily s poem. In line 9 Thou art slave to fate,
chance, kings, and desperate men indicates death as a slave as it does what has been ordered from the
superior ones. Death takes human s life not because he is willing to do so but because he is forced to
do so. In line 10 11, And dost with poison, war and sickness... can make us sleep as well the speaker
associates death with poison, war and sickness as death is not the only factor of human s deceases
which then the speaker posts rhetorical question for death to stop being proud. Also, the usage of
rhetorical questions like in line 2 For thou art not so makes death fragile. Further, the last line in this
poem And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die points out that at the end, the only one who
dies is death itself which will be discussed in the element of Christian theology in this essay. The
ending also eventually argues that death is weak and vulnerable, not in control and that is the reason
why human should not fear death. All the arguments made by the speaker in this poem creates death
less powerful and less control of itself which illustrates a condescending tone to elucidate death s
incapability to kill. Hence, both poets; Emily Dickinson and John Donne portray death as a
phenomenon that human should not fear. But

In early Egypt, they had lots of sports, from handball to fishing to rowing. The Egyptians got creative
when it came to sports. Field hockey was a popular activity where they would use palm tree branches
and a papyrus to play. Rowing was also something very popular, people liked rowing to get to exercise
and compete. Rowing in ancient Egypt sports is no different than rowing today. Hunting was a fun
sport for Egyptians, especially archery, javelin, and fishing. Not all did these things to hunt, some just
for fun and for competition. The Nile was a good source to fish from and became very helpful. The

made two culture vials by first placing about 1.5 cm of flakes along with about four grains of yeast

flakes and yeast to hydrate them. This will cause the flakes and yeast to turn blue, and the solution is

fly solution is to be added once more to rehydrate the media. After the media is made, a net is folded

Multicultural Resetting
In order to develop a deeper sense of awareness about the challenges of working with children within
a multicultural resetting, and also to further develop my inclusive research, choosing a methodology
was an essential step together with understanding different criteria for the assessment of educational
research as discussed in Teaching and Learning Research Briefing , no 80, 2009. But before deciding
on a methodology for this project, it is important to mention that the scope of my investigation is not
finding a solution to a problem, but rather learning about potential issues related to working with
children in a multicultural nursery setting, and problematise the diversity and inclusion aspects
derived from this using critical thinking and academic research methodology. The process of research
required an approach to interviewing, mainly the necessity to plan and conduct a narrative interview,
which can be defined by an interaction or dialogue with one or more individuals in order to build a
narration of their lives within a certain environment. (Soler, 2013) A narrative based methodology in

At this moment, Louisiana is losing football fields worth of wetlands every hour all due to giant oil

so that they can engage in offshore exploration in the Gulf of Mexico. The wetlands were ground zero
for where drilling started in Louisiana. These companies carved 10 000 miles of canals in search of oil

of wetlands, coastal erosion and lack of fishing all due to industry activity. What s even worse is that
these marshes serve as a natural barrier from hurricanes, which Louisiana is susceptible to. The

The Pros And Cons Of Driverless Cars
Our future is intense and frightening, but overall, unpredictable. We will have driverless cars soon in
our world. They will overtake our roads and means of transportation. In my opinion, I think there is
both good and bad with these driverless cars. There is both pros and cons dealing with this future. This
future for cars will reduce drunk driving, reduce traffic jams, and reduce expense on the driver and our
planet. The downside however, will come with putting millions out of business. Driverless cars are
technology, and technology is not perfect, it sometimes crashes and does not always work the way we
want it to. We do know that humanity is not perfect either. Humanity makes mistakes just as much as
technology. So in this essay, I will talk about perspective one, perspective two, and perspective three,
all talking about how driverless cars are good and bad for the future of our world. Firstly, perspective
one talks about how driverless cars are an amazing idea. They will save countless lives, protect the
environment, and allow more transportation options for the poor. The benefits of driverless cars will
vastly outweigh any short term drawbacks. I agree and disagree with this perspective. I agree because
what it is saying is true. I disagree because it does not talk about the bad things of what it will do.
What if these driverless cars go rogue and kill a pedestrian or passenger. They will give more good
things to the world but they will also give bad

Choosing a career field is one of life s most important and difficult decisions. But knowing what your
expectations are and then comparing them to the realities will help you make educated decisions.
Change is an unstoppable process and the fastest change in today s world is in the field of business.
Businesses have to be prepared to adopt any change that takes place. That s why I choose business
Management/Law as my career field because my family already own businesses like hotels and
convenience stores. The main reason I choose this as my career field is because there are a lots of
great opportunities available for people with business management/law degrees. Creating and running
a successful business has always been a challenge where only the strong can survive and in the world
of modern business with new advance technology managers or owners need good knowledge to top
hard training with serious set of skills. My parents always told me as successful business owners that
to be successful in running your own business you need to have more than just talent. You must have
access to ocean full of resources which will help you in making your business successful in the long
run. For that you need the proper training and knowledge that will help you select the right place of

L.L. Bean Case Study Essay

Case Study #3: L.L. Bean
Question 1: How does L.L. Bean use past demand data and a specific item forecast to decide how
many units of that item to stock?
L.L. Bean uses several different calculations in order to determine the number of units of a particular
item it should stock, whether it is a new item or a never out item. The first piece of data that is
required is a point forecast for the item in the future period. This comes from the forecasting
department, and is based off of the book forecast and past demand data. For a new item, there is a lot
more judgment involved, especially with trying to estimate how much demand this new product will
generate. This point forecast is then used in conjunction with the A/F ... Show more content on

They first need to know what the cost is to make an item. They also need to know the selling price of
the item. From these two pieces of data, they can then calculate the profit generated from each
individual item (profit = selling price cost of item). The third piece of data they need is the price if
they item becomes liquidated. Thus, they can calculate the loss of an individual item if it becomes
liquidated. Using these calculations, they can use the methods mentioned in Question #1 to make a
decision of how many units of a particular item to stock.
Essentially, we need to compare the costs associated with understocking and overstocking inventory.
The costs of understocking, as mentioned above, not only includes short terms losses like the loss of
the sale for that item at that time, but also include loss of future business due to customer
dissatisfaction. We must also consider that if a particular item is not in stock, the entire purchase
orders may be cancelled as per the terms and conditions not being met. The costs of overstocking
include the cost to hold that inventory but we also need to consider that it might change if the salvage
value of a product leftover depends on the number of units remaining at the end of the season. If we
have a lot of product leftover, then the liquidation value might be a lot less. We have to take all these
factors into consideration when making the decision of how many

Honor Is Love In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold By Gabriel...
Honor is Love in Chronicle of a Death Foretold In Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia
Marquez, honor is a very prominent theme in the town and its culture. The need for honor influences
many actions taken by individuals and traditions that characters strictly follow. As the narrator s
mother states, honor is love. The reader sees this statement supported throughout the story through
beliefs and actions of the Vicario twins, Angela s mother, and the townspeople as a whole. Honor is
such a guiding force in the small community that it almost replaces what love should be. Pura Vicario,
Angela s mother, for example, values honor more than she values true family cherishing and love.
Angela s twin brothers have high respect for their own family honor, and they strive to uphold it by
showing their love for their sister in hunting Santiago to retrieve her honor. The townspeople display
their devotion to honor as they do not attempt to stop Santiago Nasar s death. The qualified statement
honor is love applies to the novel in actions by the twins, Angela s mother, and the townspeople, and
how their desperation to defend honor controls them. First, the Vicario brothers prove to be very clear
examples of honor is love through their actions to kill Santiago Nasar. Although they do not quite
desire to murder him, they know that in order to gain their mother s love and show their own love for
Angela, they have to kill Santiago. Pablo and Pedro realize that they must not allow

The Benefits of Living in a Democracy
When someone thinks about the upper class, the majority of people may think about living in a big
house or driving a nice car. But in truth, as G. William Domhoff explains in his book, Who Rules
America? , there is an upper class that is much more than that. Domhoff describes the upper class as
closely intertwined with the corporate community. He begins by explaining why it is important to
know this, and provides statistics that seem to show how the upper class attempts to influence
corporations. Domhoff states that from grade school to grad school, upper class children are trained to
excel in the corporate level, giving them an advantage in obtaining the highest positions in the
corporate world. Domhoff also explains how the upper class ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As stated before, social clubs and boarding school are very similar due to the fact that they are able to
meet new people that are in the same social status. Domhoff emphasizes this importance because it is
the only things left that people of this upper class is able to retreat to in order to share their ideas and
thoughts. This is shown in a study,
Two separate studies demonstrate the way in which this one club intertwines the upper class wit the
entire corporate community. In 1970, according to the first study, 29% of the top 800 corporations had
at least one officer or director at the Bohemian Grove festivities: in 1980 the figure was 30%.(58)
This figure shows that Domhoff is correct in showing a large number of important corporate
individuals attending this event together. Although one may think that it is possible that many
corporate leaders go to this festival, because it may be hosted by a well known person. In fact, in order
to join the festivities you must be a member of the club. Although the club is very wide known among
the upper class, it is also a very exclusive one. The only middle class individuals, who are members,
are persons who exchange the membership by entertaining its guests. Other than that a person can
only join if you get invited by another member, but can be revoked if other members are against it.

The Existence Of Ancient Chinese Medicine
In ancient China, it was relatively rare to dissect or otherwise violate human bodies because of a
teaching from Confucius that the human body is sacred and not to be cut with a knife^, therefore the
knowledge of anatomy in ancient China weren t often based on scientific knowledge, but instead
assumption and reasoning.^ Thus many, if not all, of Chinese medicine are considered pseudoscience
because it lacks scientific evidence for its effectiveness.^ Any effects from following traditional
Chinese medicine are most likely to be psychological, as opposed to any actual biological healing
taking place. And so, it s still important to advise caution when using conventional medicines and go

executed between 1979 1981.
With the political strife increasing in the nation the Shah was forced into exile with his family. This all
happened on January 16,1979 two weeks after this event Khomeini returned to Iran after fourteen
years in exile. March 1 1979 Khomeini established the Islamic Republic of Iran and Khomeini being
its first political and religious leader. Khomeini determined to transform Iran into an Islamic state.
Khomeini reinstated and imposed Islamic law anything that was western and established punishments
under Islamic law if caught.
Therefore Khomeini s foreign policy was abandonment of the Shah western direction. This led him to
have hostility both superpowers at the time. During this time of restructuring Iran tried to export its
brand of Islamic revival to other neighboring Muslim countries. On October 1979 President Carter
allowed for the Shah to the U.S. to receive treatment for cancer. This outraged the country of Iran.
On November 4 1979 Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini sanctioned for Iranian students to seize the U.S.
embassy in Tehran. With his approval the crowd gathered and marched to the embassy to seize it. A
mob of angry militants gathered on the streets shouting anti American slogans. At 10:30 am 3,000
people jumped the ten foot wall that separated the embassy from the streets. The mob surrounded the

Jewish Resistance In Ww2
Jewish Resistance
Jews weren t the only ones resisting, anti Nazi groups formed and resisted along with them. Most Jews
who resisted were called partisans, these were unorganized military groups who fought against
Germany. Throughout the years roughly 1941 through 1945, the most uprisings occurred. This is when
Jews were forced into ghettos, slave camps and concentration camps.
The Nazis targeted Jews, gypsies, and Jehovas Wittenesses but primarily Jews. The Nazis sorted
through them and Jews wore the yellow star of David. In 1939 the Nazis rounded them up and put
them in ghettos. Life in ghettos wasnt easy and Jews made secret work behind the Nazis back. These
camps would isolate the Jews from the superior race also known as the Germans. Then theyd be

liking it and killed about half of the remaining prisoners. In Sobibor about 300 prisoners escaped and
killed 11 S.S officers in the process. In one of the biggest camps there also was revolts. In Auschwitz
prisoners rebelled after learning their fate. The rebellion went horribly and no prisoners escaped but
leaving hundreds dead. Those who did escape either hid or joined the partisans. These partisans took
no mercy and did whatever they could to irritate and strike fear into the Nazis. There bases were
mostly located in the dense forest. They derailed huge amounts of trains which would oventually wear

Privilege To Vote
Voting is a Privilege
As a person of color, I encourage all who have the ability to vote to do so. It is something that should
not be taken for granted. My parents are immigrants and consequently are deprived from voting due to
the lack of a document. This makes me realize the privilege that I have in being able to vote. In my
community, I see people who are forced to stay silent and have their lives in the United States shaped
by those who have the privilege to exercise their democratic right to vote. When deciding whether or
not to vote, keep in mind marginalized communities such as immigrants, undocumented young people
who seek a better life and education in the United States, Muslims, whose identity and religion are
criminalized, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Society builds their own truths, and what they want to consider is good or bad, but it is this own
dichotomy of good and bad that is actually causing self harm to society. This mindset simplifies our
own thinking because we are limiting ourselves to an either or basis and do not focus on the grey area
between good and bad, because our reality is never just black and white; these are just generic terms.
In hindsight, the problems that we see today are a result of the detrimental and lethal effects of the
choices that our past presidents have made on the lives of people of color abroad and within the
United States. It is you who has the power to vote for a presidential candidate that will advocate for
those who have no voice, fight for social justice and amend the actions of those in power who have
lacked empathy and compassion. Voting in the California primaries was necessary, yet too many did
not go out and vote. But your vote this November is indispensable. Not his, or hers, but yours. You
have the voice. Use it. Be the voice of your community. Let their history and culture be heard. End the
oppression.

The Cultural Theorists Karl Marx, Looking Into His Idea Of...
The Bindi, which is loosely known as the Tika , Pottu , Sindoor , Tilak , Tilakam , and Kumkum (Das,
2014) is a decorative dot that was traditionally worn by Hindu women in the middle of the forehead
(Antony, 2010). Bindi is a word that was obtained from the Sanskrit (a sacred language of Hinduism)
word bindu meaning drop or dot . Bindi has been interpreted throughout India in ways of having
spiritual devotions in relation to the Hindu religion and is also an indication of one being married.
Although it maintains a traditional meaning to those from India and the Hindu religion, it has since
then become that of a fashion accessory. The aim of this assignment will discuss the cultural theorist
Karl Marx, looking into his Idea of commodity fetishism. The second concept that will be used in this
essay is that of Stuart Hall and his idea of Encoding and Decoding and thirdly, this paper will discuss
cultural appropriation in relation to the use of bindi in society today.
The traditional bindi has religious and social significance to the people of India and those of the Hindu
religion. In a religious context there are three common meanings behind the bindi, one of these is the
area in which the bindi is placed (between the eyebrows). This is known as the third eye or the sixth
chakra, it is believed to possess energy which then controls concentration levels whilst meditating
(Das, 2014). Secondly, it is also seen as being a protective symbol in a way that is

  • 2. Nicole Oresme Research Paper Nicole Oresme Abstract Nicole Oresme, also known as Nicolas Oresme, was born around 1320 in the 14th century on the outskirts of the Norman city of Caen. Unfortunately, nothing was known of his family. Oresme was known as one of the most famous scholastic philosophers of the middle age s. He was known for many different subjects including; economics, physics, astrology, astronomy, theology, philosophy, and mathematics. Oresme earned his doctorate of arts from the University of Paris between the years of 1341 1342. In the same year he became grand master of the College of Navarre. He mainly wrote in the language of Latin but also wrote in French [1]. Oresme was appointed canon in 1362 and later in 1364 was made dean of the Cathedral of Rouen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He came about the idea to use rectangular coordinates and geometric figures to explain uniform and non uniform distribution of various quantities. For example, he worked on the change of velocity in relation to time. More importantly, this helped lay a strong foundation that later led to the discovery of analytic geometry by René Descartes. Oresme used his geometric figures to give the first proof of the Merton theorem, shown in figure 1 below. This theorem states, The distance traveled in any given period by a body moving under uniform acceleration is the same as if the body moved at a uniform speed equal to its speed at the midpoint of the period [2]. Some believe that this resulted in later discoveries of kinematics, affecting the later work of Galileo s. Figure 1 Another mathematical contribution was the development of the first proof of the divergence of the harmonic series. Oresme s proof had less advanced mathematics then the modern proof today. His proof on the harmonic series was not touched on until later centuries, and was only replicated by the Bernoulli brothers [1]. Oresmes proof groups the harmonic terms by taking 2, 4, 8, 16, and so on, after the first two terms, and noting that each block has a sum larger than a Âœ [3]. Resulting ... Thomas Hardy Notes on Hap Author: Thomas Hardy First Published: 1898 Type of Poem: Sonnet Genres: Poetry, Sonnet Subjects: Suffering, Despair, God, Pain, Good and evil, Gods or goddesses, Fate or fatalism, Life, philosophy of, Life and death, Time, Joy or sorrow, Luck or misfortune The Poem Thomas Hardy has structured Hap to meet all the requirements of the form of an English sonnet: Its fourteen lines are written in iambic pentameter, the rhyme scheme abab, cdcd, efef, gg is complied with, and the three quatrains are followed by a rhymed couplet to conclude the poem. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Hap Thomas Hardy *If you need to find something quickly, I suggest you hit CTRL + F and type in what you are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The idea however is quite challenging. It reminds me of a young philosopher who is questioning why bad things happen to good people. Surely it is chance, but what Hardy is hinting towards is what if it is a bad thing only because we THINK it is a bad thing? It is almost circular. I do not know much about Hardy but what I do know is that he tried really hard to believe in god but in the end, he came out completely agnostic. This poem shows that struggle. Hap is a poem by Thomas Hardy (1840 1928) that he wrote in 1866, while working as a trainee architect, and for which he could not find a publisher. It did not reach the general public until 1898 when Hardy included it in his first collection, which was entitled Wessex Poems , which only appeared after he had concluded his career as a highly successful novelist. The poem is a sonnet, although it is presented as three stanzas in that the traditional octave is split into two stanzas each of four lines and the sestet is a stanza on its own. The rhyme scheme is ABAB CDCD EFEFFE, which is a variant on the Shakespearean form, although the clean break between octave and sestet is more associated with the Petrarchan sonnet form. The poem can be seen as Hardy s reaction to the basic thinking that underlies Darwin s The Origin of Species which had been published in 1859. Hardy understood Darwin to imply that the mechanism that drove natural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The process requires millions of gallons of water which is mixed with numerous chemicals sometimes sand or other substances to prevent the cracks from closing. Fracking has been blamed for numerous issues from methane gas releases, contaminating ground water, to causing earth quakes. Liquids used in the process are stored on site in holding tanks or ponds and are sometimes pumped back into the ground using waste wells. Fracking has become a common practice to increase production on old and new drilling operations. Experts predicted 100,000 new jobs in Texas will be created in the Oil and Gas industries by 2018 bring the total to over 400,000. The rush to create these jobs and boost the economy has given rise to a reduction in environmental regulations. Lobbing efforts by corporations at the state level have resulted in the introduction bills and laws limiting the authority of local municipalities to regulate drilling activities. Cities would be allowed to regulate surface activities such as noise, lights and traffic but not drilling itself. Numerous bills have been introduced to the Texas Legislature to put limits on local control. The comfort of tradition over the anxiety of change, stated Jason Recker, a journalist for The Herald. Patoka Reservoir, an economic center for recreation and flood control, encompasses 8,800 acres of land. Before its construction, a thriving community inhabited the fertile terrain along the Patoka River. Towns of this former neighborhood included Elon, Newton Stewart, and Ellsworth. (Kreitzer 66) These roads also articulated an abundance of inhabitants and their cultural mannerisms. James Marvin Ellis, born June 30, 1842, sparked the foundation of Ellsworth. Although Ellis did not receive a sufficient education as a child, at the age of thirty two he both cultivated one hundred sixty acres of farmland and managed a general store. (History 759) Not only did Ellis publicly exert himself, but his private life prospered as well. Ellis and his wife, Mary A. Beaty, brought forth seven children to the local population: Marvin U., Hester J., Elliot E., Thomas G., Joseph A., and Lotta A. (Ellis 1). In addition to agriculture, family, and merchandising, he also served as the town s original postmaster (History 760). This holds importance because a post office provided a town s first official identification (Kreitzer 65). Ellis societal involvement ventured much further than the town of Ellsworth, though. At the age of nineteen, Ellis enlisted in the Civil War. He served in Company A , Forty Ninth Indiana Volunteers, beginning on September 25, 1861. For two and a half years, Ellis fought in many battles until harshly wounded at Champion Hill in mid 1863. Although he would suffer from these wounds for the rest of his life, Ellis readmitted himself to military service in early 1864. He fought until the conclusion of the war a year later. Entrepreneurship And The Industrial Design Industry Entrepreneurship in the Industrial Design Industry Entrepreneurship This research report will explore the key issues of entrepreneurship in the industrial design industry, specifically zoning in on the furniture design sector. The Collins English Dictionary gives the definition of an entrepreneur as; the owner or manager of a business enterprise who, by risk and initiative, attempts to make profits. (Collins , 2011) This is extremely relevant in the product design sector as money, time, labour and outsourcing of materials is needed to create prototype products. Generally the time involved and costs of creating a one off piece of furniture are exponentially greater in this stage of the design process than any other and can be the biggest hurdle, which can make or break an idea or design. Sourcing funding, access to materials and workshops and technological advancements in both materials and computer animated design are a few of the significant issues that entrepreneurs face when starting the development of a new product. The level of entrepreneurial activity in product design industry is vast and branches off into many different facets, which does not just involve the design of a new furniture piece or range but also into the import and export of original and replica furniture and the expansion into other sectors in the design industry such as interior or object design. He set out to create his own destiny in Vienna building sets for the plays and remained with the theatre, despite the rollercoaster of hardships and opportunity that proceeded. In 1887, he moved to Paris from the generosity of Count KhuenBalasi, to study and begin his journey in true art. During this time Paris was at the beginning of its state of economic recovery from the Franco Prussian war, so the nation was flourishing and rebuilding with a vibrant optimistic outlook (Mucha S, 11.) Paris, following the industrial revolution led by Britain, began constructing new inventions, vehicles, and processes. A prolific example is the monumental building of the Eiffel Tower for the World s Fair. The world of art was responding to this new boom of wrenches and gears with: Art Nouveau, a highly stylized and decorative art, framing the importance of organic, botanical, and true form of the objects. So while the world focused on exact and complicated features, the artists in Paris were simplifying, making decadence, and flow emerge out of their art. There are 2 forms of Trypanosoma brucei, these being bloodstream form and the procyclic form (Colasante et al. 2006). The bloodstream form should be eradicated by the adaptive immune response, but this is prevented by the variable surface glycoproteins(Overath et al. 1994). Editing And The Writing Process Literature Review In examining recent literature on the topic of editing in the writing process, three areas appear to be of some concern in dealing with this issue: 1) The true definition of editing and the editing process, 2) The perceived role and responsibilities of the teacher and students, and 3) Effective editing strategies that will increase student learning. In order to truly implement editing strategies that will impact the learner, the first two areas must be addressed. The second area that needs to be addressed is the role the teacher and students play in the editing stage. Teachers, English teachers in particular, are experts in editing. This is suggested through their daily activities of correcting papers (Littauer, 1996; Parsons 2001). Joel Littauer (1996) also suggests that students have no editing skills because the teacher does all the editing. It is of no wonder that students do not have the skills of editing. Parsons (2001) states that unless students are taught and forced to implement correct language, they will continue to make the same mistakes. He also makes the point of putting the responsibility of editing back to the person who does the writing. In the case of a classroom, the teacher must teach the students to edit their work, and the students must take the responsibility to do so. In accomplishing this task, the students will have taken one more step in becoming successful writers. In order to accomplish this task however, teachers must find and implement editing strategies that will work for them and their students. In conducting my literature review, I found three strategies that were dominant in much of my research. The first strategy was one that was technology driven. In this strategy, the computer word processor is used as a tool for the stages of writing. Jarvis (1997), Diehm (1998), as well as Parsons (2001), all give good reasons to use this tool as a strategy for editing. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a contradictory to Emily s poem. In line 9 Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men indicates death as a slave as it does what has been ordered from the superior ones. Death takes human s life not because he is willing to do so but because he is forced to do so. In line 10 11, And dost with poison, war and sickness... can make us sleep as well the speaker associates death with poison, war and sickness as death is not the only factor of human s deceases which then the speaker posts rhetorical question for death to stop being proud. Also, the usage of rhetorical questions like in line 2 For thou art not so makes death fragile. Further, the last line in this poem And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die points out that at the end, the only one who dies is death itself which will be discussed in the element of Christian theology in this essay. The ending also eventually argues that death is weak and vulnerable, not in control and that is the reason why human should not fear death. That is why Drosophila melanogaster is a great model organisms because it fits all these characteristics. Then, with a glass pipette, a solution of water and 1% propionic acid is added to the flakes and yeast to hydrate them. This will cause the flakes and yeast to turn blue, and the solution is added until it is a consistent bright blue color where no isolated flakes are visible (it is helpful to mash up the flakes and yeast). Once the necessary color is established, the vials need to sit for about eight to ten hours. If whenever, at any time during the experiment, the media cracks or has a faded color, the fly solution is to be added once more to rehydrate the media. After the media is made, a net is folded lengthwise first and then placed into the vial in a shape of a U so that flies will be able to pupate. Finally, the vials were labeled with a vial number according to the cross setup, the date made, our group number, and the initials of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Multicultural Resetting In order to develop a deeper sense of awareness about the challenges of working with children within a multicultural resetting, and also to further develop my inclusive research, choosing a methodology was an essential step together with understanding different criteria for the assessment of educational research as discussed in Teaching and Learning Research Briefing , no 80, 2009. But before deciding on a methodology for this project, it is important to mention that the scope of my investigation is not finding a solution to a problem, but rather learning about potential issues related to working with children in a multicultural nursery setting, and problematise the diversity and inclusion aspects derived from this using critical thinking and academic research methodology. The process of research required an approach to interviewing, mainly the necessity to plan and conduct a narrative interview, which can be defined by an interaction or dialogue with one or more individuals in order to build a narration of their lives within a certain environment. The oil and gas industry have been bidding for control over Louisiana s wetlands so that they can engage in offshore exploration in the Gulf of Mexico. They will overtake our roads and means of transportation. In my opinion, I think there is both good and bad with these driverless cars. There is both pros and cons dealing with this future. This future for cars will reduce drunk driving, reduce traffic jams, and reduce expense on the driver and our planet. The downside however, will come with putting millions out of business. Driverless cars are technology, and technology is not perfect, it sometimes crashes and does not always work the way we want it to. We do know that humanity is not perfect either. Humanity makes mistakes just as much as technology. So in this essay, I will talk about perspective one, perspective two, and perspective three, all talking about how driverless cars are good and bad for the future of our world. Firstly, perspective one talks about how driverless cars are an amazing idea. They will save countless lives, protect the environment, and allow more transportation options for the poor. The benefits of driverless cars will vastly outweigh any short term drawbacks. I agree and disagree with this perspective. I agree because what it is saying is true. I disagree because it does not talk about the bad things of what it will do. What if these driverless cars go rogue and kill a pedestrian or passenger. Bean use past demand data and a specific item forecast to decide how many units of that item to stock? L.L. Bean uses several different calculations in order to determine the number of units of a particular item it should stock, whether it is a new item or a never out item. The first piece of data that is required is a point forecast for the item in the future period. This comes from the forecasting department, and is based off of the book forecast and past demand data. For a new item, there is a lot more judgment involved, especially with trying to estimate how much demand this new product will generate. This point forecast is then used in conjunction with the A/F ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They first need to know what the cost is to make an item. They also need to know the selling price of the item. From these two pieces of data, they can then calculate the profit generated from each individual item (profit = selling price cost of item). The third piece of data they need is the price if they item becomes liquidated. Thus, they can calculate the loss of an individual item if it becomes liquidated. Using these calculations, they can use the methods mentioned in Question #1 to make a decision of how many units of a particular item to stock. Essentially, we need to compare the costs associated with understocking and overstocking inventory. The costs of understocking, as mentioned above, not only includes short terms losses like the loss of the sale for that item at that time, but also include loss of future business due to customer dissatisfaction. We must also consider that if a particular item is not in stock, the entire purchase orders may be cancelled as per the terms and conditions not being met. The costs of overstocking include the cost to hold that inventory but we also need to consider that it might change if the salvage value of a product leftover depends on the number of units remaining at the end of the season. If we have a lot of product leftover, then the liquidation value might be a lot less. We have to take all these factors into consideration when making the decision of how many ... • 46. Honor Is Love In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold By Gabriel... Honor is Love in Chronicle of a Death Foretold In Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, honor is a very prominent theme in the town and its culture. The need for honor influences many actions taken by individuals and traditions that characters strictly follow. As the narrator s mother states, honor is love. The reader sees this statement supported throughout the story through beliefs and actions of the Vicario twins, Angela s mother, and the townspeople as a whole. Honor is such a guiding force in the small community that it almost replaces what love should be. Pura Vicario, Angela s mother, for example, values honor more than she values true family cherishing and love. Angela s twin brothers have high respect for their own family honor, and they strive to uphold it by showing their love for their sister in hunting Santiago to retrieve her honor. The townspeople display their devotion to honor as they do not attempt to stop Santiago Nasar s death. The qualified statement honor is love applies to the novel in actions by the twins, Angela s mother, and the townspeople, and how their desperation to defend honor controls them. First, the Vicario brothers prove to be very clear examples of honor is love through their actions to kill Santiago Nasar. Although they do not quite desire to murder him, they know that in order to gain their mother s love and show their own love for Angela, they have to kill Santiago. The Bindi, which is loosely known as the Tika , Pottu , Sindoor , Tilak , Tilakam , and Kumkum (Das, 2014) is a decorative dot that was traditionally worn by Hindu women in the middle of the forehead (Antony, 2010). Bindi is a word that was obtained from the Sanskrit (a sacred language of Hinduism) word bindu meaning drop or dot . Bindi has been interpreted throughout India in ways of having spiritual devotions in relation to the Hindu religion and is also an indication of one being married. Although it maintains a traditional meaning to those from India and the Hindu religion, it has since then become that of a fashion accessory.
