Analysis Of Donatello s Equestrian Monument Of Erasmo Da...
It is intriguing to notice throughout art history the relationship between the artist and the patron. Many
famous and outstanding works of art only exist because of the wealthy patron behind the work. From
early renaissance sculpture to baroque style painting, patrons become increasingly interested in
commissioning art as a way of exhibiting their great power and influence whilst maintaining an image
of poise and regality. Donatello s Equestrian Monument of Erasmo da Narni, (Gattamelata), (1443
1453) is a bronze sculpture made to commemorate the military accomplishments during Gattamelata s
lifetime. Although the sculpture was constructed after his death, Donatello represents the general as
youthful and stern. Anthony van Dyck s painting, Charles I at the Hunt, 1635, conveys a similar
interest in focusing on all the positive aspects of the patron, King Charles the ... Show more content on

The horse and Erasmo both are rendered with precision, flow, and with an accurate anatomical
representation. Detail is apparent in the muscular bodies which keeps a natural connection between the
horse and his rider. Although the subject rises above us, his disposition stays true to life. Donatello
chose to show a youthful Erasmo in his prime and hardened from battle. This further establishes
himself as a confident leader. He holds a baton diagonally in his right hand giving the statue forward
momentum. He presses onward even in death. The bronze statute sits on a plain marble base that is
arranged upon a limestone pedestal which includes the relief sculpture of the angels and battle armour.
The entire work is approximately 3.71 meters high (Stokstad, 631) with the base and statue in a
slightly deteriorated condition in present day. Donatello achieved his intense facial features by using
the lost wax method. By having individual emotions for each figure, it builds upon the overall
impressive feel to the whole

Describe The Typical Italian Dinner
This ethnographic text will describe how the typical Italian dinner is structured, through a rather
classic Saturday dinner in my house. The first paragraph will illustrate the social hierarchy of the
family when setting up the table. The following parts of the essay will describe the processes that
occur when starting the meal, and then the different rules and habits when eating.
In this family, dinner does start a specific time every day, rather, it starts when my father is finish
cooking. On this occasion, he started cooking at eight p.m., and it usually takes him between 45
minutes and an hour to finish. While he was cooking, all the other members of the family (me, my
sister, my mother and my grandmother), were all outside the kitchen, busy with our own activities.
We all reunited around the table only, when father called us when he was almost finish preparing the
food. At this moment, the rest of the family cleared off the table from all the objects that do not belong
to the table during dinner time, and as we did this, we also set up the table. The setup is very
structured, in fact, there are always two plates for each person (a smaller plate on top of a bigger one),
both fork and knife on the right hand side of the plate with the glass on the top left corner of the plate,
and in the middle of the table there are a jar of water, a wooden ... Show more content on

In Italy, the main course is usually pasta, in fact, we were eating spaghetti all arrabbiata (spaghetti
with a spicy sauce). And before eating the pasta, we passed around the cheese container. Then when
we finished eating the pasta, my father stood up once again to put the pasta in the fridge (we often do
this to leave some leftovers for the next day.) and decided it was time for the second course
(barbecued pork with a side of salad). The chat continued for a while, even after we all finished

Controlling Health Care Benefits Costs
Controlling Health Care Benefits Costs The topic that I will be discussing is Health Care Benefits
Costs. There are several different trends in the health care field that are used in business. Major issues
and obstacles are also very big regarding Health Care Benefits Costs. Controlling Health Care
Benefits Costs is a very important topic that is trending today throughout the world. Health Care
benefits costs are a systematic approach to estimating the strengths and weaknesses of alternatives that
satisfy transactions, activities or functional requirements for a business. It is a techniques that is used
to determine options that provide the best approach for the adoption and practice in terms of benefits
in labor, time and cost savings (Cost Benefit Analysis). Some companies compromise help with
medical costs. This depends on the company s policy. Either the employees can compensate a fee to
disregard the health care plan, while the company may choose to pay for the whole bulk of the best.
Also, the company may pay for everything. Employers often provide employees with sort of group
medical insurance, with the level of coverage depending on the status of the employee (Cost Benefit
Analysis). Part time employers have less of a privilege to receive benefits than full time employers.
Most companies offer managed care health coverage through HMOs and preferred provider
organizations, PPOs. HMO stands for Health Maintenance and PPO stands for Preferred Provider

African American Women During The Civil War
African American Women
In American history there have been many truly extraordinary women. These women range from all
different time periods, races and other backgrounds. Over the years women have participate or become
involved in multiple different themes including: politics, midwives or physicians, inventors, literary or
arts figures, feminists, suffrage or equal rights activist, wealthy women, academics, fighters physical
or metaphorical etc. This paper will exemplify three special women, all the while providing
background, some life achievements and details of their last years. These women are Ida Wells,
Isabella Baumfree (A.K.A Sojourner Truth) and Harriet Tubman. All African American abolitionist
who fought endlessly for the civil rights owed to them as Americans, free citizens and humans.
Ida Wells, a woman born a slave in Holly Springs, Mississippi, before the close of the Civil War on 16
July 1862. Some six months later Abraham Lincoln passed the Emancipation Proclamation freeing
slaves. Her parents, who had been slaves, were remarried again after freedom came. Her father, the
son of a pastor, had been taught the carpenter s trade, and mother was a famous cook. In 1878, at age
14 when she was visiting her grandmother in the Holly Springs suffered a yellow fever epidemic in
which both her parents and her 10 month old brother, Stanley, died of Malaria. With no one else to
support her large family, so she becomes a teacher at a schoolhouse in rural Mississippi. Ida

Blooms Taxonomy
Implementing Bloom s Taxonomy into instructional planning in lieu of high stakes standardized
testing can build students cognitive development Theory can inform and guide practice to allow
individuals to strengthen and/or reinforce certain areas of study. With the case of high stakes
standardized tests, students are being taught at lower levels of cognition, thus impacting their
cognitive development for application in furthering education and career readiness. Given that
education plays a significant role in social status and economic prosperity, school should prepare
students with skills to be able to prosper and become successful. This paper will discuss how Bloom s

Education is an essential indicator of success in the 21st century, students need to be acquiring skills
that prepare them for the demands of the real world. Despite the mandating of high stakes
standardized tests, teachers can align their goals with higher order thinking to develop students
cognition, problem solving abilities, and critical thinking initiatives. Cognitive development is a
crucial element of a student s success, which can be enhanced through metacognitive awareness.
Implementation of Bloom s taxonomy into instructional planning can guide educational practice such
that students develop a range of cognitive skills. Essentially, the main goal of education is to prepare

Kalam Cosmological Argument
Among various theories supporting the existence of God, cosmological arguments are strongest. This
concept suggests that the existence of the universe has reason (Davies 48). Cosmological arguments
consider how the universe came into existence. The kalam cosmological argument supports the theory
that the universe could not have commenced by itself (Davies 49).
Design arguments are weakest when asserting that the existence of God is attributable to
characteristics displayed by the universe. Aquinas concluded that objects without knowledge cannot
have goals unless a higher power is directing them (Davies 76). Davies uses an example of acorns
consistently growing into oak trees to support this statement (76). However, David Hume suggests that
order in the universe could easily be the result of chance (Davies 79). ... Show more content on

Design arguments are less persuasive, because the regularity we experience in the universe could be
due to chance (Davies 79).
There are some weak points in cosmological arguments, however. One major weakness is that there is
no way to prove the existence of the universe has a cause. For example, David Hume believes that if
we are capable of imagining a universe without cause, then it is possible that the universe could have
begun without reason (Davies 50). Another argument states that the universe is infinite, and if that is
the case, then every event has a predecessor. This would mean that there was no beginning of the
universe (Davies 53).
There are few strengths in design arguments with the exception of having an explanation for the
mundane occurrences of life. While I find design arguments intriguing, I cannot believe that inanimate
objects receive instruction from a godly entity. Cosmological arguments are more plausible, as it is not
difficult to accept the theory that the universe came into existence because of

The Experimenter Must Conduct Electrolysis Essay
The purpose of this experiment is to confirm Avogadro s number. To do this the experimenter must
conduct electrolysis. Electrolysis, as given to us in the experiment instructions, is where an external
power supply is used to drive an otherwise nonspontaneous reaction. A zinc strip and a copper strip
will be used as electrodes. Electrodes are devices that move electrons into or out of a solution by
conduction ( Definition ). The electrodes will be placed into a beaker of sulfuric acid. By using the
copper strip as the anode and the zinc strip as the cathode, the experimenter will make the cell
electrolytic in order to oxidize a copper electrode. The anode of a device is the terminal where current
flows in from outside and the cathode of a device is the terminal where current flows out (Denker). By
measuring the amount of copper that was deposited in the electroplating process, the experimenter will
be able to determine the average current in the reaction and determine the amount of atoms in one
mole of copper. The experimenter will then compare this number to Avogadro s number, determining
how accurate Avogadro s number is. In this experiment, the experimenter will be using a LabQuest, a
Vernier Current Probe, a 1.5 volt DC power source, 2 connecting wires with alligator clips, an ohm
resistor, a copper strip, and a zinc strip to set up the experiment. The experimenter will also need the
following: sand paper to clean a strip of copper, an analytical balance to

My Role Model In My Life
Most life changing events happen with someone whom you truly trust. It is easy to ignore people,
withdraw, and not form relationships built on love and reliance. I have truly grown closer to my role
model in my life. Matt Harp, my role model, is a man of truth, integrity, love, selflessness, and
compassion. Many different times he surprised me with how he acted, spoke and thought. I clearly
saw the Lord lead his life, and his actions revealed as much. I wanted to follow his example. He led
me through junior high, what was definitely the toughest part of my life. Looking back, I can only
imagine what would have happened in my life if I had not grown to trust this honorable man. There
are many different times where Matt taught me a life lesson, but these three are the most prominent.
He taught me how to be unique, be yourself, always be willing to share, and to never give up, even
when you are tired. As a groovy guy, my small group leader always wore what the coolest clothes. I
loved to talk to him about it. I said I love your style. Where do you buy your clothes? Many different
times, I wore similar clothes to him. I started wearing unique socks, colored jeans, and many other
things. He took more notice than I realized. One day he took me aside and said You don t have to live
exactly like someone else, you just need to be you. He insisted, saying don t just copy me because you
like the way that I dress, find your own groove. I took these small statements to heart.

Familial Connections in Invisible Man
Family. It is a very fluid yet rigid idea. It has a wealth of definitions, all of which range in degree and
magnitude, and vary from person to person; yet the concept of how a family should work and operate
is very concrete in most American minds. Family is a bond that is crafted every second of everyday
until it is powerful, and this can shape beliefs, outlooks, and confidence. A study found that children

of his culture and heritage. Bledsoe s utter disdain for his fellow black man leaves the narrator with a

as if Invisible Man treats his mentors like ever changing trends, abandoning one and immediately
latching on to another. Down on his luck the narrator easily accepts Brother Jack into his life. Brother
Jack quickly opens his arms to the narrator and gives him a house, a great salary, and he even starts to

Biography of Edgar Allan Poe Essay
Biography of Edgar Allan Poe Edgar Allan Poe was born at 33 Hollis Street, Boston, Mass., on
January 19, 1809, the son of poverty stricken actors, David, and Elizabeth (born Arnold) Poe. His

Online Cash Advance Lenders Make a Mockery of Bans by States
A recent Washingtontimes.com article explored online lending and state bans of cash advance
companies operating within their jurisdictions. The article mentioned that many of these lenders get
around bans by ignoring state caps on interest rates and other regulations. Without storefront options,
cash advance lenders can still advertise online to deliver quick cash directly to borrowers bank
accounts even these kinds of loans are banned in the state. However, Google s decision to ban payday
lending ads could affect how these companies reach customers. Google recently decided to ban loan
advertising for loans with APRs higher than 36 percent according to a report from Theguardian.com.
Despite state bans and fewer advertising opportunities to reach consumers, most people can still
search for these types of loans in browser based organic searches, and all evidence suggests that they
will continue doing so. Banned lenders simply find other ways to promote their products and market
loans directly to consumers in areas where their storefront operations are banned. Millennials
especially respond well to alternative financial services such as payday loans and pawnshop
borrowing according to research reported by Nationalpawnbrokers.org. Native American tribes often
partner with online lenders to offer loans to consumers in states where the industry is banned.

Romeo and Juliet as Christ Figures
Introduction and Modern Interpretations
Modern audiences have been reintroduced to William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet largely through
modern film reinterpretations of the play. Many of these films, most notably Baz Luhrmann s 1996
version of Romeo and Juliet and John Madden s 1998 Shakespeare in Love, have focused on the tragic
destiny of these two star crossed lovers . Seemingly, it is the destiny of Romeo and Juliet to commit
suicide because they are not allowed to love each other. It s the kind of dramatic story that makes
teenage hearts swoon: pure love, passionate love, forbidden love. And while the passionate romance of
young Capulet and young Montague is essential to the play, it is by ... Show more content on

Romeo and Juliet are tragic, but not for their ill begotten love. Rather, they are tragic for their roles as
martyrs, sacrificing themselves to make peace between their feuding families. This sacrifice motif
plays to a much more adult audience, taking these two young characters out of the sole possession of
young audiences.
Thomas Otway s Caius Marius; Love in a Time of Civil War
The sacrifice of Romeo and Juliet can be better understood by first entering through the back door.
Caius Marius, written by Thomas Otway was first performed in England in the fall of 1679 and
subsequently published a year later (Murray 49). This loosely based version of Romeo and Juliet was
the only exposure that the contemporary theatergoer would have had to the Romeo and Juliet story.
The viewer of this particular version of Romeo and Juliet recognized it through the author s own
concession, as Otway freely admits he has rifled him [Shakespeare] of half a Play (Prologue). Otway s
version is set in classical Rome, and rather than feuding families, Otway gives us two candidates for
the position of Roman Emperor. The reader is immediately exposed to political strife; there are two
factions, each led respectively by Caius Marius Sr. and Metellus. The connection to Romeo and Juliet
is clear; Caius Marius represents the Montague clan while Metellus is the Roman version of Capulet.
The obvious similarities between Caius Marius and the original

Foreshadowing
My compadres dallied to memorialize their arrival at the apex of the planet ... using up precious ticks
of the clock. None of them imagined that a horrible ordeal was drawing nigh. Nobody suspected that
by the end of that long day, every minute would matter (Krakauer 11).
With so many incompetent people on the mountain, Rob said with a frown one evening in late April, I

Jon Krakauer uses foreshadowing many times in the book, especially when closing out chapters just

Memory is fallible and malleable that can be changed and created in order to incorporate new
experience or information. This fabricated or distorted remembering of an event is called a false
memory, however, never occurred in reality. Inaccurate information and erroneously attribution of an
original source of the information causes to recollect entirely false events. The false memory can have
profound implications that people are highly self confident of their memories even though the events

A lot of the time existing memories and knowledge influence memories to make the recollection
entirely false altogether. Especially, inaccurate sources greatly influence on childhood false memory.
The memory psychologist, Elizabeth Loftus, researches about the possibility of inducing the
childhood false memory through the suggestion source. Her lost in the shopping mall study (Loftus,
1997) proves how moldable memory is when people recollect un factual information. She reveals that
suggestion source can lead people to believe that the entire events actually happen to them. Elizabeth
and her colleagues implant the childhood false memory to individuals that they had been lost in a
shopping mall. But, this memory is completely distorted to create new events that actually does not
occur. This implantation of the false memory successfully induces them to recollect the false events
and they describe their experience using more words and even add description in details. Their
memory becomes stronger and more vivid because enough time has passed that original memory has
faded. When they draw the event in their mind, the memory of real event, visiting a mall, becomes
confounded with the suggestion that you were once lost in a mall. The brain may activate images of
mall and those of being lost. The created memory can even be embellished with snippets from actual
events, such as people once seen in a mall. The grains of experienced events or imaged events are

Cultural Diversity And A Multicultural Society
The United States is a multicultural society in which health professionals handle people from various
origins. Now the question is: How nurses meet diversified needs of human lives? Each day, nurses
make optimistic changes in human lives by providing care. This holistic care includes each and every
aspect of health. This includes, but isn t limited to physical, intellectual, emotional, and significantly
cultural dimensions. In order for nurses to provide transcultural care, they need to be knowledgeable
to understand significance of cultural diversity and take measures to provide culture competent care.
Cultural diversity is a broad term that according to Lynn (2015), Culture, ethnicity, and race is an
integral component of both health and illness, (p. 74). The term culture which according to Silvestri

Examination Malpractice
CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.0 BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY
The quest for exploration into the effect of examination malpractice among the sociology student of
University of Abuja is borne out of the concern for the need for improvement/provision of enabling a
good conducive environment that is conducive for the writing of examination and to avoid
malpractice.
In any given society, there are rule guiding the behavior of individuals as well as rights which give the
people the freedom to express them. So also is an education environment, where student come to learn
both in character and in learning and where they interact with other student lectures.

They engage in all forms of examination malpractice both during examination and post examination
i.e. through the aid of the lecturers. This has been attributed to many factors among which is
inadequate exam invigilators in the hall, parental pressure for good results, societal approval of an
outstanding result that stand as a meal ticket and a means to climb the social ladder and be affiliated.
Therefore, an educational institution such as a University that does not uphold the conduct of a fair
examination of its students is only breeding an angry generation that will turn against it sooner or
later. The situation is so pathetic that it needs to be adequately addressed. It is against this background
that this study is carried out.
1.2 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
Ideally, in every human organization including a university setting there is the need for an aptitude test
to test the improvement and the acquisition on knowledge that has been acquired over the period of
learning. This is done to know the direction the education system is going, the learning and
assimilation rate of the student as well as to identify the weak ones and help improve them for a better
future. This is done through the writing of an aptitude test or examination. And there are stated guide
line guiding the conduct of all students in every university, University of Abuja included, so as to

Hospital And Ambulatory Care Case Study
Hospitals and Ambulatory Care
1) The traditional management style of hospitals have been hierarchical and internally focused. What
are the three important challenges that hospitals face to accommodate new payers and consumer
expectations?
These hospitals are using the manual approach of relating with consumers as will as payers.
Remittance to providers and disburse paper checks is prone to errors, costly and time consuming. It is
required of payers to adopt the standardized electronic healthcare transactions according to the
regulatory mandates. Electronic funds transfer (RFT) and Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) are the
recommended digital healthcare transactions that would reconcile the crisis at hand and reduce the
administrative costs.
While the digital migration is implemented in the healthcare system, payers, health providers and
consumers are faced with the challenge of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What were some problems with the peer review process in judging the quality of hospital medical
care?
Conflict of interests is a common problem associated with peer review process, which is contributed
to by the internal politics. Economic competition and partner relationships also contribute to conflicts
of interests because of the big focus on facts while ignoring the personal feelings and biases.
Criticizing colleagues and eventually censuring the friends is a big challenge among doctors. This is
because the process involves a lot of work which goes uncompensated. In addition, the process
consumes time meant for attending to patients, leading to worse and substandard care. 3) Almost two
thirds of all surgical procedures are now performed in ambulatory surgery facilities. Discuss the
reasons for this shift of surgery from the inpatient setting and its effect on hospitals and

A Study Of Provincial Life By George Eliot
Introduction
Middlemarch, A Study of Provincial Life is a novel by English author George Eliot, first published in
eight installments during 1871. The novel is set in the fictitious Midlands town of Middlemarch
during 1829 32, and it comprises several distinct stories and a large cast of characters. Significant
themes include the status of women, the nature of marriage, idealism, self interest, religion, hypocrisy,
political reform, and education
Middlemarch was written in the years leading up to 1832, during the Reform act, this act was for the
benefit of middle class people. Male defense of narrowing of options was the female brain was not
equal to the demands of commerce or the professions, and women, simply by virtue of their sex, had
no business mingling with men in a man s world (Altick 54). Contrast with men without the added
profit of a formal education put conditions in front of many Victorian women to find the only
possibility available, marriage as a main occupation. Marriage is one of the important themes in
Middlemarch as most of the characters marry for love and yet marriage still appears unpleasant and
unromantic. Unlike other novels of that time, marriage is not considered the fundamental source of
happiness. An ill advised or not wise marriage between two people who are inherently compatible
never becomes completely tuneful.

The Pros And Cons Of The Nineteenth Amendment
Not everyone in the United States agreed with the Nineteenth Amendment being passed. Two months
after the Federal Government declared that the Amendment had been incorporated to the Constitution
in August of 1920, Oscar Lesser sued to stop two women [Cecilia Street Waters and Mary D.
Randolph] to vote in Baltimore, Maryland. Lesser believed the Maryland Constitution limited the
suffrage to men . He said that Maryland had refused to vote regarding the ratification of the
Nineteenth Amendment, and should not be subject to its application.. In 1922, Leser v. Garnett, was
argued before the United States Supreme Court. The plaintiffs of the case argued that the Nineteenth
Amendment was not passed constitutionally. They claimed there were three principal grounds to their
argument, which were: that the power to amend the Constitution did not cover this amendment
because of its character ; that several states that had ratified the amendment despite the fact that their
state constitutions prohibited women from voting; and that, in particular, the ratifications of the states
of Tennessee and West Virginia were were invalid because they were adopted without following the
rules of legislative procedure in place in those states . In a unanimous decision, the court ruled that the
amendment was passed constitutionally. In their decision, the court responded to each of the three
arguments. Lesser s first argument claimed that if Amendment s are added without the State s consent,

Our company has had to operate informally because we had to act together to get the project done as a

informal communication our company needs to watch out for is the grapevine. The grapevine is the

The Resurrection Of Jesus A Historical Event
Just how vital is the resurrection to Christianity Well in a quote taken from Man Alive; by Michal
green he state, Christianity does not hold the resurrection to be one among many tenet of belief.
Without the faith in the resurrection there would be no Christianity at all. The Christian church would
never have begun; the Jews movement would have fizzled out like a damp squib with his exaction.
When Jesus rose from the grave, the impact was felt immediately and has continued to reverberate
throughout the world. This is certainly why many people have attacked the resurrection and set out to
disprove it and as Christians it is our job to defend this important part of history that determines the
future of so many people. So in order to defend the greatest day in history one has to ask; is the
resurrection of Jesus a historical event? Everyone agrees that Jesus Christ was a moral man who lived
on earth. Some state the resurrection of Jesus is a historical event, while others say the resurrection of
Jesus is not a historical event. Jesus death on the cross is seen as a barbarous event, but to others, Jesus
death on the unlocked the crippling chains of humanity. The resurrection of Jesus is proven to be a
historical event for these three reasons; the vacant tomb, credible witnesses, and impactful culture.
The first reason the resurrection of Jesus is proven to be historical event is the symbol of the empty
tomb. A quote by Anthony Flew, a devout atheist states, The

Is Beowulf The Ideal Hero Essay
Beowulf is an Old English poem in which a hero gains fame and riches through defeating
monsters.Beowulf the hero, is form a clan known as the geats. In the poem he is said to be one of the
bravest and strongest men on earth. Beowulf begins his journey by slaying a monster known as
Grendel, that has been terrorizing the Danes. Once Grendel is killed he boasts about his brute strength
and earns kinship from King Hrothgar. Beowulf then proceeded to fight in two more battles with the
third one ending in a deadly defeat for Beowulf. So why is Beowulf considered the perfect hero by his
society?
Part of it had to do with the fact that in Beowulf s time period and society, they had certain
actions, traits, and values that Anglo Saxons deemed heroic. There are a couple distinct traits that make
up the Anglo Saxon hero. The first one is Loyalty. Anglo Saxons were immensely loyal. In the poem
the author writes, Beowulf arose, with his men around him, ordering a few to remain with their
weapons (47 ). This quote signifies that Beowulf had men that were loyal to him. They considered
Beowulf worthy enough to follow his orders. The next trait would be strength. A hero is always related
to strength whether it be mental or physical. In this case Beowulf had tremendous physical strength.
The poem shows Beowulf s brute strength in a quote that states, Grasped at a strong hearted wakeful
sleeper and was instantly seized himself, claws Bent back as Beowulf leaned up on one arm. That

The Political Economy Of Communication
The political economy of communication is using political economy approach to analyse the media
and communication. Therefore, before discuss the political economy of communication we need to
figure out what is political economy and what is communication. The definition of political economy
is not simple. This essay uses the definitions given by Vincent Mosco and explores its origin in Greek
and inspiration from the Classical Political Economy. Apart from the Classical Political Economy, this
essay also describes other forms of this approach, such as Critical Political Economy and Neoclassical
Political Economy. Latter the characteristics of political economy study are also discussed based on
Vincent Mosco s work in the 1990s.
The part of communication starts by defining the concept of communication in a political economic
way. To understand deeply the political economy of communication, it is necessary compare it with
culture studies, so this part also explains the similarities and differences between this two studies.
Finally the public television is used as an example to describe the peculiarities of the media and the
political economy of the media.
What is political economy?
At the beginning, the political economy has is origin in Greek. The word economics is composed of
oikos and noms which mean house and law (Mosco, 2009). Therefore, economics is the management
of the household (Mosco, 2009). Political has its origin of polos which means city state

The Scarlett Letter, And The Crucible
1. Identify (and define) the genre of this novel.
It is leaning more on historical fiction. In historical fiction, writers will incorporate past events or
people into their fictitious stories. Though the characters and the story are fiction, this lifestyle and
rule was far from fiction. It is even believed that even though Hester Prynne was fictitious there was a
similar scandal that Hawthorne was referring to. The life of the Puritans has been a subject of interest
for years, with works of literature such as The Scarlett Letter, and the Crucible that depict this time
period of extreme conservatism and harsh punishment. After further analysis and research it has come
to my attention that the Scarlett Letter is actually categorized as a Gothic Romance novel. It shouldn t
be that difficult to believe since Pearl was the result of passionate love affair. I think what sets it apart
from other romance novel is it isn t like other novels.
2. Provide an author biography (as it pertains to the novel).
Nathaniel Hawthorne was born on July 4, 1804 in Salem, Massachusetts
John Hathorne, was one of the judges who oversaw the Salem witch trials. Having learned about this,
the author probably added the W to his surname in his early twenties in an effort to dissociate himself

Polygyny And Polygamy
Marriage; what is the first thing that comes to mind? For many its monogamy, but what is monogamy?
Monogamy means that an individual has one spouse at a time (Lancy, 2015) however; in many
cultures monogamy is not the first thing that comes to mind. There are different types of marriage in
fact there are 2 types monogamy as stated earlier and Polygamy. Polygamy has two subsections within
it which are polyandry defined as one wife with two or more husbands or polygyny defined as one
husband with two or more wives (Lancy, 2015). Within this paper there are three groups being
compared and contrasted who all part take in polygynous marriages. The three groups are the Bedouin
Arab men, the Cree and Saulteaux bands, and the Shirazi from the Comoro Islands. Polygyny is quite
complex, it is different for every group and there are factors that must be considered to each group
before going along with a polygynous marriage.
The first study that will be discussed is the Bedouin Arabs; an Interview with 100 Bedouin Arab
husbands, wives, children, and extended family members of polygynous families in the Negev of
Israel (Slonim Nevo, Al Krenawi and Yuval Shani, 2008) was conducted. For this study they were all

In this experiment it was found that the higher the salt concentration in a solution, the lower the mass
of the Beetroot. As water travels out of the extracellular environment by Osmosis, the Cell began to
dehydrate and signs of cell Lysis occurred. Though Colorimeter reading results were recorded, they
did not align with the mass of the Beetroot data and were classified inaccurate. Reviewing the results
there was no consistent trend in the data (eg. as the salt content increased by 1% the mass loss
decreased by 0.5g). It could only be stated that as the salt concentration was increased the mass of the
Beetroot decreased. This experiment is related to the Salinity issues currently occurring in Australia. It
has been established that the rising levels of salt in soil affects a number of things like; Agricultural
production, Water quality, Ecological health of streams, Terrestrial biodiversity, Soil erosion, Flood
risk, Infrastructure and fixtures, irrigation.

Disadvantages Of Crude Oil
1. Introduction: Crude oil Crude oil is a mixture of molecules bonded together in chains called
hydrocarbons, hydrogen and carbons, and mostly consists of a family of hydrocarbons called alkanes
(CnH2n+2). Figure 1 1 displays a type of hydrocarbon. As a leading product on the global market we
think of crude oil as a valuable substance, but are there more efficient materials, less pollutant
substances and more reliable constituents that can support our future? Crude oil is formed from the
remains of deceased fauna and flora which were compressed under large segments at excessive
pressures and temperatures. Crude oil is known as a non renewable or finite resource and will
eventually deplete making it a limited resource that takes hundreds of years to develop, so finding a
replacement to help transition the reliance on crude oil is crucial. Crude oil is used in a range of
everyday items such as plastics, fuel, heating oil and other important products. If the price of crude oil
rises the prices of fuel, food, clothing, everything rises with it. This could result in a major global
crises but using alternatives would ease or even erase this problem. [1] 2. Industry and producer

Lao Tzu Oligarchies
Throughout the time of recorded history, humans have had the natural desire for protection and order.
That desire is where government comes in. There have been many forms of government throughout
history, according to Aristotle, there have only been two types, oligarchies and democracies. Aristotle
goes on to say that there are variations of these governments; for example, an aristocracy is considered
to be an oligarchy where the wealthy land owners make the decisions in government. Later in that
same paragraph, he states that a republic is a form of democracy; these are not the only variations of
democracies and oligarchies as there are many variations of these two types of government along the
spectrum (Aristotle 3). Societies all through history have one thing in common, they all had some
form of government; This raises the question though, what is the difference between a good and bad
government? Lao Tzu has an insight on the differences between a good and bad government in his
philosophical writing, Thoughts from the Tao te Ching, where he states that a good government shall
not make their people want, they should provide everything that their people need. He also states that
wars cause chaos and a good leader would not wage war and sacrifice his or her people and be moral
in their decisions (Tzu 19). In the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson lists his grievances
against King George III. The first of these grievances is that King George refused to

I. Introduction
This qualitative research will investigate how addiction effects the psychological and physical
functioning of daily life. Psychological functioning is the cognitive and behavioral characteristics of
an individual and how they work.
This research relates to counseling. The field of counseling looks at methods that will engage an
individual with personal issues and how they cope on daily basis. I have several reasons why this topic
is of interest to me. I am a Certified Alcohol/Drug Counselor, currently employed as a supervisor at a

This lack of control is the result of alcohol or drug induced changes in the brain. Those changes, in
turn, cause behavior changes.
The brains of addicted people have been modified by the drug in such a way that absence of the drug
makes a signal to their brain that is equivalent to the signal of when you are starving , says National
Institute of Drug Abuse Director Dr. Nora Volkow. It is as if the individual was in a state of
deprivation, where taking the drug is indispensable for survival. It s as powerful as that.
Addiction grows more serious over time. Substance use disorders travel along a continuum. This
progression can be measured by the amount, frequency, and context of a person s substance use. As
their illness deepens, addicted people need more alcohol or other drugs; they may use more often, and
use in situations they never imagined when they first began to drink or take drugs. The illness
becomes harder to treat and the related health problems, such as organ disease, become worse.
This is not something that develops overnight for any individual, says addiction expert Dr. Kathleen
Brady. Generally there s a series of steps that individuals go through from experimentation and
occasional use [to] the actual loss of control of use. And it really is that process that defines addiction.

  • 2. Analysis Of Donatello s Equestrian Monument Of Erasmo Da... It is intriguing to notice throughout art history the relationship between the artist and the patron. Many famous and outstanding works of art only exist because of the wealthy patron behind the work. From early renaissance sculpture to baroque style painting, patrons become increasingly interested in commissioning art as a way of exhibiting their great power and influence whilst maintaining an image of poise and regality. Donatello s Equestrian Monument of Erasmo da Narni, (Gattamelata), (1443 1453) is a bronze sculpture made to commemorate the military accomplishments during Gattamelata s lifetime. Although the sculpture was constructed after his death, Donatello represents the general as youthful and stern. Anthony van Dyck s painting, Charles I at the Hunt, 1635, conveys a similar interest in focusing on all the positive aspects of the patron, King Charles the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The horse and Erasmo both are rendered with precision, flow, and with an accurate anatomical representation. Detail is apparent in the muscular bodies which keeps a natural connection between the horse and his rider. Although the subject rises above us, his disposition stays true to life. Donatello chose to show a youthful Erasmo in his prime and hardened from battle. This further establishes himself as a confident leader. He holds a baton diagonally in his right hand giving the statue forward momentum. He presses onward even in death. The bronze statute sits on a plain marble base that is arranged upon a limestone pedestal which includes the relief sculpture of the angels and battle armour. The entire work is approximately 3.71 meters high (Stokstad, 631) with the base and statue in a slightly deteriorated condition in present day. Donatello achieved his intense facial features by using the lost wax method. By having individual emotions for each figure, it builds upon the overall impressive feel to the whole ... The first paragraph will illustrate the social hierarchy of the family when setting up the table. The following parts of the essay will describe the processes that occur when starting the meal, and then the different rules and habits when eating. In this family, dinner does start a specific time every day, rather, it starts when my father is finish cooking. On this occasion, he started cooking at eight p.m., and it usually takes him between 45 minutes and an hour to finish. While he was cooking, all the other members of the family (me, my sister, my mother and my grandmother), were all outside the kitchen, busy with our own activities. We all reunited around the table only, when father called us when he was almost finish preparing the food. At this moment, the rest of the family cleared off the table from all the objects that do not belong to the table during dinner time, and as we did this, we also set up the table. The setup is very structured, in fact, there are always two plates for each person (a smaller plate on top of a bigger one), both fork and knife on the right hand side of the plate with the glass on the top left corner of the plate, and in the middle of the table there are a jar of water, a wooden ... And before eating the pasta, we passed around the cheese container. Then when we finished eating the pasta, my father stood up once again to put the pasta in the fridge (we often do this to leave some leftovers for the next day.) and decided it was time for the second course (barbecued pork with a side of salad). • 7. Kalam Cosmological Argument Among various theories supporting the existence of God, cosmological arguments are strongest. This concept suggests that the existence of the universe has reason (Davies 48). Cosmological arguments consider how the universe came into existence. The kalam cosmological argument supports the theory that the universe could not have commenced by itself (Davies 49). Design arguments are weakest when asserting that the existence of God is attributable to characteristics displayed by the universe. Aquinas concluded that objects without knowledge cannot have goals unless a higher power is directing them (Davies 76). Davies uses an example of acorns consistently growing into oak trees to support this statement (76). However, David Hume suggests that order in the universe could easily be the result of chance (Davies 79). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Design arguments are less persuasive, because the regularity we experience in the universe could be due to chance (Davies 79). There are some weak points in cosmological arguments, however. One major weakness is that there is no way to prove the existence of the universe has a cause. For example, David Hume believes that if we are capable of imagining a universe without cause, then it is possible that the universe could have begun without reason (Davies 50). Another argument states that the universe is infinite, and if that is the case, then every event has a predecessor. This would mean that there was no beginning of the universe (Davies 53). • 9. The Experimenter Must Conduct Electrolysis Essay The purpose of this experiment is to confirm Avogadro s number. To do this the experimenter must conduct electrolysis. Electrolysis, as given to us in the experiment instructions, is where an external power supply is used to drive an otherwise nonspontaneous reaction. A zinc strip and a copper strip will be used as electrodes. Electrodes are devices that move electrons into or out of a solution by conduction ( Definition ). The electrodes will be placed into a beaker of sulfuric acid. By using the copper strip as the anode and the zinc strip as the cathode, the experimenter will make the cell electrolytic in order to oxidize a copper electrode. The anode of a device is the terminal where current flows in from outside and the cathode of a device is the terminal where current flows out (Denker). By measuring the amount of copper that was deposited in the electroplating process, the experimenter will be able to determine the average current in the reaction and determine the amount of atoms in one mole of copper. The experimenter will then compare this number to Avogadro s number, determining how accurate Avogadro s number is. In this experiment, the experimenter will be using a LabQuest, a Vernier Current Probe, a 1.5 volt DC power source, 2 connecting wires with alligator clips, an ohm resistor, a copper strip, and a zinc strip to set up the experiment. The experimenter will also need the following: sand paper to clean a strip of copper, an analytical balance to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have truly grown closer to my role model in my life. Matt Harp, my role model, is a man of truth, integrity, love, selflessness, and compassion. Many different times he surprised me with how he acted, spoke and thought. I clearly saw the Lord lead his life, and his actions revealed as much. I wanted to follow his example. Romeo and Juliet are tragic, but not for their ill begotten love. Rather, they are tragic for their roles as martyrs, sacrificing themselves to make peace between their feuding families. This sacrifice motif plays to a much more adult audience, taking these two young characters out of the sole possession of young audiences. Thomas Otway s Caius Marius; Love in a Time of Civil War The sacrifice of Romeo and Juliet can be better understood by first entering through the back door. Caius Marius, written by Thomas Otway was first performed in England in the fall of 1679 and subsequently published a year later (Murray 49). This loosely based version of Romeo and Juliet was the only exposure that the contemporary theatergoer would have had to the Romeo and Juliet story. The viewer of this particular version of Romeo and Juliet recognized it through the author s own concession, as Otway freely admits he has rifled him [Shakespeare] of half a Play (Prologue). Otway s version is set in classical Rome, and rather than feuding families, Otway gives us two candidates for the position of Roman Emperor. The reader is immediately exposed to political strife; there are two factions, each led respectively by Caius Marius Sr. and Metellus. The connection to Romeo and Juliet is clear; Caius Marius represents the Montague clan while Metellus is the Roman version of Capulet. Our company has had to operate informally because we had to act together to get the project done as a common interest. Informal communication channels are ones that develop outside the formal structure and do not follow the chain of command. They skip management levels and cut across lines of authority. In our case, there was no authority, so we naturally cut across those lines. One type of informal communication our company needs to watch out for is the grapevine. The grapevine is the unofficial communication system of the informal organization. The is a network of gossip and rumors that are called employee language. Our company shouldn t have any issues with the grapevine. Another is management by wandering around. This is the term used to describe someone within the company literally walking around and talking with people across all line of authority. This helps to reduce the problems of distortion and inevitably occur with formal communication. In this sense, our company does utilize management by walking around in a figurative ... • 31. The Resurrection Of Jesus A Historical Event Just how vital is the resurrection to Christianity Well in a quote taken from Man Alive; by Michal green he state, Christianity does not hold the resurrection to be one among many tenet of belief. Without the faith in the resurrection there would be no Christianity at all. The Christian church would never have begun; the Jews movement would have fizzled out like a damp squib with his exaction. When Jesus rose from the grave, the impact was felt immediately and has continued to reverberate throughout the world. This is certainly why many people have attacked the resurrection and set out to disprove it and as Christians it is our job to defend this important part of history that determines the future of so many people. So in order to defend the greatest day in history one has to ask; is the resurrection of Jesus a historical event? Everyone agrees that Jesus Christ was a moral man who lived on earth. Some state the resurrection of Jesus is a historical event, while others say the resurrection of Jesus is not a historical event. Jesus death on the cross is seen as a barbarous event, but to others, Jesus death on the unlocked the crippling chains of humanity. The resurrection of Jesus is proven to be a historical event for these three reasons; the vacant tomb, credible witnesses, and impactful culture. The first reason the resurrection of Jesus is proven to be historical event is the symbol of the empty tomb. A quote by Anthony Flew, a devout atheist states, The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Is Beowulf The Ideal Hero Essay Beowulf is an Old English poem in which a hero gains fame and riches through defeating monsters.Beowulf the hero, is form a clan known as the geats. In the poem he is said to be one of the bravest and strongest men on earth. Beowulf begins his journey by slaying a monster known as Grendel, that has been terrorizing the Danes. Once Grendel is killed he boasts about his brute strength and earns kinship from King Hrothgar. Beowulf then proceeded to fight in two more battles with the third one ending in a deadly defeat for Beowulf. So why is Beowulf considered the perfect hero by his society? Part of it had to do with the fact that in Beowulf s time period and society, they had certain actions, traits, and values that Anglo Saxons deemed heroic. There are a couple distinct traits that make up the Anglo Saxon hero. The first one is Loyalty. Anglo Saxons were immensely loyal. In the poem the author writes, Beowulf arose, with his men around him, ordering a few to remain with their weapons (47 ). This quote signifies that Beowulf had men that were loyal to him. They considered Beowulf worthy enough to follow his orders. The next trait would be strength. A hero is always related to strength whether it be mental or physical. In this case Beowulf had tremendous physical strength. The poem shows Beowulf s brute strength in a quote that states, Grasped at a strong hearted wakeful sleeper and was instantly seized himself, claws Bent back as Beowulf leaned up on one arm. That shepherd ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. The Scarlett Letter, And The Crucible 1. Identify (and define) the genre of this novel. It is leaning more on historical fiction. In historical fiction, writers will incorporate past events or people into their fictitious stories. Though the characters and the story are fiction, this lifestyle and rule was far from fiction. It is even believed that even though Hester Prynne was fictitious there was a similar scandal that Hawthorne was referring to. The life of the Puritans has been a subject of interest for years, with works of literature such as The Scarlett Letter, and the Crucible that depict this time period of extreme conservatism and harsh punishment. After further analysis and research it has come to my attention that the Scarlett Letter is actually categorized as a Gothic Romance novel. It shouldn t be that difficult to believe since Pearl was the result of passionate love affair. I think what sets it apart from other romance novel is it isn t like other novels. 2. Provide an author biography (as it pertains to the novel). Nathaniel Hawthorne was born on July 4, 1804 in Salem, Massachusetts John Hathorne, was one of the judges who oversaw the Salem witch trials. Having learned about this, the author probably added the W to his surname in his early twenties in an effort to dissociate himself from his notorious forebears Hawthorne began The Scarlet Letter in September, 1849, and finished it, amazingly, in February, 1850. • 35. Polygyny And Polygamy Marriage; what is the first thing that comes to mind? For many its monogamy, but what is monogamy? Monogamy means that an individual has one spouse at a time (Lancy, 2015) however; in many cultures monogamy is not the first thing that comes to mind. There are different types of marriage in fact there are 2 types monogamy as stated earlier and Polygamy. Polygamy has two subsections within it which are polyandry defined as one wife with two or more husbands or polygyny defined as one husband with two or more wives (Lancy, 2015). Within this paper there are three groups being compared and contrasted who all part take in polygynous marriages. The three groups are the Bedouin Arab men, the Cree and Saulteaux bands, and the Shirazi from the Comoro Islands. Polygyny is quite complex, it is different for every group and there are factors that must be considered to each group before going along with a polygynous marriage. The first study that will be discussed is the Bedouin Arabs; an Interview with 100 Bedouin Arab husbands, wives, children, and extended family members of polygynous families in the Negev of Israel (Slonim Nevo, Al Krenawi and Yuval Shani, 2008) was conducted. • 36. The Effects Of Salinity On Crops By Denielle Walters The Effects of Salinity in Crops By Denielle Walters Team Members; Iona Millen, Jade McMillan, Kiara Stone Teacher Mrs Dean Contents: Abstract: In this experiment it was found that the higher the salt concentration in a solution, the lower the mass of the Beetroot. As water travels out of the extracellular environment by Osmosis, the Cell began to dehydrate and signs of cell Lysis occurred. Though Colorimeter reading results were recorded, they did not align with the mass of the Beetroot data and were classified inaccurate. Reviewing the results there was no consistent trend in the data (eg. as the salt content increased by 1% the mass loss decreased by 0.5g). It could only be stated that as the salt concentration was increased the mass of the Beetroot decreased. This experiment is related to the Salinity issues currently occurring in Australia. It has been established that the rising levels of salt in soil affects a number of things like; Agricultural production, Water quality, Ecological health of streams, Terrestrial biodiversity, Soil erosion, Flood risk, Infrastructure and fixtures, irrigation. https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/land/soil/salinity/impacts/ If the effects of salinity continue, crops would not be able to grow therefore farmers would not be making an income and the fresh healthy Fruits and Vegetables that are displayed in supermarkets would be practically non existent and the salt could potentially move into fresh water meaning the fresh water ... • 37. Disadvantages Of Crude Oil 1. Introduction: Crude oil Crude oil is a mixture of molecules bonded together in chains called hydrocarbons, hydrogen and carbons, and mostly consists of a family of hydrocarbons called alkanes (CnH2n+2). Figure 1 1 displays a type of hydrocarbon. As a leading product on the global market we think of crude oil as a valuable substance, but are there more efficient materials, less pollutant substances and more reliable constituents that can support our future? Crude oil is formed from the remains of deceased fauna and flora which were compressed under large segments at excessive pressures and temperatures. Crude oil is known as a non renewable or finite resource and will eventually deplete making it a limited resource that takes hundreds of years to develop, so finding a replacement to help transition the reliance on crude oil is crucial. Crude oil is used in a range of everyday items such as plastics, fuel, heating oil and other important products. If the price of crude oil rises the prices of fuel, food, clothing, everything rises with it. This could result in a major global crises but using alternatives would ease or even erase this problem. • 38. Lao Tzu Oligarchies Throughout the time of recorded history, humans have had the natural desire for protection and order. That desire is where government comes in. There have been many forms of government throughout history, according to Aristotle, there have only been two types, oligarchies and democracies. Aristotle goes on to say that there are variations of these governments; for example, an aristocracy is considered to be an oligarchy where the wealthy land owners make the decisions in government. Later in that same paragraph, he states that a republic is a form of democracy; these are not the only variations of democracies and oligarchies as there are many variations of these two types of government along the spectrum (Aristotle 3). Societies all through history have one thing in common, they all had some form of government; This raises the question though, what is the difference between a good and bad government? Lao Tzu has an insight on the differences between a good and bad government in his philosophical writing, Thoughts from the Tao te Ching, where he states that a good government shall not make their people want, they should provide everything that their people need. He also states that wars cause chaos and a good leader would not wage war and sacrifice his or her people and be moral in their decisions (Tzu 19). Introduction This qualitative research will investigate how addiction effects the psychological and physical functioning of daily life. The field of counseling looks at methods that will engage an individual with personal issues and how they cope on daily basis. I have several reasons why this topic is of interest to me. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This lack of control is the result of alcohol or drug induced changes in the brain. Those changes, in turn, cause behavior changes. The brains of addicted people have been modified by the drug in such a way that absence of the drug makes a signal to their brain that is equivalent to the signal of when you are starving , says National Institute of Drug Abuse Director Dr. Nora Volkow. It is as if the individual was in a state of deprivation, where taking the drug is indispensable for survival. It s as powerful as that. Addiction grows more serious over time. Substance use disorders travel along a continuum. This progression can be measured by the amount, frequency, and context of a person s substance use. As their illness deepens, addicted people need more alcohol or other drugs; they may use more often, and use in situations they never imagined when they first began to drink or take drugs. The illness becomes harder to treat and the related health problems, such as organ disease, become worse. This is not something that develops overnight for any individual, says addiction expert Dr. Kathleen Brady. Generally there s a series of steps that individuals go through from experimentation and occasional use [to] the actual loss of control of use. And it really is that process that defines addiction.
