Heart Of Darkness Human Nature
I had no difficulty in finding the Company s offices. It was the biggest thing in the town, and
everybody I met was full of it.... (1.22). The novella, Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, is an
extrospective look at man and his actions. Throughout the novella, human nature is discussed at great
length as many unique individuals, show varying traits and desires, strive to accomplish great (or not
so great) tasks. From imperialists, marauders, steam boat captains, or tribesman everyone succumbs to
the same basic human emotions. The men and women in heart of Darkness portray the true nature of
mankind.
One of the earliest ideas of human nature presented is the striving for power or control. As Marlow s
early life is discussed, the first examples ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is reassured that the enemies are there. When Marlowe arrives at the camp, he makes note of the
disturbing abuse of the slaves stating I could see every rib, the joints of their limbs were like knots in a
rope; each had an iron collar around his neck... (ch1/pg53). The numerous, well armed, Europeans
used their power to enslave the local populace to further their own gains. When Marlowe s ship came
under fire from natives, the mere sound of the foghorn drove them away in fear. They truly had lost
power over their situation. Some even joined Europeans like Kurtz. Human nature makes us strive
towards the strong and abandon the weak. Those Natives who raided other natives villages sought
power and security in a time of uncertainty. To truly signify power, Joseph Conrad used a symbol. In
Heart of Darkness, Ivory is equivalent to power. Although it could easily be substituted to represent
any number of things; money, strength, or stature. In Heart of Darkness, ivory is the major commodity
and export of Africa. So, the imperialists want it. The main inspiration for Kurtz raids and killings
(Besides being insane) is obtaining ivory. He is said to have more ivory than anyone else in Africa and

Stereotypes Of Rap Music
The course topics this session were all very interesting. The one that seemed to resonate with me the
most was the section about Rap Music. The way that the material was presented and how Rap Music
as a whole was dissected was really intriguing. One point that really stuck with me was the Our Buddy
discussion. It really opened my eyes to how the rap/hip hop industry markets the music to us. This
paper will show that the stereotype of Our Buddy in rap music is very real and how the material has
turned from an art form into and marketing ploy. I intend to support my argument with examples and
analysis by explaining how the stereotype can become accepted as a social norm. Music is not just
music, or just a source of entertainment; rather ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The violence described by rap lyrics is the exception, and not the rule when it comes to the real life
urban neighborhoods that rap songs often depict. This is further evidence that Our Buddy is a
stereotype in rap lyrics. This stereotype, that violent rap lyrics promote, can influence some people,
white and black alike, to accept violence and to behave in a violent manner. Still, some will argue that
people will not allow the violent stereotypes in rap lyrics to influence them and that they know the
difference between fantasy and reality. I think that rap fans find great pleasure in believing the
authenticity of their favorite rapper which adds on to the issue at

A similar study taken in 2010 by Harvard Business School surveyed 136 countries. They came to the
conclusion that ones who are altruistic, and giving to one s less fortunate in this case people who are
donating financially to charity financially were much happier than others
A child called it provides a heart wrenching story of the firsthand experiences Dave Pelzer faced with
his childhood abuse. Pelzer writes an autobiography of a young boy who is beaten, starved, and
tortured by his mother for years. Despite his terrible upbringing from childhood up to adolescence, he
manages to turn his life around. Dave uses his hope, a positive attitude, and determination to survive

Code Of Ethics And The Laws Of The Accounting Profession...
Critically reflect on the arguments as to why a code of ethics is essential to support the regulation of
the accounting profession in New Zealand.
Introduction
Code of Ethics display the ideal qualities that one should follow and demonstrate, in the accounting
profession. It lays down the expected standards, and are based on personal characteristics and
behavior. According to New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants Act 1996 the five
fundamental principles in the Code of Ethics are integrity, objectivity, professional competence and
due care, confidentiality and professional behavior (NZICA, 2013). These five principles aim at
guiding an accountant in a moralistic way. Although it highlights the general expectations of an
accountant, it is designed to benefit the wider accounting network. The Code of Ethics can also be
thought of as a perfect role model, which accountants use to compare themselves against. The Code of
Ethics is vital to the accounting profession because it helps keep a controlled, safe and positive
working environment.
Discussion
Integrity is one of the fundamental principle, which is responsible for securing and maintaining
confidence among the public, and also internally through professionalism. In the Code of Ethics,
integrity is defined to be, the key to building a network of good trust, and also personal characteristics
that distances one from taking advantage personally (Velayutham,2003).Generally we can assume that
integrity is directly

Medical Professionals Should Always Value A Patient s...
Medical professionals should always value a patient s ethical right to privacy and confidentiality.
Under the HIPPA law, there are still concerns with the protection of patient privacy; therefore,
healthcare professionals must confront the growing technological environment and find ways to
increase access security, as well as discipline employees that violate a patient s privacy. Electronic
health records can be beneficial to providers from a cost and efficiency standpoint, but are patients
really better off with a paperless system?5
Privacy relates to people; confidentiality relates to data. A patient has a right to privacy and
confidentiality concerning their mental and physical medical records. The term privacy has been
defined as an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Healthcare providers are able to communicate easier via electronic medical records and under the
HIPPA law it is illegal to release patient information to other non healthcare professional parties.
HIPPA states, covered entities are required to protect the confidentiality or integrity of medical
information stored in electric records.5
Confidentiality extends past privacy and protects identifiable data. So, what is considered confidential
patient information? Confidential patient information consists of Protected Health Information (PHI).
The PHI contains the patient s demographic information, social security number, diagnoses codes,
medical record number, name of doctors, conversations between healthcare providers, billing
information, images of the patient, and medications. Confidential information is seen electronically in
a patient s medical record everyday and sometimes employees forget how important it is to keep a
patient s information confidential. Mental and physical conditions, treatment plans and daily notes are
documented in electronic medical records.
The healthcare industry benefits from Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Electronic software is used
to store and transfer patient health records. The advances in technology allow healthcare professionals
to access and share patient medical history. Such a system may decrease health care costs, increase the
quality of patient care, facilitate better departmental communication, create less paper confusion,

Harmful Effects Of Recycling In Landfills
Recycling programs are in place all around the world yet most trash still ends up in a landfill. When
something is being decomposed, it s being broken down slowly. When something is being
decomposed by living bacteria or other living organisms then it is biodegradable. As an effect of this,
eventually, the materials will be fully broken down. In landfills, most materials start to decompose
(North and Halden 2013). Materials such as extruded polystyrene foam, plastic, and paper that are in
landfills can cause pollution. Pollution is the act of introducing something that will bring harmful
effects. Biodegradation helps to reduce the amount of trash in landfills so that landfills do not become
full of capacity.
About 30% of landfill space is filled with extruded polystyrene foam products alone (Little 2017).
Landfills are quickly being filled and very soon there will not be enough space in the world to place
trash. extruded polystyrene foam is a material that decomposes over a long period. Inside extruded
polystyrene foam is a chemical called Styrene which leaches into substances leading to water
pollution when it precipitates and the runoff goes into nearby bodies of water (Little 2017). When
something leaches it is being percolated into another liquid or substance.
34 million tons of plastic were produced in 2008 in the United States alone and 86% ended up in
landfills (North and Halden 2013). That s a lot of plastic that ended up in landfills. Over the years the

Miss Havisham Quotes
Pip experiences mental violence when he meets Estella and Miss Havisham for the first time. They
were both very mean to him. Miss Havisham was mean to him (and other men), because her heart was
broken once. Her fiancé left her on her wedding day, and she was so heartbroken that she was
determined to never move beyond that. Her broken heart made her grow cruel , and bend on revenge
on all men. Her revenge came in the form of her adoptive daughter Estella. She trained Estella to be a
heartbreaker, so that she could get satisfaction from that. This can be noted in one of the first scenes of
the book, when Miss Havisham talks to Estella. With this boy! Why, he is a common labouring boy! I

showed me what I once felt myself, I did not know what I had done. What have I done! What have I
done! (Great expectations,1992 ,p.338)When Pip left, he got a feeling that something was wrong, so
he went back to check on Miss Havisham. She was on fire when he entered the room, shrieking in
panic and in pain. Pip helped her stamp out the fire, and let her go when the surgeon arrived. Miss

Outsourcing Service From A Supplier
Outsourcing is simply obtaining a product or a service from a supplier. Outsourcing services can
supplement an existing internal source, replace an existing internal source, or consist of a new product
or service a company has never provided before.
In the past, it was commonplace for companies to try to do it all. Manufacturing companies would
design, engineer, and build the end product while providing Information Technology support...
regardless of the complexity of the end product and its components. As time went on, it became
obvious that a company cannot do it all. It became more and more routine for organizations to
outsource complex portions of their work.
Smaller companies found it useful to outsource their payroll processing. This soon grew into the
recognition that if it is better to outsource payroll, why not consider outsourcing the entire HR
function? Industries began to grow to support vertical business services such as HR and accounting.
The companies that are chosen to provide the service also accept a part of the risk.
In today s world, the most effective method of doing business is for a company to focus on their core
competencies what they do best. The role of outsourcing is critical to a project s success. It can expand
the customer base and allow organizations to focus more on relationships. As outsourcing grows, it
becomes more and more important to balance advantages and disadvantages, understand the risks, and
act to mitigate those risks.

Marijuana Should Not Go Without Suspicion
An indian hemp plant, by the name of marijuana, is the unlikely suspect of thousands of drug induced
accidents and/or deaths in Australia today, especially among teens. At first thought, many may believe
alcohol is the outright cause of such accidents, but at a closer look at the facts and figures one will
discover that marijuana should not go without suspicion. The vast amounts of chemicals of which
marijuana contains each have their own impacts unto the human body, not to mention the increasing
use of the drug among teens. It is here then obvious that marijuana should be the headline of this ad
campaign, in comparison to alcohol a much less substantial drug.

smoke for as long as possible to increase the effects of the drug, which then on worsens the damage to
the lungs. Another organ marijuana effectively destroys is the immune system of which alcohol has
not yet been seen to damage. Marijuana also contains some cancer causing ingredients that remain for
incredibly long in the body after the drug has been taken. Studies in 2008 have shown a link between
years of heavy marijuana use and brain abnormalities a large suspect of the long patterns of psychosis
in the users of the drug. Some other effects of marijuana use include: deformation of the sperm cells,
disrupted menstrual cycles, diminished mental functions, hereditary defects and, most prominently,
major depression and/or anxiety. Marijuana s unpleasant effects take away any user s quality of life,
let alone a small teen, and continues to have substantially larger impacts unto these children especially
in comparison to alcohol.

Noah s Ark was very significant in the history of the Bible. This was significant because it was a
major event in the Bible. The event of Noah s Ark brought about what we know today. All of the
animals that roam the Earth and the plants that grow and take root around us. Noah had much faith in
God. Anything that God told Noah to do, he did. One day, God asked Noah to do something huge.
God told Noah to build an ark and that he would send a huge flood. God told Noah to put two of each
animal that He had created in the ark and that they had to be male and female, so that they could
reproduce after the flood. He also told Noah to bring his three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth and their
wives with him. Noah listened and brought all of the animals

Freud Vs Erikson Research Paper
Sigmund Freud s psychosexual theory and Erik Erikson s psychosocial theory are two important and
well known psychoanalytic theories on human development. Both theories are often compared and
contrasted in developmental studies. Like Freud, Erikson also believed that human development
occurs in a series of stages of a person s life. However, Freud s theory focuses on basic needs and
biological impulses like the need for food and sexual behaviors in the early stages of life. While
Erikson s theory emphasized on environment experiences and social interactions throughout the early
and later stages of life.
In the first year of development, the oral stage by Freud and the trust vs. mistrust stage by Erikson,
both psychologists believed children develop a sense of trust during this stage. Whereas through

Freud called this stage the phallic stage. During this stage Freud believed children begin to develop
pleasure in genitals, recognize their gender and develop self esteem. Erikson referred this stage as
initiative vs. guilt as children begin their preschool years. Children begin to face new challenges,
explore beyond themselves and develop a sense of initiative. If criticized or punished they begin to
feel guilty for their actions. Ages 7 to 11 is the 4th developmental stage. Freud

Maya really values her freedom, and the one of all Blacks. That is why she fight for their equality. An
example of this, is when she left Make because he wanted her to be a traditional wife. Maya, who
already had little money for her and her son, decided to put all her time and effort into the Cabaret of
Freedom. What had started as an idea between friends became an important even because of her
investment. She quit everything she had been doing to organize, pick the cast and the theater, and she
even requested to take care of addressing the envelopes. During that time, she was not working, so her

South Delaware Coors, Inc
Abstract
The purpose of this case is to analyze Larry Brownlow s decision to invest and operate a Coors
Distributor in south Delaware. Coors Beer is located in Golden, Colorado and has many distributors
that are monitored closely throughout the country. Coors is known for its dedication to quality by
suppliers, wholesalers, and its customers. Not only does Coors monitor wholesalers and distributors,
the company also requires that the wholesaler and distributor us recycling equipment. Mr. Brownlow
had $15,000 to research the decision and decide if he should own the South Delaware Distribution
Center. $800,000 is needed for initial investment of the distributor. Since Coors will enter this area for

helpful to break down the Delaware population into counties. Study B costs $1,500. Study C looks at
the market share that Coors has shared compared to their competitors. This will allow Larry to see if
there is a trend and try to see what the market share may be in the future to forecast sales. Study C

what licenses would be needed to sell the most beer. Study D costs $1,000. Study E examines the
taxes that the wholesalers paid in Delaware. This study is helpful because it allows Larry to see how
much of a profit is going to be paid in taxes. Study E costs $200. Study F provides the financial
information for beer wholesalers. This is useful because Larry will be able to see what money is used

government of the United States had signed a quota with the Austrian government, as a way to take

In 1933, the rise of Hitler Adolf in Germany triggered the widespread persecution of Jews in Europe,
particularly Germany. Different Jews all over the continent wished to flee the nations in Europe to
escape the political, social and economic oppression in Germany. However, there were few countries
that were willing to accept Jews as fugitive in their nations. Under the leadership of Hitler, there were
over 6 million Jews that were persecuted all over the world in a bid to eliminate Jews from the face of
the Earth (HISTORY.com).
The American traditional policy hindered the intervention of the American government through
restricting the quotas. The quota system only permitted a maximum of 25957 Germans to enter the
borders of the United States. In reference to the stock market crisis in 1929, there was a rise in
unemployment in the United States leading to the further emphasis on immigration policies of the

Agrippina The Younger Analysis
Julia Augusta Agrippina, or more commonly, Agrippina the Younger was a Roman empress consort
and one of the most distinguished women of the Julio Claudian dynasty. In her earlier years,
Agrippina, as well as her mother and older brother, were remorsly mistreated by Emperor Tiberius,
who was only a stepson of Augustus. She would have learned at her mother s knee to despise usurpers
who were not direct descendants of Augustus. Historians have long suspected that a childhood spent
steeped in fear and resentment may have driven Agrippina in her determination to rule rather than
suffer the whims of a ruler. Agrippina the Younger has been described by both ancient sources and
modern scholars as ruthless, aggressive, violent, and domineering. With ... Show more content on

Modern historians have suggested that Claudius ruled with far more effectiveness than the ancient
sources credit him, Suetonius speaks of his ruling as carefree and unstrategetic as commented by
Cassius Dio, Agrippina was adorned with various honors such as the title of Augusta appointed by
Claudius himself. During the reign of Claudius, Augustus was sometimes used as a name for men of
noble birth, making Agrippina the first living consort of a living emperor to receive such an honor as
well as one of the first women to challenge the social structure of Rome, thus giving Agrippina a role
of stature far beyond normally achievable. Being allowed the right to use the carpentum at festivals, as
well as other honors was an uncommon privilege that could only be given by the Senate, it represented
power and wealth that not many women could have. Agrippina s role during the reign of Claudius has
been described as influential and aspiring during such a traditional period in time. Claudius favored
her so, allowing her to take some rein in his politics and his ruling. It has been said that Claudius was

Summary Of Robert Mcmahon s The Cold War
While the individual documents that are a part of this week s reading are insightful, particularly the
grubby Lee Atwater article and Ronald Reagan s manichean moral vision of America in his 1983
speech at the annual convention of the National Association of American Evangelicals, Robert
McMahon in his book The Cold War: A Very Short Introduction shows the importance of broad
overviews in accurately analyzing history. If overviews are skipped, historical analysis can get bogged
down in details, which can potentially lead to seeing the forest for the trees. Although almost
exclusively focused on foreign policy, McMahon reveals a president that is able to change with the
times. Even before Gorbachev, Reagan was willing to adjust his actual policy positions in the face of

He, and many conservative evangelical leaders, took advantage of cultural fears to create an ideology
where any compromise was seen as an existential threat to Christianity and the moral goodness of
America. Additionally, his explicit hostility to many government programs, which might have had
inefficiencies, amplified the general undermining of institutions that is bearing fruit in society today.
Reagan, like many leaders exhibited positive and negative attributes, most often dependent on one s
political affiliation. My main point is that the vilification or glorification of Reagan simplifies the
historical narrative into partisan, ideological silos. I focused on this point while reading the documents
because of the perturbing events transpiring in politics today. A dialogue between liberal host Bill
Maher and neoconservative writer David Frum on the most recent Real Time show on HBO, vividly
showed the growing realization that our institutions are under threat. Sensationalism, whether it
adheres to the liberal or conservative ideology, has given rise to a dangerous form of cynicism that

Media Coverage On The Vietnam War
The Vietnam War introduced many new forms of technology on and off of the battlefield. Increased
weaponry helped shape the outcome of the war, but media coverage also played a large role in
representing the news and opinions of the war. Viet Thanh Nguyen s The Sympathizer helps illustrate
how the media influences and spreads the opinions of the people during the Vietnam War. The war
media, which includes newspapers, movies, and most importantly television, caters towards its
audience. What the media publishes shapes the public opinion, and the media creates their stance
based on the profit they receive.
The media reports on material that will produce the largest viewership. War coverage is the most
profitable form of news that these news sites cover, so when a war is being fought, they cover the war
almost exclusively to gain a large audience. CNN saved their company from going bankrupt by
exclusively showing coverage of the Iraq War in 1991; now they are a multibillion dollar business
venture. Television media such as CNN and FOX News cover positive stories and news, but the
negative news gains them the largest audience, which translates to the largest revenue. The primary
drive for these media networks is profit and market shares rather than upholding high journalistic
standards. The government knows how popular these shows are during war and they use these shows
to their advantage to sway the public opinions and support of the war. They can t necessarily control

Functional here means fully tested, documented, and debugged (Kyle). In short, Kyle spends about
two weeks building a single feature. He only moves to another feature once the current feature works,

be considered functional does not mean that it can be integrated to the Symbiotic products. In fact, I
learned that Kyle s company uses git to track all of their projects. Once a feature is considered done,
such feature must be reviewed by at least 3 other people and get their consent to merge into the master
branch of git. In other words, at least 3 people must review the feature and agree that the feature is
ready to be implemented in the final product. Kyle s description of the the process a feature must go
through in order to be incorporated into a final product was amazing. I realized that features are not
usually implemented within days, instead they take weeks as they must be proven to be elegant correct
and capable of being implemented into the rest of the

Aaron Feuerstein-a Socially Responsible Owner
Case 1
Aaron Feuerstein A Socially Responsible Owner
The evening of December 11, 1995, was a special time for Aaron Feuerstein, CEO of Malden Mills. A
small surprise 70th birthday party quietly was held in his honor at a local Boston restaurant. But
Feuerstein s life took a dramatic turn that evening for a different reason: A boiler at his company s
plant exploded, setting off a fire that injured 33employees and destroyed three of the factory s century
old buildings. Malden Mills was a privately owned firm, with Feuerstein owning a majority share. The
firm was located in a small Massachusetts town, Methuen, and employed nearly 3,000 people in the
economically depressed area. The fire was a devastating blow for the community. According ... Show

The Bank of Boston donated $50,000, the company s union sent $100,000, and the Chamber of
Commerce in nearby Lawrence, Massachusetts, contributed $150,000. Many of Malden Mills
customers promised to stick with the company and wait for them to rebuild and regain their
production capacity rather than switch to a competitor.
Just eight months after the fire, three of the four production lines at Malden Mills were fully
operational and all but 500 of the nearly 2,400 employees were back to work in the factory. But
unexpected downturns in the apparel industry challenged the wisdom of Feuerstein s actions. By 1998,
employees at Malden Mills experienced steady layoffs and the firm acquired $120 million in debt.
Under the leadership of new chief operating officer Gerald Bowe, following the values of the
company s founder, Malden Mills experienced a turnaround in 1999. Hourly employee recalls
numbered 1,500, bringing the total number of employees back to the level at the time of fire.
Government and overseas contracts countered the decline in sales in the competitive domestic market,
and Malden Mills appeared to be recovering from its financial setbacks as the firm entered the twenty
first century. Aaron Feuerstein s commitment to both the company s economic and social mission and
goals appeared to have emerged from ashes intact.

Excellence In The Works Of Martin Luther King Jr.
Excellence is a self imposed standard of conduct. In addition, excellence also, ...means replacing
bumbling with efficiency, carelessness with skill, embarrassment with pride (Johnston page 24). This
is what we mean by the word excellence. Excellence is difficult to define because, ... we all certainly
recognize it when we observe it in others. And we are refreshed and reassured when we witness it
(Johnston page 25). This word can also be defined as, a certain style of life, a manner of living, a
bigness of spirit, a point of view, a frame of reference, a set of priorities, a hierarchy of values, an
admirable self imposed standard (Johnston page 25). Johnston s statement on Martin Luther King Jr.
was very inspiring. It just goes to show us that we only have to believe in ourselves and set high
standards for excellence. Out of the three truths I have learned in my readings, the first ... Show more

There is usually some overlap. People who focus on one frequently attain a measure of the other. At
this point it might be helpful to examine both success and excellence (Johnston page 29, 30). For
purposes of discussion, let us establish the term success as attaining cultural goals that are sure to
elevate one s perceived importance within that culture (Johnston page30). Success is so sought after
because, our comprehension of excellence is enhanced by contrasting it with something we constantly
hear about: success. Also, I am not implying that one is invariably good and the other is always
undesirable. It is evident that success pales in the brilliance of excellence. The latter, in comparison
with the former, is an essential ingredient in the character of any nation (Johnston page 37). Therefore,
in our world, excellence must not be perceived as optional. It is a necessity (Johnston page

The Interrogation Methods
Torture has been around for a very long time. Military leader Napoleon wrote an anti torture letter in
1798 saying, The barbarous custom of having men beaten who are suspected of having important
secrets to reveal must be abolished. It has always been recognized that this way of interrogating men,
by putting them to torture, produces nothing worthwhile. The poor wretches say anything that comes
into their mind and what they think the interrogator wishes to know. The interrogation methods are a
problem for many reasons. One, the methods waste time. Secondly, there are other ways to get
information besides torture. If the CIA is clever, they could acquire more information, and faster. A
student of Australia s Charles Sturt University conducted a study on what methods work in the CIA.

other prisoners, and in one case, resuscitation was necessary. The torture the CIA uses goes against the

Appropriateness Of The Conceptual Models Relating To...
Many behavior and social problems observed in children are related to poor classroom interventions
that are designed to meet those needs. It is important that these models are applied during children s
development through positive interactions in the family, childcare centre, school and the community.
However, not all conceptual models are appropriate in assisting student with behavior problems.
Therefore, this essay will discuss appropriateness of the conceptual models to assisting students with
behavior problems in schools that includes Biological/biophysical, Psychodynamic, Behavioural,
Cognitive behavioural, Sociological and Ecological models. Also this essay will explain how they can
be accommodated by professionals to create a supportive early childhood, and promoting positive
school climate to foster wellbeing, development and learning.
The first model is the biological/biophysical model which generate negative expectations for
individuals with disabilities that resulted from biophysical etiologies (Rosenberg, Wilson, Maheady,
Sindelar, 2004).Therefore , this model is inappropriate as some professional working with students
with known biophysical impairment can be judgmental and low expectations of their performance
(Kauffman,1985). Hence, professional and educators must be responsible to educate all students with
no exceptions. They should integrate key principles into everyday instructional techniques and
classroom practices and looking for opportunities to

Shakespeare uses the act of disguise to create plot development in Twelfth Night.
In Twelfth Night, mistaken identity was used several times to create plot development. Olivia calls a
priest to marry Sebastian (He is Viola brother who was thought to be dead in a ship wrecked and
returns later to meet Olivia), but she thinks is Cesario and this is important to the plot because that is
when the truth starts coming out. Olivia says, O welcome father! / Father, I charge thee by thy
reverence / Here to unfold though lately we intended / To keep in darkness what occasion now /
Reveals before tis ripe what thou dost know / Hath newly pass d between this youth and me
(Shakespeare 5.1.146 150). Here, Olivia asks the priest to affirm her marriage person she believes she
married. She has married Sebastian but however supposes she marry Cesario . This is important to the
plot because this when Olivia gets married to Sebastian and Olivia thinks she has found her true love
Cesario and creates room for the mystery in the play to be answered. In addition to that, Viola says
that she can not love Olivia because of she is not she think he is. Viola says, By innocence I swear,

How Does Presbyopia Occur In Middle Adulthood
For the purpose of remaining consistent throughout this report, we are going to assume that middle
adulthood begins at 45 years of age. While the majority of adults in this age bracket maintain healthy
and satisfying lives, the realities of physical deterioration are inevitable, and can only be postponed for
so long. There is a plethora of physical changes that occur during this period; these include a decline
in sexual performance, lowered bone density, lowered endurance, and menopause. However, the trait I
would like to focus on is age related farsightedness, also called presbyopia. Presbyopia can make
reading small print, and using smaller electronic devices, troublesome. Unfortunately, this physical

Peace-Weaver In Beowulf
Based on the story, Beowulf by Heaney, the poet had described three types of the women role in
literature are peace weavers, hostess, and monster. First, the female role of the peace weaver in the
epic poem literature is meant to describe the woman who has married off to someone and brings a
peace to her household and the nation. Queen Wealtheow is a wife of King Hrothgar who was an
example of success among the peace weavers. She plays an active role in the society through words of
encouragement to her people to make them hand out the treasure for her heroes. (Murphy) Therefore,
the roles of Queen Wealtheow make her become a peace weaver within both social and political
realms of her life. Even she is a wife, that married to the Frisian king. ... Show more content on

Second, the female role of hostess deciphers the relationships in society and also exposes the
prejudices in the poem (Murphy). The poet has mentioned the women s role in this poem through
Queen Wealtheow s character in the mead cup. As a queen, Wealtheow is the most powerful women,
and she also is the most important women in the kingdom. As a queen, Wealtheow is fully depicted in
the Beowulf and the poet has analyzed specifically to connect with her role in the mead hall as an
excellent heart and sure of the speech. According to the authors, The mead cup was served in order to
mark the allegiance of each man in his turn to the king, whose mead hall they occupied (Edgington).
This statement shows how the hostess role of the Queen Wealtheow was very important. She does all
the duties to carry the mead cup in the hall and go around to offer the drink to the King and the
warriors before she greets Beowulf. Besides that, the queen plays to her role as a woman speaking to
all the men in the hall and reminding them with their families, their king, country, and their

India
Modern India is a pluralistic, multilingual, and multi ethnic society . Modern India, as we are familiar
with today, originally began in 1848 as the East India Company. This is when most of the changes
occurred that propelled India into the powerhouse that it has become today. In 1848, Lord Dalhouse
was appointed as Governor General. Under Lord Dalhouse s leadership multiple processes were
implemented. These include the consolidation demarcartion of society, the surveillance of society, and
the education of citizens. Along with changes to society came technological advances such as those to
the railways, canals, and the telegraph which all were implemented in India almost immediately after
their introduction in Europe. However, not all of India s population was pleased with the direction the
the East India Company was moving in. The new British style social reforms which included large
increases in land taxes were among the issues that the population was unhappy about. In 1857, the
East Indian Rebellion occurred. The East Indian Rebellion lasted approximately one year and issues
were settled in 1858 resulting in the East India Company being dissolved. Consequently, India was
now under the leadership and direction of the British government. The difference between this new
style of British rule and the type of British rule that led to the rebellion was that this new leadership

The Erk Mapk Pathway Causes Osteoporosis And Formation...
Disregulation of the ERK MAPK pathway causes osteoporosis and osteochondroma in mice
Abstract
Introduction
Bones are dynamic tissues that undergo a constant cycle of fracturing, resorbing, and remodeling.
Bone mass is reflected by the coupled balance of osteoblasts, which produce bone matrix proteins and
osteoclasts, which degrade bone (Miyamoto, 2003). This opposite and complementary activity
between these two lineages of cells maintains the homeostasis of bone resorption and formation
during bone remodeling. Dysregulation of this process is a major mechanism in the pathogenesis of
many human skeletal disorders such as osteoporosis and osteochondroma (Edwards, 2012).
Osteoporosis is one of the major contributors to the overall physical and psychological manifestations
of frailty associated with aging. Osteoporosis related fractures are a common cause of the morbidity
and mortality associated with aging. Approximately 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men will experience an
osteoporosis related fracture during their lifetime.14 Osteoporotic hip fractures are associated with a
high rate of subsequent mortality and a prolonged period of months to over a year before mobility is
regained.15 Predominantly, existing treatments for osteoporosis fail to harness osteoblast biology
precisely because many of the molecular pathways that regulate osteoblast function remain largely
unknown. Loss of bone mass is caused by high numbers of osteoclasts. Decreased production of

Roman Empire Future
What will the world be in a hundred years? That is a question that runs through everyone s head at

advanced with computers and cars but we don t know how the world will work. Will the world come
to full stop and fail, adapt and progress or if it will go back to the roots of our ancestors to run
properly. Some ask Will the global hegemonic dominion of the USA fade away like the Roman
Empire? Or is the US just now fully developing into an American Empire? Will the world deteriorate
into a kind of international neo feudalism? Or are we on the brink of a Second Renaissance. The

the world s best economy and gaining more territories. As for having neo feudalism run through the
government is a 50 50 chance because it depends on how much power is given to the rich in the

Essay on Secret Window
Secret Window
The movie, Secret Window, is a psychological thriller that is based on a novella called Secret Window,
Secret Garden by Stephen King. Like most psychological thrillers, the character that has a mental
illness is portrayed in a very exaggerated and dramatic way. Some portrayals can be very accurate
while others are simply for reeling in the audience. For the purpose of this paper, I will discuss the
accuracy of David Koepp s portrayal of Dissociative Identity Disorder in the main character of Secret
Window, some symptoms that are clear and maybe not so clear, as well as treatment options for DID.
Dissociative Identity Disorder, previously known as multiple personality disorder , is a mental

tendencies, sleep disorders, anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, alcohol and drug abuse, compulsions and

experiences are also not unheard of in people with DID. According to the DSM IV TR, the person
must meet certain criteria in order to be diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder. This includes
two or more distinct identities or personality states being present, each with its own relatively
enduring pattern of perceiving, relating to, and thinking about the environment and self, at least two of
these identities or personality states recurrently taking control of the person s behavior, the person
having an inability to recall important personal information that is too extensive to be explained by
ordinary forgetfulness, and the disturbance not being due to the direct physiological effects of a
substance (such as blackouts or chaotic behavior during alcohol intoxication) or a general medical
condition (such as complex partial seizures). Now that you know more about Dissociative Identity
Disorder, I will discuss how it is portrayed in the character, Mort Rainey, in the movie Secret Window.

Communication In Interpersonal Communication
Faith Awareness
To begin with, this paper will include seven different concepts that were learned from interpersonal
communication. Starting off with the different communication needs and finishing with deception
within relationships. To mention a few, also included in the paper are how perception affects
communication, Knapp s stages of relational development and Gottman s four horsemen of the
apocalypse. Each concept will be defined as by the book, Interpersonal Communication, by Kory
Floyd (2011). Furthermore, concepts learned will be discussed on how this affects our faith and
communication with future relationships.
Communication Needs
First, communication needs are aspects in our lives that are affected by our communication. These are
physical, relational, identity, spiritual and instrumental needs. Physical needs help with maintaining
one s physical and mental health. Next are relational needs, which assist in developing friendships and
relationships. Communication helps with figuring out who you are as a person, this is known as
identity needs. The fourth need communication helps with is spiritual needs, which lets us share our
beliefs and values with others (Floyd, 2011, p. 9). Last one are instrumental needs, these make it easier
for everyday tasks.
Communication needs serve an importance to our relationships because by understanding how
communication fits in on our needs as humans, this can help us express effectively towards others.
This helps us

The Historical Context In The Catcher In The Rye
The historical context in The Catcher in the Rye reveals the book was written during a period of
anguish. As stated by Daniel Burt, ...a prosperous postwar period that gave rise to suburban
conformity and teenage angst, (Burt 2). This quote states that what was going on in society at that time
was how Holden was feeling. The feeling of teenage rebellion and depression were taking over his life
and leading him to do immoral things. Based on the quote above, we can see how Holden created a
cultural mordancy that his readers can easily detect, leading to the thought that this book was created
under the impression of loss and a world gone wrong. Burt writes, Salinger s novel, observes Louis
Menand, provides adolescents with a layer of psychic insulation. Critic Harold Bloom speaks to the
novel s enduring influence when he states, The Catcher in the Rye struck a nerve for one generation,
but it seems to appeal to sensitive young people in later generations as well... (Burt 3). This quote
states that the novel has created a huge impact on society and has left an image that the book can be
quite insulting. Because of this, we can see that this book is not only a mockery of society but is unfit
for teens to read. According to Hochman and Mueller, Whether Holden s sense of society and culture
comes from rebelling against prep school, family, friends, teachers, maturation, and even death, his
character continuously scrapes against the grain of societal pressures and

  • 2. Heart Of Darkness Human Nature I had no difficulty in finding the Company s offices. It was the biggest thing in the town, and everybody I met was full of it.... (1.22). The novella, Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, is an extrospective look at man and his actions. Throughout the novella, human nature is discussed at great length as many unique individuals, show varying traits and desires, strive to accomplish great (or not so great) tasks. From imperialists, marauders, steam boat captains, or tribesman everyone succumbs to the same basic human emotions. The men and women in heart of Darkness portray the true nature of mankind. One of the earliest ideas of human nature presented is the striving for power or control. As Marlow s early life is discussed, the first examples ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is reassured that the enemies are there. When Marlowe arrives at the camp, he makes note of the disturbing abuse of the slaves stating I could see every rib, the joints of their limbs were like knots in a rope; each had an iron collar around his neck... (ch1/pg53). The numerous, well armed, Europeans used their power to enslave the local populace to further their own gains. When Marlowe s ship came under fire from natives, the mere sound of the foghorn drove them away in fear. They truly had lost power over their situation. Some even joined Europeans like Kurtz. Human nature makes us strive towards the strong and abandon the weak. Those Natives who raided other natives villages sought power and security in a time of uncertainty. To truly signify power, Joseph Conrad used a symbol. In Heart of Darkness, Ivory is equivalent to power. Although it could easily be substituted to represent any number of things; money, strength, or stature. In Heart of Darkness, ivory is the major commodity and export of Africa. So, the imperialists want it. The main inspiration for Kurtz raids and killings (Besides being insane) is obtaining ivory. • 3. Stereotypes Of Rap Music The course topics this session were all very interesting. The one that seemed to resonate with me the most was the section about Rap Music. The way that the material was presented and how Rap Music as a whole was dissected was really intriguing. One point that really stuck with me was the Our Buddy discussion. It really opened my eyes to how the rap/hip hop industry markets the music to us. This paper will show that the stereotype of Our Buddy in rap music is very real and how the material has turned from an art form into and marketing ploy. I intend to support my argument with examples and analysis by explaining how the stereotype can become accepted as a social norm. Music is not just music, or just a source of entertainment; rather ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The violence described by rap lyrics is the exception, and not the rule when it comes to the real life urban neighborhoods that rap songs often depict. This is further evidence that Our Buddy is a stereotype in rap lyrics. This stereotype, that violent rap lyrics promote, can influence some people, white and black alike, to accept violence and to behave in a violent manner. Still, some will argue that people will not allow the violent stereotypes in rap lyrics to influence them and that they know the difference between fantasy and reality. I think that rap fans find great pleasure in believing the authenticity of their favorite rapper which adds on to the issue at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Critically reflect on the arguments as to why a code of ethics is essential to support the regulation of the accounting profession in New Zealand. Introduction Code of Ethics display the ideal qualities that one should follow and demonstrate, in the accounting profession. When something is being decomposed, it s being broken down slowly. When something is being decomposed by living bacteria or other living organisms then it is biodegradable. As an effect of this, eventually, the materials will be fully broken down. In landfills, most materials start to decompose (North and Halden 2013). Materials such as extruded polystyrene foam, plastic, and paper that are in landfills can cause pollution. Pollution is the act of introducing something that will bring harmful effects. Biodegradation helps to reduce the amount of trash in landfills so that landfills do not become full of capacity. About 30% of landfill space is filled with extruded polystyrene foam products alone (Little 2017). Landfills are quickly being filled and very soon there will not be enough space in the world to place trash. extruded polystyrene foam is a material that decomposes over a long period. Inside extruded polystyrene foam is a chemical called Styrene which leaches into substances leading to water pollution when it precipitates and the runoff goes into nearby bodies of water (Little 2017). When something leaches it is being percolated into another liquid or substance. 34 million tons of plastic were produced in 2008 in the United States alone and 86% ended up in landfills (North and Halden 2013). That s a lot of plastic that ended up in landfills. Over the years the numbers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Outsourcing Service From A Supplier Outsourcing is simply obtaining a product or a service from a supplier. Outsourcing services can supplement an existing internal source, replace an existing internal source, or consist of a new product or service a company has never provided before. In the past, it was commonplace for companies to try to do it all. Manufacturing companies would design, engineer, and build the end product while providing Information Technology support... regardless of the complexity of the end product and its components. As time went on, it became obvious that a company cannot do it all. It became more and more routine for organizations to outsource complex portions of their work. Smaller companies found it useful to outsource their payroll processing. This soon grew into the recognition that if it is better to outsource payroll, why not consider outsourcing the entire HR function? Industries began to grow to support vertical business services such as HR and accounting. The companies that are chosen to provide the service also accept a part of the risk. In today s world, the most effective method of doing business is for a company to focus on their core competencies what they do best. The role of outsourcing is critical to a project s success. Many behavior and social problems observed in children are related to poor classroom interventions that are designed to meet those needs. While the majority of adults in this age bracket maintain healthy and satisfying lives, the realities of physical deterioration are inevitable, and can only be postponed for so long. There is a plethora of physical changes that occur during this period; these include a decline in sexual performance, lowered bone density, lowered endurance, and menopause. However, the trait I would like to focus on is age related farsightedness, also called presbyopia. Presbyopia can make reading small print, and using smaller electronic devices, troublesome. First, the female role of the peace weaver in the epic poem literature is meant to describe the woman who has married off to someone and brings a peace to her household and the nation. Queen Wealtheow is a wife of King Hrothgar who was an example of success among the peace weavers. She plays an active role in the society through words of encouragement to her people to make them hand out the treasure for her heroes. This statement shows how the hostess role of the Queen Wealtheow was very important. She does all the duties to carry the mead cup in the hall and go around to offer the drink to the King and the warriors before she greets Beowulf. Cassandra Kaur Sheanh Dr. Russell Mardon Political Science 147 February 1, 2015 India Modern India is a pluralistic, multilingual, and multi ethnic society . Modern India, as we are familiar with today, originally began in 1848 as the East India Company. This is when most of the changes occurred that propelled India into the powerhouse that it has become today. In 1848, Lord Dalhouse was appointed as Governor General. Under Lord Dalhouse s leadership multiple processes were implemented. These include the consolidation demarcartion of society, the surveillance of society, and the education of citizens. Along with changes to society came technological advances such as those to the railways, canals, and the telegraph which all were implemented in India almost immediately after their introduction in Europe. However, not all of India s population was pleased with the direction the the East India Company was moving in. The new British style social reforms which included large increases in land taxes were among the issues that the population was unhappy about. In 1857, the East Indian Rebellion occurred. The East Indian Rebellion lasted approximately one year and issues were settled in 1858 resulting in the East India Company being dissolved. Consequently, India was now under the leadership and direction of the British government. • 33. The Erk Mapk Pathway Causes Osteoporosis And Formation... Disregulation of the ERK MAPK pathway causes osteoporosis and osteochondroma in mice Abstract Introduction Bones are dynamic tissues that undergo a constant cycle of fracturing, resorbing, and remodeling. Bone mass is reflected by the coupled balance of osteoblasts, which produce bone matrix proteins and osteoclasts, which degrade bone (Miyamoto, 2003). This opposite and complementary activity between these two lineages of cells maintains the homeostasis of bone resorption and formation during bone remodeling. Dysregulation of this process is a major mechanism in the pathogenesis of many human skeletal disorders such as osteoporosis and osteochondroma (Edwards, 2012). Osteoporosis is one of the major contributors to the overall physical and psychological manifestations of frailty associated with aging. Osteoporosis related fractures are a common cause of the morbidity and mortality associated with aging. Approximately 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men will experience an osteoporosis related fracture during their lifetime.14 Osteoporotic hip fractures are associated with a high rate of subsequent mortality and a prolonged period of months to over a year before mobility is regained.15 Predominantly, existing treatments for osteoporosis fail to harness osteoblast biology precisely because many of the molecular pathways that regulate osteoblast function remain largely unknown. Loss of bone mass is caused by high numbers of osteoclasts. Decreased production of estrogen and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Like most psychological thrillers, the character that has a mental illness is portrayed in a very exaggerated and dramatic way. For the purpose of this paper, I will discuss the accuracy of David Koepp s portrayal of Dissociative Identity Disorder in the main character of Secret Window, some symptoms that are clear and maybe not so clear, as well as treatment options for DID. According to the DSM IV TR, the person must meet certain criteria in order to be diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder. To mention a few, also included in the paper are how perception affects communication, Knapp s stages of relational development and Gottman s four horsemen of the apocalypse. Each concept will be defined as by the book, Interpersonal Communication, by Kory Floyd (2011). Furthermore, concepts learned will be discussed on how this affects our faith and communication with future relationships. Communication Needs First, communication needs are aspects in our lives that are affected by our communication. These are physical, relational, identity, spiritual and instrumental needs. Physical needs help with maintaining one s physical and mental health. Next are relational needs, which assist in developing friendships and relationships. Communication helps with figuring out who you are as a person, this is known as identity needs. The fourth need communication helps with is spiritual needs, which lets us share our beliefs and values with others (Floyd, 2011, p. 9). Last one are instrumental needs, these make it easier for everyday tasks. Communication needs serve an importance to our relationships because by understanding how communication fits in on our needs as humans, this can help us express effectively towards others. This quote states that what was going on in society at that time was how Holden was feeling. The feeling of teenage rebellion and depression were taking over his life and leading him to do immoral things. Based on the quote above, we can see how Holden created a cultural mordancy that his readers can easily detect, leading to the thought that this book was created under the impression of loss and a world gone wrong. Burt writes, Salinger s novel, observes Louis Menand, provides adolescents with a layer of psychic insulation.
