The Amusement Park Six Flags New England
The legendary amusement park Six Flags New England is situated in Western Massachusetts in the
city of Agawam, Massachusetts, and has been running since 1870. During this time, it was
originally an ordinary picnic with a cluster of trees named Gallup s Grove. Subsequently, the park
replaced its name with Riverside, and has had its name of Riverside for the majority of the entire
period of the 1900s. One famous event, known as The 1929 Wall Street Crash, then had an
unfortunate effect on the amusement park, and as a result, the amusement park shut down in 1939
after countless efforts to reestablish the amusement park. After the Wall Street Crash, Edward
Carroll Senior made history when made an investment and paid for the amusement park, and
developed the amusement park into a notable success in New England. After a century of the
amusement park being known as Riverside, it then changed its name to Six FlagsNew England in
2000. This amusement park has various rides with a maximum amount of thrill which have
customers at the edge of their seats, less thrilling rides which are excellent for just sitting back and
enjoying themselves without all the maximized thrill, eating, entertainment, and shopping for
relaxing from all the exciting rides and taking it easy, and Hurricane Harbor to cool you off in the
summer and Fright Fest to terrorize and startle you during Halloween.

Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream
Hermia s speech in Act 2, Scene 2, of Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream, contains an
abundance of dream imagery. She has awoken from a terrible dream after falling asleep in the
forest with Lysander. They were lost and tired so they decided to rest. Lysander wanted to sleep
beside her but, she refused since they are not yet married and while they slept Puck applied a love
potion on Lysander s eyes thinking he was Demetrius. Lysander wakes and is repulsed by the
sight of Hermia and never wants to see her again because he is now in love with Helena. Hermia
awakes from her terrible dream and retells it thinking that Lysander is nearby listening. Then she
realizes that he is not there and she does not see him anywhere. Hermia expresses the sentiment
that she will find Lysander or she will surely die. She stated, Help me, Lysander, help me! do thy
best To pluck this crawling serpent from my breast! Ay me, for pity! what a dream was here!
Lysander, look how I do quake with fear: Methought a serpent eat my heart away, And you sat
smiling at his cruel pray. Lysander! what, removed? Lysander! lord! What, out of hearing? gone?

Metentialism In Robert Frost s The Five People You Meet...
It is when individuals overcome their differences and become viewed from different perspectives.
This can offer new understandings and perceptions of ourselves and others. This is explored
through Robert Frost s poetry including his poem Mending Wall and The Tuft of Flowers . Frost
explores different perceptions of society in his time through his connections with nature and his
personal life. This is also reflected through Mitch Albom s novel, The Five People You Meet in
Heaven as the protagonist, Eddie experiences death and meets the five people who have influenced
or he has influenced throughout his life.
In Frost s poem Mending Wall , was written just months before World War I was declared. Also,
political tensions between European countries were rising, it is through Frost s poetry where
intellectual discoveries are uncovered. The persona of the poem meets with his neighbour to fix a
wall between their properties. we meet to walk the line and set the wall between us once again .
Frost utilises elements of irony to convey how the only time the persona and the neighbour meet,
which is to rebuild the wall; the wall that keeps them apart. The persona comes to the first
physical discovery of the usefulness of the wall itself, We do not need the wall: He is all pine and
I am apple orchard which is metaphorical for the personalities of the two individuals presented. The
neighbour, all pine is about practicality and being discrete whilst the persona is presented as

St. Edmond Parish Case Summary
St. Edmond s Catholic Church
A diocese is a district under the pastoral care of a bishop in the Christian Church. St. Edmond
Church is located within The Diocese of Lafayette. The Diocese of Lafayette is made up of 121
church parishes. It was established in 1918 when it was separated from the Archdiocese of New
Orleans and created as its own. St. Edmond Catholic Church has been a diocesan parish since 1974.
In 1974 Bishop Gerald L. Frey served as the Bishop of the Diocese of Lafayette. As the Lafayette
and surrounding areas grew, so did the need for a new church parish. The first priests assigned to
this newly developed parish were Father Thomas C. Dowling and Father Patrick Mallinson.
There was no formal house of worship constructed, so masses were held in the Villa Maria
Apartment Complex. Masses were offered at five different times on the weekend. As more
Catholics began attending, the need for a new place to offer the Eucharist grew larger weekly. It
was in 1974 that the Lafayette School Board allowed the two priests to use the cafeteria at the
Prairie Elementary School as a temporary church until the diocese could find or construct a building.

Biometrics Essay
Biometrics
Biometrics is described as the use of human physical features to verify identity and has been in use
since the beginning of recorded history. Only recently, biometrics has been used in today s high
tech society for the prevention of identity theft. In this paper, we will be understanding biometrics,
exploring the history of biometrics, examples of today s current technology and where biometrics
are expected to go in the future.
By definition, biometrics (Woodward, Orlans, and Higgins, 2003) is the science of using
biological properties to identify individuals; for example, fingerprints, retina scans, and voice
recognition. We ve all seen in the movies, how the heroes and the villains have used other s
fingerprints and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
European Biometrics Forum is established. US patent for iris recognition expires.
Biometrics began with the inking of the fingers and feet and pressing those inked parts onto paper.
Today, law enforcement agencies are able to utilize biometric tools on the molecular level to
pinpoint criminals when no other evidence exists. In between these two extremes fall a whole
range of techniques used for identification.
The most basic of the techniques is the fingerprint and palm recognition. These methods, while
strong, still have their weaknesses. This led to looking for next level of identification just under the
skin by mapping the vascular structure of a person s hand. Each person has a unique, intricate
pattern of blood vessels that is virtually impossible to replicate since blood vessels have to be grown
and cannot constructed. Another method of biometric identification is through dental records.
Dental records are commonly used to identify a human by comparing the dental features (i.e., tooth
size and placement, dental work, oral injuries, etc.) and whose identity cannot be determined
through conventional means. Such situations would include a person who s been burn, been
dismembered, or has severely decomposed. This method of identification has taken on such an
important role that Disaster Dental Identification Teams have been developed to assist with
identification following disaster situations.

Annie Dillard was born on April 30, 1945 as Meta Ann Doak in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. She was pushed by her high school teachers and attended Hollins College in
Roanoke, Virginia. Dillard studied literature and creative writing. Sometime in her first two years
at school she met Richard Dillard, who she would be engaged to marry her sophomore year of
college. After she graduated, she married and moved in with her husband. She experimented with
all types of art including painting, drawing, and writing poems (Biography). In 1974, she published

After graduating from Hollins College and getting a house with her husband, a creek called
Tinker Creek, the creek became a source of ideas and a book s title, Pilgrim at Tinker Creek.
Many of Dillard s essays are focused on life, death and their relationship with nature. It is unclear
why she writes so much about death because she had not experienced death close to her when she
was writing.
Dillard was born in 1945, a very important year in America. She was born on the exact day Hitler
killed himself. Just days after, World War II ended on May 8th. Dillard grew up in a time of
economic prosperity. The 50 s were marked by the red scare, Elvis, conservative yet social people,
and the Korean War. In the 60 s, when Dillard was 15В24, Dillard saw antiВCubism, the Civil
Rights Movement, the assassinations of President Kennedy and Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr, and the first man on the moon. She grew up in a very diverse time where
emotions were high then broken down after the assassinations. It was a time that would have
influenced her writing very much, especially because she was young and people tend to be more
influenced by things when they are young.
Dillard is a favorite of critics because she is the youngest to woman to the win Pulitzer prize. Her
writing has a deep knowledge of subjects from many categories of scientific and theological
scholarship (McCleary). Dillard s writing is very appealing to

Tisto Alternate Ending
Tisto entered the arena, one of the few standing buildings on the ruins of Karufr. The planet had
recently been bombarded by the Grandmaster s forces, and the kiffar had decided it would be a
good place to visit due to his own nature. As a scar in the force Tisto had to move around every

through the arena, his leather jacket pushed around by the wind. *Clack* Tisto turned around
quickly, grabbing his saber off his belt. Behind him stood a tall man with a blindfold wrapped
around his head. The mans robes billowed out from behind him, pushed by the wind. Tisto eyed
the man suspiciously, not ever having seen him before. The miraluka Talis looked back at Tisto
unsure what to make of him. He recognized the Knight Commander from when he was Knighted
after New Tython was bombarded, but just like then he was put off by the Knight Commanders
appearance. Unlike the normal human shape aura there was a jagged split in the kiffar s, making
him seem very disconnected. Looking him was disorienting, but after a few seconds Talis began to

The Importance Of Doping In Sports
Doping in sport has been prominent since the Olympics were first introduced in Ancient Greece,
with competitors supposedly ingesting Strychnine as a performance enhancer (Fitch, 2012). This
has continued into today with new research commencing weekly investigating performers using
performance enhancing drugs in a world where the difference between first and second can cost an
athlete millions in sponsorship and reward money. The regulation of doping in sport was not
introduced until the 1960 s, when the sudden death of a cyclist at the 1960 Rome Olympics was
attributed to the amphetamines in his system taken as a performance enhancer. Consequently this
kick started the fight against doping with the IOC creating a list of prohibited substances in 1967,
containing mostly stimulants. World Anti Doping Agency(2003 [online]) states that The spirit of
sport is the celebration of the human spirit, body, and mind. and is characterised as keeping true to
ethics, fair play and honesty; health; and respect for rules and laws. (p.3), this alludes to the fact
that doping is in breach of these characteristics and should be eradicated to maintain the spirit of
sport. This essay will review current thinking about performance enhancing drugs in elite
competitions, the research undertaken and the resolutions suggested.
Savulescu et al., (2004) argues that lifting the prohibition on doping with some drugs would level
the playing field in elite competitions as it would eliminate genetic

Blessed Are The Merciful, For They Shall Receive Mercy
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Introduction: You may be familiar with
the story of Corrie Ten Boom who was sent to a concentration camp along with her father and
sister for hiding Jews. Her father and sister died in the camps, but Corrie Ten Boom was released
due to a clerical error. After the war she spent time going to churches to speak about God s
forgiveness. It is amazing because she witnessed women in the concentration camps brutally
tortured and killed. But she believed that her God was a God of mercy, grace, and forgiveness.
After the war, she returned to Germany to speak and write about the mercy, grace, and
forgiveness of God. She taught that lack of mercy and forgiveness was a sin against God
because we have no reason not to forgive anyone since Christ is the one who has forgiven us of
our sin. How could we hold it back from anyone else? After the war she returned to Germany and
this is what she wrote in her book, The Hiding Place, speaking about one of the most difficult
times she was faced with granting forgiveness. She was asked to go and speak to a church on
forgiveness. She spent her time talking about how God forgives and that was a message the
Germans needed to hear as the war had just ended. She said when God forgives us it is as if our
sins were cast into the deepest part of the ocean, gone forever. After she was done speaking, one of
the guards, who she describes as one of the most wicked and cruel guards in the

Farrington s Character Analysis from Joyce s Counterparts
Farrington s character:
Farrington, in The Counterparts, is unquestionably one of the most maligned characters who
inhabit the short stories that comprise Joyce s Dubliners. The infamous conclusion of
Counterparts in which Farrington viciously beats his helpless son with a walking stick after
returning from a frustrating day at work and the pubs seem for some to be more than adequate
reasoning for his condemnation. If not, the description of his son begging him to stop and
offering to say a Hail Mary for his sinful father, seems to clinch the response. However, it is
extremely important to remember that Farrington is sinned against as well as sinning: that he is a
product as well as a perpetrator of the paralysis of Dublin. Like ... Show more content on

His anger mounts throughout the story. His pawning of his watch may symbolically release
him from the shackles of schedules and time demands, but the frustrations of work only take on
new and more extreme forms at the pub and at home. For Farrington, life repeats itself: work is
like the pub is like home. Thus the root of Farrington s problem is his inability to realize the
maddening circularity that defines his days. He consistently makes life worse for himself, not
better. He slips away from work as he pleases, insults his boss, and matter of factly pawns his
watch to buy alcohol. Though each small rebellion makes him momentarily happy, the displaced
rage simply reappears someplace else, usually exacerbated by his actions.
Farrington shows what can happen when a life consists primarily of mindless repetition: sooner or
later violence will surface, and those who witness or are subject to the violence may themselves act
violently in the future. Farrington s explosive violence sets him apart from some of the other
characters in Dubliners, who often accept routine and boredom as facts of life and do little to upset
the balance of familiarity and calm they ve established.
Joyce remarked in a letter to Stanislaus, I am no friend of tyranny, as you know, but if many
husbands are brutal the atmosphere in which they live is brutal. It is clear that religion and

How Does Unification Of Language Cause Conflict
Another way in which language can prevent or resolve a conflict is by its role in nationalism
that implies a process of unification. Unification can either be the cause of a conflict because
your local identity is attacked or be the cause of a resolution because, inherently, people are setting
apart their differences and coming together into a nation. In the process of building a unified
nation, a unified language must appear as well. Smith (1998), argues that the unification of
language, for example, is a political act as well as a waract as long as it oppresses local identities
and this may be a cause of conflict. The process of unification can be a war act as Smith states
because you are being conquered. Your language and identity are being stripped off you and that
can cause confrontation. However, the same unification process has a self implication of bringing
together places that were once separated for different reasons which constitutes a conflict resolution
method. People are putting aside their differences in order to have a nation. The differences donВґt
disappear but a new rhetoric about... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When we think of a conflict there must be at least two opposing sides. Nationalism is a way of
making this problem between two parties one that involves two complete countries. The individual
differences disappear and the problem is now a binary one with extreme opposing sides, each being
the whole people of each country as they are united under nationalism. Language in nationalism also
lets us trace the border between two communities, language marks out a community because it is
the primary means of communication (Smith, 1998, 28). International conflicts can arise because
of this impossibility to communicate effectively and the division this creates. So, language in
nationalism contributes to conflicts because it creates the difference between the opposing sides
and makes the conflict one that involves all the

South Korean War Analysis
On September 28, 1950, the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Australian Regiment arrived in Pusan,
South Korea in what would be Australia s major contribution in the war effort against invading
forces from the north of the Korean peninsula, to the Korean People s Army (KPA). Following
Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies endorsement of UNSC Resolution 82, this would see the
beginning of a three year conflict in which Australia would commit 17,000 troops and suffer over
300 fatalities, only five years after the end of the Second World War, (AWM, 2016) . In what was
predicated as Australia s commitment to providing peacekeeping troops for the United Nations to
preserve the freedom of South Koreans, the Korean War would eventually play a fundamental role
in solidifying Australia s shift in vital military alliances, in particular the post WWII development
of the United Statesin surpassing the United Kingdom as a key protector of Australia.

Comparison Of Two Occupations, Social Work And Skills,...
Compare and Contrast Two Occupations
Final Interview Paper
Occupations require a myriad of skills, training, and requirements. The personality and talents of
individuals can guide them into their choosing a profession. For example, someone who is an
accountant may prefer little interaction with others and for information to be very precise in every
situation. Compare that to a therapist whom interacts with people daily and no two situations are
the same or precise. I am going to compare two professions, Social Workversus Information
Technology, to explore the similarities and differences in these two occupations.
Social Worker
Social Work is defined as, The professional activity of helping individuals, groups, or
communities enhance or restore their capacity for social functional and creating societal
conditions favorable to this goal. Social work practice consists of the professional application of
social work values, principles, and techniques (Coyle, 2014, p. 6). Social Workers can act as
mediators, negotiators, educators, and advocators just to name a few of the roles they play. They
follow a written Code of Ethics that guide their professional judgement and practice. Some job
titles used for Social Workers are Mental Health Counselor, Child Advocate, Adoption Specialist,
Human Rights Representative, Healthcare Social Worker, and School Social Worker.

Q1: What is Edelstein s research questionпјџ
A: What is the reason of success and failures of military occupationsпјџ
Q2: What is the thing that is being explained in Edelstein s analysis?
A: He basically explained why some occupations last long enough to succeed while others failed
in the end. And in his analysis, he also made several points to support his opinion, which are as
follows: (1) In his analysis he explained how to code a military occupation as a success or a failure
It s basically measured by looking at the long term balance of interests gained by the occupying
power and the cost they paid out.

So in order to succeed, occupiers must both maintain their interests and convince the occupied
population to accept their long term occupations. And in order to make this possible, potential
occupying power should know three points. First of all, the need for occupation, commonly
perceived external threats, and credible guarantees are both the causes and the effects of
occupation success; Second, clear goals should be established and occupiers should be trained to
be ready for occupations; Third, great powers should anticipate the possibility of occupation and
take their responsibility to act before engaging into war.
Q4: How does Edelstein narrow down his research question to specific empirical questions?
A: In this article Edelstein first focused on the basics of occupations, dividing them into different
kinds, and gave metrics for success and failure of military occupations. After that he explained the
reason of success in military occupations and showed the dilemma that failing occupying power
would face, and then gave a conclusion to his theory, after all that, he narrow down his research by
using his conclusions and theory to discuss the implications of the argument for the current
occupation of Iraq and future potential

Catherine De Medici Influence On Ballet
Ballet is a formalized and elegant form of dance with a fitting origin that traces back to Italian
Renaissance courts during the 15th and 16th centuries. This style of dance quickly spread from
Italy to France with the assistance of the aristocratic influence that came from Catherine de Medici,
who succeeded in helping balletdevelop even further. For example, Catherine helped develop
ballet further by having her own piece of work, Le Paradis d Amour , be presented at her
daughters wedding, where Marguerite de Valois was wedded to Henry of Navarre. Naturally, with
ballet having an aristocratic background, aristocratic money was responsible for the dancestyles
initial stages of development in court ballet. Royalty was what dictated the literature, music, and
ideas that was incorporated into ballet at the time. Ballet was also used as a prime source of

Max Weber’s and Mircea Eliade’s Disagreement with...
Karl Marx, Emile Durkheim, and Sigmund Freud were intelligent theorists that tried to reduce
religion to simple explanations. Marx explained religion as a phenomenon created by economic
position meant to give reason to people s social economic position and thus provide them
satisfaction, while they are promised salvation in paradise. Durkheim reduced religionas something
created by the social interaction of people, thus making religion a social phenomenon, in which
people interact and have rites. Freud, on the other hand, explained religion as being neurotic due
to people s obsession with security alongside the father. All in all, these three theorists attempted
to reduce religion to its basic elements, which they later used to explain primitive life, and the
reason for the continuity of religion in modern life. However, Mircea Eliade and Max Weber did
not agree with the views. Weber and Eliade determined that the reductionist view did not give
enough insight into religion, because they focused on primitive culture to say what religion was,
information was confined to only western civilization, and in Freud s case religion was neurotic.
Thus, Weber and Eliade rejected the reductionist views of Durkheim, Marx, and Freud.
In Max Weber s refute of the three reductionists his ideal types point of view is applicable, which
are formalized general categories. The meaning behind the ideal types is that they helped to create
a framework, by which cases can be brought into an

Barbara Ehrenreich s Nickel And Dimed
Several things can influence how a person performs: gender, race, and even class. In a sense,
class could be considered the easiest thing to perform, and can also change the quickest. Nothing
needs to be drastically, physically changed in order to perform a different class than the one a
person is a part of. However, performing up or down in class takes a lot of effort. When someone
performs up in class, they were persecuted and looked down upon compared to someone who
performs down. By using the excerpt Serving in Florida from Nickel and Dimed by Barbara
Ehrenreichand the play, Six Degrees of Separation, by John Guare, we see how performing
different classes than the one each person is a part affect themselves and those around them In
Barbara Ehrenreich s Nickel and Dimed, Barbara went undercover to perform and learn about a
class that was not her own. Although it was for only a month, Barbara struggled to keep up the
effort and survive in a lower class than she was accustomed to. Even so, her co workers and the
people she met along the way did not realize she was performing down in her class. Maybe this
was because the people she surrounded herself with were also in similar class situations where
the fight to survive was more difficult, not allowing much space in thoughts for other people s life
stories. In Six Degrees of Separation, Paul performed up in class in search of friendship and
acceptance. Paul s performances, in terms of race, is cynical,

of 1832 was a hostile conflict between the state of South Carolina and the United States government
over the controversial concept of Nullification. Although the crisis concluded without a physical
war or casualties, the impact of the tensions created from the Nullification Crisiswould leave a
lasting mark on the unsteady nation and highlight the problems rising throughout the country.
Occurring during the presidency of contentious American president Andrew Jacksonand his fiery

Lack Of News Coverage In The United States
Journalism in America is one of the biggest and most important industries our country has.
Usually it keeps one up to date with many things that are going on in society. However, recently
America has faced a downfall in the reporting of foreign news. As Americans there is a need for
an increased amount of foreign coverage because there are many worldly issues we must know
about, news networks are beginning to focus only on the everyday life of Americans, and the
internet (specifically, social media) is slowly taking away the reality and realness of international
news.
The United States is a country that is heavily involved in the affairs of other countries. It is
important that international news coverage stays as relevant as any other news because of how
much the United States is involved. Goodman shares, with hundreds of thousands of Americans
deployed...domestic politics grappled with the merits and consequences of a global war on terror

Goodman adds, news of the world is becoming more relevant to the day to day experiences of
American readers and it is rapidly disappearing . Due to the lack of foreign news coverage, news
is becoming American based. This is very dangerous because not only does it confine news
organizations to basic and perfunctory stories it blinds Americans to what is really going on in the
world. For example, an American who watches their local news will know about what school just
opened in their neighborhood but nothing about a school that was burned down in a neighboring
country. By limiting foreign news coverage Americans are selfishly hindering themselves from
gaining important knowledge about what is going on around

Zora Neale Hurston Essay
On March 21, 1924, the National Urban League, spearheaded by Charles Johnson, held a dinner
to introduce new literary talent to New York City s black community. This dinner party resulted
in the Survey Graphic, a magazine whose attention was upon social and cultural pluralism, to
publish a special Harlem edition, which would feature the works of Harlem s black writers and
was to be edited by Alain Locke. Locke, a literary scholar, black philosopher, professor and
authority on black culture, later expanded the Harlem special edition of the Survey Graphic into
and anthology he titled The New Negro. Soon, the very cultural movement Survey Graphic hoped
to shine light upon would be recognized as the New Negro Movement but later this... Show more

At the age of three John Hurston moved the family to Eatonville, where he would become mayor
of the small town of 125. Eatonville was like no other town in the United States during the last
years of the Nineteenth century (Hemenway). In 1863, Eatonville was one of the first all black
towns to be chartered after the emancipation proclamation and in 1887 was the first of these
towns to be incorporated. Her childhood here shaped her ideas and reality and, as would later be
seen in her writing, would shape her views on race. The wonderful life in utopian Eatonville was
lost after the death of her mother in 1904, which led the young Zora Neale Hurston away from the
halls of academics and into domestics. Her father quickly remarried a woman that Hurston did
not like and had left the household at age 14, first caring after her brother s children and later as
a domestic servant in Baltimore. It was here in Baltimore where Hurston reentered academia,
enrolling in the Morgan Academy, a High School operated by what is now Morgan State
University. Upon graduation, Hurston enrolled at Howard University in Washington where
Hurston s life would forever be changed. It was at Howard University in 1918 where she met a
young Alain Locke who further inspired her strong pride in black heritage and also inspired her to
pursue a literary career.
In 1921, Hurston published her first short story, John

The Seven Year Itch Analysis
On February 25th I attended Valencia s theater production of The Seven Year Itch. It took place
at Valencia s East campus in the Black Box theater. It started at 7:30pm and lasted about two
hours with a fifth teen minute intermission. I selected this event because it was a requirement for
my intro to theater class, and also I enjoy theater. I brought with me notes and paper so I could
write down my thoughts on it. It ended up being too dark and I used my phone instead. I tried to
keep what it was exactly about out of my mind. I wanted to go into it with an open mind. The
lightening evoked flask backs. I personally enjoyed how the lighting was done. I could clearly
separate from what was current and what was in the character past or thoughts.

The Reality Of The Television
That confusion made the audience take the broadcast seriously, and therefore caused mass
hysteria. Multiple newspapers from the time reported of people rushing the streets and calling
into their local police stations asking about the alien invasion. One firsthand account even states
that a couple drove out to the tall timbers in Oregon, turned off the car and just sat there. They
wanted their final moments to be together in silence. People actually believed it was happening.
(American Experience, 2015) Welles had done it. He tapped into the American psyche, and

didn t stop at that night in 1938. Intact, through that broadcast, Welles found himself in
Hollywood signing a contract with a multiple film deal with RKO Pictures. ( Bogdanovich, 1992)
Welles s contract had one clause that is still rare in Hollywood today, the full creative control
clause. Basically, what that means is that RKO guaranteed Welles full control over the films he
chose to make, RKO had to release whatever Welles gave them. Welles used this opportunity to
voice his opinion of a massive tycoon at the time, William Randolph Hearst. Hearst was a business
man that owned the majority of the newspapers in the country. Any story that he didn t want to be

The Effect Of Light Intensity On Jubilee Park
Claudelands bush. Jubilee park is a 5.2 hectare Kahikatea forest, remains of a much bigger semi

the forest. The main factor which affects the stratification within the forest is light intensity.
Stratification is the formation of layers in which trees/plants form in certain environments e.g:
Forests. I predict that trees/plants higher up in the forest (e.g: canopy layer) will receive more
sunlight compared to those on the forest floor or shrub layer. The two plants I will be investigating

Comparing The Whole Truth And Nothing But The Truth
The Whole Truth and Nothing but the Truth When a parent thinks about protecting their child, they
may not consider protecting their child from the invalid information that is being taught in schools
across the nation. There are many factors that go into publishing an academic textbook, but many of
these factors rely solely in the political roots of the publisher. Textbookstoday aim to impress
children with vivid images and information that is easily understood and related to. Leaving out
vital historical information from a curriculum could harm a student severely in the long run. The
thoughts and beliefs that a person constructs are based on prior knowledge and personal
experiences so leaving information about the past is robbing a student the right to understand our
country. Adjustments are certainly needed to be made in the approach of teaching crucial historical
information throughout the nations classrooms. These adjustments would ensure that generations
to come are not doomed to repeat the mistakes made by past century political figures. This essay is
sure to intrigue by deliberating the skewed information covered in academic textbooks, the way
Columbus is taught in schools, and the deception of the severity of global climatechange. Thinking
about how people with power control the potential knowledge of children in classrooms today could
really leave a person wondering what other skeletons the government has in their honorable closet.

Informative Essay On Mexican Food
A lot of Americans think they know Mexican food. An occasional trip down to Taco Bell,
Chipotle or Baja Fresh is the limit of most people s education. Why go any further? What is there
to know beyond nachos drizzled with cheese and jalapenos, tacos soaked full of beef and sour
cream and burritos, approaching the size of infant children, stuffed full of pork and cooked in a
deep fryer? Sadly, calling this Mexican food is a bit more than just a stretch. It s pretty much an
embellishment from top to bottom. Do you honestly think most Mexicans eat this type of cuisine
that Americans flock towards?
Authentic Mexican cuisine shares similar roots to much of the Mexican American and Tex Mex

The Gay Liberation Movement Of Manhattan, New York City
On June 28, 1969, the Gay Liberation Movement was sparked due to the Stonewall Riot in
Manhattan, New York City, (History.com Staff). The Stonewall was a gay club located in New
York City. It was often regulated and harassed by police officers but one day the LGBT decided to
stand up for themselves and fight back. Although the police were legally justified in raiding the
club, which was serving liquor without a license among other violations, New York s gay
community had grown weary of the police department targeting gay clubs, a majority of which
had already been closed. The crowd on the street watched quietly as Stonewall s employees were
arrested, but when three drag queens and a lesbian were forced into the paddy wagon, the crowd
began throwing bottles at the police. The officers were forced to take shelter inside the
establishment, and two policemen were slightly injured before reinforcements arrived to disperse
the mob. The protest, however, spilled over into the neighboring streets, and order was not
restored until the deployment of New York s riot police. The raid on the Stonewall Inn lead to
many riots and created an uproar from the LGBTcommunity, (Teal). The Stonewall Riot was
followed by several days of demonstrations in New York and was the impetus for the formation of
the Gay LiberationFront as well as other gay, lesbian, and bisexual civil rights organizations. It is

Workforce Flexibility
Topic: Flexibility within the workforce is essential to maintain a competitive advantage. Discuss
this statement with reference to an organization of your choice 1. Introduction:
Human resource is one of the most important factors that decides the survival and success of a

frequently during time to adapt to the continuous changes in external environment. The external

The first definition mentions external environment to adapt. The second one declares the
maximization of productivity. Both are important points. By combining the two definitions, the
fullest meaning about workforce flexibility and its advantages will be drawn out.
3. Model explanation: Figure 1 Atkinson model workforce flexibility
To reflect the workforce flexibility, Atkinson (1894) came up with the model which also
comprises ways in which flexibility can be shown. Flexibility can be seen on part time jobs. This
is applied for many employees being students at school in both Vietnam and other countries. This
kind of employee need time for studying and still consider them to be able to contribute to labor
force for extra money. Part time job is one of the choices when employers only have to spend
fewer hours compared to full time jobs of working (Dutta, n.d). Or employees can seek for job
sharing workplace in which 2 people share the same job/task. Job sharing is basically a form of part
time work that provides staff with the equivalent of one full time employee while giving the job
sharing employees the ability to keep their careers on track while allowing more time for family
responsibilities or other activities (Entrepreneur, n.d). Working under these kinds of jobs gives
employees enough time to balance all their commitments. In other words,

Renaissance Music Compared To The Modern Era
Another comparison that can be made to the modern era and Renaissance Europe is the field of
music. Music has always been a part of the history and served as a form of entertainment for a
long time. In early Renaissance Europe, wealthy merchants were able to educate their family in the
arts and music. Women from rich families were also involved in music. Music in early renaissance
was created in a way to sooth the listener s ears. Music with vocals was predominant and composers
documented music for certain instruments. Events that led to changes from 1400 to 1600
(Arkenberg, 2002) led to the major shift in the styles making music, ways of distributing music, neo
musical genres and the creation of instrument used in making music. The early Renaissance

This is no mystery or surprise. The creature, which has long been the topic of numerous studies
and experiments, is still a source of great mystery. Why in the world does a shark need to grow

taught us in elementary school that a shark might use over 20,000 teeth in its lifetime. If one
falls out, another replaces it. Say what you may about the special effects in Jaws, those teeth
look real and they will eat your face off. So, therefore the movie was so successful. Because of
the productions ability to create a mechanical shark that is similar in anatomy and identical to

You Just Don Y Understand
You Just Don t Understand by Deborah Tannen, Ph.D.
William Morrow and Company, 1990

That men and women are on different wavelengths when it comes to communicating is probably
not news to you. However, Can We Talk? the cover story of the December issue of New Age
Journal, provides some excellent new perspectives on this age old problem. The author, Peggy
Taylor, interviewed sociolinguist Deborah Tannen, who has written a book called You Just Don t
Understand: Women and Men in Conversation. Tannen s research shows that the differences
between the communication styles of men and women go far beyond mere socialization, and
appear to be inherent in the basic make up of each sex.
Tannen first noticed these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The woman begins to feel that her man doesn t care about her because he won t talk to her in a way
that feels intimate.
It is important for women to understand that men s communicating is all about status. Think
about all those nature shows you ve ever seen on PBS. The prime goal of male beasties is to be
able to mate; to do this they must be powerful enough to challenge the lead males in the herd. As
they grow up, they bide their time by establishing a pecking order. When a beastie is big and
strong enough to have most of the other males under him, he is ready to take on the old man. If he
wins the fight, he gets to mate with the females of his choice (and they will mate only with him).
Tannen has found that human males behave in exactly the same way. She discussed the research
of Marjorie Goodwin, who studied boys in Philadelphia for a year and a half. She found that boys
give orders as a way of gaining social status. The high status boys gave orders just to maintain their
dominance, not because they particularly needed the thing done. And the boys who were being told
what to do were low status, by virtue of doing what they were told.
This dynamic is important to remember when looking at another major area of miscommunication
between men and women. Women cannot understand the resistance men seem to have when asked
for assistance or consideration of some kind or another. Women must remember the above scenario
and understand that, for men, doing what they

The Market For Sensitivity Toothpaste
The market for sensitivity toothpaste is not completely tapped by the producers of sensitivity
toothpaste. In urban market (Tier 1 2) have a higher awareness of tooth sensitivity issue and
account for about 80% according to dentists. Of those 80% not everyone uses sensitive
toothpaste. Also, the 20% of those not aware are also a potential target for future customers.
Which provides for a credible market in the urban cities for CP to target. The other major reason
to target the sensitivity market is the rural population (Tier3 6). Majority population falls in this
category and sensitivity issue accounts for 25% of the people. This market segment has not yet
been targeted by other competitors and provides CP with an opportunity to target in the future.
CP will have to evaluate the positioning for each segment to determine how to target the
segment. Positioning is the mental picture that people have about a company and its products or
services relative to competitors (Grewal, 2014, p 234). In order to develop the positioning it is
important to have a positioning statement. It expresses how a company wants to be perceived by
consumers (Grewal, 2014, p 234). CP statement has been clear in India for a number of years. It
has used statements such as India s No. 1 Brand or India s No.1 Most Trusted Brand. While in the

Annie Get Your Gun By Ethel Merman And Ray Middleton
Anything you do, I can do better; I can do anything, better than you , in Annie Get Your Gun
performed by Ethel Merman and Ray Middleton, is one of many examples that are still battled
today on the topic of gender roles playing essentially to modern society. Historically, the
relationship between female and male has almost always been unequal and oppressive; but, a
feminist critic would aim to critique the nature of genderroles. In a feminist theory, it mainly focuses
women s role as well as their social standing in a society. In today s society, women empower
society to promote matriarchy whereas a female becomes the head of the family. Since the
nineteenth century up until today in the twenty first century, society has made assumptions about
female based on their gender. For instance, people often assume that men are strong and women are
weak and that women cannot control their emotions, and that men are better at hunting, and that
women belong in the kitchen. Oftentimes, books and movies can confirm such stereotypes of
males as action heroes and women as housewives; however, through the characters of Katniss and
Peeta in The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins tries to show her readers that these assumptions are
false.
Moreover, Katniss is an individual who breaks away from the typical gender stereotypes that one
would assume while reading. In fact, showing her feminine side to readers, Katniss is simply a
nurturer because of how she takes care of others like Rue and Peeta

Outlook
There is a bright future for the sport boat industry; the market as a whole is expected to grow in
the near future. In 2006 the sport boat market had a total value of $6.9 billion; that value has
climbed by 9.3% each year, and that trend is expected to continue for the next 3 years. This
means that the sport boat market will be worth $10.1 billion by 2014. This industry rebound is
dependent upon the recovery of the market and a general change in attitude of banks to lend
more money for boat purchases. In addition to this overall market growth and economic recovery,
we can expect sport boat sales to increase due to an increase in the number of boat purchasers. As
the baby boomers reach retirement age, the number of boats sold can be expected to increase
causing the overall market to increase at a rate greater than the expected 9.3%. With this explosion
in the sport boat market, positive economic activity, and the increased willingness of banks to grant
loans, it is expected that the sport boat market will expand beyond all future expectations.4

Equine Nutrition
Equine Nutrition The digestive system of the horse consists of a simple stomach, small intestines,
cecum, large and small colons, rectum and anus. The horse s stomach is comparatively small for
its size. The stomach of an average horse has a holding capacity of about two gallons. This may be
the reason horses eat small but frequent meals. From the stomach food moves to the small intestine,
which is the main site of digestion. The small intestine empties into the cecum. The cecum; along
with the large colon; make up the large intestine. Digestion in the large intestine occurs by action
of bacteria and protozoa. (arg.gov.sk.ca) The energy content found in feeds and how it is measured

Adults need calcium and phosphorous to maintain cell function and bone mineral.
(arg.gov.sk.ca) Micro minerals or trace minerals required by horses include Iodine, Copper,
Zinc, manganese and selenium. Horses use Iodine for fetal development and to regulate
metabolism. inadequate iodine intake in pregnancy can cause serious fetal abnormalities. Foals
may be born weak, may not suckle or stand. Thyroid glands can be enlarged (goiter) or normal.
Rarely, foals are born hairless or may have ruptured extensor tendons and swollen joints. Iodine
deficient newborns may be more prone to infections. Iodine deficient mares may or may not
have goiter, a longer gestation and retained placentas. Iodine deficiency can be prevented by
feeding iodized salt. Goiter is also a sign of too much iodine or iodine toxicity. (arg.gov.sk.ca)
Copper has been promoted as a bone disease preventative as horses use copper in bone, cartilage,
and pigment formation. Lack of iron can cause anemia but is maor likely to arise from blood
loss due to internal parasites. Iron dextran used to treat baby pig anemia must not be given to
horses since fatal, allergic reactions can occur. (arg.gov.sk.ca) Conditions such as muscle pain or
skin irritation were associated with low serum levels of selenium or zinc. (Wichert et al.)
Deficiencies may cause hair loss and poor wound healing. Low intakes of selenium cause white

Tim Elam Dinosaurs
Tim Elam along with his partner, Travis Bibee, entertained us with a fascinating presentation on
dinosaurs. It was quite amusing to watch him through it. The jokes were absolutely dad jokes
which I believe keep you focused on the topic. They went over dinosaurs characteristics,
aesthetically and anatomically and they also spoke about who created the names of the fossils and
creatures. Tim Elam informed us about dinosaurs being similar worldwide, with evidence of fossils,
because the land was one at that time. Through time and division of land they began to adapt and
change slightly. They spoke about saurischian versus ornithischian. There are various different
between these two orders but the most distinguishable ones are the hips.

Major Field Delay In Major League Baseball
These new rules eliminate some of the major field delays, or at least they shorten them. The no
pitch intentional walks eliminate some of the hectic wild pitches or a batter swinging at a low
ball. Instead, team managers will just notify the umpires when a walk is the desired outcome,
thus bypassing all the in between. This is something that will overall save a lot of time, but it
will also face the loss of some excitement (Shaheen). Challenges on calls is one of the things that
causes a lot of delays when it comes to the Major Leagues. This season starts a time limit for
managers to call replays and challenges to a call. They now only have 30 seconds to decide to
challenge and replay after a call is made, and there is now a two minute time... Show more content

One of the biggest being starting in extra innings a runner will be placed on second base,
increasing the possibility for the batting team to score in the given inning. This rule was thought
up after countless games going into extra innings. Most notably the game between the Boston
Red Sox and the New York Yankees, in 2015, where this game went into 19 innings, lasting well
over six hours. There are still so many games per season that go into extra innings, most of which
stay between 10 and 13, there are still the freak games that happen that get its way up to 19
innings. With each extra inning adding an average of twenty minutes onto the game time, it
becomes an extremely drawn out game (Kopf). Dan Kopf discusses in his article Major League
Baseball Is Testing a Rule to Start Extra Innings with a Runner on Second , that the chances with
a player added on second base in ending the given innings a tie decrease by about 10 percent,
which when it comes down to it, is a pretty big percentage, and really anything helps when it is
already a 10 or 11 inning game. With this addition, though, the average game time will not be
affected, the average extra innings game time will, and will definitely speed up the time with a
player already in scoring position (Kopf). Not only will it affect the game time but it will also be
better for the teams and the players. If a game goes into extra innings there is the probability of
running out of able pitchers, so a manager would either have to use pitchers that are tired, and have
the possibility of them hurting themselves or pull utility players to pitch, which really is not ideal

Smart Technology And Student Learning
11. I used many different resources, including technology, to enhance student learning. This was
done through Smart technology allowing my students to go on a virtual fieldtrip. They were able to
learn more about the three environments and the types of animals that live in those environments.
12. During this lesson today, my students exhibited behaviors that showed me they were engaged.
They listened to the expectations well and did exactly what I requested of them to do. They were
actively listening and participating during the station time.
13.I was able to see that the students were focusing, responding, asking questions, volunteering, etc.
throughout the lesson. I also gave formative assessments throughout the lesson as well as a final
assessment. One example of a student s response would be when my students were participating in
small group discussions with peers. I went to the station this student was at and asked the student
how they knew what animals belonged in the desert environment. This student was able to
articulate a response to me which demonstrated learning. Additionally, I did interviews with the
students as a formative assessment. The final assessment took place when the students participated
in the SmartBoard matching activity at the end of the lesson.
14. There were different ways I planned and managed my time and routines such as transitions and
pacing so that instructional time was maximized. First of all, my class is familiar with transitioning

The Inferno By Dante Alighieri
Inferno by Dante Alighieri is beautifully woven to reflect the realities or unrealities of the time.
The various circles of hell are used by the Florentine writer Dante, to tell the tale in a structured
and elaborate manner, with the use of nine circles of the Inferno (Havely, 374). Interesting,
however, is the manner in which Dante describes the characters, as they are seen to be facing
tragedies in their life in hell. The author of this medieval text categorizes the different types of sins
that people can commit and subjects the characters to various punishments; each is in a separate
circle in hell. Lawall opines that the writer uses a style that makes the reader envision themselves in
the poem (Lawall, 17). The infamous guide of Dante the character is none other than Virgilthe poet,
and being born before the time of Christ, places him in the category of a virtuous pagan , who is in
a matter of speaking, lost and without hope in Inferno, but not without safety that the author
bestows as homage to Virgil (Alighieri, 1028). With the various messages of political strife and
religious tension seeping throughout the text of the Inferno, it is clear to see that a couple who
faces a tragic situation that has no ending is Paolo and Francesca. In so doing, the author subjects
this adulterous couple to relatively tragic states even though they appear to possess incredible
beauty in character, personality and intellect. The journey through hell is as a result of Dante

Essay on The Water Shortage in Australia
The Water Shortage in Australia First of all it is necessary to define what the term water shortage
means. For some people, it means having to constantly traverse long distances just to reach a
source of fresh water and to collect it. For others, water shortage means to content themselves with
water only for a part of day. And finally, there are some regions in which people suffer from
droughts that lead to a great amount of deaths. Therefore, in modern world problem with deficiency
in fresh water has become burning question, which needed immediate solution. According to Peter
Rogers, it is not right to consider that providing drinking water is problem that affects only
developing nations with dense population. It is easy to see... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In support of this data she says that our society is moving rapidly into urban areas, and, as a
result, we re experiencing more and more water shortage problems . (Clarke, 2013) As already
mentioned, another problem, which has considerable influence on this situation, is climate
change. It is generally known, that climate is closely related with local rainfall and water
availability. Peter Rogers claims that surveys, which investigate the effects of climate change
on water availability by 2025 display that it will bring scarcity to loads of places. It is expected
that climate change will exacerbate aridity and reduce supply in many regions, which lead to
droughts. (Rogers, 2008) It came to the Mighty Murray , one of the Australia s major river, is
on the verge of collapse: in some places, children can jump over it. (Water Use, 2011) One more
reason for existing situation is irrational waste of water. If we want to find an adequate solution to
this problem, we must try to define how much freshwater each person requires and what factors
impede supply and increase demand. Malin Falkenmark estimates that each person in the world
needs approximately 1,000 cubic meters of freshwater per year. This number includes water for
drinking, growing food, hygiene and sanitation (Rogers, 2008). One of the possible solutions

(Insert Title) In a decade that will be surely known as one of grand feminist success it seems
worthwhile mentioning that prostitution is a new feminist issue. According to Women Have the
Rights many sex workers and feminist activists see the decriminalization of prostitution as a human
rights initiative for women to regain control over their bodies. These third wave feminists find sex
an issue that should be more widely discussed. Large leaps in pornography such as female
filmmakers and feminist porn stars point to an ideal that consensual sex work is just another fore
front in the battle for gender equality. Legalization of prostitution leads to more government

Prostitution flourishes in territories that have a high crime rate, along these lines, cops and
courts are overburdened with these cases, having next to zero effect on prostitution. The sex
workers and their clients pay their fines and are back to the boulevards right away in a rotating
door process. Law enforcement is occupied with adding prostitution to the rundown of things to
shield us from, the genuine violations go unchecked and unchallenged. Not with standing if
prostitution were legitimate, police would have less work attempting to dispose of prostitution
and additional time shielding people from far more heinous crimes. It is estimated that if
prostitution were legalized in the United States, the rape rate would decrease by roughly 25% for
a decrease of approximately 25,000 rapes per year. The analysis seems to support that the rape rate
could be lowered if prostitution was more readily available. This would be accomplished in most
countries by its legalization (Sexual Violence Such as Rape). On the off chance that prostitution
ends up distinctly lawful, it must be directed for the wellbeing of the worker and customer. Since
prostitution is illicit it has been

Teeth of children are important because they can tell us how fast they took to mature.
The teeth of the Neanderthal child from Scladina tells us that according to our current maturation
rate, it would have been around 11 or 12 years old. They assume this based off the eruption pattern
of the teeth. When they look further into the internal structures it shows that the child is actually a

On average humans produce around 4.3 pounds of trash per day ( Municipal Solid Waste ). With
7 billion people and counting the amount of trash being generated is increasing ( United States

Landfills are man made structures that are carefully designed to separate trash, we produce, from
other land areas. These structures are made so that the trash and the byproducts of it do not
contaminate groundwater or the environment around it ( Learn about Landfills ). Some ways that
individuals can reduce the amount of trash that ends up in landfills is to recycle, donate, reduce

Then around 1978 Love Canal exploded after heavy rainfalls that produced methane gas, a highly
explosive compound. After years of depositing waste in the canal, it found its way out into the
environment. In the Love Canal community puddles of chemicals could be seen throughout the
neighborhood; they were in backyards, on school grounds, and in the residents basements. The
children of Love Canal would come back to their homes from playing with chemical burns on
their bodies. Beck, author of The Love Canal Tragedy, described the air as having a choking smell

toxic substances were strong enough to kill the environment. Not only did it harm the residents

  • 2. The Amusement Park Six Flags New England The legendary amusement park Six Flags New England is situated in Western Massachusetts in the city of Agawam, Massachusetts, and has been running since 1870. During this time, it was originally an ordinary picnic with a cluster of trees named Gallup s Grove. Subsequently, the park replaced its name with Riverside, and has had its name of Riverside for the majority of the entire period of the 1900s. One famous event, known as The 1929 Wall Street Crash, then had an unfortunate effect on the amusement park, and as a result, the amusement park shut down in 1939 after countless efforts to reestablish the amusement park. After the Wall Street Crash, Edward Carroll Senior made history when made an investment and paid for the amusement park, and developed the amusement park into a notable success in New England. After a century of the amusement park being known as Riverside, it then changed its name to Six FlagsNew England in 2000. This amusement park has various rides with a maximum amount of thrill which have customers at the edge of their seats, less thrilling rides which are excellent for just sitting back and enjoying themselves without all the maximized thrill, eating, entertainment, and shopping for relaxing from all the exciting rides and taking it easy, and Hurricane Harbor to cool you off in the summer and Fright Fest to terrorize and startle you during Halloween. • 4. Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream Hermia s speech in Act 2, Scene 2, of Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream, contains an abundance of dream imagery. She has awoken from a terrible dream after falling asleep in the forest with Lysander. They were lost and tired so they decided to rest. Lysander wanted to sleep beside her but, she refused since they are not yet married and while they slept Puck applied a love potion on Lysander s eyes thinking he was Demetrius. Lysander wakes and is repulsed by the sight of Hermia and never wants to see her again because he is now in love with Helena. Hermia awakes from her terrible dream and retells it thinking that Lysander is nearby listening. Then she realizes that he is not there and she does not see him anywhere. Hermia expresses the sentiment that she will find Lysander or she will surely die. She stated, Help me, Lysander, help me! do thy best To pluck this crawling serpent from my breast! Ay me, for pity! what a dream was here! Lysander, look how I do quake with fear: Methought a serpent eat my heart away, And you sat smiling at his cruel pray. Lysander! what, removed? Lysander! lord! • 5. Metentialism In Robert Frost s The Five People You Meet... It is when individuals overcome their differences and become viewed from different perspectives. This can offer new understandings and perceptions of ourselves and others. This is explored through Robert Frost s poetry including his poem Mending Wall and The Tuft of Flowers . Frost explores different perceptions of society in his time through his connections with nature and his personal life. This is also reflected through Mitch Albom s novel, The Five People You Meet in Heaven as the protagonist, Eddie experiences death and meets the five people who have influenced or he has influenced throughout his life. In Frost s poem Mending Wall , was written just months before World War I was declared. Also, political tensions between European countries were rising, it is through Frost s poetry where intellectual discoveries are uncovered. The persona of the poem meets with his neighbour to fix a wall between their properties. we meet to walk the line and set the wall between us once again . Frost utilises elements of irony to convey how the only time the persona and the neighbour meet, which is to rebuild the wall; the wall that keeps them apart. The persona comes to the first physical discovery of the usefulness of the wall itself, We do not need the wall: He is all pine and I am apple orchard which is metaphorical for the personalities of the two individuals presented. The neighbour, all pine is about practicality and being discrete whilst the persona is presented as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. St. Edmond Parish Case Summary St. Edmond s Catholic Church A diocese is a district under the pastoral care of a bishop in the Christian Church. St. Edmond Church is located within The Diocese of Lafayette. The Diocese of Lafayette is made up of 121 church parishes. It was established in 1918 when it was separated from the Archdiocese of New Orleans and created as its own. St. Edmond Catholic Church has been a diocesan parish since 1974. In 1974 Bishop Gerald L. Frey served as the Bishop of the Diocese of Lafayette. As the Lafayette and surrounding areas grew, so did the need for a new church parish. The first priests assigned to this newly developed parish were Father Thomas C. Dowling and Father Patrick Mallinson. There was no formal house of worship constructed, so masses were held in the Villa Maria Apartment Complex. Masses were offered at five different times on the weekend. As more Catholics began attending, the need for a new place to offer the Eucharist grew larger weekly. It was in 1974 that the Lafayette School Board allowed the two priests to use the cafeteria at the Prairie Elementary School as a temporary church until the diocese could find or construct a building. ... • 7. Biometrics Essay Biometrics Biometrics is described as the use of human physical features to verify identity and has been in use since the beginning of recorded history. Only recently, biometrics has been used in today s high tech society for the prevention of identity theft. In this paper, we will be understanding biometrics, exploring the history of biometrics, examples of today s current technology and where biometrics are expected to go in the future. By definition, biometrics (Woodward, Orlans, and Higgins, 2003) is the science of using biological properties to identify individuals; for example, fingerprints, retina scans, and voice recognition. US patent for iris recognition expires. Biometrics began with the inking of the fingers and feet and pressing those inked parts onto paper. Today, law enforcement agencies are able to utilize biometric tools on the molecular level to pinpoint criminals when no other evidence exists. In between these two extremes fall a whole range of techniques used for identification. The most basic of the techniques is the fingerprint and palm recognition. These methods, while strong, still have their weaknesses. This led to looking for next level of identification just under the skin by mapping the vascular structure of a person s hand. Each person has a unique, intricate pattern of blood vessels that is virtually impossible to replicate since blood vessels have to be grown and cannot constructed. Another method of biometric identification is through dental records. Dental records are commonly used to identify a human by comparing the dental features (i.e., tooth size and placement, dental work, oral injuries, etc.) and whose identity cannot be determined through conventional means. Such situations would include a person who s been burn, been dismembered, or has severely decomposed. This method of identification has taken on such an important role that Disaster Dental Identification Teams have been developed to assist with identification following disaster situations. ... It is unclear why she writes so much about death because she had not experienced death close to her when she was writing. Dillard was born in 1945, a very important year in America. She was born on the exact day Hitler killed himself. Just days after, World War II ended on May 8th. Dillard grew up in a time of economic prosperity. The planet had recently been bombarded by the Grandmaster s forces, and the kiffar had decided it would be a good place to visit due to his own nature. As a scar in the force Tisto had to move around every so often so he wouldn t lead Inquisitors to the Knights of Allusis and Clan Odan Urr. He moved through the arena, his leather jacket pushed around by the wind. *Clack* Tisto turned around quickly, grabbing his saber off his belt. Behind him stood a tall man with a blindfold wrapped around his head. The mans robes billowed out from behind him, pushed by the wind. Tisto eyed the man suspiciously, not ever having seen him before. The miraluka Talis looked back at Tisto unsure what to make of him. He recognized the Knight Commander from when he was Knighted after New Tython was bombarded, but just like then he was put off by the Knight Commanders appearance. • 10. The Importance Of Doping In Sports Doping in sport has been prominent since the Olympics were first introduced in Ancient Greece, with competitors supposedly ingesting Strychnine as a performance enhancer (Fitch, 2012). This has continued into today with new research commencing weekly investigating performers using performance enhancing drugs in a world where the difference between first and second can cost an athlete millions in sponsorship and reward money. The regulation of doping in sport was not introduced until the 1960 s, when the sudden death of a cyclist at the 1960 Rome Olympics was attributed to the amphetamines in his system taken as a performance enhancer. Consequently this kick started the fight against doping with the IOC creating a list of prohibited substances in 1967, containing mostly stimulants. World Anti Doping Agency(2003 [online]) states that The spirit of sport is the celebration of the human spirit, body, and mind. and is characterised as keeping true to ethics, fair play and honesty; health; and respect for rules and laws. (p.3), this alludes to the fact that doping is in breach of these characteristics and should be eradicated to maintain the spirit of sport. This essay will review current thinking about performance enhancing drugs in elite competitions, the research undertaken and the resolutions suggested. Savulescu et al., (2004) argues that lifting the prohibition on doping with some drugs would level the playing field in elite competitions as it would eliminate genetic ... • 11. Blessed Are The Merciful, For They Shall Receive Mercy Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Introduction: You may be familiar with the story of Corrie Ten Boom who was sent to a concentration camp along with her father and sister for hiding Jews. Her father and sister died in the camps, but Corrie Ten Boom was released due to a clerical error. After the war she spent time going to churches to speak about God s forgiveness. It is amazing because she witnessed women in the concentration camps brutally tortured and killed. But she believed that her God was a God of mercy, grace, and forgiveness. After the war, she returned to Germany to speak and write about the mercy, grace, and forgiveness of God. She taught that lack of mercy and forgiveness was a sin against God because we have no reason not to forgive anyone since Christ is the one who has forgiven us of our sin. How could we hold it back from anyone else? After the war she returned to Germany and this is what she wrote in her book, The Hiding Place, speaking about one of the most difficult times she was faced with granting forgiveness. She was asked to go and speak to a church on forgiveness. She spent her time talking about how God forgives and that was a message the Germans needed to hear as the war had just ended. She said when God forgives us it is as if our sins were cast into the deepest part of the ocean, gone forever. • 12. Farrington s Character Analysis from Joyce s Counterparts Farrington s character: Farrington, in The Counterparts, is unquestionably one of the most maligned characters who inhabit the short stories that comprise Joyce s Dubliners. The infamous conclusion of Counterparts in which Farrington viciously beats his helpless son with a walking stick after returning from a frustrating day at work and the pubs seem for some to be more than adequate reasoning for his condemnation. If not, the description of his son begging him to stop and offering to say a Hail Mary for his sinful father, seems to clinch the response. However, it is extremely important to remember that Farrington is sinned against as well as sinning: that he is a product as well as a perpetrator of the paralysis of Dublin. Like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His anger mounts throughout the story. His pawning of his watch may symbolically release him from the shackles of schedules and time demands, but the frustrations of work only take on new and more extreme forms at the pub and at home. For Farrington, life repeats itself: work is like the pub is like home. Thus the root of Farrington s problem is his inability to realize the maddening circularity that defines his days. He consistently makes life worse for himself, not better. He slips away from work as he pleases, insults his boss, and matter of factly pawns his watch to buy alcohol. Though each small rebellion makes him momentarily happy, the displaced rage simply reappears someplace else, usually exacerbated by his actions. Farrington shows what can happen when a life consists primarily of mindless repetition: sooner or later violence will surface, and those who witness or are subject to the violence may themselves act violently in the future. Farrington s explosive violence sets him apart from some of the other characters in Dubliners, who often accept routine and boredom as facts of life and do little to upset the balance of familiarity and calm they ve established. Joyce remarked in a letter to Stanislaus, I am no friend of tyranny, as you know, but if many husbands are brutal the atmosphere in which they live is brutal. It is clear that religion and ... • 13. How Does Unification Of Language Cause Conflict Another way in which language can prevent or resolve a conflict is by its role in nationalism that implies a process of unification. Unification can either be the cause of a conflict because your local identity is attacked or be the cause of a resolution because, inherently, people are setting apart their differences and coming together into a nation. In the process of building a unified nation, a unified language must appear as well. Smith (1998), argues that the unification of language, for example, is a political act as well as a waract as long as it oppresses local identities and this may be a cause of conflict. The process of unification can be a war act as Smith states because you are being conquered. Your language and identity are being stripped off you and that can cause confrontation. However, the same unification process has a self implication of bringing together places that were once separated for different reasons which constitutes a conflict resolution method. People are putting aside their differences in order to have a nation. The differences donВґt disappear but a new rhetoric about... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When we think of a conflict there must be at least two opposing sides. Nationalism is a way of making this problem between two parties one that involves two complete countries. The individual differences disappear and the problem is now a binary one with extreme opposing sides, each being the whole people of each country as they are united under nationalism. Language in nationalism also lets us trace the border between two communities, language marks out a community because it is the primary means of communication (Smith, 1998, 28). International conflicts can arise because of this impossibility to communicate effectively and the division this creates. South Korean War Analysis On September 28, 1950, the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Australian Regiment arrived in Pusan, South Korea in what would be Australia s major contribution in the war effort against invading forces from the north of the Korean peninsula, to the Korean People s Army (KPA). Following Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies endorsement of UNSC Resolution 82, this would see the beginning of a three year conflict in which Australia would commit 17,000 troops and suffer over 300 fatalities, only five years after the end of the Second World War, (AWM, 2016) . In what was predicated as Australia s commitment to providing peacekeeping troops for the United Nations to preserve the freedom of South Koreans, the Korean War would eventually play a fundamental role in solidifying Australia s shift in vital military alliances, in particular the post WWII development of the United Statesin surpassing the United Kingdom as a key protector of Australia. • 16. Comparison Of Two Occupations, Social Work And Skills,... Compare and Contrast Two Occupations Final Interview Paper Occupations require a myriad of skills, training, and requirements. The personality and talents of individuals can guide them into their choosing a profession. For example, someone who is an accountant may prefer little interaction with others and for information to be very precise in every situation. Compare that to a therapist whom interacts with people daily and no two situations are the same or precise. I am going to compare two professions, Social Workversus Information Technology, to explore the similarities and differences in these two occupations. So in order to succeed, occupiers must both maintain their interests and convince the occupied population to accept their long term occupations. And in order to make this possible, potential occupying power should know three points. First of all, the need for occupation, commonly perceived external threats, and credible guarantees are both the causes and the effects of occupation success; Second, clear goals should be established and occupiers should be trained to be ready for occupations; Third, great powers should anticipate the possibility of occupation and take their responsibility to act before engaging into war. Q4: How does Edelstein narrow down his research question to specific empirical questions? A: In this article Edelstein first focused on the basics of occupations, dividing them into different kinds, and gave metrics for success and failure of military occupations. After that he explained the reason of success in military occupations and showed the dilemma that failing occupying power would face, and then gave a conclusion to his theory, after all that, he narrow down his research by using his conclusions and theory to discuss the implications of the argument for the current occupation of Iraq and future potential ... Catherine De Medici Influence On Ballet Ballet is a formalized and elegant form of dance with a fitting origin that traces back to Italian Renaissance courts during the 15th and 16th centuries. This style of dance quickly spread from Italy to France with the assistance of the aristocratic influence that came from Catherine de Medici, who succeeded in helping balletdevelop even further. For example, Catherine helped develop ballet further by having her own piece of work, Le Paradis d Amour , be presented at her daughters wedding, where Marguerite de Valois was wedded to Henry of Navarre. Naturally, with ballet having an aristocratic background, aristocratic money was responsible for the dancestyles initial stages of development in court ballet. • 19. Max Weber’s and Mircea Eliade’s Disagreement with... Karl Marx, Emile Durkheim, and Sigmund Freud were intelligent theorists that tried to reduce religion to simple explanations. Marx explained religion as a phenomenon created by economic position meant to give reason to people s social economic position and thus provide them satisfaction, while they are promised salvation in paradise. Durkheim reduced religionas something created by the social interaction of people, thus making religion a social phenomenon, in which people interact and have rites. Freud, on the other hand, explained religion as being neurotic due to people s obsession with security alongside the father. All in all, these three theorists attempted to reduce religion to its basic elements, which they later used to explain primitive life, and the reason for the continuity of religion in modern life. However, Mircea Eliade and Max Weber did not agree with the views. Weber and Eliade determined that the reductionist view did not give enough insight into religion, because they focused on primitive culture to say what religion was, information was confined to only western civilization, and in Freud s case religion was neurotic. Thus, Weber and Eliade rejected the reductionist views of Durkheim, Marx, and Freud. In Max Weber s refute of the three reductionists his ideal types point of view is applicable, which are formalized general categories. The meaning behind the ideal types is that they helped to create a framework, by which cases can be brought into an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In a sense, class could be considered the easiest thing to perform, and can also change the quickest. Nothing needs to be drastically, physically changed in order to perform a different class than the one a person is a part of. However, performing up or down in class takes a lot of effort. When someone performs up in class, they were persecuted and looked down upon compared to someone who performs down. By using the excerpt Serving in Florida from Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreichand the play, Six Degrees of Separation, by John Guare, we see how performing different classes than the one each person is a part affect themselves and those around them In Barbara Ehrenreich s Nickel and Dimed, Barbara went undercover to perform and learn about a class that was not her own. Although it was for only a month, Barbara struggled to keep up the effort and survive in a lower class than she was accustomed to. Even so, her co workers and the people she met along the way did not realize she was performing down in her class. Maybe this was because the people she surrounded herself with were also in similar class situations where the fight to survive was more difficult, not allowing much space in thoughts for other people s life stories. By itself, the effects of fire on mammals have been well studied whether is it small (Leahy et al., 2016; Southgate and Masters, 1996), medium large (Shaw and Carter, 1990; Hobbs and Spotwart, 1984), a prey species (Newsome et al., 1983; Vernes, 2000), or predators (Dees et al., 2001). This study will hypothesize fire effects on mammals in using a mammalian fire and timber harvest review (Fisher and Wilkinson, 2005), although it should be noted that they do identify a lack of data for the Canids, Felids and Ursids. In accordance with the review, we hypothesize that rodents, insectivores, ungulates, canids, felids, and ursids will have an increased response to fire while arboreal ... • 38. Annie Get Your Gun By Ethel Merman And Ray Middleton Anything you do, I can do better; I can do anything, better than you , in Annie Get Your Gun performed by Ethel Merman and Ray Middleton, is one of many examples that are still battled today on the topic of gender roles playing essentially to modern society. Historically, the relationship between female and male has almost always been unequal and oppressive; but, a feminist critic would aim to critique the nature of genderroles. In a feminist theory, it mainly focuses women s role as well as their social standing in a society. In today s society, women empower society to promote matriarchy whereas a female becomes the head of the family. Since the nineteenth century up until today in the twenty first century, society has made assumptions about female based on their gender. For instance, people often assume that men are strong and women are weak and that women cannot control their emotions, and that men are better at hunting, and that women belong in the kitchen. Oftentimes, books and movies can confirm such stereotypes of males as action heroes and women as housewives; however, through the characters of Katniss and Peeta in The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins tries to show her readers that these assumptions are false. Moreover, Katniss is an individual who breaks away from the typical gender stereotypes that one would assume while reading. In fact, showing her feminine side to readers, Katniss is simply a nurturer because of how she takes care of others like Rue and Peeta ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Now that momentum is gone; however, sport boat manufacturers are optimistic about the next ten years. A tidal wave of retiring baby boomers could offer substantial new buyers when the economy rebounds. The boating industry in general forecasts better days ahead. D. Long Term Industry Outlook There is a bright future for the sport boat industry; the market as a whole is expected to grow in the near future. In 2006 the sport boat market had a total value of $6.9 billion; that value has climbed by 9.3% each year, and that trend is expected to continue for the next 3 years. This means that the sport boat market will be worth $10.1 billion by 2014. This industry rebound is dependent upon the recovery of the market and a general change in attitude of banks to lend more money for boat purchases. In addition to this overall market growth and economic recovery, we can expect sport boat sales to increase due to an increase in the number of boat purchasers. As the baby boomers reach retirement age, the number of boats sold can be expected to increase causing the overall market to increase at a rate greater than the expected 9.3%. With this explosion in the sport boat market, positive economic activity, and the increased willingness of banks to grant loans, it is expected that the sport boat market will expand beyond all future expectations.4 II. The Tower of London used to be the residence of the royal family, but today it is used as a treasury that contains many valuables of the royal family, including The Crown Jewels of England; crown. One of the biggest being starting in extra innings a runner will be placed on second base, increasing the possibility for the batting team to score in the given inning. This rule was thought up after countless games going into extra innings. Most notably the game between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees, in 2015, where this game went into 19 innings, lasting well over six hours. There are still so many games per season that go into extra innings, most of which stay between 10 and 13, there are still the freak games that happen that get its way up to 19 innings. With each extra inning adding an average of twenty minutes onto the game time, it becomes an extremely drawn out game (Kopf). Dan Kopf discusses in his article Major League Baseball Is Testing a Rule to Start Extra Innings with a Runner on Second , that the chances with a player added on second base in ending the given innings a tie decrease by about 10 percent, which when it comes down to it, is a pretty big percentage, and really anything helps when it is already a 10 or 11 inning game. With this addition, though, the average game time will not be affected, the average extra innings game time will, and will definitely speed up the time with a player already in scoring position (Kopf). Not only will it affect the game time but it will also be better for the teams and the players. If a game goes into extra innings there is the probability of running out of able pitchers, so a manager would either have to use pitchers that are tired, and have the possibility of them hurting themselves or pull utility players to pitch, which really is not ideal either (SI ... • 45. The Inferno By Dante Alighieri Inferno by Dante Alighieri is beautifully woven to reflect the realities or unrealities of the time. The various circles of hell are used by the Florentine writer Dante, to tell the tale in a structured and elaborate manner, with the use of nine circles of the Inferno (Havely, 374). Interesting, however, is the manner in which Dante describes the characters, as they are seen to be facing tragedies in their life in hell. The author of this medieval text categorizes the different types of sins that people can commit and subjects the characters to various punishments; each is in a separate circle in hell. Lawall opines that the writer uses a style that makes the reader envision themselves in the poem (Lawall, 17). The infamous guide of Dante the character is none other than Virgilthe poet, and being born before the time of Christ, places him in the category of a virtuous pagan , who is in a matter of speaking, lost and without hope in Inferno, but not without safety that the author bestows as homage to Virgil (Alighieri, 1028). With the various messages of political strife and religious tension seeping throughout the text of the Inferno, it is clear to see that a couple who faces a tragic situation that has no ending is Paolo and Francesca. In so doing, the author subjects this adulterous couple to relatively tragic states even though they appear to possess incredible beauty in character, personality and intellect. (Clarke, 2013) As already mentioned, another problem, which has considerable influence on this situation, is climate change. It is generally known, that climate is closely related with local rainfall and water availability. Peter Rogers claims that surveys, which investigate the effects of climate change on water availability by 2025 display that it will bring scarcity to loads of places. It is expected that climate change will exacerbate aridity and reduce supply in many regions, which lead to droughts.
