Life Is Journey Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of life as a journey can be both a profound and challenging
endeavor. The metaphorical richness of the concept offers a wide array of angles and
perspectives to explore, making it simultaneously intriguing and intricate to navigate. One must
carefully navigate the vast landscape of human experiences, emotions, and existential musings to
encapsulate the essence of life's journey within the confines of an essay.
Capturing the essence of life's journey necessitates a delicate balance between personal
reflections and broader philosophical considerations. It involves delving into the intricacies of
individual paths, societal expectations, and the ever-changing landscapes that shape our
existence. To paint a comprehensive picture, one must weave together threads of personal
anecdotes, historical context, and universal truths, creating a narrative that resonates with
readers on a deep and emotional level.
The challenge lies not only in conveying the complexity of the journey but also in maintaining a
coherent and engaging narrative that holds the reader's attention. Striking the right balance
between introspection and relatability requires a keen understanding of the human experience
and the ability to articulate profound insights in a clear and accessible manner.
Moreover, the topic invites contemplation on the cyclical nature of life, the impact of choices,
and the inevitability of change. Navigating these profound themes demands careful
consideration of language, tone, and structure to ensure that the essay leaves a lasting impression
on the reader.
In the end, writing an essay on the theme of life as a journey is a formidable task that requires a
blend of creativity, introspection, and literary finesse. It beckons the writer to embark on their
own intellectual and emotional journey, navigating the complexities of existence to distill
profound insights into a cohesive and compelling narrative.

What Is The Theme Of Father And Son By Bernard
Maclaverty
Father and Son is a short story written by the Irish Bernard MacLaverty in 1978.
The short story takes place in Northern Ireland where we meet a father and his son
and get a glimpse into their life.
The narrator alternates between father and son and is mostly conversations and
thoughts.
The story is basically based on the relationship between the son and the father and
you do not get much told from the past. However there is told, that the son has
been in London, which is clear because the father says he has not heard from his
son for two years, and talks about reading about London in the papers and seeing
scenes from London on the news. We are also told that the father is a widow which
is clear when the father asks the questions Is it my ... Show more content on

The atmosphere is always pressured between the father and son and none of them
sleeps at night. They used to be close to talk, laugh and do a lot of things together
among them, go fishing. Now the son is very stuffy and shares nothing with his
father, he doesn t tell him where he goes, not even when the father asks. The son s
anger and bad relationship with the father is obvious by his way of act, thinking
and talking to his father. He shouts and calls him a nosey old bastard and an old
woman that cries (page 116, line 10) (page 115, line 3 4). The father is calmer he
loves his son very much but he is worried and frustrated about his son. He miss the
time when they could do anything together, he want his son to talk to him the way
he hear him talk to the people in the door, want to laugh with him and know what
he is thinking. One day after an ordinary quarrel the father would go up to
apologize, when he opens the door he sees his son pushing a gun under the pillow
and when he asks what is his son shouts, It s non of your fucking business (page
116, line 13) and slamming the door in the head of his father. The father imagine that
he did not see what he saw, hoping he is
The Life and Poetry of Bret Harte
Authors, a lot of them surround us today, they are the person who enhances our
imagination, or gives existence to anything that is plain and different. In American
history, there were a number of poets and authors who rose to popularity. They
changed people s outlook on everything, and added a great amount of different things
in American literature. Throughout this time, there were a couple of great poets and
authors who helped create the local color school in American fiction. One poet who
helped in this movement was Bret Harte.
Bret Harte, an American author and poet, was born on August 25, 1836 in Albany,
New York. His father, Henry Harte, and mother, Elizabeth Ostrander, both worked as
teachers. His full name was Francis Brett Hart, ... Show more content on

With no recourse, he went to San Francisco where he found a job as a typesetter. It
was also here where he shared short stories and poems for the journal, the Golden
Era. While working here, he started signing his works as Bret or The Bohemian.
His life at this stage was somewhat a repeat of what his childhood was, living
measly, since he was only receiving a small amount of income. Harte was very
much against racism, and these feelings gave him reason to write poems entitled
as Plain Language from Truthful James . Even though he considered this to be the
worst poems I ever wrote , it got a different response from the people around the
world: they loved it! The poems had a negative outcome because it started a racial
turmoil in California against the Chinese. However, in time, he learned how to
please the readers by giving them what they wanted to read and not what they
needed to read. Before, racism was a huge issue, nobody liked other races because
then do not have the same color of skin. People always wanted to have a higher
authority over the others, the whites were considered the powerful authority at that
time. In 1860, he started writing stories with the theme of Escape and Illusions. He
was considered a very talented humorist because he can turn a completely boring
thing in to something everyone would enjoy. With his talent in writing, he won
national acclaim and from then on,
Ray Bradbury Influence
You don t have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading
them Ray Bradbury. One of the most influential people in all of American
literature. His books were so influential because he described things that were
going on in his lifetime. He began to start writing when he was 12 13. He lived
through WW2 and the great depression. Two of the biggest events in US history.
The holocaust affected him in many ways as a child. One of his most famous books
was written about the evil things Hitler did to books, and the problems some
children have to go through. He loved libraries because he said that most students

That is also where he started writing his first books. His books focus on big
problems that he sees in the world or in the united states. There is no debate that he
had a major impact on American history. His impact was so great that it is required
by schools to read one of his books. He also lived in the 1964 civil rights
movements. During that time he lived in northern Chicago. Not much happened to
him when he lived in Chicago. Cellphones and the first computers were being
made a couple years after. He was not a big fan of tv either. His books were a very
influential part in all of American history today. With books like Fahrenheit 451and
Something Wicked this way Comes, keep his legacy.
Ray Bradbury was born August 22, 1920, in Illinois. He died June 5, 2012, in
California. During his lifetime books were one of his main sources of happiness.
During his childhood, his family experienced many moves to Tucson, Arizona. The
Great Depression was the reason these moves had to happen. Shortly after it hit his
father didn t have a job. The lack of having a job sent him looking for one.

where not a lot happened. It still gave Ray many stories to go in his future novels.

Although these types of companies historically have not created an environment in

Diversity: Tech companies need new strategies by Joelle Emerson , points out, even
law firms, after 20 years of implementing diversity policies and procedures are still
not diversified.
Tech companies are investing more financially to evaluate strategies and solutions for
diversifying the workplace, but many are finding it hard to come up with an action
plan that will assist in helping diversify the company. This is in part due to internal
struggles within each company. It also is in part due to individualized companies

company makes a breakthrough on how to achieve diversity, others will follow suit.
An importance feature tech companies have is the ability to change with the times. It
is due to this ability of not accepting what has always been that a company can begin

deliver measurable value and manage risk. Typically MSP services include help desk
support, back up support, remote monitoring and patch management. Apparently, the
MSP business model is always about managing various types of technologies and
serving multitude customers. That is MSP in its most basic form.
However, the technologies that MSPs are integrating always change that is why they

managed service providers expanded their scope of services to differentiate
themselves from competitors. Their line of business calls for enterprises to adopt
various performance metrics, sales compensation programs and technology
infrastructure components to name a few. Pure play managed service providers are
very rare in the industry since most of their revenues were driven from their other

Common Types of Managed Services
Whilst MSPs are more inclined to larger companies before, nowadays they are
increasingly attractive to midsize organizations and small businesses. And although
MSPs are continuously working to provide new services that the people need, there
are common types of services that these companies have long leveraged.

Australia s Economic Growth
Economic growth
An increase in the capacity of an economy to produce goods and services, compared
from one period of time to another.
Inflation is a general increase in prices and fall in the purchasing value of money.
The growth of an economy is thought of not only as an increase in productive
capacity but also as an improvement in the quality of life to the people of that
economy.
For comparing one country s economic growth to another, GDP or GNP per capita
should be used as these take into account population differences between countries.
How is it measured?
GDP (Gross domestic product) is the sum of the market values, or prices, of all final
goods and services produced in an economy during a period of time.

Heavy Metal Music Stereotypes
In the documentary the main message is that the music that we listen to has a
negative impact on the way we act and how we think. In my opinion some of the
music we listen to can have a very negative effect on how we view people and some
situations that can lead to death or scrutinizing sexuality. For example in a study, A
study performed to explore the possible effect of heavy metal music containing either
sexually violent or nonviolent lyrics on males attitudes toward women revealed that
those exposed to heavy metal music, with either sexually violent or nonviolent lyrics,
showed significantly more negative stereotyped attitudes toward women than those in
a group instead exposed to classical music.Likewise, in a study performed by Fischer

American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry warns that it can make
suicide seem like a good solution to problems. According to an article published by
the journal Pediatrics, Heavy metal and some rock music have been associated in
some studies with an increased risk of suicide. However, a more recent study
published by the Journal of Youth and Adolescence, states, It seems that listening to
music to express uncomfortable emotions could be a rather effective coping
mechanism for girls since it reduces the risk for suicidal behaviors. (https:/

saying that in many cases that the things that we listen to have a bigger effect on us
than we realize and that we should start to pay more attention to the lyrics that are in
the song rather than what the backround music is.It can sometimes help people
increase the way people feel and then they go on to do many irrational things that

The Greatest Living English Language Novelist
Introduction:
Naipaul, considered by many to be the greatest living English language novelist. At
a very early age he grew up in Trinidad where there was lot of poverty and a
population of about half a million. With this type of situation he was given the
ambition to write books and novels. Naipaul and is family believed themselves to be
the descendants of Hindu Brahmin, though they did not observe many of the
practices and restrictions common to Brahmins in India. The family gradually
stopped speaking Indian languages and spoke English at home. On October 30, 1990
Mr. Naipaul gave a lecture on Our Universal Civilization. Western values of tolerance,
individualism, equality, and personal liberty have given birth were discussed. He
describes the personal and philosophical confusion of those who find themselves torn
between their native civilizations and the valued of universal civilization. Also
throughout Our Universal Civilization, Naipaul argues that the strength of the West
lies precisely in its intellectual diffidence. He contrasts the West with Islam. These
often reject Western ideals yet accepts the fruits of Western progress. Naipaul
mentions two of its fundamental precepts: the Golden Rule and the pursuit of
happiness. Naipaul refers to the Golden Rule as a Christian idea, but it was a
Confucian idea long before it was Christian. For the pursuit of happiness, he says it
is arguably the basis of Buddhism. He says that a new civilization is forming, and he

Planned Parenthood Case Summary
Introduction
With repeated threats from Congress to defund Planned Parenthood and multiple
states passing restrictive laws, reproductive rights and abortion in particular continue
to be increasingly under attack in the United States. In 1973, the Supreme Court ruled
in Roe v. Wade that a woman s choice whether to have an abortionis protected by her
right to privacy and that any restrictions on that right must be under strict scrutiny.
This means that by law, women have the right to get abortions without facing
unnecessary restrictions. According to Roe v. Wade
, the only time the government
could enforce restrictions on this right was when there is a compelling state interest
to do so.
Nearly two decades later, the decision of Planned Parenthood of Southeastern ... Show

This case will decide whether strict abortion laws in the state of Texas are
constitutional or not. The challengers to these laws argue they place an undue burden
on women seeking abortion, which goes against the decision of Planned Parenthood
v. Casey.
States all over the country enforce strict laws on women seeking abortions, but Texas
has some of the toughest restrictions. Texas only has six clinics that meet these tough
restrictions, which means some women would have to travel hundreds of miles just
to get an abortion. In addition, 28 states require women seeking abortions to wait for
at least 24 hours and up to 72 hours after receiving counseling to actually get the
abortion. According to the Guttmacher Institute, these waiting periods effectively
require the woman make two separate trips to the clinic to obtain the procedure in 14
states.
Although the Supreme Court will rule on the Texas laws soon, passing a bill in
Congress to make it illegal for federal, state, and local governments to restrict a
woman s right to abortion would once and for all protect a woman s privacy and

Embezzlement, A Costly White Collar Crime Essay
Embezzlement, A Costly White Collar Crime
When an employer hires a new employee, they expect that employee to perform the
work that is asked of them so that they can receive a paycheck. Often, employees are
promoted to positions of trust within the company. These positions enable dishonest
employees to commit criminal acts against the company for their own personal gain.
One of the most common crimes they commit is embezzlement. Embezzlement
occurs when a person in a position of trust takes or misappropriates funds that they
have been entrusted with and converts them for their own benefit. This was what
happened in Dixon, Illinois in 2012 that resulted in a $53.7 million dollar loss to the
city. The comptroller at the time, Rita Crundwell, embezzled the money to fund her
own horse breeding operation along with extravagant gifts for herself. Crundwell
was charged in 2012 and plead guilty to wire fraud. Crundwell as sentenced to 20
years in prison for this crime.
The crime of embezzlement is considered a white collar crime as it is a nonviolent
crime that is committed by a person for their own financial gain. When a person
commits embezzlement, they do not physically harm another person, although they
cause them to suffer some sort of financial loss due to the theft they have committed.
Those that commit embezzlement are usually in the career of some sort of business
and hold a position that they have access or control over some type of financials for
the company or clients.
Comparision of HighScope and Montesori Childhood
Education...
HighScope was founded in America by David Weikart and colleagues in 1960s. It
was originally developed for low income families and children. Weikart and his
colleagues proposed an intervention for three and 4 year olds to prepare them for
school.
The HighScope approach to Early Childhood Education recognizes the benefits of
active participatory learning. Therefore its programme is structured around the
concept of learning through play.
HighScope programme has eight curriculum areas of which one is Mathematics.
HighScope Mathematics include concepts such umber words and symbols, counting,
shapes, measuring, and pattern. In classroom there are enough materials for everyone
which allows experimenting.
Children acquire mathematics skills and concepts through adult guided experiences
that respect children s concrete thinking and need to learn through exploration. One
such adult guided experience would be, for example, when children spontaneously
use numbers in their play adult makes comments using words and phrases like more

Throughout the day children are exposed to various concepts in the area of
mathematics and these examples are:

Jack Merridew and his brainless hunters. He has great goals, yet tragically his
appearance and identity causes him to be disregarded in the young men s new

which makes him pointless and helpless. While Piggy has the knowledge of a grown

The most telling scenes that propose the cost for such reason in compelling

society, the supplier and objective observer, much to the delight of the others, who
are respecting the viciousness of Jack s tribalism, which is not balanced and gives

privilege to speak, Piggy knows wisely how to utilize the instrument however is

The Characters In Graham Greene s The Destructor
When authors design a story they decide whether the characters will be direct or
indirect. In the story The Destructors by Graham Greene, one character that is
displayed as indirect would be Trevor, better known as T. Within the story the only
direct representation of him is when the other characters give a direct description
of him being silent, however, the rest of the descriptions about T s character are
given indirectly and are implied. It s implied that T s background is that of a
wealthy young boy whose family lost all of their finances due to the war, which is
what his motivations are for destroying Old Misery s house, and his developing
leadershipskills.
T starts off being the newest member of the Wormsley Common Gang and the
others describe him as being silent, with an intimidating glare, ...his brooding
silence that all recognized, (Greene 1), ...meeting the dark gaze of the newcomer...,
(Greene 1). It s implied that T came from money but because of the war his family
falls down the social ladder, ... the fact that his father, a former architect and
present clerk, had come down in the world ... (Greene 1). When he comes late to
the gang s meeting he tells the other members that he went into the house and that it
was beautiful, his use of the word beautiful implies his more educated background
because Blackie then says that the word makes him want to speak to T in a strange
proper way, He was tempted to say, My dear Trevor, old chap, and unleash his
The Science Of The Human Race
The world is vastly increasing its population and human beings are becoming more
technologically advanced. Every year it seems like the next iPod is coming out.
Before you know it the iPod 25 will be released. Consequently, all iPods before the
new iPod 25 will become obsolete and soon discarded. The world is becoming a
disproportionate place of buying new products and then to simultaneously to
disregard the now out of date products. The world has reached a technological point
where it has become so motivated to reach new heights we are contemplating on
whether we should soon advance the biology of the humanrace. Ever since the cloning
of the first animal, a sheep named Dolly in the year 1996 the world has been afraid
that animal cloning is only the beginning for they felt man was playing god. As for
human cloning the public knew it would follow soon after. In this time of panic
Gretchen Vogel, a journalist notes, that suddenly the public s fears came true. In
the year 1997 before any cloning laws were set a physicist, Richard Seed, made a
widely publicized claim that he would attempt to clone a human (2001). After
Richard Seed s announcement several legislative bills were passed in effect to
prevent human cloning. Despite all the ethical and biological harmfulness that
human cloning can cause, it has many areas where it could in fact improve the
human race. Vaughn a philosopher assesses the work of Dan Brock, who wrote a
paper on the ethical pros and cons dealing with
The Use Of Dna Tests For Hair And Blood Samples
Evidence to Convict Innocent People
Scientific breakthroughs now allow the use of DNA tests for hair and blood samples
that are about as reliable as fingerprint matching. While the evidence assists law
enforcement, it allows defense attorneys to reopen cases to reevaluate solving crimes.
Introduction
When was the last time you have mistaken someone s identity? What did the last
person in class have on today? Wrongful convictions may begin during the
investigative process. Police misconduct or mistaken eyewitness testimony can ruin
the rest of a person s life. The criminal justice system can be changed to prevent the
latter by reforming the type of evidence allowed to be used when convicting a
person. Most cases of wrongful conviction are either police initiated, which begin
with the assumption that a specific person is guilty, or witness initiated, which
contains an articulate eyewitness testimony.
Police Initiated
Police investigations often begin with tunnel vision. Tunnel vision occurs when the
police focus on one suspect and do not go through a thorough investigation. Tunnel
vision usually obtains biases and the real criminal gets off free. They contain faulty
labs, the old boy method , and manufacturing evidence to fill in holes. They also
contain police misconduct by the use of snitches (con game), accomplices (turning in
of a partner for a lighter sentence), and coerced confessions. Witness Initiated
Witness initiated convictions are usually for
The Battle Of Carthage, Romans Were Thirsty For Violence
After the defeat of Carthage, Romans were thirsty for violence. In ancient Rome,
gladiators were of the most notorious people on the planet. Deranked from society,
they still managed to maintain a high charisma and attained significant amounts of
glory. While at camps, they underwent intense training, were treated like animals,
and had all their rights stripped from them. But despite the cruelties, they were
highly honored and were gifted various rewards and ceremonial banquets on the
days before their gruesome battles. Also, the owners of gladiators or people
involved in the trade, ensured that they were treated with at least some hospitality
and ensured the well being of the fighters. Gladiators were depicted on artifacts
throughout all of Rome. Women viewed gladiators as sexually attractive idols
because of the bravery and strength they displayed in the arena. Even though a lot
of women wanted to have children with those men because of their strength, but
were not allowed to because gladiators were still characterized as nothing more
than criminals and slaves; the lowest rank in society. When speaking of Roman
gladiators, many people tend to have misconceptions of who they really were and
their status in society. A vast amount of people are lead to believe that all gladiators
were slaves and lived under harsh conditions. Even though most gladiators were
slaves and prisoners of war, a lot of them were low class men who wanted to attain
glory and fame, others were

The Culture Of The Colombian Culture
Colombian culture is a culture rich in traditions and beliefs that are a combination
of the indigenous Indians native to Colombia, the Spanish who colonized Colombia
in the 1400 s, as well as the influence of the land itself. It is a country rich in
biodiversity with around 1,550 species of birds and more than 13,000 species of
plants within a mostly temperate landscape covering around 440,000 square miles.
Currently it boasts a population of about 42.3 million people(worldometers.info) of
many mixed races, including numerous distinct subcultures. Around 75% of the
population is mixed race with fifty five percent being Mestizos (Intermarriage
between whites and natives), sixteen percent being Mulattoes (Intermarriage between
blacks and whites), and four percent Zambo (Intermarriage between blacks and
Indians) The remaining twenty percent of the population consists of European,
African, or Indian ancestry. Due to the Spanish invasion that began in 1499, there
has been an enormous Spanish influence weaved into the Colombian culture
(everyculture.com). Spanish is the main language spoken in Columbia and is done
so formally. Columbians are an especially proud honorable people and this is
reflected by the formal and respectful way they always address each other. Dr.

Buck Vs Bell Case Study
Buck vs. Bell
During the twentieth century, the United States Supreme Court passed laws that
sparked a time where grotesque discrimination and outright injustice towards all
races and gender ran amuck. The United States Supreme court supported a claim
that those who were deemed feebleminded were a hazard to society, and to protect
the nation s gene pool by keeping the lesser classes from reproducing, they needed
to be sterilized. Carrie Buck, notoriously known for her Case against the supreme
court shows an unquestionable detail just how deplorable such a government was.

Differences Between Theatre And Movie
In today s busy world, people usually struggle to find time for fun and a way of
relaxation but when it happens, they often spend it on entertainment. One of those
forms of entertainment is watching stage or film productions. Theatre and film have
lots of aspects in common and depend on each other, however, they involve
differences. People choose between theater and filmbased on factors and their own
preferences. The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast between those two
forms of art.
First of all, theater as well, as the film is the form of entertainment. Theater was one
of the first forms of arts that made people feel emotion: sadness, laughter,
thoughtfulness while being entertained. By watching actors perform on the stage the
viewers live and feel every moment and emotion. The amusement that comes with life
performance is extremely inspiring and motivating. The point of entertainment is to
capture the attention of the audience and that s what ... Show more content on

One of which is the type of performance. Theater is known for performances that
are unedited and raw, therefore actors have to rehearse the script frequent numbers
of times in order to avoid bloopers. During play the most focus is on actors and
acting, rather than visuals; the stage cannot be edited or enhanced. In stage acting,
actors have to deal with a lot of stress they have to be stage ready no matter what.
Actors have to have oratory skill as well since they have to perform in front of the
crowd. However, when it comes to creating movies actors are allowed to have
bloopers, since it is possible to edit it out. Actors do not have to rehearse the script
as many as theater actors do. Actors of film are performing in front of the camera,
not the live audience. Filmmaking is focused a lot on the visually in order to make it
look more attention capturing. Movies are enhanced visually and can have special
Hybrid Automobiles vs. Fuel-efficient Automobiles
Whether for ecological or economic reasons, consumers are feeling a pressing
need to purchase a fuel efficient automobile. However, the array of choices on the
market are staggering. Not only do consumers have the choice between different
brands of automobile manufactures; manufacturers are also offering different
types of fuel efficient cars. Some fuel efficient cars use traditional internal
combustion engines alone; others offer the option to use alternative fuel sources
like diesel and biodiesel; and others yet offer the opportunity to drive a car with an
electric or a hybrid engine. The decision of which fuel efficient car to purchase
depends on several lifestyle factors. Price sensitivity and prestige are issues to be
considered when making the choice between fuel efficient or hybrid car. Concern
for the environment and for reducing dependence on fossil fuel might be an
impetus for choosing hybrid over a fuel efficient traditional car. Moreover, driving
and usage patterns are among the most salient issues impacting the choice between
a standard fuel efficient car versus a hybrid electric car. Generally, standard fuel
efficient automobiles are better for drivers who are price sensitive and who drive
longer distances less often, whereas hybrid electric automobiles will be more
attractive to drivers who commute relatively short distances to work every day. Price,
politics, and driving patterns are the most important points of reference when
comparing a hybrid with a

Argumentative Essay About Skiers

Skier
As the weather gets colder and snow begins to blanket the ground, most people start
complaining about frigid temperatures and back breaking shoveling. However, there
is a group of people who thrive during these frozen winter months. They are known
as skiers. The dictionary definition of downhill , or alpine, skiing is simply the sport
or recreation of sliding down snow covered hills on skis with fixed heel bindings.
Does that do skiers justice? As a dedicated skier, I think that definition is insulting.
There is so much more to skiing than just standing on some pieces of metal and
plastic. Some people think of skiers as bums who like taking risks and sleeping out
of their car in gas station parking lots. There are also those who characterize skiers
as rich snobs who have nothing better to spend their time and money on. However,
those are extremes. Most people are between those beliefs, and identify skiers as ...

Some people can not deal with the cold, others find the sport too physically
demanding, and still more would rather spend their time and/or money on other
endeavors. Skiing is not easy. Being a skier is not simply putting on boots,
standing on skis, and letting gravity do the work. However, skiing is worth the
difficulties! There is nothing that can compare to the satisfaction of spending a
day out on the slopes. You might find that you can relate to weekend warriors ,
enjoyers , racers , freestylers , a combination of categories, or neither of these!
However, one thing that all skiers have in common is that they enjoy being active
outside and being adventurous. Everyone will have their own personal style of
skiing, but in the end skiing is all about the freedom of being able to live in the
moment. There are few things these days that allow people to do this. Skiing allows
people to forget about the past and future and simply take pleasure in everything life

Similarities Between Iago s Soliloquy In Othello
William Shakespeare s play Othello is a short, drama filled with suspense, hate,
manipulation, and jealousy. The main characters are Iago: the antagonist and
Othello: the protagonist. The suspicion of Othello being with Iago s wife causes him
to hate Othello. No matter what version of Iago s soliloquy is depicted as the hate
for Othellois strongly stated. Iagos character can be considered as a creepy,
psychopath, individual obsessed with revenge against Othello. The three videos and
the passage from Othello have similarities and differences, but it is the details that
creates: either a different mood, performance, or symbol from each other. Iago s
soliloquy on page 572 bring forth information about Iago s inner thoughts and
foreshadows other events in the play. Between lines 370 373 is a conversation
between Iago and Roderigo, and in the conversation Iago seems to be an honest and
trustworthy friend. That quickly changes when William Shakespearegives the
audience an understanding of Iago s deceit and anger. When Iago says, gained
knowledge should profane...with such a snipe but for my sport and profit (lines
374 376) he confesses that Roderigo is a fool that can easily be taken advantage of
by him. Then he goes on to explain how he hates the Moor (line 376) , because of
rumors he heard about Othello being with his wife. Not only does he have distrust
for Othello, but also Cassio. Iago pauses at least three times to emphasize his thought
process. Iago says, after some
The US Federal Laws and Testimonial Privileges
Law The essence of testimonial privileges is to balance the search for truth with that
of the unique character of privileged relationships. The US federal laws offer spousal
privileges in to persons on the basis that communication between spouses is
confidential. This privilege protects against the disclosure of contents of confidential
communications between spouses during the course of their marriage. This privilege
is applicable in both criminal and civil cases. Either the witness spouse or the party
spouse can invoke the spousal privilege to deter the other from testifying. The
attorney client privilege, on the other hand, refers to a legal notion, which protects
certain communications involving an attorney and his/ her client and maintains these
communications as confidential. The attorney client privilege is among the oldest
recognized privileges in the US and encourages clients to make full and truthful
disclosures to their attorneys without the prospect of their disclosures being used
against them. This allows attorneys to offer candid advice and sufficient
representation. The self incrimination privilege recognizes the Fifth Amendment of
the US Constitution by protecting witnesses from being coerced into incriminating
themselves. Under this privilege, a witness is allowed to plead the Fifth by refusing
to respond to questions if the response could be self incriminatory. This privilege is
founded on the aspect of torture, which was used to extract information

the world, don t get shampoo in your eyes. It really stings. There. Done. Now f***ing

harsh, his message contains truth, that people need to stop testing on animals.
Animals need to stop being the center of laboratory and farm experiments, or at least

animals in testing in 1851 as a part of learning in the classroom at universities

Therefore, animals deserve rights to protect their lives and sanity. Animals should
be given more legal rights and protection to prevent harm caused by any animal
experimentations and factory farms. The question taking charge of this movement:
do animals deserve rights, if so how much? Humans first began to find interest in
the way the animal body worked in 1625, when William Harvey published a book
on the animal body and thus started animal experimentation (ProQuest). From then
on it escalated it into the fiasco that it has become today. This then lead to the need
of anti animal cruelty laws, which in 1822, Great Britain passed the first law that
banned harm against farm animals called Martin s Act (ProQuest). From the on
american lawmakers passed the Animal Welfare Act, in 1966, which affects the sale,
research, and showing of animals, except for mice, rats, birds, and animals on farms

Humane Act, which prevents the cruel killing of awake cattle and hogs, does not
protect chickens, so they die a painful death while still in a conscious state(Clemmitt

registry for animal abusers much like the ones for sex offenders (ProQuest). Many of
the experiments that take place use chimps; but in 2013, the U.S. restricted
Comparing A Workaholic And Alcoholic
A workaholic and alcoholic have similar qualities. Each quality affects oneself and
those around physically, mentally, and socially. A workaholic is someone who has a
compulsive need to work, however; an alcoholic is someone who persistently needs
to drink alcohol. Although the desires are different, they still are affected by addiction
the same way.
One of the common effects of being a workaholic is experiencing exhaustion. The
long hours and the rigorous work load could harm or damage someone s body, as
well as drinking alcohol on a daily basis. When drunk one can experience
blackouts, dizziness, and shakiness. Both alcohol and consistent working can cause
one s body to give out on them. These two activities can hinder exercise and muscle
movement for long periods of time, which can be detrimental as someone s life
progresses. When one is drunk, they exhibit aggressive behavior which can result in
hurting others. Workaholics are usually absent from home, leaving a child

Dr. Bernard, Canada s Nine Non Partisan Senators
Introduction In October 2016, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau named Nova Scotia s
Wanda Thomas Bernard as one of Canada s nine non partisan senators (Williams,
2016). According to Semansky (2016), Dr. Bernard, who serves as the university s
special advisor, diversity and inclusiveness, [is] the first African Nova Scotian
woman to serve in the Senate Chamber (para. 2). In response to the news, Bernard
has stated that equity for all is [her] primary goal in life. To be able to enter the
Senate with that perspective and contribute to the country is an incredible privilege,
one that [she] knows [she] will be accountable for (Semansky, 2016, para. 7). While

In this section, I will briefly discuss the effects of Trudeau s Senate reforms and argue
that reform is better than abolishment. Trudeau s three phased Senate reforms give
minority group leaders an opportunity to represent their communities. The reforms
attempt to shift the focus from gaining support for the Liberal party, to a collection of
different and diverse minds within the Senate. The first phase of the reforms focused
on the [removal of] all senators from the national Liberal caucus , which inherently
suggested that senators [no longer] have formal or organic ties with the Liberal
caucus, nor do they have any organizational, financial or other formal responsibilities
within the Liberal Party (Dion, 2015, para. 5). Going from there, the [creation of] a
new, nonpartisan, merit based, broad and diverse process to advise the prime minister
on Senate appointments was the second item on the agenda (Dion, 2015, para. 6).
Finally, the third phase targeted the inclusion of marginalized groups, such as women
and minorities, in the Senate (Dion, 2015). Therefore, Trudeau s appointments are
changing the direction of the Senate to include historically oppressed minorities and
their representatives. That being stated, one particular argument that has been raised
in opposition to Senate reforms is that the upper house is no longer relevant and
should be abolished (Maclean s, 2013). The website suggests that

Las Meninas ValГЎzquez and Picasso Las Meninas is a famous painting created by
Diego ValГЎzquez in 1656 (left). Diego ValГЎzquez s Las Meninas has inspired
artists to make several renditions, admiring it. Pablo Picasso, in particular, has made
over 50 renditions of Las Meninas . Pablo Picasso s rendition shown at the top of the
page (right) is only one of his recreations of Las Meninas , made in 1957 . There
are many similarities and differences between both the original and Pablo Picasso s
rendition of Las Meninas , as well as several reasons why they made the paintings
and what the artists were trying to portray.Diego ValГ
Ўzquez s Las Meninas and
Pablo Picasso s rendition of it are similar in several ways. First, both paintings
share some of the same objects. The princess, infantana margarita, is in the center of
both paintings. Secondly, there is a maid of honor (a royal servant) kneeling to the
left side of the princess in both paintings. Thirdly, both of the paintings also have the
same focus. The focus of the paintings is the princess and her maids of honor. In
Diego ValГЎzquez s painting, the princess and her maids of honor are towards the
front and in the center, and the same is made apparent in Pablo Picasso s rendition.
Finally, you can see the building in which the paintings are taken place in both of
them. It is very obvious in Diego ValГЎzquez s painting, put a little less so in Pablo
Picasso s painting. There is a difference in color from brown to black towards the
bottom of Pablo Picasso s painting. Since the floor in Diego ValГЎzquez s painting is
clearly and brightly shown as brown but the walls are darker, the same is shown in
Pablo Picasso s rendition.Diego ValГЎzquez s Las Meninas and Pablo Picasso s
rendition of it are also different in several ways. Firstly, ValГ

both paintings. In Diego
ValГЎzquez s painting, he painted himself on the left side painting on a canvas.
This is not seen in Pablo Picasso s rendition of the painting, because the only two
people seen are the princess and the maid of honor kneeling next to her. Secondly,
other people are not shown in both of the paintings. In Diego ValГЎzquez s painting,

Cain became very jealous and envious of his younger brother, Abel. The motive of

Nonetheless, Cain s presented offering wasn t acceptable. Hence, an envious spirit

The Structural Inequality Between Men And Women
In this argumentative essay, I will be talking about the structural inequality between
men and women in a work place. I will argue that women should be able to excel and
reach the same high management position as a man.
Over several years, many industries have made significant changes in their work
environment to achieve equality between genders. When looking back on what
seems to be a societal norm, wage discrimination has always been in favour of men.
A main issue in the workplace is that women are often separated into job categories
to begin with. These categories are similar to groups who belong to a social status.
Jobs that are dominantly occupied by women tend to have lower incomes. Female
dominated occupations such as nurses, teachers, secretaries, etc. receive a lower
salary than male dominated jobs such as architects, pilots, engineers, etc. This
automatically separates the majority of women in the work force in a low valued
job. However, the equality between men and women is still problematic and is not
given as much attention as it should. This inequality is an ethical issue because
women are making less money than men because of their gender. Wage discrimination
exists when both men and women are equally as capable and qualified to conquer a
job that was assigned to them, however just because men are the dominant sex,
women are disadvantaged. Women are often stereotyped as being more emotionally
incline than men. (CITATION p.82) Therefore, anything that is not

Space Exploration Exploring space is one of the most complicated and
extraordinary project scientists are currently working on because of the technology
used and health risks. On October 4, 1957, the Soviets launched the first artificial
satellite, Sputnik 1, into space (aerospace). This sparked scientist to send satellites
to space. Shortly after, the United States sent its first satellite, Explorer 1, into orbit.
Since then there have been more than 130 space shuttle missions. One reason why
exploring space can be so difficult is because of space travel. The first space shuttle

Jonmarc Rasberry Dr. Rodriguez First Year Seminar 11 16 15 The road to success
is never an easy path to take. However, adventuring down that road makes the
journey worth all the obstacles that come your way. Everyone has had obstacles
come their way and each individual s mentality is how they will react to certain
situations. Some individuals choose to fight and work hard for a better outcome
of their life. However, others let life overwhelm them and let life get the best of
them. Most individuals choose to flee when times and events becoming
challenging. John D Rockefeller could have been overwhelmed and discouraged
by some the events in his life. In spite of that, he used the negativity and challenges
in his life to become one of the richest people in history, one of the richest men in
his time era, and a man with a great vision for his business and himself. Before
approaching all of Rockefeller s internal and external struggles/obstacles, let s talk
about his background and the basic overview of where Rockefeller came from. He
was born in a town named Richford. This small town was located in New York, more
specifically, it was more around the lower middle portion of New York. He was the
son of William Avery and Eliza Davison Rockefeller. He was also a brother to
William Rockefeller, his brother, and Lucy Rockefeller, his sister. His family moved
to the Cleveland, Ohio, area, where he began work as an assistant bookkeeper for a
produce merchant at age
Keeping Wild Animals In Captivity Research Paper
It is often thought by society that keeping wild animals in captivity is a cruel act to
commit. However, some may argue keeping these captive animals, such as orcas,
is an exciting learning experience for people of all ages. In reality, retaining orcas
can do serious effect on their mental and physical health. Professionals can testify
that many orcas grow irritable and develop vicious behavior. The orcas should be
free in order to stabilize their mental health, maintain social interaction with other
orcas, and to decrease their high mortality rate. On good authority, it is claimed the
orcas of SeaWorld have become a danger to their trainers, according to Tierney,
aggression, both among the whales and towards trainers, is of concern to
researchers . In 2010, Tilikum the performing orca killed former trainer Dawn
Brancheau by drowning her in front of an audience. Researchers predict the reason
for Tilikum s bizarre outbreak was because he had grown frustrated. Many of the
orcas have been seen with cuts and scars from... Show more content on

This shows the orcas are not stable to live in the facilities such as SeaWorld.
Merely because wild orcas are not meant to live in compact tanks. In conclusion,
the more orcas that parish, the more negative attention SeaWorld receives from the
public. This and other evidence supports the claim that captive orcas have a higher
mortality rate. All in all, keeping the orcas captive interferes with their mental
health, social interactions, and mortality. The result of an orca s mental health cost
a life of a human. Secondly, parting an orca from their pod can cause the orca to
grow lonesome and board. Lastly, keeping these animals at SeaWorld creates a
higher rate of morality. It is wrong to detain orcas in any facility for any
Homeland Security Reflection
At this time last week, before beginning the graduate program, my understanding
of homeland security was largely informed by the media and popular culture. After
reading the assignments and the lecture this week, I can certainly say that my
initial ideas have been challenged and expanded upon. Right away the most
important idea I learned is that homeland security deals with much more than just
terrorism. Prior to this class I never would have considered something like
Hurricane Harvey an issue of homeland security. My initial views on homeland
security were similar to the Department of Homeland Security s in the early 2000s
as noted by Bullock: Prior to 9/11, the majority of FEMA s efforts and funding
were focused on the mitigation of, preparedness for, response to, and recovery
from natural disasters. Much of this changed with the establishment of DHS.
Many, if not all, of the grant programs established within the new DHS focused on
terrorism. FEMA programs and funding were diverted or reduced to support
terrorism. The all hazards concept was not embraced in the early years of DHS.
(Bullock, 2016, p. 5) In addition to this, I generally associated the idea of homeland
security with threats from terror groups and not other nations. I m not sure what I
would have considered a threat from another nation, such as Russia or North Korea,
but in my mind homeland security dealt with groups like ISIS and the Taliban only.
Essentially, I saw the Department of Homeland Security as dealing with outside
threats from terrorist groups. I had always thought that things natural disasters and
recovery efforts were dealt with by the Department of Health and Human Services
or the Department of the Interior, and that threats from foreign nations would be
dealt with by the State Department or the Department of Defense. In particular, I
didn t fully understand the place of FEMA in the Department of Homeland
Security. Bellavita (2010) helped to clarify why it was placed there in his article
stating, Homeland security originally was intended to prevent terrorism. Including
FEMA in DHS was largely an afterthought. But now that several years have passed
since the decision was made, it seems like it would be too disruptive to unmake
Brooklyn Nine-Nine Analysis
Mocking Slice of Work Life Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine are both
award winning television comedies. Both series were created by Michael Schur
and Dan Goor. However, while Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine are
both mockumentary styled television shows, they differ in a variety of aspects. To
begin, Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine share similar character
dynamics but differ in job requirements. Similarly, Parks and Recreation and
Brooklyn Nine Nine carry an optimistic outlook yet use different comedic devices.
Despite both series having similar settings the editing is strikingly different. In spite
of Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine s common co creators, the shows
are not exactly the same. The character dynamics in both these series are similar;
however, the characters have different job requirements. For example, Captain Holt
and Rosa have a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As explained in the paragraphs above, Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine
Nine differ. The characters in Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine
occupy different jobs, and the level of danger in their job are different.
Furthermore, their comedic devices are also very different from one another.
Finally, their editing is almost nothing alike. Whenever a popular content creator
or creators in this case move onto a new piece of content, it is common for people
to see that new content and compare it to the one they have seen before. This
process leads to disgruntled fans, whether the content creators succeeded in
creating a new piece that is unlike their past work or not. And because old ideas
and methods are recycled in every piece of work, it is easy for someone who is not
very analytical when viewing television to assume after a few episodes that
Brooklyn Nine Nine is the same show with different actors and jobs. However, this is

Reflection Of A Watcher In The Classroom
For this lesson I started with having the students gather in the library in order to read
the story to them. The students have a word watcher that they use when they are
reading their books. The word watcher is a plastic candy cane and I used that for this
lesson to activate prior knowledge. I held up the candy cane and asked the students
what they see. I had some students comment that there is a red strip on the candy
cane. The students also noticed a white strip, and then they noticed that the red and
white create a pattern. I asked where is the pattern on the candy cane, and they
showed that the red and white strips move continually up the candy cane, it just
continues in a swirling motion. The students also commented on how if you turn...

I kept the candy canes until the art lesson. I placed the candy canes on each student s
desk before the students came back from recess. This allowed the students to get to
the lesson right away. I did have them get out their scissors and liquid glue. Once
the students had everything out, I told them to hold their hands up so I could see
that they were ready. I used this classroom management strategy so that I could
clearly see who was ready. I had created a candy cane so that I could do the activity
with the students so they could clearly see what needed to be done. I started by
having the students cut the red strips. It was interesting to see how students did
this. Some would cut straight across, and some students would have cuts that were
slanted. As the students were cutting I was walking around and was commenting
and how their candy canes were looking so far. I had the students place all the red
pieces on the white candy cane. Once most students were finished I told them to
take off every other red strip. I told the students that it is really important for the
element of space that you leave the red pieces where they where. This will add the
element of line into our candy cane. After that I had the students glue down the
pieces. Once the pieces were glued on I had the students take the brown square and
cut out a circle for the head. Then the students were told to put eyes and a mouth on
the circle. It was very interesting to see
The Effect Of Dehydration Of Cyclohexene
In this experiment, dehydration is carried out using cyclohexanol to obtain
cyclohexene. This acid catalysed reaction involves E1 elimination mechanism. The
dehydration of alcohol will remove OH from cyclohexanol to form cyclohexene.
Cyclohexene contains a single double bond in the molecule. It is a six carbon
aromatic hydrocarbon. Phosphoric acidis mixed with cyclohexanol in the round
bottomed flask and is heated. The phosphoric acid act as a catalyst that increases
the rate of reaction but it does not change the overall stoichiometry. The acid
catalyst will convert the hydroxyl group into a good leaving group. It is an
equilibrium reaction in which the equilibrium is forced to the right (alkene).

E1 reaction is a two step mechanism which includes the protonation of hydroxyl
group and the formation of carbocation intermediate (rate determining step).
Questions:
1. Dehydration of cyclohexanol gives cyclohexene. Draw mechanism for the reaction.
2. What alkene(s) will be produced when each of the following alcohols is
dehydrated?
a) t butyl alcohol CH3CH3 CH3 COHCH3C = CH2 + H2O CH3 Ans: 2 methyl 1

b) 3 methylcyclohexanol
Ans: 1 methylcyclohexene, 3 methylcyclohexene and 4 methylcyclohexene.
3. The dehydration of 3,3 dimethyl 2 butanol yields three different products. Write
equations to show how carbocation rearrangements explain two of the products.
Ans: A secondary carbocation is formed initially, it then rearranges to a tertiary
carbocation when a neighbouring methyl group with its bonding electron pair
migrates to the positive carbon. The charge is transferred to the tertiary
The Rebirth Of Ancient Cultures
Teresa Fang
Professor Moore
Humanities 310

The Rebirth of Ancient Cultures in Renaissance Florence Florence, Italy is known as
the cradle of the Renaissance (la culla del Rinascimento). It is a city full of beautiful
architecture, art, and history. The Renaissance was a powerful cultural movement
that not only shaped all aspects of Florentine life, but eventually the rest of Europe.
Science, art, literature, philosophy, religion, architecture, and politics have seen
heavy influences by this movement. The term Renaissance literally means rebirth :
the rebirth of man and the rebirth of two important ancient cultures, Greek and
Roman, which had been lost with the beginning of the Middle Ages in Western
history. Florence was very prosperous during the late Middle Ages, next to Venice and
Milan. It was the birthplace of many important thinkers, artists, architects, and
political figures who led the Renaissance. Along with the birth of the philosophy of
humanism, the rebirth of ancient Greek and Roman cultures were driven by a
revived interest in ancient thought, the advances in literature, the emphasis of human
based ideals in the arts, and the influence of the papacy and the Holy Roman Empire
upon the Florentine government. Italian thinkers had an interest in the ways that
ancient Greeks and Romans thought, a driving force of the Renaissance. It was the
Florentines who first set out to rediscover the glorious past of these cultures. They
strongly believed
Bridges To Success Summer Program
I believe the Bridges to Success Summer program is a great opportunity for me and
provides me with the chance to do what my parents never got to accomplish. They
have always encouraged me to do my best in high school, so that one day I could go
on to college and further my education in order to achieve my goals. I am certain that
this program will guide me in the right direction and will help me to be successful.
One of the biggest challenges in my life that I had to overcome was not having my
dad around for the past 4 years. When I was 14 years old my dad was incarcerated. I
really looked up to my dad. He was my biggest role model. At a younger age, my
brother and I used to fight over who was most like him. During my early teenage
years, my dad... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

with the thought of my dad anymore. This was a great way to occupy my time. I
then began to open up and started meeting a lot of new friends. A few of the
wrestlers on the team later became my best friends. I did not only gain friends from
wrestling, but my coaches became my roles models. They were such an
encouragement and I was able to talk to them about anything. I was no longer sad,
school became something I looked forward to each day. My coaches taught me
how important it was to make goals for myself and to be the best person I could
possibly be. My first two goals were to maintain a GPA above a 3.0 and to win JV
states as a freshman. I ended accomplishing both my goals by the end of freshman
year and it was the best feeling in the world. The next year I was expected to win
1st place again, but I ended up losing in my final match. This was just another
setback, which really discouraged me, but my coaches were there for me every step
of the way. They helped me to realize that there is no such thing as failure there are

My Last Duchess Diction
My Last Duchess in itself is a Victorian reflection on Renaissance Italy. It explores
societal schemas which permeated both aristocratic societies extensively, such as
societal entitlement and a narcissistic and oppressive attitude. Browning takes this to
a deeper level by exploring these temperaments in the speaker; the Dukeof Ferrara.
This is achieved through the use of structure and syntax to provide insight into the
psyche of the speaker by insinuating and presenting the real ideology of the speaker
through the development of a societal interaction. Browning employs thematic
progression lead by the speaker delivered through a dramatic monologue, forced
sentences of genuine nature, and the use of vivid imagery and syntax to create such...

One can imagine the messenger standing up and bolting towards the stairs, to warn
his master of the dark intentions of the Duke, only to be abruptly halted. This is a
clear example of his controlling nature and provides insight into the oppressive
nature of the Duke. The Duke is so narcissistic and oppressive the he feels entitled to
express his darkest attributes and still maintain his social and political status through
subtle yet blunt manipulation. This is reflected in the structure of the poem through
the use of a dramatic monologue; where the Duke commands the conversion and
guides it where he wants to go, forcing his thoughts onto the audience and drawing
focus only to what he desires. This mentality of oppression is further reflected in the
diction and syntax that is used; where the Duke uses phrases to control the
individual in a seemingly polite way. This view is shared by Joshua Adler in his
article Structure and Meaning in Browning s My Last Duchess .
Throughout the interview the Duke is, in effect, manipulating his guest as if he were
a puppet sit down, stand up, look at this, notice that and his manner is indicative of
his whole attitude to life, for in the main body of the monologue the same habits are
revealed as in the double frame. The structure of the poem thus corresponds perfectly
to its content: just as the monologue is cramped in and the listener held down, so had
the Duke attempted to confine his wife within the bounds imposed by his inflexible
will. (Adler
The Price Of Inequality By Joseph E. Stiglitz
In chapter one of Joseph E. Stiglitz, book; The Price of Inequality:How today s
Divided Society Endangers Our future. He talks about America s one percent
Problem in which he includes the 2007 2008 financial crisis and the Great
Recession America went through that affected millions of American families. As a
result a lot of families lost their homes, lifetime savings, and jobs. During the Great
Recession the middle aged people were greatly affected as many were straight out
of college with a lot of debt on them that they could not pay off because jobs were
so scared making it very difficult to find employment. Many families who had lost
their jobs, and homes had to move in with family members or friends in order to be
able to survive this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As said before many people lost their homes, earning and jobs, which lead to a lot
of homelessness. Stiglitz portrays this through the following statistics, Full time
employment declined by 8.7 million from November 2007 to November 2011,40 a
period during which normally almost 7 million new persons would have entered the
labor force. People worked in jobs that did not offer them insurance,so if they got
hurt the employer was not responsible for it, and with unemployment those people
who did have insurance, lost their insurance so if they were sick they could not get
treated because they did not have money. As a consequence, there was economic
insecurity, meaning that many people had to go into their retirement savings in order
to pay for things, while others completely lost all their retirement saving when they
lost their jobs. Thus causing people s standard of living to decline as times were so
hard and money was very hard to obtain. During this time people were not getting
married, or moving out of their parents home, in addition, many women had to start
working in order to help maintain the household.Poverty was seen during this to a
massive extent , there was people surviving with one or two dollars a
The Chapter Wandering Rocks
The chapter Wandering Rocks is unique in multiple ways just as how it has
multiple character perspectives. It took me a second to figure out that the words
wandering rocks actually correlate to Ulysses (as in the book we are reading), and
the character Ulysses in the Odyssey. Ulysses, Joyce s novel, correlates to
wandering rocks as in the chapter, Wandering Rocks , the reader has a taste of
Leopold s journey from different characterperspectives. For example, when the
character Ned Lambert said, bring the camera whenever you like. I ll get those
bags cleared away from the window. You can take it from here or from here (Ep.
10. 420 3), the word camera acted a vehicle of visual perception from different
angles. And, the phrase you can
is Brutus justified to kill JC
Brutus argued that Caesar should be killed because he was quickly gaining power.
They were afraid that this power would corrupt him and lead him to do future harms.
Brutus even believed that Caesar at the time of his death had not done anything to
warrant his death. Although Brutus killed Julius Caesar for the right reason, it is still
unjustified to killan innocent man for what he had not done.
Political assassination is justified depending on the circumstances. If the leader is
good to the people, does everything for his country, and fights for the country, even if
a potential threat, the assassination would not be justified. But if the leader was
harming the people, did not care about the harming the people, did not care about the

Cold Pack Investigation
Extended Experimental Investigation
Cold Pack
Year 12 Chemistry
Abstract: Cold packs are based on the principle of endothermic reactions, which
means a reaction that absorbs heat from the surrounding resulting in a temperature
drop. Due to this temperature drop, cold packs have many benefits when it comes to
injuries such as sprains and strains. It cools the local tissue and reduces bleeding,
swelling and pain. It also aids in a speedy recovery. The most commonly used
chemical in instant cold packs is ammonium nitrate which will be tested in the
investigation along with four other chemicals in water. These other chemicals include
potassium nitrate, potassium chloride, sodium acetate and sodium chloride. The ...

To ensure this does not occur it is recommended that the ice pack is wrapped in
something such as a towel to create a barrier between the skin and the pack. It is
also recommended that the pack does not stay on for longer than 20 minutes and to
allow the skin to recovery between treatment a 1 2 hour break be is necessary. It is
said that the safest temperature for treatment ranges between 7 11В°C8,9. Therefore
to create an effective instant cold pack it must reach between 7 11В°C and stay at a
reasonable temperature for 20 minutes.
Aim:
To design and create an effective instant cold pack by using selected chemicals to
produce an endothermic reaction. The reaction is required to produce cold enough
temperatures to support an injury and remain cold over a period of time. To be
classified as an effective instant cold pack it needs to remain at a reasonable
temperature (safely regulated output: 7 11В°C) for 20 minutes. 10,11
Hypothesis:
It was hypothesised that ammonium nitrate would generate and remain at the lowest
temperature out of the five different chosen chemicals. This was supposed as various
sources suggested ammonium nitrate as a common instant cold pack ingredient;
however, the concentration and chemical to water ratio required was unknown. 12

The Quality Of Language Input And Early Onset Effects
On...
The two previous studies exemplify that the quality of language input and early
onset has significant effects on linguistic and sub linguistic mechanisms. It calls
into question whether input quality is predictive of later sign language skills in
deaf education program settings. In spoken languages, the quality and quantity of
language input is predictive of a child s later linguistic abilities (Cartmill et al.,
2013). However, most deaf children entering education have hearing parents,
creating a barrier to language development. Many deaf programs support bilingual
philosophies in which the basis of English is also taught in order to facilitate
communication between the deaf and non deaf communities (Murphy Swiller,
2014). Leah Nicole Murphy Swiller (2014) investigates input quality within deaf
education settings using American Sign Language (ASL). She hypothesizes that
deaf participants learning language through slightly different modalities will differ
in their ASL receptive skills and their comprehension of English grammar
knowledge, even after educational instruction. This is done by comparing
approximately one hundred and forty nine 4 and 5 year old deaf children at
schools in 26 states across the United States of America. The deaf children are
divided into three groups: those with ASL as their first language (L1), English as
their L1, and those who spoke a sign supported English. These groups are compared
to a control group of same aged hearing peers. All children
Reflection Of Political Science
Political science is a broad topic that covers the history, political and geographical
aspect of the world. The course started with a revision on the basics of the
constitution, types of power and the political scene that happens around us. My first
year at the University, one of the compulsory subject that is required for arts taking
students is Political Science 1101. After several years of taking social or political
course, taking this course opened my knowledge towards politics and the political
scene in Canada. It also taught me about how different ways of information taking
could lead to one learning differently from others. For example this class gave us the
opportunity to use our laptops as a source of note taking, this helped me learn in
which whenever a new vocabulary comes up during the class discussions i could
search it up. Through The Road to Patriation and Kim Campbell Through the Looking
Glass i would further emphasize my ideas on what i have learnt throughout the course
semester.
The concepts provided in the documentary The Road To Patriation was about the
disagreement between the federal and provincial government of Canada on what to
do with their constitution and how they would agree on a formula to bring back the
Canadian Constitution from England. After the failure of five prime ministers and
several conferences Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau took up the challenge of bringing
back the constitution in early 1970 alongside with his Justice Minister

The narrator alternates between father and son and is mostly conversations and thoughts. The story is basically based on the relationship between the son and the father and you do not get much told from the past. However there is told, that the son has been in London, which is clear because the father says he has not heard from his son for two years, and talks about reading about London in the papers and seeing scenes from London on the news. The atmosphere is always pressured between the father and son and none of them sleeps at night. They used to be close to talk, laugh and do a lot of things together among them, go fishing. Now the son is very stuffy and shares nothing with his father, he doesn t tell him where he goes, not even when the father asks. The son s anger and bad relationship with the father is obvious by his way of act, thinking and talking to his father. He shouts and calls him a nosey old bastard and an old woman that cries (page 116, line 10) (page 115, line 3 4). The father is calmer he loves his son very much but he is worried and frustrated about his son. He miss the time when they could do anything together, he want his son to talk to him the way he hear him talk to the people in the door, want to laugh with him and know what he is thinking. One day after an ordinary quarrel the father would go up to apologize, when he opens the door he sees his son pushing a gun under the pillow and when he asks what is his son shouts, It s non of your fucking business (page 116, line 13) and slamming the door in the head of his father. The father imagine that he did not see what he saw, hoping he is
  • 3. The Life and Poetry of Bret Harte Authors, a lot of them surround us today, they are the person who enhances our imagination, or gives existence to anything that is plain and different. In American history, there were a number of poets and authors who rose to popularity. They changed people s outlook on everything, and added a great amount of different things in American literature. Throughout this time, there were a couple of great poets and authors who helped create the local color school in American fiction. One poet who helped in this movement was Bret Harte. It was also here where he shared short stories and poems for the journal, the Golden Era. While working here, he started signing his works as Bret or The Bohemian. His life at this stage was somewhat a repeat of what his childhood was, living measly, since he was only receiving a small amount of income. Harte was very much against racism, and these feelings gave him reason to write poems entitled as Plain Language from Truthful James . Even though he considered this to be the worst poems I ever wrote , it got a different response from the people around the world: they loved it! The poems had a negative outcome because it started a racial turmoil in California against the Chinese. However, in time, he learned how to please the readers by giving them what they wanted to read and not what they needed to read. Before, racism was a huge issue, nobody liked other races because then do not have the same color of skin. People always wanted to have a higher authority over the others, the whites were considered the powerful authority at that time. In 1860, he started writing stories with the theme of Escape and Illusions. He was considered a very talented humorist because he can turn a completely boring thing in to something everyone would enjoy. With his talent in writing, he won national acclaim and from then on,

Naipaul and is family believed themselves to be the descendants of Hindu Brahmin, though they did not observe many of the practices and restrictions common to Brahmins in India. The family gradually stopped speaking Indian languages and spoke English at home. On October 30, 1990 Mr. Naipaul gave a lecture on Our Universal Civilization. Western values of tolerance, individualism, equality, and personal liberty have given birth were discussed. He describes the personal and philosophical confusion of those who find themselves torn between their native civilizations and the valued of universal civilization. Also throughout Our Universal Civilization, Naipaul argues that the strength of the West lies precisely in its intellectual diffidence. He contrasts the West with Islam. These often reject Western ideals yet accepts the fruits of Western progress. Naipaul mentions two of its fundamental precepts: the Golden Rule and the pursuit of happiness. Planned Parenthood Case Summary Introduction With repeated threats from Congress to defund Planned Parenthood and multiple states passing restrictive laws, reproductive rights and abortion in particular continue to be increasingly under attack in the United States. In 1973, the Supreme Court ruled in Roe v. This means that by law, women have the right to get abortions without facing unnecessary restrictions. According to Roe v. This case will decide whether strict abortion laws in the state of Texas are constitutional or not. The challengers to these laws argue they place an undue burden on women seeking abortion, which goes against the decision of Planned Parenthood v. Casey. States all over the country enforce strict laws on women seeking abortions, but Texas has some of the toughest restrictions. Texas only has six clinics that meet these tough restrictions, which means some women would have to travel hundreds of miles just to get an abortion. In addition, 28 states require women seeking abortions to wait for at least 24 hours and up to 72 hours after receiving counseling to actually get the abortion. According to the Guttmacher Institute, these waiting periods effectively require the woman make two separate trips to the clinic to obtain the procedure in 14 states. Although the Supreme Court will rule on the Texas laws soon, passing a bill in Congress to make it illegal for federal, state, and local governments to restrict a woman s right to abortion would once and for all protect a woman s privacy and right to

Embezzlement, A Costly White Collar Crime Essay Embezzlement, A Costly White Collar Crime When an employer hires a new employee, they expect that employee to perform the work that is asked of them so that they can receive a paycheck. Often, employees are promoted to positions of trust within the company. These positions enable dishonest employees to commit criminal acts against the company for their own personal gain. One of the most common crimes they commit is embezzlement. Embezzlement occurs when a person in a position of trust takes or misappropriates funds that they have been entrusted with and converts them for their own benefit. This was what happened in Dixon, Illinois in 2012 that resulted in a $53.7 million dollar loss to the city. The comptroller at the time, Rita Crundwell, embezzled the money to fund her own horse breeding operation along with extravagant gifts for herself. Crundwell was charged in 2012 and plead guilty to wire fraud. Crundwell as sentenced to 20 years in prison for this crime. The crime of embezzlement is considered a white collar crime as it is a nonviolent crime that is committed by a person for their own financial gain. When a person commits embezzlement, they do not physically harm another person, although they cause them to suffer some sort of financial loss due to the theft they have committed. Those that commit embezzlement are usually in the career of some sort of business and hold a position that they have access or control over some type of financials for the company or clients.

Dr. Bernard, Canada s Nine Non Partisan Senators Introduction In October 2016, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau named Nova Scotia s Wanda Thomas Bernard as one of Canada s nine non partisan senators (Williams, 2016). According to Semansky (2016), Dr. Bernard, who serves as the university s special advisor, diversity and inclusiveness, [is] the first African Nova Scotian woman to serve in the Senate Chamber (para. 2). In response to the news, Bernard has stated that equity for all is [her] primary goal in life. To be able to enter the Senate with that perspective and contribute to the country is an incredible privilege, one that [she] knows [she] will be accountable for (Semansky, 2016, para. 7). While Trudeau has named diversity as a priority within the Canadian Parliament,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this section, I will briefly discuss the effects of Trudeau s Senate reforms and argue that reform is better than abolishment. Trudeau s three phased Senate reforms give minority group leaders an opportunity to represent their communities. The reforms attempt to shift the focus from gaining support for the Liberal party, to a collection of different and diverse minds within the Senate. The first phase of the reforms focused on the [removal of] all senators from the national Liberal caucus , which inherently suggested that senators [no longer] have formal or organic ties with the Liberal caucus, nor do they have any organizational, financial or other formal responsibilities within the Liberal Party (Dion, 2015, para. 5). Going from there, the [creation of] a new, nonpartisan, merit based, broad and diverse process to advise the prime minister on Senate appointments was the second item on the agenda (Dion, 2015, para. 6). Finally, the third phase targeted the inclusion of marginalized groups, such as women and minorities, in the Senate (Dion, 2015). Therefore, Trudeau s appointments are changing the direction of the Senate to include historically oppressed minorities and their representatives. That being stated, one particular argument that has been raised in opposition to Senate reforms is that the upper house is no longer relevant and should be abolished (Maclean s, 2013). Diego ValГЎzquez s Las Meninas has inspired artists to make several renditions, admiring it. Pablo Picasso, in particular, has made over 50 renditions of Las Meninas . Pablo Picasso s rendition shown at the top of the page (right) is only one of his recreations of Las Meninas , made in 1957 . There are many similarities and differences between both the original and Pablo Picasso s rendition of Las Meninas , as well as several reasons why they made the paintings and what the artists were trying to portray.Diego ValГ Ўzquez s Las Meninas and Pablo Picasso s rendition of it are similar in several ways. First, both paintings share some of the same objects. The princess, infantana margarita, is in the center of both paintings. Secondly, there is a maid of honor (a royal servant) kneeling to the left side of the princess in both paintings. Thirdly, both of the paintings also have the same focus. The focus of the paintings is the princess and her maids of honor. In Diego ValГЎzquez s painting, the princess and her maids of honor are towards the front and in the center, and the same is made apparent in Pablo Picasso s rendition. Finally, you can see the building in which the paintings are taken place in both of them. It is very obvious in Diego ValГЎzquez s painting, put a little less so in Pablo Picasso s painting. There is a difference in color from brown to black towards the bottom of Pablo Picasso s painting. Since the floor in Diego ValГЎzquez s painting is clearly and brightly shown as brown but the walls are darker, the same is shown in Pablo Picasso s rendition.Diego ValГЎzquez s Las Meninas and Pablo Picasso s rendition of it are also different in several ways. Firstly, ValГ Ўzquez is not shown in both paintings. In Diego ValГЎzquez s painting, he painted himself on the left side painting on a canvas. This is not seen in Pablo Picasso s rendition of the painting, because the only two people seen are the princess and the maid of honor kneeling next to her. Abel s offering to God was from the yield of the first fruit of his flock. Cain also provided a worship offering to God. Nonetheless, Cain s presented offering wasn t acceptable. • 38. The Structural Inequality Between Men And Women In this argumentative essay, I will be talking about the structural inequality between men and women in a work place. I will argue that women should be able to excel and reach the same high management position as a man. Over several years, many industries have made significant changes in their work environment to achieve equality between genders. When looking back on what seems to be a societal norm, wage discrimination has always been in favour of men. A main issue in the workplace is that women are often separated into job categories to begin with. These categories are similar to groups who belong to a social status. Jobs that are dominantly occupied by women tend to have lower incomes. Female dominated occupations such as nurses, teachers, secretaries, etc. receive a lower salary than male dominated jobs such as architects, pilots, engineers, etc. This automatically separates the majority of women in the work force in a low valued job. However, the equality between men and women is still problematic and is not given as much attention as it should. This inequality is an ethical issue because women are making less money than men because of their gender. Wage discrimination exists when both men and women are equally as capable and qualified to conquer a job that was assigned to them, however just because men are the dominant sex, women are disadvantaged. Women are often stereotyped as being more emotionally incline than men. (CITATION p.82) Therefore, anything that is not

  • 43. Homeland Security Reflection At this time last week, before beginning the graduate program, my understanding of homeland security was largely informed by the media and popular culture. After reading the assignments and the lecture this week, I can certainly say that my initial ideas have been challenged and expanded upon. Right away the most important idea I learned is that homeland security deals with much more than just terrorism. Prior to this class I never would have considered something like Hurricane Harvey an issue of homeland security. My initial views on homeland security were similar to the Department of Homeland Security s in the early 2000s as noted by Bullock: Prior to 9/11, the majority of FEMA s efforts and funding were focused on the mitigation of, preparedness for, response to, and recovery from natural disasters. Much of this changed with the establishment of DHS. Many, if not all, of the grant programs established within the new DHS focused on terrorism. FEMA programs and funding were diverted or reduced to support terrorism. The all hazards concept was not embraced in the early years of DHS. (Bullock, 2016, p. 5) In addition to this, I generally associated the idea of homeland security with threats from terror groups and not other nations. I m not sure what I would have considered a threat from another nation, such as Russia or North Korea, but in my mind homeland security dealt with groups like ISIS and the Taliban only. Essentially, I saw the Department of Homeland Security as dealing with outside threats from terrorist groups. I had always thought that things natural disasters and recovery efforts were dealt with by the Department of Health and Human Services or the Department of the Interior, and that threats from foreign nations would be dealt with by the State Department or the Department of Defense. In particular, I didn t fully understand the place of FEMA in the Department of Homeland Security. Bellavita (2010) helped to clarify why it was placed there in his article stating, Homeland security originally was intended to prevent terrorism. Including FEMA in DHS was largely an afterthought. But now that several years have passed since the decision was made, it seems like it would be too disruptive to unmake

It is a city full of beautiful architecture, art, and history. The Renaissance was a powerful cultural movement that not only shaped all aspects of Florentine life, but eventually the rest of Europe. Science, art, literature, philosophy, religion, architecture, and politics have seen heavy influences by this movement. The term Renaissance literally means rebirth : the rebirth of man and the rebirth of two important ancient cultures, Greek and Roman, which had been lost with the beginning of the Middle Ages in Western history. Florence was very prosperous during the late Middle Ages, next to Venice and Milan. It was the birthplace of many important thinkers, artists, architects, and political figures who led the Renaissance. Along with the birth of the philosophy of humanism, the rebirth of ancient Greek and Roman cultures were driven by a revived interest in ancient thought, the advances in literature, the emphasis of human based ideals in the arts, and the influence of the papacy and the Holy Roman Empire upon the Florentine government. Italian thinkers had an interest in the ways that ancient Greeks and Romans thought, a driving force of the Renaissance. It explores societal schemas which permeated both aristocratic societies extensively, such as societal entitlement and a narcissistic and oppressive attitude. Browning takes this to a deeper level by exploring these temperaments in the speaker; the Dukeof Ferrara. This is achieved through the use of structure and syntax to provide insight into the psyche of the speaker by insinuating and presenting the real ideology of the speaker through the development of a societal interaction. Browning employs thematic progression lead by the speaker delivered through a dramatic monologue, forced sentences of genuine nature, and the use of vivid imagery and syntax to create such... This is a clear example of his controlling nature and provides insight into the oppressive nature of the Duke. The Duke is so narcissistic and oppressive the he feels entitled to express his darkest attributes and still maintain his social and political status through subtle yet blunt manipulation. This is reflected in the structure of the poem through the use of a dramatic monologue; where the Duke commands the conversion and guides it where he wants to go, forcing his thoughts onto the audience and drawing focus only to what he desires. This mentality of oppression is further reflected in the diction and syntax that is used; where the Duke uses phrases to control the individual in a seemingly polite way. This view is shared by Joshua Adler in his article Structure and Meaning in Browning s My Last Duchess . Throughout the interview the Duke is, in effect, manipulating his guest as if he were a puppet sit down, stand up, look at this, notice that and his manner is indicative of his whole attitude to life, for in the main body of the monologue the same habits are revealed as in the double frame. The structure of the poem thus corresponds perfectly to its content: just as the monologue is cramped in and the listener held down, so had the Duke attempted to confine his wife within the bounds imposed by his inflexible will. Stiglitz portrays this through the following statistics, Full time employment declined by 8.7 million from November 2007 to November 2011,40 a period during which normally almost 7 million new persons would have entered the labor force. People worked in jobs that did not offer them insurance,so if they got hurt the employer was not responsible for it, and with unemployment those people who did have insurance, lost their insurance so if they were sick they could not get treated because they did not have money. As a consequence, there was economic insecurity, meaning that many people had to go into their retirement savings in order to pay for things, while others completely lost all their retirement saving when they lost their jobs. Thus causing people s standard of living to decline as times were so hard and money was very hard to obtain. During this time people were not getting married, or moving out of their parents home, in addition, many women had to start working in order to help maintain the household.Poverty was seen during this to a massive extent , there was people surviving with one or two dollars a
  • 51. The Chapter Wandering Rocks The chapter Wandering Rocks is unique in multiple ways just as how it has multiple character perspectives. It took me a second to figure out that the words wandering rocks actually correlate to Ulysses (as in the book we are reading), and the character Ulysses in the Odyssey. Ulysses, Joyce s novel, correlates to wandering rocks as in the chapter, Wandering Rocks , the reader has a taste of Leopold s journey from different characterperspectives. For example, when the character Ned Lambert said, bring the camera whenever you like. I ll get those bags cleared away from the window. You can take it from here or from here (Ep. 10. 420 3), the word camera acted a vehicle of visual perception from different angles. And, the phrase you can
  • 52. is Brutus justified to kill JC Brutus argued that Caesar should be killed because he was quickly gaining power. They were afraid that this power would corrupt him and lead him to do future harms. Brutus even believed that Caesar at the time of his death had not done anything to warrant his death. Although Brutus killed Julius Caesar for the right reason, it is still unjustified to killan innocent man for what he had not done. Political assassination is justified depending on the circumstances. If the leader is good to the people, does everything for his country, and fights for the country, even if a potential threat, the assassination would not be justified. But if the leader was harming the people, did not care about the harming the people, did not care about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... About two months later, James Earl Ray was arrested and accused of assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. All these men above died from what they believe and were making progress to their countries, now these are the bad guys that get killed or got away. This is Hitler s assassination and considered the legendary murder in the 2nd World War. The field mission to assassinate Hitler as Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, a German nobleman. Stauffenberg is also the chief of the reserve forces in the Nazi army, but thought against Hitler. In fact, the plan to assassinate Hitler is prepared for a long time and is set to perform on July 20, 1944. According to the plan, Colonel Stauffenberg placed the bomb in Hitler s conference room, near the sitting position of the Nazi bosses. The bomb exploded shortly after when Colonel Stauffenberge leave the room, killing four people, but Hitler unharmed. The reason is, the oak desk where Hitler sat with special structural inadvertently reduce the impact of the bomb, saving Hitler. Immediately, the Nazi bosses conducting sweeps to hunt for mastermind. Colonel Stauffenberg and his hand in the assassination plan are inevitable tragic death. Even their family members were also arrested in the concentration camps and tortured to death. However, if the successful assassination, the Nazis would be overthrown. World War 2 as well so may end earlier than 10 years, saving millions of lives and the European political landscape will
  • 53. Cold Pack Investigation Extended Experimental Investigation Cold Pack Year 12 Chemistry Abstract: Cold packs are based on the principle of endothermic reactions, which means a reaction that absorbs heat from the surrounding resulting in a temperature drop. Due to this temperature drop, cold packs have many benefits when it comes to injuries such as sprains and strains. It cools the local tissue and reduces bleeding, swelling and pain. It also aids in a speedy recovery. The most commonly used chemical in instant cold packs is ammonium nitrate which will be tested in the investigation along with four other chemicals in water. These other chemicals include potassium nitrate, potassium chloride, sodium acetate and sodium chloride. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To ensure this does not occur it is recommended that the ice pack is wrapped in something such as a towel to create a barrier between the skin and the pack. It is also recommended that the pack does not stay on for longer than 20 minutes and to allow the skin to recovery between treatment a 1 2 hour break be is necessary. It is said that the safest temperature for treatment ranges between 7 11В°C8,9. Therefore to create an effective instant cold pack it must reach between 7 11В°C and stay at a reasonable temperature for 20 minutes. Aim: To design and create an effective instant cold pack by using selected chemicals to produce an endothermic reaction. The reaction is required to produce cold enough temperatures to support an injury and remain cold over a period of time. To be classified as an effective instant cold pack it needs to remain at a reasonable temperature (safely regulated output: 7 11В°C) for 20 minutes. 10,11 Hypothesis: It was hypothesised that ammonium nitrate would generate and remain at the lowest temperature out of the five different chosen chemicals. This was supposed as various sources suggested ammonium nitrate as a common instant cold pack ingredient; however, the concentration and chemical to water ratio required was unknown. 12 Materials: Safety glasses 5 x beakers Electronic scales Thermometer Spatula Measuring Cylinder Stopwatch Method: The various risks were taken into consideration and
  • 54. The Quality Of Language Input And Early Onset Effects On... The two previous studies exemplify that the quality of language input and early onset has significant effects on linguistic and sub linguistic mechanisms. It calls into question whether input quality is predictive of later sign language skills in deaf education program settings. In spoken languages, the quality and quantity of language input is predictive of a child s later linguistic abilities (Cartmill et al., 2013). However, most deaf children entering education have hearing parents, creating a barrier to language development. Many deaf programs support bilingual philosophies in which the basis of English is also taught in order to facilitate communication between the deaf and non deaf communities (Murphy Swiller, 2014). Leah Nicole Murphy Swiller (2014) investigates input quality within deaf education settings using American Sign Language (ASL). She hypothesizes that deaf participants learning language through slightly different modalities will differ in their ASL receptive skills and their comprehension of English grammar knowledge, even after educational instruction. This is done by comparing approximately one hundred and forty nine 4 and 5 year old deaf children at schools in 26 states across the United States of America. The deaf children are divided into three groups: those with ASL as their first language (L1), English as their L1, and those who spoke a sign supported English. These groups are compared to a control group of same aged hearing peers. All children
  • 55. Reflection Of Political Science Political science is a broad topic that covers the history, political and geographical aspect of the world. The course started with a revision on the basics of the constitution, types of power and the political scene that happens around us. My first year at the University, one of the compulsory subject that is required for arts taking students is Political Science 1101. After several years of taking social or political course, taking this course opened my knowledge towards politics and the political scene in Canada. It also taught me about how different ways of information taking could lead to one learning differently from others. For example this class gave us the opportunity to use our laptops as a source of note taking, this helped me learn in which whenever a new vocabulary comes up during the class discussions i could search it up. Through The Road to Patriation and Kim Campbell Through the Looking Glass i would further emphasize my ideas on what i have learnt throughout the course semester. The concepts provided in the documentary The Road To Patriation was about the disagreement between the federal and provincial government of Canada on what to do with their constitution and how they would agree on a formula to bring back the Canadian Constitution from England. After the failure of five prime ministers and several conferences Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau took up the challenge of bringing back the constitution in early 1970 alongside with his Justice Minister
