US Treasury Bonds and the National Debt
The U.S. Treasury bond is a low interest way for the government to borrow money. The bond, along
with Treasury notes and bills, form the Securities which the Federal government borrows from lenders
for a set amount of time. Issued by the Department of the Public Debt, a subset of the US Treasury,
they are usually issued in 30 year maturities which pay interest twice yearly. Because the debt
obligation is backed by the tax generating, money printing, and understandably trusted government of
the United States, bonds are generally considered to be a safe or virtually no risk investment. Thanks
to this low risk attribute however, bonds are regarded as very low yield security, which is exactly why
it is a good instrument for the United States government to employ, as long as it can turn a relatively
decent profit on the initial investment. According to the September 30th, 2014 report of Monthly
Statement of the Public Debt of the United States, the amount of Treasury Bonds outstanding totaled
$8,167,759 million, I ll call it roughly $8.2 trillion. This number composes the majority of the
combined $12.7 trillion of US Treasury securities outstanding. These securities outstanding are also

supposed to know who the book is by if it is not written on the book. Besides the title, having the
author s name is one of the most important elements of the book jacket. Along with that fault, there is
the fact that, in spite of all the good features of the cover, there is no alluring colors, it is just red and
black. Maybe, if you re someone who likes dark stories and murder mysteries then it ll allure you, but
in order to appeal to everyone, there needs to be more than just a black background with red China

could work for a horror story, but not a murder mystery. Maybe going through those series of events

first person narration is provided by the story s protagonist Earl via notes addressed to a you, which

There are times when doing the right thing can lead to bad consequences. For example, if your family
is about to be killed by a criminal and the only thing you can do to protect your family from being
murdered is to kill the person who is threatening them, you would feel it necessary to commit an evil
in order to prevent a greater misfortune. On the other hand, the actor in cases such as this faces a
moral dilemma of having to kill someone. This is where the Doctrine of Double Effect comes into
play. The Doctrine of Double Effect (DDE) is a principal which aims to provide specific guidelines for
determining when it is morally permissible to perform an action in the pursuit of a positive outcome
with the full knowledge that the action will also bring about an evil consequence. (Solomon, 2014).
Although the Doctrine of Double Effect is viewed as a positive theory by man, it is unjust in that it
gives people a justification to commit heinous acts if they merely claim that they intended some sort
of good outcome to result from their actions.
The Doctrine of Double Effect was first created by Thomas Aquinas. Aquinas believed that if you
killed someone who was attacking you, you were justified in this action because the individual who

Museum Visit and Reflection I had the opportunity to visit the de Young Museum located at Golden
Gate Park in San Francisco. The de Young is home to collections of American art from the 17th
century to present, African art, oceanic art, art of the Americas, photography and rotating exhibitions. I
had wanted to visit the de Young for some time and finally made my first trip there with my wife. We
decided to time our arrival to the opening of the museum and spent four hours exploring everything
from the artwork on the grounds to the Summer of Love Exhibition. It was a great day and I definitely
felt my mind stretch to comprehend all of the artwork and make the connection to what I have been
learning. In this paper, I will share a description of the different styles of art I viewed, the experience
