Professionalism in Nursing
There are many fields and professions in which professionalism is of the highest reputation, and
nursing is among them. In the area of nursing, there is much importance to be placed with the
improvement of professionalism within the profession. Nursing is a profession that depends on
practitioners to perform in a way that characterized the goodness of the wider discipline, as all nurses
are in a position of accountability and responsibility. This essay will further look into the topic of
professionalism in nursing, the role of a registered nurse, and having competence in relation to this
role. Furthermore, this will also discuss how a registered nurse demonstrates professional practice in
relation to the New Zealand Nursing Council (NZNC) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nurses should also ensure that they have the experience, skills, and training needed to carry out the
task that they are expected to implement with evidence based research. These qualities are included in
the second domain which is the management of nursing care. For example, a nurse should have an
understanding of the theoretical frameworks which shape the nursing over the years. Such as an
understanding of Jean Watson s Theory of Care and its influence on the development of nursing
practice. Furthermore, patients approach nurses due to physical or mental conditions. Thus, nurses
should give the best care to address the needs of the patients. With effective communication skills and
willingness of patient s involvement, this relationship will continue to nurture with time as long as
there is readiness to listen and harmony from both parties. This relates to the third domain which is
interpersonal relationship. Another factor for being professional is collegiality. This connects to the
fourth domain which is inter professional health care and quality improvement. Collegiality is the
relationship between colleagues who seek the requirement of respect, mutual trust, and cooperation
between team mates (Lorenz, 2013). It is the duty of a nurse to maintain healthy relationships with
their team to ensure the patient s wellbeing. This involves critical teamwork skills particularly when it
comes to referrals,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of In-Line Engine
In line four cylinder engine: This is a type of internal combustion engine mainly used in planes and
aircraft. In In line engines the cylinders are arrange in row having no offset. Also known as straight
line engines. In In line engines the cylinders are arrange in one or more parallel straight lines. This
type of engines firstly use in 1929. It commonly use because it have only one cylinder bank, one valve
train and one cylinder head. Constructions of in line engines are easy as compared to V shape engines.
Because the cylinder bank and crank shaft can be made from a single metal casting. These types of
engines have a small physical dimension as compared to designs such as radial and can easily arrange

Cost effective. In Four cylinder engines the cylinder head is at highest point due to which spark plug

and due to only one exhaust manifold weight is further reduce. Disadvantages: In in line engines
aerodynamic and HP loss have high rate because in lines/straight are taller engines as the engine block
needs to be fitted under the hood. This type of arrangement needs a large nose due to longer engine
and this could cause issue in bumper to bumper traffic. This type of arrangements has cooling issues.
This type of arrangements have high center of gravity as compared to layout. Horizontal opposed:
This is also known as a flat engine. Firstly this concept was given by Germen engineer Karl Benz in
1896. In this type of engine the cylinders are arranged in two banks on either sides of single
crankshaft. Each cylinder has two pistons but no cylinder head. This type of engines is not
communally used but according to engineering point of view it is a logical choice for a race engine.
This is also known as Boxer because the motion of piston is similar to the movement of boxer fists in
the horizontal plane unlike the boxer s fists that both move in the same direction, half of the Boxer
engine s pistons move in the opposite

Christian Beliefs Of The World
Charlemagne, was a man raised on Christian beliefs who spent his life waging war on those who were
not Christian. Conquered peoples were forced to accept Christianity as their fate or face exile and/or
death. This manner of conversion to Christian beliefs completely goes against the teachings of his
beloved bible. The hypocrisy of these acts bring one to question his true motivations. Was he really
trying to spread Christianity or was he simply using his Christian crusade as a means to expand his
territories using the support of the pope and the Papal States claiming protector?
Charlemagne
Charlemagne, Charles the Great, Carlos Magnus, Karl der Grosse, the eldest son of Pepin III, was
born April 2, 0742 probably in Aachen, Austrasia (now Germany) (Winston, 2015). He was raised in
an environment of change from the Franks primarily pagan worship lifestyle to one of Christian
beliefs with strong family ties to the popes and missionaries of the times. His great grandfather Clovis,
had converted to Christianity under the influence of his Christian wife, and his reign began the family
s relationship with the Christian Church (Winston, 2015). Primarily educated by his mother and the
monks of Saint Denis in his youth, he spent a great deal of his adult life studying grammar, astronomy,
music and the bible (Graves, 2016). History books barely begin to touch on his love of education and
all manners of learning. He was also quite the outdoorsman and

Reasons Behind the Failure of the Provisional Government...
Reasons Behind the Failure of the Provisional Government
The provisional government was brought about after the fall of the Tsarist government collapsed. This
was done purely because of lack of support for the Tsar and being the only major party. They were in
power for 8months and after making five serious errors; they were removed from power by force.
Kerensky ran the provisional government and it was his lack of judgement, just like the Tsars stupidity
and gullibility that let him down.
The first error he made was that he made no attempt to make the provisional government legitimate. It
never held a democratic election for fear of losing status. Even though at the start of their reign ...

This left an army that was majorly weakened and people thought that, like the Tsar he was a loser of
wars. The populations now have an even worse opinion of him and it was not good for his popularity.
Kerensky underestimated the Bolshevik s and Lenin. Once he had fought off their uprising with Lenin
s plan of Peace for the Army, Bread for the Workers and Land for the Peasants , he thought sending
Lenin to exile was sufficient. After Lenin accepted that he had lost his chance to become President, an
uprising in Petrograd (Kornilov Affair a point I will go onto in my next paragraph) means Kerensky
has to rearm the Bolsheviks in order to retain order. This leaves other countries and supporters of
Lenin with a chance to send him back into the country and to try and push the country into another
revolution (bringing about communism ideally). Lenin s plan to try to please as many people as
possible could come back into effect and this time it had a substantially negative effect on Kerensky s
position in Russian parliament.
Continuing from my last point, Kerensky s lack of judgement about the Kornilov affair was a
definitive error of his. He thought that the Bolshevik s were attempting to take over Russia by means
of a coup, thus he asked Kornilov to send part of his army to protect him. When they got there,

To quote Matt Philbin, managing editor of the MRC Culture Media Institute, the problem with much

Anne Bradstreet s Puritan Beliefs In The Greatness Of God
Puritans in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries are constantly portrayed as devout believers in the
greatness of God. Puritans had an obvious belief that God acted in their everyday lives, a concept
known as providentialism. When the new religion of Puritanism arose, a majority of these Puritans
believed in values such as the grace of God and His divine mission. The Puritan concept of God s
grace signifies their constant need for God. God was seen as kind, and He helped to cleanse the
Puritans of envy, hatred, lust, or vanity. The Puritans also believed in God s divine mission, which was
a plan for each of the Puritans life. The Puritans felt that they had to follow His plan; their lives went
on how they did because of God s control. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This alarming metaphor uses a dark tone and syntax to build up intensity and show God s fearful side.
The choice of the word drunk helps to convey this message of God being vicious and harsh. The word
drunk sometimes complies with enjoyment; God s wrath will fully shoot through one s heart and enjoy
it. The bow and arrow helps to create an image of death and God s evil side. Edwards also discusses
God s providentialism by writing another comparison: There are the black clouds of God s wrath now
hanging directly over your heads, full of the dreadful storm, and big with thunder; and were it not for
the restraining hand of God it would immediately burst forth upon you (24 29). This frightening
description of a vicious storm emphasizes how helpless any person is when compared to God. The
daunting tone of this dreadful storm expresses the idea of providentialism while making any readers or
listeners intimidated by God s absolute power. God has full control of our lives, and He can send us to
hell with ease. By putting the fear of God into others minds, they are intimidated by His providential
supervision and what He can do if one does not correctly

Health Insurance And The Health Care System
According to Martocchio (2014), health insurance covers the costs of a variety of services that
promote sound physical and mental health, including physical examinations, diagnostic testing,
surgery, dental treatments, and corrective prescription lenses for vision deficiencies. More than two
centuries ago, the presence of the health care system emerged when mining and railroad companies
hired doctors to provide medical services to their employees. As a result of the catastrophic World War
I, many health providers were left providing services with the prospect of not receiving payments for
the services being rendered and many Americans faced with the financial burdens of these escalating
health care costs. The essential for the development of a health care system was not established for no
apparent reason. The health care system was developed due to the staggering number of Americans
whom where unable to pay soaring medical bills.
With no government intervention, the private sector of health insurance was established as a means for
Americans to pay medical expenses. In 1927, the American Medical Association (AMA) formed a
Committee on the Costs of Medical Care to report on options for helping Americans pay for their
medical services. The Committee concluded that private insurance was the best solution ( HNN s
History of Healthcare Reform , 2012). This empirical succession is what commenced the evolution of
health care in the United States.

The Wonderous Words of Charles Dickens Come to Life in the...
Charles Dickens is an infamous writer of wondrously worded and descriptive British Victorian novels.
Not only does he go above and beyond the call of a writer to descriptively transform worlds around
him into literary works of art, but he also has a way in which he is able to hide different symbolic
sentiments and objects that seem to pop up around each and every twist and turn he gives us. Oliver
Twist is no different. Charles Dickens cleverly centered the entire novel on twists and objects that do
just that; such as handkerchiefs, neckties and ropes. The handkerchief is an ongoing symbol that has
different significances that really pull the entire novel together. In Oliver Twist, the handkerchief takes
on its own meaning and symbol of brilliantly tying Oliver s world that is full of twists and turns itself,
all together. We are first introduced to the image or symbol of the handkerchief when Oliver
encounters Fagin and his mischievous group of young thieves. After running away from his
apprenticeship that he was treated poorly at, Oliver goes to the city of London. There, Jack Dawkins
also known as the Artful Dodger took pity on him and gave him not only food and shelter, but a deal
with the devil as well. Dawkins takes Oliver to Fagin (also known as the Jew ); the leader of a group
of thieves, and this is where the handkerchief makes a first and lasting impression. Dickens writes
Oliver to be very observant and he notices the handkerchiefs while he is taking in

State v. Tomahl Cook The case of Tomahl Cook vs. The State of New Jersey was a very grusome

Katrina s life was taken away from her at such a young age due to a sick human being. The experience
of driving by where Katrina lived, where she was abducted, and where she was murdered was very
moving. I found it very interesting to follow the trail of a murder as if I was on the case myself. The

The neighborhood seemed to be a nice area from how it looks now. Katrina had a very long walk that
night to reach her destination. Unfortunately she would never make it back to her house the evening of
Valentine s Day. Instead she was brutally murdered and left to die in a field behind a bowling alley
where now lies the Home Depot in Sayerville. Her body was found by people who were riding atv s
behind the bowling alley in a wooded area. Her skull was fractured as she suffered blunt force trauma
which induced her death. The Home Depot was sincere enough to leave a space where a memorial lies
for Katrina where her body was found. The memorial is a nice area where an engraved stone has
Katrina s information and the usual information a tombstone would read. Overall I found it to be a
very interesting experience to go through the steps of the murder case. I could almost put myself in
Katrina s shoes that night when her life was tragically ended unfortunately. Tomahl Cook is serving a
life sentence in prison which he absolutely deserves, but none the less I think he should have got the
death penalty. I feel if any human being abducts somebody and murders them should have their own
life taken away from them. I think this is the proper way justice should be served. A poor innocent girl

Renting an Apartment Is a Better Option Than Buying a House
Renting an apartment is a better option than buying a house I. Introduction
Many people may think that renting an apartment is a better option than buying a house, but there are
many things to take into consideration before deciding. If one were to know the advantages of buying
a house, one just might change his or her mind. Some people think that renting an apartment is a better
option than buying a house because they do not have to worry about the upkeep of the property or
have to pay for costly repairs; however, buying a house gives the owner extra money in his or her

If pets are included in a person s lifestyle, owning a house would be very beneficial, as many
landlords do not allow pets on their premises, or they charge an extra deposit if the tenant were to have
pets. There are many rules that come along with renting an apartment or house, whereas there are no
rules inside of ones home; however, some subdivisions may have ordinances about certain things and
that can be checked out before deciding your home s location. In one were to need an extra room, one
could simply add an addition to the house if the lot in which the house is on is large enough instead of
searching for a new place of residence. Many people enjoy landscaping and gardening; however, there
may not be any room for landscaping or gardening while renting an apartment because multiple
tenants will share a backyard. Sure homeowners are responsible for lawn care and snow removal, but
renters sometimes get stuck having to be responsible for them as well because they get tired of waiting
for the landlord to have the work done. Purchasing a home with a fixed loan gives the homeowner a
sense, as the monthly mortgage payment will remain the same during the term of the loan as long as it
is purchased at a fixed rate. Rent is not guaranteed to stay the same and is often raised yearly. When
starting a family or raising a family, it is better to have a stable residence to call home

`` This American Life ``
This American Life was the story of The fractioned view Keith Aldrich s children had of him, and his
daughter, Gillian s, attempt to reconcile an entire image of her father. Aldrich s story was one of
caution, of becoming too caught up in one s surroundings. In seeking to become a staple of a piece of
time and history, Aldrich disregarded his individuality in order to emulate those he admired. Aldrich
life was a pattern of change categorized by numerous marriages and the resulting children. He dawned
new roles once he tired of his domestic life, until he decided to move on to a new family, and the cycle
started again. Gillian has categorized her father s life into time periods, periods in which he enacts a
new persona and dons a new family to complete the illusion. There were many moral issues raised in
this podcast. Some were individually perceived morals flaws, while others were more widely agreed
upon to be negative. Some of his ethical issues that are more subjective were things like absentee
parenting, extramarital affairs, drugs, and alcohol use. However, his more egregious ethical issues
were the physical and emotional abuse of his children, particularly Josie, his assault on his son s
girlfriend, and his malicious treatment of his wives in response to his own life failings. He consistently
rationalized his wrong doings and blamed those around him for his inability to be who he wanted.
Overall, his life sounded like a case of undiagnosed and untreated mental

John Adams Essay example
John Adams
John Adams was criticized during his presidency by his enemies as well as his colleagues. Obviously,
his reputation as president doesn t really bring a positive thought to ones head. But does John Adams
deserve a better reputation as the president of the United States? He just did not do a very good job
when it came to picking his cabinet. His colleagues messed up his reputation. On the other hand, a
newspaper called the
Aurora, which was publicized in Philadelphia during his presidency, continually heaped abuse upon
Adams. They claimed that he was all words, but no action. Most of the country felt this way about him
when it came to the issue with the war with France. John Adams was not a very popular president of

It is quite obvious that George Washington had a much better cabinet than Adams did. John Adam s
cabinet was not nearly as witty or as intelligent than the one of Washington. Obviously, Mr. Adams did
not do too good of a job on choosing his colleagues. During John Adam s presidency, he ran into the
biggest problem in foreign policy. The French were attacking American shipping. Hoping to resolve
the problem, Adams sent Charles Pinckney, who was the United
States minister to France, John Marshall, a Virginian federalist, and Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts.
The mission was a total disaster. Charles Maurice de Tolleyrand Perigod, the French foreign minister,
sent three agents who demanded a bribe of 250,000 dollars as the price for making a deal. The
Americans went ballistic. No, no, not a sixpence was Charles Pinckney s response to the agents. This
later became known as the XYZ affair. The talks of negotiations disappeared and all of a sudden there
was the possibility of war. Millions for defense, but not a cent for tribute had become the national
slogan. Just three months after Adams had become president, he called in congress together for
measures of defense to be taken immediately. He did not want to wait any longer. He had asked for a
provisional army.(Ellis Langgeth) He also asked for the officers to be commissioned and for recruiting
to begin. However, he did not call for an establishment of a large, professional army. Throughout the

Ray Bradbury s Flying Machine
Flying Machine by Ray Bradbury is a short story that highlights the consequences of possessing too
much power, jealousy, and fear among other themes, through the use of symbolism, diction, metaphor,
and foreshadowing. Furthermore, Bradbury shows that it is very common for people to disregard the
interests of others, in order to benefit his or herself. Ancient Chinese culture contains many symbolic
creatures and objects. The most prominent and common symbol however, is arguably the dragon. The
Chinese dragon is symbolic of great power over air, sea, and land, and it is believed that they control
rainfall, floods, and typhoons. In Flying Machine , the man is flying above the Great Wall, in a
contraption that had a similar appearance to a dragon. It is as a result of this that Emperor Yuan
reacted so severely upon the sight. Some other man who, seeing you, will build a thing of bright

That wonderful wall which had protected them for a timeless time from enemy hordes and preserved
peace for years without number. He saw the town, nestled to itself by a river and a road and a hill,

well as him personally, and this is the first time that he realizes that it might be in jeopardy. It is
possible that Emperor Yuan views the wall as an extension of himself, and that losing the wall to an
enemy meant losing his power. This shows that he had a personal interest in defending the wall, giving

Things go better with Coke. Good til the last drop. It s the real thing. Always Coca Cola. Enjoy. Life

One of the company s most popular jingles was known as I want to buy the world a coke, produced in

The Putney Debates of 1647
Arguments proposed by the Grandees in the simulated debate included justifications and further
defense of the original Grandees arguments. The chief topics to focus on include the importance of
immovable property and vested interests, the threat of anarchy from universal incorporation, and the
essential definition of tacit consent. All aspects of these arguments set out to make the demands of the
Levellers appear unobtainable at the time. When analyzing each topic, the drastic difference of the
Levellers and Grandees are discovered, along with certain similarities that make both sides appear not
so different in ideology. Most importantly, each argument was essential to democracy then, as they are
in today s modern society. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The type of consent expressed by an individual did not matter in relevance to their level or
authorization of participation. The main ideal behind tacit consent for the Grandees involved enjoying
the laws that govern the land and protecting citizens from outside influence. These points
automatically made one subjective to the decree of the government, which in this sense required one
to have immovable property in order to have a vote. Along with the idea of tacit consent, the Grandees
highlighted the difference between birthrights and natural rights with the latter not including the right
to vote. For the Levellers, the benefits of birthrights appeared to sufficiently warrant their ability to
take part in voting, but simply being born in England no longer meant allowed for their selection of
leaders and officials. In relation to democracy, the type of consent present in a government should be
expressed, but when the components of a recent civil war and the possibility of another are present
certain types of consent can only be allowed. Furthermore, the Grandees have effectively identified
which measures and precautions to take in order to prevent future conflict in England, which included
ignoring the expressed consent of the citizens. Along with identifying the consent of the populace, the
Grandees accepted the service of the Levellers in the civil war as consenting to government and being

An Analysis Of Ellen Hopkins s You Know My Story
The poem, You Know My Story , is an excerpt from a larger poem, and novel, called Glass by Ellen
Hopkins. The book is the second book in a series of three describing the rollercoaster life of Kristina
Georgia Snow while on drugs. The free verse poetry books were very largely inspired by Hopkins
daughter s own drug addiction (Goodreads). Her daughter, Cristal was very much like Kristina from
the story. She became addicted to the same drug as Kristina and even had a child that was later
adopted by Hopkins, just like the character from the story (Hopkins). The poem is written in a very
interesting way. If someone were to read the poem straight across as literature is meant to be read, the
poem would be very descriptive and tell a short story on just one page. But with many of Hopkins
works, if the poem is read just using the stand alone words or phrases on the right, a new poem is
born. This new poem is a much creepier summary of the larger poem. In this case the new poem reads,
my dive into insanity, no longer perfect, Kristina became the monster (Hopkins). The entire poem has
a very dark mood. It has very deep traces of helplessness and a misplaced self identity for the narrator.
The tone shifts a few times, but throughout it shares the same darkness of the mood. First there is
anger, then sadness and, finally complete vulnerability. Any piece of literature that talks about an
addict of any sort, tends to be very dark and depressing. This poem is no exception to that idea. If a
person was new to the works of Ellen Hopkins, they might not be aware of the fact that her books are
poetry. The free verse style lends itself well to the writing of a novel, but it is not the type of rhyming
poetry that most people are used to. It seems more like a book than a poem at first, yet if reread the
poetic nature is made more noticeable. Hopkins has stated that she doesn t plan out her books
beforehand because her poetry has to flow naturally and too much planning messes with the natural
flow of things (Hopkins).
There is no discernable rhythm or rhyme scheme to this poem. That holds true for most free verse
poems. As previously stated, this type of poetry tends to work well when writing an entire book

Persuasive Essay Friends
Pre Test Persuasive Essay Friends is a hit television (tv) show, and has been since 1994 when it first
came out. The television show follows the lives of six friends throughout the course of 10 years.
Friends is a good tv show despite some people s opinions. The show was at the top of the charts for
the years that it ran, and even more after that. The theme song itself was number 1 for 8 weeks, and
after that was still within the top numbers (Billboard Staff, 2015). Even though the show is aimed for
a mature audience, it captures the qualities a hit tv show needs. Friends is a good tv show due to the
fact that it is a comedy, includes lots of plot twists, and follows one basic storyline.
To begin, the genre of Friends is comedy. This is the ideal genre for this show because comedies keep
people in a good mood while they watch it. Even on a bad day, a comedy can amuse, entertain, and
provoke enjoyment, (AMC Filmsite, 2017). Also, comedy is one of the most popular choices within
adult audiences. 52% of adults watch comedy tv shows, with the only category having a higher
percentage being movies at 58% (Scarborough, 2013). As well as, comedy can mean more than one
thing. Multiple types of comedy exist, as there are many ways to make someone laugh. Friends does a
very good job of touching on many different kinds of comedy. Friends is one of the most popular
genres of television, and includes elements that draw people s interest.
Not only is Friends a comedy, it includes multiple plot twists. One of these plot twists is when Monica
and Chandler start to date. Throughout the show up until this point, Monica spends time to tell
Chandler that she is not interested which is especially outlined in an episode set at the beach, where
Chandler tries to find any way to make Monica say she d date him. An example of this is that he says
Okay, there s an apocalypse and we are the last two people on Earth... and Monica still responds with
eh. This is what caused the decision for them to start dating to be a shock to everyone watching.
Another plot twist was when Rachel got pregnant. This was clever writing because the show had been
more focused on Monica and Chandler at that point, and when the pregnancy test was

The African-American Image in Films
The African American Image in Films
Films serve many functions like education, entertainment, handbooks of social behavior, and a
transmitter of cultural and social values. The most effective way in which stereotypes are perpetuated
in America is through the mediums of film and television. American films mostly played an influential
part in fixing images of ethnic groups in the minds of audience. The negative representation of films
or movies sometimes reinforces false assumptions (as poor, dangerous and dumb) about minority
groups, for example African American. The way African Americans were represented in past films can
be proved misrepresentation of minority group by an average viewer. The lack of control of films over

attractive woman stands before a group of reporters, and announces, Ladies and Gentlemen, the

African American man is Morgan Freeman. In this film, Freeman s portrayal of the most powerful
man in the world seemed more presidential. There was a time when African Americans were
considered as weak and dumb. But those times have changed, and it is reflected on the big screen. In
fact, there have been several films over the past ten years that African Americans have shown as

For the longest time, one of the biggest taboos in film has been the subject of interracial relationships.
The best example of this taboo would have to be two earlier versions of William Shakespeare s,
Othello (1952, 1965) a story that deals with the subject of interracial romance. In both cases, white
actors in black face were cast to play the famous Moor of Venice (1952, 1965). But, nowadays story
has changed, a black actor playing a black character and the climate of films has also changed,
something as little as a kiss between a black man and a white woman on screen. The African American
image in the past that had been perpetuated by Yaphet Frederick Kotto as criminal has changed to

The Global Financial Crisis Of 2007-2008
The Global Financial Crisis of 2007 2008 is the worst financial crisis since the 1930 s The Great
Depression (Reuters, 2009). Even if bailouts of banks by national governments prevented the collapse
of major financial institutions, worldwide stock markets continued to drop. Evictions and foreclosures
overwhelmed the housing market while severed unemployment embraced the labor market (Baily and
Elliot, 2009). This global financial crisis was responsible for the decline in the consumers wealth, and
contributed to the great recession and European debt crisis (LA Times, 2012). Varying opinions have
been suggested to address the origin of the global financial crisis including conflicting of interests,
complicated financial instruments, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the Russian debt crisis and the Asian financial crisis, massive credit availability existed, fueled
by large inflows from Russia and Asia. The large transfers of foreign funds facilitated housing
construction boom and promoted spending in consumer markets. With real estate, a bubble was also
formed thanks to loose lending standards and rising real estate prices. This ensured fast obtainable
loans for consumers, allowing unprecedented loan levels (Bernanke, 2009). Foreclosure became a
desirable option when home prices started falling. Consumer s wealth were drained and the strength of
financial institutions were undermined. While the number of loans and defaults continued to increase,
the crisis transmitted to other markets (IMF, 2009). On a bigger scale, financialization came into
being: the state of financial institutions to expand while adding fragility. Deregulation and the
importance of a shadow banking system was fully understood as a way to fund American economic
credit (Geithner, 2008). Another reason for the global financial crisis is the activities of subprime
lending. In order to please less qualified borrowers, mortgage lenders originated riskier mortgages
while simultaneously relaxing underwriting standards. Combination of intense competition and
shifting of power from securitizers to originators, steady mortgage standards declined and unstable
loans skyrocketed rapidly (Simkovic, 2011). Major investment banks led the expansion of lending

The Pros And Cons Of Allied Health
According to the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions, Allied Health professionals
partake in the delivery of health care related services (What is Allied Health?, 2018). Allied health
professions are typically acquired in a relatively short amount of time through an accredited school.
Education can take anywhere from 8 weeks to 8 years, depending on what allied health profession is
being completed. Minorities typically seek allied health professions that can be completed in as short
as 8 weeks but not longer than 2 year. This choice is typically economical for minorities, however, the
question remains as to whether job security outweighs the low income an allied health position often

There are many ways to provide incentives for employees. They do not necessarily need to be a
financial incentive. There could be programs developed on a national scale to provide free education

Professional growth is most certainly important to individuals in any allied health profession. Often,
the limitation on the level of education required for an entry level allied health profession can hinder
professional growth. Tuition reimbursement is a great way to promote continuing education that
would lead to professional growth (Buchbinder Shanks, 2016). On the job training is also another way

Hope In Escape From Camp 14
Hope enables us to endure through even the most miserable situations. The reason why hope is such a
powerful force because it is not just a wish that everything that will be alright, Hope is a belief that the
problems will eventually subside if it is endured for long enough. Just the belief that a person still
have something to live for in the face of utter defeat, is enough for people to keep going. An example
of this happening is during Nazi era concentration camp in Bergen Belsen, where the tragic Anne
Frank died only one month before rescue. Women who knew Anne Frank in the Bergen Belsen camp
said that neither hunger nor typhus killed the young girl... she lost the will to live after the death of her

In the context of the book Escape from Camp 14, It is a fact that currently North Korea is the only true
totalitarian dictatorship to exist in the modern world. If all other socialist government forms have
failed apart from North Korea, there must be something they have done differently to keep the flow of
power the same since its existence. North Korea s government has managed to keep such a tight hold
on the oppression of their people, that they can effectively silence them through an efficient system of
keeping their citizens ignorant on what is happening outside their lives. Shin was required to learn the
ten rules of camp 14 since childhood, and until his encounter with Park, he has known nothing other
than what the guards tell him. As Shin has recited himself To fulfill one s work quota is to wash away
sins, as well as to recompence the state for the forgiveness it has shown (Harden 195) The camp is
effectively crushing the hope of the prisoners by limiting their knowledge to only what the state wants
them to know, so there cannot be any rebellion if the prisoners hopes are all crushed by the North
Korean government. Since the government has successfully bred the rebellious nature of their
prisoners out of them since childhood, the prisoners believe that everything the guards say must be the
truth, including one of the main sources of hope like standing up to what others believe in. Another
example of hope being closely correlated to sticking up to beliefs that are right within the book Hey

Theme Of Materialism In Death Of A Salesman
Distracted from Success
In a competition filled environment, the ability to thrive is directly related to achieving more than the
competition. Through the medium of money, overzealous comparisons can be formed about the
success of others. Defining success tangibly as possessing a certain amount of currency leaves out the
emotional aspect of a career. Having a reason to work other than sheer sustenance allows for any job
to be valued rather than dreaded. The understanding that money and materialism are second to
personal fulfillment prevents the possibility of disenchantment with the necessity of labor. The loss of
focus on personal fulfillment occurs because of the strength of materialistic desires have the ability to
lead one astray. In Death of a Salesman, materialism continually pressures members of the Loman
family, creating enough strife to never allow them to reach their respective visions of success. As the
matriarch of the Loman household, Linda constantly aims to develop a sense of love and peace in the
family. Despite her efforts, she can not change the personalities of her husband or her children, leading

If modern civilization stands for all this, I have understood it to do so, I call it satanic. (Mathur 34)
Gandhi was also against the Westernization in all forms. He avers:
Europe today represents not the spirit of God or Christianity but the spirit of Satan.... In reality, it is
worshipping Mammon. (Gandhi 144)
Gandhi considered the contemporary industrial civilization of Europe, a disease and evil for human
race. He firmly believed in the ancient spiritual status of India in the world and remarks:
I would have our leaders teach us to be morally supreme in the world. This land of ours was once, we
are told, the abode of gods. It is not possible to conceive gods inhabiting a land which is made hideous
by the smoke and the din of mill chimneys and factories. (Misra 61)
Narayan reproduces the same spirit and heritage of ancient India in Swami and Friends. To
countercheck the proliferation of industrialization and technology, Gandhi suggested novel methods
and means. He opines:
I believe that independent India can only discharge her duty towards a groaning world by adopting a
simple but ennobled life by developing her thousands of cottages and living at peace with the world.

of ideas. First it was important to remember the reason as to why America and its partners were
triggered to fight in Afghanistan from the beginning. He mentioned that America did not ask for the
fight since it started in 2011 when 19 men hijacked four plains and used them to kill three thousand
people. The men struck at America s military and economic nerve points taking the lives of innocent
women, men and children with no regard of their race, faith or station. And it was through the efforts
of the passengers on one of the flights that the plane did not strike one of American s symbols of
democracy in

Mission Of The Mission Santa Clara
The Mission Santa Clara is a historical California site that is laid in the center of the Santa Clara
University. In 1777, it established and founded by the Franciscan Order. The mission s purpose was to
be the sister mission to Mission Dolores that is in San Francisco. Due to Mexico withdrawing from the
Spanish Empire, the King of Spain and his Viceroy, the ones sponsoring the missions, were no longer
in power. The Mexican government didn t have enough resources and was not interested to maintain
and upkeep the distant missions, removing the Spanish Franciscans. With little funds, the mission
perished slowly until the ownership of the mission was passed over to the Society of Jesus, also called
the Jesuits, in 1851. They made Santa Clara college and today, Mission Santa Clara is used as a
student chapel and opened to the public. Mission Santa Clara is set in the middle of Santa Clara
University (which can be seen in the Santa Clara University s campus map), located in the Bay area.
When it was founded, the city of Santa Clara was seen as a good place to set the mission due to it
having fertile land, mild climate that makes for comfortable living, and abundance of game in the area.
In front of the mission, there stands the Mission Cross. At the base of the cross, a piece of the original
cross, from 1777, is placed inside as a memorable. Standing in front of the mission s door, the three
bronze statues of St. John the Baptist, St. Claire, and St. Francis

An Hour Response
In Story of an Hour , written by Kate Chopin, there were quite a few unexpected events. Initially, I
expected the story to be longer than two pages. I also thought that the story s name could have been
different. For example, the story instantly starts off by talking about Mrs. Mallard s heart problem, and
that fact is repeated throughout the story. Why not title it something like Matters of the Heart ? But,
after reading the story I realized that time is an important aspect of the story all the events in the story
happen within the hour, and Mrs. Mallard mentions time on multiple occasions She breathed a quick
prayer that life might be long. It was only yesterday she had thought with a shudder that life might be
long (Page 279). In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that the first theme this story shows is that life can change in an instant. This shows multiple
times throughout the story, such as when it was believed that Mr. Mallard died With Brently Mallard
leading under the list of killed (Page 278) or when Mrs. Mallard did actually die When the doctors
came they said she had died of heart disease of joy that kills (Page 280). This leads me to my second
theme, which is to not take things for granted. Mrs. Mallard might not have loved her husband the way
he had loved her, but she expected to see him come home that day. The same could be said when Mrs.
Mallard was comprehending her newfound freedom she had hoped for (and expected to) live a life
after her husband had died Spring days, and summer days, and all sorts of days that would be her own
(Page 279). On a lighter note, the third theme I believed was in this story was to not jump to
conclusions unless you see it for yourself. Mrs. Mallard believed that her husband had died because
her husband s name was in the newspaper on the list of those killed in a rail accident. Obviously, the
mistake was not intentional, but it had severe results. I also believe that this story s message was
mainly a bash on society as a whole. This story reflects how society treated women in the 1800s which
was not good. Back then, women were treated horribly and granted, things are not perfect now, but

Hills Like White Elephants By Ernest Hemingway
Hills Like White Elephants, short story by Ernest Hemingway, published in 1927 in the periodical
transition and later that year in the collection Men Without Women. The themes of this sparsely
written vignette about an American couple waiting for a train in
Spain are almost entirely implicit. The story is largely devoid of plot and is notable for its use of irony,
symbolism, and repetition. (Encyclopedia Britannica). The Short Story brings the read into a
discussion, between a man and a girl. They go back and forth about trying to make a decision in their
relationship. Some say Hemingway gives the reader very little in insight, and leaves the reader
somewhat baffled. Hemingway gives us a glimps into a conversation that might be the hardest thing
the couple has ever faced in their relationship. They are discussing weather or not the girl should have
a procedure, and abortion.
The setting of the short story takes place in the 1920 s in Spain, at a Train station.
The American, the male in the story expresses how hot it is outside. The American and the girl sit and
drink beers outside, where there is no shade. The couple sits and drinks it seems they are drinking to
pass time but to also not bring up the issues at hand the procedure. they look like white elephants says
the girl. I believe this is a metaphor. The man says I ve never seen one and brushes the girls comment
aside. The man and the girls seems to be having a bit of a disagreement. you started it the girl says .

This reading has introduced me to various factors in architecture regarding what it represents and
should be in society through Louis Sullivan s words.
A Terminal Station: The Masculine Implies forceful, direct, clear and straightforward,
The Feminine Implies intuitive sympathy, suavity, grace, and qualities of soothe, elevate, and refined.
Should be easy to get in and out (efficiency)
Outward aspect of the style takes on the ambulance of architecture.
I agree, a terminal station should be able to tell us what it is and from the outside, where are the
entrances, exists, etc... This is a public figure and needs to be clear.
The Key:
Each building s external aspect represents character and it s up to us to ... Show more content on

However, the value of the building is based on subjective value and Dollar value. Sullivan
recommends that both come into play. Human nature determines the subjective value, which is more
permanent, but money value is inseparable from the affairs of life.
Roman temple:
Sullivan talked about how roman temples are place in great modern cities, at the same time having a
strenuous sight, sound, that remind the people of their god. Such a holy precinct shall be doubly
sacred to us in our reverence for this union of old and new.
An example of how a building can be highly subjective, take for example a bank. Just as we discussed
in class, a Bank wants their building to seem powerful with strong values.
Sullivan disagrees that banks in America should not resemble a Roman Temple. He believes that it
should belong to ancient romans and that banks can make as much money in any kind of bank. Thus
no need for imitations.
It was a part of Roman life and their culture, and that goes along with the Roman glory, thus building
temples all over resemble a roman death.
Taste:
It expresses a familiarity with current persons of the culture, or trends.
When an architect loses trust from the people at large, this is called weak taste.
I always consider taste as what the market demands, for example having garages in suburban houses
because of the demand for car and storage area.

James Baldwin Notes Of A Native Son Summary
Journal 1
James Baldwin s Notes of a Native Son
As I began reading James Baldwins passage, Notes of a Native son , I was immediately filled with
emotion. He began his very first sentence by stating that his father had died. I started to imagine to
myself, what it would be like if I was Baldwin. I could not imagine what I would do if I lost my father
today. He is my hero. I have some previous knowledge of the Harlem riots because I did a project on
them when I was a junior, but reading Baldwin s first hand experience opened my eyes even further. I
sympathized most with Baldwin when he said that he hardly ever talked to his father before he died.
His father was a mean and scary man. I am so thankful for my dad. He is always there for me and
supports me in all that I do. I talk to him every single day and could not imagine it any other way. In
2009, my uncle committed suicide. It wasn t until after he died that I realized how rarely we actually
talked. I regret that almost every day. Death is a painful eye opener. I really liked the way Baldwin
went into detail describing his father and who he truly was. He explained the way his father treated
others and why he was the way he was. It was because of that detail, that I was able to empathize and
understand why Baldwin resented his father. I would have felt the same way if I would have grown up
with a father like his. It was truly disheartening to read about his father s illness. It completely took
over his body, mentally and

U.s. Democracy And Canadian Democracy
In the contemporary world, democracy is one of the most progressive system of government that
states freedom as a core value. Democracy is based on the free expression of people s opinions, points
of view as well as their opposition to the government actions. Citizens have a great control over the
political events taking place in their country because through the elections they can select the right
candidate who will be able to represent their interests. Core values of the democracy such as freedom,
equality, pursuit of happiness are similar in different countries. However, the implementation of
democracies may vary. USA and Canada are two big and prosperous countries that can be a prime
example of how democracies may vary despite all the similarities. There are three major differences
between US democracy and Canadian democracy such as consensus or in other words substantive
goals of political actions, checks and balances or how do different branches of government work, and
the last but not least federalism in regards to the division of power between federal government and
territorial entities. The first and the most important difference between US and Canadian democracy is
consensus. The initial word consensus means general agreement. In terms of politics, consensus
means an agreement on the substantive goals of the country or in other words political program that
includes an implementation plan of the alternative solutions to the country s problems or threats.

The West Memphis Three Case Analysis
The Case of the West Memphis Three involves the three teenage boys accused and convicted of
murdering Michael Moore, Stevie Branch, and Christopher Byers in West Memphis, Arkansas on May
5th, 1993. The investigation, trial, and appeals that followed would put the Arkansas criminal justice
system under scrutiny for their actions. The West Memphis Police Department arrested and charged
Jason Baldwin, Damien Echols, and Jessie Misskelly, Jr. with the three boy s murders. The entire case
was under the constant watch of the media and brought a great deal of attention to the actions and
conduct of the West Memphis Police Department, as well as the Arkansas criminal justice system.
Many outsiders got involved with the West Memphis Three case. Among these outsiders were famous
musicians Eddy Vedder, lead singer of Pearl Jam and Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks, famous
actors including Johnny Depp, and superstar director Peter Jackson. These celebrities helped to raise
awareness of the case as well as to help raise money for the West Memphis three to obtain appropriate
post conviction representation and unbiased forensic testing and analysis in the hopes of exonerating
them of their convictions. While the new forensic evidence (and the new testing and expert analysis of
the original evidence) ultimately helped the West Memphis Three become free men again, the question
still remains as to who really murdered those three boys on May 5th, 1993 in West Memphis,
Arkansas. Because the

Sex Discrimination In Health And Social Care
Sex discrimination is relatively self explanatory, in that it refers to discrimination that is based on the
fact that an individual is either a male or female. For example, Cathy work in the social service
department which is mainly female and she discovered that she receive half the pay of employees who
work in the planning department which is mainly male, even though both employees work for the
same length of time. Sex discrimination is the most highly developed aspect of the EU social policy
and has long been considered a core right (Steiner, J. Woods, L 2012). Over the years sex
discrimination protection development have served a dual purpose firstly, it served an economic
purpose in where it helped to eradicate competitive misrepresentations ... Show more content on

Poland has also restricted the sale of Gioco computer games arguing that they encourage bad behavior
which can be bad for the user s health. In considering this, public health is an obvious ground.
However, there must be evidence of a real risk and measure must be proportionate to that risk. The
ECJ repeatedly held that the health and life of humans rank among the asset and interest protected by
Article 36 TFEU (Steiner, J. Woods, L 2012). It is for the UK and Poland, within the limits imposed
by the treaty, to decide on the degree of protection they which to afford to public health and on the
way in which that degree of protection is to be achieved (Steiner, J. Woods, L 2012). While this
allocate Member of State considerable discretion, and variance between the levels of protection
chosen by the various Member States is permitted, in practice they are limitation on this discretion.
So, while discriminatory measures for UK and Poland for which justification may be sought on health
ground to ban, test and inspection of imports to ensure that domestic standards are met, thus, in order
for the UK and Poland to successes on banning imports of Gioco games they must prove that Total
War imposed a real health risk which is demonstrated in case Duphar BV (case 238/82). In the case of
Commission v UK the ECJ found that a requirement that UHT milk should be marketed

Hatice Ezberk
The article by Hatice Ezberk The Function of Fantasy as a subversive Genre in Literature examines
the idea of how fantastic literature can bring out an emphasis on how the world transforms through the
writers eyes. As fantasy literature grows it can become unclear as to what social norms the literature is
trying to juxtapose. Ezberk argues that trying to categorize fantasy literature is a rebellious act as the
subgenre s become too specific and can at times deceive the reader by delivering functions it is not
meant to deliver. Ezberk argues through other works by establishing that the concept of realism is not
valid in fantasy literature as it becomes too vague. Instead fantasy literature takes the reader away
from a world they know and into a world where it is heart desire to be. The concept of subversive
literature is that it gives a reader encouragement to think creatively while reading and to ... Show more

Nurses should also ensure that they have the experience, skills, and training needed to carry out the task that they are expected to implement with evidence based research. These qualities are included in the second domain which is the management of nursing care. For example, a nurse should have an understanding of the theoretical frameworks which shape the nursing over the years. Such as an understanding of Jean Watson s Theory of Care and its influence on the development of nursing practice. Furthermore, patients approach nurses due to physical or mental conditions. Thus, nurses should give the best care to address the needs of the patients. With effective communication skills and willingness of patient s involvement, this relationship will continue to nurture with time as long as there is readiness to listen and harmony from both parties. This relates to the third domain which is interpersonal relationship. Another factor for being professional is collegiality. This connects to the fourth domain which is inter professional health care and quality improvement. Collegiality is the relationship between colleagues who seek the requirement of respect, mutual trust, and cooperation between team mates (Lorenz, 2013). • 6. Christian Beliefs Of The World Charlemagne, was a man raised on Christian beliefs who spent his life waging war on those who were not Christian. Conquered peoples were forced to accept Christianity as their fate or face exile and/or death. This manner of conversion to Christian beliefs completely goes against the teachings of his beloved bible. The hypocrisy of these acts bring one to question his true motivations. Was he really trying to spread Christianity or was he simply using his Christian crusade as a means to expand his territories using the support of the pope and the Papal States claiming protector? Charlemagne Charlemagne, Charles the Great, Carlos Magnus, Karl der Grosse, the eldest son of Pepin III, was born April 2, 0742 probably in Aachen, Austrasia (now Germany) (Winston, 2015). He was raised in an environment of change from the Franks primarily pagan worship lifestyle to one of Christian beliefs with strong family ties to the popes and missionaries of the times. His great grandfather Clovis, had converted to Christianity under the influence of his Christian wife, and his reign began the family s relationship with the Christian Church (Winston, 2015). Primarily educated by his mother and the monks of Saint Denis in his youth, he spent a great deal of his adult life studying grammar, astronomy, music and the bible (Graves, 2016). • 7. Reasons Behind the Failure of the Provisional Government... Reasons Behind the Failure of the Provisional Government The provisional government was brought about after the fall of the Tsarist government collapsed. This was done purely because of lack of support for the Tsar and being the only major party. They were in power for 8months and after making five serious errors; they were removed from power by force. Kerensky ran the provisional government and it was his lack of judgement, just like the Tsars stupidity and gullibility that let him down. The first error he made was that he made no attempt to make the provisional government legitimate. It never held a democratic election for fear of losing status. Even though at the start of their reign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This left an army that was majorly weakened and people thought that, like the Tsar he was a loser of wars. The populations now have an even worse opinion of him and it was not good for his popularity. Kerensky underestimated the Bolshevik s and Lenin. Once he had fought off their uprising with Lenin s plan of Peace for the Army, Bread for the Workers and Land for the Peasants , he thought sending Lenin to exile was sufficient. After Lenin accepted that he had lost his chance to become President, an uprising in Petrograd (Kornilov Affair a point I will go onto in my next paragraph) means Kerensky has to rearm the Bolsheviks in order to retain order. This leaves other countries and supporters of Lenin with a chance to send him back into the country and to try and push the country into another revolution (bringing about communism ideally). Lenin s plan to try to please as many people as possible could come back into effect and this time it had a substantially negative effect on Kerensky s position in Russian parliament. Continuing from my last point, Kerensky s lack of judgement about the Kornilov affair was a definitive error of his. He thought that the Bolshevik s were attempting to take over Russia by means of a coup, thus he asked Kornilov to send part of his army to protect him. When they got there, ... • 9. Anne Bradstreet s Puritan Beliefs In The Greatness Of God Puritans in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries are constantly portrayed as devout believers in the greatness of God. Puritans had an obvious belief that God acted in their everyday lives, a concept known as providentialism. When the new religion of Puritanism arose, a majority of these Puritans believed in values such as the grace of God and His divine mission. The Puritan concept of God s grace signifies their constant need for God. God was seen as kind, and He helped to cleanse the Puritans of envy, hatred, lust, or vanity. The Puritans also believed in God s divine mission, which was a plan for each of the Puritans life. The Puritans felt that they had to follow His plan; their lives went on how they did because of God s control. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This alarming metaphor uses a dark tone and syntax to build up intensity and show God s fearful side. The choice of the word drunk helps to convey this message of God being vicious and harsh. The word drunk sometimes complies with enjoyment; God s wrath will fully shoot through one s heart and enjoy it. The bow and arrow helps to create an image of death and God s evil side. Edwards also discusses God s providentialism by writing another comparison: There are the black clouds of God s wrath now hanging directly over your heads, full of the dreadful storm, and big with thunder; and were it not for the restraining hand of God it would immediately burst forth upon you (24 29). This frightening description of a vicious storm emphasizes how helpless any person is when compared to God. The daunting tone of this dreadful storm expresses the idea of providentialism while making any readers or listeners intimidated by God s absolute power. God has full control of our lives, and He can send us to hell with ease. By putting the fear of God into others minds, they are intimidated by His providential supervision and what He can do if one does not correctly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Health Insurance And The Health Care System According to Martocchio (2014), health insurance covers the costs of a variety of services that promote sound physical and mental health, including physical examinations, diagnostic testing, surgery, dental treatments, and corrective prescription lenses for vision deficiencies. More than two centuries ago, the presence of the health care system emerged when mining and railroad companies hired doctors to provide medical services to their employees. As a result of the catastrophic World War I, many health providers were left providing services with the prospect of not receiving payments for the services being rendered and many Americans faced with the financial burdens of these escalating health care costs. The essential for the development of a health care system was not established for no apparent reason. The health care system was developed due to the staggering number of Americans whom where unable to pay soaring medical bills. With no government intervention, the private sector of health insurance was established as a means for Americans to pay medical expenses. In 1927, the American Medical Association (AMA) formed a Committee on the Costs of Medical Care to report on options for helping Americans pay for their medical services. The Committee concluded that private insurance was the best solution ( HNN s History of Healthcare Reform , 2012). This empirical succession is what commenced the evolution of health care in the United States. For the next decade and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Wonderous Words of Charles Dickens Come to Life in the... Charles Dickens is an infamous writer of wondrously worded and descriptive British Victorian novels. Not only does he go above and beyond the call of a writer to descriptively transform worlds around him into literary works of art, but he also has a way in which he is able to hide different symbolic sentiments and objects that seem to pop up around each and every twist and turn he gives us. Oliver Twist is no different. Charles Dickens cleverly centered the entire novel on twists and objects that do just that; such as handkerchiefs, neckties and ropes. The handkerchief is an ongoing symbol that has different significances that really pull the entire novel together. In Oliver Twist, the handkerchief takes on its own meaning and symbol of brilliantly tying Oliver s world that is full of twists and turns itself, all together. We are first introduced to the image or symbol of the handkerchief when Oliver encounters Fagin and his mischievous group of young thieves. After running away from his apprenticeship that he was treated poorly at, Oliver goes to the city of London. There, Jack Dawkins also known as the Artful Dodger took pity on him and gave him not only food and shelter, but a deal with the devil as well. Dawkins takes Oliver to Fagin (also known as the Jew ); the leader of a group of thieves, and this is where the handkerchief makes a first and lasting impression. Her body was found by people who were riding atv s behind the bowling alley in a wooded area. Her skull was fractured as she suffered blunt force trauma which induced her death. In one were to need an extra room, one could simply add an addition to the house if the lot in which the house is on is large enough instead of searching for a new place of residence. Many people enjoy landscaping and gardening; however, there may not be any room for landscaping or gardening while renting an apartment because multiple tenants will share a backyard. Sure homeowners are responsible for lawn care and snow removal, but renters sometimes get stuck having to be responsible for them as well because they get tired of waiting for the landlord to have the work done. Purchasing a home with a fixed loan gives the homeowner a sense, as the monthly mortgage payment will remain the same during the term of the loan as long as it is purchased at a fixed rate. Some of his ethical issues that are more subjective were things like absentee parenting, extramarital affairs, drugs, and alcohol use. However, his more egregious ethical issues were the physical and emotional abuse of his children, particularly Josie, his assault on his son s girlfriend, and his malicious treatment of his wives in response to his own life failings. On the other hand, a newspaper called the Aurora, which was publicized in Philadelphia during his presidency, continually heaped abuse upon Adams. They claimed that he was all words, but no action. It is quite obvious that George Washington had a much better cabinet than Adams did. John Adam s cabinet was not nearly as witty or as intelligent than the one of Washington. Obviously, Mr. Adams did not do too good of a job on choosing his colleagues. During John Adam s presidency, he ran into the biggest problem in foreign policy. The French were attacking American shipping. Hoping to resolve the problem, Adams sent Charles Pinckney, who was the United States minister to France, John Marshall, a Virginian federalist, and Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts. The mission was a total disaster. Charles Maurice de Tolleyrand Perigod, the French foreign minister, sent three agents who demanded a bribe of 250,000 dollars as the price for making a deal. The Americans went ballistic. No, no, not a sixpence was Charles Pinckney s response to the agents. This later became known as the XYZ affair. The talks of negotiations disappeared and all of a sudden there was the possibility of war. Millions for defense, but not a cent for tribute had become the national slogan. Just three months after Adams had become president, he called in congress together for measures of defense to be taken immediately. He did not want to wait any longer. He had asked for a provisional army.(Ellis Langgeth) He also asked for the officers to be commissioned and for recruiting to begin. Ray Bradbury s Flying Machine Flying Machine by Ray Bradbury is a short story that highlights the consequences of possessing too much power, jealousy, and fear among other themes, through the use of symbolism, diction, metaphor, and foreshadowing. Furthermore, Bradbury shows that it is very common for people to disregard the interests of others, in order to benefit his or herself. Ancient Chinese culture contains many symbolic creatures and objects. The most prominent and common symbol however, is arguably the dragon. The Chinese dragon is symbolic of great power over air, sea, and land, and it is believed that they control rainfall, floods, and typhoons. In Flying Machine , the man is flying above the Great Wall, in a contraption that had a similar appearance to a dragon. It is as a result of this that Emperor Yuan reacted so severely upon the sight. He saw the town, nestled to itself by a river and a road and a hill, beginning to waken (31, 32). This indicates that the wall is of the utmost importance to the country, as well as him personally, and this is the first time that he realizes that it might be in jeopardy. The chief topics to focus on include the importance of immovable property and vested interests, the threat of anarchy from universal incorporation, and the essential definition of tacit consent. All aspects of these arguments set out to make the demands of the Levellers appear unobtainable at the time. Along with the idea of tacit consent, the Grandees highlighted the difference between birthrights and natural rights with the latter not including the right to vote. For the Levellers, the benefits of birthrights appeared to sufficiently warrant their ability to take part in voting, but simply being born in England no longer meant allowed for their selection of leaders and officials. In relation to democracy, the type of consent present in a government should be expressed, but when the components of a recent civil war and the possibility of another are present certain types of consent can only be allowed. • 24. An Analysis Of Ellen Hopkins s You Know My Story The poem, You Know My Story , is an excerpt from a larger poem, and novel, called Glass by Ellen Hopkins. The book is the second book in a series of three describing the rollercoaster life of Kristina Georgia Snow while on drugs. The free verse poetry books were very largely inspired by Hopkins daughter s own drug addiction (Goodreads). Her daughter, Cristal was very much like Kristina from the story. She became addicted to the same drug as Kristina and even had a child that was later adopted by Hopkins, just like the character from the story (Hopkins). The poem is written in a very interesting way. If someone were to read the poem straight across as literature is meant to be read, the poem would be very descriptive and tell a short story on just one page. But with many of Hopkins works, if the poem is read just using the stand alone words or phrases on the right, a new poem is born. This new poem is a much creepier summary of the larger poem. In this case the new poem reads, my dive into insanity, no longer perfect, Kristina became the monster (Hopkins). The entire poem has a very dark mood. It has very deep traces of helplessness and a misplaced self identity for the narrator. The tone shifts a few times, but throughout it shares the same darkness of the mood. First there is anger, then sadness and, finally complete vulnerability. Any piece of literature that talks about an addict of any sort, tends to be very dark and depressing. This poem is no exception to that idea. If a person was new to the works of Ellen Hopkins, they might not be aware of the fact that her books are poetry. The free verse style lends itself well to the writing of a novel, but it is not the type of rhyming poetry that most people are used to. It seems more like a book than a poem at first, yet if reread the poetic nature is made more noticeable. Hopkins has stated that she doesn t plan out her books beforehand because her poetry has to flow naturally and too much planning messes with the natural flow of things (Hopkins). There is no discernable rhythm or rhyme scheme to this poem. That holds true for most free verse poems. As previously stated, this type of poetry tends to work well when writing an entire book comprised of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The television show follows the lives of six friends throughout the course of 10 years. Friends is a good tv show despite some people s opinions. The show was at the top of the charts for the years that it ran, and even more after that. The theme song itself was number 1 for 8 weeks, and after that was still within the top numbers (Billboard Staff, 2015). Even though the show is aimed for a mature audience, it captures the qualities a hit tv show needs. Friends is a good tv show due to the fact that it is a comedy, includes lots of plot twists, and follows one basic storyline. To begin, the genre of Friends is comedy. This is the ideal genre for this show because comedies keep people in a good mood while they watch it. Even on a bad day, a comedy can amuse, entertain, and provoke enjoyment, (AMC Filmsite, 2017). Also, comedy is one of the most popular choices within adult audiences. 52% of adults watch comedy tv shows, with the only category having a higher percentage being movies at 58% (Scarborough, 2013). As well as, comedy can mean more than one thing. Multiple types of comedy exist, as there are many ways to make someone laugh. Friends does a very good job of touching on many different kinds of comedy. Friends is one of the most popular genres of television, and includes elements that draw people s interest. Not only is Friends a comedy, it includes multiple plot twists. One of these plot twists is when Monica and Chandler start to date. Throughout the show up until this point, Monica spends time to tell Chandler that she is not interested which is especially outlined in an episode set at the beach, where Chandler tries to find any way to make Monica say she d date him. An example of this is that he says Okay, there s an apocalypse and we are the last two people on Earth... and Monica still responds with eh. This is what caused the decision for them to start dating to be a shock to everyone watching. Another plot twist was when Rachel got pregnant. Just the belief that a person still have something to live for in the face of utter defeat, is enough for people to keep going. An example of this happening is during Nazi era concentration camp in Bergen Belsen, where the tragic Anne Frank died only one month before rescue. If all other socialist government forms have failed apart from North Korea, there must be something they have done differently to keep the flow of power the same since its existence. North Korea s government has managed to keep such a tight hold on the oppression of their people, that they can effectively silence them through an efficient system of keeping their citizens ignorant on what is happening outside their lives. Shin was required to learn the ten rules of camp 14 since childhood, and until his encounter with Park, he has known nothing other than what the guards tell him. As Shin has recited himself To fulfill one s work quota is to wash away sins, as well as to recompence the state for the forgiveness it has shown (Harden 195) The camp is effectively crushing the hope of the prisoners by limiting their knowledge to only what the state wants them to know, so there cannot be any rebellion if the prisoners hopes are all crushed by the North Korean government. Since the government has successfully bred the rebellious nature of their prisoners out of them since childhood, the prisoners believe that everything the guards say must be the truth, including one of the main sources of hope like standing up to what others believe in. In reality, it is worshipping Mammon. (Gandhi 144) Gandhi considered the contemporary industrial civilization of Europe, a disease and evil for human race. He firmly believed in the ancient spiritual status of India in the world and remarks: I would have our leaders teach us to be morally supreme in the world. This land of ours was once, we are told, the abode of gods. It is not possible to conceive gods inhabiting a land which is made hideous by the smoke and the din of mill chimneys and factories. To countercheck the proliferation of industrialization and technology, Gandhi suggested novel methods and means. • 37. Postal Service Persuasive Essay Over the past decade the United States Postal Services have been losing customers ever since the internet has been getting popular over the years. People around the world think that it should be restructured to keep up with today s era. I say otherwise, mailing companies such as the USPS and US postal services shouldn t be restructured to keep up with today s society. The mailing business have many people that work hard everyday to go deliver mail to people s homes, there are people who still want their mail to be delivered to them. My parent is in this business and every morning he hopes to get a call from the USPS to tell him if he goes to work that day so he can earn money to help support his family. The speech was delivered to the corps of the United States, to the Americans and to the women and men of American armed forces. The speech by Barrack Obama was about Americans effort in Afghanistan that is the nature of Americans commitment in Afghanistan, the scope of the interests of the Americans and the strategy the American administration will apply to bring the war in Afghanistan to a successful conclusion. The audience represented people who are prepared to stand out for the security of the country and represent the best about America. The speech addressed various issues with good sentence construction and good flow of ideas. First it was important to remember the reason as to why America and its partners were triggered to fight in Afghanistan from the beginning. He mentioned that America did not ask for the fight since it started in 2011 when 19 men hijacked four plains and used them to kill three thousand people. The men struck at America s military and economic nerve points taking the lives of innocent women, men and children with no regard of their race, faith or station. • 40. Mission Of The Mission Santa Clara The Mission Santa Clara is a historical California site that is laid in the center of the Santa Clara University. In 1777, it established and founded by the Franciscan Order. The mission s purpose was to be the sister mission to Mission Dolores that is in San Francisco. Due to Mexico withdrawing from the Spanish Empire, the King of Spain and his Viceroy, the ones sponsoring the missions, were no longer in power. The Mexican government didn t have enough resources and was not interested to maintain and upkeep the distant missions, removing the Spanish Franciscans. With little funds, the mission perished slowly until the ownership of the mission was passed over to the Society of Jesus, also called the Jesuits, in 1851. They made Santa Clara college and today, Mission Santa Clara is used as a student chapel and opened to the public. Mission Santa Clara is set in the middle of Santa Clara University (which can be seen in the Santa Clara University s campus map), located in the Bay area. When it was founded, the city of Santa Clara was seen as a good place to set the mission due to it having fertile land, mild climate that makes for comfortable living, and abundance of game in the area. In front of the mission, there stands the Mission Cross. At the base of the cross, a piece of the original cross, from 1777, is placed inside as a memorable. • 41. An Hour Response In Story of an Hour , written by Kate Chopin, there were quite a few unexpected events. Initially, I expected the story to be longer than two pages. I also thought that the story s name could have been different. For example, the story instantly starts off by talking about Mrs. Mallard s heart problem, and that fact is repeated throughout the story. Why not title it something like Matters of the Heart ? But, after reading the story I realized that time is an important aspect of the story all the events in the story happen within the hour, and Mrs. Mallard mentions time on multiple occasions She breathed a quick prayer that life might be long. It was only yesterday she had thought with a shudder that life might be long (Page 279). In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that the first theme this story shows is that life can change in an instant. This shows multiple times throughout the story, such as when it was believed that Mr. Mallard died With Brently Mallard leading under the list of killed (Page 278) or when Mrs. Mallard did actually die When the doctors came they said she had died of heart disease of joy that kills (Page 280). This leads me to my second theme, which is to not take things for granted. Mrs. Mallard might not have loved her husband the way he had loved her, but she expected to see him come home that day. The same could be said when Mrs. Mallard was comprehending her newfound freedom she had hoped for (and expected to) live a life after her husband had died Spring days, and summer days, and all sorts of days that would be her own (Page 279). On a lighter note, the third theme I believed was in this story was to not jump to conclusions unless you see it for yourself. Mrs. Mallard believed that her husband had died because her husband s name was in the newspaper on the list of those killed in a rail accident. Obviously, the mistake was not intentional, but it had severe results. I also believe that this story s message was mainly a bash on society as a whole. This story reflects how society treated women in the 1800s which was not good. Back then, women were treated horribly and granted, things are not perfect now, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hills Like White Elephants By Ernest Hemingway Hills Like White Elephants, short story by Ernest Hemingway, published in 1927 in the periodical transition and later that year in the collection Men Without Women. The themes of this sparsely written vignette about an American couple waiting for a train in Spain are almost entirely implicit. The story is largely devoid of plot and is notable for its use of irony, symbolism, and repetition. (Encyclopedia Britannica). The Short Story brings the read into a discussion, between a man and a girl. They go back and forth about trying to make a decision in their relationship. Some say Hemingway gives the reader very little in insight, and leaves the reader somewhat baffled. Hemingway gives us a glimps into a conversation that might be the hardest thing the couple has ever faced in their relationship. They are discussing weather or not the girl should have a procedure, and abortion. The setting of the short story takes place in the 1920 s in Spain, at a Train station. The American, the male in the story expresses how hot it is outside. The American and the girl sit and drink beers outside, where there is no shade. The couple sits and drinks it seems they are drinking to pass time but to also not bring up the issues at hand the procedure. they look like white elephants says the girl. However, the value of the building is based on subjective value and Dollar value. Sullivan recommends that both come into play. Human nature determines the subjective value, which is more permanent, but money value is inseparable from the affairs of life. Roman temple: Sullivan talked about how roman temples are place in great modern cities, at the same time having a strenuous sight, sound, that remind the people of their god. Such a holy precinct shall be doubly sacred to us in our reverence for this union of old and new. An example of how a building can be highly subjective, take for example a bank. Just as we discussed in class, a Bank wants their building to seem powerful with strong values. Sullivan disagrees that banks in America should not resemble a Roman Temple. He believes that it should belong to ancient romans and that banks can make as much money in any kind of bank. Thus no need for imitations. It was a part of Roman life and their culture, and that goes along with the Roman glory, thus building temples all over resemble a roman death. Taste: It expresses a familiarity with current persons of the culture, or trends. When an architect loses trust from the people at large, this is called weak taste. I always consider taste as what the market demands, for example having garages in suburban houses because of the demand for car and storage area. A Department Store:

James Baldwin Notes Of A Native Son Summary Journal 1 James Baldwin s Notes of a Native Son As I began reading James Baldwins passage, Notes of a Native son , I was immediately filled with emotion. He began his very first sentence by stating that his father had died. I started to imagine to myself, what it would be like if I was Baldwin. I could not imagine what I would do if I lost my father today. He is my hero. I have some previous knowledge of the Harlem riots because I did a project on them when I was a junior, but reading Baldwin s first hand experience opened my eyes even further. I sympathized most with Baldwin when he said that he hardly ever talked to his father before he died. His father was a mean and scary man. I am so thankful for my dad. He is always there for me and supports me in all that I do. I talk to him every single day and could not imagine it any other way. In 2009, my uncle committed suicide. It wasn t until after he died that I realized how rarely we actually talked. I regret that almost every day. Death is a painful eye opener. I really liked the way Baldwin went into detail describing his father and who he truly was. He explained the way his father treated others and why he was the way he was. It was because of that detail, that I was able to empathize and understand why Baldwin resented his father. I would have felt the same way if I would have grown up with a father like his. It was truly disheartening to read about his father s illness. It completely took over his body, mentally and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. U.s. Democracy And Canadian Democracy In the contemporary world, democracy is one of the most progressive system of government that states freedom as a core value. Democracy is based on the free expression of people s opinions, points of view as well as their opposition to the government actions. Citizens have a great control over the political events taking place in their country because through the elections they can select the right candidate who will be able to represent their interests. Core values of the democracy such as freedom, equality, pursuit of happiness are similar in different countries. However, the implementation of democracies may vary. USA and Canada are two big and prosperous countries that can be a prime example of how democracies may vary despite all the similarities. There are three major differences between US democracy and Canadian democracy such as consensus or in other words substantive goals of political actions, checks and balances or how do different branches of government work, and the last but not least federalism in regards to the division of power between federal government and territorial entities. The first and the most important difference between US and Canadian democracy is consensus. The initial word consensus means general agreement. In terms of politics, consensus means an agreement on the substantive goals of the country or in other words political program that includes an implementation plan of the alternative solutions to the country s problems or threats. The West Memphis Three Case Analysis The Case of the West Memphis Three involves the three teenage boys accused and convicted of murdering Michael Moore, Stevie Branch, and Christopher Byers in West Memphis, Arkansas on May 5th, 1993. The investigation, trial, and appeals that followed would put the Arkansas criminal justice system under scrutiny for their actions. The West Memphis Police Department arrested and charged Jason Baldwin, Damien Echols, and Jessie Misskelly, Jr. with the three boy s murders. The entire case was under the constant watch of the media and brought a great deal of attention to the actions and conduct of the West Memphis Police Department, as well as the Arkansas criminal justice system. Many outsiders got involved with the West Memphis Three case. Among these outsiders were famous musicians Eddy Vedder, lead singer of Pearl Jam and Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks, famous actors including Johnny Depp, and superstar director Peter Jackson. These celebrities helped to raise awareness of the case as well as to help raise money for the West Memphis three to obtain appropriate post conviction representation and unbiased forensic testing and analysis in the hopes of exonerating them of their convictions. While the new forensic evidence (and the new testing and expert analysis of the original evidence) ultimately helped the West Memphis Three become free men again, the question still remains as to who really murdered those three boys on May 5th, 1993 in West Memphis, Arkansas. As fantasy literature grows it can become unclear as to what social norms the literature is trying to juxtapose. Ezberk argues that trying to categorize fantasy literature is a rebellious act as the subgenre s become too specific and can at times deceive the reader by delivering functions it is not meant to deliver. Ezberk argues through other works by establishing that the concept of realism is not valid in fantasy literature as it becomes too vague.
