Causes Of Valley Forge Dbq Essay
The cold, harsh winter in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania dejects the soldiers who continue to starve,
freeze, and remain ill. The Continental Army doesn t even know whether they will survive due to these
bad conditions, and most of the soldiers start to lose their hope, strength, and willingness. It all started
when George Washington was granted the general of the American army by the Continental Congress
in 1775. His soldiers have been struggling day and night to fight for their independence and freedom.
However, Washington s troops were forced to retreat to Pennsylvania by the British army, and are now
stuck in the winter camp at Valley Forge. It is cold, the air is smokey, and there is no supplies or goods
left for the soldiers. Also, there is a disease spreading around the camp like a virus that continues to
infect the Continental Army. How will they ever ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be shown in Document C which was written in 1777 by Dr. Albigence Waldo who was a
Connecticut surgeon who helped care for the sick soldiers. This doctor wrote, A general cry thro the
Camp this Evening among the Soldiers, No Meat! No Meat! the Distant vales Echo d back the
melancholy sound No Meat! No Meat! (Waldo, 1777) This means that during the winter, the army had
no meat to strengthen the soldiers and provide them protein. This also means that they soldiers
probably starved during their miserable time at Valley Forge. This is significant because without meat,
the soldiers will not be capable of facing the British army. Therefore, their energy will soon run out
because they will be running and fighting on an empty stomach. Clearly, the soldiers should leave the
winter camp because they will likely die if they stay. The troops could also die because they will
potentially die from the cold due to the lack of

Educational Experience For Learners Of All Ages
The arts are essential to providing a healthy educational experience for learners of all ages. Though
treated by many as frivolous subjects, they provide vital tools for communication, engagement and
successful instruction. It makes sense to incorporate the arts across the curriculum not only will schools
improve, but students will develop important social and emotional skills, we will save money in the
long run by keeping our students learning and engaged in work, and we will make the world a more
beautiful place. To quote Charles Fowler (1994),
The arts are not pretty bulletin boards. They are not turkeys and bunny rabbits. They are not frivolous
entertainment. The arts are our humanity. They are the languages of civilization through which we
express our fears, our anxieties, our hungers, our struggles, our hopes. They are systems of meaning
that have real utility. This is why schools that provide students with the means and the encouragement
to explore these realms provide a better education. (p.9).
It is time for us to acknowledge as a society that schools are not just a building in which we instruct
students on math, science and reading (though the arts would still be a vital tool even if that were the
case). They are where students develop the skills essential to being human. Simply put, the arts can
only benefit our schools, and should we choose to make them a priority, we will see definitive success.
Using the arts in an academic setting allows teachers to

Experience, Perceive And Interact With The Sites Through...
As the principal question is to examine how we experience, perceive and interact with the site through
our senses and body, in this section I present excerpts from the interview transcripts which are then
analysed to obtain an understanding of sensory qualities of the site. In any site dance, it is not only the
performers who are interrogating space through movements, but it also extends to an audience who
experiences it. For a better structuring, I have divided this section into two parts: the first part focuses
on how the dancers engage to depict the site through various sensory receptors and the latter part
discusses the multiple constructions of the sites through the viewers sensuous subjectivity. Through
these sections I endeavour to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Dusk the performance is designed imaginatively to retrace the histories of the place and to
acknowledge the land (as evidenced in set of movement vocabularies built upon bhumi namaskar),
agreed by Harrison and Subramaniam. Both Subramaniam and Harrison s narratives contained
abundant tactile metaphors about having contacts with grass underfoot (Fig 5.5.1.1). Subramaniam
informed me that: We had choreographed and rehearsed in a studio, so the texture of the grass made it
difficult to move initially (Facebook interview, April 29, 2013).
From the transcription I found that the dancers variously depicted the site as: soft , resistant , hard ,
uneven (texture), huge , small , magnanimous (size), airy , fresh , stuffy (olfactory), illuminated , dark
(visibility) and sacred (belief). As most of the dance artists and dancers agreed that it was meant to pay
tribute to the site, I narrow down my discussion to the concept of sacredness drawing on a set of three
selected photos and narratives. Subramaniam said that: The stones felt sacred, each was feeling like a
deity with personality and compassion. We were blessed with extraordinarily good weather and the sun
provided perfect lighting (Facebook interview, April 29, 2013). Dusk expands the concept of
sacredness through cultural and religious appropriations. In Fig 5.5.1.1 the proximate vicinity of the
stones forces the dancers to experience them as skin. Their gorgeous silk

Emotional Labor
For many people who are employed, there are various tasks they must do, in regards to their job. One
of the requirements of several jobs is emotional labor, which is an act that many partake in, without
realizing. They assume that it is simply expected to greet all customers with a smile and to suppress any
negative emotions that may arise while working. Some of the jobs that involve emotional labor include
working in retail, fast food and so forth. In this paper, the job I will focus on is working at a call center.
I will discuss the emotional labor that takes place, and my experience performing emotional labor. I
will begin by giving a brief definition of emotional labor through the perspective of Allie Hoschild. I
will then give a general ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because the female workers are expected to sound more cheerful rather than aggressive, customers feel
less hesitant in expressing their frustration. According to Hoschild, because a woman s gender is
accorded lower status, a woman s shield against abuse is weaker (Hoschild, 1983, p. 175). Because of
the lower status shield, female workers have a tendency to be more abused than male workers. Another
aspect of the call center that is gendered is on the emphasis of competition. Pierce mentions how
lawyering can be a game and that male litigators compar[e] the number of wins to the courtoom and the
dollar amount of damages as a way to show off their manliness (Pierce, 2004, p. 78). At the call center,
competition is also a factor. Rewards such as commission is offered once an employee reaches a target
for the amount of sales. This can be seen as a performance contingent reward. Being able to leave work
early but get paid for all hours, having the monthly opus card paid are among some of the rewards that
are offered. The rewards reinforce competition but so does having a quota system. One observation I
made while working at the call center was that male workers tended to brag about the amount of sales
they had made if it passed the quota system or how they were

The Importance Of Evidence Based Practice In Nursing
Evidence based practice in nursing includes blending clinical judgment and expertise with the best
available research and patient characteristics and preference. (Treas Wilkinson,2014, p. 104) It requires
a transition from nursing care that is base on opinions, past practices, and tradition to practice that is
base on scientific research and proven evidence. (Catalano, 2015, p. 589) The goal of evidence based
practice is to improve the quality of care by identifying the most cost efficient treatments for a
particular disease. The process of evidence based includes formulating answerable questions example
would be interventions, conducting a systematic review of research, evaluating the quality of evidence
obtained, compiling and analyzing the data to prepare a structured report review, translating the
evidence into guidelines for practice, and integrating the guidelines and evidence with clinical expertise
and the patient s preference and characteristics. (Treas Wilkinson, 2014, p. 104) Choose ONE (1) of the
practices described in the scenario. From the scenario, I want to discuss checking gastric tube
placement by injecting air and auscultating the abdomen. Describe how you will address this gap in
nursing practice with your preceptor. Write out exactly what you might say to this RN to professionally

Preventing Ventilator Associated Pneumonia in Children Essay
Preventing Ventilator Associated Pneumonia in Children
Hospitalization for any family is a hard situation to deal with, when it is a child in the hospital the
situation because even tougher to handle. Because of the delicate situation of family members in the
hospital it is imperative that the patient does not obtain any hospital acccuired conditions. One of the
most common hospital acquired infections (HAI) is ventilator assocaited pneumonia (VAP). Although it
is commonly seen in the hospital setting it can have devastating effects, especially on children.
Prevention of VAP is the goal for critical care nurses in all hospitals.

Younger children are more likely to acuire VAP than adults because of their decrease function of the
immune system.
Dental plaque is a main culprit of causing VAP in young patients. The mouth harbors many bacterias
including gram positive and gram negative bacterias. To prevent ventilator associated pneumonia from
dental plaque guidelines have been set up to decrease the risks. For all infants and children every two
hours the oral cavity should be moistened and the lips should be coated with petroleum jelly. For
children with teeth it is recommended that the teeth be brushed every twelve hours with fluoride
toothpaste, oral cavity suctioning should be done frequently but do not rinse the mouth. Daily oral care
with 0.6% chlorhexidine for children over 6 who have teeth is also indicated.
There are numerous other techniques used to prevent VAP. Like many respiratory problems the head of
the bed should always be elevated to between 30 and 45 degrees to prevent aspiration of fluids and
sputum. The tubing for the ventilator should only be changed on a as needed basis. The continuous
changing of tubes moves the bacteria and can introduce new bacteria into the respiratory system.
Patients should also receive sedation vacations and prophylaxis medications to prevent peptic ulcers.
Weaning of the mechanical ventilator should also be done as soon as possible

positively affects the lives of the people involved. My favorite memories of serving my local area is

military families when we present the colors or the veteran with a flag. Through school, I have been

Dependability is defined by the Merriam Webster Dictionary as able to be trusted to do or provide what
is needed . This is one of the most necessary traits that a person needs to exhibit to be successful
because it allows for the responsibility aspect to come into the light. Dependability is what gets things
done in tight positions where little to no time is available to get others to help. In addition, the same can
also be said for dangerous situations. Everyday, we as American depend on our Government, Military,
and Police and Fire Departments to graciously give us our chance at the most successful life that makes
each of us happy and gives us the strength to get out of bed in the morning. In my life, I exhibit this
quality by holding the position of Company Commander of Harold L. Richards NJROTC Bulldog
Company. Also, I was given the opportunity to return to Leadership Academy as a Cadet Aide for the
sailing program. Throughout the week, many cadets depended on me to safely train them in the
handling of small sailboats. In terms of Service, this is one of the most selfless things that a person can
give. Through the countless hours of community service taken place from when I could first hold a rake
to clean up the leaves for my neighbors the service opportunities that I have taken advantage of hold
true to the meaning of help, use, and benefit. This is what fuels the hearts of Americans and those who
help others throughout the world. The United States would never be close to the way in which she is
today without the help of those people who take care of others throughout the world be taking up
leadership roles. From the very beginning of mankind to the people taking on created a telescope that

Speech On Superstition
Introduction
Religion, Devotion and Love for God is great and should be followed as a personal belief, but
Superstition is the black market practice in the field of devotion and should be strongly deterred
A nation that endeavors to be a superpower and wants to join the league of global leaders in knowledge,
science and technology should declare a revolution to eradicate all ills like superstition and black magic
at all levels from its very roots.
If we look at India, one might argue that India being a land of villages and snake charmers is not free
from the evils of superstition, witch hunting, black magic, exorcism and the like. The number of
superstitions and blind beliefs in India is very large as the Indian social fabric is made of people

No religion ordains or justifies black magic, superstition, human sacrifice, witchcraft or any kind of
occult practices. Any resistance to superstition or black magic should not be construed as anti religion
or against the freedom to practice religion which is provided as a fundamental right under the
Constitution. One can be faithful to one s religion of choice without being superstitious. In India,
superstition is part of the traditional fabric; hence tougher laws are considered antithetical to our
cultural ethos.
The problem arises when religion becomes a tool of money making and dupery in the hands of vested
interests to propagate or promote superstition and irrational practices such as predictive powers to
parrots and other animals, exorcist powers to tantriks and Fathers, etc. It becomes a serious issue when
a so called cure is considered a miracle and is attributed to a deity or a living person like the so called
gurus or god men to boost following in such beliefs which in turn has become a means for making

Causes Of Air Pollution Essay
A big major problem in today s world is air pollution, and it is a major cause of climate change. Air
pollution affects many thing in the world. It affects our crops, our animals, and also us people who can
suffer terribly from air pollution. People who have medical problems like lung cancer, and asthma can
die because our lungs aren t meant to take in all those toxins in our bodies, and our bodies react in a
negative way when those toxins are put into the body. Our plants and animal have nothing to with
causing air pollution and they have to suffer because of humans who are polluting the air with carbon,
and greenhouse gases. They plants could be affected which the animals eat. Then the animals eat the
plants get affected and then we eat the animals which can get everyone sick and eventually die. If we
want to live longer and stay healthy we have to get rid of air pollution. ASAP.
Recent studies show that in 1982, approximately 1.2 million adults got lung cancer or died according to
Arden Pope III. The reason these people got sick and/or died is because of air pollution. People that
smoke cigarettes are more likely to get lung cancer, than people who don t smoke and the smokers are
causing pollution also. Their not only affecting themselves with pollution, but their affecting other

The Between Vietnamese And American Education Essay
Entering Tran Phu High School, I remember there was a huge white banner with bold letters, For the
sake of ten years, we must plant trees; for the sake of a hundred years, we should cultivate people. In
fact, the process of cultivating people requires lots of effort, as much as planting a tree. To ensure a tree
develops successfully, not only do people plant it into the ground, but they must also take care of it
regularly. Undoubtedly, sharing the same task as planting a tree, education plays an integral role in
contributing to people s success. Fortunately, having a chance to experience with Vietnamese and
American educational systems, I have realized each one has its own value of educating people.
Although both attempt to cultivate people, they have striking differences. One difference between
Vietnamese and American education is their rules regarding students appearances and their behaviors.
First of all, most Vietnamese students must wear uniforms and show up in a natural looking
appearance. Specifically, students must wear white shirts and long dark blue pants and tuck in the
shirts. Also, girls are not allowed to wear makeup, color their hair, or even paint their nails. Boys must
have a clean short haircut. Secondly, in Vietnam, students must display appropriate manners at school
such as showing fully respectable behavior towards their teachers and not treating their classmates
cruelly. For example, students must keep quiet during lectures until teachers allow

Examples Of Nihilism In Macbeth
A Look at Nihilism in Madame Bovary and Macbeth
Nihilism
Nihilism which comes from the Latin word, Nihil means nothing, to destroy completely, as seen in it
being the base of the annihilation. Nihilism is the idea that all beliefs and ideals are without foundation
and that nothing can truly be identified or known. Every belief, every considering something true, is
necessarily false because there is simply no true world (Nietzsche). Nihilism tends to be related to
skepticism and pessimism by many people. A person who was truly a Nihilist would have no desire or
belief and anything, they would probably be led by a compulsion to destroy. Nihilism is often associate
with the Philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. Nietzsche contended that nihilism ... Show more content on

After they got married she quit really speaking to him because she had gotten sick and is dying. So now

someone you do not love is nihilistic. Ethan seems not to care about how any of his actions affect
Zeena. He spends that first bit of the novel being miserable and gloomy about his situation, but yet he
does nothing to change it. Instead he allows Zeena to control him, There had never been anything in her

Now she had mastered him and he abhorred her (Wharton, et.al, 2009). Instead he is stuck wallowing in
past failures until he meets his wife s cousin Mattie and finds himself having an affair with Mattie in an
attempt to obtain the sense of love and passion that his marriage lacks. Ethan hates liars and purposely
hurting people but he has no compunction about hurting Zeena because he does not seem to see her as a
person, Zeena herself, from an oppressive reality, had faded into an insubstantial shade. All his life was
lived in the sight and sound of Mattie Silver, and he could no longer conceive of its being otherwise
(Wharton, et. Al, 2009). This leads to tragic consequences when Ethan and Maggie attempt to commit
suicide together. This causes Ethan to walk with a limp and Mattie to become bed ridden and dependent
on Zeena. Ethan Frome deals with both Existential Nihilism, which I mentioned before in regards to
how Ethan seems to view Zeena as a non entity and Ethical Nihilism. Ethan is having an emotional
affair with Zeena s cousin, which he has convinced himself is fine because Zeena is dying. Then he and
Mattie decide that the only way they can be together is to commit suicide, with Mattie putting her lips

Nuclear Weapon Production Of Nuclear Weapons Essay
Nuclear Weapon Production Apocalypse
Hunter Honeycutt
Western Kentucky University Glasgow
Nuclear Weapon Production Apocalypse
If the production of nuclear weaponry is not diminished, it will cause the end of everything. With the
production of nuclear weapons increasing, it will only be a matter of time until a nuclear war breaks
out. When a nuclear weapon is used, it has three killing modes. The first would be the impact, when the
bomb first hits. The second would be the shockwave that extends outward a good deal. Thirdly, the
radiation effect would kill several more after that.
How does a nuclear weapon work you might ask? Well there are two ways a nuclear weapon can work.
One is nuclear fission and the other is nuclear fusion. In nuclear fission, the nucleus of an atom is split
in two by a neutron. To do this, isotopes will need to be present such as uranium (uranium 235, uranium
233) or plutonium (plutonium 239) (Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament). An isotope is the same
element but with different numbers. Nuclear fusion is kind of how the sun works. According to
Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, two small atoms are fused together to create one large atoms. This
typically requires hydrogen or hydrogen isotopes (deuterium, tritium), to form a larger one (helium
isotopes) (Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament).
As stated in a previous paragraph, a nuclear weapon will kill on contact. According to a website article
by History.com, the first bomb that was

Australopithecus Sediba
In a 2010 article in Science , Dr. Berger and a team of experts described the fossils of a boy and a
woman, who were discovered near Johannesburg. The bones were a surprise because they displayed a
mixture of primitive and modern human attributes, therefore qualifying as a distinct species. They have
been named Australopithecus sediba, and lived about 2 million years ago.
These individuals travelled upright on long legs, with human shaped hips and pelvis, but still climbed
through trees on ape like arms. They had the small teeth and more modern face of Homo genus that
includes modern humans, but the relatively primitive feet and tiny brain of Australopithecus. Its
primitive anatomy included a brain the size of an average orange. Other Australopithecines and early
species of Homo, like H. naledi, were its contemporaries. Dr. Berger indicated that the species evolved
near or at the root of the Homo genus, about 2.5 million to 2.8 million years old. Geologists think the
cave in which they were located is no older than three million years.
The Australopithecines in general, succeeded for millions of years in Africa. Then new experimental

How do you know you are near, or worse, in the lair of a vampire?
If you re in a Vampire lair, always try to get out as soon as possible! You re probably their dinner. Some
ways you ll know if you accidently entered a lair or was forced in. Some main things that are going to
be weird that there is going to be no mirrors. But still in none of the rooms is there a mirror (Ch:2,
Para:26). Another thing that you might want to look for is the lightening. I went through the door in the
corner and down the winding stair and along the dark passage to the old chapel (Ch:4, Para:71). The
lightning will be very dark because, id there was light it will burn the Vampires and turn them into dust.

Improving The Awareness Of Cervical Cancer
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
NEED FOR THIS RESEARCH:
1. To find the efficiency of Affordable Care Act in increasing the awareness of Cervical Cancer.
2. Dr. Ahmedin Jemal, one of the researchers said that the change of early detection and insurance
coverage for young under their own parents, made it impossible to compare the total number of women
who got screened before and after the health care law came into effect.
SOURCE OF DATA COLLECTED:
Researchers used the National Cancer Data Base, a hospital based registry of about 70 percent of all
cancer cases in the United States.
RESEARCH METHOD:
They compared diagnoses for women ages 21 to 25 who had cervical cancer with those for women ages
26 to 34, before and after the health law provision began in 2010.
FINDINGS:
1. Findings are positive and showed a rise in early stage diagnoses among the younger group. About
79% of the younger group had an early stage diagnosis in 2011 12, when compared to 71% in 2007 09.
2. For the older group, the percentage dropped to 71 percent from 73 percent, a change that is not
statistically meaningful.
3. The effect for younger women looked even stronger when analyzed by year. About 84 percent of the
younger group had early stage diagnoses in 2011, compared with 68 percent in 2009.
4. Early stage diagnoses dropped to 72 percent of the group in 2012, a drop that was typical during
increases in screenings, because many of the early stage cases have already been detected.
5. You see the effect of the

The Civil Of Chinese Immigrants On The Transcontinental...
Migrating to America in search of new opportunities, sadly, the Chinese were referred to as Chinks and
coolies. Throughout history, Americans have been in debt to immigrant groups, like the Chinese, who
were the only ones willing to do the most dangerous and underpaid work. Yet, Americans have been the
most hostile towards the Chinese the only racial group ever to face an Exclusion Act. During the 19th
century, 80,000 Chinese immigrants arrived in the United States during the Gold Rush, but they found
no gold only nativists who did not want them there. So, instead of mining, many Chinese settled for
odd jobs and labored on the Transcontinental Railroad, a previously unparalleled project to connect the
American West Coast with the American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Charles Crocker, one of the Big Four investors of the railroad, became so desperate for labor
that he convinced Strobridge to try and hire the Chinese: They built the Great Wall. They can do it
(Elish). Finally, in 1863, the Chinese, who were believed to be inferior to whites, were given the
opportunity to work on the Transcontinental Railroad. In the end, hiring the Chinese was a very wise
decision because they were the cheapest and they worked the hardest. Despite many Chinese being
under five feet and only weighing 120 pounds, the Chinese impressed Crocker: They couldn t dig as
much dirt with a single swing, but they worked methodically without talking or taking breaks...by the
end of day one, [the Chinese] had covered as much distance as the all white groups and the job was
done more carefully (Elish). Charles Crocker was recorded as saying that, Wherever we put [the
Chinese], we found them good, as well as, ...they worked themselves into our favor to such an extent
that if we found we were in a hurry for a job of work, it was better to put Chinese on at once (American
Experience: TV s Most Watched History Series). In other words, the Chinese proved themselves to be
the most punctual and willing and diligent group. In American History: The Transcontinental Railroad,
it is explained that the Chinese had the best habits. They always drank hot tea, which killed off

Is Technology Good Or Bad

December 13, 2017
Is Technology Good or Bad For Us? Technology has been around for a very long time now. In some
way or another, it s been a part of people s lives nowadays whether it s cell phones, tv, computers,
tablets, we all own one or more of these things. Digital electronics started between the late 1950 s and
1970 s. According to Forbes, the first document which included the discussion of building a computer
was on June 30, 1945. Back in the day, technology wasn t as popular or used as it is now. It amazes me
to see how much it has grown. From box Tv s to flat screen tvs to smart tv s that can connect to other
online sites such as youtube, and Netflix. Phones have gone from house phones, to flip phones, to
smartphones. It s hard to believe sometimes how far technology has grown. Technology overall, is good
for high school, college students. It helps them in many ways one is being able to do research online.
My question has always been whether technology is good or bad for younger generations by Dr. Manny
Alvarez. As said by him, nearly every modern parent has given a tablet or smartphone to a child for
entertainment. By entertainment, he means letting them watch movies, and cartoons. Almost every
parent that I know has done this at least once. A lot has to do with the baby being grumpy and parents
using technology as an entertainment for them to not cry. Alvarez does state that parents allowing their
children to use

Comparing Sexuality and Power in Dracula and Buffy the...
Comparing Sexuality and Power in Dracula and Buffy the Vampire Slayer
At first glance, Joss Whedon s Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the hour long TV series which premiered in
1997 and is now in its third season, bears little resemblance to the book which started the vampire craze
Bram Stoker s Dracula, published a century earlier. And yet, looks can be deceiving. Although the
trendy and often skimpy clothing and bandied about pop culture references of Buffy clearly mark the
series as a product of a far different culture than that of the Victorian England of Dracula, the
underlying tensions of the two texts are far similar than one might think. Beneath the surface
differences in the treatment of their heroines, the two texts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just how the forces of good organize themselves in each text reveals much about the assumptions about
gender roles present in their cultures of origin. Buffy Summers, a teenage girl, is the Vampire Slayer
One girl, in all the world, a Chosen One. One born with the. . . the strength and skill to hunt the
vampires, to stop the spread of evil (Giles/Buffy, Welcome to the Hellmouth ) and her friends, the so
called Slayerettes, and her Watcher Giles only provide assistance and support. Dracula s Mina is merely
a minor and weaker member of a large group of men, including her husband, who fight in order to
protect her. Without doubt, the image of the petite Buffy fighting and killing vampires week after week
forces the viewer to recognize her strength and power. Despite her physical passivity in the novel,
sweet faced, dainty looking Mina reveals she too is strong and necessary to the fight against evil, even
if in less obvious ways (226). Seward credits Mina s skill in typing and work in compiling hers, Harker
s, and his diaries with providing the key without which they could never have found the dates otherwise
(232). The information she provides while under hypnosis visions echoed in Buffy s prophetic dreams (

The Modern Plague Of Overpopulation
Unlike plagues of the dark ages or contemporary diseases we do not understand, the modern plague of
overpopulation is soluble by means we have discovered and with resources we possess. What is lacking
is not sufficient knowledge of the solution but universal consciousness of the gravity of the problem
and education of the billions who are its victim. This was said by Martin Luther King, Jr on May 5,
1966. If this was said almost 49 years ago by one of the greatest leaders of American history, why hasn
t the issue of overpopulation been solved yet? Simply because we lack the universal consciousness of
the serious issues overpopulation bring and the education required on how to prevent it. The world just
can t support every single human being if we continue to ignore the issue. So what would happen
globally if the demand for natural resources is greater than the supply? There will be conflicts and wars,
environmental degradation and climate change. In addition to having a high demand for natural
resources and a low supply, it will also cause a rise in unemployment and raise the cost of living.
There will be many wars and conflicts to come due to fact that there just won t be enough resources for
everybody. Michael Klare, professor of peace and world security studies at Hampshire College, and the
author, most recently, of The Race for What s Left: The Global Scramble for the World s Last
Resources, informs us that there have been a total of six global conflicts that have

The Faerie Queene
Una, the True Church
The Faerie Queene is an important romantic epic that more than being just poetry, represents the
protestant imagery in terms of kinds of individual virtue , the forces of temptation and human
weaknesses to which the greatest of persons can succumb and, of course, the humanist ideals of its
time. His author, Edmund Spenser, makes use of biblical and classic allegories to tell his story, that
more than have been a religious writing, the poem s purpose was to educate, to turn young men into
gentlemen and to make a declaration of faith in England. However, the more important purpose of the
Faerie Queene is its allegory, the meaning behind its characters and events. The story s setting is a
fanciful faerie land, that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The turning point in the poem occurs during his time at the House of Holiness; when the Redcrosse
Knight is in despair, he nearly gives up on his quest, and on himself. It is important to notice that it is
Una who has to persuade him out of his misery, it is her who must save him many times throughout the
story. The Redcrosse Knight has to face his inner self, he is able to transform, and this is partly what
grants his success at the end. Every time, Spenser is trying to get readers to realize the incredible
difference between Protestantism and Catholicism; to show them that England needs the true religion to
receive the gifts of God s power. Throughout The Faerie Queene, there are female representations, the
most prominent female characters are Una and Duessa. These female characters show a certain form of
power; Una has the heavenly power of truth in contrast to Duessa s power of falsehood and black
magic. Although they have individual power, both share a common feminine power over men. Spenser
uses the female characters to represent the path of good and the path of evil respectively, by pairing
these characters with the Redcrosse Knight, he illustrates the power, whether good or evil that women
possess to compel men to action. When Archimago gives the knight erotic dreams of Una, the false
image of her, drives him to leave the real Una; he is a representation of the

Climbers Persuasive Speech
Imagine yourself getting ready to rescue a climber stuck on top of a mountain. There you are in the
helicopter reaching out to the distressed climber, but all of a sudden you fall down thousands and
thousands of feet to your death. You just risked your life to save someone who was not ready. People
putting their lives at stake for someone who was not ready is not acceptable.
The cost to rescue someone is unbelievable. According to Nick Heil The B3 cost about $2 million
apiece and quite expensive to operate (Van, line 54 56) This means that for every rescue they carry out
means more money they need to pay the bill but they also need to make a profit. Also, Robert Siegel
stated, Is a part of the issue here that these rescue choppers give climbers a false or at least, a rather
expensive sense of security, and that makes them more willing to take risks. That statement talks about
how climbers feel safe because they know they are going to get rescued, but they also know that flying

Greek Informative Speech
Hi everybody, My name is Mary and I am going to be your docent for the day. Today we are going to
be learning about two different kinds of ancient artwork. I am going to be showing you examples from
ancient Egyptian art and ancient Greek art. First off we are going to learn about ancient Greek art. The
Greeks mastered the idea of sculpture, in earlier times the sculptures looked fake but by the classical
period they started looking more natural with realistic looking faces. The Greeks also liked to make
pottery out of stone and clay, they usually would have mythological or religious scenes on them and
grew more realistic over time. The first ancient Greek art that we will be learning about today is the
Winged Victory of Samothrace. It was created around 220 185 BC made from parian and rhodian
marble. On April 15, 1863 workers were excavating and uncovered parts of a statue. They then sent it
to the Louvre, where it is currently on display. You can t tell from the picture, but can you believe that
this statue is over 18 feet tall!! It has been suggested that she was once holding something in her right
hand, such as a trumpet, wreath, or a fillet. The base of the sculpture is made up of 23 blocks of marble.
The next piece of art that we will be learning about is the Laocoon and his Sons. This sculpture was

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe Christian Themes Essay
Christian Symbolism in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe C. S. Lewis was a brilliant author
known for his fictional novels as well as his Christian apologetics works. Religion was a large part of
his life, and he utilized such themes throughout his fiction books. The first book in The Chronicles of
Narnia series, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, exemplifies such overlap. Lewis inserted
fundamental Christian themes into this novel, allowing his religion to influence his work. C. S. Lewis
creates Christian entities within his book due to his own coming into religion. He was not originally a
religious sort of boy. He grew up in a scholarly household with his older brother, Warren, in Belfast,
Northern Ireland. His parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They meet the lion, Aslan, who is symbolic of Jesus due to his nomadic nature and enigma of
personality traits. The White Witch is indicative of the devil because of her portrayed evil attributes and
her tempting some from the path of good. Aslan s death on the stone slab is representative of Jesus
crucifixion on the cross. Various literature critics elaborate on these instances of religious overlap.
Within The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Lewis exemplifies the lion, Aslan, as Jesus Christ. The
lion s unconditional love for anyone that comes to him for help is exemplary of Jesus for all his sheep.
Aslan gave himself so Edmund could be saved. Likewise, Jesus sacrificed his own life so that mankind
could receive salvation (Rize 1). With Aslan representing Jesus, he is willing to do anything for the love
of his people, even those that have strayed. Within humanity there are many sinners, but Jesus died so
everyone, including the wrongdoers, could eventually go to heaven. His followers found this to be a
conflicting because they did not understand why the criminals deserved the same love from him they
received. Edmund and the Witch thought the same thing of Aslan when he volunteered to die in
Edmund s place. This shows the profoundness of Christ and Aslan s behavior that may never be
understood in its entirety. Aslan is a simultaneously a frightening and benevolent lion... [The Pevensie

Cinematography in Godfather the Movie Essay
Mario Puzo s The Godfather was the first and most influential gangster movie that paved the way for
gangster movies of the future. The movie was directed by Frances Ford Copolla, who made many
different ingenious ways to portray this gangster classic. The movie was a very subversive movie, and
one of the first of all time. The Godfather has a many different uses of light settings through the whole
movie, in which the movie can be interpreted on.
The lighting in The Godfather, is very dim and is often said to be compared with a Rembrant. The
lighting suggest many things throughout the film like a painting. The light scenes in the movie are to

The most perfect example of their family values is when Don comes home from the Hospital and the
family ahs a big dinner, and they do not talk business at the table. When the Family is look on as a
regular family as you get drawn in, you then see surprisingly and rudely awakened to the killings of the
movie.
The director of the movie(Frances Ford Copolla) has a very good use of montage, and long shots.
Capolla starts off the movie with an extrodonary shot of an undertaker saying this is America. Which
gives a glimpse of how haunting the film is going to be? A good use of long shots is perfect when the
camera pans around the long shot as Mikey takes on the responsibility of getting revenge for his fathers
shooting. Also a good example of Copolla s long shots is when the film is about to end and there is a
shot of Diane Keaton looking so innocent and really knowing nothing of the family business. In the
film, montage is used in the baptism scene. The shots cut when all the highly religious questions are
asked of Mike, and then the shots start cutting back in forth from the killings of the head s of the other
top five family s and the baptism, portraying mike as a changing person(a god man to an evil one.)
The music of The Godfather, is very haunting and scary at times, but also takes on a folklore type of
theme. I think the music is typical for this type of film, but it does contribute a lot to the family values

The Role Of Playing Game ( Frpg ) Or Dungeons Dragons (...
When you hear the words Fantasy Role Playing Game (FRPG) or Dungeons Dragons (DnD) there is a
certain level of nurtured bias that is applied to the people who are interested in these things. If you were
to paint a picture of someone who plays this type of thing I m sure that person would have glasses, be
overweight, and probably have difficulty socializing as a normal person. However, you might also see
those same people as having above average intelligence and probably have a good job. The stereotypes
surrounding FRPGs are generally negative with positive undertones, most likely because of a lack of
general information regarding the FRPG community and those who take part in it. Having played some
FRPGs myself, I can say without a doubt that I wouldn t bring up the fact that I play DnD to say, a
pretty girl who I m attempting to court. However, maybe the fact that I ve played FRPGs is helping me
court this woman, or perhaps even make friends and socialize better than I had before. This essay will
concern itself not with just the negative stereotypes and proving or disproving them. But with the
culture and impact of FRPGs as a whole. I believe FRPGs in the United States have a positive impact
on the social development of young adults. When analyzing a specific subjects effects on a person s
social skills, it s important to understand as much as possible about what it means to engage in this
activity. Now while there is an array of different FRPGs, the biggest difference

And, I m almost sure they put 2Pac on the cover of the Makaveli album posed as Jesus Christ for

the first 3 seconds of the Makaveli album your hear someone say Suge Shot Him . You hear the voice

knew what was going on with Suge Knight killing him or was it just some publicity stunt for more

The Most Important Elements Of Medieval Architecture In...
Many people have heard of fairy tales in which monarchs live in grand, stone castles. These castles did,
in fact, exist; they were built and became popular during the Medieval era. Medieval architecture was
divided into two main styles: Gothic and Romanesque. In addition to castles, numerous personal
manors, basilicas, and cathedrals were constructed. This architectural movement was paired with both
the expansion of Catholicism and the transition between the middle ages and modern history. The most
important elements of Medieval architecture are appearance and design, purpose, and connections to
the history of eastern Europe.
The buildings constructed in Medieval times differed from their predecessors both in the the interior
and exterior design. As mentioned in the article Architecture in Shakespeare s Time, in most large
houses there was a chapel, which was often treated in a style more domestic than ecclesiastical, and
thus differed from the chapels in Medieval houses, a difference due most likely to the change in
religious outlook (Gotch). During the Medieval times, religion was flourishing in Europe following the
fall of the Roman Empire. Also in most homes was a gallery. Noted by one source, The gallery was a
room peculiar to this period; it came into fashion with Hampton Court, about 1530; it was an essential
feature of all the large Elizabethan and Jacobean houses, and it went out of fashion about a hundred
years after its introduction (Gotch). Gotch also

  • 2. Causes Of Valley Forge Dbq Essay The cold, harsh winter in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania dejects the soldiers who continue to starve, freeze, and remain ill. The Continental Army doesn t even know whether they will survive due to these bad conditions, and most of the soldiers start to lose their hope, strength, and willingness. It all started when George Washington was granted the general of the American army by the Continental Congress in 1775. His soldiers have been struggling day and night to fight for their independence and freedom. However, Washington s troops were forced to retreat to Pennsylvania by the British army, and are now stuck in the winter camp at Valley Forge. It is cold, the air is smokey, and there is no supplies or goods left for the soldiers. Also, there is a disease spreading around the camp like a virus that continues to infect the Continental Army. How will they ever ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be shown in Document C which was written in 1777 by Dr. Albigence Waldo who was a Connecticut surgeon who helped care for the sick soldiers. This doctor wrote, A general cry thro the Camp this Evening among the Soldiers, No Meat! No Meat! the Distant vales Echo d back the melancholy sound No Meat! No Meat! (Waldo, 1777) This means that during the winter, the army had no meat to strengthen the soldiers and provide them protein. This also means that they soldiers probably starved during their miserable time at Valley Forge. This is significant because without meat, the soldiers will not be capable of facing the British army. Therefore, their energy will soon run out because they will be running and fighting on an empty stomach. Clearly, the soldiers should leave the winter camp because they will likely die if they stay. The troops could also die because they will potentially die from the cold due to the lack of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Educational Experience For Learners Of All Ages The arts are essential to providing a healthy educational experience for learners of all ages. Though treated by many as frivolous subjects, they provide vital tools for communication, engagement and successful instruction. It makes sense to incorporate the arts across the curriculum not only will schools improve, but students will develop important social and emotional skills, we will save money in the long run by keeping our students learning and engaged in work, and we will make the world a more beautiful place. To quote Charles Fowler (1994), The arts are not pretty bulletin boards. They are not turkeys and bunny rabbits. They are not frivolous entertainment. The arts are our humanity. They are the languages of civilization through which we express our fears, our anxieties, our hungers, our struggles, our hopes. They are systems of meaning that have real utility. This is why schools that provide students with the means and the encouragement to explore these realms provide a better education. (p.9). It is time for us to acknowledge as a society that schools are not just a building in which we instruct students on math, science and reading (though the arts would still be a vital tool even if that were the case). They are where students develop the skills essential to being human. Simply put, the arts can only benefit our schools, and should we choose to make them a priority, we will see definitive success. Using the arts in an academic setting allows teachers to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Experience, Perceive And Interact With The Sites Through... As the principal question is to examine how we experience, perceive and interact with the site through our senses and body, in this section I present excerpts from the interview transcripts which are then analysed to obtain an understanding of sensory qualities of the site. In any site dance, it is not only the performers who are interrogating space through movements, but it also extends to an audience who experiences it. For a better structuring, I have divided this section into two parts: the first part focuses on how the dancers engage to depict the site through various sensory receptors and the latter part discusses the multiple constructions of the sites through the viewers sensuous subjectivity. Through these sections I endeavour to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Dusk the performance is designed imaginatively to retrace the histories of the place and to acknowledge the land (as evidenced in set of movement vocabularies built upon bhumi namaskar), agreed by Harrison and Subramaniam. Both Subramaniam and Harrison s narratives contained abundant tactile metaphors about having contacts with grass underfoot (Fig 5.5.1.1). Subramaniam informed me that: We had choreographed and rehearsed in a studio, so the texture of the grass made it difficult to move initially (Facebook interview, April 29, 2013). From the transcription I found that the dancers variously depicted the site as: soft , resistant , hard , uneven (texture), huge , small , magnanimous (size), airy , fresh , stuffy (olfactory), illuminated , dark (visibility) and sacred (belief). As most of the dance artists and dancers agreed that it was meant to pay tribute to the site, I narrow down my discussion to the concept of sacredness drawing on a set of three selected photos and narratives. Subramaniam said that: The stones felt sacred, each was feeling like a deity with personality and compassion. We were blessed with extraordinarily good weather and the sun provided perfect lighting (Facebook interview, April 29, 2013). Dusk expands the concept of sacredness through cultural and religious appropriations. In Fig 5.5.1.1 the proximate vicinity of the stones forces the dancers to experience them as skin. • 5. Emotional Labor For many people who are employed, there are various tasks they must do, in regards to their job. One of the requirements of several jobs is emotional labor, which is an act that many partake in, without realizing. They assume that it is simply expected to greet all customers with a smile and to suppress any negative emotions that may arise while working. Some of the jobs that involve emotional labor include working in retail, fast food and so forth. In this paper, the job I will focus on is working at a call center. I will discuss the emotional labor that takes place, and my experience performing emotional labor. I will begin by giving a brief definition of emotional labor through the perspective of Allie Hoschild. I will then give a general ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because the female workers are expected to sound more cheerful rather than aggressive, customers feel less hesitant in expressing their frustration. According to Hoschild, because a woman s gender is accorded lower status, a woman s shield against abuse is weaker (Hoschild, 1983, p. 175). Because of the lower status shield, female workers have a tendency to be more abused than male workers. Another aspect of the call center that is gendered is on the emphasis of competition. Pierce mentions how lawyering can be a game and that male litigators compar[e] the number of wins to the courtoom and the dollar amount of damages as a way to show off their manliness (Pierce, 2004, p. 78). At the call center, competition is also a factor. Rewards such as commission is offered once an employee reaches a target for the amount of sales. This can be seen as a performance contingent reward. Being able to leave work early but get paid for all hours, having the monthly opus card paid are among some of the rewards that are offered. The rewards reinforce competition but so does having a quota system. One observation I made while working at the call center was that male workers tended to brag about the amount of sales they had made if it passed the quota system or how they were ... • 6. The Importance Of Evidence Based Practice In Nursing Evidence based practice in nursing includes blending clinical judgment and expertise with the best available research and patient characteristics and preference. (Treas Wilkinson,2014, p. 104) It requires a transition from nursing care that is base on opinions, past practices, and tradition to practice that is base on scientific research and proven evidence. (Catalano, 2015, p. 589) The goal of evidence based practice is to improve the quality of care by identifying the most cost efficient treatments for a particular disease. The process of evidence based includes formulating answerable questions example would be interventions, conducting a systematic review of research, evaluating the quality of evidence obtained, compiling and analyzing the data to prepare a structured report review, translating the evidence into guidelines for practice, and integrating the guidelines and evidence with clinical expertise and the patient s preference and characteristics. From the scenario, I want to discuss checking gastric tube placement by injecting air and auscultating the abdomen. Describe how you will address this gap in nursing practice with your preceptor. For all infants and children every two hours the oral cavity should be moistened and the lips should be coated with petroleum jelly. For children with teeth it is recommended that the teeth be brushed every twelve hours with fluoride toothpaste, oral cavity suctioning should be done frequently but do not rinse the mouth. Like many respiratory problems the head of the bed should always be elevated to between 30 and 45 degrees to prevent aspiration of fluids and sputum. The tubing for the ventilator should only be changed on a as needed basis. The continuous changing of tubes moves the bacteria and can introduce new bacteria into the respiratory system. Dependability is what gets things done in tight positions where little to no time is available to get others to help. In addition, the same can also be said for dangerous situations. Everyday, we as American depend on our Government, Military, and Police and Fire Departments to graciously give us our chance at the most successful life that makes each of us happy and gives us the strength to get out of bed in the morning. • 16. The Between Vietnamese And American Education Essay Entering Tran Phu High School, I remember there was a huge white banner with bold letters, For the sake of ten years, we must plant trees; for the sake of a hundred years, we should cultivate people. In fact, the process of cultivating people requires lots of effort, as much as planting a tree. To ensure a tree develops successfully, not only do people plant it into the ground, but they must also take care of it regularly. Undoubtedly, sharing the same task as planting a tree, education plays an integral role in contributing to people s success. Fortunately, having a chance to experience with Vietnamese and American educational systems, I have realized each one has its own value of educating people. Although both attempt to cultivate people, they have striking differences. One difference between Vietnamese and American education is their rules regarding students appearances and their behaviors. First of all, most Vietnamese students must wear uniforms and show up in a natural looking appearance. Specifically, students must wear white shirts and long dark blue pants and tuck in the shirts. Also, girls are not allowed to wear makeup, color their hair, or even paint their nails. Boys must have a clean short haircut. Secondly, in Vietnam, students must display appropriate manners at school such as showing fully respectable behavior towards their teachers and not treating their classmates cruelly. Nuclear Weapon Production Of Nuclear Weapons Essay Nuclear Weapon Production Apocalypse Hunter Honeycutt Western Kentucky University Glasgow Nuclear Weapon Production Apocalypse If the production of nuclear weaponry is not diminished, it will cause the end of everything. With the production of nuclear weapons increasing, it will only be a matter of time until a nuclear war breaks out. When a nuclear weapon is used, it has three killing modes. The first would be the impact, when the bomb first hits. The second would be the shockwave that extends outward a good deal. Thirdly, the radiation effect would kill several more after that. How does a nuclear weapon work you might ask? Well there are two ways a nuclear weapon can work. One is nuclear fission and the other is nuclear fusion. In nuclear fission, the nucleus of an atom is split in two by a neutron. To do this, isotopes will need to be present such as uranium (uranium 235, uranium 233) or plutonium (plutonium 239) (Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament). An isotope is the same element but with different numbers. Nuclear fusion is kind of how the sun works. According to Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, two small atoms are fused together to create one large atoms. This typically requires hydrogen or hydrogen isotopes (deuterium, tritium), to form a larger one (helium isotopes) (Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament). What is lacking is not sufficient knowledge of the solution but universal consciousness of the gravity of the problem and education of the billions who are its victim. This was said by Martin Luther King, Jr on May 5, 1966. If this was said almost 49 years ago by one of the greatest leaders of American history, why hasn t the issue of overpopulation been solved yet? His author, Edmund Spenser, makes use of biblical and classic allegories to tell his story, that more than have been a religious writing, the poem s purpose was to educate, to turn young men into gentlemen and to make a declaration of faith in England. The Redcrosse Knight has to face his inner self, he is able to transform, and this is partly what grants his success at the end. Every time, Spenser is trying to get readers to realize the incredible difference between Protestantism and Catholicism; to show them that England needs the true religion to receive the gifts of God s power. These female characters show a certain form of power; Una has the heavenly power of truth in contrast to Duessa s power of falsehood and black magic. • 29. Greek Informative Speech Hi everybody, My name is Mary and I am going to be your docent for the day. Today we are going to be learning about two different kinds of ancient artwork. I am going to be showing you examples from ancient Egyptian art and ancient Greek art. First off we are going to learn about ancient Greek art. The Greeks mastered the idea of sculpture, in earlier times the sculptures looked fake but by the classical period they started looking more natural with realistic looking faces. The Greeks also liked to make pottery out of stone and clay, they usually would have mythological or religious scenes on them and grew more realistic over time. The first ancient Greek art that we will be learning about today is the Winged Victory of Samothrace. It was created around 220 185 BC made from parian and rhodian marble. On April 15, 1863 workers were excavating and uncovered parts of a statue. They then sent it to the Louvre, where it is currently on display. You can t tell from the picture, but can you believe that this statue is over 18 feet tall!! It has been suggested that she was once holding something in her right hand, such as a trumpet, wreath, or a fillet. The base of the sculpture is made up of 23 blocks of marble. • 30. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe Christian Themes Essay Christian Symbolism in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe C. S. Lewis was a brilliant author known for his fictional novels as well as his Christian apologetics works. Religion was a large part of his life, and he utilized such themes throughout his fiction books. The first book in The Chronicles of Narnia series, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, exemplifies such overlap. Lewis inserted fundamental Christian themes into this novel, allowing his religion to influence his work. C. S. Lewis creates Christian entities within his book due to his own coming into religion. He was not originally a religious sort of boy. He grew up in a scholarly household with his older brother, Warren, in Belfast, Northern Ireland. His parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They meet the lion, Aslan, who is symbolic of Jesus due to his nomadic nature and enigma of personality traits. The White Witch is indicative of the devil because of her portrayed evil attributes and her tempting some from the path of good. Aslan s death on the stone slab is representative of Jesus crucifixion on the cross. Various literature critics elaborate on these instances of religious overlap. Within The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Lewis exemplifies the lion, Aslan, as Jesus Christ. The lion s unconditional love for anyone that comes to him for help is exemplary of Jesus for all his sheep. Aslan gave himself so Edmund could be saved. Likewise, Jesus sacrificed his own life so that mankind could receive salvation (Rize 1). With Aslan representing Jesus, he is willing to do anything for the love of his people, even those that have strayed. Within humanity there are many sinners, but Jesus died so everyone, including the wrongdoers, could eventually go to heaven. His followers found this to be a conflicting because they did not understand why the criminals deserved the same love from him they received. Edmund and the Witch thought the same thing of Aslan when he volunteered to die in Edmund s place. This shows the profoundness of Christ and Aslan s behavior that may never be understood in its entirety. Aslan is a simultaneously a frightening and benevolent lion... • 31. Cinematography in Godfather the Movie Essay Mario Puzo s The Godfather was the first and most influential gangster movie that paved the way for gangster movies of the future. The movie was directed by Frances Ford Copolla, who made many different ingenious ways to portray this gangster classic. The movie was a very subversive movie, and one of the first of all time. The Godfather has a many different uses of light settings through the whole movie, in which the movie can be interpreted on. The lighting in The Godfather, is very dim and is often said to be compared with a Rembrant. The lighting suggest many things throughout the film like a painting. The light scenes in the movie are to portray the Corleone family as good people, someone you could relate to not look down upon. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most perfect example of their family values is when Don comes home from the Hospital and the family ahs a big dinner, and they do not talk business at the table. When the Family is look on as a regular family as you get drawn in, you then see surprisingly and rudely awakened to the killings of the movie. The director of the movie(Frances Ford Copolla) has a very good use of montage, and long shots. Capolla starts off the movie with an extrodonary shot of an undertaker saying this is America. Which gives a glimpse of how haunting the film is going to be? A good use of long shots is perfect when the camera pans around the long shot as Mikey takes on the responsibility of getting revenge for his fathers shooting. Also a good example of Copolla s long shots is when the film is about to end and there is a shot of Diane Keaton looking so innocent and really knowing nothing of the family business. In the film, montage is used in the baptism scene. The shots cut when all the highly religious questions are asked of Mike, and then the shots start cutting back in forth from the killings of the head s of the other top five family s and the baptism, portraying mike as a changing person(a god man to an evil one.) The music of The Godfather, is very haunting and scary at times, but also takes on a folklore type of theme. I think the music is typical for this type of film, but it does contribute a lot to the family values ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. The Role Of Playing Game ( Frpg ) Or Dungeons Dragons (... When you hear the words Fantasy Role Playing Game (FRPG) or Dungeons Dragons (DnD) there is a certain level of nurtured bias that is applied to the people who are interested in these things. If you were to paint a picture of someone who plays this type of thing I m sure that person would have glasses, be overweight, and probably have difficulty socializing as a normal person. However, you might also see those same people as having above average intelligence and probably have a good job. The stereotypes surrounding FRPGs are generally negative with positive undertones, most likely because of a lack of general information regarding the FRPG community and those who take part in it. Having played some FRPGs myself, I can say without a doubt that I wouldn t bring up the fact that I play DnD to say, a pretty girl who I m attempting to court. However, maybe the fact that I ve played FRPGs is helping me court this woman, or perhaps even make friends and socialize better than I had before. This essay will concern itself not with just the negative stereotypes and proving or disproving them. But with the culture and impact of FRPGs as a whole. I believe FRPGs in the United States have a positive impact on the social development of young adults. When analyzing a specific subjects effects on a person s social skills, it s important to understand as much as possible about what it means to engage in this activity. Now while there is an array of different FRPGs, the biggest difference ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. The Most Important Elements Of Medieval Architecture In... Many people have heard of fairy tales in which monarchs live in grand, stone castles. These castles did, in fact, exist; they were built and became popular during the Medieval era. Medieval architecture was divided into two main styles: Gothic and Romanesque. In addition to castles, numerous personal manors, basilicas, and cathedrals were constructed. This architectural movement was paired with both the expansion of Catholicism and the transition between the middle ages and modern history. The most important elements of Medieval architecture are appearance and design, purpose, and connections to the history of eastern Europe. The buildings constructed in Medieval times differed from their predecessors both in the the interior and exterior design. As mentioned in the article Architecture in Shakespeare s Time, in most large houses there was a chapel, which was often treated in a style more domestic than ecclesiastical, and thus differed from the chapels in Medieval houses, a difference due most likely to the change in religious outlook (Gotch). During the Medieval times, religion was flourishing in Europe following the fall of the Roman Empire. Also in most homes was a gallery. Noted by one source, The gallery was a room peculiar to this period; it came into fashion with Hampton Court, about 1530; it was an essential feature of all the large Elizabethan and Jacobean houses, and it went out of fashion about a hundred years after its introduction (Gotch).
