Free Is A Free Country
My people living in The United States take being a free country for granted. Many citizens do not
realize how many different countries are not free, or only partial free. One country that is partially free
is Papua New Guinea, this country is located north of Australia, which is a free country. A country that
is not free is Zimbabwe, which is located in the continent of Africa. Africa has countries that are free,
partially, and not free. However they are mainly not free. People who live in a non free or partially
free country live very different live than people in a free country. Countries run their government in
many different ways. Some countries use a majority rule and others choose a different route. The
United States is run by a president that serves a four year term, and is elected by the people. The
president is supported by the members of the House of Representatives and the Senate. In Papua New
Guinea, a partially free country, is run by a unicameral that is voted by the people. Voters have the
option of voting for up to three people, and the candidate with the most votes wins. There are 111
members in the National Parliament. According to DemocracyWeb, the governor general, who
represents the United Kingdom s monarch as head of state, formally appoints the prime minister, who
leads the majority party or coalition in the legislature (1). This is an example of how the government
continues to take control of the people of Papua New Guinea. Unlike

Types Of Contingencies, Designing A Contingency, And Owner...
According to Gunhan and Arditi (2007), there were three types of contingencies, namely designer s
contingency, contractor s contingency, and owner s contingency. They claimed that the best method to
predict contingency was to use previous experiences. They mentioned that a detailed study of four
factors, namely site conditions, schedule constraints, project scope, and constructability issues could
play an important role either in preventing the CO or reducing the chances of needing a big
contingency money. Smith et al. (1999) stated that the wise decision on the amount of contingency
used while bidding could have effects on whether wining of the contract. They interviewed 12
contractors on the contingency calculation method and found that among these contractors, nobody
was aware of any kind of estimation method for the contingency amount. Whenever, these contractors
used contingency, they simply followed the traditional approach of adding some percentages to the
base cost as contingencies. Mac and Picken (2000) conducted a study on two types of projects, namely
estimating using risk analysis (ERA) and non ERA projects. They made comparison between 45 ERA
projects with 287 non ERA projects and found that ERA method helped to reduce the unnecessary risk
allowances in projects. According to the authors, Hong Kong government was implementing this ERA
technique in public construction projects. In the ERA method, they described that the cost determined

Dell Supply Chain Strategy Essay
An overview of Dell Inc s Supply chain
OMS 511
Introduction
The Personal Computer industry has revolutionized the way of life. Technological forces have the
most significant influence on the computer hardware industry. The extremely short product life cycle
for computers, influenced by the upgrade cycle, has both positive and negative effects on companies
within the industry. It challenges companies to maintain superior inventory management and supplier
relationships: areas where Dell excels. Technological change also drives waves of additional computer
purchases within a mature market.
Dell, Inc was the first major company to really seize the opportunity of selling via internet. It was
founded in 1984 by Michael Dell. Traditionally, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By being in direct contact with the changing market, Dell is able to sense the altering customer
demands and synchronize its operations through internal collaboration to meet these demands before
its competitors. The market demands keep changing quickly which makes it difficult to foresee them.
It is a challenge to meet these demands and hence Dell focuses on managing them by continuously
rebalancing the demand and supply. If the demand exceeds supply, the company works with its
suppliers and looks out for external options to meet the exceeding demands. It also focuses on demand
shift through product promotion on its web portal in no time (Brian, 2004)
Internal collaboration: One of the key aspects in the success of Dell supply chain is ‗internal
collaboration . Through this, Dell sometimes tries to shift the demand using product promotion on its
web portal. The company s direct communication system helps its ‗people to communicate within
different hierarchical levels. ‗Direct refers not only to communication with its customers, suppliers
and vendors but also with its employees and team members.
Leveraging partners: Dell signals its suppliers about the customer demand, the projected market shifts
and sourcing strategies and in return expects the suppliers to share information regarding new
technology drivers and capacity outlooks. With the help of information systems, it pools data on
demand and supply trends. It also

Analyzing Oprah s Book Club
The information community I have chosen to study is book clubs. With the use of the Internet, social
media, and e books, today s version of a modern book club can vary. Book clubs have a long and rich
history, and help promote literacy through out the area. Book clubs also give readers a voice and
opinion they might not otherwise have, as book clubs also help improve a reader s lifestyle.
Past experiences with book clubs such as Oprah s Book Club is an excellent tool to help attract readers
as well as to reinforce an old past time, Oprah s Book Club also helped paved the way for a larger
audience and it also helped others expand in the book club world as well. With new modern

The Holiday s of Suriname
Suriname is a small country located on the northern coast of South America. The people of Suriname
take their holidays and other celebrations very seriously. Suriname celebrates many of the same
holidays as the rest of the world, but also celebrates many of their own holidays. Phagwah Day is a
very popular Hindu holiday, celebrated in Suriname. This holiday is celebrated on the last full moon of
the lunar month, known as Phalguna. Phalguna is the twelfth month on the Hindu calendar, the same
calendar that governs the Hindu religious life. Phagwah Day is celebrated all over the country at
festivals and parties. Phagwah Day marks the beginning of spring in Suriname, and is known in
Suriname as the festival of color. The people, who go the Phagwah festivals, wear the color white to
show that they are ready to celebrate and get dirty. Today, Hinduism is one of the main religions in
Suriname, and at one point was the most common religion. This may be a key factor in why Phagwah
Day is so popular in Suriname. Although Phagwah Day is a very popular holiday, the people of
Suriname celebrate even larger holidays. Boxing Day is the holiday that is celebrated the day after
Christmas by the adults in Suriname. Boxing Day is a holiday in which the employees of a company
are given the day off and receive a gift from their boss. Boxing Day is celebrated in many of the
commonwealth countries around the world. Boxing Day is said to be a European holiday that dated
back to the Middle Ages.

The History Of Antarctica
Antarctica has no native population. Its residents are scientific and support staff who usually stay no
more than a year at a time. The first person born in Antarctica was Emilio Palma, on January 7, 1978,
the son of the commander of Argentina s Esperanza Base.
Antarctica is more than 95% ice covered and contains about 90% of the world s fresh water. Because
of this thick ice cover, it is highest of all continents, with an average elevation of more than 1,600 m
(about 5,250 ft.). The highest point on the continent is Vinson Massif (5,140 m/16,864 ft); the lowest
appears to be Bentley Subglacial Trench (2,499 m/ 8,200 ft below sea level) in West Antarctica. This
trench is covered with more than 3,000 m (more than 9,840 ft) of ice and snow. Lower points may exit

Similarities Between Animal Farm And Animal Farm
Two visions; Different Results
In George Orwell s novel Animal Farm he asserts that following blindly , will lead to government
abuse and corruption. Orwell s assertion brings life to the philosophy that a utopian atmosphere can
never exist. Orwell s purpose is to deliver the idea of communism not being successful and to make
the audience reading not want to get into communism. George Orwell informs the young audience of
the danger with communism. Orwell was a very cynical individual when it came to writing Animal
Farm . There were many similarities and differences between Martin Luther King Jr. and the character,
Old Major in Animal Farm. One similar political equality between the two figures is they both had a
vision or dream of inspiring the masses of people to dream of a better future. between two groups of
people. Despite having so many similarities between the two there are also several differences as well.
Such as, the animals had different rights to fight for, for example, the animals were being overworked
by Mr. Jones and they were not receiving enough food. On the other side, the blacks, during the
Martin Luther King Jr. time period, were not able to go in the same bathroom as whites. The Blacks
had restrictions to their rights in the idea of not being able to pursue certain circumstances as the
whites did.
The historical figure Martin Luther King Jr. had many similarities and differences with the character in
Animal Farm, Old Major. Both individuals had visions of rebellion but Martin Luther had the
mentality of peaceful rebellion, while olf major wanted violence. The significant events between
Martin Luther King Jr. and Old Major was the Beasts of England speech and the I have a Dream
speech. Old Major used Beasts of England to show the animals his vision or dream for the farm. Also,
Martin Luther King Jr. used I have a Dream to bring light to the idea of black rights. Old Major and
Martin Luther King Jr. both had both a goal in their mind for what they want there atmosphere to be.
In Animal Farm, the speech Beasts of England was used and it said Beasts of England, Beasts of
England, Beasts of every land and clime, hearken to my joyful tidings (orwell 12) The quotes from the

Sublime Analysis
In the short stories, both Hawthorne and Poe communicate the Romantic and Gothic element of the
unachievable aspect of the sublime, which expresses the relationship of creation between each text. In
The Artist of the Beautiful , Owen, an insightful watchmaker, devotes his entire life to replicate the
beauty in nature and strives to perfect it into the form of a mechanical butterfly. Owen succeeds in his
creation of Nature s ideal butterfly , but this comes only for a short spell before Peter Hovenden s
grandson destroys the beautiful machine (Hawthorne, The Artist 1153). Hawthorne notes how the
painter leaves half his conception on the canvas to sadden us with its imperfect beauty, and goes to
picture forth the whole, if be no irreverence to say ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They do this knowing that they will be able to perfect their work in the hues of Heaven . Hawthorne
combines this aspect of the sublime being unachievable on earth in The Birthmark . Aylmer, a scientist
and philosopher, is appalled by his wife, Georgiana s birthmark and strives to create an elixir vitae to
remove it (Hawthorne, The Birthmark 1027). Hawthorne describes Aylmer s ambition to create the
elixir of life, but evidently Aylmer knows that it would produce a discord in Nature which all the
world, and chiefly the quaffer of the immortal nostrum, would find a cause to curse (1027).
Hawthorne continues his use of the unachievable sublime in creation, in that even Aylmer knows of
the fact that Nature, in other terms the earth, would be able to cause curse or ruin, as it does so with
Georgiana s death. Hawthorne describes the elixir of life as an immortal nostrum , further claiming
that the elixir is only an indefinite scheme that is unable to fully immortalize humans, which supports
the claim that the perfection of beauty and immortalization is only attainable in

Essay on Comparison of Jackson s Short Story The Lottery...
Almost every person in the world holds a set of traditions which have been established and practiced
for a long period of time. However, some traditions often cause us to not see the rationality despite of
the destructive nature it may have. In Shirley Jackson s short story, The Lottery , a sacrifice of one s
life becomes the jackpot of an annual event held in a small town. This society s traditions have caused
the people to do away with their rational thoughts and the values of their lives as they have become so
stuck in their own cultural beliefs.
In the short story, The Lottery , Jackson s use of symbols reveals a twisting plot that isn t recognizable

Here in this village, the lottery only takes about two hours with the 300 residents that currently live
there. In some towns, the lottery takes nearly two days and must be started on the 26th. Jackson writes
it could begin at ten o clock in the morning and still be through in time to allow the villagers to get
home for noon dinner (156). This states that they want to get this completed so they can return home
with their families and have a family lunch. Relaying no emotion to the fact that death is the outcome
of this whole ordeal.
In the film The Lottery the setting is more modern and appears to be in the 1960 s even. You are able
to identify this due to the articles of clothing they possess, the way the towns people do their hair and
make up in some sort. Another clue is the shops out front of the town square, compared to the short
story; it was led to believe as if none of that had come into place at the time. Also the area seems to be
more industrialized than a rural town would be i.e. automobiles. It is never clear as to what day it may
be until the characters give dialogue of the other towns having to start the lottery a day ahead June
27th. The town s people seem to have much more concern and empathy in the film rather than the
short story because of the emphasis they put on the characters faces and their dialogue. Mrs.

Methicillin-Resistant Mythoiccus Aureus (MRSA)
Antibiotic resistance which can be defined as the ability of bacteria and other microorganisms to resist
the effects of an antibiotic to which they were once sensitive.8 Antibiotic resistance mainly results
from misuse of antibiotics which can be categorized as intensive and extended use of antibiotics in
human and veterinary treatments where antibiotics were not required and improper disposal of
antibiotics in both hospital environment and community which in turn results an environmental impact
too.
Among the resistant bacterial strains Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) is the
major resistant pathological strain which is resistant to almost all antibiotics available in the world in
turn very difficult to cure and life threatening. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Intrinsic resistance is achieved by spontaneous gene mutation through replication where acquired
resistance results as an adaptation technique when bacteria in contact with antibiotic. Pathogenic
bacteria can gain resistance through several mechanisms such as acquire modification of active site of
the bacteria in turn results in reduction in the efficacy of binding of the drug, direct modification or
destruction of antibiotic by enzymes produced by bacteria or efflux of antibiotic from the bacterial cell
through efflux pumps. Bacterial species accomplish spreading the resistance through horizontal gene
transfer mechanisms such as transformation, transduction and conjugation via plasmids.
Antibiotic resistance has evolved as a result of the interactions between bacteria and antibiotic after an
antibiotic exposure. Bacterial species are capable of adapting to new antibiotic as simply as they adapt
to new environments due to their amazing genomic plasticity. This in turn results antibiotic resistance
to be very dynamic and unpredictable. Every year, almost 100,000 Americans die from antibiotic
resistant infections acquired from hospitals, largely because of the reduced effectiveness of existing
drugs, due to the development and propagation of drug resistance

Drive Hunting in the Oceans
Every year tens of thousands of marine mammals are killed all over the world, with over twenty
thousand small cetaceans killed in Japanese waters alone (Butterworth et al., 2013). These small
cetaceans include various species of small whales, many dolphin species and some porpoises. They
are killed in various manors, ranging from accidental ship strikes to the more morally controversial
yearly drive hunts. As you may know nearly all cetaceans use some sort of sound production in order
to navigate waters, communicate with other individuals and groups of their respective species as well
as capture prey (Brownell et al., 2008). An example of this is the variety sounds produced by
bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) when exploring and foraging. These types of noises vary
from echolocation, whistles and pops according to Nowacek (2005) which aid in location of prey, and
communication when hunting in groups. Bottlenose dolphins are one of the most well known cetacean
species (Bearzi et al., 2008). They inhabit various marine habitats across the world including just
about any region with a warm temperate to tropical ocean climate (Reeves et al., 2002). Just like many
other cetaceans they are well known for inhabiting coastal areas, which makes them particularly
vulnerable to human interaction and threats they wouldn t necessarily face on the coast of uninhabited
lands (Wilson et al., 2008). This use of sound is an extraordinary adaption for life under the sea, unless

The Three Witches In Shakespeare s Macbeth
One night, which was a dark and stormy night, Macbeth and Banquo were walking home. While on
this walk home, they ran into three witches. These three witches were sisters and the three witches
were speaking in rhymes. In their rhymes, they were saying that Macbeth would be thane of cawdor

and it would be his belief of the lies that would be the start of his downfall. Macbeth was a loyal
general to Duncan and served him well. He would lead a campaign that would bring him victory.
Macbeth was influenced by his wife, Lady Gruoch, to fulfill the prophecy and kill the king. With the
influence of his wife, Macbeth plots and kills Duncan. When Duncan came to Macbeth s castle to give

Electroniccircuits are then used to represent Boolean operations. Since almost all of mathematics can
be reduced to Boolean operations, a sufficiently fast electronic computer is capable of sloving almost
any mathematical problems (and the majority of information processing problems that can be
translated into mathematical ones). This basic idea, which made modern digital computers possible,
was formally identified and explored by Claude E. Shannon.
Computers cannot solve all mathematical problems. Alan Turing identified which problems could and
could not be solved by computers, and in doing so founded theoretical computer science.
When the computer is finished calculating the problem, the result must be displayed to the user as
output through output devices like light bulbs, LEDs, monitors, beamers and printers.
Novice users, especially children, often have difficulty understanding the important idea that the
computer is only a machine, and cannot think or understand the words it displays. The computer is
simply performing a mechanical lookup on preprogrammed tables of lines and colors, which are then
translated into arbitrary patterns of light by the output device. It is the human brain which recognizes
that those patterns form letters and numbers, and attaches meaning to them. All that existing
computers do is manipulate electrons that are logically equivalent to ones and zeroes; there are no

Red Hunting Hat Symbolism In Catcher In The Rye
Symbolism, in literature, is an extremely effective technique. Symbolism helps create a deeper and
more complex meaning to a story. In The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, the novel s protagonist,
Holden Caulfield is portrayed as an adolescent boy trying to understand who he is supposed to be. He
is at an extremely vulnerable time in his life since he has just been kicked out of Pencey Prep and
doesn t want his parents to find out. He makes the ultimate decision to leave the school before he is
officially kicked out and chooses to begin a new life of independence. The red hunting hat is an
extremely important symbol because it gives him a sense of protection and the ability to feel
invincible, when wearing it. Throughout the novel, the red hunting hat shows up in many main events
that happen to him during his new life as an independent person. Ultimately, the red hunting hat helps
him feel protected in a world of the unknown. Not only does the red hat symbolize protection, it also
represents Holden s uniqueness. The red hat is not a common article of clothing and it helps Holden
represent his own personal originality. In the beginning of the novel, Holden was informed that he had
been kicked out of his school, Pencey Prep. At this time, Holden was at a very vulnerable point in his
life. He did not know what he was supposed to do since he did not want his parents to find out. The
red hunting hat was introduced into the novel when he got off the subway in New York. It was the red
hunting hat, with one of those very, very long peaks. I saw it in the window of this sports store when
we got out of the subway, just after I noticed i d lost all the goddamn foils. It only cost me a buck. The
way I wore it, I swung the old peak way around to the back very corny I ll admit, but I liked it that
way (Salinger 21). This quote shows that the minute he saw the hunting hat in the store window it
gave him a sense of comfort and protection. When he bought the hat, he was in a vulnerable state
when he had forgotten the equipment on the subway. The hat gave him the ability to feel protected
from the disappointment he felt when he let his team down. The significance of the way he turned his
hat around is also important.

Effects Of Restrictive Contraceptive Legislation On...
Effects of Restrictive Contraceptive Legislation on Unintentional Teenage Pregnancy
Danielle Assibu Gilmore
Frontier Nursing University
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of restrictive contraceptive legislation on
unintended teenage pregnancy. Teenage pregnancy has declined steadily over the past 40 years,
however in the past decade the rate of pregnancy among adolescents is rising. Restrictive
contraceptive legislation such as abstinence only education, mandatory waiting periods, parental
notification laws, or Medicaid funding restrictions could all play a part in the increase of pregnancy in
teenagers. One study found funding for abstinence only education programs were linked to increased
birth rates among black and white adolescents (Yang Gaydos, 2010). Another study found restrictive
contraceptive legislation resulted in higher unintended pregnancy rates among adolescents. The

organizing of his many photos. He becomes encapsulated about what caused this Francis Jansen to be

This irks the curiosity in him and is why he most likely feels the need to organize the photos for

people he used the vague term might come in and wait for him in the studio (11). This disconnection

Using the Plays “Much Ado About Nothing” and “the Rover”,...
Using the plays Much Ado About Nothing and The Rover , discuss and compare each play s treatment
of women.
The Renaissance comedy, Much Ado About Nothing , written by Shakespeare in 1600 during the
Elizabethan era, addresses male inconstancy and female persecution; how women are controlled by
the prevailing patriarchal system. Hero, the conventional heroine, is a shrinking violet , who suffers
character assassination through male actions. The Rover , written in 1677 for the Restoration society
of Charles II where men were hedonistic, uncommitted and brimming with bravado, also explores
gender conflicts. However playwright, Aphra Behn, in this Restoration comedy, critically comments

However Behn offers the audience a scintilla of justification from this attempted rape, Wilmore
blaming the cursed sack he has drunken which might excuse him from the Restoration crowd, if not
later audiences.
Worse is to come in 4/2 when the masked Florinda hides in Blunt s lodgings from her brother. While
Wilmore is afforded drunken stupor as an excuse, Blunt s actions are motivated by misogynistic
revenge. Blunt s hatred for Lucetta the prostitute turns Florinda into an opportunity to wreak his
righteous revenge on womankind . Frederick s involvement also implicates the cavaliers behaviour as
he joins Blunt. Even Belvile s honourable status is doubted, Frederick referring to him as a cormorant
at whore and bacon . It is unsurprising that 18th century productions censored Blunt s most vicious
imagery to protect public tastes. The atmosphere becomes graver still as Florinda s brother ironically
wins the lottery using the length of their swords; an explicit phallic connotation, to take Florinda first.
Even the Restoration audience recognises Behn challenging male hypocrisies, by creating a situation
where the patriarchal protector himself is responsible for the loss of female virtue. The swiftness with
which Florinda accepts their apologies I heartily forgive you all provides the males, especially Blunt,
with undeserving

The Paradox Of The Hero
The Paradox of the Hero in Paradise Lost What exactly is a hero? A common pedestrian might say a
hero is someone who goes out of their way to help people. A child may say that a hero is someone
who performs valiant deeds. Merriam Webster Dictionary itself has 3 definitions of a hero: a person
who is admired for great or brave deeds or acts, a person who is greatly admired and the chief male [or
female] in a story, play, movie etc. (Merriam Webster Dictionary). In a literary situation, a hero is
defined as one with certain traits that follows the epic hero cycle. The epic hero cycle is a common
literary tool used throughout the ages in famous epics, such as The Iliad and The Odyssey. It follows a
simple pattern; a strong person, usually male and of noble birth, journeys on a long and treacherous
quest, encountering many mythical beings along the way, and usually hitting a snag before their
victory. John Milton s Paradise Lost follows the exact same pattern, except with a character no one
would expect: Satan. Satan exhibits many of the traits an epic hero while at the same time following
the traditional epic cycle. Although he is not seen as a hero by many, Satan is indisputably the hero of
Paradise Lost who follows the epic cycle down to the last detail: he is a powerful supernatural being
of noble birth that is tasked with a long and treacherous quest and tested within that quest before his
victory. The quest that Satan takes on is not the standard save the

From Martin Luther King to Nelson Mandela and many more in between, people have tried to
encourage the condemnation of prejudice. Harper Lee and Mildred D. Taylor have tried to do this
using the medium of the novel. Many people would feel that the books could be set in the 19th century
due to the significance of the prejudice and racism involved. They are actually set in the 1930s and,
whilst these childhood accounts were written in the second half of the 20th century, the prejudice still
existed at the time of writing and still occurs in inexcusable amounts today. Throughout both books,
there are many instances where characters endure or cause suffering due to their unreasonable
prejudice. The authors use some similar and some differing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is exactly what happened to Cassie, and is completely unjustifiable. The way the author enables
you to feel empathy for Cassie is what condemns prejudice.
More of this open prejudice appears in Mr. Barnett s shop, as he plainly ignores the black children in
favour of a white woman, who had a lot more shopping than the black children:
Mr Barnett walked to another counter and began filling the order, but before he finished a white
woman called, Mr. Barnett, you waiting on anybody just now? Mr. Barnett turned around, Just them,
he said, indicating to us with a wave of his hand. What can I do for you, Miz Emmaline? The woman

proceeded to fill it.
After Mr. Barnett had displayed this blatant show of prejudice, Cassie went on to ask him why he
wasn t helping them. Mr. Barnett became exceptionally angry because he thought that Cassie was
acting outrageously just by talking back to him, even though she spoke very politely. This is partly
because he has no respect for black people in general but also because he just cannot believe that a
young black girl would have the moral courage to act differently to the norm. Even though she acts in
a manner that we could easily accept by today s standards, Mr. Barnett thinks that she is conceited and
a menace. This condemns prejudice because the reader cannot find any genuine reason that would

Netflix And The Movie Rental Industry
Before becoming a force in the movie streaming and internet TV industry, Netflix was originally in
the movie rental industry. With competitors such as Blockbuster, Hollywood Entertainment and
Redbox, Netflix rose to be the leading Internet provider for Internet television and streaming thus
forcing Blockbuster and Hollywood Entertainment out of business. With the transformation of
consumer viewing in the American television industry, Netflix has over 75 million members who
stream more than 125 million hours of television shows and movies per day (Statista, 2016). Their
repertoire includes movies and original series that allow consumers to view at anytime and on any
screen in which Internet connectivity to the Internet is provided. In addition, Netflix continues to
deliver DVDs within the United States to the homes of consumers.
One critical issue was that customers did not like the increased subscription fees (Parnell, 2014). Mr.
Hastings proposed a plan to split the company into two separate entities in order to focus on DVD by
mail services and streaming services individually. Customers were not happy because this would
generate two different accounts to manage if customer had both services. Over 800,000 subscribers
canceled their subscriptions due to the proposed split.

competition was Blockbuster, Hollywood Entertainment and Redbox. Both Blockbuster and

Renaissance And The Italian Renaissance
The Italian Renaissance had two distinct periods during its lifetime. The first being the Early
Renaissance , which took place between the late 13th and the early 14th centuries. The second period
was known as the High Renaissance , which took place during the 15th and 16th centuries. These two
periods had very distinct foundations and styles behind the art and architecture of their respective
periods. The Early Renaissance revived many old themes which later became the foundations for the
High Renaissance. While the High Renaissance strayed from previous traditions and had its own form
of art and essentially perfected early themes and styles of art and included more scientific/mathematic
components.

Architects and designers such as Brunelleschi, Alberti, and Rossellino were absolutely obsessed with
designing and engineering building with perfect symmetry, proportions, and with ample amounts of

Roman architecture, which Alberti admired heavily.

Child Rearing Controversy
There are numerous philosophies on how to raise children. Several parents adopt the concepts their
own parents used, others seek advice from friends and there are those that read books about parenting.
Parents come in various and diverse forms, each approaching parenting in ways as distinct as their
personalities. Philosophies on child rearing can be grouped into two styles; authoritarian, authoritative
parenting. These two styles are similar sounding, but have nuanced differences. Authoritarian parents
hold their children to an exceedingly high level of status and success. In this style of parenting,
children are expected to follow the strict rules established by the parents. Failure in following rules
typically results in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using authoritative parenting style requires setting boundaries while still being able to listen and be
patient with the child. Here is an example of the authoritarian parenting style: A child is caught hitting
their playmate. The parent responds by grabbing the child and spanking them without any explanation
of why hitting is immoral. Thus punishing the child with the same misconduct the child has committed
results in mocking of the punishment behavior. Using authoritarian style requires the ability to be
dominantly harsh while giving punishment without an explanation. There are abundant differences in
these two styles, but the most significant discrepancy is in the end product: the children. An
authoritative parent will preserve the love and respect of his children and, when they reach adulthood,
they will continue this custom with their own children. An authoritative parent will know he has done
his job well in the raising of those children, because the relationships that were built will incessantly
last. The parents who choose a benign approach will obtain the rewards of having children that will be
the ones who have a good work ethic and who succeed in school because they wish to please their
parents. The parents who choose to rule by fear will see quite dissimilar results: their children are
probable to react out of that terror, which will only last as long as they are young;

Smith et al. (1999) stated that the wise decision on the amount of contingency used while bidding could have effects on whether wining of the contract. They interviewed 12 contractors on the contingency calculation method and found that among these contractors, nobody was aware of any kind of estimation method for the contingency amount. Hawthorne describes Aylmer s ambition to create the elixir of life, but evidently Aylmer knows that it would produce a discord in Nature which all the world, and chiefly the quaffer of the immortal nostrum, would find a cause to curse (1027). This society s traditions have caused the people to do away with their rational thoughts and the values of their lives as they have become so stuck in their own cultural beliefs. Drive Hunting in the Oceans Every year tens of thousands of marine mammals are killed all over the world, with over twenty thousand small cetaceans killed in Japanese waters alone (Butterworth et al., 2013). These small cetaceans include various species of small whales, many dolphin species and some porpoises. They are killed in various manors, ranging from accidental ship strikes to the more morally controversial yearly drive hunts. As you may know nearly all cetaceans use some sort of sound production in order to navigate waters, communicate with other individuals and groups of their respective species as well as capture prey (Brownell et al., 2008). An example of this is the variety sounds produced by bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) when exploring and foraging. These types of noises vary from echolocation, whistles and pops according to Nowacek (2005) which aid in location of prey, and communication when hunting in groups. Bottlenose dolphins are one of the most well known cetacean species (Bearzi et al., 2008). • 20. Red Hunting Hat Symbolism In Catcher In The Rye Symbolism, in literature, is an extremely effective technique. Symbolism helps create a deeper and more complex meaning to a story. In The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, the novel s protagonist, Holden Caulfield is portrayed as an adolescent boy trying to understand who he is supposed to be. He is at an extremely vulnerable time in his life since he has just been kicked out of Pencey Prep and doesn t want his parents to find out. He makes the ultimate decision to leave the school before he is officially kicked out and chooses to begin a new life of independence. The red hunting hat is an extremely important symbol because it gives him a sense of protection and the ability to feel invincible, when wearing it. Throughout the novel, the red hunting hat shows up in many main events that happen to him during his new life as an independent person. Ultimately, the red hunting hat helps him feel protected in a world of the unknown. Not only does the red hat symbolize protection, it also represents Holden s uniqueness. The red hat is not a common article of clothing and it helps Holden represent his own personal originality. In the beginning of the novel, Holden was informed that he had been kicked out of his school, Pencey Prep. At this time, Holden was at a very vulnerable point in his life. He did not know what he was supposed to do since he did not want his parents to find out. The red hunting hat was introduced into the novel when he got off the subway in New York. It was the red hunting hat, with one of those very, very long peaks. I saw it in the window of this sports store when we got out of the subway, just after I noticed i d lost all the goddamn foils. It only cost me a buck. The way I wore it, I swung the old peak way around to the back very corny I ll admit, but I liked it that way (Salinger 21). This quote shows that the minute he saw the hunting hat in the store window it gave him a sense of comfort and protection. When he bought the hat, he was in a vulnerable state when he had forgotten the equipment on the subway. The hat gave him the ability to feel protected from the disappointment he felt when he let his team down. The significance of the way he turned his hat around is also important. ... Teenage pregnancy has declined steadily over the past 40 years, however in the past decade the rate of pregnancy among adolescents is rising. Restrictive contraceptive legislation such as abstinence only education, mandatory waiting periods, parental notification laws, or Medicaid funding restrictions could all play a part in the increase of pregnancy in teenagers. One study found funding for abstinence only education programs were linked to increased birth rates among black and white adolescents (Yang Gaydos, 2010). Another study found restrictive contraceptive legislation resulted in higher unintended pregnancy rates among adolescents. The implication of this review is state and federal policies should focus on improving education regarding contraception use and forming policies which improve access to abortion. The new production will not have an appearance of Amos, he will divorce her due to her horrible behavior in the beginning of the play once she is sentenced to prison. • 27. The Paradox Of The Hero The Paradox of the Hero in Paradise Lost What exactly is a hero? A common pedestrian might say a hero is someone who goes out of their way to help people. A child may say that a hero is someone who performs valiant deeds. Merriam Webster Dictionary itself has 3 definitions of a hero: a person who is admired for great or brave deeds or acts, a person who is greatly admired and the chief male [or female] in a story, play, movie etc. (Merriam Webster Dictionary). In a literary situation, a hero is defined as one with certain traits that follows the epic hero cycle. The epic hero cycle is a common literary tool used throughout the ages in famous epics, such as The Iliad and The Odyssey. It follows a simple pattern; a strong person, usually male and of noble birth, journeys on a long and treacherous quest, encountering many mythical beings along the way, and usually hitting a snag before their victory. John Milton s Paradise Lost follows the exact same pattern, except with a character no one would expect: Satan. Satan exhibits many of the traits an epic hero while at the same time following the traditional epic cycle. Although he is not seen as a hero by many, Satan is indisputably the hero of Paradise Lost who follows the epic cycle down to the last detail: he is a powerful supernatural being of noble birth that is tasked with a long and treacherous quest and tested within that quest before his victory. The quest that Satan takes on is not the standard save the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Harper Lee and Mildred D. Taylor have tried to do this using the medium of the novel. Many people would feel that the books could be set in the 19th century due to the significance of the prejudice and racism involved. They are actually set in the 1930s and, whilst these childhood accounts were written in the second half of the 20th century, the prejudice still existed at the time of writing and still occurs in inexcusable amounts today. Throughout both books, there are many instances where characters endure or cause suffering due to their unreasonable prejudice. The authors use some similar and some differing ... The way the author enables you to feel empathy for Cassie is what condemns prejudice. More of this open prejudice appears in Mr. Barnett s shop, as he plainly ignores the black children in favour of a white woman, who had a lot more shopping than the black children: Mr Barnett walked to another counter and began filling the order, but before he finished a white woman called, Mr. Barnett, you waiting on anybody just now? Mr. Barnett turned around, Just them, he said, indicating to us with a wave of his hand. What can I do for you, Miz Emmaline? The woman handed him a list twice as long as T.J. s and the storekeeper, without a word of apology to us, proceeded to fill it. After Mr. Barnett had displayed this blatant show of prejudice, Cassie went on to ask him why he wasn t helping them. Mr. Barnett became exceptionally angry because he thought that Cassie was acting outrageously just by talking back to him, even though she spoke very politely. This is partly because he has no respect for black people in general but also because he just cannot believe that a young black girl would have the moral courage to act differently to the norm. Even though she acts in a manner that we could easily accept by today s standards, Mr. Barnett thinks that she is conceited and a menace. Mr. Hastings proposed a plan to split the company into two separate entities in order to focus on DVD by mail services and streaming services individually. Customers were not happy because this would generate two different accounts to manage if customer had both services. Over 800,000 subscribers canceled their subscriptions due to the proposed split. The Palazzo Rucellai (to the right) (designed by Alberti and architected by Rossellino) in Florence, Italy is another example of architectural uniformity during the Early Renaissance. • 36. Child Rearing Controversy There are numerous philosophies on how to raise children. Several parents adopt the concepts their own parents used, others seek advice from friends and there are those that read books about parenting. Parents come in various and diverse forms, each approaching parenting in ways as distinct as their personalities. Philosophies on child rearing can be grouped into two styles; authoritarian, authoritative parenting. These two styles are similar sounding, but have nuanced differences. Authoritarian parents hold their children to an exceedingly high level of status and success. In this style of parenting, children are expected to follow the strict rules established by the parents. Failure in following rules typically results in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using authoritative parenting style requires setting boundaries while still being able to listen and be patient with the child. Here is an example of the authoritarian parenting style: A child is caught hitting their playmate. The parent responds by grabbing the child and spanking them without any explanation of why hitting is immoral. Thus punishing the child with the same misconduct the child has committed results in mocking of the punishment behavior. Using authoritarian style requires the ability to be dominantly harsh while giving punishment without an explanation. There are abundant differences in these two styles, but the most significant discrepancy is in the end product: the children. An authoritative parent will preserve the love and respect of his children and, when they reach adulthood, they will continue this custom with their own children. An authoritative parent will know he has done his job well in the raising of those children, because the relationships that were built will incessantly last. The parents who choose a benign approach will obtain the rewards of having children that will be the ones who have a good work ethic and who succeed in school because they wish to please their parents. The parents who choose to rule by fear will see quite dissimilar results: their children are probable to react out of that terror, which will only last as long as they are young; ...
