Why Is Courage Being Scared To Death And Saddling Up Anyway
Courage is being scared to death... and saddling up anyway John Wayne. This quote is very true.
Courage is persevering through tough times and facing your fears. These fears don t have to be
great but they can be little things like getting your first shot or learning how to ride a bike.
Courage comes in all shapes and sizes. No, this essay is not about me saving someone s life. Or
maybe risking my own for someone else s. No, this essay is about something smaller. It s about me
being scared to death but saddling up anyway.
One hot sunny day in Orlando Florida, Disney World to be exact, 2011 a young girl about the age
of seven was having a debate with her mother on whether to ride a rollercoaster or not.
Should we go? It seems pretty scary and plus I m not sure I m tall enough to ride. I said
Oh you are plenty tall, and it will be fun. C mon what s the worst that could happen. replied my
mom.
Well..... I trailed off as I started counting on my fingers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sun had no pride in showing its rays. As far as the eye can see there were rides, carnival
games, places to eat (with food so greasy you could fill bucket loads), and people. Rides upon
rides upon rides. Roller coasters, ferris wheels, log rides, pony rides, anything that you could
imagine. But, they was one bigger, faster, and more frightening than all the rest. The blue one as
Brianna called it. That roller coaster had people from all over coming to ride it but Brianna was a
little hesitant. The argument soon came to an end when Brianna had ran out of possibilities of
what bad could happen and her mother urged her to take a risk and have a little courage. So soon
enough they made their way to long line. Seconds turned into minutes. Minutes turned into

Examples Of Nick s First Words In The Great Gatsby
What do you think makes a good first impression? A good handshake, eye contact, the way they
are dressed? Authors of books will often use first impressions to show personalities of a
character. F. Scott Fitzgerald is one of those authors. In his book, The Great Gatsby, he uses first
impressions of the characters presented to us to show their personality and how they may act or
be portrayed as in the book. Nick and Daisy both have impressions that are crucial to the story.
When Nick, the main character and narrator, speaks his first words in the book, his first words
show the audience that he is someone who doesn t let go of things as quickly as others and will
always remember what you say. Nicks first words are on the first page of the

Genus Homo
The genus Homo should comprise of species who share a most recent common ancestor and
should be more closely related to one another than to species of another genus. Many
characteristics can be used to define the genus Homo, such as morphology, cognitive ability and
genetics, however some are more suitable than others. When using morphology to determine the
species included in the genus Homo, characteristics such as the bony labyrinth and limb
proportions can be considered, which can be a strong indicator of the species posture and main
mode of locomotion. The bony labyrinth may be an appropriate structure to study because data is
obtained from the crania which is more definitively assigned to species than isolated limb bones.
However, evidence... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the cranial capacity is fairly easy to measure with an absolute brain size of 600cc
being used as a defining feature of the genus Homo. However, some early Homo species had
smaller brains than Australopiths (Morton, 2016), suggesting it may not be appropriate to
consider cranial capacity alone, particularly as cranial fossil remains can be problematic when
often found damaged. Endocranial casts can also be used to infer whether a species had
developed spoken language, a feature used to distinguish Homo species. However, definitive
evidence for the development of spoken language is poor and can t be reliably interpreted from
the appearance of endocranial casts (Wood Collard, 1999). Tool use may also be connected with
an increased cognitive ability and can be used to determine species within the genus Homo.
However, stone tool deposits dating 2.6 2.3 million years old have been found in East Africa
(Wood Collard, 1999), linking them to later species of Australopiths, suggesting this may be an
unreliable characteristic to use. Examining dental evidence can be an appropriate method in
defining the genus Homo because teeth are commonly preserved and an individuals diet can be
inferred. It is suggested that members of the genus Homo should have smaller posterior teeth
compared to Australopithecus (AntГіn Snodgrass, 2012). In addition to this, research suggests that
early Homo had a more generalised diet than Australopithecus due to evidence of more complex
microwear (AntГіn Snodgrass, 2012). However, dental evidence may not be the most appropriate,
since microscopic damage to tooth enamel may be confused with damage from chewing

Conflict Between Interpersonal, Intra Groups And Intra...
In the contention of viewing conflict as whether undesirable phenomenon or not, it has been widely
accepted that the presence of conflict in the workplace is inevitable. According to Rahim (2002, p.
207), conflict could be define as an interactive process manifested in incompatibility, disagreement,
or dissonance within or between social entities. As this conflictoccurs in the workplace, the
existence of conflict is not only limited between people in an organisation, but it is also occurred
between organisations, where it involves employees, employers, managers, units or departments.
While several research focused to identify the source and analyse the amount of conflict at
interpersonal, intra group and intra group levels, the others also examine the various styles of
managing conflict in the workplace. However, workplace conflict could be caused by different
influencing factors, which have been addressed into several main themes by conflict management
scholars. In carrying out the studies, many of them differentiated workplace conflict into two types.
First, affective conflict or relationship conflict or emotional conflict which usually engage
incompatible feelings and emotions; and second, task conflict or substantive conflict or cognitive
conflict which usually emerge disagreements on job content issues (Riaz Junaid 2011). Examining
influencing factors that causes these types of conflict and determining the style to effectively
manage the conflict are considerably

The Symbols Of Righteousness In Dante s Journey
The representations of the different symbols for righteousness are shown through the shine of first
rays of sunrise, which shows that God wants Dante to change, Sin is also symbolized through the
three beasts, which could represent how he has sinned and he can t escape his past. For better
insight, analyze the sins that Dante has committed before stepping onto the path of righteousness to
understand Dante s journey.
The first rays of sunrise show that God had wanted him to change, so he sent a wake up call to
Dante. With the sunrise shining onto the little hill, the Mount of Joy, Dante found a new
inspiration. He wanted to change his ways and get back onto the True Way that God had intended
for him to be on. Dante realized that no matter what he tried, he couldn t get back on the path of
righteousness by himself. His pathway to righteousness has been blocked by his sins that he has
committed. He tries to get around his sins to righteousness, but he can t do it alone. God sends Virgil
, his Human Reason which helped him understand what he needed to do and how to do it, to help
him get into the True Way that God wanted him to lead his life by. For the final ascent to
righteousness, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

standing in the way of righteousness. Dante s path to The Mount of Joy is blocked by the Three
Beasts of Worldliness: The Leopard of Malice and Fraud, The Lion of Violence and Ambition,
and The She Wolf of Incontinence. His sins of malice, fraud, violence, ambition, and lack of self
restraint had become physical. These beasts want him to stay a sinner so they try to push him
back into the Dark Wood of Error. As he tries to fight, he is steadily being pushed into the Dark
Woods. Dante soon realizes that his fighting is futile because he is drowning in his sins. No matter

Human Service Work Ethics Case Study
The effect of sexual abuse on children is disturbing and enduring. Victims of abuse are abused by
those they trust and depend on, and because of this they do not realize that they are victims and that
the abuse is wrong or not their fault. Faulkner (1996), states that sexually abused children have
reported that they feel something is wrong with them, that the abuse is their fault and they should
blame themselves for the abuse . When children or anyone decides to report they have been
sexually abused, particularly by a family member, the entire household is affected. This in return
gives family members the feeling that they have to choose sides, along with deciding who should
take the blame. Allegations of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Importance Of Cremation
Cremation
Studies have provided an understanding and argue that the choice to cremate or bury the dead may
have been one of the biggest decisions for the Anglo Saxons (Williams, H. 2002). But also, that we
should take into consideration that cremation was a show and helped define social distinctions
within the living society, as the inclusion in the rite would define your social distinction (Williams,
H. 2002).
Cremation also enhanced relationships between the living and the dead, as a rite of passage
served to dissolve and reconstitute not only the identities of the dead but also those of the
mourners. Cremation rites are social events that aim to re form the dead in the eyes of society and
the world (Williams, H. 2002).
Many Anglo Saxon cremation burials have been compared to pagan burials, and are also believed
to be also the same thing as the Anglo Saxon gods Woden, Thunor and Tiw are seen in runes on
the cremation urns and in grave goods Many Anglo Saxon cremation burials (Williams, H. 2002).
Whetstones have also been found in cremation rites as well as holed urns, runic pot decorations
and bones fragments from sacrificed animals, these are believed to also link the Anglo Saxon s
with pagan burials as these are common pagan elements found in similar burials (Williams, H.
2002).
Cremation is believed to have held meaning spiritually to the Anglo Saxons, that burning the dead
may have released its spirit, that by doing so this may have also stopped the dead from hurting

The Beginnings of Psychoanalysis
Sigmund Freud was the discoverer and inventor of psychoanalysis and coined the term in 1896 after
publishing studies on Hysteria with Joseph Breuer in 1895. Psychoanalysis still remains
unsurpassed in its approach to understanding human motivation, character development, and
psychopathology. Freud s insights and analyses of psychic determinism, early childhood sexual
development, and unconscious processes have left an indelible mark on psychology (Korchin,
1983).

More specifically, Freud traces the roots of all adult behaviors back to childhood impulses and
showed how conflicts related to the development of sexuality in childhood subsequently results in
psychopathology or neuroses. (Good Beitman)
Erik H Erickson is another Freudian in the field that has pioneered new territory in Psychoanalysis.
Erik Erikson was born June 15, 1902 in Frankfurt, Germany. His father, a Danish man, abandoned
the family before he was born. His young, Jewish mother later married a physician, Dr. Theodor
Homberger.
His interest in identity developed early based upon his own experiences in school. At his temple
school, the other children teased him for being Nordic because he was tall, blonde and blue eyed.
At grammar school, he was rejected because of his Jewish background.
After spending some time traveling throughout Europe, Erik Erikson studied psychoanalysis from
Anna Freud and earned a certificate from the Vienna Psychoanalytic Society. Erikson moved to the
United States in 1933 and was offered a teaching position at Harvard Medical School. In addition to
this, he also had a private practice in child psychoanalysis. Later, he held teaching positions at

Literature Review On Atherosclerosis
Literature Review Draft
Atherosclerosis is characterised by gradual decrease in the luminal diameter of large arteries, it has
major health implications and contributes to around 50% of all deaths within westernized countries
(7). Patients can undergo coronary artery stenting to prolong the effects of this. Treatments for this
have undergone major developments over the past 40 years, including balloon angioplasty in 1977,
development of bare metal stents (BMS) in the 1980 s, introduction of drug eluting stents (DES) in
2000 (43) and current research into incorporating NO donors into stents. The first stent implantation
performed on a human was conducted in 1986 (13), since then they have become one of the most
common ways of intervention due to atherosclerosis. In the US there are 500,000 people who
undergo stenting annually (42). The success of stenting is inhibited by the reoccurrence of
restenosis. Multiple things can affect the rate of in stent restenosis, elevated LDL levels, increased
levels of plasminogen activator inhibitor I, type 2 diabetes and enhanced platelet aggergability (10).
Therefore the severity of restenosis will differ between patients.
Nobuyoshi et al, (1) and Serruys et al (2) found that restenosis is not an instantaneous development
after stent implantation, it develops between the 1st and 3rd month after implantation, although the
greatest change in luminal diameter occurred between the 2nd and 3rd month. These studies
suggest that restenosis is

The Treatment of Wastewater with Microalgae Essay
2.1Wastewater Treatment with Microalgae
Microalgae have a great potential to solve energy and environmental challenges around the world.
Wastewater treatment with microalgae is a more environmental sound approach to reduce nitrogen
and phosphorus and to remove heavy metals from wastewater. Microalgae can absorb significant
amount of nutrients because they need large amounts of nitrogen and phosphorus for proteins (45
60% microalgae dry weight) and metals as micronutrients for their growth. William Oswald first
developed the idea of treating wastewater using microalgae and performed photosynthesis in
sewage treatment [29]. Figure 2.1 briefly depicts the process involved in high rate algal pond in
which algae plays a dual role by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2.2.1Nitrogen
Organic nitrogen is the key element in biological substances like enzymes, peptides, proteins,
chlorophylls and energy transfer molecules such as ADP (Adenosine diphosphate) and ATP
(Adenosine 5 triphosphate) [33]. Organic nitrogen is derived from inorganic sources including
nitrite (NO2 ), nitrate (NO3 ), nitric acid (HNO3), ammonia (NH3), ammonium (NH4+), and
nitrogen gas (N2). Microalgae has an ability to convert inorganic nitrogen be only in the forms of
nitrite, nitrate and ammonium to organic nitrogen through a process called assimilation. Only
eukaryotic algae can perform assimilation [32]. Figure 2.2 describes the assimilation process of
inorganic nitrogen. As shown in the figure 2.2, translocation of inorganic nitrogen takes place
across the plasma membrane where reduction of nitrate takes place followed by the incorporation of
ammonium into amino acids and glutamine. Initially nitrate is reduced to nitrite by a NADH
dependent nitrate reductase and the nitrite reduced to ammonium by NADPH linked nitrite
reductase present within the algae. The resulting ammonium is assimilated to form amino acids by
glutamine and glutamate synthase within the intracellular fluid using adenosine triphosphate
(ATP), glutamate (Glu) and glutamine synthase. Thus, all inorganic forms of nitrogen are finally
reduced to organic form (amino acids) [32]. Figure 2.2 Conversion of inorganic

The Death Of Gang Research
In the early twentieth century, the term gang was associated with groups in socially disorganized
and deteriorated inner city neighborhoods: It was applied to juveniles who engaged in a variety of
delinquencies, ranging from truancy, street brawls, and beer running to race riots, robberies, and
other serious crimes (Regoli, Hewitt, DeLisi, 2011). There were several gangs within the United
States, which included street gangs, prison gangs, motorcycle gangs, and organized crimegangs that
still exist today. The word gangis derived from the word gonge, which is a term that means a
journey. Frederic Thrasher who was called the Father of Gang Research , who defined the word
gang as kids in the streets back in the 1920s. Many of the American gangs began in urban areas
and they still exist. It is said that many of the known street gangs originated in some of the major
cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Miami and New York, and they later moved to
other American cities such as Atlanta, Cleveland, St. Louis, Dallas, Memphis, Nashville, New
Orleans, Milwaukee, Orlando, Houston, and Detroit. According to the 2011 National Gang Threat
Assessment, published by the National Gang Intelligence Center, some 33,000 gangs were
estimated to be operating in the United States in 2011, comprising an estimated 1.4 million
members (Driscoll, 2013). Some of the first predecessors of street gangs were Secret Societies,

Video Games Do Not Encourage Violence Essay
Video games and violence
Over the years, the popularity of computer and video games has grown. Specifically violent video
games make up more than 50 % of the top selling games. These games include violent themes that
involve guns, crime, blood, and gore. There is an ongoing belief that these types of games are to
blame for the many acts of violence in society and have encouraged America s youth to act out in
aggression. Several organizations, such as the PTC (Parents Television Council) have moved to
discourage the development of violent games while also pushing for stronger regulations when
purchasing such games. There is also debate among parents and concerns on how games can
negatively influence their children. So is there a direct link between video games and violence?
The truth is video games do not encourage violence in society based on several factors which
include scientific studies, statistics on crime, and prevention measures adopted by game publishers.
Scientific Studies There have been several scientific studies to determine if video games do in fact
contribute to violence. One study was conducted by experimental psychologist in 2015 at the
Oxford Internet Institute at Oxford University. Lead by Dr. Andy Przybykaski, the study included
research to observe the behaviors of children during social gaming. Dr. Przybykaski also wanted to
review the affects gaming had on education performance in school. One part of the study found that

Introductory Psychology Writing Assignment
Praise
Praising a child is what adults do en route for reinforcing a behavior the adult wants that child to
continue doing. Operant conditioning is when one behaves a certain way and then is reinforced or
punished for their actions. Praise is a form of positive reinforcement, when introducing an incentive
that will likely increase or maintain a desired result. People are split as to whether or not praise is
helpful to a child s development. Some believe Praise inhibits motive and increases the child s
uncertainty in their own abilities. On the other hand, there are people who believe praise is a useful
tool for adults to teach children how to behave in modern society.
Alfie Kohn wrote an article titled Five Reasons to Stop Saying Good Job. In this article he states
his beliefs about praise and how it is not a beneficial tool. Kohn feels that praise is in fact hurting
today s children. He explains his five reasons on why praise should not be used(Kohn, 2001).
Kohn s first reason is that praise is used to manipulate the children. Kohn says that praise is sugar
coated control (Kohn, 110, 2001) adults use to pressure their child into good behavior. Kohn s
second reason is that praising children creates praise junkies (Kohn, 111, 2001). He believes that
the child will no longer perform an activity for the proper reasons, instead of doing a difficult task
to be able to say that they could their motives altered to only desire the

Persuasive Essay On Renewable Energy
As the impacts of climate change continue to worsen, the time to make large scale alterations in
our way of life is now, but hesitancy is creating roadblocks for these necessary adjustments
especially within the energy industry. Al Gore, former Vice President, Congressman, and
presidential candidate, attempts to promote change in this sector by proposing a goal for 100
percent renewable energyin ten years. Gore delivers his speech to an audience advocates and
skeptics at D.A.R. Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. on July 17, 2008, and aims not only to
persuade skeptics of the problems we are facing, but also to show skeptics and advocates alike
how we can completely rethink our electric grid in ten years. Al Gore creates a convincing
argument in 2008 for the case of switching the United States power grid to one run by renewable
energy within ten years by implementing strategic logical appeals which include creating a
sequential progression of facts and challenges, while lacing daunting scientific evidence of the time
throughout his argument.
Gore gives his speech in the nation s capital amongst supporters and critics alike at a time when
great change was occurring, which helps his audience to understand the logic in acting as soon as
possible. Gore makes a point to reference that the nation was at the eve of a presidential election,
in order to portray to the audience that change was coming, and that a new leader may have more

Media s Goals For The Future
Throughout history, humans have possessed an intrinsic desire to communicate with one another.
Traditionally, communication occurred in the form of face to face contact, body language, or via
written messages sent from one to another. However, the invention of one particular form of
communication, mass communication, has changed the way some messages are sent and received.
Mass communication is defined as, the industrialized production and multiple distribution of
messages through technological devices, and has allowed for the rise of mass mediaoutlets, or
companies that send out messages via mass media(1). One such outlet is 21st CenturyFox, a global
media organization involved in the production and distribution of media content across a variety of
platforms (2). Throughout this paper, several key aspects of Fox will be analyzed in depth,
including the company s goals for the future, plan to overcome obstacles to achieve these goals, and
impacts that achieving these goals will have on consumers.
21st Century Fox has a clear and concise vision for the future of their company. Their main goal,
is to reach as wide and as diverse of an audience as possible, in order to maximize their
viewership, and thus, profits for shareholders (3). Over the past year, the company has greatly

Differences Between Religion And Catholicism
1.0Framing:
1.1 Hypothesis
It is hypothesised that although a number of differences, the similarities between Indigenous
Spirituality and Catholicism marriage rituals are due, primarily to the religions views regarding
what happens to the soul after the uniting of two different beings.
1.2 Purpose of the Rituals
The agreement between man and woman, also know as marriage, is a universal act seen throughout
all of humanity. Marriage allows for legal contract between spouses to be sealed and establish the
rights of each other. This ceremony dates back into Biblical times, and is shown right throughout
the history of both, Catholicism and Indigenous Spirituality.
From within Judaism, Catholicism originated. This was believed to have happened after the death
and resurrection of Jesus. As several of the beliefs and traditions were carried on from Judaism, it
could be assumed that Catholic and Jewish wedding ceremonies are very similar.
This ethnographic study will outline and examine the wedding ceremonies from within Catholicism
and Judaism, showing the similarities and differences between the two religions, having the main
focal point the origins and traditions of the two religions.

The Concept Of Heritage In Everyday Use By Alice Walker
Heritage: it is something that everyone possesses, whether they like it or not. It is not something
that people can choose, and it is not something people can change. Every family has their own
unique heritage, each celebrating it in a slightly different way. In brief, heritage is the celebration
of one s familyand culture through family holidays, feasts, festivals, and traditions. Heritage is
something that people innately celebrate, it does not require much effort to celebrate it. However,
some people make it something not innate by using their heritage as an ostentatious display. The
concept of celebrating heritage innately or ostentatiously is explored through the characters
Maggie, Mama, and Dee in the short storyEveryday Use by Alice Walker.

Coco Chanel s Impact On Women
Imagine walking down the streets of Paris in 1921 and walking by a young beautiful woman
dressed in a simple black dress. While you walk by her you get a whiff of a smell, a smell like no

Common Core And Secondary Education Essay
INTRODUCTION Our nation is LAGGING in academics compared to other nations, such as South
Korea, Finland, and Japan. According to Emmeline Zhao (2012), the students of the United States
scored lower on academic tests compared to other countries. However, the United States is not the
worst performing nation. Its academic growth is lacking (Zhao, 2012).
One way to compete effectively with other nations is Common Core for secondary education.
Common Core (2016), per its website, is designed to prepare students for the future by providing
standards in which a student should meet by the end of each school year. The main goals of the
Common Core are to build upon state standards and to draw from elements of top performing
educational systems to prepare students for the globalized society.
Some support the Common Core because it promotes a higher level of comprehension skills and
independent learning. Lucy Calkins (2012) mentioned that the Common Core should help students
read beyond the surface level, and placed the emphasis on a student s ability to master the academic
standards (p. 1). It helps prepare students for the real world by understanding the nuances of the text
and emphasizing on the students task on learning the standards and applying them in the real world.
Others oppose the Common Core because it does not sufficiently improve comprehension skills and
college readiness. Sandra Strotsky (2010) emphasized that the Common Core standards did not
prepare students

The so called historical based films are evidentially lacking historical accuracy. In fact, it is one of

Essay on Violence and the Media
Violence and the Media
Television programming today can be a powerful influence in developing value systems and
shaping behavior (Bee, 1998: 261 262). Unfortunately, much of today s television programming is
violent. For instance, the level of violence during Saturday morning cartoons is higher than the
level of violence during prime time. There are about six to eight violent acts per hour during prime
time, versus twenty to thirty violent acts per hour on Saturday morning cartoons ( Killing Screens,
1994). Also, well before children finish their grade school, they will witness up to 8,000 murders
and 100,000 violent acts on television (Levine, 1995: 143).
Moreover, children spend more time learning about life through media than in ... Show more content

For example, because young children do not understand the line between fantasy and reality,
one may find children crawling down storm drains looking for them [Teenage Mutant Ninja
Turtles] (Minow LaMay, 1995: 33). This example clearly represents that children do not
understand that their favorite characters are only made up characters and that they do not exist
in reality. However, many children may act upon their favorite movie or film character in such
way, that they will try to imitate them. Young children instinctively imitate actions, or rather
model human behavior by observation without always possessing the intellect or maturity to
determine if such actions are appropriate. For example, in Bandura s modeling studies children
expressed more aggressive behavior toward the blow up doll called Bobo, when they observed
an adult model verbally and physically attack the doll in real life, on film, or in a cartoon
(Westen, 1996: 206). Therefore, due to the televisions programs role model capacity to promote
real world violence, there is a deep concern that watching violent programs on television will
cause children to become more aggressive. As a result of viewing violent programs on television,
children may become more aggressive toward other children, use violence and aggressiveness in
their play, and use violence to solve their

In Nature By Ralph Waldo
The essays Nature and self reliance almost support each other in the way they depict self respect
as not just an aspect of life, but as life Itself and anything less is more dead than any end one
could meet under most any circumstances. They simply approach the subject with different idea
s. This kind of thing of course is to be expected due to the fact the author published both books.
Oddly enough the books, both reference nature and self reliance only each one is more dedicated
to one subject over the other. Really, they re the same book simply written in different stages of his

A Comparison Of Lust And Love In Chaucer s Canterbury Tales
In both Wife of Bath s Tale written by Chaucer and Marie de France s lay Lanval are about men
that are driven by lust and love. In Chaucer s Wife of Bath s Tale he speaks of a young knight
that is motivated by lust. As the knight saw a maiden walking by he decides to rape her although
she tries to resist his force. However in Marie de Frances lay Lanval , she talks about a knight that
possessed great qualities such as beauty and courage, this caused him to be envied by many. If it
had not been for his misfortune he would not live a sad and lonely life. No one offered to assist
this worthy knight because he was born far away and spent all of his inheritance.
The similarities that connects these works in both Lanval and Wife of Bath s Tale are that both
men are knights to King Arthur. In Lanval the noble knight decides to falls for a fairly beautiful...

and sent on quest to find out what woman want, after discovering his answer from an old hag he is
set free of his charges. He then has to marry the hag because he is set free and at the end she
turns into a beautiful young lady. This is ironic because of the crime he commits the tale ends
with him having a happy ever after. This is a major deference seen in the consequences given to
both men for their crimes committed. In a real life scenario the knight consequences should have

camera goes from a medium shot to a medium close up of the back of his head. He then begins to
talk about how he sees Janet s real face or her actual self. This scene was after Janet broke down
to the doctor, questioning who says what is attractive and normal, and saying a powerful quote
This state is not God. This clearly affected the doctor and got him thinking and realizing that she

The Reign Of The Byzantine Empire
1) The Byzantine emperors were more powerful than previous Roman emperors because the
Byzantine emperors inherited imperial law, which were only provincial forms of Roman law that
survived in the west. Also, the emperors were able to transition smoothly into the role of all

2) The Byzantine Empire post 600 CE can be categorized as a beleaguered empire because they
only had a single ruler who endowed with supreme legal and religious authority was able to prevent
the breakup of the Eastern Empire. Also, the loss and decreased of the populous provinces lessened
the power of the empire. The Byzantine emperors then were encountered with new enemies from

The Humoral Theory Of William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
The humoral theory is one of the oldest theories of Medicine that proposed that our bodies are
made up of four different humours: black bile, blood, phlegm, and yellow bile. It was believed that
while in good health the humours were in a harmonious balance throughout the body but illness is
said to have disrupted that balance causing one or more humour to become disordered. It is also
said that the mind is effected by the equilibrium of the four temperamentsknown as melancholic,
sanguine, choleric, and phlegmatic and that they dispersed to make up certain characteristics or
personality traits. Critics have long described Shakespeare as using these humours and
temperaments as a way for the audience to understand the character, plot and other aspects of his
plays. In such plays as Romeo and Juliet where critics have described Romeo as being a melancholy
figure it is exceptionally brought about by using the four humours involved in the humoral theory
that is said to have first originated by Hippocrates and later elaborated on by Galen. The four
humours include Black Bile which is related to the melancholic temperament and said to be
associated with the element earth, the season of winter, the planet Saturn, the spleen, and cold and
dry qualities. The humour Blood is related to the sanguine temperament and associated with the
element air, the season spring, the planet Jupiter, the heart, and hot and moist qualities. While
Phlegm is associated with the temperament phlegmatic

Solar Energy Is The Conversion Of Power From The Sun
Research Paper Solar Energy
Blakely J. Phillips
BGEN 440, Montana State University Billings
Introduction
Solar energy is the conversion of power from the sun to usable electricity (Alternative Energy,
2014). The most common source of solar energy utilizes photovoltaic cells to convert sunlight into
electricity (Alternative Energy, 2014). Photovoltaics use a semi conductor to absorb the radiation
from the sun, creating and emitting electrons, which are then harnessed and used as electricity
(Alternative Energy, 2014).
Pros of Solar Energy There are many advantages of using solar energy. It is renewable, abundant,
sustainable, environmentally friendly, and more. Solar energy is a renewable energysource, which
means that unlike non renewable energy sources such as fossil fuels, coal, and nuclear energy,
we cannot run out of solar energy (Maehlum, 2014). As long as the sun is alive, which according
to NASA is another 6.5 billion years, we will have access to solar energy (Maehlum, 2014). The
true potential of solar energy is astounding and overly abundant. The surface of Earth receives
120,000 terawatts of solar radiation, better known as sunlight, which is 20,000 times more energy
than what is needed to supply power to the entire world (Maehlum, 2014).
Solar energy is not only abundant and renewable it is also sustainable and environmentally friendly.
As a sustainable energy source, solar energy is able to meet the needs of the present without
compromising

Persuasive Essay On Technology Vs Technology
When we, as a society, are faced with a difficult question or even asked a question, our solution is
to go straight to technology. We have followed what s in trend for the longest time. That is the
world of the internet, T.V, and the convenience of our phones. A difficult thing for us to
understand was that nearly 30 years ago we did not have any of these things. How has this put an
effect on our minds? Do you think we have turned our minds into a computer, or do we just rely on
the answers to come right into our brains and have stopped thinking by ourselves?
In the book Amusing Ourselves to Death, Neil Postman talks a little bit about the book 1984, by
George Orwell and says how our rights to thinking might be taken away and how another author
named Aldous Huxley says that we might just hand them away for no reason. Both Orwell and
Huxley are English authors. Us as a society is allowing information to be fed to us by T.V., and
the internet blends opinions and facts together that we don t understand. Yet we process this
information, we build our thoughts and opinions around what the other misinformed people
insists is fact. But as a society we are aware of these lies and these facts that are not fully to its
truth. Because of this, when the truth does come out, we don t recognize the truth. Nicholas Carr

Aristophanes Speech On Love And Happiness
The philosopher I have chosen for this assignment is Plato, in Symposium. Based on the readings
of The Speech of Aristophanes, the theorist Aristophanes states that the key to love and happiness
is the search to finding ones other half , in which the couple becomes together or whole . In the
quest to becoming one , the individuals find themselves in a lifelong togetherness, what some
claim to be considered finding your soul mate When becoming whole the newly formed
partnership embrace in sexual relations and share experiences with one another. In order to fully
understand Aristophanes concept of erotic love, it is imperative to summarize and highlight details
of the story in The Speech of Aristophanes. The form of Aristophanes speech, comes in as a myth
of a story long ago where there were three genders: male, female and androgynous, all of which
were twice what they humans are now. For example, two sets of hands and two sets of legs. Though
the gods hated these beings, they knew they could not kill them, as forfeiting humans as sacrifices.
So, in replace Zeus decided to cut the humans into two, but keeping them whole on either side,
including their genitals. Because the humans, now half, had been whole for so long, they
constantly had urges to find their other half to make them whole again, which begins Aristophanes
theory of longing for one another. When found by another half, the couple would embrace in sexual
activity and not want anything else,

Quality Items For An Organization s Reputation
It is important to maintain Quality of their product because Quality items keep up consumer loyalty
and consistency and reduce the danger and expense of providing defective products. Firms have
things they must consider such as: Customer Expectations, their reputation, meeting company
standards, the most important one which is cost.
Customer Expectations Your shoppers anticipate that you will convey quality items. On the off
chance that you don t, they will rapidly search for options. Quality is basic to fulfilling your clients
and holding their dedication so they keep on buying from you later on. Quality items make a vital
commitment to long haul income and benefit. They additionally empower you to charge and keep

Company Reputation (how can I use that sentence) Quality has a big impact on an organization s
reputation. The internet today can make or break a firm. It does that because it gives shoppers the
ability to share information about a product or service they have received. On the internet, there are
now survey websites. Then there are people who may purchase a product and make a video of
them reviewing the Quality of it and that can damage a company s reputation. In the business
world social media play a major role because the potential buyer can share their dislikes and likes
about a product and they use networking sites such as Facebook, twitter, and Instagram. A solid

In his early life Ramirez was influenced into becoming a killer by his cousin Mike, his cousin
Mike was a Vietnam war veteran who boasted of killing and torturing all of his Vietnamese
enemies. Mike showed Ramirez polaroid pictures of his victims. Another big influence may have
been that Ramirez was present the day his cousin Mike shot and killed his wife, all of her blood

  • 2. Why Is Courage Being Scared To Death And Saddling Up Anyway Courage is being scared to death... and saddling up anyway John Wayne. This quote is very true. Courage is persevering through tough times and facing your fears. These fears don t have to be great but they can be little things like getting your first shot or learning how to ride a bike. Courage comes in all shapes and sizes. No, this essay is not about me saving someone s life. Or maybe risking my own for someone else s. No, this essay is about something smaller. It s about me being scared to death but saddling up anyway. One hot sunny day in Orlando Florida, Disney World to be exact, 2011 a young girl about the age of seven was having a debate with her mother on whether to ride a rollercoaster or not. Should we go? It seems pretty scary and plus I m not sure I m tall enough to ride. I said Oh you are plenty tall, and it will be fun. C mon what s the worst that could happen. replied my mom. Well..... I trailed off as I started counting on my fingers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sun had no pride in showing its rays. As far as the eye can see there were rides, carnival games, places to eat (with food so greasy you could fill bucket loads), and people. Rides upon rides upon rides. Roller coasters, ferris wheels, log rides, pony rides, anything that you could imagine. But, they was one bigger, faster, and more frightening than all the rest. The blue one as Brianna called it. That roller coaster had people from all over coming to ride it but Brianna was a little hesitant. The argument soon came to an end when Brianna had ran out of possibilities of what bad could happen and her mother urged her to take a risk and have a little courage. So soon enough they made their way to long line. Seconds turned into minutes. Minutes turned into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Examples Of Nick s First Words In The Great Gatsby What do you think makes a good first impression? A good handshake, eye contact, the way they are dressed? Authors of books will often use first impressions to show personalities of a character. F. Scott Fitzgerald is one of those authors. In his book, The Great Gatsby, he uses first impressions of the characters presented to us to show their personality and how they may act or be portrayed as in the book. Nick and Daisy both have impressions that are crucial to the story. When Nick, the main character and narrator, speaks his first words in the book, his first words show the audience that he is someone who doesn t let go of things as quickly as others and will always remember what you say. • 4. Genus Homo The genus Homo should comprise of species who share a most recent common ancestor and should be more closely related to one another than to species of another genus. Many characteristics can be used to define the genus Homo, such as morphology, cognitive ability and genetics, however some are more suitable than others. When using morphology to determine the species included in the genus Homo, characteristics such as the bony labyrinth and limb proportions can be considered, which can be a strong indicator of the species posture and main mode of locomotion. The bony labyrinth may be an appropriate structure to study because data is obtained from the crania which is more definitively assigned to species than isolated limb bones. However, evidence... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because the cranial capacity is fairly easy to measure with an absolute brain size of 600cc being used as a defining feature of the genus Homo. However, some early Homo species had smaller brains than Australopiths (Morton, 2016), suggesting it may not be appropriate to consider cranial capacity alone, particularly as cranial fossil remains can be problematic when often found damaged. Endocranial casts can also be used to infer whether a species had developed spoken language, a feature used to distinguish Homo species. However, definitive evidence for the development of spoken language is poor and can t be reliably interpreted from the appearance of endocranial casts (Wood Collard, 1999). Tool use may also be connected with an increased cognitive ability and can be used to determine species within the genus Homo. However, stone tool deposits dating 2.6 2.3 million years old have been found in East Africa (Wood Collard, 1999), linking them to later species of Australopiths, suggesting this may be an unreliable characteristic to use. Examining dental evidence can be an appropriate method in defining the genus Homo because teeth are commonly preserved and an individuals diet can be inferred. It is suggested that members of the genus Homo should have smaller posterior teeth compared to Australopithecus (AntГіn Snodgrass, 2012). In addition to this, research suggests that early Homo had a more generalised diet than Australopithecus due to evidence of more complex microwear (AntГіn Snodgrass, 2012). However, dental evidence may not be the most appropriate, since microscopic damage to tooth enamel may be confused with damage from chewing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Conflict Between Interpersonal, Intra Groups And Intra... In the contention of viewing conflict as whether undesirable phenomenon or not, it has been widely accepted that the presence of conflict in the workplace is inevitable. According to Rahim (2002, p. 207), conflict could be define as an interactive process manifested in incompatibility, disagreement, or dissonance within or between social entities. While several research focused to identify the source and analyse the amount of conflict at interpersonal, intra group and intra group levels, the others also examine the various styles of managing conflict in the workplace. However, workplace conflict could be caused by different influencing factors, which have been addressed into several main themes by conflict management scholars. In carrying out the studies, many of them differentiated workplace conflict into two types. First, affective conflict or relationship conflict or emotional conflict which usually engage incompatible feelings and emotions; and second, task conflict or substantive conflict or cognitive conflict which usually emerge disagreements on job content issues (Riaz Junaid 2011). The Symbols Of Righteousness In Dante s Journey The representations of the different symbols for righteousness are shown through the shine of first rays of sunrise, which shows that God wants Dante to change, Sin is also symbolized through the three beasts, which could represent how he has sinned and he can t escape his past. For better insight, analyze the sins that Dante has committed before stepping onto the path of righteousness to understand Dante s journey. • 8. The Importance Of Cremation Cremation Studies have provided an understanding and argue that the choice to cremate or bury the dead may have been one of the biggest decisions for the Anglo Saxons (Williams, H. 2002). But also, that we should take into consideration that cremation was a show and helped define social distinctions within the living society, as the inclusion in the rite would define your social distinction (Williams, H. 2002). Cremation also enhanced relationships between the living and the dead, as a rite of passage served to dissolve and reconstitute not only the identities of the dead but also those of the mourners. Cremation rites are social events that aim to re form the dead in the eyes of society and the world (Williams, H. 2002). Many Anglo Saxon cremation burials have been compared to pagan burials, and are also believed to be also the same thing as the Anglo Saxon gods Woden, Thunor and Tiw are seen in runes on the cremation urns and in grave goods Many Anglo Saxon cremation burials (Williams, H. 2002). Whetstones have also been found in cremation rites as well as holed urns, runic pot decorations and bones fragments from sacrificed animals, these are believed to also link the Anglo Saxon s with pagan burials as these are common pagan elements found in similar burials (Williams, H. 2002). • 10. Literature Review On Atherosclerosis Literature Review Draft Atherosclerosis is characterised by gradual decrease in the luminal diameter of large arteries, it has major health implications and contributes to around 50% of all deaths within westernized countries (7). Patients can undergo coronary artery stenting to prolong the effects of this. Treatments for this have undergone major developments over the past 40 years, including balloon angioplasty in 1977, development of bare metal stents (BMS) in the 1980 s, introduction of drug eluting stents (DES) in 2000 (43) and current research into incorporating NO donors into stents. The first stent implantation performed on a human was conducted in 1986 (13), since then they have become one of the most common ways of intervention due to atherosclerosis. In the US there are 500,000 people who undergo stenting annually (42). The success of stenting is inhibited by the reoccurrence of restenosis. Multiple things can affect the rate of in stent restenosis, elevated LDL levels, increased levels of plasminogen activator inhibitor I, type 2 diabetes and enhanced platelet aggergability (10). Therefore the severity of restenosis will differ between patients. Nobuyoshi et al, (1) and Serruys et al (2) found that restenosis is not an instantaneous development after stent implantation, it develops between the 1st and 3rd month after implantation, although the greatest change in luminal diameter occurred between the 2nd and 3rd month. Wastewater treatment with microalgae is a more environmental sound approach to reduce nitrogen and phosphorus and to remove heavy metals from wastewater. Microalgae can absorb significant amount of nutrients because they need large amounts of nitrogen and phosphorus for proteins (45 60% microalgae dry weight) and metals as micronutrients for their growth. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2.2.1Nitrogen Organic nitrogen is the key element in biological substances like enzymes, peptides, proteins, chlorophylls and energy transfer molecules such as ADP (Adenosine diphosphate) and ATP (Adenosine 5 triphosphate) [33]. Organic nitrogen is derived from inorganic sources including nitrite (NO2 ), nitrate (NO3 ), nitric acid (HNO3), ammonia (NH3), ammonium (NH4+), and nitrogen gas (N2). Microalgae has an ability to convert inorganic nitrogen be only in the forms of nitrite, nitrate and ammonium to organic nitrogen through a process called assimilation. Only eukaryotic algae can perform assimilation [32]. Figure 2.2 describes the assimilation process of inorganic nitrogen. As shown in the figure 2.2, translocation of inorganic nitrogen takes place across the plasma membrane where reduction of nitrate takes place followed by the incorporation of ammonium into amino acids and glutamine. Initially nitrate is reduced to nitrite by a NADH dependent nitrate reductase and the nitrite reduced to ammonium by NADPH linked nitrite reductase present within the algae. The resulting ammonium is assimilated to form amino acids by glutamine and glutamate synthase within the intracellular fluid using adenosine triphosphate (ATP), glutamate (Glu) and glutamine synthase. Thus, all inorganic forms of nitrogen are finally reduced to organic form (amino acids) [32]. Figure 2.2 Conversion of inorganic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Operant conditioning is when one behaves a certain way and then is reinforced or punished for their actions. Praise is a form of positive reinforcement, when introducing an incentive that will likely increase or maintain a desired result. People are split as to whether or not praise is helpful to a child s development. Some believe Praise inhibits motive and increases the child s uncertainty in their own abilities. On the other hand, there are people who believe praise is a useful tool for adults to teach children how to behave in modern society. Alfie Kohn wrote an article titled Five Reasons to Stop Saying Good Job. In this article he states his beliefs about praise and how it is not a beneficial tool. Kohn feels that praise is in fact hurting today s children. He explains his five reasons on why praise should not be used(Kohn, 2001). Kohn s first reason is that praise is used to manipulate the children. Kohn says that praise is sugar coated control (Kohn, 110, 2001) adults use to pressure their child into good behavior. Also, well before children finish their grade school, they will witness up to 8,000 murders and 100,000 violent acts on television (Levine, 1995: 143). Moreover, children spend more time learning about life through media than in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, because young children do not understand the line between fantasy and reality, one may find children crawling down storm drains looking for them [Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles] (Minow LaMay, 1995: 33). This example clearly represents that children do not understand that their favorite characters are only made up characters and that they do not exist in reality. However, many children may act upon their favorite movie or film character in such way, that they will try to imitate them. Young children instinctively imitate actions, or rather model human behavior by observation without always possessing the intellect or maturity to determine if such actions are appropriate. For example, in Bandura s modeling studies children expressed more aggressive behavior toward the blow up doll called Bobo, when they observed an adult model verbally and physically attack the doll in real life, on film, or in a cartoon (Westen, 1996: 206). Therefore, due to the televisions programs role model capacity to promote real world violence, there is a deep concern that watching violent programs on television will cause children to become more aggressive. As a result of viewing violent programs on television, children may become more aggressive toward other children, use violence and aggressiveness in their play, and use violence to solve their ... In Nature By Ralph Waldo The essays Nature and self reliance almost support each other in the way they depict self respect as not just an aspect of life, but as life Itself and anything less is more dead than any end one could meet under most any circumstances. They simply approach the subject with different idea s. This kind of thing of course is to be expected due to the fact the author published both books. Oddly enough the books, both reference nature and self reliance only each one is more dedicated to one subject over the other. Self reliance on the other hand makes the claim that if one is not strong enough will use to make such an claim or some other they are dead by every sense but name. In Chaucer s Wife of Bath s Tale he speaks of a young knight that is motivated by lust. As the knight saw a maiden walking by he decides to rape her although she tries to resist his force. However in Marie de Frances lay Lanval , she talks about a knight that possessed great qualities such as beauty and courage, this caused him to be envied by many. If it had not been for his misfortune he would not live a sad and lonely life. No one offered to assist this worthy knight because he was born far away and spent all of his inheritance. He then has to marry the hag because he is set free and at the end she turns into a beautiful young lady. This is ironic because of the crime he commits the tale ends with him having a happy ever after. This is a major deference seen in the consequences given to both men for their crimes committed. In a real life scenario the knight consequences should have been harsher instead he is rewarded with a beautiful young lady. If the hag had remained old and ugly that would be fair punishment. The nurse now becomes a metaphor for society and how most people think, and him turning her back towards her and facing the light shows him beginning to turn his back on society and starting to question and reject it, thus becoming enlightened. Every time the doctor starts to critically think out loud, the camera goes from a medium shot to a medium close up of the back of his head. He then begins to talk about how he sees Janet s real face or her actual self. This scene was after Janet broke down to the doctor, questioning who says what is attractive and normal, and saying a powerful quote This state is not God. This clearly affected the doctor and got him thinking and realizing that she is a human being. Earlier in this scene, the nurse refers to Janet as Patient 307 rather than her own name. This shows how society can easily dehumanize people when we do not deem them functioning members of society, for there is nothing more demeaning then being referred to as a number as we have seen in terrible times such as the Holocaust referring to the concentration camp members. The nurse, remaining in the dark, says It s easier for me to think of her as human when her face is covered up . • 35. The Humoral Theory Of William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet The humoral theory is one of the oldest theories of Medicine that proposed that our bodies are made up of four different humours: black bile, blood, phlegm, and yellow bile. It was believed that while in good health the humours were in a harmonious balance throughout the body but illness is said to have disrupted that balance causing one or more humour to become disordered. It is also said that the mind is effected by the equilibrium of the four temperamentsknown as melancholic, sanguine, choleric, and phlegmatic and that they dispersed to make up certain characteristics or personality traits. Critics have long described Shakespeare as using these humours and temperaments as a way for the audience to understand the character, plot and other aspects of his plays. In such plays as Romeo and Juliet where critics have described Romeo as being a melancholy figure it is exceptionally brought about by using the four humours involved in the humoral theory that is said to have first originated by Hippocrates and later elaborated on by Galen. The four humours include Black Bile which is related to the melancholic temperament and said to be associated with the element earth, the season of winter, the planet Saturn, the spleen, and cold and dry qualities. The humour Blood is related to the sanguine temperament and associated with the element air, the season spring, the planet Jupiter, the heart, and hot and moist qualities. • 36. Solar Energy Is The Conversion Of Power From The Sun Research Paper Solar Energy Blakely J. Phillips BGEN 440, Montana State University Billings Introduction Solar energy is the conversion of power from the sun to usable electricity (Alternative Energy, 2014). The most common source of solar energy utilizes photovoltaic cells to convert sunlight into electricity (Alternative Energy, 2014). Photovoltaics use a semi conductor to absorb the radiation from the sun, creating and emitting electrons, which are then harnessed and used as electricity (Alternative Energy, 2014). Pros of Solar Energy There are many advantages of using solar energy. It is renewable, abundant, sustainable, environmentally friendly, and more. Solar energy is a renewable energysource, which means that unlike non renewable energy sources such as fossil fuels, coal, and nuclear energy, we cannot run out of solar energy (Maehlum, 2014). As long as the sun is alive, which according to NASA is another 6.5 billion years, we will have access to solar energy (Maehlum, 2014). The true potential of solar energy is astounding and overly abundant. The surface of Earth receives 120,000 terawatts of solar radiation, better known as sunlight, which is 20,000 times more energy than what is needed to supply power to the entire world (Maehlum, 2014). Solar energy is not only abundant and renewable it is also sustainable and environmentally friendly. Based on the readings of The Speech of Aristophanes, the theorist Aristophanes states that the key to love and happiness is the search to finding ones other half , in which the couple becomes together or whole . In the quest to becoming one , the individuals find themselves in a lifelong togetherness, what some claim to be considered finding your soul mate When becoming whole the newly formed partnership embrace in sexual relations and share experiences with one another. In order to fully understand Aristophanes concept of erotic love, it is imperative to summarize and highlight details of the story in The Speech of Aristophanes. The form of Aristophanes speech, comes in as a myth of a story long ago where there were three genders: male, female and androgynous, all of which were twice what they humans are now. For example, two sets of hands and two sets of legs. Though the gods hated these beings, they knew they could not kill them, as forfeiting humans as sacrifices. So, in replace Zeus decided to cut the humans into two, but keeping them whole on either side, including their genitals. Because the humans, now half, had been whole for so long, they constantly had urges to find their other half to make them whole again, which begins Aristophanes theory of longing for one another.
