Short Story Sequel To Pride And Prejudice
A short story sequel to Pride and Prejudice Darcy and Elizabeth have been married for three years.
Elizabeth felt extremely happy. It was not easy to manage such a big manor, but with innate
intelligence and clever, she soon became prevalent with everyone though there were several
servants expressing disdain for her origins in the first few months of marriage. Among the loveto the
new hostess, Mrs. Reynolds loved Elizabeth the most. Mrs. Reynolds loved Darcy the same as
loved her own child. When she saw Darcy altering the habit of travelling around and beginning
to live in the home, her heart was saturated with gratitude for Elizabeth. Elizabeth enjoyed as
hostess dignity and grace in Pemberley. On condition that she expressed a willingness of any
things she loved, Mr. Darcy would do everything to gratify her. What s more, some of her wishes
she does not show. Nevertheless, as long as Mr. Darcy was conscious of what she had in mind,
he would make every effort to achieve the aspirations of his wife. Although they had been
married for one year, he still loved his wife very much. In Mr. Darcy s heart, the meaning of
happiness is together with Elizabeth. Because of Mr. Darcy s love and gratitude, Elizabeth
argued that she should not just act as a competent female owner s duty as compassionate
servants and farmers like her husband, more important was to take care of his sister Georgiana.
Georgiana had no sisters, and her mother died when she was overwhelmingly small. She had
always been exceedingly humble and timid at home. However, since her brother married,
Georgiana had a pretty and clever sister in law. Elizabeth s words and deeds gradually have good
effects on Georgiana, for that reason she slowly opened up mind. She loved the sister in law
very much, and she treated Elizabeth like her own sister to love in less than a year together, but
also Elizabeth took Georgiana like her own sister. All this, Mr. Darcy saw in the eyes. As a result,
he loved his dear Elizabeth more and more. They loved each other very much. Elizabeth and Mr.
Darcy have always been so in love, but only on the premise of the biggest quarrel since three days
ago. Elizabeth lay down on the bed of a large goose and looked at

What Is Gilgamesh s Quest For Eternal Life
The Epic of Gilgamesh s was written to teach that true immortality is acheived through
everlasting works, not everlasting life. Gilgamesh, king of Uruk, came face to face with the
inevitability of death when his friend Enkidu died: Hear me, great ones of Uruk, / I weep for
Enkidu, my friend, / Bitterly moaning like a woman mourning / I weep for my brother (22).
Gilgamesh was a mighty and powerful demigod who had never feared before this turning point in
his life. Unable to accept this reality, Gilgamesh s fear of the unknown led him to embark on a
quest for eternal life. Gilgamesh eventually realized the futility of conquering deathwhen he
exclaimed, O Urshanabi, was it for this that I toiled with my hands, is it for this I have wrung

Fast Food And Obesity
FOOD MATTERS: RESEARCH Obesity in children increases the more hours they watch
television. Children s exposure to TV ads for unhealthy food products (i.e., high calorie, low
nutrient snacks, fast foods and sweetened drinks) are a significant risk factor for obesity. In very
young children, research has found that for every one hour increase in TV viewing per day,
there are higher intakes of sugar sweetened beverages, fast food, red and processed meat, and
overall calories (48.7 kcal/day). Excess weight can be gained by the addition of only 150
calories a day. Other research has found that children who watch more than three hours of
television a day are 50 per cent more likely to be obese than children who watch fewer than two
hours. Food and beverage advertising targeted at children influences their product preferences,
requests and diet. The food and beverage industry has resolved to self regulate their marketing to
children, but this has not resulted in significant improvement in the marketing of healthier food
(i.e., fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low fat or non fat milk or dairy products, lean meats,
poultry, fish and beans) to children. Almost three out of every four foods advertised to children
falls into the unhealthy categories that contribute to the obesity epidemic. Food ads on television
make up 50 percent of all the ad time on children s shows. These ads are almost completely
dominated by unhealthy food products (34 percent for

Church Camp Counseling
Church Camp Counseling
For community service I worked at Lake Lucerne Camp Wisconsin United Methodist Church for
two weeks, one week of training and one week of assistant counseling. The first week of training
consisted of all the adult councilors and everyone (high schoolers) who signed up for the Leaders
In Training (LIT) Program. The LIT group was the only group there besides the church group
Rizing Sun, a group of children from kindergarten to twelfth grade who all have one or more
parents in incarceration. The second week I went back to assistant council was for a horse camp
for middle schoolers. Doing community service has had an impact on others, on myself, and my

in some way, but they can all be connected in one way, through god. It s that connection of ideals
that unites us all, young and old, the feeling that all around you, you can share and speak freely
about your beliefs. I wish it was like that all around the world and not just at camp or church were

BP Amoco Case Essay
1. In a defined contribution (DC) pension plan, the employee or employer, or both, make regular
contributions to the plan. In the US, employees typically set aside a predetermined percentage of
their earnings which is deposited to the plan and the employer will match that contribution.
Ultimately, the amount of money available to the individual upon retirement is determined by the
performance of their investments. Each employee retains the option to choose how to diversify
their investments, while the employer will typically provide a default allocation option. The
options available are generally very varied, and includes a number of index funds and actively

participants with an average of $186,000 per participant, and contributions of about $4,182 per
year from each one of them. The company matched contributions up to 7% of pay. BP America
had a different defined contribution plan. The company offered employees the opportunity to buy
shares of company stock, invest in a stable income fund managed internally and seven public
mutual funds. The mutual funds included three active funds on US equities, one active fund on
international equities, two active balanced funds that invested on bonds and stocks, and one index

Why I Want To Work In Political Science
My major is Government (Political Science) and of course I am going to get a job that ties into my
Political Science degree. Since Political Sciences is basically the study of politics, I want to work in
place where politics is the main focus. So that s why I choose to work for CNN. And CNN is a
company that employs people who have great knowledge and understanding of politics. Cable News
Network is basic cable and satellite television news channel owned by turner broadcasting system.
CNN was founded in the year 1980 by American media proprietor Ted Turner as a twenty four

The site is updated continuously throughout the day. I also want to work for CNN because they
are a company that knows how to experiment and try other things to help the company grow to
become better. CNN has launched two specialty news channels for the American market which
would later close amid competitive pressure: the sports news channel CNNSI shut down in 2002,
while business news channel CNNfn shut down after nine years on the air in December 2004.
CNN also once had a partnership with Sports Illustrated through the sports website CNNSI.com,
but sold the domain name in May 2015. CNNfn s former website now redirects to
money.cnn.com, a product of CNN s strategic partnership with Money magazine. Money and
Sports Illustrated were both Time Warner properties until 2014, when the company s magazine
division was spun off into the separate Time Inc. Also back in 2012 , CNN launched CNN Films
which is a motion picture division of CNN. CNN films mainly produced original feature length
documentaries that will examine an array of political, social, and economic subject matters.
And my final reason of why I want to work at cnn is biggest and arguably the most most popular
news network ever. According to adweekly, driven by live coverage of the year s US presidential
election, 2016 was CNN s most watched year in its history.

Summary Of The Flies
The Flies
Part One:
Sartre, Jean Paul.
Part Two: The audience first meets Orestes while he is in town seeking direction to Aegisthus s
house. Orestes attempts to get this information by knocking on a door in town but unfortunately
the tenant of the house disregards him and closes the door on Orestes. Orestes continues through
town when he expresses to his tutor that he believes that Zeus is following them. When Zeus
finally approaches the two men the tutor asks Pray, whom have I am the honor of addressing?
(Sartre, 51). Zeus replies Demetrious is my name, and I hail from Athens. (Sartre, 51). This is the
first time that the audience gets any idea of where the name of the play may have come from. It is
also the first time that Orestes and his tutor learn why there are suddenly so many flies in town.
As the three men are walking through Argos they hear cries coming from the palace. Zeus explains
to them that these cries are a sort of memoir. They people are remembering the death of their king
Agamemnon, who was murdered fifteen years ago. Orestes then recalls that Agamemnon had a
daughter name Electra, so he asks Zeus what her take on this whole ordeal is. Zeus then explains
that Agamemnon also had a son named Orestes. The audience of the play quickly realizes that
Orestes is undercover in his journey to reach Aegisthus.
Orestes is able to enter the palace and finds out the reality of what is happening inside. Here he
comes into contact with Electra. Electra is known

The History Of Ethnography
Movies are stupendous sources of entertainment, and have been since the nineteenth century. In the
year eighteen eighty eight Thomas Edison, the wonderful inventor of the electric bulb and the
phonograph decided to construct machines for producing and displaying moving photographs. With
the assistance of W.L.K Dickson, Thomas began analyzing and altering the phonographto make
rows of small pictures on similar cylinders. Any sound reproducing machine using records in the
form of cylinders or discs is a phonograph. ( Dictionary.com) Mr. Edison travels to Paris in
eighteen eighty nine to take a look at Eitenne Marey s camera, and it happened to use flexible film.
Then Dickson obtained some of George Eastman s Kodak film stock and started to work on
different style of machinery.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally by eighteen ninety four the European Lumiere brothers, Louis and Auguste,
manufactured a camera that served as both a recording device and projecting device. They then
were able to name it the Cinematographer to make films cheaper than those Thomas sold. Later
on in eighteen ninety five the very first movie produced with the Cinematographer was workers
leaving the Lumiere factory at Lyon. All of these fantastic inventors have given people all around
the world a chance to step into a new reality and take a break from the real world. With such a
rich and beautiful history movies have come a long way over time and developed many different

The role of Jocasta in Oedipus the King is crucial....
The role of Jocasta in Oedipus the King is crucial. Jocasta sees the reality of the situation before
Oedipus and the chorus do. The prophecies made themselves known long ago, and Jocasta believed
that they would come true. Jocasta did have faith in the oracles, but only enough faith to suit her
own purpose. She worked to suppress much of the faith Oedipushad in them, in the interest of
keeping the city, herself, and Oedipus in a powerful yet strong position. Jocasta s role in the story
influenced Oedipus to think back to Laius death and begin to try to solve the Sphinx s riddle.
Jocasta explains that an oracle called for her husband s death to be at the hand of his own son.
Seeing that thieves evidently killed the king, Oedipus as the... Show more content on

Running away gave Oedipus the ability to avoid the oracle. Oedipus avoiding his prophecy, and
Jocasta and Laius avoiding theirs, enabled Jocasta to convinced herself that chance ruled their
lives, not prophecies. In Oedipus the King, it seems as though chance is a motif. King Laius
was said to be killed at three crossroads. When Oedipus ran from Corinth, he admitted to killing a
man who caused conflict along the way. The chance this could be the same man is very slim;
the two stories did not match up. Jocasta demands Oedipus tell her what he is thinking when he
is trying to solve the kings murder. It crosses Oedipus mind that he could be the killer, however;
guilt left him in strong defense when he tells Jocasta, I cannot be the killer. One can t equal many
(Sophocles, 934). This foreshadowing shows a possible suspect, and Oedipus guilty conscience.
The witnesses to the death recall multiple thieves being resent, and also that the murder took place
at the three crossroads. The Greek goddess of the crossroads, Hecate, was said to have three heads.
Each head looked down a different path one saw the past, one the present, and one the future.
Though Hecate isn t mentioned in the play, perhaps the three way crossroads in Oedipus the King
has a similar symbolism. (www.shmmoop.com). The three crossroads relate to Jocasta in that she

Sunk Cost Fallacy Research Paper

lifetime. The Sunk Cost Fallacy can be described as the price or time you are paying for your
investment. If a lot of time and effort have been dedicated to that certain job than it will always
be much more difficult for the person to quit the fallacy. Ever since we were kids we have been
told by our parents and teachers to never quit our goals and aspirations, but what if we aren t
good at something and never will be? If a person quits for a positive reason to improve their life
then that is when quitting is good. We are prone to make the mistake because we are not open

How Does Ring Sling Work
Understanding the Ring Slings Summary: This article provides information about ring slings.
What Are Ring Slings? A baby sling is a cloth that is used to help support a young child, so that
the parent can wear them around, without having to hold them with their own hands. It is a part
of the culture of baby wearing. Baby wearing is a practice that has been around for generations,
and is the practice of carrying a child around using a sling or some type of long cloth secured to
the parent s body. Ring slings have become increasingly popular with many parents today.
Through two metal or nylon rings a cloth is woven and made into a pouch like apparatus. The
cloth wraps around the carrier s body and is supported by one shoulder. The threaded cloth
creates a buckle like effect that prevents the cloth from slipping. The baby is placed inside the
little pouch either laying down or sitting up. Once the proper adjustments have been made, the
child can easily be put in the sling as well as removed. In addition, parents are able to remove the
sling with little hassle and put it back on just as quickly. Most parents find that it provides one of
the safest baby wearing experiences available.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ring sling baby carrier works through a delicate balance of tension and friction that is needed
to lock the metal rings into place. The baby s initial weight placed in the sling, adds tension to
the fabric that translates up to the metal rings and causes enough friction to lock the rings;
therefore, the sling is locked in place. There are many variations of the ring sling baby carriers.
Ring slings were developed using rings in order to help promote sturdiness and adjustability. The
variations of the ring sling are accredited to the many different ways that the sling can be utilized,
such as the pouch style or the shoulder support style. Why Should You Consider a Ring

Book Review Of Ishmael Beah
Introduction The author of this book, Ishmael Beah was forced to become a child soldier at 12
years old due to the civil war occurring in his home country of Sierra Leone which first began in
1991. After Ishmael s home village of Mogbwemo was attacked by rebels he was separated from
his family, forcing him to flee. Without a home or a family to take care of him, Ishmael then
spent months wandering with a group of other boys who had been displaced by the war. While
taking refuge in a village protected by the government army, Ishmael was forced to fight for the
government against the rebels which ultimately ended up lasting for almost 3 years. In 1996,
Ishmael was rescued by a UNICEF coalition where he began his journey of rehabilitation for...

Life changed for Ishmael in January 1996, when UNICEF aid workers took him and other child
soldiers to a rehabilitation center in Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone. Although hesitant at
first, Ishmael eventually began to trust the workers and took a special liking to Esther, a nurse
who played an integral role in his rehabilitation. By September of 1996, Ishmael was
rehabilitated and was speaking in front of the UN where he discussed the effects of war on
children and shared his story. Returning to Sierra Leone, Ishmael stayed with his last living
relative, uncle Tommy which is short lived as the rebels invade Freetown and shortly after uncle
Tommy dies after contacting a fever. Fearing that if he stayed he would join the army, Ishmael
fled to the neighbouring Guinea so he could get a flight to the United States where he would
stay with Laura Simms, a story teller he met while at the UN and who would end up adopting
him. Analysis There are two major structural conditions which ultimately led to Ishmael
becoming a child soldier which are the nature of war and poverty. During times of war there is
no escaping the violence and uncertainty that follows it. Ishmael is a prime example of this as the
nature of war heavily contributed to him becoming a child soldier. This is first seen when Ishmael
is attacked by villagers that feared he and his friends were rebel spies. The

individuals emancipated from foster care, best practices were determined and Adventure Therapy

Finally, personal influence concerning future professional practice was discussed.
Literature Review
Limitations
Due to a variety of factors, former and current foster care youth are confronted with a range of
challenges and limitations. The literature on these challenges and limitations agrees, young adults
aging out of foster care face more barriers to success than peers who were not involved in the
welfare system (Lee, Courtney, Harachi, Tajima, 2015; Gomez, Ryan, Norton, Jones, GalГ

Cisneros, 2015; Olson, Scherer, Cohen, 2017; Rebbe, Nurius, Ahrens, Courtney, 2017). Among the
challenges include learned helplessness, lack of confidence in transitioning to adulthood, low self
esteem, poor decision making skills, and increased likelihood to be involved with the criminal
justice system (Lee et al., 2015; Gomez et al., 2015; Olson et al., 2017; Rebbe et al., 2017).

Mortality In Into Thin Air
The reality of mortality: A personal understanding on Into Thin Air
By: Reta Meng
They helped outsiders find their way into the sanctuary and violate every limb of her body by
standing on top of her, crowing in victory, and dirtying and polluting her bosom . (Krakauer 299)
This was the context of a letter sent to Krakauer from a Sherpa orphan, indicating the harm that has
been done to Everest.
Into Thin Air is a spectacular novel written by the well celebrated author Jon Krakauerfrom his true

As an experienced mountaineer, Krakauer s childhood dream had been to climb Mount Everest.
This lingering dream was triggered with a full blast when he accepted the offer of being on Rob
Hall s leaded expedition as a reporter for Outside magazine. Krakauer had to change his attitude
from a free willed climber to an obedient client on the team and was concerned about his other
fellow clients when they were first acquainted. In outlook and experience they were nothing like the
hard core climbers with whom I usually went into the mountains . (Krakauer 39) In previous years,
Krakauer had always climbed alone or with some trusted friends. He came to realize that one must
completely rely on the guide instead of other clients on a guided expedition. After meeting the other
clients, Krakauer develops a sense of superiority as he is one of the most experienced climbers on
the team. It shocked him when the author found out that clients Beck Weathers, Stuart Hutchinson,
and Lou Kasischke never tried on their mountaineering boots beforehand and Hutchinson even
failed to notice his crampons (steel spikes that are attached to the bottom of boots to help with ice
climbing) did not fit his boots. As the expedition drags on, Krakauer became more acquainted with
the rest of his team members and has a change in mindset. I learned that between the demands of
their families and their high powered careers, few of my fellow clients had had the opportunity to
go climbing more than once or twice in the previous year.... But maybe I m just being a snob, I
scolded myself. Krakauer admits through this context that he is deeply concerned about his
inexperienced teammates although he realized that it is not up to him to worry about such things.
He came to realize that although many other clients were extremely unexperienced, their goal to

Taking a Closer Look at a CPU
Although many people are computer nerds; many people do not know what a CPU is; or what it
does. A computer has many parts that make up the hardware, and the software; enabling it to
function correctly. One of the main components that a computer needs to work is a Central
Processing Unit also known as the microprocessor. The central processing unitincludes all the
computers main parts, and is the basic part of the computer. The CPU is responsible for executing
out tasks, and running the software. The software runs on programs that are translated into number
codes made up of 1s and 0s that the central processing unit can understand. Each code that is
executed means a certain operation should take place. A CPU serves for four functions; Fetch,
Decode, Execute, and write back these functions are the four primary ones. Other functions that
follow are the Arithmetic and logic unit, as well as the Memory access.
In the first step of dealing with a CPU the fetch function is up first. The fetch function involves
retrieving information that it needs to run from the program memory, and basically giving it
instructions which is put in by a number of a whole line of them from the memory. Wherever the
memory may be is determined by the (PC) which is also known as the program counter. The PC
stores a number that can keep track of the current place in the program. When the instruction is
fetched the Program Counter is then inputted by the length of the instruction in word terms of the

Summary Of To My Dear And Loving Husband By Anne Bradstreet
The life of a Puritan woman, from a modern perspective, was a very simple one. They cleaned,
cooked, sewed, mothered, and tended to the husband. There weren t many other options for a
woman in those times and that society. It was either be a wife/mother, nun, or a fallen woman.
Anne Bradstreet chose to be a wife/mother, and unintentionally, the earliest US poet.
The themes of her poems are romantic; however because of her status as a Puritan woman, even in
her own personal writings, she was restrained to her time. As a wife, she was considered an
official lady, the moral compass that Puritan society looked up to: because of this she was limited
to what erotic activities she could perform with her husband. Knowing this, her writings were
probably expected to reflect her status and reflect the time in which she lived, and they do, to an
extent. Although Bradstreet never thought that her poems would be published or seen by the
public she still wrote them in such a way that they couldn t be considered/taken as blatantly sexual
or immoral, in a type of code for instance. One such poem that demonstrates this type of code is, To
My Dear and Loving Husband. Romance during those times and in Puritan society wasn t exactly
how we view romance nowadays. To the Puritans marriage was secondary love; their First love was
to God which for them was true love. The main reason behind the act of sex was to procreate,
rather than being for pleasure. Now a fallen woman

In order to maintain bone health, vitamin D helps regulate the use of calcium and phosphorus
levels. In the remodeling of bone osteoclats, break down old bone and osteoblasts then come in
and lay down a new bone matrix, which increases the bone s density. Calcium and phosphorus
attach to newly formed bone matrix made of osteocalcin, which is produced with the aid of
vitamin D and vitamin K. The formation of hydroxyappitie, only possible with vitamin D, gives
strength and structured to bones. With little intake of vitamin D, the absorption of calcium and
phosphorus level significantly lowers in the small intestine. As a result, bone s lack necessary
amounts of calcium, causing them to become brittle. Poor, brittle bones then leads to
osteoporosis, which begins around the age of 40 due to the breakdown of bone by osteoclasts
exceeding the building process of bone by osteoblasts. The highest bone build up possible is
during the first 30 years of one s life, therefore being only 20, I need to maintain proper vitamin D
levels in order to have the highest absorption of calcium and phosphorus from my daily food
consumption (Blake pg. 240 242, 300 305). Also as a female, I have a higher chance of
developing osteoporosis due to the loss of estrogen after I finish menopause. According to my

How Did The Collapse Of The Soviet Union
The collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, also known as the USSR, brought with it a number of
downfalls. This was especially true with regard to businesses that had originated or had ties to the
country, which had been divided into 15 separate republics then. One of the organizations that
suffered dearly with the fall of the Soviet Unionwas the startup aviation company known as Baltia
Air Lines.
With communism gone, and a rush to put democracy in place, Russia s economy and the everyday
life of its inhabitants were falling apart. In a time where many countries were experiencing growth,
Russia s GDP began to suffer. For Baltia Air Lines, this was a huge setback.
In 1991, the United States Department of Transportation selected three new airlines to conduct
flights from the United States to Russia, with Baltia Air lines joining the ranks of Pan American
World Airways, American Airlines, and Trans World Airlines. Of the three newly appointed
airlines, Baltia had a far superior proposal than that of Trans World Airways, as claimed by the
U.S. Department of Transportation. Unfortunately, a number of setbacks led Baltia Air Lines to
place its aviation plans on hold for the time being. Nonetheless, this did not stop Baltia from
pursuing its mission to offer travelers with a non stop flight from the United States to Russia. ...

External Forces Of Darkness In Shakespeare s Play By...
External forces of darkness Darkness is always associated with evil and to a certain extent
deception. In our society, darkness tends to be the primary characteristic of evil. It is also
associated with the supernatural, something Shakespeare uses a lot in his plays. William
Shakespeareemploys the imagery of darkness throughout his tragedyplays, although to different
extents. He uses dark images often to describe the horrors and the evils the characters portray, and
these intensified internal tragic flaws are typically the result of their own doom. Noticeably
Shakespeare Likes to use supernatural effects to create eerie and unsettling feelings amongst the
audience and or readers.
The forces of darkness of Shakespeare s tragic protagonists come from the idea that the characters
themselves are the reason these bad things happen to them, because they cannot control their
internal tragic flaws which overall in the end turns into evil. This however makes the characters
so fascinating to watch. The external forces of darkness are an aspect of these four tragedies that
do play an important role in the plays. The understanding I got from this connection was that
instead of blaming their weaknesses on themselves the protagonists blamed forces of darkness for
their own issues. Although this evilness was there it wasn t the root cause of the characters going
out of control. It showed me that people are always going to find any way to take the blame off
themselves and put it on others because it is one of the best coping mechanism.
The fall of the characters are triggered by external darkness. External darkness comes within a
character from evil forces. And it seems the protagonists blame their own internal flaws on this
external evil. The characters are driven by this darkness to create devastation inside the play. For
example, Hamlet s death is the end of an external wickedness which follows him throughout the
plays. And like the death of King Lear s beloved daughter Cordelia we see that force of darkness
become overwhelming. Macbeths external force of darkness

Using Synthetic Phonics For Improving Reading Essay
Using Synthetic Phonics for Improving Reading
Synopsis
For this assignment, I will first briefly discuss the value of early reading pre school and the stages
of reading. After that I will critically evaluate the history of introducing synthetic phonics reading in
primary schools in England. Furthermore, I will investigate the developments and issues which
have been brought about the different teaching strategies used in schools and using teaching
synthetic phonics in early years to teach first reading.
Introduction
Learning to read is a valuable and important skill that children acquire from a very early age.
Children gain an understanding of the different sounds in our spoken language from a wide range
of different experiences and social interaction with their environment. For example, singing and
saying rhymes, sharing books, making and listening to music, pretend play, listening to adults and
joining in conversations etc ect. as mentioned by Vygotsky (1978)
Children s learning begins long before they attend school.

Essay On Life Of Pi And Willy s American Dream
Firstly, in Life of Pi and Death of a Salesman, Pi and Willy respectively search for hope of
survival and success that reality does not provide them through the creation of their own
imagination. Ironically though Pi is fearful of Richard Parker, he grows to realize that it put
him at ease and gives him hope to fight through the various hardships at sea, It is the irony of
this story that the one who scared me witless to start with was the very same who brought me
peace, purpose. I dare say even wholeness (Martel 179). If the story with the animal is just a
creation of Pi s imagination, then the creation of Richard Parker gives Pi purpose to do anything

The Power Of Language
The Power of Language
Language is often defined as a system of communication, a way for humans to interact with one
another. Language itself can hold a great amount of power. It can express one s emotion, show
love or hate, and could give meaning. For example an object has no identification unless the
power of language is wielded to provide it a name based on its ability and function. Language
often has a great influence on culture and religion. This is shown greatly in the cultures of the
Hebrews and the Greeks which are known for their famous texts Genesis and The
Metamorphoses , two pieces of literature that explains the creation of man from different ways
of belief. The book of Genesis from the Hebrew Bible is used in the practice of Judaism and
Christianity and is the most well known text of this culture. It is also believed to be the very first
book written in the Bible. The Metamorphosis is a story taken from what is called Greek Mythology
, where multiple Gods are believed to exist and each of them holding power over different things.
Both texts use the power of language in different ways to express emotion and bring things to life.
Normally, words are used in language as communication, and a way to describe objects. Objects
usually appear before words. Things are usually seen first, then they are named, described, and
given a meaning. However that does not seem to be the case in the Book of Genesis. In Genesis,
God spoke the world into existence. Before

Crime In America
Question of what is crime warrants various answers, but the most straightforward answer defines
crime as any activity that is against the law. According to Barkan Bryjak (2009) time and space
varies the definition of the crime. According to different experts, crime definition is shaped by the
cultural values, norms and practices of a given society. The political orientation of a particular area
also determines the answer to what is a crime(Jarrell Ozymy, 2012). Therefore, crime perception
differs from one society to another. In fact, the differences are a witness in the media and the
answers many people give if asked what they understand about crime (Barkan Bryjak, 2009).

People from low socio economic status and immigrants are perceived to be more likely involved
in crimes than other groups. Although there have been people arguing that law have been
judging these groups harshly, the erroneous beliefs still dominate most people s minds (Surette,
2011). People tend to focus on people who commit actions that leads to property damage or
personal harm and forget to focus on white collar crime that also cause damage to many people
(Holtfreter, Van Slyke, Bratton Gertz, 2008). In most cases, black people and immigrants are
believed to be more likely involved in crime than white people. The same perception is target to
the people of low socioeconomic status who have limited education yet there are people in the
high social class who engage in crimes such as tax evasion (Barkan Bryjak, 2009). Therefore,
Crimes committed by people in high socioeconomic status are in most cases disregarded or
assumed. In most cases, only a few people would consider educated and affluent people as
probable suspect. Successful people are believed to be less likely to be involved in crime
activities. Such myths are also evident in court rulings since wealthy people are mostly perceived
differently from poor people, immigrants and Blacks (Holtfreter, Van Slyke, Bratton Gertz, 2008).
Such beliefs are just misconception since there are many affluent people who involve themselves
with crimes. Such happens because Crimes committed by middle and high class people in most
cases do not involve violent hence society ignores such crimes (Surette,

Superstition is the black market practice in the field of devotion and should be strongly deterred
A nation that endeavors to be a superpower and wants to join the league of global leaders in
knowledge, science and technology should declare a revolution to eradicate all ills like superstition
and black magic at all levels from its very roots.
If we look at India, one might argue that India being a land of villages and snake charmers is not
free from the evils of superstition, witch hunting, black magic, exorcism and the like. The number
of superstitions and blind beliefs in India is very large as the Indian social fabric is made of people

No religion ordains or justifies black magic, superstition, human sacrifice, witchcraft or any kind of
occult practices. Any resistance to superstition or black magic should not be construed as anti
religion or against the freedom to practice religion which is provided as a fundamental right under
the Constitution. One can be faithful to one s religion of choice without being superstitious. In
India, superstition is part of the traditional fabric; hence tougher laws are considered antithetical to
our cultural ethos.
The problem arises when religion becomes a tool of money making and dupery in the hands of
vested interests to propagate or promote superstition and irrational practices such as predictive
powers to parrots and other animals, exorcist powers to tantriks and Fathers, etc. It becomes a
serious issue when a so called cure is considered a miracle and is attributed to a deity or a living

Sordaria Finicola Lab Report
Genetic Variation in Sordaria Finicola
Introduction:
The purpose of the Sordaria Lab was to explore the affects of genetic variation caused by meiosis
and to record how sexual reproduction] affects the amount of crossing over in certain strains of
Sordaria Fimicola. These organisms are ascomycetes and are also known as sac fungi. This is
because the shape of their asci is in the form of a sac; inside each sac there are structures called
ascospores. It is these structures, ascospores, where genetic variation that arises from crossing over
is easily seen (Davidson). The organism Sordaria Fimicola is a good example of this process
because it is easy to grow on agar plates and because they are easy to be seen when looked at

After two weeks of incubating, we followed the steps below to examine the Perithecium Squashes
(Sordaria Genetics...).
The prepared squashes looked like the figure below when looked at under the microscope.
Figure 4 (Sordaria Genetics...):
Each group member is expected to locate and count twenty asci and record their data in the
tables. All the data will be gathered together from all the students in the course. This data will
then be used to calculate the cross over frequencies between the two types. This can be calculated
by using the formula Type B or C/Total number of asci. Then the frequency of recombination will
be calculated from the data using the formula ((Type B+ Type C)/total number of asci). And finally
the map distance will be calculated for both the tan spore and the gray spore by using the formula
(Percent Cross over/2).

Research Paper On Neephropathy
What is Nephropathy?
Nephropathy is a broad medical used to denote disease or damage of the kidney, which can
eventually result in kidney failure. The primary and most obvious function of the kidney are to
excrete any waste products and to regulate the water and acid base balance of the body.
Neprhopathy is considered a progressive illness; in other words, as kidneys become less and less
effective over time (as disease progresses), the condition of the patient gets worse if left untreated.
Due to that fact, it is pivotal to receive adequate diagnosis and treatment as early as possible.

IgA nephropathy
Since its initial description in 1968, IgA nephropathy remains the most common form of primary
glomerulonephritis that can lead to chronic kidney disease. This condition is very commonly
observed in Southern Europe, Australia and Asia, in Northern climates of the Western World the
incidence is approximately 5 10% of biopsies for glomerulonephritis.
The diagnostic hallmark of the disease is the deposition of IgA antibodies in the glomerule, alone or
together with IgM or IgG antibodies. Activation of innate immune response and complement, as
well as the formation of immune complexes play a significant role in clinical presentation and
severity of the IgA nephropathy.
As there is no pathognomonic clinical presentation (although young males with macroscopic
hematuria followin g an upper respiratory tract infection are highly suspicious for the disease), the
diagnosis necessitates renal biopsy. Currently available therapy options are directed towards
inflammatory and immune events that can result in renal

A Reflection On Race
Reflection 3: Race Race is a group of people of common ancestry, distinguished from others by
physical characteristics, such as skin, eyes, and hair. Race is the one thing that surrounds us and
helps form us without even thinking. People don t think twice about judging someone and guessing
their race. It happens naturally now when you first look or meet someone. Racealso is involved with
a variety of values, assumption, and historical meaning. That explains why people who don t
believe in stereotypes can easily recite them. In the 1900s, deciding who was an american and
who was not was a significant thing that was going on. The film states, Whiteness was not just
being a skin color, to be white was to gain the full rewards of american citizenship. In other
words, if you weren t considered white, you lived a struggled life. The ideal thing in the 1900s
was to be considered white because that is when you were able to have the most opportunities
and do something for family. The film also explains that in 1909 courts and legislators would
determine who was white. People started question how the would work out in the sufficient way
but the problem was that different states would consider different things. For example, In Virginia
you were considered black if you had 1/16 of black in you. While in Florida it was 1/8 but Alabama
considered you black if you had any black in you. In other words people could walk across a state
line and change race. Therefore, people question what is the main criteria for being American .
The film states that you would have to gain full rewards of american citizenship to be considered
white and it had to be decided through a judge. This leads to a large amount of flaws. For
instance, in 1915 Leo Frank, a jew in atlanta was pulled from jail and hung for killing a white
girl. People started to question what was white and if a Jew could be considered a white man.
People who were seen as non american were seen as the enemy. They strip them of their civil
liberties and put them in internment camps. This start becoming a problem because what becomes
our country if most people are getting kicked out and killed. The problem was that there was no
exact way to calculate if you were

Dr Malcolm Clemens Young Summary
Why do you believe that the Reverend Dr. Malcolm Clemens Young is addressing Christians in his
discussion about wealth inequality?
Reverend Young addresses Christians about wealth inequality as he states that Jesus cared for the
poor and consequently, followers of the faith have an obligation to do the same.
What assumptions is he making about religious people?
Dr. Young assumes that religious individuals, and more specifically Chrisitans, are seperate entities
from the top 5% of wage earners. Moreover, the author implies that these extremely wealthy
individuals are materialistic and devoid of the morals and values that are inherent in the less
fortunate. Young states that it is the working poor (who)... contribute a great deal more to society
than the highly paid people who merely move money around.
Reverend Young uses Mitt Romney as an example of excessive riches and details his 7 houses.
However, the author fails to note that Mr. Romney is in fact, a devout Mormom who donates

Moreover, Reverend Young fails to realize that a strong business acumen can co exisit in
individuals with a devout sense of piety as evidenced by the Mennonites and Quakers ( The
Protestant Ethics and the Spirit of Capitalism 11).
Do you think folks who are religious care more or less about income equality? Why or why not?
I believe that when one has a strong set of ethical beliefs, they will care more about society s
issues, including income inequality. However, I do not believe the religious followers always
possess these moral beliefs nor do those who fail to follow an organized religion lack this ethical
framework. It is truly up to the individual.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher s Stone
Though plays have been a form of entertainment for thousands of years, the late 19th Century saw
the invention of a new kind of medium; the motion picture.[1] Since then, comparisons between a
film and the novel it was based upon have become mainstay. Amazingly, ardent fans of a particular
novel can become polarized when the material is changed in any fashion or perceived in a different
sense than the reader imagined. Thus, Book to Film Adaptation Analysis are commonplace in today
s society and ripe with the energetic opinions of the consumer. Harry Potterand the Philosopher s
Stone was a novel written by J.K. Rowling and published by Bloomsbury in 1997.[2] It is the
first book in a series and proved immensely successful having won most of the British book
awards that were judged by children and other awards in the United States.[3] It quickly topped
the New York Times best seller list and stayed near the top for nearly two years![4] By mid 2008
official translations of the book were published in 67 languages. Hollywood, looking for fresh
material, took notice and by the end of 1999, Rowling had sold the film rights to the first four

A Theology Of Leadership For Christ s Church
Theology is an attempt to explain God and his relationship to our world and humanity, while
leadership is the human endeavor or capacity to lead or guide others through an operation, activity,
task, or even through life. To build a theology of leadership is to build on the interrelation between
these two. In order to develop a true theology of leadership, thoughtful reflection on Biblical
scripture and the leadership of those called by God must be examined. What I assert is that of all
the models that we have examined that Servant Leadership is a theology of leadership for Christ
centered pastoral leadership within Christ s church.
Northouse defines leadership as a process whereby an individual influences a group of
individuals to achieve a common goal. Leadership as it works through those in pastoral
leadership in the church then is a process whereby an individual who has been influenced by the
works of Christ as they have journeyed the path of faith and come to embrace and embody Christ
and the gospel message within their own life then in acceptance of Christ s call upon their life goes
out to influence, invite, and empower others to embrace and embody the gospel in their own lives.
For the not yet established church it was Christ who was the original influencer of a ragtag group
of disciples and followers who came to embrace and embody His gospel message and through
which Christ would build His church. So who better to look to when looking at leadership and

that can be computed in order to determine the profitability, liquidity, and solvency of a company.
Both Ford and Tesla are large car companies that have lots of assets. By examining the current
ratio for both companies, accountants, investors and creditors can assess the liquidity and
efficiency for Tesla and Ford to pay off their short term liabilities with its current assets. The
current ratio is a very significant measure tool as these short term liabilities would be due within
the next year. Thus, the companies have a limited time to acquire the funds necessary to pay off the

According to British Broadcasting Corporation s investigations, the company priced one
Volkswagen Golf at ВЈ8,792 online and ВЈ10,999 in the showroom (2014, p. 1). The strategy used
to get customers to its showrooms intended to sell cars expensively more than the valuation
price. Furthermore, the company used unethical tactics to pressurize customers to buy their used
cars. For example, British Broadcasting Corporation undercover investigations revealed that its
sales team promised clients great deals only after buying a car (2014, p. 2). Occasionally, the
sales team did not fully explain the cost of the car before asking clients to commit to buying it; in
this case, the company concealed some information from clients. Moreover, the company lied to
customers that all its cars were inspected by RAC when in reality RAC only approved the
company s inspection process. In addition, RAC confirmed that it only inspects cars randomly from
every branch, but not every car (British Broadcasting Corporation, 2014, p. 5).

John Wyndham s The Chrysalids
A major topic in John Wyndham s novel The Chrysalids is fear. While, trying desperately to protect

attempt of protection has initiated the growth of an uneducated society. But what s got them so
agitated about us is nothing shows. We ve been living among them for nearly twenty years and
they didn t suspect it. We could pass for normal anywhere. (Wyndham 131) In this quote them is

The Importance Of Internet Privacy
The purpose why internet privacy be invented is because the scientists hoped that the hardware,
software and data in its network system can be protected from accidental and malicious damage,
alteration, disclosure. Also wanted its system can be continuous and reliable Running, network
service is not interrupted, etc. But as for today, there are still lots of aspects like viruses and rogue
software are unchecked. The causes of virus and rogue software s rampant are both human factors
and systemic vulnerabilities.
In today s Internet world, Internet security seems to be considered an outdated idea. Instead of
making security a priority, technology companies see it as an added way, not as a security measure.
This can be referred to now there are many unsound places in the construction of Internet security.
But at the same time, some technology companies and the government set special legal restrictions
on them, but also can reflect its sound aspects.
Obviously, legislation is the most effective and direct way to limit cybercrime and improve cyber
security. In the original, there was no law that would prevent cybercrime from taking place. The
company collected data about people s internet access, assembled it into detailed profiles, and sold
it to advertisers or others without a request for permission. So it is best to see the support that
appears on the web and the minimum privacy standards that are turned off. The article states that

My Bike-Personal Narrative
It was in August. I was 8 and my dad told me that we were going to ride our bikes near the
Appalachian Trail. I didn t want to, but he had a rule that if you wanted to do screen time, you
had to do something outdoors. So, we got in my dad s red truck and headed to Vernon, New
Jersey, where my dad wanted us to ride our bikes. When we got there, we pulled out our bikes
from the truck. That s when my bike tipped over and fell on my leg. When it fell, I felt a sharp
pain where it landed. I pushed my bike off and realized that my leg was bleeding because of a
cut. The cut was deep. As soon as my dad saw this, he ran over, took off his sock, and tied it on
my leg. Then he helped me into our truck and drove home. On the drive home, he told me that...

Summary Of Louis Zamperini s Unbroken Essay
Zach Scriven Mr. Belmont College Composition 1 August 31, 2016 Informative Louis
Zamperini Louis Zamperini is best known for being the man that the movie Unbroken is based
off of. The movie portrays most events in his life, but misses many other periods of his life.
Throughout his life he endured many hardships, such as being bullied in high school, struggling
as an Olympian, fighting in World War 2 and later being a Japanese POW, and the mental trauma
resulting from his captivity. Louis Zamperini was born on January 26, 1917, in Olean New
York to Anthony and Louise Zamperini, during World War 1. His Early life was not easy, as an
Italian Immigrant in the 1920s he was constantly bullied and didn t have many friends. He would
steal to pass the time, created tension in his neighborhood, sometimes accompanied by his
younger brother Pete. Because of this the police were constantly being called to the Zamperini
residence. His experience worsened as he entered high school, and he was eventually caught
sneaking into the gymnasium to avoid paying for a ticket. The principal was infuriated and
threatened to ban him from all athletics and dances, but his older brother convinced the principal
to let him try out for the track team. When he initially joined the track team as a sprinter he came
in last in his first race. He wanted to quit after he lost but his brother Pete forced him to stay. Pete
helped him train, and suggested he try a mile race instead. He found out he was good

The Seven Amendments
The constitution of the United States of America is the founding document on which the
government of America is built. It currently has twenty seven amendments. It lines out the specific
government practices as well as the system of check and balances. It was first drafted July, 1787
after the first form of government, the articles of confederation, had proven very inefficient to a
point where it became almost redundant to have them in place. After a large amount of debate the
acting continental congress decide to completely revise the current system. The constitution was
efficient and fair and it kept the parts of government in place while not giving too much power to
one or more branches.
After outlining that, the document begins to outline the basic civil liberties and rights that the
average citizen receives. These are called the amendments. They are the foundation on what the
freedom of America is built with. The amendments spell out the freedoms that Americans had,
everything from the right of religious freedoms to the right to bear arms both of which are regularly
debated subjects today. They made America what America was, the freest country in the world
Each of the amendments had their own set of rights to protect. The first protects Religion and the
right to practice it. The first amendment to the United States Constitution prohibits the making of
any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging
the freedom of

Leadership And The Leadership Styles
1.Webster s defines Leadership as the action of leading a group of people or an organization .
That definition really does the word no justice because leadership can look like a great many
things to different people, and there are equally as many ways to lead. One can lead through fear
or respect, by word or by action. Introduction: My definition of leadershipand the leadership
influences in my career. I have had numerous leaders that have influenced my career and
leadership style to this point. The Chief on my first Patrol Boat was one of the biggest
influences I have had in my career. I remember how he carried himself with confidence. He
empowered his people. He had the personal power to inspire people to want to be better to not
disappoint him. But at the same time was able to hold people accountable, and have you learn
from the experience. I also had a cutter CO that illustrated for me all the qualities I promised
myself I would never be. They did not treat their crew with respect. By their level of
micromanagement, they demonstrated that they did not trust their crew. People just dreaded
coming to work never knowing what the day was going to bring. Even as I strive to ensure I am
never like that leader, there are times that I stop and find myself thinking along the same lines,
and demonstrating some of the same weaknesses. I can see how they fell into the traps that they
did. I am proud of what I have been able to accomplish in my career, and am happy

Stock Market Stock Analysis
At the end of the stock market game the stocks that I own was Amazon, Wal Mart, AutoZone, Ford,
Kohls, Toyota, Coca Cola, and O Reilly. These stocks have done good since I have bought them.
These stocks had their ups and down throughout the whole game, but although they didn t have it
that bad . They may have gained money, but, they also, losted money at the same time. Also, there
were days where the stockprice went up and down since there were people out there that was
willing to pay for the stock at a higher price, but there were others that didn t think it was worth it
at a higher price.
Some of the other stocks that I owned at different times in the stock market game was AT T,
Verizon, Disney, Mcdonald s, Nikes, and Home Depot. I made the decision to get rid of these
stocks because they were having me to lose more money then I was gaining from them. At the end
of having these stocks I losted more money then what I bought them for.
Some of the stocks that I should have bought more of was Amazon, and Wal Mart. Even though I
should have bought more of these two stock; I didn t for one reason, because I wanted to see how
the other stocks will do. These two have made the most this past month than any of the others did.

Introduction: Hello ladies and gentlemen. Today I have the honor of introducing a man who has
influenced the lives of many through the questionable art form of video games. Originally, it was
not Dan Houser s intention to become a game designer, but over time he became fascinated with
storytelling. Dan s brother, Sam, was working for a music label that was trying to branch out into
games, and Dan was allowed to join. Eventually their game, Grand Theft Auto, was released. The
sales were marginally good, but the label lost too much money and decided to sell

Hyperbole Twelfth Night
The play Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare conveys the way love occurs in different forms.
Twelfth Night is set in the fictional coastal European town of Illyria. The story begins when Viola,
finds herself on the coast of Illyria after a shipwreck. Viola disguises herself as Cesario and gains a
position working for Duke Orsino, who is deeply in lovewith Olivia. Olivia refuses his love and
falls in love with his messenger, Cesario. Orsino s and Olivia s love is selfish and persistent
towards Olivia and Cesario respectively. Viola is in love with Orsino but cannot express it because
she would have to break her disguise. After Antonio rescues Sebastian from the shipwreck, he falls
in love with him, but must conceal his love the homosexual relationship would be unacceptable.
These ideas are portrayed through use of hyperbole, soliloquy, dramatic irony, aside and parallel
plots. The techniques prompt the viewer to apply the situation to their own life by extracting
personal morals from the text.
Selfish love is felt by both Orsino and Olivia for the majority of this script. Neither characters
begin to consider that the one they love may not reciprocate the emotion and they continue to
force their love in a place where it will not succeed. Duke Orsino believes that the love he feels
for Olivia is stronger than any love ever felt before and states this when saying. He is vain to the
extent that he believes that Olivia s heart only be fulfilled with These sovereign thrones, are all
supplied, and filled/Her sweet perfections with one self king (I.i.37 38). Shakespeare uses
hyperbole in Orsino s lines to display how extreme, dramatic and passionate his love is to the
reader. Twelfth Nightbegins with Duke Orsino performing a soliloquy which uses hyperbole to
portray to the audience his narcissistic and intense personality. Olivia possesses a similar emotion
but towards Cesario. She has previously hinted her love to Cesario time and time again. When she
openly confesses her love, Cesario states that no woman will hold his heart. Olivia expects that
Cesario will convince himself to love her when saying, thou perhaps mayst move/That heart, which
now abhors, to like his love (III.i.153 154). The technique mostly

The Parable Of The Sower Essay
In The Parable of the Sower , author Octavia Butler realistically describes the dystopia of the U.S
that is currently ruled by poverty, crime, and chaos. Lauren, the main protagonist, evolves and
goes on a physical and emotional journey to create her own beliefs and prepare for life behind the
wall. Lauren lives in the community of Robledo that is guarded by a wall that is meant to protect
them from crime although it often fails to do so. Being the daughter of a Baptist, Lauren is
challenged to conform and participate in the religious passivity of the community. Not having

and tools to make a difference in her community but she foolishly desists. Regardless of her
bright ideas Lauren often second guesses and undermines herself making her a hopeless quitter.
Nevertheless, Lauren is also an admirable brave character who recognizes there is a problem and
fearlessly decides to address it. Lauren confidently decides to share her ideas to her friend

Lauren risked a negative reaction from Joanne and disapproval of her father. Lauren bravely tries
to explain and convince Joanne that they must take action she says, We can stop denying reality

community that ignores and denies the problems present. Lauren understands that thief s will

strongly wishes that her community would take upon themselves to help each other she states,

Stonewall Jackson Essays
Stonewall Jackson
Thomas Jonathan Jackson was a general who served in the Civil war. He was born on January 21,
1824 in Clarksburg, Virginia. Jackson s Parents were Jonathon Jackson Julia Beckwith Neale. He
had 3 brothers and sisters. They were Elizabeth, Warren, and Laura Ann. Elizabeth and Warren were
both older than him, and Laura Ann was younger.
When Thomas was only 8 years old his father and sister, Elizabeth, died of typhoid fever.
After his childhood in Virginia, Stonewall Jackson attended the United States Military Academy at
West Point. He was not the first choice to be able to attend for his congressional unit, but the first

(VMA), in Lexington, Virginia. He accepted the offer and taught natural and experimental

Thomas J. Jackson played a very important roll in the civil war. As a general for the confederate
side he served in many famous battles and was very well known. In November of 1859, Jackson
was one of the Virginia Military Institute officers to accompany the contingent of cadets to
Harpers Ferry, Virginia. At the execution of John Brown, who was an abolitionist, they stood
guard. In 1861 Jackson was in charge of the cadets who were ordered to Richmond. There they
were going to serve as drillmasters for new army recruits. 6 days later, Colonel Jackson was
ordered to take command at Harpers Ferry, where he soon comprised the famous stonewall
Brigade. That July, he was promoted to Brigadier General.
At the first battle of Bull Run, Jackson s small group of troops were facing overwhelming odds
but they formed a strong line and held their ground. At the sight of this, General Barnard Bee said,
There is Jackson s line over there standing like a stonewall. After this statement Thomas Jackson
was given the nickname Stonewall .
In October 1861 Colonel Jackson was promoted to Major General. He served in the seven day
battles, and displayed ineffective leadership, which stood in stark contrast to the brilliance of

The Psych Of Serial Killer
We as humans are born with the potential to create and accomplish some great and mighty things.
For example some people decide to become lawyers, doctors, teachers, and even business owners.
All of which will make them a great asset to society. On the other hand behavioral experts have
noted that there exist extremely violent people in society who don t seem to be contributing
anything positive. Such individuals seem to prey on the weak and innocent. The aim of this study
is to attempt to understand just what makes a serial killerfunction and act on such a high level of
aggression. Several theories will be observed and noted in an effort to properly analyze this issue
of the psych of a serial killer. Hopefully the results will add behavioral experts in formulating
strategies concerning prevention and intervention. Just what is violence? Violence is explained as
hostile emotions or feelings being acted upon. Also it means to be severe, adamant and many
times hazardous by using one s natural strength so as to create hurt or mistreatment (Webster,
2015,p.1). How many times have we seen or heard on the news of two individuals who engaged
in an argument only to have it escalate to a full blown fist fight or end in a shooting death. My
mother once told us of a story of a man named Leroy who had gotten into an argument with a male
friend both men ended up slashing each other to death with a barber s razor. Two young ladies had

Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief Analysis
Through films, poetry, and art, mythology has become synonymous with an alternate telling of
historical events, or explaining events previously misunderstood by the general public. Although it
may seem like simple fiction to most, mythology has become intertwined with the Greek culture,
and is key in an overall understanding of how the world works. The book I have read is Percy
Jackson The Olympians: The Lightning Thief. Through the eyes of Rick Riordan, a simple story of
an ordinary student begins to unravel, and discusses several key figures and moments of ancient
Greek culture, and therefore, mythological beings of grand power. Close to the beginning of the
book, the main character, Percy Jackson, visits a museum and is asked to explain an event
depicted in one of the picture. Afterwards, he is asked why knowledge of these mythological
events would matter in reality (Riordan 5,6). This exact question is the central theme throughout
the book, and is what I pondered throughout the story. Percy Jackson thinks he is a normal twelve
years old student. Well, not normal because he has Dyslexia and ADHD. One day, after
encountering a mythological creature, chasing after him for an unknown reason, he learns that
he is not ordinary, after all. He is a son of an Olympian God, Poseidon, and his best friend, Grover,
is not a boy, but a satyr in disguise. He does not have Dyslexia and ADHD, he just has the ability
to read Ancient Greek, and act like a warrior. His mother kept

William Shakespeare s King Lear Essay
William Shakespeare s King Lear In William Shakespeare s tragedy, King Lear, the issue of sight
on many levels is a recurring theme. Throughout the play Shakespeare shows that sight does not
just come from the eyes. It is shown through the characters of Lear, Gloucester and how they
compare to each other. Lear s character is one that never learns what it means to see without
ones eyes. Lear s sight is hazed because of his lack of ability to see inside of people, he can not tell
who they really are. When Lear is angered by Cordelia, Kent tries to reason with Lear, who is too
angry and upset to have an open mind. Lear responds to Kent s opposition with, Out of my sight!,
to which Kent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lear s sight is also tainted by his lack of direction and by not being able to see the consequences
of his actions. This, as well as his lack of insight into people, causes the fall out of his
relationship with his daughter Cordelia. When Lear asks his daughters who loves him the most,
he thinks this will be Cordelia. However when Cordelia says, I love your majesty/According to
my bond, no more nor less (I.i.94 95), Lear can not see past the words, all he hears is the words,
not the meaning behind them. He does not hear the words with his heart. Goneril and Regan are
putting on an act, when they talk of their love for Lear and Lear thinks that they love him
because he likes the words they use. Unfortunately for Lear, they do not love him as much as
they claim to. When Cordelia hears their bragging she holds her words because she does not
want her true feelings compared to their lies. Lear however does not see the meaning of the
words that Goneril and Regan are putting forth and feels that they love him and Cordelia does
not. Kent, who can see what is actually going on, knows that Cordelia is the only one of the three
daughters that truly loves Lear. He tries to get Lear to understand this by saying, Answer my life
my judgment,Thy youngest daughter does not love thee least (I.i.153 154). Lear however can not

  • 4. Short Story Sequel To Pride And Prejudice A short story sequel to Pride and Prejudice Darcy and Elizabeth have been married for three years. Elizabeth felt extremely happy. It was not easy to manage such a big manor, but with innate intelligence and clever, she soon became prevalent with everyone though there were several servants expressing disdain for her origins in the first few months of marriage. Among the loveto the new hostess, Mrs. Reynolds loved Elizabeth the most. Mrs. Reynolds loved Darcy the same as loved her own child. When she saw Darcy altering the habit of travelling around and beginning to live in the home, her heart was saturated with gratitude for Elizabeth. Elizabeth enjoyed as hostess dignity and grace in Pemberley. On condition that she expressed a willingness of any things she loved, Mr. Darcy would do everything to gratify her. What s more, some of her wishes she does not show. Nevertheless, as long as Mr. Darcy was conscious of what she had in mind, he would make every effort to achieve the aspirations of his wife. Although they had been married for one year, he still loved his wife very much. In Mr. Darcy s heart, the meaning of happiness is together with Elizabeth. Because of Mr. Darcy s love and gratitude, Elizabeth argued that she should not just act as a competent female owner s duty as compassionate servants and farmers like her husband, more important was to take care of his sister Georgiana. Georgiana had no sisters, and her mother died when she was overwhelmingly small. She had always been exceedingly humble and timid at home. However, since her brother married, Georgiana had a pretty and clever sister in law. Elizabeth s words and deeds gradually have good effects on Georgiana, for that reason she slowly opened up mind. She loved the sister in law very much, and she treated Elizabeth like her own sister to love in less than a year together, but also Elizabeth took Georgiana like her own sister. All this, Mr. Darcy saw in the eyes. As a result, he loved his dear Elizabeth more and more. They loved each other very much. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy have always been so in love, but only on the premise of the biggest quarrel since three days ago. Elizabeth lay down on the bed of a large goose and looked at ... • 5. What Is Gilgamesh s Quest For Eternal Life The Epic of Gilgamesh s was written to teach that true immortality is acheived through everlasting works, not everlasting life. Gilgamesh, king of Uruk, came face to face with the inevitability of death when his friend Enkidu died: Hear me, great ones of Uruk, / I weep for Enkidu, my friend, / Bitterly moaning like a woman mourning / I weep for my brother (22). Gilgamesh was a mighty and powerful demigod who had never feared before this turning point in his life. Unable to accept this reality, Gilgamesh s fear of the unknown led him to embark on a quest for eternal life. Gilgamesh eventually realized the futility of conquering deathwhen he exclaimed, O Urshanabi, was it for this that I toiled with my hands, is it for this I have wrung ... • 6. Fast Food And Obesity FOOD MATTERS: RESEARCH Obesity in children increases the more hours they watch television. Children s exposure to TV ads for unhealthy food products (i.e., high calorie, low nutrient snacks, fast foods and sweetened drinks) are a significant risk factor for obesity. In very young children, research has found that for every one hour increase in TV viewing per day, there are higher intakes of sugar sweetened beverages, fast food, red and processed meat, and overall calories (48.7 kcal/day). Excess weight can be gained by the addition of only 150 calories a day. Other research has found that children who watch more than three hours of television a day are 50 per cent more likely to be obese than children who watch fewer than two hours. Food and beverage advertising targeted at children influences their product preferences, requests and diet. The food and beverage industry has resolved to self regulate their marketing to children, but this has not resulted in significant improvement in the marketing of healthier food (i.e., fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low fat or non fat milk or dairy products, lean meats, poultry, fish and beans) to children. Almost three out of every four foods advertised to children falls into the unhealthy categories that contribute to the obesity epidemic. Food ads on television make up 50 percent of all the ad time on children s shows. These ads are almost completely dominated by unhealthy food products (34 percent for ... • 7. Church Camp Counseling Church Camp Counseling For community service I worked at Lake Lucerne Camp Wisconsin United Methodist Church for two weeks, one week of training and one week of assistant counseling. The first week of training consisted of all the adult councilors and everyone (high schoolers) who signed up for the Leaders In Training (LIT) Program. The LIT group was the only group there besides the church group Rizing Sun, a group of children from kindergarten to twelfth grade who all have one or more parents in incarceration. In the US, employees typically set aside a predetermined percentage of their earnings which is deposited to the plan and the employer will match that contribution. Ultimately, the amount of money available to the individual upon retirement is determined by the performance of their investments. Each employee retains the option to choose how to diversify their investments, while the employer will typically provide a default allocation option. CNN has launched two specialty news channels for the American market which would later close amid competitive pressure: the sports news channel CNNSI shut down in 2002, while business news channel CNNfn shut down after nine years on the air in December 2004. CNN also once had a partnership with Sports Illustrated through the sports website CNNSI.com, but sold the domain name in May 2015. • 10. Summary Of The Flies The Flies Part One: Sartre, Jean Paul. Part Two: The audience first meets Orestes while he is in town seeking direction to Aegisthus s house. Orestes attempts to get this information by knocking on a door in town but unfortunately the tenant of the house disregards him and closes the door on Orestes. Orestes continues through town when he expresses to his tutor that he believes that Zeus is following them. When Zeus finally approaches the two men the tutor asks Pray, whom have I am the honor of addressing? (Sartre, 51). Zeus replies Demetrious is my name, and I hail from Athens. (Sartre, 51). This is the first time that the audience gets any idea of where the name of the play may have come from. It is also the first time that Orestes and his tutor learn why there are suddenly so many flies in town. As the three men are walking through Argos they hear cries coming from the palace. Zeus explains to them that these cries are a sort of memoir. They people are remembering the death of their king Agamemnon, who was murdered fifteen years ago. Orestes then recalls that Agamemnon had a daughter name Electra, so he asks Zeus what her take on this whole ordeal is. Zeus then explains that Agamemnon also had a son named Orestes. The audience of the play quickly realizes that Orestes is undercover in his journey to reach Aegisthus. Orestes is able to enter the palace and finds out the reality of what is happening inside. • 11. The History Of Ethnography Movies are stupendous sources of entertainment, and have been since the nineteenth century. In the year eighteen eighty eight Thomas Edison, the wonderful inventor of the electric bulb and the phonograph decided to construct machines for producing and displaying moving photographs. With the assistance of W.L.K Dickson, Thomas began analyzing and altering the phonographto make rows of small pictures on similar cylinders. Any sound reproducing machine using records in the form of cylinders or discs is a phonograph. ( Dictionary.com) Mr. Edison travels to Paris in eighteen eighty nine to take a look at Eitenne Marey s camera, and it happened to use flexible film. All of these fantastic inventors have given people all around the world a chance to step into a new reality and take a break from the real world. • 12. The role of Jocasta in Oedipus the King is crucial.... The role of Jocasta in Oedipus the King is crucial. Jocasta sees the reality of the situation before Oedipus and the chorus do. The prophecies made themselves known long ago, and Jocasta believed that they would come true. Jocasta did have faith in the oracles, but only enough faith to suit her own purpose. She worked to suppress much of the faith Oedipushad in them, in the interest of keeping the city, herself, and Oedipus in a powerful yet strong position. Jocasta s role in the story influenced Oedipus to think back to Laius death and begin to try to solve the Sphinx s riddle. Jocasta explains that an oracle called for her husband s death to be at the hand of his own son. Seeing that thieves evidently killed the king, Oedipus as the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Running away gave Oedipus the ability to avoid the oracle. Oedipus avoiding his prophecy, and Jocasta and Laius avoiding theirs, enabled Jocasta to convinced herself that chance ruled their lives, not prophecies. In Oedipus the King, it seems as though chance is a motif. King Laius was said to be killed at three crossroads. When Oedipus ran from Corinth, he admitted to killing a man who caused conflict along the way. The chance this could be the same man is very slim; the two stories did not match up. Jocasta demands Oedipus tell her what he is thinking when he is trying to solve the kings murder. It crosses Oedipus mind that he could be the killer, however; guilt left him in strong defense when he tells Jocasta, I cannot be the killer. One can t equal many (Sophocles, 934). This foreshadowing shows a possible suspect, and Oedipus guilty conscience. The witnesses to the death recall multiple thieves being resent, and also that the murder took place at the three crossroads. The Greek goddess of the crossroads, Hecate, was said to have three heads. Each head looked down a different path one saw the past, one the present, and one the future. Though Hecate isn t mentioned in the play, perhaps the three way crossroads in Oedipus the King has a similar symbolism. (www.shmmoop.com). The Sunk Cost Fallacy can be described as the price or time you are paying for your investment. If a lot of time and effort have been dedicated to that certain job than it will always be much more difficult for the person to quit the fallacy. Ever since we were kids we have been told by our parents and teachers to never quit our goals and aspirations, but what if we aren t good at something and never will be? • 14. How Does Ring Sling Work Understanding the Ring Slings Summary: This article provides information about ring slings. What Are Ring Slings? A baby sling is a cloth that is used to help support a young child, so that the parent can wear them around, without having to hold them with their own hands. It is a part of the culture of baby wearing. Baby wearing is a practice that has been around for generations, and is the practice of carrying a child around using a sling or some type of long cloth secured to the parent s body. Ring slings have become increasingly popular with many parents today. Through two metal or nylon rings a cloth is woven and made into a pouch like apparatus. The cloth wraps around the carrier s body and is supported by one shoulder. The threaded cloth creates a buckle like effect that prevents the cloth from slipping. The baby is placed inside the little pouch either laying down or sitting up. Once the proper adjustments have been made, the child can easily be put in the sling as well as removed. In addition, parents are able to remove the sling with little hassle and put it back on just as quickly. Most parents find that it provides one of the safest baby wearing experiences available.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ring sling baby carrier works through a delicate balance of tension and friction that is needed to lock the metal rings into place. The baby s initial weight placed in the sling, adds tension to the fabric that translates up to the metal rings and causes enough friction to lock the rings; therefore, the sling is locked in place. There are many variations of the ring sling baby carriers. Ring slings were developed using rings in order to help promote sturdiness and adjustability. The variations of the ring sling are accredited to the many different ways that the sling can be utilized, such as the pouch style or the shoulder support style. Why Should You Consider a Ring ... Book Review Of Ishmael Beah Introduction The author of this book, Ishmael Beah was forced to become a child soldier at 12 years old due to the civil war occurring in his home country of Sierra Leone which first began in 1991. After Ishmael s home village of Mogbwemo was attacked by rebels he was separated from his family, forcing him to flee. Without a home or a family to take care of him, Ishmael then spent months wandering with a group of other boys who had been displaced by the war. While taking refuge in a village protected by the government army, Ishmael was forced to fight for the government against the rebels which ultimately ended up lasting for almost 3 years. Life changed for Ishmael in January 1996, when UNICEF aid workers took him and other child soldiers to a rehabilitation center in Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone. Although hesitant at first, Ishmael eventually began to trust the workers and took a special liking to Esther, a nurse who played an integral role in his rehabilitation. By September of 1996, Ishmael was rehabilitated and was speaking in front of the UN where he discussed the effects of war on children and shared his story. Returning to Sierra Leone, Ishmael stayed with his last living relative, uncle Tommy which is short lived as the rebels invade Freetown and shortly after uncle Tommy dies after contacting a fever. Fearing that if he stayed he would join the army, Ishmael fled to the neighbouring Guinea so he could get a flight to the United States where he would stay with Laura Simms, a story teller he met while at the UN and who would end up adopting him. Analysis There are two major structural conditions which ultimately led to Ishmael becoming a child soldier which are the nature of war and poverty. During times of war there is no escaping the violence and uncertainty that follows it. Ishmael is a prime example of this as the nature of war heavily contributed to him becoming a child soldier. This is first seen when Ishmael is attacked by villagers that feared he and his friends were rebel spies. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He came to realize that one must completely rely on the guide instead of other clients on a guided expedition. After meeting the other clients, Krakauer develops a sense of superiority as he is one of the most experienced climbers on the team. It shocked him when the author found out that clients Beck Weathers, Stuart Hutchinson, and Lou Kasischke never tried on their mountaineering boots beforehand and Hutchinson even failed to notice his crampons (steel spikes that are attached to the bottom of boots to help with ice climbing) did not fit his boots. As the expedition drags on, Krakauer became more acquainted with the rest of his team members and has a change in mindset. A computer has many parts that make up the hardware, and the software; enabling it to function correctly. One of the main components that a computer needs to work is a Central Processing Unit also known as the microprocessor. The central processing unitincludes all the computers main parts, and is the basic part of the computer. The CPU is responsible for executing out tasks, and running the software. The software runs on programs that are translated into number codes made up of 1s and 0s that the central processing unit can understand. Each code that is executed means a certain operation should take place. A CPU serves for four functions; Fetch, Decode, Execute, and write back these functions are the four primary ones. Other functions that follow are the Arithmetic and logic unit, as well as the Memory access. In the first step of dealing with a CPU the fetch function is up first. The fetch function involves retrieving information that it needs to run from the program memory, and basically giving it instructions which is put in by a number of a whole line of them from the memory. Wherever the memory may be is determined by the (PC) which is also known as the program counter. The PC stores a number that can keep track of the current place in the program. • 21. Summary Of To My Dear And Loving Husband By Anne Bradstreet The life of a Puritan woman, from a modern perspective, was a very simple one. They cleaned, cooked, sewed, mothered, and tended to the husband. There weren t many other options for a woman in those times and that society. It was either be a wife/mother, nun, or a fallen woman. Anne Bradstreet chose to be a wife/mother, and unintentionally, the earliest US poet. The themes of her poems are romantic; however because of her status as a Puritan woman, even in her own personal writings, she was restrained to her time. As a wife, she was considered an official lady, the moral compass that Puritan society looked up to: because of this she was limited to what erotic activities she could perform with her husband. Knowing this, her writings were probably expected to reflect her status and reflect the time in which she lived, and they do, to an extent. Although Bradstreet never thought that her poems would be published or seen by the public she still wrote them in such a way that they couldn t be considered/taken as blatantly sexual or immoral, in a type of code for instance. One such poem that demonstrates this type of code is, To My Dear and Loving Husband. Romance during those times and in Puritan society wasn t exactly how we view romance nowadays. To the Puritans marriage was secondary love; their First love was to God which for them was true love. The main reason behind the act of sex was to procreate, rather than being for pleasure. This was especially true with regard to businesses that had originated or had ties to the country, which had been divided into 15 separate republics then. One of the organizations that suffered dearly with the fall of the Soviet Unionwas the startup aviation company known as Baltia Air Lines. With communism gone, and a rush to put democracy in place, Russia s economy and the everyday life of its inhabitants were falling apart. In a time where many countries were experiencing growth, Russia s GDP began to suffer. For Baltia Air Lines, this was a huge setback. • 24. External Forces Of Darkness In Shakespeare s Play By... External forces of darkness Darkness is always associated with evil and to a certain extent deception. In our society, darkness tends to be the primary characteristic of evil. It is also associated with the supernatural, something Shakespeare uses a lot in his plays. William Shakespeareemploys the imagery of darkness throughout his tragedyplays, although to different extents. He uses dark images often to describe the horrors and the evils the characters portray, and these intensified internal tragic flaws are typically the result of their own doom. Noticeably Shakespeare Likes to use supernatural effects to create eerie and unsettling feelings amongst the audience and or readers. The forces of darkness of Shakespeare s tragic protagonists come from the idea that the characters themselves are the reason these bad things happen to them, because they cannot control their internal tragic flaws which overall in the end turns into evil. This however makes the characters so fascinating to watch. The external forces of darkness are an aspect of these four tragedies that do play an important role in the plays. The understanding I got from this connection was that instead of blaming their weaknesses on themselves the protagonists blamed forces of darkness for their own issues. Although this evilness was there it wasn t the root cause of the characters going out of control. It showed me that people are always going to find any way to take the blame off themselves and put it on others because it is one of the best coping mechanism. The fall of the characters are triggered by external darkness. External darkness comes within a character from evil forces. And it seems the protagonists blame their own internal flaws on this external evil. The characters are driven by this darkness to create devastation inside the play. For example, Hamlet s death is the end of an external wickedness which follows him throughout the plays. And like the death of King Lear s beloved daughter Cordelia we see that force of darkness become overwhelming. Macbeths external force of darkness ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. The Power Of Language The Power of Language Language is often defined as a system of communication, a way for humans to interact with one another. Language itself can hold a great amount of power. It can express one s emotion, show love or hate, and could give meaning. For example an object has no identification unless the power of language is wielded to provide it a name based on its ability and function. Language often has a great influence on culture and religion. This is shown greatly in the cultures of the Hebrews and the Greeks which are known for their famous texts Genesis and The Metamorphoses , two pieces of literature that explains the creation of man from different ways of belief. The book of Genesis from the Hebrew Bible is used in the practice of Judaism and Christianity and is the most well known text of this culture. It is also believed to be the very first book written in the Bible. The Metamorphosis is a story taken from what is called Greek Mythology , where multiple Gods are believed to exist and each of them holding power over different things. Both texts use the power of language in different ways to express emotion and bring things to life. Normally, words are used in language as communication, and a way to describe objects. Objects usually appear before words. Things are usually seen first, then they are named, described, and given a meaning. However that does not seem to be the case in the Book of Genesis. People started question how the would work out in the sufficient way but the problem was that different states would consider different things. For example, In Virginia you were considered black if you had 1/16 of black in you. While in Florida it was 1/8 but Alabama considered you black if you had any black in you. In other words people could walk across a state line and change race. Therefore, people question what is the main criteria for being American . The film states that you would have to gain full rewards of american citizenship to be considered white and it had to be decided through a judge. This leads to a large amount of flaws. For instance, in 1915 Leo Frank, a jew in atlanta was pulled from jail and hung for killing a white girl. People started to question what was white and if a Jew could be considered a white man. People who were seen as non american were seen as the enemy. They strip them of their civil liberties and put them in internment camps. This start becoming a problem because what becomes our country if most people are getting kicked out and killed. The problem was that there was no exact way to calculate if you were ... • 35. Dr Malcolm Clemens Young Summary Why do you believe that the Reverend Dr. Malcolm Clemens Young is addressing Christians in his discussion about wealth inequality? Reverend Young addresses Christians about wealth inequality as he states that Jesus cared for the poor and consequently, followers of the faith have an obligation to do the same. What assumptions is he making about religious people? Dr. Young assumes that religious individuals, and more specifically Chrisitans, are seperate entities from the top 5% of wage earners. Moreover, the author implies that these extremely wealthy individuals are materialistic and devoid of the morals and values that are inherent in the less fortunate. Young states that it is the working poor (who)... contribute a great deal more to society than the highly paid people who merely move money around. I believe that when one has a strong set of ethical beliefs, they will care more about society s issues, including income inequality. We worked on some activities that could improve our teamwork. For example, we worked in a poster of team contracts which involve the team rules and the consequences if these rules are broken. In our team contracts we wrote the points that we think it is the most important, for instance: the team member must respect each other ideas and opinions. Everyone should improve their own skills. Harry Potter and the Philosopher s Stone Though plays have been a form of entertainment for thousands of years, the late 19th Century saw the invention of a new kind of medium; the motion picture.[1] Since then, comparisons between a film and the novel it was based upon have become mainstay. • 39. A Theology Of Leadership For Christ s Church Theology is an attempt to explain God and his relationship to our world and humanity, while leadership is the human endeavor or capacity to lead or guide others through an operation, activity, task, or even through life. To build a theology of leadership is to build on the interrelation between these two. In order to develop a true theology of leadership, thoughtful reflection on Biblical scripture and the leadership of those called by God must be examined. What I assert is that of all the models that we have examined that Servant Leadership is a theology of leadership for Christ centered pastoral leadership within Christ s church. Northouse defines leadership as a process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal. Leadership as it works through those in pastoral leadership in the church then is a process whereby an individual who has been influenced by the works of Christ as they have journeyed the path of faith and come to embrace and embody Christ and the gospel message within their own life then in acceptance of Christ s call upon their life goes out to influence, invite, and empower others to embrace and embody the gospel in their own lives. For the not yet established church it was Christ who was the original influencer of a ragtag group of disciples and followers who came to embrace and embody His gospel message and through which Christ would build His church. It lines out the specific government practices as well as the system of check and balances. It was first drafted July, 1787 after the first form of government, the articles of confederation, had proven very inefficient to a point where it became almost redundant to have them in place. After a large amount of debate the acting continental congress decide to completely revise the current system. The constitution was efficient and fair and it kept the parts of government in place while not giving too much power to one or more branches. After outlining that, the document begins to outline the basic civil liberties and rights that the average citizen receives. These are called the amendments. They are the foundation on what the freedom of America is built with. The amendments spell out the freedoms that Americans had, everything from the right of religious freedoms to the right to bear arms both of which are regularly debated subjects today. They made America what America was, the freest country in the world Each of the amendments had their own set of rights to protect. The first protects Religion and the right to practice it. That definition really does the word no justice because leadership can look like a great many things to different people, and there are equally as many ways to lead. One can lead through fear or respect, by word or by action. Introduction: My definition of leadershipand the leadership influences in my career. I have had numerous leaders that have influenced my career and leadership style to this point. The Chief on my first Patrol Boat was one of the biggest influences I have had in my career. I remember how he carried himself with confidence. He empowered his people. He had the personal power to inspire people to want to be better to not disappoint him. But at the same time was able to hold people accountable, and have you learn from the experience. I also had a cutter CO that illustrated for me all the qualities I promised myself I would never be. They did not treat their crew with respect. By their level of micromanagement, they demonstrated that they did not trust their crew. People just dreaded coming to work never knowing what the day was going to bring. Even as I strive to ensure I am never like that leader, there are times that I stop and find myself thinking along the same lines, and demonstrating some of the same weaknesses. • 55. Hyperbole Twelfth Night The play Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare conveys the way love occurs in different forms. Twelfth Night is set in the fictional coastal European town of Illyria. The story begins when Viola, finds herself on the coast of Illyria after a shipwreck. Viola disguises herself as Cesario and gains a position working for Duke Orsino, who is deeply in lovewith Olivia. Olivia refuses his love and falls in love with his messenger, Cesario. Orsino s and Olivia s love is selfish and persistent towards Olivia and Cesario respectively. Viola is in love with Orsino but cannot express it because she would have to break her disguise. After Antonio rescues Sebastian from the shipwreck, he falls in love with him, but must conceal his love the homosexual relationship would be unacceptable. These ideas are portrayed through use of hyperbole, soliloquy, dramatic irony, aside and parallel plots. The techniques prompt the viewer to apply the situation to their own life by extracting personal morals from the text. Selfish love is felt by both Orsino and Olivia for the majority of this script. Neither characters begin to consider that the one they love may not reciprocate the emotion and they continue to force their love in a place where it will not succeed. Duke Orsino believes that the love he feels for Olivia is stronger than any love ever felt before and states this when saying. He is vain to the extent that he believes that Olivia s heart only be fulfilled with These sovereign thrones, are all supplied, and filled/Her sweet perfections with one self king (I.i.37 38). Shakespeare uses hyperbole in Orsino s lines to display how extreme, dramatic and passionate his love is to the reader. Twelfth Nightbegins with Duke Orsino performing a soliloquy which uses hyperbole to portray to the audience his narcissistic and intense personality. Olivia possesses a similar emotion but towards Cesario. She has previously hinted her love to Cesario time and time again. When she openly confesses her love, Cesario states that no woman will hold his heart. Olivia expects that Cesario will convince himself to love her when saying, thou perhaps mayst move/That heart, which now abhors, to like his love (III.i.153 154). The technique mostly ... • 58. The Psych Of Serial Killer We as humans are born with the potential to create and accomplish some great and mighty things. For example some people decide to become lawyers, doctors, teachers, and even business owners. All of which will make them a great asset to society. On the other hand behavioral experts have noted that there exist extremely violent people in society who don t seem to be contributing anything positive. Such individuals seem to prey on the weak and innocent. The aim of this study is to attempt to understand just what makes a serial killerfunction and act on such a high level of aggression. Several theories will be observed and noted in an effort to properly analyze this issue of the psych of a serial killer. Hopefully the results will add behavioral experts in formulating strategies concerning prevention and intervention. Just what is violence? Violence is explained as hostile emotions or feelings being acted upon. Also it means to be severe, adamant and many times hazardous by using one s natural strength so as to create hurt or mistreatment (Webster, 2015,p.1). How many times have we seen or heard on the news of two individuals who engaged in an argument only to have it escalate to a full blown fist fight or end in a shooting death. My mother once told us of a story of a man named Leroy who had gotten into an argument with a male friend both men ended up slashing each other to death with a barber s razor. • 59. Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief Analysis Through films, poetry, and art, mythology has become synonymous with an alternate telling of historical events, or explaining events previously misunderstood by the general public. Although it may seem like simple fiction to most, mythology has become intertwined with the Greek culture, and is key in an overall understanding of how the world works. The book I have read is Percy Jackson The Olympians: The Lightning Thief. Through the eyes of Rick Riordan, a simple story of an ordinary student begins to unravel, and discusses several key figures and moments of ancient Greek culture, and therefore, mythological beings of grand power. Close to the beginning of the book, the main character, Percy Jackson, visits a museum and is asked to explain an event depicted in one of the picture. Afterwards, he is asked why knowledge of these mythological events would matter in reality (Riordan 5,6). This exact question is the central theme throughout the book, and is what I pondered throughout the story. Percy Jackson thinks he is a normal twelve years old student. Well, not normal because he has Dyslexia and ADHD. One day, after encountering a mythological creature, chasing after him for an unknown reason, he learns that he is not ordinary, after all. He is a son of an Olympian God, Poseidon, and his best friend, Grover, is not a boy, but a satyr in disguise. He does not have Dyslexia and ADHD, he just has the ability to read Ancient Greek, and act like a warrior. His mother kept ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout the play Shakespeare shows that sight does not just come from the eyes. It is shown through the characters of Lear, Gloucester and how they compare to each other. Lear s character is one that never learns what it means to see without ones eyes. Lear s sight is hazed because of his lack of ability to see inside of people, he can not tell who they really are. When Lear is angered by Cordelia, Kent tries to reason with Lear, who is too angry and upset to have an open mind. Lear responds to Kent s opposition with, Out of my sight!, to which Kent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lear s sight is also tainted by his lack of direction and by not being able to see the consequences of his actions. This, as well as his lack of insight into people, causes the fall out of his relationship with his daughter Cordelia. When Lear asks his daughters who loves him the most, he thinks this will be Cordelia. However when Cordelia says, I love your majesty/According to my bond, no more nor less (I.i.94 95), Lear can not see past the words, all he hears is the words, not the meaning behind them. He does not hear the words with his heart. Goneril and Regan are putting on an act, when they talk of their love for Lear and Lear thinks that they love him because he likes the words they use. Unfortunately for Lear, they do not love him as much as they claim to. When Cordelia hears their bragging she holds her words because she does not want her true feelings compared to their lies. Lear however does not see the meaning of the words that Goneril and Regan are putting forth and feels that they love him and Cordelia does not. Kent, who can see what is actually going on, knows that Cordelia is the only one of the three daughters that truly loves Lear. He tries to get Lear to understand this by saying, Answer my life my judgment,Thy youngest daughter does not love thee least (I.i.153 154).
