The Dream Of A Detroit Man Named Berry Gordy
Every year, tens of thousands of people come to Detroit, Michigan with hopes of getting a glimpse
of Hitsville U.S.A. Since 1985, the recording studio that once produced and made the dreams of
many famous singers a reality has been a popular tourist attraction, known as Motown Museum.
Motown Museum is open five days a week to local and international visitors. Visitors are given a
tour through Studio A, where they can stand in the same room in which their favorite Motownartist
stood. Additionally, visitors also tour the newly renovated upper flat that Berry Gordy and his
family lived in during the early part of the company s years. This beautiful place that appears to be
frozen in time and conveniently located in the exact same spot where it all began, started from the
dream of a Detroitman named Berry Gordy.
During the 1950s African Americans were plagued by discrimination and injustice. For example,
Sugrue (1996) states, housing was a well sought after necessity by new migrants, rapidly growing
postwar families, returning veterans, and people displaced by urban redevelopment and highway
projects.(p. 52) Essentially, all of these people were typically the ones who had limited if not
income at all. Additionally, once the housing market slowly began to open in the mid 50s,
advertising for available units discriminated against minorities by specifying the want for white
tenants only . (Origins, p. 53) However, through all of the discrimination and injustices, Motown

Essay Literary Luminaries and English Vocabulary
The intention of the paper is to exhibit a comprehensive reading of literary luminaries who
contributed to the stock of English vocabulary. English language has the most enriched
vocabulary of the world. It is famous for its derivative, assimilative, structural and flexible
features. English people have inquisitive mind and they add to their stock what they found
essential for them. So I shall show indebtedness of English language towards the great luminaries.
It has influence of foreign vocabulary. English language can be called a language of massive
efforts and it is a collage. It has got influenced and it has also influenced several languages.

Conquests are not only conquests of countries or cultures or races but also a great mixture of their
languages. The conquest of the Celts (1066) did the same thing. The result can be seen in the name
of places like Devonshire, Cornwall, Cumberland, and so more. English vocabulary is much
indebted to Latin. The introduction of Latin words into English vocabulary has taken place over a
considerable period. It was result of Britain s contact with Latin civilization.
A bundle of words were transmitted into English vocabulary with Christianizing of England in 597
A. D. Several words regarding religion came into English vocabulary like church, bishop, angle,
psalm, hymn, minister, canon, anthem, pope, canonization, monastery etc.
During the renaissance period a number of Latin, Greek and Italian words were directly loaned as
affidavit, agenda, alibi, exit, extra, memorandum, propaganda, deficit, veto etc. The terms
renaissance itself is a Greek word which mean in English rebirth, revival, and reawakening of
classical learning. In England during Elizabethan age there was a renaissance of learning which
enhanced English vocabulary.
The influence of French commenced during middle ages. Today we can perceive how numerous
French words have became pulp and seed of Modern English vocabulary. Several words regarding
religion, government, legal terms, medicine, military affairs

The Human Reproductive Cloning Debate
One of the most controversial areas in genetic engineering is human or reproductive cloning. The
topic has raised moral and ethical concerns among critics. According to the Gallup poll conducted
in 2014, only 13% of Americans believed cloning human beings is morally acceptable (May, 2016).
This shows a disapproval of such technology by the public.
Human reproductive cloning is the creation of an individual who has identical nuclear genetic
material (DNA) to an existing human being, and who is allowed to develop to term and beyond
(Bio Centre, n.d.). This science uses somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT). Dolly, the sheep, was the
first mammal cloned using this technology, and its possible utility for human cloning has been
argued ever ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When couples carry genetic risk, they might consider reproductive SCNT to avoid passing a
serious genetic disease on to their offspring (Daar et al., 2016). If the technology is abused, people
might try to create perfect human beings, as Hittler attempted.
Reproductive SCNT involves the production of a child through an asexual procedure, a
fundamental departure from natural or assisted conception (ex: IVFs) in which a child s genome is
unique from either parent (Daar et al., 2016). Some orthodox Christians believe that this method
destroys the link between a human relationship and the being of a child (Bio Centre, n.d.).
Reproductive cloning may harm children psychologically. Parents might harbor unfair expectations
on the child, and this can hinder the child s personal growth and undermine the child s interests in
forming a unique identity (Daar et al., 2016).
There are safety concerns regarding human cloning. Between 95 98% of mammalian cloning
experiments have resulted in miscarriages, still births, and life threatening abnormalities (Bio
Centre, n.d.). Similar abnormalities may occur in human reproductive

Journal Entry #2
David Sedaris s Remembering My Childhood on the Continent of
Africa Journal Response In the comparison and contrast essay, Remembering My Childhood on the
Continent of Africa, by David Sedaris, the author talks about the jealousy he feels towards the
excitement present in his friend Hugh s life. David Sedaris explores the contrast in the dullness of
his own childhood with the adventurous lifestyle of his friend s childhood. Using descriptions,
personal experiences of his friend and himself, and language, Sedaris explains why he takes
satisfaction in passing his friend s stories as though they were his own since the stories were more
interesting. The field trips, environment, and activities all contribute in the development of the
difference in lifestyle between them. The subject of Sedaris s comparison and contrast in this essay
is to show the aspects of both Hugh and the author s childhood, that would cause the author to feel
proud using his friend s stories as his own. For instance, the author states that, When I was young I
went to the theater at the nearby shopping center and watched a movie about a talking
Volkswagen... Like me, Hugh saw the movie by himself on a weekend afternoon. Unlike me, he
left the theater two hours later, to find a dead man hanging from a telephone pole at the far end of
the unpaved parking lot (Sedaris 182). The quote above indicates that the author is being naГЇve
and childish. No boy or child who is as young as he was should feel pleasure in seeing a dead
person. The thesis of this essay is as follows, Certain events are parallel, but compared with
Hugh s, my childhood was unspeakably dull. When I was seven years old, my family moved to
North Carolina. We had a collie and a house cat. When he was seven years old, Hugh s family
moved to the Congo. They had a monkey and two horses named Charlie and Satan. I threw stones
at stop signs. Hugh threw stones at crocodiles (Sedaris 181). This clearly informs the reader that the
author is envious of Hugh s childhood since his was extremely boring. Additionally, the thesis is
stated and not implied because the author openly asserts that, When I m told such stories,

Racial Discrimination In Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
In the story Of Mice and Men, symbolizes many things such as racial discrimination. Crooks has
a hard time fitting in with the crowd because of his race. And having hopes and dreams nearly
crushed by reality. He might represent the racial equality in the past where the President didn t
have a speech about treating others with respect. Because he wanted to describe the inequality
of races while keeping the subtlety. As said by Crooks, I can t play cards because I m black,
(Steinbeck 68). That might be the reason why he s extremely lonely amongst the rest. Crooks
has tried so much to make friends with people, He lost all of his trust. He s gotten his name from
his severed spine being kicked or getting hit on numerous times while caring for the stables as a
slave. Curley on the other hand is a egotistical one of a kind who likes to pick on people he
thinks are weak compared to his strengths. I wouldn t pick a fight with him, Because it s going to
get hot! Although he s the son of the ranch boss, That doesn t change anything at all. The author
s syntax is a unique way of writing because it gives off a pioneer and cowboy ish feel to the story
with it s complex grouping of words. It is effective towards the characters and/or the reader
because of how hard it is to speak in a certain way without messing it up. Though the people back
then could fluently enunciate without error, Our minds mentally fix it and we read it out loud

Goodyear uses three ammonia heat exchangers in its production process lines. The ammonia
cooling system supplies the heat exchangers with pressurized liquid ammonia. As the ammonia
absorbs heat from the process chemical flowing through tubes in the center of the heat exchanger,
the ammonia boils in the heat exchanger shell (Figure 2). A pressure control valvein the vapor
return line maintains ammonia pressure at 150 psig in the heat exchanger. Ammonia vapor returns
to the ammonia cooling system where it is pressurized and cooled, liquefying the ammonia.

The process chemicals exiting the heat exchanger flow to the process reactors. Each heat
exchanger is equipped with a rupture disk in series with a pressure relief valve (both set at 300 psig)
to protect the heat exchanger from excessive pressure. The relief system vented ammonia vapor
through the roof to the atmosphere.
Liquefied ammonia causes frostbite on contact. One cubic foot of liquid ammonia produces 850
cubic feet of vapor. Since ammonia vapor is lighter than air, it tends to rise. The vapor can also
remain close to the ground when it absorbs water vapor from air in high humidity conditions. The

Connectivity And Topology Of Wireless Networks
Connectivity and topology control: Some approaches tried to improve the system reliability by
carefully designing the connectivity or topology of wireless networks. Paper [50] addresses the
problem of fault tolerant deployment of wireless ad hoc networks. Based on the pre assumed
transmission range, the authors propose a scheme to calculate the probability that a given network
is k connected. Based on the intensive deployment, the redundant sensor nodes are used to cope the
random working nodes failure. Following the similar idea, a distributed algorithmis proposed in
[52]. By deploying calculated necessary number of extra nodes in the given network, the
objective of fault tolerant topology control can be achieved. However, due to the limited space
and cost constraint, adding redundant nodes to a deployed WSN may not always be an
acceptable solution. Another fault tolerant topology control algorithm is presented by Li and Hou
in [53], in which a spanning subgraph is computed by each node. If a pair of vertices is not k
connected, an extra edge will be added between these two vertices. The authors further prove that
the resultant global network is k connected. In [54], by considering the mobility of nodes, the
author shows the mobility resilient topology control protocols. The author classifies the topology
control protocols into two types. 1) In this case, the topology is built and maintained by each node
based on its own knowledge about its neighbors. According to its own

Introduction
In the spring of 1940 Europe was enveloped in war. The German military machine had already
conquered Poland, Denmark, and Norway. However, not content with northern and eastern
expansion, Adolf Hitler wanted to control the western countries in Europe. Hitler had long been
obsessed with attacking and controlling France. After their defeat in World War I
, the German
people, government, and military were humiliated by the enormous post war sanctions leveraged
against them from the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler wanted to defeat and humiliate the French people
in the same way that his country had to experience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The French knew what kind of war they expected to fight. They also expected, and wanted to fight
the Nazis in Belgium, not on French soil.3
This defensive strategy resulted in military commanders convincing politicians to construct
fortifications across France s borders. These 140 kilometers of fortifications built from 1930 1937
were known as the Maginot Line. While not a fully connected wall of fortifications, they varied in
strength and assets. The strongest, most heavily fortified area of the Maginot line stretched from
France s border with Switzerland and Germany. The Luxembourg and a very small portion of the
Belgium border had smaller, less concentrated defense array. The Maginot Line structures were
never intended to be similar to the Great Wall of China. The true purpose was to provide a
formidable defense and free up manpower to be used in offensive operations somewhere else.
Charles de Gaulle, a decorated and proven French military commander was against a defensive
mentality. He proposed potential war strategies against the Germans, and why the defensive
mentality should be abandoned. In a 1935 Parliament, the French War Minister struck blows
against de Gaulle s ideas by saying How could one think that we are still thinking about an
offensive when we have spent billions to establish a fortified barrier? Would we be mad enough to
advance beyond

Rydel wrapped her arms around Ell, dancing to the upbeat music. Her body flowed to the dance

Ryland was the DJ, I was shocked at his talent, it wasn t as easy as it appeared to be, but it looked
like a lot of fun. Although I shouldn t have been surprised, his whole family sweated talent. He
had invited about 20 people, strangers to be, and maybe even to them. Both Riker and Ross were

Head injury is defined as any shock to the head received in the skull, whatever its violence. Head
injuries are very common. But those severe (brain damage) are rare and represent the first cause of
death among 15 25 year olds. Head injuries are classified into 3 groups (low, moderate, severe) and
require a different medical care.

Mt Alverni The Most Viable Target Market
In celebration of Mount Alvernia s 60th Anniversary, the Mount Alvernia Parents and Friends
Support Network intend to host a function. Functions are advantageous to the local economy as
they generate visitor spending, thus more income and employment possibilities (Department of
State and Regional Development, 2014). Furthermore, events provide a platform for social
interaction, which would ultimately strengthen the MountAlvernia community. In addition, an
anniversary celebration is an opportunity to market the school as successful and sustainable
(Fossler, 2001). Therefore, the function would benefit the college.

Tuite s plans for the future of the college. The second objective is to break even; which can be
measured by the calculation of cost and profit. This objective ensures the college does not bear a
debt and honours the Franciscan value simplicity. The third objective is o acknowledge the initial
ten students and three teaching sisters, as they were unfortunately unrecognised t the previous 50th
anniversary celebrations. A featured Roll Call ensures the third objective will be attained.
Furthermore, goal four is to increase attendance. Hence, the P F recommend the inclusion of a
registry for it allows us to compare the attendance of the 60th anniversary celebration to that of the
50th event. As a final point, objective five is to eliminate neighbourhood disturbance. This can be
measured by complaints from locals concerning the event.
The Mount Alvernia Parents and Friends Support Network has conducted a survey regarding the
scope of the event. It is important the survey feedback dictates the planning of the event to
maximise attendance. Therefore, the survey was sent to 43 members of the target market.
A garden party was voted the ideal event by 56% of surveyed students. The garden party fits the
purpose of the function as the Missionary Franciscan Sisters traditionally held afternoon tea in the
gardens following Mass (Mount Alvernia College, 2016). Furthermore, La Forresta was voted

The Influence Of Photography On American Culture

photographic compound. Later, in 1800, Thomas Wedgewood made what he called sun pictures
by placing objects on a piece of leather treated with silver nitrate, which were the first
photographs, although they faded and deteriorated if exposed to much light. In 1816,
NicГ©phore NiГ©pce combined the photosensitive paper with the camera obscura, which after

The Article By Letting Clare
Amy Trauber introduces the article by letting Clare, one of the subjects in her research tell her
first hand account of her daily routine as a sustainable farmer in Central Pennsylvania, and the
challenges she faces in a male dominated work space. Clare says I get up early, eat breakfast and
start picking blueberries for market at six o clock. After picking for a couple of hours, I wash, sort
and package blueberries to sell at the farmer s market in town. After selling all day, I might work
a few hours at my off farm job since I am there. On my way home, I stop at the top of the
mountain and sell more blueberries out of the back of my car. I feed the lambs, horses, rabbit and
dogs. After dinner I supervise people who come to our house to pick blueberries until dark
(Trauger, 2004, p. 289).
The author proceeds to tell a story using Clare as the central character to introduce the overall
topic of her research. She describes Claire as the well known blueberry lady who is recognized for
the high quality produce that she and her husband grow on their sustainable farm, and she
highlights the fact that Claire readily identifies herself as a farmer, versus the more traditional role
of farmer s wife making a point that this is a very important distinction. She summarizes Claire s
argument that in a more productivist, or conventional model of agriculture she would not be
recognized as a farmer (Trauger, 2004), thus underlining how sustainable agricultureprovides a

A Leader Who Doesn t Have Knowledge Of The Best Person As...
Leadership is a term on which no one can reach a consensus as it carries a different meaning and
weightage for each individual. Some people may consider a person as their leader who is
capable of taking them away from hardships or caring for them, or some people may consider a
man steeped in wisdom and learning to be a leader. Difference notwithstanding, there still seems
to be some commonality in all the perspectives behind the definition, which is related to
choosing a best of the best person as their leader. The simple bottom line is that, nobody wants to
have a person as his leader who doesn t have knowledge of the needs and aspirations of his
people or who is not blessed with a certain temperament foe bearing hardships for his people, nor a
vision for where they should be or how they should grow and influence the world around them.
As the founder of tech startup, it is only natural for me to pick a leader who is a true
technological visionary. It was not enough to simply pick someone who created innovative
products, or created and ran a billion dollar company. For me it would have to be someone with
the vision to shape the future and world around him, a person who could see how his works would
directly impact the trajectory of the world and its impact on the human race at large. A true
visionary. Therefore, for the purpose of this assignment I have chosen to perform a study to Elon

Influencing A Decision For Encourage Change
Influencing a Decision to Encourage Change
Introduction
Leadership requires the ability to identify opportunities for improvement. But to bring these
opportunities to reality, leaders must have the skills of influence. Influence is a capacity of power,
it is the ability to make things happen (Bolman Gallos, 2011, p. 74). For as Bolman and Gallos
(2011) write without power, administrators can t lead because no one will follow and they can t get
anything done (P.73). These authors go on to identify that while position the power is a
foundational resource for leaders, but successful leadership comes from using ones influencing
through many forms of power such as having information, expertise, control of resources,
personal skills, relationships, allies, the capacity to reward, and many others (Bolman Gallos,
2011, p. 74). The key though to successfully leadership and influencing change is to be able to sit
back and look at the situation at hand with a greater prospective, analyzing to identify the key
stakeholders and their power with in the situation, their points of buy in and potential resistance.
Taking time to identifying these points, a leader can prevent many of the pitfalls that slow change
and build resistance. For as Hechanova and Cementina Olpoc (2013) identify academic leadership
requires using referent and relational power as their main basis for influence due to the fact that
these are often peer leaders, or leaders that have risen from the

Normal Blood Glucose Level
Normal blood glucose level is around 90mg/100ml[11]. This level can be imbalanced in excess or
a deficit, but in a normal functioning body, the levels will return back to normal quickly by
influence of the pancreas. The pancreas contains alpha and beta cells that are responsible for
secreting glucagon and insulin, respectively[11]. Of interest to the pathophysiology of diabetes, is
the role insulin plays in the regulation of blood glucose. When glucose levels in the blood are
elevated, insulin is secreted from the pancreas and is circulated throughout the blood stream.
Insulin lowers blood glucose by enhancing transportation of glucose across cell membranes,
especially muscle and fat cells[11]. Also, insulin is responsible for inhibiting the breakdown of
glycogen to glucose as well as the conversion of amino acids and fats into glucose to help lower
blood glucose levels[11]. At the cellular level, insulin activates its receptor, which starts the
cascade eventually leading to increased glucose uptake. In type II diabetes, insulin is hypoactive,
and does not engage in its normal role with blood glucose regulation. This is different from type I,
where insulin is not even secreted by the pancreas. When insulin is not functioning properly, blood

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the largest and most visited museum around the
world; it exhibits a lot of magnificent artworks from artists throughout the worldwide and
history. The painting Red School House (Country Scene) is one of the best examples. It was
painted in 1858 by a great American artist, George Henry Durrie (1820 1863). The medium of
this painting are oil and canvas. This painting was based in New Haven, Connecticut. The size
of this work is approximately 26 x 36 in. George Henry Durrie was born in New Haven in 1820. He
remained in this city almost for his entire life except he briefly worked at a studio in New York.
Durrie immersed himself in the quiet pursuits of family and church (National Gallery of Art,... Show

The artist used vertical perspective, overlapping, diminishing size, and atmospheric perspective to
achieve the perceptual style. The vertical perspective means that the foreground is at the bottom of
the painting, and middle ground is in the middle, and the background is on the top. In this
painting, the carriage is the closest to the audience, so it is located on the bottom. The mountain is
the farthest, so it is on the top. Meanwhile, the artist made objects overlap with each other to
creates an illusion of near and far. The trees on the left side of this painting overlaps with the
houses in the back. Thus, the audiences can feel that the trees are nearer than house. At the same
time, when the tree overlaps with the houses, which also create an illusion to the audiences that the
trees are in the front of the house. The author also used diminishing size to illustrate the distant
between the objects on this work and the observer. Diminishing size means that objects come
smaller as they go farther away. In the painting, the horses are much bigger than the kids. It does
not mean that the horses are literally much bigger but means that the horses are closer to the
audience. Atmospheric perspective means that the objects in the foreground is clear and crisp, and
the things in the background is less clarity, and become hazy. In this painting, the color is vibrant
in the foreground, and the color becomes bluish gray in the background. The mountain looks
vague, and the horses and the houses are really clear. The artist used all those methods to create the
illusion of space and depth and used space and depth to create

The Quiet American Imperialism Essay
The Quiet American: Imperialism The Quiet American is a novel written by British writer
Graham Greene that was published in 1955. The story is set in Saigon near the end of the Indo
China War and it portrays a significant romantic triangle and its struggles between three main
characters. The triangle is formed by Thomas Fowler (British reporter), his Vietnamese girlfriend
Phuong, and Alden Pyle who is the suggested Quiet American as we know from the title. But we
later find out that the American is not so quiet after all. Once he arrives to Vietnam is when this
triangle is formed and the tensions begin to rise. Throughout this story I believe that Fowler and
Pyle viewed Phuong (Vietnam) as an entity. Vietnam was an outlet for sexual pleasures

Vietnam as well as the situation amongst Pyle and Phuong. He doesn t want to take any sides

Don Pablo Escobar Thesis
Imagine being hated and loved by so many people, running from police, killing people that got in
your way, and taking control of your hometown; that s exactly what Don Pablo or Pablo Escobar
did. He was a drug lord who, at his height of his career, smuggled more than eighty percent of the
cocaine into America. Escobar was born December 1, 1949 in Rionegro, Colombia. Although he
was born into a lower class family, he would grow to become on of the riches men in the world
during his time, according to Forbes. Young Escobar would get his start in the streets by stealing
tombstones and would take them back to his house and sandblast the names off them, once he did

He ordered the assassination of presidential candidates and was even rumored to be behind the
1985 attack on the Supreme Court, carried out by the 19th of April insurrectionist movement in
which several Supreme Court Justices were killed (Pablo Escobar Biography). This easily
shows how he is a villain because he went against the government which he is a part of. Even
though he has been against the government and lashing back at the government pretty much his
whole life but this is the biggest thing he has done to go against them. Although it isn t one
hundred percent sure that he exactly did this, it wouldn t be a surprise because he was a ruthless
person and knew that he could easily get away with this. Just like the other bombing and the
killings he has done. The bombings made him even more of a villain because he would go that
far to bomb something. He does what he has to do, but when it comes to bombing and killing
several of the Supreme Court, that might be a little too far. But it did show the power that he had
and shows how much of a villain. He can almost compare him to V from V for Vendetta. V would
go around killing people and bombing important government buildings to get his point across.
Maybe even to show his power, minus the smuggling of drugs across borders of course. But they
both wanted to show how they were villains and would both end the same way:dead. Because they

Fundamental Principles of Duct System or Air Distribution...
CHAPTER 3 METHODOLOGY This project work is gives the fundamental principles of duct
system or air distribution system design for multi story building. There are mainly three type of
duct sizing method namely equal friction method, modified friction method (static regain
method) and velocity reduction method. In present day the use of manual duct calculator is
normal and computer aided duct design is becoming more popular. Also to learn the friction
chart is very important to use this manual duct calculator because these are the foundation of the
other method. This will provide the necessary knowledge to duct design error and overcome to

Political Parties And The Democratic Party
When looking at the history of US political parties, and classifying these parties into distinct party
systems, five separate periods emerge leading up to the current party system. When classifying
these party systems, it is important to look at characteristics such as the number of major parties,
how these parties seek to gain support, and how the parties organize themselves. The earliest
American parties were relatively centralized organizations that represented elite level concerns.
They formed mainly at the national level, with low levels of grassroots connections. The first
national party to come to prominence was the Federalist Party, who were opposed by the
Democratic Republican Party. The main cleavage that divided these parties was the degree to
which the federal government should be centralize power. With the Federalist Party arguing for a
stronger role and the Democratic Republican Partysupporting greater rights for the states. Both the
modern day Democrats and Republicans are the result of a fracturing of the Democratic
Republican Party. Internal conflict caused by the expansion of the country and the issue of slavery
caused the party to split and form the Democrats and with the remaining faction joining with the
Whig Party to Oppose the Democrats. Further division on slavery caused the Whigs to also
fracture, giving rise to the Republican Party, who arose as the anti slavery faction of the party.

The Rwandan Genocide And Ethnic Conflict
INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
1.0Introduction
The Rwandan genocide has been a topic of discussion and study by many scholars, researchers and
humanitarian bodies seeking to find the root cause of its happening. Some found out that
deterioration in the political climate was the possible cause. Others argued that the Hutu elite were
only safeguarding their political power from the Tutsis who had, under the colonial rule, oppressed
the Hutus. The genocide was seen to be the best platform for settling scores between the two ethnic
groups.
The purpose of the study is to find out whether the Rwandan genocide was as a result of ethnic
hostilities or other underlying reasons while focusing on its impact on the country s economic,
social, cultural as well as political spheres. It will also seek to fill the gap of knowledge on what
could be done to reduce the occurrence of such conflicts.
The African governments play a critical role in ensuring that policies are put in place to promote
cohesion among the different ethnic groups that constitute the nation. The role might not have been
well played hence the occurrence of the Rwanda genocide which was a massive blow on the
African country. Ethnic difference might occur but how the leaders deal with them paves way for
either peace of conflict. Leaders are the starting point, form the remarks they make during political
rallies to their postings on social media.
The international humanitarian bodies have a role to play in peacekeeping,

Creationism vs. Evolutionism in Public Schools
Debate: Creationism vs. Evolution in Schools: 1st Affirmative Constructive Speech
Creationism and Evolutionism by definition are very different topics. Currently, evolutionary
naturalism is the most widely taught view of origins in America. In schools in the modern day, only
evolutionism is taught and condoned. But before the 1920s, only creationism was taught, and
evolution was forbidden. Then, on February 20, 2008, the Florida State Board of Education voted to
revise the public school guidelines to require teachers to teach only Evolutionism. The law was
passed with a very narrow 4 to 3 vote in favor of the law. Our resolution (affirmative side) is to

An additional chink in the system is that the theory of evolution has many gaps that need to be
filled by something like the theory of creation. While evolution may be the dominating theory in
Florida school boards, it does not provide some answers to several areas that Creationism may
actually answer, such as how the first organism, Earth, or the entire Universe came to be. On the
other hand, Creationism has equally as many holes that can be filled by the Evolutionary Theory
such as how all the species of the earth became what they are now. Creationism and Evolutionism
are not that different. In 1969, when American astronauts first stood on the moon, they read from
the bible. Men of science and technology, reading from the Book of Genesis. This is an example of
how an individual can believe in evolution and other scientific theories and still have faith.
Our plan to resolve these harms is this: the state of Florida should teach Creationism and
Evolution side by side. Each theory would be taught sequentially and would have its own chapter
of discussion. Teaching both, side by side, in the same class would provide a fair and equal
opportunity of religion, education and choice. It would give the youth an opportunity to learn and
expand their

The Causes Of Happiness And Happiness
Money. It can determine a lot of things for people; social ranking, how others think of you, and
even happiness. Many people think that when you have money you also have happiness. Yes
that can be true, but just how true is it? Money can be the cause of happiness and also sadness,
needless to say money have a huge impact on every single person. Everyone wants money I
think it s safe to say, everyone wants to feel stable. Yes its great to have money; you can do more
things, travel more, and make family and friends happy with gifts you could buy them. But after
all the toys and material things are gone can you say that you re happy, or that something s missing
still? When you go out to a fancy restaurant what do you remember most, the people you take or
the meal you just consumed? Research shows experiences provide more happinessthan material
goods in part, because experiences are more likely to make us feel connected to others (Mandi
Woodruff 5 Reasons Why Money Isn t Making You Happy ). People make connections that last
with their personality, not their money. This has the same concept as growing up in a wealthy
family. Some kids grow up never really having a relationship with their parents because all they
wantto do is work to make more money. People crave the love and attention from someone more
than they want money. We as humans like to feel secure in a lot of different aspects in our lives,
and if we aren t being loved, that could be the worst of it all. Money

is like a light to Emily s heart. She does not mind about Homer s origin, as long as she has a man
whom can live with her. However, it is not easy to own a man in this period. Abbott states that
widowed women in their 30s faced stiff competition for available men in their age group and
suffered constant reminders of their grim odds (Abbott). This fact explains Emily s action of
poisoning her lover, Homer. She wants to keep him beside her forever. Killing Homer is the only
way, she can get him away from all other women and do not lose him. Due to the effect of war on
men, Emily is trying to fight over her destiny to own a man for herself, but she seems to go too far

Workaholics
INTRODUCTION
Why did I choose to write about workaholics? The main reason is that the general picture about
these people is bad, but there are a lot of them around us and very often we admire them. They are
doing exactly what they love В– work В– and they can never have enough of it. Although they
spend most of their time working, surprisingly they are happy. They show so good results in what
they do. But the consequences are great. Family life is disrupted, intellectual horizons narrow and
the consequences to the workaholic s health are severe: fat, lack of exercise and stress. Why do

When somebody has a day off because he is sick, a workaholic would say that he is magnifying
the problem just not to work. They show little interest and great intolerance for the personal
lives of the co workers. They might say, How s the family? but they will not pay attention to the
answer. They don t show any personal interest about their co workers except if it s something
related to their needs or demands. Marilyn Machlowitz in her Workaholics book tells us about
one case like this. The secretary after five years at work decided that she wants to change her
glasses, and use lens instead. When at work, her workaholic boss noticed that she doesn t have
the glasses and said How are you going to type for me without your glasses? . Workaholics work
according to their and only to their schedules, and get really neurotic when they can not work by
their schedule because of other people [usually because the others didn t do what they were
expected by the workaholic].
HOW DO WORKAHOLICS ACT HOME?
It s not easy to say how workaholics act home, as they don t spend much time in their homes. Often
they are just physically home, while they think of being at work. Lots of them have dictaphones to
record the ideas they come up with while they are at home and thinking about their jobs.

this moments while with their children to revise their work. For example

Maybe, due to decay, the eye sight of the zombie has decreased significantly along with its other

Microfinance Institutions Sustainability
MFI sustainability: The role of subsidies and grants
Microfinance institutions (MFI) have created intense debates in an industry of traditional banking.
Being primarily focused on mission of poverty reduction through economic stimulation of low
income areas, MFI have sharpened the credit policy to specification of area of interests. The major
distinction is loan interest rate being notably higher in comparison to profit orientated financial
institutions (Rosenberg et al. 2009). The reason roots in excessive cost of funds and
administrative loses faced by growing industry. As noted in Cull et.al (2009), interest paid by
borrowers represents the struggle of MFI to overcome the burden of expenses and achieve
financial sustainability. The latter however, can be reached by altering the capital structure of
MFI through diversification of source of funding or rejection of capital which can lead to
malfunction. As soon as the changes are implemented, institutions can proceed to expansion
reaching increasing return to scale and beneficially affecting sustainability. This essay would
focus on the role on subsidies in performance of MFI. The rationale behind exploring this form of
noncommercial capital is that total amount of subsidized capital in MFI reached almost 16 billion
in 2009 (Bloomberg, 2012) posing a question regarding the alternative and probably more efficient
use of respective funds to support poor. The second reason derives from the number of researches

Mexico Gender Inequality
Gender inequality is the unequal treatment or perceptions of individuals based on their gender. It
arises from differences in socially constructed gender roles. Throughout the world there are men
and women who seek change in society s gender infrastructure, they seek equality and justice for
both genders. In some developing nations like the countries in the Middle East, China, and India,
women are still perceived as the inferior gender; they re forced to be obedient to the opposite sex,
their basic rights are restricted and they aren t treated fairly in most cases. However, in developing

Over the years, the education system in Mexico has improved, and more and more people are
becoming educated due to the easier access of schools. According to the 2015 UN Human
Development Report 99.0% of females aged 15 24 were literate between 2005 and 2013, slightly
above the 98.7% for males. Mexican girls had 13.2 expected years of schooling in 2014, above the
boys 12.9. The difference in numbers between male and female students begins to diversify itself
at the secondary level. At the high school level, (preparatoria) students may choose between a
curriculum oriented towards preparing them for higher education and a curriculum which is
oriented towards technical schools (Parker/Pederzini 7). Among these two options, women in
Mexico consider choosing technical school more favorable and popular since it can be taken at
the primary, secondary, and tertiary(university) level. Technical school is normally one to three
years and involves the training of skills for a particular occupation like electrician, mechanic,
craftsman, etc. In Mexico, it is reported that almost 15% of women have attended technical school
as opposed to 7.5% of

Executive Summary:
Blue Ridge Mill is a wood mill owned by Worldwide Paper Company and supplies wood pulp for
the company for use in paper production. Blue Ridge Mill bought its wood supply from
Shenandoah Mill s excess production of shortwood that was processed from its longwood
supplies. In 2006, Bob Prescott, the controller for Blue Ridge Mill, was considering a project that
would give Blue Ridge Mill the capability to process longwood into shortwood, which would

As a result, the cost of debt is 5.88% and is calculated as follows:
The cost of equity can be calculated by using the capital asset pricing model (CAPM). CAPM
requires that a market risk free rate, the market risk premium, and the beta for the company. The
market risk premium (6%) and the company beta (1.1) is given directly and can be seen in tables 2
and 3 below. Government bonds are used for the risk free rate. Since 10 year corporate bonds are
used for the cost of debt, the 10 year Treasury Bond of 5.60% will be selected as the risk free rate.
The 10 year bonds are also a good match for the project duration, which is between 5 and 10 years.
The cost of equity of 11.20% is than calculated as follows:
With the cost of debt and the cost of equity calculated, the WACC is calculated below. The cost of
debt is further discounted by one minus the tax rate since the interest paid on debt is treated as an
expense prior to being taxed.
Table 2: Interest Rates December 2006
Table 3: Company Financial Information
Using the calculated WACC and the company s hurdle rate for this project, under Bob Prescott s
cost savings and additional revenues assumption, the project s IRR is now greater than the hurdle
rate. Furthermore, the net present value (NPV), payback period and the additional value added to
the earnings per share (EPS) are shown in Table 4 below. Using just these figures, the project
should be accepted.

The Fall of Russia Essay
After the collapse of the Soviet Union there were many different problems facing the new Russian
government. Through the use of reforms many of these issues were cured but not overnight. Boris
Yeltsin and his Prime Minister Yegor Gaidar implemented several policies while the economy was
not moving well. Then Vladimir Putinwould carry on reforms while making new ones or changing
existing policies. How would these amendments affect the economy after the collapse of the
Communist regime?
In 1992, Yeltsin launched an economic reform program developed by Acting Prime Minister Yegor
Gaidar. The program also known as shock therapy brought fundamental changes in the economy.
There was little doubt that it was causing economic misery, and ... Show more content on

The temporary truce broke, however, broke down and Yeltsin declared emergency presidential rule;
more than half but less than two thirds the majority needed in the Supreme Soviet voted to impeach
Yeltsin. Yeltsin called together a constitutional convention to write a new constitution. He banned
eight political parties, fired several high ranking government officials who had failed to support
him, and suspended Russia s regional and town councils, many of which had sided with his
opponents (Kort 421). Therefore the Supreme Soviet had refused to support the new constitution,
Yeltsin then issued a decree dissolving both the Supreme Soviet and the Congress of People s
Deputies. Furthermore, neither system wanted to view or listen to Yeltsin and his new constitution.
They gathered in the parliamentary building, voted to dispose of Yeltsin. Then Yeltsin a few weeks
later had the Russian white house blasted with artillery.
Privatization
The government also launched a major program of privatization of state property. By 1994, the
voucher privatization program had completed its first phase, more than 70 percent of industry,
representing the workforce and production, had been privatized, although workers and managers
owned most of these enterprises, many of which have not still been restructured to compete in
market conditions. Under the program, every citizen of Russia would be issued

his room to get his companion out of the room. Additionally, a complete search of the room was

the top with a draw string. They opened the closed bag and found over two ounces of cocaine. As a
result, the court found that the above factors constituted the defendant s had a reasonable
expectation of privacy in the motel room for three reasons. First, a few days earlier, when the
defendant had stayed past check out time, instead of evicting him the hotel permitted him to extend
his stay and pay for the additional term of occupancy. Second, the manager testified that it was the
motel s policy to ask those guests staying past checkout time whether they would be leaving or

Elements Of Horror Stories
Hattie Sparks
Sharon A. Russell explains to readers how to decipher horror stories by saying, Some students
think that the best way to examine it is to deal with the way horror fiction is organized or
structured. Examining the organization of a horror story shows that it shared certain traits with
other types of fiction. . She says this in her article What is a Horror Story . Horror fiction needs to
be in a certain order, structured, and have specific horror traits. Some essential traits to horror
she later talks about, are supernatural elements, eerie settings, and suspense. When these
elements interact horror is created. The Monkey s Paw by W.W. Jacobs is a horror story
because, of the supernatural paw, the setting, and suspense of the story. One important element
of horror is a supernatural trait, which The Monkey s Paw does indeed have. The main
supernatural trait would be the paw itself. The history of the paw is stated, by Sergeant Major
Morris, to have had a spell placed on it by a fakir. Sergeant Morris, also told the readers how all
the previous six wishes were answered. Multiple wishes answered using the same process, could
not be coincidence. Another reason that this story fits into the supernatural trait is how Mr. White
describes his experience using the paw. He states, it twisted in my hand like a snake (pg 110). Only
something supernatural would do this. Lastly, it is not simply a coincidence that when Mr. White
wishes for 200 pounds, that it

Summary Of Long Term Memory In Mrs. Dalloway
Humans possess the feature of long term memory, which enables their past experiences to
continuously affect their contemporary lives. Though long term memory is a significant
component in the development of an individual s identity, many times this factor prevents one
from discovering opportunities to modify one s present and future lives. One s long term
memory can cause a person to revisit and enhance false emotions about one s past to ultimately
lose sense of reality. In Mrs. Dalloway, Peter Walsh and Clarissa Dalloway reflect upon their
younger selves; however, they both result in different outlets to combat these thoughts. Peter
keeps a pocket knife with him in case his past with Clarissa confronts him though he chooses to
see Clarissa. As Peter physically comes back into Clarissa s life, she is determined to change her
feelings that her long term memory provokes in her especially concerning Peter. However, Rezia
and Septimus take a different approach to dealing with their long term memories, as Rezia wants to
rekindle her pre war relationship with Septimus, which is unsuccessful. Virginia Woolfuses the
motifs of cutting and sewing simultaneously to illustrate that to find contentment in one s current
life, one must cut off one s past to be able to progress forward into a new life.
Peter plays with his pocket knife whenever he is with Clarissa to symbolize the unexplainable
emotions Peter experiences with Clarissa and his desire to remove these tensions by

Essay about Social Media s Affect on Mixed Martial Arts
Introduction
In this research proposal, we aim to discuss the role social media has on the growth of Mixed
Martial Arts. This study was chosen because there is no getting around the fact that social media
has changed the way we communicate and interact. The biggest change is the sheer number of
people using social media websites and the interaction with each other.
The genre of MMA was chosen because it is a relatively new sport, but despite that, it has been
gaining grave amounts of publicity in the sporting world. Unlike other long established,
mainstream sports such as soccer and basketball, the sport of MMA only commenced
approximately 20 years ago, back in 1993. The power of social media has revolutionised the way

Although its negativity has simmered slightly throughout the years, it has not entirely been gone.
With that said, I believe recent advancement of web 2.0 and social media has a huge part to play
in the rapid development of MMA. In this research proposal, we aim to understand the different
arguments and opinions of this topic. Some ideas may be biased, but they stand firm to what they
believe in.
Research topic and field
The main research in the literature review will be broken down into two different fields, social
media and MMA. For social media, we will look into the various aspects of social media. Topics
such as social media marketing, advertising and how it integrates perfectly within a business
organization will be covered. We will also be covering the social media aspect of public relations
and how it helps organisations communicate with its public. As for MMA, we will understand
and study the history of MMA and how the sport has used social media to improve the
development of the sport. In the literature review, I would first start by giving a brief history of
MMA, how it all started, and subsequently go into the discourse of social media; the marketing and
advertising aspect, and how it has help the growth of MMA.

The Important Role Of Canessa s Suicide In The Andes...
Canessa began a continuous dialogue with God ... You can make it tough, God, he prayed, but don

mountain, and they were essential to the survival of the men. The Catholic faith, along with prayer,
can lead a person to do marvelous things. The survivors of the crash in the Andes Mountains were
extraordinary examples of this. All of the young men had grown up in Catholic families, and they
had received a Catholic education. Because of their strong faith, their relationship with Godbecame
a crucial part of their decision making and survival on the mountain. Prayer would reassure them
that God was with them and guiding them every day. When the group decided to eat the dead, their

When on the expedition, Canessa and Parrado found faith essential to their journey. Those back on
the mountain also needed prayer to get through the endless nights and painful days. Without God
the men would have found no reason to stay alive. Faith and trust in God played an enormous role
in the decision making of the survivors. The young men on the mountain never left God out of an
important decision regarding the good of the group. From a young age, the men had learned the
Catholic faith. Their families raised them to be Catholic, and they all attended Catholic school. At
home, their faith was very important to them, and it became even more essential to them on the
mountain. They could not make an important decision without first deciding if it coincided with
their beliefs. The most prevalent example of this is when they were deciding if they should eat the
dead. Roberto Canessa made the argument that it was their moral obligation to stay alive. Their life

While enrolled in Existence and Reality, a course offered at Allan Hancock College, I was

what is life, what is death, is there a God, is there life after death, why is there so much evil and

there is a God, but when talking about the concept of life, I found myself questioning what my

After sustaining a knee injury that required for surgical intervention while in high school, I
struggled with recurring ailments throughout my intercollegiate career. It was not until my father,
who is an Osteopathic physician, was performing manipulation on me did we begin to diagnose the
potential causes. The issue was muscle imbalance and limited flexibility in certain areas of my body
that was shifting majority of my weight onto my knees while performing certain movements. This
went unnoticed by physicians because while performing examinations the scope was concentrated
on the immediate areas around my knee. With the knowledge I obtained through manipulation I
have been able to treat my knee ailments by strengthening and lengthening muscles throughout my
body. Having this experience helped solidify that if I am to be the physician I aspire to be, it is
imperative to be trained in this form of medicine.
Professionalism and the ability to gain respect in the community in which you live is of utmost

  • 2. The Dream Of A Detroit Man Named Berry Gordy Every year, tens of thousands of people come to Detroit, Michigan with hopes of getting a glimpse of Hitsville U.S.A. Since 1985, the recording studio that once produced and made the dreams of many famous singers a reality has been a popular tourist attraction, known as Motown Museum. Motown Museum is open five days a week to local and international visitors. Visitors are given a tour through Studio A, where they can stand in the same room in which their favorite Motownartist stood. Additionally, visitors also tour the newly renovated upper flat that Berry Gordy and his family lived in during the early part of the company s years. This beautiful place that appears to be frozen in time and conveniently located in the exact same spot where it all began, started from the dream of a Detroitman named Berry Gordy. During the 1950s African Americans were plagued by discrimination and injustice. For example, Sugrue (1996) states, housing was a well sought after necessity by new migrants, rapidly growing postwar families, returning veterans, and people displaced by urban redevelopment and highway projects.(p. 52) Essentially, all of these people were typically the ones who had limited if not income at all. Additionally, once the housing market slowly began to open in the mid 50s, advertising for available units discriminated against minorities by specifying the want for white tenants only . • 3. Essay Literary Luminaries and English Vocabulary The intention of the paper is to exhibit a comprehensive reading of literary luminaries who contributed to the stock of English vocabulary. English language has the most enriched vocabulary of the world. It is famous for its derivative, assimilative, structural and flexible features. English people have inquisitive mind and they add to their stock what they found essential for them. So I shall show indebtedness of English language towards the great luminaries. It has influence of foreign vocabulary. English language can be called a language of massive efforts and it is a collage. It has got influenced and it has also influenced several languages. Conquests are not only conquests of countries or cultures or races but also a great mixture of their languages. The conquest of the Celts (1066) did the same thing. The result can be seen in the name of places like Devonshire, Cornwall, Cumberland, and so more. English vocabulary is much indebted to Latin. The introduction of Latin words into English vocabulary has taken place over a considerable period. It was result of Britain s contact with Latin civilization. A bundle of words were transmitted into English vocabulary with Christianizing of England in 597 A. D. Several words regarding religion came into English vocabulary like church, bishop, angle, psalm, hymn, minister, canon, anthem, pope, canonization, monastery etc. During the renaissance period a number of Latin, Greek and Italian words were directly loaned as affidavit, agenda, alibi, exit, extra, memorandum, propaganda, deficit, veto etc. The terms renaissance itself is a Greek word which mean in English rebirth, revival, and reawakening of classical learning. In England during Elizabethan age there was a renaissance of learning which enhanced English vocabulary. The influence of French commenced during middle ages. Today we can perceive how numerous French words have became pulp and seed of Modern English vocabulary. Several words regarding religion, government, legal terms, medicine, military affairs ... • 4. The Human Reproductive Cloning Debate One of the most controversial areas in genetic engineering is human or reproductive cloning. The topic has raised moral and ethical concerns among critics. According to the Gallup poll conducted in 2014, only 13% of Americans believed cloning human beings is morally acceptable (May, 2016). This shows a disapproval of such technology by the public. Human reproductive cloning is the creation of an individual who has identical nuclear genetic material (DNA) to an existing human being, and who is allowed to develop to term and beyond (Bio Centre, n.d.). This science uses somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT). Dolly, the sheep, was the first mammal cloned using this technology, and its possible utility for human cloning has been argued ever ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When couples carry genetic risk, they might consider reproductive SCNT to avoid passing a serious genetic disease on to their offspring (Daar et al., 2016). If the technology is abused, people might try to create perfect human beings, as Hittler attempted. Reproductive SCNT involves the production of a child through an asexual procedure, a fundamental departure from natural or assisted conception (ex: IVFs) in which a child s genome is unique from either parent (Daar et al., 2016). Some orthodox Christians believe that this method destroys the link between a human relationship and the being of a child (Bio Centre, n.d.). Reproductive cloning may harm children psychologically. Parents might harbor unfair expectations on the child, and this can hinder the child s personal growth and undermine the child s interests in forming a unique identity (Daar et al., 2016). There are safety concerns regarding human cloning. Between 95 98% of mammalian cloning experiments have resulted in miscarriages, still births, and life threatening abnormalities (Bio Centre, n.d.). Similar abnormalities may occur in human reproductive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Summary Of Remembering My Childhood On The Continent Of... Patrice Tseh E1o1 Professor Jones 10/11/2017 Journal Entry #2 David Sedaris s Remembering My Childhood on the Continent of Africa Journal Response In the comparison and contrast essay, Remembering My Childhood on the Continent of Africa, by David Sedaris, the author talks about the jealousy he feels towards the excitement present in his friend Hugh s life. David Sedaris explores the contrast in the dullness of his own childhood with the adventurous lifestyle of his friend s childhood. Using descriptions, personal experiences of his friend and himself, and language, Sedaris explains why he takes satisfaction in passing his friend s stories as though they were his own since the stories were more interesting. The field trips, environment, and activities all contribute in the development of the difference in lifestyle between them. The subject of Sedaris s comparison and contrast in this essay is to show the aspects of both Hugh and the author s childhood, that would cause the author to feel proud using his friend s stories as his own. For instance, the author states that, When I was young I went to the theater at the nearby shopping center and watched a movie about a talking Volkswagen... Like me, Hugh saw the movie by himself on a weekend afternoon. Unlike me, he left the theater two hours later, to find a dead man hanging from a telephone pole at the far end of the unpaved parking lot (Sedaris 182). The quote above indicates that the author is being naГЇve and childish. No boy or child who is as young as he was should feel pleasure in seeing a dead person. The thesis of this essay is as follows, Certain events are parallel, but compared with Hugh s, my childhood was unspeakably dull. When I was seven years old, my family moved to North Carolina. We had a collie and a house cat. When he was seven years old, Hugh s family moved to the Congo. They had a monkey and two horses named Charlie and Satan. I threw stones at stop signs. Hugh threw stones at crocodiles (Sedaris 181). This clearly informs the reader that the author is envious of Hugh s childhood since his was extremely boring. Additionally, the thesis is stated and not implied because the author openly asserts that, When I m told such stories, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Racial Discrimination In Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men In the story Of Mice and Men, symbolizes many things such as racial discrimination. Crooks has a hard time fitting in with the crowd because of his race. And having hopes and dreams nearly crushed by reality. He might represent the racial equality in the past where the President didn t have a speech about treating others with respect. Because he wanted to describe the inequality of races while keeping the subtlety. As said by Crooks, I can t play cards because I m black, (Steinbeck 68). That might be the reason why he s extremely lonely amongst the rest. Crooks has tried so much to make friends with people, He lost all of his trust. He s gotten his name from his severed spine being kicked or getting hit on numerous times while caring for the stables as a slave. Curley on the other hand is a egotistical one of a kind who likes to pick on people he thinks are weak compared to his strengths. I wouldn t pick a fight with him, Because it s going to get hot! Although he s the son of the ranch boss, That doesn t change anything at all. The author s syntax is a unique way of writing because it gives off a pioneer and cowboy ish feel to the story with it s complex grouping of words. It is effective towards the characters and/or the reader because of how hard it is to speak in a certain way without messing it up. Though the people back then could fluently enunciate without error, Our minds mentally fix it and we read it out loud based on how we see it visually. It s supposed to ... The ammonia cooling system supplies the heat exchangers with pressurized liquid ammonia. As the ammonia absorbs heat from the process chemical flowing through tubes in the center of the heat exchanger, the ammonia boils in the heat exchanger shell (Figure 2). • 9. Connectivity And Topology Of Wireless Networks Connectivity and topology control: Some approaches tried to improve the system reliability by carefully designing the connectivity or topology of wireless networks. Paper [50] addresses the problem of fault tolerant deployment of wireless ad hoc networks. Based on the pre assumed transmission range, the authors propose a scheme to calculate the probability that a given network is k connected. Based on the intensive deployment, the redundant sensor nodes are used to cope the random working nodes failure. Following the similar idea, a distributed algorithmis proposed in [52]. By deploying calculated necessary number of extra nodes in the given network, the objective of fault tolerant topology control can be achieved. However, due to the limited space and cost constraint, adding redundant nodes to a deployed WSN may not always be an acceptable solution. Another fault tolerant topology control algorithm is presented by Li and Hou in [53], in which a spanning subgraph is computed by each node. If a pair of vertices is not k connected, an extra edge will be added between these two vertices. The authors further prove that the resultant global network is k connected. In [54], by considering the mobility of nodes, the author shows the mobility resilient topology control protocols. The author classifies the topology control protocols into two types. 1) In this case, the topology is built and maintained by each node based on its own knowledge about its neighbors. The German military machine had already conquered Poland, Denmark, and Norway. However, not content with northern and eastern expansion, Adolf Hitler wanted to control the western countries in Europe. Hitler had long been obsessed with attacking and controlling France. After their defeat in World War I , the German people, government, and military were humiliated by the enormous post war sanctions leveraged against them from the Treaty of Versailles. The French knew what kind of war they expected to fight. They also expected, and wanted to fight the Nazis in Belgium, not on French soil.3 This defensive strategy resulted in military commanders convincing politicians to construct fortifications across France s borders. These 140 kilometers of fortifications built from 1930 1937 were known as the Maginot Line. While not a fully connected wall of fortifications, they varied in strength and assets. The strongest, most heavily fortified area of the Maginot line stretched from France s border with Switzerland and Germany. The Luxembourg and a very small portion of the Belgium border had smaller, less concentrated defense array. The Maginot Line structures were never intended to be similar to the Great Wall of China. The true purpose was to provide a formidable defense and free up manpower to be used in offensive operations somewhere else. Charles de Gaulle, a decorated and proven French military commander was against a defensive mentality. He proposed potential war strategies against the Germans, and why the defensive mentality should be abandoned. In a 1935 Parliament, the French War Minister struck blows against de Gaulle s ideas by saying How could one think that we are still thinking about an offensive when we have spent billions to establish a fortified barrier? Later, in 1800, Thomas Wedgewood made what he called sun pictures by placing objects on a piece of leather treated with silver nitrate, which were the first photographs, although they faded and deteriorated if exposed to much light. In 1816, NicГ©phore NiГ©pce combined the photosensitive paper with the camera obscura, which after multiple tries and multiple years, created a permanent image on the paper. On my way home, I stop at the top of the mountain and sell more blueberries out of the back of my car. I feed the lambs, horses, rabbit and dogs. After dinner I supervise people who come to our house to pick blueberries until dark (Trauger, 2004, p. 289). The author proceeds to tell a story using Clare as the central character to introduce the overall topic of her research. She describes Claire as the well known blueberry lady who is recognized for the high quality produce that she and her husband grow on their sustainable farm, and she highlights the fact that Claire readily identifies herself as a farmer, versus the more traditional role of farmer s wife making a point that this is a very important distinction. She summarizes Claire s argument that in a more productivist, or conventional model of agriculture she would not be recognized as a farmer (Trauger, 2004), thus underlining how sustainable agricultureprovides a medium ... • 17. A Leader Who Doesn t Have Knowledge Of The Best Person As... Leadership is a term on which no one can reach a consensus as it carries a different meaning and weightage for each individual. Some people may consider a person as their leader who is capable of taking them away from hardships or caring for them, or some people may consider a man steeped in wisdom and learning to be a leader. Difference notwithstanding, there still seems to be some commonality in all the perspectives behind the definition, which is related to choosing a best of the best person as their leader. The simple bottom line is that, nobody wants to have a person as his leader who doesn t have knowledge of the needs and aspirations of his people or who is not blessed with a certain temperament foe bearing hardships for his people, nor a vision for where they should be or how they should grow and influence the world around them. As the founder of tech startup, it is only natural for me to pick a leader who is a true technological visionary. It was not enough to simply pick someone who created innovative products, or created and ran a billion dollar company. For me it would have to be someone with the vision to shape the future and world around him, a person who could see how his works would directly impact the trajectory of the world and its impact on the human race at large. • 18. Influencing A Decision For Encourage Change Influencing a Decision to Encourage Change Introduction Leadership requires the ability to identify opportunities for improvement. But to bring these opportunities to reality, leaders must have the skills of influence. Influence is a capacity of power, it is the ability to make things happen (Bolman Gallos, 2011, p. 74). For as Bolman and Gallos (2011) write without power, administrators can t lead because no one will follow and they can t get anything done (P.73). These authors go on to identify that while position the power is a foundational resource for leaders, but successful leadership comes from using ones influencing through many forms of power such as having information, expertise, control of resources, personal skills, relationships, allies, the capacity to reward, and many others (Bolman Gallos, 2011, p. 74). The key though to successfully leadership and influencing change is to be able to sit back and look at the situation at hand with a greater prospective, analyzing to identify the key stakeholders and their power with in the situation, their points of buy in and potential resistance. Taking time to identifying these points, a leader can prevent many of the pitfalls that slow change and build resistance. This level can be imbalanced in excess or a deficit, but in a normal functioning body, the levels will return back to normal quickly by influence of the pancreas. The pancreas contains alpha and beta cells that are responsible for secreting glucagon and insulin, respectively[11]. Of interest to the pathophysiology of diabetes, is the role insulin plays in the regulation of blood glucose. When glucose levels in the blood are elevated, insulin is secreted from the pancreas and is circulated throughout the blood stream. Insulin lowers blood glucose by enhancing transportation of glucose across cell membranes, especially muscle and fat cells[11]. Also, insulin is responsible for inhibiting the breakdown of glycogen to glucose as well as the conversion of amino acids and fats into glucose to help lower blood glucose levels[11]. At the cellular level, insulin activates its receptor, which starts the cascade eventually leading to increased glucose uptake. In type II diabetes, insulin is hypoactive, and does not engage in its normal role with blood glucose regulation. This is different from type I, where insulin is not even secreted by the pancreas. Political Parties And The Democratic Party When looking at the history of US political parties, and classifying these parties into distinct party systems, five separate periods emerge leading up to the current party system. When classifying these party systems, it is important to look at characteristics such as the number of major parties, how these parties seek to gain support, and how the parties organize themselves. The earliest American parties were relatively centralized organizations that represented elite level concerns. They formed mainly at the national level, with low levels of grassroots connections. The first national party to come to prominence was the Federalist Party, who were opposed by the Democratic Republican Party. The main cleavage that divided these parties was the degree to which the federal government should be centralize power. With the Federalist Party arguing for a stronger role and the Democratic Republican Partysupporting greater rights for the states. Both the modern day Democrats and Republicans are the result of a fracturing of the Democratic Republican Party. Internal conflict caused by the expansion of the country and the issue of slavery caused the party to split and form the Democrats and with the remaining faction joining with the Whig Party to Oppose the Democrats. The Rwandan Genocide And Ethnic Conflict INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND 1.0Introduction The Rwandan genocide has been a topic of discussion and study by many scholars, researchers and humanitarian bodies seeking to find the root cause of its happening. Some found out that deterioration in the political climate was the possible cause. Others argued that the Hutu elite were only safeguarding their political power from the Tutsis who had, under the colonial rule, oppressed the Hutus. The genocide was seen to be the best platform for settling scores between the two ethnic groups. The purpose of the study is to find out whether the Rwandan genocide was as a result of ethnic hostilities or other underlying reasons while focusing on its impact on the country s economic, social, cultural as well as political spheres. It will also seek to fill the gap of knowledge on what could be done to reduce the occurrence of such conflicts. On the other hand, Creationism has equally as many holes that can be filled by the Evolutionary Theory such as how all the species of the earth became what they are now. Russell explains to readers how to decipher horror stories by saying, Some students think that the best way to examine it is to deal with the way horror fiction is organized or structured. Examining the organization of a horror story shows that it shared certain traits with other types of fiction. . She says this in her article What is a Horror Story . Horror fiction needs to be in a certain order, structured, and have specific horror traits. Some essential traits to horror she later talks about, are supernatural elements, eerie settings, and suspense. When these elements interact horror is created. The Monkey s Paw by W.W. Jacobs is a horror story because, of the supernatural paw, the setting, and suspense of the story. One important element of horror is a supernatural trait, which The Monkey s Paw does indeed have. The main supernatural trait would be the paw itself. The history of the paw is stated, by Sergeant Major Morris, to have had a spell placed on it by a fakir. Sergeant Morris, also told the readers how all the previous six wishes were answered. Multiple wishes answered using the same process, could not be coincidence. Another reason that this story fits into the supernatural trait is how Mr. White describes his experience using the paw. He states, it twisted in my hand like a snake (pg 110).
