Plaintiff, Dobbie Brown, a minor child, has brought a cause of action with his parents, Michael
and Tina Brown against our client, defendant, Lawrence Vincent Smith for statutory liability
under Florida s dog bite statute. On October 31, 2009, around 9:30 p.m., Plaintiff, along with
seven other children came running up to our client s property to trick or treat. Plaintiff ran to the
glass window where owner s dog Beast was. Plaintiff began to pound on the window yelling,
Trick or Treat!! while Beast barked, ran back and forth and jumped around. Our client answered
the door a few minutes after he went to retrieve his hot biscuits from the oven. When our client
answered the door, the kids were screaming Trick or Treat at the top of their lungs. Plaintiff was
dressed up in a cat costume. When our client opened the door, and handed Plaintiff a biscuit,
Beast sprang up from the door and bit off Plaintiff s finger. Our client quickly restrained Beast,
wrapped up Plaintiff s hand along with the severed finger and took Plaintiff to the hospital where
doctors were able to successfully reattach the severed finger. Our client had purchased Beast about
eight months before the incident. The Beast is an eight to ten pound Yorkie who has bitten our
client s niece on a prior occasion, although the bite was minor. The Beast has been around children

3. The Battle Of The Cold War
Dear John, It wasn t my fault, it was too late for him and there was nothing anyone could do to
help him. It happened in the early hours of the morning, the sun slowly stretching and awakening
from its own peaceful slumber but couldn t get its bright rays past the army of clouds that stood
guard over the land. Our broken bodies leaning against the trench wall, our soggy backs slowly
sinking into the disgusting, dark and dingy mud. The sound of the raindrops smacking the floor
of our trench and the smothered, repetitive blasts of a Vickers machine gun constantly invaded
our ears. The murky sky cried with despair as the rain gradually began to hit the ground as hard as
bullets connecting with bone. Crippled bullet shells soared overhead with so much acceleration,
they camouflaged within the stormy scenery. I recall the power of the silence that would submerge
us all once the commotion beyond the trench would cease, I felt I was tangled and drowning
within its forceful and mighty waves. My heart pummeled the inside of my chest with built up
momentum, my pulse was as repetitive as the constant firing of a machine gun. I remember
scuttling to my abscessed, aching, drenched feet. Panic stricken as I blindly stepped through the
mud and slush of the recent weather, forcefully shoving the darkness away all while inhaling the
atrocious stench of trench foot and mangled decomposing carcasses lost beneath the mud and
fallen debris. I can remember being all too aware of my lungs, my

Historical Perspectives of Abnormal Psychology
For many years, various forms of madness have been noted in every culture. Multitudes of
theories, as well as some myths, have been developed to explain such conditions. Society s opinion
on what was considered abnormal was based on such phenomenon as paranormal forces, the anger
of the gods, the influence of the moon, unstable personality, hereditary factors, and debauchery
(Frude, 1998). History shows that theorists continue to develop a variety of theories to explain
psychological disorders. These theories usually fall in one of three basic categories: mystical

Scientific advances in mental illness were virtually nonexistent during the Middle Ages. Spiritual
causes ruled, and those with psychological disorders were classified as morally weak, or were
accused of forbidden practices, such as those associated with witchery, sorcery, and the devil
(Damour Hansell, 2005). Witch hunts were more common at the height of the 14th and 15th
centuries in Europe, accusing many of the mentally ill of practicing witchcraft. Various attempts
were made over the years to encourage just treatment of the mentally ill, and various voices of
reason attempted to eliminate the stigma of abnormal behavior.
Emil Kraepelin began using scientific methods to classify mental disorders by concentrating on the
biological characteristics of mental disorders (Frude, 1998). Kraepelin s approach resulted in a
closer alliance between psychiatry and medicine, believing that a chemical imbalance was to blame
for schizophrenia and that a metabolism abnormality caused manic depression (Frude, 1998).
Numerous core concepts in psychology have influenced explanations of abnormal behavior. Models
for explaining abnormal behavior throughout history (historical relativism), and the principle of
stressing the assimilation of different perspectives (multiple causality) have helped differentiate
between predisposing and precipitating causes of abnormal behavior. The connection between mind
and body has become the most modern model, signifying that both biological

6. Indigenous People In Latin America
The last thirty years in Latin America has been marked by the struggle of the indigenous peoples
from the Andes to the Amazon, Indigenous people have emerged as important political actors
calling attention to the exclusions that continue to mark the democracies in which they live. Since
the 1980s, indigenous peoples have demanded their right to political participation, pressuring nation
states to broaden their understandings of the democracy. They ve demanded self determination and
the freedom to make their own decisions about their forms of government and lands. Used classic
tools of citizenship, media, non violent protests like Boliviaand more and more using ballot box.

of strutualr inewuality that theyre still fighting tot overcome. Over the following centuries, the
benficiraires of the system, the Latin American elite, continue to exploit indigenous peoples but
through very different measures, different menas, legal systems that have made inequality seem
natural. Since the colonial era, Indians have been resisting oppression through outright rebellion
as in the age of insurrection 1791 when huge armies of Andean natives led by Tupac Amaru from
Peru and Tupac Katari from Bolivia almost overcoame the Spanish in Peru and Bolivia. In

Despite what is commonly assumed, specific African traditions and beliefs were not merely
transferred from the continent to the Americas. Rather, African American communities took on
African customs and incorporated them into their own distinct worldview, and these new African
American customs were even transferred back to the Continent. The Atlantic served as a
passageway that did moved more than human bodies, but also the traditions that those bodies

Lowcountry as well as through anthropological findings on the way material objects were

11. A Rationale of the Outline Scheme of Work for Key Stage 3
A rationale of the outline scheme of work for Key Stage 3
Planning is a key part of teaching. Without a coherent plan lessons may lack structure and direction.
Long and medium term planning are an important part of this and in this rationale I hope to
demonstrate that my planning does indeed have all of these qualities.
The first element to be considered when rationalising this scheme of work is whether or not it
meets the needs of Key Stage 3 pupils. I believe that it does because the attainment focus is all
within Key Stage 3. However, this is only the very simplest level by which we can measure this
criterion. Firstly, we can also measure it by matching the scheme of work to the programme of
study. If we look at this we can see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So for example, in the topic about the good life pupils will study Buddhist monks and nuns. In
this way I think the scheme of work as greater coherence and pupils will be able to see clear
reasons for study topics.
At this point I think it would be a good idea to return to some of the philosophy behind the
scheme of work. Mainly it is thematic in approach. This is where religions are sub divided into
categories and taught like this. For example, festivals, or Holy Books may be used as themes to
teach across the religions. One strength of the thematic approach is that it points to similarities
between religions and I think that this is where most value in RE comes from. However, these
similarities are often far too superficial and can even be slightly arbitrary . For example, some
schools may teach spring festivals when the similarities between these festivals are not the time
of year at which they are held but something far more consequential. If this approach could move
past this problem it would be far more useful. Of course, we must remember that, once again this
is only how the approach is used rather than the approach itself that causes the problem. I have
tried to avoid this problem in my scheme of work by choosing topics that point to deeper
similarities such as the idea of duty or the good life. Another problem that I have tried to avoid is
confusing pupils with lots of

12. Hayden Symphony 94 Analysis
The piece that I have decide to use is the Hayden Symphony 94. I will be using all four
movements to identify which criteria has been met by this piece. The Haydn Symphony 94 follows
a form that works for it with each of the four movements have an expressive section then a
rhythmic section. Also, during the second movement which is a theme and variation he repeated
both themes but the second time he would use a drastic dynamic change. (Criterion #1) Within
movement 2 Haydn uses dynamic contrast frequently. The first 15 measures of the piece are a
succession of soft melodies then in the 16th measure Haydn places a loud note to grab the attention
of the audience then he returns to his quiets melodies. Haydn also wrote solos for the oboist and
flautist, and concluding with a sweeping and lyrical forte repeat in triplets (Symphonyno.... Show

(Criterion #2) Movement 2 shows that Haydn use the different instruments families to add different
colors to each section of the piece. He starts this movement with the strings having the main theme
then adding the woodwinds to the main theme and to the accompanying parts. At certain parts of
the movement he has all instruments playing some form of the main theme. We can also here that
the main theme has moved from the high voices to the low voices throughout the movement. By
the end of the movement the we have the woodwinds completely taking over the melody while the
stings are playing the accompanying parts. (Criterion #3) Within the second movement of the
symphony there is this one loud note or chord among a group of soft chords. Once the audience has
heard this once or twice they come to predict the note because the previous nots grabbed our
attention. (Criterion #4) The expressive introduction section of movement 1 is followed by the very
rhythmic section. This shows that the music is not obvious and direct but it does set up the
following movements form wise. (Criterion

In one corner we have a nation, fed up with the corruption and constant bullying of their big
brother nation, seeking the approval of the world for a revolution. In the other corner we have a
nation, bent on gaining the equality among all individuals in their state, coming together to lay
down the law to their king. Both America and France had a thirst for a new equal nation and
government in which power was given to the people and not to a tyrannical figure. Individuals
from both of these countries sat down and wrote up a letter of declaration in demand of the
freedom that they so rightfully deserved. Both of them won that freedom, as the Declaration of

The first and most prominent argument I have with these two documents is there method in
itself. Both declarations gave direct and justified reasons for a revolution, but the Declaration of
Independence seemed to have taken a passive role. It argued that King George and the British
were wronging them and that America was at their last straw. America was being oppressed and
grew tired of it. The Declaration stated that the British were infringing on their God given rights
as humans, imposing taxes without consent, denying fair trials, as well as many other grievances
that attacked the American colonies. Therefore, with their back against the wall they had to
separate themselves from the British and establish their own government or live their lives in
fear forever. In contrast, The French s Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen took
on a more active role. The French people, also known as the National Assembly, banded together
and came up with a list of seventeen laws that they felt gave power to the people over those of
nobility. They felt that the king and the noble s lack of concern or ignorance of the rights of man
was the cause of such a corrupted government, and that gave them a justified reason for revolt. The
Declaration of the Rights of Man shows more comparison to America s Constitution or Bill of
Rights than to the Declaration of Independence. It stated the rights they were warranted and an
obligation for the government to

14. Gender Inequality And Womens And Empowerment
In world history, gender inequality and women s and empowerment have been an ongoing battle
of victories and setbacks, especially for women. Women are disproportionately affected by
gender inequality; they are often looked at with pity or a need to be protected from the outside
world. This desire to protect women has evolved into a culture of restriction, when it comes to
what women can and cannot do in their day to day lives. The Middle East is especially
susceptible to devaluing women in society. The states that operate within this grouping are
dominated by patriarchal societies that raise men and their standards above those of women. In
Iran women have a difficult time making a name for themselves and are often left feeling very
helpless and alone. Sometimes women have to fight just to be heard and are often silenced by the
government in an attempt to level the playing field between the sexes. Ironically, in Bahrain the
government appears to be in favor of women and establishing them as equals with their male
counterparts. Yet, once inside of the country, it does not take long to realize this is not necessarily
the case. It goes to show that just having laws in place that protect women is not enough to make a
society shift their sexist views towards women in general. It takes an entire state changing their
personal views in order to bring about large change in the area of genderequality and women s
empowerment. This battle takes not just women standing up for

15. Why Was The Visit From Commodore Perry A Turning Point In...
1. Why was the visit from Commodore Perry a turning point in Japanese history? Before 1853,
Japan remained in isolation from the other Western powers, but the arrival of Commodore
Matthew C. Perry influenced Japan to expand their trade. With the American fleet of warships
led by Perry, it intimidated Japan to open their foreign interests in hope of arising trading
opportunities from both sides. In a way, the U.S. military superiority spurred the Japanese to
agree to the Treaty of Kanagawa. This treaty allowed the return of American sailors, allowed
U.S. residence, and opened two ports in Japan. This indicated that Perry s visit marked a turning
point in Japan s history; in addition, Japan continued to negotiate treaties with U.S. and other
countries for opening their ports for trade and residence. 2. How was Japan s experience after
1854 similar to China? Japan s experiences after 1854 were very similar to those of China s. For
instance, China and Japan served as important foreign interests to the Western powers. The reason
why the Western powers were so interested in those two countries was due to the increasing rivalry
and economic interests. As a result of foreign interaction by force or intimidation, Japan and China
faced challenges such as adapting to an industrial and technological advanced society of the West.

16. Justinian Influence On Julius Caesar
In Roman history, there are many names known to the masses, Caesar, Augustus, Mark Antony.
But there is another name that people ought to know he is arguably one of the greatest Roman
emperors to ever live and his name was Justinian. Justinian was born Flavius Petrus Sabbatius a
peasant from western Rome. To understand how a peasant like young Flavius went from peasant
to emperor it is imperative to take a look at his uncle, Justin. Justin as a young man moved to
Rome and joined the army and joined the palace guard eventually being appointed the head of the
palace guard and bringing his family to Rome. After the emperor died Justin bribed the Senate to
support his bid for emperor and because he was head of the palace guard that meant that he was
the only one with the support of the Senate and with troops in Rome. Under Justin, Justinian played

Africa with a fleet of 100,000 men and had been totally destroyed. Now Belisarius would have to

through a combination of luck and carefully calculated revolts Belisarius and his force were able
to slip through and make a beachhead and from there they took back most of their previous
holdings in the area coming as liberators, not conquerors. For his actions, Belisarius was given a
triumph an honor that had not been given to a non royal in 400 years. Sadly this would be the last
ever triumph for the Romans. After celebrating their victories Justinian sent bel off to Italy to

Examples: Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan, Bill Gates, and other celebrities, athletes, and business

Nevertheless, in (1865) slavery was outlawed after the Civil War, but some believe it was
replaced by another prejudicial system a caste system based on race. Though whites could no
longer own slaves, they still considered themselves to be superior to people of African descent.
They insisted on separate recreational, educational, and other facilities for themselves and their
families and even prevented intermarriage between people of different races. Before this time, one
s race was a strong indicator of destiny, and some would say that there is still a racial caste system

18. How The Profit Can Be Increase By Judged The Average...
Introduction:
The main reason for this survey is to analyse how the profit can be increase by judged the
average number of floor spaces or sales staff employed in a large retail chain. By observing the
averages that have been calculated in the Excel Spread Sheet for takings, floor spaces and staff
number. it can be possible to deduct which department needs further development and how it can be
developed.
Using a simplistic mathematical scheme to serve in making the right decision, it will be explained
how to grow the profit with neither more nor less information than what was provided in the dataset.
Conclusion: An average number typically suggests the mean value in a data set; however, in this
analyse has been used two different types of averages which are: the mean and median. As the
mean is considered to be the one giving the most accurate information about the average number
of takings since it s about adding up all the numbers form the data set and divided them by the
total while the median represents only the value that stands in the middle of the data set; in that
way resulting a common mistake such as: leaving one of the averages aside and not analysing the
accurate information from the data set. However, there are no evidences to prove that both
numbers are correct, as both are considered to be types of averages in statistics. On the column
chart provided below representing the average takings for All Outlets, it can be seen a massive

Sexual Deprivation Increases Ethanol Intake in Drosophila
G. Shohat Ophir, K. R. Kaun, R. Azanchi, U. Heberlein
There is scientific consensus today that addiction is a chronic disease that changes both brain
structure and function, as abnormal functioning of the brain s reward system (the nucleus
accumbens) has been associated with addictive behavior, originating either from a psychoactive
drug, a monetary reward, a sexual encounter, or a satisfying meal. Drosophila melanogaster, a fruit
fly was used in these experiments to further explain attraction for alcohol containing foods, and the
effect of social experiences on behavior.
The researchers used two different sexual experiences to generate two cohorts of male flies. The
first cohort, rejected isolated, was subjected to courtship conditioning; they experienced 1 hour
sessions of sexual rejection by mated females, three times a day, for 4 days. Such conditioning
suppresses future male courtship behavior, even toward receptive virgin females. The second
cohort of mated grouped flies experienced 6 hour sessions of mating with multiple receptive virgin
females at a ratio of 1:5 for 4 days. Flies from each cohort were then tested in a two choice
preference assay, in which they deliberately choose to consume food with or without 15% ethanol
supplementation.
There was a significant difference between the 2 cohorts of drosophila in different respects such as
exposure to the social experience

20. Beowulf Is A Hero
Have you ever thought about what a hero means to you? To me, a hero is someone who is
courageous and who is admired for the brave accomplishments one has done. Beowulf is the
perfect example of a hero. He was brave, selfless, and humble. My grandfather is also a good
example of a hero, because he too, is selfless and humble. Beowulf is one of the bravest heroes that
I ve heard of. He is also a herothat is courageous. There was once a time when he made the
decision to go to battle, however he left many men behind. He chose to go fight alone when he
had the option to have his men help him defeat Grendel. Beowulf is not only courageous, but he
is a brave soul. He shows us how brave he is by striving to do whatever he can to keep his people
safe. He would do, without a doubt, anything to protect his people, and that is one of his biggest
qualities. Being brave and courageous aren t Beowulf s only qualities. He is selfless. When
Hrothgar dies, he leaves all his good to Beowulf. When he has these goods in his possession, he
holds on to them until he dies. When Beowulf eventually passes, he shows his selflessness by
giving all the money and treasure to his people. He did this because he wanted to die knowing
he helped his people. Beowulf is a humble man. He shows us how humble he is when he goes to
fight Grendel. When Beowulf decides to go to battle with Grendel, he chooses to fight him alone.
He wants to fight him man to man, with an even battle. He fights Grendel with nothing but
himself. He doesn t have his armor, a sword, or even anything at all to fight against him with.
Beowulf was the type of man that was okay with dying knowing he would still be famous. He
chose to put his life into the hands of Godso if the God s thought it was his time to pass, that was

21. Rosa Bonheur s Buffalo Bill
Bonheur was full of curiosity about the many animals and American Indians that were part of the
spectacle, reflecting her enormous enthusiasm in at least seventeen paintings and countless
sketches produced during her almost daily visits to the encampment. An important portrait of
Buffalo Bill himself, mounted on his favourite white horse, was also completed during the time
that Bonheur spent there. It s a straightforward composition, with the white horse trotting on a
somewhat dusty path towards the viewer, slightly at an angle and meeting our gaze, while Cody
glances to one side as if enacting the tracker he once was (see Fig. 7). The background is filled
with some nondescript shrubs and trees, ubiquitous to many picturesque locations of the world,
accompanying a rather calm blue sky. Fig. 7 Rosa Bonheur, Col. William F. Cody (Buffalo
Bill), 1889. The equestrian portrait of Buffalo Bill became an American icon. Buffalo Bill was a
metaphor for all that America stood for and it s no surprise Bonheur was drawn to the man,
perhaps seeing him as a beacon of hope on horseback of a symbolic white steed. Being a forward
thinking womanshe identified America with the liberation of women and a progressive attitude that

Accessibility for the web means making sure that your web pages and applications are available to

Though the skills I have acquired in working for these corporations have proven to be useful in
different settings, overall I have not been satisfied working in corporate America. My many
years of working for private corporations have simply been unfulfilling. I am the kind of person
that needs to feel gratified by the work that I do. For me, that means working as a professional in
the public sector, so in 2013 I decided to return to graduate school to further my education. I

24. Common Types of Resistance to Project Portfolio Management
Common types of resistance to project portfolio management Project portfolio management can
enable an organization to prune redundant or overlapping projects, use resources more effectively
and to keep closer watch on projects progress to ensure projects do not go over budget or overtime
(Solomon 2002:1). However, despite the technique s obvious advantages, it can meet with profound
resistance when it is implemented in practice. Turf wars are common at many organizations, in
which representatives of various departments jockey for scarce resources. Every department has its
pet projects that it may fear losing to overly rigorous scrutiny.
A member of one project may be angry if he or she perceives another project to be favored during
the portfolio management process, particularly if it is made up of members of a rival department.
Portfolio management means continually evaluating which projects can maximize value for the
organization, and there will inevitably be bruised feelings if a project is shuttled or reprioritized.
Resistance in such instances may take the form of open complaints, as members of the offended
team going over the heads of supervisors to upper level management to complain. Or resistance
may take a more subtle form, as workers complain behind the backs of managers about the
members of the other projects they believe have been given more favorable status. Passive
resistance, or refusing to work without directly challenging managers or complaining, can

25. Analysis Of Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birth Mark
Nathaniel Hawthorne was seen as a major figure in the American romantic movement (Constantakis
1). Additionally, Hawthorne created allegories of the dark, irredeemable human condition, a point
of view most likely traceable to the author s New England Puritan roots (Constantakis 2).
Concerning Hawthorne s writing style, he often focused on concrete particulars his tales elevate
into symbols, and his works speak from and to the unconscious that people dream their way into
every night and set aside when they rise from their beds to act (Bunge 4). This short storywas first
published in March 1943 in Pioneer...under Hawthorne s own name (Newman 29). The beginning
of the short story The Birth Mark relates the union of Aylmer, a scientist who was highly
distinguished within his community but personally unsatisfied due to his severe perfectionism,
with his wife, Georgiana. Unfortunately for their relationship, Aylmer obsessed over the
possible removal of his wife s hand shaped birth mark, which he saw as the sole thing that stood
between him and a perfect wife, so Georgiana agreed to have the mark removed. Soon afterwards,
Aylmer furnished a lavishly decorated space for Georgiana to stay in while he developed an elixir
in his laboratory to remove her mark; he also attempted to delight her with several of his other
scientific creations, but they did not always have the intended effect. Georgiana later read notes that
Aylmer kept that pertained to his earlier

When your mind is in the delta frequency, you have increased immune function as well as put out
chemicals that have a deep renewing benefit to your body.
But the delta brainwave state of mind is only achieved when we are in deep, restful sleep. So, if
you have pain, which leads to insomnia, which leads to decreased sleep, which leads to less delta
time for the brain, you are in a downward spiral.
HOW TO GET STARTED:
1. Find a good brainwave entrainment audio that puts your brain down into at least 2.5 Hz for 20
30 minutes.
2. Set aside 30 45 minutes a day to listen to a brainwave meditation audio that puts you into the
delta frequency. The best time to listen to it would be as you go to sleep at night.
3. Give yourself time to reap the benefits of this pain management technique. Your body has its
own rhythm for healing, so give yourself time to develop your body s reserves to renew itself and
feel good again.

28. Nutrition And Its Effects On Health
Just as nutrition can have drastic effects on one s physical health, nutrition can affect one s
mental health as well. The most common mental disorders that are prevalent in numerous
countries are depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and obsessive compulsive disorder
(OCD). The dietary pattern of the general population in many countries reflect that they are often
deficient in many nutrients, especially essential vitamins, minerals, and omega 3 fatty acids.
Deficiency in these vitamins can lead to depression. Depression is a disorder associated with
major symptoms such as increased sadness and anxiety, loss of appetite, depressed mood, and a
loss of interest in pleasurable activities. The greeks once described depression as chronic
melancholy. The term depression was derived from the Latin verb deprimere, to press down .
From the 14th century, to depress meant to bring down in spirits. It was used as early as 1665 to
refer to someone having a great depression of spirit . Since Aristotle, melancholia had been
associated with men of learning and intellectual brilliance, a hazard of contemplation and creativity.
The newer concept abandoned these associations. A notable feature of the diets of patients
suffering from mental disorders is the severe deficiency of these nutrients. If there is no timely
therapeutic intervention, this disorder can lead to various consequences. When we take a closer

How far was the russo Japanese war responsible for the outbreak in Russia 1905?
The Russo Japanese war took place in 1904 to 1905 and began because of both Russia and
Japans desire to expand their borders into places such as Korea. During this war, Russia was
humiliated and had many defeats from a country which were considered to be inferior. The defeat
of this war humiliated the people of Russia and therefore lost confidence in Nicholas II. Russia s
defeat in the war also caused problems in the Military, economic and political problems. This then

If the Russian people were to turn away, they would have to look somewhere else. Many looked
towards political groups who were prepared to take action. The political implications of the Russo
Japanese war was a major cause of the 1905 Revolution as support left the Tsar and went to
political groups which many believed could take his place.
However, many people believe that the Russo Japanese was not the only cause for the outbreak
of the 1905 revolution. During this period, there were many growing political groups which
many believed would be better than the Tsar because of their more radical thinking. The Russians
mainly supported the Populists the Social Revolutionaries, the Social Democrats and the Liberals.
Throughout the years the groups were slowly providing more opposition to the Tsar and each
other. The most radical, and in some ways successful, group was the Social Revolutionaries (SR).
The SR was heavily against the Tsar and his regimes. They opposed by assassinating many
members of the government including the Minister of the Interior, Plehve in 1904 and Sergei. The
SR became hugely popular due to their radicalism and the fact they are getting closer to their goal
than many other political groups which lead to the public supporting them as opposed to the Tsar

they may try to interfere with their life decisions. Harold faced this problem when every person

community members. The film supports the idea that people should not complicate their lives,

43. History Of Career And Technical Education
Career and Technical Education has played a large role throughout the history of the United
States and Ohio specifically. The legal history of Career and Technical Education in the United
States and the state of Ohio has a long history dating back to the 1800s. Career and Technical
Education is also at the forefront in current legal news: a bill sitting in committee and a push for
more Americans to study in Career and Technical Education related fields. With Americans
realizing that not everyone can or wants to attend college or university, Career and Technical
Education is relevant and so is its long history in the United States and, more specifically, Ohio.
Before 1862, there was really no legal history for Career and Technical Education. However,
Congressman Justin S. Morrill of Vermont proposed a bill in 1857 to have federal support in
agricultural and industrial education. President Buchanan did not support the legislation, so
there was no action on the bill. In 1861 however, Morrill reintroduced his bill to the House of
Representatives. President Lincoln later signed it in summer of 1862. This act gave public lands
to build colleges for agriculture and mechanical arts in each state. Each state, within five years,
had to provide a college or the state would be revoked of the grant. This set the stage clearly for
the rest of the legislation in what is now known as Career and Technical Education ( Independent
Action 38). The first major legislation in Ohio for Career

46. Dystopian Society In Divergent
Introduction A film as popular culture becomes something that is often criticized by the
Cultural Studies. A film can show many aspects of cultures because the producer tries to deliver
his/her imagination or reality on it. However, it is not rare when a writer or producer deliver
something about prediction or assumption if some people use a certain ideology to a society.
This kind of prediction based on imagination can be clearly seen on the adaptation film,
Divergent. A film released in 2014 shows how dystopian society is built because of the ideology
that is chosen by certain people and then this ideology influences other people. This dystopian
society is located in Chicago, that in real life is a city in United States. However, the writer
created this city becomes a city that is different from the reality, so the writer, Veronica Roth, can
express her imagination about if a war can result a dystopian society . As we know that a war
often makes a nation become in a depression state. Even so, those nations usually can get up from
this depression state and then it is back to normal state. Veronica Roth tries to show how a city

As one of the few books with LGBT themes out there, it is really heartwarming to see how much
literature is diversifying. It is especially pleasing that, while the LGBT themes are very frequent
throughout the book, they aren t the whole story. To those who may not understand what I mean: it
is just nice to see representation in the background; it normalizes things. The same goes for a
central character having a mental illness but the mental illness not being the entire story. It shows
that we are not just one thing, not just one label, but that our lives are shaped by many aspects and
many people.

its interesting characters and creative style. With its alternating chapters, you will never get bored

50. The Impact Of The Fourteenth Amendment
For centuries, the success of a democratic society has been measured by its commitment to equality,
a resounding principle central to our nation s founding. The Enlightenment inspired language of the
Declaration of Independence, namely the age old axiom that all men are created equal, pervades
our perception of the American creed. However, nearly a century passed before the Lockean
principles espoused in the Declaration of Independence began to bear the force of law. Entitling
American citizens to due process and equal protection of the law, the Fourteenth Amendment,
perhaps the most transformative Amendment of all, has inspired the steady progression of
American society. Nonetheless, while the Amendment serves as the chief legal force behind the
democratic goal of equality, questions regarding its achievement of that goal... Show more content

Regardless of the guarantees evoked in its wording, only court challenges will determine the
fulfillment of its intent, demanding a conscientious populace and Supreme Court that evolves in
time with the dynamic sentiment of modern society. In another respect, the erroneous conclusion
that the amendment itself is immune to criticism must be rejected. For instance, Section II of the
amendment permits the disenfranchisement of felons, a provision that ironically has perpetuated
the marginalization of those that the amendment was intended to protect. The war on drugs, a
campaign that has disproportionately ravaged African American communities, effectively deprives
a substantial percentage of the African American community of the most basic privilege of
citizenship, a consequence that runs counter to the egalitarian quality that defines the amendment.
Nonetheless, all things considered, the sheer existence of the Fourteenth Amendment manifests the
American commitment to wholly achieving equality, a rewarding work in

51. Comparison Between Friedrich Nietzsche And Dr. Martin...
Whether or not you agree with their views, both Friedrich Nietzsche and Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr. were great, highly influential men. Their views, though radically different, impacted the world
in the greatest of ways, altering history for many nations. While Nietzsche, a German
philosopher from the 1800s, spoke from a materialistic point of view, believing that there is no
god and that all that exists is matter, King, a civil rights activist of the 1900s, spoke from the
belief in transcendence, that there is indeed a god, and that he exists in a divine realm outside of
this universe. But not only do these men differ in their backgrounds and religious beliefs, they
differ radically in how they believe society should function. In Nietzsche s writings, he promoted a
system that emphasizes will to power. He believed that an aristocracywas the basis for a great
society. King, on the other hand, promoted a system of equality and justice. He thought all men
were created equal, and that society should reflect that belief. The writings of these men have
come to be studied by people everywhere. They are so influential, in fact, that one of them played
an incredible role in getting our society to the point that it is today.
As stated previously, Nietzsche s work was both great and highly influential. The Nazis even used
his writings as a basis for their beliefs. Nietzsche believed that the greatest societies were always
built upon the aristocratic system. Since he believed there

The Enlightenment is marked as a period in time that challenged people to think for themselves.
While it did not mean removing a belief in God from a person s life, it usually meant refraining

influential people in America who branched away from the Puritan lifestyle; however, that quickly
changed as changed during the Enlightenment period. J. Hector St. John de CrГЁvecoeur, Benjamin

In his writings, he eloquently shared the enlightened idea of individual thought and liberty.
Jefferson wrote of the self evident truths ...that all men are created equal and have inalienable
rights inclusive of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; ... (663). The concept of life, liberty,
and the pursuit of happiness endorsed the idea that when a person is able to determine their own
pursuits through their individual ability, they are able to discover their individual liberties. In
addition, the Enlightenment s ideology coursed through Thomas Jefferson s vision of a
government formed by deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed (663).
Jefferson and his peers believed in the liberal political thought that the people formed the
government, which was answerable to those they represented. Jefferson eschewed the idea of
absolute authority and tyrannical rule as he wrote, that whenever any form of government
becomes destructive...it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it. (663). He relayed the
enlightened intellectual s belief that it is the duty of the people to dispose of despotic regimes
(663). Of Particular interest is the idea that Thomas Jefferson and many American colonists
ascribed heartily enough to the progressive ideas of individualism and freedom that they were
willing to go against their governing
