Compare And Contrast The French And Indian War
Deezhi Peralta Dec.1, 2017 Hour 9 The French and Indian War The French and Indian War was a
battle over a territorial dispute of the Ohio River Territory between France and Great Britain, this
had soon lead to the U.S. Revolutionary War. The war determined which country would control
North America, where the Indians assisted both countries in the fight over territory. The war
came to a compromise after nine years. Without the conflicts between Great Britain and France,
the U.S. would not have been found. It began when conflict started between the line of the British
Empire and the French Empire in the year 1754. Britain wanted to expand its territory toward the
Ohio River Valley, but the French were already settled in the area. The Ohio River Valley was a
trading route with Native Americans and other territories that was rich with many traders which
both countries wanted and needed for their empires, although the area originally belonged to the
French. In 1754, this changed because Great Britain wanted to expand their colonies and land, so
they decided to expand toward the Ohio River Valley for more trading routes with the people
around that area. They however, they did not know the French had already settled there and in their
view the area belonged to the British not the French. As a result, Great Britain began feuding with

Kevin Rudd s Speech In The Stolen Generation
In February of 2008, on behalf of The Australian Parliament, Prime Minister of the time, Kevin
Rudd, presented a speech directed towards the Stolen Generation . This extract addresses the
horrific losses that the Indigenous community has endured in the recent past, acknowledging the
mistreatment and offering stories of the abuse.
In the context of an influential speech, the correct use of language is essential. When attempting to
persuade listeners to agree with them, speakers must use a particular type of vocabulary, known as
emotive language, to evoke certain emotions within the listeners. Emotive language often uses
words that would be categorized as biased, and in a way, manipulates onlookers to feel sympathetic
towards the speaker. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only does this technique reinforce clarity, but it also emphasizes the point that is being
discussed. Throughout the speech, Rudd continues to use words such as sorry and apologise , as a
way of expressing his resentment towards what had happened in the past. For example, the word
sorry is used at the start of many sentences, in which, these sentences are all of the same format.
Rudd begins each of these phrases with a single word, in this case, the word is sorry , then
continues to justify his argument, finishing each sentence off with a reason for his use of the
repeated word. He also structures his sentences in a way that is easier to be heard, keeping any
sentence that uses the repetition technique short. Sorry for the physical suffering... Sorry for the
tragedy, the absolute tragedy, of childhoods lost... Sorry for all these injustices to you... . By
repeating these keywords, the message Rudd is trying to deliver will stick in people s minds a lot
more than if he were only to say the phrase

Colombia Civil War
Colombia gained its independence in the late 1800s from Spanish forces due to the efforts of
Simon Bolivar (Gascoigne, 2001, ongoing). After going through a series of name changes, the
Republic of Colombia was deemed the official name of the country and has remains to this day.
Colombia s history of violence has plagued the country since La Violencia in the 1950s, during
which time the conservative and liberal parties fought over dominance of the South American
nation (Gascoigne, 2001, ongoing). The war lasted for ten years and was only stopped by the
implementation of the National Front. The National Front, a plan created by the government of
Colombia, was a deal made between the conservatives and the liberals that would ensure that
every four years a member of the opposite party would be elected to rule the country (Mother
Earth Travel, 2013). The deal was meant to last sixteen years. The National Front, however, had

demonstrations (UNRIC, 2016). These rebellions continued well after the Escobar reign and into

but to little avail. However, in 2012 the FARC announced that they would no longer be
committing kidnappings and released many victims. It was at this time, though, that they began
attacking infrastructure, mainly the energy sector (UNRIC, 2016). The FARC had already been
stunting the conservation of biodiversity, playing into the heavy deforestation in Colombia
because of the illegal drug trade, and holding Colombia back from fulling taking advantage of
their resources by making many areas of the country no go areas due to the threat of violence.

Jekyll and Hyde Analysis
In this essay on the story of Jekyll and Hyde written by Robert Louis Stevenson I will try to
unravel the true meaning of the book and get inside the characters in the story created by
Stevenson. A story of a man battling with his double personality.
In Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Hyde becomes Jekyll s demonic, monstrous alter ego. Certainly
Stevenson presents him immediately as this from the outset. Hissing as he speaks, Hyde has
quot;a kind of black sneering coolness . . . like Satan quot;. He also strikes those who witness him
as being quot;pale and dwarfish quot; and simian like. The Strange Case unfolds with the search by
the men to uncover the secret of Hyde. As the narrator, Utterson, says, quot;If he be ... Show more

An earlier party to the knowledge that Jekyll and Hyde are one, he has already lost his life to that
secret. A man who believes in rationalism and moral rectitude, Lanyan simply cannot adapt to the
truths uncovered in the revelation of Hyde: improbability and quot;uttcr moral turpitude quot; (SC,
80). He sinks slowly into death, his body following the lead of his quot;sickened quot; soul. His
too is a kind of suicide, a death permitted, if not willed. Lanyan simply cannot accommodate
himself to the horror of Jekyll unveiled.
And neither can Jekyll himself, who is a suicide, as his name indicates ( Je quot; for the French
quot;I quot;; quot;kyll quot; for quot;kill quot;). His double is killing him even in the early
stages of their association, when he believes that he can with impunity rid himself of Hyde at
any time. Initially, Jekyll does not care whether or not Hyde survives: quot;I cannot say that I
care what becomes of Hyde; I am quite done with him quot; (SC, 52). But as his opposing selves
prove inextricably bound, Jekyll becomes quot;careless quot; of life itself (SC, 97). He knows
he risks death in taking his drug, but he does so quite deliberately. If not uppermost in his mind,
suicide lurks there all the same. Jekyll often uses telling language, words like quot;I had come to
a fatal cross roads quot; (SC, 85). Yet his Hyde self totally fears death. As Jekyll becomes
quot;occupied by one thought: the horror of my other self quot; (SC, 95), lie

Essay On The Fall Of The Aztec Empire
Often times people forget just how significant the fall of the Aztec empire is to our current
culture. If the Spanish never invaded the Aztec s there are a number of things that would be
different today such as Christianity might not have been spread because the Aztec s believed in
serving many Gods as well as effects such as the expansion of Mexicoor the non existence of the
Alamo. It is easy for people to analyze the culture we live in but they frequently neglect how it
became this way. The cultural encounter of Spanish invading the Aztecs in the 1500 s was critical
to world historic paths because they helped guide the Spanish to colonize the Americas as well as
the creation of Mexico all caused by a number of factors such as religion, disease and War strategy.

kingdom led to influential products. Out of each one of the factors that contributed to the collapse
came an enlightenment of new and more westernized civilization. The success of their Spaniard s
conquest led to the establishment of the Americas and Mexico. It cultivated modern day Mexico s
traditions as well as the Spanish language. It spread the belief of monotheism Christianity that
would be prominent in the Americas. The new colonies were more developed and advanced than
when the Aztecs ruled. In many ways, the Spanish helped the Aztec s prosper, not all of the Aztec
traditions were demolished but could be better spread and adapted now that the Spanish were in
charge. Most importantly the Spanish helped lay down a firm foundation for customs to be
interchanged and enhanced. The cultural encounter of the Spanish invading the Aztecs was

Ambiguity of American Gothic Anxieties
Since the 19h century, American Gothic fiction started to exist independently from the British type.
In fact, the latter was marked by its use of fantastic, externalized and metaphysical elements as
opposed to the boundaries of American Gothic fiction in which were expressed by historical,
internalized, racial and psychological characteristics. (Edwards, XVII) In Edgar Allan Poe s The
Raven, Fall of the House of Usher and The Tell tale heartand The narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym

conventions to an American setting which are the result of 19th century ... Show more content on

In many gothic fictions, Native Americans are the villains of the story, as white American
writers have projected their sense of evil upon the native inhabitants. (Crow 137) This negative
image towards this group is the reality of the 19th century anxiety of miscegenation, and the fear
of wilderness. A shadowed forest, the possibility of an Indian lurking in the dark ready to attack
and the unknown are features of the wilderness in which created boundaries from the civilized
town to the savage forest, from consciousness and waking to unconscious and dreaming. In
Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown, the feeling of dread and the unknown draws itself into
Brown s mind as he journeys into the gloomy forest. Brown, like most Americans, drew negative
images of Native Americans and their land of wilderness as he spoke: There may be a devilish
Indian behind every tree. (Hawthorne, 606) Moreover, when Brown reaches the witch meeting, he
sees Indians or powwow priests interacting in the evil ritual with people who follow puritan beliefs.
The hypocritical aspect of Goodman Brown s community is still seen as less demonic than that of
the Indians, as they are always portrayed as the lesser breed . Goodman Brown attest that the
natives who had often scared their native forest with more hideous incantations than any known to
English witchcraft (Hawthorne 612).
Conveyed as demonic and adversary creatures, Indians were a common

Describe The Living Condition In Eva s
The living conditions on the camp were previously unseen to the world. The Jews were forced to
live in such extreme conditions they died from sickness, lack of food, or exhaustion. They wernt
fed enough and had to sleep in bunks containing many people per bed. Eva outlines the bed bug
problem in the following quote. She stated, They were sickening bloodsuckers that feasted off
our bodies. There were so many that we would have been covered with them had we not scraped
them off immediately. Even so, our skins were pitted with bites and boils from their attacks. The
way we had to live was disgusting. This example of how they had to sleep was consistent across all
bracks. The bed bugs and lice infestation continued to multiply and people s hopes dwindled in such

that they would complain, and it also mitigated the risk of a revolt. For these reasons if someone

they cannot perform manual labor or tough it out to the extreme. When Eva s feet became so
severe that there was no other options she finally folded and went to the hospital, partially
because she wanted to see her mother. The medical facilities were less than abysmal. They we

the erosion of any human dignity. The erosion of empathy from their captures. The dehumanization

Donald Trump was born on June 14, 1946. He was born and raised in the city of Queens, New

entered Fordham University for two years before transferring to Wharton School of Finance at
the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated from there in 1968 with a degree in economics.

This essay is looking at what the key factors most commonly regarded as being linked to health
inequalities in the United Kingdom. Firstly, what does the term health inequalities mean according
to the World Health Organisation (WHO) Health inequalities can be defined as differences in health
status or in the distribution of health determinants between different population groups. For
example, differences in mobility between elderly people and younger populations or differences in
mortality rates between people from different social classes. It is important to distinguish between
inequality in health and inequity. Some health inequalities are attributable to biological variations

The further up the ladder you climb in a business the better the health benefits can be for example
the higher you go up in the company private health care you get raises in value also getting paid
leave to recover, unlike the workers who are nowhere near the lower middle class section of the
business structure they will be using the NHS this can mean long waiting lists, unpaid leave or
sick pay which is not a lot.
Another factor to inequalities of health could be regional differences and what I mean by this is
where you live in the United Kingdom (BBC, 2011) helps point out if you live in central London
and areas in the south east of England like Brighton, Canterbury(Kent), Oxfordshire, the Isles of
Wight and Surrey they are going to have higher living standards than anyone living in the north of
England for example Middlesbrough, Gateshead or Sunderland and it s the same when it comes to
Wales and Scotland. The reason for the massive divide brings me on to another factor of why there
is such an inequality in health which is employment.
As the (BBC, 2011) states on their website This is linked to employment opportunities. Declines in
traditional industries such as mining have contributed to a

A great artist, Eugene Delacroix, once said, What moves men of genius, or rather what inspires
their work, is not new ideas, but their obsession with the idea that what has already been said is
still not enough. This famous saying, highlights one of the reasons art or even a single painting is
so important. Art is more than shapes and colors; art brings about so much more meaning. It
expresses life, history, beauty, and morals. It shows beliefs and contributes to the many reasons that
make a human being, a human. Art represents past, present, and future. An ancient painting that

Greek Mythology. One of the unusual depictions of Botticelli s early work at the time was that it

The Foreign Policy Strengths For The Privatized Combat Role
Analysis
Strengths
The foreign policy strengths for the privatized combat role includes policy flexibility, force
agility, and reduced political barriers. Policy flexibility is defined as the variety of options
available and the scope in which they can be applied. The resulting collection of choices which
may be mapped and compared to other choices can be referred to as the option space. In the case
of the military, some of the policy options available can include mission types and the variety of
roles from non combat to combat. Force agility is defined as an armed force s scalability, physical
mobility, and adaptability. Force agility is mostly understood as a tactical level capability but the

Within Canada, the military attempts to cover a wide range of capabilities and maximize their
utility. Instead, Canada could contract specialized companies as the need arises. For example,
should Canada decided to launch a peacekeeping mission the government could contract a
private policing corporation who specializes in addressing crime. Furthermore, in theory a free
market economy would force competition between security companies which would encourage
the most efficient and effective service to provide the services required by Canada. Force agility
is improved with private companies in mobility, scalability, and adaptability. Mobility is a
matter of how forces can be transported and equipment is deployed. For private military
companies, the ability to contract logistical services to private airlines or shipping companies
can far exceed the capabilities of the Canadian military without the cost of maintenance or the
challenges of procurement policies. The ability to scale up and demobilize forces quickly is
important from a policy perspective and was demonstrated by private military companies in the
Iraq conflict. Companies are able to scale up forces more quickly than a military force because a
traditional military has to train and plan for surges before hand. Military companies, assuming they
are not at maximum manpower already, can add or remove troops from a theatre of operations with

Legal tender is a average of wage recognized by a legal rule to be authentic for accomplishing a

government does not let up on the debt responsibility until payment is enlisted. Why do prices
change and why does the Fed aim for a 2% inflation rate?
Prices change because of the economy. Inflation is represented as a rise in the general price
level. For example, prices of many goods and services such as housing, apparel, food,
transportation, and fuel must be increasing in order for inflation to occur in the overall
economy. If prices of just a few types of goods or services are growing, there isn t necessarily
inflation. Demand Pull Inflation and Cost Push In cause an increase in the overall price level

The Mixed Economic System In The United States
All countries around the world have some form of economic system that is there to provide a basis
on which their economies can grow and prosper. Current economic systems are based on growth to
remain stable to be successful. Sustainable economies are when the output is steady over the long
term but may change in the short term an economic systemthat does not promote growth is going to
collapse. In economics capitalismand socialism influence views on how the economy should be

Economic policies are there to ensure that the economy will remain stable in the future and also
ensure that everything is being run fair and everyone is getting equal opportunity. Mixed economies
can enact policies that benefit both the consumer and business. In a mixed economy the
government and market work together to determine the best policies for future long term stability
and growth. During a recession in a mixed economy the government will put more money and
resources into the public sector, such as repairing roads, building schools and hospitals and create
more jobs. The government will also lower taxes so consumers have more money to spend. (http:/

of the economy such as inflation and unemployment is not their concern although they contribute to
it. (http://econsguide.blogspot.ca/, 2009). The government acts as a referee carefully enacting
policies that benefit the greater good and improve the economic stability. In times of slow growth
and recession the government can take control and regulate the economy to prevent further slow
growth and bring the economy back to a stable state. At the same time corporations are free to
manage their own business provided they agree to the rules and laws set by the government. A

Endocrine vs. Nervous System
Endocrine Vs Nervous System
The endocrine system acts with nervous system to coordinate the body s activities.
Both systems enable cells to communicate with others by using chemical messengers.
The endocrine system uses chemical messengers called hormones that are transported by the
circulatory system (blood). They act on target cells that may be anywhere in the body.
The endocrine system is slower than the nervous system because hormones must travel through the
circulatory system to reach their target.
Target cells have receptors that are specific to the signaling molecules. The binding of hormones to
the receptors on or within the target cell produces a response by the target cell. The chemical
messengers used by the nervous system ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alcohol inhibits the release of ADH, causing the kidneys to produce dilute urine.
Control of the Anterior Pituitary
The hypothalamus produces hormones that travel in blood vessels to the anterior pituitary,
stimulating it to produce other hormones.
The hormones produced by the hypothalamus are called hypothalamic releasing hormones. The
anterior pituitary produces at least six different hormones. Each one is produced in response to a
specific hypothalamic releasing hormone.
The blood vessel that carries hypothalamic releasing hormones from the hypothalamus to the
pituitary is called a portal vein because it connects two capillary beds. One capillary bed is in the
hypothalamus and the other is in the anterior pituitary.
Release inhibiting hormones produced by the hypothalamus inhibit the pituitary from secreting its
hormones. Example
The pituitary is stimulated to release growth hormone (GH) by growth hromone releasing hormone
(GHRH) produced in the hypothalamus. It is inhibited from releasing growth hormone by growth
hormone release inhibiting hormone(GHRIH), also produced by the hypothalamus. Six different
hormones produced by the anterior lobe will be studied here. Three of these have direct effects on

The Grand Canyon National Park
Grand Canyon National Park
Army Lieutenant Joseph Christmas Ives was the first American to ever lay eyes on the Grand
Canyon. He deemed it altogether valueless , and he believed that ours has been the first and will
undoubtedly be the last, party of whites to visit the locality. It seems intended by nature that the
Colorado River along the greater portion of its lonely and majestic way, shall be forever unvisited
and disturbed (Powell, 3 4). Looking out at the vast beauty of the Grand Canyon, he was sure that
it would never have any importance, and nobody would want to see it. Today, Grand Canyon
National Park is one of the greatest and most well known natural landmarks in all of the United
States.
The Grand Canyon is considered one of the 7 Wonders of the Natural World. Within its cracks and
bends, the Grand Canyon tells a story of the Native American people, and the roots and history of
our nation. The Grand Canyon is essentially surrounded by various Native American tribes and
reservations, including the Navajo Nation Reservation. The Navajo Nation Reservation, spans

Social Justice Issue Of Suicide Prevention Essay
For this online assignment, I am going to be focusing on the social justice issue of suicide
prevention. This is a social justice issue because it affects the community as a whole, not just the
person who is experiencing suicidal ideation. Looking at the issue from the bigger picture can help
to establish more effective prevention methods.
Question #1 I would give myself a rating of 9 with how willing I am to allow the issue of suicide
prevention to be questioned and refuted by scientific evidence. Through my experience, which I
will talk about in the next question, most of the work that goes into organized suicide prevention
efforts is based off of research. With the combination of this knowledge, my personal experience
working with suicide prevention/crisis counseling, and my fierce passion for mental health and
suicide prevention, I would have no problem allowing the use of scientific evidence when looking
at and/or refuting the issue of suicide prevention.
Question #2 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My knowledge of suicide prevention comes from what I have been taught or told, personal
experience, and research I have done for various classes. I am trained in ASIST (Applied Suicide
Intervention Skills Training), which I know was developed and backed by research. Most of
what I have learned about suicide prevention has been taught to me based on research not
necessarily me spending time on my own researching. I have researched several articles
pertaining to suicide prevention, but most of those have been for research papers I have been
working on for classes. A few times, though, I have looked up scientific evidence pertaining to
suicide prevention on my own. I am not a big fan of the research process, honestly, so taking time
to do it recreationally is a huge deal for

Sixth Sense Theme
In the movie The Sixth Sense, directed by M. Night Shyamalan, there are numerous themes that
are brought to light. The theme that I am going to focus on for this paper is death as a part of life.
This theme is evident in this film because Dr. Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) is shot in the first
scene and passes on but the movie continues to show his afterlife without revealing that Dr. Crowe
has actually passed on. Deathas a part of life is also plays a big role with the young boy Cole
(Haley Joel Osment). He is able to see the ghosts of people that have died and listens to them but he
can also communicate with them, which turns out to be very important to the development of the
story.
The first scene where death as a part of life is evident is from the very beginning of the film.
It appears to be a familiar tale of a psychologist, doctor, or lawyer who wants to compensate for a
past failure by helping someone with a similar problem. Crowe feels that he failed his former
patient, Vincent Grey . ( La Caze 1) this is when Vincent Grey (Donnie Wahlberg) shoots Dr.
Crowe and then takes his own life in the bathroom of Dr. Crowes house. This supports the movies
theme because Vincent was one of Dr. Crowes patients who had problems... Show more content on

his trust and open up to him about what is going on in his life. Dr. Crowe is able to recall events

The Physiological Comprehension Of Immune Responses
Introduction: In today s society, molecular understanding of functions, like interleukin 2, has
contributed to the physiological comprehension of immune responses in life forms. Interleukin 2 is
a crucial factor in the fight against HIV/AIDS and other immunosuppressant diseases. It binds itself
to T cellreceptors which induce naive T cell proliferation and differentiation. This contributes to
a plethora of different cells such as cytotoxic T cells, natural kill cells, and LAK cells, which
protect life forms against infections and/or viruses. In 1993, an immunological analysis was
performed by Sadlack and his colleagues. Knockout mice were used, meaning that their IL 2
gene was removed. This resulted in an increased amount of T and B cell counts relative to the
wild type mice. These researchers thus suggested that it is an inflammatory regulator. Overall
when IL 2 is not present, unregulated proliferation of T cells increase as mice reach their terminal
stage of illness. Now, interleukin 2 is used in HIV therapies, which helps increase and regulate T
cell reactions in immune compromised patients. Data has been shown that IL 2 increases
proliferation and survival of CD4+ T cells in these patients.

Our Mother Language Day
(21st February)
UNESCO s declaration of 21st February as the International Mother Language Day has brought
fresh glory and prestige to Bangladesh which is making significant strides towards peace, progress
and prosperity at home and discharging international obligations abroad. After 1952, the people of
Bangladesh have been observing every year the 21st day of February as their glorious and
unforgettable Language Martyrs Day. What happened on 21st February 1952 is widely known. Still
let us very briefly recount the fateful happenings of that day and the circumstances that led to and

February as the International Mother Language Day, it has transcended the national borders of
Bangladesh and acquired an international significance and a global dimension.
International Mother Language Day is particularly significant in the sense that it has a cultural
importance. From now on, 21st February so long observed in Bangladesh as the Bangla Language
Martyrs Day will be observed here simultaneously as the Bangla Language Martyrs Day and the
International Mother Language Day. And in nearly 200 countries of the world, various peoples
speaking various languages and belonging to various national cultures will observe 21st February
as the International Mother Language Day. They will naturally celebrate their own mother
languages, but while doing so, it is more than likely that they will refer to Bangladesh and the
Language Movement launched by her people that reached a climactic point on 21st February 1952.
The declaration made by the UNESCO in November 1999 designating 21st February as the
International Mother Language Day has placed Bangladesh on the cultural map of the world with
a highly positive image. We, people of Bangladesh, should now do all that we can to further
develop our mother language Bangla in all branches of knowledge so that it can play a worthy role

The values will using Vander Waals equation will change the most at the lower temperatures
because the intermolecular forces between particles is greatest here and is assumed to be
negligible by the ideal gas law. These sources of error increase the range of acceptable final values
by a small factor, but a considerable enough factor to include in a conclusion.
Questions
What is vapor pressure and why does it change with temperature?
Vapor pressure is the pressure of the vapor of a substance in its liquid form, in this case water. The
pressure is generally denoted in units of atmospheres or mmHg (mm of mercury) at a specific
temperature, since the particles have different kinetic energies at different temperatures, therefore
having different temperatures (also can be seen by the equation PV=nRT pressure is directly
proportional to temperature).
What is enthalpy of vaporization?
The enthalpy of vaporization is the necessary energy that must be added to a substance to make it
change from liquid form to gaseous form. The energy is generally supplied in units of kJ/mol or kJ.
The assumption was made that the vapor pressure of water is negligible at a temperature close to
zero. Find the actual vapor pressure of water at your low temperature and comment on the validity

The Pros and Cons of Homework Essay
Homework: Does it Help, or Harm Us? When a class is almost over and a teacher starts assigning
homework, every student s heart drops. When students have an excess of homework, they do not
do as well. Even though homework is a good tool to help teachers teach students subjects, teachers
should give less homeworkbecause too much homework causes mental health issues in students
and less homework helps improve test scores. The first reason teachers should give students less
homework is that it takes away their childhood. When a student goes to school for seven hours a
day, and then goes home to three hours of homework, they do not get to be a kid. It is suggested
that student adopt an eight eight eight schedule. This schedule being eight... Show more content on

Assigning less homework in schools could reduce teen anxiety and teen depression rates (Kohn).
The next reason too much homework is harmful to students is that studies show more homework
to cause lower test scores. One to two hours of homework a week does not cause a major change
in test scores (Wolchover). There is no evidence of homework having any academic benefit in
elementary or middle school, and the academic benefit found in high school is very weak (Kohn).
Homework is not shown to help students academically until grades ten through twelve (Wolchover).
There is also no proof that homework increases good study habits in students (Kohn). On top of too
much homework making standardized test scores lower, much of this homework is just busy work
(Wolchover). Many teachers ask their student to re write pages in a textbook. This just causes the
student to spend time on something that has no real purpose. Remedial work has no positive
effect on students. It just takes up more time ( Too Much Homework Can Cause Stress,
Depression and Lower Grades, Studies Suggest ). Even homework that is useful in some way
should be limited. Studies show that a student s time is more useful when they play an instrument
or a sport. Parent s want their student to be good at many things. It is more important to be a well
rounded person than to ace all of your tests (Wolchover). One of the top

The Success Of The Bell Jar By Sylvia Plath
Ever since her suicide Sylvia Plath has become a well known female author, her most famous
piece of work being The Bell Jar. While the book has rose in popularity many argue that the sum
of the reputation that the book holds is because of the story behind the author, and her own suicide.
Yet, those who argue this fail to see how Plath is a revolutionary author for her time, through this

actual writing, and how she speaks out on topics that authors of her time don t usually write about
such as having a feminist standpoint and on reaching insanity.
Throughout the novel, Plath maintains the theme of feminism, making her main character, Esther,

some of those factors.
Furthermore, to understand the concept of LTE optimization in the practical sense, a case study
was done with drive test data collected on Nex tech wireless network and a detailed analysis was

Introduction
LTE network optimization remains an integral part of the LTE network. The main objective of
optimizing the LTE network is to ensure that (Ue) has good service which translates to good user
experience such as high data speed. The LTE optimization approach usually follows a process.
Optimization engineers follow this process to find out where the problems in the network are as
well as identifying what the problems are and then subsequently proposing ways to resolving them.
The first stage of the process is data collection where very sophisticated tools and

The Importance Of Technology In Feed
In the futuristic world M.T Anderson creates in Feed, the misuse of technology is a problem the
world faces. The novel Feed describes how the world could be in the future if humans let
technology rule their lives. Anderson wants the reader to realize the effect technology has on our
lives, and he also wants us to understand how we are being controlled and manipulated by media.
Therefore, Anderson, fearing that one day technology will surpass humanity by creating a society

Flies Of God Research Paper
The Assemblies of God is one of the largest Pentecostal denominations, with 57 million adherents
worldwide. It was organized in 1914 to promote unity and doctrinal stability among groups that
had been influenced by the Pentecostal revivals of the early 1900s, revivals which were the
result of a desire to see an increase in God s power in churches and individuals. Many people
spent long hours in prayer, seeking a fresh infusion of the Spirit. Following the teachings of
Charles Parham, these people were expecting speaking in tongues as an evidence of the Holy Spirits
baptism. The first popularly acknowledged revival was at Azusa Street in Los Angeles, 1906
1909. From that movement, several churches were formed, and in April 1914, meetings were
held in Hot Springs, Arkansas, which led to the formation of the Assemblies of God. Eudorus
Bell, formerly a Southern Baptist preacher, was appointed as the first chairman of the
denomination. The origin of the Assemblies of God church is 1988. The Assemblies of God
believes that the word inspires, There is one true God, eternally existent in three people; God the
Father; God the Son; and God the Holy Spirit. The deity of the lord JesusChrist, The death of Jesus

sovereign creation, reasserted God s authority over life from conception to death, and affirm

Romeo Juliet Comparison
Romeo and Juliet Often people say that William Shakespeare was and still is a legend. They are
correct. It is amazing how Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet written centuries ago can be
better than any movie productions of Romeo and Juliet, which had much better technology to
work with. Although the films appeared more appealing, they left out some major parts. The
play had better mood and plot details which made it much more dramatic and by far a better
presentation. This speech will prove why William Shakespeare s original play should be taught
to students rather than any film versions. One major difference between the play and the movie
occurs in the mood. An example of this is the marriage scene. In the marriage scene of the play,
Romeo and Juliet act very serious. The reader can tell this by the way the two speak. Romeo
says that the Holy Words the Friar speaks can make something without an equal (Act 2, Scene 6)
which is a very intelligent thing to say. Whereas, in the movie they kiss and giggle the entire
time. This leads the viewer to believe that film versions wanted the two to look like fools, that
they could not do anything the way it is normally done because they are children in search of
quick love. This is bad because it is not very realistic. In real life, young adults would take the
matter seriously because they know it is a major step in life. Because the play is not entirely trying
to make the two look bad, it is the better production.

Stroke, Ischemic And Ischemic Attacks
STROKE A stroke is a disease that affects the arteries leading into as well as within the brain.
Strokes are the 4th leading cause of death in the United States. Approximately 800,000 people
have strokes every year about one every 4 seconds. 1 A stroke may cause lasting brain damage,
long term disability, or possibly even death. There are three main types of strokes, ischemic,
hemorrhagic and transient ischemic attacks and each come with many warning signs. A person
may have an increased chance of having a strokedepending on their lifestyle and risky behaviors,
and treatment is determined on what type of stroke a person has. During a stroke, the brain is not

An embolic stroke happens when the clot develops away from the brain, perhaps in a limb, and
is then carried into the brain by the bloodstream. This type of clot when the moving clot then is
lodged within the narrower arteries within the brain is called an embolus The second major type
of stroke is labeled as a hemorrhagic stroke. Hemorrhagic strokes are caused by arteries in the
brain rupturing open or slowly leaking into the cranium. The rupture or leakage of blood then
puts pressure on the surrounding brain cells. There are two types of hemorrhagic strokes;
intracerebral which occurs when a blood vessel in the brain bursts and spills into surrounding
brain tissue damaging brain cells. Brain cells beyond the leak are deprived of blood are also
damaged. 2 The second type of hemorrhagic stroke is called a subarachnoid hemorrhage. With a
subarachnoid hemorrhage an artery on the surface of the brain bursts and spills blood between
the surface of the brain and the skull. This bleeding is often signaled by a sudden, severe
headache. 2 This type of stroke is usually caused by an aneurysm. The third type of stroke is
called a transient ischemic attack, or a mini stroke. With a transient ischemic attack, there is only
a temporary decrease is the blood flow to the brain, and thus is the least severe kind of stroke a
person can have. A TIA can be caused by a clot that usually resolves

Poverty In A Raisin In The Sun
Economic and societal poverty are the key forms of poverty highlighted in the three act play, A
Raisin in the Sun. Lorraine Hansberry, the playwright, discusses the hardships of African
Americans attempting to emerge in society in the 1950 s. The play is staged in ways where the
audience can grasp the trifles of an African American family continuously experiencing setbacks
whilst attempting to achieve their notion of the American Dream . To Walter Lee Younger, his idea
of the American Dream is that anything is possible for those who have money. Unfortunately, there
is a minor problem: Walter Lee Younger is a working class African American man who struggles to
make ends meet in the Southside of Chicago, Illinois. The family undergoes... Show more content

He fails to consider the stepping stones that are necessary in earning money. In The Politics of
Home in Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin in the Sun, Kristin Matthews said: This literal home
mirrors the psycho social struggle of mid century African Americans to attain, secure, and define
a sense of place, or home, in the face of systemic socio economic racism (Matthews). The play
opens with Ruth Younger waking up her son, Travis, for school. By this point, the audience can
see poverty already. To put it into context, Ruth woke up and is walking through the living room
that has been worn and it is visible that the furniture has been supporting too many people for too
many years (Hansberry, 998) and she tries to wake up Travis, who is seen sleeping on the sofa.
The house is crowded to the point where Walter and Ruth Younger s son is in a situation where
the only place to sleep is the sofa. That is a sign of economic poverty, simply because the family
cannot afford to live in a place where their son has a bedroom. The house is an apartment that
homes: Lena Mama , Walter, Ruth, Travis, and Beneatha Younger. It is a two bedroom unit housing
five people. There, again, is a sign of economic poverty, because this is a family that cannot support
themselves to live in an adequate setting. The mere fact that three generations need to share a living

Essential UI Design Practices For Every Mobile App Developer
When it comes to communicating with and accessing potential users around the globe, mobile
apps have gradually emerged to become a very important tool. Virtually everyone is talking about
using, having or sending mobile apps which have automatically become the buzzword in the
mobile space. If you are looking to create an app that will worth your users choice and time, then
you must be ready to build something that is well equipped with all necessary features and very
attractive.
Alongside with User Experience (UX), you will surely need to consider developing your mobile
app with an impressive User Interface (UI). In case you do not know, this has to do with everything
your ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Remember that before your app can be made available on major app stores like Google Play and
Apple Store, will have to be properly scrutinized and tested. It is advisable to use interactions, touch
gestures, and navigation systems to try out innovations.
Certain objective methods such as A/B testing and user studies may be helpful particularly if you
are seeking to try out new ideas on your own. You can use these methods to compare these
components with the initial versions of your UI. Through this means you can know which of the
two versions is simpler, more efficient, and preferable to use.
Make it look attractive
It always helps to keep the mobile UI of your app graphical. Just so you know, appearance
(design) matters much. An app designed with a more text heavy design will surely not be
preferred more than a mobile app with an enticing look. As a general rule of thumb, ensure to make
use of graphics that are appropriately sized.
In terms of your app s visual appeal, it is good to establish simple resource management but avoid
employing inappropriate graphics. Many mobile app development companies often make the
mistake of taking a one size fit most approach to enhance their app s graphics. If you want your
mobile application to look its best, then you must ensure to incorporate appropriately sized
graphics particularly those specific to the screen of the device you are developing for.

Dehumanization In Bartleby, The Scrivener
In Melville s Bartleby, the scrivener and Douglass s narrative both main characters are affected by
some sort of dehumanization. Each one was different than the other and had different effects on the
characters. While Bartleby was in a city, staying in his workspace all the time, Douglass lived the
life of a slave in America and was severely mistreated. They both lost their humanity through work
and being treated less than human beings. This can affect people in many ways, the side effects just
depend on each person. No matter how it changes people, the way to cure dehumanization is
through other people. Human beings need one another to make them feel human.
Melville created Bartleby as quite a unique character. He lives in the lawyer s office and works as a
scrivener so he never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and emotions that were meant for certain people which must have taken a toll on Bartleby. When
he first arrived at the office he did an amazing job working night and day. The narrator explains, I
should have been quite delighted with his application, had he been cheerfully industrious. But he
wrote on silently, palely, mechanically (Melville pg.1476). This is a sign that we are given that
something is off. After two days of his diligent work, he began to say the phrase, I would prefer
not to when asked to do a task. The first time that Bartleby says this the narrator explains that had

Arsenic Research Papers
Brianna Cross10/28/16 Chemistry Essay Arsenic Arsenic is one of the most toxic elements that
can be found on Earth. Arsenic has a symbol of As and an atomic number of 33. It is a metalloid
which gives it both metal and nonmetal characteristics. Arsenic has many allotropes, but the gray
form is important for industry. The three main allotropes are metallic gray, black, and yellow.
Gray arsenic is brittle and has a low hardness (based on the Moh s hardness scale) yet a high
density. Yellow arsenic is soft and waxy. It is least dense and most toxic. It is also transformed into
gray arsenic by light. Black arsenic is brittle and glassy. It is a poor electrical conductor as well.
Inorganic and organic compounds of arsenic are found in many places among the earth. Arsenic is
discovered in the environment from both nature and certain human activities. Arsenic is usually
found in soils, sediments, and groundwater. The process of mining, ore smelting, and industrial use
of arsenic can result in these inorganic compounds meeting the surface. Organic arsenic compounds
are found in fish, shellfish and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mineral forms of arsenic were known as early as the fourth century BC, but Albertus Magnus, a
German scholastic, is usually credited with the discovery of the element around 1250. The first
directions for the preparation of metallic arsenic are found in the writings of Paracelsus. The
Greeks of the Roman Empire would use this element to kill others. The compound s lack of
color, odor and taste made the sinister hard to detect, as well as the distribution in nature which
made it available to all classes. The symptoms of Arsenic were similar to food poisoning and other
common disorders which also made it hard to figure out if it was a planned death. These inorganic
and organic compounds can be the reason for a harmful human

Augustine s Theodic On The Fall
Augustine said that evil is created by us, not God, through our own free will. Our actions are
decided by ourselves and the consequence of evil is ultimately caused by us. If God designed
them so that they only choose good, then they would not be truly free. Without free will, we would
not have a genuine choice between good and evil. There are many different beliefs concerning the
cause of evil and their relevance. These include the relevance to Christians, other religions and
science when concerning the interpretation of the story of the fall and free will.
Augustine argues that natural evil is the result of moral evil of human beings. In the book of
Genesis, the choice that Adam and Eve made to disobey God led to what we know as the fall . As
God is all loving, evil would not have been part of his creative work for the universe. He would
ve wanted a perfect world, so he would not create evil himself. The only way that evil could be
created is through our own actions. This is relevant as people still follow the bible and understand
the consequences of disobeying God. Therefore, all evil, natural and moral, is caused by the free
choice of humans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story of the Fall was meant to be interpreted. It was never intended to be a historical account
as it is a symbolic story. Many Christians now believe that this myth just reveals the importance
between the relationship of God and human beings, and obeying what he says. This means that
we cannot claim that the Fall is responsible for all natural evil as it was not an actual event in
human history. It is an old story which may have been relevant back in the remote ages, but now
we see it as a parable that helps us understand that we should obey God. This is not due to the
consequences that will happen during our life on earth, but in the

Beethoven s 9th Symphony Analysis
This production of Beethoven s 9th Symphony was presented by the Lubbock Symphony
Orchestra in conjunction with The Lubbock Chorale and The Texas Tech University Choir. The
performance was held in the Lubbock Civic Center Theatre on October 13th and 14th at 7:30p.m.
As a performer in the University Choir, I was required to attend and perform both nights which
allowed me the opportunity to observe two different audiences. The audience on the night of the
13th was obviously better prepared to handle such a long and mercurial major work. This was
evident in the audience s reactions to the ends of movements. The long standing and unwritten rule
of waiting until the end of a major work to clap was followed silently and diligently. This audience
was mostly made up of adults obviously over the age of fifty that are regular attendees and patrons
of the Lubbock SymphonyOrchestra. Following thereafter in group size were the students,
specifically Texas Tech and surrounding area high school students. At this performance the amount
of attending children was few to none, as I could not see or hear any. The second audience
mimicked the preceding audience in size and age, however, this audience s reaction of clapping at
the end of movements was highly undesired by the performers, Maestro Cho, and the remaining
members of the audience that understand the unwritten rules of attending these types of concerts.
These types of reactions by inexperienced audiences make listening to or concentrating on great
performances of beautiful music very difficult. Not only do these translate to distractions for the
performers, but applause betwixt the movements can interrupt the flow of the work and thwart the
intended effect that the composer and conductor wish to have on the audience. This audience
reaction can also take away and distract from the atmosphere of the performance, which, in this case
was a relatively small and intimate concert hall.
Because this concert was only a performance of Beethoven s 9th Symphony, I will react to
movements two and four, the Scherzo and Recitative respectively. The Scherzo (second) movement
was characterized by Beethoven s ability to keep the constant presto eighth note motive throughout

  • 2. Compare And Contrast The French And Indian War Deezhi Peralta Dec.1, 2017 Hour 9 The French and Indian War The French and Indian War was a battle over a territorial dispute of the Ohio River Territory between France and Great Britain, this had soon lead to the U.S. Revolutionary War. The war determined which country would control North America, where the Indians assisted both countries in the fight over territory. The war came to a compromise after nine years. Without the conflicts between Great Britain and France, the U.S. would not have been found. It began when conflict started between the line of the British Empire and the French Empire in the year 1754. Britain wanted to expand its territory toward the Ohio River Valley, but the French were already settled in the area. The Ohio River Valley was a trading route with Native Americans and other territories that was rich with many traders which both countries wanted and needed for their empires, although the area originally belonged to the French. In 1754, this changed because Great Britain wanted to expand their colonies and land, so they decided to expand toward the Ohio River Valley for more trading routes with the people around that area. They however, they did not know the French had already settled there and in their view the area belonged to the British not the French. As a result, Great Britain began feuding with France and... • 3. Kevin Rudd s Speech In The Stolen Generation In February of 2008, on behalf of The Australian Parliament, Prime Minister of the time, Kevin Rudd, presented a speech directed towards the Stolen Generation . This extract addresses the horrific losses that the Indigenous community has endured in the recent past, acknowledging the mistreatment and offering stories of the abuse. In the context of an influential speech, the correct use of language is essential. When attempting to persuade listeners to agree with them, speakers must use a particular type of vocabulary, known as emotive language, to evoke certain emotions within the listeners. Emotive language often uses words that would be categorized as biased, and in a way, manipulates onlookers to feel sympathetic towards the speaker. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only does this technique reinforce clarity, but it also emphasizes the point that is being discussed. Throughout the speech, Rudd continues to use words such as sorry and apologise , as a way of expressing his resentment towards what had happened in the past. For example, the word sorry is used at the start of many sentences, in which, these sentences are all of the same format. Rudd begins each of these phrases with a single word, in this case, the word is sorry , then continues to justify his argument, finishing each sentence off with a reason for his use of the repeated word. He also structures his sentences in a way that is easier to be heard, keeping any sentence that uses the repetition technique short. Sorry for the physical suffering... Sorry for the tragedy, the absolute tragedy, of childhoods lost... Sorry for all these injustices to you... . By repeating these keywords, the message Rudd is trying to deliver will stick in people s minds a lot more than if he were only to say the phrase ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Colombia Civil War Colombia gained its independence in the late 1800s from Spanish forces due to the efforts of Simon Bolivar (Gascoigne, 2001, ongoing). After going through a series of name changes, the Republic of Colombia was deemed the official name of the country and has remains to this day. Colombia s history of violence has plagued the country since La Violencia in the 1950s, during which time the conservative and liberal parties fought over dominance of the South American nation (Gascoigne, 2001, ongoing). The war lasted for ten years and was only stopped by the implementation of the National Front. The National Front, a plan created by the government of Colombia, was a deal made between the conservatives and the liberals that would ensure that every four years a member of the opposite party would be elected to rule the country (Mother Earth Travel, 2013). The deal was meant to last sixteen years. The National Front, however, had dire consequences for the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, in 2012 the FARC announced that they would no longer be committing kidnappings and released many victims. A story of a man battling with his double personality. In Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Hyde becomes Jekyll s demonic, monstrous alter ego. Certainly Stevenson presents him immediately as this from the outset. Hissing as he speaks, Hyde has quot;a kind of black sneering coolness . . . like Satan quot;. He also strikes those who witness him as being quot;pale and dwarfish quot; and simian like. The Strange Case unfolds with the search by the men to uncover the secret of Hyde. He sinks slowly into death, his body following the lead of his quot;sickened quot; soul. His too is a kind of suicide, a death permitted, if not willed. Lanyan simply cannot accommodate himself to the horror of Jekyll unveiled. And neither can Jekyll himself, who is a suicide, as his name indicates ( Je quot; for the French quot;I quot;; quot;kyll quot; for quot;kill quot;). His double is killing him even in the early stages of their association, when he believes that he can with impunity rid himself of Hyde at any time. Initially, Jekyll does not care whether or not Hyde survives: quot;I cannot say that I care what becomes of Hyde; I am quite done with him quot; (SC, 52). But as his opposing selves prove inextricably bound, Jekyll becomes quot;careless quot; of life itself (SC, 97). He knows he risks death in taking his drug, but he does so quite deliberately. If not uppermost in his mind, suicide lurks there all the same. Jekyll often uses telling language, words like quot;I had come to a fatal cross roads quot; (SC, 85). Yet his Hyde self totally fears death. As Jekyll becomes quot;occupied by one thought: the horror of my other self quot; (SC, 95), lie ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If the Spanish never invaded the Aztec s there are a number of things that would be different today such as Christianity might not have been spread because the Aztec s believed in serving many Gods as well as effects such as the expansion of Mexicoor the non existence of the Alamo. It is easy for people to analyze the culture we live in but they frequently neglect how it became this way. In fact, the latter was marked by its use of fantastic, externalized and metaphysical elements as opposed to the boundaries of American Gothic fiction in which were expressed by historical, internalized, racial and psychological characteristics. A shadowed forest, the possibility of an Indian lurking in the dark ready to attack and the unknown are features of the wilderness in which created boundaries from the civilized town to the savage forest, from consciousness and waking to unconscious and dreaming. In Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown, the feeling of dread and the unknown draws itself into Brown s mind as he journeys into the gloomy forest. Brown, like most Americans, drew negative images of Native Americans and their land of wilderness as he spoke: There may be a devilish Indian behind every tree. (Hawthorne, 606) Moreover, when Brown reaches the witch meeting, he sees Indians or powwow priests interacting in the evil ritual with people who follow puritan beliefs. The hypocritical aspect of Goodman Brown s community is still seen as less demonic than that of the Indians, as they are always portrayed as the lesser breed . A great artist, Eugene Delacroix, once said, What moves men of genius, or rather what inspires their work, is not new ideas, but their obsession with the idea that what has already been said is still not enough. This famous saying, highlights one of the reasons art or even a single painting is so important. Art is more than shapes and colors; art brings about so much more meaning. It expresses life, history, beauty, and morals. It shows beliefs and contributes to the many reasons that make a human being, a human. Art represents past, present, and future. The Primavera and the Birth of Venus were both believed to be made for the Botticelli s friends, the Medici family, a Florentine family made up of Lorenzo Di Medici who was ruler of Florence and Cosimo Di Medici who was known for opening the first public library in Europe in 1444. Botticelli s artistic and financial highpoint was reached during his middle years when he had contacts, money and fame as a result of the Medici family s patronage. Botticelli was self confident and completely at peace with his work, fellow Italian painter Giorgio Vasari claimed about Botticelli that, he loved beyond measure (Lightbown 17), and that his affections were absorbed by his family and his artwork by mysteries of religion and Greek Mythology. One of the unusual depictions of Botticelli s early work at the time was that it was all based off mythologies and not religious paintings which must have been a shock to people outside of the Humanist circle. Botticelli s work is very sophisticated and feminine. The resulting collection of choices which may be mapped and compared to other choices can be referred to as the option space. In the case of the military, some of the policy options available can include mission types and the variety of roles from non combat to combat. Within Canada, the military attempts to cover a wide range of capabilities and maximize their utility. Instead, Canada could contract specialized companies as the need arises. For example, should Canada decided to launch a peacekeeping mission the government could contract a private policing corporation who specializes in addressing crime. Furthermore, in theory a free market economy would force competition between security companies which would encourage the most efficient and effective service to provide the services required by Canada. Force agility is improved with private companies in mobility, scalability, and adaptability. Mobility is a matter of how forces can be transported and equipment is deployed. For private military companies, the ability to contract logistical services to private airlines or shipping companies can far exceed the capabilities of the Canadian military without the cost of maintenance or the challenges of procurement policies. The ability to scale up and demobilize forces quickly is important from a policy perspective and was demonstrated by private military companies in the Iraq conflict. Private sectors main interest is to make a profit and not the state of the economy such as inflation and unemployment is not their concern although they contribute to it. • 16. Extreme Sorrow In Romeo And Juliet As Romeo thinks that he is successful, he makes a gratifying amount of horrible decisions, in which are turned into life lessons. A tragedy is a story in which the main characters suffer from extreme sorrow. Nevertheless, when Romeo makes one terrible move on his community and family, each person would react differently like killing themselves. In the meantime, Romeo suffers through extreme sorrow from tragic flaws, moral weaknesses, and has the inability to cope with unfavorable circumstances. To begin with, Romeo has a tendency to become impatient when he is waiting for someone or something. For instance, Benvolio, who is telling his speech says, And, as he fell, did Romeo turn and fly (3.1.136). Since Romeo kills Tybalt in front of a couple of people, he cannot wait for the serving men to come, so he ran away as rapid as he could. Also, Romeo says to Juliet, And trust me love, in my eye so do you./Dry sorrow drinks our blood. Adieu, Adieu! (3.5.57 58). Both systems enable cells to communicate with others by using chemical messengers. The endocrine system uses chemical messengers called hormones that are transported by the circulatory system (blood). They act on target cells that may be anywhere in the body. The endocrine system is slower than the nervous system because hormones must travel through the circulatory system to reach their target. Target cells have receptors that are specific to the signaling molecules. The binding of hormones to the receptors on or within the target cell produces a response by the target cell. Control of the Anterior Pituitary The hypothalamus produces hormones that travel in blood vessels to the anterior pituitary, stimulating it to produce other hormones. The hormones produced by the hypothalamus are called hypothalamic releasing hormones. The anterior pituitary produces at least six different hormones. Each one is produced in response to a specific hypothalamic releasing hormone. The blood vessel that carries hypothalamic releasing hormones from the hypothalamus to the pituitary is called a portal vein because it connects two capillary beds. One capillary bed is in the hypothalamus and the other is in the anterior pituitary. Release inhibiting hormones produced by the hypothalamus inhibit the pituitary from secreting its hormones. Example The pituitary is stimulated to release growth hormone (GH) by growth hromone releasing hormone (GHRH) produced in the hypothalamus. It is inhibited from releasing growth hormone by growth hormone release inhibiting hormone(GHRIH), also produced by the hypothalamus. Six different hormones produced by the anterior lobe will be studied here. Three of these have direct effects on the body, the other three control other glands. He deemed it altogether valueless , and he believed that ours has been the first and will undoubtedly be the last, party of whites to visit the locality. It seems intended by nature that the Colorado River along the greater portion of its lonely and majestic way, shall be forever unvisited and disturbed (Powell, 3 4). Looking out at the vast beauty of the Grand Canyon, he was sure that it would never have any importance, and nobody would want to see it. Today, Grand Canyon National Park is one of the greatest and most well known natural landmarks in all of the United States. The Grand Canyon is considered one of the 7 Wonders of the Natural World. Within its cracks and bends, the Grand Canyon tells a story of the Native American people, and the roots and history of our nation. The Grand Canyon is essentially surrounded by various Native American tribes and reservations, including the Navajo Nation Reservation. The Navajo Nation Reservation, spans 27,000 square miles and spreads across three states: Arizona, Utah and New Mexico. • 20. Sixth Sense Theme In the movie The Sixth Sense, directed by M. Night Shyamalan, there are numerous themes that are brought to light. The theme that I am going to focus on for this paper is death as a part of life. This theme is evident in this film because Dr. Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) is shot in the first scene and passes on but the movie continues to show his afterlife without revealing that Dr. Crowe has actually passed on. Deathas a part of life is also plays a big role with the young boy Cole (Haley Joel Osment). He is able to see the ghosts of people that have died and listens to them but he can also communicate with them, which turns out to be very important to the development of the story. The first scene where death as a part of life is evident is from the very beginning of the film. It appears to be a familiar tale of a psychologist, doctor, or lawyer who wants to compensate for a past failure by helping someone with a similar problem. Crowe feels that he failed his former patient, Vincent Grey . • 22. The Physiological Comprehension Of Immune Responses Introduction: In today s society, molecular understanding of functions, like interleukin 2, has contributed to the physiological comprehension of immune responses in life forms. Interleukin 2 is a crucial factor in the fight against HIV/AIDS and other immunosuppressant diseases. It binds itself to T cellreceptors which induce naive T cell proliferation and differentiation. This contributes to a plethora of different cells such as cytotoxic T cells, natural kill cells, and LAK cells, which protect life forms against infections and/or viruses. In 1993, an immunological analysis was performed by Sadlack and his colleagues. Knockout mice were used, meaning that their IL 2 gene was removed. This resulted in an increased amount of T and B cell counts relative to the wild type mice. These researchers thus suggested that it is an inflammatory regulator. Overall when IL 2 is not present, unregulated proliferation of T cells increase as mice reach their terminal stage of illness. Now, interleukin 2 is used in HIV therapies, which helps increase and regulate T cell reactions in immune compromised patients. Data has been shown that IL 2 increases proliferation and survival of CD4+ T cells in these patients. Questions What is vapor pressure and why does it change with temperature? Vapor pressure is the pressure of the vapor of a substance in its liquid form, in this case water. The pressure is generally denoted in units of atmospheres or mmHg (mm of mercury) at a specific temperature, since the particles have different kinetic energies at different temperatures, therefore having different temperatures (also can be seen by the equation PV=nRT pressure is directly proportional to temperature). What is enthalpy of vaporization? The enthalpy of vaporization is the necessary energy that must be added to a substance to make it change from liquid form to gaseous form. Over the years, telecommunication operators have been adopting strategies to mitigate all these challenges in order to improve user experience. This research focused specifically on the optimization of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is also believed that the common issues that occur in the LTE network could be reduced drastically if attention if given to certain engineering practices. The research revealed and discussed some of those factors. Furthermore, to understand the concept of LTE optimization in the practical sense, a case study was done with drive test data collected on Nex tech wireless network and a detailed analysis was made and some issues were identified and rectified in the network. By and large, the findings from the research and the deductions from the case study only proved that there is a tremendous benefit in adopting a quality optimization strategy in any LTE network. More so, not only do the subscribers get great quality of service but the operators also make maximum financial gains. Introduction LTE network optimization remains an integral part of the LTE network. The main objective of optimizing the LTE network is to ensure that (Ue) has good service which translates to good user experience such as high data speed. The LTE optimization approach usually follows a process. Optimization engineers follow this process to find out where the problems in the network are as well as identifying what the problems are and then subsequently proposing ways to resolving them. The first stage of the process is data collection where very sophisticated tools and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Literature Review On Atrial Fibrillation Atrial fibrillation is a common chronic condition, occurring in approximately three million people in the United States (American College of Cardiology, 2015). It can lead to serious complications such as blood clots, stroke, or heart failure (American College of Cardiology, 2015). Therefore, healthcare providers must understand how to manage new onset and chronic atrial fibrillation. Patients may present to the emergency department with atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response in both new onset and chronic cases. There are different choices of treatment for atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response. For instance, healthcare providers can choose a rate controlling medication such as metoprolol or diltiazem. Or they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cogitating that other references have supported the claims made by the authors, this article is accurate (Gettysburg College, 2016) The main limitation of this study was the design. Researchers were unable to randomize the groups. Furthermore, they were unable to detect subgroups (Hines et. al., 2016). They didn t get to directly interview patients. Another limitation was the setting of the study because it is a teaching hospital. Finally, the researchers were unable to demonstrate the length of research because they only used two snapshots of information. • 39. Flies Of God Research Paper The Assemblies of God is one of the largest Pentecostal denominations, with 57 million adherents worldwide. It was organized in 1914 to promote unity and doctrinal stability among groups that had been influenced by the Pentecostal revivals of the early 1900s, revivals which were the result of a desire to see an increase in God s power in churches and individuals. Many people spent long hours in prayer, seeking a fresh infusion of the Spirit. Following the teachings of Charles Parham, these people were expecting speaking in tongues as an evidence of the Holy Spirits baptism. The first popularly acknowledged revival was at Azusa Street in Los Angeles, 1906 1909. From that movement, several churches were formed, and in April 1914, meetings were held in Hot Springs, Arkansas, which led to the formation of the Assemblies of God. Eudorus Bell, formerly a Southern Baptist preacher, was appointed as the first chairman of the denomination. The origin of the Assemblies of God church is 1988. • 40. Romeo Juliet Comparison Romeo and Juliet Often people say that William Shakespeare was and still is a legend. They are correct. It is amazing how Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet written centuries ago can be better than any movie productions of Romeo and Juliet, which had much better technology to work with. Although the films appeared more appealing, they left out some major parts. The play had better mood and plot details which made it much more dramatic and by far a better presentation. This speech will prove why William Shakespeare s original play should be taught to students rather than any film versions. One major difference between the play and the movie occurs in the mood. An example of this is the marriage scene. In the marriage scene of the play, Romeo and Juliet act very serious. The reader can tell this by the way the two speak. Romeo says that the Holy Words the Friar speaks can make something without an equal (Act 2, Scene 6) which is a very intelligent thing to say. Whereas, in the movie they kiss and giggle the entire time. This leads the viewer to believe that film versions wanted the two to look like fools, that they could not do anything the way it is normally done because they are children in search of quick love. This is bad because it is not very realistic. In real life, young adults would take the matter seriously because they know it is a major step in life. Because the play is not entirely trying to make the two look bad, it is the better production. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Stroke, Ischemic And Ischemic Attacks STROKE A stroke is a disease that affects the arteries leading into as well as within the brain. Strokes are the 4th leading cause of death in the United States. Approximately 800,000 people have strokes every year about one every 4 seconds. 1 A stroke may cause lasting brain damage, long term disability, or possibly even death. There are three main types of strokes, ischemic, hemorrhagic and transient ischemic attacks and each come with many warning signs. A person may have an increased chance of having a strokedepending on their lifestyle and risky behaviors, and treatment is determined on what type of stroke a person has. An embolic stroke happens when the clot develops away from the brain, perhaps in a limb, and is then carried into the brain by the bloodstream. This type of clot when the moving clot then is lodged within the narrower arteries within the brain is called an embolus The second major type of stroke is labeled as a hemorrhagic stroke. Hemorrhagic strokes are caused by arteries in the brain rupturing open or slowly leaking into the cranium. The rupture or leakage of blood then puts pressure on the surrounding brain cells. There are two types of hemorrhagic strokes; intracerebral which occurs when a blood vessel in the brain bursts and spills into surrounding brain tissue damaging brain cells. Brain cells beyond the leak are deprived of blood are also damaged. 2 The second type of hemorrhagic stroke is called a subarachnoid hemorrhage. With a subarachnoid hemorrhage an artery on the surface of the brain bursts and spills blood between the surface of the brain and the skull. This bleeding is often signaled by a sudden, severe headache. 2 This type of stroke is usually caused by an aneurysm. The third type of stroke is called a transient ischemic attack, or a mini stroke. Lorraine Hansberry, the playwright, discusses the hardships of African Americans attempting to emerge in society in the 1950 s. The play is staged in ways where the audience can grasp the trifles of an African American family continuously experiencing setbacks whilst attempting to achieve their notion of the American Dream . The play opens with Ruth Younger waking up her son, Travis, for school. By this point, the audience can see poverty already. To put it into context, Ruth woke up and is walking through the living room that has been worn and it is visible that the furniture has been supporting too many people for too many years (Hansberry, 998) and she tries to wake up Travis, who is seen sleeping on the sofa. The house is crowded to the point where Walter and Ruth Younger s son is in a situation where the only place to sleep is the sofa. That is a sign of economic poverty, simply because the family cannot afford to live in a place where their son has a bedroom. The house is an apartment that homes: Lena Mama , Walter, Ruth, Travis, and Beneatha Younger. It is a two bedroom unit housing five people. There, again, is a sign of economic poverty, because this is a family that cannot support themselves to live in an adequate setting. The mere fact that three generations need to share a living ... • 45. Arsenic Research Papers Brianna Cross10/28/16 Chemistry Essay Arsenic Arsenic is one of the most toxic elements that can be found on Earth. Arsenic has a symbol of As and an atomic number of 33. It is a metalloid which gives it both metal and nonmetal characteristics. Arsenic has many allotropes, but the gray form is important for industry. The three main allotropes are metallic gray, black, and yellow. Gray arsenic is brittle and has a low hardness (based on the Moh s hardness scale) yet a high density. Yellow arsenic is soft and waxy. It is least dense and most toxic. It is also transformed into gray arsenic by light. Black arsenic is brittle and glassy. It is a poor electrical conductor as well. Inorganic and organic compounds of arsenic are found in many places among the earth. Arsenic is discovered in the environment from both nature and certain human activities. • 46. Augustine s Theodic On The Fall Augustine said that evil is created by us, not God, through our own free will. Our actions are decided by ourselves and the consequence of evil is ultimately caused by us. If God designed them so that they only choose good, then they would not be truly free. Without free will, we would not have a genuine choice between good and evil. There are many different beliefs concerning the cause of evil and their relevance. These include the relevance to Christians, other religions and science when concerning the interpretation of the story of the fall and free will. Augustine argues that natural evil is the result of moral evil of human beings. In the book of Genesis, the choice that Adam and Eve made to disobey God led to what we know as the fall . As God is all loving, evil would not have been part of his creative work for the universe. He would ve wanted a perfect world, so he would not create evil himself. The only way that evil could be created is through our own actions. This is relevant as people still follow the bible and understand the consequences of disobeying God. Therefore, all evil, natural and moral, is caused by the free choice of humans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The story of the Fall was meant to be interpreted. Beethoven s 9th Symphony Analysis This production of Beethoven s 9th Symphony was presented by the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra in conjunction with The Lubbock Chorale and The Texas Tech University Choir. The performance was held in the Lubbock Civic Center Theatre on October 13th and 14th at 7:30p.m. As a performer in the University Choir, I was required to attend and perform both nights which allowed me the opportunity to observe two different audiences. The audience on the night of the 13th was obviously better prepared to handle such a long and mercurial major work. This was evident in the audience s reactions to the ends of movements. The long standing and unwritten rule of waiting until the end of a major work to clap was followed silently and diligently. This audience was mostly made up of adults obviously over the age of fifty that are regular attendees and patrons of the Lubbock SymphonyOrchestra. Following thereafter in group size were the students, specifically Texas Tech and surrounding area high school students. At this performance the amount of attending children was few to none, as I could not see or hear any. The second audience mimicked the preceding audience in size and age, however, this audience s reaction of clapping at the end of movements was highly undesired by the performers, Maestro Cho, and the remaining members of the audience that understand the unwritten rules of attending these types of concerts. These types of reactions by inexperienced audiences make listening to or concentrating on great performances of beautiful music very difficult. Not only do these translate to distractions for the performers, but applause betwixt the movements can interrupt the flow of the work and thwart the intended effect that the composer and conductor wish to have on the audience. This audience reaction can also take away and distract from the atmosphere of the performance, which, in this case was a relatively small and intimate concert hall.
