The United Nations Stabilization Mission Essay
The term United Nations was, according to the UN s official website, coined by United States
president Franklin Roosevelt in the context of the fact that the nations were united against the Axis
forces in World War Two. In 1945, the United Nations officially started with fifty one states as its
members. Since then, the United Nationshas grown greatly to nearly 200 state members. The United
Nations has several specific purposes that it tries to fulfill. First, its primary goal is to maintain
international peace and security. According to the UN s website, there are five main ways that it
fulfills this purpose. First by preventing conflict before it even starts specifically with diplomatic
discussions and actions in a peaceful manner. Second, the UN maintains international security with
peace keeping organizations. For example, the UN currently is working as the United Nations
Stabilization Mission in Haiti to not only help with the rebuilding after the devastating earthquakes
but also simply maintain peace in the country. In addition to working in preventative and
peacekeeping ways, the United Nations also works towards peace with Peace Building activities,
such as its work in Burundi until 2012. The United nations fourth way it maintains peace is by
combating terrorism which is arguably the opposite of peace. In the United Nations plan of action
for combating terrorism, it states that its members will consistently, unequivocally and strongly
condemn terrorism in

The company would long remain a mainstay of the United Kingdom s high street shopping districts.
Hepworth Son s continued expansion led the company to go public in 1948. By the late 1970s,
however, Hepworth Son had begun to suffer from old age pains and, especially, from its
conservative image. Led by chairman Terence Conran, however, Hepworth Son made a bold move
to remake itself completely at the start of the 1980s.
In 1981 the company acquired the Kendalls retail store chain. The Kendalls chain, with some 80
locations, catered to the womenswear market, complementing the Hepworth Son menswear line. If
Kendalls also complemented Hepworth Son s somewhat stuffy image, the acquisition would serve
as a strong stepping stone for the company s move to transform itself into a full line clothing retailer.
With the Kendalls acquisition, Conran brought in a new chief executive, George Davies, and gave
Davies instructions to reinvent the Kendalls chain. While remaining in the womenswear segment,
Davies turned the company toward sales of company designed and branded merchandise. This
merchandise would be sold under a new name and retail store concept, Next, at the former Kendalls
locations.
The first year of Next brand operations would see a turnover of more than ВЈ82 million. By the
end of 1982, more than 70 Kendalls locations had been converted to the Next concept. The Next

Symbolism In Peace Like A River
In Peace Like a River by Leif Enger, Reuben Land had lost his father. He dearly missed him, and
often was in conflict with his faith in God due to his lost and the miracles he performed. Most
evidently shown in The Curious Music That I Hear, is ... I breathe deeply, and the certainty
enters into me like a light, like a piece of science, and curious music seems to hum inside my
fingers. (311). This is referring to The Land of Nod, a poem written by Robert Louis Stevenson. It
talks of a child falling asleep and being alone until they awake. Futhermore, it places emphasis on
the feeling Reuben had when he last touched his father, Jeremiah, and how Reuben could not join
Jeremiah in Heaven. It was not Reuben s time to die, and Jeremiah had to jump

Western Parenting Vs Western Parenting
To be a parent, by definition, is to be or act as a mother or father to (someone). Success, by
definition, is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Parents should want their child to succeed,
but the way to do it is very controversial and it can stir many arguments and disputes. Eastern
parenting, or Chinese parenting, is very harsh and strict, while Western parenting is a bit more
relaxed. I believe that the best way to raise a child is by using a combination of the Western and
Eastern parenting styles by letting children pursue their interests, preparing them for the future,
and being strict while still understanding every child s limits. First of all, parents should allow
children to pursue their interests and allow them to choose what they want to do, whether it be a
hobby or an academic career. Parents that use the Eastern parenting style, in this case, highly
limit what their child is allowed to do. On the other hand, parents that use the Western parenting
style mostly allow children to do as they please, but it has to be used in moderation. Amy Chua
is a parent that uses the Eastern parenting style, and she highly limits what her children are able
to do, Here are some things that [Chua s] daughters, Sophia and Louisa, were never allowed to
do: attend a sleepover, have a playdate, be in a school play, complain about not being in a school
play, watch TV or play computer games, choose their own extracurricular activities, get any grade

Censorship Of The Media By Herbert Foerstel
The British tradition of censoring speech and press to preserve governmental power and dignity
stems from the 1275 enactment of De Scandalis Magnatum, which initially imposed penalties for
any false talk about the king and later covered such expression about any government officials
[Foerstel, 1998: 4]
Censorship of the media as described by Herbert Foerstel took shape during the reign of King
Edward I. Ever since he made the decision to protect his government from the press the law has
continued to evolve, and while the regulations have since loosened to give the media freedom, the
idea behind the law remains constant. But can censorship be justified in a period, which by law
(Article 10 of the Human Rights Act 1998) offers the right to freedom of speech and acceptance of
opinion and interpretation?
Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right shall include freedom to hold opinions
and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority regardless
of frontiers. [HRA, 1998: Article 10]
Aims of content:
Establishing the advantages and disadvantages of censorship
Finding circumstances in which censorship can be justified in a democracy
Pointing out the dangers with censorship
To use examples, such as the Vietnam War and Page 3 to illustrate the first two points
Censorship is restrictions on communication flows imposed by the government rather than the
media itself or consumers of it... Certainly a desire to

Essay on Rti Act
The much talked about Right to Information Act came into force on October 12. The Union

public scrutiny. The government also claims the new law will help it share power with the

At least, now alert citizens can slow down corrupt officers and politicians.Third, Indian politics
will hopefully mature as more information passes through the hands of political rivals, police,
judiciary, media and the people. The Act will reveal who is exploiting whom and how one can
get justice for the poor and the needy. The judiciary will now have better data to decide against
the corrupt. That sounds so far flung, doesn t it? Let us start from the district level. If the road
leading to your town is washed out in the first rains of the season, you might like to ask who was
given the contract to build that road, at what price and what the terms and conditions were. Was the
contractor related to a Member of Parliament or a member of legislative assembly in that area?
During the building of that road, did any government officer object to any deficiency or
malpractice? Was there any communication in this regard? The concerned departments will have to
come up with answers in the stipulated period.
Some panchayats are run by local goons or the community caste heads. They bully people when
someone raises questions of accounts and money spent. The Sarpanch or development officers are
rarely forthcoming. Now, all resources and their distribution will have to be transparent on paper.
The RTI Act specifies that citizens have a right to: request any information

Hypovolemic Shock Case Study
Hypovolemic shock is an emergency condition caused by loss of whole blood (hemorrhage),
plasma (burns), or interstitial fluid (diaphoresis, diabetes mellitus, diabetes insipidus, emesis,
diuresis, and diarrhea) in large amounts. This makes the heart unable to pump enough blood to the
body (Heller, 2014). The severe compromise in bloodflow and therefore systemic perfusion
contributes to cerebral, renal, or hepatic ischemia and possible organ failure. It is the most common
type of shockin children with dehydration and trauma being the most common factors (McCance,
2010. pp 1703).
Pathophysiology
Hypovolemic shock begins to develop after losing about a fifth or more of the normal amount of
blood in the body resulting in compensatory vasoconstriction, increased SVR (systemic vascular
resistance) and increased afterload in order to improve blood pressure and perfusion to core organs
of the body (Heller, 2014) (McCance, 2010. pp 1672). Compensatory mechanisms have limited use
and benefit.
Hypovolemic compensations:
Systemic vasoconstriction increases left ventricular afterload and myocardial oxygen consumption
and may produce tissue ischemia.
Prolonged tachycardia may impair subendocardial blood flow and increase myocardial oxygen
consumption; both may ultimately contribute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

ventilation, and perfusion). Diligent treatment of fever, fear and pain are necessary to reduce
oxygen demand. Humidified supplementary oxygen is given as needed at up to 10 to 15 L/min by
non rebreathing mask or bag mask ventilation and is monitored continuously through pulse
oximetry (McCance, 2010. pp

Essay On All My Pretty Ones By Anne Sexton
Crumbling under her myriad selves, Anne Sexton s poetry reveals through the journey of words
the labyrinthine setting that resides inside a disturbed mind. Intimate, almost with a sense, similar
to that of trespassing someone s private journals, her works bared her deepest and often darkest
desires for the world to read, scrutinize and often condemn. Poetry for her was a recluse, a
momentary escape route from her otherwise troubled mental state; keeping her more or less sane to
survive the wild, twisted world she built around her.
The genre of Confessional Poetry fit Sexton like a glove. She enrolled for workshops from Robert
Lowell at the Boston University and made close acquaintances with the likes of Sylvia Plath and
George Starbuck, meanwhile enhancing her only too verbally extrovert spirit. Over countless
martinis at the Ritz Carlton, the two women compared suicide attempts, discussed their mutual
enchantment with death, critiqued each other s work, and gossiped over drinks and free potato
chips.*
While studying confessional poetry, it is of key importance to understand that these poems do not

Alluding perhaps in the same vein as Macduff in Shakespeare s tragedy, Macbeth, the collection
chronicles her coming to terms with the vicious circle of life and inevitability hovering over the
living. The twin deaths of Sexton s parents in 1959 (her mother s succeeded by her father s) led
her to cling on to writing for dear life. Her poems thinly conceal her feelings of bitterness towards
them and thus vividly capture the essence of the conflict between holding them responsible for
desolating her and lamenting their loss. Using it as a vehicle to transport herself from these
worldly sufferings, she used poetry as a defense, as a healing ointment to veil the scarring of her

Analysis Of The Film Wadjda
Interested in your father s glorious family tree? You aren t included, it only includes men s
names. In the film Wadjda , directed by Haifaa Al Mansour, a girl named Wadjda from the male
dominated culture of Saudi Arabia sees a green bike that she strives her hardest to own.
Although could the bike be a metaphor for something deeper? Some may say the bike is nothing
more than a plain old bike, but in this essay, I will discuss how and why the green bike
symbolises more than a mere green bike. The focus will be on the significance of the bike, why it
has been chosen to act as the metaphor, and how/why the director has chosen it to show that Wadjda
is subversive.
In the movie, there is a green bike Wadjda desperately wants, although it challenges the norms of
her society. The director Haifaa Al Mansour uses the bike to not only represent a transportation
device, but also a metaphor for freedom. Wadjda s main goal in the movie is to own the bike.
However, ownership of the bike for a girl challenges the cultural norms of Saudi Arabia. This means
that for her to own it, in a sense, signifies breaking through the barrier of the Saudi Arabian
expectations and entering freedom. Thus, making it a metaphor for freedom and equality. The film
director explains this in an interview that came out shortly after the movie in 2012. Why would the
director choose a bike to act as the metaphor, you may ask yourself?
Haifaa Al Mansour uses the bike to act as a metaphor over everything else

The Global Bearing Market For Automotive Bearings
1.Introduction
In 2014, the global bearing market had a value of 75.91 billion dollars with a Compound Annual
Grade Rate (CAGR) of 7.7% from the year of 2014 to 2020. The bearing market is mainly driven
by automotive industry, meaning that if there is an increase of demand of vehicles, it will lead to
an increase of bearings and steel (material used to manufacture the bearings) (PR Newswire, 2014).
In March 2014, the European Commission found irregularities in the market for automotive
bearings. These irregularities consisted of six companies that operated as a cartel for seven years
(April 2004 July 2011) in the European Economic Area. Therefore, the European Commission
penalized the participant companies by imposing fines of € 953,306,000 in total and also
provided an opportunity for reduction when the involved companies agreed to clear up the case
with the Commission. The involved companies were: the Europeans SKF and Schaeffler and the
Japanese JTEKT, NSK, NFC, and NTN (European Commission, 2014).
This paper presents a description of market structure in which the bearing companies operate in
Europe, possible environment that led to collusive behavior, incentives for companies that led them
to participate in cartel and resulting welfare from it. Moreover, the paper also presents an
assessment of Government intervention with costs and benefits analysis and its effects to all
stakeholders. Through this assessment, an argument is carried out on the appropriateness of

My Passion For Medicine
Caring for a child in their moment of need is just one of the countless times when I felt for certain
medicine is my calling. Through volunteering as an emergency room technician and witnessing my
grandfather s decline in health, I realized that I am both passionate and enamored with medicine. I
find myself time and time again, inspired and exhilarated to observe and work with doctors, nurses,
and support staff to help people in their time of need.
My passion for medicine developed starting in the eighth grade. I received a call from my mother
saying my grandfather was being rushed to the emergency room. The doctors explained that he
had severe acute pancreatitis and was being rushed to surgery. As soon as I arrived my
grandfather was being taken into surgery. The feelings of helplessness and despair loomed over
me not knowing if he was going to survive the surgery. He spent over nine months in the intensive
care unit in and out of surgery as well as another year in and out of the hospital. After witnessing
my grandfather s health plunge it lead me to realize I want to be able to care for people and their
families. Seeing the sick and injured in the hospital made me want to take action, I wanted to make
an impact and help these people. From that point on I made a promise to myself to help others and
to leave a positive impact on them.
I went on to take a CPR(cardiopulmonary resuscitation) course which teaches what to do if
someone is in cardiac arrest. Soon after I

Persuasive Essay On Cyberbullies
Fighting Cyberbullies Before technology took over our society, bullying was limited to physical
and verbal harm. Today, technology has allowed bullies to attack someone at anytime and say as
much as they wish. This allows for the victim to read and re read his or her threats over and over
again. When the threats become too harsh, the victim feels unsafe in public areas, such as school,
and the victim misses out on school work and activities. Although there are more serious problems
that should be addressed at school, school officials should fight cyberbullying because dealing with
cyberbullying issues teaches students to become better and stronger people in the future, the
disturbing comments that are made online affect the students mental and emotional health, and
when addressing this issue, both the bully and the victim could be helped. Cyberbullying is the
inappropriate use of the internet, online networks, and social media in which someone attacks an
innocent person using offensive comments and/or pictures. In the past, traditional bullyingwas
limited to harassing people face to face. Outside witnesses could interfere at anytime and stop
situations from getting worse. However, the development of technology has opened the doors for
people to hurt others anonymously. The internet has no boundaries, giving bullies the ability to
harass others as much as they feel. Dealing with cyberbullying issues teaches students to become
better stronger people in the future. It is

How Did Harriet Tubman End Slavery
Tubman: her life battle of ending slavery
If you hear the dogs keep going. If you see the torches in the woods, keep going. If there s
shouting after you keep going. Don t ever stop. If you want a taste of freedom, keep going. Was
once said by Harriet Tubman. Harriet Tubman started out on a farm till she escaped and became
free. During her time as a free slavery she got slaves out of farm, rescued her family, served in the
civil war ,and most important the Underground Railroad. Harriet was involved in the civil war
because of the underground railroad.
Harriet was born into slavery around 1820 her real birthday is unknown but that is what
historians suspect. But in the late 1840s she successfully escape Dorchester County,Maryland
and made her way to Philadelphia. Tubman actually used the Underground Railroad to escape
slavery. Her brothers Harry and Ben went with her when she escaped but got scared and turned
around but she did not. When I found I had crossed that line, I looked at my hands to see if I was
the same person. There was such glory over everything; the sun came like gold through the trees,

Support Kindergarteners Understanding Of Three Dimensional...
This lesson is designed to support kindergarteners understanding of three dimensional shapes. The
students will be able to identify three dimensional shapes, and tell if they stack, slide, or roll.
Before anything was edited from my video it was 1hour long. I edited out the second group/center
doing the same thing I did with the group that is in my video. Starting out I was really nervous
about being in kindergarten, because I have mainly been in the upper grades during clinical and my
first experience of studentteaching. There was a lot I learned from first experience in different
areas where I needed to grow as a future teacher. I took all of the comments from my mentor
teacher and university supervisor, and applied them to this second experience so I could
improve and find other areas I need to strengthen. As I was videoing this lesson I found myself
so focused on the group that I was videoing, that some of the other groups were getting a little
loud. One thing I need to work on is to not let videoing keep me from correcting other students
when they need reminded to stay on task. This is something new that I felt like I struggled with
this second video, because in kindergarten they do centers. When I was in my first experience it
was just I teaching whole group to third graders, and they knew the expectations from their teacher
and myself.
One of my strengths that I have is my voice projection being strong. I have always had a lot voice,

Title Ix And The Law
Gender has always been a starting point for much of the judgement in our society whether we
realize it or not, and it s exactly the causes of one of the many controversies that there is today.
Title IX, the law passed to help overcome prejudice and grant girls the same opportunities as
boys, is getting not only the credit it deserves but much backlash to counter it. The main purpose
of this law was originally to give girls the opportunity to play the same sports as boys were able
to, and thanks to the law girls are now given these opportunities to play sports in addition to also
give many transgenderstudents more rights within the schools than ever before. Even with all these

Most don t explicitly look into the complexity of a transgender person s life and all the questions
or problems one might face: Do I use the men s or the women s bathroom? Is it appropriate to use

a daily basis because of how others would see the situation, how the people who may have a
sneaking suspicion that the woman they saw go into the ladies bathroom isn t actually female by
their definition, or how it could also seem strange to see that same person go into the mens
bathroom. These all lead to dysphoria in any person s situation in public places due to the fact that
many choose to taunt or mock the person; however, with the help of Title IX these questions could
start to vanish from the thoughts of many transgender students which Blad exemplifies with a quote

The Importance Of Raising The Driving Age
Did you know that 33% of teen deaths are caused by traffic accidents? Most teens that die in traffic
accidents each year are2 16 20 years of age. Should they raise the driving age, or make you hold
your learner s permit longer? I feel they should make you hold your learner s permit longer to make
you a more experienced driver.
Teens drive less hours than almost all other drivers but they have the highest crash rates and
crash deaths than all other drivers. Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teens.
In 2013, 2,163 teens ages 16 19 were killed and 243,243 were treated in the emergency room for
injuries suffered in motor vehicle crashes. That means that six teens died every day from injuries
sustained in a vehicle crash.

I have a question for all of you to answer: When you got your learner s permit, did you drive all
the hours required to get your licenses or did you wait and fill them all out at the end? If most of
you were like me, you drove every possible day you could but that doesn t mean you got all of
your hours completed. A simple way to fix this problem is to make new drivers hold their
learners longer. I feel that another good reason to make people hold their learner s permits longer
is that it may help lower teen death rates and accidents which means more young people being
able to go home to see their families at the end of the day. If you have more experience driving it
helps you to make wiser and more mature decisions. You are then less likely to text and drive.
Texting while driving is more dangerous than drunk driving because drunk drivers are at least
looking at the road. I feel that holding a learner s permit for at least one year would help to make
sure that young drivers have the hours needed to be a safe

Indemnity health plans run on a retrospective payment system. A member has a monthly premium.
Co pays and a deductible. Upon visits the provider submits claims for services rendered to the
insurance company, upon which the insurance company pays their part and the member is billed
for the remaining balance to be paid out of pocket.
With indemnity plans employers deduct the monthly premium from payroll of each employee on
the plan. Both the member and the insurance company pay for services rendered. Upon receipt of
the services the insurer pays the provider their portion if the deductible has been met. The member
is then responsible for the remaining balance and the co pay at the time of service.
The structure of an indemnity plan is completely open access . The member may choose any
provider or specialist they would like. In an indemnity plan there are no restrictions on providers
or provider type. It is the member s responsibility to seek and sign on with their preferred provider
or specialist.
Positive aspects of indemnity plans include the liberty of the member to choose their preferred
provider or specialist and their preference of type of care they wish to receive. A negative aspect of
indemnity plans from a members stand point is the cost of these plans. Premiums and deductibles
then to be higher with indemnity plans over other insurance plans due to the freedom

“the Minister’s Son in His Conceited Impotence Violates...
The minister s son in his conceited impotence violates Tess more cruelly than her sensual lover
Discuss.
In Thomas Hardy s Tess of the d Urbervilles (published in 1891), Hardy portrays his heroine, Tess,
as an innocent and poor country girl; a symbolic version of the rural women of the era who were
mercilessly down trodden in a male dominated world, and who, when abused, were blamed for
it. This novel has evoked generations of readers sympathy because of Hardy s portrayal of Tess s
tragic fate and her life journey as a victim of both individuals and the society she was born into.
Since the first publication of this novel many critics have analyzed the source of Tess tragedy and
downfall.
This essay intends to analyze the novel to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This view of Tess is a stark contrast to the way in which Alec viewed Tess. To Alec Tess was seen
as a prize, his focus was physical. It was because of this that he behaved and spoke in such a
sexual way well, my big Beauty . There are moments throughout the first half of the novel however,
when Alec fancies that he would like to love Tess, but every time Tess shows that she does not
love him; he does not seem to care Tess, why do you always dislike my kissing you? I suppose
because I don t love you . Tess was not emotionally attached to Alec. Throughout their dialogue is
the suggestion that Alec could see that she would never love him you ll never love me I fear. I
have said so often. It is true. I have never really and truly loved you, and I think I never can . In
opposition to the suggestion that Alec may want to love Tess, she is continually treated as if a
prize animal remember my lady, I have been your master once I will be your master again . Tess
feelings towards Angel however, were those of intimacy, affection and love. She was prepared to
give him her life I have been hoping, longing, praying, to make you happy! I have thought what
joy it will be to do it, what an unworthy wife I shall be if I do not! That s what I have felt, Angel! ,

Questioning the Meaning of Life Essay
`Where did we come from? , `Why are we here? , `Where are we going? . These are questions
which surface, centre stage, at some point in most people s lives. For philosophers, and others, they
constitute the core problem known traditionally as the Meaning of Life.
It might be thought that the first task in considering the question of the `Meaning of Life is to define
the key terms: `Life and `Meaning . However, the meanings of `Meaning are many; and `Life
itself could be seen as not so much a separate entity, but rather, the totality of those meanings to
which I have alluded. Anyway, I shall take `Life in this context to mean HUMAN life, and the
meaning of this life as, specifically, the condition of our existence so far as we bring ... Show more

Sometimes it is taken as equivalent to `the value of life , or that in virtue of which life is worth
living. It may also be taken to refer to the nature of the human condition how it is with us, how we
FEEL about life. Nevertheless, to the extent that questions about the `Why of life may be seen as
concerned with the value of life (`What makes life worth living? ), they are therefore related to the
ethical.
Pessimism is a possible answer to the question of life s meaning: life is devoid of meaning in the
sense of worth. Pessimism or optimism may be thought merely an attitude people have towards life,
something having no objective validity; the optimist sees the bottle as half full, the pessimist sees it
half empty and that s all there is about it. But, while some of our attitudes towards things are
unreasoned others are not. A pessimist may have arguments for pessimism: one philosopher
actually claimed to have proven that the moments of pleasure in anyone s life are always greatly
out numbered by the moments of pain. Conversely, there can be reasoned arguments against
pessimism.
Accounts of the human condition may combine both pessimism and optimism. The Christian
doctrine of the Fall of Man, for example, is essentially a pessimistic assessment of life here in this

How Does Read Literature Like A Professor Chapter Responses
How to Read Literature Like a Professor Chapter Responses
Introduction: How d He Do That? The recognition of patterns makes it much easier to read
complicated literature because recognizing patterns will help you relate two or more pieces of
literature together, therefore making it easier to understand and analyze the literature you are
focused on. Patterns in literature can help the reader understand plots, settings, themes, and other
literary elements. I greatly appreciated the novel, Brave New Worldbecause of how different the
society in the novel was from the one I live in. Using the Signposts from Notice and Note, I was
able to see contrast and contradictions that enhanced my understanding of the book. I noticed how I
was expecting Bernard, in Brave New World to be just like everybody else in the novel but instead
he was a normal person that felt normal human emotions, such as the longing for love, that the other
characters just did not feel. He also felt isolated and alone. Bernard thinks in a way we were not
expecting. Patterns such as this helped me, the reader, to better understand literary elements.

The Earthly Sanctuary
Introduction
God gave very specific instructions to Moses regarding the establishment of the earthly
sanctuary. These instructions were given in order to maintain the covenant relationship with
God. In Exodus 19:5 6 it is written, Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep my
covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine;
and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation . Evidently, God desired for the
people of Israel to be set apart, a people that functioned and behaved differently to those around
them. Moreover, they were to be a kingdom of priests that were His representatives on earth. Within
this covenant relationship, God established laws and regulations, part of which is this scripture
regarding the veil, a divide between the outer tabernacle and the Holy of Holies, the place where
God was enthroned on earth .
Them
Therefore, the Mosaic Law was unique and exclusive to the people of Israel; it was to regulate how
they functioned as a nation. As such, the law holds much more significance to the ancient Israelites
to whom it was given. In fact most contemporary Christians seldom know how to apply the
Mosaic Law in a modern context. Thus it is important for us to examine the historical context
around the scripture. The ancient Israelites had been 430 years in Egypt , and had been enslaved
for 215 of those years . Jackson writes, when the children of Israel came into the desolate region of

The new Fladeboes factory will open up in Palmdale Ca. This location was selected because of
its dry weather; it has low levels of precipitation, and is close enough to Los Angeles to be

would be very easy to step into the foreign market. As this product would be marketed primarily
to old people, California has such a heavy population and a large part of that population consists

dry climate, and thus would not cost as much to open a factory there. Also, due to the relatively
low unemployment rate in California areas, it would be quite simple to find workers for the
factory, as well as supervisors for the workers. In addition, there is a recent major push in
California for people to be healthy, organic foods and exercise is a major motto of the Los
Angeles people as well as the suburban areas outside the city. Therefore people would be
interested in the product, as it could track their health on a daily basis and could be marketed in
local health shops. The market in California for this product is huge, there is a common
stereotype that most people in Los Angeles areas are well to do and could definitely afford the

First of all, financial institutions were rare in Britain at this time. Therefore, it was very hard to
find an investor in order to buy machines and equipment. Once again, networking practices were
crucial to contact aristocrats who were willing to lend money. Another financial problem is
related to the lack of standards and tools to run a business at this time. As Wedgwood explained
during the vase madness period, the financial health of the company was in peril even if they
sold a considerable amount of vases. In fact, he bought a lot of raw materials but in the same
time his business partner didn t collect quite quickly the bills. This situation influenced
negatively the liquid assets of Wedgwood s business. As Wedgwood and Bentley were afraid of
making the same mistake in the future, they created a price book of workmanship and separate

Effects of Aerobic Exercise on Heart Rate
The Effects of Aerobic Exercise on Heart Rate
Introduction: Our bodies need to be in balance in order to function properly, and there are many
ways the body maintains balance, or homeostasis. Homeostasis is the maintenance of nearly
constant conditions in the internal environment. Our normal heart rate is an example of our body in
homeostasis and any sort of change, or stimulus, can alter it. Exercise, adrenaline in the blood, and a
low blood pH are all stimuli that increase the heart rate. Exercise, for example, stimulates stretch
receptors in the muscles. These receptors then send a signal to a part of the brain called the medulla
oblongata that receives the sensory input. It then in turn sends nerve impulses to the sinoatrial node

I m A Social ( Network ) Drinker
Your identity is something that reflects your background and culture, and shows who you are. It s
something that is always changing as you meet new people, move to new places, or simply could
just change out of the blue. In the article I m a Social (network) Drinker: Alcohol Related Facebook
Posts, Drinking Identity, and Alcohol Use, the authors looked at the associations between social
media and alcohol use and how they affect our identity. Because we are all human,we are all trying
to be accepted by society, which causes people to shape their identities to the certain situation.
Drinking identity is a concept that I was rather unfamiliar with until this article. It is defined in this
study as a component of identity that is associated with heavier drinking and more negative
alcohol related consequences (107). Drinking identity is basically how alcohol affects your way of
living. Everyone s drinking identities are different because it is based on how much we drink, what
we drink, how often, etc. Drinking identity is used in this study to determine if people with higher
drinking identities post more on social media, or are more open with their drinking, whereas people
with lower drinking identities would post less.
The authors started this study off by getting access to 109 undergraduate students, dominantly
female, who were all pulled from their psychology class and offered credit for doing this
experiment. The study page sent out friend requests to all participants

Do You Agree with the View That Mary Seacole , and Not...
Do you agree with the view that Mary Seacole , and not Florence Nightingale , was the real angle
of mercy during the Crimean War?
During the Crimean war, both Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale showed aspects of being
angels. The word angel suggests a heavenly person who is attentive to the soldiers needs, and
mercy means showing kindness and forgiveness, and the angel of mercy basically suggests a
compassionated and kind hearted person who empathizes and helps soldiers in need. Although
Nightingale had showed the aspects of being an angel of mercy , the amount of work and
commitment Seacole had put in outweighs Nightingale s; therefore I believe Mary Seacole deserves
the title of the real angel of mercy .

Sutherland and Dr. Grainger, and still Nightingale took all the credit. Even though, Nightingale
has made positive impacts on the course of the war and paved a way for improving in the nursing
field, her actions aren t enough to fit the image of an angel of mercy , since she was a harsh, cold
woman who criticized her own nurses and only checked the patients from a distance, completely
neglecting the importance of consoling and communicating with the soldiers, as it is also shown on
the source U on the lithograph Nightingale is seen leading the wounded; however, she keeps a
distance inbetween. This shows that Nightingale is recognized through the image of the clean
organized ward, rather than a kind hearted and compassionated nurse treating the patients, and the
angel of mercy ought to provide both physical and mental needs to the soldier as the title says,
since they will not only suffer physical attacks but will also be mentally affected by the war, and
Nightingale failed to provide mental treatment.
On the other hand, Mary Seacole s engagements fit the image of the angel of mercy and source V
praises Seacole and her involvement during the war, despite being rejected by the British
authorities due to her race and background. She went to Crimea by herself to help the wounded,

The statement that famine is an unavoidable act of God and can only be helped by sending food
relief is only true in terms of an inefficient society. Famine in developed countries is absolutely
unheard of. The free market will not allow famine to occur because if a country is producing
efficiently, it will be actively involved in trade with other countries or other regions. Take the
example of the two farmers above. These villages are able to trade freely and would develop
businesses that provide good and services to each other, as well as save and reinvest in their
villages. If such an act occurred in which village one was unable to produce wheat, the price of
wheat would increase to support the reduction in supply. The market would reach an equilibrium
in which the demand would meet supply at a certain price. This equilibrium will prevent a
shortage of wheat on the market. Wheat will become more valuable and the demand will go
down. Depending on what kind of demand exists outside of the wheat producing village, the
village may be able to get more corn or other services in exchange for its more valuable wheat.
However, if the government of the nation above has implemented a price ceiling policy on the
price of wheat in an effort to make wheat affordable to everyone, famine could strike. In this
instance, some occurrence would prevent village

This inhibition at low concentrations prevented bone denigration and kept a healthy proliferation
rate of bone cells. This process was tracked with F ALN to demonstrate that ALN was taken into
cells from cell surface into bone marrows in the replanted teeth and into osteoblastic cells in vitro.
Local ALN treatment enhanced the growth of bone forming cells adjacent to the bone surfaces in
the in vivo model. Results were consistently affirming that N BPs can directly affect the osteoblast
growth and proliferation. This study found that 3 day treatment using rat osteoblastic cells with
ALN at an early differentiation stage induced upregulation of osteocalcin expression and
mineralization and a later differentiation stage. Treatment with high ALN concentrations caused
harmful effects with decreased cell viability and inhibition of cell differentiation. Bone formation
may be mediated directly by incorporation of ALN through inhibition of mevalonate pathway. N

to stop wasting so much food. My mother and father every weekend go out and buy a weeks

Analysis Of Annette Lareau s Unequal Childhoods
After reading Annette Lareau s book, Unequal Childhoods , I gain a better understanding of how
my childhood affected the person I am today and the person I will become. This book
categorizes Americans in classes of poor class, working class, and middle class; Lareau studies
multiple families in each of these classes, including different races. In the following essay, I will
apply the same concepts Lareau used in her book to my own life.
Daily Life My Mother, Dawn, grew up in a working class family with her parents separated and
trying to make ends meet with her Dad and two siblings. She graduated high school and went on to
work at McDonalds for a few years, before she got married. My father, Jerry, grew up poor
moving different houses every year with his mom, step dad, and five other siblings. His father
died when he was three and his step father died when he was about thirteen. Jerry dropped out of
high school without completing the ninth grade so he could work to provide for his mom and

Brittany. In the same year my family moved into a predominantly white neighborhood in the
town of Okalona, right by the busy streets of Preston Highway and Outer Loop. The house is
brick and was built in the early 1940 s, it is two stories with four bedrooms and two baths, with
two garages, a swimming pool, and big back yard, the house sits on .94 acres of land. Jerry
worked as a painter in the union since he was 16 and always had the aspirations of owning his
own business. Dawn stayed home to care for the home and the children. Two years after Brittany
was born, they had another daughter named Ashley in January of 1990. At this point Jerry was
still working at the Union as a painter and was attempting to start his own painting business. In
1993, Jerry was contracted with a construction company building 20 new houses a year, this was
the start of his painting company. All through the 90 s and early 2000 s Jerry and his paint crew
were working seven days a week painting store after store and house after house. He had three

Our business has come to a solid state, and is time for us to develop into Argentina and Brazil.
At year three, we will move into Argentina by using agents or distributor s method. By
appointing a local agent or distributors as they can understand the local culture and also able to
support for positioning brands in the market through promotion and advertising. Besides that, we
need to understand the civil and commercial codes govern principal agent relations and contrast
from U.S laws. It is strongly advice to consult with a local lawyer for any type of substantive
negotiation of the terms of the agreement. (INSTITUTE, 2016)Same method will be use in Brazil
on the following year. This will help the company to reduce the cost of market development and
operating cost. Several obstructions for developing in Brazil due to regional economic disparities,
a few states of infrastructure, and a host of other issues, most of the time is tough to find one
distributor that has complete national coverage. So the U.S. Commercial Service strongly suggests
that U.S. companies consult with a Brazilian law firm before signing any agreement to avoid

The Third Of May 1808 Analysis
3 Paintings Why they continue to be important In today s society we are losing touch of
importance of art and with the advance of technology and modern media it is causing a lack of
appreciation for works of art. In this paper I am going to show 3 Art pieces that each have their
own realm of importance and unique way of effecting the world. An artist by the name of
Jackson Pollock painted the one most valuable painting ever recorded in America. it was sold in
America by the Hollywood entertainment mogul to David Geffen for $140 million. It s not just
the price it sold for that makes it so unique. Jackson Pollock would place his canvas on the ground
and pace around it, applying paint by dripping it from hardened brushes, sticks, and basting... Show

The painting The Third of May 1808 commemorates a dark moment in history and portrays the
brutality from France. It represents a bloody encounter that took place between the French army
and the people of Madrid who rose up against them. 20th century art critic Robert Hughes wrote,
Most of the victims have faces. The killers do not. This is one of the most often noted aspects of
the Third of May, and rightly so: with this painting, the modern image of war as anonymous
killing is born, and a long tradition of killing as ennobled spectacle comes to its overdue end.
Framing an important moments in any history requires a vivid way to capture the moment and
with this painting it was perfectly done to almost feel as if you were there. Not just history but
even the beauty of nature can be captured by art. A painting such as Starry Night by Vincent Van
Gogh captures the mystery and beauty of the night s sky. This painting shows the view while he
was in an Asylum and was done entirely from his memory. That s not even the most amazing thing
about this painting, he even accidently painted Venus s turbulent flows before it was
discovered.Starry night s lights flicker from the way your brain reacts to it creating a sense of

History of Database Technology
History of Database Technology Past and Present
The term database was popularized with the growth of the computer industry and is typically
thought of as software used to store, index, manipulate, and retrieve information (Vaughn).
Database software has been in use since the Census Bureau used a punch card system to meet the
requirements for the collection, sorting, and reporting of data for the 1890 census (National
Research Council). These earliest databases were flat file databases. The flat file style of database
works well for small amounts of data that need to be organized to be read and edited by hand.
Flat file databases are made up of tables that store a set number of characters in each field. The
individual tables are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the most part these two are relatively similar. IDEA is an excellent data manipulating utility
that permits auditors to translate data files to or from word processors, relational databases,
spreadsheets, and integrated accounting systems using a number of data formats. The purpose of
IDEA is to allow external auditors to examine and sample extracted data files. IDEA software
incorporates a database that produces statistics and summaries, by extracting data that meets a
specified criterion being queried. The user can then browse through data displaying it graphically,
or by printing custom designed reports.
The ACL software uses a combination of data access, analysis and integrated reporting capabilities,
to reach data from virtually any source, across any system, through a consistent user interface. ACL
technology enables audit, financial, and control professionals to gain immediate insight into
transactional data underlying their business processes and financial reporting.
Another frequently used CAATT is the Generalized Audit Software (GAS), which allows data to
be extracted and analyzed. The main reasons for the widespread use of GAS is that it requires
very little specialized information systems knowledge, and its adaptability to a variety of
environments and users. Although auditors often have some degree of difficulty in preparing the
data for its first use, the end results is that it

Governesses Represented An Unusual Social Class Essay
Governesses represented an unusual social class in Victorian culture. They were often women
belonging to the middle class, however, they had a central role in the upbringing of upper class
children and the construction of Victorian education and ideals. Despite their significance within
the homes of wealthy families, many governesses were treated with suspicion and fear. This
paper, however, seeks to analyze several notable governess representations as well as to
understand how these various depictions (from homewrecker governess to asexual, unsexed
governess) were employed to construct, conceal, and obscure the classed sexuality of the
governesses. The governess in the painting Looking for the Mail Packet , Miss Prism in The
Importance of Being Earnest, Mrs. Vesey in The Woman in White, portray governesses as
superfluous to the home and neglectful of their charges, lacking in sexual desirability, and utterly
unsophisticated. Some governesses, including Miss Prism, are described as women who seek to
destabilize the Victorian home Г la prostitutes and other undesirable women. No matter the case,
the governess as a Victorian figure was often not painted in a positive light in these texts. It is
important to consider the implications such portrayals because they can illuminate for modern
readers the ways in which the Victorian erapoliced and proscribed sexuality. The governess and her
role matters because she represents the social policing of womanhood as well as the

the company failed to meet its president s expectations. FFL profit for 2010 was below budget due

The Role Of The Titans In Greek Mythology
The Titans had very important roles and contributions to Greek Mythology as it is known today.
Many have heard of Greek Mythology, but with very little Information and understanding of these
certain Greek Gods, who had a major factor in the rise of mysticism. Because of their certain
powers and upbringing, Titans had major roles in the society. Without having a major part in the
formation , Greek Mythologymay have not been the same. The Titans originally consisted of twelve
gods and goddesses: Six male and six females, who were inherited by Gaea (Mother Earth) and
Uranus (Father Jupiter). The Titans were Kronos, Iapetus, Hyperion, Oceanus, Coeus, Creus, Theia,
Rhea, Mnemosyne, Phoebe, Tethys, and Themis. Kronus, the youngest among the Titans,

Negative Stereotypes Of Gamers
Imagine a world where you can fight dragons in medieval times, be a soldier in WWI, or build a
fortress while gathering resources to survive a zombie apocalypse. Gamers can experience all of
this and more through the world of video games, but many people have developed false perceptions
of who the gamer community consists of. These false perceptions have only formed negative
stereotypes for the gamingcommunity, but the truth is gamers can be anyone.
Stereotype, as defined by the Oxford English Dictionary, is A preconceived and oversimplified
idea of the characteristics which typify a person, situation, etc.; an attitude based on such a
preconception . The gaming community has been labeled with several stereotypes such as all
gamers are immature teenage boys, no life losers, obese, or socially awkward individuals. All of
these stereotypes are far from the truth of what the real gamer community consists of.
So what exactly is a gamer? Gamers are a community of individuals of all ages and gender with
one similar interest in video games. Not every gamer is an immature teenage boy, but this is
what many people think of when they hear the word gamer. I am a 29 year old female, and I
consider myself to be an active member of the gaming community. I play console and PC games
on a daily basis, and I am just one example of why these stereotypes are misconceptions of reality.
Many people are shocked when I tell them I love video games, but why is this such a shock? It all is

Introduction
In this essay I will be discussing the importance of echocardiography in clinical practice as they are
used for screening, diagnosis, guiding treatment, assessing recovery and monitoring care. I will be
discussing the principles in which make echocardiography possible, the importance of selecting the
correct electromedical technique, the advantages and disadvantages and the clinical constraints
which may occur within different patient groups.
Echocardiography is routinely used in the diagnosis, management, and follow up of patients with

Sound consists of oscillating waves of compression and decompression of a transmitting medium
i.e. air or water, traveling at a fixed velocity (StГёylen, 2015). The frequency of sound waves
refers to the number oscillations per second, with one cycle per second is considered a unit of 1
hertz (Henderson, 2014). Sound waves oscillating above 20,000 Hz are categorised as ultrasound
waves. As sound waves are a transverse wave forms this means the only variant is its frequency and
wavelength despite the location in the spectrum. The wavelength is defined as the distance
travelled by sound in one cycle, or the distance between two identical points in the wave cycle i.e.
the distance from each oscillation (Cura RodriМЃguez, SeguiМЃ and Nicolau, 2012). In regards to
wave forms the wavelength shows very little significance as it is inversely proportional to frequency.
In reference to the structure a waveform, the significance of the wavelength is one of the main
factors affecting the resolution of an ultrasound image, this is because smaller wavelengths (higher
frequency) are absorbed more by soft tissue. This variable absorption rate with structures of
different impedances allows distinctive structures to be clearly represented. In echocardiography,
the wavelengths are often manipulated in order to view deeper structures within the patient but
compromising with resolution. In principle of

The Most Influential Writers Of The Twentieth Century
Through out Frank Kafka s life he wrote many German novels and short stories. Kafka has been
known to be one of the most influential writers of the twentieth century. From Kafka s writing
he shows that what we go through influences in our life influences what we write and how we
write and that sometimes the things we go through are so hard that we need to write in allegory.
He was born on July 3, 1883 in Bohemia. He was born into a middle class German speaking
Jewish family and was the eldest of six children. His two younger brothers died at a very young
age and his sisters were sent to a concentration camp and were thought to have died there. After
Kafka graduated high school, he was accepted to the Charles University of Prague and studied
law. This is where he met Max Brod and they became very good friends. Kafka graduated
university with a degree in Doctor of Law on June 18,1906. He started working at Workers
Accident Insurance Institute in Bohemia. He gained several promotions through the years that
he worked there but was also very committed to his writing. In 1917 Kafka began to suffer from
tuberculosis that would require a lot of time for recovering. Surrounding him self with his
family as he was trying to get better. In 1923 he moved to Berlin to try and get some writing done.
This is where He fell in Weir 2 love with a girl named Dora Diamond. However, Kafka s

BUSN WK6 Assignment Analysis
BUSN WK6 ASSIGNMENT The main approach would be for the board to provide a strategic
plan set in place for the nonprofit organization and its mission. Once the funds have been
allocated, it is the responsibility of the CEO/Executive Director to see that those funds are
applied as assigned. All funds disbursed for day to day operations, weekly and monthly are
tallied. If the forecast for a certain program was over estimated, the CEO/Executive Director can
inform the board and suggest other avenues for unassigned funds. It also presents itself in the
form of first hand knowledge, like being on the front line and reporting back to headquarters of the
current positions. CEO/Executive Directors in the nonprofit sector are focused and balanced at the
same time for maximum success. Lacking knowledge on finances, most executive directors need
to know what financial information is essential. Having that information or financial statements in
an understandable format and knowing how to analyze those reports to assess the financial health
of the organization is crucial for making programming decisions and financial goals. (Brickman,
P. 2005). This information of analysis is transferred to staff for proper processing. Some programs

Essay Justice in the Oresteia
Justice in the Oresteia
Justice is often taken for granted in the world we live in today with a judicial system that gives
fair punishment for most crimes. In the Oresteia justice works much differently, where there are
no judges or a court system to resolve disputes, instead there is revenge. Revenge is very messy
because somebody will and has to get hurt first to desire revenge, and it leads to a cycle that
cannot and will not end until everybody is dead. Justice does not and cannot only be revenge
because in the end nobody would be left in that system. Aeschylus Oresteia focuses on revenge as
justice, with the old system that no longer works and that someone must fix, and a new system that

Clytemnestra also gives her justification for murdering her husband, and for ten long years she
thought about how sweet revenge would be when Agamemnon arrived. She also tells her lover,
Aegisthus, Our lives are based on pain (1690). Clytemnestra does not realize how ironic her
statement will be later on when pain controls her. Aegisthus sums up their code of justice when
he says, There are gods in heaven avenging men, / blazing down on all the crimes of earth (1607
1608). He also is foreshadowing that his crime must also be paid for and he will suffer the
consequences of killing Agamemnon and revenge. Aegisthus does not realize it, but Orestes is
seeking revenge upon him and his for the death of Agamemnon. After Orestes kills them, there
is nobody left alive to kill him to avenge their deaths. Clytemnestra invokes the Furies who seek
revenge for anybody who has nobody to seek it for them. The Furies chase Orestes to Apollo s
temple where Orestes asks him for forgiveness, Lord Apollo, you know the rules of justice,
/ know them well. Now learn compassion (88 89). Orestes is the first person who is trying to
change the system and realizes it must be changed for the gods and the Furies to spare his life.

  • 2. The United Nations Stabilization Mission Essay The term United Nations was, according to the UN s official website, coined by United States president Franklin Roosevelt in the context of the fact that the nations were united against the Axis forces in World War Two. In 1945, the United Nations officially started with fifty one states as its members. Since then, the United Nationshas grown greatly to nearly 200 state members. The United Nations has several specific purposes that it tries to fulfill. First, its primary goal is to maintain international peace and security. According to the UN s website, there are five main ways that it fulfills this purpose. First by preventing conflict before it even starts specifically with diplomatic discussions and actions in a peaceful manner. Second, the UN maintains international security with peace keeping organizations. For example, the UN currently is working as the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti to not only help with the rebuilding after the devastating earthquakes but also simply maintain peace in the country. In addition to working in preventative and peacekeeping ways, the United Nations also works towards peace with Peace Building activities, such as its work in Burundi until 2012. The United nations fourth way it maintains peace is by combating terrorism which is arguably the opposite of peace. In the United Nations plan of action for combating terrorism, it states that its members will consistently, unequivocally and strongly condemn terrorism in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Next PLC Next plc designs, manufactures, and distributes clothing and home furnishing and accessory items to nearly 330 Next retail stores and through the company s Next Directory mail order sales catalog. Almost all of Next company owned stores are located in England and Ireland. After ending a brief international expansion in 1999 the company closed its seven company owned foreign stores, including its five U.S. retail stores Next has shifted its international strategy to brandexpansion focused on franchising. Next operates franchises in some 20 international markets, especially in the Middle Eastern and Far East Asian markets. The difficult economic climate in the Asian markets in the late 1990s has curtailed the Next franchise expansion,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The company would long remain a mainstay of the United Kingdom s high street shopping districts. Hepworth Son s continued expansion led the company to go public in 1948. By the late 1970s, however, Hepworth Son had begun to suffer from old age pains and, especially, from its conservative image. Led by chairman Terence Conran, however, Hepworth Son made a bold move to remake itself completely at the start of the 1980s. In 1981 the company acquired the Kendalls retail store chain. The Kendalls chain, with some 80 locations, catered to the womenswear market, complementing the Hepworth Son menswear line. If Kendalls also complemented Hepworth Son s somewhat stuffy image, the acquisition would serve as a strong stepping stone for the company s move to transform itself into a full line clothing retailer. With the Kendalls acquisition, Conran brought in a new chief executive, George Davies, and gave Davies instructions to reinvent the Kendalls chain. While remaining in the womenswear segment, Davies turned the company toward sales of company designed and branded merchandise. This merchandise would be sold under a new name and retail store concept, Next, at the former Kendalls locations. The first year of Next brand operations would see a turnover of more than ВЈ82 million. By the end of 1982, more than 70 Kendalls locations had been converted to the Next concept. The Next sales ... • 4. Symbolism In Peace Like A River In Peace Like a River by Leif Enger, Reuben Land had lost his father. He dearly missed him, and often was in conflict with his faith in God due to his lost and the miracles he performed. Most evidently shown in The Curious Music That I Hear, is ... I breathe deeply, and the certainty enters into me like a light, like a piece of science, and curious music seems to hum inside my fingers. (311). This is referring to The Land of Nod, a poem written by Robert Louis Stevenson. It talks of a child falling asleep and being alone until they awake. Futhermore, it places emphasis on the feeling Reuben had when he last touched his father, Jeremiah, and how Reuben could not join Jeremiah in Heaven. • 5. Western Parenting Vs Western Parenting To be a parent, by definition, is to be or act as a mother or father to (someone). Success, by definition, is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Parents should want their child to succeed, but the way to do it is very controversial and it can stir many arguments and disputes. Eastern parenting, or Chinese parenting, is very harsh and strict, while Western parenting is a bit more relaxed. I believe that the best way to raise a child is by using a combination of the Western and Eastern parenting styles by letting children pursue their interests, preparing them for the future, and being strict while still understanding every child s limits. First of all, parents should allow children to pursue their interests and allow them to choose what they want to do, whether it be a hobby or an academic career. Parents that use the Eastern parenting style, in this case, highly limit what their child is allowed to do. On the other hand, parents that use the Western parenting style mostly allow children to do as they please, but it has to be used in moderation. Amy Chua is a parent that uses the Eastern parenting style, and she highly limits what her children are able to do, Here are some things that [Chua s] daughters, Sophia and Louisa, were never allowed to do: attend a sleepover, have a playdate, be in a school play, complain about not being in a school play, watch TV or play computer games, choose their own extracurricular activities, get any grade less than an A, not be ... • 6. Censorship Of The Media By Herbert Foerstel The British tradition of censoring speech and press to preserve governmental power and dignity stems from the 1275 enactment of De Scandalis Magnatum, which initially imposed penalties for any false talk about the king and later covered such expression about any government officials [Foerstel, 1998: 4] Censorship of the media as described by Herbert Foerstel took shape during the reign of King Edward I. Ever since he made the decision to protect his government from the press the law has continued to evolve, and while the regulations have since loosened to give the media freedom, the idea behind the law remains constant. But can censorship be justified in a period, which by law (Article 10 of the Human Rights Act 1998) offers the right to freedom of speech and acceptance of opinion and interpretation? Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right shall include freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority regardless of frontiers. [HRA, 1998: Article 10] Aims of content: Establishing the advantages and disadvantages of censorship Finding circumstances in which censorship can be justified in a democracy Pointing out the dangers with censorship To use examples, such as the Vietnam War and Page 3 to illustrate the first two points Censorship is restrictions on communication flows imposed by the government rather than the media itself or consumers of it... • 8. Essay on Rti Act The much talked about Right to Information Act came into force on October 12. The Union government says the Act is revolutionary, as it opens all official departments across the country to public scrutiny. The government also claims the new law will help it share power with the humblest, and empower the weakest The Right to Information (RTI) Act is a law enacted by the Parliament of India to provide for setting out the practical regime of right to information for citizens. It was passed by Parliament on 15 June 2005 and came fully into force on 13 October 2005. The RTI Act mandates timely response to citizen requests for governmentinformation. At least, now alert citizens can slow down corrupt officers and politicians.Third, Indian politics will hopefully mature as more information passes through the hands of political rivals, police, judiciary, media and the people. The Act will reveal who is exploiting whom and how one can get justice for the poor and the needy. The judiciary will now have better data to decide against the corrupt. That sounds so far flung, doesn t it? Let us start from the district level. If the road leading to your town is washed out in the first rains of the season, you might like to ask who was given the contract to build that road, at what price and what the terms and conditions were. Was the contractor related to a Member of Parliament or a member of legislative assembly in that area? During the building of that road, did any government officer object to any deficiency or malpractice? Was there any communication in this regard? The concerned departments will have to come up with answers in the stipulated period. Some panchayats are run by local goons or the community caste heads. They bully people when someone raises questions of accounts and money spent. The Sarpanch or development officers are rarely forthcoming. Now, all resources and their distribution will have to be transparent on paper. The RTI Act specifies that citizens have a right to: request any information ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Hypovolemic Shock Case Study Hypovolemic shock is an emergency condition caused by loss of whole blood (hemorrhage), plasma (burns), or interstitial fluid (diaphoresis, diabetes mellitus, diabetes insipidus, emesis, diuresis, and diarrhea) in large amounts. This makes the heart unable to pump enough blood to the body (Heller, 2014). The severe compromise in bloodflow and therefore systemic perfusion contributes to cerebral, renal, or hepatic ischemia and possible organ failure. It is the most common type of shockin children with dehydration and trauma being the most common factors (McCance, 2010. pp 1703). Pathophysiology Hypovolemic shock begins to develop after losing about a fifth or more of the normal amount of blood in the body resulting in compensatory vasoconstriction, increased SVR (systemic vascular resistance) and increased afterload in order to improve blood pressure and perfusion to core organs of the body (Heller, 2014) (McCance, 2010. pp 1672). Compensatory mechanisms have limited use and benefit. Hypovolemic compensations: Systemic vasoconstriction increases left ventricular afterload and myocardial oxygen consumption and may produce tissue ischemia. • 10. Essay On All My Pretty Ones By Anne Sexton Crumbling under her myriad selves, Anne Sexton s poetry reveals through the journey of words the labyrinthine setting that resides inside a disturbed mind. Intimate, almost with a sense, similar to that of trespassing someone s private journals, her works bared her deepest and often darkest desires for the world to read, scrutinize and often condemn. Poetry for her was a recluse, a momentary escape route from her otherwise troubled mental state; keeping her more or less sane to survive the wild, twisted world she built around her. The genre of Confessional Poetry fit Sexton like a glove. She enrolled for workshops from Robert Lowell at the Boston University and made close acquaintances with the likes of Sylvia Plath and George Starbuck, meanwhile enhancing her only too verbally extrovert spirit. Over countless martinis at the Ritz Carlton, the two women compared suicide attempts, discussed their mutual enchantment with death, critiqued each other s work, and gossiped over drinks and free potato chips.* While studying confessional poetry, it is of key importance to understand that these poems do not intend to ... Alluding perhaps in the same vein as Macduff in Shakespeare s tragedy, Macbeth, the collection chronicles her coming to terms with the vicious circle of life and inevitability hovering over the living. The twin deaths of Sexton s parents in 1959 (her mother s succeeded by her father s) led her to cling on to writing for dear life. Her poems thinly conceal her feelings of bitterness towards them and thus vividly capture the essence of the conflict between holding them responsible for desolating her and lamenting their loss. Using it as a vehicle to transport herself from these worldly sufferings, she used poetry as a defense, as a healing ointment to veil the scarring of her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Analysis Of The Film Wadjda Interested in your father s glorious family tree? You aren t included, it only includes men s names. In the film Wadjda , directed by Haifaa Al Mansour, a girl named Wadjda from the male dominated culture of Saudi Arabia sees a green bike that she strives her hardest to own. Although could the bike be a metaphor for something deeper? Some may say the bike is nothing more than a plain old bike, but in this essay, I will discuss how and why the green bike symbolises more than a mere green bike. The focus will be on the significance of the bike, why it has been chosen to act as the metaphor, and how/why the director has chosen it to show that Wadjda is subversive. In the movie, there is a green bike Wadjda desperately wants, although it challenges the norms of her society. The director Haifaa Al Mansour uses the bike to not only represent a transportation device, but also a metaphor for freedom. Wadjda s main goal in the movie is to own the bike. However, ownership of the bike for a girl challenges the cultural norms of Saudi Arabia. This means that for her to own it, in a sense, signifies breaking through the barrier of the Saudi Arabian expectations and entering freedom. Thus, making it a metaphor for freedom and equality. The film director explains this in an interview that came out shortly after the movie in 2012. Why would the director choose a bike to act as the metaphor, you may ask yourself? Haifaa Al Mansour uses the bike to act as a metaphor over everything else ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Global Bearing Market For Automotive Bearings 1.Introduction In 2014, the global bearing market had a value of 75.91 billion dollars with a Compound Annual Grade Rate (CAGR) of 7.7% from the year of 2014 to 2020. The bearing market is mainly driven by automotive industry, meaning that if there is an increase of demand of vehicles, it will lead to an increase of bearings and steel (material used to manufacture the bearings) (PR Newswire, 2014). In March 2014, the European Commission found irregularities in the market for automotive bearings. These irregularities consisted of six companies that operated as a cartel for seven years (April 2004 July 2011) in the European Economic Area. Therefore, the European Commission penalized the participant companies by imposing fines of € 953,306,000 in total and also provided an opportunity for reduction when the involved companies agreed to clear up the case with the Commission. The involved companies were: the Europeans SKF and Schaeffler and the Japanese JTEKT, NSK, NFC, and NTN (European Commission, 2014). This paper presents a description of market structure in which the bearing companies operate in Europe, possible environment that led to collusive behavior, incentives for companies that led them to participate in cartel and resulting welfare from it. Moreover, the paper also presents an assessment of Government intervention with costs and benefits analysis and its effects to all stakeholders. I find myself time and time again, inspired and exhilarated to observe and work with doctors, nurses, and support staff to help people in their time of need. My passion for medicine developed starting in the eighth grade. I received a call from my mother saying my grandfather was being rushed to the emergency room. The doctors explained that he had severe acute pancreatitis and was being rushed to surgery. As soon as I arrived my grandfather was being taken into surgery. The feelings of helplessness and despair loomed over me not knowing if he was going to survive the surgery. A simple way to fix this problem is to make new drivers hold their learners longer. In Exodus 19:5 6 it is written, Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep my covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation . Evidently, God desired for the people of Israel to be set apart, a people that functioned and behaved differently to those around them. Moreover, they were to be a kingdom of priests that were His representatives on earth. Within this covenant relationship, God established laws and regulations, part of which is this scripture regarding the veil, a divide between the outer tabernacle and the Holy of Holies, the place where God was enthroned on earth . Them Therefore, the Mosaic Law was unique and exclusive to the people of Israel; it was to regulate how they functioned as a nation. As such, the law holds much more significance to the ancient Israelites to whom it was given. In fact most contemporary Christians seldom know how to apply the Mosaic Law in a modern context. During the Crimean war, both Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale showed aspects of being angels. The word angel suggests a heavenly person who is attentive to the soldiers needs, and mercy means showing kindness and forgiveness, and the angel of mercy basically suggests a compassionated and kind hearted person who empathizes and helps soldiers in need. Although Nightingale had showed the aspects of being an angel of mercy , the amount of work and commitment Seacole had put in outweighs Nightingale s; therefore I believe Mary Seacole deserves the title of the real angel of mercy . Even though, Nightingale has made positive impacts on the course of the war and paved a way for improving in the nursing field, her actions aren t enough to fit the image of an angel of mercy , since she was a harsh, cold woman who criticized her own nurses and only checked the patients from a distance, completely neglecting the importance of consoling and communicating with the soldiers, as it is also shown on the source U on the lithograph Nightingale is seen leading the wounded; however, she keeps a distance inbetween. This shows that Nightingale is recognized through the image of the clean organized ward, rather than a kind hearted and compassionated nurse treating the patients, and the angel of mercy ought to provide both physical and mental needs to the soldier as the title says, since they will not only suffer physical attacks but will also be mentally affected by the war, and Nightingale failed to provide mental treatment. On the other hand, Mary Seacole s engagements fit the image of the angel of mercy and source V praises Seacole and her involvement during the war, despite being rejected by the British authorities due to her race and background. The statement that famine is an unavoidable act of God and can only be helped by sending food relief is only true in terms of an inefficient society. Famine in developed countries is absolutely unheard of. The free market will not allow famine to occur because if a country is producing efficiently, it will be actively involved in trade with other countries or other regions. Take the example of the two farmers above. These villages are able to trade freely and would develop businesses that provide good and services to each other, as well as save and reinvest in their villages. If such an act occurred in which village one was unable to produce wheat, the price of wheat would increase to support the reduction in supply. The market would reach an equilibrium in which the demand would meet supply at a certain price. This equilibrium will prevent a shortage of wheat on the market. Wheat will become more valuable and the demand will go down. Depending on what kind of demand exists outside of the wheat producing village, the village may be able to get more corn or other services in exchange for its more valuable wheat. However, if the government of the nation above has implemented a price ceiling policy on the price of wheat in an effort to make wheat affordable to everyone, famine could strike. Local ALN treatment enhanced the growth of bone forming cells adjacent to the bone surfaces in the in vivo model. Results were consistently affirming that N BPs can directly affect the osteoblast growth and proliferation. This study found that 3 day treatment using rat osteoblastic cells with ALN at an early differentiation stage induced upregulation of osteocalcin expression and mineralization and a later differentiation stage. Treatment with high ALN concentrations caused harmful effects with decreased cell viability and inhibition of cell differentiation. Bone formation may be mediated directly by incorporation of ALN through inhibition of mevalonate pathway. N BP s have been used to treat systemic bone metabolic disorders. Analysis Of Annette Lareau s Unequal Childhoods After reading Annette Lareau s book, Unequal Childhoods , I gain a better understanding of how my childhood affected the person I am today and the person I will become. This book categorizes Americans in classes of poor class, working class, and middle class; Lareau studies multiple families in each of these classes, including different races. In the following essay, I will apply the same concepts Lareau used in her book to my own life. Daily Life My Mother, Dawn, grew up in a working class family with her parents separated and trying to make ends meet with her Dad and two siblings. She graduated high school and went on to work at McDonalds for a few years, before she got married. My father, Jerry, grew up poor moving different houses every year with his mom, step dad, and five other siblings. His father died when he was three and his step father died when he was about thirteen. Jerry dropped out of high school without completing the ninth grade so he could work to provide for his mom and other siblings. Dawn and Jerry married and had their first child in 1988, a daughter named Brittany. In the same year my family moved into a predominantly white neighborhood in the town of Okalona, right by the busy streets of Preston Highway and Outer Loop. The house is brick and was built in the early 1940 s, it is two stories with four bedrooms and two baths, with two garages, a swimming pool, and big back yard, the house sits on .94 acres of land. Jerry worked as a painter in the union since he was 16 and always had the aspirations of owning his own business. Dawn stayed home to care for the home and the children. Two years after Brittany was born, they had another daughter named Ashley in January of 1990. At this point Jerry was still working at the Union as a painter and was attempting to start his own painting business. In 1993, Jerry was contracted with a construction company building 20 new houses a year, this was the start of his painting company. The painting The Third of May 1808 commemorates a dark moment in history and portrays the brutality from France. It represents a bloody encounter that took place between the French army and the people of Madrid who rose up against them. 20th century art critic Robert Hughes wrote, Most of the victims have faces. The killers do not. This is one of the most often noted aspects of the Third of May, and rightly so: with this painting, the modern image of war as anonymous killing is born, and a long tradition of killing as ennobled spectacle comes to its overdue end. They were often women belonging to the middle class, however, they had a central role in the upbringing of upper class children and the construction of Victorian education and ideals. Despite their significance within the homes of wealthy families, many governesses were treated with suspicion and fear. This paper, however, seeks to analyze several notable governess representations as well as to understand how these various depictions (from homewrecker governess to asexual, unsexed governess) were employed to construct, conceal, and obscure the classed sexuality of the governesses. The governess in the painting Looking for the Mail Packet , Miss Prism in The Importance of Being Earnest, Mrs. Vesey in The Woman in White, portray governesses as superfluous to the home and neglectful of their charges, lacking in sexual desirability, and utterly unsophisticated. Some governesses, including Miss Prism, are described as women who seek to destabilize the Victorian home Г la prostitutes and other undesirable women. No matter the case, the governess as a Victorian figure was often not painted in a positive light in these texts. The frequency of sound waves refers to the number oscillations per second, with one cycle per second is considered a unit of 1 hertz (Henderson, 2014). Sound waves oscillating above 20,000 Hz are categorised as ultrasound waves. As sound waves are a transverse wave forms this means the only variant is its frequency and wavelength despite the location in the spectrum. The wavelength is defined as the distance travelled by sound in one cycle, or the distance between two identical points in the wave cycle i.e. the distance from each oscillation (Cura RodriМЃguez, SeguiМЃ and Nicolau, 2012). In regards to wave forms the wavelength shows very little significance as it is inversely proportional to frequency. In reference to the structure a waveform, the significance of the wavelength is one of the main factors affecting the resolution of an ultrasound image, this is because smaller wavelengths (higher frequency) are absorbed more by soft tissue. This variable absorption rate with structures of different impedances allows distinctive structures to be clearly represented. If the forecast for a certain program was over estimated, the CEO/Executive Director can inform the board and suggest other avenues for unassigned funds. It also presents itself in the form of first hand knowledge, like being on the front line and reporting back to headquarters of the current positions. CEO/Executive Directors in the nonprofit sector are focused and balanced at the same time for maximum success. • 54. Essay Justice in the Oresteia Justice in the Oresteia Justice is often taken for granted in the world we live in today with a judicial system that gives fair punishment for most crimes. In the Oresteia justice works much differently, where there are no judges or a court system to resolve disputes, instead there is revenge. Revenge is very messy because somebody will and has to get hurt first to desire revenge, and it leads to a cycle that cannot and will not end until everybody is dead. Justice does not and cannot only be revenge because in the end nobody would be left in that system. Aeschylus Oresteia focuses on revenge as justice, with the old system that no longer works and that someone must fix, and a new system that has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clytemnestra also gives her justification for murdering her husband, and for ten long years she thought about how sweet revenge would be when Agamemnon arrived. She also tells her lover, Aegisthus, Our lives are based on pain (1690). Clytemnestra does not realize how ironic her statement will be later on when pain controls her. Aegisthus sums up their code of justice when he says, There are gods in heaven avenging men, / blazing down on all the crimes of earth (1607 1608). He also is foreshadowing that his crime must also be paid for and he will suffer the consequences of killing Agamemnon and revenge. Aegisthus does not realize it, but Orestes is seeking revenge upon him and his for the death of Agamemnon. After Orestes kills them, there is nobody left alive to kill him to avenge their deaths. Clytemnestra invokes the Furies who seek revenge for anybody who has nobody to seek it for them. The Furies chase Orestes to Apollo s temple where Orestes asks him for forgiveness, Lord Apollo, you know the rules of justice, / know them well. Now learn compassion (88 89). Orestes is the first person who is trying to change the system and realizes it must be changed for the gods and the Furies to spare his life. Revenge as justice has one major problem, ...
