Equilibrium Reactions and Le Chatelier s Principle
Lab: 5
Experiment:13
Pre Lab The purpose of this experiment is to observe an equilibrium reaction counteracting
changes to it s system all in accordance to Le Chatelier s principle. An equilibrium reaction can be
pushed toward products or reactant based on changes in temperature or concentration. The
reversibility of reaction will also be looked at.
Pre Lab questions
1. The concentrations of products and concentrations of reactants remain constant but both
reactions are still going on, just at the same rate.
2. Le Chatelier s principle when an equilibrium has been established in a system and is altered, the
systems will counteract the change.
3. a) it will go to the left b) to the left c) to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the equilibrium lies to the right, the solution is basic and will be yellow. The first solution turns
pink because the HCl is a strong acid and methyl orange is pink in acidic solutions. The
equilibriums shift to the left side showing an increase in the amount of acid in the solution that is
why the color changes to pink. The concentration of the solution then turns yellow because NaOH
is a base and turns yellow in a basic solution. The equilibrium is shifted to the right when the NaOH
is added.

Phenolphthalein is a weak acid and does not fully dissociate ergo it creates an equilibrium.
When the HCl is added, the equilibrium is to the left, The concentration of the anions is too low
for the pink color to be observed. However, the NaOH is a strong base and makes the solution s
equilibrium shift to the right. The concentration of the anion becomes sufficient for the pink
color to be observed. 4. Both test tubes appear red with the acetic acid with the methyl orange.
This indicates that the equilibrium lies toward the acid. CH3COOH(aq) (( H+(aq) + CH3COO (aq)

Artificial Intelligence In Black Mirror s Be Right Back
In the Black Mirror episode, Be Right Back , Ash and Martha are a couple in the process of
moving into Ash s empty childhood home when Ash dies suddenly in a car accident. Racked
with grief, Martha chooses to utilize a software technology that takes all of Ash s digital
presence (videos, photos, audio, social media posts, etc.) and recreates Ash s personality to
allow her to speak with this new A.I version of him via the phone and online. After a while,
Martha decides she wants more and opts to upload the software to a fully functioning robotic
clone of Ash. What she soon realizes is that what makes Ash the person she knew and loved
cannot be replicated by A.I. Unlike Ash, the robot does whatever Martha tells it to do and is overly
agreeable... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Martha has sex with the robot, it is clearly a more lasting performance than Ash s (as was
shown earlier in the episode). Even though the mechanics of having sex with the robot are better
than with Ash, this only serves to highlight that the robot is better at something than Ash, but in the
doing so, fails at being an accurate duplicate of him.Descartes believed that machines could never
express their thoughts or respond to the meaning of what has been said to them ( (Irwin, Brown and
Decker , Terminator and Philosophy: I‛ll Be Back, Therefore I am 22). It s true that artificial
intelligence can communicate, however, it is never really expressing its own conscious thoughts
while doing so since consciousness is what is missing. This brings us back to that cliffside. When
Martha tells the robot to jump, it responds with, I never expressed suicidal thoughts. Or self harm.
, implying that it would if human Ash had those thoughts, and only for that reason. She replies
with, yeah well, you aren t you, are you? . He then tells her the question is a difficult one to
process (Harris). Without a mind, the robot cannot understand the nuances and gravity of this very
human conversation and only interacts the way it perceives Martha wants it to. Until Martha yells
at it for not having a normal human response to such a request as jumping off a cliff, there is no
emotional inflection or reaction on the robot s part.Is there a way to prove whether

Stamps By Maya Angelou Essay
Maya starts explaining how after their parents decided to sent them away after putting and end to
their calamitous marriage (Angelou 5) they arrived to Stamps after travelling alone from
California; Maya realized later that this event was done also by other frightened Black children
to their newly affluent parents in Northern cities or back to grandmothers in Southern towns (6).
In Stamps, they met Momma and Uncle Willie, and they lived in the Store. The process of
adaptation took Maya and Bailey a little bit of time, but finally Stamps, and particularly the Store,
was her favorite place to be . However, the South then becomes a forceful determinant in the locus
of Angelou s text. Southern life, as Angelou demonstrates, is one of harshness and brutality. It is
exemplified by the conditions under which the workers of Stamps lived, the fear engendered by
the Ku Klux Klan (whites), the wanton murder of Black folks, the racial separation of the town,
and the innumerable incidents of denigration which made life in the South an abomination against
God and Man. (Afzal 4) In Stamps the segregation was so complete that most Black children didn t
really, absolutely know what whites looked like. Other than they were different, to be dreaded, and
in that dread was included the hostility of the powerless against the powerful, the poor against...

Young Maya lives under the threats of terrifying lynch mobs and the daily realities of
discrimination and humiliation. Each racist incident contributes to Maya s self awareness and
shapes her views about injustice. This is a place where her brother witnesses white men fishing
the rotting corpse of a lynched black man out of the river and then making jokes, where her
grandmother is humiliated by a group of poor white girls, and where her crippled uncle spends the
night in a corn crib to avoid a lynch mob. (Sickels,

Analysis Of The En Plein Air Paintings By William Cullen...
During the 19th century, the en plein air paintings were introduced to many artists. Since
thatпјЊnatural light became particular important to the Hudson River School. Also, art and
literature were constantly entwined, such as American Romanticism. Significant individuals
became familiar with one another s work, resulting in inspiration that led to creative works that pay
homage to another artists work. For instance, Asher Brown Durand s Landscape Scene From
Thanatopsis was inspired by the romantic poet William Cullen Bryant, whose work was influenced
by the multifaceted cultural creations. Both Bryant and Durand investigated the themes of men,
nature, individualism, and the inner and after lives. Through detailing natural elements that
emphasized the life cycle, Durand created literary art by paying tributed to Bryant s Thanatopsis .
Asher Brown Durand was an American painter, one of the founders of the Hudson River Schoolof
landscape paintings. He was born in 1796, New Jersey, USA. He died in 1886. He used to be an
engraver. He illustrated gift books and annuals, and engraved a popular series of 72 portraits of
antemproary Americans. In 1840, he visited Europe to study the works of old masters. After he
returned, he went to Adirondack Mountain with Thomas Cole to do the en plein air painting.
Because of this experience, it changed the rest of Asher s life. He changed into painting creative.
Under the influence of his fellow artists, Durand turned more attention

1.French Revolution marked the end of the Ancient Regime and has great importance in the history
of Europe after the fall of Rome. Main theme of French Revolution was Equality, Liberty and
Fraternity which affected the France, Europe and even the whole world. Liberty was the principle
of liberalism while equality and fraternity developed the socialism. French Revolution abolished the
absolute monarchy in France.
2.Napoleon came in rule at the end of the French Revolution and is generally regarded as the

In modern times, a couple usually does not plan to get married less than a week after meeting. Yet
in the small Italian town of Messina in William Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing, the
young Claudio and Hero plan to get married as soon as possible. That is, until Claudio is fed false
information that Hero is not a virgin and slanders her at the altar. During the Elizabethan erawhen
this play was written, most female roles and women in general were treated without respect as Hero
was and were only prized on their physical characteristics. Much Ado About Nothing was an
important play in the Elizabethan era because it dealt with social class boundaries and the roles of
women. Although the Elizabethan Era influenced theater greatly,... Show more content on

Elizabethan women were being taught that they were practically property of men. They could
be forced into arranged marriages in order to create bonds between families and were taught to
be dependent on their male relatives (Alchin). Social class and one s status in society could also
coincide with how they were treated on an everyday basis (Alchin). With these many events that
would change the world forever came changes in the theater that would change it forever, too.
James Burbage, a prominent Elizabethan actor, built the first Elizabethan playhouse and called
it the Theatre (Yancey 25). The Theatre, built in 1576, would go on to set a precedent in the
design of all playhouses of the era (Senn). The building was probably round or octagonal and had
no ceiling so as to let in natural light since no efficient artificial lighting had been invented at this
point in time (Yancey 25). Because of the need for natural light during plays, most performances
took place during the afternoon (Yancey 29). On the inside of the Theatre, the stage extended to
be a raised rectangle that took up about half of the ground floor (Yancey 30). Above it was a
balcony on which acting could occur, such as the balcony scene from Shakespeare s Romeo and
Juliet (Yancey 31). Finally, past the back end of the stage was a concealed room called the Tiring
House that served as storage for props and a dressing room for any actors during a performance
(Senn).

Higher Courts Ensure Federal Laws Among All States
Higher courts help to ensure that federal law carries out evenly among all states; a message of
unity isn t sent when each state has its own exceptions to the law. Higher courts also look at the
overall picture and the impact that the law has; the point is that federal law is the main concern,
and state law doesn t make much difference. Therefore, it is necessary for the higher courts to
step in and ensure that any issues at a federal level reign the same in any court/lower judicial
system. There are three important factors that are used to determine if higher courts should
accept a case on certiorari. The first is a split in the circuits, meaning that because of the
importance of the case, it needs to be heard in a higher court. It is important to note that an
obvious grant would occur in a conflict among circuits. The second point is polity in which
events such as segregation have a significant impact in how society operates (Murphy, Pritchett,
Epstein Knight, 2006). The third factor is legal importance specifically confusion of
interpretation or societal importance. There are a couple of examples that point out the
importance of federal law and these three points listed above. One example is U.S. vs. Nixon
which proves that not only is no one individual above the law no matter their title, but also one
that needed to be addressed by a higher court to make the right decision and set an example for
future cases if they were ever to occur; this supports the first factor

The Miles Between Cultural Differences
Everyone has a different way of life, whether it be by the way you talk, dress, or eat. Or maybe
how you dance, sing, and perform. These aspects of everyday life is called culture. Everybody in
the world has a culture, but not all cultures are the same from person to person. In the book, The
Miles Between, a group of teens, who attend a boarding school, have a different way of life than I
do. Even though there is many differences between our cultures, there are still some similarities
peeping through all the differences. One of the most important parts of culture, I believe, is who
influenced you to grow your culture, and who influenced you to act the way you act. Therefore,
family is a big part in controlling your culture. If you are Destiny Faraday, the main character of
The Miles Between, you do not have a family, or anybody to rely on. No mother, father, sister,
nor brother, nobody to raise her into the way she is, and to help her create her culture. Destiny
witnessed her parents and her brother Gavin die in a plane crash at the age of seven. That was a
very traumatic incident she had to witness at such a young age, my parents and Gavin are dead
(Pearson, 230). The quote was her telling her friends that her parents are no longer alive. This is a
large differencebecause I still have my parents, and they have raised me my whole life, which has
a big affect on how my culture is developed and experienced. What my parents eat, has influenced
what I eat. What music my

The Use Of Diuretics And Its Effects On Quality Of Life
While laxatives may be necessary for short term, acute cases of constipation, they are
contraindicated for long term use. Overuse of laxatives can cause a reduction in colon motility,
diarrhea, and incontinence (Day et al., 2014). This leads a cycle of chronically alternating
constipation and diarrhea that significantly affects quality of life. Over use of laxatives is also
associated with dehydration, tachycardia, and electrolyte imbalances. These side effects not only
affect quality of life but can exacerbate other comorbid medical conditions (Day et al., 2014).
Non pharmacological interventions are much safer. Most have few to no side effects. In the dietary
fiber studies mentioned above, gastrointestinal symptoms were the only side effects reported, and
even those were not significantly different than the symptoms reported by the placebo group
(Gallegos Orozco et al, 2011; Lever, Cole, J., Scott, Emery, Whelan, 2014; Yang et al., 2012). Even
patients without constipation, and those with diarrhea symptoms have healthier bowel movements
with an increase in dietary fiber (Rodrigues Fisher et al., 1993). Exercise, probiotics, biofeedback,
and education likewise have no negative side effects, and can even positively affect other chronic
health conditions.
Concurrent Use
Non pharmacological treatment of constipation is not only effective and safe; it also coexists well
with pharmacological treatment of constipation. Non pharmacological interventions do not
interfere with

What Are The Contributions Of The LumiпїЅre Brothers In Cinema
The LumiГЁre Brothers we the first among filmmakers in history. Auguste Marie Louis Nicolas and
Louis Jean were born in Besançon, France during 1895. During this era, he and his brother would
be the first to launch a motion picture. They had shot their first motion picture with a sweeping
invention, which combined the camera and a projector, they named it the CinГЁmatographe. The
LumiГЁre Brothers had many technological contributions to cinema, along with their technological
significances in the filmindustry. The LumiГЁre Brothers had many career highlights, lasting
impacts on not only the development of motion pictures but the importance they brought out to
many individuals including themselves during this early era of new beginnings.
The LumiГЁre Brothers were both technically minded and overshadowed many other individuals
in the sciences; they both attended a technical school so that they could prosper their technical
ability. They were inspired to build such a tool that would prosper film into what it is today.
Auguste and Louis LumiГЁre s father Antoine LumiГЁre was well known painters and attended
and Edison s exhibition relating to an invention he had created called the Kinetoscope. This
exhibition showcased the Kinetoscope in Paris and he had told them you should try to develop a
cheaper alternative to the peephole film viewing device that its bulky camera counterpart (Pruitt
1). Listening to their father s advice they both took it into consideration and did exactly what they
had been implied to do. The Kinetoscope only did one job, which let the machine play a film but
it could only be watched by on individual at a time through the small hole that could be looked
through which was located at the top of the contraption. The brothers went straight to work with
their new product so that they could build a tool where many people could vision motion pictures
at the same time while having it projected onto a screen or plan background of some sort. By 1894
both of the brothers had invented the CinГЁmatographe which projected film of 16 frames per
second. The CinГЁmatographe was completely different from the Kinetoscope. Many differing
factors went into the development into the CinГЁmatographe. For example, it was

Poem Analysis On His Coy Mistress By Andrew Marvell
Andrew Marvell wrote a unique love poem in To His Coy Mistress, as this poem expresses far
more than one might expect or even perceive upon the first reading. Enveloped in this ode to a
cherished muse are expressions of the carpe diem philosophy, laments about the impending doom
of death, and hopes to transcend contemporary abilities to live forever in the love of another.
While Marvell s primary purpose in writing this piece may have been to woo a young maiden, he
made a far more significant contribution to the era s literary culture in the process. Marvell most
directly addressed To His Coy Mistress to a woman he intended to court, as he spends a majority of
the piece lamenting that he didn t have time sufficient to praise her features. In the opening stanza,
Marvell states that, Had we but world enough, and time.... An hundred years should go yo
praise.... An age at least to every part, / And the last age should show your heart (Marvell 1 18).
While Marvell ones not directly praise or describe his muse in any way, he does emphasize how
extraordinarily praiseworthy she be, and this idea forms the basis for the philosophical
wonderings and realizations that comprised the following stanzas. Thus, Marvell addressed his
poem at a potential lover for the purpose of courting her on an unknown occasion, but the real
significance of the poem lies in the later ideas he presented to fulfill this purpose. In his second
stanza, Marvell takes a drastic turn from the romantic

Explain How The Path A Water Molecule Travels Through The...
1.Describe the path a water molecule takes as it travels through the hydrologic cycle. The
hydrological cycle is a never ending cycle that keeps us alive. The path begins with: Evaporation
when water evaporates in the form of water vapor by the heat of the sun and enters the air.
Transpiration Water enters the air when plants breathe in a process known as transpiration.
Condensation the process which water vapor in the air turns into liquid and forms clouds. Rain
drops often form when water vapor comes in contact with dust in the air. Clouds Clouds are a
mass of water or ice droplets in the air. An example of a cloud next to the earth s surface is fog.

The oceans cover about 71 percent of the Earth which makes the ocean a key factor in storing and
transferring heat energy around the world. Inconsistency in the heating of the earth gives rise to
global wind patterns. Since the wind patterns are constant, the winds create steady movements in
the water known as currents. When the air blows across the surface of a body of water, the water
begins to move from small waves to larger waves. When the water starts to move it is subject to the
Coriolis Effect (The Coriolis Effect, the pattern of the wind movement and the arrangement of
landmasses are responsible for the large scale patterns of wind driven surface currents in the ocean)
and begins to bend redirecting the water to the right of the direction of the wind in the Northern
Hemisphere and to the left in the Southern Hemisphere. Each hemisphere of an ocean has its very
own gyre, a circular motion of water. In the northern hemisphere the gyres turn clockwise and in the
southern hemisphere it turns counterclockwise. The current that runs south along the coast is the
California Current and the current in the Gulf of Alaska is the Alaskan

According to Sullivan and Garland (2010) leadership entails guiding others to realize, a particular
goal using interpersonal skills. Weihrich and Koontz (2005) argue that leadership is the art of
influencing others to readily and actively endeavour towards meeting goals set by the team. As
noted by Spector (2006), there is a shared theme that leadershipentails influencing other individual
belief systems, behaviours, feelings and beliefs. For things to run properly in an organization
effective leadership is paramount. In the healthcare setting, this is not any different. It is therefore
important that mention is made to clinical leadership within mental health settings. This is

benefit from leaders such as managers encouraging subordinate leaders to develop diverse
leadership styles to deal with different conditions.
This necessitates situational leadership approach to be adopted by successful leaders as they adjust
their leadership style to deal with particular circumstances. For instance, circumstances deemed

Outsider Outsiders
I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration
for freedom in the history of our nation (Martin Luther King). GETTYSBURG ADDRESS (19
NOVEMBER 1863) [1] Fourscore and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this
continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are
created equal ( Abraham Lincoln). We meet at a time of tension between the United States and
Muslims around the world tension rooted in historical forces that go beyond any current policy
debate (Barack Obama). All of these are the starting point of great changes. These famous
historical figures are considered Outsiders The Term Outsider Literally means One who does not
belong to a particular group. Perception is the main key in deciding if someone belongs when
they are an outsider. If you look at it from one group they don t belong and from another they do.
One of the most famous outsiders in history is Martin Luther King. He was considered this
because he decided to take a stance against what s normal and average. He wanted to have equal
rights for both African Americans and Caucasians. By doing this he was considered an outsider
by all people. They either stood with him or against him during his outside revolution. Although
he did not like to be considered an outsider as shown by this quote Injustice anywhere is injustice
everywhere. Anyone who lives in the US can never be considered an outsider anywhere in the
country He was an outsider by trying to make no one feel like an outsider themselves. So
throughput this he didn t belong to the groups trying not to allow equal rights. But to the people,
he stood up with he was a leader and belonged to their group, therefore even if you don t feel like
you belong with the group you re in, you have a network. The next outsider is Our famous 16th
president Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln was considered the rail splitting candidates throughout his
campaign and presidency. He was born and raised from working class roots. This set him apart
from his opposing candidate William H. Seward (who was the former governor of New York and a

How Did The New Kingdom Change Ancient Egypt
Ancient Egypt was one of the earliest, longest lasting and significant civilizations in world history.
Egypt was located in the Nile River Valley. Egyptian history divided into three separate periods,
such as, the old kingdom, the middle Kingdom, and the new Kingdom. Each Kingdom has different
things that make it unique, and there are some facts and certain characteristics of life that they all
shared. This paper will shows how each kingdom civilized how it changed the Egyptians.
First is Old Kingdom. The Old Kingdom also called the Pyramid Age began about in 2686 B.C.E.

of the warrior pharaohs (Roehrig). New Kingdom includes several civilizations of pharaohs.
During Pharaohs of this time period went on the aggressive, attacking areas outside of Egypt.
Another aspect of the New Kingdom was a change in the way that pharaohs in this period were
buried. Few other major characteristics and things that happened during that time was pleasing
god with goods and money, building temples, royal extravagance, building tombs instead
pyramids, and great art scriptures. The Major achievement was gold mines that were used very
significant way by the Pharaohs. It formed the real power behind the throne. And the gold was also
used to build magnificent temples and tombs for everyone. Women played a big role during that
era too. They were given the opportunity and rights that they deserved from long time. The

Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) Guidelines for the investigation of computer crime.

In this essay I will be talking about the key guidelines when it comes to investigating computer

regarding the law . I will also analyse the principle that will apply when dealing with the collection

I believe that CRISPR is going to, and already is revolutionizing medicine. The way we fight
disease, cure cancer, and maybe even create new humans. The editing techniques I m about to
mention allow scientist to modify DNA sequences in the human body and.
So what is CRISPR? We first have to understand where CRISPR comes into play, and that is
genomic editing. Genome editing is where engineered nucleases are either inserted, replaced, or
deleted in a living organism s genome, and genomic editing is done with the help of the system
CRISPR. The CRISPR cas system is an RNA guided nuclease system for targeted introduction of
doubled stranded DNA cleavage. It was originally discovered in bacteria as an acquired defense
against foreign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other vector variations are also available to provide added convenience, such as GFP for
transfection monitoring or lenti backbone for viral delivery. For researchers who perform mRNA
microinjection or mRNA transfection. The applications for CRISPR Cas 9 are endless.
There are two types of editing that are commonly used: homologous recombination and non
homologous end joining(NHEJ). Homologous recombination utilizes a repair template The desired
changes, such as gene knock out, gene tagging, and specific mutations, are flanked by left and right
homologous arm sequences. Upon double cross over the desired changes integrate into the genome.
In non homologous end joining the ends are joined together and introduce random mutations. Both
types are used to remedy double strand breaks (DSBs), but homologous recombination is highly
preferred over NHEJ because this type of editing is extremely error prone. It can delete or add
genetic information and cause chromosomal translocations.
So why aren t we using these mechanisms on humans in order to control our genetic makeup? In
the medical field we see great opportunity to treating and even curing some of the most horrible of
disease, yet we are still hesitant. Just as easy, as it will soon be, to edit genes for healing purposes
scientists, researchers, and physicians will have to embrace the uncertainty that comes with it. The
uncertainty of incorrectly placing DNA, or deleting/adding DNA that

The Summer Day Mary Oliver
The final lines of Mary Oliver s poem The Summer Day instructs the reader to Tell me, what is it
you plan to do with your one wild and precious life . I attended a Jesuit high school and there
were many quotes and sayings which were repeated over and over that connected to the
teachings of the Jesuits. There were a few in particular that really stuck with me, the first being
Mary Oliver s quote. Throughout her poem The Summer Day , Mary Oliver essentially asks the
question of what is a life well lived and proceeds to end the poem with challenging the reader to
find their own definition. She is saying that we have one life and it is up to us whether we chose
to make something of that life, or simply wait until it is too late and we have... Show more content

Again, I call on another of the many Jesuit saying that have been engrained in me. This time I
feel Socrates quote The unexamined life is not worth living brings another vital layer to the
definition of a well lived life. This is an incredibly bold statement made by Socrates. He is saying
in a very straightforward manner that if you do not reflect on and examine the decisions you
have made and actions you chose take, your life is not worth living. It is a very blunt and harsh
statement. Coming from a Jesuit high school, we took a forced pause every day to reflect and
pray St. Ignatius daily Examen in order to ensure that we were acting as our best selves that day.
If you do not reflect, there is no way you can correct behavior that deviates from your moral
compass or personal beliefs and goals. A life like that simply cannot be well lived and is
ultimately and unfortunately a waste because you are not living as the person you were meant to
be. It can then be said that the next part of the definition of a well lived life is that you consciously
reflect on your decisions and actions and try to change them for the better when they deviate from

The Obligations That Employers Have Under Current Legislation
Both these voluntary clauses identify in brief form the obligations that employers have under
current legislation. They can often be helpful, particularly when used in conjunction with a
clause outlining the obligations of employees, in establishing the commitment of both parties to
a successful relationship. Wages: When you hire your first employees, you have some
responsibilities to that employee, and to all future employees, relating to compensation. These
responsibilities are codified under federal laws: You must pay at least the minimum wage

the department assistant is $14.75 per hour. They review it and increase it every year. The

someone who works at New world away according to their contract they signed. Hours of work
and shifts: the standard full time contract has 45 hours contract with 9 hours 5 days and 2 day

they work over 45 hours. The part timers usually have 2 shifts of 10 hours a day. New world

Summary Of John Adams Short Ride In A Fast Machine
John Adams is an American composer, best known for his operas, the symphonic fanfare Short
Ride in a Fast Machine, and the Pulitzer Prize winning work, On the Transmigration of Souls. He
was born in Massachusetts, graduated with a BA and a MA from Harvard, and taught at the San
Francisco Conservatory. In addition to directing the New MusicEnsemble at the conservatory, he
also worked in the electronic music studio. His work has become quite popular, especially Short
Ride in a Fast Machine. His operas Nixon and China and Doctor Atomic are frequently performed
nationally and internationally.

by the chorus and children s chorus are drawn from the heartbreaking missing person notices that
sprang up around the World Trade Center site after the attacks. One of Adams s inspirations for
this kind of layering of various quotations is the early 20th century composer Charles Ives, and he
makes this especially clear by including a long reference to the trumpet solo from Ives s The

sounds of digging. The music grows threatening and there is quick burst of anger from the orchestra

the words I know just where he is, followed by a ferocious orchestral interlude. The chorus
responds with the words light and love failing at first to stop the orchestra s fury, but the music
eventually subsides, and the work ends with long, quiet, and deeply touching epilogue. The last

Northern Renaissance and Italian Renaissance
Differences between the Italian and Northern Renaissance
The Renaissance was a period of great cultural and technological changes which swept Europe from
the end of the 13 century. It was integral in developing Europe into a powerhouse. Although, each
part of Europe was subjected to different changes, there were two primary renaissances which were
most notable. They were the Italian and the Northern renaissance. Both of these renaissances had a
profound impact on Europe. But they also had some typical differences among them and each was
unique in its own way.
Italian Renaissance
The opening phase of renaissance was started by the Italian renaissance. It was a period of great
Cultural changes and achievement throughout Europe. It spanned from the end of the 13 century
up to about the 1600 s. It marked the transition of Europe from the medieval period to the Early
Modern Europe. The term renaissance is in essence a modern one that came into currency in the
nineteenth century, in the work of historians such as Jacob Burckhardt.
Although the origins of a movement that was confined largely to the literate culture of intellectual
endeavor and patronage can be traced to the earlier part of the 14th century, many aspects of Italian
culture and society remained largely medieval; the Renaissance did not come into full swing until
the end of the century. The word renaissance (Rinascimento in

until on day, a young Jewish woman disguised herself, and asked Schindler to hire her parents

Several days later, all of the Jews in the camps were asked to take off all of their clothes and then
they were put through numerous exams to determine if they were sick, or healthy enough to work.
They were then separated, with the weak Jews put in the gas chambers, and the healthy Jews sent to

Persuasive Essay On Positivity
Perhaps, the worst quote on positivity that I have ever heard was from the German scientist, Max
Planck: When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. According to
this philosophy, we only need to visualize success in order to achieve it. This is just another claim
amidst a growing plague of positivity. Today, we witness an overload of positive thinking, in
which self help books, lectures, and workshops claim that happiness begins with a positive outlook.
Undoubtedly, the conclusion to this problem is not a shift towards self hate, but rather a dose of
reality, of recognizing the possibility of a negative outcome, and of the acceptance that not
everything, all the time, will be perfect. Ultimately, positivity has a negative side.
Assuredly, we have all heard, in the wake of complaining about a problem, someone countering,
don t worry; everything will be alright. Where, however, is the validation of this claim of
positivity? Especially, now, more than ever, as I submit my college applications, seemingly
everyone I know tries to reassure me with positive aphorisms. Although hints of truth may lie in
their assertions, the absolutism of everything being cheery is absurd. Unfortunate events do
happen. Nothing is black and white; nothing is absolute. This positive thinking leads many into
denial. We say that we are okay, but really we are struggling to cope with all of the problems that
life throws at us. Dr. Banschick asserts, People who use positive thinking as a defense are trying
to not feel anxious when they should. As human beings, we are not to be happy, positive people
all the time. In fact, many psychiatrists consider being constantly positive a manic disorder. We
are, however, meant to experience all of the highs and lows in life, not masking hardships with
smiles and agreeing nods. This summer, when my dog, my grandfather, and two of my friends
passed away, many friends attempts to console me resulted in a light, cheerful maxim followed by
everything will be alright. They told me to look on the bright side of life and stay positive.
Consequently, for months, I felt despondent, as no facade of positivity that I undertook could alter

The Potential Factors Affecting The Environment
1.INTRODUCTION
Biodiversity term used for the variety and variability between all types of living organisms such
as microorganisms, plants and animals available in a particular area covered by natural
conditions. The term biological diversity first coined by Norse and Mc Mangus in 1980 (Rawat
and Khare, 2010). According to the U.S. Office of Technology Assessment (1987), biological
diversity is the variety and variability among living organisms and the ecological complexes in
which they occur. Biological diversity fabricates variability of gene, species and ecosystem
(P.D.Sharma, 2015). It is essential for maintain the basic process on which life depends and is a key
to sustainable development (Jerath and Chadha, 2006). The heterogeneity of the environment
increases the number of resources and results in a higher diversity. Agitation is one of the main
factors affecting variation in species (K. Premalatha, 2013).

Empathy Star Trek
Star Trek: TNG and the Cultivation of Empathy
In this paper, I argue that watching Star Trek: The Next Generation cultivates empathy. Empathy is
a good that human beings ought to develop and having a sense of empathy is one of the best things
in life. Empathy consists in the capacity to understand what another person is going through from
their perspective. The reason that a sense of empathy is one of the best things in life is that it is
impossible to have deep and meaningful relationships with others when we don t have empathy.
Without empathy, we inevitably turn inward and live a lonely life. For this reason, empathy is one
of the best things in life.
Regular watching of Star Trek: TNG increases our capacity for empathy. The reason why this is the
case is that watching acts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now characters in Star Trek: TNG routinely show empathetic concern for one another. For instance,
when a race of cyborgs capture Jean Luc Picard (captain of the Enterprise on the show), the crew of
the
Enterprise do everything in their power to rescue Picard. One of their main motivations for rescuing
Picard is their experience of the sense of distress that he experiences while in captivity. This is just
one instance where empathy is shown in the program, but it happens on a regular basis. In sum,
watching
Star Trek: TNG increases our capacity for empathy because the characters regularly display empathy
on the show and because we tend to imitate the actions that we see other human beings performing.
Someone might object to this argument by pointing out that characters on the show also display
cruelty that involves a lack of empathy. For instance, in one episode a malevolent being kills one
of the members for the crew for no apparent reason. If we watch this cruelty, then perhaps we
ourselves might behave more cruelly. But this objection can be refuted. Cruelty on the show is

This is in sharp contrast to India s largest Asian competitor, China, whose youth workforce is

important for shifting the production possibility curve outward and building a strong national

income bracket with a purchasing parity power between $4,380 and $117,650 (US), but this was

The Symbols Of The Grimm Brothers
Fairy tales weren t always fairy tales. Happy endings weren t always the goal. It didn t use to be in
a land far away. Once upon a time didn t exist.
The Grimm brothers wrote stories as gory and grim as their name suggests. Their tales were darkly
comical, brusque and tragic. They were stories that were the truth for the people.
It all began, 200 years ago when this seemingly ordinary pair of brothers and German librarians put
together one of the most influential work of folklore in Germany, Europe and now the world.
Wilhelm Carl and Jacob Ludwig Grimm, the brother s interest in literature was fostered when they
were at the University of Marburg in the early 1800 s was when they were encouraged to collect
popular German folklore stories and other material by their law professor, Friedrich Carl von
Savigny. Savigny was an important figure in the nationalist Romantic Movement that called for
Germany to be culturally and politically united.
Savigny was a form of inspiration to the brothers and a mentor to them. The brother s used
metaphors in their writing that they believed were saving authentic German popular culture, an
endangered species at that time. The metaphors used by them were messianic and ecological. The

possibilities, prosperity, and power to Plains Indians, but they also brought destabilization,
dispossession, and destruction (834). It happened in the late sixteenth century when the Spanish
approached the Great Plain. The horse changed the lives of buffalo hunters who turned to hunt for
trade from that for survival. The core of Comancbe pastoralism was intensive trade in horses and
mules, which was stimulated by a shifting political and economic geography (Hämäläinen,
837). The tribes of the southern Plains had to make a balance between the trade economy based on
horses and the subsistence economy based on bison. The southern Plains Indiansbecame pastoral
people who mainly lived on hunting and horse keeping. On the positive side, the horse has brought
wealth to Southern Plains Indians. On the negative side, it ended up as a disaster for the grassland
ecology and led to famine and drought.
Pueblo Revolt was led by the Pueblo Indians who drove the Spanish out of New Mexico,
confiscated their horse herds, and embarked on a vigorous livestock (Hämäläinen, 836). The
main tribes were Comanche and Utes. After the Revolt, the Comanches gradually approached to
equestrianism and finally transformed themselves into a fully mounted society. The amount of

Biocology And The Conservation Of Wildlife And Wildlife...
Introduction
This research paper is going to be based on a few focal points. The first topic this essay is going
to cover is how local communities can be aided by government efforts to conserve biodiversity.
The second half will consist of examples showing how species can be both positively and
negatively affected by conservation efforts.
Local v. Government
The biology aspect of this paper is ecology. So, how is wildlife conservation related to ecology?
Since the suffix ology means the study of and eco is short for ecosystems or environments, ecology
is the study of environments and how the living organisms interact within these habitats. The word
wildlife was used to refer to animal species that are undomesticated, but was revised and currently
includes a larger variety of organisms. These organisms were not introduced by humans and
include species like animals, fungi, and plants. Both wildlife and ecology are used to describe
organisms and where their habitats are located. If someone wanted to directly compare ecology
and wildlife, they could almost say that ecology is the study of wildlife because wildlife includes
biotic (living) factors that are located in an ecosystem. Another example of how the two are related
is that they are both constantly changing. Both wildlife and ecology can be affected by multiple
influences. These factors could be natural, like natural disturbances or an introduction of a new
species. They could also be impacted by man made

Mary As A Disciple ( Mariology )
Mary as a Disciple (Mariology)
Mary was the mother to Jesus Christ, the Messiah, and has been a focus of theological discussion
since about the second century. Mary comes from a long line of women in the bible. Prototypes, if
you will. These women throughout the Old Testament were chosen by God. This gave way to Mary
becoming the God bearer. A title that was given to her by the Council of Ephesus in 431 C.E.
This is obviously where all theological debate dealing with Mariology comes from. To Catholics,
Mary is a sign of hope in this fading world. To protestant Christians, Mary is also known as the
mother of God. However, many protestant theologians believe that Mary should be honored but
within certain limits. The Old Testament in the Holy Biblespecifically says in Exodus 34:14, Do
not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God . In the New
Testament it says in 1 John 5:21, Little children, keep yourselves from idols . Martin Luther (a
German professor of Theology, and founder of the Lutheran Church) was quick to say that Mary
should be honored but to only what is fitting. Karl Barth (a reformed protestant theologian)
explained that through Mary, Jesus was human, and through Jesus, she is the divine mother of
God, and is full of grace that was still given to her by God the Father. Avery Dulles talks of models
that churches should strive to uphold, and Mary (mother of God) resembles the church of Servant,
Community,

Emotional Literacy
6. Areas of expertise have their own specific language. What are some of the terms that are
associated with each of the areas you chose?
Terms associated with emotional literacy are awareness (of one s and others feelings),
understanding , tact (being sensitive to others), control (of one s emotions and current expressions
when trying to avoid offending or creating conflict with others), empathy and sympathy.
Terms associated with singing literacy would be chest voice, head voice, mixed voice, falsetto,

The group of people whom I share my acting and singing literacies are my performing arts teachers,

During the practice phase of the study, participants were trained on how to respond to our motion
stimuli within the testing apparatus for this study. Participants viewed dot motion in one of eight
directions and blindly keyed in the corresponding direction of motion on a number pad with
arrows taped onto it. The direction of the dots changed for each trial and was randomized. This task
served two purposes: the first was to train the participants to use the blindly use the directional pad

When the head is tilted laterally, the eyes compensate by rotating in the opposite direction. This is
an orienting reflex that tends to align the eyes with the spatial vertical. Schworm, Ygge, Pansell,

heads at an angle, with the maximum amount of torsion detected at a 45 degree angle being 10
degrees. The experimenters also found that the average amount of counter roll is four to seven
degrees. Another factor in ocular counter roll responses is the amount of time the head has been at

roll was highly affected by whether or not the head was in position for a long time or was still in
motion, with dynamic rotation inducing a higher degree of counter roll on

Adult Learning Technologies
Learning Technologies in Adult Education
Any tool designed to extend a learner s capacity for effective action and that requires skill and
certain strategies to use efficiently is a learning technology (Burge 2001, p. 146). A well structured
face to face group discussion, a pencil, and print materials fit this definition as do newer tools such
as web based conferencing (ibid.). One of the greatest myths surrounding learning technologies is
related to what they are. Because of the term technology, it is frequently believed that learning
technologies are instructional devices that make use of computers, the Internet, or some other type
of electronic technology such as video and television.
Newer learning technologies are changing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2001).
Although frequently thought of as merely a delivery system, the role of technology should be to
create an environment that facilitates learning (Olgren 2000). No amount of hardware and software
can substitute for a poorly designed learning experience (Wagner 2001). In considering and
choosing learning technologies, the emphasis should always be on learning, with technology
playing a supporting role. Furthermore, no single technology is the answer to all teaching and
learning needs. Current pressures to put all the course materials on the web, for example, is too
simplistic an answer to very complex questions about learning style differences, the kinds and
levels of learning objectives and outcomes, the learning resources best suited to those objectives, the
communications infrastructure in place or needed, and limits to the money and staff skills
available (Burge 1999, p. 2).
Learning Technologies Are Neutral?
Another myth surrounding learning technologies is that they are neutral, that is, they are separate
from the social structures in which they are designed and they have no influence on the teaching
and learning environment (Miller 2001). Although questions about which technologies to choose to
accomplish pedagogical and intellectual purposes are important, the larger question of the
imperatives of the technology itself and how these shape what we do, how we think about
ourselves, and what we do

Parkinson s Disease Is A Chronic Neurodegenerative Disorder
Parkinson s disease is a chronic neurodegenerative disorder characterized by degeneration and
cell loss of the substantia nigra, which causes disturbances of voluntary motor control [5]. It
impairs ones ability to produce movements and is commonly associated with difficulties of daily
living. Parkinson s disease (PD) affects approximately 1.5% to 2.0% of the population over the
age of sixty years old [2] and ... it is estimated that 6 million individuals worldwide are currently
living with PD, [7] (pg323). Parkinson s sufferers often experience physical distress and an altered

important functional role in movement the generation of movement [4]. A deficiency of dopamine

Parkinson s disease. Parkinson s disease is identified as a chronic progressive neurodegenerative
disorder of the brain affecting the nigrostriatal dopaminergic system [1]. Among the basal ganglia
network, clusters of nerve cells known as substantia nigra and their nuclei, synthesize dopamine by

Why The Allies Won The Battle Of Normandy
Hitler and the Allies realized that a battle on the western coast of Europe would decide the outcome
of the war. The Allies utilized this knowledge and began immediately planning Operation Overlord.
Little did they know, the battle of Normandy would be the most significant Allied offensive battle
on the Western front(Walker). In total, the operation would take the combined effort of 176,475
men, 3,000 guns, 1,500 tanks, and 15,000 other assorted vehicles (Walker). People recognize the
glorious outcome of that fateful day, June 6,1944, but they don t know that it took months of
strategizing, training, and weather forecasts until Operation Overlordbecame a legend amongst
international armies. The planning of Operation Overlord began in 1943.... Show more content on

At first Operation Overlord was suppose to occur in May (Stagg 12),yet due to weather
forecasts the plan was pushed back to June. Another problem was that every branch of the
military wanted quiet weather . This entailed low tides so that the underwater obstacles could be
seen, the low tide needed to be around mid morning so that they could bomb the defenses and so
that a second low tide could roll in before darkness set in(Miller 171). The Air troops wanted no
ground fog or heavy mist, no more than 6/10th of the sky be clouded, and a cloud base at least
3,000 feet above ground level. To ensure that the troops were not too widely spread to the wind
speed would need to be 20 mph. With no gusts at the ground more than 30 mph(Stagg 13). The
demands of the Air troopers were reasonable especially since they were going to be the first ones
to land in the middle of the night and start the offensive. But, because of the weather many of the
paratroopers missed their target and were separated from their group. The infamous 101st
airborne was the only group that was able to stay together and suffer the least amount of
casualties( in the book Band of Brothers one soldier not in their platoon asks Where the hell am
I (Ambrose 75). Indicates the unorganized drops). After weekly updates( Eisenhower requested
that the meteorologists give him detailed updates of the weather since January 1944) the
operation was planned to go off on June 4, 1944. However, the sky began to seem ominous, and
the meteorologist had to warn Eisenhower that a cold front that was expected to pass through
Channel about Wednesday, would now be pushed forward earlier 24 or 36 hours earlier ( Stagg
102). With moments the operation was suspended. One day later on June 5,1944 paratroopers and
bombers were able to go across the skies with almost clear skies ( other parts of the skies

Food can be significant in people s lives for many...
Both Titus Andronicus and Grandpa s soup serve the purpose of entertaining the reader in
juxtaposing ways. Titus Andronicus is illustrative of the alarming horror that certain types of
cooking and food reinforce, whereas Grandpa s soup is representative of the warmth and affection
that certain types of food and cooking can bring. Themes portrayed in these texts such as death,
mortality, celebration, desperation, love and hate are looked at from completely different angles
through the literary techniques displayed by both writers, which will be analyzed and discussed in
this essay.
First of all, the celebratory atmosphere created in both texts highlight the horror/happiness. For
example, in Titus Andronicus, ingredients of human flesh ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In contrast, Grandpa s Soup signifies that Grandpa s cooking provides her with genuine pleasure
not just contentment or satisfaction but something greater therefore she goes onto talk about her
fear of losing him, which overcasts a melancholic shadow over the whole poem. The writer
understands that death is a natural process that she cannot stop but she goes on to say how it will
affect her living life as she will be emotionally torn apart and carry the burden of pain throughout
with the absence of her Grandpa and his remedial soup.
There is evidence of figurative language that is very effective in outlining and comprehending
the character s point of view in Grandpa s Soup for example the simile like a rich island in the
middle of the soup sea . The hyperbole assists in getting her ideas across. Describing the soup as
a sea represents the depth of the character s feelings associated with the soup, and her Grandpa.
This is reinforced by the yearning that is evident through her language, for example he knows I
will grow and pine for it. I will fall ill and desperately need it this could be seen as deep emotive
language that shows her desperation and strong will to hold onto her Grandpa forever and the
fact that she draws from the semantic field of health shows that the soup is so important to her it s
like a cure or a medicine for all her illnesses. The desperate people

Environmental Effects On Environment

Through industrial development we have diminished our soil, ruined farmland, trees and have
caused extinction of various species. All of these natural resources took over hundreds of millions
years to form and Americans have destroyed them all for the need to build more. David Brower a
prominent environmentalist says we have diminished our soil, fisheries, fossil fuels and we have
changed the climate. We caused the extinction of countless species by half. Over consumption has
reached a point of harming Americans health and the overall environment. According to John De
Graaf, David Wann and Thomas H. Naylor sixty nine acres of prime Americanfarmland are lost to
development. Once you cut down and pave over farms the land is gone forever. The very thing that
humanity relies on is being taken for granted. Americas increase in consumption does have benefits
but the negative effects on the environment, American health and family outweigh the positive.
What once was an abundance of natural resources is now becoming hard to find. The magnitude
that this type of industrial development has on the environment is irreversible. The damage we are
doing can never be undone. Through our constant need for more we have managed to change the
climate. American Farmland Trust points out how 24 million acres of agricultural land has been
developed since 1982. In Bloomington Minnesota on over 100 acres stands the Potomac Mills

  • 2. Equilibrium Reactions and Le Chatelier s Principle Lab: 5 Experiment:13 Pre Lab The purpose of this experiment is to observe an equilibrium reaction counteracting changes to it s system all in accordance to Le Chatelier s principle. An equilibrium reaction can be pushed toward products or reactant based on changes in temperature or concentration. The reversibility of reaction will also be looked at. Pre Lab questions 1. The concentrations of products and concentrations of reactants remain constant but both reactions are still going on, just at the same rate. 2. Le Chatelier s principle when an equilibrium has been established in a system and is altered, the systems will counteract the change. 3. a) it will go to the left b) to the left c) to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the equilibrium lies to the right, the solution is basic and will be yellow. The first solution turns pink because the HCl is a strong acid and methyl orange is pink in acidic solutions. The equilibriums shift to the left side showing an increase in the amount of acid in the solution that is why the color changes to pink. The concentration of the solution then turns yellow because NaOH is a base and turns yellow in a basic solution. The equilibrium is shifted to the right when the NaOH is added. | [pic] |[pic] | | colourless (Acid) | pink (Base) | Phenolphthalein is a weak acid and does not fully dissociate ergo it creates an equilibrium. When the HCl is added, the equilibrium is to the left, The concentration of the anions is too low for the pink color to be observed. However, the NaOH is a strong base and makes the solution s equilibrium shift to the right. The concentration of the anion becomes sufficient for the pink color to be observed. 4. Both test tubes appear red with the acetic acid with the methyl orange. This indicates that the equilibrium lies toward the acid. CH3COOH(aq) (( H+(aq) + CH3COO (aq) Redyellow 5. • 3. Artificial Intelligence In Black Mirror s Be Right Back In the Black Mirror episode, Be Right Back , Ash and Martha are a couple in the process of moving into Ash s empty childhood home when Ash dies suddenly in a car accident. Racked with grief, Martha chooses to utilize a software technology that takes all of Ash s digital presence (videos, photos, audio, social media posts, etc.) and recreates Ash s personality to allow her to speak with this new A.I version of him via the phone and online. After a while, Martha decides she wants more and opts to upload the software to a fully functioning robotic clone of Ash. What she soon realizes is that what makes Ash the person she knew and loved cannot be replicated by A.I. Unlike Ash, the robot does whatever Martha tells it to do and is overly agreeable... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Martha has sex with the robot, it is clearly a more lasting performance than Ash s (as was shown earlier in the episode). Even though the mechanics of having sex with the robot are better than with Ash, this only serves to highlight that the robot is better at something than Ash, but in the doing so, fails at being an accurate duplicate of him.Descartes believed that machines could never express their thoughts or respond to the meaning of what has been said to them ( (Irwin, Brown and Decker , Terminator and Philosophy: I‛ll Be Back, Therefore I am 22). It s true that artificial intelligence can communicate, however, it is never really expressing its own conscious thoughts while doing so since consciousness is what is missing. This brings us back to that cliffside. When Martha tells the robot to jump, it responds with, I never expressed suicidal thoughts. Or self harm. , implying that it would if human Ash had those thoughts, and only for that reason. She replies with, yeah well, you aren t you, are you? . He then tells her the question is a difficult one to process (Harris). Without a mind, the robot cannot understand the nuances and gravity of this very human conversation and only interacts the way it perceives Martha wants it to. Until Martha yells at it for not having a normal human response to such a request as jumping off a cliff, there is no emotional inflection or reaction on the robot s part.Is there a way to prove whether ... • 4. Stamps By Maya Angelou Essay Maya starts explaining how after their parents decided to sent them away after putting and end to their calamitous marriage (Angelou 5) they arrived to Stamps after travelling alone from California; Maya realized later that this event was done also by other frightened Black children to their newly affluent parents in Northern cities or back to grandmothers in Southern towns (6). In Stamps, they met Momma and Uncle Willie, and they lived in the Store. The process of adaptation took Maya and Bailey a little bit of time, but finally Stamps, and particularly the Store, was her favorite place to be . However, the South then becomes a forceful determinant in the locus of Angelou s text. Southern life, as Angelou demonstrates, is one of harshness and brutality. It is exemplified by the conditions under which the workers of Stamps lived, the fear engendered by the Ku Klux Klan (whites), the wanton murder of Black folks, the racial separation of the town, and the innumerable incidents of denigration which made life in the South an abomination against God and Man. (Afzal 4) In Stamps the segregation was so complete that most Black children didn t really, absolutely know what whites looked like. Other than they were different, to be dreaded, and in that dread was included the hostility of the powerless against the powerful, the poor against... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both Bryant and Durand investigated the themes of men, nature, individualism, and the inner and after lives. • 8. In modern times, a couple usually does not plan to get... In modern times, a couple usually does not plan to get married less than a week after meeting. Yet in the small Italian town of Messina in William Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing, the young Claudio and Hero plan to get married as soon as possible. That is, until Claudio is fed false information that Hero is not a virgin and slanders her at the altar. During the Elizabethan erawhen this play was written, most female roles and women in general were treated without respect as Hero was and were only prized on their physical characteristics. Much Ado About Nothing was an important play in the Elizabethan era because it dealt with social class boundaries and the roles of women. Although the Elizabethan Era influenced theater greatly,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Elizabethan women were being taught that they were practically property of men. They could be forced into arranged marriages in order to create bonds between families and were taught to be dependent on their male relatives (Alchin). Social class and one s status in society could also coincide with how they were treated on an everyday basis (Alchin). With these many events that would change the world forever came changes in the theater that would change it forever, too. James Burbage, a prominent Elizabethan actor, built the first Elizabethan playhouse and called it the Theatre (Yancey 25). The Theatre, built in 1576, would go on to set a precedent in the design of all playhouses of the era (Senn). The building was probably round or octagonal and had no ceiling so as to let in natural light since no efficient artificial lighting had been invented at this point in time (Yancey 25). Because of the need for natural light during plays, most performances took place during the afternoon (Yancey 29). On the inside of the Theatre, the stage extended to be a raised rectangle that took up about half of the ground floor (Yancey 30). Above it was a balcony on which acting could occur, such as the balcony scene from Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet (Yancey 31). Finally, past the back end of the stage was a concealed room called the Tiring House that served as storage for props and a dressing room for any actors during a performance (Senn). ... • 9. Higher Courts Ensure Federal Laws Among All States Higher courts help to ensure that federal law carries out evenly among all states; a message of unity isn t sent when each state has its own exceptions to the law. Higher courts also look at the overall picture and the impact that the law has; the point is that federal law is the main concern, and state law doesn t make much difference. Therefore, it is necessary for the higher courts to step in and ensure that any issues at a federal level reign the same in any court/lower judicial system. There are three important factors that are used to determine if higher courts should accept a case on certiorari. The first is a split in the circuits, meaning that because of the importance of the case, it needs to be heard in a higher court. It is important to note that an obvious grant would occur in a conflict among circuits. The second point is polity in which events such as segregation have a significant impact in how society operates (Murphy, Pritchett, Epstein Knight, 2006). The third factor is legal importance specifically confusion of interpretation or societal importance. There are a couple of examples that point out the importance of federal law and these three points listed above. One example is U.S. vs. Nixon which proves that not only is no one individual above the law no matter their title, but also one that needed to be addressed by a higher court to make the right decision and set an example for future cases if they were ever to occur; this supports the first factor ... • 10. The Miles Between Cultural Differences Everyone has a different way of life, whether it be by the way you talk, dress, or eat. Or maybe how you dance, sing, and perform. These aspects of everyday life is called culture. Everybody in the world has a culture, but not all cultures are the same from person to person. In the book, The Miles Between, a group of teens, who attend a boarding school, have a different way of life than I do. Even though there is many differences between our cultures, there are still some similarities peeping through all the differences. One of the most important parts of culture, I believe, is who influenced you to grow your culture, and who influenced you to act the way you act. Therefore, family is a big part in controlling your culture. If you are Destiny Faraday, the main character of The Miles Between, you do not have a family, or anybody to rely on. No mother, father, sister, nor brother, nobody to raise her into the way she is, and to help her create her culture. Destiny witnessed her parents and her brother Gavin die in a plane crash at the age of seven. That was a very traumatic incident she had to witness at such a young age, my parents and Gavin are dead (Pearson, 230). The quote was her telling her friends that her parents are no longer alive. This is a large differencebecause I still have my parents, and they have raised me my whole life, which has a big affect on how my culture is developed and experienced. • 11. The Use Of Diuretics And Its Effects On Quality Of Life While laxatives may be necessary for short term, acute cases of constipation, they are contraindicated for long term use. Overuse of laxatives can cause a reduction in colon motility, diarrhea, and incontinence (Day et al., 2014). This leads a cycle of chronically alternating constipation and diarrhea that significantly affects quality of life. Over use of laxatives is also associated with dehydration, tachycardia, and electrolyte imbalances. These side effects not only affect quality of life but can exacerbate other comorbid medical conditions (Day et al., 2014). Non pharmacological interventions are much safer. Most have few to no side effects. In the dietary fiber studies mentioned above, gastrointestinal symptoms were the only side effects reported, and even those were not significantly different than the symptoms reported by the placebo group (Gallegos Orozco et al, 2011; Lever, Cole, J., Scott, Emery, Whelan, 2014; Yang et al., 2012). Even patients without constipation, and those with diarrhea symptoms have healthier bowel movements with an increase in dietary fiber (Rodrigues Fisher et al., 1993). Exercise, probiotics, biofeedback, and education likewise have no negative side effects, and can even positively affect other chronic health conditions. Auguste Marie Louis Nicolas and Louis Jean were born in BesanГ§on, France during 1895. During this era, he and his brother would be the first to launch a motion picture. They had shot their first motion picture with a sweeping invention, which combined the camera and a projector, they named it the CinГЁmatographe. The LumiГЁre Brothers had many technological contributions to cinema, along with their technological significances in the filmindustry. The LumiГЁre Brothers had many career highlights, lasting impacts on not only the development of motion pictures but the importance they brought out to many individuals including themselves during this early era of new beginnings. The LumiГЁre Brothers were both technically minded and overshadowed many other individuals in the sciences; they both attended a technical school so that they could prosper their technical ability. They were inspired to build such a tool that would prosper film into what it is today. Auguste and Louis LumiГЁre s father Antoine LumiГЁre was well known painters and attended and Edison s exhibition relating to an invention he had created called the Kinetoscope. This exhibition showcased the Kinetoscope in Paris and he had told them you should try to develop a cheaper alternative to the peephole film viewing device that its bulky camera counterpart (Pruitt 1). Listening to their father s advice they both took it into consideration and did exactly what they had been implied to do. The Kinetoscope only did one job, which let the machine play a film but it could only be watched by on individual at a time through the small hole that could be looked through which was located at the top of the contraption. The brothers went straight to work with their new product so that they could build a tool where many people could vision motion pictures at the same time while having it projected onto a screen or plan background of some sort. By 1894 both of the brothers had invented the CinГЁmatographe which projected film of 16 frames per second. The CinГЁmatographe was completely different from the Kinetoscope. Many differing factors went into the development into the CinГЁmatographe. For example, it was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Poem Analysis On His Coy Mistress By Andrew Marvell Andrew Marvell wrote a unique love poem in To His Coy Mistress, as this poem expresses far more than one might expect or even perceive upon the first reading. Enveloped in this ode to a cherished muse are expressions of the carpe diem philosophy, laments about the impending doom of death, and hopes to transcend contemporary abilities to live forever in the love of another. While Marvell s primary purpose in writing this piece may have been to woo a young maiden, he made a far more significant contribution to the era s literary culture in the process. Marvell most directly addressed To His Coy Mistress to a woman he intended to court, as he spends a majority of the piece lamenting that he didn t have time sufficient to praise her features. In the opening stanza, Marvell states that, Had we but world enough, and time.... An hundred years should go yo praise.... An age at least to every part, / And the last age should show your heart (Marvell 1 18). While Marvell ones not directly praise or describe his muse in any way, he does emphasize how extraordinarily praiseworthy she be, and this idea forms the basis for the philosophical wonderings and realizations that comprised the following stanzas. Thus, Marvell addressed his poem at a potential lover for the purpose of courting her on an unknown occasion, but the real significance of the poem lies in the later ideas he presented to fulfill this purpose. In his second stanza, Marvell takes a drastic turn from the romantic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The hydrological cycle is a never ending cycle that keeps us alive. The path begins with: Evaporation when water evaporates in the form of water vapor by the heat of the sun and enters the air. Transpiration Water enters the air when plants breathe in a process known as transpiration. Condensation the process which water vapor in the air turns into liquid and forms clouds. Rain drops often form when water vapor comes in contact with dust in the air. Clouds Clouds are a mass of water or ice droplets in the air. An example of a cloud next to the earth s surface is fog. The oceans cover about 71 percent of the Earth which makes the ocean a key factor in storing and transferring heat energy around the world. Inconsistency in the heating of the earth gives rise to global wind patterns. Since the wind patterns are constant, the winds create steady movements in the water known as currents. When the air blows across the surface of a body of water, the water begins to move from small waves to larger waves. When the water starts to move it is subject to the Coriolis Effect (The Coriolis Effect, the pattern of the wind movement and the arrangement of landmasses are responsible for the large scale patterns of wind driven surface currents in the ocean) and begins to bend redirecting the water to the right of the direction of the wind in the Northern Hemisphere and to the left in the Southern Hemisphere. GETTYSBURG ADDRESS (19 NOVEMBER 1863) [1] Fourscore and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal ( Abraham Lincoln). We meet at a time of tension between the United States and Muslims around the world tension rooted in historical forces that go beyond any current policy debate (Barack Obama). All of these are the starting point of great changes. These famous historical figures are considered Outsiders The Term Outsider Literally means One who does not belong to a particular group. Perception is the main key in deciding if someone belongs when they are an outsider. If you look at it from one group they don t belong and from another they do. One of the most famous outsiders in history is Martin Luther King. He was considered this because he decided to take a stance against what s normal and average. He wanted to have equal rights for both African Americans and Caucasians. By doing this he was considered an outsider by all people. They either stood with him or against him during his outside revolution. Although he did not like to be considered an outsider as shown by this quote Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere. Anyone who lives in the US can never be considered an outsider anywhere in the country He was an outsider by trying to make no one feel like an outsider themselves. So throughput this he didn t belong to the groups trying not to allow equal rights. But to the people, he stood up with he was a leader and belonged to their group, therefore even if you don t feel like you belong with the group you re in, you have a network. The next outsider is Our famous 16th president Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln was considered the rail splitting candidates throughout his campaign and presidency. We first have to understand where CRISPR comes into play, and that is genomic editing. Genome editing is where engineered nucleases are either inserted, replaced, or deleted in a living organism s genome, and genomic editing is done with the help of the system CRISPR. For researchers who perform mRNA microinjection or mRNA transfection. The applications for CRISPR Cas 9 are endless. There are two types of editing that are commonly used: homologous recombination and non homologous end joining(NHEJ). Homologous recombination utilizes a repair template The desired changes, such as gene knock out, gene tagging, and specific mutations, are flanked by left and right homologous arm sequences. Upon double cross over the desired changes integrate into the genome. In non homologous end joining the ends are joined together and introduce random mutations. Both types are used to remedy double strand breaks (DSBs), but homologous recombination is highly preferred over NHEJ because this type of editing is extremely error prone. It can delete or add genetic information and cause chromosomal translocations. So why aren t we using these mechanisms on humans in order to control our genetic makeup? Persuasive Essay On Positivity Perhaps, the worst quote on positivity that I have ever heard was from the German scientist, Max Planck: When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. According to this philosophy, we only need to visualize success in order to achieve it. This is just another claim amidst a growing plague of positivity. Today, we witness an overload of positive thinking, in which self help books, lectures, and workshops claim that happiness begins with a positive outlook. Undoubtedly, the conclusion to this problem is not a shift towards self hate, but rather a dose of reality, of recognizing the possibility of a negative outcome, and of the acceptance that not everything, all the time, will be perfect. Ultimately, positivity has a negative side. Assuredly, we have all heard, in the wake of complaining about a problem, someone countering, don t worry; everything will be alright. Where, however, is the validation of this claim of positivity? Especially, now, more than ever, as I submit my college applications, seemingly everyone I know tries to reassure me with positive aphorisms. Although hints of truth may lie in their assertions, the absolutism of everything being cheery is absurd. Unfortunate events do happen. Nothing is black and white; nothing is absolute. This positive thinking leads many into denial. We say that we are okay, but really we are struggling to cope with all of the problems that life throws at us. Dr. Banschick asserts, People who use positive thinking as a defense are trying to not feel anxious when they should. As human beings, we are not to be happy, positive people all the time. In fact, many psychiatrists consider being constantly positive a manic disorder. We are, however, meant to experience all of the highs and lows in life, not masking hardships with smiles and agreeing nods. This summer, when my dog, my grandfather, and two of my friends passed away, many friends attempts to console me resulted in a light, cheerful maxim followed by everything will be alright. • 34. The Potential Factors Affecting The Environment 1.INTRODUCTION Biodiversity term used for the variety and variability between all types of living organisms such as microorganisms, plants and animals available in a particular area covered by natural conditions. The term biological diversity first coined by Norse and Mc Mangus in 1980 (Rawat and Khare, 2010). According to the U.S. Office of Technology Assessment (1987), biological diversity is the variety and variability among living organisms and the ecological complexes in which they occur. Biological diversity fabricates variability of gene, species and ecosystem (P.D.Sharma, 2015). It is essential for maintain the basic process on which life depends and is a key to sustainable development (Jerath and Chadha, 2006). The heterogeneity of the environment increases the number of resources and results in a higher diversity. Agitation is one of the main factors affecting variation in species (K. Premalatha, 2013). 1.1 Biodiversity of India India is one of the twelve mega biodiversity countries of the world. • 35. Empathy Star Trek Star Trek: TNG and the Cultivation of Empathy In this paper, I argue that watching Star Trek: The Next Generation cultivates empathy. Empathy is a good that human beings ought to develop and having a sense of empathy is one of the best things in life. Empathy consists in the capacity to understand what another person is going through from their perspective. The reason that a sense of empathy is one of the best things in life is that it is impossible to have deep and meaningful relationships with others when we don t have empathy. Without empathy, we inevitably turn inward and live a lonely life. For this reason, empathy is one of the best things in life. Regular watching of Star Trek: TNG increases our capacity for empathy. The reason why this is the case is that watching acts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now characters in Star Trek: TNG routinely show empathetic concern for one another. For instance, when a race of cyborgs capture Jean Luc Picard (captain of the Enterprise on the show), the crew of the Enterprise do everything in their power to rescue Picard. One of their main motivations for rescuing Picard is their experience of the sense of distress that he experiences while in captivity. This is just one instance where empathy is shown in the program, but it happens on a regular basis. In sum, watching Star Trek: TNG increases our capacity for empathy because the characters regularly display empathy on the show and because we tend to imitate the actions that we see other human beings performing. Someone might object to this argument by pointing out that characters on the show also display cruelty that involves a lack of empathy. For instance, in one episode a malevolent being kills one of the members for the crew for no apparent reason. If we watch this cruelty, then perhaps we ourselves might behave more cruelly. • 39. How Horses Changed The Lifestyle Of Indians The introduction of horses has changed the lifestyle of Indians dramatically. The change, however, has a good and a bad side. In the article, HГ¤mГ¤lГ¤inen indicated that Horses did bring new possibilities, prosperity, and power to Plains Indians, but they also brought destabilization, dispossession, and destruction (834). It happened in the late sixteenth century when the Spanish approached the Great Plain. The horse changed the lives of buffalo hunters who turned to hunt for trade from that for survival. The core of Comancbe pastoralism was intensive trade in horses and mules, which was stimulated by a shifting political and economic geography (HГ¤mГ¤lГ¤inen, 837). The tribes of the southern Plains had to make a balance between the trade economy based on horses and the subsistence economy based on bison. The southern Plains Indiansbecame pastoral people who mainly lived on hunting and horse keeping. On the positive side, the horse has brought wealth to Southern Plains Indians. On the negative side, it ended up as a disaster for the grassland ecology and led to famine and drought. Pueblo Revolt was led by the Pueblo Indians who drove the Spanish out of New Mexico, confiscated their horse herds, and embarked on a vigorous livestock (HГ¤mГ¤lГ¤inen, 836). • 40. Biocology And The Conservation Of Wildlife And Wildlife... Introduction This research paper is going to be based on a few focal points. The first topic this essay is going to cover is how local communities can be aided by government efforts to conserve biodiversity. The second half will consist of examples showing how species can be both positively and negatively affected by conservation efforts. Local v. Government The biology aspect of this paper is ecology. So, how is wildlife conservation related to ecology? Since the suffix ology means the study of and eco is short for ecosystems or environments, ecology is the study of environments and how the living organisms interact within these habitats. The word wildlife was used to refer to animal species that are undomesticated, but was revised and currently includes a larger variety of organisms. These organisms were not introduced by humans and include species like animals, fungi, and plants. Both wildlife and ecology are used to describe organisms and where their habitats are located. If someone wanted to directly compare ecology and wildlife, they could almost say that ecology is the study of wildlife because wildlife includes biotic (living) factors that are located in an ecosystem. Another example of how the two are related is that they are both constantly changing. Both wildlife and ecology can be affected by multiple influences. These factors could be natural, like natural disturbances or an introduction of a new species. They could also be impacted by man made ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Mary As A Disciple ( Mariology ) Mary as a Disciple (Mariology) Mary was the mother to Jesus Christ, the Messiah, and has been a focus of theological discussion since about the second century. A title that was given to her by the Council of Ephesus in 431 C.E. This is obviously where all theological debate dealing with Mariology comes from. To Catholics, Mary is a sign of hope in this fading world. To protestant Christians, Mary is also known as the mother of God. However, many protestant theologians believe that Mary should be honored but within certain limits. The Old Testament in the Holy Biblespecifically says in Exodus 34:14, Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God . In the New Testament it says in 1 John 5:21, Little children, keep yourselves from idols . Martin Luther (a German professor of Theology, and founder of the Lutheran Church) was quick to say that Mary should be honored but to only what is fitting. Karl Barth (a reformed protestant theologian) explained that through Mary, Jesus was human, and through Jesus, she is the divine mother of God, and is full of grace that was still given to her by God the Father. In considering and choosing learning technologies, the emphasis should always be on learning, with technology playing a supporting role. All of these natural resources took over hundreds of millions years to form and Americans have destroyed them all for the need to build more. David Brower a prominent environmentalist says we have diminished our soil, fisheries, fossil fuels and we have changed the climate. We caused the extinction of countless species by half. The damage we are doing can never be undone. Through our constant need for more we have managed to change the climate. American Farmland Trust points out how 24 million acres of agricultural land has been developed since 1982. In Bloomington Minnesota on over 100 acres stands the Potomac Mills ...
