Life In Ancient Greece
The Greeks wore light, loose clothes as the weather was hot for most of the year. Long pieces of
colourful fabric were used to make the Greek clothes.
Men would wear a tunic, called a chiton. It was made out of large squares of linen or wool ( wool for
winter and linen for summer) held in place by pins at the shoulders and a belt around the waist
The women wore similar things to the men. They used pins in various places to hold it together.
Unlike the men s, the dresses always went down to the ankles.
The way children were educated was different in each city state.
In Sparta, reading and writing was unimportant. Boys learned to be good fighters.
In Athens citizens had to be educated to take part in voting in the Assembly. Athenian boys also went
to wrestling school each day, to learn many sports, not just wrestling. They had to be fit, to fight in ...

They ate with their fingers, drinking wine mixed with water.

consisted of grains, wheat, fruit, vegetables, breads, and cake.
Men: In most households men had the power and were in charge. The men were expected to be part of
the military and fight if threatened. Only men were citizens and the men had to be over the age of 17
Women: Women were not citizens. The women were on the same level as slaves, And they were not
educated. A woman was owned by her father until she married which was some age between 14 and
16 then she would become property of her husband who was chosen by her father. If the husband died
she would not receive anything that belonged to the him, it would be passed on to the nearest male
relative. Women were also expected to be fit and healthy to give birth to healthy children ( boys were

Indigenous People Groups In Canada
Different indigenous people groups had possessed what is presently Canada for a large number of
years before European colonization. Starting in the sixteenth century, English and French cases were
made on the region, with the state of Canada initially being built up by the French in 1535 amid
Jacques Cartier s second voyage to New France. As a result of different clashes, Extraordinary
England picked up and lost domains inside English North America until the point that it was left, in
the late eighteenth century, with what for the most part geologically involves Canada today. Compliant
with the English North America Act, on July 1, 1867, the states of Canada, New Brunswick, and Nova
Scotia joined to shape the semi self governing government

Descriptive Essay About Dogs
When most people think about dogs, they say that they are man s best friend. Although this is true,
they are much more than that. They are your family. They are the only animal in the world who does
not care if you are not perfect, and will love you not matter what you do. This is what dogs truly are.
When you realize this is true about all dogs, it makes it even harder to let them go.
We just came home from vacation at Gatlinburg. Even though we had so much fun at Gatlinburg, we
could not wait to get home to our five loving, adorable, and amazing dogs. Our bird, Ozzy, also waited
impatiently upon our arrival. When we finally got into the house, we were tackled by four small dogs
and a bird attacking our heads. One of our dogs was still on the couch though. Usually she, Lugnut,
was the first one out the door. Automatically we knew something was wrong.
We took her to the vet right away. It felt like we spent eternity waiting for the veterinarian to come out
and check on Lugnut. Then, we had to wait even longer to finally figure out what was wrong. I was
hoping there was nothing wrong and the reason Luggy did not come and greet us was because she was
mad we left her alone with the other four dogs and Ozzy. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
The vet said that she had some type of Lymphoma cancer. Luggy had two weeks to a couple of
months left. The vet, also, said that she probably would not live past Christmas. Bruke wrote, This

Good Night And Good Luck Analysis
Legendary CBS News broadcaster Edward R. Murrow is a journalist who made history with exposing
Senator Joseph R. McCarthy. Although the story will go down in history, with the help of the movie
Good Night, and Good Luck directed by George Clooney, how much is known of the historically
accurate story. While some could argue that George Clooney and producer, Grant Heslov, made the
screenplay naive, others disagree. Many may even state that it was well researched and followed the
original weekly CBS story, See It Now, accurately. Both are easily arguable.
In the movie, Good Night, and Good Luck, it is portrayed that many people or news companies were
too afraid of McCarthy to stand up to him. Although by the time the show, See It Now, aired on the
9th of March, 1954, many people wanted to remove McCarthy from chairman. Many Republicans
joined Democrats in publicly denouncing him, including Richard Nixon. Many would state that
mainstream news was also very anti McCarthy, including Time Magazine and Chicago Tribune.
Another red flag that may make people question the accurateness of this film is the changing in minor
details, including the beginning of this movie when the date of the RTDNA Convention in Chicago is
displayed on October 25th , 1985 when the Convention was held on October 12th, 1958 . Also,
Murrow s keynote address is introduced by a man who talks about the issues that Murrow reported on
. This includes exploitation of migrant workers, while this is true, Murrow

on the prejudices displayed in the story. He praises Steinbeck s development of the characters and the
friendship between George and Lennie. He agrees that although George and Lennie s dream to have a
farm is unreachable their friendship is what makes the story so appealing to readers. Topham relates
George and Lennie s troubles to those of the modern day world. He writes how the friendship between
the two boys is a shining example of how even though the world is harsh at times, love and friendship
can still exist. Topham gives the example of George and Lennie s friendship as support of this idea.
Topham emphasizes that there is always an upside to bad times and uses the struggles of the main
characters to prove his idea. Topham does not provide any evidence besides George and Lennie s
friendship to support his ideas and opinion of Mice and Men. While Topham does explain

The Sun Is The Only Star
The sun that sends out light to our world is not considered as sun in the evening; it is called as a star in
general because of its structure and history which most of the stars in the universe similarly have. The
sun is a naturally giant star that contains many elements, and magnetically sucks everything that is
close by into its body. Moreover, this almost spherical star, along with its strong gravity, consists of
the fire and lava that are made from the elements, burns and melts down all of the small meteorites
that pass by. The sun is seen to be dangerous as described, but helpful for our planet. It brings the
warmness and light to our lives, and which daytime exists, humans and creatures start working and
smiling with happiness and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I tried look straight to the sun just for a few seconds. The outcome turned out that I was color blind for
a while. If I have starred at the sun for a minute, I would be blind for life. Another bad example, that
the atmosphere does not protect us from the sun, is our skins. The sun made every uncovered parts of
my body turn darker. When this happened, it took me months to recover my uncovered skin to have
the same color with the covered skin. I do not try to be offensive about the protection of the
atmosphere from the sun, but this is the true. The sun is dangerous, yet it also can be very helpful and
effective to our lives.
The sun allows species, such as human being, on earth to live until they are old enough to leave and
say goodbye to the material world. There is nothing that can replace the sun that is always helping our
lives and planet out of death and extinction. Other stars, indeed, have the same function as our sun
does, but they are too far away from our planet. They are just little dots that appear during night time
to make sky look pretty and fancy. Although our sun is better than other stars at bringing light and
warmness to us, it does not help us at all in the evening because it is in the opposite side of the earth.
What makes the sun disappear at one side of the earth at night and appear at and shines the other side?
That is caused by the spinning movement of our earth. Adding to that, our

Compare And Contrast Gilgamesh And Enkidu
Gilgamesh and Enkidu are obviously doubles of each other, but yet they still manage to inspire
Gilgamesh to become a better leader. Gilgamesh is the King who is known by everyone and seems to
have a lot of power and influence over everyone and Enkidu is the same way, only in the beginning he
wasn t known and was a threat by huntsmen and other people. Both Gilgamesh and Enkidu are two of
the strongest men that people recognize and intelligent. They both have the arrogant personality of
knowing how special that they truly are. Even though Gilgamesh beats Enkidu in their fight that they
have, they decide to be friends with each other while acknowledging Enkidu s wishes of not sleeping
with the bride. (pages 46 47). I feel like this was a learning

Ancient Mariner Innocence

Innocence vs. Experience
a.
The poem The Rime of Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge is about the ancient mariner
narratives his experience of being saved from a ship without wind or sails to the wedding guests. In
this poem, the idea of innocence and experienced is demonstrated:
God save thee, ancient Mariner!
From the fiends, that plague thee thus!
Why look st thou so? With my cross bow
I shot the ALBATROSS (line 79 82).
The mariners have nothing but the ALBATROSS plays with them on the ship. I believe the
ALBATROSS is the symbol of innocence and nature; this is the reason why the author capitalized this
word. The ALBATROSS remained above the ship for days and the weather becomes misty, which is
abnormal; consequently, the ancient mariner shoots it because he believed there might be something ...

Motorcycle Insurance Essay
Motorcycle Insurance
Motorcycle Insurance is a provision of financial protection in the event of an accident, loss, theft or
any damage to your motorcycle. This includes liability coverage for any property damage or injuries
that were endured to the other person.
Some ways to customize a policy:
Full Replacement Coverage o This covers the total cost of the motorcycle when it has been totaled
Comprehensive Coverage o Pays for the loss or damage that occurs in a non accident situation
(weather damage, animal damage and theft)
Medical Coverage o Covers any medical care or hospitalization costs that you acquire
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorists Coverage o These cover the costs of the other driver when they are
underinsured or uninsured and are at fault of the accident
Damage or Loss of Gear or Upgrades o These are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both depend on your policy and your carrier. For other riders if the minimum liability was purchased,
other riders may not be provided. This also depends on the other rider being a passenger while the
motorcycle was being operated by the policyholder or if it was loaned to another cyclist. These
conditions can be discussed with your insurance agent.
For track day coverage, if covered, there are several exclusions that many apply. An example would be
not covering accidents that occur during a race, timed event or speed test; however they will pay out
for accidents that occur on a track during which you are riding for the purpose of improving bike
handling skills as to become a safer more defensive driver.
Michigan Law and Motorcycle Insurance
According to Michigan state law, motorcycles are not considered a motor vehicle. Due to this
motorcyclists are exempt in purchasing no fault insurance coverage. Although they are exempt, no
fault insurance benefits are still available to motorcycle accident victims. The benefits provide:
Medical expenses and mileage
Wage loss
Replacement services

The Book Ruth

The Book of Ruth
History is something that every human being must refer to and it cannot be helped. It does not matter
if you work in fashion design, an artist in an art studio, or working for an automobile company such as
Ford; we all reference what the past has taught us. It is foolish to press forward and not look back to
discover how others achieved great heights, or to prevent great tragedy and disaster. No one wants to
see another Nazi Germany, but we all want to see an Independance day. The bible is just as diverse
and wide in the subjects of life and faith. We can look back into its pages and see time unfolding
before our very eyes. Most likely, anyone who has read Matthew has seen the genealogy of Jesus and
seen the name of this woman; Ruth. Today, we are going to discuss the book of Ruth and how it
foreshadows Jesus Christ in the gospels. When talking about who wrote this book and when, we must
keep in mind that the bible was put together in chronological order as events had taken place. The
book seems to take place during the time of Judges (Flemming, 308). Scholars and researchers have
debated who wrote the book and when. Seeing that in Ruth 4:18 22 references King David in
genealogy, the prophet Samuel has been thought to have written the book between the dates of 1011
and 931 B.C. (Book) This has been difficult to prove because if Samuel did write the book, then

Engine 6 Analysis
Most, if not all, pieces of railroad machinery have had various changes made from their original form
while in service. Engine 6, a 36 gauge 8 18 D 74 mogul built in October of 1891 by the Burnham,
Williams Co. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as construction number 12288 for the Surry, Sussex, and

The Swatch Company Lead By Nicolas G
This case begins with highlighting the success that had now gripped the Swatch Company lead by
Nicolas G. Hayek. Due to strong numbers from 2010 the company set the goal to make 10 billion.
This was only made possible by their multiple different brands across multiple different segments,
innovative technology, and coming out of a brief period of difficulty with their most profitable
flagship watch, Omega. The company now sets its sight on a new goal, surpassing the long established
brand, Rolex. In order to try and tackle this giant, the company and CEO debate how to best attract
potential customers through advertising, overall message, and through possible overseas ventures in
the United States.
As I said before Swatch wasn t always this successful. In fact, according to the case, in the 1960 s
their market share fell about 41% due to competition from the then popular inexpensive watches.
Throughout this time period it is interesting to see how their strategies evolved in regards to their
competition, product placement, and brand management. First, they opted try to combat the
inexpensive watches by making an inexpensive quartz watch which they later discarded. Another
watchmaking group took their idea which forced the company to move to the more high end market
and as a result they saw their sales drop. I don t have all the details regarding their decision of course,
but it appears that they seemed almost indecisive on how to handle the low cost alternative. It would

Double Effect
The objective of this paper is to prove that the Doctrine of Double Effect (DDE), proposed by Saint
Thomas Aquinas, is a valid moral principle. It has been concluded that the DDE is a valid moral
principle as it allows one to justify whether an action will cause two diverse effects and whether the
effects are permissible. It is crucial to establish the validity of the DDE because it has been applied to
defend a significant number of contemporary controversial issues (McIntyre). In order to determine
whether the DDE is a valid moral principle, the definition of the doctrine itself as well as conditions
involved will be demonstrated. In addition, each condition will be applied to differentiate two
examples that result in the same outcomes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The doctor was aware that his choice would result in the death of one patient. However, the death of
one patient compared to five was able to justify that action. Therefore, the doctors choice of dividing
medication into four equal proportions to save the lives of four out of five patients is able to satisfy all
the conditions of DDE and therefore it is permissible for the doctor to make such a decision.
The doctor s choice in the Organ Shortage scenario is impermissible. From a quantitative point of
view, it may seem the doctor s choice is permissible as it resulted in the death of one patient as
opposed to four. However, the death of the patient is not a side effect of curing the four other patients.
Moreover, the death of the fifth patient has been used as a means to achieve the good end. The doctor
s choice fails to meet the conditions of DDE as the doctor withheld medication from a patient whose
life depended on the medication. Therefore, it has been concluded that the doctor s choice is
impermissible.
The above scenarios may seem identical as the doctor made the decision that was able to save the
greatest number of people. However, it has been identified that the circumstances were different and
As the two similar actions are distinguished, the creditability of the DDE in relation to justifying
controversial issues has been proved. Since the DDE has established a moral

clear from example of our daily life. While watching showcases and shelves of shops in Kathmandu
full of these goods, some questions may arise in every ones mind How do they manage to import all of
these goods from all over the world? As it is not possible to businessman to to go abroad and buy

role of intermediary between the buyer and seller may be unknown to each other. Then How can the
seller be sure that buyers will pay after the goods are exported and Hoe all transaction takes place?

Vodka, Cuisine And Culture By Linda Civitello
They say milk gives you strength. Drink three glasses and try moving a wall. You can t. Drink three
shots of vodka and it moves all by itself a simple and anonymous quote that describes the powerful
impact vodka has on an individual. Vodka s ability to greatly impact someone s behavior by
consuming a small amount provides reasoning on why it has become the most popular acholic drink in
the world. Although, the book, Cuisine and Culture by Linda Civitello, discussed a variety of topics
related to world cuisines, vodka was a common subject of discussion. For example, in the third course,
Civitello mentions vodka when discussing traditional foods and drinks in Russian and Polish cuisines.
Another instance where the author discusses vodka is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not to mention, a social event in 1425 that occurred was the church s decision to limit the brewing of
beer and support grain spirit production, which, would indicate the production of vodka. Regardless of
the date, the birth of vodka was found to be in Russia.
Soon after its birth, vodka would become a symbol for Russia. According to the Encyclopedia of
Russian History by Kate Transchel, vodka would become popular very quickly which, drew the
attention of the government. The government saw opportunity to increase revenues and quickly took
control of the production of vodka. In 1544, vodka was only sold and distilled in state owned and
regulated shops. Then the government continued to grow its power and created the Law Code of 1649
[which] extended state control to all the Russian provinces and established a monopoly over
production, distribution, and sale of spirits, from which the nobility were exempt (Transchel 1646).
Furthermore, the government s greed grew and they imposed a liquor tax in 1760. The amount of this
alcohol taxation was based on alcoholic strength and it would retain its place till 1863 (Madden). Then
in 1860, an exercise system was applied but, it did not work due to the difficulty to regulate the
system. The liquor tax was reinstated and the Monopoly was recreated. This tax and monopoly would
stay present until 1989. According to Transchel, the impact of this tax

Dramatic Techniques In Arcadia
Arcadia is a play that Izzy and I felt very attached to so when the moment came to choose a scene, we
instantly knew which play we wanted to perform. Some plays are better understood when they are
read, but Arcadia is on the other end of that spectrum. Arcadia was the perfect play for us perform
because we had enough actors (three of us) and Arcadia s Act II, Scene 2 felt perfect for this final.
Izzy, Cole, and I have a funny dynamic as a group of friends so that translated perfectly into our scene
because the lens with which we interpreted the scene was comedic something we thought Stoppard
intended. Cole will play Jellaby, the sarcastic butler who is simply just trying to get through his day,
and he is perfect for the role. Izzy will play Lady Croom, the head of the house who always seems to
be courted by men at her house, and Izzy brings the perfect aggressiveness to convey overt power. I
will play Septimus, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our staging is not too complex besides two pivotal points. The first big staging moment is when
Septimus and Lady Croom are sitting down when Jellaby brings in her infusion. I must pour tea for
her and hand it to her while we continue a serious conversation and then immediately rip up the letter
from Lord Byron. The next pivotal moment is the most important in the whole scene. Septimus
justifies his meeting with Mrs. Chater by telling Lady Croom that it was only because, in his madness,
he believed the Chater with her skirts over her head would give [him] the momentary illusion of the
happiness to which [he] dared not put a face (61). During this interaction, I jump up and corner Izzy
on one side of the stage whilst in my passionate speech and then when I am finished I retreat into
myself. Izzy then executes Lady Croom s art of seduction by dragging her finger along my shoulder
while she passes me to the door. This staging is somewhat complicated but it contributes greatly to the
greatness of our

Argumentative Essay On Apollo 51
Apollo 51: The Surface of the Moon or a Sound Stage in Nevada ?
It was a long anticipated summer night, when millions of Americans crowded around their bulky
television screens. It was 1969, America had recently passed through the height of the Cold War, but
their relationship with the Soviet Union continued to become more hostile. There was no clear winner
in sight, and America was desperate for a definitive victory, it was this moment, in this very moment
that they finally had one, and they clung to it. This moment was, of course, the Apollo 11 moon
landing on the 20th of July, 1969. However, as with many famous events captured in the public eye, it
wasn t long before conspiracies began to unfold. Some began to question the validity of the
photographs and videos associated with the moon landings, others made claims that the government
couldn t possibly have had the technology necessary to successfully land on the moon, and some even
went as far as to point out the exact set and director that supposedly filmed the hoaxed moon landings.
I first became aware of the conspiracy surrounding the moon landings about two years ago when I
watched a documentary on the topic and naturally, being the patriotic American that I am, I sided with
NASA without considering any evidence on either side of the argument, but recently, the topic was
brought up in conversation and it stuck an interest within me. So in this essay I will throw my
preconceived notions out the metaphorical window,

T-Mobile 1 Commercial Analysis
In the T Mobile 1 commercial it starts out with a middle aged man and Kristen Schaal. The
commercial was inspired off of the movie 50 Shades of Grey or the movie 50 Shades Darker, which
was made after the initial movie, 50 Shades of Grey. The two individuals enter the playroom where
numerous objects are seen hung all over the room. Schaal was being blindfolded as she walked into
the room. As the man starts to unravel the blindfold Schaal gasps in such astonishment of the room.
Later on the man starts stating the specific elements Verizon has to offer. The more data the mobile
user uses, the more punishments they will receive. Schaal was thrilled acknowledging this
information. The man later whips his whip and describes if mobile users are into things ... Show more

It is logical for people wanting to save money on their phone bill. If the mobile user goes over the
limited amount then the cost will start to accumulate. Every time you go over your data limit you get
punished. Nobody would want to pay outrageous rate and fees. The gasps, excitement, and the thrills
is what created the pathos. Schaal was astonished by all the facts he was saying because she was into
that type of pain. T Mobile 1 argues that they are a more reliable company with less punishing fees
thus creating ethos. Symbolism is seen in this also. The red Verizon phone screen seen dangling from
the stand represents data being overly used causing the phone bill to inflate. The whip also acts as a
form of symbolism representing the punishment. Another literary term that was involved during this
commercial is parody. In general the T Mobile 1 commercial imitates the movie 50 Shades of Grey.
Irony could also be included during this commercial because the mobile plan can sometimes cause
people to be indecisive on whether they want to feel the pain or not. In the commercial it said Wireless

The Biological And Physiological Mechanisms Of Action,...
Transgenic or Genetically Modified (GM) crops are plants used in agriculture that have been
genetically modified using recombinant DNA technology. The aim for GM plants/crops is to express a
gene or a trait that is not found in the species of the plant. The scientist that modify the plants insert a
foreign gene into the plant s original DNA. As a result to the modification, the plant receives
characteristics within the genetic code. Most, GM plants become resistant to pesticides, however there
are other variables within transgenic crops. Since the genes of humans, plants, and bacteria are all
created from the same genetic material; scientist have a variety of genes to choose from, when
modifying. Within plants, genetic modification occurs in steps . There are five major steps in the
development of a genetically engineered crop. But for every step, it is very important to know the
biochemical and physiological mechanisms of action, regulation of gene expression, and safety of the
gene and the gene product to be utilized 1. The first step is mapping; Mapping is locating and isolating
the desired gene before extraction. Once the gene is extracted, it must be cloned. Many copies are
made of the isolated Gene; gene cloning isolates the gene from the entire extracted DNA. Once it is
cloned, the gene of interest is designed and packaged so that it can be controlled and properly
expressed inside the host plant. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) is the cloning process, and it

Essay On Oliver Twist
Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens is about a young orphan boy who leaves his orphanage to go to
London after years of mistreatment. Being an orphan since birth due to his mother s death and father s
absence, for the first nine years of his life, Oliver lives on what is referred to as a baby farm. However,
at the age of nine he was moved from this baby farm to a workhouse by a man named Mr. Bumble.
This is shown on page seven when a woman name Mrs. Mann, who Oliver was under the care of for
the first nine years of his life, introduces Mr. Bumble to Oliver. This triggers the event that will begin
Oliver s journey. While working at the workhouse, the living conditions are poor and the boys who
work there eat small portions of what is referred to as gruel. One day, some of the boys decide to draw
lots, whoever losing having to ask for more gruel. Young Oliver Twist loses and the task to ask for
more falls to him. One line that this book is known for is then said by Oliver here on page 11 Please,
sir, I want some more. This leads to an uproar that leads to the workhouse attempting to get Oliver
adopted to get him out of the way, beginning his journey. Five pounds is offered to anyone who will
take Oliver. After a close call where Oliver is nearly taken by a cruel man named Mr. Gamfield, he is

Political Party Viewpoints
Quite often, people are eager to proclaim whether they are a democrat or a republican, yet many of
these people use these political terms because they have been told to, rather than actually resonating
with the beliefs of said political party. Preferably, voters should research issues most important to
them and figure out their own stances, then commit to the political party with the most similar
viewpoint by examining the party s platform from a reliable source. Political parties are voluntary,
organized groups of people with similar political aims and opinions who work to influence public

to fund everything for that child, from their basic needs to their potential college education. The lack

themselves pro life will not support programs like welfare, food stamps, and housing assistance. The
lack of funding for these programs causes many people to hurt financially. This also flaws the
Republican idea of how to fix the national debt. The Republicans believe that trickle down economics
work and that the people will spend their money on American goods to help stimulate the U.S.
economy. The problem with that theory is when people do not have the money to provide for their
basic needs, they will most definitely not be spending money on simple desires that do not matter

Martin Luther King s Argument Against Affirmative Action
Today s society emphasizes the need of equal opportunities; everyone should have equal chances
despite their race, gender, or other characteristics. However, there are still many barriers and biases,
often unconscious, which do not let to embrace the potential of everyone. Even though Civil Right Era
made a good improvement, because of the long years of legal racism and sexism, ethnic minority
members and women are still disadvantaged by the system. It is obvious that something should be
done about it and one of the ways to reduce inequality is affirmative action.

Martin Luther King Jr. was definitely one of the most influential characters in the history of equal
rights. He was the one who brought world s attention to unequal and unfair treatment of African
Americans. Although he was assassinated before affirmative action was introduced, he agreed that
some actions should be taken in order to reduce inequality: We must come to see that the roots of
racism are very deep in our country, and there must be something positive and massive in order to get
rid of all the effects of racism and the tragedies of racial injustice (King, 1968). For policy to work and
to have space for improvement it is extremely important to have support from the society. Majority of
Americans favor affirmative action and the support have been growing in the past years. Currently,
70% say they favor affirmative action programs, up from 58% in 1995 (The Pew Research Center,
2009:39). 94% of African Americans favored such programs and 65% of whites, compared to 53% in
1995, support affirmative action (The Pew Research Center, 2009:40). Furthermore, sixty five leading
Fortune 500 companies (ex. Coca Cola, Intel, Kraft Foods, Nike, Pepsi, Microsoft, 3M etc.) stated
their support for affirmative action during the court process Grutter v. Bollinger, where Barbara
Grutter filed the law suit, claiming that the University of Michigan Law School denied her admission

Skincare Procedure
If you are thinking of switching from one skincare brand to another, it is better to test the quality of
your existing skincare products first.
The first test is for mildness of your toner. Mildness of skincare products is extremely important for
those having sensitive or acne skin. Mildness can be tested by the PH value of the skincare products.
Get yourself a PH paper and drop some toner onto the PH paper. If the toner is acidic, the PH paper
turns red. If the toner is alkaline, the PH paper turns blue. PH around 5.5 to 7 is the best for your skin.
Toner with PH4 5 is able to remove excess horny layer and tighten facial pores.
The second test is for absorbency of your skincare essence. The higher the absorbency means the more
nutrients you skin can absorb. Prepare a pile of cotton pad or facial tissue. Add one drop of your
essence onto the first piece of cotton pad or facial tissue (of the pile). Find out how many layer is the
essence able to penetrate. The more layers the essence penetrates, the higher is the absorbency. ...

A Short Story Of Sleet
It was a dark, gloomy day in the Lamar Valley. Sleet, trotting along slowly, came across the fence
marking the exit of Yellowstone Park. He immediately backed away from it and started the way from
which he came. All his life he was told to stay away from the fence. The wolves feared the fence for
the fence showed the unknown. It was the fact that beyond the fence was unknown that they feared.
Sleet, being a reddish, blackish wolf, was very curious about this fence. For there were stories of
wolves who traveled beyond the fence, and never returned. They figured the wolves had been killed.
But something about these stories confused him. How would they know that they never returned
because they were killed? They could have still been alive and stayed past the fence because there was
good! He erased this thought from his mind and continued on his way. Sleet was walking along slowly
when he came across a fresh trail that sent his hair on his back bristling. He crouched low to the
ground and showed his teeth. He was being watched. He saw gleaming eyes through the bushes
surrounding him. He was trapped. Sleet growled menacingly. The wolf pack around him drew closer.
He now knew that he was in danger. He submissively rolled onto his back with feet up above him in
the air. This was embarrassing for him. He came from a bloodline of strong wolves who let nothing
get in their way and who instead of gaining fear, they inflicted it upon others. Sleet, now rolling back

Emergency Medicine Personal Statement
Throughout the majority of my life, I had dreams of becoming an attorney and did not consider
medicine as a profession until much later in my academic career. I had previously pictured myself
pursuing a career in intellectual property rights and hoped to become a patent attorney, given my
interest in the scientific field. My interest in patent law led me to take science courses that piqued my
curiosity. I soon found myself involved in undergraduate laboratory research, focused on discovering
new drugs to treat chronic pain syndromes while preventing drug tolerance and limiting the side
effects of conventionally used narcotic pain medications. During my last year of college, I was
accepted into law school, however I ultimately did not feel that I was truly pursuing my passion and
decided to withdraw my acceptance. I then found myself with a college degree and an unclear
direction in life, unsure of what new career I wanted to pursue. Shortly after graduating, I discovered a

Summary Of The Banking Concept Of Education By Paulo Freire
Paulo Freire is an author who poses questions and arguments that challenge everything that his readers
think and know. The Banking Concept of Education from Pedagogy of the Oppressed poses the
question about the education system and how teachers are narrators and students are recorders. In his
essay he discusses how the students who he refers to as containers receive their information from
teachers. However, the teachers never communicate with their subordinates. The idea of banking
suggests that students are only receiving, memorizing and receiving facts from the depositor which
made the students depositories. The main ideas drawn from this article are related to education,
knowledge and communication.

Characterism In The Play Hedda Gabler
A brutal mix of manipulation, affairs, fear, and death, the play Hedda Gabler is a fine example of
unhappiness in marriage and self. The author, Henrik Ibsen, creates a scenario which highlights the
faults of his main character, Hedda Tesman, showing the audience where her true priorities lie.
Throughout the play Hedda s character begins to regress, obsessively trying to gain control over those
around her by plotting characters against each other and skillfully manipulating them. Devolving into
a caged manic when she is unable to get her ways, she becomes trapped in a marriage that brings out
her worst attributes. Ibsen brings about Heddas instability slowly, using character Judge Brack to
show how an already unhappy woman can become a ticking bomb under marital restrictions. Putting
her into more and more precarious situations , until, inevitably, she explodes. Ibsen s use of literary
foils highlights Heddas weaknesses, revealing her true nature of cowardice. Building to her ultimate
demise, brought about between the collision of [her lack of] control and fear. As in trying to gain
control of others, you ll lose control of yourself. Hedda Tesman has many visitors over the couple of
days that we see of her life, but a frequent visitor that leaves a lasting impression is Judge Brack; an

than stem cell research ever would, yet they are not controversial. (http://www.time.com) Pro stem
cell research scientists have found that citing fertility clinics as a similar field severely lessens the
educated opposition against their work. This is because most pro life advocates and mainstream
Christians are advocates for the use of fertility clinics to help struggling couples get pregnant. They
view fertility clinics as a place to help create life, not take it. In this, I speak from personal experience,
as many of my Christian friends and relatives have been in and out of fertility clinics throughout the
years, attempting to procreate a being to love, raise, and care for. In short, the debate boils down to the
ancient debate of whether or not a fetus or human embryo is a life or not. Pro life advocates say that
human fetuses are absolutely,

  • 2. Life In Ancient Greece The Greeks wore light, loose clothes as the weather was hot for most of the year. Long pieces of colourful fabric were used to make the Greek clothes. Men would wear a tunic, called a chiton. It was made out of large squares of linen or wool ( wool for winter and linen for summer) held in place by pins at the shoulders and a belt around the waist The women wore similar things to the men. Athenian boys also went to wrestling school each day, to learn many sports, not just wrestling. They had to be fit, to fight in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Indigenous People Groups In Canada Different indigenous people groups had possessed what is presently Canada for a large number of years before European colonization. Starting in the sixteenth century, English and French cases were made on the region, with the state of Canada initially being built up by the French in 1535 amid Jacques Cartier s second voyage to New France. As a result of different clashes, Extraordinary England picked up and lost domains inside English North America until the point that it was left, in the late eighteenth century, with what for the most part geologically involves Canada today. Compliant with the English North America Act, on July 1, 1867, the states of Canada, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia joined to shape the semi self governing government ... • 4. Descriptive Essay About Dogs When most people think about dogs, they say that they are man s best friend. Although this is true, they are much more than that. They are your family. They are the only animal in the world who does not care if you are not perfect, and will love you not matter what you do. This is what dogs truly are. When you realize this is true about all dogs, it makes it even harder to let them go. We just came home from vacation at Gatlinburg. Even though we had so much fun at Gatlinburg, we could not wait to get home to our five loving, adorable, and amazing dogs. Our bird, Ozzy, also waited impatiently upon our arrival. When we finally got into the house, we were tackled by four small dogs and a bird attacking our heads. One of our dogs was still on the couch though. Usually she, Lugnut, was the first one out the door. Automatically we knew something was wrong. We took her to the vet right away. It felt like we spent eternity waiting for the veterinarian to come out and check on Lugnut. Then, we had to wait even longer to finally figure out what was wrong. I was hoping there was nothing wrong and the reason Luggy did not come and greet us was because she was mad we left her alone with the other four dogs and Ozzy. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The vet said that she had some type of Lymphoma cancer. Luggy had two weeks to a couple of months left. The vet, also, said that she probably would not live past Christmas. Bruke wrote, This ... • 5. Good Night And Good Luck Analysis Legendary CBS News broadcaster Edward R. Murrow is a journalist who made history with exposing Senator Joseph R. McCarthy. Although the story will go down in history, with the help of the movie Good Night, and Good Luck directed by George Clooney, how much is known of the historically accurate story. While some could argue that George Clooney and producer, Grant Heslov, made the screenplay naive, others disagree. Many may even state that it was well researched and followed the original weekly CBS story, See It Now, accurately. Both are easily arguable. In the movie, Good Night, and Good Luck, it is portrayed that many people or news companies were too afraid of McCarthy to stand up to him. Although by the time the show, See It Now, aired on the 9th of March, 1954, many people wanted to remove McCarthy from chairman. Many Republicans joined Democrats in publicly denouncing him, including Richard Nixon. Many would state that mainstream news was also very anti McCarthy, including Time Magazine and Chicago Tribune. Another red flag that may make people question the accurateness of this film is the changing in minor details, including the beginning of this movie when the date of the RTDNA Convention in Chicago is displayed on October 25th , 1985 when the Convention was held on October 12th, 1958 . Also, Murrow s keynote address is introduced by a man who talks about the issues that Murrow reported on . This includes exploitation of migrant workers, while this is true, Murrow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He sees Of Mice and Men as a social convention reaching out to more than one type of people. Fullmer supports his ideas with plenty of proof from the book and has an excellent interpretation of the book. Out of all my sources I think Fullmer s review of the book is the most pleasing. Topham, James. Of Mice and Men Review. About. The New York Times Company, 2011Web. 7 Nov 2011. lt;http://classiclit.about.com/od/ofmiceandmensteinbeck/fr/aa_ofmice.htm gt;. Topham focuses mainly on the prejudices displayed in the story. He praises Steinbeck s development of the characters and the friendship between George and Lennie. He agrees that although George and Lennie s dream to have a farm is unreachable their friendship is what makes the story so appealing to readers. Topham relates George and Lennie s troubles to those of the modern day world. He writes how the friendship between the two boys is a shining example of how even though the world is harsh at times, love and friendship can still exist. Topham gives the example of George and Lennie s friendship as support of this idea. Topham emphasizes that there is always an upside to bad times and uses the struggles of the main characters to prove his idea. Topham does not provide any evidence besides George and Lennie s friendship to support his ideas and opinion of Mice and Men. While Topham does explain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Sun Is The Only Star The sun that sends out light to our world is not considered as sun in the evening; it is called as a star in general because of its structure and history which most of the stars in the universe similarly have. The sun is a naturally giant star that contains many elements, and magnetically sucks everything that is close by into its body. Moreover, this almost spherical star, along with its strong gravity, consists of the fire and lava that are made from the elements, burns and melts down all of the small meteorites that pass by. The sun is seen to be dangerous as described, but helpful for our planet. It brings the warmness and light to our lives, and which daytime exists, humans and creatures start working and smiling with happiness and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I tried look straight to the sun just for a few seconds. The outcome turned out that I was color blind for a while. If I have starred at the sun for a minute, I would be blind for life. Another bad example, that the atmosphere does not protect us from the sun, is our skins. The sun made every uncovered parts of my body turn darker. When this happened, it took me months to recover my uncovered skin to have the same color with the covered skin. I do not try to be offensive about the protection of the atmosphere from the sun, but this is the true. The sun is dangerous, yet it also can be very helpful and effective to our lives. The sun allows species, such as human being, on earth to live until they are old enough to leave and say goodbye to the material world. There is nothing that can replace the sun that is always helping our lives and planet out of death and extinction. Other stars, indeed, have the same function as our sun does, but they are too far away from our planet. They are just little dots that appear during night time to make sky look pretty and fancy. Although our sun is better than other stars at bringing light and warmness to us, it does not help us at all in the evening because it is in the opposite side of the earth. What makes the sun disappear at one side of the earth at night and appear at and shines the other side? That is caused by the spinning movement of our earth. Adding to that, our ... With my cross bow I shot the ALBATROSS (line 79 82). The mariners have nothing but the ALBATROSS plays with them on the ship. I believe the ALBATROSS is the symbol of innocence and nature; this is the reason why the author capitalized this word. It has been concluded that the DDE is a valid moral principle as it allows one to justify whether an action will cause two diverse effects and whether the effects are permissible. It is crucial to establish the validity of the DDE because it has been applied to defend a significant number of contemporary controversial issues (McIntyre). In order to determine whether the DDE is a valid moral principle, the definition of the doctrine itself as well as conditions involved will be demonstrated. Therefore, the doctors choice of dividing medication into four equal proportions to save the lives of four out of five patients is able to satisfy all the conditions of DDE and therefore it is permissible for the doctor to make such a decision. The doctor s choice in the Organ Shortage scenario is impermissible. From a quantitative point of view, it may seem the doctor s choice is permissible as it resulted in the death of one patient as opposed to four. However, the death of the patient is not a side effect of curing the four other patients. Moreover, the death of the fifth patient has been used as a means to achieve the good end. The doctor s choice fails to meet the conditions of DDE as the doctor withheld medication from a patient whose life depended on the medication. There was no clear winner in sight, and America was desperate for a definitive victory, it was this moment, in this very moment that they finally had one, and they clung to it. This moment was, of course, the Apollo 11 moon landing on the 20th of July, 1969. However, as with many famous events captured in the public eye, it wasn t long before conspiracies began to unfold. Transgenic or Genetically Modified (GM) crops are plants used in agriculture that have been genetically modified using recombinant DNA technology. The aim for GM plants/crops is to express a gene or a trait that is not found in the species of the plant. The scientist that modify the plants insert a foreign gene into the plant s original DNA. As a result to the modification, the plant receives characteristics within the genetic code. Most, GM plants become resistant to pesticides, however there are other variables within transgenic crops. Since the genes of humans, plants, and bacteria are all created from the same genetic material; scientist have a variety of genes to choose from, when modifying. Within plants, genetic modification occurs in steps . There are five major steps in the development of a genetically engineered crop. But for every step, it is very important to know the biochemical and physiological mechanisms of action, regulation of gene expression, and safety of the gene and the gene product to be utilized 1. The first step is mapping; Mapping is locating and isolating the desired gene before extraction. Once the gene is extracted, it must be cloned. Many copies are made of the isolated Gene; gene cloning isolates the gene from the entire extracted DNA. Once it is cloned, the gene of interest is designed and packaged so that it can be controlled and properly expressed inside the host plant. He was the one who brought world s attention to unequal and unfair treatment of African Americans. The first test is for mildness of your toner. Mildness of skincare products is extremely important for those having sensitive or acne skin. Mildness can be tested by the PH value of the skincare products. Get yourself a PH paper and drop some toner onto the PH paper. If the toner is acidic, the PH paper turns red. • 37. A Short Story Of Sleet It was a dark, gloomy day in the Lamar Valley. Sleet, trotting along slowly, came across the fence marking the exit of Yellowstone Park. He immediately backed away from it and started the way from which he came. All his life he was told to stay away from the fence. The wolves feared the fence for the fence showed the unknown. It was the fact that beyond the fence was unknown that they feared. Sleet, being a reddish, blackish wolf, was very curious about this fence. For there were stories of wolves who traveled beyond the fence, and never returned. They figured the wolves had been killed. But something about these stories confused him. How would they know that they never returned because they were killed? They could have still been alive and stayed past the fence because there was good! He erased this thought from his mind and continued on his way. Sleet was walking along slowly when he came across a fresh trail that sent his hair on his back bristling. He crouched low to the ground and showed his teeth. He was being watched. He saw gleaming eyes through the bushes surrounding him. He was trapped. Sleet growled menacingly. The wolf pack around him drew closer. He now knew that he was in danger. He submissively rolled onto his back with feet up above him in the air. This was embarrassing for him. He came from a bloodline of strong wolves who let nothing get in their way and who instead of gaining fear, they inflicted it upon others. Sleet, now rolling back onto his 4 feet, ... I had previously pictured myself pursuing a career in intellectual property rights and hoped to become a patent attorney, given my interest in the scientific field. My interest in patent law led me to take science courses that piqued my curiosity. I soon found myself involved in undergraduate laboratory research, focused on discovering new drugs to treat chronic pain syndromes while preventing drug tolerance and limiting the side effects of conventionally used narcotic pain medications. During my last year of college, I was accepted into law school, however I ultimately did not feel that I was truly pursuing my passion and decided to withdraw my acceptance. • 40. Characterism In The Play Hedda Gabler A brutal mix of manipulation, affairs, fear, and death, the play Hedda Gabler is a fine example of unhappiness in marriage and self. The author, Henrik Ibsen, creates a scenario which highlights the faults of his main character, Hedda Tesman, showing the audience where her true priorities lie. Throughout the play Hedda s character begins to regress, obsessively trying to gain control over those around her by plotting characters against each other and skillfully manipulating them. Devolving into a caged manic when she is unable to get her ways, she becomes trapped in a marriage that brings out her worst attributes. Ibsen brings about Heddas instability slowly, using character Judge Brack to show how an already unhappy woman can become a ticking bomb under marital restrictions. Putting her into more and more precarious situations , until, inevitably, she explodes. Ibsen s use of literary foils highlights Heddas weaknesses, revealing her true nature of cowardice. In this, I speak from personal experience, as many of my Christian friends and relatives have been in and out of fertility clinics throughout the years, attempting to procreate a being to love, raise, and care for.
