Save one third, live on one third, and give away one third
Even a star like Angelina, knows the importance of saving for the future. Life would be better if
you are less worried about your finance. Learn to live within your means and learn to save money.
With the notion of good karma, give back to those who are in need, and the universe will return it

The Last Days Of Ptolemy Grey Essay
In today s society elder people are not given much importance or care like they deserve because
they are old and as some people would say annoying. Often times we as younger generation
believe that older people just nag all the time and to get rid of that nagging we send them to
nursing homes or to an organization that will take care of them. Elder people do not realize what
they are saying or doing because a lot of them have health problem that can or cannot be treated,
they are babies and as youngest generation we do not see that or understand. Most older people
have hard time taking care of their self, cleaning their homes or surroundings and live in that dirty
environment because they have health problems and some do not even know what generation they
are living in. in the book The Last Days of Ptolemy Greythe author Walter Mosley presents a novel
about an elder black man whose having memory problem and cannot remember anyone in his family
, friends and himself and his been forgotten by his family. The author presents this novel in a
very unique way that makes us realize that we should care for elder people especially if it is our
own family member because one day we will be in their spot and we want our family or kids to
take care of us and love us until the last breath we take. This novel is about a 91 year old black
man who s walking that final line between dementia and reality. The character s name is Ptolemy

Analysis Of Blink By Malcolm Gladwell
Is Blink Good Psychology? Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Jung, once said, The pendulum of the mind
oscillates between sense and nonsense, not between right and wrong. In his book, Blink,
Malcolm Gladwell sets out to prove that the real difference between good and bad decision
making has more to do with our abilities as humans to focus on select, particular details about a
situation as opposed to the sheer amount of information we process, but are the tactics utilized
by Gladwell in his novel good psychology? It is of my belief that Gladwell s work is psychology
due to the amount of outside studies, research, and applications Gladwell incorporates into his
book in addition to the fact that it attempts to follow the eight critical thinking guidelines as per
Psychology and the DSM 5. While Gladwell does not specifically outline how his theory of thin
slicing and snap decision making relates to the eight guidelines, this information follows these
guidelines; this enables us to more accurately judge the content of his novel because he analyzed
the information he used. The first of these is define your terms: In the first several chapters of his
book, Gladwell explains to readers the terms he uses such as the adaptive unconscious The adaptive
unconscious is thoughtof, instead, as a kind of computer that quickly and quietly processes a lot of

Tcp And Transmission Control Protocol
TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) is connection oriented and reliable service widely used in
internet. TCP offers error correction and the protocol offers guaranteed delivery. This is because
of the property which TCP has, that is flow control. It determines when the data needs to be
resent and stops the flow of data unless the previous transferred data has been successfully
transferred. This is because of the congestion control where the packets of data sent may collide.
Congestion control occurs if the client requests the data from the server and there is any
collision, there will be a re request where the whole data is transferred complete and identical to
the original as requested. TCP provides a connection oriented service. Connection oriented
means, two different applications using TCP. Considering client and server model, they must
establish a TCP with each other before any data can be exchanged. TCP also provides reliable
service. This service can be offered by the following ways: * The data which is to be exchanged
can be broken into bits and sent over to receive at other end. This process is called segment. * A
timer is maintained every time when TCP sends a segment in order to acknowledge the reception.
If the acknowledgement is not received the data is resent again until an acknowledgement is
received. * TCP does an end to end checksum by maintaining checksum on header and data to make
sure that no alterations have been done to the data. * The flow control

A: The Kite Runner: Dark side is shown when Hosseini describes his suffering to the Taliban
totalitarian regime when he finally returns to California, hoping to help Hassan and his family.
General Taheri is depicted to be charming and officious at the same time. But there is a dark
racist side of the General that is shown when he asks Amir to give an explanation on why a

5. Q: What is the biggest problem with our world today? Connect your discussion with the dark side
of human nature?
A: The world is an accurate reflection of the human ego. People gravitate to the things that cause
suffering mainly because of their ignorance. For instance, war and violence are caused by human s
egocentric nature, greed, and envy rooted in profound ignorance.
6. Q: What can you do to make the World a better place?
A: According to Karl Max, the only sure way to making the world a better place is by getting rid
of capitalism. The hopes of making the world a better place have often been hijacked by greedy
corrupted politicians, special interests, and bribing to gain special favors. Most people today are
consumed by the social media frenzy to the extent that they forget simple things that would make

Home For Peculiar Children Essay
Since Time Burton began directing, incredibly dark and quirky fantasies have been created for
viewers of all ages. The 2016 movie Miss Peregrine s Home for Peculiar Children perfectly
combines all that audiences have come to expect from Tim Burton. The movie is filled with fun,
unusual characters, who are each unique in their own way, adding to the suspense and thrill of the
fantasy. Its special effectsmake sure that the movie holds its audience s attention while also
making it memorable. And of course, the viewer is forced to use their imagination. Miss
Peregrine s Home for Peculiar Children is an adaptation of the novel by Ranson Riggs, which was
published in 2011 and titled the same as the novel. It is set in a timeloop that replays a single day in
1941, during World War II on the island of Cairnholm. Jacob Portman, the 16 year old protagonist,
is searching for the truth in the strange bedtime stories that his grandfather, Abe, told him as a
child. Upon arriving on the island, Jacob discovers the creepy ruins of the abandoned orphanage
that is isolated in a rural village surrounded by treacherous marshland. He is confronted with the

Gender Dynamics Within Iran — Offside Film
The Gender Dynamics Within Iran Throughout the various texts and films we observed this
semester, there were a multitude of underlying themes associated with each. These themes do not
live in a textual or film related vacuum, but rather offer major implications on given Middle
Eastern cultures. In the fictional film Offside, directed by Jafar Panahi, he decides to zero in on the
complex culture within Iran. He illustrates the culture within Iran by employing the 2006 World
Cup qualifying soccer match between Iran and Bahrain as a metaphor of the various social
dynamics attached to this sporting event and the country as a whole. That said, there are numerous
underlying themes associated with this film. In this paper, however, I will... Show more content on

For instance, the man on the minibus vehemently warns the girl about getting caught at the
stadium and tries to help her as he seems to be legitimately worried for her wellbeing. Also, the
ticker scalper fretfully asks the if she know[s] what they ll do if they catch [her]? (Panahi). This
implies the public perception of the military s enforcement of this law is extremely strict and
violating it is very much unsafe. However, the actions of the soldiers in their treatment of the
girls suggests otherwise. At the end of the movie, the girls and soldiers are celebrating with all
the Iranian people in the streets after the huge win, which provides the notion that these young
women got off scot free. Perhaps Panahi is symbolizing fear tactics practiced by the government
in order to promote law abiding citizens. The soldier who appears to be in the leadership position
is greatly concerned with going on military leave as he tells a girl, [he] should be on leave...it s
[her] fault [he s] on duty here (Panahi). More than detaining these girls, he is concerned with
moving back to his village and taking care of his family. The only reason he is detaining the girls
is because [he] [has] responsibilities and [he ll] be punished if he releases them (Panahi). There
seems to be an evident discrepancy within the Iranian hierarchy as it pertains to the legal policy

The Problem Of The Medical Marijuana Industry
The medical marijuana industry has seen staggering growth in recent years with many state level
legalizations and the federal memo issued in 2013 that told prosecutors to leave these businesses
alone, as long as they comply with all their state laws. Colorado was the first state to legalize
marijuana for recreational purposes and marijuana infused edibles soon became a rapidly growing
element within the marijuana industry. As such, states are struggling to write effective legislation
and create adequate testing and identification to address this new industry. However, compliance is
just one area of riskmanagement faced by the marijuana edibles industry. Just as any other
manufacturer of a food product, edibles manufacturers face many hazardrisks in the operation of
their business (Frosch, 2014).
Hazard risks are one of the four classifications of risks, which also include operational risks,
financial risks and strategic risks. Identifying risks in this classification system focuses on the
source of the risk as opposed to identifying by the type of risk. Hazard risks are classified as a pure
risk, arising from property, liability or personnel loss exposures. These risks are insurable risks and
typically are covered by an insurance policy. Fire and other property damage, windstorm and other
natural perils, theft and other crimes (including personal injury), business interruption, disease and
disability (including work related injuries and disease), and liability claims are

Essay on Examining a Business Failure
Examining a Business Failure: Tyco International Ltd. В®
LDR 531
August 23, 2010
Examining a Business Failure: Tyco International Ltd. В® Many have heard the proverb, A chain
is only as strong as its weakest link. This can be directly applied to business organizations through
analysis of the three strongest and/or weakest links: managers, leaders and the organizational
structure. These three areas provide the central core to any organization and are often linked to
dramatic failures and consequences when weaknesses arise. In this paper, the student will discuss
the 2002 failure of Tyco International Ltd. В® (Tyco) in which the Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC) filed a lawsuit claiming fraud, reporting violations, ... Show more content on

While this was only one of many claims held by the SEC, it shows the fraudulent nature of the
accusations. Additionally, the SEC pursued harsh consequences for the crimes as a means to offer
restitution to all investors damaged by the executive s actions (U.S. Securities and Exchange
Commission, 2010).
Managers and Leaders While it is difficult to offer a specific definition of a manager and leader, the
type of control used to manage/persuade employees can offer a clear distinction. A manager often
uses a bureaucratic, authoritative style, and a leader most often relies on charisma and influence to
achieve goals. Neither style is better than the other; however, one may achieve greater results
dependent upon the situation. According to Yuki, within the managementatmosphere, many
decision processes are disorderly and political (2006, p. 26). In the case with Tyco, many actions
completed by the accounting department were highly political, being based upon information
directly from the CEO. During the legal investigation, the SEC found that no employees (with the
exception of those specifically named in the lawsuit) were found in violation of any law. The SEC
concluded that

Comparison Tom and Gatsby in The Great Gatsby
Tom Buchanan and Jay Gatsby... perfect foils?
By: Daniela Calderon
In The Great Gatsby, written by Scott Fitzgerald, Tom Buchanan and Jay Gatsby are two characters
that struggle with the idea of losing their shared love interest, Daisy. Tom and Gatsby s attachment
to Daisy is differently justified due to their contrasting views, personalities, attitudes, actions,
backgrounds, and other factors, some of which they do share and concur in. Fitzgerald did a great
thing here. He created two purposefully different characters one that is easily despised, the other
that although not perfect, is likable and united them in their love for money, the power that comes
with it , and their haunt for the ultimate prize Daisy. In this essay,... Show more content on

Not even the effeminate swank of his riding clothes could hide the enormous power of that
body...it was a body capable of enormous leverage...a cruel body. On the other hand, Gatsby
seems to be shy and reserved to the point where he is not even acknowledged at his own parties.
In my opinion, Gatsby did not do so well when attempting to pull off a defying front during his
confrontation with Tom. Tom also comes off as a racist bigot who fears that the Black race will
eventually submerge the White race, a sexist, and an abusive, insensitive, brute , like Daisy calls
him. Gatsby s open house parties which contain very colorful characters, on the other hand, seem
to show little prejudice or judgment in his persona. Gatsby s action of waiting outside the
Buchannan s home all night just to make sure Tom would not physically harm Daisy, show just
how sensitive Gatsby is to Daisy s well being. Tom seems to be very blunt and crude, while Gatsby
s distinguishing feature is the enigma that is his life. Jay Gatsby holds himself to high expectations
and lived his life chasing a single dream, while Tom Buchanan seems to have no direction, goals,
or dreams, other than to waste away his wealth, and please his selfish needs. In my opinion, the
fundamental difference between Tom and Gatsby is how Fitzgerald decided that justice would be
served to each concerning part. Tom is the definition of

Kant s View Of Enlightenment
Kant s general proposed understanding of Enlightenment first originates with the enlightenment of
the individual. Within the first few lines of Kant s essay, what is Enlightenment? , he states the
definition of enlightenment as man s emergence from his self incurred immaturity (Kant 1). Kant
first highlights the problem of immaturity, which he says to be the inability to use one s own
understanding, but lack of resolution and courage to use it without the guidance of another (Kant,
1). Kant most likely sees this problem of intellectual immaturity as a result of the interference of
the church and/or the state in allowing the free discussion of ideas and challenging of status quo
ideas. As a progressive philosopher in 18th century Prussia,... Show more content on

Thus, a monarch that understands that the more ideas that are expressed in a thoughtful manner,
the more society can become enlightened. As Kant succinctly describes the motto of such a
monarch, Argue as much as you like and about whatever you like, but obey! (Kant, 6). Once the
intellectual freedom is allowed to expand, people are more able to cultivate a mindset of critical
thinking and are therefore freed from the yoke of intellectual immaturity. Since individual
enlightenment in some ways actually depends on public enlightenment, this provides another
condition for a fully enlightened society to exist. While enlightenment should start from one s own
process towards enlightenment regardless of external conditions in the world, the monarch s own
enlightenment and the policies he creates for free thinking would aid in the flourishment of an
enlightened society that stems from people s comfortability to discuss their enlightened ideas in

Dependency on Technology in a Modern World
Dependency on Technology in a Modern World
Introduction
Technology has virtually defined the human condition since the early stages in the species
evolution. First there were rudimentary tools such as arrows and hammering utensils which
allowed humans a far great range in manipulating their environment. Further developments such
as fire, clothing, and shelter and so on changed the way humans lived and every aspect of their
lives. Today s societies have more advanced tools such as a laptop, IPod, GPS, cell phone, a
seemingly infinite number of other gizmos and gadgets that shape their lives. This essay will
question whether these devices will add to our wellbeing and improve our lives or if the
development of technology has hit a threshold point in which further developments are of little
practical value or even of negative consequence.
Communications
Of all the advancements in technology from its inception, the advancement in communication has
to be one of the most revolutionary forces that have come about. People now can communicate
with nearly anyone else in the world for very little cost and instantaneously through a variety of
mediums. People are free to move around the globe and never lose contact with the people that
they care about. Students can live video chat with other student half way around the world and can
even form interactive classrooms with a wide range of participants. Professors can record a lecture
that can be hosted on a site for anyone to

Unconditional positive regard a concept developed by the late psychologist Carl Rogers back in

would argue a determining factor in the rapport building process; it is a key element of our work

As Will recently mentioned in a previous blogpost, uncondtional positive regard and genuine
warmth are the best relationship building tools we have. As research strongly suggests, relationship
factors (alliance) between therapist and client make up to 30% of the key elements for positive
outcomes. Studies also suggest that a huge number of people report

The Violence Of Domestic Violence
Cycle of Violence in Domestic Violence
As stated by the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, domestic violence is defined as a
pattern of coercive and controlling behaviors and tactics used by one person over another (by or to
any household member) to gain power and control. This may include verbal abuse, financial abuse,
emotional, sexual, and physical abuse. (The Official Website of the Executive Office of Public

Domestic abuse frequently becomes more often and dangerous over time.

Lenore E. Walker, Executive Director of the Domestic ViolenceInstitute, studied, researched and

many violent relationships follow a similar pattern. In 1979, Walker developed a social cycle
theory cycle that explains the behaviors involved in a domestic abuse. This cycle developed by
her, could take days months or years to develop, it is different for each relationship and not all
follow the pattern, and not all necessarily lead to physical abuse.
The Cycle of abuse developed by L. E. Walker includes the following 3 phases:
Tension building Tension builds over common domestic, daily problems. Verbal abuse begins. The
abused person tries to help the situation by pleasing the abuser, giving in or avoiding the situation,
what do not stop the violence. The tension continues, reaches a boiling point and the abuse begins.

The Rise And Development Of Ancient Persia
Ancient Persia also known as the Achaemenid Empire is known to be one of the greatest empires
in ancient history. It was viewed as the first humane, equal and religiously tolerant empire. It was
made up of several different languages, races, religions and cultures. The empire would become
large enough to stretch through three continents. The rise and development of Persia revolved
around the rule of Cyrus the Greatand Darius the Great. Cyrus was a military and political genius
that would go on to rule the largest empire in the ancient world. Ancient Persia began to rise in
550 BC when Cyrus the Great defeated Medes and the Median Empire and united the Medes and
Persians. Cyrus than began the creation of the Persian Empire and became its first ruler. From
then on, the Persian army, under the rule of Cyrus the Great and his successors, started many
wars and became one of the largest and most powerful ancient empires. His first successor would
be his son Cambyses II who would rule for a short time. Under his rule the Persian empire soon
became powerful enough to easily take over Egypt and Mesopotamia which is why they have
some things in common. The beginning of the the rise of this great empire starts in 539 BC
when Babylon is conquered. Babylon was at the time viewed as the ancient world s capital of
scholarships and science. So, this was great victory for Cyrus the Great and the Persian empire as
a whole. In Babylon, the people were tired of internal conflict and the

Persuasive Speech On Surveillance
ppose you re walking home one night, alone, and you decide to take a shortcut through a dark
alley. You make it halfway through, when suddenly you hear some drunks stumbling behind you.
Some of them are shouting curses. They look large and powerful, and there are several of them.
Nonetheless, you feel safe, because you know someone is watching.
You know this because you live in the future where surveillanceis universal, ubiquitous and
unavoidable. Governments and large corporations have spread cameras, microphones and other
tracking devices all across the globe, and they also have the capacity to store and process oceans
of surveillance data in real time. Big Brother not only watches your sex life, he analyses it. It

Instead of blanket bans in dangerous research areas, we could allow research to proceed and use
surveillance to catch bad actors and bad practices. We might even see an increase in academic
freedom.
Surveillance could also be useful in smaller, more conventional disasters. Knowing where everyone
in a city was at the moment an earthquake struck would make rescue services much more effective,
and the more cameras around when hurricanes hit, the better. Over time, all of this footage would
increase our understanding of disasters, and help us to mitigate their effects.
Indeed, there are whole new bodies of research that could emerge from the data provided by mass
surveillance. Instead of formulating theories and laboriously recruiting a biased and sometimes
unwilling group for testing, social scientists, economists and epidemiologists could use
surveillance data to test their ideas. And they could do itFROM HOME , immediately, and have
access to the world s entire population. Many theories could be rapidly confirmed or discarded,
with great benefit to society. The panopticon would be a research

Chivalry is the code of conduct that was followed by knights all around in the Dark Ages. It was

Dominican Women
Title: Important Women in the Dominican Republic and their Stories. Women in the Dominican
Republic are treated the exact same way that women in the
United States are treated. In the earlier centuries, Dominican women were known to be housewives,
women that were trained to serve their husband and have children to carry their last names. Iconic
women in the Dominican Republic can be traced back to the independence of the Republic.
However, literature on iconic women from the Dominican Republic is not available and very
limited.
Women like MarГa Trinidad Sanchez, an activist affiliated with the founder Juan Pablo Duarte and
La Trinitaria society, involved in the independence of the Dominican Republic. Salome UreГ±a de

women like, Concepcion Bona HernГЎndez whom was the woman who made the last stitches on

13th Articles Of Faith
Good morning brothers and sisters. The topic that I was assigned to speak on today is the
thirteenth article of faith and its relevance today for young single adults. I, possibly like some of
you, remember having to recite this particular verse along with the rest of the primary kids during
sharing time. Sitting in a chair that prevented my feet from touching the floor, I can remember
feeling so clever as I substituted chased by an elephant for chaste, benevolent . Judging by some
of your smiles you know exactly what I m talking about. In my ward, the primary president asked
us to memorize all thirteen of the articles of faith before the end of the year. Despite being the
longest, the thirteenth article is the one that I remember most. I... Show more content on

Puritans And Puritans Essay
The most known acts of cruelty in the power of the people are the various punishments dealt out by
the Puritans. Then you have the Quakers they weren t just men appearing on labels of oatmeal bins;
they were chosen to be on the label because the Quaker faith projected the values of honesty,
integrity, purity, and strength. However, the Puritans and Quakers both traveled to the New World
to escape religious prosecutions. John Winthrop, leading the Puritans, wanted a more purified state
and society, giving them the name, Puritans. William Penn, leading the Quakers, wanted to spread
their beliefs through themselves. They questioned leaders, resulting in leading themselves. Both
had different views of reconstructing a new society, religion, and government. Religion was
important to the Quaker and Puritans, but how far they took it made them different. Instead of
fighting to purify the Church of England, the Puritans just traveled to the New World. They settled
in the Massachusetts Bay Colony, which is Boston today. They were able to start over and do it
the right way, but everyone had to practice the bible or be punished. In their purified eyes, the
Church back in England was embracing too many Catholic beliefs. Puritans had zero tolerance and
took religion very seriously, making them a theocracyafter leaving that in the first place. They were

In the way he conveys this, it s clear that he feels time is moving very slowly. In the third stanza,
We do not wind it up, it has no weights, spring wheels inside of its slender self, no indeed dear
nothing of the kind (Cummings Web), Cummings creates vivid imagery. This shows that
Cummings is relating how he has no use for a clock and doesn t care for the principle of keeping
time. He would rather live life time free, without having to worry about being on time or being late.
The third and final poetic device that shows up in the poem, 9 , is symbolism. To begin the
poem Cummings uses symbolism. The number 9 refers to the number of times he uses the
words, tic toc , toc tic , tic tic , toc , and tic . Also, as seen in the fourth stanza, So when kiss

word kiss to complicate and clutter the verse. If you remove those words, he simply summarizes
all of his thoughts in the last stanza. He says when spring comes; we can kiss because the clocks
don t make a difference to you and me. This symbolizes that Cummings can t wait for the spring
and summer months when the clocks don t play a role in his life.
In conclusion, Cummings uses his poem 9 to relay his feeling to time. He feels that

Abstract There are different types of tumors are available. Astrocytoma is the most common type of
tumor (30% of all brain tumor) and is usually a malignant one. Astrocytoma can be subdivided into
four grades. Each grade has its own characteristics and unique treatment. In the event that any
wrong treatment is given to these evaluations that prompts passing. So finding the position and
shape of tumor is very important for the further treatment. The proposed system of this paper is to
find the exact position and shape of the tumor cells. That helps the physician for further treatment.
In the proposed system, it consists of four modules (i) Pre processing, (ii) Segmentation of brain in
MR Images,(iii) Quality extraction and (iv) Inexact reasoning. Preprocessing is carried out by
sifting. Segmentation is carried out by cutting edge both K means and Fuzzy C means calculations.
Quality extraction is by thresholding. Finally, Approximate reasoning method to recognize the
tumor shape and position in MRI image. If the tumor is a mass in shape then k means algorithm is
enough to extract it from brain cells. Suppose if it is a malignant (spread over the brain) one then

Graham Greene s The Quiet American
The United States must make hard decisions as conflict arises between the United States and the
Soviet Union. After World War II, the US began to have conflicting views with the Soviet Union
which caused a series of proxy wars, one of them occurring in Vietnam. The Soviet Union was
trying to make Vietnam one of their satellite nations, a nation that is aligned and under the
influence of the Soviet Union, while the US wanted to stop the Soviet Union s influence on other
nations. There were differing view on whether or not the US should intervene in vietnam. An
illustration of these differing views is seen in Graham Greene s novel The Quiet American where

After seeing the results of the General ThГ© s bombs Pyle believed that the vietnamese were
only war casualties... It was a pity, but you can t always hit your target. Anyway they died in the
right cause... they died for democracy (Greene 171). Pyle s carefree tone shows how he was fine
with the deaths of many innocent Vietnamese people as long as his own selfish goal of stopping
communism was achieved. Pyle did not care about the Vietnamese people because he pushed
them aside and said that he was doing to for democracy. In the Nation Magazine s Puppets and
Patriots, they criticized the US on how it was put into a position which has become almost
habitual, the position of giving support moral, diplomatic, financial to a regime whose only
virtue is its anti communism (Puppets). Nation Magazine s purpose in writing this was to expose
the US selfish motives and is shown by their critical tone. This is significant because it shows that
the US would support poor leaders, including Diem, who had little support from the vietnamese.
This proves how Fowlers perspective was more justified because Pyle did not care about the well
being of the Vietnamese and chose to support General ThГ© even after seeing the damage that he
has caused in vietnam, so that he could satisfy his own selfish needs. The US did not truly

To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf Essay
To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf
When speaking of modernism in the work Virginia Woolf, scholars too readily use her innovations
in style and technique as the starting point for critical analysis, focusing largely on the ways in
which her prose represents a departure from the conventional novel in both style and content. To
simply discuss the extent of her unique style, however, is to overlook the role of tradition in her
creation of a new literary identity. In To the Lighthouse, Woolf s invention reveals itself instead as a
reinvention, a recasting of the conventional through the use of the traditional. Within the text, this
relationship manifests itself in Lily Briscoe s relationship with Mrs. Ramsay and the extent to which

To the Lighthouse most appropriately fits this latter definition, where Woolf s own discourse
suggests a similar understanding of the term (Zwerdling 180). In a diary entry of 1928, Woolf
notes her reluctance to consider To the Lighthouse a novel, describing it instead as a final act of
remembrance: I used to think of him [father] and mother daily she recalled, but writing The
Lighthouse laid them in my mind. In another entry the same year, Woolf describes To the
Lighthouse as a burial rite, a cathartic elegy in which she expressed some very long felt and deeply
felt emotion...and in expressing it explained it, and then laid it to rest. Contemporary scholars of
Woolf s work have similarly affirmed the importance of the concept of elegy within To the
Lighthouse, asserting as Eavan Boland does that the true text of To the Lighthouse is undoubtedly
Mrs. Ramsay, a figurative representation of Julia Duckworth Stephen, Woolf s mother (Boland 10).
In a letter sent to Woolf after reading the novel, Vanessa Bellfurther reinforces Mrs. Ramsay s
connection to Julia, noting that Woolf had created in Mrs. Ramsay a portrait of mother which is
more like her to me than anything I could have ever conceived of as possible. Through Woolf s
own comments as well as those familiar with her life, it therefore

Basket making was normally done by the elders of the tribe. The elders would sit around large
fires weaving baskets and singing ancient songs or prayers. Phillip Martin said, The baskets were
made out of any materials found in the area. The most common material used was tall grass

Hall of the Tribes we found a basket that was taller than a fully grown man. The basket was made
out of tall grass and weighed well over one hundred pounds. In order to color a basket tall grass
would have to be cut and dried on drying racks. After the grass was dried baskets would be
decorated with dye. In order to dye a basket a particular color different herbs, fruit berries,
flowers, grasses of color, and certain species of trees were selected to make the different dye
colors. The materials used for dye were then crushed or pulverized into powder and made into
paste or liquid paint. After the dye paint was made the tall grass was soaked in the desired color
and again placed on drying racks. Weavers then selected the desired color stained grass and wove
it into their baskets. After we departed the Hall of Tribes, we ventured out into the surrounding

are mandatory for an organization to succeed. A team will not be effective without followers
because they see where the leader wants to go and why, and then help find the best way to get

this statement it can have a person second guessing his or herself because you are taught from
when you are a child not to be a follower. However, after continuing the chapter and getting a

The Period of Enlightened Absolutism in Europe
The period of enlightened absolutism across all of Europe revealed a significant change in the
processes and objectives of rulers during this time period. The great philosopher, Machiavelli,
approached the reason that a ruler should present two qualities in order to drive a successful
community. A ruler needed to behave both like a lion and like a fox he believed. These two traits
can be seen clearly in two foremost rulers during this time period. Catherine the Great of Russia
and Elizabeth I of Englandhad clearly fulfilled the suggestion made by Machiavelli. These two
iconic rulers met the proposition made by Machiavelli by enforcing both aggressive, but yet clever
procedures against other countries and the poor in order to create a better country for themselves.
Catherine the Great had a very strong powerful army that she used to her advantage to expand her
empire while Elizabeth I avoided the wars and went behind the back to attack Spanish armadas. Sir
Francis Drake was an English Sea Captain who had undertaken a major voyage against Spanish
ports and ships to the Caribbean in 1585 and 1586, and in 1587 had made a successful raid on
Cadiz, destroying the Spanish fleet of war ships. It is seen here that Elizabeth I avoided the war
and hired Francis Drake to take over. Furious with this, Philip II had decided to take the war to
England. England defeated Spain greatly and sent them back home. Elizabeth was invited to give a
speech to her troops. She said, My loving

In Praise Of The F Word By Mary Sherry
A few students will either leave high school happy or upset for many reasons. According in the
story of In Praise of the F Word, by Mary Sherry, she believe that it s healthy fear of failure, which
mean students can fail. Also, she believes that if a student is misbehaving in class, to threatened
them by saying I will flunk you in the class. By threatening the students, she strongly believes that
they will straight up and they will do their work. In other words, students care about more in the
grades then the actually learning in class.
When students flunk in school, it looks imperfect on the school and many more of other reasons.
Now the students have to retake the classes, because they were either not doing the work or just
didn t care about school. It starts to show how some students prefer to drop out of school for
drugs and etc. If they feel like they re not smart for whatever reason, their excuses will be oh not
doing the work, because I don t understand. When they can ask for help or get a tutor that will be
willing work out the problems for them.
Therefore, students that choose to flunk in school is a bad thing. The reason why, because they
find so many excuses to fail when they can t try it out first before saying it s too hard. It won t
hurt them to ask for help instead of trying to run away from the issues. It all begins with
participating in class and study until you get it memorize. Sometimes it is difficult to get the hang

Named after the Polish mathematician, Waclaw Sierpinski, the Sierpinski Trianglehas been the

Using this formula:
Log(4)
= Log(2)
Log(22)
= Log(2)
2Log(2)
= Log(2)
= 2
A square comes out to be a two dimensional object, but it doesn t work out so cleanly with the
Sierpinski Triangle. When you divide the triangle into pieces whose sides are half the size of the
original, you get three self similar triangles, so the formula works out:
Log(3)
= Log(2)
≈ 1.58496
But how can this be possible? The picture of the triangle is two dimensional. But remember, this is
only a depiction of the triangle. The real Sierpinski Triangle cannot be drawn because it is
infinitely detailed. 3
Another interesting aspect of the Sierpinski Triangle is its creation. There are several ways of
producing an image of the Sierpinski Triangle. The first and simplest method is by taking an
equilateral triangle and connecting the midpoints to create four triangles with sides that are half the
size of the original. Disregard the middle triangle and repeat these steps with the newly created
three other triangles. The Sierpinski Triangle begins to appear.
Of course, this would only be a true Sierpinski Triangle if you were to repeat these steps an infinite
number of times. So, realistically, this method only creates an image that resembles the Sierpinski
Triangle.
The next method of Sierpinski Triangle creation is by using the Chaos Game. The Chaos Game is
a method that uses randomly picked points to build an image of the triangle. To

Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in 1959. APB issued 31 Opinions from 1959 to 1973 and
those Opinions created GAAP. I think GAAP is interesting due to how many companies think
they can get away with financial dealings but get caught. I also think that GAAP is a system that
really needs a good looking at and maybe an overhaul. Some people say the GAAP is dead and
should be shelved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the United States, as well as other countries practicing English common law system, the
government does not set accounting standards, in the belief that the private sector has better
knowledge and resources. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki
/US_generally_accepted_accounting_principles
GAAPS are rules to be followed by every company and are shunned or misused by many more.
That said GAAP is only a set of standards. There is plenty of room within GAAP for unscrupulous
accountants to distort figures. Some say that the GAAP

standards distort the true economic reality, produce unreliable corporate standards and serve as an
unproductive compensation system.
GAAPS are not natural laws of physics or other sciences but instead are identified in response to the
needs of users and others affected by accounting. They are man made rules that depend for their
authority upon their general acceptance by the accounting profession. (Pyle Larson,1981).
GAAP include both broad and specific principles. The broad principles describe the basic
assumptions and general guidelines that accountants follow in preparing financial statements. The
specific principles provide more detailed rules that accountants follow in reporting results of
various business activities. The broad principles stem from observing long used accounting
practices were as the specific principles are established more often by the

No Prayer in Public Schools Essay
No Prayer in Public Schools
Chapter three of Civil Liberties: Opposing Viewpoints inspired me to research today s issues of
school prayer. To understand how we got to where we are today, I first delved into our countries
history of court cases pertaining to rulings on prayer in schools. Lastly, to update my audience on
how our lives are being affected today, I directed my efforts toward finding current situations. By
analyzing these situations, I gained knowledge for a better understanding of why society needs to
be aware of these controversies. I don t think there should be any form of organized prayer in
today s public schools.
Praying in school was first addressed in the Supreme Court in 1962 in the Engle v. Vitale case. The

Jaffree case, the court struck down Alabama s moment of silence law by banning observance of
daily moments of silence from public schools when students were encouraged to pray during the
silent periods.
When we move to current issues, we find children like Emily Lesk, a Virginia student, who stands
in the hallway for one minute every morning because she does not agree with the moment of
silence her school holds (Lesk). I feel that many children are faced with difficult decisions,
affecting their self esteem. Some parents put pressure on their kids to get up and walk out, just like
Emily does. However, this draws attention to them and provides an opportunity for their peers to
unfairly judge them. On the other hand, if they remain in class, they will be disobeying their parents.
A wall of separation has long been established and it is understood that two basic institutions of
society can influence one another, yet neither will dominate the other. The issue of teaching religion
in school can be judged by this principal. A strong point addressed, which I agree with, states that
teaching morals and values is different than teaching religion.
Prayer in school has been an issue for many years, and there is not one solution that everyone
will agree on. This issue will hit close to home in a short number of years when I start my own
family. I will be faced with difficult decisions when placing my children into a school. Many pieces

Child Rearing Interview
For the interview, I call a family friend. She has two daughters, a 6 year old and a 3 year old,
because of this I thought she was the perfect person to ask questions to. One issue that I want to
highlight is about child rearing. For this reason I thought she will be someone good to talked
about receiving advice on how to take care of children. The question that I ask her was, What
advice will you give me if I were to someday have a baby? She told me that the best advice she
could give me was to take maternity/antenatal classes for first time mothers. She told me that it
was important for first time mothers to know what to do if their baby got sick and instead of going
to the doctor every time the baby cry, to know the difference between

Relationship Between Drug And Alcohol
The first thing that the course has helped to understand in relation to drug and alcohol is the
different terms that are used when counseling a person. This is the general terms that are used
when counseling a patient. For example, it is not good to use terms like you are wrong, you do
not know or you are foolish. The course has helped to learn the new terms that I will be using like,
instead of saying you are wrong, you can say, that is another good reason. Additionally, it has
helped us to learn the tone of language that is to be used. When counseling a patient, one should
always be calm and always be positive about what the patient is feeling and thinking.
It is also in this unit of general psychology that we have learned how very different people behave
in the different ways. This is where the course has taught me why different people behave as they
do and why they end up drinking. Stress is one factor that makes people end up becoming alcoholic
or turning into drugs. Additionally, drug abuse and alcoholismhave also been known to be
hereditary from the recent research studies that have been done by the different scholars. It is
through this course that we have learned the very many reasons as to why people behave in
different ways and why they take drugs or alcohol.
I have learned the different forms of therapy that are used in counseling in this course. This is
where the introduction to therapy is done. One way of helping a drug or an alcohol addict to stop

Pet Adoption
Pet Adoption
Many people have different thoughts on adoption. Such as why adoption is a good thing not only
for the animal but also the owner, if each dog deserves a second chance, and if there should be kill
shelters.
Adoption is good for both the animal and the owner, by adopting an animal is gives them a new
home that they deserve. Adoption gives the owner a sense of what the animal has gone through,
which sometimes helps understand the way the animal may act and can help find ways to train
them. Adoption gives the animal a new start and a family that will love them no matter what. It can
also help a family come together in hard times and help each other get through it.
I believe that every animal deservers a second chance. It s not

Cold and Warm Fronts
Cold and Warm fronts Often times when we experience a drastic change in weather, these changes
occur from fronts. Both warm and cold fronts create sudden changes. These fronts are different air
masses that separate at different densities. Zones are what separate the difference between warm
and cold fronts. Often times between warm and cold front there are narrow lines and they`re
typically shown by lines on a weather map. Usually, an air massadvance into the region occupied by
another air mass. When two fronts collide this creates a midlatitude cyclone. Also, bringing much
precipitationand severe weather to the area. There are five basic types of fronts warm fronts, cold
fronts, stationary fronts, occluded fronts, and drylines. Although, these are all important and have
a big impact on our weather systems the most common are warm and cold fronts. Warm fronts are
noted on a weather map often by a red line with semicircles indication the direction in which the
front is heading. They often invade an area of cooler air, and bring warmer air to the area. Warm
fonts usually move from southwest to northeast and the air behind a warm frontis usually warmer
and moister than the air behind it (Climate Weather. Web). They often come into play in the
United States by (mT) or maritime tropical. This is where the warm air enters the borders from
the Gulf of Mexico pushing over the land where cooler air exist. Generally when these fonts
combine this produces all kinds of

Corn Syrup Pros And Cons
High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is known to be a sweetener derived from corm, which comes in
two forms HFCS 42 and HFCS 55. This indicates it is made up of either fifty five percent or forty
two percent fructose and the remaining sugars are typically glucose. HFCS is considered to be
identical to table sugar, which is made up of fifty percent of fructoseand fifty percent glucose.
Fructose being a simple form of sugar can be found in foods such as honey and fruits. Some of
the pros of HFCS include: it is composed from corn that is a natural grain and therefore a natural
sweetener; it does not contain any artificial, synthetic contents, or colored additives; and it is
approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration s long standing policy as it is recognized as
being a natural substance ( About High Fructose Corn Syrup, 2016).... Show more content on

Obesity is contributed by the consumption of more calories than are expended as well as type II
diabetes, which are linked to obesity. The U.S. Department of Agriculture data indicates that
consumption of HFCS has been decreasing, while obesity and diabetes are rising. Other studies
indicate that many other parts of the world that do not have access to HFCS and are still seeing
a rise in obesity ( About High Fructose Corn Syrup, 2016). However, other indicators for the rise
of obesity may include: diet, exercise, and changes in a person s lifestyle. Sugars produce energy
in the form of calories providing building blocks for other molecules in, which the body requires
such as fats and proteins. Other benefits it provides other than as a sweetener consist of: texture,
functions as a preservative, helps with brown baked foods, provides fermentable sugars, retains
moisture, decreases the harsh vinegar or acid bite, regulates melting, boiling, and frizzing points in
certain products ( About High Fructose Corn Syrup,

Often times we as younger generation believe that older people just nag all the time and to get rid of that nagging we send them to nursing homes or to an organization that will take care of them. Elder people do not realize what they are saying or doing because a lot of them have health problem that can or cannot be treated, they are babies and as youngest generation we do not see that or understand. • 7. Analysis Of Blink By Malcolm Gladwell Is Blink Good Psychology? Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Jung, once said, The pendulum of the mind oscillates between sense and nonsense, not between right and wrong. In his book, Blink, Malcolm Gladwell sets out to prove that the real difference between good and bad decision making has more to do with our abilities as humans to focus on select, particular details about a situation as opposed to the sheer amount of information we process, but are the tactics utilized by Gladwell in his novel good psychology? It is of my belief that Gladwell s work is psychology due to the amount of outside studies, research, and applications Gladwell incorporates into his book in addition to the fact that it attempts to follow the eight critical thinking guidelines as per Psychology and the DSM 5. While Gladwell does not specifically outline how his theory of thin slicing and snap decision making relates to the eight guidelines, this information follows these guidelines; this enables us to more accurately judge the content of his novel because he analyzed the information he used. The first of these is define your terms: In the first several chapters of his book, Gladwell explains to readers the terms he uses such as the adaptive unconscious The adaptive unconscious is thoughtof, instead, as a kind of computer that quickly and quietly processes a lot of the data we need in order to keep functioning as human beings (pg. 11) and priming experiments by giving... • 8. Tcp And Transmission Control Protocol TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) is connection oriented and reliable service widely used in internet. TCP offers error correction and the protocol offers guaranteed delivery. This is because of the property which TCP has, that is flow control. It determines when the data needs to be resent and stops the flow of data unless the previous transferred data has been successfully transferred. This is because of the congestion control where the packets of data sent may collide. Congestion control occurs if the client requests the data from the server and there is any collision, there will be a re request where the whole data is transferred complete and identical to the original as requested. TCP provides a connection oriented service. Connection oriented means, two different applications using TCP. Considering client and server model, they must establish a TCP with each other before any data can be exchanged. TCP also provides reliable service. This service can be offered by the following ways: * The data which is to be exchanged can be broken into bits and sent over to receive at other end. This process is called segment. * A timer is maintained every time when TCP sends a segment in order to acknowledge the reception. If the acknowledgement is not received the data is resent again until an acknowledgement is received. * TCP does an end to end checksum by maintaining checksum on header and data to make sure that no alterations have been done to the data. * The flow control ... Gender Dynamics Within Iran — Offside Film The Gender Dynamics Within Iran Throughout the various texts and films we observed this semester, there were a multitude of underlying themes associated with each. These themes do not live in a textual or film related vacuum, but rather offer major implications on given Middle Eastern cultures. In the fictional film Offside, directed by Jafar Panahi, he decides to zero in on the complex culture within Iran. He illustrates the culture within Iran by employing the 2006 World Cup qualifying soccer match between Iran and Bahrain as a metaphor of the various social dynamics attached to this sporting event and the country as a whole. That said, there are numerous underlying themes associated with this film. In this paper, however, I will... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, the ticker scalper fretfully asks the if she know[s] what they ll do if they catch [her]? (Panahi). This implies the public perception of the military s enforcement of this law is extremely strict and violating it is very much unsafe. However, the actions of the soldiers in their treatment of the girls suggests otherwise. At the end of the movie, the girls and soldiers are celebrating with all the Iranian people in the streets after the huge win, which provides the notion that these young women got off scot free. Perhaps Panahi is symbolizing fear tactics practiced by the government in order to promote law abiding citizens. The soldier who appears to be in the leadership position is greatly concerned with going on military leave as he tells a girl, [he] should be on leave...it s [her] fault [he s] on duty here (Panahi). • 12. The Problem Of The Medical Marijuana Industry The medical marijuana industry has seen staggering growth in recent years with many state level legalizations and the federal memo issued in 2013 that told prosecutors to leave these businesses alone, as long as they comply with all their state laws. Colorado was the first state to legalize marijuana for recreational purposes and marijuana infused edibles soon became a rapidly growing element within the marijuana industry. As such, states are struggling to write effective legislation and create adequate testing and identification to address this new industry. However, compliance is just one area of riskmanagement faced by the marijuana edibles industry. Just as any other manufacturer of a food product, edibles manufacturers face many hazardrisks in the operation of their business (Frosch, 2014). Hazard risks are one of the four classifications of risks, which also include operational risks, financial risks and strategic risks. Identifying risks in this classification system focuses on the source of the risk as opposed to identifying by the type of risk. Hazard risks are classified as a pure risk, arising from property, liability or personnel loss exposures. These risks are insurable risks and typically are covered by an insurance policy. Fire and other property damage, windstorm and other natural perils, theft and other crimes (including personal injury), business interruption, disease and disability (including work related injuries and disease), and liability claims are ... Managers and Leaders While it is difficult to offer a specific definition of a manager and leader, the type of control used to manage/persuade employees can offer a clear distinction. A manager often uses a bureaucratic, authoritative style, and a leader most often relies on charisma and influence to achieve goals. Neither style is better than the other; however, one may achieve greater results dependent upon the situation. According to Yuki, within the managementatmosphere, many decision processes are disorderly and political (2006, p. 26). In the case with Tyco, many actions completed by the accounting department were highly political, being based upon information directly from the CEO. By: Daniela Calderon In The Great Gatsby, written by Scott Fitzgerald, Tom Buchanan and Jay Gatsby are two characters that struggle with the idea of losing their shared love interest, Daisy. Tom and Gatsby s attachment to Daisy is differently justified due to their contrasting views, personalities, attitudes, actions, backgrounds, and other factors, some of which they do share and concur in. Fitzgerald did a great thing here. In my opinion, Gatsby did not do so well when attempting to pull off a defying front during his confrontation with Tom. Tom also comes off as a racist bigot who fears that the Black race will eventually submerge the White race, a sexist, and an abusive, insensitive, brute , like Daisy calls him. Gatsby s open house parties which contain very colorful characters, on the other hand, seem to show little prejudice or judgment in his persona. Gatsby s action of waiting outside the Buchannan s home all night just to make sure Tom would not physically harm Daisy, show just how sensitive Gatsby is to Daisy s well being. Tom seems to be very blunt and crude, while Gatsby s distinguishing feature is the enigma that is his life. Jay Gatsby holds himself to high expectations and lived his life chasing a single dream, while Tom Buchanan seems to have no direction, goals, or dreams, other than to waste away his wealth, and please his selfish needs. In my opinion, the fundamental difference between Tom and Gatsby is how Fitzgerald decided that justice would be served to each concerning part. Tom is the definition of ... Within the first few lines of Kant s essay, what is Enlightenment? , he states the definition of enlightenment as man s emergence from his self incurred immaturity (Kant 1). Kant first highlights the problem of immaturity, which he says to be the inability to use one s own understanding, but lack of resolution and courage to use it without the guidance of another (Kant, 1). Kant most likely sees this problem of intellectual immaturity as a result of the interference of the church and/or the state in allowing the free discussion of ideas and challenging of status quo ideas. Since individual enlightenment in some ways actually depends on public enlightenment, this provides another condition for a fully enlightened society to exist. First there were rudimentary tools such as arrows and hammering utensils which allowed humans a far great range in manipulating their environment. Today s societies have more advanced tools such as a laptop, IPod, GPS, cell phone, a seemingly infinite number of other gizmos and gadgets that shape their lives. • 22. The Violence Of Domestic Violence Cycle of Violence in Domestic Violence As stated by the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, domestic violence is defined as a pattern of coercive and controlling behaviors and tactics used by one person over another (by or to any household member) to gain power and control. This may include verbal abuse, financial abuse, emotional, sexual, and physical abuse. (The Official Website of the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security.) Domestic abuse frequently becomes more often and dangerous over time. After researching Lenore E. Walker, Executive Director of the Domestic ViolenceInstitute, studied, researched and interviewed hundreds of women victims of domestic violence and came to the conclusion that many violent relationships follow a similar pattern. In 1979, Walker developed a social cycle theory cycle that explains the behaviors involved in a domestic abuse. This cycle developed by her, could take days months or years to develop, it is different for each relationship and not all follow the pattern, and not all necessarily lead to physical abuse. Astrocytoma can be subdivided into four grades. Each grade has its own characteristics and unique treatment. In the event that any wrong treatment is given to these evaluations that prompts passing. So finding the position and shape of tumor is very important for the further treatment. The proposed system of this paper is to find the exact position and shape of the tumor cells. That helps the physician for further treatment. In the proposed system, it consists of four modules (i) Pre processing, (ii) Segmentation of brain in MR Images,(iii) Quality extraction and (iv) Inexact reasoning. Preprocessing is carried out by sifting. Segmentation is carried out by cutting edge both K means and Fuzzy C means calculations. Quality extraction is by thresholding. Nation Magazine s purpose in writing this was to expose the US selfish motives and is shown by their critical tone. This is significant because it shows that the US would support poor leaders, including Diem, who had little support from the vietnamese. To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf Essay To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf When speaking of modernism in the work Virginia Woolf, scholars too readily use her innovations in style and technique as the starting point for critical analysis, focusing largely on the ways in which her prose represents a departure from the conventional novel in both style and content. To simply discuss the extent of her unique style, however, is to overlook the role of tradition in her creation of a new literary identity. To the Lighthouse most appropriately fits this latter definition, where Woolf s own discourse suggests a similar understanding of the term (Zwerdling 180). In a diary entry of 1928, Woolf notes her reluctance to consider To the Lighthouse a novel, describing it instead as a final act of remembrance: I used to think of him [father] and mother daily she recalled, but writing The Lighthouse laid them in my mind. In another entry the same year, Woolf describes To the Lighthouse as a burial rite, a cathartic elegy in which she expressed some very long felt and deeply felt emotion...and in expressing it explained it, and then laid it to rest. Contemporary scholars of Woolf s work have similarly affirmed the importance of the concept of elegy within To the Lighthouse, asserting as Eavan Boland does that the true text of To the Lighthouse is undoubtedly Mrs. Ramsay, a figurative representation of Julia Duckworth Stephen, Woolf s mother (Boland 10). In a letter sent to Woolf after reading the novel, Vanessa Bellfurther reinforces Mrs. Ramsay s connection to Julia, noting that Woolf had created in Mrs. Ramsay a portrait of mother which is more like her to me than anything I could have ever conceived of as possible. The Period of Enlightened Absolutism in Europe The period of enlightened absolutism across all of Europe revealed a significant change in the processes and objectives of rulers during this time period. The great philosopher, Machiavelli, approached the reason that a ruler should present two qualities in order to drive a successful community. A ruler needed to behave both like a lion and like a fox he believed. These two traits can be seen clearly in two foremost rulers during this time period. Catherine the Great of Russia and Elizabeth I of Englandhad clearly fulfilled the suggestion made by Machiavelli. These two iconic rulers met the proposition made by Machiavelli by enforcing both aggressive, but yet clever procedures against other countries and the poor in order to create a better country for themselves. Catherine the Great had a very strong powerful army that she used to her advantage to expand her empire while Elizabeth I avoided the wars and went behind the back to attack Spanish armadas. Sir Francis Drake was an English Sea Captain who had undertaken a major voyage against Spanish ports and ships to the Caribbean in 1585 and 1586, and in 1587 had made a successful raid on Cadiz, destroying the Spanish fleet of war ships. When you divide the triangle into pieces whose sides are half the size of the original, you get three self similar triangles, so the formula works out: Log(3) = Log(2) ≈ 1.58496 But how can this be possible? The picture of the triangle is two dimensional. But remember, this is only a depiction of the triangle. The real Sierpinski Triangle cannot be drawn because it is infinitely detailed. 3 Another interesting aspect of the Sierpinski Triangle is its creation. There are several ways of producing an image of the Sierpinski Triangle. The first and simplest method is by taking an equilateral triangle and connecting the midpoints to create four triangles with sides that are half the size of the original. Disregard the middle triangle and repeat these steps with the newly created three other triangles. The Sierpinski Triangle begins to appear. To understand how we got to where we are today, I first delved into our countries history of court cases pertaining to rulings on prayer in schools. Lastly, to update my audience on how our lives are being affected today, I directed my efforts toward finding current situations. By analyzing these situations, I gained knowledge for a better understanding of why society needs to be aware of these controversies. I don t think there should be any form of organized prayer in today s public schools. Praying in school was first addressed in the Supreme Court in 1962 in the Engle v. Vitale case. The ... Jaffree case, the court struck down Alabama s moment of silence law by banning observance of daily moments of silence from public schools when students were encouraged to pray during the silent periods. When we move to current issues, we find children like Emily Lesk, a Virginia student, who stands in the hallway for one minute every morning because she does not agree with the moment of silence her school holds (Lesk). I feel that many children are faced with difficult decisions, affecting their self esteem. Some parents put pressure on their kids to get up and walk out, just like Emily does. However, this draws attention to them and provides an opportunity for their peers to unfairly judge them. On the other hand, if they remain in class, they will be disobeying their parents. A wall of separation has long been established and it is understood that two basic institutions of society can influence one another, yet neither will dominate the other. The issue of teaching religion in school can be judged by this principal. A strong point addressed, which I agree with, states that teaching morals and values is different than teaching religion. Prayer in school has been an issue for many years, and there is not one solution that everyone will agree on. This issue will hit close to home in a short number of years when I start my own family. I will be faced with difficult decisions when placing my children into a school. Many pieces of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Relationship Between Drug And Alcohol The first thing that the course has helped to understand in relation to drug and alcohol is the different terms that are used when counseling a person. This is the general terms that are used when counseling a patient. For example, it is not good to use terms like you are wrong, you do not know or you are foolish. The course has helped to learn the new terms that I will be using like, instead of saying you are wrong, you can say, that is another good reason. Additionally, it has helped us to learn the tone of language that is to be used. When counseling a patient, one should always be calm and always be positive about what the patient is feeling and thinking. It is also in this unit of general psychology that we have learned how very different people behave in the different ways. This is where the course has taught me why different people behave as they do and why they end up drinking. Stress is one factor that makes people end up becoming alcoholic or turning into drugs. Additionally, drug abuse and alcoholismhave also been known to be hereditary from the recent research studies that have been done by the different scholars. It is through this course that we have learned the very many reasons as to why people behave in different ways and why they take drugs or alcohol. I have learned the different forms of therapy that are used in counseling in this course. This is where the introduction to therapy is done. One way of helping a drug or an alcohol addict to stop ... • 46. Pet Adoption Pet Adoption Many people have different thoughts on adoption. Such as why adoption is a good thing not only for the animal but also the owner, if each dog deserves a second chance, and if there should be kill shelters. Adoption is good for both the animal and the owner, by adopting an animal is gives them a new home that they deserve. Adoption gives the owner a sense of what the animal has gone through, which sometimes helps understand the way the animal may act and can help find ways to train them. Adoption gives the animal a new start and a family that will love them no matter what. It can also help a family come together in hard times and help each other get through it. I believe that every animal deservers a second chance. It s not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These fronts are different air masses that separate at different densities. Zones are what separate the difference between warm and cold fronts. There are five basic types of fronts warm fronts, cold fronts, stationary fronts, occluded fronts, and drylines. Although, these are all important and have a big impact on our weather systems the most common are warm and cold fronts. Warm fronts are noted on a weather map often by a red line with semicircles indication the direction in which the front is heading. They often invade an area of cooler air, and bring warmer air to the area. Warm fonts usually move from southwest to northeast and the air behind a warm frontis usually warmer and moister than the air behind it (Climate Weather. Web).
