Kindness Essay
Crafting an essay on the theme of kindness might seem deceptively simple, as the subject itself
is warm and inviting. However, delving into the intricacies of kindness and presenting a
thoughtful, engaging piece can be more challenging than anticipated.
The difficulty lies in striking a balance between conveying the essence of kindness and avoiding
clichГ©s or superficial expressions. It's easy to fall into the trap of using generic statements
without exploring the depth and various dimensions of kindness. Additionally, finding a unique
angle or perspective that captures the reader's attention while staying true to the theme can be a
complex task.
Moreover, defining kindness can be a subjective endeavor, as it encompasses a wide range of
gestures, emotions, and behaviors. The challenge lies in presenting a comprehensive view that
goes beyond the surface, exploring the psychological, societal, and personal aspects of kindness.
One must navigate the complexities of human nature and society to offer a nuanced and
insightful analysis.
The writing process involves not only expressing personal views on kindness but also
incorporating relevant examples, anecdotes, or research findings to substantiate the arguments.
This requires thorough research and critical thinking skills, adding another layer of complexity to
the task.
Furthermore, maintaining a cohesive structure and ensuring a smooth flow of ideas is crucial.
Transitioning seamlessly between different aspects of kindness, be it in relationships,
communities, or global contexts, demands a careful balance to keep the essay engaging and
coherent.
In conclusion, while the topic of kindness may initially seem straightforward, the process of
crafting an essay on this theme is, in reality, a challenging endeavor. It necessitates a deep
exploration of the subject, careful consideration of diverse perspectives, and skillful expression
to create a compelling and thought-provoking piece.

Mcdonald s And Shake Shack Essay
In a society where both parents in a household are often working, people rely on
fast food to feed their family. Despite the fact that there are many options, some are
of a much higher quality than others. An example of this is McDonald s and Shake
Shack. Although these two fast food restaurants share some similarities, there are
many differences most of which lie in price and quality. However, they are both very
popular places that people go for burgers and fries. If time is a factor in what type of
foodto choose for dinner, then both Shake Shack and McDonald s offer the same
option of quick dining. Mcdonald s and Shake Shack are comparable in that they
offer expedient service take out time. Often parents can t take their small children...

Kids like simple food and these two places offer that. Despite the aforementioned
similarities, there are several key differences between Shake Shack and McDonald
s that might factor into choosing one over the other. One key difference is cost.
This is the biggest difference when picking from the two establishments. While
both serve the same types of food and they look the same they when you re inside
they aren t.It s a know facts that mcdonald s has a extremely low quality of
meat. There are some people when hearing that will never eat there again and be
loyal to shake shack. The majority will eat both meats what you have to decide is
whether you wanna a big juicy burger for a little more money or u wanna save
money get dollar burger. Many parents will chose mcdonalds if they have kids
because it could be costly to feed a family at shake shack. Another main difference
is quality and taste. In others words, the cliche you get what you pay for, does run
true. The qualities of the two meats are very know in the public.Shack shake meat
grade is an A ,while mcdonald s has a b grade meat .This is problem to lot of
people and why they might chose to eat at shake shack over mcdonald.Anyone who
s been to these places can tell you that the taste extremely better at Shake Shack
rather than the Mcdonalds. It s all based on the rule you get what you pay for .Shake
shack taste much better because you pay seven dollars a burger while at mcdonald s

Team Process Of A Team
Team Process: When becoming a part of a team, at the beginning of this semester,
I never imagined how much teamwork and communication was needed to get even
an entry level project done in a team. One of the best traits of my team was our
excellent use of coordination. Coordination helped us stay organized, as well as
made each team member more effective. We never missed a team meeting, and
always completed our assigned work on time. The Gantt chart we created towards
the beginning of our project, helped each member stay organized, so no one
member took on a larger share of work than assigned to. As well as staying
organized, we worked well as a team, and I believe we all respected each others
abilities to complete our own tasks. The reason we were able to function so well,
was because only the facilitator had the desire to lead. There were no power
struggle and confrontations. There were never conflicting ideas in the team, we
all accepted what we had to do and let one person take charge. However, that doesn
t mean, we didn t put in a lot work. We worked hard to complete our project; it only
shows that we were able to work well, when given the task of turning design ideas
into reality. As an engineer, you will not have total freedom of concept, design and
build. You might have one task, or many, but there could be many people working
on a project and you will have to build according to someone else s specifications
and design. To engage all team members, we made sure
Interrogation And Discourse Analysis
The evolution of definitions used in international and domestic communities is
critical to acknowledging modernization and willingness to act fairly. Although the
Justice Department authorized questionable techniques used for intelligence
collection and CIA agents ensured that professionals were present during
interrogation sessions, a strong question of ethics used and how this was viewed in
relation to crimes against human rightsduring the interrogation sessions has persisted
for years as unanswerable. After extensive research for the final definitions decided
upon for this paper, the lack of international and national consensus on multiple
topics, even down to definitions, was obvious. The modern day U.S. definition for
torture was redefined... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After deciding what documents to use, one must conduct a reading or skimming and
note taking of the documents, which includes: initial thoughts on a codebook
structure; how the documents are organized; major and minor actors; the variables
and independent variables; inputs and outputs; any logistical or background
information relevant to the environment or actor; and potential biases. After the first
read through, one can construct a codebook to instruct the sequence of analysis. A
codebook generally includes a classification for actors, which can indicate the actor s
level of government, associated profession, region of occupancy, etc. It also provides
topics that were mentioned throughout the documents; some discourse analysts prefer
to code a primary and secondary topic, whereas others may prefer to code all topics
mentioned for more conclusive findings. Author Tuen van Dijk describes the

King Joseph II, The Enlightened Despot
Joseph II, the Enlightened Despot When Maria Theresa Empress of Austria (1717
1780) died, her son, Joseph II, became the absolute ruler and enacted all reforms
which he wanted to fulfil, and which opposed those of his mother. Greatly influenced
by the Enlightenment ideals of freedom and equality, his ideas of abolishing serfdom,
carrying out the reforms of religious toleration, and promoting welfare for the people
best reflected the Enlightenment ideals.
In the political order of the Holy Roman Empire, neither freedom, religion, nor
religious equality were granted. After his coronation, Joseph set reforms which
notably included important steps towards serf liberation and, most strikingly,
increased religious tolerance for most non Catholics ... Show more content on

The welfare of the people was of considerable concern to him, and, being a well
intentioned and earnest despot, Joseph II led them to their good by raising funds,
founding orphanages, maternity hospitals and various institutions. His policies
contributed to their welfare by freeing them from the superstitions and prejudices
of the past through exposure to enlightened doctrines (Davis 166). Moreover,
Joseph wrote a system where it was made necessary that each state had primary
education and well paid teachers. He created pension funds for the retired monks as
well as for their students, so that they may help run the government, which would
help the empire to grow stronger. Promoting welfare, to Joseph, is aspired to save
people from their own follies and for their good, an ideal coincidental with
monarchal interests. Therefore, Joseph s government is an Enlightenment ideal
because the government is doing something good for the people, and his power over
everything allowed him to work for the welfare of his
Lady Liberty Research Paper
The Statue of Liberty, also known as Lady Liberty, for me is the most intriguing
part of New York City. It is a symbol of hope, freedom, and a better life in the
United States. It is widely known that Lady Liberty was the first thing immigrants
saw when they came to America, this architectural structure was a symbol of hope
and freedom. What intrigues me the most is, Why would France just give us a an
expensive copper statue? I never understood this until right now, everyone knows
what she symbolizes, she is the Statue of Liberty. The word liberty is related to the
word liberated , which means to free. For example, U.S. soldiers helped liberate
Jews from the concentration camps in Germany after World War 2. The statue was
given to us to represent freedom, the concept on which our great country was born
on. Not just any freedom, a true freedom, a freedom in which we are not
subservient to a king. In a sense, we are being liberated from being servants to the
kingdom. It is our country and we want to protect and defend it because we are
fighting for a cause, not just some person who wears a crown because of the family

To understand this you need to go back in history to the 1790 s when France was
fighting there Revolutionary War. They followed the ways of the United Statesby
starting the French Revolution in the kingdom of France. The bourgeois or middle
class believed the citizens should have a part in the politics of their country and
should not be run by a few aristocrats. France wanted true freedom like the U.S.A.,
they wanted to be liberated from there kings like us. The Statue of Liberty represents
that freedom. The U.S. was the first major country to become independent
successfully and re imagine politics, this led the French to do the same, which led to

Benefit Of Technology Essay
Technology is beneficial because it improves communication while also proving to
be convenient to society. Brad Stone, in his article Web of Risks references
Mitchell Perley, an Atlanta born student that lives in Scotland who still wishes to
stay in touch with his friends at home. Stone says, ...His page is linked to the pages
of 99 friends at his college and 845 back home at various U.S. schools (Stone para 5).
Before technology, if someone moved away, that was the last time they would talk
to their friends. Now with Facebook and many other social media platforms,
Mitchell can talk to and even see into the daily lives of his friends 3,951+ miles
away. It is almost as if Mitchell never left. In the article, As Technology Gets
Better, Will Society get Worse? Tim Wu defines technological evolution and
explains its role in people s lives. Wu says, [Technological evolution] is self
evolution, and it is therefore driven by what we want as opposed to what is
adaptive... When it comes to technologies, we mainly want to make things easy.
Not to be bored (Wu para 12). The invention of technology was centered on the idea
that we could make life easier, and this plan is still the motivation for making new
technology today. Technology is and has always been based on providing an easy
way to talk to people, while also making things easier on a day to day basis. Through
these ideas, technology continues to grow and innovate in a positive direction.

Michael Harrington s The Other America
From The Other America, in Major Problems by Michael Harrington is a document
that tells of the poverty present in America that is often skillfully and unintentionally
concealed and also speaks of Lyndon Johnson s war on poverty and briefly of how
poverty rose during the Reagan administration. After Johnson s declaration of war on
poverty, there was significant change regarding the climate of the social, economic,
and political in the America of those times. And while Johnson s countless social
programs helped decrease poverty immensely, it also left a huge number drowning
in it still. Later Reagan s administration would cite George Gilder on the fact that
welfare did not reduce poverty but increase it to explain why the levels of poverty
rose during the first few months of Reagan s administration. Democrats and liberals
would argue against this and say that poverty... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

During these times, Harrington wrote The Other America which detailed just how
ingrained poverty is in the society of America and how it is concealed throughout the
country by the manner of dress, mannerisms, and character and how that
inadvertently affects them drastically simply because they blend in with the rest of
America that is not struggling economically. Harrington surmises that not only do
those in poverty struggle economically but politically as well as their voice is not
heard.
Part 2: Lyndon B. Johnson s Great Society altered the character and scope of the
federal government by making a significant statement by the social programs he put
into to place and by sending help to the public in order to battle poverty after his
declaration that he had begun a war on poverty. It directly acknowledged that the
American people needed help and that help was in the process of coming. The

Swim group structures were characterized as circular polarized swimming(circle),
swimming facing the current (on current), or swimming in combination of the circle
and current patterns (mixed). Results showed that the group of Salmo salar L.
displayed circle swimming arrangement under low flow velocity conditions, mixed
swimming arrangement with medium flow velocity, and on current arrangement with
high flow velocity. As flow velocity increased, the group of Salmo salar L. would
alter swimming behavior from schooling to swimming against the current and resided

fitness advantages in altering swim structure. Under various flow velocities,

This experiment was taken place in a recirculating flume under various flow

significantly. This is likely due to the fact that there is a trade off among swimming
costs and the net energy yield. Chondrostoma nasus L. residing in high water
velocities are less likely to forage for and capture prey as a consequence of the high
swimming energy cost associated with their environment. Chondrostoma nasus L.
residing in lower water velocities, have a lower swimming cost when it comes to

The Factors Of Teenage Pregnancy
Teenage pregnancy is normally identified as a deprived life choice, for example, tasks
of teenage parenting have long term impact on the mental health of the mother and
children (Statistics New Zealand, 2003). It is important to identify the socioeconomic
factors of teenage pregnancy to lower the chances of mental health problems in young
mothers. In this paper the aim is to analyse the main socioeconomic factors of
teenage pregnancy and discuss how it affects the mental health of an adolescent
motherin New Zealand. This essay will commence by identifying how a lack of
education is considered as a socioeconomic factor associated with teenage pregnancy,
followed by the second theme which will consist of economic circumstances such as,
parental unemployment and welfare dependency. Lastly, this essay will discuss how
deficiency of support from familyand friends leads to unstable relationships, which
has a huge impact on a teenage mother s mental health. A lack of education is one of
the main socioeconomic factors which impact the mental health of an adolescent
mother. Studies show a number of negative outcomes that are linked with dropping
out of school at an early age. For example, youth that tends to gain fewer educational
qualifications are more likely to be in unstable relationships resulting in a lack of
knowledge regarding contraceptive use which leaves them to deal with economic
circumstances (Breheny Stephens, 2008; Friesen, Woodward, Fergusson, Horwood,
Can Money Buy Happiness Essay
Can money buy everything, including money?
Some people think that money can buy everything. Does that include happiness? Can
money really buy happiness? Different people have different opinion about this as
well as the definition of happiness that varies through people. According to the
dictionary, happiness is the state of being happy. Happiness is not just a state of mind
but it is a state of emotion. Martin Seligman, the father of positive psychology,
theorises that while 60% of happiness is determined by our genetics and
environments, the remaining 40 % is up to us. Psychologists have researched that
when you are happy, certain hormones are release. The feelings we experience are
nothing more than chemical reactions taking place in our body. So do you think
money can be used to make this reaction happen? Can money really buy happiness?

Stakeholder Analysis And Corporate Social Responsibility
Stakeholder analysis is an integral part of what determines a business success.
Within every business, there are various stakeholder groups that have individual
specific needs. Each stakeholder group has to be consistently considered by the
company when it makes decisions. Over the course of five weeks, students made
decisions to help guide K Tai, Inc. with its stakeholder analysis and corporate social
responsibility (CSR) efforts. Several conflicting decisions were considered and a
thorough analysis helped the CREO office come up with the best possible solutions
to the company s problems. The CSR simulation was an excellent tool to help
students understand the importance of ethicsin business and how to address the
common issues that businesses face in today s society.
One of the key stakeholder groups in businesses is the customer base. Companies
are responsible for the safety and well being of their customers when their product or
service is in use. Therefore, customers heavily influence companies and their decision
making processes. During the fourth year at K Tai, it was evident that consumers
faced an eminent danger with their smart phones. Individuals who use their smart
phone while driving have been causing more accidents than ever because of the
various distractions the phone offers. In order to prevent customers from
continuously being put in harm s way, the decision was made to advise K Tai to
initiate an industry wide standards body which focused on

How The Underrepresentation Of English Language

As the population of English Language Learners , otherwise known as ELLs, has
been increasing over the past few decades, so has their disproportionate
representation in special education. Too many of our ELLs are often
disproportionately placed in special education programs, which may be considered a
challenge faced by both general and special educators. But what about the
underrepresentation of ELLs in the gifted and talented programs? It seems as though
general educators struggle to provide these students with sufficient educational
experiences. High potential ELLs can be very successful in any academic setting as
long as their educators provide them with appropriate strategies and tools so they can
learn content and the English languagesimultaneously. The information provided in
this paper is to inform educators what they need to know and specific strategies and
tools that can be used in educating high potential ELLs. The federal definition of
learners with gifts and talents is,

Essay about Sociological Perspectives of the Film Erin...
In the film Erin Brockovich, several different social theories can be related to the
storyline of the film. Although different, theories from Karl Marx, Emile
Durkheim, and Max Weber can all adequately describe what happens in the film.
The film is about a small law firm that takes on an extremely powerful organization,
PG amp; E (Pacific Gas amp; Electric), on the account that they were knowingly
polluting Hinkley, California s water supply and harming the citizens. From Karl
Marx, the film can be explained through his base superstructure model of society,
with PG amp; E serving as the powerful base, and the rest of society in Hinkley, CA
serving as the superstructure. From Emile Durkheim, this movie can be portrayed
through his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Marx s base superstructure model, he also uses English factor acts as an
example of the powerful avoiding the law. In this example, the English passed
laws in an attempt to improve working conditions for factory workers. However,
Marx argued that the workers still lost, because the capitalists avoided these
regulations and as a result of the factory acts the worker s days actually became
much worse. This example also relates to the film in the way that PG amp; E
appears to care of Hinkley s population, yet leaving them with lethal diseases. When
many of Hinkley s citizens start getting sick, PG amp; E appears to save the day by
paying for doctor visits for many families. However, while these families did not
have to pay for the initial doctor visits, they were being lied to by doctors paid off
by PG amp; E. While it appeared that PG amp; E was helping them they were in
turn worse off because they became more and more sick and left with massive
medical bills that PG amp; E claimed not to be responsible for. So just as in the
factory acts, the citizens still lost. PG amp; E avoided regulation because they were
more powerful than the government itself. The film relates to Emile Durkheim s
evolutionary theory in the ways that Erin and the rest of the society in the film
evolved throughout the movie just as in Durkheim s theory. My analysis will focus
mainly on Erin, because
Effects Of Cellphones On Society And Environment
In a world and culture where most people own a cellphone and are obsessed of
using them, it is almost impossible to neglect to point out the harmful effects of too
much usage of this technology. Cellphones made today certainly has much to offer,
and without a doubt is a great innovation. But when it comes to relying on them it
can certainly affect us and what is surrounding us negatively. Today, cellphones are
one of the major part of our society. We always see someone texting or making a

Gun Culture In America
Behind the surface of America s gun culture exists a grim and simple truth: There is
no protector; there is no guardian; there is no defender except oneself (Donovan). In
the United States guns are constantly being misunderstood or feared because people
are either purely just against guns or they are ignorant. Many statistics that circulate
through the media are very one sided, showing only the dark side of guns and their
potential. Americans opinions on guns are always changing. The leftists are usually
against guns and want them to be taken away. However they can t take away our
guns because it would be unconstitutional. Guns should be appreciated for how
powerful these items are and not to be banned or misused. Guns have a bad reputation

As said guns were historically used to gather food, for sport and to protect ourselves.
Criminals use firearms to assert their authority over those they believe lesser than
them. It makes them feel more powerful than others. Another example of people
using guns for bad would be school shootings. Why are guns the problem when
people are using them for unintended reasons? For example in a DUI/DWI we
blame the driver of the vehicle, in a bombing we blame the bomber or bomb maker,
but when a shooting happens we blame the gun. People see school shootings all over
media and immediately jump to the conclusion that guns are the reason this is
happening. What they don t even think about is, maybe this is a mental health issue.
You can leave a firearmon the porch of your home before you go to work, and when
you get home that gun will still be sitting on your porch and no one will be dead.
This is because guns don t kill people and they don t make you aggressive or want
to kill people. Guns don t have feelings they don t care whether you shoot through
human flesh or a hay target. They will not feel remorse because they don t have
emotions. They can t change your personality or make you kill
Negative Effects Of Ballet
Each year, people who participate in sports are susceptible to serious injuries.
Though ballet may be a form of art, others consider it to be a sport in which many
dancers also experience serious harms. In correspondence to different sports, ballet
involves challenging skills and constant motions that lead to many types of injuries.
The injuries that occur to ballet dancers can create long term and short term impacts
in their lives. Some impacts it may have on dancers include: stress, eating disorders,

for their students that could benefit them to perfecting their performance. In some
cases, dancers who overdo their trainings and practices are the ones at risk of
injuries. The author, Anna Aalten in In the Presence of the Body: Theorizing
Training, Injuries, and Pain in Ballet , shares her experience when she
[discovered] that pushing her legs until they really hurt would bring her closer to
the desired ideal (61). The idea of perfecting a skill or technique by any dancers
can lead them to overlook any pain they are feeling which can later affect their
body and performance in the long run. Studies show that stress is a consequence of
the environment in which dancers practice ballet everyday, which is a world of no
pain, no gain that is characterized by perfectionism and competition (Yatabe et al.

on dancers due to perfectionism if instructors do not cut down with their excessive
trainings. Ballet dancers who demand their selves to perfect a skill or technique can
be due to their desire of having the ideal body image. Ballet dancers striving for their
ideal body image can lead them to having many stress

right to a jury trial, which in the United states are protected by the bill of rights

In the present chapter the radius for a given resonant frequency of a centre feed
circular microstrip patch antenna has been analysed using two layer neural network
structures FFBP ANN model. The Levenberg Marquardt training algorithm and the
transfer function tansig have been used to implement the neural network model. The
simulated values for training and testing the neural network model are obtained by
analysing the circular microstrip patch antenna using CST Microwave Studio
Software (CST MWS). The results obtained using ANNs are compared with the
simulation findings and found ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Figure 3.1 shows the training performance graph that indicates the best validation
performance and number of epochs required to achieve the minimum mean square
error level. The number of epochs required for training the aforesaid neural network
to achieve mean square error (MSE) is 668. The training time is 3 seconds and the
training algorithm used in the analysis model is Levenberg Marquardt training

The network is tested for 10 patterns and the table 3.1 shows the comparison of
results of CST and FFBP ANN with 5 neurons for radius with the variation of the
resonant frequency of the circular patch microstrip antenna computing MSE function

Pit And The Pendulum
The Pit and the Pendulum is a short story narrative told by a condemned prisoner
during the period of the Spanish Inquisitions. The story takes place in Toledo, Spain
and begins with the prisoner describing a delirious state in which he sees robed
judges presiding over his sentencing. Prior to the pronounced judgment, he is
overtaken by fear and faints. The story continues in vivid detail, as the prisoner
describes over a period of days, through lingering periods of consciousness, his
torturous entrapment.
As the narrative moves forward, the prisoner assumes he s been sentenced to death.
He awakens alone, in absolute blackness, for which he questions whether he is dead
or alive. His thoughts pirouette between abject terror and self imagined ... Show more

While examining the tight quarters of his cold and damp surroundings, he feels
piercing eyes fixed upon him. Horror fills his body as he gazes upon large rats
entering and exiting the pit of death. He realizes he is in the same dungeon, but it
is much smaller than he had envisioned. As his eyes slowly adjust to the brightness
of the lights, he becomes aware of a noise above him. Almost immediately, his eyes
catch glimpse of the movement of a pendulum. Entranced and enthralled by its
animated rhythm, he watches in both terror and delight as it swings backwards
and forwards. This fascination soon turns to fear as the prisoner realizes a scimitar
is attached to the bottom of the pendulum. A maniacal terror slowly creeps into his
thoughts as he imagines the sounds of the blade first slicing into his robe and then
tearing apart his flesh. Time drags by. He and the rats feast on pungently seasoned
meat. The scimitar swings closer and closer, his death certain, when an idea occurs
to him. With only seconds to spare before the sharp blade devours him, he quickly
rubs the meat on the bandages binding his hands and feet. The smell attracts the rats
who rush in and chew the bandages lose. He slides off the wood plank only seconds
before his skin is perforated. Euphoria fills him at his victory over the pendulum of
General Liability Insurance Essay
Drones and Your General Liability Insurance
Drones. Once thought to be years away, are increasing in number. From cutting edge
real estate tours to crop surveillance, many businesses are investing in drones to assist
with day to day operations. Drones offer business owners a real competitive
advantage within their industry.
The Benefits of Having a Drone
More and more operating a business is becoming increasingly challenging. Fewer
barriers to entry make earning more money harder each day. With increased
competition, many businesses are forced to reduce costs in every aspect of their
business. Many businesses find that drones are a great way for them to be
competitive, without adding an annual salary to their books. Drones are also capable

While in use, drones can cause accidents and injuries, exposing your business to
potential liabilities. For instance, a drone taking surveillance pictures could fall from
the sky and strike someone in the head down below. Without the proper general
liability insurance, how would your business cover the costs of the damages?
General Liability Insurance and Drones
There are many forms of business insurance. Whether you need insurance for a car or
for your business property, you won t have trouble finding an insurance solution that
is perfect for you. Although drones are new technology, and many insurance
companies may not have a tailor made insurance product specifically for drones,
general liability insurance may help you with liability issues involving drones.
Loosely speaking, general liability insurance helps businesses cover the costs when
management or employees are found liable for an act that caused another to be
harmed. A business drone that injures someone while being used for commercial
purposes may help you cover court and settlement costs.
If you are considering using a drone in your business, contact your licensed insurance
representative to inquire about insurance coverage. Just like cars, accidents stemming
from the use of this technology can create a legal nightmare that costs you
handsomely. Fortunately, you can minimize your exposure by partnering with an
insurance agent who provides general liability insurance.
Drones are all the rage, but you must ensure that your business isn t exposed to
liability risks from using your

Apple iPhone 4 8GB vs Samsung Galaxy S2
Build amp; Design
When it comes to design, the iPhone 4S takes the prize. It s small, beautiful and
everyone knows exactly what kind of phone you have when you pull it out. The
Galaxy S II devices aren t exactly ugly, but they aren t exactly head turners either,
suffering from a me too design sensibility of all black devices without any real flair.
Both the Apple and the Samsung handsets are dominated by large displays that cover
the front of the device. They also have the same basic button and port layout, though
the buttons on the iPhone 4S are slightly larger and easier to operate.
The Winner
While there are advantages and disadvantages to each device, there isn t a clear cut
winner for this comparison. The iPhone 4S wins when it comes to design appeal,
portability, screen resolution, and maximum memory capacity, but the screen is
smaller than the Galaxy S II devices, and it doesn t support memory expansion cards.
The Galaxy S II devices have larger screens and a larger footprint, but they include

Cambodia Genocide Essay
The Cambodian Genocide was the result of imperialism, ethnic supremacy, ultra
nationalism, anti colonialism, a power grab, and religion. It began with the
Cambodian people struggling against French colonization and grew in inspiration
from Vietnam (end genocide). The French believed that Cambodia was a gateway
into China to expand their trade with Southeast Asia. The French occupied southern
Vietnamand wanted to expand their territory. There were many civil wars and
invasions in Cambodiafought between the Vietnamese and Thai, and it greatly
affected Cambodia. While the French did help Cambodia become independent and
grew their infrastructure, while exploiting Cambodian labor, they failed to educate
Cambodian people and establish a solid and effective judiciary system (Cambodia
tribunal). Thus began their feelings of anti colonialism. During the Vietnam War, the
U.S. used Cambodia as a base to regroup, but also bombed the country to kill
suspected Viet Cong targets. This began their feelings of imperialism and ultra
nationalism. The Khmer Rougebegan feeling great animosity towards the West for
their influenced corruption to Cambodian land and its people. Between January and
August of 1973, 300,000 Cambodians were killed by American bombers that had
joined forces with Lon Nol, head of the Khmer Republic. The killing of so many
Cambodian people fueled the Khmer Rouge to begin a power grab, where they
staged a coup to take control of the government. They succeeded and

during the class activities teachers are not the center, they let the students discover

Marketing Plan For Fast Food Industry
America has been encountering many different types of cultures since it was first
founded. These distinct types of cultures lead to the development of various types of
food options. Since the last three decades of the twentieth century, fast food
productions stood out to be the top meal choice. The reason for this expansion of
encounters with fast foodhas to deal with the American desire to gain more material
wealthand become more prosperous which is crucial when the nation is in an
economic depression. Americans expanded their encounters with fast foods to help
the nation acquire the wealth that it desperately needs by means of franchising,
advertising, and processing of food.
A strategy that the Americans use when they seek to get out of this economic
depression is Franchising. Franchising became the top choice that America has went
to because of its vast potential in money making. Franchising acquired its popularity
by establishing a common method of service which gave customers the comfort that
they look for when they look for a meal. The mother company surveys its baby

Communication is an essential tool needed to advance several major processes in
society. According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, communication is the act or
process of using words, sounds, songs, or behaviors to express your ideas, thoughts,
and feelings to someone else. Such interaction between human being is significant
due to the innate fact that we as humans are social beings. Communicationnot only
aids human beings in expressing ideologies, but in everyday duties such as
education, work, medical care, and other key aspects. A lack of communication is
dangerous in many circumstances. In two essays, When Doctors Make Mistakes , by
Atul Gawande, and Columbia s Last Flight, by William Langewiesche the reader can
perceive how a lack of communication can be lethal.
In the medical field, precision is of the utmost importance when it comes to
successfully ensuring that the job is done. Even the slightest mistake can be lethal,
making communication vital in the medical field. A group of doctors and nurses
must communicate and act like a single unit to complete the procedure. In When
Doctors Make Mistake , the author, Atul Gawande, recalls a case where his team
worked on a specific crash victim and the breathing tube could not fit in the trachea.
Due to a lack of communication, one of the staff members tried to force the tube
down the trachea causing more damage. In the essay, Gawande assesses the situation
and agrees with his team to bring in a specialist to solve the
Lincoln On Leadership Analysis
Over the years I have been fortunate enough to attend several leadership courses.
Some were really helpful and caused me to relook at the way I do things, while
others were only marginal. In one way or another, they were all built around
influencing others to get the mission completed. Prior to reading Lincoln On
Leadershipby Donald T. Phillips I had never realized what a truly an amazing leader
Lincoln was. Phillips explorers Lincoln s life through his anecdotes and his
leadership style that no other leaders have been able to match. Lincoln was a leader

him. A couple of months into his time as acting commander one of my officers went

needing help. The officer was having some issues at home and wanted Josh s

The Male Gaze Analysis
The Power of the Male Gaze
In patriarchal society, the male gaze serves as a reminder of the shortcomings and
inadequacy of the female sex. The male gaze as seen in Edith Wharton s House of
Mirth functions as an objective measurement of a woman s worth and a catalyst for
Lily s downfall. Lily internalizes notions of the male gaze and attempts to emulate the
ideal feminine archetype. However, the fragility of her social standing is exposed due
to the overwhelming influence of the male gaze.
In The Patriarchal Gaze , Nancy Brannon claims that The camera, not just cinematic

society at large. It is in this light that the camera can be considered an instrument ...

As a woman in her society, Lily s choices for marriage are limited as she claims,
Ah, there s the difference a girl must, a man may if he chooses (Wharton). This
illustrates the stark contrast between the standards set in society for men and
women. A man may if he chooses, meaning that if a man chooses not to marry, his
reputation does not suffer. If a girl does not marry, the implication is that she is an
unsuitable partner and is unfit for society. Marriage in 19th century society is a
rite of passage to becoming the ideal woman and without marital status, reputation
suffers. Lily s downfall from society is marked as Simon Rosedale rejects her
marriage proposal by saying, I won t go into what s happened. I don t believe the
stories about you I don t WANT to believe them. But they re there, and my not
believing them ain t going to alter the situation (Wharton). Regardless of the fact that
Rosedale doesn t believe the stories, the stories still exist and continue to circulate
throughout their social group. Even though Rosedale understands that the rumors are

22 years, has boosted ticket prices at an exponential rate. Through the use of
economic concepts and the book Cocktail Party Economics, the change in prices can
be explained further in depth.
While any Blue Jays enthusiast could tell that the price boost is due to the increase
in the team s popularity, one with a working knowledge of economics could explain
that the price increase is a factor of scarcity, demand equilibrium.
Scarcity, simply put, is the underlying reason why economics and markets exist: the
fact that there is not enough of a good for everyone who wants one to have one. In

There is a limited number of seats in a stadium, and thus there is a limit to the
number of tickets to sell, resulting in only the most dedicated and faithful fans paying
large prices to see the playoff games.
After the Jays improved performance in the regular season and the increased
popularity of the team, it would be easy to simply say that playoff tickets are in
higher demand. However, we must turn to economics to explain why demand has
increased. Demand refers to how much of a good the market will buy at any given
price. For this reason, it is important to understand that price changes, whether they be
increasing or decreasing, do not change demand В they change the quantity
demanded. During the first half of the baseball season, the Blue Jays had a worse
record and were not expected to be in the playoff team for that simple reason that
they rarely sold out their games, despite the tickets being at a lower price point than
present. However, today tickets sell out mere hours after being put to market as
consumer preferences changed in favour of the team. Cocktail Party Economics gives

affects the characters around him through the use of direct and indirect
characterization. When Steinbeck reveals that George was small and quick, dark of
face, with restless eyes and sharp, strong features, he describes George with rich
details that visually represents his physical looks and the contrast to his best friend,

Steinbeck indirectly characterizes George as an uneducated man through the fact
that George and Lennie say words like ain t and di n t, the use of low level diction,
and the dialect language in the novella. Throughout the novella, even though George

1.0 Introduction: The country of Cameroon is considered a third world country and
the production and quality of energy matches this view. Rural Cameroon
experiences many black outs and is in constant need of more energy for the
population to perform basic tasks such as cooking with greater ease and with a
higher knowledge of hygiene. The main issue is the quality of the generated power;
this is a result of the method of production and transportation of the power.
The government s priorities are another term to address as the main focus is on
abolishing poverty. This is a good goal, however the emphasis should be placed
elsewhere for the start of maximum growth. So there is a primary need for engineers
to communicate how energy production can shape their society. So a choice needs to
be made in terms of energy production that has maximal social and environmental
bonuses.

The Power and Influence of The Sendero Luminoso
The Sendero Luminoso The terrorist group, Sendero Luminoso, also known as the
Shining Path, originates out of the country of Peru. Abimael Guzman, a former
university professor, formed the group in the late 1960s. Guzman follows the
philosophy of blood is necessary to irrigate the revolution (Collyns). During this
time the Sendero Luminoso became one of the most merciless terrorist groups in the
Western Hemisphere (Pike). The Sendero Luminoso is considered to be a highly
organized political party. The party s powerful voice of protest allows its support to
continue to grow. The exact number of members in the group is unknown, but is
estimated to be up to 300 (Pike). The Sendero Luminoso was not the largest group in
numbers until it reached its peak in power, which numbered in the thousand. The
Shining Pathuses the lack of governmental influence to its advantage to gain support
of those who do not support the Peruvian government. With no allies, the party gained
its members and support by influencing rural areas of Peruthat had been neglected by
the Peruvian government (Gregory).
The Sendero Luminoso acted upon their beliefs and their plans to reach their goals.
They used tactics from an ideological perspective, but also from a vantage point of a
psychological perspective. They had the desire to bring down the Peruvian
government and to create an establishment of their own under the rule of their leader.
On the ideological side of their tactics they had

researchers observe the relationship between self efficacy, behavioral process of
change and alcoholism. Self efficacy is one s belief that they will be able to
succeed in specific situations. According to the study, they found that only 14.6%
of Americans with an alcohol problem have sought treatment. The article states
that self efficacy has been studied as a predictor of relapse for alcoholics. They saw
a direct correlation between alcohol abstinence and high self efficacy. There is not
much information of the relation between self efficacy and the behavior process
of change. However, researchers have made hypotheses relating self efficacy to
general coping. It has been shown that successful coping leads to a higher self
efficacy as well. It is important to know that alcohol is a poor way of coping with
problems. The research that was conducted was unbiased and looked at real results
of how long people were able to stay away from alcohol, as well as psychological
evaluations of their emotional state. Each of the participants of the study were
evaluated and their self efficacy was evaluated as either positive or negative. The

Multiple Independent Levels Of Security Architecture
Another security measure is the implementation of the Multiple Independent Levels
of Security Architecture (MILS). The MILS model is best used for high assurance
systems as the structure of the model has stringent access controls and work flows
which a regulated by a microprocessor. This model is simpler than others but offers
tighter security. The MILS model is broken down into four components: A Separation
Kernel, Middleware, Applications and a Partitioning Communications System. This
structure is similar to other security models as they can have a security kernel which
regulates drivers and applications. The aspects that separate the MILS model are its
security policies and the way in which they are implemented. (OIS) Unlike the...

The Middleware is responsible for ensuring information sent out is properly defined
labeled, filtering and damaging messages and ensuring the information flow
restrictions are followed and remain intact. This level also contains device drivers,
file systems POSIX which are traditionally located in the kernel of other security
models (OIS, 2015). According to Objective Interface Systems, the Application
Layer is responsible for enforcing application layer security policies (2015). These
security polies can include encryption protection firewalls, and/or IDS settings. This
layer is located on top of the middle layer. This layer is unique as the applications
security can be evaluated on its own aside from the security of the entire system
(Xining Yameng, 2012). The forth component of the system is the Partitioning
Communication System (PCS). This component works in conjunction with the
Middleware Layer and controls the interaction between the different MILS sections.
The PCS provides end to end protection to the sections on the network not directly
connected to the MILS. It assists with security for the information flow, data
isolation. Periods processing and damage limitation (OIS, 2015).
Advantages of MILS
The MILS model has several advantages. The primary advantage to MILS is rooted
in the system s design. The MILS model was designed for security thus making the

Analysis Of The Thing In The Forest By A. S. Byatt
First off we have The Thing in the Forest by A.S. Byatt, the author used many
components for a short story to make a cynical tale that creates an incredible
sensation of curiosity from the reader. In this story we have two girls who form a
friendship in this time of war as they are being evacuated from war zones. These two
protagonist are allowed access to the world with only a curfew, where shortly after
these two adventures set afoot in a mysterious forest do they encounter the Thing, a
creature that could only be created from the darkest depths of the sub conscience that
will haunt these girls till the end of all days. Byatt shows the darkness of war with
the journey of these girl y using very in depth imagery, historical/war setting, and
character development.
This story gives its audience incredible imagery, and allusions. Which are good for
the very fairytale feel of the story. It starts off with a train full of children, none of
which no where they are going. Soon after they make it and are released we
encounter a new character named Alys. I found she had a larger part of the story
than the amount of text dedicated. She resembled innocence. Now that she was there
we have a theme of losing innocence in the story. The forest with the Thing inside
represents the time of war and destructiveness it ring in the lives that happen on it.
They gave a little bit of insight on the movement of it by stating, They give the
strange impression of moving in in waves from
Essay On Bank Of America
In the SWOT analysis for Bank of America one I performed a SWOT analysis for
the Bank of America. I assumed the role of a mutual fund manager work for First
Investment Inc Investment Inc. With the information I gathered in part one of my
paper I made the decision to invest in Bank of America. In part two of these papers I
will further explain why I chose to invest in Bank of America. This paper will address
the financial health of Bank of America by reviewing the banks income statement,
balance sheet, and cash flow (MGT/521 course syllabus). I will also analyze Bank
of America s financial health and compare it against another bank. After I do the
comparison I will compare Bank of America technological advantages, or address any

Clearly Kenneth Lewis did do his homework on Countrywide Financial. Kenneth
Lewis knew the financial state of Countrywide Financial and failed to relay the
messages to the other stakeholder in the company.
If I were put in the same situation as Kenneth Lewis I would hire someone who is
knowledgeable on how to conduct a SWOT on a business before a purchase. I
would share the outcome of the SWOT with the stakeholders and I would hire
someone to do a background and market analysis on Countrywide Financial. The
reason the stock is tanking is because the market does not believe Bank of America
s assets are worth what they say they are worth (Henry Blodget 2011). First
Investment Inc believes that the main reason is Bank of America s failed to do the
proper outlook investment analyses.
Bank of America s management should have conducted future analyses on where the
business is today and where what the future holds. The managers at Bank of
America should review the banks financial situation. Bank of America should have
first looked at what their competitors were doing and the state of the economy. Bank
of America should have should have taken the time to analyze the mortgage and real
estate brokers, by not analyze the mortgage and real estate brokers people purchase
property that they couldn t afford. The price of houses declined in 2006 this caused

Ralph Waldo Emerson And Thoreau
Can you name poets that were clear examples of Bright Romanticism? A form of
poetry that has an optimistic outlook. It stress an importance of nature. That has a
valued a feeling over reason. A following of the heart rather than the mind. Also the
setting apart from society. There are two who comes to mind; Thoreau and Emerson.
Where Emerson and Thoreau were clear examples of Bright Romanticism
exemplified by the inclusion of nature, a positive view of mankind, and a poetic style
that broke traditional method. Ralph Waldo Emersonexemplified him being a clear
examples of Bright Romanticism with his first inclusion of nature. An excerpt talking
about the author about this manner can found in Cliff Notes under the... Show more

Next you will see how Thoreau and Emerson are clear examples of Bright
Romanticism. The inclusion of positive view of mankind that is part of Bright
Romantic poets can be found in both Emerson and Thoreau. To start off would be
Ralph Waldo Emerson. A author that echoes my statement can be found in
Guidepost written by Ptolemy Tompkins titled under The Original Positive Thinker
Ralph Waldo Emerson. America s original positive thinker, Emerson was a tireless
promoter of the basic transcendentalist idea that human beings are larger infinitely
larger than they think they are. A man, he wrote, is the facade of a temple wherein
all wisdom and all good abide. What we need to do is overcome the self imposed
habits of thought that prevent us from fully realizing this potential. Or as Emerson
put it, The only sin is limitation. Emerson showed his positive view of mankind
through his ideas of anything can be change. Where nothing is impossible where you
can transcend through anything and become more. Another source of information is
found in his most famous book self reliance a book the embodies the title but a quote
that can exemplify his thoughts and writers are Be yourself; no base imitator of
another, but your best self. There is something which you can do better than another.
Listen to the inward voice and bravely obey that.
Individuality In Herman Melville s Billy Budd
Herman Melville s Billy Budd, Sailor is a story that demonstrates one mans
struggle between the moral and social obligation posed upon him. Billy Budd an
innocent young sailor who was forced to join the kings navy. Growing up on the
Rights of Man Billy Budd only knew how to have his own social identity because
of it immediately after joining Bellipotent one of the ship s master at arms, John
Claggart, someone who has no independent social identity, dislikes Billy. Billy
being an ignorant young sailor doesn t realize this and is ultimately by the end at the
whim of Captain Vere, a man who s own identity is completely controlled by society.
In the story, Captain Vere is in conflict with his individual moral perspective versus
society s expectations of him... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of the individual vs society is used in the story to demonstrate how society
forces people to confine their individuality for what is deemed as the greater good.
Captain Vere s actions in dealing with Billy Buddshows that in society one must
separate their individual needs and feelings for the obligations that society forces
upon them. Feeling pressure from mutiny knowing that Billy Budd is a good man
he sets aside his feelings for him for his responsibilities as a captain. Davis states,
Unfortunately, there is no consensus of opinion on how to interpret either Billy s
fate or Captain Vere s decision... Many critics are certain that Melville endorsed,
and intended for the reader to endorse, Vere s verdict as unfortunate, even tragic,
yet necessary (Davis 173). As Davis stated Captain Vere s decision was awful, he
knew what he was doing was wrong and immoral, but as captain of the ship he has
no choice. In times of war according to society it is absolutely necessary for a man
of Vere s stature to to show strength, strength shown through fear or power, otherwise
the men will lose hope and chaos will ensue.
Robert Frost Research Paper
Robert Frost was an American poet who was known for his realistic depictions of
rural life. Robert Frost was born in San Francisco, California, to journalist William

known for being a hard drinking, pistol carrying, unsophisticated journalist.
Isabelle Moodie, his mother, suffered from depression. Both of his parents were
teachers so he was exposed to reading and writing at an early age. Frost spent only
a few years of his life in California until he moved with his father. Later, his father

him to finish college. Frost then attended Harvard to fulfill her wishes. When he

Nicki Minj Hyperbole
Onika Tanya Maraj, better known as Nicki Minaj, created a song called The
Crying Game to tell a significant part of her life. She s been in a relationship with
safaree Daniels for 10+ years and they ended their relationship shorthanded because
of her long time heart break. Once Minaj became famous she started to realize that
the man she knew treated her differently and started to become distance. Minaj uses
the singer, Jessie Ware, to create a smooth transition to the climax of the song to let
the people know the song makes her miserable. Nicki Minajis known for her use of
rhymes, significant bars and hyperbole. Nicki Minaj and Jessie Ware uses The
Crying Game to describe the after math of a relationship that ended badly.
As the song starts you hear a piano play soft and slow letting you know that is song
will be a gentle moving ballet. Once the beat drops you hear the first line, Here we go
again, and it s the game we love. As you can see she uses a form of consonance with

that they wanted to take their relationship to the next level with a symbol of doves
which means love and happiness. Minaj ends her 1st verse by murmuring, You
was just telling your mans that you hate the clubs; now we in the crying game
heart laced with slugs. She s basically saying that they were at a point that they felt
as if it was no need to go clubbing when they had each other until they broke up and
entering the crying game with their hearts broken or lace with slugs. Minaj uses a
form of rhyme again with clubs and slugs. Slugs would be another word for bullets
and their heart broken means it has been
Reflection Of The Learning Experience In Preparation For...
CW1: Reflection on previous learning experiences in preparation for Higher
Education
This essay discusses the journey of my previous educational experiences, lessons
learned from the past and further reflections on how to approach future challenges
and expectations of a university course. Altbach, P. G., Gumport, P. J. Berdahl, R. O.
(Eds.). (2011) explained that higher education always brings considerable challenges
for new students in becoming knowledgeable and triumph over the barriers that may
impact on learning. University course requires a student to be self motivated,
challenging, capable, concerned, active, energetic and vibrant. Maintaining the
balance in learning and nourishing in university is the beginning of the journey of a
new student in higher education.
My journey into higher education began when I was inspired by my previous
education and supportive tutors. My previous education enabled me to recognise as a
student the importance of investing passion and time in gaining knowledge and
developing future, which was the mechanism to initiate the journey to return this
specific confidence and guidance within higher education. My previous educational
experiences enhanced various capabilities within myself such as: learning, supporting
other students, research involvement, gaining maximum knowledge and maintaining
practice. Initially, I found it quite difficult to absorb knowledge and be competent in
all aspects while also adjusting to academic environment.

When I First Started Online, I Started On Blogger.Com
When I first started online, I started on blogger.com also called Blogger or BlogSpot.
What drew me to it? It was a great way to start a free blog and at the time that was all
I needed to know. My experience with Blogger helped me figure out if I enjoyed
blogging and which direction I wanted to take with my blogging.
If you are not sure if you want to be a blogger or make money from blogging, then
skip the costs of buying a domain and hosting and start up a free blog on Blogger to
give blogging a test run. Yes, it s true you have more freedom to do what you want
when paying for a self hosted blog, but blogging for free helps you to learn the ins
and outs of blogging and ensures you don t waste money on something you may not

3. Automatic Spam Detection
You don t have to worry about spam when you are on Blogger. They have an
automatic spam checker, and it is really good at catching all those nonsense spam
comments that people leave.
Spam comments are solely written for the purpose of trying to get you or your
readers to click out to a site or product. They are usually full of nonsense. You may
not get a ton at first, but you will find that you get more and more of them as your
blog starts to gain popularity.
4. People Will Find Your Blog Quicker (And Vice Versa)
I find that on Blogger, there seems to be a community of people that can easily find
your blog.
Normally for people to find your blog, you need to rank in the search engines or get
social on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, or Twitter, and get people to talk about
your blog. But, on Blogger, I ve found that people find your site easier through the
blogger.com network.
You can also find other people who blog about similar interests by going into your
profile and clicking on the industry, occupation, location or any other keywords that
you that you have chosen. (Learn more about that here.)

  • 1. Kindness Essay Crafting an essay on the theme of kindness might seem deceptively simple, as the subject itself is warm and inviting. However, delving into the intricacies of kindness and presenting a thoughtful, engaging piece can be more challenging than anticipated. The difficulty lies in striking a balance between conveying the essence of kindness and avoiding clichГ©s or superficial expressions. It's easy to fall into the trap of using generic statements without exploring the depth and various dimensions of kindness. Additionally, finding a unique angle or perspective that captures the reader's attention while staying true to the theme can be a complex task. Moreover, defining kindness can be a subjective endeavor, as it encompasses a wide range of gestures, emotions, and behaviors. The challenge lies in presenting a comprehensive view that goes beyond the surface, exploring the psychological, societal, and personal aspects of kindness. One must navigate the complexities of human nature and society to offer a nuanced and insightful analysis. The writing process involves not only expressing personal views on kindness but also incorporating relevant examples, anecdotes, or research findings to substantiate the arguments. This requires thorough research and critical thinking skills, adding another layer of complexity to the task. Furthermore, maintaining a cohesive structure and ensuring a smooth flow of ideas is crucial. Transitioning seamlessly between different aspects of kindness, be it in relationships, communities, or global contexts, demands a careful balance to keep the essay engaging and coherent. In conclusion, while the topic of kindness may initially seem straightforward, the process of crafting an essay on this theme is, in reality, a challenging endeavor. It necessitates a deep exploration of the subject, careful consideration of diverse perspectives, and skillful expression to create a compelling and thought-provoking piece. If you find yourself struggling with such essays or any other writing tasks, you might consider seeking assistance. Although these two fast food restaurants share some similarities, there are many differences most of which lie in price and quality. However, they are both very popular places that people go for burgers and fries. Kids like simple food and these two places offer that. • 3. Team Process Of A Team Team Process: When becoming a part of a team, at the beginning of this semester, I never imagined how much teamwork and communication was needed to get even an entry level project done in a team. One of the best traits of my team was our excellent use of coordination. Coordination helped us stay organized, as well as made each team member more effective. We never missed a team meeting, and always completed our assigned work on time. The Gantt chart we created towards the beginning of our project, helped each member stay organized, so no one member took on a larger share of work than assigned to. As well as staying organized, we worked well as a team, and I believe we all respected each others abilities to complete our own tasks. The reason we were able to function so well, was because only the facilitator had the desire to lead. There were no power struggle and confrontations. There were never conflicting ideas in the team, we all accepted what we had to do and let one person take charge. However, that doesn t mean, we didn t put in a lot work. We worked hard to complete our project; it only shows that we were able to work well, when given the task of turning design ideas into reality. As an engineer, you will not have total freedom of concept, design and build. You might have one task, or many, but there could be many people working on a project and you will have to build according to someone else s specifications and design. To engage all team members, we made sure
  • 4. Interrogation And Discourse Analysis The evolution of definitions used in international and domestic communities is critical to acknowledging modernization and willingness to act fairly. Although the Justice Department authorized questionable techniques used for intelligence collection and CIA agents ensured that professionals were present during interrogation sessions, a strong question of ethics used and how this was viewed in relation to crimes against human rightsduring the interrogation sessions has persisted for years as unanswerable. After extensive research for the final definitions decided upon for this paper, the lack of international and national consensus on multiple topics, even down to definitions, was obvious. After deciding what documents to use, one must conduct a reading or skimming and note taking of the documents, which includes: initial thoughts on a codebook structure; how the documents are organized; major and minor actors; the variables and independent variables; inputs and outputs; any logistical or background information relevant to the environment or actor; and potential biases. After the first read through, one can construct a codebook to instruct the sequence of analysis. A codebook generally includes a classification for actors, which can indicate the actor s level of government, associated profession, region of occupancy, etc. It also provides topics that were mentioned throughout the documents; some discourse analysts prefer to code a primary and secondary topic, whereas others may prefer to code all topics mentioned for more conclusive findings. Author Tuen van Dijk describes the considerations within discourse
  • 5. King Joseph II, The Enlightened Despot Joseph II, the Enlightened Despot When Maria Theresa Empress of Austria (1717 1780) died, her son, Joseph II, became the absolute ruler and enacted all reforms which he wanted to fulfil, and which opposed those of his mother. Greatly influenced by the Enlightenment ideals of freedom and equality, his ideas of abolishing serfdom, carrying out the reforms of religious toleration, and promoting welfare for the people best reflected the Enlightenment ideals. In the political order of the Holy Roman Empire, neither freedom, religion, nor religious equality were granted. After his coronation, Joseph set reforms which notably included important steps towards serf liberation and, most strikingly, increased religious tolerance for most non Catholics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The welfare of the people was of considerable concern to him, and, being a well intentioned and earnest despot, Joseph II led them to their good by raising funds, founding orphanages, maternity hospitals and various institutions. His policies contributed to their welfare by freeing them from the superstitions and prejudices of the past through exposure to enlightened doctrines (Davis 166). Moreover, Joseph wrote a system where it was made necessary that each state had primary education and well paid teachers. He created pension funds for the retired monks as well as for their students, so that they may help run the government, which would help the empire to grow stronger. Promoting welfare, to Joseph, is aspired to save people from their own follies and for their good, an ideal coincidental with monarchal interests. Therefore, Joseph s government is an Enlightenment ideal because the government is doing something good for the people, and his power over everything allowed him to work for the welfare of his
  • 6. Lady Liberty Research Paper The Statue of Liberty, also known as Lady Liberty, for me is the most intriguing part of New York City. It is a symbol of hope, freedom, and a better life in the United States. It is widely known that Lady Liberty was the first thing immigrants saw when they came to America, this architectural structure was a symbol of hope and freedom. What intrigues me the most is, Why would France just give us a an expensive copper statue? I never understood this until right now, everyone knows what she symbolizes, she is the Statue of Liberty. The word liberty is related to the word liberated , which means to free. For example, U.S. soldiers helped liberate Jews from the concentration camps in Germany after World War 2. The statue was given to us to represent freedom, the concept on which our great country was born on. Not just any freedom, a true freedom, a freedom in which we are not subservient to a king. In a sense, we are being liberated from being servants to the kingdom. It is our country and we want to protect and defend it because we are fighting for a cause, not just some person who wears a crown because of the family he was born in to.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To understand this you need to go back in history to the 1790 s when France was fighting there Revolutionary War. They followed the ways of the United Statesby starting the French Revolution in the kingdom of France. The bourgeois or middle class believed the citizens should have a part in the politics of their country and should not be run by a few aristocrats. France wanted true freedom like the U.S.A., they wanted to be liberated from there kings like us. The Statue of Liberty represents that freedom. The U.S. was the first major country to become independent successfully and re imagine politics, this led the French to do the same, which led to a long friendship with
  • 7. Benefit Of Technology Essay Technology is beneficial because it improves communication while also proving to be convenient to society. Brad Stone, in his article Web of Risks references Mitchell Perley, an Atlanta born student that lives in Scotland who still wishes to stay in touch with his friends at home. Stone says, ...His page is linked to the pages of 99 friends at his college and 845 back home at various U.S. schools (Stone para 5). Before technology, if someone moved away, that was the last time they would talk to their friends. Now with Facebook and many other social media platforms, Mitchell can talk to and even see into the daily lives of his friends 3,951+ miles away. It is almost as if Mitchell never left. In the article, As Technology Gets Better, Will Society get Worse? Tim Wu defines technological evolution and explains its role in people s lives. Wu says, [Technological evolution] is self evolution, and it is therefore driven by what we want as opposed to what is adaptive... When it comes to technologies, we mainly want to make things easy. Not to be bored (Wu para 12). The invention of technology was centered on the idea that we could make life easier, and this plan is still the motivation for making new technology today. Technology is and has always been based on providing an easy way to talk to people, while also making things easier on a day to day basis. Through these ideas, technology continues to grow and innovate in a positive direction. Technology violates privacy
  • 8. Michael Harrington s The Other America From The Other America, in Major Problems by Michael Harrington is a document that tells of the poverty present in America that is often skillfully and unintentionally concealed and also speaks of Lyndon Johnson s war on poverty and briefly of how poverty rose during the Reagan administration. After Johnson s declaration of war on poverty, there was significant change regarding the climate of the social, economic, and political in the America of those times. And while Johnson s countless social programs helped decrease poverty immensely, it also left a huge number drowning in it still. Later Reagan s administration would cite George Gilder on the fact that welfare did not reduce poverty but increase it to explain why the levels of poverty rose during the first few months of Reagan s administration. Democrats and liberals would argue against this and say that poverty... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During these times, Harrington wrote The Other America which detailed just how ingrained poverty is in the society of America and how it is concealed throughout the country by the manner of dress, mannerisms, and character and how that inadvertently affects them drastically simply because they blend in with the rest of America that is not struggling economically. Harrington surmises that not only do those in poverty struggle economically but politically as well as their voice is not heard. Part 2: Lyndon B. Johnson s Great Society altered the character and scope of the federal government by making a significant statement by the social programs he put into to place and by sending help to the public in order to battle poverty after his declaration that he had begun a war on poverty. It directly acknowledged that the American people needed help and that help was in the process of coming. The character of the

In an experiment, a group of Salmo salar L. were placed in a cage and were exposed to low, medium, and high flow velocities. Swim group structures were characterized as circular polarized swimming(circle), swimming facing the current (on current), or swimming in combination of the circle and current patterns (mixed). Results showed that the group of Salmo salar L. displayed circle swimming arrangement under low flow velocity conditions, mixed swimming arrangement with medium flow velocity, and on current arrangement with high flow velocity. As flow velocity increased, the group of Salmo salar L. would alter swimming behavior from schooling to swimming against the current and resided near the walls of the cage (Johansson et. al. 2014). Such unique swimming behavior can be explained by the survival benefits and fitness advantages in altering swim structure. This experiment was taken place in a recirculating flume under various flow velocities. Results concluded that as water flow velocity increased, foraging behavior for food consumption decreased in the Chondrostoma nasus L. significantly. This is likely due to the fact that there is a trade off among swimming costs and the net energy yield. Chondrostoma nasus L. residing in high water velocities are less likely to forage for and capture prey as a consequence of the high swimming energy cost associated with their environment. Chondrostoma nasus L. residing in lower water velocities, have a lower swimming cost when it comes to capturing food and will thus, forage more frequently (Flore and Keckeis
  • 11. The Factors Of Teenage Pregnancy Teenage pregnancy is normally identified as a deprived life choice, for example, tasks of teenage parenting have long term impact on the mental health of the mother and children (Statistics New Zealand, 2003). It is important to identify the socioeconomic factors of teenage pregnancy to lower the chances of mental health problems in young mothers. In this paper the aim is to analyse the main socioeconomic factors of teenage pregnancy and discuss how it affects the mental health of an adolescent motherin New Zealand. This essay will commence by identifying how a lack of education is considered as a socioeconomic factor associated with teenage pregnancy, followed by the second theme which will consist of economic circumstances such as, parental unemployment and welfare dependency. Lastly, this essay will discuss how deficiency of support from familyand friends leads to unstable relationships, which has a huge impact on a teenage mother s mental health. A lack of education is one of the main socioeconomic factors which impact the mental health of an adolescent mother. For example, youth that tends to gain fewer educational qualifications are more likely to be in unstable relationships resulting in a lack of knowledge regarding contraceptive use which leaves them to deal with economic circumstances (Breheny Stephens, 2008; Friesen, Woodward, Fergusson, Horwood,

Different people have different opinion about this as well as the definition of happiness that varies through people. According to the dictionary, happiness is the state of being happy. • 13. Stakeholder Analysis And Corporate Social Responsibility Stakeholder analysis is an integral part of what determines a business success. Within every business, there are various stakeholder groups that have individual specific needs. Each stakeholder group has to be consistently considered by the company when it makes decisions. Over the course of five weeks, students made decisions to help guide K Tai, Inc. with its stakeholder analysis and corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts. Several conflicting decisions were considered and a thorough analysis helped the CREO office come up with the best possible solutions to the company s problems. The CSR simulation was an excellent tool to help students understand the importance of ethicsin business and how to address the common issues that businesses face in today s society. One of the key stakeholder groups in businesses is the customer base. Companies are responsible for the safety and well being of their customers when their product or service is in use. Therefore, customers heavily influence companies and their decision making processes. During the fourth year at K Tai, it was evident that consumers faced an eminent danger with their smart phones. Individuals who use their smart phone while driving have been causing more accidents than ever because of the various distractions the phone offers. In order to prevent customers from continuously being put in harm s way, the decision was made to advise K Tai to initiate an industry wide standards body which focused on

  • 15. How The Underrepresentation Of English Language Learners... As the population of English Language Learners , otherwise known as ELLs, has been increasing over the past few decades, so has their disproportionate representation in special education. Too many of our ELLs are often disproportionately placed in special education programs, which may be considered a challenge faced by both general and special educators. But what about the underrepresentation of ELLs in the gifted and talented programs? It seems as though general educators struggle to provide these students with sufficient educational experiences. High potential ELLs can be very successful in any academic setting as long as their educators provide them with appropriate strategies and tools so they can learn content and the English languagesimultaneously. The information provided in this paper is to inform educators what they need to know and specific strategies and tools that can be used in educating high potential ELLs. The federal definition of learners with gifts and talents is, [Students who are gifted] give evidence of high achievement capability in areas such as intellectual, creative, artistic or leadership capacity, or in specific academic field, and who need services or activities not ordinarily provided by the school in order to fully develop those capabilities. • 16. Essay about Sociological Perspectives of the Film Erin... In the film Erin Brockovich, several different social theories can be related to the storyline of the film. Although different, theories from Karl Marx, Emile Durkheim, and Max Weber can all adequately describe what happens in the film. The film is about a small law firm that takes on an extremely powerful organization, PG amp; E (Pacific Gas amp; Electric), on the account that they were knowingly polluting Hinkley, California s water supply and harming the citizens. From Karl Marx, the film can be explained through his base superstructure model of society, with PG amp; E serving as the powerful base, and the rest of society in Hinkley, CA serving as the superstructure. From Emile Durkheim, this movie can be portrayed through his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Marx s base superstructure model, he also uses English factor acts as an example of the powerful avoiding the law. In this example, the English passed laws in an attempt to improve working conditions for factory workers. However, Marx argued that the workers still lost, because the capitalists avoided these regulations and as a result of the factory acts the worker s days actually became much worse. This example also relates to the film in the way that PG amp; E appears to care of Hinkley s population, yet leaving them with lethal diseases. When many of Hinkley s citizens start getting sick, PG amp; E appears to save the day by paying for doctor visits for many families. However, while these families did not have to pay for the initial doctor visits, they were being lied to by doctors paid off by PG amp; E. While it appeared that PG amp; E was helping them they were in turn worse off because they became more and more sick and left with massive medical bills that PG amp; E claimed not to be responsible for. So just as in the factory acts, the citizens still lost. PG amp; E avoided regulation because they were more powerful than the government itself. The film relates to Emile Durkheim s evolutionary theory in the ways that Erin and the rest of the society in the film evolved throughout the movie just as in Durkheim s theory. My analysis will focus mainly on Erin, because

As said guns were historically used to gather food, for sport and to protect ourselves. Criminals use firearms to assert their authority over those they believe lesser than them. It makes them feel more powerful than others. Another example of people using guns for bad would be school shootings. Why are guns the problem when people are using them for unintended reasons? For example in a DUI/DWI we blame the driver of the vehicle, in a bombing we blame the bomber or bomb maker, but when a shooting happens we blame the gun. People see school shootings all over media and immediately jump to the conclusion that guns are the reason this is happening. What they don t even think about is, maybe this is a mental health issue. You can leave a firearmon the porch of your home before you go to work, and when you get home that gun will still be sitting on your porch and no one will be dead. This is because guns don t kill people and they don t make you aggressive or want to kill people. Guns don t have feelings they don t care whether you shoot through human flesh or a hay target. They will not feel remorse because they don t have emotions. They can t change your personality or make you kill

In some cases, dancers who overdo their trainings and practices are the ones at risk of injuries. The author, Anna Aalten in In the Presence of the Body: Theorizing Training, Injuries, and Pain in Ballet , shares her experience when she [discovered] that pushing her legs until they really hurt would bring her closer to the desired ideal (61). The idea of perfecting a skill or technique by any dancers can lead them to overlook any pain they are feeling which can later affect their body and performance in the long run. Studies show that stress is a consequence of the environment in which dancers practice ballet everyday, which is a world of no pain, no gain that is characterized by perfectionism and competition (Yatabe et al. 2). In this case, pain and stress can be further ignored and create a negative impact on dancers due to perfectionism if instructors do not cut down with their excessive trainings. Ballet dancers who demand their selves to perfect a skill or technique can be due to their desire of having the ideal body image. The article states that self efficacy has been studied as a predictor of relapse for alcoholics. They saw a direct correlation between alcohol abstinence and high self efficacy. There is not much information of the relation between self efficacy and the behavior process of change. However, researchers have made hypotheses relating self efficacy to general coping. It has been shown that successful coping leads to a higher self efficacy as well. It is important to know that alcohol is a poor way of coping with problems. The research that was conducted was unbiased and looked at real results of how long people were able to stay away from alcohol, as well as psychological evaluations of their emotional state. Each of the participants of the study were evaluated and their self efficacy was evaluated as either positive or negative. The goal of this research was to show

The MILS model is best used for high assurance systems as the structure of the model has stringent access controls and work flows which a regulated by a microprocessor. This model is simpler than others but offers tighter security. The MILS model is broken down into four components: A Separation Kernel, Middleware, Applications and a Partitioning Communications System. This structure is similar to other security models as they can have a security kernel which regulates drivers and applications. The aspects that separate the MILS model are its security policies and the way in which they are implemented. (OIS) Unlike the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Middleware is responsible for ensuring information sent out is properly defined labeled, filtering and damaging messages and ensuring the information flow restrictions are followed and remain intact. This level also contains device drivers, file systems POSIX which are traditionally located in the kernel of other security models (OIS, 2015). According to Objective Interface Systems, the Application Layer is responsible for enforcing application layer security policies (2015). These security polies can include encryption protection firewalls, and/or IDS settings. This layer is located on top of the middle layer. This layer is unique as the applications security can be evaluated on its own aside from the security of the entire system (Xining Yameng, 2012). The forth component of the system is the Partitioning Communication System (PCS). This component works in conjunction with the Middleware Layer and controls the interaction between the different MILS sections. The PCS provides end to end protection to the sections on the network not directly connected to the MILS. It assists with security for the information flow, data isolation. Periods processing and damage limitation (OIS, 2015). Advantages of MILS The MILS model has several advantages. The primary advantage to MILS is rooted in the system s design. The MILS model was designed for security thus making the architecture

I acknowledge that given the scope of limited resources, and lack of information on the Mapuche advances in the fight against seed laws, I am lacking some depth to the current state of the situation. In addition, there is limited academic knowledge in English about the Mapuche Peoples relationship with the seed patent laws and the Chilean government. Furthermore, with regard to the connection of the Mapuche fight for food security and benefits of their culture and the theory of cosmopolitanism there is a much deeper imperialist fight to be fought. Due to capitalist influence and big business entering the country of Chile the ideals of cosmopolitanism and the sentiment of balancing universality and difference is becoming of less significance

Byatt, the author used many components for a short story to make a cynical tale that creates an incredible sensation of curiosity from the reader. In this story we have two girls who form a friendship in this time of war as they are being evacuated from war zones. These two protagonist are allowed access to the world with only a curfew, where shortly after these two adventures set afoot in a mysterious forest do they encounter the Thing, a creature that could only be created from the darkest depths of the sub conscience that will haunt these girls till the end of all days. Byatt shows the darkness of war with the journey of these girl y using very in depth imagery, historical/war setting, and character development. This story gives its audience incredible imagery, and allusions. Which are good for the very fairytale feel of the story. It starts off with a train full of children, none of which no where they are going. Soon after they make it and are released we encounter a new character named Alys. I found she had a larger part of the story than the amount of text dedicated. She resembled innocence. Now that she was there we have a theme of losing innocence in the story. The forest with the Thing inside represents the time of war and destructiveness it ring in the lives that happen on it. They gave a little bit of insight on the movement of it by stating, They give the strange impression of moving in in waves from

I would share the outcome of the SWOT with the stakeholders and I would hire someone to do a background and market analysis on Countrywide Financial. The reason the stock is tanking is because the market does not believe Bank of America s assets are worth what they say they are worth (Henry Blodget 2011). First Investment Inc believes that the main reason is Bank of America s failed to do the proper outlook investment analyses. Next you will see how Thoreau and Emerson are clear examples of Bright Romanticism. The inclusion of positive view of mankind that is part of Bright Romantic poets can be found in both Emerson and Thoreau. To start off would be Ralph Waldo Emerson. A author that echoes my statement can be found in Guidepost written by Ptolemy Tompkins titled under The Original Positive Thinker Ralph Waldo Emerson. America s original positive thinker, Emerson was a tireless promoter of the basic transcendentalist idea that human beings are larger infinitely larger than they think they are. A man, he wrote, is the facade of a temple wherein all wisdom and all good abide. What we need to do is overcome the self imposed habits of thought that prevent us from fully realizing this potential. Or as Emerson put it, The only sin is limitation. Emerson showed his positive view of mankind through his ideas of anything can be change. Where nothing is impossible where you can transcend through anything and become more. Another source of information is found in his most famous book self reliance a book the embodies the title but a quote that can exemplify his thoughts and writers are Be yourself; no base imitator of another, but your best self. There is something which you can do better than another. Listen to the inward voice and bravely obey that.

The idea of the individual vs society is used in the story to demonstrate how society forces people to confine their individuality for what is deemed as the greater good. Captain Vere s actions in dealing with Billy Buddshows that in society one must separate their individual needs and feelings for the obligations that society forces upon them. Feeling pressure from mutiny knowing that Billy Budd is a good man he sets aside his feelings for him for his responsibilities as a captain. Davis states, Unfortunately, there is no consensus of opinion on how to interpret either Billy s fate or Captain Vere s decision... Many critics are certain that Melville endorsed, and intended for the reader to endorse, Vere s verdict as unfortunate, even tragic, yet necessary (Davis 173). As Davis stated Captain Vere s decision was awful, he knew what he was doing was wrong and immoral, but as captain of the ship he has no choice. In times of war according to society it is absolutely necessary for a man of Vere s stature to to show strength, strength shown through fear or power, otherwise the men will lose hope and chaos will ensue.
