Descriptive Sea World
A few years ago, on a hot summer day, a short Asian boy stared at the sky in disbelief. A roller coaster
loomed over him, and the shadow of it cast over his face. In a few hours later, he found himself
strapped into a seat on the ride, terrified to death. And that short Asian boy turned out to be me. Mom,
my sister, Julianne, and I were at Sea World in San Antonio. Although we ve already been there
multiple times, she insists on going there. It probably has to do with us having a membership and her
being a cheap Asian mom. She wouldn t let us buy any food or drinks, or any souvenirs. Except that
dumb stuffed penguin that she bought Julianne that she managed to rip in my room and make a huge
mess that I had to clean up. Anyways, the shows at Sea World are always the same, so we are left with
a few choices, to rewatch the shows, go to new animal exhibits, or go on some rides. We quickly went
through the new exhibits, and between all these exhibits were the two largest rides in the park. One of
them was what I call the traditional roller coaster, where it goes up slowly so you can enjoy the
beautiful view of the park, then plunge down suddenly, your heart filled with fear and your ears filled
with screams. The other was even worse. It twisted around and went upside down and then went to the
moon. Suddenly, Mom asked Would you like to ride any those rides? You seem really bored riding
these kid rides with Julianne? Two things popped up in my mind. The wimpy side of me was

Borderlands By Gloria Anzaldua Analysis
Borders Beyond the Borderlands.
There are many concepts that Gloria Anzaldua discusses in Borderlands/La Frontera: The New
Mestiza, but there are two that stuck out: linguistic terrorism, nephantla, and la facultad. These
concepts have affected Women such as ElviraPrietoo and Norma Cantu to write from their personal
experiences. To embrace their roots, they came from and never forget the events that shaped them into
the women they are today. Perhaps expand a bit on your introduction. For instance, offer some context
of Borderlands and the other two texts and then teases / a tease / the tease out what it is you will
discuss the themes of memory and identity a bit more.
Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza by Gloria Anzaldua is full of personal narratives detailing
the visible and invisible borderlands that exist within a race, gender, sexuality, and spirituality. Her
essays and poems are based on her own personal experiences as a Chicana and lesbian activist.
Through her writing, she challenges the true definition of the borderlands as more than a simple line
that divides different cultures. It calls for those who are oppressors to change their attitudes and show
support to those of the borderlands. By writing in both English and Spanish she expresses how one
language would not be enough to describe her Chicana literature.
Anzaldua refers to the word Borderlands as the area which is in a state of limbo between Mexico and
the United States. It is a place that is

Should High School Athletes Be Drug Tested
Many high school athletes oppose to drug testing, because they feel that it is not right. High school
athletes shouldn t be drug tested because it is very costly, a violation of rights, and student athletes
won t be able to play high school sports. In fact to drug test one 400 athletes at an average 24 dollars
per student athlete (Ingraham). One of the reasons why high school athlete should not be drug tested is
the cost. It cost nearly 20,000 dollars a year to drug test high school athletes one time a year
(Ingraham).Instead high schools rather pay for drug testing rather than renovating a class room,
buying more desk, or even buying school computers. It cost 3,000 dollars for every positive test
(Ingraham), and most schools don t have

The Deserters In Michael Shaara s The Killer Angels
In Michael Shaara s The Killer Angels toward the beginning of the book, the reader learns of the
Union s reception of one hundred twenty Old Maine deserters. The men are sent to be dealt with by
Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, a highly intelligent Union Colonel. General Meade s orders are clear;
either force the men to fight or shoot them, as stated on page 18. Chamberlain speaks to the men,
saying that he refuses to kill them, but would greatly appreciate their help. His speech is rather
moving, as all but six men agree to fight. The question arises what would have happened had the
Union s Major General John Buford received the mutineers instead? Through the elements of direct
and indirect characterization, it is apparent that Buford would have taken similar actions in addressing
the issue of the deserters. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While he appears as a loner at times, it is obvious that the Major General has a deep respect and love
for his men. On page 150, it states, He called for one of his aides, but the buck toothed boy was dead,
and the yellow haired boy was dead, and the Sergeant was down and would never recover... He wiped
his eyes. He thought: have to get some more lieutenants. Despite even knowing their names, he still
mourns the loss of his men. The author suggests that Buford is quite weary of wartime. Any loss of
life would cause him great emotional pain. The notion that Buford would have the one hundred twenty
men killed seems ridiculous, even if they were

New Media Art With Its Intrinsic Characteristics
Crowdsourced Documentation New media art with its intrinsic characteristics (instability and
variability)[1] poses complex challenges in documentation, this observation is not new, and initiatives
such as DOCAM[2] and Variable Media Network[3] have provided methods and tools to properly
document media artworks. Nevertheless, the social phenomena of crowdsourcing and crowdfunding,
presents new challenges for established documentation methods and standards. This essay aims to
address this subject by referencing recent exhibition and art practice frequently involve public
participation and interaction, taking an in depth look at current theoretical, practical, and institutional
documentation model, examining crowdsourced documentation as a valid source created by various
contributors, can be incorporated as part of formal documentation. September 16, 2016, Take me (I?m

the digital crowdfunding campaign via Kickstarter. With a total $31,018 pledged, 340 backers helped
forty two international and intergenerational artists create 400,000+ artworks to be given away during
this unconventional exhibition, visitors are encouraged to participate, touch, and even take artworks

The Attack On The World Trade Center
The war in Afghanistan is well known for all the destruction it s caused in the Middle East. Two things
well known for the destruction is the attacks on the world trade center, and catching Osama Bin
Laden. It all started September 11th, 2001 when Afghanistan attacked America. These attacks are by
far the worst terrorist attack on American soil. These attacks will never be forgotten. The first attacks
on the world trade center were not the 9/11 attacks. In fact, the first attack was on February 26th,
1993. When a few terrorists put large explosives under the world trade center. The terrorists were
attempting to bring down the world trade center but it didn t. There were six deaths and over 1,000
injured. They had traced the van to a few people who attended a mosque in Brooklyn. Later the leader
of the attacks, Ramzi Yousef, sent a message to the New York Time saying that the attack was
retaliation for Americans support of Israel, then fled to Pakistan. Ramzi Yousef appeared again in the
Philippians and had an apartment that he was making explosives in. He made a bomb that he took onto
an airplane. He placed it in the airplane and had a timer on it and it exploded. The explosive killed one
person and injured ten. Afterward Ramzi decided he wanted to make more attacks on the U.S. He later
was making more explosives in his apartment with a friend. An accident happened while mixing
chemicals and a fire started. Ramzi managed to escape somewhere in the Philippians, but

The Independence Of Puerto Rico
Introduction
The attempted assassination of President Truman was an indication that Puerto Ricans would use any
necessary means to gain independence. Puerto Rico has been a territory of the United States for almost
a century. The citizens of Puerto Rico have always had different views on whether they want
independence or greater autonomy. The following essay will focus on the commonwealth status of
Puerto Rico and the attempted assassination of President Truman.
The commonwealth status of Puerto Rico between the 1950 1952 was with limited autonomy since the
Island was still under the Sovereignty of the United States (Francesco, C. Eugene, 1999). The United
States annexed Puerto Rico following the end of the Spanish American War. For almost a century
Puerto Rico has been under the influence of the United States. The constitutional convention of 1952
gave Puerto Rico the right to form a republican government.
The citizens of Puerto Rico were not satisfied with the current status. For instance, under the
commonwealth status, Puerto Ricans could not exercise their political rights. While they were
considered the United States citizens, they could participate in the voting exercise in the United States.
The Island has no representation in the Electoral College, which means that none of the citizens can
take part in the presidential elections. This was a major challenge for the Puerto Ricans, who felt that
there was a need for change. The Puerto Ricans were also not protected

Introduction The exposed roadcut east of the Doc Long Picnic area, about 9 miles north of the town of
Cedar Crest on the east side of the Sandia Mountains, provided an exceptional site to study weathering
processes. The exposed Precambrian Sandia Granite offered a place to collect data and test the
hypothesis that biotite content, grainsize, and associated inclusions have influenced the amount of
weathering that has occurred. The granite underlies the Great Unconformity and the Madera
Formation, which is a carbonate succession with interbedded sandstones, Pennsylvanian in age. The
granitic outcrop composed of the dominant minerals quartz, potassium feldspar (some plagioclase),
and biotite (field book) displayed different degrees of weathering. Different weathering features in the
exposure such as grussification, jointing, and corestones suggested that grain size and biotite content
were not the only influences on weathering processes taking place.
Methods
Data collection for assessing our hypothesis consisted of making several observations along the
exposed granite. The main observations noted included mineral composition, weathering rank, mean
grain size, percent biotite, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Magic Realism In Art
Magic Realism in art refers to a twentieth century movement which was initiated by European artists
after World War I and which was followed by a second stage that began in North America a decade
later. The earliest phases of Magic Realism began around 1919 and preceded Surrealism by several
years. Together the two phases spanned approximately four decades, with residual works after 1960.
Magic Realism evolved during the Post Expressionism movement in Weimar Germany. Connected
with the Return to Order movement, Post Expressionism exhibited fewer neoclassical instincts than
the similar postwar realist trends in Italy and France. Post Expressionism progressed by shedding
Expressionism s emotionally charged nature and abstract style. This process moved much slower than
the related trends in other European countries, not fully developed until the mid 1920s.
The term Magic Realism was created by the art critic Franz Roh in 1925. He was referring to works
within Post Expressionistic art in which some mystery or a secret seemed to be hidden within the
subject matter. This type of art varied from 19th Century Realism, which was generally naturalistic or

program for Magic Realism, and no recognized standard. These artists did not find the need to be part
of the avant garde nor were they publicity seekers. They acted instead as individuals, who often
painted for a small devoted audience. Magic Realism is not Realism, but it is creations from the artist
s perception and imagination hidden as Reality. Every artist/magician uses different tricks and keeps
his own secrets. Still these artists communicate amongst themselves through cool detached
observations about each other s works. Perhaps we should nickname Magic Realism The Quiet

Summary Of Easter Wings And Easter Wings
To His Coy Mistress by Marvell, Death Be Not Proud by Donne, and Easter Wings by Herbert are
poems that have similar and different aspects to each other. For instance, Easter Wings and Death Be
Not Proud are similar because both refer to God, as well as life or death. To His Coy Mistress has no
relationship to God, but has a relationship between love and lust. However, To His Coy Mistress is
similar to Death Be Not Proud due to the mention of death or dying in each poem. Easter Wings and
Death Be Not Proud have main ideas that evolve around God, and also evolve around the concepts of
life or death. When Donne started off his poem, he wrote, Death be not proud, though some have
called thee. (Donne, 1). In the line mentioned, Donne states that death is dreadful, but later contradicts
this line by saying later in his poem that others consider death an escape. He shows this contradiction
by writing: Must pleasure, then from thee, much more must flow, And soonest our best men with thee
doe goe (Donne, 6 7) Donne specifically focused on the aspect of death, while on the other end,
Herbert specifically focused on the aspect of life in his poem, Easter Wings. Easter Wings primarily
focuses on the resurrection, hence the first work of Herbert s poem. Easter, for most religions, have
focused on the resurrection and re birth of Jesus. Therefore, the title of the poem automatically
foreshadows on what his poem is about and what his poem was inspired by. In

Food Issues At Stetson University
There are many devastating food issues in society; the same is true on college campuses. Problems
such as food waste, nutrition problems, and affordability are only a few of the troubles intertwined
with food. A college campus is much like a small city, it s residents, the students produce a lot of food
waste like anyone else, and if the university does not actively seek to combat the problem of food
waste, it will run ramped. Every day, on the campus of Stetson University, roughly 3,000 students eat
on campus. Thus, it can be a massive and complicated problem to solve; however, making small
changes to become proactive in the problem will make a sizeable impact.
Stetson University may not have vast food options, yet for a small campus, it has a decently large
quantity. The school contains the standard school cafeteria, but it also offers a couple of chain
restaurants such as Johnny Rockets, Einstein s Bagels, a Food Truck, and a partially licensed
Starbucks. I live on campus; as a result, I eat on campus nearly every day so what types of food and
the health choices the school makes directly affects me, as I am not able to eat off campus too often.
The food truck is always interesting as it has a different regional food theme each week, so it is always
fun to see what is the theme of the week. The other restaurants have a set menu as they are not a
university owned chain, but they still offer a wide list of options. Unfortunately, some of the options
on campus are not too healthy. The cafeteria serves about half healthy and has unhealthy foods, so
sometimes it can be very tempting to make unhealthy nutrition choices. Although they do attempt to
display the healthy homemade style foods at the front and the unhealthy pizza and desert like foods
towards the back. It is important for the university to take an active approach in assisting students who
strive to eat healthily.
Typically, I eat breakfast every day at Einstein s Bagels, and my other two meals at the cafeteria or the
food truck. It is rare for me to purchase anything from Starbucks or Johnny Rockets. In the cafeteria I
generally eat healthy, nutritious options, I eat quite a bit of vegetables and meat only a couple of times
a week. However, others

African American Women During The Civil War
African American Women
In American history there have been many truly extraordinary women. These women range from all
different time periods, races and other backgrounds. Over the years women have participate or become
involved in multiple different themes including: politics, midwives or physicians, inventors, literary or
arts figures, feminists, suffrage or equal rights activist, wealthy women, academics, fighters physical
or metaphorical etc. This paper will exemplify three special women, all the while providing
background, some life achievements and details of their last years. These women are Ida Wells,
Isabella Baumfree (A.K.A Sojourner Truth) and Harriet Tubman. All African American abolitionist
who fought endlessly for the civil rights owed to them as Americans, free citizens and humans.
Ida Wells, a woman born a slave in Holly Springs, Mississippi, before the close of the Civil War on 16
July 1862. Some six months later Abraham Lincoln passed the Emancipation Proclamation freeing
slaves. Her parents, who had been slaves, were remarried again after freedom came. Her father, the
son of a pastor, had been taught the carpenter s trade, and mother was a famous cook. In 1878, at age
14 when she was visiting her grandmother in the Holly Springs suffered a yellow fever epidemic in
which both her parents and her 10 month old brother, Stanley, died of Malaria. With no one else to

The Interaction Between Clergy And Laity In Richard IV
The interaction between clergy and laity is also discussed a fair bit in the subtext of the source.
William Longchamps, bishop of Ely, and chancellor in Richard s stead, took castles and titles away
from the men who held them and hand[ed] them over to foreigners and unknown men (31). This
shows that the hold he has over the land with the king gone (i.e. clergy could have a firm grasp on the
government). The only other person to do this is John (the king s brother), who takes the castles away
from the men William assigned and returned them to their rightful castellans. It shows that the power
held by William and John to be about equal, since they both do the same things. Next, the clergy and
laity were against the chancellor who was hated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, monks were not supposed to have (although they did) interactions with the outside world, but as
Richard (the chronicler) mentions the monks live secluded ... and yet you know everything that is
done in the world as soon as it takes places, and sometimes ... in advance (2) . This illustrates that not
all monks or monasteries followed their respective Rule fully. Some might have needed to trade, to
confer blessings, or pray in the church that the laity attend putting them in close proximity to the laity.
Monks also elected their future bishop without the assistance of the secular clergy (57). This
elucidates that the secular clergy generally got involved in the elections of clergymen, possibly putting
in their own men for the position, demonstrating that the secular clergy had little to no say in the
election, even when they were involved. The secular clergy opposed him [the chosen bishop], the
monks obtained him (57). Lastly, the bishop of Chester out of hate for religious orders cast the monks
out of Coventry (69). One must first ask: Why is this man a part of a religious order if he hates them?
and next: What was the outcome of that

Grea Great Ideas
Management plays a vital role for small companies, large corporations, and any other business type.
They help assist in making sure that a task is completed in the correct manner that benefits the
company in many matters to include legal. Most who think about management today, assume they
have a lot of responsibility, to include the ability to lead with great leadership skills acquired through
schooling and knowledge. Fortunately for these leaders, these management skillsets were not just
acquired overnight, they were developed and tested over a long period of time through trial and error
before being taught at an accredited institution or published for others to utilize. Therefore, there have
been many theories and milestones that have developed through time, which have assisted in shaping
management into how it functions today. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Desktop Shell: Windows 8 employs a new user interface based on Microsoft s Metro design language.
The environment features a new tile based Start screen similar to that of the Windows Phone operating

The Transformation Process That Interface Went Through
There are several phases in the transformation process that Interface went through. Considering that
Ray Anderson joined forces with three other business partners, one could assume that there would
definitely be cultural changes or differences, just to name a couple. Interface went through some
phases in cultural incrementalism. The first phase as discussed in our textbook is driven by the vision
of the leader, in this case Ray Anderson. The second phase is to integrate the new values into the
culture. This, however, is determined by what values have been successful for the business in order for
these values to move on to the third phase. With this in mind, the third phase then is when the value
becomes important. These are the three phases in cultural incrementalism. Furthermore, identity
dynamics also plays a huge role in a business. This basically means the business ponders on one very
important question, and the question is as crucial as answering it should be. The question is: who are
we? Members of a business learn culture through verbal and nonverbal behaviors. What is reflected is
then mirrored, and these values tend to stay with the business and helps them adjust behaviors if need
be.
Interface faced some pretty big challenges. Ray Anderson had a vision, and it was probably not the
same vision the other members had. Members of a business are not always in agreement, or they resist
certain things or changes. This was the case at Interface. Therefore, they had to

Tech Prep Essay
Tech Prep
Although the development and implementation of tech prep education programs have been in process
since the initiation of the Carl D. Perkins Act Amendments of 1990, misconceptions about tech prep
education still exist. As defined in provisions authorizing Perkins funds for tech prep, a tech prep
education program is a combined secondary and postsecondary program that
leads to an associate degree or two year certificate; provides technical preparation in at least one field
of engineering technology; applied science, mechanical, industrial, or practical art or trade; or

Although the integration of academic and vocational education offers one strategy for developing the
academic and technical competence of students, it does not constitute tech prep. Tech prep requires
not only new courses and a sequenced core curriculum, but courses that take into account the learning
styles of the majority of students, incorporating concepts like that of contextual learning. According to
Hull (1993), contextual learning occurs only when students process new information or knowledge in
such a way that it makes sense to them in their frame of reference (their own inner world of memory,
experience, and response) (p. 41). Thus, the applied academics approach to learning, which involves
the teaching of solid academic content by means of hands on and vocational applications, follows the
contextual learning concept in that it provides for learning in the context of life experiences building
on what the students already know and applying learning in the context of how the
knowledge/information can be used in the context of exploration, discovery, and invention (ibid.). One
of the goals of applied academic curriculum is that it should enable students to transfer knowledge
from academic content to vocational applications and from school to the workplace.
To ensure a curriculum that will prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies
necessary for work in a technologically

A Study On An Online Course
Scenario 1: A staff member scans photographs from some out of print books for use by a
professor on his course web site for an online course.
Scenario 2: The semester has started and some students have not received their textbook, so
one student makes electronic copies of the textbook and distributes the copies to others in the course.
He does not collect any money from his classmates.
The above scenarios both take place in an educational environment, which immediately calls fair
use to mind. Fair use allows for a copyrighted work to be used for criticism, comment, news reporting,
teaching, scholarship and research (Copyright.gov, 2011). In both of these cases, claims could be made
that the people using the copyrighted work are doing so for teaching or scholarship purposes, which
would make both of them eligible for fair use. Yet, fair use has four factors that have to be taken into
consideration when determination if the use is indeed fair. These four factors are: commercial or non
commercial use, nature of the work, amount or substantiality of the worked used, and impact of the
use
on the work (Copyright.gov, 2011). These factors are what really make case for the difference between
these two cases.
The first factor of fair use is commercial vs. non commercial use. These two cases may seem
different initially, but they are actually the same in respect to this factor. The student in scenario 2 is

Compaq to retreat from its proposed direct sales plan, although Capellas maintained that he would use
the middlemen to offer value added services. [3]
Compaq struggled as a result of the collapse of the Dot com bubble burst, which hurt sales of their
high end systems in 2001 and 2002, and they managed only a small profit in a few quarters during
these years. They also accumulated $1.7 billion in short term debt around this time. [4] The stock price

allow consumers to change manufacturers, explore new product technology, and not get tied to the

Cnut The Great Essay Outline
Cnut the Great, also known as Canute, was the son of Denmark s King Svein Forkbeard and helped
his father to conquer England in the year 1013. After Svein s death, the exiled Anglo Saxon king,
Ethelred the Unready, returned to power, but died in 1016 and was succeeded by his son Edmund
Ironside, who signed a treaty that gave Cnut power over part of England after being defeated at the
Battle of Ashingdon later that year (1016). However, Edmund died a few weeks later and all of
England came under Cnut s rule. His reign brought stability after years of raids and battles.
Eventually, Denmark, Norway, and possibly parts of Sweden also came to be under his rule, forming a
vast empire that is often referred to as the Anglo Scandinavian or North Sea Empire. His son Harold
Harefoot became king when Cnut died in 1035, and served until his death in 1040. Cnut s other son,
Harthacnut, then ascended to the throne; his death in 1042 marked the end of Danish rule in England.
King Cnut s most famous quote goes as follows: Let all men know how empty and powerless is the
power of kings. For there is none worthy of the name but God, whom heaven, earth, and sea obey.

Theme Of Osamu Dazai s The Setting Sun
The setting of Osamu Dazai s The Setting Sun and the history of Japan play a major role in the story
and its theme; in fact, Japan s culture and the events of the 1940s, when is was written, seem to be the
catalyst for its creation. The title is a reference specifically to the fall of ancient Japanese culture as an
actual practice, that is, its removal from everyday use. The actions and motivations of the characters
can be linked directly to the Japanese mindset and its unusually close relationship to death, as seen
throughout history. For example, Kazuko references one of Japan s most beloved novels in her letters
to Uehara: Genji Monogatari, or The Tale of Genji, which was written by an aristocratic woman of the
Heian period known as Murasaki Shikibu (97). When expressing her love for him and her desire to
mother his child, she compares her passion to the iconic novel, exalting those days of Genji, Shikibu s
main character, as the time of ideal relationships. The Tale of Genji indeed explores relationships and
proper and improper behavior, but it also illustrates just how deep death runs in Japanese culture; a
major theme of the world s first great novel is evanescence and the beauty of impermanence. In fact,
the death of the main character Genji s true love Murasaki, although sorrowful, is described with great
care:
Despite the fact that she was terribly emaciated, Murasaki still looked remarkable; the loss of weight
had, if anything, distilled her beauty, which now

Vietnam War Research Paper
The Vietnam War extended from 1962 1975, at that time the Australia governments defence policy
consisted of sending troops over seas to fight against potential enemies this strategy called forward
defence was a major reason for the commitment of Australian troops to the war in Vietnam, from 1962
1972 approximately 60,000 Australian men and women served in Vietnam and there were around 500
Australian causalities lost during the Vietnam War. The outbreak of war in Vietnam was as of as a
result of communist aggression. In 1951 we joined with New Zealand and the United States to sign the
ANZUS treaty, where a attack on any one of those countries was seen as a threat to them all, further in

Vietnam was divided by communist divided north and a westerner backed south. Due to all this there
was an abundance of anti communist groups growing in Australia. Sir Robert Menzies the Prime
minister of Australia at the time came up with a Bill to ban communism in Australia (The 1950
Communist Dissolution) but it was deemed to be unconstitutional by the High Court. This contributed
to the idea of forward defence, which lead our troops over to Vietnam so war wasn t fought on our

Apush Dbq Loyalists
After 1776 Loyalists felt the urge to remain allies with Great Britain. This urge came from their own
sense of protection and personal gain. Although other American colonists choose a different political
standpoint, they were Patriots. They lived for independence and liberty away from the power of the
king of Great Britain. However Loyalists supported the king and the traditional ways of Great Britain.
American colonists would support Great Britain as Loyalists for their own sense of safety in the
colonies, as an escape from embarrassment and failure, and for their own prosperity economically and
emotionally. Having the fear of losing their sense of honor and rank, they decided to continue serving
Great Britain as Loyalists. The Loyal American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Patriots were known to tar and feather Loyalists when they had the opportunity. Therefore, in Virginia,
were Loyalists were not the majority they were targeted.(Doc B) The Patriots in this printing are seen
as inhumane, the faces are portrayed as if they are of a different species than the Loyalists. They re
seen as threatening and almost miserable men. Loyalists are men of great honor, and would not want
to be part of the Patriot movement. This would evoke a sense of embarrassment on the men and they
would push against being subject to mob rule ran by Patriots. The Loyalist being forced to sign the
document even shows a sense of stability and honor, he doesn t seemed frightened or worried and
appears as if he knows he still is superior to those of the Patriots. This source is used to show how
Loyalists, even in complicated situations, are still more powerful and overcome the obstacles they
face. The author evokes a feeling of superiority within a Loyalist despite the situation they are forced

Rhetorical Analysis Of WWF
WWF Rhetorical Media Analysis Stopping the degradation of the planet´s natural environment and to
build a future in which humans live in harmony and peace with nature, it is the World Wide Fund for
Nature s (WWF) fundamental mission. In order to accomplish this difficult task, effective persuasion
methods have to be used. The WWF has to make humans feel empathy and responsibility for their
planet´s health in order to be successful. A website addressing all the problems along with statistics is
an exceptional way to achieve it. The Polar Bears section of the WWF´s website will be analyzed with

Populism In Latin America
Introduction.
In any social science, it is hard to find a concept that has a single, universally accepted definition. Any
scholar has a vision of what characteristics are inherent to this or that phenomenon. The concept of
populism is not an exception. It is one of the most difficult in this respect, as many researchers at
different times have used this term to refer to different phenomena: starting from the style of speech
and ending with a certain stage of development in the process of modernization of the state.
In my paper, the concept of populism is defined by Kurt Weyland as a specific political strategy when
the charismatic leader is directly appealing to the masses, populism is best defined as a political
strategy through which a personalistic leader seeks or exercises government power based on direct,
unmediated, uninstitutionalized support from large numbers of mostly unorganized followers . The
concept of populism as a political strategy is usually used in relation to Latin America. This continent
has a long history of populism, beginning with the 1930s 1960s, when the first wave of populist
regimes was formed (Lazaro Cárdenas in Mexico, Victor Raul Haya de la Torre in Peru, Getulio
Vargas in Brazil and Juan Peron in Argentina). Toward the end of XX beginning of XXI century the
emergence of new radical populist regimes occurred not only in Latin America but also in Eastern
Europe. However, the researchers did not rush to analyze the Eastern European regimes,

Did Popular Culture Become Indaganda During World War One
How did popular culture become propaganda during World War One?
Popular culture plays an active role in everyone s life. For instance, everyone has, at least twice in a
lifetime, watched a movie, or listened to a song. The recurring role of cinema, music and dance has
always been relevant, but when did it meet with politics? This essay is aimed at proving that this
relation took place during World War One, the moment in which allies and followers were especially
needed. In the first paragraph, the reader will receive a detailed overview on propaganda and how
important it became during the Great War. Then, the effects on music and dance during the conflict
will be described. Thirdly, minor issues like sports and fashion will be discussed. Next, ... Show more

Mass media became a type of weapon of warfare , the British government even enlisted celebrated
authors to promote the allied cause to the world. As time went by, individual artists, authors and
illustrators started creating to mobilize public opinion behind war efforts.
Don t waste bread! Save two slices every day and defeat the U boat .
This is a quote from a common, well known propaganda poster. It is directly speaking to the viewer,
and is trying to convince him to save bread, which can be used to feed soldiers. This is a way of
making civilians feel special, it makes them believe they can actually do something to help their
country.
World War One was a true transition point for music genres. During the conflict, patriotic odes were of
vital relevance. A good example is the anti german: Bing! Bang! Bing Em on the Rhine . Lyrics
include the sentence: And then we all go swimming in the rhine, we ll hang out clothes in Hidenburg s
old lines , which shows how music was influenced by the desire for the destruction of opponents.
Some other songs depict the everyday lives of soldiers. For example Oh how I hate to get up in the
morning by Irvin Berlin, which is written from an upset soldier s point of view. The change in music
also influenced dance, which became less popular as the war went on. Men were now overseas and
dance floors were

Boycott of Nike, Walmart, and other retailers for allegedly manufacturing goods under abusive
working conditions in developing countries can also be highlighted in this context.
Influence of CSOs on government
CSOs have been instrumental in influencing government to incorporate environment and labor
provisions in the North American Free Trade Agreement and the World Trade Organisation (WTO)
negotiations, emboldening governments to allow banning of genetically modified organisms and food
products and forcing World Bank to excuse the debt of developing countries.
MEDIATORS OR MODERATORS: CSOs act as mediators or moderators where they collaborate with
corporates jointly working for the betterment of the community. They try to influence various policies
without being directly involved in it. Stakeholder agency theory which can be used to study this role,
assumes that the corporate has ethical and social responsibilities towards a wide variety of
stakeholders which impact them in one or the other way. [1]

  • 2. Descriptive Sea World A few years ago, on a hot summer day, a short Asian boy stared at the sky in disbelief. A roller coaster loomed over him, and the shadow of it cast over his face. In a few hours later, he found himself strapped into a seat on the ride, terrified to death. And that short Asian boy turned out to be me. Mom, my sister, Julianne, and I were at Sea World in San Antonio. Although we ve already been there multiple times, she insists on going there. It probably has to do with us having a membership and her being a cheap Asian mom. She wouldn t let us buy any food or drinks, or any souvenirs. Except that dumb stuffed penguin that she bought Julianne that she managed to rip in my room and make a huge mess that I had to clean up. Anyways, the shows at Sea World are always the same, so we are left with a few choices, to rewatch the shows, go to new animal exhibits, or go on some rides. We quickly went through the new exhibits, and between all these exhibits were the two largest rides in the park. One of them was what I call the traditional roller coaster, where it goes up slowly so you can enjoy the beautiful view of the park, then plunge down suddenly, your heart filled with fear and your ears filled with screams. The other was even worse. It twisted around and went upside down and then went to the moon. Suddenly, Mom asked Would you like to ride any those rides? You seem really bored riding these kid rides with Julianne? Two things popped up in my mind. The wimpy side of me was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Borderlands By Gloria Anzaldua Analysis Borders Beyond the Borderlands. There are many concepts that Gloria Anzaldua discusses in Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza, but there are two that stuck out: linguistic terrorism, nephantla, and la facultad. These concepts have affected Women such as ElviraPrietoo and Norma Cantu to write from their personal experiences. To embrace their roots, they came from and never forget the events that shaped them into the women they are today. Perhaps expand a bit on your introduction. For instance, offer some context of Borderlands and the other two texts and then teases / a tease / the tease out what it is you will discuss the themes of memory and identity a bit more. Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza by Gloria Anzaldua is full of personal narratives detailing the visible and invisible borderlands that exist within a race, gender, sexuality, and spirituality. Her essays and poems are based on her own personal experiences as a Chicana and lesbian activist. Through her writing, she challenges the true definition of the borderlands as more than a simple line that divides different cultures. It calls for those who are oppressors to change their attitudes and show support to those of the borderlands. By writing in both English and Spanish she expresses how one language would not be enough to describe her Chicana literature. Anzaldua refers to the word Borderlands as the area which is in a state of limbo between Mexico and the United States. It is a place that is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

High school athletes shouldn t be drug tested because it is very costly, a violation of rights, and student athletes won t be able to play high school sports. In fact to drug test one 400 athletes at an average 24 dollars per student athlete (Ingraham). One of the reasons why high school athlete should not be drug tested is the cost. It cost nearly 20,000 dollars a year to drug test high school athletes one time a year (Ingraham).Instead high schools rather pay for drug testing rather than renovating a class room, buying more desk, or even buying school computers. • 5. The Deserters In Michael Shaara s The Killer Angels In Michael Shaara s The Killer Angels toward the beginning of the book, the reader learns of the Union s reception of one hundred twenty Old Maine deserters. The men are sent to be dealt with by Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, a highly intelligent Union Colonel. General Meade s orders are clear; either force the men to fight or shoot them, as stated on page 18. Chamberlain speaks to the men, saying that he refuses to kill them, but would greatly appreciate their help. His speech is rather moving, as all but six men agree to fight. The question arises what would have happened had the Union s Major General John Buford received the mutineers instead? Through the elements of direct and indirect characterization, it is apparent that Buford would have taken similar actions in addressing the issue of the deserters. ... On page 150, it states, He called for one of his aides, but the buck toothed boy was dead, and the yellow haired boy was dead, and the Sergeant was down and would never recover... He wiped his eyes. He thought: have to get some more lieutenants. Despite even knowing their names, he still mourns the loss of his men. The author suggests that Buford is quite weary of wartime. Any loss of life would cause him great emotional pain. The notion that Buford would have the one hundred twenty men killed seems ridiculous, even if they were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. New Media Art With Its Intrinsic Characteristics Crowdsourced Documentation New media art with its intrinsic characteristics (instability and variability)[1] poses complex challenges in documentation, this observation is not new, and initiatives such as DOCAM[2] and Variable Media Network[3] have provided methods and tools to properly document media artworks. Nevertheless, the social phenomena of crowdsourcing and crowdfunding, presents new challenges for established documentation methods and standards. This essay aims to address this subject by referencing recent exhibition and art practice frequently involve public participation and interaction, taking an in depth look at current theoretical, practical, and institutional documentation model, examining crowdsourced documentation as a valid source created by various contributors, can be incorporated as part of formal documentation. With a total $31,018 pledged, 340 backers helped forty two international and intergenerational artists create 400,000+ artworks to be given away during this unconventional exhibition, visitors are encouraged to participate, touch, and even take artworks away with them (Cascone, 2016). • 7. The Attack On The World Trade Center The war in Afghanistan is well known for all the destruction it s caused in the Middle East. Two things well known for the destruction is the attacks on the world trade center, and catching Osama Bin Laden. It all started September 11th, 2001 when Afghanistan attacked America. These attacks are by far the worst terrorist attack on American soil. These attacks will never be forgotten. The first attacks on the world trade center were not the 9/11 attacks. In fact, the first attack was on February 26th, 1993. When a few terrorists put large explosives under the world trade center. The terrorists were attempting to bring down the world trade center but it didn t. There were six deaths and over 1,000 injured. They had traced the van to a few people who attended a mosque in Brooklyn. Later the leader of the attacks, Ramzi Yousef, sent a message to the New York Time saying that the attack was retaliation for Americans support of Israel, then fled to Pakistan. Ramzi Yousef appeared again in the Philippians and had an apartment that he was making explosives in. He made a bomb that he took onto an airplane. He placed it in the airplane and had a timer on it and it exploded. The explosive killed one person and injured ten. Afterward Ramzi decided he wanted to make more attacks on the U.S. He later was making more explosives in his apartment with a friend. An accident happened while mixing chemicals and a fire started. • 8. The Independence Of Puerto Rico Introduction The attempted assassination of President Truman was an indication that Puerto Ricans would use any necessary means to gain independence. Puerto Rico has been a territory of the United States for almost a century. The citizens of Puerto Rico have always had different views on whether they want independence or greater autonomy. The following essay will focus on the commonwealth status of Puerto Rico and the attempted assassination of President Truman. The commonwealth status of Puerto Rico between the 1950 1952 was with limited autonomy since the Island was still under the Sovereignty of the United States (Francesco, C. Eugene, 1999). The United States annexed Puerto Rico following the end of the Spanish American War. For almost a century Puerto Rico has been under the influence of the United States. The constitutional convention of 1952 gave Puerto Rico the right to form a republican government. The citizens of Puerto Rico were not satisfied with the current status. For instance, under the commonwealth status, Puerto Ricans could not exercise their political rights. While they were considered the United States citizens, they could participate in the voting exercise in the United States. The Island has no representation in the Electoral College, which means that none of the citizens can take part in the presidential elections. This was a major challenge for the Puerto Ricans, who felt that there was a need for change. The Puerto Ricans were also not protected ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Lab Report Sample Essay Introduction The exposed roadcut east of the Doc Long Picnic area, about 9 miles north of the town of Cedar Crest on the east side of the Sandia Mountains, provided an exceptional site to study weathering processes. The exposed Precambrian Sandia Granite offered a place to collect data and test the hypothesis that biotite content, grainsize, and associated inclusions have influenced the amount of weathering that has occurred. The granite underlies the Great Unconformity and the Madera Formation, which is a carbonate succession with interbedded sandstones, Pennsylvanian in age. The granitic outcrop composed of the dominant minerals quartz, potassium feldspar (some plagioclase), and biotite (field book) displayed different degrees of weathering. Different weathering features in the exposure such as grussification, jointing, and corestones suggested that grain size and biotite content were not the only influences on weathering processes taking place. Methods Data collection for assessing our hypothesis consisted of making several observations along the exposed granite. The main observations noted included mineral composition, weathering rank, mean grain size, percent biotite, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 12. Magic Realism In Art Magic Realism in art refers to a twentieth century movement which was initiated by European artists after World War I and which was followed by a second stage that began in North America a decade later. The earliest phases of Magic Realism began around 1919 and preceded Surrealism by several years. Together the two phases spanned approximately four decades, with residual works after 1960. Magic Realism evolved during the Post Expressionism movement in Weimar Germany. Connected with the Return to Order movement, Post Expressionism exhibited fewer neoclassical instincts than the similar postwar realist trends in Italy and France. Post Expressionism progressed by shedding Expressionism s emotionally charged nature and abstract style. This process moved much slower than the related trends in other European countries, not fully developed until the mid 1920s. The term Magic Realism was created by the art critic Franz Roh in 1925. He was referring to works within Post Expressionistic art in which some mystery or a secret seemed to be hidden within the subject matter. This type of art varied from 19th Century Realism, which was generally naturalistic or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 13. Summary Of Easter Wings And Easter Wings To His Coy Mistress by Marvell, Death Be Not Proud by Donne, and Easter Wings by Herbert are poems that have similar and different aspects to each other. For instance, Easter Wings and Death Be Not Proud are similar because both refer to God, as well as life or death. To His Coy Mistress has no relationship to God, but has a relationship between love and lust. However, To His Coy Mistress is similar to Death Be Not Proud due to the mention of death or dying in each poem. Easter Wings and Death Be Not Proud have main ideas that evolve around God, and also evolve around the concepts of life or death. When Donne started off his poem, he wrote, Death be not proud, though some have called thee. (Donne, 1). In the line mentioned, Donne states that death is dreadful, but later contradicts this line by saying later in his poem that others consider death an escape. He shows this contradiction by writing: Must pleasure, then from thee, much more must flow, And soonest our best men with thee doe goe (Donne, 6 7) Donne specifically focused on the aspect of death, while on the other end, Herbert specifically focused on the aspect of life in his poem, Easter Wings. Easter Wings primarily focuses on the resurrection, hence the first work of Herbert s poem. Easter, for most religions, have focused on the resurrection and re birth of Jesus. Therefore, the title of the poem automatically foreshadows on what his poem is about and what his poem was inspired by. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Food Issues At Stetson University There are many devastating food issues in society; the same is true on college campuses. Problems such as food waste, nutrition problems, and affordability are only a few of the troubles intertwined with food. A college campus is much like a small city, it s residents, the students produce a lot of food waste like anyone else, and if the university does not actively seek to combat the problem of food waste, it will run ramped. Every day, on the campus of Stetson University, roughly 3,000 students eat on campus. Thus, it can be a massive and complicated problem to solve; however, making small changes to become proactive in the problem will make a sizeable impact. Stetson University may not have vast food options, yet for a small campus, it has a decently large quantity. The school contains the standard school cafeteria, but it also offers a couple of chain restaurants such as Johnny Rockets, Einstein s Bagels, a Food Truck, and a partially licensed Starbucks. I live on campus; as a result, I eat on campus nearly every day so what types of food and the health choices the school makes directly affects me, as I am not able to eat off campus too often. The food truck is always interesting as it has a different regional food theme each week, so it is always fun to see what is the theme of the week. The other restaurants have a set menu as they are not a university owned chain, but they still offer a wide list of options. Unfortunately, some of the options on campus are not too healthy. The cafeteria serves about half healthy and has unhealthy foods, so sometimes it can be very tempting to make unhealthy nutrition choices. Although they do attempt to display the healthy homemade style foods at the front and the unhealthy pizza and desert like foods towards the back. It is important for the university to take an active approach in assisting students who strive to eat healthily. Typically, I eat breakfast every day at Einstein s Bagels, and my other two meals at the cafeteria or the food truck. It is rare for me to purchase anything from Starbucks or Johnny Rockets. In the cafeteria I generally eat healthy, nutritious options, I eat quite a bit of vegetables and meat only a couple of times a week. However, others ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All African American abolitionist who fought endlessly for the civil rights owed to them as Americans, free citizens and humans. Ida Wells, a woman born a slave in Holly Springs, Mississippi, before the close of the Civil War on 16 July 1862. Some six months later Abraham Lincoln passed the Emancipation Proclamation freeing slaves. Her parents, who had been slaves, were remarried again after freedom came. • 16. The Interaction Between Clergy And Laity In Richard IV The interaction between clergy and laity is also discussed a fair bit in the subtext of the source. William Longchamps, bishop of Ely, and chancellor in Richard s stead, took castles and titles away from the men who held them and hand[ed] them over to foreigners and unknown men (31). This shows that the hold he has over the land with the king gone (i.e. clergy could have a firm grasp on the government). The only other person to do this is John (the king s brother), who takes the castles away from the men William assigned and returned them to their rightful castellans. It shows that the power held by William and John to be about equal, since they both do the same things. Next, the clergy and laity were against the chancellor who was hated ... Some might have needed to trade, to confer blessings, or pray in the church that the laity attend putting them in close proximity to the laity. Monks also elected their future bishop without the assistance of the secular clergy (57). This elucidates that the secular clergy generally got involved in the elections of clergymen, possibly putting in their own men for the position, demonstrating that the secular clergy had little to no say in the election, even when they were involved. The secular clergy opposed him [the chosen bishop], the monks obtained him (57). Lastly, the bishop of Chester out of hate for religious orders cast the monks out of Coventry (69). • 19. The Transformation Process That Interface Went Through There are several phases in the transformation process that Interface went through. Considering that Ray Anderson joined forces with three other business partners, one could assume that there would definitely be cultural changes or differences, just to name a couple. Interface went through some phases in cultural incrementalism. The first phase as discussed in our textbook is driven by the vision of the leader, in this case Ray Anderson. The second phase is to integrate the new values into the culture. This, however, is determined by what values have been successful for the business in order for these values to move on to the third phase. With this in mind, the third phase then is when the value becomes important. These are the three phases in cultural incrementalism. Furthermore, identity dynamics also plays a huge role in a business. This basically means the business ponders on one very important question, and the question is as crucial as answering it should be. The question is: who are we? Members of a business learn culture through verbal and nonverbal behaviors. What is reflected is then mirrored, and these values tend to stay with the business and helps them adjust behaviors if need be. Interface faced some pretty big challenges. Ray Anderson had a vision, and it was probably not the same vision the other members had. Members of a business are not always in agreement, or they resist certain things or changes. This was the case at Interface. Therefore, they had to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although the integration of academic and vocational education offers one strategy for developing the academic and technical competence of students, it does not constitute tech prep. Tech prep requires not only new courses and a sequenced core curriculum, but courses that take into account the learning styles of the majority of students, incorporating concepts like that of contextual learning. According to Hull (1993), contextual learning occurs only when students process new information or knowledge in such a way that it makes sense to them in their frame of reference (their own inner world of memory, experience, and response) (p. 41). Thus, the applied academics approach to learning, which involves the teaching of solid academic content by means of hands on and vocational applications, follows the contextual learning concept in that it provides for learning in the context of life experiences building on what the students already know and applying learning in the context of how the knowledge/information can be used in the context of exploration, discovery, and invention (ibid.). One of the goals of applied academic curriculum is that it should enable students to transfer knowledge from academic content to vocational applications and from school to the workplace. Scenario 2: The semester has started and some students have not received their textbook, so one student makes electronic copies of the textbook and distributes the copies to others in the course. He does not collect any money from his classmates. The above scenarios both take place in an educational environment, which immediately calls fair use to mind. Fair use allows for a copyrighted work to be used for criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship and research (Copyright.gov, 2011). In both of these cases, claims could be made that the people using the copyrighted work are doing so for teaching or scholarship purposes, which would make both of them eligible for fair use. Yet, fair use has four factors that have to be taken into consideration when determination if the use is indeed fair. These four factors are: commercial or non commercial use, nature of the work, amount or substantiality of the worked used, and impact of the use on the work (Copyright.gov, 2011). These factors are what really make case for the difference between these two cases. The first factor of fair use is commercial vs. non commercial use. These two cases may seem different initially, but they are actually the same in respect to this factor. The student in scenario 2 is copying the textbook and giving it away free to their ... Theme Of Osamu Dazai s The Setting Sun The setting of Osamu Dazai s The Setting Sun and the history of Japan play a major role in the story and its theme; in fact, Japan s culture and the events of the 1940s, when is was written, seem to be the catalyst for its creation. The title is a reference specifically to the fall of ancient Japanese culture as an actual practice, that is, its removal from everyday use. The actions and motivations of the characters can be linked directly to the Japanese mindset and its unusually close relationship to death, as seen throughout history. For example, Kazuko references one of Japan s most beloved novels in her letters to Uehara: Genji Monogatari, or The Tale of Genji, which was written by an aristocratic woman of the Heian period known as Murasaki Shikibu (97). When expressing her love for him and her desire to mother his child, she compares her passion to the iconic novel, exalting those days of Genji, Shikibu s main character, as the time of ideal relationships. The Tale of Genji indeed explores relationships and proper and improper behavior, but it also illustrates just how deep death runs in Japanese culture; a major theme of the world s first great novel is evanescence and the beauty of impermanence. In fact, the death of the main character Genji s true love Murasaki, although sorrowful, is described with great care: Despite the fact that she was terribly emaciated, Murasaki still looked remarkable; the loss of weight had, if anything, distilled her beauty, which now ... • 30. Populism In Latin America Introduction. In any social science, it is hard to find a concept that has a single, universally accepted definition. Any scholar has a vision of what characteristics are inherent to this or that phenomenon. The concept of populism is not an exception. It is one of the most difficult in this respect, as many researchers at different times have used this term to refer to different phenomena: starting from the style of speech and ending with a certain stage of development in the process of modernization of the state. In my paper, the concept of populism is defined by Kurt Weyland as a specific political strategy when the charismatic leader is directly appealing to the masses, populism is best defined as a political strategy through which a personalistic leader seeks or exercises government power based on direct, unmediated, uninstitutionalized support from large numbers of mostly unorganized followers . The concept of populism as a political strategy is usually used in relation to Latin America. This continent has a long history of populism, beginning with the 1930s 1960s, when the first wave of populist regimes was formed (Lazaro Cárdenas in Mexico, Victor Raul Haya de la Torre in Peru, Getulio Vargas in Brazil and Juan Peron in Argentina). Toward the end of XX beginning of XXI century the emergence of new radical populist regimes occurred not only in Latin America but also in Eastern Europe.
