Photoshop in Business and Society
Businesses have countless applications for the computer software known as Photoshop. The software
is such an integrated part of society that businesses and scholarly articles assume people have prior
knowledge of what it is and what it does. Photoshop is defined by Oxford as trademarked digital
image editing software to alter photographic images. It is an industry standard for digital graphics and
has many applications to various businesses and media. Lev Manovich wrote in Inside Photoshop that
to count up the number of options in Photoshop and then count all the options each option
subsequently contains, that the total number of options the software allows for would be in the
thousands. Professionals in media, education, research, and many businesses utilize the software.
However, there is controversy surrounding the use of Photoshop in advertisements that edited models
to unrealistic levels, because of the impact those images have on society. Nonetheless, Photoshop is
widely used and has revolutionized business and integrated into many industries not limited to media
or photography. Photoshop has a brief history since it has only been around for almost three decades.
At the end of the 1980s, it was beginning to be developed as a way of procrastination by Thomas
Knoll, a University of Michigan graduate student and doctoral candidate in computer vision. Knoll
was trying to write programming code to display gray scale computer images on a black and white
bitmap monitor as

Summary Of The Overcoat By Nikolai Gogol
In a time of large, corrupt, and ineffective bureaucracy, Nikolai Gogol looks provide a humorous
perspective on life in Tsarist Russia. Through both The Nose and The Overcoat, Gogol reveals his true
nature as a comical humorist with the intention of giving readers a laugh but also of mocking human
vanity. From the very beginning of The Overcoat, it becomes clear the story has a comedic nature.
While explaining to the reader the touchiness of departments in Russia, Gogol gives the district police
chief as an example: He plainly demonstrated that all the imperial institutions were going to the dogs,
and that the Czar s sacred name was being taken in vain; and in proof he appended to the complain a
romance, in which the district chief of police is made to appear about once in every ten pages, and
sometimes in a downright drunken condition (Gogol 1). The scenario Gogol describes is one of
absurdity. How could someone get so worked up over a book that has no intent of offending them? No
normal person would ever become so hysterical over a piece of literature that indirectly offends them.
Claiming that the whole political system of Russia is being destroyed and that royalty had been
disgraced because of a simple character in a book that resembles oneself is preposterous. To a rational
mind, the police chief s over emotional reaction is clearly insane, as a normal person does not have the
narcissism to take minute details personally. This laughable situation

Analysis Of The Movie Jayne
Casciana Jayne Holden wasn t born into your typical stereotype family, born on June 29th, 1989
moments before her identical twin sister Syria Nichole. Casciana was always the curious one, she was
also a daddy s girl while her twin was momma s little angel the one that could never do no wrong.
Casciana loved her sister more than anything, except she hated that their mother Nicole Marie Holden
would always believe Syria over Casciana never really giving her the benefit of the doubt. It was what
always caused Casciana to run in the other direction when she wanted something from one of her
parents. She knew that her father would always give it to her no questions asked. Patrick Dean Holden

While Syria thought it was funny that Casciana was the one that did that, her mother hated it. Casciana
would always find herself getting into trouble including in school while she applied herself and was a

understood her and the person she wanted to be. Elementary school and Middle school weren t all that
things were cracked up to be, Casciana had one real friend that was actually a friend and was always
around including when Casciana just wanted to be left alone. She was that friend that just came and
bugged the hell out of Casciana just to make sure she stopped closing herself off to people.
When high school came around at Casciana started growing more into a woman she began to
experience changes in her body, things that she didn t understand. She would start to forget things, she
would misplace things and could never find them again. It wasn t until she was 17 years old that her
whole life changed and it wasn t for the better. Casciana had become a completely new person, she
stayed out all night, she partied, she stopped going to class, and when her father was home all she did
was fight with him. Some would say that she was possessed by something, she would just laugh it off,
but the truth was she was possessed, Casciana was slightly

Experimental Procedures Of An Ige Antibody
There were several experimental procedures that were performed by Bayry et al that allowed for this
experiment to be performed. One of these procedures included treatment of an IgE antibody that is
produced specifically in mice, SPE7 with heme using the technique immunoblotting to determine the
polyreactivity of heme and the resulting consequences of the reaction. Immunoblotting, also known as
western blotting, is a type of an assay that is specifically used for the detection and characterization of
proteins1. According to Gallagher and Chakavarti, immunoblotting works by exploiting the specificity
inherent in antigen antibody recognition5. It involves the solubilization and electrophoretic separation
of proteins, glycoproteins, or lipopolysaccharides by gel electrophoresis, followed by quantitative
transfer and irreversible binding to nitrocellulose, PVDF, or nylon5. The immunoblotting technique
has been useful in identifying specific antigens recognized by polyclonal or monoclonal antibodies
and is highly sensitive5. This unit provides protocols for protein separation, blotting proteins onto
membranes, immunoprobing, and visualization5. Another technique used was an Enzyme Linked
Immunosorbent Assay or ELISA. The purpose of an ELISA is to determine if a particular protein is
present in a sample and if so, how much6. There are two main variations on this method and
whichever one is used depends on the type of experiment that is being run. One can determine how

Duck Hunting
One early saturday morning my dad (Shawn), my cousin (trey), and I woke up at 2:30 a.m. to go duck
hunting. When we get out there we are one of the first people there and 4:00 comes along and we sent
out to our spot. When we come to a spot that boats can t go we have to walk for about 15 minutes. As
we are putting out the last of are decoys we here so more people throwing out decoys and they are
pretty close. Well, we start talking to them and they are pretty nice and they ask if they can hunt with
us and we said yes. Then, daylight comes and a group of ducks come in and we shot but I was the only
one that killed one that we could find and it´s a drake which is a male mallard. Then, my dad shoots
and we could not find his ducks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

said ¨ I will.¨ When he gets to the top of the log and gets stood up he losses his balance and slips and
falls as he is falling he drops his gun in the water and luckily it hits his legs and he catches it and when
he gets up he looks like he is going to cry and then I bust out laughing and so does my dad then my
cousin just starts laughing. When we got to the boat my dad said do you all want to hunt here or go
were we normally do and we said were we normally do and he said ok. When we get there my cousin
takes his waiters completely off and dumps the water out of them and puts the back on and when we

Hinduism in American Life Essay
Hinduism in American Life
The English word religion loosely translates into rules in Latin. Therefore, a religion teaches us how
to think, how to act, and basically everything except what to eat in the morning. The Hindu and
Christian religion agree on many things and our society follows some of the rules too because religion
and laws are based on humanity. From holy literature many different ideas have been pawned but they
are all supposed to lead you to the same things: a happy, healthy life, contribution to the world around
us, and some kind of liberation after death. Concerning these ideals the Hindu religion has come up
with three ways to make sure that everybody will get what they want out of life and those are the four

The stage of forest dweller is very much life the family man stage but there are three main differences,
he can retire to a forest, he has no obligation to pay back society or work and he is supposed to spend
time reading the Vedas. After that if he wants to be ultra holy you can detach from life by staging your
own social death and do nothing but pursue salvific knowledge. Many people in The United States
lead a life almost exactly like this. They start off as a student to learn knowledge for jobs and spiritual
journeys later in life. The law requires that we go to school until atleast 16 and most of our parents
require us to go to church. If you do not go to school there are consequences in each religion and to
receive awards you must be first be a student. In our culture today we can live off of the government.
The next stage of life Hindu life is like American life because most of us start families and provide for
them and a lot of us do things for society like working at a research university or donating clothes to
charity. In fact our society rewards charity by giving us tax exemption and Nobel peace prizes for
science achievements and discoveries. The Christian and Jewish religion stress that you must do
things for society to be a better human being. After the family man stage many old people retire and
many people become more religious at this time. If you are religious you get accepted to heaven so
many old people take their

Reintroducing Wolves to Yellowstone National Park
Reintroducing Wolves to Yellowstone National Park The area of Yellowstone National Park has a long
history of inhabitants, even before it became the nation s first national park. In the area now known as
Yellowstone National Park, wolves were once very prominent. However due to westward expansion in
the 1800s, agriculture began to increase. This led to the wolves that once thrived in this area to being
practically completely removed. The increase in agriculture in this region led to a lot of the wolves
prey becoming reduced or eliminated. Since the wolves had a decrease in prey, the wolves began to
prey on domestic animals, which then resulted in humans eliminating the wolves almost completely.
By the 1930s the wolf was eliminated from the area. This was before people had an understanding of
how ecosystems work and the interrelation of species. Now that the wolves were gone, elk then
became overpopulated. A lot of the vegetation began to disappear as well due to the overgrazing of the
elk. However after about a 70 year absence, in 1995 the wolves were carefully brought back to
Yellowstone. When they brought the wolves back to the park, there was not just an effect on one
species or one area but rather they affected the entire ecosystem of the area. I will discuss their effects
on areas such elk, beaver colonies, scavengers, aspen trees, willow trees and cottonwood trees. Once
the wolves were brought back into Yellowstone, immediately the elk population began decreasing.

The Heat Shock Protein 72
At the start of the paper (Lancaster et al., 2004) the abstract is written well by stating their hypothesis,
whether heat shock protein 72 (Hsp72) can be released during times of physical stress. This section
also contains data collected from the results to give the reader a clear insight in to what to expect to
find. It is my opinion, the abstract is a positive due to it enticing you in and explaining what the study
will be about. Following on from the abstract the introduction goes in to extensive detail in to studies
previously undertaken around Hsp72, these go in to great detail of what the other articles have found.

It is my belief that the authors(Lancaster et al., 2004) were justified in using this citation. To run
experiments with human subject s ethical approval is needed and for this they received their approval
from the Ethical Committee of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg in accordance with Declaration of
Helsinki. Which has appeared in other articles related to research based on Hsp72 (Peart et al., 2011).
For this experimental procedure factors needed to be controlled to ensure they had no effect on results
for example, uptake of nutrients and environmental conditions. These were controlled by having a
period of fasting and specific carbohydrate drinks to drink during exercise and the room temperature
kept at 21±1°c. Although these are good points for the method, it also comes into criticism as well.
Firstly the use of a catheter in the antecubital vein with no mention on how stressful this could be on
the subjects. An improvement on this method would be to take blood samples without a catheter either
at the start and end of the exercise session or at intervals during the session (Magalhães et al., 2010).
Secondary the use of only 6 highly trained men with a mean age range of 26±2 years as a sample size,
this doesn t fairly represent the population and from my research I can find no large size study for this
topic with the greatest sample size being 16 men (Périard, Ruell, Caillaud, Thompson,

Essay On How Did Texas Fight In The Civil War
Fighting for What s Right (Or Believed to Be)
Way back when, the South had clashing opinions with the North. And like in most cases, the
disagreement turned into a war. The US was divided into the North and South; one side strongly for
slavery, and one strongly against. Everyone thought that they could live this way, divided, in harmony,
but they were wrong. Southern states began to secede, and a month later war broke out. Why did
Texans fight in the Civil War? The residents of Texas fought because they loved Texas, they wanted to
have states rights, and they wanted to protect slavery.
Texans participated in the Civil War because they loved Texas. In Document D, John Rabb writes

...no one state can force another state to either remain in it or withdraw from it. (Doc C) People in the
South believed that they had their own rights, but the president said otherwise. Southerners (including
Texans) had a strong desire for the power to give their state specific laws.
The people of Texas fought in the Civil War to preserve slavery. African race ... is mutually beneficial
to both bond (slave) and free, and is ... justified by the experience of mankind... (Doc B) Texans
believed that slavery was right, and that Africans benefited from slavery. I think that this is the most
important reason that Texans fought because it s literally what divided the nation. If everyone agreed
on things regarding slavery, the country wouldn t have split and the American Civil War would be non
existent.
Texans fought in the Civil War because residents loved Texas, they felt a strong desire for states rights,
and believed slavery should be preserved. I think that slavery is wrong and inhumane. So if I had lived
in Texas during the Civil War and I had to fight, I would fight because I love Texas. However, if i didn
t have to fight, I wouldn t because the South was fighting to preserve slavery and I m against that. At
the end of the day, we re all humans, no matter our race or skin

The Backyard Of My Father s Rickety House Essay
There used to be a small town in the backyard of my father s rickety house. It wasn t constructed by
carpenters or designed by architects. This primitive village was built by children with overactive
imaginations and an abundance of time. In fact, I was the one, who came up with the idea to build it.
During the summer of 2010, my two stepsisters and I had exhausted all of our summer activity
options. Everyday, we were in the pool or riding our shiny bikes up and down the gravel driveway.
Even though I only visited my father for a week at most, I couldn t help, but feel like these activities
were becoming repetitive and unenjoyable. Commonly, this would cause anyone to search for
something else more interesting to spend their time on. I found that something to be an untouched
wooded area on the side of my father s property. No one usually went near there due to the glass and
the creatures living under the leaves. Whenever it would rain, snakes would emerge from those woods
to play in the puddles near our house. Needless to say, it took a few years for a group of girls to work
up the courage to explore the snake s natural habitat. Before my step sisters and I started to clear the
forest, we had to ask for permission to use our parent s yard tools. Sadly, I had sent my step sister
Kelsey to ask because I was too afraid that my step mother would say no . In short, my step parent was
a tall, blond woman in her early twenties, who mostly laid around on the couch

Animal Testing Unnecessary
Animal testing has a long history, with great minds such as Aristotle and Copernicus partaking in
order to further their research. Scientists have used animals for biomedical research to help further
their limited understanding of anatomy and physiology for thousands of years. It could be argued that
the use of animal testing in the past has led to the current level of understanding and medical research
that has saved many lives. However, the techniques used by Aristotle and others should now be
considered antiquated. There is technology available today that makes animal testing unnecessary, but
greed has caused major companies to continue testing on animals because it is less expensive than
investing in cruelty free methods. Animals are also used for cosmetic testing, to find which ingredients
and makeup and cosmetics can cause irritation to consumers. Besides the fact that there are other
methods available to find harmful ingredients, testing on animals to further societies own vanity is
cruel and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Testing on animals allows researchers to see how the drug or chemical will fact the entire body at
once. A common argument used in favor is called the Animal Model which essentially says that some
animals have systems that are very similar to human systems. An example would be chimpanzees
whose internal systems are about ninety percent similar to humans, and pig skin is composed of the
nearly the same material as humans (Speaking of Research). However, research has shown that this
model is heavily flawed and does not universally apply to humans. One reason for this is the genetic
diversity between humans, whereas many animals are very similar alleles and are nearly genetically
identical, humans share many different versions of genes and how an individual responds to

What is a reasonable explanation for the purpose of the Native American Creation Stories? Explain the
obvious differences in the effects of the creation stories being delivered in the traditional oral tradition
as opposed to being read as one written narrative. Think about what happens when stories are told
orally and as a people instead of from a single author s point of view. How reliable are the narratives
as translations of oral tales? What is a reasonable explanation for the purpose of the Native American

Evaluation Of A Performance Assessment
Evaluation of a Performance Assessment: edTPA James (Monty) Burger Texas A M University
Evaluation of a Performance Assessment: edTPA Teacher effectiveness is of the utmost importance to
ensure student success. However a valid and reliable performance assessment to evaluate teacher
effectiveness has historically remained elusive. Recognizing this need, Stanford University developed
the edTPA (formerly Teacher Performance Assessment) to specifically measure teacher
readiness/effectiveness. The edTPA began field testing in 2009, and has been administered
operationally since 2013. The focus of the edTPA is to assess an authentic cycle of teaching which is
comprised of three tasks. These tasks include ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the 2014 edTPAAdministrative Report some random sampling was done for scorer
reliability with very positive results. Out of 1,808 portfolios (which were double scored
independently) the scorers assigned either the same or adjacent scores with total agreement in nearly
all cases (93.3%). While that speaks well for the scorer reliability, as far as appropriate sampling for
validation and norming the edTPA appears to fall short. There are several mentions of small sample
sizes and differences in group sizes preventing any strong generalizations or conclusions. Some
sample sizes are as large as several thousand while others fewer than 10, creating the opportunity for
instability. Reliability The next condition that should be closely reviewed when evaluating a
performance assessment is reliability (Rudner, 1994). As discussed above the inter rater reliability for
the edTPA seems to be very reliable. Ten percent of portfolios are randomly double scored to examine
scorer rates, and the results provide evidence of high total agreement. According to the 2014 edTPA
Administrative Report the overall reliability coefficient across all fields was 0.923, indicating a high
level of consistency across the rubrics, establishing that the rubrics as a group are successfully
measuring a common construct of teacher readiness. There was some concern with reliability
specifically surrounding the

Drug Trafficking And Its Effects On America
In regard to Latin America, this area is a crucial geographical zone for drug trafficking and production.
Due to the location, the drug trade has found its perfect home, vast mountains and forests enable huge
farms to produce and ship drugs to any region they want. Whether it is Colombia, Peru or one of the
many countries found to be in this vast collection of drug trafficking, it is apparent that they all share
similar geographies that allow the trade to continue. As a result of this, countries in this region have
been subjugated to many imperialistic like efforts to eradicate this growing issue, regardless of
involvement. Through the use of diplomacy and past military intervention, the U.S. and other
countries have tried to keep a grip on the ever growing drug ring surrounding this area. Unfortunately,
it has become evident that the effort given by the U.S. is not enough to combat this ever growing and
secure market. Drug trafficking first started to show itself in Latin America during the years from the
1960s to 1970s, when the use of drugs began to become more popular throughout the youth of this
period ( Crandal ). During this time, the people in these exporting countries started to see a large
growth in the revenues brought upon by the trafficking, and rural communities began to supply more
and more drugs, beginning with Marijuana, but eventually becoming a much larger exporter of
cocaine( Drug Trafficking ). Cocaine began to seem like the perfect drug to traffic

Legalization Of Drugs And Szasz
The topic that we have discussed in class so far that has impressed me the most has to be drug
legalization. There were so many reactions amongst the class that it clearly is one of the most, if not
relative topics till this day. Some people agreed on the legalization of drugs and Szasz view, but some
people also were against it like Wilson. The fact that drugs can have an impact on individuals, society,
and the environment is what I think makes it so controversial. It is a prevalent issue since the
discussion of certain drugs being legalized are in the works as of right now. Throughout history, we
have seen the impact of drugs whether legalized or not. With that said, there is bound to be a sort of
debate about how the pros and cons weigh

Compare / Contrast the evolution of Aquatic Organism to Terrestrial Organism. what did fish evolve
from? What were the different stages of their evolution?
What makes an animal aquatic is if it is a vertebrate or an invertebrate. They live in water for the
MAJORITY of their life, it could breathe air or extract oxygen through its habitat in the water through
their special adaptations such as gills or through its skin. A Terrestrial Organism is basically the total
opposite, these are your animals that live on land, from your friendly pets to the slug snails living in
the backyard.
Important characteristics of terrestrial organism s environment would be to have DRY land in
comparison to an aquatic animal. Oxygen is very important to a terrestrial organisms , it needs to

With this happening the Devonian has become known as the age of fishes. The first backboned fish
were the Aganthans, which are commonly called jawless fish (Huges, 1996). Agnathans live today as

We need to
make sure we are getting marketing collateral into the hands of the executives.
Me personally, as a practice manager I am more inclined to refer to a
facility for rehabilitation and home health agency when I can develop a trusting relationship
with the representative. We deal with a lot of Home Health and Ostomy Nurses, I want to make
sure my patients are taken care of and that the doctors are being informed of any changes with
the patient. I want to get a phone call immediately of any changes, not reading about it in a daily
progress note. As for payers, this is a tricky relationship to build. Many health organizations try
to build relationship with their area representative with the insurance carriers they participate
with. I know, when I was doing credentialing for a health organization I built a relationship with
the area representative to help me out with any credentialing issues and contract issues. By
building this relationship, when issues did arise I was able to speak with the representative. I
was also able to put the patients mind at ease by letting them know I was speaking to a direct
representative with their insurance company and not just a customer service representative. Also
by building this relationship, I am better able to address any questions or concerns regarding
specific plans without having to direct them to the 800 number on the back of their card.

How do the Poets Explore the Theme of Death in Educating...
Tone is very important in poetry as it plays a role in the way the characters within the poem are
portrayed, the way we perceive the writers intentions and it sets the mood when reading the poem.
This can clearly be seen with mother in a refugee camp as the poem overall has a very hopeless and
harsh tone and this can be seen when the narrator of the poem say, She soon would have to forget in
the context that the death of the child is inevitable and they are hopeless as they cannot defy destiny.
This is also harsh as the poet does not cover up death with euphemisms but is very straight forward
saying that there is no other choice other than to forget. When it comes to describing the mother it
becomes a very gentle and caring tone and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pleading tone can be seen in the poem when Dylan Thomas says, Curse, bless, me now with your
fierce tears, I pray. This comes as plea to his dad to fight death and not give in and this also
emphasizes Dylan Thomas s desperation for his father to wake up and not give in. On the other hand
with Remember the tone develops as you go through the poem and it goes from a commanding tone to
one that is accepting towards the end and this can be seen when Christina Rossetti says, Better by far
you should forget and smile than that you should remember and be sad. This shows us that the
character actually cares about the feelings of the person that loves her as she would rather that they
forget and be happy than for them to remember and be sad. This development of tone comes as a
natural due to the fact that the nature of the poem is a sonnet. Sonnets tend to convey a problem in the
first octave and find the solution to that problem in the last sestet and this can clearly be seen in
remember as she is telling them to remember but then she realizes that she cannot hold on to them
forever and actually sets them free. As for E for L the poem on a whole is provocative and angry and
this can be seen with multiple and ruthless acts of murder that he commits with no mercy at all. These
include I squash flies against the window and I pour the gold fish down the bog these acts of murder
emphasize how dangerous, psychotic and deluded this person really is. They also highlight

Also, there are many types of disorders to be picked from. Depression is one of the most major and
easily identifiable, though people tend to hide it away. Depression is a mood disorder that causes a
persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Also called major depressive disorder or clinical
depression, it affects how you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and
physical problems. To trace it back in history, the first signs of it emerged around the 5th century B.C.
and was originally called melancholia. At the time, it was considered to be a form of demonic
possession only to be cured by noble priests. The first understandings were that it was a spiritual
problem rather than a physical one. Literature of the time was filled with references to mental illness
caused by spirits or demons. The early Babylonian, Chinese, and Egyptian civilizations also viewed
mental illness as a form of demonic possession, and used exorcism techniques (such as beatings,
restraint, and starvation) designed to drive demons out of the afflicted person s body as treatments. In
one of hippocrates works, he recommended diet, exercise, distraction, travel, purgatives (cleansers that

Erikson s Stages Of Psychosocial Analysis
Erikson s first three stages of psychosocial development Basic trust or distrust: It is the first stage.
This is where the sense of personal and society confidence of the infant is developed through the
quality of early care. Good quality early care brings the virtue of hope, which made the foundation for
faith. Autonomy or shame and doubt: It is the second stage. This is where the child interacts with the
world in new ways, and the sense of autonomy is encouraged by free will. The acquired virtue is the
will that grows up to be the basis of adult recognition that manifest a spirit of justice. Initiative or
guilt: This third stage is where the basic activity is the game. Its virtue is the purpose originated in
fantasy and play. It forms the roots of ineraction and adulthood rituals. As a councelor, I need to have
a strong sense of the patient s potential for growth and development. My main job is to foster that
growth and not impose my own expectations and experiences. In my practice, I need to strongly
consider the relationship between clients and their parents since Erikson expresses that transference

Alexis De Tocquevilles Jury System
The jury is a magistracy , as described by Alexis de Tocqueville, happens to be one of the greatest
attributes of the democratic system. The jury is a sworn body of people called together to give an
impartial verdict or to even set a penalty or judgement which is submitted to them by a court. In other
words, they are to decide upon the truth or falseness of factual allegations based on the facts that they
have found. In order to weigh up the evidence and decide the accurate facts of the case, the jury has to

Goldman Sachs s stock price declined $8.40 from $156.98 as of March 31, 2016 to $148.58 as of June
30, 2016. This 5% decrease is largely the result of poor performance in an uncertain and volatile
macroeconomic environment. The Company s revenue in the first quarter of 2016 decreased $4.28
billion as compared to the first quarter of 2015, falling from $10.62 billion in Q1 2015 to $6.34 billion
in Q1 of 2016. This 40% decline can be attributed to historically low oil prices, investor uncertainty
regarding the outlook of the global economy, and a sharp decline in revenue from investment banking
activities. While conditions moderately improved in Q2 2016, the financial sector faces a new wave of
uncertainty in the wake of Britain s departure from the European Union. Following Britain s historic
referendum, shares of Goldman Sachs fell 6.1%, as reported by the Financial Times. As such, the
Company has begun cutting costs, most notably by urging executives to dial back costs associated
with travel to clients. Additionally, the Company has laid off dozens of employees in response to the
slowdown in investment banking activities. The decrease in Goldman Sachs s stock price reflects the
uncertainty and turbulence of the current economic environment. Wal Mart s stock price increased

Similarities Between Batman And The Joker
In today s time and age, I don t think we will come across anyone, who is oblivious of the legendary
pair of a hero and a villain; batman and the joker. Those who haven t read the comics, must have

The joker is seen as a villain. There are a lot of variations in the stories involving these two as it has
been incarnated a lot times, but their characters remain the same. The relationship between these two
is a representation of yin and yang . Batman is a depiction of hope. Batman was the answer to a lot of

of his existence is too complicated and often, it is he, who narrates a different story every time which
in turn makes him even harder comprehend because you don t know at one point, what to believe and
what not to believe. He told Batman in Alan Moore s graphic novel: The Killing Joke Sometimes I

He derived pleasure from manipulating people and got a kick out of it, he knew exactly what to say

full of scars and in some versions, with his bright colored hair and bleached skin, always with that
maniac, chilling laughter which always makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. He has no
personal agenda to all the brutality he inflicts, no thirst for revenge or materialistic goals made him

effectively, listen to their employees, understand their employees, and their employees trust them. The
leader s performance was severely affected from lack of people skills. Communication, emotional IQ,
and personality were all areas that the leader needed to improve upon. Communication was identified
multiple times in the peer review and evaluation as a deficiency. The leader s lack of communication
directly led to a loss of productivity in the department. Furthermore, employees felt that they were not

Similarities Between Beauty And The Beast And Shrek
As children most of the fairy tales we were told about always involved a beautiful princess, a prince
charming and a happily ever after . Among those are Snow White and Cinderella, who are both
mistreated by their evil stepmothers, go through difficulties but at the end they find happiness. Almost
all these fairy tales emphasize the beauty of the female and male protagonists. They also mostly end in
the princess falling in love with the prince, often after the first kiss. For many of us in the real world,
this would be the ideal way to fall in love with someone and quite a dream come true. However, there
s one fairy tale that gives a different message on what true love is. In the story Beauty and the Beast
and the movie Shrek, Beauty and Shrek fall in love with people who are their complete opposites, not
by the way they look but the way they are. The ending to both stories bring surprises as they both find
out that they re not so different after all. The transformation of Princess Fiona into an ogress and the
Beast into a human is not necessary to show a happy ending. In Beauty and the Beast, Beauty is noble
and sweet. She is forced to live with a beast in his castle. At first she s scared but as the day passes,
she begins to enjoy his company. She visits her father and one night, she dreams that the Beast is
dying. She runs back to the castle and pleads for him not to die. As she hugs him, she agrees to marry
him, something he had asked her long before but she had refused. As she mutters these words and to
her surprise, the Beast transforms into a handsome prince. Shrek is a green ogre who enjoys solitude
and keeping to himself. He doesn t have any friends and lives in a swamp. After the ruler of Duloc,
Lord Farquaad, sends all the fairy tales to invade Shrek s swamp, he sets out on a journey to find him
and get everyone out of his home. He s accompanied by his soon to become sidekick, Donkey, the
only one to know the way to Duloc. Lord Farquaad in order to become a king needs to marry a
princess. He chooses Princess Fiona, who s locked away in a tower guarded by a dragon. Lord
Farquaad agrees to give Shrek his swamp with the condition that he brings Princess Fiona to him.

The Basics And Controls Of The Dual Locks

So, recollect: There s no such thing as clearing it. When a client bolts a safe by shutting the entryway

Turning the Dial
Dial turning doesn t help open the bolt; it resembles turning your tires each time you head out from the

The following is a less basic dialing arrangement, seen on some more established US made units. You

The fourth mix wheel gives more blend potential outcomes (a sum of 100,000,000) and requires

Love And Egyptian Love Songs
In the ancient near East, the Egyptian Love Songs are love songs that teach lovers how to make love
and motivate them to make love well. In the biblical realm, making love was an intense work such as
their everyday activities like farming, eating, fighting, learning, and offering sacrifice. The language
and imagery describing one is often used to describe another. Erotica teaches lovers how to arouse
each of the five senses. The songs are full of images of touching, tasting, smelling, hearing, and
seeing. These Egyptian love songs are possible to be a thousand years older than the songs in Songs of
Songs. The Egyptian Love Songs and the Songs of Songs are very similar. The Egyptian Love Songs
and the Songs of Songs are both about young lovers expressing love to one another. When conducting
my research, I found many differences between the two. To make things easier, I had broken up these
differences into three categories. The first category was speech. While the Songs of Songs is
expressing two lovers interacting in dialogue, the Egyptian Love Songs interacts by monologues. The
Egyptian Love Songs are mostly soliloquies that have been dramatized by one of the lovers speaking.
In the Song of Songs, they use a dialogue throughout their time of communication. The two lovers
speak and listen to each other. They go onto respond to the sounds they hear and continue to echo each
other. As we move further along into the many differences between the Egyptian Love Songs and The

The Benefits Of Time Travel
Although time travel has long been since considered as fable, there have been studies and theories that
appeared supporting the time travel. Einstein s theory of relativity supports time travel and with this
scientists have come up with theories of time travel. Other theories and many experiments have been
conducted to try and prove the possibility of time travel for humans. Einstein s theory of relativity
determined that the speed of light within a vacuum is constant no matter the speed at which the
observer is traveling and with this found out that space and time were intertwined together in a
continuum identified as space time. In the theory of special relativity, time is said to move slower or
faster depending on the observer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Travelling to the future is said to be easy. Einstein s theory of special relativity shows that for people
who are moving relative to one another time passes at different rates, although the effect is only
considerable when you travel near the speed of light. Let us say that you travelled in space at about
99.5% of the speed of light. The year you have spent is space would be lesser than the time that passed
on Earth until you get back home. Many years have gone by on Earth while you have only spent a few
years in space. Travelling to the speed of light cannot be yet achieved as of today s technology. There
would be a great need for an unimaginable amount of energy to travel near the speed of light. But time
travel to the future has already happened. Cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev travelled through time and holds
the longest amount of time spent in space with 803 days. He orbited around the Earth travelling at
around 7.66 km/s. Because of the high speed travel and length of time he spent in space; he arrived
back in Earth 0.02 seconds in the future which is also due to time dilation. Although, he only travelled
seconds in the future and not like the 5 years or more in the future he was still able to arrive earlier
without travelling in the speed of light. Time travel can also occur in gravitational fields as stated in
the theory of general relativity. Einstein predicted that time passed more slowly for objects in
gravitational

Comparing Canterbury Tales And The Pardoner s Tale
In The Canterbury Tales, the Host tells the pilgrims he will be grading their tales based on two factors:
moral education and entertainment value. Moral education comprises a lifelong process which growth
in responsibility and freedom. The two tales that must be decided between are The Knight s Tale and
The Pardoner s Tale, both tales were spectacular; however, The Knight s Tale best incorporates moral
education and entertainment value. The Knight s Tale has a good interpretation on moral education
that comes from Arcite and Palamon falling in love with the same woman, Emily. The Knight s Tale
also has a good interpretation on entertainment based upon the whole story as a whole as an
action/romance type story. Moral education is influenced by many different agencies in society. In The
Knight s Tale, one can see how moral education is interpreted based upon Arcite and Palamon both
falling in love with Emily at the same time. Palamon and Arcite are cousins and brothers by
knighthood; they were taken as prisoners of war by Duke Theseus in Athens, never to be released. On

In the vision of the Internet of Things (IoT), an expanding number of installed gadgets of various
kinds (e.g., sensors, cellular telephones, cameras, smart meters, brilliant autos, traffic lights, savvy

Research Paper On Walt Disneyland
Walt Disney and Disneyland
When the subject of the Disney Enterprises is brought up, one often thinks of cartoons, musicals or
other movies, amusement parks, and famous characters such as Mickey Mouse.
And now, nearly four decades after his death, the maker of said creations, Walt Disney, is not nearly as
recognized as he should be. Not only are his works and other projects intriguing, his morals and
techniques personally behind them are as well. And yet they weren t just his morals, they were shared
by the country s people who so desired an example of good principles. Perhaps the most significant

The standard morals of the country were undergoing a transformation. Walt Disney recognized this
and sought to provide an outlet for those longing for the ethics from the days of yore.

pristine never never land in which children s fantasies come true, happiness reigns, and innocence is

Disney s target audience was young and children were much more apparent than before, due to the
postwar baby boom , so by filling his projects with good values and happiness he was able to instill
them into his audience at a young age.
While making animated films projected at youth and at others who Disney hoped to infuse innocence
into, being the entrepreneur he was, he also had to keep in mind the business of his company. Disney
wanted to promote the carelessness of being young, and desired to show even adults that they, too,
could be happy and relaxed. Being able to do so and keep audiences of all ages interested enough to
save his company from bankruptcy is indeed a challenge. Nevertheless, Disney was able to generate
films that people of many different generations to enjoy, and all the while become extremely
successful.

A Career As A Dietitian
I m interested in this field because I can relate to this stuff and dieting because I ve basically almost
have done this for most of my life. Nobody inspired me to be a dietitian. It s just something I was
interested in, but my mom really wants me to do it because she thinks it will help me manage my
diabetes and celiac. I wanted to research a dietitian for this research paper because it s something I
want to be when i grow up. A definition for a dietitian is An expert on editing and nutrition. The duties
and responsibilities as a dietitian would be that you have a lot of face to face appointments. During
those appointments you have to educate your patient on a cardiac diet. The location doesn t
necessarily matters. Everyone needs a dietitian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

disease. (Dietitian and Nutritionists). I choose this career to research because it s a job I m interested
in. It will help me in the future, and help me become healthier and manage my diabetes and celiac
disease better. To be honest what I m looking forward to getting paid and just doing the job that I ve
wanted to do. I m looking forward to this job career when I m older. For anyone who is interested I

Impact of Multiple Generations in the Workplace Essay...
SUBJECT: An analysis of two articles about the impact of multiple generations on the workplace With
every generation comes a lifestyle with unique ideas, values and language. Accounting Today
recognizes the importance of generations and their effects on the business field in its articles Bridging
the Gaps by Jennifer Wilson and The Way We Learn Now, by Jennifer Wilson and Krista Remer. This
memo summarizes these articles, analyzes the formation of each generation, and identifies advantages
of a multigenerational workplace. Summaries of the Articles Bridging the Gaps began by defining the
three most dominant generations in the workforce: Baby Boomers (those born between 1946 and
1964), Generation X (those born between 1965 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Millikan believes that when presenting new information, companies should incorporate multiple
teaching techniques in order to overcome these generational differences. Kraftchick, however,
believes that companies should communicate to their employers by switching their technique
throughout the presentation. A Personal Response to the Articles I believe Wilson makes a strong point
in Bridging the Gaps when she discusses the importance of businesses encouraging generations to
work together in areas where their preferences and beliefs overlap. If people born in different
generations blindly work together to complete assignments, odds are their differences will cause
conflict (unless this assignment involves an area in which they have similarities). These conflicts will
create friction that will sap an organization s efficiency as the groups argue their points. By
strategically matching workers with tasks that take into account their generational similarities; these
problems can often be avoided. In some cases, however, I believe disagreements can lead to new ideas
and even personal growth. Marian Millikan from The Way We Learn Now draws an accurate
conclusion when she says that to effectively teach all generations of employees new information, it
should be presented in multiple ways simultaneously. For example, the speaker could use PowerPoint
and animations to engage younger generations and also pass out an outline of the

What Leadership Lessons Were Learned From The Everette...
Describe in Details Transformational, Transactional Leadership; Differences and Examples
Leadership development is a multi billion dollar industry in the United States and Europe. This essay
discusses the difference in transformational and transactional leadership styles and provide examples.
Transformational leadership is developmental and usually begins with a transactional approach. First,
transactional leader s behavior approach is management by exception. This leader puts out fires by
taking corrective actions to solve the problem. Additionally, he/she uses contingent reward behavior:
rewards an employee for doing a good job. Both concepts have proven to be effective. Something as
simple as a pat on the back brings about a greater ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the start, NASA faced political pressure to be and stay number one in the space race against the
Soviet Union. In addition, the shuttle s safety overview program was outsourced. As a consequence,
communication problems arose. Furthermore, NASA rewrote the safety protocol to include falling
debris as an acceptable risk even though engineers found it to be a concern. These engineers were
...shut off from voicing their opinion. Therefore, the lack of communication and risk management
were crucial issues that caused the disaster from a team members perception.
Finally, the Columbia Mission Case Study can be utilized to make my leadership strong because I
identified some major areas in need of improvement: group think, communication and risk
management. My perception of the simulation hat there were bias interpretation, message distortion
and uneven communication among the team. On several occasion one team member abruptly
interrupted and failed to listen to the others. It is these kinds of communication problems that I would

Cleveland Indians Argumentative Essay
The Cleveland Indians are a baseball team founded in 1894 (cleveland.indians.mlb.com). Although the
name is obviously racist, in 1894 there unfortunately was not as large of public concern regarding the
treatment of Native Americans. Now, the name is deemed to be offensive, as it should be. The logo
depicts a Native American referred to as Chief Wahoo, an aspect of the team that also creates public
scrutiny. For these reasons, the Cleveland Indians are changing their logo. However, the
implementation of the decision will be put off a year and the team will continue using the name.
Moreover, the logo will still be available on merchandize, enabling the team to profit off of racist
insignia. In 2014, president and CEO of the Cleveland Indians, Mark Shapiro, had already limited the
use of the logo. Thus, evidently, the Cleveland Indians are not doing enough to combat the prejudice
and insensitivity they exhibit through their team name, mascot and logo. The team also is clearly only
publicizing their supposedly monumental, yet actually minute, decision in order to boost public
perception of the organization. This is not a decision done in order to do the right thing; it is a

Redskin is a racial slur and the use of the word is one of the worst examples of a sport team having a
offensive name. Nevertheless, nearly four in five Americans don t think a name change for the team
should be required (ap gfkpoll.com). This lack of consensus about the fact that sports teams shouldn t
be racially insensitive reveals a larger epidemic. The name of these sports teams become so beloved to
some people that they will not be able to change unless the fans realize that the names, logos and
racism present in the teams impotence to modify these aspects are wrong. Fans need to learn to
separate the racism of the monikers from their support of the

How did the Second World War and subsequent Allied occupation affect the development of Japan?
Introduction The Second World War was the bloodiest conflict in the history of humanity. It has
largely affected the evolution of many nations throughout the whole globe. This essay focuses on the
impact of World War II and successive Allied occupation on the vector of development of the Japanese
state. In this paper, I will argue that those events had a huge impact on every sector of the Japanese
state development. Moreover, I will argue that the results of those events were mostly positive for the
Asian state. My essay will be structured in the following way. Firstly, I will analyze the economic
change, which occurred as a result of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many large cities, industries and transportation networks were heavily damaged. Additionally, the
conflicts took the lives of many Japanese citizens, who largely contributed to the economic activity
before the war. However, in my view, Cohen has underestimated the benefits that economic
concentration on military, brought to the postwar Japanese economic development. In accordance with
John Dower, during the war period, there was a huge increase in the production of machinery (252%),
nonferrous metals (70%), steel (46%) and manufacturing (24%), which was extremely beneficial for
the after war economic growth. Personally, I assume that Dower was right and without the rapid
increase in these industries, Japan would not be able to achieve its postwar economic prosperity. A
good verification of this argument is that after the war was over, many of the wartime companies
(Toyota, Nissan, Normura Securities, Toshiba) were successfully transformed into peaceful and
prosperous commercial corporations, which exist until today. Kenneth Pyle argued that nationalistic
and military goals of these companies were quickly replaced by commercial aims gun factories started
to make sewing machines and optical vehicle manufactories began to produce cameras . The
Occupation of Japan, which was the result of Japan s defeat in the World War, was destined to change
the economy of the state and turn it into a western style

The Federal Budget Deficit And National Debt
The Federal Budget Deficit and National Debt Basically, what the federal budget deficit is a shortage
of funds that are available for the government, where more money is being spent than what the
government receives. But, national is where the government borrows money through various ways.
The data for national debt and federal budget deficit from the year 2001 2013 is given in the chart
above. As we can see in the graph, the deficit is still remains in our economy even though there had
been a surplus in 1999 to 2001. But, we could see a lot if decreases such as from the year 2004 2007,
2009 2010 and also from 201 2014, but generally the deficit kept increasing yearly. The data provided
is in trillions and a positive value means ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the graph above, for instance, we could say that the budget deficit increased rapidly from 2007
2009 and we could say that the main is due to the Great Recession. The governments act trying to
counter attack this effect by improving fiscal policy for the betterment of business cycle lead to more
outlay than revenue, which resulted in the increase of the deficit promptly. So, therefore borrowing the
money to deal with deficit lead to increase in the national debt. Crowding out occurs when spending
by an individual or an organisation or to be more precise, private spending decreases and by
increasing the government spending. People sometimes use this as an alternative replacement and lets
the government to spend more. This is a very big problem causer because as the government decided
to spend more, it leads to higher budget deficit and debt and the overall spending may decline rapidly.
So, therefore if they let the government to spend more instead of them it results to the lesser
consumption of resources and spending on it. This can lead to decreasing the interest rates which
results in less investment by people and major drop in the business sector. In order to shift the
economy up from the times and effect of the great recession, government tend to raise the budgets at
times, government give more outlays in the form of social security and other fiscal policy techniques.
As a result, the government borrows capital to pay for this,

  • 2. Photoshop in Business and Society Businesses have countless applications for the computer software known as Photoshop. The software is such an integrated part of society that businesses and scholarly articles assume people have prior knowledge of what it is and what it does. Photoshop is defined by Oxford as trademarked digital image editing software to alter photographic images. It is an industry standard for digital graphics and has many applications to various businesses and media. Lev Manovich wrote in Inside Photoshop that to count up the number of options in Photoshop and then count all the options each option subsequently contains, that the total number of options the software allows for would be in the thousands. Professionals in media, education, research, and many businesses utilize the software. However, there is controversy surrounding the use of Photoshop in advertisements that edited models to unrealistic levels, because of the impact those images have on society. Nonetheless, Photoshop is widely used and has revolutionized business and integrated into many industries not limited to media or photography. Photoshop has a brief history since it has only been around for almost three decades. At the end of the 1980s, it was beginning to be developed as a way of procrastination by Thomas Knoll, a University of Michigan graduate student and doctoral candidate in computer vision. Knoll was trying to write programming code to display gray scale computer images on a black and white bitmap monitor as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Summary Of The Overcoat By Nikolai Gogol In a time of large, corrupt, and ineffective bureaucracy, Nikolai Gogol looks provide a humorous perspective on life in Tsarist Russia. Through both The Nose and The Overcoat, Gogol reveals his true nature as a comical humorist with the intention of giving readers a laugh but also of mocking human vanity. From the very beginning of The Overcoat, it becomes clear the story has a comedic nature. While explaining to the reader the touchiness of departments in Russia, Gogol gives the district police chief as an example: He plainly demonstrated that all the imperial institutions were going to the dogs, and that the Czar s sacred name was being taken in vain; and in proof he appended to the complain a romance, in which the district chief of police is made to appear about once in every ten pages, and sometimes in a downright drunken condition (Gogol 1). The scenario Gogol describes is one of absurdity. How could someone get so worked up over a book that has no intent of offending them? No normal person would ever become so hysterical over a piece of literature that indirectly offends them. Claiming that the whole political system of Russia is being destroyed and that royalty had been disgraced because of a simple character in a book that resembles oneself is preposterous. To a rational mind, the police chief s over emotional reaction is clearly insane, as a normal person does not have the narcissism to take minute details personally. This laughable situation ... • 5. Experimental Procedures Of An Ige Antibody There were several experimental procedures that were performed by Bayry et al that allowed for this experiment to be performed. One of these procedures included treatment of an IgE antibody that is produced specifically in mice, SPE7 with heme using the technique immunoblotting to determine the polyreactivity of heme and the resulting consequences of the reaction. Immunoblotting, also known as western blotting, is a type of an assay that is specifically used for the detection and characterization of proteins1. According to Gallagher and Chakavarti, immunoblotting works by exploiting the specificity inherent in antigen antibody recognition5. It involves the solubilization and electrophoretic separation of proteins, glycoproteins, or lipopolysaccharides by gel electrophoresis, followed by quantitative transfer and irreversible binding to nitrocellulose, PVDF, or nylon5. The immunoblotting technique has been useful in identifying specific antigens recognized by polyclonal or monoclonal antibodies and is highly sensitive5. This unit provides protocols for protein separation, blotting proteins onto membranes, immunoprobing, and visualization5. Another technique used was an Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay or ELISA. The purpose of an ELISA is to determine if a particular protein is present in a sample and if so, how much6. There are two main variations on this method and whichever one is used depends on the type of experiment that is being run. One can determine how much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, a religion teaches us how to think, how to act, and basically everything except what to eat in the morning. The Hindu and Christian religion agree on many things and our society follows some of the rules too because religion and laws are based on humanity. From holy literature many different ideas have been pawned but they are all supposed to lead you to the same things: a happy, healthy life, contribution to the world around us, and some kind of liberation after death. Concerning these ideals the Hindu religion has come up with three ways to make sure that everybody will get what they want out of life and those are the four ... The stage of forest dweller is very much life the family man stage but there are three main differences, he can retire to a forest, he has no obligation to pay back society or work and he is supposed to spend time reading the Vedas. After that if he wants to be ultra holy you can detach from life by staging your own social death and do nothing but pursue salvific knowledge. Many people in The United States lead a life almost exactly like this. They start off as a student to learn knowledge for jobs and spiritual journeys later in life. The law requires that we go to school until atleast 16 and most of our parents require us to go to church. If you do not go to school there are consequences in each religion and to receive awards you must be first be a student. In our culture today we can live off of the government. The next stage of life Hindu life is like American life because most of us start families and provide for them and a lot of us do things for society like working at a research university or donating clothes to charity. In fact our society rewards charity by giving us tax exemption and Nobel peace prizes for science achievements and discoveries. The Christian and Jewish religion stress that you must do things for society to be a better human being. • 8. Reintroducing Wolves to Yellowstone National Park Reintroducing Wolves to Yellowstone National Park The area of Yellowstone National Park has a long history of inhabitants, even before it became the nation s first national park. In the area now known as Yellowstone National Park, wolves were once very prominent. However due to westward expansion in the 1800s, agriculture began to increase. This led to the wolves that once thrived in this area to being practically completely removed. The increase in agriculture in this region led to a lot of the wolves prey becoming reduced or eliminated. Since the wolves had a decrease in prey, the wolves began to prey on domestic animals, which then resulted in humans eliminating the wolves almost completely. By the 1930s the wolf was eliminated from the area. This was before people had an understanding of how ecosystems work and the interrelation of species. Now that the wolves were gone, elk then became overpopulated. A lot of the vegetation began to disappear as well due to the overgrazing of the elk. However after about a 70 year absence, in 1995 the wolves were carefully brought back to Yellowstone. When they brought the wolves back to the park, there was not just an effect on one species or one area but rather they affected the entire ecosystem of the area. I will discuss their effects on areas such elk, beaver colonies, scavengers, aspen trees, willow trees and cottonwood trees. Once the wolves were brought back into Yellowstone, immediately the elk population began decreasing. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Which has appeared in other articles related to research based on Hsp72 (Peart et al., 2011). For this experimental procedure factors needed to be controlled to ensure they had no effect on results for example, uptake of nutrients and environmental conditions. These were controlled by having a period of fasting and specific carbohydrate drinks to drink during exercise and the room temperature kept at 21±1°c. Although these are good points for the method, it also comes into criticism as well. Firstly the use of a catheter in the antecubital vein with no mention on how stressful this could be on the subjects. An improvement on this method would be to take blood samples without a catheter either at the start and end of the exercise session or at intervals during the session (Magalhães et al., 2010). Secondary the use of only 6 highly trained men with a mean age range of 26±2 years as a sample size, this doesn t fairly represent the population and from my research I can find no large size study for this topic with the greatest sample size being 16 men (Périard, Ruell, Caillaud, Thompson, ... And like in most cases, the disagreement turned into a war. The US was divided into the North and South; one side strongly for slavery, and one strongly against. Everyone thought that they could live this way, divided, in harmony, but they were wrong. Southern states began to secede, and a month later war broke out. Why did Texans fight in the Civil War? The residents of Texas fought because they loved Texas, they wanted to have states rights, and they wanted to protect slavery. Texans participated in the Civil War because they loved Texas. Texans fought in the Civil War because residents loved Texas, they felt a strong desire for states rights, and believed slavery should be preserved. I think that slavery is wrong and inhumane. • 11. The Backyard Of My Father s Rickety House Essay There used to be a small town in the backyard of my father s rickety house. It wasn t constructed by carpenters or designed by architects. This primitive village was built by children with overactive imaginations and an abundance of time. In fact, I was the one, who came up with the idea to build it. During the summer of 2010, my two stepsisters and I had exhausted all of our summer activity options. Everyday, we were in the pool or riding our shiny bikes up and down the gravel driveway. Even though I only visited my father for a week at most, I couldn t help, but feel like these activities were becoming repetitive and unenjoyable. Commonly, this would cause anyone to search for something else more interesting to spend their time on. I found that something to be an untouched wooded area on the side of my father s property. No one usually went near there due to the glass and the creatures living under the leaves. Whenever it would rain, snakes would emerge from those woods to play in the puddles near our house. Needless to say, it took a few years for a group of girls to work up the courage to explore the snake s natural habitat. Before my step sisters and I started to clear the forest, we had to ask for permission to use our parent s yard tools. Scientists have used animals for biomedical research to help further their limited understanding of anatomy and physiology for thousands of years. It could be argued that the use of animal testing in the past has led to the current level of understanding and medical research that has saved many lives. However, the techniques used by Aristotle and others should now be considered antiquated. There is technology available today that makes animal testing unnecessary, but greed has caused major companies to continue testing on animals because it is less expensive than investing in cruelty free methods. Recognizing this need, Stanford University developed the edTPA (formerly Teacher Performance Assessment) to specifically measure teacher readiness/effectiveness. Out of 1,808 portfolios (which were double scored independently) the scorers assigned either the same or adjacent scores with total agreement in nearly all cases (93.3%). While that speaks well for the scorer reliability, as far as appropriate sampling for validation and norming the edTPA appears to fall short. There are several mentions of small sample sizes and differences in group sizes preventing any strong generalizations or conclusions. Some sample sizes are as large as several thousand while others fewer than 10, creating the opportunity for instability. Reliability The next condition that should be closely reviewed when evaluating a performance assessment is reliability (Rudner, 1994). As discussed above the inter rater reliability for the edTPA seems to be very reliable. Ten percent of portfolios are randomly double scored to examine scorer rates, and the results provide evidence of high total agreement. According to the 2014 edTPA Administrative Report the overall reliability coefficient across all fields was 0.923, indicating a high level of consistency across the rubrics, establishing that the rubrics as a group are successfully measuring a common construct of teacher readiness. Due to the location, the drug trade has found its perfect home, vast mountains and forests enable huge farms to produce and ship drugs to any region they want. Whether it is Colombia, Peru or one of the many countries found to be in this vast collection of drug trafficking, it is apparent that they all share similar geographies that allow the trade to continue. As a result of this, countries in this region have been subjugated to many imperialistic like efforts to eradicate this growing issue, regardless of involvement. Through the use of diplomacy and past military intervention, the U.S. and other countries have tried to keep a grip on the ever growing drug ring surrounding this area. Unfortunately, it has become evident that the effort given by the U.S. is not enough to combat this ever growing and secure market. Drug trafficking first started to show itself in Latin America during the years from the 1960s to 1970s, when the use of drugs began to become more popular throughout the youth of this period ( Crandal ). During this time, the people in these exporting countries started to see a large growth in the revenues brought upon by the trafficking, and rural communities began to supply more and more drugs, beginning with Marijuana, but eventually becoming a much larger exporter of cocaine( Drug Trafficking ). • 22. How do the Poets Explore the Theme of Death in Educating... Tone is very important in poetry as it plays a role in the way the characters within the poem are portrayed, the way we perceive the writers intentions and it sets the mood when reading the poem. This can clearly be seen with mother in a refugee camp as the poem overall has a very hopeless and harsh tone and this can be seen when the narrator of the poem say, She soon would have to forget in the context that the death of the child is inevitable and they are hopeless as they cannot defy destiny. This is also harsh as the poet does not cover up death with euphemisms but is very straight forward saying that there is no other choice other than to forget. When it comes to describing the mother it becomes a very gentle and caring tone and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The pleading tone can be seen in the poem when Dylan Thomas says, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. This comes as plea to his dad to fight death and not give in and this also emphasizes Dylan Thomas s desperation for his father to wake up and not give in. On the other hand with Remember the tone develops as you go through the poem and it goes from a commanding tone to one that is accepting towards the end and this can be seen when Christina Rossetti says, Better by far you should forget and smile than that you should remember and be sad. This shows us that the character actually cares about the feelings of the person that loves her as she would rather that they forget and be happy than for them to remember and be sad. This development of tone comes as a natural due to the fact that the nature of the poem is a sonnet. Sonnets tend to convey a problem in the first octave and find the solution to that problem in the last sestet and this can clearly be seen in remember as she is telling them to remember but then she realizes that she cannot hold on to them forever and actually sets them free. As for E for L the poem on a whole is provocative and angry and this can be seen with multiple and ruthless acts of murder that he commits with no mercy at all. These include I squash flies against the window and I pour the gold fish down the bog these acts of murder emphasize how dangerous, psychotic and deluded this person really is. As suburban America witnesses urban violence invading it s schools, homes, and neighborhoods, Disney becomes a symbol for the security and romance of the small town America of yesteryear a pristine never never land in which children s fantasies come true, happiness reigns, and innocence is kept safe through the magic of pixie dust. Disney s target audience was young and children were much more apparent than before, due to the postwar baby boom , so by filling his projects with good values and happiness he was able to instill them into his audience at a young age. While making animated films projected at youth and at others who Disney hoped to infuse innocence into, being the entrepreneur he was, he also had to keep in mind the business of his company. Disney wanted to promote the carelessness of being young, and desired to show even adults that they, too, could be happy and relaxed. Being able to do so and keep audiences of all ages interested enough to save his company from bankruptcy is indeed a challenge. Nevertheless, Disney was able to generate films that people of many different generations to enjoy, and all the while become extremely successful. Disney [defined] innocence as part of ... SUBJECT: An analysis of two articles about the impact of multiple generations on the workplace With every generation comes a lifestyle with unique ideas, values and language. Accounting Today recognizes the importance of generations and their effects on the business field in its articles Bridging the Gaps by Jennifer Wilson and The Way We Learn Now, by Jennifer Wilson and Krista Remer. This memo summarizes these articles, analyzes the formation of each generation, and identifies advantages of a multigenerational workplace. Summaries of the Articles Bridging the Gaps began by defining the three most dominant generations in the workforce: Baby Boomers (those born between 1946 and 1964), Generation X (those born between 1965 ... Millikan believes that when presenting new information, companies should incorporate multiple teaching techniques in order to overcome these generational differences. Kraftchick, however, believes that companies should communicate to their employers by switching their technique throughout the presentation. A Personal Response to the Articles I believe Wilson makes a strong point in Bridging the Gaps when she discusses the importance of businesses encouraging generations to work together in areas where their preferences and beliefs overlap. If people born in different generations blindly work together to complete assignments, odds are their differences will cause conflict (unless this assignment involves an area in which they have similarities). These conflicts will create friction that will sap an organization s efficiency as the groups argue their points. By strategically matching workers with tasks that take into account their generational similarities; these problems can often be avoided. In some cases, however, I believe disagreements can lead to new ideas and even personal growth. Marian Millikan from The Way We Learn Now draws an accurate conclusion when she says that to effectively teach all generations of employees new information, it should be presented in multiple ways simultaneously. For example, the speaker could use PowerPoint and animations to engage younger generations and also pass out an outline of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Describe in Details Transformational, Transactional Leadership; Differences and Examples Leadership development is a multi billion dollar industry in the United States and Europe. This essay discusses the difference in transformational and transactional leadership styles and provide examples. Transformational leadership is developmental and usually begins with a transactional approach. First, transactional leader s behavior approach is management by exception. This leader puts out fires by taking corrective actions to solve the problem. Additionally, he/she uses contingent reward behavior: rewards an employee for doing a good job. • 46. Cleveland Indians Argumentative Essay The Cleveland Indians are a baseball team founded in 1894 (cleveland.indians.mlb.com). Although the name is obviously racist, in 1894 there unfortunately was not as large of public concern regarding the treatment of Native Americans. Now, the name is deemed to be offensive, as it should be. The logo depicts a Native American referred to as Chief Wahoo, an aspect of the team that also creates public scrutiny. For these reasons, the Cleveland Indians are changing their logo. However, the implementation of the decision will be put off a year and the team will continue using the name. Moreover, the logo will still be available on merchandize, enabling the team to profit off of racist insignia. In 2014, president and CEO of the Cleveland Indians, Mark Shapiro, had already limited the use of the logo. Thus, evidently, the Cleveland Indians are not doing enough to combat the prejudice and insensitivity they exhibit through their team name, mascot and logo. The team also is clearly only publicizing their supposedly monumental, yet actually minute, decision in order to boost public perception of the organization. Introduction The Second World War was the bloodiest conflict in the history of humanity. It has largely affected the evolution of many nations throughout the whole globe. This essay focuses on the impact of World War II and successive Allied occupation on the vector of development of the Japanese state. In this paper, I will argue that those events had a huge impact on every sector of the Japanese state development. Moreover, I will argue that the results of those events were mostly positive for the Asian state. My essay will be structured in the following way. Firstly, I will analyze the economic change, which occurred as a result of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many large cities, industries and transportation networks were heavily damaged. Additionally, the conflicts took the lives of many Japanese citizens, who largely contributed to the economic activity before the war. However, in my view, Cohen has underestimated the benefits that economic concentration on military, brought to the postwar Japanese economic development. In accordance with John Dower, during the war period, there was a huge increase in the production of machinery (252%), nonferrous metals (70%), steel (46%) and manufacturing (24%), which was extremely beneficial for the after war economic growth. Personally, I assume that Dower was right and without the rapid increase in these industries, Japan would not be able to achieve its postwar economic prosperity. A good verification of this argument is that after the war was over, many of the wartime companies (Toyota, Nissan, Normura Securities, Toshiba) were successfully transformed into peaceful and prosperous commercial corporations, which exist until today. Kenneth Pyle argued that nationalistic and military goals of these companies were quickly replaced by commercial aims gun factories started to make sewing machines and optical vehicle manufactories began to produce cameras . The Federal Budget Deficit And National Debt The Federal Budget Deficit and National Debt Basically, what the federal budget deficit is a shortage of funds that are available for the government, where more money is being spent than what the government receives. But, national is where the government borrows money through various ways. The data for national debt and federal budget deficit from the year 2001 2013 is given in the chart above. As we can see in the graph, the deficit is still remains in our economy even though there had been a surplus in 1999 to 2001. But, we could see a lot if decreases such as from the year 2004 2007, 2009 2010 and also from 201 2014, but generally the deficit kept increasing yearly. From the graph above, for instance, we could say that the budget deficit increased rapidly from 2007 2009 and we could say that the main is due to the Great Recession. The governments act trying to counter attack this effect by improving fiscal policy for the betterment of business cycle lead to more outlay than revenue, which resulted in the increase of the deficit promptly. So, therefore borrowing the money to deal with deficit lead to increase in the national debt. Crowding out occurs when spending by an individual or an organisation or to be more precise, private spending decreases and by increasing the government spending. People sometimes use this as an alternative replacement and lets the government to spend more. This is a very big problem causer because as the government decided to spend more, it leads to higher budget deficit and debt and the overall spending may decline rapidly. So, therefore if they let the government to spend more instead of them it results to the lesser consumption of resources and spending on it. This can lead to decreasing the interest rates which results in less investment by people and major drop in the business sector. In order to shift the economy up from the times and effect of the great recession, government tend to raise the budgets at times, government give more outlays in the form of social security and other fiscal policy techniques.
