Research Topics On Web Mining
RESEARCH ISSUES IN WEB MINING
ABSTRACT
Web is a collection of inter related files on one or more web servers while web mining means
extracting valuable information from web databases. Web mining is one of the data mining domains
where data mining techniques are used for extracting information from the web servers. The web data
includes web pages, web links, objects on the web and web logs. Web mining is used to understand
the customer behaviour, evaluate a particular website based on the information which is stored in web
log files. Web mining is evaluated by using data mining techniques, namely classification, clustering,
and association rules. It has some beneficial areas or applications such as ... Show more content on

1. INTRODUCTION Web mining is the application of data mining technique which is an unstructured
or semi structured data and it automatically discovers and extracts potentially useful and previously
unknown information or knowledge from the web. The significant web mining applications are
website design, web search, search engines, information retrieval, network management, E commerce,
business and artificial intelligence, web market places and web communities. Online business breaks
the barrier of time and space as compared to the physical office business. Big companies around the
world are realizing that e commerce is not just buying and selling over Internet, rather it improves the
efficiency to compete with other giants in the market. This application includes the temporal issues for
the users. []
Web mining has three classifications namely, web content mining, web structure mining and web
usage mining. Each classification is having its own algorithms and tools. Web content mining is
nothing but the discovery of valuable information from web documents and these web documents may
contain text, image, hyperlinks, metadata and structured records. It is used to look at the information
by search engine or web spiders i.e. Google, Yahoo. It is the process of retrieving the useful
information from the web content or web documents. Web structure mining is also a process of

Chronic Insomnia
brain tumors or strokes (Epstein, p.249).
Chronic insomnia was revealed to be in direct relation to a neurochemical imbalance in 2008 that
makes it difficult for the brain to get ready for sleep. Someone who is affected for more than six
months has 30 percent less gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA), which is chemically induced
throughout the brain to slow activity down (McKeever,2008). GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter
that helps regions of the brain shut down by reducing electrical activity (Mehta,2008). This attributes
to overactivity being present at not only the level of excessive thoughts and emotions but at the
nervous system as well (McKeever,2008). Hyperarousal is also a neurobiological state of chronic
insomnia and lower GABA levels are found in people with a major depression disorder and anxiety
disorders that both factor into disturbed sleep (health.com). To support this theory, researchers
collected data on 16 people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this study, 25 people with and 25 people without sleep problems were tested on overnight sleep
patterns and working memory tasks. During the overnight sleep period, the group with insomnia got
about 6 hours of sleep and the group without insomnia averaged 7 hours. The memory task occurred
while the brain was being scanned with functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). People with
insomnia showed less activity in working memory regions and people without showed more. As the
task got harder, people without insomnia showed more activity in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex
and less for people with insomnia (Rettner,2013). With the increased difficulty of the tasks, the group
without were able to control their mind wandering and the group with insomnia were not

Descriptive Essay About Family Vacation
At the end of last year, my father announced that we will be having a family meeting to discuss our
summer vacation plans. Not this again I thought. Every year, when my father announced a family
meeting regarding our vacation plans, he just explains how we re going down to North Carolina to see
our family and then to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. My family and I have been to Myrtle Beach for
the past eight years. Like every year to show appreciation, I attended the family meeting. I remember
how my father had this stupid excited look on his face. He then opened a huge brochure that said
Atlantis Bahamas. I jumped out of my seat in shock, and danced around like an idiot. I was really
excited that I would finally be going to an exotic island and that is not part ... Show more content on

Before I entered the hotel I closed my eyes and walked in. I was greeted to the new smells and the
atmosphere of what it was like to be in the Bahamas. About a half hour later, my family and I were
checked into our hotel room. Our room was a normal sized room with a balcony that viewed the park
and ocean. After we were settled, we went downstairs to the beach. I took my first step into the crystal
clear water and immediately jumped in. The water was so warm, that I did not have to take time to get
used to it. Checked that off my list. The next day, my family and I went to a boat ride to go snuba
diving. Unfortunately, you had to be 18 years or older to go scuba diving. Snuba diving was a different
form of scuba diving. You had a long rod that connected to an oxygen tank. You would then put the air
piece in your mouth and start to breathe. At first, I was afraid to go underwater because I was afraid of
sharks. However, when I went in, I was not afraid when I saw all the cool different types of fish.

The Importance Of Students In Education
While schools work on improving students academic achievement, curriculum, instructional
strategies, and interventions for struggling learners , obstacles still remain for some students in the
behavior category. About one third of students fail to learn because of behavioral issues that interfere
with their capacity to pay attention and participate in educational instruction
School administrators and teachers have become increasingly frustrated with the impact of poor
student behavior on academic achievement in their schools. Teachers continually struggle to master
classroom management strategies that are proactive, preventative, and lead to improved student
achievement but with the implementation of behavior strategies and curriculum schools can take back
the classroom distractions. Approaches aimed at improving school and classroom environmental
behavior is taking place in the form of PBIS, (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support). This
includes reducing the negative effects of disruptive or distracting behaviors and rewarding the positive
behaviors displayed by students. This strategy can enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning
will occur, both for the students demonstrating problem behaviors and for their classmates who are
following the expectations set in place as a school wide system.
In many school s classrooms are generally orderly, teacher student and student student relationships
are positive, and teaching and learning go on without major

The Rapid Growth Of Population Essay
Introduction:
The reason I chose this topic is because in my country Ethiopia the rapid growth of population
alarmed me, just around the 1965 our population was very low however in the past few years it has
tripled form 20 million to over 100 million. This was when my interest in my countries population
developed. Population is one of the conversational topics when talking about a countries profile, in
view of the fact that it plays a huge role, in a countries work force, consumption and economy. I will
be collecting data and modelling them to predict the population for the next 5 to 10 years. I will also
be doing this for Kenya to see the relationship between the two countries to prove that this rapid
growth of population is happening not only in our country but in our neighboring countries too.
The data collected is imprecise because it is affected by many variables. The mortality rate of the
people in Ethiopia can affect my data highly. During this time Ethiopia had a high rate of migration,
this could also be included as one of the variables that have affected my data. I will be using this set of
data to draw a graph so that I can generate a model to represent this data so that I can use it to predict
the population after five years.

Bourdieu s Understanding the Power for Social Change
Bourdieu describes habitus as a power of adaptation. It constantly performs an adaptation to the
outside world which only exceptionally takes the form of radical conversion (Bourdieu, 1993).
Bourdieu s concept of habitus enables us to understand women as a complex amalgam of their past
and present (Bourdieu, 1990a), but an amalgam that is always in the process of completion. There is
no finality or finished identity. At the same time, habitus also includes a set of complex, diverse
predispositions. It invokes understandings of identity premised on familial legacy and early childhood
socialisation. As such, it is primarily a dynamic concept, a rich interlacing of past and present,
interiorised and permeating both body and psyche. Much of the dynamism of habitus is the product of
the interconnection of habitus with Bourdieu s related concept of field. Field is a set of objective,
historical relations between positions anchored in certain forms of power (or capital) (Wacquant in
Bourdieu Wacquant, 1992, p. 16). A dialectic relationship exists be tween the two concepts. In one
direction there is a flow of influence from field to habitus that produces a relationship of conditioning
in which the field structures the habitus. When Bourdieu refers to , is usually referring to the different
types of capitals that one person can acquire. These capitals are economic, linguistic, and cultural
(Bourdieu, 1991). Depending of the quantity of each of these capitals, a person is

Impact Of Endangered Species
This report will be discussing and talking about endangered species and the impacts they have on
ecosystems. Endangered species is a species of animal or plants at risk of extinction because of human
activity, changes in climate, ruining of ecosystems, etc. This report will be split into different sections
discussing different examples of endangered species and the impacts that they have on different
ecosystems.
Blue whales, weighing in at 200 tonnes are the largest ever known animal to live on the planet. Sadly,
after whaling has occurred it has made the species endangered with only 10000 to 25000 remaining.
Blue whales play a significant role in keeping the food chain stable and helping with the reproduction
of other species. In the marine ecosystem whales help control the distribution of food by helping to
keep a stable food chain and ensuring that certain marine species do not overpopulate the ocean,
however, Blue whales are being killed and the food distribution in the ocean is becoming unstable and
causing major changes in the food supply of many other marine life A Blue Whale is able to consume
as much as 40 million krill per day, so the impact on the marine ecosystem would be huge because
overtime krill will overpopulate which causes problems in maintaining a food chain because the more
krill there is the more food they will eat so because of their new overpopulation it could make other
animals become extinct. If Blue Whales become extinct then marine life will

An Analysis Of Ellen Hopkins s You Know My Story
The poem, You Know My Story , is an excerpt from a larger poem, and novel, called Glass by Ellen
Hopkins. The book is the second book in a series of three describing the rollercoaster life of Kristina
Georgia Snow while on drugs. The free verse poetry books were very largely inspired by Hopkins
daughter s own drug addiction (Goodreads). Her daughter, Cristal was very much like Kristina from
the story. She became addicted to the same drug as Kristina and even had a child that was later
adopted by Hopkins, just like the character from the story (Hopkins). The poem is written in a very
interesting way. If someone were to read the poem straight across as literature is meant to be read, the
poem would be very descriptive and tell a short story on just one page. But with many of Hopkins
works, if the poem is read just using the stand alone words or phrases on the right, a new poem is
born. This new poem is a much creepier summary of the larger poem. In this case the new poem reads,
my dive into insanity, no longer perfect, Kristina became the monster (Hopkins). The entire poem has
a very dark mood. It has very deep traces of helplessness and a misplaced self identity for the narrator.
The tone shifts a few times, but throughout it shares the same darkness of the mood. First there is
anger, then sadness and, finally complete vulnerability. Any piece of literature that talks about an
addict of any sort, tends to be very dark and depressing. This poem is no exception to that idea. If a
person was new to the works of Ellen Hopkins, they might not be aware of the fact that her books are
poetry. The free verse style lends itself well to the writing of a novel, but it is not the type of rhyming
poetry that most people are used to. It seems more like a book than a poem at first, yet if reread the
poetic nature is made more noticeable. Hopkins has stated that she doesn t plan out her books
beforehand because her poetry has to flow naturally and too much planning messes with the natural
flow of things (Hopkins).
There is no discernable rhythm or rhyme scheme to this poem. That holds true for most free verse
poems. As previously stated, this type of poetry tends to work well when writing an entire book
comprised of

Race in Amerca
Race, simple external differences linked to other complex internal differences, has historically created
issues in American society. Race and racial inequalities are one of the most vital issues confronting
contemporary U.S. society, explains Sociologist Ronald Takaki. In the past race has had both
biological and social implications across the country.
However, the video Race: The Power of Illusion presents significant evidence refuting the biological
theories of race. Cold Springs Harbor Laboratory instructor Scott Bronson and several high school
students from different ethnicities conducted personal genetic research exploring biological race
theory. Students typed their blood, compared skin tones and took DNA samples. After sending the
samples to a genetics lab, Bronson asked students whom they might expect to be more genetically
similar to in the workshop. The consensus of the students was that they would each be genetically
comparable to others in the group with similar physical attributes.
Noah, a white male expected to be similar to another white male in the group and Mr. Bronson. Two
other students, a male and female of African descent, believed they would similar despite their gender
differences. When the lab work came back, Mr. Bronson and the students evaluated the results and the
students were quite surprised. They discovered those students of African descent had more genetic
differences than the rest of the group combined. Supporting the student s findings

What Is The Difference Between Modern And Modern Society
ompare and contrast traditional and modern society There is nothing more in the world that can arouse
people sympathy than by seeing children and women live in a harsh living environment and being
abused on both mental and physical perspective. In Old society, people are hemmed by their family
honor, inborn mission, society rules. They never have freedom and rights to choose and persuade joy,
dream; they live for their union in their whole life. On the other hand, modern people have democracy
and rights to plan their life, and whom they want to be, but they are also confined by advanced
technology, and social rules, and social norms. Women and children who live in modern society have
much higher social status than old days. However, if you ask, do people who live in nowadays live
better life than those people who live in early society. My answer is no. Although both modern culture
and traditional society are misfortune in their way, I am more sympathetic to those who live in
contemporary society. Both modern people and traditional people are confined by social rules. Both

The Crystal Land Poem Meaning
The Crystal Land: Constructing and Destroying Zembla
By shifting focus to the imagery of crystal, which carries contrasting connotations from the windows
of the previous narrative, Nabokov also shifts the setting from the realm of reality to that of Kinbote s
fantasy. The delicate extravagance generally associated with crystal can be seen as a representation of
the unattainable, subjective realm both internal authors fundamentally strive for. The fact that crystal
is able to refract light due to the presence of lead also supports that as it alludes to the idea of the false
azure projected by the windowpane in Shade s poem. Furthermore, both Zembla and the ambiguous
realm Shade portrays in the first stanza of his poem are dubbed the crystal land. This continual

This can be seen as a parallel to his previous position of observing from a glass house ; he is
imprisoned in his rose stone palace from a corner turret of which one could make out with the help of
field glasses lithe youths (97). While the rose stone doesn t initially seem to belong to the semantic
field of glass, here Nabokov is referring to the rose quartz crystal. By using the word stone, however
he evokes the juxtaposition of nature and glass imagery from the first narrative. By synthesizing the
two symbols here, he can thus shift the meaning of crystal to act as a barrier entrapping the narrator
within his fantasy. Furthermore, by placing Kinbote in the same voyeuristic role as in the first
narrative, Nabokov is able to once again convey Kinbote s inability to transcend his fantasy due to his
dissociation from reality. In effect, by including the fantasy narrative, Nabokov has the freedom for
romanticized invention which allows him to literally imprison Kinbote in a crystal palace. This acts as
a representation of the idea of the glass house explored in the first

Two Party System in U.S. Essay example
The reemergence of the two party system in America during the early to mid 1800s was due greatly to
the battles for states rights and the economic issues of the time. These two topics were closely
associated with each other and they helped contributed to the political struggle between the Democrats
and the Whigs. The political divisions had occurred one part due to Jackson s veto of the re chartering
of the Bank of the United States, the Tariff of Abominations, and the disastrous effects the Panic of
1837 had on the economy. Jackson s veto of the Maysville Road Bill and South Carolina s
nullification of the Tariff of Abominations had an enormous effect on the separations of political

Many harsh criticisms were formed about his plan and as a result, the conflict between the Whigs and
Democrats stiffened and increased the dissection between the two. These economic changes helped to
create political divisions, which ultimately led to a distinct two party system. Many politicians also
made attempts to either increase states rights or to increase those of the federal government. The
debate over states rights led to a further division in political ideologies and consequently strengthened
the two party system. One such debate was over the Maysville Road Bill. When Jackson vetoed the
bill to appropriate federal funds to repair an interstate road, it marked an enormous setback for
nationalism and also the American System. His states rights partiality angered Henry Clay and other
believers in the American system because the veto attacked one of the major components of the
system, a strong infrastructure including roads. Another issue dealing with the rights of the state
governments that divided the nation political was South Carolina s Ordinance of Nullification. In
reaction to the burden that the Tariff of Abominations placed upon the farmers of South Carolina, the
state utilized its right to nullify the federal law. In nullifying the tariff, South Carolina took a bold step
to declare its governmental rights. Jackson s hostile reaction to the South Carolinians created a
growing political division, strengthening the imminent separation

The Is Virtual Reality Rehabilitation For Stroke Patients...
Part 1
Statement of the research problem and hypothesis: According to the second article provided, the
research problem indicated is to verify whether or not virtual reality rehabilitation for stroke patients
causes enjoyment despite the level of difficulty, and if the effects of the rehabilitation will provide
functional benefits for the upper extremity (Chung, et al., 2016). The hypothesis provided in the article
is in regards to the implementation of the given strategies. These strategies will deem necessary the
level of progression through the program to ultimately have the patients carry out the activities while
experiencing a higher level of enjoyment (Chung, et al., 2016).
Identification of the study design: The authors of the article used a mixed method design using
qualitative and quantitative analyses (Chung, et al., 2016). This allows for the collection of data
through various means over time. Due to this, the study design would be considered longitudinal. The
study design is also considered to be a Cohort study because all the patients have a disease in common
in which there is research being done over time on them.
Brief description of the research methodology: Eight out of eleven stroke patients from various
backgrounds were chosen to partake in this study with virtual reality rehabilitation. The three that did
not participate did not meet the criteria which included not having headaches, epilepsy, dizziness, and

information from attending this event. I started my role as a Victim Advocate only four days previous

society does not know how to approach the matter. Here in our community we have had a black cloud

Raoul Wallenberg And The Holocaust
During the Holocaust, around 6 million Jews died of persecution from many groups of people. But
this number could have been much greater if it was not for the efforts of many courageous people.
There is not an exact number of how many people were saved during the Holocaust, but the death toll
would have been much larger if people, like Raoul Wallenberg, did not help. Raoul Wallenberg was a
Swedish businessman and diplomat who showed much moral courage by saving countless Jews during
World War II. Raoul Wallenberg was born on August 4, 1912 in Sweden. He was born into one of the
richest families in Sweden, the Wallenbergs. Since his family was very wealthy, he had the
opportunity to attend college abroad in another continent. In 1931, Wallenberg went to the University
of Michigan at Ann Arbor in the United States to study architecture. He graduated in three and a half
years with a bachelor s degree of Science in Architecture. This bachelor s degree allowed him to come
into contact with many Jews that had escaped from Europe during the early years of persecution while
he was working on architecture in Palestine (Raoul Wallenberg). In June 1944, the War Refugee
Board, or WRB, a U.S. established organization that helped support rescue missions for Jews,
recruited Wallenberg to lead their operations in Budapest, Hungary. When Raoul Wallenberg arrived

Thesis Statement For The Pearl By John Steinbeck
In The Pearl by John Steinbeck, the theme of greed as a destructive force has been shaped strongly

life could have also been changed. As written in the book, The sun was behind them and their long
shadows stalked ahead, and they seemed to carry two towers of darkness with them. (Steinbeck, 88).
Being a parable, The Pearl provides examples of greed and the role of fate in a human s life. If Kino
had never found the pearl, his life and his family s life would not have been changed. They would
have lived in peace forever. But the pearl was found and the evil and greed changed everything in
Kino s life. The happiness was gone. The Pearl tells us about the consequences that may happen if one
allows greed to have a destructive influence on their life. What I liked about the story is that the
development of the characters have been shown throughout the book. For example, Juana in The Pearl
, changed from ...all knowing and all caring...in her role as submissive wife (she) does not have
enough power to make Kino listen to her warnings...her role becomes significant only near the end of
the tragic tale, when the formative events have already occurred. (Wagner Martin, xvii). Kino s ...

Kino says, Hush, he said fiercely. I am a man. Hush. And she was silent, for his voice was command.
(Steinbeck, 58). This showed that after Kino has found the pearl, his actions were influenced by greed.
Also, there was violence in the story. When Juana was about to throw the pearl away, she received a
punch from Kino. He struck her in the face with his clenched fist and she fell among the borders, and
he kicked her in the side. (Steinbeck, 59) His actions were caused by his greed towards his fantasy of
wealth and social class. His senses were dulled by his emotion. (Steinbeck,

The next Harlequin image is again inverted and can be seen to the right of the previous Harlequin. He
is identifiable from his patchwork costume and triangular hat and appears to be kneeling on the
ground as if watching the puppet show taking place opposite. Death: The preoccupying theme of
Guernica is of course death; reinforcing this, in the centre of the painting is a hidden skull which
dominates the viewer s subliminal impressions. The skull is shown sideways and has been ingeniously
overlaid onto the body of the horse, which is also a death symbol. The skull s mechanical appearance
seems appropriate to the modern weaponry used in the 1937 bombing. Picasso often hid one or more
related symbols within a particular image as seen here. Below the dying horse in the centre of the
painting is a concealed bull s head contained in the outline of the horse s buckled front leg. Its location
infers that that it is plunging its horns into the horse s belly from below... the goring of the horse in the
bullfight was a favourite subject for Picasso and has strong sexual overtones. | | | | | | SUMMARY FOR

Liberals and Conservatives in Post Revolutionary Latin...
Liberals and Conservatives in Post Revolutionary Latin America
Models for post revolutionary Latin American government are born of the complex economic and
social realities of 17th and 18th century Europe. From the momentum of the Enlightenment came
major political rebellions of the elite class against entrenched national monarchies and systems of
power. Within this time period of elitist revolt and intensive political restructuring, the fundamental
basis for both liberal and conservative ideology was driven deep into Latin American soil. However,
as neither ideology sought to fulfill or even recognize the needs or rights of mestizo people under
government rule, the initial liberal doctrine pervading Latin American nations perpetuated ... Show

Comprised of landowners, lawyers, judges, priests, military officers and public officials, the creole
and mazomba leaders of Latin American society found insatiable inspiration from the American and
French Revolutions of the eighteenth century, and flooded Latin America with a liberal movement for
independent nations. Conservatives, in contrast, sought to preserve the traditions of the colonial
period, and the Orthodox rule of both the church and foreign born royal authorities. Yet Old World
flavor soured bitterly in a New World teeming with liberal thinkers and daring rebels. Desiring to
surpass Old World peninsular and reinĂłs rulers, creole and mazomba won control over local resources
and economic development.
New World liberal intellectuals believed in minimal government direction and unregulated free trade
of agricultural and mined goods (63). Representing less than 5% of the total Latin American
population, the small, privileged elite of the New World reaped even greater awards during the early
decades of nationhood than under colonialism and created theological republics out of Spanish and
Portuguese colonial systems (84). New liberal republics built nations on the backs of barbarous Indian
and mestizo workers, and trumpeted free trade as a natural means to wealth and the secret to European
economic success. Sarmiento s ideology encapsulates liberal Latin America and the racist veins
running through it, describing the

The Schism Between Chinese and American Medical Practices...
Increased global interdependence has brought about the convergence of cultures, traditions, and the
way individuals go about their daily lives. As daily life around the world seems to become more
uniform in all cultures, it becomes important to examine the aspects that most converge and pay
special attention to why they have or have not evolved to resemble each other. In regards to one of the
highest orders of education and one of the most vastly important studies worldwide, medical training
has become more globally uniform. Our goal is to have our top doctors and researchers trained in a
similarly effective manner. In addition, the top of the field should have opportunities to share as much

The late 1900s brought about a great deal of change for China in terms of basic education. In 1978, a
policy of globalization took effect, and the Peoples Republic of China began to interact with the world
much more than in its previous years. Subsequently, in 1985, the Decision on the Reform of
educational structure was mandated by the Communist Party. This placed the responsibility of
education on local governments. A year later, the Compulsory Education Law of the People s Republic
of China was passed, making basic education a legal requirement of citizens. Throughout the 1990s,
more laws were passed that further refined education, detailing the requirements for quality socialistic
educations, and promoting science and technology as vital elements. The result of this reform was a
tremendous increase in kindergartens, primary, junior and senior secondary schools. Enrollment rates
at primary and junior secondary schools were 98.58% and 90% respectively. Employed full time
teachers were nearly 5.8 million in 2002 (4). These details show that a thoroughly educated Chinese
culture is still young, and without a doubt these developments affect the practice of the medical
professional.
The variations between Chinese and American higher education have developed due to the differences
in tradition and culture. The U.S. culture is a quickly morphing, dynamic culture that promotes

When running a business there is fixed costs that are always the same, these include costs such as rent,
insurance and road tax. Knowing the changes of your fixed costs could save a lot of time and keep a
more clearly financial statement and management decisions. For example the government orders all
insurance on cars to increase by 15%, this used to be a fixed cost however on the odd occasion it can
change. Applying close attention to changes within fixed costs can be crucial and will improve the
performance of management decisions in the future as you have valid data to hand. The pricing in
times like the recession for rent could always be changing and product prices can go up or down
according to competitors within the marketing environment, using invalid information for predictions
on what will happen with the business is suicidal and managing resources and budgets can cover this
problem and in turn improve the company s performance by making accurate marketing decisions that
will benefit the company.
Also, in any recession businesses need to insure their safety by keeping reserves from the cash flow
cycle for emergencies. An emergency could render anything from a downturn in the market to an
offensive attack on your business premises, keeping reservations will help soften the effects of these
situations. Business analysts recommend that

Frederick Jackson Turner Frontier Thesis Summary
The American Frontier consisted of a vibrant and expansive land made for the opportunity
ofAmerican settlement until the late 19th century. Unfortunately, the age of exploration of the Frontier
officially ended in 1890 with the U.S Census Bureau declaring that here can hardly be said to be a
frontier line. A historian, Frederick Jackson Turner, claimed that the Frontier shaped American culture
and the attitude of Americans. By evaluating U.S Census Bureau statistics, he famously wrote the
Frontier Thesis. Along with the Frontier Thesis, Turner contributed to the field of New History,
primarily analyzing the West and Sectionalism of the United States. Today, historians acknowledge the

The Velocity And Wave Speed
Velocity: In reference to waves, the velocity can be described as the distance a point on the wave, for
example the crest, moves or shifts in a given period of time. This means that the velocity or wave
speed, is the metres the wave travels per second. A wave may have a high frequency, vibrating back
and back, but can still have a low velocity. Hence, a wave can be moving back and forth with a low
frequency and still have a velocity. Therefore we can get the equation v = λ/T or v = f λ.
Wavelength: The wavelength is the distance from one point on a wave to the same point on the next
wave along. We can measure the wavelength of a wave from one peak of a wave to another. One wave
length can be seen or described as the distance between to peaks or troughs of a wave. Equation v =
d/T therefore... d = v x T (m)
Behaviour of the waves
Reflection: This is when a wave approaches the boundary between two mediums, when this happens a
part of the wave undergoes reflection across the boundary. The amount of reflection from the wave
depends on the variation of the two mediums. Sound waves reflecting off surfaces can lead to two
different wave occurrences, either an echo or a reverberation. Reverberation usually happens in a
room with a particular height, width and length of roughly 17 meters. This sound wave which the
human brain receives barely lasts for more than a minute fraction of a second; the human brain stored
a particular sound in memory for up to 0.1 seconds. When the

The Tolkien s The Hobbit
As the story of The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien develops, readers of this book can see that one of the
main characters experience a metamorphosis. From the beginning of the story throughout the end,
Bilbo goes through a change, but for the better. Tolkien s main character Bilbo in The Hobbit shows
the theme of becoming a hero by gaining courage and confidence as the story progresses.
During the beginning of The Hobbit Bilbo likes to stay to himself in his hobbit hole. We see that he is
also shy when the author say Since they have become rare and shy of the Big People (Tolkien 1). Here
readers can see that the author is describing the hobbits, including Bilbo himself as shy around people
and creatures that are not like himself. The author starts off the story by telling the readers that Bilbo
was shy to show that he did not have much confidence, and due to his lack of confidence he had a lack
of experience. Continuing in the beginning, Bilbo declines the invitation from Gandalf to go on an
adventure. We don t want any adventures here, thank you! You might try over The Hill or across The

point in the story he is not brave enough for an adventure. During another occasion Bilbo says, Sorry!

Through main character Yakov Bok the factors that lead up to and cause alienation are shown

A Good Man Is Hard To Find
A good man or woman signifies that both genders try to do the right thing whenever possible. It does
not mean perfection, but the goal is to get as close as possible to treating others with dignity, trust, and
respect. With that said, the story A Good Man is Hard to Find does show elements of the characters
defining what good could potentially mean.
The characters in the story talk about a woman who lives with his son and his family. The woman s
character sets a tone of someone that is very talkative, opinionated, and social. The tone of a story is
the way the author expresses attitude in their writing. Evidence of this is throughout the story from the
time the family gets ready to leave for vacation, to her encounter at the restaurant with Red Sammy,
and her coming face to face with an escaped criminal. The children in the story display kids with a lot
of sass, spunk, and vocal to the point that it seems that they are out of line with what they say. The
boy, John, asks his grandmother to stay home if she doesn t want to go with them to Florida; the girl,

  • 3. Chronic Insomnia brain tumors or strokes (Epstein, p.249). Chronic insomnia was revealed to be in direct relation to a neurochemical imbalance in 2008 that makes it difficult for the brain to get ready for sleep. Someone who is affected for more than six months has 30 percent less gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA), which is chemically induced throughout the brain to slow activity down (McKeever,2008). GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter that helps regions of the brain shut down by reducing electrical activity (Mehta,2008). This attributes to overactivity being present at not only the level of excessive thoughts and emotions but at the nervous system as well (McKeever,2008). Hyperarousal is also a neurobiological state of chronic insomnia and lower GABA levels are found in people with a major depression disorder and anxiety disorders that both factor into disturbed sleep (health.com). To support this theory, researchers collected data on 16 people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For this study, 25 people with and 25 people without sleep problems were tested on overnight sleep patterns and working memory tasks. During the overnight sleep period, the group with insomnia got about 6 hours of sleep and the group without insomnia averaged 7 hours. The memory task occurred while the brain was being scanned with functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). People with insomnia showed less activity in working memory regions and people without showed more. As the task got harder, people without insomnia showed more activity in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and less for people with insomnia (Rettner,2013). With the increased difficulty of the tasks, the group without were able to control their mind wandering and the group with insomnia were not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Every year, when my father announced a family meeting regarding our vacation plans, he just explains how we re going down to North Carolina to see our family and then to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. My family and I have been to Myrtle Beach for the past eight years. Like every year to show appreciation, I attended the family meeting. I remember how my father had this stupid excited look on his face. He then opened a huge brochure that said Atlantis Bahamas. I jumped out of my seat in shock, and danced around like an idiot. I was really excited that I would finally be going to an exotic island and that is not part ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before I entered the hotel I closed my eyes and walked in. I was greeted to the new smells and the atmosphere of what it was like to be in the Bahamas. About a half hour later, my family and I were checked into our hotel room. Our room was a normal sized room with a balcony that viewed the park and ocean. After we were settled, we went downstairs to the beach. I took my first step into the crystal clear water and immediately jumped in. The water was so warm, that I did not have to take time to get used to it. Checked that off my list. The next day, my family and I went to a boat ride to go snuba diving. Unfortunately, you had to be 18 years or older to go scuba diving. Snuba diving was a different form of scuba diving. You had a long rod that connected to an oxygen tank. You would then put the air piece in your mouth and start to breathe. At first, I was afraid to go underwater because I was afraid of sharks. However, when I went in, I was not afraid when I saw all the cool different types of fish. Check. Finally, at dinner time, my father took us to this five star course meal in the hotel. I ate mahi mahi. Check and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Rapid Growth Of Population Essay Introduction: The reason I chose this topic is because in my country Ethiopia the rapid growth of population alarmed me, just around the 1965 our population was very low however in the past few years it has tripled form 20 million to over 100 million. This was when my interest in my countries population developed. Population is one of the conversational topics when talking about a countries profile, in view of the fact that it plays a huge role, in a countries work force, consumption and economy. I will be collecting data and modelling them to predict the population for the next 5 to 10 years. I will also be doing this for Kenya to see the relationship between the two countries to prove that this rapid growth of population is happening not only in our country but in our neighboring countries too. The data collected is imprecise because it is affected by many variables. The mortality rate of the people in Ethiopia can affect my data highly. During this time Ethiopia had a high rate of migration, this could also be included as one of the variables that have affected my data. I will be using this set of data to draw a graph so that I can generate a model to represent this data so that I can use it to predict the population after five years. Year Population (in millions) 1 2015 99.3 2 2010 87.5 3 2005 76.6 4 2000 66.4 5 1995 57.2 6 1990 48.0 7 1985

  • 9. Bourdieu s Understanding the Power for Social Change Bourdieu describes habitus as a power of adaptation. It constantly performs an adaptation to the outside world which only exceptionally takes the form of radical conversion (Bourdieu, 1993). Bourdieu s concept of habitus enables us to understand women as a complex amalgam of their past and present (Bourdieu, 1990a), but an amalgam that is always in the process of completion. There is no finality or finished identity. At the same time, habitus also includes a set of complex, diverse predispositions. It invokes understandings of identity premised on familial legacy and early childhood socialisation. As such, it is primarily a dynamic concept, a rich interlacing of past and present, interiorised and permeating both body and psyche. Much of the dynamism of habitus is the product of the interconnection of habitus with Bourdieu s related concept of field. Field is a set of objective, historical relations between positions anchored in certain forms of power (or capital) (Wacquant in Bourdieu Wacquant, 1992, p. 16). A dialectic relationship exists be tween the two concepts. In one direction there is a flow of influence from field to habitus that produces a relationship of conditioning in which the field structures the habitus. When Bourdieu refers to , is usually referring to the different types of capitals that one person can acquire. These capitals are economic, linguistic, and cultural (Bourdieu, 1991). Depending of the quantity of each of these capitals, a person is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Impact Of Endangered Species This report will be discussing and talking about endangered species and the impacts they have on ecosystems. Endangered species is a species of animal or plants at risk of extinction because of human activity, changes in climate, ruining of ecosystems, etc. This report will be split into different sections discussing different examples of endangered species and the impacts that they have on different ecosystems. Blue whales, weighing in at 200 tonnes are the largest ever known animal to live on the planet. Sadly, after whaling has occurred it has made the species endangered with only 10000 to 25000 remaining. Blue whales play a significant role in keeping the food chain stable and helping with the reproduction of other species. In the marine ecosystem whales help control the distribution of food by helping to keep a stable food chain and ensuring that certain marine species do not overpopulate the ocean, however, Blue whales are being killed and the food distribution in the ocean is becoming unstable and causing major changes in the food supply of many other marine life A Blue Whale is able to consume as much as 40 million krill per day, so the impact on the marine ecosystem would be huge because overtime krill will overpopulate which causes problems in maintaining a food chain because the more krill there is the more food they will eat so because of their new overpopulation it could make other animals become extinct. If Blue Whales become extinct then marine life will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. An Analysis Of Ellen Hopkins s You Know My Story The poem, You Know My Story , is an excerpt from a larger poem, and novel, called Glass by Ellen Hopkins. The book is the second book in a series of three describing the rollercoaster life of Kristina Georgia Snow while on drugs. The free verse poetry books were very largely inspired by Hopkins daughter s own drug addiction (Goodreads). Her daughter, Cristal was very much like Kristina from the story. She became addicted to the same drug as Kristina and even had a child that was later adopted by Hopkins, just like the character from the story (Hopkins). The poem is written in a very interesting way. If someone were to read the poem straight across as literature is meant to be read, the poem would be very descriptive and tell a short story on just one page. But with many of Hopkins works, if the poem is read just using the stand alone words or phrases on the right, a new poem is born. This new poem is a much creepier summary of the larger poem. In this case the new poem reads, my dive into insanity, no longer perfect, Kristina became the monster (Hopkins). The entire poem has a very dark mood. It has very deep traces of helplessness and a misplaced self identity for the narrator. The tone shifts a few times, but throughout it shares the same darkness of the mood. First there is anger, then sadness and, finally complete vulnerability. Any piece of literature that talks about an addict of any sort, tends to be very dark and depressing. This poem is no exception to that idea. If a person was new to the works of Ellen Hopkins, they might not be aware of the fact that her books are poetry. The free verse style lends itself well to the writing of a novel, but it is not the type of rhyming poetry that most people are used to. It seems more like a book than a poem at first, yet if reread the poetic nature is made more noticeable. Hopkins has stated that she doesn t plan out her books beforehand because her poetry has to flow naturally and too much planning messes with the natural flow of things (Hopkins). There is no discernable rhythm or rhyme scheme to this poem. That holds true for most free verse poems. As previously stated, this type of poetry tends to work well when writing an entire book comprised of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Race in Amerca Race, simple external differences linked to other complex internal differences, has historically created issues in American society. Race and racial inequalities are one of the most vital issues confronting contemporary U.S. society, explains Sociologist Ronald Takaki. In the past race has had both biological and social implications across the country. However, the video Race: The Power of Illusion presents significant evidence refuting the biological theories of race. Cold Springs Harbor Laboratory instructor Scott Bronson and several high school students from different ethnicities conducted personal genetic research exploring biological race theory. Students typed their blood, compared skin tones and took DNA samples. After sending the samples to a genetics lab, Bronson asked students whom they might expect to be more genetically similar to in the workshop. The consensus of the students was that they would each be genetically comparable to others in the group with similar physical attributes. Noah, a white male expected to be similar to another white male in the group and Mr. Bronson. Two other students, a male and female of African descent, believed they would similar despite their gender differences. When the lab work came back, Mr. Bronson and the students evaluated the results and the students were quite surprised. They discovered those students of African descent had more genetic differences than the rest of the group combined. Supporting the student s findings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Old society, people are hemmed by their family honor, inborn mission, society rules. On the other hand, modern people have democracy and rights to plan their life, and whom they want to be, but they are also confined by advanced technology, and social rules, and social norms. Women and children who live in modern society have much higher social status than old days. However, if you ask, do people who live in nowadays live better life than those people who live in early society. My answer is no. Although both modern culture and traditional society are misfortune in their way, I am more sympathetic to those who live in contemporary society. The Crystal Land Poem Meaning The Crystal Land: Constructing and Destroying Zembla By shifting focus to the imagery of crystal, which carries contrasting connotations from the windows of the previous narrative, Nabokov also shifts the setting from the realm of reality to that of Kinbote s fantasy. The delicate extravagance generally associated with crystal can be seen as a representation of the unattainable, subjective realm both internal authors fundamentally strive for. The fact that crystal is able to refract light due to the presence of lead also supports that as it alludes to the idea of the false azure projected by the windowpane in Shade s poem. Furthermore, both Zembla and the ambiguous realm Shade portrays in the first stanza of his poem are dubbed the crystal land. This continual reflection of images from the ... By using the word stone, however he evokes the juxtaposition of nature and glass imagery from the first narrative. By synthesizing the two symbols here, he can thus shift the meaning of crystal to act as a barrier entrapping the narrator within his fantasy. Furthermore, by placing Kinbote in the same voyeuristic role as in the first narrative, Nabokov is able to once again convey Kinbote s inability to transcend his fantasy due to his dissociation from reality. In effect, by including the fantasy narrative, Nabokov has the freedom for romanticized invention which allows him to literally imprison Kinbote in a crystal palace. Two Party System in U.S. Essay example The reemergence of the two party system in America during the early to mid 1800s was due greatly to the battles for states rights and the economic issues of the time. These two topics were closely associated with each other and they helped contributed to the political struggle between the Democrats and the Whigs. The political divisions had occurred one part due to Jackson s veto of the re chartering of the Bank of the United States, the Tariff of Abominations, and the disastrous effects the Panic of 1837 had on the economy. The debate over states rights led to a further division in political ideologies and consequently strengthened the two party system. One such debate was over the Maysville Road Bill. When Jackson vetoed the bill to appropriate federal funds to repair an interstate road, it marked an enormous setback for nationalism and also the American System. His states rights partiality angered Henry Clay and other believers in the American system because the veto attacked one of the major components of the system, a strong infrastructure including roads. Another issue dealing with the rights of the state governments that divided the nation political was South Carolina s Ordinance of Nullification. In reaction to the burden that the Tariff of Abominations placed upon the farmers of South Carolina, the state utilized its right to nullify the federal law. Raoul Wallenberg was a Swedish businessman and diplomat who showed much moral courage by saving countless Jews during World War II. Raoul Wallenberg was born on August 4, 1912 in Sweden. He was born into one of the richest families in Sweden, the Wallenbergs. Since his family was very wealthy, he had the opportunity to attend college abroad in another continent. • 22. Thesis Statement For The Pearl By John Steinbeck In The Pearl by John Steinbeck, the theme of greed as a destructive force has been shaped strongly throughout the entire book. My thesis statement is that if Kino had the ability to change himself, his life could have also been changed. As written in the book, The sun was behind them and their long shadows stalked ahead, and they seemed to carry two towers of darkness with them. (Steinbeck, 88). Being a parable, The Pearl provides examples of greed and the role of fate in a human s life. If Kino had never found the pearl, his life and his family s life would not have been changed. They would have lived in peace forever. But the pearl was found and the evil and greed changed everything in Kino s life. The happiness was gone. The Pearl tells us about the consequences that may happen if one allows greed to have a destructive influence on their life. What I liked about the story is that the development of the characters have been shown throughout the book. For example, Juana in The Pearl , changed from ...all knowing and all caring...in her role as submissive wife (she) does not have enough power to make Kino listen to her warnings...her role becomes significant only near the end of the tragic tale, when the formative events have already occurred. When Juana was about to throw the pearl away, she received a punch from Kino. He struck her in the face with his clenched fist and she fell among the borders, and he kicked her in the side. • 31. The Velocity And Wave Speed Velocity: In reference to waves, the velocity can be described as the distance a point on the wave, for example the crest, moves or shifts in a given period of time. This means that the velocity or wave speed, is the metres the wave travels per second. A wave may have a high frequency, vibrating back and back, but can still have a low velocity. Hence, a wave can be moving back and forth with a low frequency and still have a velocity. Therefore we can get the equation v = λ/T or v = f λ. Wavelength: The wavelength is the distance from one point on a wave to the same point on the next wave along. We can measure the wavelength of a wave from one peak of a wave to another. One wave length can be seen or described as the distance between to peaks or troughs of a wave. Equation v = d/T therefore... d = v x T (m) Behaviour of the waves Reflection: This is when a wave approaches the boundary between two mediums, when this happens a part of the wave undergoes reflection across the boundary. The amount of reflection from the wave depends on the variation of the two mediums. Sound waves reflecting off surfaces can lead to two different wave occurrences, either an echo or a reverberation. Reverberation usually happens in a room with a particular height, width and length of roughly 17 meters. This sound wave which the human brain receives barely lasts for more than a minute fraction of a second; the human brain stored a particular sound in memory for up to 0.1 seconds. When the ... It does not mean perfection, but the goal is to get as close as possible to treating others with dignity, trust, and respect. With that said, the story A Good Man is Hard to Find does show elements of the characters defining what good could potentially mean. The characters in the story talk about a woman who lives with his son and his family. The woman s character sets a tone of someone that is very talkative, opinionated, and social.
