Alternative Responses
When I find myself in an argument that seems to have no solution, when I feel there are unspoken
motivations on the side of my conversational partner inflaming their irritation, I see that I have the
power to change course. If I have this recognition, I can return to a place of more calm and ask,
What is upsetting you right now? What do you feel is true or important that isn t getting across? To
resolve this I want to really understand how you feel.
Feelings are a point of contention right now. From millenials and their feelings about the
workplace to the vocalization and protest of social justice warriors to the presence of alternative
facts or truthiness what is felt or perceived to be true rather than what data supports.

This means involving feelings. How do people feel, really? What hurts or angers them? Why do
they feel this way? What memories do they have leading to these feelings? How might their feelings
influence their actions? That is the beginning of radical love and compassionate politics. These are
the things considered by a good parent or friend or lover. We put down our defenses and
irritation to consider why they act the way they do when they surprise or disappoint us, because
we love them and believe them worthy of this generosity. Sometimes we decide, Oh, it s not her
fault, her mother had severe OCD so when she s under stress she gets a little anxious about
clutter. It s not that big of a deal. Then sometimes we decide it s too severe and say instead, I
know she gets anxious about clutter because of her upbringing, but it s really getting out of control
and damaging our relationship. What would help her heal that anxiety? And then you begin the
conversation of compromise. Either way, that consideration, awareness, and generosity will go a
long way helping each of you find a peaceful

Compare And Contrast Texas To Ohio State University
In my paper I will discuss the different staff, facilities, and programs that both of the universities
have. Both schools are great school, but each has very different Rec Sports and facilities. Just by
looking at the pictures from both facilities, I would say that they are really nice and up to date. So
I will compare and contrast Texas A M to Ohio State University.
The first university that I will talk about is Texas A M, who has over 12,000 students who
participate each year. They also have over 34 different programs that students can do for free.
Intramural sports is a big part of any university. Texas has over 12,000 students that participate in
intramural sports. If you want to join any of their intramural sports you must login and join

The Garbage Of Trash Garbage
Community Trash Pickup Trash, also known as litter is a very big concern everywhere in the
world. Litter is nothing but a piece of waste or rubbish that has been disposed improperly, without
consent and at wrong location. Littering simply means throwing away objects on the ground or
leaving them lying on the ground instead of disposing them at garbage can, recyclingbin or trash
container. (What is Litter? ) It is very concerning that there are only a few people who would
like to make a change within their own community. The trash laying alongside the highways is
very distracting, it makes you want to stop and pick it up. Many people who feel such a way
decide that they need to come up with a plan that could get their community involved. The
environment that we live in needs to be treated better, if only humans could take a second look
at what it actually does look like. There are so many ideas and ways trash could be taken care of
instead of just being disposed alongside the highways, on the streets, or anywhere else it does
not belong besides in a garbage can. It is very disappointing that many people do not even care at
all that the mother earth is very trashy. However, there are a few good people out there who take
their time to keep their community looking nice and clean. It is surprising when you do notice the
few places that you travel by are clean. Some ways that a community can get motivated in trash
pickup would be to start off with your friends who

Components Of Gear Box Inspection
OBJECTIVE: Is to do a Gear Box Inspection, determine the type of Gear and profile of gear sets,
and take the dimension and measurement of the gear sets, likewise checking for backlash and gear
mesh
EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED FOR INSPECTION: Micrometer screw gauge, dial indicator, Allen
keys, Vernier caliper, gearor Pitch gauge, bevel protractor
INTRODUCTION
The type of Gear in this unit is a Worm Gear which comprises of a worm and Worm wheel
A Worm Gear is a type of gear with a mechanical arrangement which has a toothed wheel worked
by a short revolving cylinder called a worm bearing a screw thread. The gear consists of a shaft
with a spiral thread that engages with and drives a toothed wheel
Profile of the Gear: A worm and its mating worm gear operate or transmit motion and power
between non intersecting shafts that are at 90o to each other. A large speed reduction ratio
compared to other types of gears is typically achieved. The worm is the driver, and the worm gear
is the driven gear. The teeth on the worm appear similar to screw threads, and are referred to as
threads rather than teeth.
The gear drive has a worm on the high speed shaft which has the general appearance of a power
screw thread such as a cylindrical, helical thread.
Worms and worm gears can be provided with either right hand or left hand threads on the worm.
Gears that also have a helix angle can be either right hand or left hand.
If the teeth point to the right, as viewed from the shaft axis of the

1. Why does inflation make nominal GDP a poor measure of the increase in total production?
Nominal GDP is the value of final goods and services evaluated at current year prices and are
calculated by summing the current values of final goods and services. In the other hand, the real
GDP is and services in the base year to calculate the value of goods and services in all other
years. Real GDP holds prices constant, which makes it a better measure than nominal GDP of
changes in the production of goods and services from one year to the next. In fact, growth in the
economy is almost always measured ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Clinical Depression Case Study Essay
The aforementioned questions are very critical to my role as a healthcare professional in the
industry. Having worked in an outpatient setting. I have had several encounters with individuals
who are being treated for depression. The reason for their condition can be ascribed to the physical
pain they are experiencing. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, depression is a
psychological disorder that is serious, it necessitates empathy and treatment management to address
the debilitating condition and thwart it from getting life threatening ( Mental Health Conditions,
n.d.). The National Institute of Mental Health has highlighted that clinical depression, as it is
commonly referred is a disorder of the brain ( Depression, n.d.). The organization has supplemented

David Sullivan Society Is Dead
I do agree with Sullivan that Society Is Dead because in my generation, people do not care to
meet new people. For example, the other morning I tried to say good morning to a girl, who was
on her phone, but she rolled her eyes at me and went back to scrolling on her phone. Honestly, I
was disappointed that she could not say good morning back to me. Like Sullivan says, these
iPod people are too wrapped up in their own world that talking to others is like a sin. People
make it such a big deal when it comes to being social with someone. Instead of talking to someone
new at the bus stop, they scroll through their phone just to pass the time. It is so hard to make
friends these days and this is exactly why. I have moved around a lot and I have

Combating Resistance to Organizational Change Essay
Combating Resistance to Organizational Change
By any objective measure, the amount of important, frequently distressing, change in
organizations has grown enormously over the last two decades (Kotter, 1996). Jeffrey M. Hiatt,
CEO of Prosci Inc., (as cited by Gibson, Ivancevich, Donnelly Konopaske, 2009, p. 481)
explained, thirty years ago, a foturne 100 probably had one or two enterprisewide change
intitiatives goiong on; today that number is proably between 20 and 25. The speed of global,
economic, and techological development makes change an ineveitable element of organiztional life.
Change is a pervasive, perisitent, and permenant condition for all organizations (Gibson, et al.,
2009). Organizational change means different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If organizations are to thrive and be sustaining, they need to respond to the dynamics of their
environment with change. However, change is not a singular event with an isolated focus (Spector,
2007). Effective strategic renewal is a combination of the three faces of change turnaround, which
targets costs; technology, which targets internal process; and behavioral, which targets employee
actions and interactions (Spector, 2007). In a discussion on change management, particularly
management by control versus management by shaping, Palmer, et al. (2009) draw a similar
conclusion that organizations and human systems are complex and evolving and therefore cannot
be reduced to a single, linear objective of maximizing shareholder value (p. 50).
Forces for Change
Despite some variations in change approach labels among academic research, it seems generally
accepted that forces for change are the catalyst for change itself. Gibson, et al. (2009) classified
forces for change into two groups; environmental and internal, and further described environmental
forces as those generally beyond management s control and internal forces generally within
management s control. These forces for change trigger an intervention or change process that can
take any of three approaches: structural, behavioral, or technological (Gibson, et al. 2009).
Similarly, Spector (2007) discussed change approaches as those of organizational turnarounds,
behavioral and

knowledge. I know it is equally important to take the time to learn the job process that better
prepares me for the task at hand. Training in the fresh and center store is no problem and I have
learned a lot about these areas over time. As for my ability to complete the assigned fast track
training modules. I did not have opportunity to complete them on time because they were

Cromwell s Responsibility For Expansions And Effectiveness...
Cromwell s Responsibility For Expansions And Effectiveness Of Government Between 1530 and
1539
The most influential and controversial thesis concerning Cromwell s role in the revolution in
government in the 1530s was Elton s The Tudor Revolution in Government . In this work, Elton
asses Cromwell as the most remarkable revolutionary in English history. . Elton argued that
Cromwell seized the unique opportunity presented by Henry VIII s martial problems to turn
England into a unified, independent sovereign state, ruled by a constitutional monarch through
national and bureaucratic institutions. This is certainly true to an extent however it could be
argued that these changes were reactionary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The appointments of both the Earl of Norfolk and Charles Brandon, Earl of Suffolk, seem
indicative of a politically and religiously conservative council. These facts obviously take
responsibility for these changes away from Cromwell.
The importance of the executive Privvy Council is that it gave drive and continuity to royal
government owing to the stability of its membership no longer did the impetus need to come
from the monarch or chief minister. This would be particularly important after Cromwell s
downfall in the 1540s, when Henry did not allow another Cromwell to emerge and his powers
were failing, and even more after 1547 when Edward VI was a boy, succeeded by two women.
The Privvy Council took over responsibility for the executive. It had certainly taken over the
management of the day to day business on behalf of the monarch by Elizabeth s reign, but it is most
doubtful that this occurred in the 1530s or that Cromwell planned it.
Several other objections have been raised to Elton s assessment of the development of the Privvy
Council. Elton argued that Cromwell was able by the reorganisation of the haphazard medieval
Council into a more formally constituted board of government; and by the promotion of the
principal secretary (himself) to get himself appointed the chief executive and co ordinating minister.
Rather than judging it to be part of Cromwell s plan to

How Is The Bourgeoisie Related To The Rise Of Capitalism
Although Karl Marx criticized the private property and exploitation of labor in the bourgeoisie
governed society, he contended that Capitalism was progressive in history. (p.67)The capitalist had
indeed played a revolutionary part in mode of production, of exchange, and relation of production.
The epoch of capitalism set a consolidated material basis by enhancing the productive force. The
rise of bourgeoisie propels novel and effective modes of production and improves people s living
standard. The bourgeoisie put up a manufacturing system with unskilled worker. The division of
labor in such system allows more workers to do easier tasks and thus increasing the commodity

The economic power eventually developed into political power that supported the bourgeoisie to
replace the outdated aristocracy. Marx believed the instability of society came from the
incompatibility of the massive productive forces and its obsolete relation of production.(p.70)
Capitalism emerged in the age of feudalism, and was itself adapted to the feudal society well
enough in the early stage; however, having constantly improved its modes of production and of
exchange, at certain stage, the political and economic characters of feudal society impede the
development of productive forces. Therefore, capitalism began to set up a constitution to replace
the outmoded rule and furthering production. Therefore, French Revolution was a representation of
the middle class rebel against the feudalism to change the relation of production. The bourgeoisie,
although out of themselves profits, endeavor to terminate the feudal, patriarchal and idyllic relation
(67) and therefore removing natural superiors and improving equality in society. In this sense,
capitalism is more advanced than

that art is one and major part of our life because we experience it in our daily basis. Art is related
to who we are somehow and sometimes words fails to express how art and our lives are

that Art is something that captures the eye. Whether the artist is trying to communicate an emotion,

One example would be the painting of The Shepherd Faustulus Bringing Romulus and Remus to
His Wife. This oil painting made in 1654 shows a father carrying two babies with a shit and

of caring for babies and it is not just the women s duty to look after babies. Another notable
example of art of persuasion, that is not in the Dallas Museum of Art but that is covered in the
text book, would be the Egyptian sculptures of the pharaoh. The sculpture had a human body
with a wild animal face to represent the personality of that particular god/ess in a symbolic way
which symbolizes how powerful and different the pharaoh is from the general citizen. The
sculptures had one leg in front of the other to represent that the pharaoh leads and to show the

persuasions because it the purpose of this sculpture is to present the pharaoh as a god to Egyptians

Anna O Case Study
Case of Anna O Carey Wolf Argosy University 2016 Case of Anna O Background Anna O was 21

of feeling in her arms and legs as well as muscle spasms. Breuer could not figure out why Anna
was experiencing these types of symptoms so he deemed it hysterical neurosis (Heller, 2005).
While under hypnosis Anna s symptoms were not as severe and she could recall dramatic events

to her. (Campbella Pile, 2010). Jung agrees with Freud that personal conscious is a repository of
content previously conscious, even though they may have been forgotten. For example; collective

Summary Of On Dumpster Diving
In 1993, Lars Eighner, a homeless college dropout, published his memoir titled Travels with
Lizbeth. Within, an essay titled On Dumpster Diving shares his experiences and how they define
his identity. Eighner views identity not solely on his status of a scavenger, but rather on how his
experiences shape his identity and how he acts despite his circumstances. Similarly, as a student,
my own identity is not based on my status, but rather on how my behavior is shaped in my
situations. The identities of individuals are defined by how they live, how they react, and how they
behave in all circumstances, not on their status or profession. Throughout Eighner s essay, he
utilizes various strategies to explain the process of Dumpster divingand how his personal
experiences have shaped his own identity. Starting with a narrative, the author describes his passion
for Dumpsters and his financial reasons for becoming a scavenger. Transitioning into a didactic
tone, Eighner then defines various terms surrounding this idea of Dumpsterdiving and contrasts the
meaning of a scavenger and scrounger. To him, scavenging is a sound and honorable niche (55),
while scrounging is crude and demeaning. After comparing the motives of Dumpster divers with
average people, he discusses various foods found in Dumpsters and the processes needed to ensure
safe and healthy consumption. With a negative attitude towards ignorant college students and
wasteful consumers, Eighner begins

An Alternative Basis For Enforcing Promises
Contract is generally defined as a promise or set of promises for the breach of which the law
gives a remedy, or the performance of which the law in some ways recognizes as a duty
(Restatement (Second) of the Law of Contracts В§ 1). Hence, when a person sues someone for
breach of contract, it only means that the defendant fails to fulfill his promise to the plaintiff
(Maggs, p. 1). If this happens, there are two options that the court may ask to the defendant pay
the plaintiff or perform the promise. A promise is enforceable by the law if it comprised the two
bases to be considered legally recognized reliance and consideration. Reliance is deemed as an
alternative basis for enforcing promises (Maggs, p. 13). On the other hand, consideration is
defined for a promise as something a performance or another promise given in exchange for the
promise as a part of a bargain (Maggs, p. 13). There are basically four requirements that
characterize a consideration: there should be a return promise or performance bargained; the
return promise or performance is agreed due to the promisor s request in exchange for the
promisee s request; performance may be in the form of forbearance, act, or destruction,
modification, creation of legal relation; and the return promise or performance may be granted to
another person or to the same promisor and may be granted by another person or the same
promisee. Given these characteristics, consideration is often referred as the bargain

An Overview On The Investment Services Industry
Industry Information and Overview:
The investment services industry is one of the fastest paced and rapidly evolving sectors of the
economy. The industry is highly dependent on the state of the economy and is highly cyclical. In
2000 when established firms in the industry began to tap the potential of the Internet, trading
volumes crashed in what is now termed the Dot Com bubble. In 2002 when it seemed that
innovative technology and telecommunications companies would continuously improve business
productivity, the technology and telecom sectors crashed. More recently, just when the industry
thought it figured out how to rig the mortgage market to secure record profits with little to no risk,
the entire mortgage market crashed and created a liquidity crisis and a recession that would be later
described as the Great Recession. Investment services firms have learned time and time again that
they still must contend with an inevitable cycle of boom and bust.
The primary functions of an Investment Bank:

Maximum contact of air, waste bio mass, provide thousands of crossover points per m3, thus
leading to a very good aeration by natural draught or ventilation. The air requirement is met by
providing Ventilation openings in the wall, at the bottom of the Improved Bio Tower, having a

Dog Breeding Research Paper
Methods Used to Breed Dogs
Purebred dogs are attractive to pet owners but breeding purebreds or any other dog for that matter,
is not as straightforward as it looks. Breeding lines often produce pets with different characteristics
and the same statement applies whether you breed purebreds or mix breeds. It is impossible to
become an effective dog breeder without doing some homework. Breeding dogs is a complex
process that requires research, time and money.
Breeding standards are crucial to all successful dog breeders and personal likes and dislikes,
including type, color and size are often taken into account. Those who breed puppies tend to have a
favourite type of dog, a pet with a certain appearance and temperament. They mate the animal
hoping the bitch gives birth to pups with similar characteristics. This textbook breeding process
aims to produce pups resembling their parents and puppies that look like those in pictures and
books. In general, a healthy breeding line is essential, so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For example, consider different dog breeds, the appearance of the sire, dam, grand sire and grand
dam. Do they have a good pedigree, is the breed attractive and does the breed have the required
traits? Do you, as a breeder want to retain those qualities and traits or do you want to further
improve the breed?
Well informed dog breeders are effective, they research dog breeding online and keep up to date
with the latest breeding methods. Diverse breeding techniques produce different pups, for example,
potential breeders should know about purebreds, inbreeding, out crossing and line breeding.
Cross breeding is a popular way to produce a litter of pups. Breed a dog and a bitch of a different
breed to produce a cross bred, however, be mindful, crossbreds are not one of the most sought after
breeds. A crossbred pet may have behavioural problems that will be impossible to account

Religions of Judaism, Christianity, Islam
1.
God to the people of the big three monotheist religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) see god as an
all knowing, all seeing, and all powerful being.
I believe that that the Cosmological argument gives good reason to believe in the existence of
God. The Cosmological argument focuses on everything having a cause except one thing that
started it all, this starter is known as the Prime Mover . The Prime Mover is the one that starts
everything without anything having a previous effect on it. With that people have assumed that the
logical answer to who the prime mover is, is God. This to me seems the most logical of arguments
because although there is the idea of eternity and an eternal cycle there has to be a starting point. I
do not believe the argument is successful.
The reason that the argument does not succeed is because what proof is there that the prime
mover is an all powerful all mighty being? There could be alternate reasons related to science, The
Big Bang Theory, which could also be a reason. One of Aquinas s arguments against the
cosmological argument discussed that since everything in nature had a time where it did not exist
there had to be a time where it was nothing to bring anything into being. His argument was if this
was possible there was nothing around to bring the universe into being in the first place. Due to
this a being such as God is not likely to have existed before to create it. Who created God? The
only thing that could be done to better prove

Analysis Of Our Nig By Harriet E. Wilson
Introduction
When a reader encounters the story Our Nig it s bound to leave them looking at the experiences of
women differently. It s an emotional autobiography that develops into a miserable experience of
oppression and victimization on gender identities. The transition of the narrator from a young,
beautiful mullato girl into an emotionally and physically crippled woman highlights the horrors of
the society towards women but increases the pain because they are inflicted by other women.

An article on postpartum depression states 70 to 80 percent of women who have given birth
experience what are called the baby blues or the fourth day blues (Postpartum Depression). The
baby blues and fourth day blues have symptoms of mood swings, unhappiness, anxiety, irritability,
or restlessness and these symptoms will often go away or lessen without medical intervention
(Postpartum Depression). If someone experiences these symptoms they are not automatically
classified with having PPD.
The definition of postpartum depression is A physical and emotional condition that may be life
threatening, involving the symptoms of depression occurring from a month to a year following
childbirth and thought to be caused in part to dramatic hormonal shifts occurring in conjunction
with childbirth (Postpartum Depression). Indications of postpartum depression include sorrow,
insomnia, periodic crying, irritability, lack of energy and motivation, diminished feelings of self
worth, restlessness, guilt, unexplained weight changes, irrational fears and being overwhelmed.
There is a difference between postpartum depression and just having the baby blues . Postpartum
depression is severe and lasts for a longer amount of time compared to the baby blues . The baby
blues will not affect how you care for your child. Postpartum depression interferes with the mother
s ability to care for herself and her child.

John Winthrop Model
In 1630, the Arbella carried Puritans from England toward the colonies. Once they had arrived, John
Winthrop took responsibility to teach the passengers the principles of a model society so the future
generations could live well. By following these principles, the community was going to be able to
survive by working together in order to ensure that the community would last. Although America
started with John Winthrops idea of a model society, this nation is no longer the community that was

when saving extra. Today, most of the citizens work hard just so their family can have enough to
be able to put food on the table. Providing for their neighbor is the last thing in their minds. Some
people can barely provide for themselves let alone an entire family. According to the Bureau of

expenses, the family does not have enough to spend what is left on the ones surrounding them, so
how can America help each other when in need when they can barely help themselves? Families
will prefer to fool themselves into believing that no one needs anything just so they do not have
to give from what they have, and when they do happen to save extra, they do not plan on saving
for when their neighbor needs it, they plan to save it for when they need it. They may even save it
so in the future they can splurge on an expensive item that will please the family, something they do

Introduction. Photosynthesis Is A Vital Process For The
Introduction Photosynthesis is a vital process for the survival of all life on Earth. The byproduct of

every organism requires energy to fulfill their metabolism ( Overview of Photosynthesis, 2013).
Besides providing essential energy and oxygen for living organisms, photosynthesis also plays an
important role in the planet s environment by decreasing the atmospheric carbon dioxide(Singhal,

Inside the chloroplast are the disc shaped thylakoids, and the aqueous space called stroma (

two distinct stages: the initial light dependent reaction in the thylakoid membrane, capturing solar

have grown in popularity in recent years because of their initiatives to increase cycle usage, the
benefit of connectivity without the troubles of personal vehicles, and the decrease of
environmental impacts as a result of our transport activities (DeMaio 2009, p. 41). The original
concept of these systems had many flaws, but as technology has developed to improve the
tracking system, rapid expansion continues throughout Europe and across the globe. With
growing climate change and the dependence on oil becoming more of a problem, people are
beginning to look towards more responsible ways of living (Vidalis, et al. 2010, p. 1). Driving less
is one of the easiest ways to reduce one s carbon footprint, and is a key factor in the success
surrounding increased cycling. In the U.S., over 50 percent of all car trips are five miles or less
(Vidalis, et al. 2010, p. 3). By cutting down on unnecessary car trips, the release of air pollutants
such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, and lead could be drastically reduced in
larger cities. The environmental benefits, along with the health aspect

A Lacanian Study of Motherhood in the Poems of William...
William Wordsworth was a prolific poet of the Romantic movement, perhaps best known for
publishing Lyrical Ballads with friend and fellow poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge in 1798. These
poems were written in what Wordsworth described as a common tongue with a focus on themes
often found in Romantic poetry, such as the pastoral, the mythical, fragmentation, heroism and
satire. In Lyrical Ballads one recurring subject almost unique to Wordsworth in its passion and
persistence is that of motherhood. The connection between womanhood and nature make it a
frequently explored theme for many poets, such as Blake in his Songs of Innocence. However, I
have chosen to focus on Wordsworth since motherhood is not only examined at great length in...

It takes place when the infant, between the ages of six and eighteen months, looks into a mirror
and recognises its reflection. This may be traumatic for the child, since viewing a whole image
provokes the notion of the fragmented body, its own undeveloped form not yet fully under its
control. However, ultimately this stage is one of liberation. The infant, for all its physical
incapability is able to identify itself and yet it is free from its functions as a subject that it will
later undergo as it is indoctrinated into the world of language. This primary sense of ego in its
own reality is later destroyed by social determination and the constructs of normality, putting the I
in a place of permanent discordance with reality. This disturbance is similar to Freud s concept of
the uncanny, described by Bennett and Royle as ...not just a matter of what s weird and spooky,
but has more to do specifically with a disturbance of the familiar . Instances of the uncanny
emphasis this discrepancy between the world that our ego has constructed and the harsh truths we
are faced with in the Real. At this point, the relationship between the child and its surroundings has
changed. Where once the omnipotent mother served as its entire world, the infant now finds its
mind and body (the motherless, non extended self) fused perilously at the mercy of a new world.
However, our relation to the nature of this new world is distorted

The Challenges Of A Discourse Community
Discourse communities have existed and been discussed for many years. To become a member
of a discourse community one must be a part of something that many people can relate to,
experience is a key part of this. At the start of my freshman year I was subjected to change; my
life was moved from one location to another, and I was therefore forced to change schools. This
changeover had a significant effect on my life moving forward. I had to learn to adjust in a new
place, and adapt my personality to make myself more open and outgoing. This task was difficult
to say the least, as it was the first time in my life where I was faced with meeting new people, and
practically starting over, isn t the unknown the scariest of all?. However, I was never alone in my
struggle. Millions of people throughout the world have been put into the same situation as myself,
sometimes even more than once. I am part of a discourse community consisting of students who
have moved schools and been forced to adapt and fit into their new situations. Being a member of
this community has taught me that life comes with challenges, as... Show more content on

Carpal Tunnel Release Research Paper
Carpal Tunnel Release
Carpal tunnel release is a surgical procedure to relieve numbness and pain in your hand caused by
carpal tunnel syndrome.
Your carpal tunnel is a narrow, hollow space in your wrist. It passes between your wrist bones and
a band of connective tissue (transverse carpal ligament). The nerve that supplies most of your hand
(median nerve) passes through this space. So do the connections between your fingers and the
muscles of your arm (tendons). Carpal tunnel syndrome makes this space swell and narrow, causing
pain and numbness.
In carpal tunnel release surgery, a surgeon cuts through the transverse carpal tunnel ligament to
make more room in the carpal tunnel space. You may have this surgery if other types of treatment

How Does Edwidge Danticat Use Juxtaposition In Kirk Krak
When living in Haiti at the time of this book, you would see the harsh realities people , have to
face daily. The author of the book Kirk Krak, Edwidge Danticat, uses juxtaposition to clearly paint
a picture of this. She shows the ugly truth about Haiti during this time through the use of the
characters that face problems both good and bad every day. Juxtaposition is a very dynamic, hard
to define, and can be difficult to point out at times. However, in the examination of the short stories
one can find that it can be defined as the sheer difference between two totally different things.in the
book Kirk Krak, there are a series of short stories in which the author Edwidge Danticatutilizes
juxtaposition to create characters abandoned by their loved ones to in return create an overall
sense of isolation. The specific examples that best display characters that are abandoned that help
create this overall sense of isolation would be a depressed father, a childless maid, and a love
struck girl.

The Death Penalty Should Be Legalized
Cody Andersen
Mrs. Baker
Language 12A 1
03 Dec. 2015
The United States is divided by the death penalty. There is over half the amount of people that
are with the death penalty but there is a lot that oppose it. In 36 states they have legalized the
death penalty there are 14 that have abolished it. I believe the whole nation should legalize the
death penalty. There are many reasons as to why I believe the death penalty should be legalized in
every states, including deterrence retribution, and morality; and because opposing arguments do
not hold up. While the death penalty seems to be a stupid act, it is necessary because it creates less
crime, it does cost money, But has been historically found to have less crime.
The use of death penalty has less citizens committing crimes such as murder. People s greatest fear
is death; so forth if they know that death is an option for their actions, they are less likely to do
such actions. Ernest van den Haag, a professor at Fordham University, wrote about the issue of
deterrence:
Capital punishment is likely to deter more than other punishments because people fear death more
than anything else. They fear most death deliberately inflicted by law and scheduled by the courts
Hence, the threat of the death penalty may deter some murderers who otherwise might not have
been deterred. And surely the death penalty is the only penalty that could deter prisoners already
serving a life sentence and tempted to kill a guard, or offenders about to be

Have you ever been shamed for something you did wrong? How d it feel? Now imagine being
shamed in front of a whole town of people. How do you think that would feel? This is exactly
what Hester Prynne went through in The Scarlet Letter. It s also what I will go through soon. I

long run so I need to work on it. That way I can have redemption and be allowed to remove my

We may not realize we do, but it still happens. We do this by publicizing criminals on the news
and in newspapers; we talk about people on the internet and on television. I m positive we don t
mean any harm, but that doesn t stop it from hurting. Some people don t get over things like this
and broadcasting it will not help anyone. Take children for example, their childhood memories
will stick with them and publicly humiliating them will let them know that it s okay to do that to
their kids and even other people. You never, ever humiliate your child publicly, psychologist Dr.
Phil McGraw told TODAY s Matt Lauer. You re supposed to be the adult, the calm in the middle
of the storm, where you say, OK, you choose the behavior, you choose the consequences. But this
consequence was pretty radical. (Leigh Hewett: Public Humiliation as a Punishment). This kind of
public shaming has no record of efficacy in turning someone away from crime, Peggy McGarry,
director of the Center on Sentencing and Corrections at the Vera Institute of Justice, said in an e
mail. McGarry thinks this is especially true for small town, low level offenders: In a small town or
even a small city, subjecting someone to this might cause them to lose their job or jeopardize their
chances for future employment, housing, and/or credit, and subject family members to humiliation.

Significance Of Light In The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby is a dramatic tale of drama, romance, hate, and death but the theme of the story
is something much larger. The story of The Great Gatsby is set in New York in 1922 and spans
over several months. Even though this is the case of the story, the theme of the novel is symbolic of
1920s America in its entirety. What F. Scott Fitzgerald
depicts throughout the story is Gatsbys
strive and want for the american dream. Near the beginning of the story Gatsbys american dream
seems so close but as the story progresses it becomes more and more obvious that his dream is
unattainable. The green light in the story exemplifies this. Near the beginning of the story the light
is bright and burning and Gatsby is always looking at it but near the end of the story the light is
nothing special and is just a light.
In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald s overall theme is the corrupting influences of wealth and how
they affect the purity of a dream or in this case the american dream. In the story Nick says it best I

Abstract
Approximately four varieties of bacteria has been isolated from the ash dyke sample of four
power plants of Chhattisgarh. Total 6 isolates were found to be Pseudomonas sp, 12 isolates are
Bacillus sp., 4 are Staphylococcus sp. and 3 belongs to Archaebacteria. The strains were tested
for their tolerance against six different types of heavy metals dominant in the ash samples viz.
Pb, Hg, Ni, Co, Cu, Mn. Their maximum resistance existed upto 0.6mM/ml of the above
mentioned different metals under lab standard conditions. Six isolates are found suitable for the
multiple metal resistance ability viz SM 2, 3, 4, 5, 12 and 16. These are categorized as Bacillus
cereus (SM 2,3, 4, 5), Bacillus subtilis (SM 12), Bacterium KKCSSM (SM 16) after performing
16S rDNA sequencing.

One leadership strengths I possess is that I am a very good public speaker and am able to easily

A Brief Look at Karl Marx
A person does not have to positively impact the world to be influential. Karl Marx certainly left a
mark on the world, but whether his impact was revolutionary or simply detrimental is up to debate.
Marx was largely influenced by the ideas of Enlightenment figures like Adam Smith, David Ricardo,
and Hegel. Most know him in regard to his writing the Communist Manifesto and its influence on
revolutions that led to the formation of notoriously oppressive communist states. His ideas form the
base of modern international communism, and for that Michael Hart gives Karl Marxa ranking of
twenty seven in his book The 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History. This
ranking seems accurate given the factors that influenced him, his accomplishments, and their
effects on the world. Karl Marx drew from the philosophies of the great thinkers of his time to
perfect his ideal communist system. He was born into a time when ideas of the Enlightenment
were widespread. He read the works of Adam Smith, David Ricardo, and the Comte de Saint
Simon (Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia). However, he was especially influenced by G.W.F.
Hegel, the most prominent philosopher in Germany in the early 1800s (Microsoft Encarta). Hegel
believed that ideas evolve through a continual process of contradiction and resolution and that
human history is driven by this evolution. Consequently, Marx developed the belief that history
evolves through a series of conflicts in a predictable, unavoidable

Alfred Binet has developed the standardized test to identify learning disabled Parisian children in
the 1900s. If it possible to identify those of special needs then, it should hold responsibility today
to use this test to zoom in on the actual needs on the academic success of an individual. For
example, the scores of an individual can configure the placement of a child. The scores, for
example can trigger one s learning disability or another s gifted brain. Also, a score of one
hundred and thirty indicates exceptional intelligence, and a score below seventy translates into
mental retardation. The average score one will strike range from eighty five to one hundred. (

To illustrate, a child s low score can signal the child s intake of different instructions. A child may
also exceed in some skills like math or English but lack in other skills hinting the likelihood of a

  • 2. Alternative Responses When I find myself in an argument that seems to have no solution, when I feel there are unspoken motivations on the side of my conversational partner inflaming their irritation, I see that I have the power to change course. If I have this recognition, I can return to a place of more calm and ask, What is upsetting you right now? What do you feel is true or important that isn t getting across? To resolve this I want to really understand how you feel. Feelings are a point of contention right now. From millenials and their feelings about the workplace to the vocalization and protest of social justice warriors to the presence of alternative facts or truthiness what is felt or perceived to be true rather than what data supports. One response ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means involving feelings. How do people feel, really? What hurts or angers them? Why do they feel this way? What memories do they have leading to these feelings? How might their feelings influence their actions? That is the beginning of radical love and compassionate politics. These are the things considered by a good parent or friend or lover. We put down our defenses and irritation to consider why they act the way they do when they surprise or disappoint us, because we love them and believe them worthy of this generosity. Sometimes we decide, Oh, it s not her fault, her mother had severe OCD so when she s under stress she gets a little anxious about clutter. It s not that big of a deal. Then sometimes we decide it s too severe and say instead, I know she gets anxious about clutter because of her upbringing, but it s really getting out of control and damaging our relationship. What would help her heal that anxiety? And then you begin the conversation of compromise. Either way, that consideration, awareness, and generosity will go a long way helping each of you find a peaceful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Compare And Contrast Texas To Ohio State University In my paper I will discuss the different staff, facilities, and programs that both of the universities have. Both schools are great school, but each has very different Rec Sports and facilities. Just by looking at the pictures from both facilities, I would say that they are really nice and up to date. So I will compare and contrast Texas A M to Ohio State University. The first university that I will talk about is Texas A M, who has over 12,000 students who participate each year. They also have over 34 different programs that students can do for free. Intramural sports is a big part of any university. Texas has over 12,000 students that participate in intramural sports. • 4. The Garbage Of Trash Garbage Community Trash Pickup Trash, also known as litter is a very big concern everywhere in the world. Litter is nothing but a piece of waste or rubbish that has been disposed improperly, without consent and at wrong location. Littering simply means throwing away objects on the ground or leaving them lying on the ground instead of disposing them at garbage can, recyclingbin or trash container. (What is Litter? ) It is very concerning that there are only a few people who would like to make a change within their own community. The trash laying alongside the highways is very distracting, it makes you want to stop and pick it up. Many people who feel such a way decide that they need to come up with a plan that could get their community involved. The environment that we live in needs to be treated better, if only humans could take a second look at what it actually does look like. There are so many ideas and ways trash could be taken care of instead of just being disposed alongside the highways, on the streets, or anywhere else it does not belong besides in a garbage can. It is very disappointing that many people do not even care at all that the mother earth is very trashy. However, there are a few good people out there who take their time to keep their community looking nice and clean. It is surprising when you do notice the few places that you travel by are clean. Some ways that a community can get motivated in trash pickup would be to start off with your friends who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example, the other morning I tried to say good morning to a girl, who was on her phone, but she rolled her eyes at me and went back to scrolling on her phone. Honestly, I was disappointed that she could not say good morning back to me. Like Sullivan says, these iPod people are too wrapped up in their own world that talking to others is like a sin. People make it such a big deal when it comes to being social with someone. Instead of talking to someone new at the bus stop, they scroll through their phone just to pass the time. Combating Resistance to Organizational Change Essay Combating Resistance to Organizational Change By any objective measure, the amount of important, frequently distressing, change in organizations has grown enormously over the last two decades (Kotter, 1996). However, change is not a singular event with an isolated focus (Spector, 2007). Effective strategic renewal is a combination of the three faces of change turnaround, which targets costs; technology, which targets internal process; and behavioral, which targets employee actions and interactions (Spector, 2007). In a discussion on change management, particularly management by control versus management by shaping, Palmer, et al. (2009) draw a similar conclusion that organizations and human systems are complex and evolving and therefore cannot be reduced to a single, linear objective of maximizing shareholder value (p. 50). Forces for Change Despite some variations in change approach labels among academic research, it seems generally accepted that forces for change are the catalyst for change itself. Gibson, et al. (2009) classified forces for change into two groups; environmental and internal, and further described environmental forces as those generally beyond management s control and internal forces generally within management s control. These forces for change trigger an intervention or change process that can take any of three approaches: structural, behavioral, or technological (Gibson, et al. 2009). Similarly, Spector (2007) discussed change approaches as those of organizational turnarounds, behavioral and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cromwell s Responsibility For Expansions And Effectiveness Of Government Between 1530 and 1539 The most influential and controversial thesis concerning Cromwell s role in the revolution in government in the 1530s was Elton s The Tudor Revolution in Government . In this work, Elton asses Cromwell as the most remarkable revolutionary in English history. . Elton argued that Cromwell seized the unique opportunity presented by Henry VIII s martial problems to turn England into a unified, independent sovereign state, ruled by a constitutional monarch through national and bureaucratic institutions. The appointments of both the Earl of Norfolk and Charles Brandon, Earl of Suffolk, seem indicative of a politically and religiously conservative council. These facts obviously take responsibility for these changes away from Cromwell. The importance of the executive Privvy Council is that it gave drive and continuity to royal government owing to the stability of its membership no longer did the impetus need to come from the monarch or chief minister. This would be particularly important after Cromwell s downfall in the 1540s, when Henry did not allow another Cromwell to emerge and his powers were failing, and even more after 1547 when Edward VI was a boy, succeeded by two women. The Privvy Council took over responsibility for the executive. It had certainly taken over the management of the day to day business on behalf of the monarch by Elizabeth s reign, but it is most doubtful that this occurred in the 1530s or that Cromwell planned it. Several other objections have been raised to Elton s assessment of the development of the Privvy Council. Elton argued that Cromwell was able by the reorganisation of the haphazard medieval Council into a more formally constituted board of government; and by the promotion of the principal secretary (himself) to get himself appointed the chief executive and co ordinating minister. Within, an essay titled On Dumpster Diving shares his experiences and how they define his identity. Eighner views identity not solely on his status of a scavenger, but rather on how his experiences shape his identity and how he acts despite his circumstances. Similarly, as a student, my own identity is not based on my status, but rather on how my behavior is shaped in my situations. The identities of individuals are defined by how they live, how they react, and how they behave in all circumstances, not on their status or profession. Throughout Eighner s essay, he utilizes various strategies to explain the process of Dumpster divingand how his personal experiences have shaped his own identity. Starting with a narrative, the author describes his passion for Dumpsters and his financial reasons for becoming a scavenger. Transitioning into a didactic tone, Eighner then defines various terms surrounding this idea of Dumpsterdiving and contrasts the meaning of a scavenger and scrounger. To him, scavenging is a sound and honorable niche (55), while scrounging is crude and demeaning. An Alternative Basis For Enforcing Promises Contract is generally defined as a promise or set of promises for the breach of which the law gives a remedy, or the performance of which the law in some ways recognizes as a duty (Restatement (Second) of the Law of Contracts В§ 1). Hence, when a person sues someone for breach of contract, it only means that the defendant fails to fulfill his promise to the plaintiff (Maggs, p. 1). If this happens, there are two options that the court may ask to the defendant pay the plaintiff or perform the promise. A promise is enforceable by the law if it comprised the two bases to be considered legally recognized reliance and consideration. Reliance is deemed as an alternative basis for enforcing promises (Maggs, p. 13). On the other hand, consideration is defined for a promise as something a performance or another promise given in exchange for the promise as a part of a bargain (Maggs, p. 13). God to the people of the big three monotheist religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) see god as an all knowing, all seeing, and all powerful being. I believe that that the Cosmological argument gives good reason to believe in the existence of God. The Cosmological argument focuses on everything having a cause except one thing that started it all, this starter is known as the Prime Mover . The Prime Mover is the one that starts everything without anything having a previous effect on it. With that people have assumed that the logical answer to who the prime mover is, is God. This to me seems the most logical of arguments because although there is the idea of eternity and an eternal cycle there has to be a starting point. I do not believe the argument is successful. The reason that the argument does not succeed is because what proof is there that the prime mover is an all powerful all mighty being? There could be alternate reasons related to science, The Big Bang Theory, which could also be a reason. One of Aquinas s arguments against the cosmological argument discussed that since everything in nature had a time where it did not exist there had to be a time where it was nothing to bring anything into being. The Is A Efficient Mode Of Transportation Over the years, cycling has been proven to be the cleanest and most efficient mode of transportation, which explains the increasing demand to further develop its sustainability (Tripodi 2015, p. 143). Bike sharing systems have provided a means of transportation in dense cities with their minor infrastructure requirements and promise of a cleaner future. Public bicycleprograms have grown in popularity in recent years because of their initiatives to increase cycle usage, the benefit of connectivity without the troubles of personal vehicles, and the decrease of environmental impacts as a result of our transport activities (DeMaio 2009, p. 41). The original concept of these systems had many flaws, but as technology has developed to improve the tracking system, rapid expansion continues throughout Europe and across the globe. With growing climate change and the dependence on oil becoming more of a problem, people are beginning to look towards more responsible ways of living (Vidalis, et al. 2010, p. 1).
