Job Application Essay
Crafting a compelling essay on the topic of "Job Application" can be a challenging endeavor.
This task requires a delicate balance of self-promotion, humility, and a keen understanding of
what the prospective employer is seeking. You are essentially tasked with presenting yourself as
the ideal candidate for the position while maintaining authenticity and professionalism.
The difficulty lies in articulating your skills, experiences, and achievements in a way that not
only showcases your qualifications but also aligns seamlessly with the company's values and
requirements. Striking this balance can be a meticulous process, as you must carefully tailor your
essay to the specific job description and company culture.
Moreover, there's the challenge of avoiding clichГ©s and generic statements that may make your
application blend in with countless others. It's crucial to stand out from the crowd, making a
lasting impression on the reader.
The introspective aspect of the essay can also be demanding. You may find yourself reflecting
on your past accomplishments and setbacks, evaluating your professional journey, and
identifying key strengths that set you apart. This introspection requires a level of self-awareness
that can be both enlightening and challenging.
Additionally, the pressure to adhere to word limits and formatting guidelines adds an extra layer
of complexity. Every word must contribute to your narrative, conveying your unique value
proposition without unnecessary embellishment or verbosity.
Ultimately, writing a job application essay is a nuanced task that demands time, effort, and a
deep understanding of both oneself and the prospective employer. It's an artful blend of self-
expression, persuasion, and adherence to professional norms.
If you find yourself struggling with this process, or if you simply want to explore alternative
options, professional writing services like HelpWriting.net offer assistance with various types
of essays. Whether you need support with job application essays, academic papers, or any other
written task, these services provide a platform to connect with experienced writers who can help

Qualitative Case Study In Organizational Politics
Methodology
In order to explore individual meanings, definitions, examples and attitudes about
organizational politics other authors used a purely qualitative methodology
(Buchanan, 1999; Buchanan and Badham, 1999). This research uses a case study as
the research strategy that allows researchers to concentrate „on a single
phenomenon or entity (the case), from which the researcher uncovers the interaction
of significant factors characteristic of the phenomenon. The case study focuses on
holistic description and explanation . Merriam (1998:29). Moreover, one review
found that case studies to be the most popular qualitative research strategy primarily
due to its potential to generate novel and groundbreaking theoretical insights
(Piekkari, Welch Paavilainen, 2009).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using the qualitative case study approach can help find answers to the what, how and
why questions of the case to achieve a better understanding of the phenomenon
studied by providing a descriptive and explanatory account (Yin, 2003). Finally, the
analysis of the case should generate an understanding and explanation of why the
story unfolded in the way it did. The micro political perspective can help readers
understand how managers behaved and managed the change which was based on the
goals, interests, experiences, interpretation and views of the participants involved.
The authors decided to limit the research to only one real time case study of an
organization undergoing organizational restructuring. Yin (2009) argues that the use
of single case designs is legitimate in following situations:

Monteverdi As An Epic Poem Analysis
Composing an opera seems like a daunting task, now imagine trying to take an Epic
Poem and make it into an opera, it seems almost like an ultimate challenge; a
challenge only few would take on. One of the most famous composers who took on
this challenge was Claudio Giovanni Antonio Monteverdi famously known only as
Monteverdi, was one of the greatest composers of his time and he was able to bring
classical Greek Epic Poems to life. Even though Monteverdi was one of the greatest
composers of his times it must have been very daunting challenge to take a story that
had been only really heard and written down almost from interpretation from the
Greeks and turn it into an Italian Opera. Another challenge he may have faced was
condensing the long Epic Poem so that the audience could sit through the opera and
still get the most important points of the Epic Poem. One of biggest problems
Monteverdi must have encountered was when he first began to compose the story of
Ulysses there was the challenge that it was in a completely different language. Homer
wrote the Odysseyin Greek and Monteverdi was Italian, to add to this the Greek
Homer wrote the story in was completely different from the Greek that the native
people spoke. Even though the Odyssey was already being translated, no one really
knew how to translate Greek; it had been a langue that basically disappeared for
some time. This could have mean that some of the story could have literally been
lost in translation, or the Italian scholars could have added even some parts of the
story accidently due to misinterpretation. Monteverdi being one the greatest
composers would have had to study the story of Ulysses and known the story
thoroughly no matter what translation he may have read or heard. Knowing the
plot of the story he would then have to match musical pieces to each of the
characters, and there were many characters in this Epic Poem, who were
fundamental to this opera even more difficult to compose. Not only did Monteverdi
have to face a language barrier but also, he then had to keep in mind each character
Homer wrote about. Homer incorporated many people into the Odyssey, including
characters from his past works as well as the gods as they played a
8th Amendment History
One of the many things that has been highly controversial and still is to this very
day is how to properly punish and treat criminals. Here in America we now have
the Eighth Amendment to protect us from cruel and unusual punishment. This
was based off of a Parliament Act of 1689 that created England s Bill of Rights.
Before England had come up with the idea that humans should have guaranteed
basic rights, it wasn t a matter of whether or not a criminal would die, as much as it
was a matter of how they would die. Torture devices such as the guillotine, the
stake, the brazen bull, and the rack were used to spread the idea of fear and
punishment that was ineffectually used by leaders to try and control their people
throughout the history of Europe. Ironically, the guillotine was considered to be the
more humane of the torture devices. This is why it is so well known and was used
very often throughout history. The guillotine was a device used to execute its victim
by beheading them. It is made with a tall wooden structure that supports a slanted
and sharp blade at the top that was suspended by a rope. Located at... Show more

The brazen bull is an excellent example. Also known as the bronze bull or Sicilian
bull, this device was another method of killing with fire. It was made of a solid
piece of metal and had a door that was used to place and lock the victim inside. This
bull shaped metal deathtrap was then placed over a fire that slowly baked the person
inside while they screamed and cried until they no longer could. The bull was
purposely designed to amplify these screams and make them sound like the bellowing
of a bull. (Pegg, list25.com) The brazen bull, created additional amusement for the
audience, and served the added benefit of distancing them from the brutality of the
torture, since they couldn t directly see the victim, (Grabianowski,
history.howstuffworks.com) unlike how graphic the deaths by burning at the stake
The Glass Menagerie Comparison
Many would never consider comparing the 1945 American classic play The Glass
Menagerie by Tennessee William, and the 2015 short film World of Tomorrow by
Don Hertzfeldt; however, both rely heavily on a complex memory motif that tries to
conceptualize past hurts in order to face the present woes of life. Furthermore, in
both the film and the play, the viewer is called to become aware of the distortions
that dreams can bring to the format that the story is being narrated. They are each an
example of a case of complex love mixed in with past hurts which then morphs into
formula for a frustrating uncertain futurewhere one never truly understand what is to
come. Calling for the visualization of the past and presentsimultaneously, each story

Flirting with the idea of fragility of life and specifically the future, both have
physical representations of these ideas. This is exemplified in two specific places in
The Glass Menagerie in reference to Laura. First, the physical representation of the
fragility of the future is Laura s glass animals. When Laura crushes the glass unicorn
in her hand when she finds out Jim has a serious girlfriend, this represents Laura s
future coming crashing down. The reader gets the sense that the young maiden will
never find love and that she shall live her future forever alone. Similarly, in The
World of Tomorrow, the physical representation of the fragility of the future is human
life itself. With the process of cloning, which consists of impregnating Emily with her
cloned self, where then her memories are then transferred to the new Emily.
Attempting to avoid death through the impregnation process, this all comes crashing
down when a meteor comes crashing down onto the earth. In both stories, the attempt
to continue on one s legacy into the future is abruptly stopped and quite literally
breaks apart.
Furthermore, both stories have uniquely incorporated multimedia aspects to further
express the themes of the stores. In the script of The Glass Menagerie, stage queues
of a screen which depict things such as an image of a high school hero (989). In
World of Tomorrow, Emily Third opens a
Time Capsules from Renaissance and Baroque Periods
For almost two years, we have been in search of what we believed were time
capsules, hidden away between the years of 1400, when the Renaissance period
started, and 1750 which marks the end of the Baroque period. We are pleased to
announce that our nearly twenty four year search has ended in the discovery of
two such capsules. Each of these capsules contains information, vital to the
understanding of past cultures and their origins, and necessary to the development
of culture today. In what we re now referring to as Cap A , we have discovered two
very well known pieces of Art. One, now referred to as the world s most famous
smile, is the Mona Lisa. Leonardo Da Vincicreated this masterpiece in 1503 using a
style known as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also composed and left for us, Missa Prolatium .
There was a second capsule discovered which we ll call Capsule B. In this capsule
are reminders for us of life during the Baroque Period. John Locke, who was born in
1632 and died at the age of 73, left for us his most famous works. The Essay
Concerning Human Understanding tries to answer the questions where ideas come
from and are our senses reliable. Another very famous, more reliable philosopher,
Baruch Spinoza left behind his works in which he discredited the scriptures because
he said they were all influenced by the period in which they were written. He
claimed that Jesus preached a religion of reason that valued love higher that all else.
He was later excommunicated.
It seems, one week after his death, Peter Paul Rubens home was inventoried and
there were thousands of works found inside. The Adoration of the Magi, and
Sampson and Delilah were found among the collection of work. Renaissance
literature that will forever be etched in our minds was discovered in this capsule.
One of the greatest influences of our time left evidence of his existence. William
Shakespeare deposited two of his most famous works into this capsule. Romeo and
Juliet and Hamlet were these two literary masterpieces. Although Shakespeare never
published any of his work, he did feel it important to leave these two plays in this
capsule.

Essay On A Diamond
With the rarity of oval cuts, it can be tough to find a diamond that makes a great
engagement ring. Luckily, if you love oval cut gemstones, you ll be able to find
plenty of other rings with that shape.
Oval gemstones and diamond rings are more affordable than some other cuts like
the brilliant round, yet, they have a brighter shine and look larger than the round
cut. It s a surprise how many people will go with a traditional round when they
could get a larger stone with an oval. Along with more gem for the dollar, women
also get the added bonus an oval cut that makes the finger appear slimmer. You
really can t beat the oval cut. Now, we ll proceed with some of our favorite choices!

Diagnosis Of Major Depressive Disorder
Depression affects many individuals worldwide, indiscriminant of race, gender or
age. Depression is found across cultures, genders, with slight differing of
symptomatology found worldwide (Burnett Zeigler et al., 2012, p. 123; Cuijpers
Schoevers, 2004 p. 430; Watters, 2010). In 2012, the World Health Organization
(WHO), estimated that over 350 million people suffer from depressive symptoms
worldwide. Accurate diagnosis of Major Depressive Disorder(MDD) in other
countries can be challenging, as individuals are not assessed regularly in primary care
clinics. Across many cultures, somatic symptoms tend to be reported more frequently
than emotional and behavioral symptoms, with treatment primarily prescribed for the
physical symptom, which doesn t address the individuals faulty beliefs, impacting
feelings and behaviors. Not only are people suffering from the tremendous
symptomology of depression, but increased deaths, due to suicide, frequent this
population (Cuijpers Schoevers, 2004, p. 420).
The demand for evidenced base screening tools and qualified clinicians who have
the skills to accurately diagnose and provide evidenced treatment modalities are an
increasing need and continue to gain significant attention of agencies such as
Medicaid and Medicare. Both Medicaid and Medicare provide financial support for
medical services needed by clients living in poverty, clients whom are elder and/or
are disabled. These populations includes many people who are unable to work,

A College Education Is Not Worth It
As of 2016, the average college graduate makes 50,556 dollars straight out of
college, while the average high school graduate only makes 33,904 dollars straight
out of high school. With such a large difference between having a high school degree
and one from a college, there should be no question that a collegeeducation is worth
it, yet some people still make arguments that college is not worth it. People bring
forth claims like the debt that students are in, that a college degree has lost value in

Douglas Belkin of the Wall Street Journal argues that getting a college degree
keeps people from saving for retirement, and the loans that they need to pay off
delay it even more. While saving for retirement may start later when getting a
degree, the extra money will eventually make up for the lost time and eventually
surpass what someone would have saved without going to college. Despite talking
about being able to save much for retirement during college, Procon.org also jumps
to the other side of the debate and says that 70% of college graduates had access to
employer provided health insurance. (Procon.org) This will help graduates both at
a young age for any health problems they have and at an older age when they are
more susceptible to diseases. In addition, Procon.org also informs readers that 70%
of college graduates 25 years old and older had access to retirement plans.
(Procon.org) This means that college graduates will have a good chance of being
set for retirement when the time comes, and hopefully, it will be one where they
have some extra money to spend. Last but not least, according to Procon.org, a
college degree has a return of 15% per year as an investment, larger than the stock
market (6.8%) and housing (0.4%). (Procon) With college being twice as good as an
investment than the stock market, which is known for having a high payout, then it
would have huge returns

Although he has identified the challenges, he also recommends ways of
implementing innovation in government. Let s first start off by identifying what
Borins has identified under the five building blocks of innovation in his report.
Ways of Acting:
In The Challenge of Innovating in Government, Sandford Borins (2006) report first
identifies the five innovation building blocks. The first building block was the use of
a system approach. According to Borins (2006), from a previous study, approached
the data with his own classification scheme for the characteristics of the innovations,
partnership, which was one component. Borins (2006) identified that there are
varying levels of complexity and comprehensiveness of organizational partners and
cooperative arrangements.
Building block two: the use of information technology systems in large government
are large and expensive, and experience has shown that some systems have been
costly and disastrous failures (Borins, 2006). Information technology is widely
considered as a way of innovation, but with the technologic advancement it has been
a challenge for government.
Building block three: process improvement refers to innovation designed to make
governmental processes faster, friendlier, or more acceptable (Borins, 2006).
According to Borins (2006), these initiatives often involved applications of the
Pareto rule (20 percent of the cases are responsible for 80 percent of the workload,

In addition, it generally declares that globalisation as an exogenous force has eroded
national economic sovereignty (Quiggin, 2001). A neoliberal account of globalisation
described a viewpoint that states, to some extent, have lost much of the economic
sovereignty during the 1990s (Ohmae, 1990). It is especially destructive for
developing countries. As the economic globalisation of the world develops rapidly,
the trade contacts and economic cooperation among various countries become more

and highly developed countries are not reciprocal. Under the Lome convention,
African exports have preferential treatment in the EU; conversely, African countries

violent combat against other gladiators, in hope to win and keep their lives at the end
of their gruesome battles. Although, the 1960 s movie Spartacus, with Kirk Douglas,
had a few differences demonstrating how actual gladiators trained in Rome, it still
contains more accurate scenes displaying their intense training. The movie showed
the kind of training schools they were in, the armor used, and the styles of fighting
that they practiced to prepare these men, as they did hundreds of years ago in Rome.
To begin with, around 264 BC the gladiator games were introduced in Rome, called
Munera. These games were initially hosted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In Rome, there were around 30 different gladiators that were experts with the
different shields, weapons, and armor. There were the elite gladiators, who were
freed and decided to remain as gladiators. Then there were heavily armed gladiators
that had a lot of armor and were protected, but had very little movement when
fighting. Finally, there were the lightly armed gladiators, they had little to no
armor, but had the ability to move more freely when fighting. The armor used
during their practices was wooden swords and shields instead of real equipment,
for the protection of the gladiators, the soldiers, and trainers who worked there.
When it was time for a match the gladiators would use real swords, shields, and
sometimes armor to battle (Types of Gladiators). The gladiators also were used to
represent strong gods by the way they were dressed and the weapons they used.
For instance, there were unusual weapons, such as a trident, used by the god
Neptune, and the use of a net to follow the water god theme (Retiarri). Unlike in
actual gladiator schools, in the movie, it did not seem to have the men separated by
their specialty but they all train together. Spartacus, and the other gladiators did train
using wooden swords and shields. There was a scene were Spartacus had to actually
fight till the death with another gladiator from the school, because some wealthy
government men and their wives came to Ludi Gladiatorium and wanted to see a
fight. They paid a high percentage of money to make this happen, since it was not
allowed to fight these gladiators till death in the schools. Spartacus was given a short
sword and a shield, while his opponent was given a fish net and a trident to battle.
Although, Spartacus did not win that fight because his opponent spared his life, the
man did unfortunately get murdered on
Freddie Mercury s Bohemian Rhapsody
Rock and roll holds a lot of dirty secrets, fortunately for Queen s lead singer Freddie
Mercury has a more colorful mystery. Queens album A Night at The Opera released
a single in 1975 called Bohemian Rhapsody , which sent listeners in a whirlwind of
up beat rhythms. Behind the elegant vibratos and shredding guitar solos, Bohemian
Rhapsodyis Mercury peeling away his rock star persona by confessing his
homosexuality through religious allusions and creative metaphors.
Like any confession Mercury starts off by apologizing to his mother,
metaphorically stating he is done with playing as a straight male claiming that life
style is behind him. Second stanza he bellows Mama, just killed a man Put a gun
against his head Pulled my trigger, now he s dead... (Bohemian), Jim Hutton
explains to Lesley Ann Jones, author of biography Mercury that He,s dead, the
straight person he was originally, he s destroyed the man he was trying to be, and
now this is him, trying to live with the new Freddie (Jones). Next, he says Mama my

let anyone stop what he feels is right. Then he criticizes his god for leaving one of

Aristotle Was a Greek Philosopher and Polymath
ARISTOTLE
Aristotle was a Greek philosopher and polymath, a student of Plato and teacher of
Alexander the Great. His writings cover many subjects, including physics,
metaphysics, poetry, theater, music, logic, rhetoric, linguistics, politics, government,
ethics, biology, and zoology. Together with Plato and Socrates (Plato s teacher),
Aristotle is one of the most important founding figures in Western philosophy.
Aristotle s writings were the first to create a comprehensive system of Western
philosophy, encompassing morality, aesthetics, logic, science, politics, and
metaphysics.
Aristotle s views on the physical sciences profoundly shaped medieval scholarship,
and their influence extended well into the Renaissance, although they were ... Show

In 322 BC Aristotle was forced to flee Athens with his family when the political
leadership reacted against the Macedonians again and his previously published works
supporting Macedonian rule left him a target. He passed on his Lyceum to
Theophrastus and died later that year in Chalcis, near his hometown.
It is during this period in Athens from 335 to 323 BC when Aristotle is believed to
have composed many of his works. Aristotle wrote many dialogues, only fragments of
which survived. The works that have survived are in treatise form and were not, for
the most part, intended for widespread publication, as they are generally thought to
be lecture aids for his students. His most important treatises include Physics,
Metaphysics, Nicomachean Ethics, Politics, De Anima (On the Soul) and Poetics.
Aristotle not only studied almost every subject possible at the time, but made
significant contributions to most of them. In physical science, Aristotle studied
anatomy, astronomy, embryology, geography, geology, meteorology, physics and
zoology. In philosophy, he wrote on aesthetics, ethics, government, metaphysics,
politics, economics, psychology, rhetoric and theology. He also studied education,
foreign customs, literature and poetry. His combined works constitute a virtual
encyclopedia of Greek knowledge. It has been suggested that Aristotle was probably
the last person to know everything there was to be known in his own time.

The Evil Of Evil People
Evil People By nature, humankind tends to be more evil than good. Even though,
some people are born with kinder temperament than others, everyone is conceived
and birth in sin (Psalm 58.3). For this, in many traditions, once a woman gives birth,
the baby is either baptized or blessed by his community to welcome him into the
world, and to remove him from sin. People are naturally self centered, jealous, mean
individuals who want to gain, but not work hard. They crave violence, and would
instantly cut corners wherever possible to get whatever they want, even if it means
to be consciously good from time to time. As misunderstood by many, a person does
not have to commit heinous act such as to kill, to enslave or to rape all conscious
activities, to be evil. As long as he had thought of evil, was born with sin, and is evil,
his nature is evil. Babies scratch, kick, bite and give people misery even before they
are exposed to life or could tell that what they are doing is bad and painful, and
people tend to show their true self when there is no one around to judge them. As
stated in the Bible, the rod and reproof gives wisdom, but a child left to himself
brings shame to his mother (Prov.29:15). If a child is not consciously trained and
disciplined by his elders, who learned from their elders, he could pander to his
predisposed fondness of envy, hatred and selfishness. And, if he indulges this
fondness, it would lead him into wrangling and strife, and all sense of courtesy
Essay about eugene v. Debs
Eugene V. Debs Citizen and Socialist
Nick Salvatore s book Eugene V. Debs Citizen and Socialist provides a very detailed
account of the life and times and Eugene Debs. Debs was born in Terre Haute Indiana
and Salvatore emphasizes the important role that this played in Debs upbringing.
Terre Haute was ripe with religious fundamentalism from its founding. Religion
permeated everyday life throughout Terre Haute. Salvatore writes that, In newspaper
editorials, political speeches, civic dedications and Sunday sermons they assured the
kingdom of God had already arrived and that their town was destined to become the

a reputation as an outstanding citizen and was named the secretary of the Vigo

this time he was closely associated with the railroad workers and saw their
consistent oppression by their capitalist employers. Despite this he was dedicated
to maintaining a union comprised of sober outstanding laborers who could best
serve their employers. By 1879 he was elected grand secretary of the BLF and
editor of the magazine. In this role he gained crucial experience in labor organizing
on a larger scale and elevated his status as a effective leader in the labor movement.
During this time he saw consistent wage cuts forced on these upstanding citizens and
workers which began to galvanize the idea within him that the corporations were not
interested in the quality of labor of their employees. Instead they were interested in
only creating a profit for themselves at any cost and reducing the value of a man to
his work.
Debs had not yet believed in or subscribed to socialist values at this time and as a
rising figure in Terre Haute he was elected as city clerk in 1879 on the democratic
ticket for two consecutive terms. He liked being closely associated with local politics
and his community in this position. In
Reflective Essay On Astronomy
The last time I remember learning about astronomy formally was as far back as
elementary school, where we learned about the basics of our solar system s planets
and other ideas about space commonly known by most people. Having never
studied astronomy at a higher level, going into this class felt similar to traveling to
a foreign country, or sailing in foreign waters, so to speak. Many of the concepts
and facts have been things I have had little to no prior knowledge of. But
regardless of any of that, I cannot express the importance of this area of study in my
life. In the past I have read comments online, as well as heard things in real life,
about how some subjects have no value in being studied unless one is majoring in
them. While my major is not astronomy, much less even science, I still could not
disagree more with this sort of thought. I can relate to some of the concepts of
astronomy on a very deep and personal level, to the point where my psychological
state is affected, and I will explain these thoughts in detail later. While these areas
of great interest have not yet been covered in the course, I cannot say that I have not
found all of the current topics fascinating. As one who has a deep interest in
mathematics, I found a few of the concepts rather thought provoking, and I will
again this later. I will lastly discuss what I thought of the material as a whole, what I
got most out of it, and what my experiences were during and after learning it. Out of

Wall E Movie Analysis
WALL E Movie Review
Wall e is an animated Pixar movie starring an adorable robot named WALL E that
roams the inhabited Earth...700 years in the future. This film is not only great from
an environmental perspective but also from a perspective of a teenager. The
animated characters are adorable and the movie does a great job at creating a picture
of the fact that the Earth doesn t last forever. The movie starts off with WALL E
collecting materials around the widely polluted and trashed surface. There are no
humans here because the Earth became too dirty and trashed to live on. The
earthlings left the Earth in despair and now live on a space shuttle called the Axiom .
Will mankind survive...has the IQ of the human race decreased too much to save the
crumbling Earth?
This science fiction movie is certainly a futuristic environmental story in my
opinion. The writers and directors wrote this movie in order to wake up the people
of the Earth and to tell us that we can t go on much longer before our world spirals
into a mess. Humans should stop polluting the Earth, and this film was spreading
awareness about this fact.

The Customs Union And The European Union
The customs union is first and foremost an essential component of the internal market
of the European Union. The customs union is a free trade area with a common
external tariff. This is the common external tariff that transforms a free trade area into
a customs union. The European Union has also developed a common trade policy
with third countries which is a complement of the customs union. The customs union
is a central element of the trade policy.
The customs union and the common commercial policy are two of five exclusive
competences or federal powers of the European Union; the other three are the
competition rules, monetary policy and the conservation of marine biological

as Andorra (the latter only for manufactured products). Also part of the customs

Member States of the European Union.
The common external tariff has replaced national tariffs (tariffs in particular); it
consists of all duties on imports into the territory of the Community of products from
third countries. For certain agricultural products the TEC has been replaced by
agricultural levies. The resources come from the TEC and agricultural levies form
part of own resources and the budget of the European Union.
Community preference is to give priority to Community production with imports
from third countries to the Community, using three main instruments: customs duties,
levies and export refunds.
In principle, the TEC applies to agricultural products imported from outside the
Community. But for the agricultural products that are subject to market
organizations, TEC is replaced by an agricultural levy.
The agricultural levy allows to enforce
Orphan Trains And The Children
Orphan Trains Orphan trains is a documentary about children in New York, being
sent on trains to other parts of the country, in order to find families and be taken care
of. There are stories from, adults that actually rode on these trains when they were
children. The Orphan Trains was started by a man named Charles Loring Bracein
1854. Brace, had traveled to New York in the early 1850 s, and was horrified at the
conditions of all the children he saw on the street. Brace felt that it was a duty to
help these children out, and decided that the only way to help these children was to
get them away from their surroundings, and send them away to be raised in nice,
Christian homes around the country. So, in 1853, Brace founded the Children s...

Being homeless was also an exclusion. These are two exclusions that keep the
children in, Orphan Trains , from being full citizens. Even though the children are not
full citizens, they are not totally severed from mainstream society, so they actually
have second class citizenship. The founding of the Children s Aid Society was to
help the children live a better life. People believed that, these children had a right to
be taken care of and that it was their responsibility, to ensure that these children got
put into homes. So, the children had second class citizenship that is, having marginal
connections to mainstream institution, rights, and responsibilities. Even though they
were just children, they had duties. They were expected to live with a new family
and learn the work ethic that was taught to them, as well as behave in the way that
children are supposed to in society. They had the right to a certain standard of
civilization. Meaning, they deserved to live in good homes, with families that could
teach them good moral values and duties needed to become citizens in society, when
they grew up. Orphan Train children had a social citizenship. They had the right to
live life according to societies standards. They had a minimum of economic welfare
and security, with being sent to new homes where they wouldn t be homeless and
anymore, and they went to families where they could get an education and healthcare.

Commentary On The Song Humble And Kind By Tim
Mcgraw
Humble and Kind In today s midst of commotion, many of us seem to forget to
stop, take a breath, and consider the moments that escape our everyday lives. A
result of this includes memories fading due to our hectic schedules. Soon we find
ourselves alone with no one to share our success with. Friends become people
whom you pass by in the shopping mall, or have stalked their pages on social media
and accustom yourself to saying you developed a friendship. Familyevents become a
time to connect with others solely through a reunion once a year. These examples
are few and far between the habitual factors each of us display day in and day out.

opinion, he speaks the truth and lectures that you must hold on to your morals. I

Simply holding a door for someone as they walk out, or saying thank you for a

Adipoyl Synthesis
Introduction The purpose of this experiment was to chemically develop Nylon 6,6 by
combining adipoyl chloride to the 1,6 hexanediamine solution. According to the
American Chemical Society, polymers are created from repeated pieces that are
connected together.1 The pieces are called monomers. The synthesis of polymers is
called polymerization. Two types of polymerization reactions are addition reactions
and condensation reactions. Addition reactions result in addition polymers.1 One
type of addition reaction is the synthesis of polystyrene from the styrene monomer.
Styrene is also known as phenylethene.2 Condensations reactions are just like
addition reactions except that there is a side product produced that needs to be
removed as it is formed.3 This experiment was a condensation polymerization
reaction because hydrochloric acid was the condensate for this reaction. To avoid
HCl from affecting the production of the main product, Nylon 6,6, Sodium

The Amazon Rainforest Is The Largest Rainforest Of The
World
Background: The Amazon rainforest is the largest rainforest in the world, covering
one billion acres. The rainforest is predominately in Brazil, but also borders the
countries of Peru, Columbia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname and French
Guiana. The unique biosphere of the Amazon is a result of millions of years of
evolution. The Amazon is a damp and wet climate; with so much rain the soils of the
Amazon are thin, yet, they grow the some of the tallest trees on earth. In some parts
of the rainforest, sandy soils are found, which have evolved through erosion over
millions of years. The soils of the Amazon are the foundation of the rainforest and,
although these soils have lost their mineral content and fertility, rich and lush
rainforests grow on them (WWF, 2013). The atmosphere of the Amazon allows for
organic matter to decompose expeditiously, creating high nutrient and fertile topsoil.
However, organisms reabsorb these new nutrients as quickly as they were formed.
The Amazon is home to one in every ten animals on Earth, and plays a vital role in
regulating the global climate. Soy has contributed to deforestationand soil erosion in

throughout the Amazon; this equilibrium allows for one of the most diverse

dilemmas which often throw him off the path to the Celestial city. However,
whenever someone is with him or aids him, he prevails and acquires more and more
wisdom. If he has a constant guide or companion in his journey, it will be less

Essay on A Lesson before Dying
In the world we live in today, religion is an extremely vibrant factor, not only in the
environment surrounding us but with the people we interact with as well. In Ernest
J. Gaines novel, A Lesson Before Dying, it is easy to see how religion impacts the
community. In a small community such as this noveldepicts, religionis the driving
force behind nearly every decision made in the story and can be justified solely on
the individual s values.
It is interesting to view religion as the most visible consistency in the novel when the
main character, Grant Wiggins, is himself an atheist. Although he himself does not

around him. Grant, an educated man, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this instance we have a man, Jefferson, who needs help to be able to regain his
dignity and die like a man. Even though Grant, an atheist, would not be helping him
do so through religion, he will give him understanding of the importance of his case
to the community.
Religion has many faces in the novel as one would expect, but one face that rings
true is the notion that through religion one can gain dignity. As you can imagine,
living in the South in times such as these was certainly a detriment to African
Americans such as the characters in the novel, but why is it then that African
Americans put, more often than not, so much clout to the community and its
church? For simple reasons of course, because inside the church is where one can
gain back the dignity that is lost nearly everyday through racism. Church is the
only place where anyone can be a leader. Church is the place to express yourself
freely and come together to share a ceremony where racism is not present. Most
importantly church is the place to recognize and evaluate the lives of so many
people that are continually being marginalized. This can be seen as another strong
factor on how religion is central to the community. For example, people that become
leaders inside the church are looked at with more respect, such as Miss Emma, Tante
Lou, and Reverend Ambrose; three very active

A calculator is a machine that can perform arithmetic functions with numbers,
including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
The Technological Edge: Electronics
Today s computers are automatic, in that they can perform most tasks without the
need for human intervention. They require a type of technology that was
unimaginable in the nineteenth century. As Figure 1B.1 shows, nineteenth century
inventor Charles Babbage came up with the first design for a

My Mother Tongue Essay
Language is simply a tool for people of the universe to communicate with one another
and it makes the World more complicated but also interesting. Language makes you
share something, makes people understand you through expressing yourself or your
opinion. Starting from the very early stages of human life there ve been lots of
various languages which were the ways for the connection among populations. Now,
in our modern days we have many languages from the very famous and international
ones to the languages of small communities. Every culture has its own main language
and people value their own language differently from many aspects. For some people
speaking in your own mother tongue where you must speak the language of the place
you ve born is important, for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s something that a person learns from birth, it s a first language, it s a native
language etc. But here in the article, it s something associated with the Amy Tan s
mother and her tongue, she speaks her own language, there s a special
communication between them. ...But to me my mother s English is perfectly
clear, perfectly natural. It s my mother tongue The author mainly writes about the
relationship between her and her mother, and also the effect of broken English in
their life. She was born in the USA, California differently from her mother who
was born in China and then migrated to the USA. She describes herself as a
language lover, a simple writer who likes thinking about the power of language,
creativities, imaginations, emotions and ideas it can evoke. She s not an expert on
English but enjoys being herself with her identity, it s not important where she
comes from or which language she speaks for herself. But, for the people around
her and her family it s a great deal sometimes. Not having enough knowledge in a
particular language or being not able to express yourself while you re intelligent
actually is a serious issue for those people. She is lucky about being
Windows versus Linux
Windows, and Linux are very different operating systems that are also very similar
in multiple ways. Windows was first sold on November 20, 1985 under the name
Windows 1.0. It was revolutionary for it s time. People had been used to using
command line interface to type out there commands. Windows 1.0 allowed for them
to just point and click on what they wanted. Then, along came Linuxa few years later.
Linux was revolutionary because it was Unix like and it was open source. Open
source meant that anyone could access the source code to tailor it to their liking.
This has allowed multiple different versions of Linux to be produced since then
including one called Lindows. Lindows is exactly what you would expect from the
name. It is a version... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Linux also started with a command line interface like Windows. There are many
similarities between the two. Whether or not someone selects to use it is all based
on preference. A detailed evaluation will often reveal that Windows has more
features, and is easier to sue than Linux. When I took a survey of my peers it
revealed that ninety percent of end users preferred to use Windows over Linux. I
asked these people why they preferred Windows to be given multiple reasons.
Some said that they preferred to use an operating system that was native to them
since they had grown up using Windows. Others said that they liked the features
better, and liked the innovations. When I asked about Lindows they said that it
would just not be the same especially considering that Linux in it s native form can
not run .exe applications which has become a major part of the typical end users
daily application usage. Truth be told however if someone was just going to
browse the internet to check e mail, and perform other miscellaneous tasks there is
no distinction based on operating system. The major problem comes in when a
user needs to use specific applications or software made for Windows. Linux is a
valuable asset if you are looking to host a server but do not want to purchase
Microsoft server which is the Windows equivalency. It is easy to use, maintain, and
valuable to any network that requires a server. When it comes down to it both
operating systems can do the same thing,
The World Bank And The Imf Essay
The World Bank and the IMF are collectively known as the Bretton Woods
institutions. They were formed at a conference in Bretton Woods in New Hampshire
with the aim to addressing concerns to do with stability of world economic markets.
IMF is mainly tasked with offering surveillance, financial aid and technical
assistance. IMF has 187 member states who each appoint a representative to the IMF
s board of Governors. The World Bankhas its voting power controlled by the USA
and it was built with the main aim of reducing povertyin middle income and
creditworthy poorer countries by promoting sustainable development through loans,
guarantees, and non lending which includes analytical and advisory services.
Whether African countries have benefited from IMF/World Bank projects is a
subject of controversy. Rono, J. K. (2002) opines that adjustment programs have
caused de legitimization of state which has led to political violence, riots and
frequent regime changes in some countries in sub Saharan Africa such as DRC,
Zambia and Nigeria. For purposes of this research, I will restrict myself to
discussing what is known as the structural adjustment program popularly (SAPs) in
Kenya. According to Rono, J. K. (2002) Kenya adopted economic reforms mainly
with the aim of achieving macroeconomic and structural adjustment which were
initiated by the World Bank and the IMF in from 1980 onwards. I am persuaded to
agree with an opinion by Rono, J. K. (2002) that the well intended adjustment
Pros And Cons Of Floodplains
A floodplain or flood plain is an area of land adjacent to a stream or river that
stretches from the banks of its channel to the base of the enclosing valley walls and
experiences flooding during periods of high discharge. Or in simple words we can
say an area of low lying ground adjacent to a river, formed mainly of riversediments
and subject to flooding.
Flood plains are made by a meander eroding sideways as they travel downstream.
When a river breaks its banks and floods, it leaves behind layers of alluvium (silt).
These gradually build up to create the floor of the flood plain. Floodplains can
support particularly rich ecosystems, both in quantity and diversity.
Floodplains are where land and water meet. The two environments merge ... Show

This reduces a river s discharge and so makes it less likely to flood. Afforestation
also prevents mass wasting which reduces the amount of soil entering the river and
keeps the river s capacity high. When combined with floodplain zoning,
afforestation can be very effective at reducing the risk of flooding. It creates new
habitats for animals and improving water quality by filtering pollutants out of
rainwater. The issue with afforestation is that it requires quite a lot of space to be
effective and could prove unpopular among famers on the floodplain as they won t be
too happy with trees sapping nutrients from the soil. This issue can be combated
somewhat by creating riparian buffers, thin vegetated strips of land that run adjacent
to a river s channel.
Wetland Restoration involves creating conditions that are favorable for the
development of wetlands (marshes or swamps). Wetlands are able to store large
volumes of water which helps to reduce the discharge in a river. Wetlands don t
reduce flooding where they are located but rather downstream of the river. They have
the added benefit of creating new habitats for animals and greatly increasing
biodiversity. They reduce the area of land available for farming though which makes
them unpopular among
George Herbert Research Paper
Famous words that George Edward Stanhope Molineux Herbert, 5th Earl Carnarvon,

finding the tomb with or without his financial support, shifted Herbert s state of

Cheating In Professional Sports Essay
One thing about sports that everyone agrees on is that they are fun to watch.
Another thing that most agree on is that cheaters get what they deserve. However,
the amount of cheating has increased significantly in professional sports over recent
years, thus making them not so fun to watch by some. Cheating occurs through
secret deals, bad trades, and use of drugs to gain a field advantage, therefore sports
that most people have grown to love have become less entertaining, and more
violent to the public. Changes need to be made to professional sports in order to
restore it s former glory.
There has been a lot of athletic scandals in colleges across the country. These
scandals have been as a result of the coaches and athletic directors failing to take
the full force of the law and giving their players freedom to do everything even if it
is against the law. One of these fatal scandals is the Baylor University Basketball
scandal that occurred in 2003. This scandal involved the players and the coaches of
the team. The incident left one player dead and the other imprisoned for 35 years.
The team was subjected to a lot of punishment by the National Collegiate Athletic
Association (NCAA). The NCAA is a non profit organization comprised of 1281
institutions, organizations, individuals and conferences and that organizes the
athletic programs of most of the colleges and universities in the United States and
Canada (The New York Times, 2003).

Intellect Vs Test Scores Essay
Intellect VS. Test Scores
Growing up, I never really had a problem with tests. I didn t necessarily enjoy
taking them, however I thankfully never got too apprehensive. I looked at them as a
way to determine my intelligence, and would gladly share my scores both good and
bad with my peers. Looking back on my perception of tests, I find that my point of
view was ignorant to the fact that test scores whether they are standardized or not do
not determine a person s intellect. In the state of North Carolina, students take their
first standardized test in third the grade. Commonly known as the End of Grade test
(EOG), its purpose is to ...measure student performance on the goals, objectives, and
grade level competencies specified in the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
In layman s terms, this test is simply to see if the student has met all of the
requirements, and is fit to advance to the next grade level. A variety of standardized
tests are given every year until the student graduates high school. High school
students particularly, tend to be the most apprehensive when it comes to test taking
because it has been taught ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While many students put most of their energy into acing standardized tests, in
reality, grades and the rigor of a student s curriculum are the most important factors
in a college application. That being said, how you perform day to day in and out of
the classroom over the course of your four high school years, is much more important
than how you performed for an early Saturday morning test. The fact that the student
could have been up all night, the night before the SAT trying to get in some last
minute studying, and completely bomb the test the next day because they are sleep
deprived isn t taken into consideration! I m not justifying the fact, however I am
saying that test administrators, and college admission boards should have a more

Hindu Religion And Hindu Churches
Khalil Gibran once said, I love you when you bow in your mosque, kneel in your
temple, pray in your church. For you and I are sons of one religion, and it is the
spirit. This quotation means that people from all races and religion are one in
union, even though we come from different places and pray differently, we come
together as one equal. This quotation relates to a religious site because all churches
and religions are linked to the same thing. A religious site is a place where people
connect to Godand help bring peace in their life. I ve chosen to go to a Mandir. A
Mandir can be defined from Dictionary.com as a Hindu church.

Also after speaking with the owners and priest of this Mandir, I ve realized that
they are humble people who give back to the poor and want to build a better
community. Queens Hindu Mandir is located on 107 01 101 Ave. Richmond hill
NY 11419. This Mandir has been located in queens for about 7 years now. There are
two floors in the church; the first floor is the prayer room where all of the Gods and
Goddesses are located to be worshiped. The second floor is for the people to eat after
service is over. There are many Gods and Goddesses in the Queens Hindu Mandir,
there are over 75 idols that are worshiped on special occasions and on Sunday mass.
I ve spoken to four people who help organize the church during the week. My first
person who I interviewed is the priest of the Mandir, Pandit Ravi Maharaj. Pandit
Ravi Maharaj told me he has been a priest for about 7 years for the Queens Hindu
Mandir, he told me that he loves praying in this temple because it gives him peace,
and praying for others help him feel better as a person. Pandit Ravi Maharaj told me
that he does Sunday services and he also prays with individuals who call him to
prayer for certain reasons. He also prays with large gatherings on special occasions
like Diwali etc. another person who I have spoken with is Devi; she is the decorator
The Importance Of Human Evolution
Through research it has been determined that evolution is a part of nature, and
organisms become more complex over time. As organisms become more complex
their characteristics begin to change, and aspects that are beneficial for their survival
become prominent in their offspring. However, characteristics that are not beneficial
to their survival begins to fade as organism evolve. From this arise Charles Darwin s
theory that evolutionoccurs because of natural selection, expressing that organisms
with the best characters will have a higher survival rates and have the ability to pass
these characteristics to their offsprings. Branching out from the theory of evolution it
is believed that all species have a common ancestor. Depending on how similar and
different species are the further back in time they would share a common ancestor.
By discovering fossil remains, using radioactive dating, and DNA mutation rates
scientist were able to develop a phylogenetic tree. As of right now the phylogenetic
tree is extensive, but it is not complete. Humanevolution is a prime example of a
branch that is still incomplete. By comparing DNA it has been determined that
Chimps and Human DNA are 98.8 percent similar, however we are still different
species (1). The question that still needs to be answered is who is the common
ancestor of Human and Chimps. Recently human ancestry has become clear through
the discovery of Ardipithecusramidus, commonly referred to as Ardi. A group of
scientists
How I Build A Teepee Fire
Data gathered from the National Vital Statistics System says that from 1999 to
2011, a total of 16,911 deaths in the United States for an average of 1,301 deaths per
year that was associated with exposure to excessive natural cold. Many of these
deaths could have been prevented if a fire was built to warm the victim, or a signal
for help. In the following paragraphs I will explain how to build a teepee fireto
whomever is reading this. It will cover all the basic skills and techniques needed to
build a successful tepee fire. I will also give some tips and tricks I ve learned over
the years.
Frist off to build a fire I need to gather my materials. These materials are as follows:
a lighter, rocks, a place to build the fire, some wood of all different sizes, a
pocketknife, and about two handfuls of a tinder. So now you must be wondering
what tinder is? Well it s simple; tinder is a material that you light to start a fire.
Tinder is also considered to be stage one in the fire building process. Which means
it s the first material in the fire to burn, and it needs to light the next level. Materials
that can be used as tinder is newspaper, dryer lint, hay, and cardboard.
You also may be wondering why a pocketknife. Well it s so that if I need to cut
something I have a tool for the job. So after I gather up a lighter, pocketknife, and
about two handfuls of tinder. I need to find a place to build the fire. It should be a
place where there is somewhat level ground, and is at least 15
The Book Of Romans By Apostle Paul
The book of Romans is written by Apostle Paul, and he talks about different aspects
of the Christianity there. He talks about how should human beings view the natural
world, their identity, and relationship with God. Romans chapter one to eight shows
the aspects of those areas: God so loved human beings that He reveals Himself
through natural world that people could know Him; true human identity can be
discovered by seeing God s image within human beings, and to do so, Jesusneed to
justify, sanctify, and glorify them; the relationship between God and human beings
were broken due to a sin, but through God s unconditional love, whoever lives in
Jesus will not be separated from God again.
In the beginning, God created whole world include ... Show more content on

However, they pretend that they do not know Him. Paul says that For although
they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their
thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened (Rom. 1:21). It is so
obvious that God who created everything is seen in the nature, but people in Rome
still sin against Him, and it is very important to notice that they sin even though
they knew God. It is not quite different in today s world. People try to deny God s
existence, and they do not accept to believe Him even they know that He is alive.
Instead of pursuing to know God, they lean toward to what s more attractive to them,
sin. Paul clearly states about this issues that everyone cannot make excuse that they
see God in the nature, which means on the day of judgement, they would not able to
make an excuse that they sinned because they did not know God.
The nature reflecting God s image affects my biblical worldview that I thought God
is the one who is up in heaven sitting at the throne. It seems He is very far away
from me, but actually He was very close to me, and He is everywhere around me. It
makes me very happy and comfortable that He is around near me. Furthermore, I
could realize the grace and love of God that magnificent God wants to reveal Himself
to tiny human beings. No other gods in other religions wants to reveal themselves to
make a relationship with human beings. This is the uniqueness
Examples Of Literary Devices In The Black Cat
Literary Devices Essay
Have you ever wanted to pick apart a piece of writing the way one might pick off
the toppings of a pizza? I see literary devices as the toppings and the dough is the
good writing. Literary devices refer to the typical structures used by writers in their
works to convey his or her message in a simple manner to his or her readers. When
employed properly, the different literary devices help readers to appreciate, interpret
and analyze a literary work. , and by developing a strong understanding of what they
are and how they function, one can increase their enjoyment of the writing.
Connotation refers to a meaning that is implied by a word apart from the thing
which it describes explicitly. One work I have seen it in is The Black Cat . In this
work, connotation has been used negative common seen as bad luck in many
cultures. Throughout The Black Cat connotation appears quite a few times, one that I
found interesting was when he had found a new cat, the cat had white fur around its
neck, Poe states that the fur starts to turn into the form of the gallows which is what
Poe had used to hang the old cat. The cat is a sign of connotation as bad luck.
Imagery is the use of figurative language to represent objects, actions, and ideas in
such a way that it appeals to our physical senses. In The Black Cat , Poe uses words
and phrases to create mental images for the reader, imagery helps the reader to
visualize and see it more realistically. For example,

Job Application Essay. . College essay: Job application essay sample

  • 1. Job Application Essay Crafting a compelling essay on the topic of "Job Application" can be a challenging endeavor. This task requires a delicate balance of self-promotion, humility, and a keen understanding of what the prospective employer is seeking. You are essentially tasked with presenting yourself as the ideal candidate for the position while maintaining authenticity and professionalism. The difficulty lies in articulating your skills, experiences, and achievements in a way that not only showcases your qualifications but also aligns seamlessly with the company's values and requirements. Striking this balance can be a meticulous process, as you must carefully tailor your essay to the specific job description and company culture. Moreover, there's the challenge of avoiding clichГ©s and generic statements that may make your application blend in with countless others. It's crucial to stand out from the crowd, making a lasting impression on the reader. The introspective aspect of the essay can also be demanding. You may find yourself reflecting on your past accomplishments and setbacks, evaluating your professional journey, and identifying key strengths that set you apart. This introspection requires a level of self-awareness that can be both enlightening and challenging. Additionally, the pressure to adhere to word limits and formatting guidelines adds an extra layer of complexity. Every word must contribute to your narrative, conveying your unique value proposition without unnecessary embellishment or verbosity. Ultimately, writing a job application essay is a nuanced task that demands time, effort, and a deep understanding of both oneself and the prospective employer. It's an artful blend of self- expression, persuasion, and adherence to professional norms. If you find yourself struggling with this process, or if you simply want to explore alternative options, professional writing services like HelpWriting.net offer assistance with various types of essays. Whether you need support with job application essays, academic papers, or any other written task, these services provide a platform to connect with experienced writers who can help you effectively convey your thoughts and experiences. • 2. Qualitative Case Study In Organizational Politics Methodology In order to explore individual meanings, definitions, examples and attitudes about organizational politics other authors used a purely qualitative methodology (Buchanan, 1999; Buchanan and Badham, 1999). This research uses a case study as the research strategy that allows researchers to concentrate „on a single phenomenon or entity (the case), from which the researcher uncovers the interaction of significant factors characteristic of the phenomenon. The case study focuses on holistic description and explanation . Merriam (1998:29). Moreover, one review found that case studies to be the most popular qualitative research strategy primarily due to its potential to generate novel and groundbreaking theoretical insights (Piekkari, Welch Paavilainen, 2009).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using the qualitative case study approach can help find answers to the what, how and why questions of the case to achieve a better understanding of the phenomenon studied by providing a descriptive and explanatory account (Yin, 2003). Finally, the analysis of the case should generate an understanding and explanation of why the story unfolded in the way it did. The micro political perspective can help readers understand how managers behaved and managed the change which was based on the goals, interests, experiences, interpretation and views of the participants involved. The authors decided to limit the research to only one real time case study of an organization undergoing organizational restructuring. Yin (2009) argues that the use of single case designs is legitimate in following situations: пѓ when using a critical case to test a well formulated
  • 3. Monteverdi As An Epic Poem Analysis Composing an opera seems like a daunting task, now imagine trying to take an Epic Poem and make it into an opera, it seems almost like an ultimate challenge; a challenge only few would take on. One of the most famous composers who took on this challenge was Claudio Giovanni Antonio Monteverdi famously known only as Monteverdi, was one of the greatest composers of his time and he was able to bring classical Greek Epic Poems to life. Even though Monteverdi was one of the greatest composers of his times it must have been very daunting challenge to take a story that had been only really heard and written down almost from interpretation from the Greeks and turn it into an Italian Opera. Another challenge he may have faced was condensing the long Epic Poem so that the audience could sit through the opera and still get the most important points of the Epic Poem. One of biggest problems Monteverdi must have encountered was when he first began to compose the story of Ulysses there was the challenge that it was in a completely different language. Homer wrote the Odysseyin Greek and Monteverdi was Italian, to add to this the Greek Homer wrote the story in was completely different from the Greek that the native people spoke. Even though the Odyssey was already being translated, no one really knew how to translate Greek; it had been a langue that basically disappeared for some time. This could have mean that some of the story could have literally been lost in translation, or the Italian scholars could have added even some parts of the story accidently due to misinterpretation. Monteverdi being one the greatest composers would have had to study the story of Ulysses and known the story thoroughly no matter what translation he may have read or heard. Knowing the plot of the story he would then have to match musical pieces to each of the characters, and there were many characters in this Epic Poem, who were fundamental to this opera even more difficult to compose. Not only did Monteverdi have to face a language barrier but also, he then had to keep in mind each character Homer wrote about. Homer incorporated many people into the Odyssey, including characters from his past works as well as the gods as they played a
  • 4. 8th Amendment History One of the many things that has been highly controversial and still is to this very day is how to properly punish and treat criminals. Here in America we now have the Eighth Amendment to protect us from cruel and unusual punishment. This was based off of a Parliament Act of 1689 that created England s Bill of Rights. Before England had come up with the idea that humans should have guaranteed basic rights, it wasn t a matter of whether or not a criminal would die, as much as it was a matter of how they would die. Torture devices such as the guillotine, the stake, the brazen bull, and the rack were used to spread the idea of fear and punishment that was ineffectually used by leaders to try and control their people throughout the history of Europe. Ironically, the guillotine was considered to be the more humane of the torture devices. This is why it is so well known and was used very often throughout history. The guillotine was a device used to execute its victim by beheading them. It is made with a tall wooden structure that supports a slanted and sharp blade at the top that was suspended by a rope. Located at... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The brazen bull is an excellent example. Also known as the bronze bull or Sicilian bull, this device was another method of killing with fire. It was made of a solid piece of metal and had a door that was used to place and lock the victim inside. This bull shaped metal deathtrap was then placed over a fire that slowly baked the person inside while they screamed and cried until they no longer could. The bull was purposely designed to amplify these screams and make them sound like the bellowing of a bull. (Pegg, list25.com) The brazen bull, created additional amusement for the audience, and served the added benefit of distancing them from the brutality of the torture, since they couldn t directly see the victim, (Grabianowski, history.howstuffworks.com) unlike how graphic the deaths by burning at the stake
  • 5. The Glass Menagerie Comparison Many would never consider comparing the 1945 American classic play The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee William, and the 2015 short film World of Tomorrow by Don Hertzfeldt; however, both rely heavily on a complex memory motif that tries to conceptualize past hurts in order to face the present woes of life. Furthermore, in both the film and the play, the viewer is called to become aware of the distortions that dreams can bring to the format that the story is being narrated. They are each an example of a case of complex love mixed in with past hurts which then morphs into formula for a frustrating uncertain futurewhere one never truly understand what is to come. Calling for the visualization of the past and presentsimultaneously, each story call... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Flirting with the idea of fragility of life and specifically the future, both have physical representations of these ideas. This is exemplified in two specific places in The Glass Menagerie in reference to Laura. First, the physical representation of the fragility of the future is Laura s glass animals. When Laura crushes the glass unicorn in her hand when she finds out Jim has a serious girlfriend, this represents Laura s future coming crashing down. The reader gets the sense that the young maiden will never find love and that she shall live her future forever alone. Similarly, in The World of Tomorrow, the physical representation of the fragility of the future is human life itself. With the process of cloning, which consists of impregnating Emily with her cloned self, where then her memories are then transferred to the new Emily. Attempting to avoid death through the impregnation process, this all comes crashing down when a meteor comes crashing down onto the earth. In both stories, the attempt to continue on one s legacy into the future is abruptly stopped and quite literally breaks apart. Furthermore, both stories have uniquely incorporated multimedia aspects to further express the themes of the stores. In the script of The Glass Menagerie, stage queues of a screen which depict things such as an image of a high school hero (989). In World of Tomorrow, Emily Third opens a
  • 6. Time Capsules from Renaissance and Baroque Periods For almost two years, we have been in search of what we believed were time capsules, hidden away between the years of 1400, when the Renaissance period started, and 1750 which marks the end of the Baroque period. We are pleased to announce that our nearly twenty four year search has ended in the discovery of two such capsules. Each of these capsules contains information, vital to the understanding of past cultures and their origins, and necessary to the development of culture today. In what we re now referring to as Cap A , we have discovered two very well known pieces of Art. One, now referred to as the world s most famous smile, is the Mona Lisa. Leonardo Da Vincicreated this masterpiece in 1503 using a style known as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also composed and left for us, Missa Prolatium . There was a second capsule discovered which we ll call Capsule B. In this capsule are reminders for us of life during the Baroque Period. John Locke, who was born in 1632 and died at the age of 73, left for us his most famous works. The Essay Concerning Human Understanding tries to answer the questions where ideas come from and are our senses reliable. Another very famous, more reliable philosopher, Baruch Spinoza left behind his works in which he discredited the scriptures because he said they were all influenced by the period in which they were written. He claimed that Jesus preached a religion of reason that valued love higher that all else. He was later excommunicated. It seems, one week after his death, Peter Paul Rubens home was inventoried and there were thousands of works found inside. The Adoration of the Magi, and Sampson and Delilah were found among the collection of work. Renaissance literature that will forever be etched in our minds was discovered in this capsule. One of the greatest influences of our time left evidence of his existence. William Shakespeare deposited two of his most famous works into this capsule. Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet were these two literary masterpieces. Although Shakespeare never published any of his work, he did feel it important to leave these two plays in this capsule. Antonio Vivaldi is the creator of

In 2012, the World Health Organization (WHO), estimated that over 350 million people suffer from depressive symptoms worldwide. Accurate diagnosis of Major Depressive Disorder(MDD) in other countries can be challenging, as individuals are not assessed regularly in primary care clinics. Across many cultures, somatic symptoms tend to be reported more frequently than emotional and behavioral symptoms, with treatment primarily prescribed for the physical symptom, which doesn t address the individuals faulty beliefs, impacting feelings and behaviors. Not only are people suffering from the tremendous symptomology of depression, but increased deaths, due to suicide, frequent this population (Cuijpers Schoevers, 2004, p. 420). With such a large difference between having a high school degree and one from a college, there should be no question that a collegeeducation is worth it, yet some people still make arguments that college is not worth it. Douglas Belkin of the Wall Street Journal argues that getting a college degree keeps people from saving for retirement, and the loans that they need to pay off delay it even more. While saving for retirement may start later when getting a degree, the extra money will eventually make up for the lost time and eventually surpass what someone would have saved without going to college. Despite talking about being able to save much for retirement during college, Procon.org also jumps to the other side of the debate and says that 70% of college graduates had access to employer provided health insurance. (Procon.org) This will help graduates both at a young age for any health problems they have and at an older age when they are more susceptible to diseases. In addition, Procon.org also informs readers that 70% of college graduates 25 years old and older had access to retirement plans. (Procon.org) This means that college graduates will have a good chance of being set for retirement when the time comes, and hopefully, it will be one where they have some extra money to spend. Last but not least, according to Procon.org, a college degree has a return of 15% per year as an investment, larger than the stock market (6.8%) and housing (0.4%). Finally, there were the lightly armed gladiators, they had little to no armor, but had the ability to move more freely when fighting. The armor used during their practices was wooden swords and shields instead of real equipment, for the protection of the gladiators, the soldiers, and trainers who worked there. When it was time for a match the gladiators would use real swords, shields, and sometimes armor to battle (Types of Gladiators). The gladiators also were used to represent strong gods by the way they were dressed and the weapons they used. For instance, there were unusual weapons, such as a trident, used by the god Neptune, and the use of a net to follow the water god theme (Retiarri). • 22. The Evil Of Evil People Evil People By nature, humankind tends to be more evil than good. Even though, some people are born with kinder temperament than others, everyone is conceived and birth in sin (Psalm 58.3). For this, in many traditions, once a woman gives birth, the baby is either baptized or blessed by his community to welcome him into the world, and to remove him from sin. People are naturally self centered, jealous, mean individuals who want to gain, but not work hard. They crave violence, and would instantly cut corners wherever possible to get whatever they want, even if it means to be consciously good from time to time. As misunderstood by many, a person does not have to commit heinous act such as to kill, to enslave or to rape all conscious activities, to be evil. As long as he had thought of evil, was born with sin, and is evil, his nature is evil. Babies scratch, kick, bite and give people misery even before they are exposed to life or could tell that what they are doing is bad and painful, and people tend to show their true self when there is no one around to judge them. As stated in the Bible, the rod and reproof gives wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother (Prov.29:15). If a child is not consciously trained and disciplined by his elders, who learned from their elders, he could pander to his predisposed fondness of envy, hatred and selfishness. And, if he indulges this fondness, it would lead him into wrangling and strife, and all sense of courtesy

In the past I have read comments online, as well as heard things in real life, about how some subjects have no value in being studied unless one is majoring in them. Brace felt that it was a duty to help these children out, and decided that the only way to help these children was to get them away from their surroundings, and send them away to be raised in nice, Christian homes around the country. So, in 1853, Brace founded the Children s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Being homeless was also an exclusion. These are two exclusions that keep the children in, Orphan Trains , from being full citizens. Even though the children are not full citizens, they are not totally severed from mainstream society, so they actually have second class citizenship. The founding of the Children s Aid Society was to help the children live a better life. People believed that, these children had a right to be taken care of and that it was their responsibility, to ensure that these children got put into homes. So, the children had second class citizenship that is, having marginal connections to mainstream institution, rights, and responsibilities. Even though they were just children, they had duties. They were expected to live with a new family and learn the work ethic that was taught to them, as well as behave in the way that children are supposed to in society. They had the right to a certain standard of civilization. Meaning, they deserved to live in good homes, with families that could teach them good moral values and duties needed to become citizens in society, when they grew up. Orphan Train children had a social citizenship. They had the right to live life according to societies standards. They had a minimum of economic welfare and security, with being sent to new homes where they wouldn t be homeless and anymore, and they went to families where they could get an education and healthcare. Commentary On The Song Humble And Kind By Tim Mcgraw Humble and Kind In today s midst of commotion, many of us seem to forget to stop, take a breath, and consider the moments that escape our everyday lives. A result of this includes memories fading due to our hectic schedules. Soon we find ourselves alone with no one to share our success with. Friends become people whom you pass by in the shopping mall, or have stalked their pages on social media and accustom yourself to saying you developed a friendship. Familyevents become a time to connect with others solely through a reunion once a year. These examples are few and far between the habitual factors each of us display day in and day out. I think that he sends a message to an abundance of people in the song. He stresses his concerns to a wide variety of audiences, in that we all forget to take a moment to consider other s feelings and make a difference. A stanza in particular that shows this is: hold the door, say please, say thank you/ don t steal, don t cheat, and don t lie/ I know you got mountains to climb but/ always stay humble and kind. In my opinion, he speaks the truth and lectures that you must hold on to your morals. I have noticed that many people forget or are too careless to think about others. Simply holding a door for someone as they walk out, or saying thank you for a generous act goes a long way. I know I try to make someone s day any chance I can, I just wish others would put this into mind as well. It reminds us of the important life lessons and unwritten rules. The song also stresses that although you may have priorities, don t let those blind you from taking time to focus on others such as your lifelong friends or family. I have been a victim, as well as been guilty of participating in these actions. We all become so wrapped up in ourselves. Sometimes we forget how lucky we are to have been given the friends and family we rely on each

According to the American Chemical Society, polymers are created from repeated pieces that are connected together.1 The pieces are called monomers. The synthesis of polymers is called polymerization. Two types of polymerization reactions are addition reactions and condensation reactions. Addition reactions result in addition polymers.1 One type of addition reaction is the synthesis of polystyrene from the styrene monomer. Styrene is also known as phenylethene.2 Condensations reactions are just like addition reactions except that there is a side product produced that needs to be removed as it is formed.3 This experiment was a condensation polymerization reaction because hydrochloric acid was the condensate for this reaction. The rainforest is predominately in Brazil, but also borders the countries of Peru, Columbia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana. The unique biosphere of the Amazon is a result of millions of years of evolution. The Amazon is a damp and wet climate; with so much rain the soils of the Amazon are thin, yet, they grow the some of the tallest trees on earth. In some parts of the rainforest, sandy soils are found, which have evolved through erosion over millions of years. The soils of the Amazon are the foundation of the rainforest and, although these soils have lost their mineral content and fertility, rich and lush rainforests grow on them (WWF, 2013). The atmosphere of the Amazon allows for organic matter to decompose expeditiously, creating high nutrient and fertile topsoil. However, organisms reabsorb these new nutrients as quickly as they were formed. The Amazon is home to one in every ten animals on Earth, and plays a vital role in regulating the global climate. What Is The Character Of Paraclete In The Pilgrim s Progress Throughout Christian s journey in The Pilgrim s Progress, he encounters many dilemmas which often throw him off the path to the Celestial city. However, whenever someone is with him or aids him, he prevails and acquires more and more wisdom. If he has a constant guide or companion in his journey, it will be less probable for Christian to stumble or get lost. John Bunyanshould incorporate the character Paraclete into his book, The Pilgrim s Progress, because he will provide help in times of trouble, he will encourage Christian to overcome obstacles, and he will grant Christian someone to talk to and travel with. One thing Christian would benefit from on his journey is someone to help him when he is lost or does not know what to do. Oftentimes Christian struggles facing foes during his journey to the Celestial City and they slow him down. If Paraclete is there with him in these troubled times, Christian will waste less time. When Christian faces Apollyon, Paraclete is there to help fight him off and defend Christian when he is struggling. This is one of Paraclete s roles in The Pilgrims Progress: to aid Christian in his battles of any kind. He also will help Christian escape from the Giant Despair s castle. In a small community such as this noveldepicts, religionis the driving force behind nearly every decision made in the story and can be justified solely on the individual s values. Even though Grant, an atheist, would not be helping him do so through religion, he will give him understanding of the importance of his case to the community. Religion has many faces in the novel as one would expect, but one face that rings true is the notion that through religion one can gain dignity. As you can imagine, living in the South in times such as these was certainly a detriment to African Americans such as the characters in the novel, but why is it then that African Americans put, more often than not, so much clout to the community and its church? For simple reasons of course, because inside the church is where one can gain back the dignity that is lost nearly everyday through racism. Church is the only place where anyone can be a leader. Church is the place to express yourself freely and come together to share a ceremony where racism is not present. Most importantly church is the place to recognize and evaluate the lives of so many people that are continually being marginalized. This can be seen as another strong factor on how religion is central to the community. For example, people that become leaders inside the church are looked at with more respect, such as Miss Emma, Tante Lou, and Reverend Ambrose; three very active

Some said that they preferred to use an operating system that was native to them since they had grown up using Windows. Others said that they liked the features better, and liked the innovations. When I asked about Lindows they said that it would just not be the same especially considering that Linux in it s native form can not run .exe applications which has become a major part of the typical end users daily application usage. Pros And Cons Of Floodplains A floodplain or flood plain is an area of land adjacent to a stream or river that stretches from the banks of its channel to the base of the enclosing valley walls and experiences flooding during periods of high discharge. Or in simple words we can say an area of low lying ground adjacent to a river, formed mainly of riversediments and subject to flooding. Flood plains are made by a meander eroding sideways as they travel downstream. When a river breaks its banks and floods, it leaves behind layers of alluvium (silt). These gradually build up to create the floor of the flood plain. Floodplains can support particularly rich ecosystems, both in quantity and diversity. Floodplains are where land and water meet. The two environments merge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This reduces a river s discharge and so makes it less likely to flood. Afforestation also prevents mass wasting which reduces the amount of soil entering the river and keeps the river s capacity high. When combined with floodplain zoning, afforestation can be very effective at reducing the risk of flooding. It creates new habitats for animals and improving water quality by filtering pollutants out of rainwater. The issue with afforestation is that it requires quite a lot of space to be effective and could prove unpopular among famers on the floodplain as they won t be too happy with trees sapping nutrients from the soil. This issue can be combated somewhat by creating riparian buffers, thin vegetated strips of land that run adjacent to a river s channel. Wetland Restoration involves creating conditions that are favorable for the development of wetlands (marshes or swamps). Wetlands are able to store large volumes of water which helps to reduce the discharge in a river. Wetlands don t reduce flooding where they are located but rather downstream of the river. They have the added benefit of creating new habitats for animals and greatly increasing biodiversity. They reduce the area of land available for farming though which makes them unpopular among

As organisms become more complex their characteristics begin to change, and aspects that are beneficial for their survival become prominent in their offspring. However, characteristics that are not beneficial to their survival begins to fade as organism evolve. From this arise Charles Darwin s theory that evolutionoccurs because of natural selection, expressing that organisms with the best characters will have a higher survival rates and have the ability to pass these characteristics to their offsprings. Branching out from the theory of evolution it is believed that all species have a common ancestor. Depending on how similar and different species are the further back in time they would share a common ancestor. By discovering fossil remains, using radioactive dating, and DNA mutation rates scientist were able to develop a phylogenetic tree. As of right now the phylogenetic tree is extensive, but it is not complete. Humanevolution is a prime example of a branch that is still incomplete.
