Differences Between Fanon And De Tocqueville
Despite the fact that one cannot force a national identity, the drive to mold and create one runs
deep in both Fanon s and de Tocqueville s writings. At this point, the differences in background
and the purposes of writing between our two authors becomes apparent. De Tocqueville s project
with Algeria aims to investigate the best way to colonize with the least detriment to the French.
Given that the colonists had already deposed the old government to install their own at the time of
his writings, de Tocqueville identifies a few sources of danger for the French in Algeria and
proposes a path forward. At the time, the French had plans to unseat a remnant government in
Constantine in the east of Algiers and ally with Abd el Kader in the west of... Show more content on

Both believe that the identity has to flow from the bottom up (that is to say that it must be based on
the desires and cultures of the people), realize that a shared identity is paramount to the security of
a nation, and even share the opinion that violence creates new and strengthens old identities. Even
moreover, both recognize that one state with two strong national identities cannot be beneficial for
all people: de Tocqueville in his analysis of Abd el Kader, and Fanon explicitly writing that the two
confront each other, but not in the service of a higher unity... there is no reconciliation possible,
one of them is superfluous (Fanon 4). The two only theoretically diverge on the ease of establishing
a unified culture. Furthermore, they practically diverge on the end goals of of national identity and
the resulting class structure. It clearly follows, then, that the primary difference between Fanon and
de Tocqueville s take on national identity stems purely from their respective positions in life, the
anti colonialist against the

How The Mac Is A Medium Access Control Protocol
Introduction : This paper discusses about the S MAC , which is a Medium Access Control
Protocol used in wireless sensor networks . The protocol proposed in the paper is mainly inspired
by PAMAS . The important goals of this protocol is to conserve energy and configure by itself or
known as scalability . It is entirely different from traditional mac protocols like ieee 802.11. The
protocol uses three primary techniques to support energy conserving and self configuration . they
periodically sleep to minimize energy consumption , then formation of virtual clusters by neighbor
nodes for auto synchronization on sleep times and radios are also set to sleep during transmissions
of other node . Then S mac uses message passing and in channel... Show more content on

2)periodic listen and sleep : in this the listen time is reduced by letting go the node into periodic
sleep .
a)basis scheme : in this node goes to sleep for a specified time and then wakes up to listen if any
node wants to communicate with it . A timer is set during sleep and the radio of the node is also
turned off . A periodic synchronization is between neighbor nodes for their correct clock timings
. Two techniques are used to synchronization one is timestamps exchanged are relative other than
being absolute. Another technique is listen is period is longer than clock error or drift . To
reduce control overhead neighbor nodes should be preferred to synchronize together . to be noted
that all neighboring nodes cant synchronize together . then all nodes broadcast their schedule to
all its immediate neighbors this for ensuring that all neighbor can talk with different schedule
times . If multiple nodes want to talk to a node , this can be done by contention mechanism using
request to send and clear to send packets . here first come first serve basis , node which send first
will grab the medium . here the formation of nodes are done in flat topology .
b)choosing and maintaining schedules : each node maintains its own schedule table where its
neighbor nodes schedule are stored. First node listens for a particular time , if it is not hearing
from another node it randomnly goes to sleep with broadcasting a SYNC message .

Fyodor Dostoevsky Motifs
Fyodor Dostoevsky is a Russian author who writes novels that revolve around psychology. He
demonstrates his ability to communicate with the reader by applying his in depth knowledge and
analyzing human behavior of people. By expanding his knowledge into different works he provides
a mean for the public to understand psychology at works of literature. For example, in Crime and
Punishment. Dostoevsky, uses motifs to help illuminate the action of characters. Dostoevsky uses
the motif of money in an evolutionary to create ambiguity and complexity through his character
Raskolnikov. Money is introduced as a burden and it can create complexity. In the novelit is
exemplified through Raskolnikov because when money is introduced the author illuminates the...

The Stark Law Essays
The Stark Law
Some federal statutes address fraud in government health care programs, and many of these laws
vary considerably (Krause 2004). Some of these laws specifically target health care fraud. Example
of the laws that the government direct at inappropriate health care activities includes the Medicare
and Medicaid Anti Kickback Statute and Ethics in Patient Referrals Act (EPRA).
In 1989, Congress enacted the Ethics in Patient Referrals Act. Commonly known as Stark law,
Congress named it in honor of Rep. Pete Stark, a Democrat from California, and original sponsor
of the bill (Sprague 2004). This law places limitations on self referrals by physicians and prohibits
physicians from referring patients to organizations in which ... Show more content on

Considering the provisions of the Stark law, it is clear that Congress enacted the law to curb the
self referrals that were prevalent among medical practitioners due to the sprawling specialty
hospitals and health facilities (Choudhry, Choudhry, and Brennan 2005). Furthermore, Congress
saw the need to prevent a physician s referral decision that is dependent on a selfish, financial gain.
The idea was to preclude overutilization of certain health care facilities that may arise from
objectionable referrals and the resultant increase in health care cost (Staman 2010).
Congress created the Stark law, which is compiled as Section 1877 of the Social Security Act, as
part of the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1989, Public Law 101 239, 103 Stat. 2423
(1989); the Stark law is codified at 42 U.S.C. В§ 1395nn. In 1993, Congress passed the Omnibus
Budget Reconciliation Act that significantly amended the Stark law, and the amendment is
commonly known as Stark II (Staman 2010). In essence, Stark I and Stark II were not created as
stand alone laws but as provisions in the Omnibus Budget Reconciliations of 1989 and 1993. The
Stark law defines a financial relationship at 42 U.S.C. В§ 1395nn to include either (1) an ownership
or investment interest in the entity or (2) a compensation arrangement between

Changing Fan Experiences
New technology is changing fans experiences at venues and stadiums all around the nation like
never before. Both the team s marketing department and venues are working together and using
different types of digital innovations to enhance and improve the on field player performance, fan

During the transition between the top and bottom of the innings the video board would either
display pre recorded videos of plays during previous seasons or would capture current live feed
from the stands. Any time the camera was used to capture the crowd a promotion would be
happening on the screen, switching the content back and fourth. This time would require fans to
get up and get loud to receive a prize. Music was always associated while the video board was
being used and it was interesting on the genre of music they decided to play over the speakers.
Baseball is filled with music being played as a hitter walks to the plate or a closer comes out of

Heartland by U2, Born in the USA by Bruce Springsteen. The music chose is vital to the
audience, it can stir memories of past games and produce an intense feeling of pride for the
current game no matter how bad your team is playing, you will at least sing along, stomp your foot

Bartocelli Art Analysis
The characters above are all of mythological ideas, some possessing some biblical traits such as
Venus with the halo created by the reflection of the orange grove.
The red lines drawn on the image show the commonly used technique of perspective leading to the
vanishing point which is the centre of the image. This is where Venus stands, which is a technical
element conveying her importance within the painting.
The impeccable attention and detail on Flora s face indicates that he was of the High Renaissance
movement.
Bartocelli used Egg tempera to create this painting. He has connected the colours of the paint with
the message behind each part and being of the image. With the use of egg tempera, he had to work
fast aw well as with this technique there must be an under colour and the darker colour over it. The
under colour will therefore shine through, giving a stronger and clear final product.
Symbols in the artwork include: o Fruit This including the orange which is the fruit of free will.
There are no oranges only after the incident of Zephyr and Chloris, showing after trials will there
only be fertilisation and produce o Colour The use or oranges and Red indicates the long for
materialism, indulgence, carnal desire and a desire for worldly goods.

In September 2013, a male Saudi cleric, Sheikh Saleh Al Loheidan, claimed that women who
drive will have reproductive issues and their babies will be born with clinical problems (Jamjoom,
2013). This is believed to be in response to a movement protesting the laws against women driving.
The fact that women are banned from driving themselves where they need to go hinders the ability
to get to medical appointments without a chaperone, or walking. On October 26, 2013, a
demonstration was planned for women activists to post video of themselves driving to protest the
ban. Women are serving jail time for violating these laws (Jamjoom, 2013).
As is custom, women must be accompanied by a male chaperone from her family, such as, her
husband, father, brother, or son. This is for the women s protection. Where this becomes
problematic in the healthcare setting is during the patient interview and exam. In 1993, a physician
from Canada, Stephen N. Sullivan, MD, FRCPC, went to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to practice
medicine and many of the difficulties he faced are still relevant today. Dr. Sullivan was unable to
obtain a health history from the female patient. The history was usually given by one or more
family members who were present as her guardian. Dr. Sullivan was unable to perform a full
assessment on his female patients due to the veils covering their faces. The doctor made a
diagnosis of thyrotoxicosis from reviewing a patient s chart prior to an endoscopy. The

Argumentative Essay On English Class
What I am about to do is inform you on how to survive the ferocious English 1302 course to
make life a bit easier on you. I mean, you re at the edge of your seat dying with loads of work,
starving like a dying child, living off of pennies and the only thing that is keeping you from
collapsing is your Starbucks drink that is filled with four shots of espresso, right? Well, by the time
you get to the end of this letter, you ll thank me later for it.
When you enter your English class, you will come across many assignments. They happen to be
your annotated bibliography and your researched argument essay, or in other words RAE. The
purpose of the bibliography is to critique sources and gather enough data for you essay. It includes
citations, a summary of your topic and personal thoughts of the sources you chose. The RAE is a
persuasive essay where you attempt to create an argument that is supported with the information
you gathered in your annotated bibliography. In my RAE, I argued that children can recuperate

I learned that by annotating a certain part of the reading, it helped increase my understanding. Not
only that but it helped me not miss a single bit of important information. Writing notes in the
margins of the text was really helpful because it was a summary of the entire paragraph and
whenever I would look back at my notes, it reminded me of what I read. Also, circling words I
didn t know was very accommodating because again, it helped me understand the concept a bit
more. Underlining words that seem important to you is a big tip I suggest because you are able to
use that information when you are talking about your source. You can expand that information by
linking it to another similar source. Therefore, it is important to annotate. It ll take up extra time
but it will be worth

Trichotillomania Onset Pregnancy
Introduction:
Trichotillomania is characterized by recurrent episodes of hair pulling behavior leading to
noticeable loss of hair, increasing tension before hair pulling or while coping with the urge to pull
out hair, taking pleasure or a sense of relief while pulling out hair, and social, occupational, and
functional impairment1.
Trichotillomania can involve any area in the body; however, the most common areas are the scalp,
followed by the eyebrows and eyelashes in children and in adults2. The seriousness of the pulling
behavior is perceived over time, and the disease exhibits a chronic course and it is resistant to
therapy3. It has been reported that patients with trichotillomania often did not feel pain while
pulling out hair, followed a particular pattern of hair pulling, and often chose strands with unusual
appearance, and exhibit repetitive behavior such as engaging oral stimulation after hair pulling4 5.
Some studies have suggested that trichotillomania had many common features with obsessive
compulsive disorder4 5.Here we discuss a patient with trichotillomania onset pregnanacy case.
Case :
KD is a 19 years old female, married, secondary school graduate who is currently unemployed. The
patient was admitted to the juvenile outpatient clinic accompanied by her parents with the
complaints of anxiety and pulling out eyebrow that lasted for 2 weeks. It was realized that the
patient did not have similar past complaints, or she has not been admitted to the psychiatry

What Is The Use Of Reform In A Modest Proposal
In A Modest Proposal, Swift vents his mounting exacerbation at the incompetence of Ireland s
government officials, the pietism of the affluent, the oppression of the English, and the lack of
sanitization and debasement in which he sees such a variety of Irish individuals living. While A
Modest Proposal moans about the dreary circumstance of an Irelandabsolutely subject to England s

How Did William Harvey Change During The Renaissance
During the Renaissance, there were many scientific advances including innovations such as the
printing press and barometer, and advances in medicine, which greatly benefited Europe s
knowledge during this time. Advances in medicine included the discovery of ideas by William
Harvey who developed the understanding of the heart and Andres Vesalius who wrote the Fabric of
the Human Body .
Medicine in the Renaissance was greatly improved through anatomical observation and dissections.
William Harvey developed his idea of the human heart through these methods. Before the
Renaissance occurred, autopsies were not allowed because of the Catholic Church not wanting
anyone to find any new information to prove them wrong. During the Renaissance people started
to subvert the rules of the church and started doing autopsies. Harvey studied at the University of
Padua where Galileo was a tutor. Harvey was highly influenced by the Galilean way of thinking
that enthused the university as a whole. His primary tutor, Fabrizio d Acquapendente was the first

The True Nature Of Cheerleading Essay
As human beings, it is natural to judge people who are different than ourselves. Most often these
judgements are based off of common beliefs, or stereotypes. Stereotypes apply to every group,
from the slow moving elderly to lively cheerleaders. Usually these beliefs do not describe every
person in a group, but they all receive the same labels. Cheerleaders make up one group that is
commonly stereotyped, but many people don t know the true nature of cheerleading.
Countless stereotypes that I have about cheerleaders have been ingrained into my mind by the
media, and from personal experience. From what I had observed in high school, cheerleaders are
the popular girls with plenty of friends. Not being associated with a cheerleader meant that you
weren t on the map. Promiscuity was also an extremely prominent stereotype in high school, which
had always shocked me since the cheerleaders seemed like a nasty group of girls. Cheerleaders
also have a reputation of being air headed or simply not intelligent. As an outsider, they did not
give me the impression of being book smart, especially at my high school. Another stereotype that
I have is that cheerleaders aren t entirely athletic. Yes, cheerleading is a sport. Yes, it can be
dangerous and it does take work. However, cheering doesn t look like it requires the same level of
effort and intensity as multiple other sports. These are all widespread beliefs about cheerleaders
that I have come to expect from them.

The Genocide In Armenia
There are more than one ways that the holocaust is very similar to the Genocide in Armenia. Like
Hitler, The Turkish government had devised and set into motion a plan to exterminate more than

lot to do with religion and in almost a super similar situation to the holocaust, it all started to go
bad when a group called the young Turks decided they wanted all the power and wanted any
religion but theirs out of turkey. By April of 1915 hundreds were arrested and thousands were taken

In the years following, the Bosnian Serb forces started prosecuting the Bosniak and Croatian

Affirmative Action In College Admissions
A Look into the Use of Affirmative Action in College Admissions
A journey the majority of high school students experience is researching potential colleges. It was
during this search that I was introduced to the concept of affirmative action, and I became
interested in how it could affect my acceptance to college. On one hand, I was ecstatic because
being a minority could give me an advantage when applying to universities. However, I also
wanted to receive the acceptance based on my merit not my skin color. Affirmation action,
particularly in college admissions, has been experiencing major criticism regarding its fairness and
effectiveness. My stance on this subject is somewhat in support of both sides. I believe that

But what happens when a poor white student with premier grades gets compared to a poor black
student with average grades? The answer is reverse discrimination because the black student would

impoverished minority students compete with more affluent white students, but in the process it
allows a white student to be denied admission to college in order to accommodate a less qualified
minority student. The solution to the unequal access to higher education in America, which is

The Importance Of Christianity In The Christian Worldview
One s worldview is the structure from which we view reality and make sense of life. We have all
contemplated some common questions. What is our purpose? How was the earth created? Is there
eternity? Why is there evil and suffering? The Christian worldview is consistent when responding
to these questions because of their beliefs and faith in God.
God
In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). God created all living
beings and He created man to live in His image. His creation was made in six days and on the
seventh day He rested. Before the world began, the Word was there, The Word was with God, and
the Word was with God. He was there with God in the beginning. Everything was made through
him, and nothing was made without him (John1:1 3). God is best described as the Holy Trinity: God
the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ who is fully God and fully man), and God the Holy Spirit.
Three persons, same substance, one God: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. As stated in
Lecture 2, all three persons were involved in the creation (Lecture 2). According to Christians, God
is the sovereign creator of the heavens and of the earth and is their ultimate reality. God s
characteristics are being loving, kind, compassionate, and forgiving. Other attributes are that he is
eternal, infinite, omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient, immutable and incomprehensible (Lecture
2). On the sixth day of creation, God created man. The Pinnacle of Creation

Purge Persuasive Speech
Despite the horrible ideas of what a purge is, the world should have one. There have been two
movies made about purges, so it must be a good idea to have one for ourselves. The benefits of
having a purge are, it is a stress reliever, controls the population count, and for a few hours you
could be the most powerful person. Purging is a great concept that everyone should be open to.
Have you ever wanted to get rid of all of your stress? Well having a purge would help you do
exactly that. The thrill of killing someone makes you forget everything entirely and just focus on
the person you are killing. Maybe there are certain people who make you stressed, kill them and
your stress is gone forever. Now the purge is only for a few hours so if you have multiple people
who cause you to have stress, move very quickly. (appeal to authority) The earth has entirely too
many humans inhabiting it. Purging would help resolve this issue. There are 7 billion on this
planet and roughly 320 million in the United States, so if we as a country had a purge and
everyone killed at least one human then the population would decrease drastically. The world is

A Comparison Of The Movie Don Giovanni
The play Don Giovanni directed by Peter Sellers shares many parallels to Moliere s comedy Don
Juan. Additionally, Don Juan is an aristocratic rebel against God, religion, and morality. Don Juan
is a masterful manipulator of men and women. Although Don Juan is a comedy, it is grounded in
realistic dramatic also relational scenarios that happen today. However, in the play Don Giovanni,
the character is darker and more sinister. Moreover, the setting is far from the aristocracy. The
cityscape began as in inner city dark and murky project. There is graffiti, signs of death, and
stillness all around. Don Giovanni is packed full of immorality as the story unfolds. Don
Giovanni s his heart is hardened beyond humanity thus implicates his soul belongs to Satan.
Moreover, Don Giovanni similar to Don Juan s character is unfaithful to the one he declares his
love as he has a thirst for lust and conquest for women. In play Don Giovanni s assistant who
grudgingly witlessness Don Giovanni s evil actions. His assistant accounts the number of women
he has betrayed. Furthermore, Don Giovanni s assistant shares he stalks any woman no matter the
origin. Also, Don Giovanni s assistant says Don Giovanni has had 640 Italians, 231 Germans, 100
French, 91 Turks, and 1003 Spanish girls. Interestingly in the play, I wondered if the intent of the
director to expose Giovanni s assistant as the alter ego of himself.

Albert Einstein And Mahatma Gandhi
The twentieth century was a time of new perspectives and challenging authority. Many individuals
began experimenting and innovating in an attempt to change the status quo. Two famous
individuals of the time period were the physicist Albert Einstein and the activist Mahatma Gandhi.
At first glance, the highly logical scientist Albert Einsteinand the spiritual, political activist
Mahatma Gandhi do not appear to have a great deal in common, but a deeper study of their
personal lives and accomplishments reveal the two are far more similar than they are different.
Einstein and Gandhi were both creative individuals who revolutionized their respective
domains, display the influence of childhood and the child like mind, and could charm the
masses despite difficulties in maintaining close relationships. Einstein was a master and
innovator of physics and Gandhi was likewise for the moral and political domains. Reading
copious amounts of books and absorbing knowledge were characteristic of both early on in their
lives. Einstein s favored authors of James C Maxwell and Aaron Bernstein would center his
fascination in the world of physics. Gandhi was well versed in all the works of the major
religions and gained influence from writers such as Leo Tolstoy and Henry Thoreau. Their
innovations were not wholly original, as many aspects of relativity can be found in the works of
Lorentz and PoincarГ© and many parts of satyagrahacan be found in the teachings of Christ and

Product Of The Copycat Phenomenon
Copycat Phenomenon The copycat phenomenon is something that has been a major issue for
quite some time. Dictionary.com defines copycat as, a person or thing that copies, imitates,
mimics, or follows the lead of another, as a child who says or does exactly the same as another
child. As it pertains to the phenomenon, anytime a certain crime is committed, the more that it is
advertised, the more likely it will continue to happen and at a higher rate than before. In this paper,
we will talk about the different events that have happened and that have been said to have been a
product of the copycat phenomenon. Different types of the copycat phenomenon include: celebrity
suicides, terrorism, and all sorts of crimes. The first way that the copycat takes storm is in terms of
suicides by celebrities. This phenomenon is one that people have been discussion for some time.
This is when a certain celebrity commits suicides; the number of suicides for some time is
increased due to this person committing suicide. After [a] celebrity suicide, the number of suicide
related articles reported surged around 80 times in the week after the suicide compared with the
week prior (Hwang, J.S. Lee, W.Y. Lee, Stack, 2014). The reason that celebrity suicides yield such
a high rise in others committing suicide is because that celebrity is much more known than other
people. People feel as if they know that particular person more than they really do because they see
their faces/ hear their voices so

Difference Between Financial Accounting And Cost Accounting
(iv)Financial Accounting versus Cost Accounting
To understand the concept of cost accounting to the core, it is important to recognise initially as to
what makes cost accounting different from financial accounting.
The major differences between financial accounting and cost accounting are as follows:
Basis of DistinctionFinancial AccountingCost Accounting
ObjectiveThe objective of financial accounting is to provide information about the overall financial
position and performance of the business organisation. The objective of cost accounting is to
ascertain cost of any particular product or service or activity. Cost accounting aims at cost
controlling and provides information in decision making process.

Outsiders usually do not have any access to cost records.
Type of information recordedFinancial accounts record only monetary information.Cost accounts
record both financial and non financial information.
Analysis of profitIn financial accounting, profit is disclosed for the whole business. In cost
accounting, profitability is shown for every process, product or operation for revealing the areas of
profitability.
Table 1.1.1: fFinancial aAccounting versus Ccost Accounting
Despite the above differences, both financial and cost accounting work in agreement and provide
the desired data to the organisations. Determination of value of stock and cost of goods sold is
done in cost accounting. This value of stock and cost of goods sold is used for determining the
gross profit, which is a part of financial accounts. In addition, a financial accountant receives a lot of
data from a cost accountant for the preparation of financial reports. Thus, despite of the differences,
both cost accounting and financial accounting facilitate each other in meeting the overall goal of
the organisation.

Essay on Uranus
The bland aquamarine face of Uranus bears witness to the fact that Uranus is enshrouded in clouds.
The planet appears to be blue green because the atmosphere absorbs the, red wavelengths of the
visible spectrum, . The uniformity of the planet s appearance confirms that the planet s atmosphere
is composed almost solely of one element, methane gas. There is a preponderance of haze,
composed of ethane and other hydrocarbon ices high in the stratosphere, and clouds of methane ice
low in the troposphere. The cloud particles constantly recycle themselves, first creating then

The Giant planets do not have the same kind of structure inside that the terrestrial planets do. Their

Uranus s interior composition is primarily that of methane ice.
Motions in the interior of Uranus contribute to the formation of the magnetosphere of Uranus. Heat
generated within Uranus contributes to the unusual motions of the atmosphere.
The magnetosphere of Uranus is medium sized, but still much larger than the Earth s. It extends
well beyond the orbits of Uranus moons. It is probably generated in the icy interior layers, rather
than with a metallic component at the core.
The magnetosphere of Uranus has a very strange orientation, tilted by almost 60 degrees from the
vertical. The extreme tilt, combined with the extreme tilt of the rotation axis of Uranus, provides
for a completely unique magnetosphere, one which has a twisting structure!
Mathematical theory suggests that the rings of Uranus affect the both the motion of particles in the

has this story been around so long? Why is King Arthurs story still popular today?
According to earlybritishkingdoms.com, King Arthur was a legendary British ruler who ruled
during the late 5th and early 6th century. When King Arthur s father died, no one knew he had a

betrayal, and interesting characters with interesting backstories. It featured Merlin and his magical
powers, Guinevere and her beauty, and more. It featured a number of different knights that ended
up betraying each other like the brothers Balan and Balyn, who killed each other in war.
Something else that made his story so popular was the Round Table. King Arthur was the first
ruler to ever use that table. The Round Table was symbolic in Britain s history. In signified that

Lenin s Legacy Of The Soviet Revolution
Lenin s Legacy
History will not forgive Revolutionaries for procrastinating when they could be victorious today,
while they risk losing much tomorrow, in fact, they risk losing everything (Vladimir Lenin. Call to
Power). Lenin was a persistent Russian ruler who wished to instill his communist views in Russian
society at all costs. He was influential in motivating his followers to rise up and overthrow Russia s
weak government which lead to the reformation of Russia s weak economy. Although Lenin faced
opposing forces from the West, he was able to institute a number of reforms which boosted Russia
s broken economy and led to the transformation of Russia from a war struck country into an
economically stable power, prior to his death.
Prior to Lenin coming into power, Russia s corrupt government was stuck in a state of war with
Germany along with other Western European powers which ultimately led to the revolts of angry
Russians due to famine and political issues. The Russo Japanese war began the first Russian
revolution in 1905 when Russia suffered a tragic loss on the battlefield (Vladimir Lenin. World
History). The Russian loss to Japan forced the government to give up on its expansionist policy
resulting in the government losing its followers. This was the most devastating defeat Russia has
ever faced to a non European force and proved Czar Nicholas unfit to rule the nation. To restore
order within the society, Czar Nicholas instituted the October Manifesto, which

Anne Marie Slaughter And Sheryl Sandberg Analysis
Since before time, men have been seen as dominant and in charge whereas women were behind the

not obtain the same treatment as men. Some people still have an old mentality and believe that
women should only be cooking, cleaning and taking care of their children, instead of having good

Men are supposed to be rough while women are looked at to be sensitive. In the past boys got all
the education while the girls had to take care of house duties. Boys were expected to study the
Torah while girls were expected to run a proper home (Anne Maria Slaughter). With this quote it
illustrates how boys were put on these high expectations, while girls were looked at to be nothing
better than a house wife. Both men and women should be able to have the same education and
shouldn t be based of their gender. Women should be just as educated as men. Second, I would
like to talk about the gender roles that play while both men and women are working for the same
job or trying to get a job with the same field. When it comes to hiring people mostly go for men
because they assume that men will get the job done better than a women would. Most leadership
positions are held by men, so women don t expect to achieve them and that becomes one of the
reasons they don t (Anna Marie Slaughter). With that being said it makes the competition for a job
more challenging for women. They have to not only reach all the qualifications that is needed for
the job but to go above and try to beat what the men is going to

Economic Freedom and Wealth Economic freedom is the ability for an individual to prosper
with minimal intervention from government. In an economically free society, individuals are

Many countries with policies similar to China also have high rates of bribery and corrupt

simpler process and just requires the right capital expenditures. Economic freedom is highly
correlated with societies openness to entrepreneurial activity that creates new jobs and increases
opportunity and choice for individuals in advancing their own well being (Miller, 2011). Trade
Freedom Trade freedom is a highly important factor in determining economic freedom and
wealth. No one single country has the resources required to sustain the current standards of
living in developed or developing nations. Trade requires specialization according to a country s
comparative advantage. Specialization allows the most efficient and effective use of a country s
scarce resources, whether that be natural resources or labor resources. The Index shows the
economic benefits of specialization and trade. Trade freedom reflects an economy s openness to
the import of goods and services from around the world and the citizen s ability to interact freely
as buyer or seller in the international marketplace (Miller and Kim, 2011). Tariffs, export taxes,
trade quotas, trade bans, and other trade restrictions all hinder the free flow of foreign and

1960s it has been common for directors to average only one feature every year and a half , two

have made two or even three major features a year. There were serious implications for the way in
which directors learned their craft. (pg9 Hillier J , 1992, The New Hollywood). Independent film
production increased the importance of agents in the system. After contracts were dropped,
staff went to agents who brought them together with a script and a director and a package to

seems unlikely for him to be able to shoot himself once with that gun, proceed to reload the gun
and shoot himself once more. He would ve been dead after one shot and would not be able to
shoot himself again with that kind of gun. The evidence from Priscilla Grinder, it was pretty off

Captain Ahab s Sermon
Do human beings have free will or free choice and if not who or what shapes human destiny?
(McSweeney 9) Herman Melville utilizes Father Mapple s sermon in his nineteenth century epic
novel Moby Dick, to illustrate the duality of mankind. Mortal man pursues his own singular
interests with selfish intent; however, God has prevailing intentions, which are often beyond the
comprehension of the individual. Melville expands and elaborates this theme throughout his epic
work. The sermon is an omen for the dynamic action of the novel, which is revealed in Captain

born in La Crosse County, Wisconsin in 1906. The second son of George Philip and Augusta

teachers remembered him as having strange mannerisms, such as random laughter. He tried to
make friends but his mother would punish him whenever he tried. Lacking Social development,
he did fairly well in school, particularly reading class. Later in 1940 his father died from a heart
failure caused by his alcoholism on April 1, at age 66. Ed and his brother Henry began doing
odd around town to help pay living expenses. The brothers were reliable and honest by the
community. Henry later began dating a divorced, single mother of two and he planned on moving
in with them. Henry spoke very little about her around Edward who responded with shock and

  • 2. Differences Between Fanon And De Tocqueville Despite the fact that one cannot force a national identity, the drive to mold and create one runs deep in both Fanon s and de Tocqueville s writings. At this point, the differences in background and the purposes of writing between our two authors becomes apparent. De Tocqueville s project with Algeria aims to investigate the best way to colonize with the least detriment to the French. Given that the colonists had already deposed the old government to install their own at the time of his writings, de Tocqueville identifies a few sources of danger for the French in Algeria and proposes a path forward. At the time, the French had plans to unseat a remnant government in Constantine in the east of Algiers and ally with Abd el Kader in the west of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both believe that the identity has to flow from the bottom up (that is to say that it must be based on the desires and cultures of the people), realize that a shared identity is paramount to the security of a nation, and even share the opinion that violence creates new and strengthens old identities. Even moreover, both recognize that one state with two strong national identities cannot be beneficial for all people: de Tocqueville in his analysis of Abd el Kader, and Fanon explicitly writing that the two confront each other, but not in the service of a higher unity... there is no reconciliation possible, one of them is superfluous (Fanon 4). The two only theoretically diverge on the ease of establishing a unified culture. Furthermore, they practically diverge on the end goals of of national identity and the resulting class structure. It clearly follows, then, that the primary difference between Fanon and de Tocqueville s take on national identity stems purely from their respective positions in life, the anti colonialist against the ... The protocol proposed in the paper is mainly inspired by PAMAS . The important goals of this protocol is to conserve energy and configure by itself or known as scalability . It is entirely different from traditional mac protocols like ieee 802.11. The protocol uses three primary techniques to support energy conserving and self configuration . they periodically sleep to minimize energy consumption , then formation of virtual clusters by neighbor nodes for auto synchronization on sleep times and radios are also set to sleep during transmissions of other node . Some of these laws specifically target health care fraud. Example of the laws that the government direct at inappropriate health care activities includes the Medicare and Medicaid Anti Kickback Statute and Ethics in Patient Referrals Act (EPRA). In 1989, Congress enacted the Ethics in Patient Referrals Act. Commonly known as Stark law, Congress named it in honor of Rep. Considering the provisions of the Stark law, it is clear that Congress enacted the law to curb the self referrals that were prevalent among medical practitioners due to the sprawling specialty hospitals and health facilities (Choudhry, Choudhry, and Brennan 2005). Furthermore, Congress saw the need to prevent a physician s referral decision that is dependent on a selfish, financial gain. The idea was to preclude overutilization of certain health care facilities that may arise from objectionable referrals and the resultant increase in health care cost (Staman 2010). Congress created the Stark law, which is compiled as Section 1877 of the Social Security Act, as part of the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1989, Public Law 101 239, 103 Stat. 2423 (1989); the Stark law is codified at 42 U.S.C. В§ 1395nn. In 1993, Congress passed the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act that significantly amended the Stark law, and the amendment is commonly known as Stark II (Staman 2010). In essence, Stark I and Stark II were not created as stand alone laws but as provisions in the Omnibus Budget Reconciliations of 1989 and 1993. What is our purpose? How was the earth created? Is there eternity? Why is there evil and suffering? The Christian worldview is consistent when responding to these questions because of their beliefs and faith in God. God In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). God created all living beings and He created man to live in His image. His creation was made in six days and on the seventh day He rested. Before the world began, the Word was there, The Word was with God, and the Word was with God. He was there with God in the beginning. Everything was made through him, and nothing was made without him (John1:1 3). God is best described as the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ who is fully God and fully man), and God the Holy Spirit. Three persons, same substance, one God: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. As stated in Lecture 2, all three persons were involved in the creation (Lecture 2).
