in poverty stricken areas of the country. This paper seeks to highlight the host of elements that have
a positive bearing on the academic outcome of children belonging to the poverty stricken counties
in the state of Ohio. The research will employ a qualitative method design and involve using semi
structured interviews, observations and archival data to explore the teaching methodologies and
administrative measures that play a role in improving the effectiveness of schools in areas affected
by poverty.

interrupt and end homelessness may vary across groups, ending homelessness permanently requires
housing combined with the types of services supported by programs operated by the U.S.

Columbia, CT was the one who founded Dartmouth. He initially established the school to train

Indian Charity School and was officially established in 1755. It was somewhat successful, but they
still needed more funding in order to maintain the schools operations. Wheelock and Occom

made a trust to help the school. The Charity School finally had enough financial support to keep
going. But Wheelock had trouble recruiting Native Americans to attend the institution due to the

In this paper we present a variant of the Small Open Economy Dynamic Stochastic General
Equilibrium Model (SOE DSGE) and empirically validate it using quarterly data for Sri Lanka
(1999Q1 2013Q4). The SOE DSGE model incorporates low exchange rate pass through dynamics
and thereby departs in a significant manner from the canonical closed economy New Keynesian
DSGE model which has become the work horse of monetary policydesign by modern central banks.
The empirical validation of the SOE DSGE model in the paper using Bayesian estimation
techniques provides insights that would enable the Central Bank of Sri Lanka to advance its reform
agenda to transition from the current monetary targeting framework to a flexible inflationtargeting
framework in the medium term.
The model presented herein can be extended evaluate the welfare implications of alternative
monetary policy regimes and make out of sample inflation forecasts to get a handle on the type of
policy adjustments that should be undertaken to design a monetary policy stance to achieve a
predetermined stabilization target.

And Must Take Our Jobs. Kelly discusses the future of machines doing our work for us. Kelly
believes that all jobs currently occupied by humans will eventually be taken over by machines, and
humans will benefit from the results. While Kelly presents engaging arguments, his examples and
writing style are ineffective in fully demonstrating his view of automation in the workplace. One

taken over by machines, whether they like it or not. Even though the article is meant to be
educational, its nature is almost taunting. Kelly s article, white thought provoking, makes
sweeping generalizations and talks down on the reader, both of which weaken his argument.
While reading, I wondered if the career path I want to go into, automotive design, could be
automated. The thing with automotive design is that it s such a delicate blend of art and hard
science. A computer could already design a car to be perfectly aerodynamic and generate the
perfect amount of downforce, but cars are still designed by humans, because people can insert
graceful (cosmetic) design motifs and aggressive body lines that a computer wouldn t bother with.
