Socrates Unjust Man
Throughout The Republic, Plato tries to paint a picture of a just man and an unjust man. Socrates is
constantly challenged at both ends of the topic. Answering to the challenges Socrates describes an
unjust man as happy on paper, and a just man happy and content in their soul. An unjust man in
Socrates view is a rich man. An unjust man is only happy on paper but is that real happiness. An
unjust man always wants more than he can obtain, and tries to gain it, when he cannot he is
disappointed. An unjust man will be mean with their own money... but they ll love to spend other
people s because of their appetites. Platodivides the soulinto two sections reason, spirit/indignation
and appetites/desires. The unjust person lets his indignation and desires rule and keeps reason
on the sideline. Once one of those takes place of reason, the man is in a state of chaos and starts
behaving unjustly. The more the appetite grows the more unhappy he becomes, being subjected
to his desires. Socrates goes on to explain an unjust man by comparing different societies and
shows how they all start from a just society. However, they become corrupted. This is explained
while Socrates describes the transformation from a Timocracy government to an Oligarchy.
Socrates explains how if a person were to proceed further into money making, the more they value
it, and the more they would be enslaved by it. Furthermore, Plato saves the worst society for last,
Tyranny. Some people may consider them to be

Most Common Internet Server Operating Systems
POS/355
Internet Servers (also commonly known as Web Servers), primarily function to deliver web
pages on request to clients. When a user types a domain name into their browser, or clicks on a
link, the request is first sent to a Domain Name Server (DNS). DNSs are servers that hold
databases full of domain names and IP addresses. When a DNS receives a request, it matches the
domain name (ie, www.CriketX.com) to the IP address of the server that holds all of the files that
make up that particular website and sends that information back to the user s browser. The
browser can then send a request for those files to the IP address of the web server (205.134.224.227

VB development tools as well as Access and MS SQL cannot be run on Linux servers, which is
why Windows servers are a big hit with Microsoft technology fans. When it comes to system
security, Windows web servers are more prone to attacks by hackers, but this also has more to
do with administration than with the fact that it s running Windows (webdevelopersnotes.com).
Also, Linux servers perform better under heavy traffic so, in the case of shared IP hosting
where multiple sites are running on the same IP address, Linux is the better choice over
Windows. Linux also offers more ways to connect. Windows offers FTP access and it s possible
to configure telnet (if your hosting provider allows it) but Linux offers FTP, telnet, and ssh
access. Linux servers are also more likely to offer CGI and Perl access, although some Windows
servers do make it available. Both types of web servers offer server side scripting tools. When it
comes down to choosing what operating system to use on a web server, or perhaps which
hosting company to sign up with, these are all things that you need to take into consideration. In
many cases, it s best to use Linux unless you have a specific reason not to. Many content
management systems such as WordPress or Joomla use PHP and SQL which traditionally runs
faster, and more reliably, on Linux systems, but can be run on Windows web servers as well. Of
course, if your site has been built using Windows specific languages and databases, such as

Nt1330 Unit 1 Algorithm Paper
The complexity and memory requirements of the algorithm are in the order of
$D_mathcal{D}.{rm N}$, denoted as $O(D_mathcal{D}{rm N})$. The algorithm become more
effective when the minimum difference $Delta Y_k$ is large between the transmission probability
gains $Y_k$. Consequently, our algorithm finds an optimal solution coupled with linear
complexity, when the network become more heterogeneous due to small ${rm N}$. Our
algorithm also finds the optimal solution with an increased complexity, when the network
becomes more homogeneous or less heterogeneous due to increasing ${rm N}$. The
quantization precision ${rm N}$ in Algorithm 1, is a physical quantity specified by the
underlying network that elaborate the designing of quantization step. The total content size $H$
depends on the required content transmission rate $r_{c_i, d_i}$ and $Y_k$, whereas $Y_k
sigma$ are defined by the contact dynamics of the nodes in a network. However, if the network
is difficult by the required level of transmission ratio, the values of $Y_k$ and the value of $Delta
Y_k$, such that $rm N$ is too large, then the designer may have to comprise by reducing the
desired level of transmission ratio to reduce $rm N$. In results, the sub optimal... Show more

The transmission rate and contact rates between D2D pairs are often quasi statistic information. In
cellular network, all the nodes of the network can be known by their contact rates and transmission

communication, where the base station is not taking part of the data transmission, the D2D pair can
transmit the contact rates and transmission rate by opportunistic contacts. Therefore, the

provisions of the Income TaxAssessment Act. As in this case the correct advice need to be

the Commonwealth of Australia, for the purpose of tax assessment. All transactions that have
taken place during this relevant year need to be considered and recorded in accordance with the
ITAA97 . In regard to the business conducted by AUSGeo the question that arises is that the
nature of income received is of statutory or capital as it has been noticed that the contract
between AUSGeo and U Trains was terminated and in result of that AUSGeo received a
compensation. Usually a compensation received in relation to regular business affairs is
considered to be of income in nature as in the case of HEAVY MINERALS (1966) and ALLIED
MINERALS (1989) where in the termination of the contracts did not affect the company in
regard to its business and hence this income is assessable under s6 5 or 15 30 ITAA97. But if the

Marwaris Essay
We are Marwaris, a conservative community of businessmen, originally from the Indian desert state
of Rajasthan. Historically, we have been migrating for better prospects since the early sixteenth
century. Consequently, we spread extensively over India; later even to Nepal and Bangladesh. A
characteristic that sets us apart from other migrating people is that we integrate with our host ethnic
groups; adopt local culture. The Kolkata Marwari speaks Bengali and enjoys his Mishti Doi,

amalgamate with the local cultures, we maintain our social Marwari identities. Therefore, we

Hurricane Carter
There was a man born with the name Rubin Carter. He then was given the name Rubin
Hurricane Carter. He received this nickname for many reasons, they all apply to him as a person.
For example, the lyrics in the song Hurricane written and sung by Bob Dylan, he writes, He
could a been the champion of the world. What Dylan is referring to his Carter s boxing career.
After leaving prison the first time Carter became a world renowned boxer. He was a great boxer
and this is where the nickname Hurricanestarted. He was fierce and when he fought, he fought like a
hurricane strong, powerful, and fast. Additionally, in the movie The Hurricanethe character Rubin
says, after being imprisoned a second time, In the end, the prison will vanish and there will be no

And after him, there is no more. This quotation uses two important pieces of figurative language.
First the line, In the end, the prison will vanish and there will be no more Rubin, no more Carter.
The writer used hyperbole to draw to the fact that people will forget him and he will forget his
former self. Another example is, Only the Hurricane. And after him, there is no more. This is an
allusion, it is alluding to the fact that after he stays in prison for long enough, no one will
remember him only his legacy as the Hurricane. once people forget, he is nothing and the
hurricane will pass like the natural disaster. The quotation overall applies to Carter s nickname
in many ways. For instance, it can connect in a literal sense like the passing of a hurricane after
to hits a place. It can also apply in a figurative way when speaking of his legacy and how it will be
forgotten after time passes. This use of figurative language throughout the movie helps enhance
Carter s character. Lastly, there is a shift in the meaning of the name throughout his life. When he
was a boxer the nickname was created to explain his style of brutal fighting like how hurricanes can

Microsoft vs. Foss
Microsoft s Foss Patent Infringement

ITT Technical IT 302
Abstract This paper takes an in depth look at the claims from Microsoft that FOSS (Free and Open
Source Software) committed patent infringement in 2006. It also discusses how the events have
impacted FOSS, whether negatively or positively and how the actions have changed both since
2006.
Microsoft s Foss Patent Infringement
Free software is wonderful and corporate America seems to love it. It s often high quality stuff
that can be downloaded free off the Internet and then copied at will. It s versatile it can be
customized to perform almost any large scale computing task and best of all its crash resistant.

In addition, the software makers struck a deal on patents designed to give customers peace of
mind about using Novell s open source products. This partnership made Novell the only
company in the industry that was able to provide the customer not only with the code to run
Linux, but also with a patent covenant from Microsoft. (Evers, Joris 2006) Some thought that it
showed that Microsoft was kind of being forced to see Linux as a significant competitor and the
FOSS model as a viable business model. (Upfold, Peter 2006) My personal opinion is that this
was an attack on the open source community. Microsoft hasn t actually changed its tune; it s still
actively attacking free software and trying to abolish GNU/Linux while promoting Windows
and other proprietary software as though they are complementary to free software, which they
are not. It s PR nonsense and Microsoft is good at PR. Since then, Novell was sold in 2010 to
Attachmate Corp. and a concurrent sale of certain intellectual property assets was sold to CPTN
Holdings LLC, a consortium of technology companies organized by Microsoft Corporation. It
plays right into the hands of Microsoft s PR campaign, which strives for a fusion where
Microsoft controls both sides of the competition and then derails the side which is less favorable
to Microsoft. Microsoft has done that over and over again for many years and victims include
giants like IBM and Apple.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DSM IV TR and DSM V
Introduction
DSM IV TR was published in the year 2000, it was a text revision of previous version DSM IV.
Majority of the specific areas under diagnosis remain unchanged. Some extra information were
added on diagnosis. The DSM IV TR was organised into five part axial system. The first axis
contains clinical disorders, second axis contains intellectual disabilities and personality disorders.
The remaining axis covered social, environmental factors etc. Through out the history of the DSM ,
it s authors have debated a number of complex issues, including the theoretical basis of the

For the children Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder has been modified somewhat,
especially to emphasize that this disorder can continue into adulthood. The one change is that
you can be diagnosed with ADHD even when you are an adult .This also weakens the criteria
marginally for adults, but due to this the criteria is also strengthened at the same time. In the
DSM IV TR if you were grieving the loss of a loved one, we can t diagnose the person with major

reasons: The first is to remove the implication that separation typically lasts only 2 months when
both physicians and counsellors suggest that the duration is more commonly 1 2 years. Second,
separation is recognized as a severe psychosocial stressor that can precipitate a major Third, such

The Core Values Of Hindu Religion
I was curious to know if the Hindu people, who have drastically different beliefs from one
another, are able to come together at a designated location and worship as one congregation. The
core values the Hindu people share allow practitioners of all varying beliefs to accept their religious
differences and come together as one congregation to worship. An example of this is illustrated
through the failures of the worship communities and the success of pluralism over time.
To begin, it s important to know that almost nothing is entirely agreed upon in within the Hindu
community ( Hinduism 1). The few things all Hindus can agree on are the defining factors of the
religion; meaning, if you don t subscribe to these beliefs, you don t technically identify as Hindu.
The principles all Hindus can agree upon are: the Vedas are a very important scripture, karma is
real, reincarnation is real, and all perspectives are welcome and ultimately better the religion
(Darity, Jr. 477; Hinduism 4). Of the few core values that all Hindus share, tolerance is among the
most important. You cannot discredit one s religious preference or beliefs and still be considered
Hindu. Almost every other principle and belief is ambiguous and not wholly agreed upon. This
means that even people with conflicting beliefs are accepted as Hindus as long as they believe in
karma, reincarnation and the Vedas, and their differences strengthen the religion.
Pluralism is a defining trademark of Hinduism. Pluralism

Cosi Fan Tutte Analysis
Cosi fan tutte Review Have you ever stared at stage full of people never knowing what they are
saying? Have you ever heard words that sound like gibberish making it extremely painful for
you to understand? Have you ever tried to decipher a cryptic language that keeps you from
unfurling the truth? The play, Cosi fan tutte, by W.A. Mozart and Lorenza De Ponte, fails to
impress the audience by making its dialogue frighteningly difficult to understand. This musical
drama, at its best, is ineffective which can be shown by its recurring dreary themes and its
shockingly limited relatability. Perhaps it only redeemable quality is it genuine and dedicated
cast, who try to add humor and excitement to this otherwise monotonous opus. Music lies at the
heart of every opera. If the songs of the opera fail to impress the audience, it can spell disaster for
the performance. The compositions of Cosi fan tutte prove to be dour and repetitious, ultimately
setting a bleak and distressing atmosphere. For instance songs such as Sento oddio, che questo
piede and Di Scrivermi ogni giorno address the same topic of Ferrando and Guglielmo leaving
their fiancГ©s Fiordiligi and Dorabella and going off to war. In both of these songs, the men try
to appease their clearly distressed fiancГ©s and in both of these songs the fiancГ©s give and
overly dramatic performance of heartbreak. The themes of heartbreak, affliction and separation
coupled with the repetitive nature of the songs, serve to create a

which became quickly famous. Such as Heroes for Sale, and They won t Forget. Paramount was

Complementary and Alternative Pain Reduction Methods in Healthcare
Pain is the most commonly reported reason for coming to the hospital in America. It s causes have
a massive variance, and in many chronic cases the root source of pain can not be articulated at all.
When a patient reports pain, the role of the nurse, and the whole healthcare staff, is to aim to reduce
that pain. In many cases pain reduction can be attained through nonpharmacologic, complementary
and alternative methods (CAM). Using CAM to reduce pain is an ideal scenario for both the patient
and the healthcare staff as these alternative methods have fewer negative consequential effects.
The following analysis will observe various methods of CAM pain reduction, highlighting two
major CAM therapies of interest: music therapy, animal therapy. In addition, the following analysis
will discuss how different demographics react to such therapies, with gender, age, ethnicity, and
education level playing a role in relation to a patient s willingness to be open to CAM. Lastly this
analysis will discuss the drawbacks of CAM therapies in the medical community today, emphasising
a lack of discussion between provider and patient, and the general lack of clinical education
surrounding CAM therapies within the medical community.

What Is Station Eleven Symbolism In The Novel
Station Eleven is Emily St. John Mandel s fourth novel which is audacious and dark glittering
as it is set in the eerie days of the collapse of civilization. The story begins with the death of a
famous actor, Arthur Leander after a fatal heart attack onstage while performing the role of King
Lear. One actor Jeevan tries to pump the 51 year old Arthur s chest, but he is dead. Before the
people can absorb this shock tragedy strikes in vast scale as flu infects the world s population
killing most of the people within weeks. Jeevan is walking home during the night when the flu
begins to spread, and he and his brother barricade themselves inside an apartment as they watch
cars clogging on the highways, life disintegrating round themselves and gunshots ringing out. The
novel tells a story of a Hollywood star who would be the savior. A roving cluster of actors roams in
the great lakesregion, and they risk their lives and everything else to save humanity and for the art.
The novel maintains a firm unyielding allegiance to the methods of highbrow literary fiction and is
loaded with sci fi elements. The novel is character driven, and it never relies on the jargons and
gimmicks and from the plot the novel is filled with futuristic fiction. Extravagant circumstances in
the Station Eleven novels lead to emotional righteousness making them feel plausible. This is
achieved through the narration of accounts before the plague and the future tripping tales. The

Unrealistic Expectations In Willy Loman s Death Of A Salesman
One could learn a lot from Willy Loman. He looks like he has all his ducks in a row, a nice wife
who loves him unconditionally, and two handsome sons. He has a fancy car, new appliances,
and a nice house. To a stranger looking in Willy s life looks like one to be envious of, however,
all is not what it seems. Willy is consumed with superficial belongings. Instead of being happy
with what he has, he is more upset about what he doesn t have. Willy Loman s thought processes
are skewed and he has unrealistic expectations, not only for himself, but his sons as well. Willy s
two sons, Happy and Biff, were raised to think that having good looks and being well liked meant
to be successful. Instead of instilling in his sons that hard work pays off,

Analysis of Millard MeissВґ Painting in Florence and Siena...
This book my Millard Meiss is addressing an area of study that is lacking. This text while
informative is difficult to follow and the puts a lot of pressure on the reader to connect the dots.
The content of the early renaissance can often be a difficult time in art history to nail down and
discuss just because it is on the cusp of the late medieval and the renaissance itself. As any time of
transition it can be difficult to understand what is happening in the world of art but may have been
more convincing if he had placed this Tuscan period within the context of Europe as a whole at the
time .This text by Millard Meiss helps the audience contextualize what was was happening in Italy
after the black deathand in doing so we understand the art world that much better. That being said
the way in which Miess goes about making the argument that the art of this time is regressive, is
problematic. In response to the question posed by this assignment how effective in my view is
Millard Meiss s argumentation? I am coming from the stand point that his argument is not effective.
His argument is problematic because it is unclear, difficult to follow, lacks cohesion, and puts too
much work on the reader. These elemental issues with his writing and argumentation are what in
my view render the argument Millard Meiss is trying to make ineffective throughout his text
Painting in Florence and Siena after the Black Death . Furthermore, one of the major issues with the
argument that Meiss is

Essay on A Child Soldier s Life
Carolina Quinones
Mr. Paradis
English 10
11 June 2013
A Child Soldier s Life The life of a child soldier is not an easy one; it s full of violence and
bloodshed. Children from most ages get recruited and are forced to do things that they are against,
things that are against their beliefs. But although child soldiers suffer through many mental
disorders, they can still be respectable adults. They go through many things, the recruiting itself,
then the violence, after comes the horrifying rehabilitation and last they are finally reintegrated into
society. In A Long Way Gone, Ishmael suffered from these things, himself explaining that at some
point in his life, he just went numb to everything (Beah 121).

This program takes away their guns and anything that remind them of the war, like the drugs, after
they put the child in a rehabilitation center and try to give them a new cycle, like going to school
and such and last they reintegrate them into society, both socially, economically and emotionally (
Recent Developments in International Rehabilitation of Child Soldiers ). Different methods are
taken to help these children rehabilitate, but none the less, they are rehabilitated, and helped, taken
away from the war and returned to their childhoods.
After the children are rehabilitated, they are reintegrated into society with the hope that they will
continue their lives violence free. Actual studies have been made to evaluate the process of the
children after they are rehabilitated and thrown back into society. In the study, children who had
killed someone increased levels in hostility, others who survived rape also had high levels of
anxiety and hostility but they had shown greater confidence and prosocial attitudes. At the end of
the study, the improved community acceptance lowered levels of depression and improved
confidence and prosocial attitudes despite the violent past. (Betancourt, Sierra Leone s Former
Child Soldiers: A Follow up Study of Psychological Adjustment and Community Reintegration ).
The study showed that despite their violent

Danger Of Symbolic Events Essay
The Dangers of Symbolic Events or Holidays in the United States
Any gathering of people can be a potential target for someone or some group. This is nothing new
however. It has as happened for centuries and will continue to happen. The definition of terrorism is
to use violence and threats to intimidate or to coerce others, particularly for political purposes.
Staying home huddled in fear is not an option. If you are forced to change, because of a threat then
you have been coerced, and you now have lost a certain amount of freedom, but then again survival
is the objective.
The so called lone wolf attack is the hardest one to guard against, because a person can have
intentions that are not disclosed to anyone, and if they are, it is usually to sympathizers that only
encourage the behavior and not deter it. In some cases, there is no trail to pick up, so ... Show more

Becoming drunk in public makes you a target for literally anyone, because you may think you can
deter someone but you cannot.
Soft targets are typically those not guarded well or at all, and so they make easy targets. Attackers
do not want to be fired upon. They do not want anything to slow or to stop their carnage, so they
will choose targets that they suspect or know will not be guarded well, such as malls, outdoor
markets, parades, parties, and any gathering in a public place.
If you have to leave in a hurry do you know which way to go and if the first avenue is blocked do
you have an alternative route mapped in your head. This is the world we all live in today, and we
all have to pay attention to what is happening in our immediate area, and around the world so we
can do threat assessments.

There so much said and written about foreign aid that it has become difficult to justify its
effectiveness. But if we look at the overall picture in the eye of citizens of a developing country, an
honest assessment might conclude that progress has been made. Though, profound social
disparities and extreme poverty are still lurking in some parts of this fragile planet.
Foreign aid is the transfer of capital, goods, or services from one country to another. And aid can be
given in numerous forms from humanitarian emergency assistance, to food aid, military assistance,
and so on. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This approach was designed to undermine the communist government that was corrupt and biased
that favored urban population over rural sections. Their pattern of distribution reflected political ties
and proximity rather than absolute humanitarian need. By avoiding official structures and working
with commanders at the local level, NGOs inevitably accentuated national regional tensions and
legitimized military strongmen. In this manner, foreign aid with the ultimate goal of peace building
with efforts tied to impartialness has turned a page of conflict.
Positive.
Wars, conflicts, and struggles are sites of innovation, leading to the creation of new forms of
legitimacy and protection. (M Duffield, Global Governance and the New Wars: the Merging of
Development and Security, London: Zed Books, 2001.) They are essential for the advancement of
peoples that are affected by it. They are essential in the transformation of infrastructures, institutions
and social structures. And those affected societies will appreciate the availability of such foreign
aids to allow them to rebuild and restructure the remains of their struggles.
Consequently, a second generation strategy materialized as NGOs moved from humanitarian to
rehabilitation and developmental approach with the focus in rural areas. NGOs sought to disengage
from the privileged relationships built with particular commanders during the jihad years. They
experimented with local institutional development approaches through

We Wear The Mask Literary Devices
Since the major part of the poem s recitation process has reached its finish line, I am relaxed,
satisfied, and able to reflect on it adequately. I regard to the whole process as a fascinating, valuable
and challenging adventure.
Approximately two months ago, I began looking for a poem, which was a serious work since I
pursued a powerful verse that was appropriate to my present state. Moreover, the poem s selection
procedure involved studying historical and cultural aspects, for the reason that I was grown under a
different circumstance and shared another background. I acknowledge the challenge of reading
poetry in a foreign language due to an effort to realize the main message of the poem immediately
and recognize the literary devices directly. Conversely, reading poetry in a native language seems
natural and habituated inasmuch the sounds, music, vocabulary, phraseology, images and events
are accustomed and familiar. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the fruits of my labor because the poem was
chosen and the more I read it, the more I became aware, inquisitive and fascinated by it.

the thought of their suffering and pain since in the movies that I watched or on photographs that I

What Is Slumdog Millionaire Essay
The world around us is a teacher for intelligents and an enemy for fools. Probably, it is one of the

Swarup s novel opens in a police cell in Mumbai, where Ram Mohammad Thomas, a poor orphan
from the slums of Mumbai is being illegally held and tortured on suspicion of fraud for answering

Comparing A Protest Against The Sun And A Perfect Day For...
The reality and illusion of the beach A perfect day for Bananafish by J.D. Salinger and A Protest
Against the Sun by Steven Millhauser are two different stories that are held in a similar place,
the beach. In both stories we have the main characters, Seymour, a retired soldier that felt he
didn t belong to the new society, and Elizabeth, a girl that was trying to be closer to her family.
They found the beach as the perfect place to find the reality of what was happening and
dismissed the illusions of their lives. In the first part of A perfect day for Bananafish we have
Muriel, Seymour s wife. Seymour was a retired soldier that had psychological issues. She was
talking with her mother, who looks to be very concern because of Seymour, but Muriel didn t
care, she just wanted to be in the beach with his husband even he is not mentally good. The same
happened to Elizabeth, she went to the beach to leave for a while the responsibilities and by the
time she was there she realized that the beach was an opportunity to assert her family feelings....

The Importance Of Government Intervention In Healthcare
Healthcare is a widely debated topic that affects millions of people in this country, whether one is
for universal healthcare or against it. Millions of people across this country have had to deal with
healthcare one way or another. Having the government intervene in such matters makes things
complicated from Cost to HIPPA and Interventions. The purpose of this paper is to discuss why
governmentintervention should be limited in terms of healthcare.
The first major reason why government intervention poses a problem for most people is the cost.
Most people do not have the means to deal with healthcare without some type of intervention
from the government but the type of intervening they need may cost them more than they were
ready to take on. As costs increase, we hear or read almost daily that some 39 to 40 million
people are without insurance for medical care. (Grosse). This is due to the rising in cost that the
government has put on its citizens. While the government tries it s best to ensure that everyone is
well covered there are still certain situations that cause people to have to pay tremendous amounts
of money out of pocket for medication and supplies necessary for them. A recent government
report stated that for Medicare alone, more than $2 billion dollars is lost every month due to waste,
mismanagement, and fraud. (Grosse). This causes family across the country to have to make up for
this loss by paying for it themselves, and due to the mismanagement of our

Racism In The Kite Runner
Racism and discrimination were incredibly prominent in Afghanistan at the time of the writing
/publishing of The Kite Runner and is still prominent today, not only in some parts of Afghanistan
but also around the world. No matter how much the modern world molds their views to become
more and more open and tolerant, people still discriminate against others due to their looks and
beliefs. Hosseini portrays these conditions of racism and discrimination in The Kite Runner through
interactions between Amir and his servant friend Hassan, and also through interactions between
Hassan and others, who is often the victim of racist actions and dialogue. The socioeconomic
conditions in Afghanistanduring this time show the inequality between the majority (Sunni
Muslims/Pashtuns in this case) and the minority (Shi a Muslims/Hazaras) and how people
discriminate against each other based on how they look and what their religious beliefs are.
Amir, at the beginning of the book, has a decent life. He is the young son of a wealthy man and
has a great friend in a boy named Hassan. He is a Sunni Muslim and a Pashtun, both being the
majority in Afghanistan where he lived. Hassan, though, was not so lucky. He was born from a
Hazara mother and father, the minority during this time. His father, Ali, was a servant to Amir s

Myths of Empire: Summary and Critical Analysis
In Myths of Empire: Domestic Politics and International Ambition, author Jack Snyder seeks to
explain why overexpansion has been so common among the great powers. Sometimes, Snyder
argues, states over expand so aggressively that their actions risk the survival of the states
themselves, as was the case of Germany and Japan in the World War II era. Snyder explains that the
central myth of empire, which he considers defensive realism, is that states think that their security
can only be safeguarded through further expansion. Snyder explains that this myth of empire is the
counterproductive aggressive foreign policy that was the major force that propelled ... Show more

For example, he considers the expansion of Britain and Russia to be similar, although the
aftermath of both countries was very different, as was the influence that they possessed in the
countries they expanded to. In other words, the influence that Britain maintained in its post
colonialism era is significantly greater than the Soviet Union s after that state lost control of its
satellite countries. But to Snyder, these experiences are still considered to be similar. Additionally,
Snyder uses only one non Western case study to make his point. If Snyder were to come out with
a new edition of Myths of Empire, the book would greatly benefit from additional, non Western
case studies (considering Japan is really the only non Western case study the book analyzes) such
as China and its emerging global influence or North Korea.
Snyder also takes on too literal a definition of expansion, and does not take into account the others
ways in which states can expand. Expanding does not necessarily need to mean only territorially.
States (and its power) can expand its influence globally through technological advances and
economy, for example, and not just their military or through territorial gains. In this vein, including
an updated analysis on China s emerging global influence both

Emergency volunteers often have no similar protection. Some states provide benefits for registered
emergency volunteers, but those benefits are often limited. The lack of reliable benefits may be a
barrier for potential emergency volunteers. It may also discourage employers from assigning their
employees to work as emergency volunteers, because the employer s workers compensation
insurance could be responsible if the employee is injured. Injured emergency volunteers who do not
receive workers compensation benefits can file a civil liability lawsuit against the organization for
which they were working, with a more unpredictable and potentially more costly outcome.
These requirements affect a wide variety of professions, but of particular relevance in the

Timber Shortages In The 1770s
This essay deals with the three shortages of masts and timber in the 1770s, 1803, and 1808, and
considers how the navy dealt with these shortages. In the War of American Independence and the
Napoleonic Wars, the Royal Navy often faced the risk of the shortages of these goods. In the second
half of the eighteenth century, Britain gained the maritime supremacy in the Atlantic and the Indian
Ocean, and constructed many ships both for the navy and for the merchants. However, as Britain
could not produce the sufficient quantity of naval stores in her own country, Britain depended on
the import of naval stores from several areas. Masts from Norway, Russia, and New England, pitch

Astoundingly, they are the most valuable team in baseball. To help put this in viewpoint, three
graphs are shaped in this article to expose the massive amount of information that is available to
discover in each of the teams values. Each graph displays many demographics that are classified in
different sets such as total team value, team rankings in groups such as team revenue, gate receipts,
concessions, sponsorship, media rights, parking, and attendance, and the two thousand and thirteen
season results. The teams displayed are the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox
, and the St.
Louis Cardinals. I for one believe that the In House designers put these three teams because two
out of three of them are the first and second most valuable teams in the game, and the third one
are the World Series champions. Likewise, they could have put the Cardinals in there to put in
perspective how much money is collected in a given year compared to each team s value, which
are significantly different. In fact, In House design judge Ed Roberts said This polar diagram is

Case Study On Strategic Management
Introduction
Strategy is a set of large scale and future oriented plans that a firm takes to gain and sustain their
competitive advantage, such as financial and human capital. In this course, I learn to use different
analysis to formulate and implement plans designed to achieve an objective. In the first lecture, I
realized that strategic management may not only be applied in corporation, strategic management
toolkit can also be used in our career to pursue our goals, so I think strategic management is an
interesting science.
In this course, I learn to think like a general manager to view a firm and a whole industry in its
entirety. Furthermore, through the case study during the tutorials, I know how to apply appropriate
analysis in generating and evaluating strategy options for different kinds of corporation.
The Course issues
The key factors of success in an industry may be used to identify a corporation s internal strengths
and weaknesses, so I think internal analysis is one of the major issues in this course. In internal
analysis, there are four major method. They are traditional SWOT analysis, value chain analysis,
resource based view and product life cycle. And all of these method use the core competencies in a
firm to analysis whether a firm creating higher value than the others. ... Show more content on

The internal factors represent whether a company has more or less advantage and capabilities
relative to competitors. The external factors means if the firm s environment is favorable or
unfavorable to it. After identifying the situation of a firm, we could apply an appropriate strategy in
the firm. For example, Tung Wah College has less capabilities such as classroom and course
offering but it has favorable environmental opportunities, the board of directors could adopt the

The Duality Of Bhamman And Brahman In Shankara s Dualism
In his philosophical attempts, Shankara tried to demonstrate that the reality is one and Brahman is
the most noteworthy supernatural reality and opposes duality. As indicated by Raju (1983),
Shankara acknowledges the truth of Brahman on the premise of the Upanishads. In any case, in his
contentions with the schools that don t acknowledge the Vedic power (for example Buddhism), he
built up another premise.
The Brahman is depicted in various courses by the Upanishads, and the portrayals come down at
last into three constitutive attributes: Being (satta), Consciousness (cit), and Bliss (ananda). The
initial two are significant to epistemology and metaphysics, and the third to aesthetics and the life
of salvation. Shankara would appear, so far ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both are past the faculties, the brain, and the acumen. They can be acknowledged just by prompt
learning. Whatever is in the self is likewise in the non self. By this union of the Brahman and
Atman, Shankara dismisses a wide range of dualism and built up a powerful, epistemological, and
axiological non dualism. Brahman is available wherever as the spirit. That is, whatever is in the
universe is likewise in the microcosm. Every one of the three qualities of Brahman to be specific,
being, cognizance, and happiness are one and the same. This powerful, epistemological, and
axiological blend of Brahman in Shankara s logic is unrivaled ever. There is no refinement between
knower, information, and known in Brahman, nor any qualification between waking, envisioning,
and dozing; cognizance, obviousness and subliminal quality and so forth. Disregarding considering
Brahman as past all refinements, Shankara has not taken it to be a nullification. Brahman can be
acknowledged by prompt natural learning. Brahman is of the way of joy. Yet, this happiness is
simply a protest of understanding. Henceforth by calling Him joy, Brahman does not get to be

The Great Depression Of Arthur Miller, A Life Of Fame,...
A life of fame, luxury, and well known plays. This was unquestionably the life of Arthur Miller,
who is one of America s well known playwrights of the twentieth century. His impact on
American theater is still recognized today and will continue to be looked at for years to come.
However, Miller will not only be recognized by his plays but by his high profile marriage, his
work in politics and the list goes on. Arthur miller is viewed through American literature by his

father was a successful business owner providing a luxury life for his family. Due to the start of
the great depression in the late 1920 s his business collapse, this had a big impact on Millers life.
Centola stats in a biography, This sudden collapse of the familiar world was a crucial experience
in Miller s life, and he would later frequently draw on the tensions that were created by that severe
economic crisis in his writings (Centola). After high school miller will eventually attended the
University of Michigan in 1934, this is where Millers playwriting career began. There, in addition

My Personal History With Communication Technology
As I look back at my personal history with communication technology I remember using many
forms of social media to communicate with my friends and family. Back in the day when I was in
junior high I remember using MySpace, Skype, and phone calls. Today on the other hand I mainly
use Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. There are many reasons why I use these sites but I use
some sites more frequently than others it just depends on the person I want to communicate with.
My social media usage varies on the purpose I want to use it for or with whom I want to
communicate with. The reason I used MySpace in the past was to be cool like the rest of my
friends that were using it during that time. Before I had my own cell phone I was able to have
my own MySpace account. The reason I would use MySpace is because everyone at school
would use it, so I wanted to fit in with the rest of my friends. I used MySpace to talk friends that
had added me or friends of friends that I knew about but had never met in person. I would use it
to communicate with them rather than calling them on the phone. MySpace was the site where
I could portray myself in any way I wanted. I had the choice of what pictures people could see of
me, which music I liked, and other personal things that I could choose to display. MySpace was a
way for me to have some kind of social interactions with people I did not necessarily know, love,
or have an attraction to. MySpace was just a way to keep myself connected with society

Contributions Of Charles Darwin
Charles Darwin was an intelligent man. He didn t exactly succeed in the school institution even
though his family was wealthy, they didn t help Darwin with his courses in college. Dr. Robert
Darwin, Darwin s father sent him to medical school at Edinburg but unfortunately, Darwin
flunked out and was sent to Cambridge University for ministry. At Cambridge his professor, John
Henslow took Darwin scientific studies seriously and introduced him to influential people like
Captain Robert Fitzroy of the royal navy. Darwin embarked on the HMS Beagle as Fitzroy s
naturalist unpaid companion. The caption was given two missions, completed a survey of the
southern coast of South American and to obtain more accurate fixes of longitudes by using new
instruments. Darwin plans were to observe and collect specimens on the voyage. One of Darwin s
most significant discoveries was his discovery of the finches located on the GalГЎpagos Islands.
The finches were a major key to Darwin s theory of natural selection. Traveling in the HMS Beagle
also gave Charles Darwinthe idea of the theory of evolution and natural selection.
Darwin s voyage on the beagle was single handed the most important and defining moment of his
career. The beagle was a navy vessel which carried approximately 75 individuals. Darwin had a
different position on the ship as his counterparts. His father paid his way on the beagle which gave
him perks that his fellow naturalist did not have (Janice c

John Locke s Tabula Rasa
In John Locke s Tabula Rasa, he theorizes that every human is born as a blank slate, with society
and life experiences imprinting themselves to shape that person to who they are today. Society
has a social hierarchy that is instilled in every one of its followers, a pyramid with the ruler on
top and the obedient followers on the bottom. Pride may cause some to feel that they can climb
the pyramid, to reach the point where they are not in the shadows of their superiors and to bask in
the light of power. This is true even at the beginning of time with divine beings, such as Satan and
God. Writer and poet John Milton investigates this climb in his work and within himself as a
person. John Milton demonstrates his subservience towards God while... Show more content on

Milton is also characterized in this epic, in his role as a humble servant in God s eyes and as a
haughty superior over other authors. There are many parallels in Milton s life and the epic,
which enforce the dichotomy of darkness in Satan and the light in God and the power of
hierarchy in mankind and in nature. Milton connects them together, signifying that one has the
light and the freedom that it brings when obeying the most superior, God. While Milton contains
prideful darkness in himself, but he humbly requests for God to shine His purifying light,
signifying the power that light has over darkness. While Adam may have fallen from Paradise,
all hope is not lost. Forgiveness caused Milton s inner light to shine in his work and Jesus to
come down to save mankind. When readers realize this, the story of Paradise Lost becomes more
alive and important in their lives. That is the dream of a great poet and

Discuss the problems and opportunities facing the global advertiser
The prevailing arena in business this millennium has powerful forces, which are transforming
markets and spectacularly changing ways of doing business. There has been increased movement
of people, goods and organisations across borders, which have resulted in the emergence of global
market segments and the growth of globally integrated markets. In order to discuss the problems
and opportunities facing the global advertiser in today s environment we must understand firstly,

A fundamental strategic decision has to be made immediately as to whether to employ a uniform
marketing mix as part of a global strategy standardise or whether to adjust the marketing mix to take
account of the unique characteristics of each local market adapt . Standardisation involves the
offering of identical product line at identical prices through identical distribution systems, supported
by identical promotional programmes in several different countries.
The arguments however for standardisation suggest that if you go through the process of adapting
the product to local markets it does little but add to the overall cost of producing the product and
weakens the brand on the global scale. In today s global world, where consumers travel more,
watch satellite television, communicate and shop internationally over the Internet, the world now
is becoming a lot smaller. Because of this there is no need to adapt products to local markets.
Brands such as Coca Cola, MTV, Nike, Levis are all successful global brands where they have a
standardised approach to their marketing mix, all these products are targeted at similar groups
globally. The main reasons to encourage product standardisation involve Economies of Scale within
Production; Marketing/communications, Research amp; Development and Stock Holding. Easier

Essay on Child of Rage
Child abuse casts a shadow the length of a lifetime
Herbert Ward
The documentary A Child in Rage gave me an indescribable feeling. The hardships and pain that
this little girl had to go through was completely disgusting. Because of her father s neglect, they
made this little girls life a living hell. Attachment disorder is the result of a bonding process that
occurs between a child and caregiver during the first couple years of the child s life. From the view
of Mary Ainsworth, Harry Harlow, John Bowlbyand Rene Spitz attachment disorder does severe
damage depending on the child and the abuse level. This attachment break severely damages the
heart and mind. It stops the child s ability to care, love or trust. When a child ... Show more content

All she wanted to do was kill him the animals and her parents. She didn t like people and didn t
want to be around people. Everyone uses defense mechanisms to cope with whatever is going on
in their personal lives. Why do we use them? To protect ourselves and cover up bad feelings we
are having. In this case, I don t feel like Beth used defense mechanisms. In my opinion, when
Beth was doing his mischief it was because of the things her birth father was doing to her. So if
she did use a defense mechanism I would say she used displacement. She took her anger out on
the animals, her little brother and her parents. She knew she had an upper hand on her brother
because she was older and she most likely was bigger than her animals. In the case of her parents,
she would hurt them while they were sleep which gave her the upper hand on them. The treatment
for Beth s attachment disorder, the first step was to temporarily take her out of the home with her
brother and adoptive parents. She needed to be away from them. Once this happened she moved in
with a specialist that gave Beth boundaries. Since Beth did not trust anyone, they didn t not trust
her so she was given these boundaries and chores to start her on her treatment. Whenever she

  • 2. Socrates Unjust Man Throughout The Republic, Plato tries to paint a picture of a just man and an unjust man. Socrates is constantly challenged at both ends of the topic. Answering to the challenges Socrates describes an unjust man as happy on paper, and a just man happy and content in their soul. An unjust man in Socrates view is a rich man. An unjust man is only happy on paper but is that real happiness. An unjust man always wants more than he can obtain, and tries to gain it, when he cannot he is disappointed. An unjust man will be mean with their own money... but they ll love to spend other people s because of their appetites. Platodivides the soulinto two sections reason, spirit/indignation and appetites/desires. The unjust person lets his indignation and desires rule and keeps reason on the sideline. Once one of those takes place of reason, the man is in a state of chaos and starts behaving unjustly. The more the appetite grows the more unhappy he becomes, being subjected to his desires. Socrates goes on to explain an unjust man by comparing different societies and shows how they all start from a just society. However, they become corrupted. This is explained while Socrates describes the transformation from a Timocracy government to an Oligarchy. Socrates explains how if a person were to proceed further into money making, the more they value it, and the more they would be enslaved by it. Furthermore, Plato saves the worst society for last, Tyranny. Some people may consider them to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Most Common Internet Server Operating Systems Most Common Internet Server Operating Systems POS/355 Internet Servers (also commonly known as Web Servers), primarily function to deliver web pages on request to clients. When a user types a domain name into their browser, or clicks on a link, the request is first sent to a Domain Name Server (DNS). DNSs are servers that hold databases full of domain names and IP addresses. When a DNS receives a request, it matches the domain name (ie, www.CriketX.com) to the IP address of the server that holds all of the files that make up that particular website and sends that information back to the user s browser. The browser can then send a request for those files to the IP address of the web server (205.134.224.227 for www.CriketX.com). If ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... VB development tools as well as Access and MS SQL cannot be run on Linux servers, which is why Windows servers are a big hit with Microsoft technology fans. When it comes to system security, Windows web servers are more prone to attacks by hackers, but this also has more to do with administration than with the fact that it s running Windows (webdevelopersnotes.com). Also, Linux servers perform better under heavy traffic so, in the case of shared IP hosting where multiple sites are running on the same IP address, Linux is the better choice over Windows. Linux also offers more ways to connect. Windows offers FTP access and it s possible to configure telnet (if your hosting provider allows it) but Linux offers FTP, telnet, and ssh access. Linux servers are also more likely to offer CGI and Perl access, although some Windows servers do make it available. Both types of web servers offer server side scripting tools. When it comes down to choosing what operating system to use on a web server, or perhaps which hosting company to sign up with, these are all things that you need to take into consideration. In many cases, it s best to use Linux unless you have a specific reason not to. Many content management systems such as WordPress or Joomla use PHP and SQL which traditionally runs faster, and more reliably, on Linux systems, but can be run on Windows web servers as well. • 4. Nt1330 Unit 1 Algorithm Paper The complexity and memory requirements of the algorithm are in the order of $D_mathcal{D}.{rm N}$, denoted as $O(D_mathcal{D}{rm N})$. The algorithm become more effective when the minimum difference $Delta Y_k$ is large between the transmission probability gains $Y_k$. Consequently, our algorithm finds an optimal solution coupled with linear complexity, when the network become more heterogeneous due to small ${rm N}$. Our algorithm also finds the optimal solution with an increased complexity, when the network becomes more homogeneous or less heterogeneous due to increasing ${rm N}$. The quantization precision ${rm N}$ in Algorithm 1, is a physical quantity specified by the underlying network that elaborate the designing of quantization step. The total content size $H$ depends on the required content transmission rate $r_{c_i, d_i}$ and $Y_k$, whereas $Y_k sigma$ are defined by the contact dynamics of the nodes in a network. However, if the network is difficult by the required level of transmission ratio, the values of $Y_k$ and the value of $Delta Y_k$, such that $rm N$ is too large, then the designer may have to comprise by reducing the desired level of transmission ratio to reduce $rm N$. First the line, In the end, the prison will vanish and there will be no more Rubin, no more Carter. The writer used hyperbole to draw to the fact that people will forget him and he will forget his former self. Another example is, Only the Hurricane. And after him, there is no more. This is an allusion, it is alluding to the fact that after he stays in prison for long enough, no one will remember him only his legacy as the Hurricane. once people forget, he is nothing and the hurricane will pass like the natural disaster. The quotation overall applies to Carter s nickname in many ways. For instance, it can connect in a literal sense like the passing of a hurricane after to hits a place. It can also apply in a figurative way when speaking of his legacy and how it will be forgotten after time passes. (Evers, Joris 2006) Some thought that it showed that Microsoft was kind of being forced to see Linux as a significant competitor and the FOSS model as a viable business model. (Upfold, Peter 2006) My personal opinion is that this was an attack on the open source community. Microsoft hasn t actually changed its tune; it s still actively attacking free software and trying to abolish GNU/Linux while promoting Windows and other proprietary software as though they are complementary to free software, which they are not. It s PR nonsense and Microsoft is good at PR. • 12. The Core Values Of Hindu Religion I was curious to know if the Hindu people, who have drastically different beliefs from one another, are able to come together at a designated location and worship as one congregation. The core values the Hindu people share allow practitioners of all varying beliefs to accept their religious differences and come together as one congregation to worship. An example of this is illustrated through the failures of the worship communities and the success of pluralism over time. To begin, it s important to know that almost nothing is entirely agreed upon in within the Hindu community ( Hinduism 1). The few things all Hindus can agree on are the defining factors of the religion; meaning, if you don t subscribe to these beliefs, you don t technically identify as Hindu. The principles all Hindus can agree upon are: the Vedas are a very important scripture, karma is real, reincarnation is real, and all perspectives are welcome and ultimately better the religion (Darity, Jr. 477; Hinduism 4). Of the few core values that all Hindus share, tolerance is among the most important. You cannot discredit one s religious preference or beliefs and still be considered Hindu. Almost every other principle and belief is ambiguous and not wholly agreed upon. This means that even people with conflicting beliefs are accepted as Hindus as long as they believe in karma, reincarnation and the Vedas, and their differences strengthen the religion. Pluralism is a defining trademark of Hinduism. Pluralism ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Have you ever heard words that sound like gibberish making it extremely painful for you to understand? Have you ever tried to decipher a cryptic language that keeps you from unfurling the truth? The play, Cosi fan tutte, by W.A. Mozart and Lorenza De Ponte, fails to impress the audience by making its dialogue frighteningly difficult to understand. This musical drama, at its best, is ineffective which can be shown by its recurring dreary themes and its shockingly limited relatability. Perhaps it only redeemable quality is it genuine and dedicated cast, who try to add humor and excitement to this otherwise monotonous opus. Music lies at the heart of every opera. If the songs of the opera fail to impress the audience, it can spell disaster for the performance. The compositions of Cosi fan tutte prove to be dour and repetitious, ultimately setting a bleak and distressing atmosphere. For instance songs such as Sento oddio, che questo piede and Di Scrivermi ogni giorno address the same topic of Ferrando and Guglielmo leaving their fiancГ©s Fiordiligi and Dorabella and going off to war. In both of these songs, the men try to appease their clearly distressed fiancГ©s and in both of these songs the fiancГ©s give and overly dramatic performance of heartbreak. It s causes have a massive variance, and in many chronic cases the root source of pain can not be articulated at all. When a patient reports pain, the role of the nurse, and the whole healthcare staff, is to aim to reduce that pain. In many cases pain reduction can be attained through nonpharmacologic, complementary and alternative methods (CAM). Using CAM to reduce pain is an ideal scenario for both the patient and the healthcare staff as these alternative methods have fewer negative consequential effects. The following analysis will observe various methods of CAM pain reduction, highlighting two major CAM therapies of interest: music therapy, animal therapy. In addition, the following analysis will discuss how different demographics react to such therapies, with gender, age, ethnicity, and education level playing a role in relation to a patient s willingness to be open to CAM. • 21. Unrealistic Expectations In Willy Loman s Death Of A Salesman One could learn a lot from Willy Loman. He looks like he has all his ducks in a row, a nice wife who loves him unconditionally, and two handsome sons. He has a fancy car, new appliances, and a nice house. To a stranger looking in Willy s life looks like one to be envious of, however, all is not what it seems. Willy is consumed with superficial belongings. Instead of being happy with what he has, he is more upset about what he doesn t have. Willy Loman s thought processes are skewed and he has unrealistic expectations, not only for himself, but his sons as well. Willy s two sons, Happy and Biff, were raised to think that having good looks and being well liked meant to be successful. Instead of instilling in his sons that hard work pays off, ... • 22. Analysis of Millard MeissВґ Painting in Florence and Siena... This book my Millard Meiss is addressing an area of study that is lacking. This text while informative is difficult to follow and the puts a lot of pressure on the reader to connect the dots. The content of the early renaissance can often be a difficult time in art history to nail down and discuss just because it is on the cusp of the late medieval and the renaissance itself. As any time of transition it can be difficult to understand what is happening in the world of art but may have been more convincing if he had placed this Tuscan period within the context of Europe as a whole at the time .This text by Millard Meiss helps the audience contextualize what was was happening in Italy after the black deathand in doing so we understand the art world that much better. That being said the way in which Miess goes about making the argument that the art of this time is regressive, is problematic. In response to the question posed by this assignment how effective in my view is Millard Meiss s argumentation? I am coming from the stand point that his argument is not effective. His argument is problematic because it is unclear, difficult to follow, lacks cohesion, and puts too much work on the reader. These elemental issues with his writing and argumentation are what in my view render the argument Millard Meiss is trying to make ineffective throughout his text Painting in Florence and Siena after the Black Death . Furthermore, one of the major issues with the argument that Meiss is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on A Child Soldier s Life Carolina Quinones Mr. Paradis English 10 11 June 2013 A Child Soldier s Life The life of a child soldier is not an easy one; it s full of violence and bloodshed. Children from most ages get recruited and are forced to do things that they are against, things that are against their beliefs. But although child soldiers suffer through many mental disorders, they can still be respectable adults. They go through many things, the recruiting itself, then the violence, after comes the horrifying rehabilitation and last they are finally reintegrated into society. In A Long Way Gone, Ishmael suffered from these things, himself explaining that at some point in his life, he just went numb to everything (Beah 121). Throughout Africa, rebel ... Different methods are taken to help these children rehabilitate, but none the less, they are rehabilitated, and helped, taken away from the war and returned to their childhoods. After the children are rehabilitated, they are reintegrated into society with the hope that they will continue their lives violence free. Actual studies have been made to evaluate the process of the children after they are rehabilitated and thrown back into society. In the study, children who had killed someone increased levels in hostility, others who survived rape also had high levels of anxiety and hostility but they had shown greater confidence and prosocial attitudes. At the end of the study, the improved community acceptance lowered levels of depression and improved confidence and prosocial attitudes despite the violent past. This is nothing new however. It has as happened for centuries and will continue to happen. The definition of terrorism is to use violence and threats to intimidate or to coerce others, particularly for political purposes. Staying home huddled in fear is not an option. If you are forced to change, because of a threat then you have been coerced, and you now have lost a certain amount of freedom, but then again survival is the objective. The so called lone wolf attack is the hardest one to guard against, because a person can have intentions that are not disclosed to anyone, and if they are, it is usually to sympathizers that only encourage the behavior and not deter it. But if we look at the overall picture in the eye of citizens of a developing country, an honest assessment might conclude that progress has been made. Though, profound social disparities and extreme poverty are still lurking in some parts of this fragile planet. Foreign aid is the transfer of capital, goods, or services from one country to another. Millions of people across this country have had to deal with healthcare one way or another. Having the government intervene in such matters makes things complicated from Cost to HIPPA and Interventions. The purpose of this paper is to discuss why governmentintervention should be limited in terms of healthcare. The first major reason why government intervention poses a problem for most people is the cost. Most people do not have the means to deal with healthcare without some type of intervention from the government but the type of intervening they need may cost them more than they were ready to take on. As costs increase, we hear or read almost daily that some 39 to 40 million people are without insurance for medical care. (Grosse). This is due to the rising in cost that the government has put on its citizens. While the government tries it s best to ensure that everyone is well covered there are still certain situations that cause people to have to pay tremendous amounts of money out of pocket for medication and supplies necessary for them. A recent government report stated that for Medicare alone, more than $2 billion dollars is lost every month due to waste, mismanagement, and fraud. (Grosse). Sometimes, Snyder argues, states over expand so aggressively that their actions risk the survival of the states themselves, as was the case of Germany and Japan in the World War II era. But to Snyder, these experiences are still considered to be similar. Additionally, Snyder uses only one non Western case study to make his point. If Snyder were to come out with a new edition of Myths of Empire, the book would greatly benefit from additional, non Western case studies (considering Japan is really the only non Western case study the book analyzes) such as China and its emerging global influence or North Korea. Snyder also takes on too literal a definition of expansion, and does not take into account the others ways in which states can expand. Expanding does not necessarily need to mean only territorially. In the second half of the eighteenth century, Britain gained the maritime supremacy in the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean, and constructed many ships both for the navy and for the merchants. However, as Britain could not produce the sufficient quantity of naval stores in her own country, Britain depended on the import of naval stores from several areas. The Duality Of Bhamman And Brahman In Shankara s Dualism In his philosophical attempts, Shankara tried to demonstrate that the reality is one and Brahman is the most noteworthy supernatural reality and opposes duality. As indicated by Raju (1983), Shankara acknowledges the truth of Brahman on the premise of the Upanishads. In any case, in his contentions with the schools that don t acknowledge the Vedic power (for example Buddhism), he built up another premise. The Brahman is depicted in various courses by the Upanishads, and the portrayals come down at last into three constitutive attributes: Being (satta), Consciousness (cit), and Bliss (ananda). That is, whatever is in the universe is likewise in the microcosm. Every one of the three qualities of Brahman to be specific, being, cognizance, and happiness are one and the same. My Personal History With Communication Technology As I look back at my personal history with communication technology I remember using many forms of social media to communicate with my friends and family. Back in the day when I was in junior high I remember using MySpace, Skype, and phone calls. Today on the other hand I mainly use Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. There are many reasons why I use these sites but I use some sites more frequently than others it just depends on the person I want to communicate with. My social media usage varies on the purpose I want to use it for or with whom I want to communicate with. The reason I used MySpace in the past was to be cool like the rest of my friends that were using it during that time. Before I had my own cell phone I was able to have my own MySpace account. The reason I would use MySpace is because everyone at school would use it, so I wanted to fit in with the rest of my friends. I used MySpace to talk friends that had added me or friends of friends that I knew about but had never met in person. I would use it to communicate with them rather than calling them on the phone. MySpace was the site where I could portray myself in any way I wanted. I had the choice of what pictures people could see of me, which music I liked, and other personal things that I could choose to display. John Locke s Tabula Rasa In John Locke s Tabula Rasa, he theorizes that every human is born as a blank slate, with society and life experiences imprinting themselves to shape that person to who they are today. Society has a social hierarchy that is instilled in every one of its followers, a pyramid with the ruler on top and the obedient followers on the bottom. Pride may cause some to feel that they can climb the pyramid, to reach the point where they are not in the shadows of their superiors and to bask in the light of power. This is true even at the beginning of time with divine beings, such as Satan and God. Writer and poet John Milton investigates this climb in his work and within himself as a person. Milton connects them together, signifying that one has the light and the freedom that it brings when obeying the most superior, God. Standardisation involves the offering of identical product line at identical prices through identical distribution systems, supported by identical promotional programmes in several different countries. The arguments however for standardisation suggest that if you go through the process of adapting the product to local markets it does little but add to the overall cost of producing the product and weakens the brand on the global scale. In this case, I don t feel like Beth used defense mechanisms. In my opinion, when Beth was doing his mischief it was because of the things her birth father was doing to her.
