The Nature Of Realism In Dorothy Allison s Bastard Out Of...
In the book Bastard out of Carolina, Dorothy Allison employs a great deal of realism by
portraying the reality of human nature to reflect in her writing. She reflects the nature of realism
by incorporating her personal experiences from her childhood without romanticizing them. Allison
interprets without holding back the reality of sexual awareness, abuse, and societal order within
her book without hindering how she felt. The reader is really able to grasp the story line and
experience every single emotion that the protagonist, being Bone, felt. The novel, Bastard Out of
Carolina takes the reader through the life of a dirt poor South Carolina girl from birth to the
coming of age thirteen. The protagonist, Bone, is born illegitimate due to

Healing In Bleachers, By Messina Neely
Healing is a long process, and the first step in this process is forgiveness. Before one can forgive
other people for various grievances, one has to forgive oneself. In John Grisham s Bleachers
Neely Crenshaw has a lifetime of built up frustration and regret. No matter what he does or how
far away from his hometown he moves, he can never forget what occurred there. Neely was once
Messina s golden boy All American quarterback before a knee injury in college ended his
promising football career. He once had a lovely, caring, upright girlfriend before he tossed her to
the sideline for a more seductive, promiscuous vixen. Eddie Rake, Neely s high school football
coach, was once his idol who he was always trying to please, before a halftime altercation in the
state title game led to Coach Rake slapping Neely, and Neely in retaliation knocking Coach Rake
out cold. However, fifteen years later Coach Rake is on his death bed and Neely is drawn back to
Messina, along with all of Rake s former players, to pay tribute to the legendary coach. Once back
in Messina Neely finally confronts the demons he has been trying to escape his whole life, and
forgive himself in the process. Messina lives, breathes,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After fifteen long years of discontent and feeling unfulfilled, Neely confronts the demons that
have haunted him for so long. Cameron Lane has forgiven him and given him a sense of closure
he has needed for a long time. Neely has begun to put the past behind him and allow people to
see him as more than just a nineteen year old All American quarterback leading his team to
victory. He has forgiven Coach Eddie Rake and re allowed him to occupy a special place in his
heart. Neely even thinks And when the name of Eddie Rake was mentioned, he would smile and
maybe life and tell a story of his own. One with a happy ending (Grisham 229). Most of all, Neely
has forgiven himself not only for the pain he caused others, but for the pain he caused

This law is written as:
A=abc(3)
Where a is the molar absorptivity, b is the path length and c is the concentration of the analyte.
Spectrophotmetry is not only confined within the boundaries of chemistry. Its principles have
several applications in different branches of science. In biochemistry, it can be used to determine
enzyme catalyzed reactions, whereas in clinical application, it is used to examine blood and tissues.
This quantitative method of analysis can also be used in engineering, physics,etc.[2]
METHODOLOGY
The experiment was initially done by preparing standard solutions of different volumes of Cu(II)
stock solution of known concentration including a blank solution composed of ammonia and water.
Each volume of the solution was placed in volumetric flasks, and in each flask, same amount of
concentrated NH3 was added. The same procedures were also done in the preparation of the diluted
unknown Cu(II) solution. Addition of ammonia caused the formation of deeper blue copper
ammonia complex which allowed the spectrophotometer to detect the solution easily due to
increase in its absorbance. The formation of the complex is shown by the following chemical
reaction:
Cu2+ + 4NH3 [Cu(NH3)4]2+ (4)
A deficiency in ammonia in the solution would cause the copper ammonia complex to turn into its
hydrated form which would eventually alter the accuracy of the data obtained because of its

Why Is Collegiality A Virtue
Trust
The vast majority of employees in organization are hard working, ethical, competent and honest.
There should be an atmosphere of trust among partners and between the management of the firm
and its partners. The necessity of rules and procedures should be carefully examined, and there
should be a distinct bias against controls on partner behaviour. Communicated expectations are
more effective generally than proscriptions. In a milieu of trust, however, there must be the
capacity to sanction behaviour amounting to a lack of trust. Moreover, a trusting firm does not have
to be a firm which is sleep walking. However, it must have the capability to identify and deal with
those partners who are not worthy of trust.

Business Development
An important technique in establishing and maintaining a collegial environment is to have team
marketing focusing on particular industries or clients. This approach can be effective if those
devoting time and effort to the approach are credited with the success.
Why is collegiality a Virtue?
From society s perspective, collegiality is an instrumental value, it is good in promoting
professional aims, by sharing commitment with others, supports personal efforts to act responsibly
in concert with colleagues and strengthen one s motivation to live up to professional standards.
From professionals perspectives, collegiality is intrinsically valuable. It defines as professional
community as composed of many individuals jointly pursuing the public good.
Collegiality, like most virtues, can be misused and distorted, such as when peers appeal to it in
urging silence about corporate corruption. It is not an excuse or justification for shielding
irresponsible conduct. Collegiality can degenerate into mere group interest, rather than shared
devotion to the public good.

Existentialism Is a Humanism
CONTEXT Sartre is trying to defend existentialism against some disapproval to it. The Communist
criticized existentialism as an invitation to people to take interest in hopeless world affairs. On the
other hand, Christians reproached from the fact that people deny the need of attention in human
affairs. People have the will to do anything they want and wish. With the example given, about
ignoring the Ten Commandments, we can people deny the value of following the commandments
and will only follow it if they wish.
THE MEANING OF EXISTENTIALISM According to Sartre, existentialism is a principle that
provides human life possible. It also determines that every truth and action we know involves both
an environmental and a human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Marxists believe that you can rely upon the help of others. That even when you die, other will
still continue what you did and help. While Sartre s argument is that he cannot fully trust those
people he doesn t know. Yes, he can entrust his works and life with his comrades and family, but not
to strangers. Does that mean that I should abandon myself to quietism? NO. What we should do is
to commit ourselves then act the commitment made. Sartre stated that man is nothing else than
what he proposes. Because he hasn t found anything yet he seeks, he continues to living until the
day he found it. You are nothing else but what you live , this means that a man is no other than a
series of undertaking, that he is the sum, the organization, the set of relations that constitute these
undertaking. Behaviors of the people are caused by the actions happening in their environment
upon them. The implication given was how a coward became a coward, and a hero became a
hero. Being a coward is the act of giving up. How sternness of optimism here

Essay On Women In Beowulf
In a few literature classics of the Anglo Saxon period, the absence of the female figure in this
society is very noticeable. On various pieces, it is obvious that the portrayal of how a woman was
nothing without her lord or husband, and how women merely depended on a male figure to be part
of the society or even accept it. Throughout the years, society has been changing for women to what
it is today. A womantoday does not need a man to be recognized as successful, strong and
independent in society. In Beowulf there is evidence of six women in the entire story while, if
we count the male figures we can easily figure out the prominence of a patriarchal system.
Starting with Grendel s mother, seeking for revenge on her son s death, gives an example of a
motherly figure fighting for her youngster. Another example relating to the argument are
Wealhtheow and Hygd. Wealhtheow and Hygd are both described as this perfectly lady like of
excellent heart girls, whose main job is nothing more than to pass around a cup of mead to the
warriors and knights, just basically be hostesses. Meticulously analyzing it is an obvious conclusion
that in comparison to the male... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carefully understanding the text, it describes how the narrator lived in misery, torture, loneliness,
agony and pain while she was a recluse. The whole poem is her pointing out how she felt worthless
without her husband while he is God knows where ( I grieved each dawn as I wondered were my
lord, my first on Earth might be ). The inequality on how a female was sent into reclusion because
of not exactly proven accusations of adultery is very unjust due to the fact that men weren t
punished as much, if they were even penalized at all. The job of a female consisted on being a
house wife, taking care of kids, taking care of the house, while men were working. Girls were

Anti-Bullying Program Analysis
When discussing our prevention project my group thought that we should look for other effective
bullying programs and see how they achieved success. That is when I came across and article on
the Great Schools website. This article explained that a group from the University of Kansas was
looking in to implementing an anti bullyingprogram at the local elementary schools. The program,
KiVa, was very successful in Finland and these college students wanted to see if it would work
in schools here in the United States. The article only explained that they planned to implement
this program and did not provide any follow up on if it was implemented and if it was successful.
While the article was, short and didn t give a lot of information to go on, it did give me a starting
point to look for the research on the KiVa program to see if... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Some of the outcomes from the study involved improved view of school as a caring environment
which led to better learning in core subjects. This program lowered overall depression symptoms
for the fourth through sixth grade students, but was significant especially for the students in sixth
grade that were reported victims of bullying. Lowering depression symptoms also improved self
esteem among the sixth grade victims as well. Not only were significant improvements seen
following the study, but these improvements were seen to have long lasting effects six months
after the completion of the program. Results like this suggest that these children will possibly
carry what they have learned into future school environments and on to post school or career
fields. The only down side I saw to this program is that it has yet to have been replicated using
other cultures, but I have hope that the University of Kansas students are in the process of
completing this

Art Therapy Papers
As you know, depression is like a cloud hanging over everything you do. It alters who you are, by
effecting how you interact with and treat others. It clouds the joys of your life and makes you see
your future as drudgery. Thankfully, there is hope when it comes to treating depression, beyond
medication and counseling (although these are both vital tools of recovery.) This additional therapy
is known as art therapy.
What is Art Therapy?
According to the American Art Therapy Association, art therapy, an expressive therapy, is using art
as a therapeutic treatment for various illnesses and challenges, all within a professional setting. Art
therapy has been shown as a way to both detect and treat depression. It can be in group settings or
individualized. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By creating art you have an actual product you can see and learn through.
What Art Therapy Isn t:
Remember, this isn t an art class. A therapist s focus is never to critique your expressive art or
your technique. They don t care if what you draw or paint is pretty to look at. They only want to
understand what your art means to you. They will help you interpret the meaning behind your art.
As a result, you shouldn t be afraid to enjoy art therapy if you are not artistic. Painting or drawing a
masterpiece is not what art therapy is about. It s about healing through expressive means.
Why it Works So Well:
Art provides a pleasure factor not often associated with basic counseling. It doesn t just encourage
communication alone. It provides an outlet for expression. An outlet that is less intimidating for
many people than using word. To better understand the concept, consider the graffiti that is
present in many cities. These drawings or tags are drawn as a way for the individual to make their
mark. In the same way, art therapy allows those who are suffering from depression to express what
is going on inside.

Female Circumcision Essay
Female Genital Circumcision Female genital circumcision (FGC) is a cultural ritual that is
performed to the vast majority of women within the countries of Sudan, Kenya, Mali, Benin, Togo,
and parts of the Middle East. Female genital circumcision also termed as female genital mutilation
is used based upon a person s beliefs. This ritual has been highly controversial for many years
especially in the western society, due to the health risks that women may have to go through.
Doctor Gruenbaum, and anthropologist who studied FGC in Sudan, has researched this topic and
believes that outsiders need to have an open mind about diverse cultures. I believe that this
procedure should not be illegal; however, education about the risks of the procedure... Show more

The practice of female genital circumcision is also shown in other cultures in different parts of
the world. It is highly concentrated in North of Africa; however, it has existed also in Middle
Eastern countries and some parts of Asia. Some of the Middle Eastern countries that practice
FGC are Yemen, Oman, Iraqi Kurdistan, amongst some Bedouin women in Israel, and was also
practiced by the Ethiopian Jews. It is unclear whether they continue with the practice now that
they are settled in Israel. FGC is also practiced among Bohra Muslim populations in parts of
India and Pakistan, and amongst Muslim populations in Malaysia and Indonesia (FORWARD).
There are different types are Female Genital Circumcision; mostly it is put in one category by an
outsider. Dr. Greunbaum in her book, The Female Circumcision Controversy: An Anthropological
Perspective, states that FGC cannot be generalized but it can be differentiated and grouped.
Every cultural group performs this sacred ritual in a different way. Historically, FGC is believed
to have originated from Ethiopia or Egypt, FGC was practiced by Ethiopians, Phoenicians, Hittites
(Taba, 1979) and may have spread to other parts of Africa. WHO has categorized FGC in four
different categories: Type one is known as clitoridectomy, which is

The Pathophysiology Of Pina Ossicles
1.Pinna
Pinna is the outer ear it is made of cartilage that have a ridged surface. The main purpose of the
pinna is that; it funnels sound into the external auditory canal. This sound wave then hits the
tympanic membrane (Mohua, 2016).
2. External Auditory Canal
The auditory canal is the tube like structure just before the tympanic membrane. The task of the
auditory canal is to transport sound waves to the tympanic membrane (Mohua, 2016).
3.4.9. Ossicles
The ossicles are three little bones, which are located in the middle ear. The names of the bones are
in order; first is the malleus this bone is attached to the tympanic membrane. Next is the incus this
the second bone and is attached to the malleus. Last but not least the stapes is after the malleus but
before the oval window (Debara, T.I 2016). The main role for the ossicles are that they receive
vibrations from the tympanic membrane. When the ossicles receives the vibrations they then
amplify automatically; enabling them to transmit these vibrations to the oval window (Debara, T.I
2016). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Biographies And Biographies Of Books Essay
The term nonfiction is a very broad classifier of literature. Alongside fiction, the two genres account
for all the literature in existence. A quick internet search will present a number of genres that are
considered nonfiction. From historical eyewitness accounts, to creative nonfiction, to biographies,
there are many genres that people generally accept as factual. Memoirs and biographies are usually
counted on the more reliable side. Thus, there exist a number of sub genrethat fall under the title of
nonfiction . However, take a look past the surface, a number of problems with this stance arise. In
all truth, the brains of human beings are the only source behind the facts of biographies and
memoirs. As it turns out, this is the source is far from credible. Memoirs and biographies are not
reliable sources of nonfiction due to the differences between brains, bias which affects the brain,
and the faulty nature of brain functions. Every person has a distinct, separate brain, despite how
similar people may feel to the others around them. Calahan had violent behaviors and got more

One can also consider why there are now so many overnight mail carriers such as United Parcel
Service and Airborne Express. The second example pertains to the exit from an industry,
specifically, the airline industry in the United States. Pan Am, a pioneer in public air transportation,
is no longer in operation, while some airlines such as TWA (Trans World Airlines) are on the verge
of exiting the airlines industry. Why, then, have many airlines that operate on international routes
fallen on hard times, while small regional airlines seem to be doing just fine? Managerial economics
provides answers to these questions.
In order to answer pertinent questions, managerial economics applies economic theories, tools,
and techniques to administrative and business decision making. The first step in the decision
making process is to collect relevant economic data carefully and to organize the economic
information contained in data collected in such a way as to establish a clear basis for managerial
decisions. The goals of the particular business organization must then be clearly spelled out. Based
on these stated goals, suitable managerial objectives are formulated. The issue of central concern in
the decision making process is that the desired objectives be reached in the best possible manner.
The term best in the decision making context primarily refers to achieving the goals in the most

Rabbi Weiner Summary
Criterion C: Summary of Significant Findings The interview with Rabbi Weiner proved to be
very illuminating, and quite a bit about the meaning of ethics in Jewish monotheism was
displayed. When asked why Jews place such importance on following the halakha, Rabbi Weiner
said, Ethics is the core of Judaism because of the Covenant that Abraham made with God. It s not
enough simply to believe in God, one must act in a moral manner in order to truly be considered
ethical from a Jewish perspective. (Weiner). He also described Jewish ethical monotheism as a sort
of Covenantal Ethics , in which the many commandments given to the Jewish people by Adonai
form the essence of Jewish worship and study (Weiner). A personal relationship and belief in...

The origin of ethical monotheism for all of the Abrahamic religions lies in Judaism, where Adonai
is the one true God. While having a strong belief in God, as Rabbi Weiner said, certainly deepens
the Jewish faith from a religious perspective, the halakha is what actually serves as the ethical
center of Judaism. The hypothesis based off of early research predicted that this would be the case,
but the interview with the Rabbi as well as an examination of the Tanakh confirmed this position. It
is with Catholicism, however, that the significant findings contrast somewhat with the hypothesis.
From the research, it was predicted that Catholics would generally place more importance on faith
as their holy center than on law, which is indeed the case. Jesus Christ died for the sins of
humanity, and it takes more than just ethical action to repay that debt. Yet, in the hypothesis, the
role that Biblical ethics has on the Catholic faith was not foreseen. Catholics view Baptism as one
of the most ethical actions a person can undertake in their lifetime; and, though this sacrament is
indeed a matter of Biblical law rather than faith, it still greatly informs their monotheistic beliefs.
Though Catholicism definitely places more value on a firm conviction in God than Judaism, it
cannot simply be written off as a religion with no need for ethical

The Apology And Phaedo By Plato Essay
The Apology and Phaedo by Plato are two different books describing what is like to be a
philosopher per Socrates believes. These two books take place in two different scenarios in
Socrates life, The Apology takes place in a court room where Socrates is to defend himself from
false charges brought to him by Meletus who is acting as the prosecutor. Phaedo, on the other
hand, takes place in a prison cell post judgment on the day of Socratesexecution. Hence, The
Apology and Phaedo appeared to display different philosophies: The Apology, Platopresented
Socrates as wise for he knows that he knows nothing, hence he is seeking wisdom by questioning
those who think they know more or something, just to find that they don t know anything,
therefore Socrates makes it his duty to make them look ignorant/stupid. Phaedo, Socrates
focuses primarily on death and the immortality of the soul, hence he is seeking knowledge by
devoting his final hours picking the minds of his friends to explain the role of a philosopher,
which is preparing for death. Consequently, these two views are really the same, yet presented
differently by Socrates, for in one he is defending his freedom and life using philosophy, hence
he has only done what the Gods expected of him. From the other view, he resigned to his fate, for
as a philosopher, he knows his soul will finally become liberated from the evils and limitations of
the body to come to its divine state.
The Apology, Plato begins by exhibiting

The Attitude Of The Poem My Last Duchess By Robert Browning
9th Grade English Essay: Discuss the attitude of the poet towards the duchess in My Last Duchess
by Robert Browning
In the middle ages , the main topic used in poems was a nobleman, usually a knight in love with
a married woman and had to prove his devotion by heroic deeds and amorous writings . They
used blazon to emphasis the beautiful bodies of the women in those days. However, there was a
radical change in the Victorian times where prostitution became such a big issue. The poems
became darker and less courtly. In the poem, My last duchess by Robert Browning there was no
traditional blazon such as complementing the duchess body. Yet, the speaker who is also the Duke
talks about the women s body as the main justification for her assassination. The duke talks about
her smile as the reason for his jealousy and possessive obecession.
Robert Browning uses various literary devices to provoke a feeling to the reader. By his choice of
devices, we are able to understand the feelings of the Duke towards the Duchess. The rhyme
scheme of this poem is organized in rhyming couplets (AABBCC) this is used to show the
relationship between him and the duchess (couplets) it may also be used to show is obecession
with controlling everything and having everything organized and planned. The lines are paired in
rhyming couplets, but these couplets are open which shows the Robert Browning uses various
literary devices to provoke a feeling to the reader. By his choice of devices, we are

Unionization, Collective Bargaining, And Discrimination
Prior to reading this novel, the whole concept of unionization and collective bargaining was a
completely foreign subject to me. I had heard people talking about them, but I had no idea what
kind of power they held, and just how much difficulty they caused in the workplace. In reading
Unintimidated by Wisconsin s governor Scott Walker, I learned just how much power a union
could hold over management, and just how strongly people felt towards unionization on both
sides of the issue. While reading this book, I developed some beliefs about unions, and I certified
my beliefs in other areas of politics. Right from the beginning of the novel, I knew that the

Food Shortages And Its Effects On Eating Habits Essay
Introduction
In America, we are constantly surrounded by abundance. Food is a prevalent waste item in the
United States. Most people do not think about the resources it took to produce, transport, and
prepare the food they throw away. Our food waste is not actually just trash; it is the key to human
survival. Ordinary consumers can change the future with one small action: to stop wasting food.
Actions at the individual level can decrease food waste and feed those in need. Twenty five
percent of purchased food is thrown away. (TED) Often this is because food has spoiled, but it can
be for other reasons such as oversupply, misread labels, or individual consumer shopping and eating
habits. http://www.fao.org/docrep/018/i3347e/i3347e.pdf
Food insecurity can be defined as the inability to acquire an adequate quality or sufficient quantity
of food in socially acceptable ways or the uncertainty that one will be able to do so. One in six
Americans are food insecure. There are five components of food security, including quantity,
quality, suitability, psychological, and social factors. Food insecurity can occur for a variety of
reasons, the main one being poverty. Decreasing the amount of food wasted has the ability to feed
millions of these Americans.
Food loss refers to a decrease in mass, nutritional value, or quality of food that was originally
intended for human consumption. These losses are caused by shrinkage from cooking, loss from
mold, pests, or inadequate

Argumentative Essay On Student Veterans
On July 21, 2015, President Obama addressed the VFW National Convention on the 70th

though less than one percent of Americans wear the uniform, that 100 percent of Americans honor
your sacrifices and your service (The White House, Office of the Press Secretary, 2015). In my own
personal attempt to honor those who have served our country, I decided to learn more about the
student veteran experience in the higher education environment. Not only am I researching student
veterans because of the call from President Obama to honor their service, I m interested in the topic
from the taxpayer perspective. In November 2015, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs reported
that $12 billion was spent on education benefits for over one million military veterans in the fiscal

The Theme Of Childhood In The NovelFranny And Zooey
Though not much is known about J.D. Salinger s childhood or family, a plethora of his works
include overall themes of family and how different aspects of childhood can affect someone in
the future (Wenke). In his novel, Franny and Zooey, this theme is an important part of the story
(French). The story begins with Franny Glass story, told in third person by an unknown narrator.
She s taking a weekend off from college to meet her boyfriend, Lane Coutell, to eat lunch and
spend the weekend with him for his college s football weekend. At lunch, Franny has a mental
breakdown and tells Lane about how she hates all of the fake people she encounters. She meets
many poets and they all write about what will interest people and not about what they actually
feel. She finds beauty in the things that actually have important value to people rather than
something that means nothing. Lane also questions her on the little green book she always
carries around. She avoids the question until she can t and explains she got it in her college
library, which she is obviously lying about. She proceeds to go to the bathroom and pass out.
When she wakes up, Lane can tell something is wrong, but he no longer questions her. Then it
switches to Zooey s story. It is narrated by the second eldest Glass sibling, Buddy Glass. Zooey
and his mother, Bessie, are struggling to get along. She continuously questions him, and she babies

In the fourth stanza, Clark uses imagery to talk about segregation. She also uses the simile, I 40
bisected the black community like a tourniquet of concrete, which means they cut off the flow of
traffic and really segregated the black community from everything else. Also in this stanza, the
violence of the 60 s was shown through the imagery of the lines stating, Ambulance siren driving
over the house that called 911, diminishing howl in the distance, black bodies going straight to the
morgue. Violence on innocent black peoplehappened daily and this quote shows that. Stanza five
also shows imagery by saying, At the downtown library, a continuous loop flashes SNCC videos
with black and white kids training for spit and circular cigarette burns as the video toggles from
coaching to counters covered in pillars of salt and pie and soda magma of the movement. . The
phrase continuous loop flashes SNCC videos is a use of imagery. Also in this stanza, and the
first line of stanza six, the author s words have a deeper meaning then on the surface. The lines
talk about the tolerance of the blacks. Counters covered in pillars of salt and pie and soda magma

The Diet Of The Atkins Diet
A physician by the name of Robert Atkins started the Atkins Diet in 1972 after he stumbled upon a
study he read in the Journal of the American Medical Association about weight reduction through
the elimination of sugar and starch. At the time he was overweight and decided to implement this
study into his own life and ended up losing a significant amount of weight. This led him to
promoting the diet in his own series of books. The overall premise of the diet is to start with
limiting the number of carbohydrates being consumed while eating as much fat and protein you
want. Then, gradually increasing the amount of healthy carbohydrates consumed. There are 4
phases to the Atkins diet: Induction, Ongoing Weight Loss, Pre Maintenance, and... Show more

The second phase of the Atkins diet is Ongoing Weight Loss where you slowly increase the
amount of carbohydrates in your diet. Essentially you add 5 grams of carbs to your diet every
week until you reach a point where you aren t gaining or losing weight (Atkins, 2002). The third
phase of the diet is Pre Maintenance in which carbohydrate intake is slightly increased again.
However, this time the increase is significant enough that the body is no longer in a state of ketosis.
The key here is to find a maximum level of carbohydrates you can consume without gaining
weight (Atkins, 2002). Lifetime Maintenance is the final phase of the Atkins diet. In this phase
you are expected to carry out the habits acquired from the previous phases. If you find yourself
gaining weight again then you can revert back to one of the previous phases. This is a permanent
lifestyle you need to adapt in order to carry on with the progress you made so far (Atkins, 2002).
The main reason we are limiting carbohydrates in the first place is to control the release of insulin
by the pancreas. Carbohydrates are responsible for raising insulin levels, which in turn promotes
glucose uptake by the cells. On the other hand, insulin initiates a pathway that inhibits fat
breakdown and at the same time promotes synthesis of fatty acid, cholesterol, and glycogen.
Therefore, elevated levels of insulin are associated with cardiovascular disease.

Discretionary Access Control (DAC)
Discretionary Access Control (DAC)
Computer security is important in every organization. It covers several areas such as locking the
computer room and the computer itself, protecting login accounts with passwords, encrypting
network communication lines and use of file protection among others. Whitman (2011) points out
that computer system security ensures that your computer does what it is supposed to, even if the
users do what they should not do. Discretionary Access Control (DAC) is a type of access controls
that provides protection to the files in a computer system. This type of control restricts access to
files based on the identity of users or groups which they belong. It is discretionary and lets you
tell the computer system who can have access to your files and therefore you can specify the
type of access allowed. For example, you can allow anyone to read a particular file in the system,
but allow only you to be able to change it.
According to Whitman (2011), this type of control access is rarely used with high security systems
because someone with permission to access files is able to pass that permission either directly or
indirectly on to any other person. This capability poses a threat to the security of the files and can
be dangerous to a high security system. An organization that requires high security, but the
operating system only supports DAC, can compensate with the use of an Access Control List
(ACL). Haldar (2010) defines ACL as a list which denotes which

The first one that immediately stood out would be the Offerings dimension, which is defined as

offerings dimension would be Lubriderm s 3 in 1 Men s Lotion. This lotion is specialized with

largest consumer health company and the world s eighth largest pharmaceutical company, thus it is
no surprise that they service customers in need of health and well being ( Johnson amp; Johnson,

thinking differently about sourcing and fulfillment (Kotler amp; Keller, p. 47). Johnson amp;
Johnson focuses on promoting sustainability throughout their supply chain through their
Procurement Sustainability Initiative, their Carbon Disclosure Project and their Pharmaceutical
Supply Chain Initiative. The Procurement Sustainability Initiative is their process of evaluating

Scoring: Bocce ball is a game played with two teams, each comprised of one, two or four players.
Each team has four bocci balls with which to play, and they are divided equally among players.
Each team tosses the bocci balls as close to the pallina ball as possible.
How to play:
1.)Divide players into two teams of one, two or four players each. Each team gets four balls,
divided equally among the players. A coin toss determines who will play first.
2.)To start the game have a player from the starting team stand behind the foul line (which is 10

end of the playing surface. The same person who tossed the Pallino then throws the one Bocce Ball

most part. I liked it when Buck is at his house in Santa Clara California. I disliked it when Buck

Also when the man in the red sweater beats Buck with a club. My opinion about chapter two is
that it worse than chapter one. I hated it when Curly died when she was just trying to be nice. I

and believe that policy can manage aggregate demand, and thereby, production and employment, to

Increased spending on investment adds to aggregate demand and helps to restore normal levels of
production and employment.Fiscal policy, on the other hand, can provide an additional tool to
combat recessions and is particularly useful when the tools of monetary policy lose their
effectiveness. When the government cuts taxes, it increases households disposable income, which
encourages them to increase spending on consumption. When the government buys goods and
services, it adds directly to aggregate demand. Moreover, these fiscal actions can have multiplier
effects: Higher aggregate demand leads to higher incomes, which in turn induces additional
consumer spending and further increases in aggregate demand.Traditional Keynesian analysis
indicates that increases in government purchases are a more potent tool than decreases in taxes.
When the government gives a dollar in tax cuts to a household, part of that dollar may be saved
rather than spent. The part of the dollar that is saved does not contribute to the aggregate demand
for goods and services. By contrast, when the government spends a dollar buying a good or
service, that dollar immediately and fully adds to aggregate demand.| Critics of spending hikes
argue that tax cuts can expand both aggregate demand and aggregate supply and that hasty
increases in government spending may lead to wasteful public projects.Tax cuts increase aggregate

Coco Chanel created a fashion that began to grow rapidly in the 1920 s. She created suits and

dried at 80 В°C in an oven for 24 h and then ground.
1.3Measurements of hydrogels
1.3.1Measurement of swelling ratio Q
After sieving the dried hydrogels using a 40 mesh sieve, a certain amount of sample was
transferred to a tea bag, which was further immersed in deionized water for 48 h at room
temperature. After the swelling equilibrium was achieved, the samples were weighed. The swelling
ratio (Q) was calculated by the following formula.
Q = (W1 W0)/W0 where W0 and W1 are the mass of the dry and swollen hydrogels, respectively.
1.3.2FTIR analysis of hydrogels
The corn straws, pretreated corn straws, and hydrogels were ground into fine powders, mixed with
KBr, and pressed into pellets for FTIR analysis. FTIR spectra were scanned in the wavelength range
400 4,000 cm 1.
1.3.3Measuring the swelling dynamics of hydrogels
A certain amount of hydrogels was transferred to a tea bag. Then, the tea bag was immersed into
deionized water. The mass was measured at regular intervals until it become constant.
1.3.4Salt resistance of hydrogels
NaCl, CaCl2, and AlCl3 solutions with different concentrations were prepared. The dry hydrogel
samples with the same mass were immersed in salt solutions. Salt resistance was determined by the
swelling ratio when the hydrogel

A Lifespan Assessment Of An Adolescent Who Is...
This report is a lifespan assessment of an adolescent who is transitioning into a young adult. AO
is a patient who is 19 years of age and was assessed by an Alverno College student nurse who uses
the Gordon s Functional Health Patterns as a guide in gathering subjective information. Since the
patient can fall in one or both age groups of adolescenceand young adulthood, information for both
patterns have been included. Once data is collected, a diagnoses can be determined in any areas of
concern.
Developmental Stage
According to Erikson s stages of development, AO could be categorized into two different stages.
The first stage is identity vs. role confusion, this is where an adolescent is trying to find out who
they are and what their place is in life. If their search turns out to be challenging, it could lead to
a crisis where a person almost has to step backwards, revaluate to be able to move forward again.
AO positively identified with this stage because she is enrolled in college and working hard to be
successful in her classes as a future nurse. AO did not show any signs of current role confusion.
There is no evidence of tattoos or piercings, delinquent behavior or apparent changes in her mental
health status that lead one to believe that a crisis is present (Edelman, Kudzma Mandle, 2014, p.
522).
The second stage is intimacy versus isolation, this is where a young adult would begin to form
relationships with people on a more intimate level.

Ww1 Propaganda Essay
While deception tactics began to rise during World War I, these tactics became more sophisticated
and more crucial during the Second World War. Both sides, the Axis, and the Allies had offices
dedicated explicitly to deception and propaganda, giving a more official and efficient style to the
deception campaigns that would emanate.
The first example of Rankin in Curtain Up when in 1929, Germany put on a false raid to obtain a
justifiable rationale to invade Poland. SS Sturmbannfuhrer (Major) Alfred Helmut Naujocks and his
team of Germans, dressed in Polish regalia pretended to be Polish rebels praising independent
Poland and denouncing Hitler and the Nazis (Rankin, 2009). By broadcasting a propaganda report,
that was supposedly interrupted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
White s propaganda had kernels of truth which allowed the story to spread easier including field
tests of burning oil on water, flamethrowers, and burned Germans (Rankin, 2009). This
propaganda was so successful in terrifying German soldiers that it helped convince leaders to
change their plans of attack from a naval invasion to an air campaign. This propaganda form of
MISO is an example of Grey propaganda where the source may or may not be correctly
identified, and the accuracy of the information is uncertain, (Guth, 2008). Grey propaganda used
by the British falsely propagated their ability to set fire to the Channel, using the stories that
soldiers passed along to each other as well as mocking pamphlets and radio broadcasts as a
medium (Rankin, 2009). This method worked because the British used framing against the enemy
soldiers. Mislead into thinking the most dangerous path would be across the English Channel by
presenting a lot of evidence that the British had the capabilities to annihilate them before reaching
the coast. Propaganda allows for the principle of framing because the constant bombardment of
information will enable people to draw conclusions based on their experiences. The British can set
fire to the Channel and burn any ships or boats sent across (Tversky and Kahneman,

Biography Of Dentro De Nuestras De Diarias
Dentro de nuestras actividades diarias estГЎ la resoluciГіn de conflictos; los conflictos son parte de
nuestra vida y de nuestras relaciones interpersonales. El conflicto puede ser, segГєn la Real
Academia EspaГ±ola (n.d.): Un apuro, problema, cuestiГіn, una lucha, pelea, o simplemente una
situaciГіn desgraciada y de difГcil salida.
[VГЎsquez RamГrez, W. (n.d.)] una situaciГіn conflictiva, actitudes conflictivas y
comportamientos conflictivos.

Disney Conglomerates
A conglomerate is a large company that owns several media products. The conglomerate I have
chosen is Disney/ ABC. headquartered in Burbank, California. It is one of the largest media
conglomerates in the world in terms of revenue. Disney was founded on October 16, 1923, by
Walt and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio (SEGD 2014). Widely known and
bringing in a lot of revenue, this company continues to grow. The Walt DisneyCompany, also
known as Disney, is a multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate. The history of
Disney dates back all the way back to 1923. The main character of this company is a mouse,
Mickey Mouse. Disney is the world s largest media conglomerate, its assets include movies,
television, publishing,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are implications regarding production and distribution of media content to a public
audience. In the media, as in any industry, big corporations play a vital role, but so do small,
emerging ones. When you lose small businesses, you lose big ideas. People who own their own
businesses are their own bosses. They are independent thinkers. They know they can t compete
by imitating the big guys they have to in novate, so they re less obsessed with earnings than they
are with ideas. They are quicker to seize on new technologies and new product ideas. They steal
market share from the big companies, spurring them to adopt new approaches. This process
promotes competition, which leads to higher product and service quality, more jobs, and greater
wealth. It s called capitalism (Ted Turner). Today, the only way for media companies to survive is
to own everything up and down the media chain (Ted Turner). I believe that conglomerates thrive
better when they aren t in the hands of many, because the idea of the company can get changed
into something it was not intended to be. With more people in the ownership, ideas can flow and
possibly broaden the company, but I feel that too many people are unnecessary. In the sense of
large companies, many advisors may be needed. The

  • 3. Healing In Bleachers, By Messina Neely Healing is a long process, and the first step in this process is forgiveness. Before one can forgive other people for various grievances, one has to forgive oneself. In John Grisham s Bleachers Neely Crenshaw has a lifetime of built up frustration and regret. No matter what he does or how far away from his hometown he moves, he can never forget what occurred there. Neely was once Messina s golden boy All American quarterback before a knee injury in college ended his promising football career. He once had a lovely, caring, upright girlfriend before he tossed her to the sideline for a more seductive, promiscuous vixen. Eddie Rake, Neely s high school football coach, was once his idol who he was always trying to please, before a halftime altercation in the state title game led to Coach Rake slapping Neely, and Neely in retaliation knocking Coach Rake out cold. However, fifteen years later Coach Rake is on his death bed and Neely is drawn back to Messina, along with all of Rake s former players, to pay tribute to the legendary coach. Once back in Messina Neely finally confronts the demons he has been trying to escape his whole life, and forgive himself in the process. Messina lives, breathes,... In biochemistry, it can be used to determine enzyme catalyzed reactions, whereas in clinical application, it is used to examine blood and tissues. This quantitative method of analysis can also be used in engineering, physics,etc.[2] METHODOLOGY The experiment was initially done by preparing standard solutions of different volumes of Cu(II) stock solution of known concentration including a blank solution composed of ammonia and water. Each volume of the solution was placed in volumetric flasks, and in each flask, same amount of concentrated NH3 was added. The same procedures were also done in the preparation of the diluted unknown Cu(II) solution. Addition of ammonia caused the formation of deeper blue copper ammonia complex which allowed the spectrophotometer to detect the solution easily due to increase in its absorbance. The formation of the complex is shown by the following chemical reaction: Cu2+ + 4NH3 [Cu(NH3)4]2+ (4) A deficiency in ammonia in the solution would cause the copper ammonia complex to turn into its hydrated form which would eventually alter the accuracy of the data obtained because of its

  • 7. Why Is Collegiality A Virtue Trust The vast majority of employees in organization are hard working, ethical, competent and honest. There should be an atmosphere of trust among partners and between the management of the firm and its partners. The necessity of rules and procedures should be carefully examined, and there should be a distinct bias against controls on partner behaviour. Communicated expectations are more effective generally than proscriptions. In a milieu of trust, however, there must be the capacity to sanction behaviour amounting to a lack of trust. Moreover, a trusting firm does not have to be a firm which is sleep walking. However, it must have the capability to identify and deal with those partners who are not worthy of trust. 10. Business Development An important technique in establishing and maintaining a collegial environment is to have team marketing focusing on particular industries or clients. This approach can be effective if those devoting time and effort to the approach are credited with the success. Why is collegiality a Virtue? From society s perspective, collegiality is an instrumental value, it is good in promoting professional aims, by sharing commitment with others, supports personal efforts to act responsibly in concert with colleagues and strengthen one s motivation to live up to professional standards. From professionals perspectives, collegiality is intrinsically valuable. It defines as professional community as composed of many individuals jointly pursuing the public good. Collegiality, like most virtues, can be misused and distorted, such as when peers appeal to it in urging silence about corporate corruption. It is not an excuse or justification for shielding irresponsible conduct. Collegiality can degenerate into mere group interest, rather than shared devotion to the public good. • 9. Essay On Women In Beowulf In a few literature classics of the Anglo Saxon period, the absence of the female figure in this society is very noticeable. On various pieces, it is obvious that the portrayal of how a woman was nothing without her lord or husband, and how women merely depended on a male figure to be part of the society or even accept it. Throughout the years, society has been changing for women to what it is today. A womantoday does not need a man to be recognized as successful, strong and independent in society. In Beowulf there is evidence of six women in the entire story while, if we count the male figures we can easily figure out the prominence of a patriarchal system. Starting with Grendel s mother, seeking for revenge on her son s death, gives an example of a motherly figure fighting for her youngster. Another example relating to the argument are Wealhtheow and Hygd. Wealhtheow and Hygd are both described as this perfectly lady like of excellent heart girls, whose main job is nothing more than to pass around a cup of mead to the warriors and knights, just basically be hostesses. It clouds the joys of your life and makes you see your future as drudgery. Thankfully, there is hope when it comes to treating depression, beyond medication and counseling (although these are both vital tools of recovery.) This additional therapy is known as art therapy. What is Art Therapy? Painting or drawing a masterpiece is not what art therapy is about. It s about healing through expressive means. Why it Works So Well: Art provides a pleasure factor not often associated with basic counseling. It doesn t just encourage communication alone. It provides an outlet for expression. An outlet that is less intimidating for many people than using word. To better understand the concept, consider the graffiti that is present in many cities. These drawings or tags are drawn as a way for the individual to make their mark. In the same way, art therapy allows those who are suffering from depression to express what is going on inside. A quick internet search will present a number of genres that are considered nonfiction. From historical eyewitness accounts, to creative nonfiction, to biographies, there are many genres that people generally accept as factual. Memoirs and biographies are usually counted on the more reliable side. Thus, there exist a number of sub genrethat fall under the title of nonfiction . However, take a look past the surface, a number of problems with this stance arise. In all truth, the brains of human beings are the only source behind the facts of biographies and memoirs. Managerial economics provides answers to these questions. In order to answer pertinent questions, managerial economics applies economic theories, tools, and techniques to administrative and business decision making. The first step in the decision making process is to collect relevant economic data carefully and to organize the economic information contained in data collected in such a way as to establish a clear basis for managerial decisions. Rabbi Weiner Summary Criterion C: Summary of Significant Findings The interview with Rabbi Weiner proved to be very illuminating, and quite a bit about the meaning of ethics in Jewish monotheism was displayed. When asked why Jews place such importance on following the halakha, Rabbi Weiner said, Ethics is the core of Judaism because of the Covenant that Abraham made with God. It s not enough simply to believe in God, one must act in a moral manner in order to truly be considered ethical from a Jewish perspective. (Weiner). The origin of ethical monotheism for all of the Abrahamic religions lies in Judaism, where Adonai is the one true God. While having a strong belief in God, as Rabbi Weiner said, certainly deepens the Jewish faith from a religious perspective, the halakha is what actually serves as the ethical center of Judaism. The hypothesis based off of early research predicted that this would be the case, but the interview with the Rabbi as well as an examination of the Tanakh confirmed this position. It is with Catholicism, however, that the significant findings contrast somewhat with the hypothesis. From the research, it was predicted that Catholics would generally place more importance on faith as their holy center than on law, which is indeed the case. Jesus Christ died for the sins of humanity, and it takes more than just ethical action to repay that debt. Yet, in the hypothesis, the role that Biblical ethics has on the Catholic faith was not foreseen. Catholics view Baptism as one of the most ethical actions a person can undertake in their lifetime; and, though this sacrament is indeed a matter of Biblical law rather than faith, it still greatly informs their monotheistic beliefs. Though Catholicism definitely places more value on a firm conviction in God than Judaism, it cannot simply be written off as a religion with no need for ethical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. The Apology And Phaedo By Plato Essay The Apology and Phaedo by Plato are two different books describing what is like to be a philosopher per Socrates believes. These two books take place in two different scenarios in Socrates life, The Apology takes place in a court room where Socrates is to defend himself from false charges brought to him by Meletus who is acting as the prosecutor. Phaedo, on the other hand, takes place in a prison cell post judgment on the day of Socratesexecution. Hence, The Apology and Phaedo appeared to display different philosophies: The Apology, Platopresented Socrates as wise for he knows that he knows nothing, hence he is seeking wisdom by questioning those who think they know more or something, just to find that they don t know anything, therefore Socrates makes it his duty to make them look ignorant/stupid. Phaedo, Socrates focuses primarily on death and the immortality of the soul, hence he is seeking knowledge by devoting his final hours picking the minds of his friends to explain the role of a philosopher, which is preparing for death. Consequently, these two views are really the same, yet presented differently by Socrates, for in one he is defending his freedom and life using philosophy, hence he has only done what the Gods expected of him. From the other view, he resigned to his fate, for as a philosopher, he knows his soul will finally become liberated from the evils and limitations of the body to come to its divine state. Most people do not think about the resources it took to produce, transport, and prepare the food they throw away. Our food waste is not actually just trash; it is the key to human survival. Ordinary consumers can change the future with one small action: to stop wasting food. Actions at the individual level can decrease food waste and feed those in need. At the time he was overweight and decided to implement this study into his own life and ended up losing a significant amount of weight. This led him to promoting the diet in his own series of books. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second phase of the Atkins diet is Ongoing Weight Loss where you slowly increase the amount of carbohydrates in your diet. Essentially you add 5 grams of carbs to your diet every week until you reach a point where you aren t gaining or losing weight (Atkins, 2002). The third phase of the diet is Pre Maintenance in which carbohydrate intake is slightly increased again. However, this time the increase is significant enough that the body is no longer in a state of ketosis. The key here is to find a maximum level of carbohydrates you can consume without gaining weight (Atkins, 2002). Lifetime Maintenance is the final phase of the Atkins diet. In this phase you are expected to carry out the habits acquired from the previous phases. If you find yourself gaining weight again then you can revert back to one of the previous phases. This is a permanent lifestyle you need to adapt in order to carry on with the progress you made so far (Atkins, 2002). The main reason we are limiting carbohydrates in the first place is to control the release of insulin by the pancreas. Carbohydrates are responsible for raising insulin levels, which in turn promotes glucose uptake by the cells. On the other hand, insulin initiates a pathway that inhibits fat breakdown and at the same time promotes synthesis of fatty acid, cholesterol, and glycogen. Therefore, elevated levels of insulin are associated with cardiovascular disease. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Discretionary Access Control (DAC) Discretionary Access Control (DAC) Computer security is important in every organization. It covers several areas such as locking the computer room and the computer itself, protecting login accounts with passwords, encrypting network communication lines and use of file protection among others. Whitman (2011) points out that computer system security ensures that your computer does what it is supposed to, even if the users do what they should not do. Discretionary Access Control (DAC) is a type of access controls that provides protection to the files in a computer system. This type of control restricts access to files based on the identity of users or groups which they belong. It is discretionary and lets you tell the computer system who can have access to your files and therefore you can specify the type of access allowed. For example, you can allow anyone to read a particular file in the system, but allow only you to be able to change it. According to Whitman (2011), this type of control access is rarely used with high security systems because someone with permission to access files is able to pass that permission either directly or indirectly on to any other person. This capability poses a threat to the security of the files and can be dangerous to a high security system. An organization that requires high security, but the operating system only supports DAC, can compensate with the use of an Access Control List (ACL). • 41. A Lifespan Assessment Of An Adolescent Who Is... This report is a lifespan assessment of an adolescent who is transitioning into a young adult. AO is a patient who is 19 years of age and was assessed by an Alverno College student nurse who uses the Gordon s Functional Health Patterns as a guide in gathering subjective information. Since the patient can fall in one or both age groups of adolescenceand young adulthood, information for both patterns have been included. Once data is collected, a diagnoses can be determined in any areas of concern. Developmental Stage According to Erikson s stages of development, AO could be categorized into two different stages. The first stage is identity vs. role confusion, this is where an adolescent is trying to find out who they are and what their place is in life. If their search turns out to be challenging, it could lead to a crisis where a person almost has to step backwards, revaluate to be able to move forward again. AO positively identified with this stage because she is enrolled in college and working hard to be successful in her classes as a future nurse. AO did not show any signs of current role confusion. There is no evidence of tattoos or piercings, delinquent behavior or apparent changes in her mental health status that lead one to believe that a crisis is present (Edelman, Kudzma Mandle, 2014, p. 522). The second stage is intimacy versus isolation, this is where a young adult would begin to form relationships with people on a more intimate level. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Ww1 Propaganda Essay While deception tactics began to rise during World War I, these tactics became more sophisticated and more crucial during the Second World War. Both sides, the Axis, and the Allies had offices dedicated explicitly to deception and propaganda, giving a more official and efficient style to the deception campaigns that would emanate. The first example of Rankin in Curtain Up when in 1929, Germany put on a false raid to obtain a justifiable rationale to invade Poland. SS Sturmbannfuhrer (Major) Alfred Helmut Naujocks and his team of Germans, dressed in Polish regalia pretended to be Polish rebels praising independent Poland and denouncing Hitler and the Nazis (Rankin, 2009). By broadcasting a propaganda report, that was supposedly interrupted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... White s propaganda had kernels of truth which allowed the story to spread easier including field tests of burning oil on water, flamethrowers, and burned Germans (Rankin, 2009). This propaganda was so successful in terrifying German soldiers that it helped convince leaders to change their plans of attack from a naval invasion to an air campaign. This propaganda form of MISO is an example of Grey propaganda where the source may or may not be correctly identified, and the accuracy of the information is uncertain, (Guth, 2008). Grey propaganda used by the British falsely propagated their ability to set fire to the Channel, using the stories that soldiers passed along to each other as well as mocking pamphlets and radio broadcasts as a medium (Rankin, 2009). This method worked because the British used framing against the enemy soldiers. Mislead into thinking the most dangerous path would be across the English Channel by presenting a lot of evidence that the British had the capabilities to annihilate them before reaching the coast. Propaganda allows for the principle of framing because the constant bombardment of information will enable people to draw conclusions based on their experiences. The British can set fire to the Channel and burn any ships or boats sent across (Tversky and Kahneman, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
There are implications regarding production and distribution of media content to a public audience. In the media, as in any industry, big corporations play a vital role, but so do small, emerging ones. When you lose small businesses, you lose big ideas. People who own their own businesses are their own bosses. They are independent thinkers. They know they can t compete by imitating the big guys they have to in novate, so they re less obsessed with earnings than they are with ideas. They are quicker to seize on new technologies and new product ideas. They steal market share from the big companies, spurring them to adopt new approaches. This process promotes competition, which leads to higher product and service quality, more jobs, and greater wealth. It s called capitalism (Ted Turner). Today, the only way for media companies to survive is to own everything up and down the media chain (Ted Turner). I believe that conglomerates thrive better when they aren t in the hands of many, because the idea of the company can get changed into something it was not intended to be. With more people in the ownership, ideas can flow and possibly broaden the company, but I feel that too many people are unnecessary. In the sense of large companies, many advisors may be needed.
