Walter Elias Disney, known by many as the man behind the mouse , was one of the most known
people of the 20th century. He was both the dreamer and the do er who brought his imagination
to life through his determination and hard work. Walt Disney became the next Leonardo DaVinci
a significant, genuine artist that impacted society at heart. Disney was full of creativity and lived
to share it with the world through his works of art. Although he is not alive today, he continues to
impact our lives through the memories he left behind. Walter Elias Disney was born on the 5th of
December, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois. He was raised by his Father Elias Disney, who was from Irish
and Canadian descent, and by his Mother Flora Call Disney, who... Show more content on

He did not have many responsibilities as a teenager; therefore, he had the motivation to discover
beyond his imagination. Walt discovered his first movie in Marceline s Main Street. He there saw
the recreation of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ in black and white. During Walt s
careless years he was able to discover much about himself. He began to develop love and
admiration towards nature, wildlife, family and community. Additionally, he discovered love for
acting and performing. There wasn t much he could do about it, but he took advantage of his
opportunity. During school he would entertain his friends by imitating his all time hero, Charlie
Chaplin (Walt Disney, Biography). Without much of an economic advantage, he continued to
flourish in his talent for performing. At night, when his parents were asleep, Walt would sneak
out and perform skits on local theaters. As Walt realized many things, Walt found out that he was
born to make people smile and make the world a better place for good (disney.go.com). That is
why during the fall of 1918 he attempted to enlist in the military. However, due to being only
sixteen years of age, he was rejected, but that did not stop him. Instead, he joined the Red Cross
and was sent overseas to France where he spent a year driving an ambulance and chauffeuring Red
Cross officials (thebiographychannel.co.uk). You would expect an ambulance

Jeremiah To Psalms
The book of Jeremiah contains various modes of composition, ranging from oracles of judgment
and salvation to biological narratives and laments. Amongst these, the laments of Jeremiah have a
profound literary impact since it uses poetry and prose to illustrate God s punishment to Judah for
disobedience paralleling with Jeremiah s persecutionby close friends and family. However, this type
of literary literature is also used in Psalms and even in Job. The comparison of laments within
Jeremiah to Psalms exhibits a structure of certain elements, which are invocation, complaint against
God, cry for help, vilification of one s enemies, an affirmation of confidence, recognition of divine
response and elements of praise and thanksgiving. Jeremiah s... Show more content on

Let me see your retribution upon them for to you I have committed my cause. (Jeremiah 20:12)
Jeremiah knows that not only will God protect Jeremiah but this form of protection will come
through God s justice against Jeremiah s enemies through the destruction of Judah. The sixth
lament ends with element of praise and thanksgiving to God for God s reign of justice and
righteousness on those who are oppressed. (Jeremiah 20:13) The juxtaposition of verse 13
displaying this hymanic element after an acknowledgment of divine response in verse 12 can
essential or redundant in this lament. It can be vital in terms that Jeremiah reminds the reader
and himself of the history God has redeemed his people, especially during times of oppression.
After all, Jeremiah s Mosaic theology emphasizes particularly the traditions of exodus from
Egypt, the wilderness wandering and many others. Therefore, it would make sense that
Jeremiah would end with praise and thanksgiving that God has saved those who are oppressed
before and so God will do the same for Jeremiah as well. Reflecting on the elements of preceding
laments, one can say this verse is not needed. The other five laments of Jeremiah usually ended
with confession of sins or acknowledgement of God s response. Therefore, a possible explanation
is the editor of this book must have felt the need to praise God

Film Editing And The Advancement Of Digital Technology
In today s world, film has made use of the advancement of digital technology to help with editing.
Innovations in film technology has without a doubt shaped the film industry into what is it today.
This has given filmmakers great advantages from cameras to sound recording devices, to editing.
Because of this technology everything has gone digital making it not only easier to access, easier
to edit with (computers, software etc.), but it also makes it more affordable.
Film Editing is the art of assembling shots or multiple images into sequences. The editor or
editors are usually given a pile of all the footage shot in the course of a day or several. This pile
contains various shots that are called raw footage. Raw footage just means there is unedited
shots that has had nothing done to it yet and its ready to be used. The task of the editor/editors
are to create an overall finished film by combining and selecting these different shots and
placing them into an organized sequence of events. Every single time there is a change from
one image to another is called an edit. The art of filmmaking and editing has been around for
decade s. For example, the world s first films that were produced were in black and white (Film
History). But, even to make a black and white film, several inventions were required. These
inventions not only needed to be able to record videos but to also store them.
The basic rules of film editing were first established in the silent era, which was also known

Family Systems Theories In The Other Woman
Tangled Web: The Beginning
Glistening spider webs interlaced between the members of the family anthropomorphizes the
reactions that occur within a family system. Reverberation befalls the entire web when one person
interacts with another. Throughout the films, The Other woman, directed by Don Roos, scenes
demonstrate the relations of Family Systems Theories such as differentiation of self, family origin
and destabilization of the old structure, Circumplex Model, content and abstract process, power
control, and triangulation.
Enmeshed Reactivity
Emotional blowups are witnessed repetitively throughout the film due to enmeshed relationships.
Emilia (Natalie Portman) demonstrates impulsive, emotional reactions especially when William
brings up her deceased child Isabelle. The Essentials of Family Therapy, states that differentiation
is the capacity to think and reflect, to not respond automatically to emotional pressure (Nichols,
2014, p. 71). She was unable to separate her emotions about the loss of her child. Emilia s
impulsive, emotional responses William shut up after he recommended they sell the baby s things
is a powerful example of the web strands being intertangled.
Furthermore, the Bowen Center for the Study of Family communicates that, people with a poorly
differentiated self depend so heavily on the acceptance and approval of others that either they
quickly adjust what they think, say, and do to please others or they dogmatically proclaim what
others should be

The Impact of Divorce on Children and Family Dynamics Essays
Introduction: In the last two decades divorce has increased substantially leaving couples single
and families broken. Divorce is the reality for many families as there is an increase in divorce
rates, cohabitation rates, and the number of children raised in step and single marital families.
Divorce cannot be overlooked as it negatively affects and impacts youngsters for the rest of their
lives. Although it is the decision between two parents s children are hurt the most in the process.
The concept of divorceis extremely difficult for children to understand as there are many
unanswered questions and uncertainties. Will my mom or dad remarry and who will I live with?

Education and Dramatic Transformations:
In recent decades the family institution has undergone a dramatic transformation focusing on
increased divorce rates, cohabitation rates, and the number of children raised in step and single
marital families (Amato, 2000; Bumpass Lu, 2000; Graefe Lichter, 1999). Due to the increase of
divorce rates children move more frequently and deal with additional family transitions throughout
their childhood (Brown, 2006). As these changes slowly increase, about 40% of kids who are born
to wedded, two biological parent families have a higher chance of parental divorce prior to
reaching adulthood(Amato,2000). In addition, these children will likely experience a multitude of
family disruptions and transitions as parents decide to remarry and progress with new partners. The
family atmospheres during these times are incredibly detrimental to the growth and development of
these children (Sun Li, 2009). Research studies show that parental divorce can compromise
educational success for their children. Children in two parent families have noticeably higher test
scores than children who are in single parent families and also had lower chances of graduating
from high school (Sun Li, 2001). One of the rationalizations for the academic difficulty in divorced

Consumerism Woodhouse Summary
In consumerism Woodhouse starts off by telling his audience what consumerism is. Woodhouse
also talks about the benefits of it such as stimulating the economy and facilitating peoples liberties
to shape their identities and cultures . This is followed by the downside of consumerism that it is a
manipulated and environmentally destructive habit leading to too many units of stuff being
designed, produced, advertised, sold, and discarded . This brief introduction really helps lay the
foundation for the rest of the article and foreshadows what will be talked about.
Woodhouse then goes into the agents . The agents are the ones that are actually responsible for
producing consumerism. These are the chemists that created harmful synthetic pesticide, product
designers that create new and attractive products, and civil engineers that build roads that create
urban sprawl as just a few examples. Without this group of people there would be no production of a

The means is just the technological advancement of today s world. Woodhouse uses examples of
means such as research, marketing, and technology in general. This is a crucial point in
consumerism because without the means then the agents wouldn t have the capability to mass
produce items. This nonhuman technology also gives agents a certain level of calculability, and
predictably, unprecedented to others.
Woodhouse also explains that without sites then businesses and governments wouldn t have
anywhere to test their ideas or develop new ideas. Fast food restaurants, military research and
development, and college universities are all places of research. College universities are a good
example because they get government grant money to test new theories and technologies. If
anything should prove successful during research though it is almost guaranteed that it will be
mass produced and used to help stimulate the economy creating tax

Reality Boy Theme
Through the beginning to the middle of November, I read the book Reality Boy by A.S. King.
Reality Boy is about Gerald Faust, a kid in highschool who had his whole childhood screwed up
because he was on reality TV. His mom thought he was retarded, his sister constantly beats him
up, and the whole world laughed in amusement as they watched him take craps everywhere. The
book was interesting because he started out as a kid known as The Crapper and he was able to
turn his life around for the better. The theme of this novel is that even though you have
experienced awful things in your life and has been screwed inside and out, you can still overcome
the obstacles that stand in your way of success. For example, on page 260, A.S. King writes... Show

There is a lot of adult themed topics throughout the book like sex, cursing, and many others. A
young reader, for example, my sister who is eight years old, shouldn t be reading this because
nobody wants an eight year old kid going around and yelling F*K THIS S**T! (King 104). I am
pretty sure you get the picture with the other topics. I recommend that librarians should put a
warning label or a parental advisory sign on it or something because this book should not be in
our library and especially an elementary s library. Speaking of this book, I give it an 8 out of
10. It is interesting and funny at some points, but I just didn t like how his entire childhood was
ruined because of his family. I really wish that there were less cursing in it because most of it is
unnecessary. But, if this book was in a series, I would definitely read it. In conclusion, Reality
Boy by A.S. King is an interesting but inappropriate boo, but for me it was a pleasure to read it. I
liked ho Gerald, whose life was turned upside down, turned it rightside up and made it better for
himself and for everyone around

Significant variations in the prevalence between world regions suggest that environmental factors,
such as climate, diet, obesity, smoking rates, and microbial exposure could influence the
development of AD.
4 3 1. Microbial exposure
Recent studies highlighted the impact of skin microbiota on AD because microbiota has been
revealed to be involved both in the homeostasis and pathogenic conditions of the skin (Naik et al.,
2012). In AD patients, temporal dybiosis dominated by Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) during
disease flares was reported (Kong et al., 2012; LEYDEN, MARPLES, KLIGMAN, 1974). The skin

Pros And Cons Of Male Birth Control
The first birth control pill was developed in the 1960s, and women became the primary target for

women. According, to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, some of the birth control
being present includes IUDs, injectable, the pill, patch, rings, diaphragm, female condoms, sponge,
spermicide, and fertility awareness based methods. Within time I believe many people were also

The male birth control may possibly deliver a contraception substitute for many intentions. Elaine
Lissner founded the Male Contraceptive Information Project (MCIP) in the late 1980 s to track
progress and raise awareness of male contraception.
If you have 10 percent (or even 1 percent of men using contraceptive method, you can make a
huge difference in unintended pregnancy, says Lissner. You also get a lot of women out from
under a lot of side effects from hormonal methods (Mack 2011). In my own person opinion I
believe the millennial generation is more welcoming to having positive forms of male
contraceptive presented for the near feature. These days equal responsibilities are being
implemented by more couples as times have changed the outcomes are now affecting the birth
control marketplace. There has been foundation funding RISUG (aka Vasa Gel) developing in
hopes for this long term reversible male birth control option (Watson and Conger). The new gel
form contraceptive that profoundly lowers sperm count is currently in progress. The procedure
involves making a small incision in each scrotum through which the small vas deferens duct is
pulled for the direct injections. So far RISUG has proven to be effective, safe and reversible with
a second injection (Mack 2011). Also there are other methods that are also being developed such as
Plant based pill which are non hormonal options, dry orgasm pill based on medications that restrict
sperm from becoming semen thus orgasm occurs but ejaculation does not. Some moderate heat or
ultrasound on the testicles is noninvasive and relatively simple ways of inhibiting sperm production

Spinal Immobilisation Essay
Spinal Immobilisation: A Literature Review
A review of the literature regarding spinal immobilisation has been undertaken using databases
for PubMed, MEDLINE, CINAHL, OVID and Cochrane EBM. Reviews were electronically
searched using the subject headings spinal injuries , spinal immobilisation and management of
spinal injuries . The results generated by the search were limited to English language articles and
reviewed for relevance to the topic. The aim of this literature review is to compare and contrast the
views on spinal immobilisation and to achieve a better knowledge of evidence based practice.

According to Vickery (2001) however, the spinal board is considered to be the gold standard for
spinal immobilisation during the pre hospital phase of trauma management. For some patients,
effective spinal immobilisation is beneficial and can also be vital in preventing the devastating
effects of cord damage however it has been suggested that for many the excessive use of this
preventative measure may not be prudent or necessary. It has been estimated that over 50% of
trauma patients with no complaint of neck or back pain were transported with full spinal
immobilisation (McHugh Taylor 1998). Inappropriate spinal immobilisation may lead to patients
experiencing unnecessary pain, skin ulceration, aspiration and respiratory compromise, which in
turn may lead to further unnecessary procedures, a longer hospital stay which then incurs
increasing costs to the National Health Service (Kwan, Bunn Roberts, 2001). Shooman
Rushambuza (2009) report that immobilisation is a crucial part of the management of a trauma
patient. They believe that if the mechanism of injury is uncertain, the patient should remain
immobilised until further imaging even if there are no symptoms of spinal instability after log
rolling. However, in a recent study by Pandie, Shepherd Lamont (2010) they concluded that on its

Elie Wiesel Trials And Tribulations In Night
How does Wiesel use his journey of trials and tribulations to present ideas? In the literary memoir
Night written by Elie Wiesel, he informs the readers about his journey of sufferings in a Nazi
concentration camp during the Holocaust, he used his painful and awful hardships from the
Holocaust and exposes that this is what takes place in World Wars. He used the point of view of
Eliezer as narrator to relay the autobiographical events from his perspective and always speak in
the first person. As Eliezer s viewpoint is limited to his own experience, and so the tone of Night
is intimate, subjective and hugely personal. Elie s main objective is to describe to the readers the

Wiesel wants us to think through the key ideas of his memoir which are the importance of
family; Eliezer s effort to maintain faith in a compassionate God; silence; and inhumanity
toward other humans. Wiesel showed us at the start of the book that it is very important to stay
with your family as much as possible. For others, they hold on to the knowledge that their family
is safe. As Eliezer witness the horror of the concentration camps particularly the hideous killing
of babies and young children he deems that his God has been killed before his eyes. Elie does
not end believing in God, but shake off his faith that God is unconditionally just. He brings up
questions like: Does God deserve the praise of the Jews who are suffering? Is He a good God? Is
He completely indifferent to man s suffering? Elie have faith in that somebody would need to
speak out, and that somebody was him. Additional reason Night was written might have been for
Wiesel s personal voice to be recognised. Anybody who has suffered a trauma on the level of

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The paper addresses the concept of business ethics and law of Corporate Social Responsibility. The
study of behaviour of the organisations should include how responsible it is towards the community
and its employees, customers and investors.
The terms business ethics and corporate social responsibility are often used interchangeably but
they are quite different in practice.
Business ethics in essence, tells about the moral principles followed by the members of an
organisation. It is wide and every individual is expected to adopt these principles because he/she is
part of the organisation. Business ethics are often called best practices followed by an organisation.
These practices are designed by the business and underpins the every decision taken by the
organisation. For example, companies should not engage in bribery, should not unlawfully use

How Climate Change Affected Canada
Climate change happens when long term weather patterns are refined. It can be identified in the
changes of temperature, winds, precipitation, and other forms of natural processes. This can occur
through many different factors, one being through human activity. Global warming is one of the
main scales used to measure climatechange. For life to be able to continue on Earth, the sun is
required. Solar radiation is reflected back into space, however, small amounts of radiation get
trapped in the Earth s atmosphere, causing a rise of temperature. The atmosphere is composed of
delicate gases, the most important gas being Carbon Dioxide. A main component on Earth is

Gender Inequality For Women And Women s Development
While the case of Rwanda illustrates that a liberal, women focused post conflict approach will not
lead to substantial advancement of women s status as it does not tackle gender inequalities, I
continue to argue that the post conflict moment itself is not sufficient for tackling the roots of
gender inequalities that prevent women from experiencing full empowerment and inter sphere
equality. First, there is a need to understand why women face increased levels of violencein the post
conflict period, as this pattern goes beyond Rwanda (Moran, 2010:266). In explaining why there is

Despite the existence of post conflict programs aimed at reintegrating soldiers back into regular
society, notably SSR and DDR processes, Fionnuala NГ AolГЎin asserts that these programs are
overly physical in nature and thus do not address the negative masculine mindset built into soldiers.
Specifically criticizing DDR, she contends that militant attitudes, behavior and beliefs are not in any
sense undermined or addressed by a formal disarmament process . She continues to affirm that the
disarmament of weapons is not the disarmament of minds and I verge that even an approach
concerned with the mindset of combatants after the fact would not be enough to disembed the
militarization that takes place and forms a militant mindset during conflict (NГ AolГЎin,
2008:1067). Therefore violence towards women in the post conflict space is a result of the
continued presence of militant attitudes and beliefs after a conflict and women who seek to
augment their status meet with a backlash against their attempt to redefine their rights , as they are
challenging the masculine social order reinforced through militarization (Meintjes et al, 2001:12).
In conclusion, given the prevalence of militarization, particularly militarized masculinities, in the
post conflict space, it is an inopportune time for women to achieve an advancement in their rights

Understanding Counter Reformation Essay
In order to understand the Counter Reformation one must consider the political factors and
motivators behind them as well as the belief factors when examining clashes with the Catholic
Church. The Catholic Church during 16th century experienced a reformation that was both
politically and belief driven. The Catholic Reformation also known as the Counter Reformation
allowed the church to clearly define its position, eliminate unchristian practices and examine its role
in world.

They saw the church and its leadership filled with corruption and greed. The Renaissance popes
who led the church were not spiritual leaders. Those at the top of the clergy were wealthy and
lived lavish lifestyles. They indulged in nepotism, power politics and patronage. Furthermore, the
priests at the bottom were poor and unable to administer to the multiple parishes in their charge.
Thus it can be said that Counter Reformation was a response to a need for clarity in purpose.
But also, one can also say that the Counter Reformation was a natural and necessary response to the
Protestant reformation. Catholic reform was slow until after the Protestant Revolution began to
make serious in roads upon the ancient faith. A variety of Protestant sects had made their ways into
almost half the nations of the Europe by the 16th century. Catholics were dismayed by the great
increase in unorthodoxy. Many claim that the Counter Reformation was initiated to win back lost

Yellowstone National Park has many unique ecological features that make it a prime habitat for
many species. Rivers and lakes cover about five percent of the park, creating water sources for
many species. Forest comprises 80 percent of the land area, which is often habitat for
megafauna, and the rest of the land is mostly grassland (Russell et al. 2004). The park sits on the
Yellowstone Plateau, which has an average elevation of about 8,000 feet above sea level. Due to
these different features, Yellowstone National Park is home to a diverse ecosystem. The park is
also widely considered to be the best megafauna habitat in the lower 48 states (Ripple and
Beschta, 2012). This habitat is home to nearly 60 species of mammals including bison, bears, elk,
deer, pronghorn, mountain lions, and wolves. These mammals and many others, along with the
parks flora, create the ecosystem that is enjoyed every year by visitors from all over the world.

Danielle Edelman s The Importance Of Trust
Building trust in a business is vitally important to the success and how the business is viewed by its

The Rights Of Women And Education
A sufficient education is something that Westerner s like myself, have taken for granted for a
long time. It s easy to, in all honesty, because we have been raised in a society in which education
has been held at the utmost importance. In the United States women are held at an equal level with
men, we ve fought for this sense of equality for several years and unfortunately, not all women
across the world have had that same success. Women from other countries do not have half of the
rights that we do here in the United States, and this is something that we seem to never really think
about. Saudi Arabiais just one of the many countries around the world in which the women do not
have as many rights as men do. Being a feminist at heart with a hunger for education, it piqued
my interest to research the rights of women and education in Saudi Arabia. If I m being honest, I
had expected it to be much worse than it is, yet it could be so much better at the same time. Saudi
women should have every right to educate themselves in any aspect they want, and though they
have fought their way to gaining some leverage, there are still necessary steps that need to be
taken. Saudi Arabia is a country in Southeast Asia with a population of approximately twenty
seven million people. Of that twenty seven million people, it is estimated that 30% of them are
migrant workers. ( Saudi Arabia Demographics Profile 2014. ) The sex ratio of this country is
about 1.21 men for every 1 woman, with the

This is similar to what Martin Luther King Jr has also stated in Letters from Birmingham Jail , We

One who claims any gender other than male or female would be considered taboo or highly
unusual by our society. Biological sex is often thought to determine one s gender identity.
Though sex and gender align for the mass of our population, there is a minority group that does
not feel that they belong to either male or female genders. To understand gender fluidity, one
must recognize that sometimes a person s gender and sex do not align. A person may not feel
that their biological sex reflects who they are, they may feel uncomfortable with the expectations
and roles placed on them due to their sex. These gender roles are created by social expectations of
our western society. Gender roles are merely social constructs, and if one does not want to conform
to societies conjectures placed on them due to their biological sex, they should have the freedom to
non conform.
We must protest and express our discontent with society in order to make a change. Martin Luther
King Jr. carefully and patiently explained his philosophy and what he wanted from the masses.
He wanted support and for everyone to understand his plan and what he wanted to get out of the
protests. This can be applied to the contemporary issue of opposing gender fluidity by comparing
the issues and what should be done about them. If gender advocates followed in the footsteps of
Martin Luther King Jr. and work with the delicacy that King did, we would be

VISUAL STREAM MAPPING 1.1 Introduction Lean manufacturing is a production practice that
considers the expenditure of resources for any goal other than the creation of value for the end

The Battle of Midway Essay examples
Battle of Midway was a major naval battle, widely regarded as the most important one of the
Pacific Campaign of World War II.[3] It took place from June 4 to 7, 1942, approximately one
month after the Battle of the Coral Sea, five months after the Japanese capture of Wake Island, and
exactly six months to the day after Japan s attack on Pearl Harbor. The United States Navy
decisively defeated a Japanese attack against Midway Atoll.
Both sides sustained significant losses. Four Japanese aircraft carriers and a heavy cruiser were
sunk in exchange for one American aircraft carrier and a destroyer. The heavy losses permanently
weakened the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN), in particular the four fleet carriers and over 200

did consider Midway vital; after the battle, establishment of a U.S. submarine base on Midway
extended submarine range 2,400 miles (3,900 km). An airstrip on Midway served as a forward
staging point for bomber attacks on Wake Island.[14] Midway Atoll, several months before the
battle. Eastern Island (with the airfield) is in the foreground, and the larger Sand Island is in the
background to the west.
Typical of Japanese naval planning during the Second World War, Yamamoto s battle plan was
quite complex.[15] Additionally, his designs were predicated on optimistic intelligence
information suggesting USS Enterprise and USS Hornet, forming Task Force 16, were the only
carriers available to the U.S. Pacific Fleet at the time. USS Lexington had been sunk and USS
Yorktown severely damaged (and believed by the Japanese to have been sunk) at the Battle of the
Coral Sea just a month earlier. The Japanese were also aware that USS Saratoga was undergoing
repairs on the West Coast after taking torpedo damage from a submarine.
More important, however, was Yamamoto s belief that the Americans had been demoralized by
their frequent defeats during the preceding six months. Yamamoto felt deception would be required
to lure the U.S. fleet into a fatally compromised situation.[16] To this end, he dispersed his forces
so that their full extent (particularly his battleships) would be unlikely to be discovered by the
Americans prior to battle. However, his

Emotional or Behavioral Disorders
Most youth and adolescents with emotional or behavioral disorders (EBD) are noticed by the
people around them. It s much easier to identify disordered behaviors than it is to define and

behavioral, and interpersonal challenges that can adversely affect not only themselves, but
teachers, peers, parents, and others who are involved with the child is some capacity (Gresham,

Students who exhibit misbehaviors when they enter school may become better or worse relying on
how they are handled in the classroom. A student s temperamentcan interact with the behaviors of
teachers in contributing to EBD and corresponding problems. There is a danger in classrooms that a
student with behavioral problems will become trapped in a spiral of negative interactions, in which
they become increasingly irritating to and irritated by teachers (Hallahan, Kauffman, Paige, 2009).
Teachers must consider their academic instruction, expectations, and approaches to behavior
management when considering how they might be contributing to a student s problematic behavior.
Careful classroom management by teachers can lower the risk of EBD associated with difficult
temperament. The fourth question of this section is what are the primary implications of biological
causes of EBD for teachers? The primary implications of biological causes of EBD for teachers are
genetics, parental neglect or abuse, malnutrition, and neurological damage. Genetic predisposition,
neglect, malnutrition, and brain injury are all more likely to be major contributors to disruptive
behavior when they are connected with inconsistent behavior management at school. Biological and

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bv Vs Sky Tv
British Satellite Broadcasting VS Sky Television
Both the companies at the start go critically for the sake of having a good competition with each
other. BSB was the consortium established in 1986. It was given the exclusive license to be the
first UK s DBS channel operator. As the 1986 was the starting point so that proved critical enough
to BSB and therefore it suffered losses.
By getting a 15 years authority by IBA to commence its services on three DBS channels, all BSB
considered was a mega plan to take a start with 400,000 satellites in its first year s broadcasting and
2,000,000 in 1992, and 6,000,000 by 1995. But when it came to the reality, the table was turned

And by the merger these could also have been saved. Here, the merger is suggested as the best
solution because it has more advantages than the disadvantages. As another solution, we can also
see towards a scenario in which BSB could use the more sophisticated technology but with less
cost and with less other costs like depreciation, sub managing, satellites, advertising etc. and this all
would be possible only if it had the good management like its competitor, and BSB could have
changed wholly the nature of interaction if it had created some obstacles in the launch of the Sky
Television. But when we come to its after effects we see that there shall be definitely a reaction
caused by prevention of launching by the Sky Television and whereby the strict cold war between
them could get a start that would not be viable for both of the powers.
In 1990, BSB was enjoying the great market share but this all got tainted with the sudden arrival of
the Sky Television in the market. When both companies were in the market BSB was actually
losing the money mainly due to its high capital investment. SKY benefited a lot from the market
monopoly. Overall Sky had a dominant strategy but for BSB it was more complicated since the
only way to be profitable was to become a

The employer of Mary paid her $4,000 for the transfer of furniture for her recent relocation at
Brisbane. The amount is an exempt benefit for Mary because section 61B, Div 13 of Fringe

The employer of Mary has also provided her a loan of $500,000 at a reduced rate of only 4%.
When an employer grants a loan to an employee at a rate lower than market rate then section 16,
Division 4 of Fringe Benefit Tax Assessment Act 1986 requires to pay tax on loan fringe benefit
at the difference of benchmark rate and payment rate. In accordance with Australian Tax Office
(ATO), the current benchmark rate is 5.45% (Deloitte, 2016). The taxable value will be gross up
by Type 2 benefit rate of 1.9608 because we assume that the employer is not obliged to get a refund
on this amount. It will give a taxable value of $14,216 ($7,250 x 1.9608) and when this amount is

Carlos Salazar Pursuit Of Happiness
Carlos Salazar begins Pursuit of Happiness by creating an idea of the different kinds of happiness
that exist. Salazar states in his thesis that, Happiness is temporarily most of the time but love is the
only happiness that can last the longest (1). Salazar has a roadmap included in his thesis but
throughout his essay he tends to steer off his roadmap. Salazar s main points consist of the
temporary happinessthat drugs, sleep, sex, and love contain. Although Salazar includes a
roadmap in his thesis and also clearly connects his topic to Drop City, Salazar needs to stay on
his roadmap, come up with a counter argument, and organize his body paragraphs. Including a
roadmap in a thesis is great but what is even more great is an essay that is composed by
following the roadmap that is set in a thesis. Salazar s claim is that love is a happiness that lasts
the longest in comparison to any other kind of happiness. Even though he does include reasoning
of his claim in his paragraphs, in some sections of his writing, Salazar seems to actually make the
claim that in some cases a person s interpretation of happiness is not actually happiness. They all
make people happy but is it worth being happy for the things that they do or are they just wasting
time trying to be happy (Salazar 5).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think Salazar should focus on just one topic per paragraph. For example, in Paragraph two,
Salazar begins by explaining how sleep is a happiness that actually does not benefit a person if
they are sleeping to much (2) and then he quickly changes his topic to drugs being beneficial only
temporarily (2). Instead of suddenly changing topics, Salazar can create separate paragraphs for
each different topic. By creating more paragraphs for each topic instead of combining multiple
topics into one paragraph Salazar will help his readers understand his writing in a more facile

Memories And The Formation Of Reality
In film, flashbacks are interruptions that take the narrative back in time from the current point in
the story. They are often used to provide background and context to recount current events of a
narrative filling in crucial backstories. In its basic form, the flashback is introduced when a
presented image dissolves to another image of the past, which can be either as a story being told or
a subjective memory. (Turim, pg. 1) For example, dream sequences and memories are methods used
to present flashbacks. They become visual representation to the audience as an act of remembering
past experiences of reality. Imagination also plays an important role in shaping the mindand the
story similar to memories and the formation of reality. Imagination is usually integrated into
animationas an artistic creation to express the artists ideas or memory. But where does the use of
imagination and memories stop? By examining memory represented in animation and film, through
Bartlett s theory of schema, we can see how the film develops an active organized method to
recognize reality through memory. This paper is examining five films based on the theme of
memory, thus arguing that imagination does not distorted memory in animation, but create a role
as a form of embellishment for the film to help memory. Fredrick Bartlett is a British psychologist
from Cambridge University, based on his book Remembering (1932) that focused on how people
made sense of what was being remembered. The

How Architecture Can Be Applied to Plato s Definition of...
This essay will be demonstrating how architecture can be applied to Plato s definition of the
ideal person as Kalo k agatho. This essay will be examining the Temple of Zeus at Olympia, the
Parthenon, the Erechtheion and the Temple to Apollo at Bassae. The first monument this essay
will be discussing is the Temple to Zeus at Olympia. The Temple to Zeus was constructed between
C. 470 to 450 BCE, having this temple belong to the Early Classical Period. The Temple of Zeus
had the typical features of the Doric Order, a perisytle, with a rule that the number of columns on
the sides should be one more than double on the front and back (thus the perisytle is 6 X 13), a
pronaos, a cella and an opithodomos. The two columns between the anta in the pronaos and the
opithodomos align with the columns along the front and back of the temple. The temple was
constructed in limestone as well as marble for the roof tiles and the sculptures. Over the
entrances of the pronaos and opisthodomos, there were metopes of the 12 labours of Herakles,
athla 1 6 over the opithodomos (west) and athla 7 12 over the cella (East). One of the main
features that this temple is good to look at is because of the pediments. The west pediment depicts
the Battle of Lapiths and Centaurs, while the east pediment depictions the horse race of Pelops and
Oinomaos. As this is the Temple to Zeus, the figure of Zeus as in the center of the East Pediment,

Chartism was a movement that emerged by the working class to achieve parliamentary
democracy. They wanted a voice through democratic participation, and they wanted social and
economic reform. The movement existed from 1838 1858 and they got their name from the
People s Charter of 1838. Chartism evolved for economic and political reasons, such as feeling
betrayed by the middle class, and the Whig government adopting policies that the working class
viewed as a betrayal. The fall of Chartismcan be attributed to a divided in the groups interests, an
improvement in economic conditions, and the violence that developed during the movement. Their
goals were commendable, but their strategies were inadequate. Although the Chartists failed to
reach their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the reasons for their failure can be attributed to the divide in their methods and structure.
Some of the Chartists believed in peace and peaceful protesting, while others believed in
violence and its power to overcome the the rich and powerful that were running parliament. The
movement began with peaceful petitions and the first petition in July 1839, had over one
million signatures on it. When parliament rejected the petition 235 to 46 some of the Chartist
members turned to violence. A man named John Frost led approximately one thousand armed
members in the Newport Rising. When things turned violent many people were killed of
injured, and supporters fled because they were in fear of loosing jobs, or possibly even getting
killed. William Lovett, who was one of the founders of the movement, left the movement
because of the violence that was now being demonstrated by the Chartists. Economic interests
were also improving in the 1840 s and because the economic conditions were on the rise food and
goods were not as expensive. Because of this people were slightly less concerned about the
economy leading to more loss of support for the Chartists. There were also discrepancies on their
third and final petition in 1848. They had lied about the amount of signatures on the petition, and
some of the names listed on the petition were said to be forged or listed more than once. After that
third petition the Chartists were mocked in the newspapers for the lies and forgeries. Some people
were not taking them serious anymore and again, they lost more support. Arguably, the main
causes of their fall was the violence, as well as the rise in economy that made the Chartists lose
steam. Even though they were not successful at that time, in later years some of the Chartist ideas
were incorporated into the Reform Acts of 1867 and

John Keats s Ode To A Nightingale And Romantic Expressivism
Christopher Bell
September 24, 2017
ENGL 204
Dr. Callis
John Keats s Ode to a Nightingale and Romantic Expressivism John Keats s Ode to a Nightingale
is one of the most recognized and studied pieces of poetry from the 19th century, with the critic
Allen Tate even going on to say that this ode at least tries to say everything that a poet can say
(Vendler). Keats was an educated writer and knew very well what he was talking about and was
able to do amazing things with a simple string of words. Keats s piece is written in the time of
Romantic Expressivism and every word that he writes inside of Ode to a Nightingale accurately
portrays the themes and concepts of this time period briefness of our time on earth, mortality, a
different and sometimes confusing look at the world around us (whether through our own eyes or
some force on us), nature and all of its beauty, and the words that contain the strength to transport
the reader to another place or time. In order to understand Keats s Ode to a Nightingale and how
it connects to Romantic Expressivism, we first need to understand what Romantic Expressivism
is and how it was created. The last major poet to write in the 18th Century was Alexander Pope.
He believed over was built into the universe inside of the great chain of being. He believed there
was a natural order stretching down from God and the angels to the lowest form of life on earth.
After him, writers, such as Keats, came along to question this thought and

characteristic is presented. The poem My Last Duchess by Robert Browning, has multiple
examples of the Duke being arrogant. In the third line it says, That piece a wonder, now: FrГЎ
Pandolf s hands; the Duke is bragging about being able to have that man paint the painting. The
fifth line of the poem Will t please you sit and look at her? The Duke is bragging about how
pretty the painting is and wants to show it off. In line thirty three, My gift of a nine hundred year
old name, the Duke is yet again bragging about having such a well known and respected name.

Texas Tax Rebates
There is no doubt that Texas s state government is one of the most conservative in the nation on
both an economic and social level. As a governing body Texas has fought to deregulate itself on the
bases that a weak government translates to strong personal liberties. The political culture of the
state is apparent to all who live there. However, in recent history Texashas proven to be a solid
competitor when offering tax rebates to filmmakers and videogame creators who produce their
content in the state. These rebates refund some of the production costs and are widely considered to
be beneficial to employment within the state s entertainment and tourism industry (Weed). Sadly, in
2015 Texas lawmakers cut the previously impressive budget for... Show more content on

The argument comes from the fiscally conservative mindset, arguing that using taxpayer money for
non necessities, like film is wasteful. However, this view overlooks that the state s rebate
program exists as an investment that the state will eventually make profit on in the form of
economic growth through employment. The legislation providing such rebates likely would
never have existed in the first place if it were not economically beneficial to the state.
Additionally, providing rebates is more likely to attract production of the benefit films that have
tighter budgets and have trouble breaking even, rather than the stereotypical big budget films,
meaning that rebates could mean the difference of a production company moving forward with
riskier films or not. The Hollywood welfare argument is a politically expedient one because of
the way Hollywood is viewed politically in present day American culture. Many on America s
rightwing view Hollywood as a big elitist organization with a liberal political agenda. Rhetoric like
Hollywood welfare truly is a representation of the divisive nature of modern times. Schimmel writes
in an essay regarding rhetoric that language affects our perception and understanding of social and
political realities, irrespective of how accurately it reflects them. Conservative state politicians have
capitalized on the preconditioned distrust conservatives have toward Hollywood paired with the
negative connotations that the political right has associated with welfare has led to film tax
incentives taking major blows, especially in predominantly conservative

Pierre Bourdieu Cultural Capital
The Social World
Continuous assessment 1.1 Sociological Cinema Exercise
Cultural Capital, a video by Sociology Live! (2015), embodies the many aspects that define an
individual or group s standing within a society. The video begins with an introduction of a french
theorist, Pierre Bourdieu, who developed the theory of Cultural Capital . His theory suggests that
cultural capital is the cultural knowledge that serves as a currency which helps one navigate culture,
hence, alter our experience and opportunities available to us. The video then outlines the various
elements that make up cultural capital, including material objects (apparel, cars, personal
belongings) and symbolic elements (tastes, manners, skills and credentials). It then focuses on
another view of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This view reversed, is also visible with lower class people and low cultural capital. The rising
issue outlined in this video and capitalism as a whole, is that people in a society are grouped in a
certain hierarchical manner according to their class, status and power. Alternatively, Marx, another
renown sociologist defined the capitalist system primarily on modes of production, separating the
society with proletariats (workers who perform a certain task to obtain an orderly income) and
capitalists (industries or companies who earn money through profit, rent and interest). Marx also
believed that inheritance down the generations is a head start for the newer generations to build a
higher financial capital as capitalists would have built up a larger inheritance to pass down
compared to proletariats (Van Krieken et al. pp.212, 213). Both Marx and aspects of Bourdieu s
theories of capitalism indicate that wealth and privilege are primarily contributed to define a group
or individuals hierarchical standing within their

The Causes Of Teen Suicide
Fifteen minutes fifty nine seconds then sixteen minutes hits, and another teen commits suicide due
to something going on in their life. It is crazy that in just sixteen minutes another teen commits
suicide. What would possibly be causing teen to take their life this quick? Could it be drug abuse,
depression, stress, peer pressure, or whatever else you could think of? Teen suicideis the second
leading cause of death of teens in the US. Parents wonder why teens commit suicide, and the worst
part is that they will never know why it happened. The guilt fills them to the brim, and it makes the
parents feel like they could have done something if they knew what the problem was. With the rates
of teen suicide rising the questions are growing on why they took their life, however the main
reason that teens commit suicide are because of peer pressure and emotional neglect. (just a little
more hardcore on the argument)
Teenage suicide is mainly caused through social media, so social media sites to have more
intense and more controlled filters. 4,500 teens commit suicide every month due to
cyberbullying (Cyberbullying Hotline). This is because there is someone out there that is so
low that they want to bully someone else. With social media playing a huge roll today, there is
constantly drama or bullying going on. Social media says that they filter out cyberbullying on
their sites, but anyone can go to any social media platform and look at many bullying posts.
Most of teen suicides are committed with firearms with 60 % (Kids Health). This is because
most teens have some sort of access to a firearm making it the easiest way to commit suicide. All
firearms should be locked in a safe and unloaded so that the risk of a teen suicide will be
lessened. Hamm and her colleagues did not find consistent links between being bullied and self
harm across the studies (Stephanie Pappas). However, cyberbullying helps to lead onto suicide
because teens cannot even be in the comfort of the own homes without being bullied. A stricter
filter should be added to social media sites so that the number of teen suicides will drop due to
cyberbullying. Teens have always suffered from cyberbullying and suicide, but with the new filters

He began to develop love and admiration towards nature, wildlife, family and community. Additionally, he discovered love for acting and performing. There wasn t much he could do about it, but he took advantage of his opportunity. During school he would entertain his friends by imitating his all time hero, Charlie Chaplin (Walt Disney, Biography). Without much of an economic advantage, he continued to flourish in his talent for performing. At night, when his parents were asleep, Walt would sneak out and perform skits on local theaters. • 3. Jeremiah To Psalms The book of Jeremiah contains various modes of composition, ranging from oracles of judgment and salvation to biological narratives and laments. Amongst these, the laments of Jeremiah have a profound literary impact since it uses poetry and prose to illustrate God s punishment to Judah for disobedience paralleling with Jeremiah s persecutionby close friends and family. However, this type of literary literature is also used in Psalms and even in Job. The comparison of laments within Jeremiah to Psalms exhibits a structure of certain elements, which are invocation, complaint against God, cry for help, vilification of one s enemies, an affirmation of confidence, recognition of divine response and elements of praise and thanksgiving. (Jeremiah 20:12) Jeremiah knows that not only will God protect Jeremiah but this form of protection will come through God s justice against Jeremiah s enemies through the destruction of Judah. The sixth lament ends with element of praise and thanksgiving to God for God s reign of justice and righteousness on those who are oppressed. (Jeremiah 20:13) The juxtaposition of verse 13 displaying this hymanic element after an acknowledgment of divine response in verse 12 can essential or redundant in this lament. It can be vital in terms that Jeremiah reminds the reader and himself of the history God has redeemed his people, especially during times of oppression. After all, Jeremiah s Mosaic theology emphasizes particularly the traditions of exodus from Egypt, the wilderness wandering and many others. Therefore, it would make sense that Jeremiah would end with praise and thanksgiving that God has saved those who are oppressed before and so God will do the same for Jeremiah as well. Reflecting on the elements of preceding laments, one can say this verse is not needed. The other five laments of Jeremiah usually ended with confession of sins or acknowledgement of God s response. • 4. Film Editing And The Advancement Of Digital Technology In today s world, film has made use of the advancement of digital technology to help with editing. Innovations in film technology has without a doubt shaped the film industry into what is it today. This has given filmmakers great advantages from cameras to sound recording devices, to editing. Because of this technology everything has gone digital making it not only easier to access, easier to edit with (computers, software etc.), but it also makes it more affordable. Film Editing is the art of assembling shots or multiple images into sequences. The editor or editors are usually given a pile of all the footage shot in the course of a day or several. This pile contains various shots that are called raw footage. Raw footage just means there is unedited shots that has had nothing done to it yet and its ready to be used. The task of the editor/editors are to create an overall finished film by combining and selecting these different shots and placing them into an organized sequence of events. Every single time there is a change from one image to another is called an edit. The art of filmmaking and editing has been around for decade s. For example, the world s first films that were produced were in black and white (Film History). But, even to make a black and white film, several inventions were required. These inventions not only needed to be able to record videos but to also store them. The basic rules of film editing were first established in the silent era, which was also known ... Family Systems Theories In The Other Woman Tangled Web: The Beginning Glistening spider webs interlaced between the members of the family anthropomorphizes the reactions that occur within a family system. Throughout the films, The Other woman, directed by Don Roos, scenes demonstrate the relations of Family Systems Theories such as differentiation of self, family origin and destabilization of the old structure, Circumplex Model, content and abstract process, power control, and triangulation. Enmeshed Reactivity Emotional blowups are witnessed repetitively throughout the film due to enmeshed relationships. Emilia (Natalie Portman) demonstrates impulsive, emotional reactions especially when William brings up her deceased child Isabelle. The Essentials of Family Therapy, states that differentiation is the capacity to think and reflect, to not respond automatically to emotional pressure (Nichols, 2014, p. 71). She was unable to separate her emotions about the loss of her child. Emilia s impulsive, emotional responses William shut up after he recommended they sell the baby s things is a powerful example of the web strands being intertangled. Education and Dramatic Transformations: In recent decades the family institution has undergone a dramatic transformation focusing on increased divorce rates, cohabitation rates, and the number of children raised in step and single marital families (Amato, 2000; Bumpass Lu, 2000; Graefe Lichter, 1999). Due to the increase of divorce rates children move more frequently and deal with additional family transitions throughout their childhood (Brown, 2006). As these changes slowly increase, about 40% of kids who are born to wedded, two biological parent families have a higher chance of parental divorce prior to reaching adulthood(Amato,2000). In addition, these children will likely experience a multitude of family disruptions and transitions as parents decide to remarry and progress with new partners. The family atmospheres during these times are incredibly detrimental to the growth and development of these children (Sun Li, 2009). Research studies show that parental divorce can compromise educational success for their children. Children in two parent families have noticeably higher test scores than children who are in single parent families and also had lower chances of graduating from high school (Sun Li, 2001). This brief introduction really helps lay the foundation for the rest of the article and foreshadows what will be talked about. Woodhouse then goes into the agents . The agents are the ones that are actually responsible for producing consumerism. First, there is a need to understand why women face increased levels of violencein the post conflict period, as this pattern goes beyond Rwanda (Moran, 2010:266). It s easy to, in all honesty, because we have been raised in a society in which education has been held at the utmost importance. In the United States women are held at an equal level with men, we ve fought for this sense of equality for several years and unfortunately, not all women across the world have had that same success. Women from other countries do not have half of the rights that we do here in the United States, and this is something that we seem to never really think about. Saudi Arabiais just one of the many countries around the world in which the women do not have as many rights as men do. Being a feminist at heart with a hunger for education, it piqued my interest to research the rights of women and education in Saudi Arabia. If I m being honest, I had expected it to be much worse than it is, yet it could be so much better at the same time. Saudi women should have every right to educate themselves in any aspect they want, and though they have fought their way to gaining some leverage, there are still necessary steps that need to be taken. Saudi Arabia is a country in Southeast Asia with a population of approximately twenty seven million people. Of that twenty seven million people, it is estimated that 30% of them are migrant workers. Biological sex is often thought to determine one s gender identity. Though sex and gender align for the mass of our population, there is a minority group that does not feel that they belong to either male or female genders. To understand gender fluidity, one must recognize that sometimes a person s gender and sex do not align. A person may not feel that their biological sex reflects who they are, they may feel uncomfortable with the expectations and roles placed on them due to their sex. These gender roles are created by social expectations of our western society. Gender roles are merely social constructs, and if one does not want to conform to societies conjectures placed on them due to their biological sex, they should have the freedom to non conform. We must protest and express our discontent with society in order to make a change. Martin Luther King Jr. carefully and patiently explained his philosophy and what he wanted from the masses. He wanted support and for everyone to understand his plan and what he wanted to get out of the protests. The Battle of Midway Essay examples Battle of Midway was a major naval battle, widely regarded as the most important one of the Pacific Campaign of World War II.[3] It took place from June 4 to 7, 1942, approximately one month after the Battle of the Coral Sea, five months after the Japanese capture of Wake Island, and exactly six months to the day after Japan s attack on Pearl Harbor. The United States Navy decisively defeated a Japanese attack against Midway Atoll. Both sides sustained significant losses. Eastern Island (with the airfield) is in the foreground, and the larger Sand Island is in the background to the west. Typical of Japanese naval planning during the Second World War, Yamamoto s battle plan was quite complex.[15] Additionally, his designs were predicated on optimistic intelligence information suggesting USS Enterprise and USS Hornet, forming Task Force 16, were the only carriers available to the U.S. Pacific Fleet at the time. USS Lexington had been sunk and USS Yorktown severely damaged (and believed by the Japanese to have been sunk) at the Battle of the Coral Sea just a month earlier. The Japanese were also aware that USS Saratoga was undergoing repairs on the West Coast after taking torpedo damage from a submarine. More important, however, was Yamamoto s belief that the Americans had been demoralized by their frequent defeats during the preceding six months. Yamamoto felt deception would be required to lure the U.S. fleet into a fatally compromised situation.[16] To this end, he dispersed his forces so that their full extent (particularly his battleships) would be unlikely to be discovered by the Americans prior to battle. They are often used to provide background and context to recount current events of a narrative filling in crucial backstories. In its basic form, the flashback is introduced when a presented image dissolves to another image of the past, which can be either as a story being told or a subjective memory. The Temple of Zeus had the typical features of the Doric Order, a perisytle, with a rule that the number of columns on the sides should be one more than double on the front and back (thus the perisytle is 6 X 13), a pronaos, a cella and an opithodomos. The movement began with peaceful petitions and the first petition in July 1839, had over one million signatures on it. When parliament rejected the petition 235 to 46 some of the Chartist members turned to violence. A man named John Frost led approximately one thousand armed members in the Newport Rising. When things turned violent many people were killed of injured, and supporters fled because they were in fear of loosing jobs, or possibly even getting killed. William Lovett, who was one of the founders of the movement, left the movement because of the violence that was now being demonstrated by the Chartists. Economic interests were also improving in the 1840 s and because the economic conditions were on the rise food and goods were not as expensive. Because of this people were slightly less concerned about the economy leading to more loss of support for the Chartists. There were also discrepancies on their third and final petition in 1848. Keats s piece is written in the time of Romantic Expressivism and every word that he writes inside of Ode to a Nightingale accurately portrays the themes and concepts of this time period briefness of our time on earth, mortality, a different and sometimes confusing look at the world around us (whether through our own eyes or some force on us), nature and all of its beauty, and the words that contain the strength to transport the reader to another place or time. In order to understand Keats s Ode to a Nightingale and how it connects to Romantic Expressivism, we first need to understand what Romantic Expressivism is and how it was created. The last major poet to write in the 18th Century was Alexander Pope. He believed over was built into the universe inside of the great chain of being. He believed there was a natural order stretching down from God and the angels to the lowest form of life on earth. After him, writers, such as Keats, came along to question this thought and ... • 43. Texas Tax Rebates There is no doubt that Texas s state government is one of the most conservative in the nation on both an economic and social level. As a governing body Texas has fought to deregulate itself on the bases that a weak government translates to strong personal liberties. The political culture of the state is apparent to all who live there. However, in recent history Texashas proven to be a solid competitor when offering tax rebates to filmmakers and videogame creators who produce their content in the state. These rebates refund some of the production costs and are widely considered to be beneficial to employment within the state s entertainment and tourism industry (Weed). Sadly, in 2015 Texas lawmakers cut the previously impressive budget for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The argument comes from the fiscally conservative mindset, arguing that using taxpayer money for non necessities, like film is wasteful. However, this view overlooks that the state s rebate program exists as an investment that the state will eventually make profit on in the form of economic growth through employment. The legislation providing such rebates likely would never have existed in the first place if it were not economically beneficial to the state. Additionally, providing rebates is more likely to attract production of the benefit films that have tighter budgets and have trouble breaking even, rather than the stereotypical big budget films, meaning that rebates could mean the difference of a production company moving forward with riskier films or not. The Hollywood welfare argument is a politically expedient one because of the way Hollywood is viewed politically in present day American culture. Many on America s rightwing view Hollywood as a big elitist organization with a liberal political agenda. Rhetoric like Hollywood welfare truly is a representation of the divisive nature of modern times. Schimmel writes in an essay regarding rhetoric that language affects our perception and understanding of social and political realities, irrespective of how accurately it reflects them. Conservative state politicians have capitalized on the preconditioned distrust conservatives have toward Hollywood paired with the negative connotations that the political right has associated with welfare has led to film tax incentives taking major blows, especially in predominantly conservative ... • 44. Pierre Bourdieu Cultural Capital The Social World Continuous assessment 1.1 Sociological Cinema Exercise Cultural Capital, a video by Sociology Live! (2015), embodies the many aspects that define an individual or group s standing within a society. The video begins with an introduction of a french theorist, Pierre Bourdieu, who developed the theory of Cultural Capital . His theory suggests that cultural capital is the cultural knowledge that serves as a currency which helps one navigate culture, hence, alter our experience and opportunities available to us. The video then outlines the various elements that make up cultural capital, including material objects (apparel, cars, personal belongings) and symbolic elements (tastes, manners, skills and credentials). It then focuses on another view of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This view reversed, is also visible with lower class people and low cultural capital. The rising issue outlined in this video and capitalism as a whole, is that people in a society are grouped in a certain hierarchical manner according to their class, status and power. Alternatively, Marx, another renown sociologist defined the capitalist system primarily on modes of production, separating the society with proletariats (workers who perform a certain task to obtain an orderly income) and capitalists (industries or companies who earn money through profit, rent and interest). Marx also believed that inheritance down the generations is a head start for the newer generations to build a higher financial capital as capitalists would have built up a larger inheritance to pass down compared to proletariats (Van Krieken et al. pp.212, 213). Both Marx and aspects of Bourdieu s theories of capitalism indicate that wealth and privilege are primarily contributed to define a group or individuals hierarchical standing within their ... • 45. The Causes Of Teen Suicide Fifteen minutes fifty nine seconds then sixteen minutes hits, and another teen commits suicide due to something going on in their life. It is crazy that in just sixteen minutes another teen commits suicide. What would possibly be causing teen to take their life this quick? Could it be drug abuse, depression, stress, peer pressure, or whatever else you could think of? Teen suicideis the second leading cause of death of teens in the US. Parents wonder why teens commit suicide, and the worst part is that they will never know why it happened. The guilt fills them to the brim, and it makes the parents feel like they could have done something if they knew what the problem was. With the rates of teen suicide rising the questions are growing on why they took their life, however the main reason that teens commit suicide are because of peer pressure and emotional neglect. (just a little more hardcore on the argument) Teenage suicide is mainly caused through social media, so social media sites to have more intense and more controlled filters. 4,500 teens commit suicide every month due to cyberbullying (Cyberbullying Hotline). This is because there is someone out there that is so low that they want to bully someone else. With social media playing a huge roll today, there is constantly drama or bullying going on. Social media says that they filter out cyberbullying on their sites, but anyone can go to any social media platform and look at many bullying posts. Most of teen suicides are committed with firearms with 60 % (Kids Health). This is because most teens have some sort of access to a firearm making it the easiest way to commit suicide. All firearms should be locked in a safe and unloaded so that the risk of a teen suicide will be lessened. Hamm and her colleagues did not find consistent links between being bullied and self harm across the studies (Stephanie Pappas). However, cyberbullying helps to lead onto suicide because teens cannot even be in the comfort of the own homes without being bullied. A stricter filter should be added to social media sites so that the number of teen suicides will drop due to cyberbullying. Teens have always suffered from cyberbullying and suicide, but with the new filters the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
