This culture was primarily white, male dominated. If you did not fit into such category, you
were oppressed. Slavery, in all aspects, is wrong. Just the idea of one human owning another
human is sickening. I do not think I would be able to have such a strong opinion without reading
literature. Literature, specifically Beloved, has taught me how abusive slave labor is on the
body, and how psychologically straining it is being constantly dehumanized. In the last

A lightbulb moment. My writing process has officially kicked off with the lightbulb moment.
This is the moment when the first line of my paper pops in my head or I have a sense of
direction in where the paper is headed. I can depend on the fact that this will not happen by
staring at a blinking cursor on a blank page. Some of my better lightbulb moments have been on
the bus heading home or the second I get into bed to go to sleep that is why my mom always
