Furthermore, a company is liable for its employees¡¦ actions concerning software piracy. If the
employee is caught, the company can be sued whether the firm is aware or not. Any infringers are held
liable under both criminal and civil law. Is there a penalty to employees or individuals who infringe?
Yes. When caught, the copyright owner ¡§may then choose between actual damages, which includes
the amount it has lost because of your infringement as well as any profits attributable to the
infringement, and statutory damages, which can be as much as $150,000 for each program copied¡¨

Symbolism In The Crucible
The most important word in The Crucible is lie , it is a word that is used very often that represents the
main theme of the book, intolerance, and creates the conflict in the whole play. The Crucible is a play
that is about a group of girls that lived in Salem at the time witchery was feared. Abigail lead girls to
the forest where they all danced around a fire, when they were found, the girls were brought to trial.
People started accusing the girls and other people around them of witchcraft. Along with accusations,
innocent people kept getting hanged because at the time, the court took someone s word for evidence
instead of actual proof. The word lie is very connected to one of the biggest themes of the book,
intolerance. In The Crucible ,

Battle of Vimy Ridge
Many countries have tried but failed to capture this area. Both French and British armies tired but
failed the Germans were too strong. This area was known as Vimy Ridge, which has many high hills
and was located in France. The Germans had captured this area since September 1914, the Germans
started to build artillery proof bunkers and trenches. Germanys had the advantage in every battle;
Germanys had their bases on top of the long hills. Which lead them to look down on their enemies,
which was easier for Germanys to kill their target. After countries failing to capture Vimy Ridge,
Canada decided they were going to attempt to fight for Vimy Ridge. For the first time Britain asked
for generals to lead Canada to victory for the battle of Vimy Ridge. Sir Julian Byng and Major Arthur
Currie were asked to lead the Canadian Military to win the battle of Vimy Ridge. After months of
practicing a strategy Canada was ready. April 1917, Canada went to battle with Germany for Vimy
Ridge. This became one of the most devastating battles ¬in Canadian history. Canadians should
remember that Vimy Ridge was not their triumph alone. British artillery and the elite 51st Highland
Division helped make victory possible (Desmond Morton, Significance of Vimy Ridge). Vimy Ridge
is considered a defining moment in Canadian history because, it was Canada s first time using a
general to plan tactics and strategy s, Canada was the only country that succeeded on capturing Vimy
Ridge, lastly all Canadian

After the September 11th terrorist attack on the World...
After the September 11th terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre by the Islamic radical group al
Qaeda and the 2001 Anthrax attacks on two senators and several news media offices, congress rushed
to pass the USA Patriot Act, which roughly is an Act to deter and punish acts of terrorism in the
United States and around the world, to enhance law enforcement investigatory tools, and for other
purposes. After these unrelated terrorist attacks happened within weeks of each other congress knew
reform legislature was needed. Many Historians such as Brett Rubio believe that the USA Patriot Act
infringed upon American s civil liberties while the U.S. Government more specifically the Justice
Department believed it was necessary course of action ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The act also gives federal judges the authority to issue search warrants that are valid in the judge s
district as well as outside the judge s jurisdiction. Before the Patriot Act, if an agent wanted to search a
suspect s email, he or she had to get a separate warrant in each district the subject s Internet Service
Provider (ISP) appeared in in order to search the suspect s email. As the FBI Director continued in his
speech to congress this frustrating and time consuming process can be averted without reducing
judicial oversight. (FOOTNOTE 1) The time that used to be spent seeking multiple warrant for each
district is now being used more productively to investigate terrorists, and preventing attacks from
happening. Thirdly the Patriot Act has allowed the Department of Justice agencies able to fight a 21st
century battle against terrorism with 21st century tools. The Patriot Act approves the usage of roving
wiretaps, court ordered pen registers, and trap and trace devices to track internet communications to
name a few. Focusing on the roving wiretaps Mueller said, it is standard operating procedure for
terrorists to rapidly change locations and switch cell phones to evade surveillance. (FOOTNOTE 1).
The roving wiretap allows to agents to track terrorists through several phones even if they are

Theme Of Hope In A Long Way Gone
Ishmael Beah was a boy from Sierra Leone who became a soldier in the country`s tragic civil war. He
spent nearly all his childhood running away from the war and eventually ended up joining the army.
During difficult times, Ishmael always held on to hope to continue his life s journey. In A Long Way
Gone, the theme is Always have hope , and is shown through Ishmael Beah s hope for a better life, to
find his family, and through the rehab staff`s hope for the boy soldiers.
Ishmael`s hope for a better life portrays one example of the theme Always have hope . The war was
very traumatic for everyone in the country. In fact, Ishmael joined the army at only 12 years old.
While fighting in the war, Ishmael recalled his family and the wisdom they left with him. For
example, Ishmael`s father said, If there is nothing good left in the destiny of a person he or she will
die (Beah54). Ishmael holds on to his father`s words as they comfort him and divert his attention away
from the war around him. He could`ve given up many times during the journey. Instead, Ishmael does
not lose hope and continues to move on because he knows that life will get better.
Another way the theme, Always have hope is shown in A Long Way Gone is through Ishmael`s hope
to find his family by keeping his will to live and the memories at the forefront. In Ishmael`s first
account of war, his village was overturned by the rebels and his family was split up. Therefore,
Ishmael and his friends were left to survive

The Similarities Between Spanish And Basque In Catalunya
If you encounter a native of France or Spain, he will most likely speak French or Spanish, as the
national language of his home country. However, a notable number of people speak a cultural
language as well. The salience of these languages on the north vs. south side of the Pyrenees
Mountains is substantial. Catalan, spoken in northeastern Spain and southeastern France, and Basque,
a language isolate spoken in northern Spain and southwestern France, are minority languages. Both
are distinct from Castilian Spanish with their own literature, people, and culture. While Basque and
Catalan are prevalent in their respective Spanish autonomous communities, the border of the Països
Catalans (Catalan Countries) and Euskal Herria (Basque ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Catalunya, Catalan is spoken fluently by 85% of the population with 97% claiming they understand
( Generalitat de Catalunya. 6). This mutual intelligibility between Spanish and Catalan suggests that
Catalan is only a dialect of Castilian. While many people would like to say this is true, and Spain
under Franco attempted to integrate Catalan into mainstream Spanish culture this way (Alguera 89),
the Catalan is a distinct language with it s own lexicon, literature, grammar rules, etc. It is a
mandatory subject for children in public education in the autonomous community ( Catalans. 109).
This contrasts the Basque Country where only 30% of the population is fully fluent in Basque
(Gobierno Vasco 17). Interestingly, although Basque is classified as a vulnerable language ( Data on
the Basque Language. ) and is spoken by less than a third of the population, the highest concentration
of speakers exists in young adults, where nearly 60% of people age 16 to 24 claim to be fluent
(Gobierno Vasco 21). I think this trend is interesting because one would think the older generations
had the higher percentage of Basque speakers, and the lowest among the younger age groups owing to
assimilation to Spanish language and culture. Although Basque and Catalan are recognized co official
languages and enjoy considerable clout and use, the situation is very different in France.
As the symbol for the national identity of the Basques, scholars have

SLAVERY
The burning issue that led to the disruption of the union, however, was the debate over the future of
slavery. That dispute led to secession, and secession brought about a war in which the Northern and
Western states and territories fought to preserve the Union, and the South fought to establish Southern
independence as a new confederation of states under its own constitution. In the late 18th century, the
abolitionist movement began in the north and the country began to divide over the issue between north
and south. In 1820, the Missouri Compromise banned slavery in all new western territories, which
southern states saw as a threat to the institution of slavery itself. With the election in 1860 of Abraham
Lincoln, who ran on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were those in the antislavery movement that proposed legislation that would actually purchase
the freedom of slaves, as had happened in Europe. This sort of solution would have ended slavery, but
done it without the violence and death that the Civil War brought.
In contrast, the abolitionist movement sought to end slavery by any means necessary. So, famous
abolitionist John Brown resorted to theft, and to attacks on federal officers, in his effort to end slavery.
The radical abolitionists had no interested in ending slavery in a peaceful or legal way. They wanted to
end slavery at the point of the bayonet.
SECESIONISM
Before the Civil War, the country was dividing between north and south. Issues included States Rights
but centered mostly on the issue of slavery, which was prominent in the south but increasingly banned
by northern states.
With the election in 1860 of Abraham Lincoln, who ran on a message of anti slavery, the Southern
states felt it was only a matter of time before the institution was outlawed completely. South Carolina
became the first state to officially secede from the United States on December 20, 1860. Four months
later, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana seceded as well. Later Virginia,
Arkansas, North Carolina, and Tennessee joined them, and soon afterward, the people of these states
elected Jefferson Davis as president of the newly formed

Crime And The Crime Rates
Many say that a person is a product of their environment and studies show that it is true. When living
in poverty, one steals to have what they physically want. Many factors contribute to those living in
poverty, such as unemployment, low or no education, race, and age median. Poverty and crime are
most related to those who reside in the slums, ghettos and hoods. Various crimes committed in poverty
areas may be organized crimes. The main focus of these organized crimes is drugs and drug
trafficking. A lot of areas remain in poverty because businesses do not want to build in the area
because of the crime rates. Children who are raised around violence and crime tend to commit more
crimes than those who do not see it growing up. Race is an issue when it comes to the punishment and
sentencing of the crime(s). When working in corporate, one embezzles and steals to get the money that
they want, but yet you do not hear too much about the white collar crimes. Another crime that is also
committed, but is rarely talked about is corporate crimes committed on us. The media plays a big part
in what we hear about because the human is fascinated by murder and crime so that is what is shown.
Literature Review
Many authors show that there are many similar factors that constitute to the high crime rates. Multiple
articles demonstrate how living in poverty mixed with low or no education, and being unemployed,
but fails to mention the greed and those factors in the white collar and corporate

The Two Koreas and the Responsibility of the International...
The conflict in the Korean peninsula should not be the exclusive concern of the East Asian region nor
the American powers. In an increasingly globalized world, the challenges to human rights and world
peace is a transnational responsibility. It is a concern for the entire international community,
particularly in this case as the commission has mentioned, because of the international community s
past involvement in the division of the Korean peninsula (United Nations Human Rights Council 16).
Yet, it appears that despite what we have learned from history, such as the horrific atrocities that
occurred in Nazi Germany and Rwanda, the rest of the world seems willing to sit idly by with regard
to the continuing abuses in North Korea.
The reality of human rights abuses in North Korea has already been established time and time again.
Yet, no serious, collective efforts and action at the international level has yet to emerge from these
discussions, reports and investigations.
The very recent publication of a comprehensive report by the United Nations Commission of Inquiry
on human rights in the Democratic People s Republic of Korea establishes credible evidence and
knowledge of the situation in North Korea. With knowledge of the unparalleled conditions, the
international community now has no excuse for its inaction. Although the global community faces
many challenges such as issues of state sovereignty, it must remember the many human lives at stake
and the fundamental right to

PURPOSE. The purpose of this study is to examine how CRISPR genome editing technology can be
used to change heart muscle dystrophin expression and enable proper muscle function in dystrophic
mice. Dystrophic cardiomyopathy is the most common cause of death in patients with DMD
(Duchenne muscular dystrophy).
METHODS. SaCas9 (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat associated 9 form
staphylococcus aureus) were clustered together with RNA into a vector (adeno associated virus
vector). The vector was then inserted into the mdx/Utr+/ baby mice.
RESULTS. CRISPR mediated genome editing was able to cut out the mutated exon 23 found in DMD
mice. Immunofluorescence was used to demonstrate that the dystrophin protein expression was indeed
reestablished. Approximately 40% of dystrophin protein expression was regained. Muscle function as
well as expression was also reestablished. Cardiac muscle contractility improved significantly.
KEY RELEVANCE. This information which the study provides is useful because it exhibits
confirmation that CRISPR mediated genome editing can be used as a possible method for repairing
dystrophic cardiomyopathy anatomically as well as for other genetic diseases.

Benefits Of Assisted Living Facilities In The United States
Housing decisions are one of the most important decisions that the adults need to make. An adult
considers many points like comfort, contentment and safety before making discretion about housing
option. There are many housing options and arrangements catering to the different needs of the senior
adults in the USA.. Following section helps to understand various housing options:
Owning a home:
Many of the older adults want to stay in the homes where they have lived for many years. For others,
downsizing to a smaller home is an alternative. While remaining in one s own home may be highly
desirable for older adults, the wisdom of choosing that option depends on making certain that their
health, social and financial needs are met.

In particular, disability rates converge over time. For example, the share of 50 54 year olds with some
type of disability ranges from 7 percent of those with at least $60,000 in annual income to 33 percent
of those earning less than $30,000 (Figure 3). By age 85, however, more than two thirds of individuals

also drops with age for all groups. The typical income of households aged 80 and over ($25,000) is
less than half that of households aged 50 64 ($60,300). This across the board drop in income reduces
disparities by race/ethnicity and tenure. For example, the incomes of white households aged 50 64 are

Cultural Imperialism In The British East India Company
India s production of tea has increased from 10.8% to 90.13% since the British East India Company
started production in Calcutta, India over 35 years ago. According to India Tea News , the British East
India Company dramatically increased the production of tea in India in response to Qing China s
monopoly in the tea industry. During the 19th century, the British East India Company was focused on
controlling India, political and military gains in India, and trade of spices and opium (Mohan). While
the British East India Company was colonizing India and reaping the rewards, the British colonists
were introduced to different aspects of tea and cooking styles from native Indians and Qing China
(Liu). Soon after, the British colonists adopted the ideals/practices of trading/brewing tea from Qing
China. Since the British were introduced to different types of tea, the demand had increased and thus
prompted the British East India Company to intervene (Mohan). This paper argues that Qing China
struck fear in the British East India Company which forced the company to use cultural imperialism
throughout India and Europe during the 1840s 1890s. In order to achieve their goals, the British East
India Company conducted the tea trade as a private entity working on behalf of the British Empire.
Compared to the British East India Company, the Chinese state had total control of the tea industry
within Qing China. The British East India Company had several differences and several

best way to describe the thinking behind this piece. The first general section of the painting being the
face. I gave her doll like features to draw in your eyes, all of the features making your eye wander to
her eyes, the eyes are one of the most communicative parts of the face, and by adding longing, watery

her eyes are to draw your eyes to hers and to represent how badly she wants to bury her brother s

Character Analysis Of White Fang
Through both brutal and loving actions, the characters in White Fang thrive to become the best. White
Fang was taught from young to become fit for the environment of which he faced. Weedon Scott
cherishes White Fang, being the best master White Fang could have. Kiche faced unmanageable
situations, but she still managed to survive. These are the most significant characters in White Fang
that stood out to survive and become the fittest. The character White Fang demonstrates survival of
the fittest through his many actions. First, White Fang was taught since youth to hunt for his own
food. For instance, White Fang had to kill ptarmigan chicks for food, and he had to kill a weasel
because he was being attacked. (London, 73) These events ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Weedon Scott has sympathy for White Fang and has an idea of what he had to go through, just to
survive in the wild. Although, Weedon Scott still demands respect from White Fang and he still wants
White Fang to obey him just like his previous masters. When Weedon Scott fell off of his horse, he
demanded White Fang not to attack the horse, and to go back home. (London, 238) This example
shows how White Fang has to respect Weedon Scott if he wants to be respected back. Concluding my
evidence, these actions show how Weedon Scott is the survival of the fittest. Kiche showed how she
adapted to the savage environment in which she faced. First off, she saved White Fang from being
killed by a lynx and a weasel, and if she did not save him he would have died. (London, 71) This
incident proves that Kiche cared for him, and Kiche would protect her cubs if necessary. This picture
displays how Kiche cared and loved White Fang. A couple years later, Kiche met up with White Fang
and she did not recognize him because White Fang matured and looked older. Kiche s instinct was to
claw White Fang because she thought he was trying to hurt her newborn cubs. (London, 134) This
made White Fang and Kiche mentally stronger, so they could both move on with their new life.
Finally, Kiche willingly gave herself up to indians knowing she would escape in the future. Kiche, like
White Fang, was brilliant and she knew the man animals were more powerful than her, so that

The New Liberal Arts, By Sanford J. Ungar And Robert Reich...
To discuss the value of liberal education, there should be a mutual understanding that investing in
college means to invest in oneself. Furthermore, while some consider this investment to be a critical
stepping stone to success, others dismiss it, explaining that school simply cannot prepare someone for
the real world. Sanford J. Ungar and Robert Reich explore both of these subjective values in their
essays The New Liberal Arts and College is a Ludicrous Waste of Money. Ungar, the president of
Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland, discusses why a liberal education should be sought after; he
does so by introducing common misconceptions about liberal arts and, using argumentative
persuasion, proves their insignificance. On the other hand, Reich, the former secretary of labor, argues
against the conventional belief of college being the only road to financial wellbeing; rather, he
explains why a two year education may better accommodate many college students, especially those
in need of immediate work or those that simply cannot afford a four year education. In all, although
both Reich and Ungar generally discuss liberal education, their perspectives differ when it comes to its
practicality in the current economy. Also, to express their different views about liberal arts, the authors
use contrasting tones to present their ideas to different intended audiences. In order to analyze the
given arguments, one must identify the intended audiences. Ungar explores many ideas,

Disadvantages Of Unstructured Interview
Interviews are a part of our day to day lives, with interviews being conducted in every other social
interaction. According to Maccoby and Maccoby (as cited in Brinkmann, 2013, p. 2 3) , an interview
is a face to face verbal exchange, in which one person, the interviewer attempts to elicit information or
expression of opinion or belief from another person or persons . However, there is a difference
between interviews conducted in the normal social settings and interviews conducted for qualitative
research purposes (Stuckey, 2013).
According to Klenke (2016), qualitative interviewing provides a way of generating empirical data
about the social world of informants asking them to talk about their lives (p. 125). It is a purposeful
data collection method with a meaning making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And as such unstructured interviews are appropriate for collecting data in narrative research design
(Hennink et al., 2011). One of the primary disadvantages of using the unstructured interview methods
is that, this method is time consuming and produces a lot of data (Alsaawi, 2014). However, this
voluminous data is appropriate in enabling the researcher to understand and get in depth information
on a phenomenon (Bryman, 2016).
Of the various approaches of interviewing, the semi structured interview is the most commonly used
data collecting method in social science research (Brinkman, 2013). It employs both the structured and
unstructured interview methods, meaning that the researcher uses both the open ended and close ended
questions. As such it balances the advantages and disadvantages of both the structured and
unstructured interviewing methods. The semi structured interview can be administered either face to
face, through a questionnaire , via telephone or any other electronic method such as skype (McIntosh

Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee Essay
Besides seizing land from the Native Americans, the United States government also disrupted Indians
cultures, through the process of assimilation. With legislation, especially the Dawes Act, Native
American children were sent to boarding schools with the goal to kill the Indian and save the child
(Bear). In the movie, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, the main character, Ohiyesa travels to a
school, with a mission to teach the Natives the ways of the white man. In one scene, Ohiyesa s teacher
refuses to call on him unless he selects a white name from a book. Only when Ohiyesa takes the first
step towards assimilation or chooses a Christian name will his teacher acknowledge him. Eventually,

The Time Of The Butterflies And The Happenings Of Women Essay
Women have always been the strong ones of the world. The men are always seeking from women a
little pillow to put their heads down on. They are always longing for the mother who held them as
infants These words by author Coco Chanel perfectly depict the central theme of the film In the Time
of the Butterflies and the happenings of women in the Dominican Republic during the twentieth

Ultimately, in 1990, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of
surfactants in neonates. Since then, surfactant therapy is considered as one of the few treatments that
has reduced general mortality in preterm newborns with RDS. On the basis of production, surfactant is
divided into two types: natural and synthetic (Roger Soll et al. 2001). The meta analysis of number of
smaller studies comparing synthetic and natural surfactants have shown that synthetic surfactants with
their slower response might be supported for prophylaxis use, whereas natural surfactants with their
fast response might be more suitable for very sick infants at danger of barotraumas and pulmonary air
leaks (Richard A et al,2014). A meta analysis comparing the effectiveness of prophylactic vs. selective
exogenous surfactant administration, carried out by Rojas Reyes et al., 2012 showed that prophylactic
administration reduces the rate of pneumothorax, pneumonic interstitial emphysema, neonatal

The Slavery Of The South
The South, on the other hand, was highly dependent upon the institution of slavery. It was still
primarily an agricultural society that needed as many laborers as possible in order for the plantation
owners to make ends meet. According to historian Douglas Harper, In 1793 came the cotton gin,
which brought a 50 fold increase in the average daily output of short staple cotton, promoted the rapid
expansion of a cotton kingdom across the Deep South, and made large scale slavery profitable.
Because of this, the slave became an essential tool to the farmers of the south; more money became
invested in slavery rather than in industrial improvements. Based upon the 1860 U.S. Census, there
were almost a whopping total of four million slaves in the South alone. In fact, the more slaves an
owner had, the more prestige. Most slave owners owned fewer than five slaves, and only 12 percent of
Southerners had twenty or more slaves. Many whites who had no slaves looked with envy upon the
wealthy, and to a degree admired them. This hierarchy had a clearly defined social structure which
created distinctions between rich and poor whites as well as racial segregation. This agricultural
society and its strict hierarchy only increased the social and racial disparities found in the southern
region of the United States.
These differences in cultures inevitably led to the difference in Bible interpretations. These different
interpretations occurred primarily in response to the moral debate

The main argument for years for Angelina County to stay dry was the fear of DUI DWI rates to
increase. The findings from studies were inconclusive; it could not be said with absolute certainty the
rates would increase in a wet county. Researchers believe the results may have been effected by the
fact that even though the county was legally and technically dry, but it was functionally and practically
wet (Scalen and Payne). Examining other studies would paint a better picture for an overall view of
how wet vs. dry really affects DWI s and alcohol related vehicle fatalities. The larger the sample, the
better picture you get for an average. You can form a confident conclusion the more informed you are
about the matter. An alternative to strict prohibition Texas localities can consider is to become moist.
Research has shown that two out of three dry counties have more DWI s and DUI s than wet counties
(Wet vs. Dry). If a locality still does not want to go completely wet, they can start slow by allowing
some alcoholic beverages. This can teach the community how to be more responsible with alcohol.
Overall, community citizens will probably be happier since they may not have to travel to other cities
or counties to purchase alcohol. The locality could start earning some revenue from the sale of

Essay On Isotopes
Isotopes from Greenhouse Gases and Air Toxics
Introduction
In recent years, the oil and natural gas industry has continued to expand to populated areas, thus
growing a concern for nearby communities regarding volatile organic compounds (VOCs) air toxics
and human exposure.1 Current screening methods to determine exposure of toxic VOCs such as the
family of Benzene, Toluene, Ethylene and Xylene (BTEX) requires a traditional gas chromatograph
(GC), which requires high energy use and its bulky size is not ideal for long term field deployment
and real time measurements. Sensor technology advancements have enabled the use of low cost
devices to measure VOCs, but require additional techniques for chemical speciation for BTEX
identification (i.e. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
VOCs are more complex hydrocarbons than CH4 that are emitted from biogenic and anthropogenic
sources. Biogenic VOCs include alkanes, alkenes, alcohols, aldehydes, etc. Generally, anthropogenic
VOCs are diverse and also include aromatic hydrocarbons, most importantly benzene, toluene,
ethylene and the isomers of xylene as major components (up to 75%).5 To say the least, there is a
wide chemical composition variety of VOCs released to the atmosphere. For my project centered in
the oil and gas industry, I will focus on the aromatic compounds BTEX. Studying the isotopic ratio of
VOCs can provide insight into the photochemical transformation and physical processing of ambient
VOCs.10 Recent isotope studies on VOCs has shown the stable isotopes of C within the compounds is
consistent with the kinetic isotope effect.10 Thus, the fractionation between the emission and the
observation can determine the extent of photochemical processing, other words the photochemical
age.10 The study of isotopes within VOCs has recently developed with Rudolph, et al., 1997 as a
method was introduced to measure VOCs at low mixing ratios (3 to 5 orders of magnitude smaller
than CH4).

The Nature Of God
Nature of the universe is that God has created life in his image. For God is the embodiment of
perfection, the ultimate form of things. Now the maximum in any genus is the cause of all in that
genus; as fire, which is the maximum heat, is the cause of all hot things. Therefore there must also be
something which is to all beings the cause of their being, goodness, and every other perfection; and
this we call God. The foundation of Aquinas work relies on showcasing evidence on the existence of
God. He explains that God has laid the foundation for life and gave people wisdom. As a wise
architect, I have laid the foundation (1 Cor. 3:10). Again, in the order of all human life, the prudent
man is called wise, inasmuch as he directs his acts to a fitting end: Wisdom is prudence to a man
(Prov. 10: 23). Therefore he who considers absolutely the highest cause of the whole universe, namely
God, is most of all called wise... Hence sacred doctrine is especially called wisdom. People have what
they have due to the actions of God; life exists because it was created by God.
The nature of man is to learn about ourselves and the world; we do so by having reason. People have
reason which holds our hopes, determination, and conscious. Naturally people seek knowledge to
fulfill our needs. The method of doing so is using our senses to gather information. So in relation with
people using senses to acquire this information, the bible was written for people to gather truths about

Language And Academic Development And The Effective...
2. What was the background for the research study? That is, what previous knowledge did the author
describe as a foundation for the study in the review of related literature ? The background for the
research study provided insight into the theoretical and pedagogical aspect of using native language
(L1) with a focus on the aspects that most relate to adult ESL classes. The areas addressed were both
the affective aspects of learning related to bilingualism and academic development and the effective
classroom practices. Knowing that individuals organize and learn information by thinking and feeling,
teachers need to keep in mind that the emotional self is a strong factor in learning. Native language is
an important part of culture and creating opportunities for using L1 might be quite beneficial to
learning the target language (TL), in this case English. The nature of bilingualism was addressed and
as Huerta Macias and Kephart cited Cook (1992), learners cannot simply shut down their knowledge
of one language when using the other. Adults whose cognitive development exceeds their linguistic
ability in the TL may find an English only class frustrating. Another important element of the
background research was the understanding that adults will learn English differently than students in a
K 12 setting. For adults, language is best taught through content, as a tool for communicating and
learning. Use of L1 in adult ESL classrooms serves multiple purposes, such as

Themes Between The Cult Of Game Hunting By British...
I believe the pairing of themes between the cult of game hunting by British imperialist and the
colonization of foreign lands is exhaustive. Racial Superiority or the taming of barbarians might be
used an argument for the eradication for species in certain areas (ironically as Collins points out, areas
often named for the creatures now conspicuously absent). The exploitation of the natural resources by
hunters could be likened to the wanton consumption of valuable resources in India whereby the
concern for the plight of the indigenous was not a concern. Social, political and of course economic
motives are also actively portrayed. The rise of the industrial revolution foreshadowed disaster for any
colonial territories. Valuable resources such as raw materials, crops, mineral even manual labor were
exploited by the European interlopers. The value of the fauna was assessed, dominated and capitalized
on, like any other resource. The callous manner in which Cummings engages his pray and his
unabridged depiction of his indeference to their subsequent suffering might also explain the deplorable
attitude which must have been needed to subjugate the indigenous people of the territories ruled by
imperialism. There exists an air of bravado and machismo which is used to justify atrocities such as
the corporal punishment and maiming of the natives, as if they were comparable to livestock of the
period.
The imperialist hunters pushing out further away from the colonies to find

What We Talking About When We Talk About Love By Raymond...
Love can be defined in many ways, but does anyone know the true meaning of it? In Raymond Carver
s short story What We Talk About When We Talk About Love, he shows us the realism behind the true
meaning of love with a menacing tone. This story particularly shows how different people may have
different definitions of it that reflect who they are as a person by using strangle dialogue given by the
characters and situations that reveal symbolic items. From the ironic remarks and slight rebuttals in
this story, one could infer that the topic of love can bring the worst out of people. Through this story,
Carver shows love through the lives of his characters, suggesting that each love is different, and all
people have different views on it.

Almost all of Carver s stories have characters that have been through disturbing or weird events and is
brought up by the symbolism used in his work.
The symbolism in this story happens several times, mainly with the role of sunlight. Sunlight in this
story represents the good and clarity in the room and conversation. At the beginning of the story, the
light filled the kitchen from the big window behind the sink, and this shows how calm and happy the
setting was before they talked about love (Carver 334). Any time the sunlight is mentioned, the
characters are happy and are full of comfort. As the story progresses, and as the characters continue to
talk about love, the light slowly leaves the room as a sense of all the innocent of the conversation
fading away until the room was fully dark. Even though the sunlight is a major symbol, alcohol is also
one. Carver uses alcohol to brighten the flexibility of conversation. When the bottle of gin is full the
conversation is flowing but at the end when Mel spills his glass, it shows the end of the conversation.
This is important as it shows an example of Carver using alcohol as a rhythmic device. It also shows
the thought of Mel and Terri having difficulty mentioning past relationships without the help of
alcohol, using the alcohol to hide their true feelings. The gin could

Her main classical source of inspiration is the Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur, in which, as a
punishment for past crimes, Minos forces Athens to sacrifice seven youths and seven maidens to the
Minotaur, which kills them in a vast labyrinth. Collins says that even as a child, she was stunned by
the idea since it was just so cruel to force Athens to sacrifice its own children.
Collins also cites as a classical inspiration the Roman gladiator games. She feels three key elements
create a good game: an all powerful and ruthless government, people forced to fight to the death, and
the game s role as a source of popular entertainment.
A contemporary source of inspiration was Collins recent fascination with reality television programs.
She says they are like The Hunger Games because the Games are not just entertainment but also a
reminder to the districts of their rebellion. On a tired night, Collins says that while she was channel
surfing the television, she saw people competing for some prize and then saw footage of the Iraq war.
She described how the two combined in an unsettling way to create her first ideas for the series.

To Believe and To Change in Ayn Rand’s Anthem
To Believe and To Change Individuality arises when an individual encounters and endures a life,
taking their first step with their family which is the first society an individual faces. Through their
lives, individuals promote their own exclusive originalities, while Ayn Rand s novella Anthem
characterizes a totalitarian society suppressing individualism. In the society depicted in Anthem,
individualism is oppressed by the society imposing children live away from their families which is one
form of totalitarian dictator s authority. The intention of totalitarian dictators enforcing the
arrangement of children living apart from their families is to impede individualistic society avert
dissimilarities transpiring in the process of family influences in education, forfend the enlightenment
of emotions, and the establishment of collectivism. We strive to be like all our brother men, for all
men must be alike (Rand 21). Although being divergent is a sin, transgression in Anthem society,
Prometheus, the protagonist, defies against collectivism by standing out and becoming an outcast of
himself in his society with self assurance and eagerness. No one in Anthem society has individual
identity by inspecting the inexistence of the word I, while Prometheus detects the Unspeakable Word,
ego, exposing the readers to envisage the propitious prospect of the establishment of individualism.
Women never see their children and children never know their parents (Rand 41). Prometheus

Recount essay
Recount The movie recount is a very good representation of what happened during the 2000 election
between George W. Bush and Al Gore. It dives into the legal battle between the two campaigns as the
recount of Florida s votes kept the nation waiting for over a month. Although the movie shows both
sides of the story, I believe the Democrats supported the making of this movie. During the movie they
made it seem like the Democrats were being treated unfairly but really the government was just
following the rules. Today it is still a controversial topic, I believe the government handled it the right
way and that if it was to happen again, the same outcome would happen. At the end of the movie they
have two quotes, one by Democrat Warren ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This butterfly ballot caused confusion to many voters, and quickly after they voted many had called in
saying the voted for the wrong person. The reason given for the design was that they felt the people
wouldn t be able to read the font if they put all the candidates on the same side of the ballot. Although
the set up may have been confusing it is your job as a voter to pay attention to what you are doing
while voting.
A hanging chad is the piece of paper left hanging from a punch card ballot when the punch is
incomplete. A bulging chad is still attached to the hole on both sides. During the 2000 election chads
were a very big deal. During the recount it was a big decision whether or not to count a vote that didn t
go all the way through even if you could tell where their intended vote was heading. In my opinion
they should not count the vote if it did not go all the way through, again it is your job as a voter to
make your vote obvious.
The Florida Recount Law states that, the close vote margin for Florida elections is 0.5% of the total
votes cast for a given office or measure. The law specifies that candidates, including candidates for
retention to a judicial office, and ballot measures are all subject to recounts. Both primary and general
elections are eligible for recounts. The apparent losing candidate by this margin can waive the recount
if such a request is made in

Getting Enough Calcium through Food Essay example
The body s metabolism relies on minerals such as calcium to function properly. Calcium is not
produced in the body directly. Any food eaten is the sole source calcium, which makes up nearly 1.5%
of a person s total body weight. However, despite traditional understanding, calcium is not just found
in dairy related products. A variety of foods also provide calcium to the benefit of the body. Both
sources of calcium are detailed below.
Without a doubt, the best food sources of calcium include dairy products. Specifically, well purchased
and well known items such as milk, cheese, and yogurt provide nearly 100 to 400 mg of calcium per
cup of serving. Another popular choice is cottage cheese. One half cup of low fat cottage cheese ...

Very few realize, though, that one does not have to only eat daily products to acquire the
recommended amounts of calcium. For instance,
Cooking and Storage: 2 4 paragraphs
The relationship between vitamin d and calcium is inextricably linked. Recent research has discovered
when calcium intake is too low, vitamin D [triggers] a process in which stored calcium is mobilized
from the bones (Holick) to help with bone healing and reformation. Vitamin D acts in the body to
replenish low amounts of calcium. The skeletal system and the digestive tract can be tapped when the
blood calcium begins to fall...[and]...increase absorption of calcium from food [and] lost in urine
(Sizer 243). In sum, regular amounts of calcium are essential to good health in the body.
Unlike other minerals, calcium is considered to be a very stable mineral. Processes such as
pasteurization, heating, or drying...does not reduce availability of calcium (Ensminger and Ensminger
301). The mineral remains intact, regardless whether it is in ice cream, a boiled pudding, or a frozen
dairy item. For milk to retain its high calcium makeup, it is best stirred as it heats to incorporate the
calcium salts into the liquid (Ibid.).
Cooking other calcium rich food sources also must follow proper guidelines. For instance, vegetables
should be cooked by using small amounts of water, by keeping the sizes of the pieces as large as

The Promotion Of Tesla And The Model S Car
The Promotion of Tesla and the advertising of the Model S car displays them the world s most cutting
edge manufacturer and car for public consumption. We have built a reputation around the success of
the company s CEO, Elon Musk. He has a history of taking great risks with companies and creating
innovation out of those risks. Those ventures include PayPal and SpaceX, both of which are leaders in
both the online payment format and space exploration industries (Forbes). The name itself, Tesla, is
associated with innovation. The company is named after the engineer and physicist Nikola Tesla, who
was the inventor of the Tesla coil and the AC power transmission, which is used in Tesla s cars
currently (Tesla Business Insider). Nikola Tesla was one of the greatest minds, which is why we chose
to name Tesla Motors after him. When consumers think of our product they think of the innovation
and advancement, the same way Nikola Tesla is thought of. The brand elicits cutting edge
performance, new concepts, desirability and exclusivity. Products at Tesla display the ability to
compete with any car on in multiple categories; the Model S gets better mpg than a Prius and still has
better performance than a Porsche. The Model S is smart tech equipped, with a touch screen center
control panel from the top of the dash to the gearshift, which no other commercial car has to date. Our
branding is seen as luxurious and exclusive; in order to acquire one of our cars you have to be on an

Abigail lead girls to the forest where they all danced around a fire, when they were found, the girls were brought to trial. People started accusing the girls and other people around them of witchcraft. • 4. Battle of Vimy Ridge Many countries have tried but failed to capture this area. Both French and British armies tired but failed the Germans were too strong. This area was known as Vimy Ridge, which has many high hills and was located in France. The Germans had captured this area since September 1914, the Germans started to build artillery proof bunkers and trenches. Germanys had the advantage in every battle; Germanys had their bases on top of the long hills. Which lead them to look down on their enemies, which was easier for Germanys to kill their target. After countries failing to capture Vimy Ridge, Canada decided they were going to attempt to fight for Vimy Ridge. For the first time Britain asked for generals to lead Canada to victory for the battle of Vimy Ridge. Sir Julian Byng and Major Arthur Currie were asked to lead the Canadian Military to win the battle of Vimy Ridge. After months of practicing a strategy Canada was ready. April 1917, Canada went to battle with Germany for Vimy Ridge. This became one of the most devastating battles ¬in Canadian history. Canadians should remember that Vimy Ridge was not their triumph alone. British artillery and the elite 51st Highland Division helped make victory possible (Desmond Morton, Significance of Vimy Ridge). Vimy Ridge is considered a defining moment in Canadian history because, it was Canada s first time using a general to plan tactics and strategy s, Canada was the only country that succeeded on capturing Vimy Ridge, lastly all Canadian ... After the September 11th terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre by the Islamic radical group al Qaeda and the 2001 Anthrax attacks on two senators and several news media offices, congress rushed to pass the USA Patriot Act, which roughly is an Act to deter and punish acts of terrorism in the United States and around the world, to enhance law enforcement investigatory tools, and for other purposes. He spent nearly all his childhood running away from the war and eventually ended up joining the army. During difficult times, Ishmael always held on to hope to continue his life s journey. In A Long Way Gone, the theme is Always have hope , and is shown through Ishmael Beah s hope for a better life, to find his family, and through the rehab staff`s hope for the boy soldiers. Ishmael`s hope for a better life portrays one example of the theme Always have hope . The war was very traumatic for everyone in the country. In fact, Ishmael joined the army at only 12 years old. While fighting in the war, Ishmael recalled his family and the wisdom they left with him. For example, Ishmael`s father said, If there is nothing good left in the destiny of a person he or she will die (Beah54). Ishmael holds on to his father`s words as they comfort him and divert his attention away from the war around him. He could`ve given up many times during the journey. Instead, Ishmael does not lose hope and continues to move on because he knows that life will get better. Another way the theme, Always have hope is shown in A Long Way Gone is through Ishmael`s hope to find his family by keeping his will to live and the memories at the forefront. In Ishmael`s first account of war, his village was overturned by the rebels and his family was split up. Therefore, Ishmael and his friends were left to survive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Similarities Between Spanish And Basque In Catalunya If you encounter a native of France or Spain, he will most likely speak French or Spanish, as the national language of his home country. However, a notable number of people speak a cultural language as well. The salience of these languages on the north vs. south side of the Pyrenees Mountains is substantial. Catalan, spoken in northeastern Spain and southeastern France, and Basque, a language isolate spoken in northern Spain and southwestern France, are minority languages. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Catalunya, Catalan is spoken fluently by 85% of the population with 97% claiming they understand ( Generalitat de Catalunya. 6). This mutual intelligibility between Spanish and Catalan suggests that Catalan is only a dialect of Castilian. While many people would like to say this is true, and Spain under Franco attempted to integrate Catalan into mainstream Spanish culture this way (Alguera 89), the Catalan is a distinct language with it s own lexicon, literature, grammar rules, etc. It is a mandatory subject for children in public education in the autonomous community ( Catalans. 109). This contrasts the Basque Country where only 30% of the population is fully fluent in Basque (Gobierno Vasco 17). Interestingly, although Basque is classified as a vulnerable language ( Data on the Basque Language. ) and is spoken by less than a third of the population, the highest concentration of speakers exists in young adults, where nearly 60% of people age 16 to 24 claim to be fluent (Gobierno Vasco 21). I think this trend is interesting because one would think the older generations had the higher percentage of Basque speakers, and the lowest among the younger age groups owing to assimilation to Spanish language and culture. Although Basque and Catalan are recognized co official languages and enjoy considerable clout and use, the situation is very different in France. That dispute led to secession, and secession brought about a war in which the Northern and Western states and territories fought to preserve the Union, and the South fought to establish Southern independence as a new confederation of states under its own constitution. In the late 18th century, the abolitionist movement began in the north and the country began to divide over the issue between north and south. This sort of solution would have ended slavery, but done it without the violence and death that the Civil War brought. So, famous abolitionist John Brown resorted to theft, and to attacks on federal officers, in his effort to end slavery. The radical abolitionists had no interested in ending slavery in a peaceful or legal way. They wanted to end slavery at the point of the bayonet. • 10. Crime And The Crime Rates Many say that a person is a product of their environment and studies show that it is true. When living in poverty, one steals to have what they physically want. Many factors contribute to those living in poverty, such as unemployment, low or no education, race, and age median. Poverty and crime are most related to those who reside in the slums, ghettos and hoods. Various crimes committed in poverty areas may be organized crimes. The main focus of these organized crimes is drugs and drug trafficking. A lot of areas remain in poverty because businesses do not want to build in the area because of the crime rates. Children who are raised around violence and crime tend to commit more crimes than those who do not see it growing up. Race is an issue when it comes to the punishment and sentencing of the crime(s). When working in corporate, one embezzles and steals to get the money that they want, but yet you do not hear too much about the white collar crimes. Another crime that is also committed, but is rarely talked about is corporate crimes committed on us. • 11. The Two Koreas and the Responsibility of the International... The conflict in the Korean peninsula should not be the exclusive concern of the East Asian region nor the American powers. In an increasingly globalized world, the challenges to human rights and world peace is a transnational responsibility. It is a concern for the entire international community, particularly in this case as the commission has mentioned, because of the international community s past involvement in the division of the Korean peninsula (United Nations Human Rights Council 16). Yet, it appears that despite what we have learned from history, such as the horrific atrocities that occurred in Nazi Germany and Rwanda, the rest of the world seems willing to sit idly by with regard to the continuing abuses in North Korea. The reality of human rights abuses in North Korea has already been established time and time again. Yet, no serious, collective efforts and action at the international level has yet to emerge from these discussions, reports and investigations. The very recent publication of a comprehensive report by the United Nations Commission of Inquiry on human rights in the Democratic People s Republic of Korea establishes credible evidence and knowledge of the situation in North Korea. With knowledge of the unparalleled conditions, the international community now has no excuse for its inaction. Although the global community faces many challenges such as issues of state sovereignty, it must remember the many human lives at stake and the fundamental right to ... The purpose of this study is to examine how CRISPR genome editing technology can be used to change heart muscle dystrophin expression and enable proper muscle function in dystrophic mice. Dystrophic cardiomyopathy is the most common cause of death in patients with DMD (Duchenne muscular dystrophy). METHODS. SaCas9 (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat associated 9 form staphylococcus aureus) were clustered together with RNA into a vector (adeno associated virus vector). The vector was then inserted into the mdx/Utr+/ baby mice. RESULTS. CRISPR mediated genome editing was able to cut out the mutated exon 23 found in DMD mice. Immunofluorescence was used to demonstrate that the dystrophin protein expression was indeed reestablished. Approximately 40% of dystrophin protein expression was regained. Muscle function as well as expression was also reestablished. Cardiac muscle contractility improved significantly. KEY RELEVANCE. • 15. Cultural Imperialism In The British East India Company India s production of tea has increased from 10.8% to 90.13% since the British East India Company started production in Calcutta, India over 35 years ago. According to India Tea News , the British East India Company dramatically increased the production of tea in India in response to Qing China s monopoly in the tea industry. During the 19th century, the British East India Company was focused on controlling India, political and military gains in India, and trade of spices and opium (Mohan). While the British East India Company was colonizing India and reaping the rewards, the British colonists were introduced to different aspects of tea and cooking styles from native Indians and Qing China (Liu). Soon after, the British colonists adopted the ideals/practices of trading/brewing tea from Qing China. Since the British were introduced to different types of tea, the demand had increased and thus prompted the British East India Company to intervene (Mohan). This paper argues that Qing China struck fear in the British East India Company which forced the company to use cultural imperialism throughout India and Europe during the 1840s 1890s. In order to achieve their goals, the British East India Company conducted the tea trade as a private entity working on behalf of the British Empire. • 21. The New Liberal Arts, By Sanford J. Ungar And Robert Reich... To discuss the value of liberal education, there should be a mutual understanding that investing in college means to invest in oneself. Furthermore, while some consider this investment to be a critical stepping stone to success, others dismiss it, explaining that school simply cannot prepare someone for the real world. Sanford J. Ungar and Robert Reich explore both of these subjective values in their essays The New Liberal Arts and College is a Ludicrous Waste of Money. Ungar, the president of Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland, discusses why a liberal education should be sought after; he does so by introducing common misconceptions about liberal arts and, using argumentative persuasion, proves their insignificance. On the other hand, Reich, the former secretary of labor, argues against the conventional belief of college being the only road to financial wellbeing; rather, he explains why a two year education may better accommodate many college students, especially those in need of immediate work or those that simply cannot afford a four year education. In all, although both Reich and Ungar generally discuss liberal education, their perspectives differ when it comes to its practicality in the current economy. Also, to express their different views about liberal arts, the authors use contrasting tones to present their ideas to different intended audiences. In order to analyze the given arguments, one must identify the intended audiences. Ungar explores many ideas, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Maccoby and Maccoby (as cited in Brinkmann, 2013, p. 2 3) , an interview is a face to face verbal exchange, in which one person, the interviewer attempts to elicit information or expression of opinion or belief from another person or persons . However, there is a difference between interviews conducted in the normal social settings and interviews conducted for qualitative research purposes (Stuckey, 2013). And as such unstructured interviews are appropriate for collecting data in narrative research design (Hennink et al., 2011). One of the primary disadvantages of using the unstructured interview methods is that, this method is time consuming and produces a lot of data (Alsaawi, 2014). However, this voluminous data is appropriate in enabling the researcher to understand and get in depth information on a phenomenon (Bryman, 2016). Of the various approaches of interviewing, the semi structured interview is the most commonly used data collecting method in social science research (Brinkman, 2013). It employs both the structured and unstructured interview methods, meaning that the researcher uses both the open ended and close ended questions. As such it balances the advantages and disadvantages of both the structured and unstructured interviewing methods. • 29. The Slavery Of The South The South, on the other hand, was highly dependent upon the institution of slavery. It was still primarily an agricultural society that needed as many laborers as possible in order for the plantation owners to make ends meet. According to historian Douglas Harper, In 1793 came the cotton gin, which brought a 50 fold increase in the average daily output of short staple cotton, promoted the rapid expansion of a cotton kingdom across the Deep South, and made large scale slavery profitable. Because of this, the slave became an essential tool to the farmers of the south; more money became invested in slavery rather than in industrial improvements. Based upon the 1860 U.S. Census, there were almost a whopping total of four million slaves in the South alone. In fact, the more slaves an owner had, the more prestige. Most slave owners owned fewer than five slaves, and only 12 percent of Southerners had twenty or more slaves. Many whites who had no slaves looked with envy upon the wealthy, and to a degree admired them. This hierarchy had a clearly defined social structure which created distinctions between rich and poor whites as well as racial segregation. This agricultural society and its strict hierarchy only increased the social and racial disparities found in the southern region of the United States. These differences in cultures inevitably led to the difference in Bible interpretations. These different interpretations occurred primarily in response to the moral debate ... The main argument for years for Angelina County to stay dry was the fear of DUI DWI rates to increase. The findings from studies were inconclusive; it could not be said with absolute certainty the rates would increase in a wet county. Researchers believe the results may have been effected by the fact that even though the county was legally and technically dry, but it was functionally and practically wet (Scalen and Payne). Examining other studies would paint a better picture for an overall view of how wet vs. dry really affects DWI s and alcohol related vehicle fatalities. The larger the sample, the better picture you get for an average. You can form a confident conclusion the more informed you are about the matter. An alternative to strict prohibition Texas localities can consider is to become moist. Research has shown that two out of three dry counties have more DWI s and DUI s than wet counties (Wet vs. Dry). If a locality still does not want to go completely wet, they can start slow by allowing some alcoholic beverages. This can teach the community how to be more responsible with alcohol. • 35. The Nature Of God Nature of the universe is that God has created life in his image. For God is the embodiment of perfection, the ultimate form of things. Now the maximum in any genus is the cause of all in that genus; as fire, which is the maximum heat, is the cause of all hot things. Therefore there must also be something which is to all beings the cause of their being, goodness, and every other perfection; and this we call God. The foundation of Aquinas work relies on showcasing evidence on the existence of God. He explains that God has laid the foundation for life and gave people wisdom. As a wise architect, I have laid the foundation (1 Cor. 3:10). Again, in the order of all human life, the prudent man is called wise, inasmuch as he directs his acts to a fitting end: Wisdom is prudence to a man (Prov. 10: 23). Therefore he who considers absolutely the highest cause of the whole universe, namely God, is most of all called wise... Hence sacred doctrine is especially called wisdom. That is, what previous knowledge did the author describe as a foundation for the study in the review of related literature ? The background for the research study provided insight into the theoretical and pedagogical aspect of using native language (L1) with a focus on the aspects that most relate to adult ESL classes. The areas addressed were both the affective aspects of learning related to bilingualism and academic development and the effective classroom practices. Knowing that individuals organize and learn information by thinking and feeling, teachers need to keep in mind that the emotional self is a strong factor in learning. Native language is an important part of culture and creating opportunities for using L1 might be quite beneficial to learning the target language (TL), in this case English. The nature of bilingualism was addressed and as Huerta Macias and Kephart cited Cook (1992), learners cannot simply shut down their knowledge of one language when using the other. Adults whose cognitive development exceeds their linguistic ability in the TL may find an English only class frustrating. Another important element of the background research was the understanding that adults will learn English differently than students in a K 12 setting. For adults, language is best taught through content, as a tool for communicating and learning. Use of L1 in adult ESL classrooms serves multiple purposes, such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I believe the pairing of themes between the cult of game hunting by British imperialist and the colonization of foreign lands is exhaustive. Racial Superiority or the taming of barbarians might be used an argument for the eradication for species in certain areas (ironically as Collins points out, areas often named for the creatures now conspicuously absent). The exploitation of the natural resources by hunters could be likened to the wanton consumption of valuable resources in India whereby the concern for the plight of the indigenous was not a concern. Social, political and of course economic motives are also actively portrayed. The rise of the industrial revolution foreshadowed disaster for any colonial territories. Valuable resources such as raw materials, crops, mineral even manual labor were exploited by the European interlopers. The value of the fauna was assessed, dominated and capitalized on, like any other resource. The callous manner in which Cummings engages his pray and his unabridged depiction of his indeference to their subsequent suffering might also explain the deplorable attitude which must have been needed to subjugate the indigenous people of the territories ruled by imperialism. There exists an air of bravado and machismo which is used to justify atrocities such as the corporal punishment and maiming of the natives, as if they were comparable to livestock of the period. The symbolism in this story happens several times, mainly with the role of sunlight. Sunlight in this story represents the good and clarity in the room and conversation. At the beginning of the story, the light filled the kitchen from the big window behind the sink, and this shows how calm and happy the setting was before they talked about love (Carver 334). Any time the sunlight is mentioned, the characters are happy and are full of comfort. As the story progresses, and as the characters continue to talk about love, the light slowly leaves the room as a sense of all the innocent of the conversation fading away until the room was fully dark. Even though the sunlight is a major symbol, alcohol is also one. Carver uses alcohol to brighten the flexibility of conversation. When the bottle of gin is full the conversation is flowing but at the end when Mel spills his glass, it shows the end of the conversation.
