Their Eyes Were Watching God Coming Of Age Examples
Various novels can be classified as coming of age texts, this means that these are stories about a
protagonist s transition from childhood to adulthood or just growing up even as an adult. These
novels show their growth and change in character over the length of the text. Novels such as
The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger, The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky,
and Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston are all examples of coming of age
novels. In Zora Neale Hurston s Their Eyes Were Watching God the story is focused on Janie
Crawford and her growth over the course of the book. Their Eyes Were Watching God is a story
that follows protagonist Janie Crawford, through many hardships, relationships, and adventures. As
Janie Returns to her hometown in Florida after a long absence the novel is a recollection of her
experiences and adventures to her friend Pheoby Watson. Janie struggles throughout the entirety of
the novel to find freedom and peace with herself. She experiences relationships with a few different
kinds of people all of which help her to eventually find that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

At the beginning of their marriage they have a few ups and downs but they then promise to
share everything with each other. In chapter fourteen, because of Tea Cake, Janie decides to start
working in the fields on her own free will. This was something neither Logan nor Jody were able
to get her to do, but now because of how in love with Tea Cake she is, she works in the fields so
she can spend more time with him. She actually enjoys this work and tells him that Ah laks it. It s
mo nicer than settin round dese quarters all day (pg. 133). Her character has changed significantly
at this point since the beginning of the novel since, while hanging out with the towns people, she
could tell big stories herself which she would never have imagined doing while with

The Advantages And Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of...
In our company we are employing mainly general operatives but also some more specialised
cleaning staff beside administration and management employees. One of the most important
advantage of employing in house staff it is their level of investment into our organisation. By
working directly for our company personnel develops a strong sense of loyalty and belonging
within the organisation overtime. Employees are feeling proud of the work they perform on an
everyday basis, they take ownership of their responsibilities, and they then carry out. They can go
that extra mile and push themselves more as they feel involved and a part of the team.
By hiring outsource staff, we cannot expect the same level of involvement and integration.
Personnel employed by an agency does not feel so strongly about being a part of the team. They
are coming to work more on the temporary basis, hardly ever staying in one placement for a longer
time. For that reasons the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Racism In Friday Night Lights
Racism was a consistent theme throughout the entirety of Friday Night Lights (2015) and was
intertwined with many of the issues and concepts discussed here. Odessa held onto its racial
ideologies for much longer than it should have, even with Federal lawsuits against them
(Bissinger, 2015; pg. 107 Coakley, 2015; pg. 227). These beliefs were deeply held and acted
upon that they still were intact even after the desegregation of the schools. The Southside of
Odessa had been and continued to be classified as the low income and minority side of town
where the blacks and Hispanics lived, while the East side was for the wealthy and white citizens.
The railroad tracks that ran through the heart of town served as the divider for this segregation,
or as Lanita Akins called it: The American version of the Berlin Wall (Bissinger, 2015; pg. 99).
The physical separation wasn t the only racial issue that Odessa had. Blacks and Hispanics were
both quite underrepresented in Permian High, only making up about 31% of the student body
(Bissinger, 2015; pg. 175). The black population of Odessa seemed to get the blunt end of the
racial stigma though, which is especially seen at the beginning of chapter 5 with the use and
explanation of why some Odessans used the word... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was also common for Texas high school football as a whole. These behaviors were seen both off
and on the field and included extreme play against the opposing team, drinking, drug use, fighting,
hubris, and institutional corruption (Bissinger, 2015 Coakley, 2015). Off field behavior included
mainly drinking and getting into fights, though the citizens of Odessa even went as far as shooting
a gun inside a bar at one point. The player s drinking had become bad enough that an anonymous
letter frowning upon that behavior found its way into their lockers while they were in the playoffs

The Dark Forest Of Black Rock Essay
Ayland rode his horse around the deep forest circling the Hedgeknorey s castle, in black rock. He
carefully led his horse down a path within the evergreen forest of black rock, covered with pine
trees, but also with oak and elder trees.
He has been around this path many times before and maybe even too much as the curious souls
began to wonder why a boy of such a noble status would wander in the deep forest of black rock.
Not a lot of people spent time in forests, at least not too far away from the main rocky road, made
for horses, merchandises, and peasants on foot. People would not wander too far in the forest,
because of the obvious fear of wild animals, especially during winter. But they were also avoiding
another threat. And that threat was a human threat also known as Willem the Druid, who was a
feared and at the same time a much venerated man because of his knowledge of medicine and
herbs. He was also rumored to know magic, and this was perhaps what made him such a dreadful
person.
But Ayland had this thing about him; which was that he feared no one since he was also certain
that he was to become King, one day. This assertion was not born out of a pretentious, motherly
molded dream, but by the fact that he was an ambitious and great risk taker. Qualities he would
share with his mother.
Ayland, got down from his horse, tied it up and walked pass a small house, which should have
been the Druid s house. There was a strong smell of brewing rosemary herbs and the small

Application Management of Software
Implementing software in a working environment can be no easy task, however deciding how they
will work best to meet the needs of the company can outlined in a plan. This software plan needs to
identify all software applications being used or supporting the business organization. An inventory
of current software s supporting the Alcan organization be reassessed in order to fit their
organizations mission intent. The software selection should be able to use existing or provide
compatibility with their databases. However one must clearly define the intended functionality the
organization is trying to get from the software and how it will be applied to their existing
information technology (IT) systems.
Software Solutions There is a lot of smaller companies that are moving into open source software
arena versus proprietary, because of the cost of savings. However, they are some disadvantages
to going to the open source venue. Although many open source software s provide free to
download trials to explorer their so called free software you still have to pay in order to receive
customer support. This means you still have to pay for support that may or may not be available
24 hours a day. The advantage of proprietary software is you are supported for bugs and fixes that
can impact a company. This support covers every license registration purchased by your company.

Phillis Wheatley Analysis
Anne Bradstreet once wrote, If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did
not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome. This quote summarizes
much of what her and fellow female writer Phillis Wheatley s lives were like during their fights for
social change. Throughout their lives, these women were forced to live through challenges and
injustices on levels that are unimaginable to many of members of today s society. With the
Bradstreet and Wheatley did much to counter these challenges, even directly addressing the masses
in their writings as forms of protests. This is precisely the element of which both unites and
distinguishes the two women on a very grand scale. In Phillis Wheatleys On Being... Show more

She uses her writing to express her ideas on women being significant figures in the world, or at

have been involved in the process for a number of years, But sure the antique Greeks were far

(Bradstreet 31 33).Bradstreet includes this line to establish the belief to her readers that women
have been and should continue to be significant figures in the world of writing and the arts. With
the muses of the famed Greeks being women and successful poets themselves, Bradstreet hopes
to argue that women were important and proficient in the trade that men laid claim to in her time.
In all of her piece, Bradstreet s main idea that she hopes to convey is that since women have been
such staples in the art for so long that it only makes sense for them to be allowed to still. While
both authors write in ways that express radical ideas for their respective time periods, they were
sure to write in methods that did not serve to be inflammatory to their largely opposing audiences.
This is the point in which their differences truly shine: their execution of this

My Experience At The Metropolitan Museum Of Art Essay
What a blessing I had today to experience in my own eyes wonderful sights and scenes. Many of
you already know that I m famous for the mystical experiences I ve had with Jesus and God in
the past. Perhaps you ve read my book? The Book of Margery Kempe? Yes, I Margery Kemp,
got the opportunity to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. There s over
thousands of beautiful artwork, one visit won t suffice. I was captivated by everything I saw, but
I was especially drawn into the magnificent gallery number 305. From the moment I stepped into
gallery 305 I felt some sort of connection. The timeframe of the artwork was relatable, the setting
was familiar, and the feeling was purely magical. The sounds, oh the sounds, they reminded me of
my church back home. It was angelic music, soft and heartfelt. It was the kind of music that drew
hearts in, as it drew mine back in the days. It was the same music that gave me a feeling of
encouragement to carry out the ways of God; the same music that made me want to repent from
my sinful ways in business and day to day wrongdoings. The walls were tall and the ceiling had
tinted windows. On the sides, there were glass windows made of numerous beautiful colors. They
had images of people in them, just like the windows had back home. Many of the images on these
glass windows were of people I knew, priest, pastors and saints. Gallery 305 felt like home from
the moment I stepped in. It depicted the common holy church for

workouts.
With additional compatibility for previous versions, the application will be created on the latest
version of the Androidв„ў Package Index.

For every technology which is used within the application a prototype is going to be built to
become familiar using the technology. Since the prototypes are only used to work with the
technology and to test some situations, these prototypes do not have a user friendly and well
designed interface implemented.
At the end of each section, the impact on the methodology, specification and planning is discussed.
Additionally the time which was needed to lower the probability of the risk is going to be
compared to the estimated time which was declared in the Project Definition Report.
The source code for every application with additional explanations is available within the
appendices. 2.Risk 1 Unable to create a database design/structure
The implementation of a database is one of the most important features for the application because
many features depend on the values which are stored in the database or depend on storing values
within the database. This is why the impact of the risk on the success of the application is declared
as high.
Becoming familiar using the SQLite API for Androidв„ў is the purpose of the sample application

Internet plays a huge paper in the news and communication field, due to the fast, free easy and
accessible way for everybody to look for the last news.
Because of the increase in the use of the Internet, this information media has become one of the
most used information channels over the world. Like everything it has some pros and cons:
On the one hand, if we are in the point of view of the newspaper, we save more because we do not
use any kind of paper neither ink, nor machinery so our costs are minimum. Another good fact, that
has online newspapers, is that you can read the breaking news at the moments that are posted,
without waiting until the next day.
But for people the most important one is that the newspapers are usually free in the
Internet that is why there are more online readers day by day.
Whereas, on the other hand, even though there are not so many bad things we find two of them
that are the most important. The first one is that as online newspapers are free for the readers the
company that manages the newspaper does not win as much as it should before, so the need
more publicity. The other one is that as we said before most of them are free but there are also
some those if you want to read the newspaper you have to subscribe to it.

Coloone Colonel Graff Isolation Quotes
Ender understands that he is being offered a spot in Battle School, but does not know that it is
the beginning of isolation for him. In the beginning, Graff had already planned to take Ender
with him to Battle School and in order for that to succeed; Graff had to persuade Ender that he is
making his family s life harder. They look at you and see you as a badge of pride, because they
were able to circumvent the law and have a Third. But you re also a badge of cowardice, because
they dare not go further and practice the noncompliance they still feel is right. And you re a badge
of public shame, because at every step you interfere with their efforts at assimilation into normal

shows that Colonel Graff is forcing him to only depend on himself. What Ender also doesn t know
is that his enforced segregation is becoming a tool in the hands of the officers. They obviously

The Battle of Stalingrad Led to a Significant Loss to the...
Stalingrad was a battle during World War II started on June 22 1941 that eventually led to a
significant loss to the Axis forces. The battle started as retaliation from Adolf Hitler after his
defeat in the Battle of Barbarossa. The Battle of Stalingrad was a battle of pride, morale and not
based off of any tactical or strategic advantage. The battle raged on in four main operations that
lasted only 199 days. This loss in Stalingrad dealt a significant blow to the Axis Powersthat would
lead to the overall defeat of Adolph Hitler and his military during World War II. Operation
Barbarossa; initiated by the Axis powers and they quickly advanced deep into Russia. The Axis
Powers believed they could defeat the Soviet Unionas soon as the winter had passed but they began
receiving heavy attacks during the winter with as much as 65% of the infantry being attacked.
The Axis Powers had time to re equip and rest their forces prior to the end of the winter. Moscow
was the end state for the operation and the Axis Powers used a Blitzkrieg style of warfare to
attack the least obvious Point of Entry. Adolph Hitler expected the Soviet Union to surrender as
soon as the end state became successfully captured. Hitler understood that taking Moscow would
be very costly to his Armies. Hitler developed a plan to cut the Soviet Union of their fuel by taking
the Caucasus Oil Fields. Operation Blau had the goal of capturing the Caucasus oil fields then

Effect Of Smoke Regulation On Hospitality Industry
INTRODUCTION:
Scientific research article should be presented as logical arguments and in such a way that
sequence of the article sections will correspond to a model or chain of reasoning that applies to
such article (Krathwohl, 2009, P.62). However, the research article by Hyland, et al (2003) does
not seem to have the framework or follow this model or organized in chain of reasoning sequence
/format for some reasons best known by the authors . Beside, Krathwohl, (2009) pointed out that
this chain chain of reasoning model applies differently to preplanned and emergent studies.
The authors justification of the need for the study, including the degree to which the authors
synthesized and critically analyzed existing research to show that this study is the next logical step
in the line of research.
Hyland, et al (2003) wanted to carry out this research because they believed that there was gap in
the previous studies which policy makers, tobacco industries and restaurant owners cite while
making arguments that smoke regulation in hospitality industry will hurt their business and
decrease revenues. They implied that complicity and conflict of interest between the researchers
and stakeholders in hospitality industry together with tobacco industry might have influenced the
research results which lead to the conclusion that smoke free regulation in the hospitality industry
will negatively impact their sales and revenues. The authors also suggested that data collection

Consumerism In Children
Introduction
When I was two years old my mother enrolled me in gymnastics. Gymnastics was a huge part of
my life for the next four years. After moving up to be with the fourteen and fifteen year olds my
mother realized that something was not right, because I was having body issues at the age of six.
In the text How Do Our Children Get So Caught Up In Consumerism by Brian Swimme he
addresses the issue of how deeply affected the children of America are due to consumerism. Unlike
Swimme I do not believe that all of children s psyche problems come from ads or television. I think
they also come from people who our children highly trust. Although Swimme is right ... Show more

I wanted to look like the beautiful people on television so badly that I compromised my health for it.
Argument
Although ads and the media play a big part in the psyche of children, people with influence over
our children also play a major part. Swimme said in his quotation So as we soak it all up, it sinks
down deep in our psyche. And if this takes place in the adult soul, imagine how much more
damage is done in the psyches of our children, (148) this goes both ways between ads, media, and
parents/trusted people in children s lives. Swimme says An ad s job is to make us unhappy with
what we have. which is exactly what they are doing. They use pictures of unrealistic looking
models to make children, especially little girls, feel bad about the way they look. My coach used
the same tactics on me. He made me feel unhappy with the way I looked so I strived to look like
the older girls did, tall, pretty, and most of all, slender. The media uses shows like Americas
Next Top Model (ANTM) to show that skinny is the way to be. On this show in particular, only
the skinny girls making it to be ANTM. That is exactly how my coach made me feel. He made
me feel like if I was not skinny enough I would never make it to the Olympics no matter how good
I was.
Objection
Even though people that children trust can have a big influence on their lives the media can also.
One of the ways the media affects children are with images. Even though

Pros And Cons Of Open Carry Laws
Do you know of any cities that allow open carry laws? The ones that do probably have a reduced
rate in crime right? Well if you guess yes then you re right. According to a 2000 Analysis of FBI
data crime in cities with a open carry law deterred crime. Murders were reduced by 8.5%, rapes
were reduced by 5%, assaults were reduced by 7%, and robberies were reduced by 3%
(Concealedguns.procon.org). These rates went down because a citizen was able to handle the
situation faster than 911 could. You might think that these percentages are lousy because you
might be here with a higher expectation but that makes up a grand total of 23.3% of overall
violence reduced. That means just over a quarter, 1/4th, of overall violence was reduced. You can

Medical Laser Equipment
INTRODUCTION
This Paper analyzes the Case 16: Medical Laser Equipment. Some of the given facts are as follows:
Order is set to every Monday which means an annual total of 50 orders No. of Periods= 250 Days
Annual Demand = 166 Units Average Inventory= 5 Units Order Cost = $95 Stock out Cost= $250
Holding Cost = 50% * $1,000 = $500 Capital Cost = 10% Handling Cost= 15%Obsolescence= 5%
Storage Cost= 20%
We started the case analysis by the normality test for the current data to check if the data is
normally distributed or not. Our objective is to calculate the current Total Cost and then come up
with a better solution to lower the cost.
As a result, we have developed two scenarios, both of them reveled ... Show more content on

of Orders
( I ) М… = Average Inventory
DDLT = Demand During Lead Time
SS = Safety Stock
ROP = Re Order Point
CURRENT SITUATION
In the current situation, the order is set to every Monday which means a total number of 50
orders for the whole period, and the average Inventory calculated from the given data is 5 units.
Therefore, total cost of the current situation calculation will be as follows: q=50 Orders C_P=$95
C_H=$500 ( I ) М…=5 Units
гЂ– в‡’ TC=(CгЂ—_P*q)+(( I ) М…* C_H)=(95*50)+(5*500) =4,750+2,500 =$7,250
PROPOSED MODELS
In line with our objective, we proposed two different models both resulted in reducing the total
cost. Proposed scenarios are: Scenario I:Using Economic Order Quantity Concept Scenario II:Using
McLaren s Order Moment Concept
Below are the details of each scenario.
SCENARIO I: ECONOMIC ORDER QUANTITY EOQ
EOQ as described everywhere is the order quantity that minimizes total inventory holding costs
and ordering costs. It is one of the oldest classical production scheduling models . This model uses
the following assumptions: The ordering cost is constant which is in our case is $95. The rate of
demand is known and normally distributed which have been proved by the normality test presented
above. The lead time

Conformity Orientation In The Luncheons
My last concept is conformity orientation: refers to how strongly a family enforces the uniformity
of attitudes, values, and beliefs (page 323). The scene that ties to this concept is the second
luncheon we see with Leigh Anne. In this scene, there is a second luncheon with Leigh Anne,
Beth, Elaine, and Sherry, and this scene is incredibly different from the first luncheon we see in
the movie. The women now know that Michael is living with the Touhy s and they noticed on the
Touhy s Christmas card that Michael was also in the picture. Of course, there were some rather
rude comments made about how big and dark Michael looks next to the familythat I am sure Leigh

Medvec and colleagues set up the hypothesis that man can be ashamed to the extent of
committing suicide just because they have come in second placed. The fact of defeating the

The variables of the study are the person s expectations and personal satisfaction of the

the runner s up is not satisfied with the outcome of the race and

Professional Inhletes And Professional Athlete
Have you ever thought about how much money professional athletes make? Do you think they
make too much? Professional athletes get paid way more than the average person. Alex
Rodriguez, who played for the New York Yankees, made the amount of money it would take to
feed a country s poor for an entire year, and yet he used steroids to make him better. (Bhagat) The
amount of money players make is absurd to some people, but the team s ticket sales and
merchandise sold means more money for them. (Callahan) The very people who complain about
the players making too much buy those stuff from them. Professional athletes salaries are a lot
greater than the average person. According to Bustle.com, Tom Brady made $14,800,000 in the
2014 2015 season. An average Massachusetts teacher only makes $72,129 a year. That is just
how much Brady made from his contract with the Patriots. He also had many sponsorships and
partnerships with big companies like Under Armour and Aston Martin. (Source 4) Even the
President of the United States only makes $400,000 a year. He makes many big decisions for
our country and yet he makes a small percentage of what professional athletes make. (Bhagat)
Remember all those players back in the day that were known as some of the best? Do you think
they got paid as much as the best players right now? The amount of money that Cristiano Ronaldo
makes is tremendous. He currently makes $36 million dollars a year. Pele, a well known Brazilian

Masculinity And Women
What does it mean to be male or female? To you, masculinity is probably playing sports, drinking
beer while watching football games, and wearing a suit and tie. Masculinity is probably short
hair and bulging muscles. To you, femininity is probably dressing up in fancy dresses and
jewelry, putting on a face of makeup, and going to the nail salon. Femininity is probably long,
flowing hair and a slender body. This is not the truth, however. These images have been fed to us
by society since the day we were born. Society has created these idealistic men and women. A
world in which the men go to work at the factory and the women stay home with the children.

Whis is it considered humorous when men dress up as women or women dress up as men? Why
is it considered wrong for a person of a certain gender to wear the clothing of another? Why is it
that these people these other human beings are taunted for being themselves? The answer to
that is simple. These innocent actions are perceived as disgusting and wrong in the eyes of
society. The arrogance of society has prevented us from pursuing something that would
guarantee happiness. They would rather ridicule us than allow us to disturb their perfect little
world. Thousands of us hide away in the shadows of anxiety instead of revealing our true self
because we know how society would react. They would reject us and isolate us until we revert
back to a state of reservation. There is still have hope, however. In the past few years, many male
celebrity role models have revealed to dress up in women s clothes or take on a role in which they

Everyone has something to give. What is given can be quantified in many different ways. Some
people give ideas. Some people give their loyalty. For others, their effort and hard work. Few
though, are able to give what men like Andrew Carnegie were able to give; hope. That hope,
however, came in the form of money. Building wealth is no easy task but givingthat wealth away
for the benefit of society, is the ultimate good that can be done with it. Carnegie wasn t the only, or

Alternative Sources Of Energy For Renewable Energy
Abstract
Majority of electricity generated in New Zealand are mainly from renewable source of energy that
are naturally occurring. These source of energy are not consumed when converted hence they will
not be depleted, and they are constantly reusable and replenish naturally. Increase in research and
investment toward renewable energy will benefit New Zealand society as it will generate less
pollution, and more jobs opportunities will emerge. Furthermore it will benefit New Zealand by

Switching Technology For A Network
Switching Technology
Cassandra Anton
Bellevue University Abstract
Switching is a technology that has been used since the first communication networks were
invented. In order to understand switching, we must first discuss switches. A switch is a device
that connects other devices on a network. Switches can also prevent bad packets from spreading
by not forwarding them on. While switches can be helpful to a network they should not be seen as
an instant fix for network issues. There are many benefits to using network switching in a network.
A switch can break one large network into smaller networks so that the distance limitations are
restarted. By creating the smaller networks traffic is isolated, reducing collisions. It can ... Show

In a full switched network, hubs are not used. Instead, switches are used with a dedicated segment
for every node. In this type of network the switch picks up every transmission before it reaches
another node. Since any segment only reaches a single node, the frame only reaches the intended
recipient. This allows many conversations to happen at the same time. Switching also allows a
network to maintain full duplex Ethernet, which allows information to travel from node to switch
and switch to node at the same time. Most networks do not exclusively use switches because of
the costs involved with replacing all hubs. A combination of switches and hubs are typically used
to create an efficient and less costly network (Tyson 2001).
When switching on layer 2, there are three important functions that a network administrator should
remember. The first, address learning, is when layer 2 switches retain the source hardware
address and port interface it was received on. It is then entered into a MAC database called a
forward/filter table. The second, forward/filter decisions, is when a switch looks at the destination
hardware address and finds the interface it is on in the filter table. It then chooses the correct exit
interface for it in the MAC database. Finally, loop avoidance. When redundancy creates multiple
connections network loops

On Truth And Lies In A Marginal Sense Analysis
Over 140 years ago, you published a work called On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral Sense. In this
essay, you detailed how words should not be taken at face value, because words are just
metaphors for something more. You may be aware that in the current political climate, the
phenomenon of fake news has arisen. Many websites, newspapers and apps publish articles
containing fraudulent information with the goal of deceiving readers or causing a spectacle. The
idea in your essay that deception is necessary (because it is everywhere) is beginning to be echoed

sites and make them more careful about how they get their news. In the 21st century, people are
keenly aware of the information they take in, so far so that often pick and choose what
knowledge they chose to believe. Likewise, as explained in On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral

on acquiring knowledge far more than anything else in the world. I have noticed that currently
people are so invested in becoming more intellectual that they often lead themselves down the

Social Themes In Cry, The Beloved Country By Alan Paton
Cry, the Beloved Country by Alan Paton In the novel, Cry, the Beloved Country by Alan Paton, it

Water And Sanitation Of Canada
Due to the location of Canada, they retain a large amount of fresh water, 20% to be exact (Water
2012). However, even with the large percentage only 7% of the renewable freshwater and most

Canadian population lives along the southern border with the United States and which creates the

As this hard to reach water reaches the cities or towns, municipal water supply only accounts for

Characteristics Of Bilbo In The Hobbit
Bilbo Baggins is the last being in The Hobbit to be considered a monster. J.R.R. Tolkien made
sure to depict Bilbo as an innocent, loving, and merciful being. However the reader cannot deny
the fact that he possesses some characteristics of a monster. Dating back to the 1300s, monsters
have been defined as people whom are of abnormal form and structure. It can be argued that every
species, besides the humans, are monsters, including Hobbits like Bilbo. Furthermore Bilbo is
unlike a typical Hobbitthanks to his Tookish lineage; therefore he is even more abnormal. Their
neighbors, in part because of their wealth, have always respected the Bagginses but also because
they never bother anyone (pg 3). Bilbo eventually loses all respect of... Show more content on

As seen in many monster stories throughout history, such as Bisclavret and Beowulf, monsters
also live in isolation. Bilbo is no different. Hobbits are inherently known to remain in the
confines of their homes at all costs, as it provides a sense of comfort and security, similar to the
role the woods play for Bisclavret. Tolkien describes, on page 4, how Bilbo s parents settled in
their hobbit hole and remained there until their deaths, which is also where Bilbo continues to
live (pg 4 5). Even after begins his journey alongside the dwarves, he longs to sit in his home by
the fire. In addition to being isolated homebodies, Hobbit s are very fond of food. It is said that
Hobbits are inclined to be fat in the stomach (pg 4). Their gluttonous tendencies plague Bilbo
through his travels as he constantly dreams of food. The outward appearance of Bilbo and his need
to live and eat separate from the world provides for a surface level analysis of Bilbo Baggins as one
of the monsters of The Hobbit.
It is important to remember that not all monsters are evil or act on malicious intent. Likewise,
even though a character isn t demonic doesn t mean he isn t still a monster. Bilbo never behaves
in an inappropriate manner, and is in fact the protagonist of The Hobbit. Jeffrey Jerome Cohen
provides two theses from his article Monster Culture that satisfies Bilbo s character. Thesis #2: The

2006). When the hospital conducted its inventory their expenses for their supplies were way
underestimated by about a million dollars (Apollo Group, 2006). So this had to be added on as a
cost to December s statement. This underestimate of supply expenses made January to November
s reports not correct, so December had to report the actual figures (Apollo Group, 2006).
Therefore, December looked like it was a crazy month for the hospital. Following the favorable
settlement of some managed care contract disputes, net patient revenue increased by 9% over the
previous year, with an average

Emotions In A Tale Of Two Cities
Duff Brenna states, All literature shows us the power of emotion. It is emotion, not reason, that
motivates characters in literature. In other words, feelings are what essentially drives a character
and influences their actions. This statement is evident in the novel, A Tale of Two Cities by Charles
Dickens, through the feelings and actions of Sydney Carton and Charles Darnay, whom clearly
depict this idea.
In the novel, A Tale of Two Cities, one of the major characters who supports the conception of
feelings influencing one s actions was shown by Sydney Carton. Sydney was generally an
unhappy, unconfident and a fairly depressed individual who felt like he didn t have a purpose in
the world. One of his actions that was a reflection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Darnay was a upright, honest and kind hearted individual who got stuck in numerous situations,
that he didn t necessarily take part in. A reflection of his feelings of graciousness was when he
was willing to return to Paris just to save Gabelle. Despite all of the trouble and inconveniences
he would have to encounter, he was still willing to go and help Gabelle. Another action that
reflected Darnay s honest emotions was when he told Dr. Manette who he really was, an
Evermonde. No matter how terrible his family name was and how ashamed he felt, he came
through with his true identity. Leading me to my third example, another depiction of Darnay s
upright feelings was when avoided affiliation with France and the Evremondes barbarous ways and
previous conflicts by leaving France to go to England because he disliked the French aristocracy
and the Evermonde name so strongly, and simply detested affiliation with such a cruel family and
lifestyle, because he was not that type of person. Undoubtedly, Charles Darnay frequently had his
actions affected by his different feelings and emotions throughout the entire novel. As Duff Brenna
once said, All literature shows us the power of emotion. It is emotion, not reason, that motivates
characters in literature. In A Tale of Two Cities, two significant characters, Sydney Carton and
Charles Darnay often had particular

Theme Of Resilience In Defending Jacob
Resilience is defined as the quality that allows people to be knocked down and come back
stronger than ever. Resilience is demonstrated throughout the novel Defending Jacob by William
Landay, and the ancillary texts If by Rudyard Kipling, and The Third and Final Continent by
Jhumpa Lahiri though different literary devices. The similar conflicts of Defending Jacob and
Third and Final Continent help develop a theme of resilience throughout the stories. Another
literary device that helps to show this theme in Defending Jacob and If is point of view. Finally,
the theme is displayed once more in the novel and Third and Final Continent through the use of
characterization. The theme of keeping one s head through troubled times and not giving up is
developed through the use of conflict, point of view, and characterization in Defending Jacob, If ,
and The Third and Final Continent . Both William Landay and Jhumpa Lahiri use conflicts in their
stories to demonstrate the theme of resilience and perseverance. William Landay uses the conflict
of Andy s belief in his son and Lahiri uses the narrators will to be successful as those characters
motivation to continue working for what they believe in. Andy and Laurie s visit to Dr. Vogel
shows the beginning of a conflict in Defending Jacob. So? So what does shoplifting have to do
with murder? What s the difference if he took a candy bar or something from CVS? What on
Earth does that have to do with Ben Rifkin being brutally stabbed to death? (Landay 146). Andy
Barber never once stops believing that his son is innocent, even after this leads to fights with
Laurie and could potentially lead to divorce. However he fights for Jacob and he knows they will
get through the trial. While Andy Barber s conflict and perseverance is more mental, the narrator
of The Third and Final Continent has a more physical conflict he must overcome. The theme of
resilience is also developed in this text when the narrator is telling his son about his life at the end
of the story. Whenever he is discouraged, I tell him that if I can survive on three continents, then
there is no obstacle he cannot conquer (Lahiri). These words of wisdom demonstrate resilience
because the

Passover Through Storytelling
Storytelling is a common theme in the human experience. Almost all civilizations have a tradition
of storytelling whether it be folk tales used to teach lessons or stories used to remember the past.
Storytelling is important to Judaism as it is used to recount Jewish history and to teach new
generations about the past to create a better future. Oral tradition and the Torah are used to help
discuss the past. In fact, the Torah itself is storytellingin written form used to preserve history and
traditions. Jewish communities also use storytelling to discuss and debate the past and how it
affects life today. For example, the meanings and rules illustrated in the Torah are often discussed
to determine how they relate to current issues. To do this, the older generations use storytelling
and the Torah to teach the new generations about the history of the Jewish people. Stories are used
to explain the world and to teach people morals and lessons so they can pass them onto their
children. This plays a role in Jewish history and traditions, including Passover. Storytelling is a
significant part of the significance and celebration of Passover. Storytelling is important to the
meaning and celebration of Passover.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Passover is based on the story in Exodus. The Israelites were enslaved in Egypt then Moses led
them out of Egypt after the last plague. The night before, Jewish people rapidly prepared to
leave. They sacrificed a lamb and put blood on their doors to protect them. They also made
unleavened bread because they did not have time for it to rise. Moses led them safely out of
Egypt, where they were freed from slavery and developed their new identity as a nation. Passover
is centered around the story of Exodus. Thus, Passover celebrates the liberation of the Israelites and
the birth of their independent

Neuromancer And The Matrix Analysis
William Gibson s Neuromancer, and The Matrix by The Wachowskis both depict a society in which
humans are under constant manipulation by indispensable machines. In Neuromancer, the
protagonist Case is indirectly manipulated by a powerful Artificial Intelligence named Wintermute.
In The Matrix, majority of the human population lives within a computer simulated world, run by
machines. However, both storylines depict the fact that manipulation is more abundant than is
often seen, as both protagonists are more frequently under the influence of other humans.
Neuromancer and The Matrixboth demonstrate the nature of manipulation, and explore the fact that
individuals are oblivious to the manipulation that they face.
Manipulation is ubiquitous. Throughout the movie, the Matrix is presented to the audience as the
as the only source of manipulation, What is the Matrix? Control (The Matrix). The perspective
shown to the audience implies that the robots are the only manipulative force present within this
society. Morpheus introduces Neo to the concept of the Matrix, by saying You are a slave, Neo
(The Matrix) and further explaining it as A prison for your mind (The Matrix). However, even
once Neo has been freed from the matrix, he remains susceptible. Neo is constantly being
manipulated by both the Oracle and Morpheus. The oracle is able to manipulate Neo into saving
Morpheus by telling him he was not The One . In doing so, she prevented Neo from becoming
arrogant, and careless,

Empty Hands Summary
Empty Hands is the memoir of Sister Abegail Ntleko, and it is a great story of how hard work
and determination can help anyone make their dreams come true no matter the difficulty.
Ntleko had a rather humble beginning. She grew up without much money in a community
where education for young girls was not common or deemed necessary. Young girls were raised
caring for the household and were expected to be married off at a young age to do the exact
same thing for the rest of their lives. Her father had the same mindset, and it took years and a
meeting with the community chief for him to allow her to enter the first grade at age 14.
Because Ntleko s mother was no longer with her, members of the village would often visit her and
help her with things she needed. Mrs. Mckechnie was one of them who made a lasting impact on
Abegail. She encouraged her to get education, and that is what she went on to do. After elementary
school, she could no longer afford the requirements, so she ran away to work for a family, and it
wasn t until she had enough money saved up to afford schooling that she returned home. With the
helpof Mrs. Mckechnie, she was able to complete high school and even nursing school. After
becoming a certified nurse, Ntleko was bringing in steady income and began adopting children in
need. She also began acquiring different certifications such as psychology and ophthalmology that
would later help her be of service to various different communities. Her first community

Their Eyes Were Watching God Coming Of Age Examples Various novels can be classified as coming of age texts, this means that these are stories about a protagonist s transition from childhood to adulthood or just growing up even as an adult. These novels show their growth and change in character over the length of the text. Novels such as The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger, The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, and Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston are all examples of coming of age novels. In Zora Neale Hurston s Their Eyes Were Watching God the story is focused on Janie Crawford and her growth over the course of the book. Their Eyes Were Watching God is a story that follows protagonist Janie Crawford, through many hardships, relationships, and adventures. As Janie Returns to her hometown in Florida after a long absence the novel is a recollection of her experiences and adventures to her friend Pheoby Watson. One of the most important advantage of employing in house staff it is their level of investment into our organisation. Employees are feeling proud of the work they perform on an everyday basis, they take ownership of their responsibilities, and they then carry out. They can go that extra mile and push themselves more as they feel involved and a part of the team. By hiring outsource staff, we cannot expect the same level of involvement and integration. • 6. Racism In Friday Night Lights Racism was a consistent theme throughout the entirety of Friday Night Lights (2015) and was intertwined with many of the issues and concepts discussed here. Odessa held onto its racial ideologies for much longer than it should have, even with Federal lawsuits against them (Bissinger, 2015; pg. 107 Coakley, 2015; pg. 227). These beliefs were deeply held and acted upon that they still were intact even after the desegregation of the schools. The Southside of Odessa had been and continued to be classified as the low income and minority side of town where the blacks and Hispanics lived, while the East side was for the wealthy and white citizens. The railroad tracks that ran through the heart of town served as the divider for this segregation, or as Lanita Akins called it: The American version of the Berlin Wall (Bissinger, 2015; pg. 99). The physical separation wasn t the only racial issue that Odessa had. Blacks and Hispanics were both quite underrepresented in Permian High, only making up about 31% of the student body (Bissinger, 2015; pg. 175). He carefully led his horse down a path within the evergreen forest of black rock, covered with pine trees, but also with oak and elder trees. He has been around this path many times before and maybe even too much as the curious souls began to wonder why a boy of such a noble status would wander in the deep forest of black rock. Not a lot of people spent time in forests, at least not too far away from the main rocky road, made for horses, merchandises, and peasants on foot. People would not wander too far in the forest, because of the obvious fear of wild animals, especially during winter. But they were also avoiding another threat. And that threat was a human threat also known as Willem the Druid, who was a feared and at the same time a much venerated man because of his knowledge of medicine and herbs. He was also rumored to know magic, and this was perhaps what made him such a dreadful person. But Ayland had this thing about him; which was that he feared no one since he was also certain that he was to become King, one day. This assertion was not born out of a pretentious, motherly molded dream, but by the fact that he was an ambitious and great risk taker. Qualities he would share with his mother. Masculinity is probably short hair and bulging muscles. To you, femininity is probably dressing up in fancy dresses and jewelry, putting on a face of makeup, and going to the nail salon. Femininity is probably long, flowing hair and a slender body. This is not the truth, however. These images have been fed to us by society since the day we were born. Why is it that these people these other human beings are taunted for being themselves? The answer to that is simple. These innocent actions are perceived as disgusting and wrong in the eyes of society. The arrogance of society has prevented us from pursuing something that would guarantee happiness. They would rather ridicule us than allow us to disturb their perfect little world. Thousands of us hide away in the shadows of anxiety instead of revealing our true self because we know how society would react. They would reject us and isolate us until we revert back to a state of reservation. There is still have hope, however. Switching Technology For A Network Switching Technology Cassandra Anton Bellevue University Abstract Switching is a technology that has been used since the first communication networks were invented. In order to understand switching, we must first discuss switches. A switch is a device that connects other devices on a network. Switches can also prevent bad packets from spreading by not forwarding them on. While switches can be helpful to a network they should not be seen as an instant fix for network issues. There are many benefits to using network switching in a network. A switch can break one large network into smaller networks so that the distance limitations are restarted. By creating the smaller networks traffic is isolated, reducing collisions. It can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a full switched network, hubs are not used. Instead, switches are used with a dedicated segment for every node. In this type of network the switch picks up every transmission before it reaches another node. Since any segment only reaches a single node, the frame only reaches the intended recipient. This allows many conversations to happen at the same time. Switching also allows a network to maintain full duplex Ethernet, which allows information to travel from node to switch and switch to node at the same time. Most networks do not exclusively use switches because of the costs involved with replacing all hubs. A combination of switches and hubs are typically used to create an efficient and less costly network (Tyson 2001). When switching on layer 2, there are three important functions that a network administrator should remember. The first, address learning, is when layer 2 switches retain the source hardware address and port interface it was received on. It is then entered into a MAC database called a forward/filter table. The second, forward/filter decisions, is when a switch looks at the destination hardware address and finds the interface it is on in the filter table. It then chooses the correct exit interface for it in the MAC database. Finally, loop avoidance. When redundancy creates multiple connections network loops ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In other words, feelings are what essentially drives a character and influences their actions. This statement is evident in the novel, A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, through the feelings and actions of Sydney Carton and Charles Darnay, whom clearly depict this idea. In the novel, A Tale of Two Cities, one of the major characters who supports the conception of feelings influencing one s actions was shown by Sydney Carton. Another action that reflected Darnay s honest emotions was when he told Dr. Manette who he really was, an Evermonde. Leading me to my third example, another depiction of Darnay s upright feelings was when avoided affiliation with France and the Evremondes barbarous ways and previous conflicts by leaving France to go to England because he disliked the French aristocracy and the Evermonde name so strongly, and simply detested affiliation with such a cruel family and lifestyle, because he was not that type of person. Resilience is demonstrated throughout the novel Defending Jacob by William Landay, and the ancillary texts If by Rudyard Kipling, and The Third and Final Continent by Jhumpa Lahiri though different literary devices. The similar conflicts of Defending Jacob and Third and Final Continent help develop a theme of resilience throughout the stories. Another literary device that helps to show this theme in Defending Jacob and If is point of view. Finally, the theme is displayed once more in the novel and Third and Final Continent through the use of characterization. The theme of keeping one s head through troubled times and not giving up is developed through the use of conflict, point of view, and characterization in Defending Jacob, If , and The Third and Final Continent . Both William Landay and Jhumpa Lahiri use conflicts in their stories to demonstrate the theme of resilience and perseverance. William Landay uses the conflict of Andy s belief in his son and Lahiri uses the narrators will to be successful as those characters motivation to continue working for what they believe in. Andy and Laurie s visit to Dr. Vogel shows the beginning of a conflict in Defending Jacob. So? So what does shoplifting have to do with murder? What s the difference if he took a candy bar or something from CVS? What on Earth does that have to do with Ben Rifkin being brutally stabbed to death? (Landay 146). While Andy Barber s conflict and perseverance is more mental, the narrator of The Third and Final Continent has a more physical conflict he must overcome. The theme of resilience is also developed in this text when the narrator is telling his son about his life at the end of the story. Whenever he is discouraged, I tell him that if I can survive on three continents, then there is no obstacle he cannot conquer (Lahiri). These words of wisdom demonstrate resilience because the ... • 44. Empty Hands Summary Empty Hands is the memoir of Sister Abegail Ntleko, and it is a great story of how hard work and determination can help anyone make their dreams come true no matter the difficulty. Ntleko had a rather humble beginning. She grew up without much money in a community where education for young girls was not common or deemed necessary. Young girls were raised caring for the household and were expected to be married off at a young age to do the exact same thing for the rest of their lives. Her father had the same mindset, and it took years and a meeting with the community chief for him to allow her to enter the first grade at age 14. Because Ntleko s mother was no longer with her, members of the village would often visit her and help her with things she needed. Mrs. Mckechnie was one of them who made a lasting impact on Abegail. She encouraged her to get education, and that is what she went on to do. After elementary school, she could no longer afford the requirements, so she ran away to work for a family, and it wasn t until she had enough money saved up to afford schooling that she returned home. With the helpof Mrs. Mckechnie, she was able to complete high school and even nursing school. After becoming a certified nurse, Ntleko was bringing in steady income and began adopting children in need. She also began acquiring different certifications such as psychology and ophthalmology that would later help her be of service to various different communities. Her first community ...
