Nt1310 Unit 8 Network Components
This assignment will be mainly about network components and how do they operate,
what are their functions and what are their flaws.
Question 1a) A bridge is a type of device that enables the connection with other
bridge networks that uses the same protocol. Bridge operates at the data link layer
which the PDU layer is called as Frame . This allows the two or more different
networks to communicate to each other and exchange information if the users wish
to. They are also known as layer 2 switches as the data link layer is located at the OSI
layer 2.
As for the functions, bridging devices inspects incoming network data whether to
forward to the end user or to discard it.
There are two different types of network bridges. Wireless bridges and Wi FiEthernet
bridges. Wireless bridges support Wi Fi wireless access points. Which I will not...

Abraham and Moses Essay
Abram is presented to us as an old man without an offspring or heir. He is at the
age of seventy five when God comes to him with the offer of the covenant.
Abraham stands for devotion, justice, compassion, faith, tact, and personal integrity.
He is also seen as cunning, humorous, and pragmatic throughout the story. Abram is
a man looking for his faith, and God asks Abram to leave his land and kinship to a
land which God will show him. In exchange for Abram s faith and compliance, God
will make of Abram a great nation, make his name great, bless those who bless him
and curse those who curse him, and finally all the communities of the Earth will find
blessing in him.
The covenant is a basic understanding between Abram and God that ... Show more

Abraham found out that this was God s final test before the covenant was finalized.
God told Abraham that all his people must look to God as their god, and that all the
boys must be circumcised on the eighth day after their birth. If Abraham would fulfill
his part of the covenant, God would provide Abraham with the lands of Canaan.
Abraham must have faith in God throughout his journey because the God he speaks
to asks him to leave his lands and kinsfolk to go to a promised land that Moses has
never seen nor heard much about. God promises Abraham many things which were
unbelievable or impossible without divine intervention, so Abraham s faith is always
being tested. Abraham knows that his legacy will never continue without an heir, so
his faith lets him continue and believe that he will still have a son even after he has
aged so much. Another reason why Abraham must have faith is that the people
following him have faith in Abraham. If at any time Abraham loses faith, he will not
only risk breaking the covenant with God, but he will also be letting down all the
people who had faith in him.
The story of Abraham changed the way the Hebrew people thought about time. The
Hebrew people began to think of time as cyclical. Each cycle was begun with the
promise of what is to come, and ended with the fulfillment of this promise and the
need of a new promise. This fits in with the stories of the Prophets, as the coming of

Multiobjective Planning of Recloser-Based Protection...
In the last years, distribution automation has gathered a significant relevance in
distribution systems planning and operation. The network operator (NOp) looks for a
suitable configuration of the feeder topology as well as the system, pursuing the
reliability enhancement and a full energy demand supply. Nevertheless, an efficient
protection system requires an adequate investment in such devices as reclosers, fuses
and sectionalizers. Thus, two conflictive objectives arise, namely, NOp investment
minimization and reliability maximization.
In this sense, the number and location of devices in the system are critical variables
to accomplish preceding objectives. Here, we focus on recloser based protection
systems.
Specifically, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, it is necessary to apply metaheuristic approaches.
The remainder of this paper is organized as follows. In section II efficient planning
of NCRs by applying a multiobjective optimization approach is described. The
optimization problem formulation is presented in Section III, along with objective
functions details. Section IV presents the MOEAs to solve the multiobjective
optimization problem. Here, the revised non dominated sorting genetic algorithm
(NSGA II), and non dominated sorting differential evolution (NSDE) are detailed.
The test system is given in section V, and simulation results are provided in section
VI. Finally, conclusions are drawn and future research is suggested.
II. MULTIOBJECTIVE OPTIMIZATION APPROACH
In most real world optimization problems the solution must to be found considering
multiple objectives instead of one.
Whereas these objectives are often in conflict, a trade off relation among them
arises. that is, it is necessary to sacrifice the performance of one or more objectives
to enhance the other ones. Let us consider, in the context of this paper, the
decisionmaking involved in the sizing of the protection system and the placement of
NCRs. The amount of protective devices in a DS can vary from any recloser to a
few. Let us take two extreme hypothetical cases: 1) non branch has the
Microsoft Powerpoint
Microsoft PowerPoint
Microsoft PowerPoint, usually just called PowerPoint, is a non free commercial
presentation program developed by Microsoft. It is part of the Microsoft Office
suite, and runs on Microsoft Windows and Apple s Mac OS X operating system.
The current versions are Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2010 for Windows and
Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2011 for Mac.
History
Originally designed for the Macintosh computers, the initial release was called

to problems with trademarks, the idea for the name coming from Robert Gaskins.[2]

There are no compelling results to prove or disprove that PowerPoint is more
effective for learner retention than traditional presentation methods.[9] The effect on
audiences of poor PowerPoint presentations has been described as PowerPoint hell.
[edit]Criticism
Although PowerPoint has the aforementioned benefits, some argue that PowerPoint
has negatively impacted society. The terms Death by PowerPoint and PowerPoint
Hell refer to the poor use of the software. Many large companies and branches of the
government use PowerPoint as a way to brief employees on important issues that they
must make decisions about. Opponents of PowerPoint argue that reducing complex
issues to bulleted points is detrimental to the decision making process; in other words,
because the amount of information in a presentation must be condensed, viewing a
PowerPoint presentation does not give one enough detailed information to make a
truly informed decision.
A frequently cited example is Edward Tufte s analysis of PowerPoint slides prepared
for briefing NASA officials concerning possible damage to the Space Shuttle
Columbia during its final launch.[10] Tufte argues that the slides, prepared by the
Boeing Corporation, had the effect of oversimplifying the situation, and provided
false assurance that the ultimately fatal damage to the shuttle was only minimal.
Tufte argued:

University Development throughout the Lifespan The development of our
personalities throughout our lifespan can be broken down into various stages when
considering Erikson s approach to psychology development. Each person moves
through these stages during life, which directly affects his or her success in the next

People are motivated by behaviors and actions. I believe this to be very true; when
I am around smart productive people then I feel smarter and more productive. On
the other hand, when I hang around lazy people then I want to be lazy and not do
anything and this serves as a turning point for slow personal growth. Movement
through Erikson s stages directly affects people s success in the next stage. In a
nutshell, a person must deal with a conflict until it is resolved with the major
events and then they can move on to the next stage in the lifespan successfully.
Both theories are providing valuable information on how a person progresses
through the stages of life and deal with conflict. Freud had some very valid points;
however not everything is related to the basis of sexuality. Erickson explains his
theory in a more articulate manner by expanding on how conflict is present and a
person must resolve them successfully to continue onto the next stage while
formulating a healthy personality to confront and master new challenges during the
lifecycle. For example, while I was growing up, I had experienced many crises as
each stage of my life not that I knew of them back then, but in hindsight I see how
that solving my crisis at each stage influenced my personality, which made me the
successful person I am today. Another example is watching my

The High Cost Of Samsung s Competition In The
Electronics...
After a little over a decade since its establishment, Samsung, who was once a small
business focusing on exporting perishables is now one of the biggest manufacturing
company in the world that revenue of over $167 Billion. From an economic
perspective, as technology changes becoming more efficient, it gives other companies
the ability to compete in manufacturing the products. As the electronics industry
continues to grow, more companies are competing with Apple. As of today, Samsung
is one of the largest competitors to Apple. Both companies are trying to win the
technology market, especially smartphones since they launched their own line of
smartphones Samsung Galaxy in June 2009 and the iPhonein June 2007.
One of the reasons Samsung s still in this game of tug of war with Apple is
Samsung s capability in manufacturing their own components for the Galaxy
smartphones. This gives them a rather strong grasp on cost advantage compared to
Apple. Even Apple uses a Samsung manufactured processors, NAND flash and
DRAM memory chips since the beginning (Forbes, 2016), which is why we see a
rather higher selling price for Apple s iPhone due to their cost to their supplier,
Samsung. One way for Apple to win over this is to attract Samsung loyal customers,
who are said to be more price conscious, by creating an inexpensive iPhone in a long
run like the iPhone 5c that was discontinued at the end of 2015.
However, even if Samsung had this cost advantage over Apple, Apple is still

The Tokyo Railway Station Building
The Tokyo railway station building is located in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan in the
Marunouchi business district. The station which acts as Tokyo s main intercity
terminal is served by the Tokyo Metro network, Japan Railways regional commuter
lines as well as the Shinkansen high speed railway lines. The Tokyo Station also has a
reputation of being the busiest station in the country, judging by the number of trains
it serves per day; approximately three thousand trains in one day. Furthermore, the
trainstation has a hotel and gallery within its premises. In terms of architecture and
historical culture, the station actually has a long history that dates back more than a
hundred years, thereby making it one of the one of the few major examples of
buildings designed in classical style remaining in Tokyo, and Japan as a whole.
Chronicle information of the building Even though the Tokyo Station was
constructed in 1914, its actual plan is connected to the history of Japan s rail in the
1880s (Ito n.p). It is therefore viewed by the Japanese as being significant in the
advancement of rail technology and as a symbolic structure within Japan. By 1885,
several railway tracks were already passing through Tokyo, thereby necessitating the
need for a central terminal to be built in the region between Ueno and Shinbashi. The
station which was to accommodate Tokyo s entire network was simply referred to as
the central terminal (Ito n.p). The project for the Tokyo Station was first offered

Vegetarians Vs. Fad Diets
How will you feel after gaining back the weight you spend money toward? Well,
Fad diets have been around for a very long time, based mostly on half truths and
wishful thinking of the authors. Some may have a bit of science to back them up,
but the diets are so restrictive and difficult, no one can stick to them. Losing
weight temporarily on a fad diet does not equal success. Diet success is defined as
keeping that weight off permanently. If a fad diet is impossible to follow for very
long, you ll just re gain all the weight. And much of the weight lost on extremely low
calorie fad dietsis water. UCLA associate professor of psychology and lead author

society is not just a need but a necessity. The passerby years have envisaged a series

quality of life by improving the quality of healthof the masses. There are several
reasons for the renaissance in the last decade. The most important ones include

Another definition of Public Health in the 21st Century is, The totality of all
evidence based public and private efforts that preserve and promote health and

The UK s Faculty of Public Health defines Public Health as the science and art of
promoting and protecting health and well being, preventing ill health and prolonging
life through the organised efforts of society. Health promotion is the key element of
public health practice.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says public health systems are
complex and require the coordination of multiple organizations. Incredibly diverse

everyone understand the importance of health promotion and disease prevention.

Negative And Negative Effects Of Marijuana
Negatives of Marijuana Marijuana is a dangerous drug and should not be
legalized. Marijuana can damage lungs, it can affect cardiovascular shape and it
puts you at higher risk for heart attack or stroke, raises blood pressure and many
other harmful effects. You can also end up getting addicted to marijuana
(Watson4). It s a very dangerous drug especially if driving. There are many DUI s

marijuana is illegal in almost every state. Nevertheless, the number of teenagers

Childhood obesity, it s our tsunami, it s our Katrina. (Sanders Butler). Childhood
obesity has become a key problem in American society. More children are obese in

the amount of sugaringested daily in various foods. Schools all over the country are

Health problems related to sugar do not just stop at obesity. Studies have shown
that sugar can weaken the immune system. Vitamin C is essential for the health of
humans. During the 1970 s a study proved that white blood cells need vitamin C to
destroy bacteria and viruses. Because glucose and vitamin C have a similar
chemical makeup the two substances compete with each other to enter the white
blood cell. If this leaves a shortage of vitamin C and too much glucose the immune
system s way of fighting disease is slowed down or weakened. In addition, sugar
can increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia is a condition in which the
body s blood sugar drops lower than normal levels. Risk of hyperglycemia, which is
the opposite of hypoglycemia in which the blood sugar is too high, can also
increase. It also increases bad cholesterol. Sugar is also known to weaken the
eyesight, decay teeth, and lead to a mineral imbalance.
Everybody knows sugar and children do not mix. Children have a hard time focusing
in school under normal circumstances, but when sugar is added to the equation it
makes focusing and learning a whole lot harder. Sugar can affect the children s ability
to concentrate. It effects normal kids, and has a devastating effect on children with
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Studies have shown that after

Chris Kyle, the deadliest excellent shooter in U.S. military history, is born and
raised in Texas. He grows up hunting with his father, and develops a strong sense of
duty to his country. In 1996 he signs up for the U.S. military, and is recommended

wants to send out and use to the Middle East as soon as possible. In the end, it takes

Air Safety Essay
How Safety Management Systems Can Make Aviation Safer
Commercial aviation already has a safety record, which every other mode of public
transport would be proud. In both 2014 and 2015, according to the past two annual
editions of the annual ICAO Safety Report, programmed which probably or certainly
stemmed from intentional acts resulted in more victim in crashes of commercial
aircraft with certificated maximum take off weights of more than 5,700kg than did

Meanwhile, the rate of accidents fatal and non fatal alike in 2015 attaching
scheduled operations of such aircraft reduced 7 per cent from 2014, from 3.0 to 2.8
accidents per million departures. In all chance, this was the lowest annual accident

Such providers include aircraft fullers, caterers, baggage handlers and other aviation
ground handling companies.
SMSs are of key importance because they work in four ways to handle aviation safety
and its development. Now, they establish organisational structures by which aviation
organisations can establish safety policies and responsibility including creating
normal safety management oversight roles and hiring educated, experienced
personnel to fill them.
Second, SMSs formalise the management of safety risks by guide with procedures
and processes for find potential and actual problems, determine safety risks and then
reduce them. Reduction is performed by reporting of safety risks and taking active
or passive measures to reduce each risk to a reasonable level and potentially
removing risks totally.
The third role of SMSs is to provide guarantee that safety is being maintained. Each
aviation group s SMS does this by making benchmarks of safety measurement and
monitoring the firm s safety performance to conform its safety performance continues
to meet these benchmarks.
If its safety performance does not continue to meet the organisation has produced
benchmarks, then previously established formal procedures are put into effect to
bring the organisation s safety performance back up to the given standards.

Wrinkle In Time
In the book A Wrinkle in Time, written by Madeleine L Engle, a young girl goes on
an adventure with her little brother, her friend, and three magical creatures. The
science fiction novel focuses on Meg Murry, an awkward and impatient high school
student, who sets off on an adventure to rescue her missing father from a giant
disembodied brain named IT. She is accompanied by her extraordinary younger
brother Charles Wallace, Calvin O Keefe, a popular and athletic boy that goes to her
school, and three celestial beings named Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which.
Three important elements of the story are the characterization, setting, and theme.

shows how important love is in the story, it is what Meg, the protagonist, has that
IT, the antagonist, doesn t. And it is that love that allows her to defeat IT and save
Charles Wallace. The gentle words, the feeling that this beast would be able to
love her no matter what she said or did, lapped Meg in warmth and peace. She felt
a delicate touch of tentacle to her cheek, as tender as her mother s kiss. (183) This
shows that, no matter what Meg does, the beast, who Meg calls Aunt Beast, will love
her. This also shows the importance of unconditional love and loving despite
Constellations Character Analysis
Constellations, an absurdist and post modernist performance by the Queensland
Theatre Company, perceptively explored what the play s title suggests; a group of
stars forming a recognizable pattern. More plainly, though, it revealed that fate will
prevail. This was evident through the relationship of characters Marianne and Roland
s, where conflicting predicaments of their romantic connection were explored in
many alternate universes that each aligned with each other and correlatively led to
the same destiny. Particularly, this concept encompasses the ideal that we have the
timewe ve always had. There s not going to be any more or less of it. As such, roles
and relationships, time, tension, movement and symbols were prevalent elements...

Within each universe, a particular scenario was repeated, and their relationship was
pictured in a different light each time. However, in each of these instances, their
connection was still intact; reinforced by the final scene in which they always
remained together. This concept of fate is reflected through various scenes, one of
which being Marianne and Roland unexpectedly running into each other at a dancing
class. In one scenario, Marianne told Roland that she was rehearsing for her own
wedding; and, then, on another occasion, she was simply there for a friend. In both
predicaments, though, their connection was undeniably present. Having not seen
each other for quite some time, there was easily a sense of tension that dominated the
mood, and in effect revealed that their love for one another was still present; that the
romantic tension was so powerful that Marianne and Roland s purest feelings were
awaiting to burst. For each universe, they were both standing a few meters apart; a
form of emotional friction that cemented their undying love. They, too, used the same
voice inflections in every replay of this particular scene; a tone that was awkward and
unsettled. This, in correlation with the characters staging and movement, displayed
that Marianne and Roland s connection was bountiful in each universe. Despite the
universes portraying a diverse

Jason has been having a lot of issues having some of his own time. Why you may

homework is the leading cause of stress. As it should be known students should not
be assigned homework. Homework decreases the time students have for extra

Iran As A Case Of Iran
Iran as a case Iran is a controversial country that has complicated issues with the
international community regarding its own nuclear program. Obviously, Iran is an
Islamic country that has strict rules, and low level of freedom. In terms of religion,

population in Iranare following the Shia branch which is a branch of Islam. Religion

Iran is widely diversified in terms of ethnicity; Persian ethnicity is considered to be
the highest with 61 percent of the population while only 16 percent is Azeri(Turkic

a language that is close to Turkish people, which is quite surprising with that high
percentage (20%) On the other hand, Other groups fill out the other 20 percent
including Arabs, Kurds, and Baluchis. While the majority of the population in Iran
follows the Shia Islam, some ethnic groups follow Sunni Islam. In my opinion, a
good example that demonstrate the ethnic divisions is the Kurdish people, they are
Sunni, and they are facing sort of discrimination due to their beliefs. The Kurdish has
a problem with the Iranian regime since 1979 when they made a huge protest and a
guerrilla war against the regime, and they controlled many northern cities. I think the
reason for the Kurdish movement in the eighties and nineties is the discrimination
against them because most of the Iranian regime leaders are from the Shia branch. In
addition to that, I think the tension between Sunni and Shia is an ethnic conflict that
associated with many political, economic aspects, but the most important aspect is
the religion beliefs with Sunni and Shia people that
The Importance Of Nonbal Communication
Non verbal Communications. Non verbal Communications is an essential aspect of
cross cultural business communication is non verbal communication. Non verbal
communication used more often than verbal communication, as approximately
seventy percent of our conversation is non verbal. Non verbal communication can
take the form of eye contact, the firmness of a handshake, the speaker distance, facial
expressions, touching and hand gestures are all critical factors to consider when
approaching international business assignments (see Appendix B). A non verbal
behavior can cause mixed signals and misunderstandings, which do not reflect well on
a representation of the company. Eye contact and eye movement have very different
meanings across cultures. In North Americawhen doing business with a client, it is
courteous to establish eye contact, which shows the client you are listening to his
opinions and proposals (Sweeney Hua, 2010). However many cultures differ in the
way eye contact is considered respectable. Various researchers have conducted to
identify the different methods that should intertwine within the speech, gestures,
facial expressions, and body language. In Mexico, for example, looking someone in
the eye can be regarded as aggressive (especially among males), and flirtatious when
made between men and women. In Mexico, look at clients near the eye, but not
actually in the eye (Mintu Wimsatt et al., 2002). Many North Americans who do not

The Role Of Irritable Bowel Disease ( Ibd )
Although the gut microbiota are involved in a range of functions within the human
body, this essay will focus on their role in the development of Irritable Bowel
Disease (IBD). The human gut microbiota play a significant role in the metabolic
health of individuals with irritable bowel diseases such as Ulcerative Colitis (UC)
and Crohn s Disease (CD). IBD, UC and CD are chronic gastrointestinal illnesses, all
of which have an uncertain etiology. Symptoms of these illnesses can include
diarrhoea, weight loss, ulceration, proliferation and even total obstruction of the
gastrointestinal (GI) tract. (1). However the causes of these diseases are not strictly
known(2). There are a vast number of bacterial species that reside within the GI tract,
some of which can play a role in producing inflammation. It is believed that microbial
patterns may play a role in causing IBD. The innate immune systemmay play a role in
altering the gut microbiota profile. Certain pathogens have also been found to play a
role in the development of IBD. Finally, diet and nutrition play a role in IBD,
however certain nutrients are believed to have both positive and negative effects.
This essay will aim to critically explore what is responsible for IBD: both internal and
external factors that influence the human gut microbiota, and hence trigger IBD, or
more specifically; an abnormal immune response in a vulnerable individual, or a
deviation in immune function that leads to an altered immune response
Ducati Group s Strategic Plan
Before to Ducati s acquisition by Texas Pacific Group, a deep financial crisis affected
Ducati, undermining its production and consequently negatively affecting its market
results. Production was less than production capacity and therefore it was clear that a
relaunch of the company was necessary. The strategic plan carried out by Ducati
Group, with the help of newly appointed Minoli, focused on the idea of increasing the
company s value through a growth in turnover volume and protection of product
profit margins. One of the most interesting aspects of the changes embraced by the
Ducati, is the restructuring of the production system which began in the mid 1990s in
order to maintain the product margin and increase the level of sales and turnover.
Minoli found three things at Ducati when he arrived:
good products: unique and beautiful bikes, although regarded as less efficient and
reliable in comparison to Japanese models
top notch engineers: both in R D and for the racing division
a brand with a strong potential: in most European markets, Ducati s brand recognition
and loyalty was the highest in the motorcycle industry.
First, the aspiring team started off the transformation of Ducati s strategic plan by
creating what was called the World of Ducati , to support and develop the brand.
This started with the decision to build a museum, in order to show that Ducati was
more than a motorcycle company; Ducati was a dream and a passion. Through this

The Greenhouse Movement Helps
There is a quote by a man named David Battisti, who directs the UW s Earth
Initiative. Director Battisti stated, average global temperatures for the past million
years have never been more than 2 4 degrees higher than now. If greenhouse
emissions continue unchecked, temperatures would likely be higher by the end of
this century than any time since the human species evolved. (Doughton). In a
nutshell, David is saying that there is no way to predict the height climate changecan
grow to if left unchecked. Since temperatures have never reached past a few
degrees, how can predictions be made to see what catastrophes may befall us in the
event of temperatures reaching higher than they have ever been? Today information
will be presented to show what happening to our planet, then more information will
be given concerning statistics to show how living a green lifestyle can benefit our
environment. Earth is getting hotter. Almost every scientist agrees with this
consensus. In fact with the dozen climate models in use today, almost all predict
average temperature increases of about 3 11 degrees by the end of the century. This
doesn t seem too bad though, but keep in mind that it only took a drop of 10 degrees
to encase much of North America in mile deep glaciers during the ice age(Doughton).
Earth heating up can result in many different national calamities. One big disaster
that can somewhat correlate with rising temperatures is wildfires. They match up

The Most Important Contributions Of Zheng He
Zheng He
The most important contributions that he did in his lifetime are all the expeditions
that he lead over most of Asia, and eastern Africa. He went on seven voyages in
total, on all of them he would always return to China with some goods or gold, but
in some cases he had to use violence. He entered the army at a young age, which
made it the perfect choice to be his adulthood career.
When He was born his parents named him Ma He which is Chinese for Muhammad,
but when he became the commander in chief he changed his name to Zheng He. China
was reconquered by the generals, and troops of Ming dynasty in 1381, at the same
time he was ten years old.Zheng He was chosen by the emperor of china to go on a
journey called the Western Ocean which began around 1405 which later was known
as his first voyage. He left China with 27,800 men and 62 ships. Zheng He s vessels
visited Siam now Thailand, the island of Java, Malacca now Melaka, and Champa
now the southern part of Vietnam. Then through the Indian Ocean to Calicut now
Kozhikode on the Malabar Coast of India and Ceylon which now is Sri Lanka. After
Ceylon he went back the China around 1407.
For his second journey he left in 1408, he went to Calicut again, then he stopped in
Chochin which is Kocki along the cost of the south. However, during his visit in
Chochin King Alogonakkara of Ceylon attached Zhang s troops, but in the end he
defeated Alagonakkara s troops. After Zheng s troops beat Alagonakkara s troops,
they took the king of Nanjing as a prisoner of war on his return to China which was
in 1409 only one year after he left. After that expedition he went on another journey
october later that year. On his third expedition in October 1409 this time he gone
further than he ever had, he sailed to Samundra on the northern tip of Sumatra. After
he got there he collected some goods, and gotten lots of gold. He returned back to
China in 1411 from his longest and most successful expedition yet.
In 1413 Zheng He left China to take off and start his fourth journey, he went went to
the main ports of Asia like what now is Malaysia, Thailand, North Korea, and Iran.

Negative Effects Of Stress
According to a poll, about one in every four Americans (about sixty million people)
have claimed to have encountered some stress this past month (Whyte n.p.).
Sometimes, the intensity of stress causes anxiety or frustration. Which is why for
the most part, stress is taken as a negative impact on an individual. Whether that
stress comes from school, money, environment, work or all of them, everyone
walks the same path of stress sometimes without even realizing it. Although many
people perceive stress in a negative way, there s some surprising benefits of stress
that we are not aware of. It all comes down to the basic element of what stress is.
Stress is an anticipated feeling someone gets when they get into any trouble or
difficulty. The human body reacts physically to any stressor that comes across. For
example, our body has two important systems that play a role sympathetic nervous
systemand parasympathetic system. The parasympathetic system is known as a rest
and digest response in which hormones send adrenaline and other transmitters to your
body. On the other hand, the sympathetic nervous systemis known as a fight or flight
response in which it uses that adrenaline in order to react quickly. Therefore, both
these symptoms react to any stressor that can prepare the human body for anything
that might come across, physically and mentally. (Grant n.p.) Stress can benefit us in
many ways. For one, it can help humans increase their cognitive learning and
Examples Of Stereotyping And Prejudice
About Stereotyping and Prejudice
Prejudice of any kind implies that you are identified with the thinking mind. It means
you don t see the other human being anymore, but only your own concept of that
human being.
To reduce the aliveness of another human being to a concept is already a form of
violence.

When and why we in stereotype?
In the first article that I decided to review (Staple Noordewier, 2011) they went
through a series of correlation and experimental studies concluded that system
justification motives result in stereotyping and the motive behind it is the need for
structure. They also mention the fact that people who feel part of unjust systems are
also more likely to engage in stereotyping and the impact of system justification threat
on stereotyping disappears when the desire to justify the system is satisfied through
an alternative route.
The system justification theory, described in this article, proposes that when people
stereotype they aren t just healing or preserving their selves but are instead providing
justifications for the social structure they belong to, and their believes that the world
is just and legitimate. But why this need for a justification? Simply because systems
provide structure and humans need that

The proof is that there was a trial for German physicians who conducted these human
experiments on concentration camp prisoners which were prosecuted as war
criminals. Until now, the society still continue to discuss if it is acceptable in the
medical community to consider the medical research data that were collected during
these experimentations. Even some of these experiments had legitimate scientific
purposes, the methods used violated the canons of medical ethics. Others were racial
in nature, designed to advance Nazi racial theories. Most were simply bad science.
Additionally, some believe there are major ethical problems with using the data
collected in this unethical manner. Once a decision to use the data has been made,
experts suggest that it must not be included as ordinary scientific research, just to
be cited and placed in a medical journal. I agree with author Robert J. Lifton who
suggested that citation of the data must contain a thorough expose of exactly what
tortures and atrocities were committed for that experiment. Citations of the Nazi
data must be accompanied with the author s condemnation of the data as a lesson in
horror and as a moral aberration in medical science. The author who chooses to use
the Nazi data must be prepared to expose the Nazi doctors immoral experiments as
medical evil. I suggest that if I was a judge that time, I had most definitely torture the
Germans in the same way as they tortured Jewish people. According to the philosophy

and control establishes the base upon which the remaining joint functions are
integrated to achieve unity of effort and mission success. The remaining joint
functions provide the militarycapabilities for battlefield success. Commanders adept at
integrating and synchronizing the joint functions in joint operations will achieve
unity of effort and mission accomplishment.
To utilize military force, a commander must effectively operate the force and generate
combat power. 1 The commander uses command and control (C2), one of the most
critical of the joint warfighting functions, to accomplish this. C2 involves the
authority and responsibility to use assigned and attached forces and resources for
mission accomplishment.2 The approach for command
A Web On The Deep Web

Deep/Dark Web
The Deep Web is a term that refers to a number of websites that are invisible to
everyone. You cannot find these websites using a search engine, in other words a
place where google does not go. The Deep Web makes up about 96% of the internet
while the other 4% is the Surface Web. The Surface Web includes sites such as;
Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, or any website you can find through a search engine. A
lot of illegal activity takes place within the deep web. Child pornography, human
torture, killings, illegal goods and services are available to view or purchase on the
deep web, making the Deep Web possess the largest black market ever to exist.
The creation of the Deep Web was in 1994. Back then it was known as the hidden
web. The terms Deep Web and Dark Web came up in 2001. Though, some people
believe the origin of the term Deep Web goes back to the early 1990s along with
the creation of Onion Routing. No one knows exactly how big the deep web really
is, but we know it is hundreds of times bigger than the Surface Web. The data
within the Deep Web isn t necessarily hidden on purpose. Current search engine
technology find it very hard to make sense of it, therefore, it makes the sites seem
hidden. The Dark Web on the other hand is darker than the Deep Web. Users bury
data intentionally on the Dark Web. The Dark Web requires a special browser to
access some of parts of it.

Auditory Behavior
2.Topic: Development of Auditory Behavior
Hearing Sensitivity is the ability to detect acoustic energy and the most basic auditory
function. Infants hearing sensitivity at birth is typically significantly worse than
adult thresholds. To measure hearing sensitivity in adults, you perform a routine
audiogram, but infants are not mature enough for this kind of testing, so we use
Observer Based Psychoacoustic Procedure or OPP. It was first used by Lynne
Werner to study auditory behavior in young infants. For this test, the infant and their
caregiver are in a room with a test assistant keeping child engaged. The adults have
headphones on so they don t hear the stimuli and give any hints to the child as are
presented through the loud speakers. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children need higher signal levels to detect the presence of sound. Higher frequencies
become adult like before lower frequencies, because in humans there is a high
frequency first maturation pattern. The Olsho et al. 1988 article plots the differences
in thresholds between adults and 6 8 month infants, and the differences between
adults and 10 12 month infants. They measured these results in sound field and under
headphones. Thresholds under headphones are better because infant thresholds are
better under headphones because of the size of their ear canals. It is important to take
this into account when fitting hearing aids. This study also revealed that thresholds
were closer to adult threshold at 10 12 months than at 6 8 months. Researchers have
explained the mechanisms underlying the differences through the development of the
auditory system. The cochlea is mature at birth, so it is not responsible for the
difference in infant and adult thresholds. Until a person is 11 years old, their ossicles
are ossifying and their cavity is improving, so your conductive apparatus is not fully
mature until then. This causes major improvements from infancy to adulthood.

Summary Of Last Child In The Woods
Throughout history, humans have had a strong reliance on nature and their
environment. As far back as historians can look, people have depended on elements
of nature for their survival. In the past few decades, the increased advancement of
technology has led to an unfortunate division between humans and nature, and this
lack of respect is becoming a flaw in current day society. In Last Child in the Woods,
Louv criticizes modern culture by arguing that humans increasing reliance on
technology has led to their decreasing connection with nature through the use of
relevant anecdotes, rhetorical questions and powerful imagery to appeal to ethos.
Louv develops his argument by using insightful anecdotes that allow him to become
more relatable to the reader. He relays a story about his friend s experience of being
pushed to buy multimedia entertainment products by a car salesman selling her a
luxury car. This anecdoteis enhanced by a hyperbole to describe how the car
salesmen s jaw dropped when she decided to draw the line. The use of the anecdote
makes Louv seem more personable to any parent who desires convenience because it
shows that he understands the appeal of such luxuries, but he continues by showing
everything the child is losing from not observing the natural landscape and
experiencing the real and physical world. This anecdote allows the reader to
experience the same feelings that the friend may of felt in that situation. This makes
the argument a more relatable
The Analysis of Mozart s Dies Irae Essay
Megan Stewart
Theory III: MUSI 2311
Dr. Brian Bondari
December 13, 2010
The Analysis of Mozart s Dies Irae The final composition of Mozart, The Requiem
mass in D Minor, containing Dies Irae, is known to be one of his most powerful
and commended works. This piece was composed in 1791 while Mozart was,
unfortunately, on his death bed. However, he was unable to complete it so it was
then passed on to his assistant and later finished by this man. The choral work can be
very dark, for it concerns the Day of Wrath, when God will return to this earth and
pass judgment on all creatures that remain, either granting them salvation or perpetual
damnation to hell. This theme alone provides one with fear, thus it can be assumed
that even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In two different cases, relatively close together in the music, he uses a secondary
dominant to embellish the regularity of the effect. However, in these two different
cases, the chords shift slightly, as shown in measures 52 and 55, pictured below. V
/IV I V6/5/IV IV Despite the fact that the V/IV is basically a I7 chord, theory students
of modern teachings have been taught that the chord after the slash mark of the
secondary dominant is where the secondary dominant will lead to. So, creating a
simple I chord in the figure above might be seen as a little misleading. His is seen
as more traditional in the sense of good music theory practice, but regarding that it
is Mozart s piece, it is safe to say that both will work just fine. Mozart likes to add
color to his compositions by also using Neapolitan chords. He effectively uses
them as both a passing function as well as a neighboring function. In the example
provided above, Mozart cleanly exercises the passing rule of the Neapolitan 6th
chord. Refer to Figure 2, measures 36 and 37: D Minor: V7 i i N6 ( in passing
function) в—¦7 Mozart clearly integrates the Neapolitan chord correctly, in the
practical theory sense, and also very well in the application of the passing function.

A Family Of Five Were The First Group Shot
A family of five were in the first group shot. A gray haired elderly woman cradled a
baby. The child couldn t have been more than three months old. She was singing and
tickling the little one to keep her from crying. The baby cooed with delight. Everyone
was standing around with tears in their eyes.
A father holding the hand of his six year old spoke softly to him. The boy wept
from fear. His father stroked the boy s head and pointed to the skies. It was as
though he was explaining something to him. The machine guns opened up. They and
others fell backward into the dry riverbed.
There was an elderly frail snow white haired woman. Others helped her undress to
the shouts of the insurgent s to hurry up. Two young women helped carry her to her
place in line in front of the makeshift grave.
A young couple held each other tightly. Their wedding day was the following
weekend. Looking into each other s eyes, the man spoke tenderly to her. He told her
about how their families had arranged a nearby hotel for their honeymoon. Now they
lay together in a cold, uncaring hollow in the ground. About thirty people at a time
they led to the slaughter.
When the little girl s turn, came. As she made her way to the pit, she saw a mound
of bodies tightly wedged together. In the distance, she heard screams from other
people being killed a little way away. The terrorists dragged their blood covered
bodies over to the riverbed and dumped them in on top of the others.

What Does Gold Symbolize In The Great Gatsby
In the movie, The Shining, Stanley Kubrick uses shades of red and blue to
symbolize innocence and perniciousness. In the beginning of the film, the owner of
the Overlook Hotel wears a dark blue jacket with a deep crimson tie as he informs
Jack Torrance of the macabre past of the hotel. In the following scene, Wendy
Torrance, Jack s wife, wears a bright, colorful blue dress with a vibrant red shirt and
socks while discussing the positive side of Jack s outbreak against his son. Similar to
Kubrick s use of colorin The Shining(AdvSC), F. Scott Fitzgerald uses the colors
yellow and gold to symbolize new and old money. Both authors use similar, but
different colors as a symbol to display the relationships between both themes. Gold
represents old... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Nick first arrives at The Buchanans s, he admiringly points out the line of
French windows, glowing now with reflected gold (6). Fitzgerald uses the imagery
of glowing...with reflected gold to create an image of wealth and power. The
reflected gold contrasts the authentic, traditional old money, to the new money that
does not contain any real substance. Moon glistening(AbP), Nick walks around at
Gatsby s first party with Jordan s golden arm resting in [his] (33). The diction of
golden arm to describe Jordan demonstrates her true old money ways as even she
gives off a golden hue. As a professional golfer, her golden arm also represents her
success and riches from being an esteemed athlete. Fitzgerald uses this diction to
repeat the description of old money being gold, as Jordan is a prime example of
old money because of her inherited wealth and acceptance into the old money
social class (AdvSC). Later in the novel, after Gatsby wittingly remarks that Daisy
s voice is full of money, Nick describes her as the golden girl (90). The diction that
Daisy s voice is full of money exhibits that Daisy s money was not something she
gained, but something she was born with, a chief trait of old money (AbP). The
juxtaposition of Gatsby calling her voice full of money and Nick then dubbing her
the golden girl repeats the symbol of gold to represent money and wealth. Fitzgerald
describes old money throughout as the color gold, symbolic of their genuine and
distinguished wealth

Inflation Targeting
It widely recognized that the monetary policy within a country should be primarily
concerned with the pursuit of price stability. However, it is still not clear how this
objective can be achieved most effectively. This debate remains unsettled, but an
increasing number of countries have adopted inflation targeting as their monetary
policyframework. (Dr E J van der Merwe, 2002) This topic of Inflationtargeting is a
subject which immediately conjures different perceptions from different people.
Many feel that low inflation should be a main aim of monetary policy, while others
(such as trade union activists) believe that a higher growth rate to stimulate jobs
should be the main concern.
In order to understand what inflation targeting is ... Show more content on

This is due to the structured decision making process of the framework. Thirdly,
the central banks (Reserve Bank) accountability is improved along with discipline
toward the monetary policy. (Dr E J van der Merwe, 2002) This is because clear
targets are set which the Reserve Bank is forced to meet. Finally, due to the targets
set because of the policy, expectations arise which facilitate a reduction in inflation.
If these targets set are credible, they form the basis for future price and wage setting.
(Dr E J van der Merwe, 2002)
Advantages of inflation targeting
Inflation targeting has numerous advantages as a strategy for monetary policy.
Unlike an exchange rate peg, inflation targeting enables monetary policy to focus
primarily on domestic considerations and to respond accordingly to the domestic
economy. (Mishkin F, 2000). Inflation targeting has the advantage that a stable
relationship between money and inflation is not critical to its success. The strategy
does not depend on this relationship, but rather uses all available information to
determine the most appropriate settings of the inflation rate for the monetary policy.
(Mishkin F, 2000) Inflation targeting also has the key advantage that it is easily
understood by the public and is thus highly transparent. As an explicit target for
inflation is created,
Biblical Flood Myth of Genesis and the Flood Myth of the...
The Flood of the Bible and the Flood of Gilgamesh The story of Noah s Ark, as told
in the old testament, tells how God punished the world because it had become
corrupt. God accomplished this by flooding the world, and annihilating all the
creatures upon it, except for Noah and his family and a pair of each type of
creature on the earth. Each decade, more insight is gained into the origin of the
flood story. Based on the information available at the present time, one could argue
that the story of Noah s Ark was based on the Epic of Gilgamesh. The story of Noah s
Ark was first written as part of the old testament by the Jewish people. However, it is
predated by far by the story of the Epic of Gilgamesh, a story that... Show more

The dimensions of the ship underwent some drastic changes however, quite
possibly because the dimensions of Gilgamesh s boat were rather unreasonable:
Equal shall be her width and her length... . Both Gilgamesh and Noah received 7
days notice, and after the flood ceased, both employed doves and ravens as scouts
to determine if the land was dry yet (Gilgamesh also employed a swallow, but the
results of its trip did not greatly differ from the first trip of the dove in Noah s tale
). After the flood waters recessed, and the ships were able to empty their contents,
both Noah and Gilgamesh also offered sacrifices to their respective gods, Noah
with burnt offerings and Gilgamesh with a libation he poured on the mountainside
where his ship came to rest. The other really large change was that God showed
some signs of remorse and sorrow in Noah s tale, opposed to Gilgamesh s tale,
where God showed little involvement beyond the initial instructions and the flood
itself. It was Gilgamesh alone who displayed sorrow for the loss of his people. The
shift of sympathy from Gilgamesh to God, however, does good to accommodate
the Christian and Jewish perspective of a loving and forgiving God, who would
only sweep the world of his own creations at a deep sentimental price. This idea is
further confirmed by his promise never to commit such an act again after the flood
ceases: Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every

he refuses himself to cry at his mother s funeral or to grieve for her death. There are

He chooses to observe events to getting precisely attached; one chapter in the book
that stood out was the part where Meursault spends a whole day just relaxing on
his front porch watching as passers go by in the street. Even though when
Meursault is precisely involved in the events, he is incapable of getting caught up
in them. When his girlfriend Maria Cardona, asks him to marry her, he tells her
that he doesn t love her but that it makes no difference to him if they get married or
not. Even at the point in which he killed the Arab, there was a sense that he wasn t
really there, that he really wasn t doing what he is doing. It all looked as if he was

How Sports Has Changed My Life
Hi, I m Meggan. I m a freshman at Minot State and majoring in Elementary
education. I brought some things in today to tell you a little bit more about
myself. But first I m going to tell you why I decided to carry them in this bag. I chose
to carry my items in this duffle bag because I and many others use a duffle bag when
you re in a sport. Sports have always been a huge factor in my life and in my family.
Close to everyone in my family has played a sport and we all watch them too. We are
anywhere from basketball to baseball fans and everything in between. A very close
family friend of ours, Gary Cederstom, is a professional umpire so, we ve been to a
multiple MLB games as well as an All Star Game where he was the crew chief
calling the balls and strikes behind the plate. I myself played softball and volleyball
in high school as well as golfing every once in a while with my grandpa. So now that
I ve told you about my bag s significance, I ll tell you a little bitabout what i carried
in it. The first item is something that represents my past. This is a jersey from the
last year I played on a traveling volleyball team. I always loved volleyball growing up
and had my hands on a ball whenever I could. My mom, aunt, and cousin all played
volleyball when they were in high school and since we are all pretty short we were
all setters. Volleyball taught me so many life lessons and created bonds with people I
never thought I would have been friends with. I played for MinotHigh
Outliers Malcolm Gladwell Essay
I place my beautiful Howarth XL gently back in its case. In the lights it shines
brightly, and if the lights hit it just right, it sparkles and blinds. The Grenadilla wood
at first looks flawless and black in color, yet as one peers closer a rich brown color
becomes visible and the wood grains show it is real. I close the case, and as I walk
from the room I turn off the lights. One hour of practice down, thousands more to go.
Or so I am told. I recently read a book called Outliers: The Story of Success by
Malcolm Gladwell. In it Gladwell tells the stories of successful people and explains
how they became successful based on their circumstances, situations, and cultural
legacies. In particular, Gladwell wrote a chapter about what has become to be
known as The 10,000 Hour Rule. This rule states that after 10,000 hours of practice a
person, no matter who they are, will be an expert at that skill. Although I agree with
Gladwell in his knowledge, practice, and a lot of it, is necessary to become an expert
in something, I cannot accept his statement that 10,000 hours ... Show more content

Gladwell never explicitly mentions the type of practice required to achieve
mastery, only how many hours. To support this, he uses examples of Steve Jobs
and his computer skills, and The Beatles, when they would perform many hours a
day early in their career. But practice is not all equal. Deliberate practice is a term
used to describe when a person practices attentively. There is no loss of focus in this
type of practicing and the person often pushes themselves to the limits constantly.
According to a prominent study The Role of Deliberate Practice in the Acquisition of
Janice Harper Health Care
As I was reading about the village and the people in the village in Madagascar, I
really admired Janice Harper the medical anthropologist. The living conditions and
the health of the people really made me think about how fortunate we are in the
United States to have health care. The mortality rate was disturbing with 100
deaths per 1000 people compared to that of the US being 8 deaths per 1000
population (Singer Baer, 2012, p.45). It would be wonderful to be able to go to
different countries to help people improve their health care and provide proper
medical care, but not sure how one deals with the conditions of the different
countries. It definitely takes a special person to be able to deal with the situations
Harper encountered. But, Harper found that even though the children where sick
with bloated bellies, ear infections, scabies and boils, they were still active and
happily playing (Singer Baer, 2012, p.45). This was the children s way of life and

As nurses, we have to be transcultural and put our own beliefs and practices aside,

  • 3. Abraham and Moses Essay Abram is presented to us as an old man without an offspring or heir. He is at the age of seventy five when God comes to him with the offer of the covenant. Abraham stands for devotion, justice, compassion, faith, tact, and personal integrity. He is also seen as cunning, humorous, and pragmatic throughout the story. Abram is a man looking for his faith, and God asks Abram to leave his land and kinship to a land which God will show him. In exchange for Abram s faith and compliance, God will make of Abram a great nation, make his name great, bless those who bless him and curse those who curse him, and finally all the communities of the Earth will find blessing in him. The covenant is a basic understanding between Abram and God that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Abraham found out that this was God s final test before the covenant was finalized. God told Abraham that all his people must look to God as their god, and that all the boys must be circumcised on the eighth day after their birth. If Abraham would fulfill his part of the covenant, God would provide Abraham with the lands of Canaan. Abraham must have faith in God throughout his journey because the God he speaks to asks him to leave his lands and kinsfolk to go to a promised land that Moses has never seen nor heard much about. God promises Abraham many things which were unbelievable or impossible without divine intervention, so Abraham s faith is always being tested. Abraham knows that his legacy will never continue without an heir, so his faith lets him continue and believe that he will still have a son even after he has aged so much. Another reason why Abraham must have faith is that the people following him have faith in Abraham. If at any time Abraham loses faith, he will not only risk breaking the covenant with God, but he will also be letting down all the people who had faith in him. The story of Abraham changed the way the Hebrew people thought about time. The Hebrew people began to think of time as cyclical. Each cycle was begun with the promise of what is to come, and ended with the fulfillment of this promise and the need of a new promise. This fits in with the stories of the Prophets, as the coming of Abraham and Moses can be
  • 4. Multiobjective Planning of Recloser-Based Protection... In the last years, distribution automation has gathered a significant relevance in distribution systems planning and operation. The network operator (NOp) looks for a suitable configuration of the feeder topology as well as the system, pursuing the reliability enhancement and a full energy demand supply. Nevertheless, an efficient protection system requires an adequate investment in such devices as reclosers, fuses and sectionalizers. Thus, two conflictive objectives arise, namely, NOp investment minimization and reliability maximization. In this sense, the number and location of devices in the system are critical variables to accomplish preceding objectives. Here, we focus on recloser based protection systems. Specifically, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence, it is necessary to apply metaheuristic approaches. The remainder of this paper is organized as follows. In section II efficient planning of NCRs by applying a multiobjective optimization approach is described. The optimization problem formulation is presented in Section III, along with objective functions details. Section IV presents the MOEAs to solve the multiobjective optimization problem. Here, the revised non dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA II), and non dominated sorting differential evolution (NSDE) are detailed. The test system is given in section V, and simulation results are provided in section VI. Finally, conclusions are drawn and future research is suggested. II. MULTIOBJECTIVE OPTIMIZATION APPROACH In most real world optimization problems the solution must to be found considering multiple objectives instead of one. Whereas these objectives are often in conflict, a trade off relation among them arises. that is, it is necessary to sacrifice the performance of one or more objectives to enhance the other ones. Let us consider, in the context of this paper, the decisionmaking involved in the sizing of the protection system and the placement of NCRs. The amount of protective devices in a DS can vary from any recloser to a few. Let us take two extreme hypothetical cases: 1) non branch has the

It is part of the Microsoft Office suite, and runs on Microsoft Windows and Apple s Mac OS X operating system. The current versions are Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2010 for Windows and Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2011 for Mac. History Originally designed for the Macintosh computers, the initial release was called Presenter , developed by Dennis Austin[not in citation given] and Thomas Rudkin[not in citation given] of Forethought, Inc.[1] In 1987, it was renamed to PowerPoint due to problems with trademarks, the idea for the name coming from Robert Gaskins.[2] In August of the same year,... There are no compelling results to prove or disprove that PowerPoint is more effective for learner retention than traditional presentation methods.[9] The effect on audiences of poor PowerPoint presentations has been described as PowerPoint hell. [edit]Criticism Although PowerPoint has the aforementioned benefits, some argue that PowerPoint has negatively impacted society. The terms Death by PowerPoint and PowerPoint Hell refer to the poor use of the software. Many large companies and branches of the government use PowerPoint as a way to brief employees on important issues that they must make decisions about. Opponents of PowerPoint argue that reducing complex issues to bulleted points is detrimental to the decision making process; in other words, because the amount of information in a presentation must be condensed, viewing a PowerPoint presentation does not give one enough detailed information to make a truly informed decision. A frequently cited example is Edward Tufte s analysis of PowerPoint slides prepared for briefing NASA officials concerning possible damage to the Space Shuttle Columbia during its final launch.[10] Tufte argues that the slides, prepared by the Boeing Corporation, had the effect of oversimplifying the situation, and provided false assurance that the ultimately fatal damage to the shuttle was only minimal. Tufte argued: The most critical

Each person moves through these stages during life, which directly affects his or her success in the next stage. The personality is being built and shaped at each stage. People are motivated by behaviors and actions. I believe this to be very true; when I am around smart productive people then I feel smarter and more productive. On the other hand, when I hang around lazy people then I want to be lazy and not do anything and this serves as a turning point for slow personal growth. Movement through Erikson s stages directly affects people s success in the next stage. In a nutshell, a person must deal with a conflict until it is resolved with the major events and then they can move on to the next stage in the lifespan successfully. Both theories are providing valuable information on how a person progresses through the stages of life and deal with conflict. Freud had some very valid points; however not everything is related to the basis of sexuality. Erickson explains his theory in a more articulate manner by expanding on how conflict is present and a person must resolve them successfully to continue onto the next stage while formulating a healthy personality to confront and master new challenges during the lifecycle. For example, while I was growing up, I had experienced many crises as each stage of my life not that I knew of them back then, but in hindsight I see how that solving my crisis at each stage influenced my personality, which made me the successful person I am today. Another example is watching my

After a little over a decade since its establishment, Samsung, who was once a small business focusing on exporting perishables is now one of the biggest manufacturing company in the world that revenue of over $167 Billion. From an economic perspective, as technology changes becoming more efficient, it gives other companies the ability to compete in manufacturing the products. As the electronics industry continues to grow, more companies are competing with Apple. As of today, Samsung is one of the largest competitors to Apple. Both companies are trying to win the technology market, especially smartphones since they launched their own line of smartphones Samsung Galaxy in June 2009 and the iPhonein June 2007. One of the reasons Samsung s still in this game of tug of war with Apple is Samsung s capability in manufacturing their own components for the Galaxy smartphones. This gives them a rather strong grasp on cost advantage compared to Apple. Even Apple uses a Samsung manufactured processors, NAND flash and DRAM memory chips since the beginning (Forbes, 2016), which is why we see a rather higher selling price for Apple s iPhone due to their cost to their supplier, Samsung. One way for Apple to win over this is to attract Samsung loyal customers, who are said to be more price conscious, by creating an inexpensive iPhone in a long run like the iPhone 5c that was discontinued at the end of 2015. However, even if Samsung had this cost advantage over Apple, Apple is still

It is therefore viewed by the Japanese as being significant in the advancement of rail technology and as a symbolic structure within Japan. By 1885, several railway tracks were already passing through Tokyo, thereby necessitating the need for a central terminal to be built in the region between Ueno and Shinbashi. The station which was to accommodate Tokyo s entire network was simply referred to as the central terminal (Ito n.p). The project for the Tokyo Station was first offered

The Role Of Irritable Bowel Disease ( Ibd ) Although the gut microbiota are involved in a range of functions within the human body, this essay will focus on their role in the development of Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD). The human gut microbiota play a significant role in the metabolic health of individuals with irritable bowel diseases such as Ulcerative Colitis (UC) and Crohn s Disease (CD). IBD, UC and CD are chronic gastrointestinal illnesses, all of which have an uncertain etiology. Symptoms of these illnesses can include diarrhoea, weight loss, ulceration, proliferation and even total obstruction of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. (1). However the causes of these diseases are not strictly known(2). There are a vast number of bacterial species that reside within the GI tract, some of which can play a role in producing inflammation. It is believed that microbial patterns may play a role in causing IBD. The innate immune systemmay play a role in altering the gut microbiota profile. Certain pathogens have also been found to play a role in the development of IBD. Finally, diet and nutrition play a role in IBD, however certain nutrients are believed to have both positive and negative effects. This essay will aim to critically explore what is responsible for IBD: both internal and external factors that influence the human gut microbiota, and hence trigger IBD, or more specifically; an abnormal immune response in a vulnerable individual, or a deviation in immune function that leads to an altered immune response

Ducati Group s Strategic Plan Before to Ducati s acquisition by Texas Pacific Group, a deep financial crisis affected Ducati, undermining its production and consequently negatively affecting its market results. Production was less than production capacity and therefore it was clear that a relaunch of the company was necessary. The strategic plan carried out by Ducati Group, with the help of newly appointed Minoli, focused on the idea of increasing the company s value through a growth in turnover volume and protection of product profit margins. One of the most interesting aspects of the changes embraced by the Ducati, is the restructuring of the production system which began in the mid 1990s in order to maintain the product margin and increase the level of sales and turnover. Minoli found three things at Ducati when he arrived: good products: unique and beautiful bikes, although regarded as less efficient and reliable in comparison to Japanese models top notch engineers: both in R D and for the racing division a brand with a strong potential: in most European markets, Ducati s brand recognition and loyalty was the highest in the motorcycle industry. First, the aspiring team started off the transformation of Ducati s strategic plan by creating what was called the World of Ducati , to support and develop the brand. This started with the decision to build a museum, in order to show that Ducati was more than a motorcycle company; Ducati was a dream and a passion. Through this Ducati was able to

Director Battisti stated, average global temperatures for the past million years have never been more than 2 4 degrees higher than now. If greenhouse emissions continue unchecked, temperatures would likely be higher by the end of this century than any time since the human species evolved. (Doughton). In a nutshell, David is saying that there is no way to predict the height climate changecan grow to if left unchecked. Since temperatures have never reached past a few degrees, how can predictions be made to see what catastrophes may befall us in the event of temperatures reaching higher than they have ever been? Today information will be presented to show what happening to our planet, then more information will be given concerning statistics to show how living a green lifestyle can benefit our environment. Earth is getting hotter. Almost every scientist agrees with this consensus. In fact with the dozen climate models in use today, almost all predict average temperature increases of about 3 11 degrees by the end of the century. This doesn t seem too bad though, but keep in mind that it only took a drop of 10 degrees to encase much of North America in mile deep glaciers during the ice age(Doughton). Earth heating up can result in many different national calamities. One big disaster that can somewhat correlate with rising temperatures is wildfires. They match up with rising climates for 2

Sometimes, the intensity of stress causes anxiety or frustration. Which is why for the most part, stress is taken as a negative impact on an individual. Whether that stress comes from school, money, environment, work or all of them, everyone walks the same path of stress sometimes without even realizing it. Although many people perceive stress in a negative way, there s some surprising benefits of stress that we are not aware of. It all comes down to the basic element of what stress is. Stress is an anticipated feeling someone gets when they get into any trouble or difficulty. The human body reacts physically to any stressor that comes across. For example, our body has two important systems that play a role sympathetic nervous systemand parasympathetic system. The parasympathetic system is known as a rest and digest response in which hormones send adrenaline and other transmitters to your body. On the other hand, the sympathetic nervous systemis known as a fight or flight response in which it uses that adrenaline in order to react quickly. Therefore, both these symptoms react to any stressor that can prepare the human body for anything that might come across, physically and mentally. (Grant n.p.) Stress can benefit us in many ways. Even some of these experiments had legitimate scientific purposes, the methods used violated the canons of medical ethics. Others were racial in nature, designed to advance Nazi racial theories. Most were simply bad science. Additionally, some believe there are major ethical problems with using the data collected in this unethical manner. Once a decision to use the data has been made, experts suggest that it must not be included as ordinary scientific research, just to be cited and placed in a medical journal. I agree with author Robert J. Lifton who suggested that citation of the data must contain a thorough expose of exactly what tortures and atrocities were committed for that experiment. Citations of the Nazi data must be accompanied with the author s condemnation of the data as a lesson in horror and as a moral aberration in medical science. Operation Husky provides multiple examples of the challenges associated with joint operations and the struggles leaders must deal with to succeed at the strategic and operational levels of war. The Olsho et al. 1988 article plots the differences in thresholds between adults and 6 8 month infants, and the differences between adults and 10 12 month infants. They measured these results in sound field and under headphones. Thresholds under headphones are better because infant thresholds are better under headphones because of the size of their ear canals. It is important to take this into account when fitting hearing aids. This study also revealed that thresholds were closer to adult threshold at 10 12 months than at 6 8 months. Researchers have explained the mechanisms underlying the differences through the development of the auditory system. The cochlea is mature at birth, so it is not responsible for the difference in infant and adult thresholds. As far back as historians can look, people have depended on elements of nature for their survival. In the past few decades, the increased advancement of technology has led to an unfortunate division between humans and nature, and this lack of respect is becoming a flaw in current day society. In Last Child in the Woods, Louv criticizes modern culture by arguing that humans increasing reliance on technology has led to their decreasing connection with nature through the use of relevant anecdotes, rhetorical questions and powerful imagery to appeal to ethos. Louv develops his argument by using insightful anecdotes that allow him to become more relatable to the reader. He relays a story about his friend s experience of being pushed to buy multimedia entertainment products by a car salesman selling her a luxury car. This anecdoteis enhanced by a hyperbole to describe how the car salesmen s jaw dropped when she decided to draw the line. The use of the anecdote makes Louv seem more personable to any parent who desires convenience because it shows that he understands the appeal of such luxuries, but he continues by showing everything the child is losing from not observing the natural landscape and experiencing the real and physical world. This anecdote allows the reader to experience the same feelings that the friend may of felt in that situation. This makes the argument a more relatable

The diction of golden arm to describe Jordan demonstrates her true old money ways as even she gives off a golden hue. The diction that Daisy s voice is full of money exhibits that Daisy s money was not something she gained, but something she was born with, a chief trait of old money (AbP). The juxtaposition of Gatsby calling her voice full of money and Nick then dubbing her the golden girl repeats the symbol of gold to represent money and wealth. Fitzgerald describes old money throughout as the color gold, symbolic of their genuine and distinguished wealth

Unlike an exchange rate peg, inflation targeting enables monetary policy to focus primarily on domestic considerations and to respond accordingly to the domestic economy. (Mishkin F, 2000). Inflation targeting has the advantage that a stable relationship between money and inflation is not critical to its success. The strategy does not depend on this relationship, but rather uses all available information to determine the most appropriate settings of the inflation rate for the monetary policy. (Mishkin F, 2000) Inflation targeting also has the key advantage that it is easily understood by the public and is thus highly transparent. As an explicit target for inflation is created,
  • 51. Biblical Flood Myth of Genesis and the Flood Myth of the... The Flood of the Bible and the Flood of Gilgamesh The story of Noah s Ark, as told in the old testament, tells how God punished the world because it had become corrupt. God accomplished this by flooding the world, and annihilating all the creatures upon it, except for Noah and his family and a pair of each type of creature on the earth. Each decade, more insight is gained into the origin of the flood story. Based on the information available at the present time, one could argue that the story of Noah s Ark was based on the Epic of Gilgamesh. The story of Noah s Ark was first written as part of the old testament by the Jewish people. However, it is predated by far by the story of the Epic of Gilgamesh, a story that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dimensions of the ship underwent some drastic changes however, quite possibly because the dimensions of Gilgamesh s boat were rather unreasonable: Equal shall be her width and her length... . Both Gilgamesh and Noah received 7 days notice, and after the flood ceased, both employed doves and ravens as scouts to determine if the land was dry yet (Gilgamesh also employed a swallow, but the results of its trip did not greatly differ from the first trip of the dove in Noah s tale ). After the flood waters recessed, and the ships were able to empty their contents, both Noah and Gilgamesh also offered sacrifices to their respective gods, Noah with burnt offerings and Gilgamesh with a libation he poured on the mountainside where his ship came to rest. The other really large change was that God showed some signs of remorse and sorrow in Noah s tale, opposed to Gilgamesh s tale, where God showed little involvement beyond the initial instructions and the flood itself. It was Gilgamesh alone who displayed sorrow for the loss of his people. The shift of sympathy from Gilgamesh to God, however, does good to accommodate the Christian and Jewish perspective of a loving and forgiving God, who would only sweep the world of his own creations at a deep sentimental price. This idea is further confirmed by his promise never to commit such an act again after the flood ceases: Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every
  • 52. Meursault As A Hero Essay The Stranger starts off by telling the story of Meursault the main character, who lives voluptuous of the instant moment, free of any beliefs. Instead of behaving in conformity with civil norms, Meursault tries to live sincerely as he can, doing things that he loves to do and puts those that get in his way and keep him down aside. Meursault also refuses to resemble feelings that he does not acquire, and thus he refuses himself to cry at his mother s funeral or to grieve for her death. There are a serious of events that leads to the crucial moment of when Meursault aimlessly kills an Arab at the beach. The successive trail at court criticizes him not so much of the murder he committed but for his inadequacy of responsibility to the rules of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He chooses to observe events to getting precisely attached; one chapter in the book that stood out was the part where Meursault spends a whole day just relaxing on his front porch watching as passers go by in the street. Even though when Meursault is precisely involved in the events, he is incapable of getting caught up in them. When his girlfriend Maria Cardona, asks him to marry her, he tells her that he doesn t love her but that it makes no difference to him if they get married or not. Even at the point in which he killed the Arab, there was a sense that he wasn t really there, that he really wasn t doing what he is doing. It all looked as if he was seeing what was happening than actually killing the
  • 53. How Sports Has Changed My Life Hi, I m Meggan. I m a freshman at Minot State and majoring in Elementary education. I brought some things in today to tell you a little bit more about myself. But first I m going to tell you why I decided to carry them in this bag. I chose to carry my items in this duffle bag because I and many others use a duffle bag when you re in a sport. Sports have always been a huge factor in my life and in my family. Close to everyone in my family has played a sport and we all watch them too. We are anywhere from basketball to baseball fans and everything in between. A very close family friend of ours, Gary Cederstom, is a professional umpire so, we ve been to a multiple MLB games as well as an All Star Game where he was the crew chief calling the balls and strikes behind the plate. I myself played softball and volleyball in high school as well as golfing every once in a while with my grandpa. So now that I ve told you about my bag s significance, I ll tell you a little bitabout what i carried in it. The first item is something that represents my past. This is a jersey from the last year I played on a traveling volleyball team. I always loved volleyball growing up and had my hands on a ball whenever I could. My mom, aunt, and cousin all played volleyball when they were in high school and since we are all pretty short we were all setters. Volleyball taught me so many life lessons and created bonds with people I never thought I would have been friends with. I played for MinotHigh
  • 54. Outliers Malcolm Gladwell Essay I place my beautiful Howarth XL gently back in its case. In the lights it shines brightly, and if the lights hit it just right, it sparkles and blinds. The Grenadilla wood at first looks flawless and black in color, yet as one peers closer a rich brown color becomes visible and the wood grains show it is real. I close the case, and as I walk from the room I turn off the lights. One hour of practice down, thousands more to go. Or so I am told. I recently read a book called Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell. In it Gladwell tells the stories of successful people and explains how they became successful based on their circumstances, situations, and cultural legacies. In particular, Gladwell wrote a chapter about what has become to be known as The 10,000 Hour Rule. This rule states that after 10,000 hours of practice a person, no matter who they are, will be an expert at that skill. Although I agree with Gladwell in his knowledge, practice, and a lot of it, is necessary to become an expert in something, I cannot accept his statement that 10,000 hours ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gladwell never explicitly mentions the type of practice required to achieve mastery, only how many hours. To support this, he uses examples of Steve Jobs and his computer skills, and The Beatles, when they would perform many hours a day early in their career. But practice is not all equal. Deliberate practice is a term used to describe when a person practices attentively. There is no loss of focus in this type of practicing and the person often pushes themselves to the limits constantly. According to a prominent study The Role of Deliberate Practice in the Acquisition of
  • 55. Janice Harper Health Care As I was reading about the village and the people in the village in Madagascar, I really admired Janice Harper the medical anthropologist. The living conditions and the health of the people really made me think about how fortunate we are in the United States to have health care. The mortality rate was disturbing with 100 deaths per 1000 people compared to that of the US being 8 deaths per 1000 population (Singer Baer, 2012, p.45). It would be wonderful to be able to go to different countries to help people improve their health care and provide proper medical care, but not sure how one deals with the conditions of the different countries. It definitely takes a special person to be able to deal with the situations Harper encountered. But, Harper found that even though the children where sick with bloated bellies, ear infections, scabies and boils, they were still active and happily playing (Singer Baer, 2012, p.45). This was the children s way of life and how they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As nurses, we have to be transcultural and put our own beliefs and practices aside, and focus on the patient s beliefs and practices in order to provide proper nursing interventions to help patients improve their health (DeSantis, 1994, p.708). The nurse must look at the patient as a way to learn about different cultures. The patient is the nurse s source of information about the culture. Without understanding the effects of culture, many situations could be dangerous (DeSantis, 1994, p.714). Caregivers taking care of different populations must be aware of the many observances, and must ensure situational awareness to make the patients feel comfortable and trust that caregivers understand the patients needs in order for healing and health improvement to happen. Medical professionals have to be able to work with people from many different cultures as globalization
