ORIGIN OF BATTLE
10.The Battle of Calabria, (known to the Italian Navy as the Battle of Punta Stilo) was a naval
battle during the Battle of the Mediterranean in World War II. It was fought between the Italian
Royal Navy (Regia Marina) and the British Royal Navy and the Royal Australian Navy. The battle
occurred 30 miles to the east of Punta Stilo, the toe of Italy (Calabria), on 9 July 1940.
11When World War II opened, it was much to the surprise of the Italian forces who, like many in
Europe, did not expect conflict until 1941 at the earliest. At the time their forces in Libya were ill
equipped for war, and the Italian fleet was forced to start large supply operations in order to bring
them up to fighting condition.

Application Of Rule Of Law Essay
THEORETICAL APPLICATION OF RULE OF LAW IN INDIA The common law system of
justice delivery has been adopted by India which owes its origins to British jurisprudence, the
basis of which is the rule of law. According to Dicey, the Englishman does not need any form of
written or administrative law to keep cheeks on the government but that the natural law and
Rule of Law would be enough to ensure absence of excutive arbitrariness. While India also
follows and accepts the concept of natural law, there are written and formal laws to ensure
compliance. The Constitution of India intended for India to be a country governed by the rule
of law. It provides that the constitution shall be the supreme power in the land and the legislative
and the executive derive their authority from the constitution. Any law that is made by the
legislative has to be in conformity with the Constitute failing which it will be declared invalid,
this is provided for under Article 13 (1). Article 21 provides a further check against arbitrary
executive action by stating that no person shall be deprived of his life or liberty except in
accordance with the procedure established by law. Article 14 ensures that all citizens are equal and
that no person shall be discriminated on the basis of religion, sex, race or place of birth, finally it
ensures that there is separation of power between the three wings of the government, the executive
and the legislature have no influence on the judiciary. By these

MicroStrategy Ethic Case Study

Business Problem Solving Overview In March of 2000, MicroStrategy was the subject of an
investigation alleging the backdating of contracts and accounting fraud. Executives CEO Michael
Saylor, COO Sanju Bansal, and CFO Mark Lynch each paid personal fines of $350,000 and were
also ordered to disgorge the combined amount of $10 million in a settlement with the SEC. (Burns,

He was given the option to reapply after the three years. (SEC, 2000) Ethical Issues It is
important to have at least a good understanding of what we are talking about in regards to not only
ethics in general but ethics in business and for accounting specifically, as this case is focused
primarily on accounting practices. The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants or
AICPA had developed five divisions of ethical principles that its members were expected to follow.
Those principles are independence, integrity, and objectivity , competence and technical standards ,
responsibilities to clients , responsibilities to colleagues , and other responsibilities and practices
(Sellers, 1981). And even after the recent onslaught of scandals, some of the responsibilities of
regulation in public companies have been transferred from them to the government in order to
create the Public Accounting Oversight Board or PCAOB, the AICPA does retain a good deal of
authority in this area. Accountants and their practices have traditionally been held to very high
standards. The most recent publication of the AICPA s Code of Professional Conduct defines a key
position as, ...a position in which an individual...has the ability to exercise influence over the
contents of the financial statements, including when the individual is a member of the board of

2 Personal Goals
Introduction I will be exploring and distinguishing two personal goals and two professional goals
in relation to developing a strong and resilient mind. We will find methods that would help achieve
these goals. We will be creating scenarios that for each personal goal established and what method
used to achieve that goal.
First personal goal is to pay more attention and ask questions if I do not hear correctly. I may
seem bit off in my own world to say the least but it is nothing of the sort. I do listen; however, I do
not always hear them due to my bad hearing from military service. I do not like annoying people
by asking them to repeat themselves, so I try to simply wing it when possible.
Methods would be to practice mindfulness and accept ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I must be on my game in relation to the details of the project. There is one additional artist who
fails to meet the standards in place in relation to file formats and I get anxious for we are on a
timeline. Instead of being easily overwhelmed and anxious, I step back and reassess the situation. I
breath, smile, and simply correct the issue before the passing deadline comes. By doing this, I
come across grounded, professional, and dealt the situation in a positive manner.
Second professional goal would be more mindful and understanding to the client when trying the
understand there needs. Being a retired graphic shop team leader, I had to deal directly with clients
and try to understand their needs. At times this was no easy task, for a client may not always know
what he/she may want. This can be truly confusing and even annoying.
Methods would be to practice mindfulness, be positive, and gradually offer ideas to him/her to
help the process be easier for both parties (Mercola, 2013). It seems to be easier for the client to
deal with a more laid back, positive, and more mindful representative, for he/she may not know
much of anything with my trade. This would be more welcoming for the client room for ideas
which both parties can reach the intended

Battle Of Stalingrad
The Battle of Stalingrad is known as the turning point of World War II as it is notorious for being
the first crucial loss for the Third Reich. Certainly, Hitler created this two pronged attack to close
the front on the east and to essentially knock Russia out of the war, however the aggressive fighting
that came from the Russians caused the Germans to rethink their easy Blitzkrieg strategy and the
Russians launched the astonished Germans into hand to hand combat. And although the Germans
had been striking victories within Russiaafter breaking the German Soviet Nonaggression Pact, the
Germans had multiple imperfections that led to their fall at Stalingrad; for they came as
conquerors and not as liberators. This conflict is known as one of... Show more content on

Also, it would prevent a similar repeat of World War Iwhere the Germans were faced fighting a
two front war; fighting with Britain and France in the west and Russians in the east. Due to the
failure of Operation Barbarossa, Hitler had accidentally opened up the eastern front and
immediately needed to crush the Soviet to remove it and therefore secure victory. In fact, it
would be a great propaganda victory to capture the city that holds the name of the USSR
dictator, Stalin. In the end, Hitler s overall goals were to remove Soviet forces, secure the
economic assets, and move south of Moscow to overtake the remainder of the Caucasus and
Moscow. Meanwhile, Stalin, who also knew how necessary Stalingrad is in regards of
transportation and industry, prepared by creating the Stalingrad Front and passed Order No. 227,
where the only extenuating cause was death and troops were told, not one step backward, by Stalin
s command. The battle as Stalingrad would set the lines for the remainder of the war and both
dictators knew that as the German troops approached

Adaptation Of Cabeza De Vaca
Can you imagine setting sail with about 600 men on a conquest hoping to successfully complete
a task. Instead your castaway and you are one of four survivor s out of 600 men; We can all
attempt to imagine, but this was reality for Alvar NuГ±ez Cabeza de Vaca. In the early 1500 s
Alvar NuГ±ez was amongst the first Europeans to step foot in what is known as North America
today. The narrativeand film Cabeza de Vaca Relacion and Cabeza de Vaca the film, recounts the
trials and tribulations of the eight year journey. The film adaptation of Chronicle of the NarvГЎez
Expedition compares to the text in many ways. The film is merely a mirror to the narrative and
although the film is not as long as the book it gives its audience visual validation of the hardships
Alvar Nunez and his men endured, The way in which Alvarez was inhumanly treated by the Indians
and how Alvar Nunez became popular and respected in the Indian community.
Having to walk miles without food, walking around with no clothes or shoes in very cold
temperatures are all examples of hardships. The hardships Alvar NuГ±ez and his men fell victim
to were atrocious. In the narrative and the film there is a point in time when the expedition was
leaving Aute. By this time most of Alvar Nunez men had fallen ill so Nunez and his men built five
rafts to carry them at sea. Each raft was filled with almost fifty men. They ran out of food and
water relatively quickly and many of the men began to perish. At one point Alvar Nunez

National Vocational Education And Training Regulator Act 2011
VET is a term that first appeared in the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act
2011 and refers to a group of frameworks and systems that define the operational set up of RTOs.
The three key features are:
(i) Industry led this features learning outcomes that are defined by representatives from the industry
and workplace. These outcomes address real life expectations.
In my field of design, this may be defined by developing assessment based on a mock studio set
up where the teacher is a client and the students work off a brief given by the client.
(ii) National a jointly managed system run by the state, territory and Australian governments, so a
candidate meets a set of national standards that are acknowledged Australia wide.
This is demonstrated via the use of the training packages developed for a specific course. In my
instance CUA Creative Arts and Culture Training Package and more specifically CUA50715
Diploma of Graphic Design
(iii) Client focused the clients needs are met by the development of flexible, relevant and
responsive learning.
Flexible pathways in to training can be determined via the demonstration of skills the candidate
may have through prior training, job or personal experience etc, and whether it is relevant to the
unit/course.
VET reform is about improving the quality of training to improve job outcomes and adapt to future
skill requirements. Two of these objectives are: (i) to provide a system that clarifies the

The Function Of Haemoglobin And Oxygen
Introduction
Haemoglobin is a protein molecule in the red blood cell rich in iron. The major function of
haemoglobin is to transport oxygen (O2) from the lungs. The haemoglobin and oxygen
combination is called oxyhaemoglobin, Haemoglobin that has released oxygen is called reduced
haemoglobin or deoxyhaemoglobin which has a high affinity for co2 (Marieb, 2014).for this reason
oxygen is bind to the oxyhaemoglobin in the lungs and carried through the blood stream to the
tissues. Oxygen is then released to myoglobin (a red protein containing haem that carries and stores
oxygen in muscle cells) which is further transported in to the mitochondria be used for aerobic
respiration, in exchange the deoxyhemoglobin picks up 2 protons and 2 molecules and returns to
the lungs where it is released through exhalation. (McDowall, 2005)
Structure of haemoglobin is composed of four polypeptides, two identical chains called the alpha
polypeptide chains consisting of 141 amino acids each and beta polypeptide chains containing 146
amino acids each. Alpha and Beta each contain 8 helical segments. There are four globin chains
each composed of four heme groups attached to each of the four histidines. that combines with four
molecules of oxygen (see figure 1). When an iron atom is bonded to oxygen, haemoglobin changes
colour from purplish pink to bright red (oxyhaemoglobin) and when deoxygenate is changes to
blue. (Toole, 2004)
Discussion
Haemoglobin is essential for the human body because

This will increase the motivation of all employees and James as everyone is up to date of what
is going on and feel involved within Loch Tay Park. This can take effect immediately, a room
would need booked and have all staff attending. It may be hard to arrange a suitable time to have
a meeting were everyone is able to attend. It should be discussed amongst staff of when team

3.2Communication
3.21Arguments amongst staff
Key issue
Customers had reported problems to the office staff and sometimes these problems are not being
sent to Adalbert the Maintenance Manager. This is causing conflict between the office staff and
Adalbert or members on his team. Arguments have taken place in front of customers. This is then
affecting the customers as the issues they raised are not being dealt with, which could end up
costing the business as they are already heavily relying on their existing customers for business.
This is important to resolve this issue with immediate effect to help retain the existing customers
and reduce the conflict between the office staff and Adalbert and his team.
Objective
To resolve this issue would be to set a procedure in place for reporting problems and should be
followed. This would be a way where the customer reports the problem, and then it gets
acknowledged by the office staff,

During Moore s adventure, the United Dawli 10 States Coast Guard stops and questions Moore
and his crewmembers about their destination. Moore cleverly answers, We re not going to Cuba!
We re going to America! It s American soil (SiCKo). This voyage is humorous because Moore
plays upon the irony that in order for American citizens to receive free quality health care, they
must be taken the prison, which houses some of America s most dangerous criminals. Another
example in the film is when Moore discovers in a British hospital corridor a CASHIER window,
which he pretends to suppose is the hidden flaw in British free health services (Callenbach 18).
However, he soon learns that the Cashier is actually a place where the hospital pays its patients for
any costs they may have incurred throughout their stay, such as transportation costs to and from the
hospital. Moore compares the fact that people can actually get paid to go to the hospital in England,
to America where patients need to pay for their health care, and illustrates this point using humor
and sarcasm. As Chapman illustrates, Documentary is also recognized as being a very engaged sort
of cinema, which means that there are inevitably pressures and sometimes conflicting claims
(Chapman 8). In other words, although

Thomas Hobbes And John Locke On Liberty
In this essay, the contrasting ideas of Thomas Hobbes and John Locke on liberty will be discussed
and critically analyzed.
Freedom is the idea of being able to do what one wants to, however, in a society, laws are created
to make us all equal. Laws apply to every one of us in a civilized democratic society, which is the
common voice that keeps us living together without violating each other s rights. Author s general
view.7
Thomas Hobbes primarily expresses the idea of liberty using sovereignty as a model. According to
him, sovereignty was established by agreement initially, but he goes on to say that sovereignty
established by force incorporates the same rights and requirements of the social contract. The
difference lies in the way the sovereign is retained, installed and thought of. A sovereign coming
into power by universal consent is supported by the masses, as people fear each other. In contrast
to this, a sovereign that comes into power by force gains support as the people fear the sovereign
himself. Both of these sovereigns are mutually consented to by social contract, which is driven
by fear in either case. In the state of nature, liberty was non existent as actions were influenced
by fear of death and fear of the power held by others. While fear and power are present in The
Leviathan, the person has acquired absolute liberty as he handed over fear and power to the
sovereign to use as tools consentingly making him responsible for his own fate should the sovereign

Ethics Of Care Essay
The ethics of care may be a normative moral theory: a theory concerning what makes actions
virtuously right or wrong. It s one amongst a cluster of normative moral theories that were
developed by feminists within the half of the 20th century. Whereas consequentialist and
deontological moral theories emphasize universal standards and non partisanship, ethicsof care
emphasize the importance of response. Ethics of care contrasts with additional well known moral
views, like consequentialist theories and deontological theories. This kind of outlook is what
feminist critics decision a justice view of morality. A morality is a care that rests on the
understanding of relationships as a response to a different in their terms.

responsibility of each man and girls. Responsibility so as to worry, we have a tendency to should

responsibility is that the question of obligation. The obligation is common if not already tied to
the pre established social group and cultural norms and roles. Tronto makes the hassle to
differentiate the terms responsibility and obligation with regards to the ethics of care.
Responsibility is ambiguous, wherever as obligation refers to things where action or reaction is
due, in the case of a legal contract. This ambiguity permits for ebb and flow in and between
category structures and gender roles, and to different socially created roles that may bind
responsibility to those solely appropriate to these roles. The definition of an ethic of care is
ambiguous due partly to the death of a central role it plays in ethical theory. She argues that
considering philosophy is engaged with human goodness, and then care would seem to assume a
big role during this form of philosophy. However, this is often not the case

MP3 File Sharing Hurts America
Before the present time of computers and various media player technology, trading music files on

The Recording Industry Association of America has sued 1,445 people since September, with the
latest batch of 531 coming this month against people in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Atlanta,
Georgia, Orlando, Florida, and Trenton, New Jersey. Most of the earlier cases have been settled,
for an average of $3,000 each. According to Mitch Bainwol, the chairman and chief executive for
the RIAA, the record two million songs legally sold last week mostly on iTunes and Napster, prove
the lawsuits are educating users. He still believes that the faucet is still absolutely on; I just think
that the flow may have been slightly limited.
However, I d like to point out, that he cases that have been settled for $3,000 got a deal.
According to the RIAA website, online copyright infringement can be punished by up to three
years in prison and $250,000 in fines. Repeat offenders can be imprisoned up to 6 years. Individuals
also can be held liable for up to $150,000 per pirated song. To me, it seems that buying a CD for

The effects of piracy are felt by everyone. There were 130,000 jobs lost due to piracy in the U.S.

Monarch Butterfly Essay
The Life of the Monarch Butterfly
Imagine you are walking down the street and come across a monarch butterfly collecting nectar
from milkweed plants. This butterfly is one of the most famous butterfly species because of the
extravagant color of their wings. With their unique lifestyle, their population is still declining,
organizations, citizens and programs are helping to save them.
Overview states, The monarch butterfly is known by scientists as Danaus plexippus, which in
Greek literally means sleepy transformation (World Wildlife Fund). They get this name because of
the way they hibernate and evolve. What many people do not know about these insects is that they
have iconic black, monarch orange and white wings that make it easy for predators to identify that

Countries like Mexico, Canada and the United States are teaming up to help rescue the butterflies.
In Mexico, they are working to protect its sanctuaries, eliminate the destruction of their main
habitat which is the forest, and stop illegal logging in the areas they migrate to. The National
Wildlife Federation, National Fish Wildlife Foundation, and the U.S. Fish Wildlife Services are
going to spend two million dollars to plant milkweeds along the butterflies main migration routes.
Imam also explains, Researchers at the Mexican National Commission of Protected Natural Areas
and the World Wildlife Fund said they observed a 225% increase from 2015 to 2016 in common
habitat areas. (CNN) The World Wildlife Fund protects the monarch butterflies by managing the
forest well, limiting tourism and supporting tree nurseries that help restore forest. Since we all

Essay On The Bombing Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki
August 6, 1945 was the day that hit Japan hard and also helped stop the Second World War. That
was the day that Harry S. Truman decided the only way to stop the war was to drop the first
atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in attempt to get Japan to surrender. The bomb went
down in history as one of the biggest bombings. The bombings in both cities affected many
Japanese citizens, mentally and physically. The bombings didn t only affect citizens in Japan, both
others who wondered if bombing the two cities was the right thing to do. Even to this day, there is
debate on whether Japan would have surrendered without the bombings, or if the bombings made
them surrender.
In May 1945, Germany had surrendered and the only countries fighting was America and Japan.
America wanted an unconditional surrender, and Japan was not wanting to give in to that. Harry S.
Truman, the president at the time, had the tough decision of whether to bomb the Japanese cities of
Hiroshima and Nagasaki or not. If he bombed them, they would have no choice, but to surrender, yet
it would injure thousands of citizens. Truman had decided to do it. On the 6th day in August, the...

Truman did not tell many people, and did not even tell his allies such as Joseph Stalin and Winston

question in the matter. Did the bomb help get Japan to surrender, or was Japan going to surrender
on their own. America was not going to stop the war unless Japan gave them an unconditional
surrender. With no sure way to tell if they would surrender unconditionally, Truman dropped the
bombs to end the war quickly. However, there was claims that Japan was on the verge of surrender

Power Tends To Corrupt And Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely
Outline the parts of the introduction to your paper, the main points, the evidence for those
points, and the conclusion of your paper. Introduction: As the saying goes, Power tends to
corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely (Marton). A person may by guided by the
noblest of ideals and have a cause as pure as gold or as radiant as the sun, but the moment they
have absolute power there cause will fall apart and all will have been for not. In Animal Farm by
George Orwell, he exemplifies this ideal as we follow Napoleon and his rise to power, or rather
his fall from grace towards complete degradation. Over the progression of the novel Napoleon
tries to actualize the dream of the other farm animals as he works towards the dream of reaping
what one sows . In the process, he is put into a leadership position where he shows, the corrosive
effect that power has his morals as the story progresses displaying how power corrupts and
absolute power corrupts absolutely. Main Points: The story begins with Old Major, who is a
respected on the farm, and who had given a speech that stirred the animals emotions towards the
idea of rebellion. He used his power of respect and trust to persuade the others to pursue the
vision in his dream by stating, Nearly the whole of the production of our labor is stolen from us
by human beings. There, comrades is the answer to our problems. It is summed up in a single
word Man (Orwell 5).This dream of reaping what one sows made the animals on the

Crowd Psychology
The question that I intend to study is: How do shy people react in a crowd? (do they become
aggressive/ assertive as per mob psychology, or shrink as per their personality)? There are
various theories regarding the mode of behavior in a crowd. Some, such as Freud, posit that
people behavior changes in a crowd and they become more restless and less individualistic. Mob
theory, in fact, is born form this which asserts that crowds are the source of volatile conduct where
diverse people gang together for a particular cause. Minds merge and each person s enthusiasm
becomes increased as a result. On the other hand, you have the Convergence theory that posits that
the cause is born beforehand and that people join the crowd in order to put their cause into practice.
The crowd, in other words, enables them to accomplish their objective and it makes them more
enthusiastic and entrenched in their mission. Social psychologists leBon (1895) and Zimbardo
(1969) see the crowd as an instigator of individuation. Stimuli such as mergence into a larger whole,
the rush of the environment, the pressure of the crowd, the sensory overload and so forth blur
mental input and causes a deindivdualistic individual to appear. One thing that is remarkable about
all of these theories is that they tend to generalize assuming categorical behavior to all individuals
and providing the aspect of crowd with anthropomorphic qualities. Indeed, Schweingruber and
Wohlstein (PsyBlog.com) point out that crowd

Naguib Mahfouz Fountain and Tomb Essay
In the novel Fountain and Tomb by Naguib Mahfouz, the reader is thrown into a small alley in
Cairo, Egypt in the 1920s. The narrator is an adult reliving his childhood through many random,
interesting vignettes of his youth. We learn about many different aspects of Egyptian life from
political rebellion, to arranged marriages, to religious devotion, to gang warfare. We are led to
conclude that one of the major themes of the book is Truth. We come to question whether Truth is
something that alwaysneeds to be known. Will the Truth ultimately do more harm than good? Is
there ever a time when the Truth must be told? Are there times when it s better for the Truth to
never be known?
Truth is constantly sought out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story ends with the son supposedly helping his father pass away so he won t be forced to
return his fortune. This is a case where the father thought it was necessary for the Truth to come
out, but where did it leave his family? So we wonder, is the Truth always the best thing to be told?
Can it do more harm than good? In this case it did. Truth only brought about more pain, conflict,
and trouble than if it had not been told.
When our narrator is conversing with Anwar Gilel on the fountain steps, Gilel has made an
astounding realization. I ve just realized that I m a student among competing students in a school
which throws together students from antagonistic little lanes, in an alley in the middle of warring
alleys, that I m a creature among millions of creatures both seen and unseen on a ball of mud
awhirl amid a solar system over which I have no control, that this solar system is itself lost in
endless space ... It goes on and he asks the narrator whether the sun will come up tomorrow. I d
take bets on it, the lad answered. Gilel ends the argument by saying, Blessed are the ignorant, for
they are happy (Mahfouz, 115). Gilel also has realized that what people don t know is sometimes
better for them. It makes them feel better, safer, and happier. And we wonder which is more
important, knowing the Truth, or knowing enough of the Truth to keep us satisfied with life and
happy. In this story we notice that by

The Effect of Task Complexity on the Relation Between...
1.Introduction
In this study I want to look at the effect of task complexity on the relationship between team based
incentives and performance. I will thus try to find whether task complexity is a moderating variable
in the relation between incentives and performance and specifically try to find whether this effect
differs for individual incentives and team incentives.
When looking at incentive contracts in management accounting literature, usually theories from the
field of economics and psychology are combined. In some circumstances these theories can lead to
quite opposing predictions of the effect of incentives on performance. In general incentive contracts
are a decision influencing control tool used to make sure that people s ... Show more content on

For example Lazear (2000) empirically finds in a manufacturing environment that pay for
performance increases productivity with 44%. On the other hand Bonner et al. (2000) find that
only in about 50 percent of the experiments they examined, financial performance led to
improvements in productivity. This thus means that the relationship between incentives and
performance may be dependent on the situational circumstances and they do not work in every
environment. Specifically in their review of experiments Bonner et al. (2000) find that when the
complexity of the task increases (relative to the skill of the participants), the likelihood of
observing a positive effect of incentives on performance decrease. Bailey and Fessler (2011) also
find that monetary incentives are more effective when the task is less complex. On the other hand
in a review of empirical studies on financial incentives and performance Jenkins et al. (1999) find
that financial incentives are generally related to output quantity but not to quality. Furthermore,
they find task type is independent of the relation between financial incentives and performance. If
the performance on a complex task is more difficult to measure, the agent s effort thus has less
influence on the performance measure (more noise, less sensitivity) and the measure is less
effective.
All the above studies are concerned with individual incentives. Apart from research on individual
incentives there is also a lot

Camargo s The Ballet Body
The Ballet Body
The origin of the dance figure was in the eighteenth century. A young dancer by the name of
Marie Camargo became a prominent figure on the stage. She was light footed sure of her steps
and shorter than all of the male dancers on the stage. Her timing for her career was perfect. This
was at the time that it became fashionable to go to the ballet. Camargo became famous and every
young dancer in the world wanted to go to the same dance company so that they could share in her
fame. The company would not let any new dancers in who were taller than their star performer.
As girls reached five feet five their dreams would be smashed at the realization that they would
never have Camargo s figure. This new dancer also redefined the shape of the classical ballet
dancer. Before her debut on the stage the ballet dancers were not traditionally small, but due to her
popularity, the new figure became mandatory to succeed in the world of ballet.

But it is not an easy job to discover the exact place of the cognitive sense organ in the cortex which
is actually a jungle of about ten thousand million nerve cells.
The sixth sense is demonstrated in all the progression and inventions of human civilizations.
Sometimes, the inventions springs suddenly but after a long trials and sufferings; so that the
inventor attains his goal at once as if a sudden inspiration had illuminated his researches. The poets
called this inspiration an intuition and the sophists regarded it a heavenly discovery and
unidentified suggestion. Laurent, a French philosopher said that the inventor is an intuitive poet
and Claude Bernard had also revealed this special sense and this intuitive discovery in the creative
scientific achievements. The characteristics of memories and thoughts serve as a stimulus for the
cognitive sense organ which helped humans to exploit their abilities throughout ages. To invent
tools and to develop the use of language in order to ease their life and to cope with the variable

My Love Of Education
Many people are on their own route towards what they consider receiving or claiming an
education. Whether it be a formal or informal education, we all approach obstacles that keep us
away from a direction we may have our mind or even our heart set on. In this essay, I will describe
my experiences in which my education has brought me close to losing my temper and self
confidence.
I used to groom the knots of her black and white coat that would pile up on her belly. But, one
day, I remember coming across a ball like lump under her skin. I moved it around to see if it
bothered her, but she just lay there with her belly up, waiting for me to finish. The next morning,
my dad and I took her to the vet and found out they were benign tumors, but should be removed
before they could turn into something more serious. My family struggled to find the funds to
remove the lumps. My love for animals, and particularly for my dog, Lyn Yang, quickly turned
into dreams of being able to remove the lumps myself. But at that point, I was helpless. I thought,
maybe one day, I d be a veterinarian and able to rid animals of their problems.
That was the beginning of the dream.
Growing up, I mostly stuck by my parents and they didn t stimulate my interest in animals. Even
with all the time we spent at the vet, I never thought to speak to a veterinarian. What did I know
about job shadowing? I now realize the importance of having real life role models, and someone to
speak to about my goals and aspirations. It s like Sonia Sotomayor said, When a young person,
even a gifted one, grows up without proximate living examples of what she may aspire to become,
her goal remains abstract.
In those days, in my environment, my dream to become a veterinarian gradually diminished. So
much diminished during my teenage years. I found my mind shrinking. I could feel my dream
getting smaller and smaller. Instead of choosing a profession that could drive me, I let me
community drive me instead and it got the best of me.
Life is different when you don t have a dream. I spent a lot of time in the streets. I had this small
minded definition of success, particularly when everyone around me was making fast money. The
slow developing value of an education

U.s. Presidential Election On The United States
There will be a U.S. presidential election on November 8, 2016. Whether you identify as a
Republican, a Democrat, or somewhere in between, there is no denying that Donald Trump and
Hillary Clinton are two highly controversial candidates. While it is difficult to tell where most
Americans stand on the election issue, it is easy to see that ancient Chinese Legalist thinkers would
be staunch supporters of Donald Trump. Legalist ideas seem to be the foundation upon which Trump
s Republican Party was built. Even Trump s slogan, Make America Great Again, is echoed in the
Legalist notion of becoming a strong country with impenetrable borders. Though I, along with
many Americans, disagree with Trump on many points, his taxand welfare policies seem to be
based on logic, especially in the context of Chinese history. However, America is not ready for a
president who has illustrated such a flagrant disregard for the law. Just as the Legalist regime in
China was short lived, so should be Trump s time in the limelight.
Han Feizi and Shang Yang, Legalist thinkers in ancient China, would vote for Donald Trump in the
upcoming election. While Feizi, Yang, and Trump agree on many fundamental points, taxation and
welfare policy are the most significant. Feizi stated in his teachings, now if the ruler levies money
from the rich in order to give alms to the poor, he is robbing the diligent and frugal and indulging
the lazy and extravagant. If he expects by such a means to induce the people

This transfer of ions is what generates the electrical impulse of the heart and causes the heart to act
as a single unit instead of individual cells (Marieb Hoehn, 2013). Cardiac conduction occurs
because there are gap junctions for ions to pass through and because of the heart s intrinsic
conduction system, which is composed of non contractile cardiac cells that are specifically
designed to start and distribute electric impulses through the cardiac cells so that depolarization and
contractions are orderly and sequential. The contractile cells sustain stable membrane resting
potential when they are unstimulated, however, the resting potential of the autorhythmic cells, that
create the intrinsic conduction system, is unstable and is constantly depolarizing, which is called
pacemaker potentials and initiate the action potential that causes the heart to contract (Marieb
Hoehn, 2013). The pace maker potential occurs because of the ion channels which causes
hyperpolarization at the end of the action potentials. This hyperpolarization causes the K+ channels
to close while simultaneously opening the Na+ channels, which allows an imbalance of K+ and
Na+ to occur making the cardiac cells to become more positive. When the pacemaker potential is

Dostoyevsky s Crime And Punishment
Dostoyevsky s Crime and Punishment relies heavily on Raskolnikov s motivation for committing
the crime. To the casual reader, the motives are straightforward he wants to find out if he, like
Napoleon, is an extraordinary man; wants to rid society of the pawnbroker, the louse; wants simply
to lift himself from debt with the money he stole. But these explanations do not strike the heart of
the matter: there is a deeper cause. The ultimate reason behind Raskolnikov s violent murder of the
pawnbroker stems from a combination of an oppressive environment of poverty and Raskolnikov s
characteristic arrogance. Good, straightforward thesis
It is almost a given that Raskolnikov was poor, however the extent of this is easily overlooked.

Walking down the street adjacent to his apartment at the outset of the novel, Raskolnikov s
psychology is swiftly illuminated,
The insufferable stench from the pot houses, which are particularly numerous in that part of the
town, and the drunken men whom he met continually, although it was a working day, completed
the revolting misery of the picture. An expression of the profoundest disgust gleamed for a moment
in the young man s refined face. He was, by the way, exceptionally handsome, above the average

Here, Raskolnikov is disgusted by the surroundings of his home and community he certainly sees
himself above such squalor. Further elevating his opinion of himself are his exceptional good
looks, which surely cause him to develop a sense of superiority over time. Raskolnikov s behavior
of disregarding intentionally his surroundings is also indicative of deep seated egotism and
arrogance, acting as though he is the only object worthy of his own attention. A final factor
contributing to Raskolnikov s superiority complex is his intelligence. In a letter he receives from his

Android Vs Apple Vs Android
One well known ongoing controversy is Apple versus Android. Many buyers want to know
which phone will be more dependable in long run, so they will not have to purchase another one
anytime soon. People have become biased toward which device they believe performs better and
will not try and use any other programmed device. There are also those who like to experiment
and try a new something new, and love and switch or hate and remain loyal to their original buy.
People are subjective to their own decisions there is no hard proof that one is more significantly
greater than the other. Important aspects are taken into consideration when purchasing a phone
such as: hardware, software, and the basics. The way these devices perform paves how they will
appeal to potential buyers. Durability is important, because nobody wants a phone that will
crack with the slightest drop. However, people are tending to lie less on this factor because of
lifeproof, waterproof, shockproof, shatterproof, etc. cases that were developed. Battery life is a
key factory in anything technological because people want a reliable phone that they know will
hold out. Both parties allow users to view their battery life and even put it on low power mode.
However, Androidreleased a gadget that allows phones to charge faster and wirelessly, feeling

Kierkegaard Research Paper
Kierkegaard on Human Self Kierkegaard points out human being to be spirit. He further clarifies
that this spirit is encompassed in the self. He further elucidates that the self is the relationship
that relates itself to itself. This means that this relating itself to itself is what defines self. This
relationship that relates itself to the self must have been established by itself or something else
within the boundaries of the self. The relation he further notes is the third term that has
established the entire relation. Human self is thus the relation that relates to itself and in relating
to itself relates to something else. This self is what defines personality or individuality. We have
self because of the consciousness we humans have of ourselves. According to Kierkegaard, we
can only relate to this self if we are aware of ourselves and have the capacity to relate to self
consciousness. This self, according to Kierkegaard, is what make us go for selection and making

A synthesis in this case, is defined by the finite and the infinite. The finite Kierkegaard refers to the
temporal nature of the human life due to death is finite and has a time horizon. Kierkegaard
therefore says that human beings are subject to death which will curtail their existence and it is
upon this that Kierkegaard says that human beings are infinite. Infinite is the eternal aspect of
human life which is not subject to time limitations and boundaries. This then contradicts the
definition of human beings as self; human beings are a synthesis process that links both the finite

Caste Oppression In India
Oppression in India has been happening for over a thousand years with little to no action being
done to stop the caste discrimination. There has been oppression occurring in India against Dalits,
people below the caste system who are also known as Untouchables, and to lower caste people
because of their culture and their religion, Hinduism. In order to rid castediscriminationfacing Dalits
and lower castes in India, people of India must know and evaluate the history of the oppression, the
current situation India is in, and what has been done, needs to be done to solve this issue.
In India, there has been oppression against the Dalits for decades, and the main cause of the
oppression is due to their main religion and their culture. For example, while not all of India
practices the religion of Hinduism, Tom O Neill, an expert from National Geographic states
most of the country does practice Hinduism, While India s constitution forbids caste
discrimination and specifically abolishes untouchability, Hinduism, the religion of 80 per cent
of India s population, governs daily life with its hierarchies and rigid social codes (O Neill). The
majority of India does practices Hinduism, but religion isn t the only cause of oppression, caste
discrimination is also part of Indian culture. Therefore, one doesn t have to practice Hinduism to
feel like it is okay to oppress Dalits. In addition, while the Dalits are being oppressed, BBC News
states that higher castes are very privileged

Danny looks over the same basketball park now and sees that the blacks are back on it with Little
Henry the black gang member that confronted Danny earlier on.
Derek didn t allow his family to visit or write to him for the three years while he was in prison.
Now he is released and Danny comes home to meet him after school. They lost their original
home after Derek had lost his job and Doris Vineyard. Their mother is also unwell, coughing and
lying on the couch suffering probably from lung cancer. When Danny gets home, Derek notices
the tattoo on Danny s arm with the letters DOC underneath the logo. Danny tells Derek that it
was Cameron that had persuaded Danny to have it done. Derek is not impressed but doesn t say
anything. Seth arrives with his video camera to welcome back Derek. Derek, meanwhile, is on
the phone to Dr Sweeney who tells him about Danny s assignment and Derek agrees to help
Danny in his own way. Seth videotapes Danny reciting right wing and skinhead ideology about
hating that it is cool to be black and the hip hop influence on the suburbs. Derek finishes his phone
call and is listening to Danny s views while shaking his head.
Derek assembles the family in the room while Seth is left outside waiting to get something to eat.
He tells them that he is planning to move them out of the area so they can make a new start. Derek

Summary Of Butler s Speech Sounds By William Butler
As indicated in the quotation through the little boy s gesture of covering up Rye s mouth when she
spoke, communication is rare in the dystopian society that Butler s Speech Sounds took place in.
Communication was rare due to an illness that caused language impairment which triggered the
loss of skills such as reading and writing, and the loss of other intellectual abilities. It is indicated
that due to the illness, society broke down, as shown by the lack of vehicles and the dissolution of
law enforcement. Towards the beginning of the short story, fights erupt on the bus that Rye is in
because of a disagreement, and with no form of communicationavailable to solve the issue, the
men on the bus resort to their fists. Eventually, the fight is broken up by an individual wearing a
Los Angeles Police Department uniform, who throws gas into the bus to disperse people out of it.
After this, the man who dispersed the crowd motioned to Rye to come with him, prompting the
bystanders to group Rye with him, and they started making gestures accusing Rye of sexually being
with the man. It is telling that even without a voice to speak, the bystanders automatically
objectified Rye as a sexual object, and that objectification could be done with gestures. Historically,
the dissolution of a society tends to change the powerstructures within it, here Butler shows how
the association of women as sexual objects goes beyond the power structures of society, and how it
is inherent in the

Analysis Of Dalton Conley s You May Ask Yourself
Dalton Conley s book, You May Ask Yourself, defines sociological imagination as, The ability to
connect the most basic, intimate aspects of an individual s life to seemingly impersonal and
remote historical forces (Conley 2015, pg. A 11). Sociological Imagination is the idea of being
able to step outside of the box, and evaluate society from an alternative point of view. Symbolic
Interactionism, norms, socialization, and the idea of understanding yourself vs. understanding
the social aspect of society, are some of the key concepts mentioned throughout this paper, to
help break apart what the sociological imagination consists of. Society is changing a lot, and
change can sometimes make it hard to cope with the world around us. Sociological imagination
is a lot deeper than just common sense. Author of The Sociological Imagination, C. Wright Mills
states, Talking about sociological imagination is what makes us feel more grounded in the face
of all these changes (C. Wright Mills). If I keep an open mind, and pay attention to the larger
world around me, I am better to understand the connections of what is going on in my individual
life, and what is going on in the social world. The sociological imagination has two lenses to it, the
individual lens, and the society lens. The individual lens deals with personal troubles; Individuals
comparing themselves to everyone around them. For example, with the media, we see all these
commercials, and ads that portray false

Short Story Of Little Petey
I was making a futile attempt at cooking fish when Sam strutted into the backyard of my house.
Well... not my house as my house had been set ablaze during Sam s fruitless battle with Drake
Marwin. That word perfectly illustrates Sam... fruitless , otherwise conceited works just as well.
Anyhow, Pete is still playing his game that lacks batteries. Batteries as well as a plethora of
other amenities have become uncommon throughout the FAYZ, but, thankfully, this does not
bother Petey. When I began to struggle to find batteries for Pete s game, I worried that I would
be unable to control Pete. It is amazing how Little Pete is able to adapt to the lack of batteries.
He somehow just imagines his game. Little Pete is the most powerful person in the FAYZ and his
game keeps his powers at bay. I have hypothesized that he manufactured the anomaly we live in
today. It is still undecided if Petey even knew what he was doing when he created this place, but I
cannot let people know that he caused this hell.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

1) Describe briefly the relashonship between Tito and Bimbo. In what way was Tito almost like a
dog and Bimbo almost like a boy ? (2)
While noone had the slightest idea of where this young boy came from, how old he was or even
who his parents were, they had remembered seeing Bimbo right at his side. Bimbo was Tito s
everything; he was his nurse, his mother, his pillow and his father. I think Bimbo acted more like a
boy because he would always bring the food home, and although it had become a regular thing
for them, I feel like Bimbo was more in control that Tito. Tito, on the other hand, never got the
food, or even looked for it. He acts more like dogs, as if theres always going to be food on a silver
platter and he just has to wait. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was starting to make his ways towards the inner gate when Bimbo started biting his clothes.
Tito suddenley realized he was urging him towards the sea gate, as it was safe there. He leaded

Bimbo was missing.
5) Although this is not a happy story, it is not a tragic one. What do we find out at the end of the
story trhat gives us a warm feeling? What do you think Untermeyer is trying to say about human
nature? (2) In the midst of everything that was going on in that particular moment in time, all that
was on Bimbo s thoughts were Tito. I think he had noticed him going alittle pale and not keeping
his balance so he went to the bakery to get him some cake. Untermeyer was trying to show just in
general how much an animal or a human would do to protect someone they truly love. In the end
Bimbo died, and although he was a smart enough dog to know he wouldve, he loved Tito and he
sacrificed his life to protect and help

Essay On The Subconscious And Subhuman Temper In Wuthering...
The Subconscious and Subhuman Temper
In Young Goodman Brown , Wuthering Heights, and Hamlet, subconscious and subhuman
tendencies indicate the detrimental tolls of obsession inflicted upon the main character. Dreams
symbolize the onset of an obsession and imply that the seemingly harmless nightmares we
experience may be more than merely a bad dream and instead serve as an indicator of the
deterioration of our mental stability. Animalistic vocabulary dehumanizes and reduces characters to
a more primitive form causing readers to question their understanding of what it truly means to be
human. Ultimately, this corruption of the mind leads to undesirable thoughts and seemingly
inhuman attributes, all out of the victim s control. In all cases, ... Show more content on

In chapter nine, she discloses her fear that her dream may be a warning of what will become of
her if she neglects her heart s desires and succumbs to her obsession with wealth by marrying
Edgar Linton. Distressed and in search of consolation, Catherine asks her maid, Nelly, do you
never dream queer dreams? (BrontГ« 49). Catherine proceeds to say, I ve dreamt in my life
dreams that have stayed with me ever after, and changed my ideas: they ve gone through me,
like wine through water, and altered the colour of my mind (49). The simile used here, like wine
through water, is symbolic of herself and her obsession. The water, pure and clean, is herself
and the wine, addictive and manipulative, is her obsession. Once wine is poured into water, they
combine to create a new solution. This analogy shows the way that her fundamental self and
obsession have intertwined over time and the effects have been irreversible. In her most recent
dream, she finds herself in heaven but feels misplaced. She fears that this dream is foreshadowing
how she will feel if she marries Edgar Linton. Although she would possess a desirable status,
much like how many yearn to go to heaven, it is not what she truly wants. In a more literal sense,
her marriage to Edgar would be the death of her true

  • 5. Application Of Rule Of Law Essay THEORETICAL APPLICATION OF RULE OF LAW IN INDIA The common law system of justice delivery has been adopted by India which owes its origins to British jurisprudence, the basis of which is the rule of law. According to Dicey, the Englishman does not need any form of written or administrative law to keep cheeks on the government but that the natural law and Rule of Law would be enough to ensure absence of excutive arbitrariness. While India also follows and accepts the concept of natural law, there are written and formal laws to ensure compliance. The Constitution of India intended for India to be a country governed by the rule of law. It provides that the constitution shall be the supreme power in the land and the legislative and the executive derive their authority from the constitution. Any law that is made by the legislative has to be in conformity with the Constitute failing which it will be declared invalid, this is provided for under Article 13 (1). Article 21 provides a further check against arbitrary executive action by stating that no person shall be deprived of his life or liberty except in accordance with the procedure established by law. Article 14 ensures that all citizens are equal and that no person shall be discriminated on the basis of religion, sex, race or place of birth, finally it ensures that there is separation of power between the three wings of the government, the executive and the legislature have no influence on the judiciary. (SEC, 2000) Ethical Issues It is important to have at least a good understanding of what we are talking about in regards to not only ethics in general but ethics in business and for accounting specifically, as this case is focused primarily on accounting practices. The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants or AICPA had developed five divisions of ethical principles that its members were expected to follow. Those principles are independence, integrity, and objectivity , competence and technical standards , responsibilities to clients , responsibilities to colleagues , and other responsibilities and practices (Sellers, 1981). And even after the recent onslaught of scandals, some of the responsibilities of regulation in public companies have been transferred from them to the government in order to create the Public Accounting Oversight Board or PCAOB, the AICPA does retain a good deal of authority in this area. Accountants and their practices have traditionally been held to very high standards. The most recent publication of the AICPA s Code of Professional Conduct defines a key position as, ...a position in which an individual...has the ability to exercise influence over the contents of the financial statements, including when the individual is a member of the board of ... First personal goal is to pay more attention and ask questions if I do not hear correctly. I may seem bit off in my own world to say the least but it is nothing of the sort. I do listen; however, I do not always hear them due to my bad hearing from military service. Second professional goal would be more mindful and understanding to the client when trying the understand there needs. This can be truly confusing and even annoying. Methods would be to practice mindfulness, be positive, and gradually offer ideas to him/her to help the process be easier for both parties (Mercola, 2013). • 11. National Vocational Education And Training Regulator Act 2011 VET is a term that first appeared in the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 and refers to a group of frameworks and systems that define the operational set up of RTOs. The three key features are: (i) Industry led this features learning outcomes that are defined by representatives from the industry and workplace. These outcomes address real life expectations. In my field of design, this may be defined by developing assessment based on a mock studio set up where the teacher is a client and the students work off a brief given by the client. (ii) National a jointly managed system run by the state, territory and Australian governments, so a candidate meets a set of national standards that are acknowledged Australia wide. This is demonstrated via the use of the training packages developed for a specific course. In my instance CUA Creative Arts and Culture Training Package and more specifically CUA50715 Diploma of Graphic Design (iii) Client focused the clients needs are met by the development of flexible, relevant and responsive learning. Flexible pathways in to training can be determined via the demonstration of skills the candidate may have through prior training, job or personal experience etc, and whether it is relevant to the unit/course. • 12. The Function Of Haemoglobin And Oxygen Introduction Haemoglobin is a protein molecule in the red blood cell rich in iron. The major function of haemoglobin is to transport oxygen (O2) from the lungs. The haemoglobin and oxygen combination is called oxyhaemoglobin, Haemoglobin that has released oxygen is called reduced haemoglobin or deoxyhaemoglobin which has a high affinity for co2 (Marieb, 2014).for this reason oxygen is bind to the oxyhaemoglobin in the lungs and carried through the blood stream to the tissues. Oxygen is then released to myoglobin (a red protein containing haem that carries and stores oxygen in muscle cells) which is further transported in to the mitochondria be used for aerobic respiration, in exchange the deoxyhemoglobin picks up 2 protons and 2 molecules and returns to the lungs where it is released through exhalation. (McDowall, 2005) Structure of haemoglobin is composed of four polypeptides, two identical chains called the alpha polypeptide chains consisting of 141 amino acids each and beta polypeptide chains containing 146 amino acids each. Alpha and Beta each contain 8 helical segments. There are four globin chains each composed of four heme groups attached to each of the four histidines. that combines with four molecules of oxygen (see figure 1). When an iron atom is bonded to oxygen, haemoglobin changes colour from purplish pink to bright red (oxyhaemoglobin) and when deoxygenate is changes to blue. Moore cleverly answers, We re not going to Cuba! We re going to America! It s American soil (SiCKo). This voyage is humorous because Moore plays upon the irony that in order for American citizens to receive free quality health care, they must be taken the prison, which houses some of America s most dangerous criminals. Another example in the film is when Moore discovers in a British hospital corridor a CASHIER window, which he pretends to suppose is the hidden flaw in British free health services (Callenbach 18). However, he soon learns that the Cashier is actually a place where the hospital pays its patients for any costs they may have incurred throughout their stay, such as transportation costs to and from the hospital. Moore compares the fact that people can actually get paid to go to the hospital in England, to America where patients need to pay for their health care, and illustrates this point using humor and sarcasm. As Chapman illustrates, Documentary is also recognized as being a very engaged sort of cinema, which means that there are inevitably pressures and sometimes conflicting claims (Chapman 8). • 17. Thomas Hobbes And John Locke On Liberty In this essay, the contrasting ideas of Thomas Hobbes and John Locke on liberty will be discussed and critically analyzed. Freedom is the idea of being able to do what one wants to, however, in a society, laws are created to make us all equal. Laws apply to every one of us in a civilized democratic society, which is the common voice that keeps us living together without violating each other s rights. Author s general view.7 Thomas Hobbes primarily expresses the idea of liberty using sovereignty as a model. According to him, sovereignty was established by agreement initially, but he goes on to say that sovereignty established by force incorporates the same rights and requirements of the social contract. The difference lies in the way the sovereign is retained, installed and thought of. A sovereign coming into power by universal consent is supported by the masses, as people fear each other. In contrast to this, a sovereign that comes into power by force gains support as the people fear the sovereign himself. Both of these sovereigns are mutually consented to by social contract, which is driven by fear in either case. In the state of nature, liberty was non existent as actions were influenced by fear of death and fear of the power held by others. While fear and power are present in The Leviathan, the person has acquired absolute liberty as he handed over fear and power to the sovereign to use as tools consentingly making him responsible for his own fate should the sovereign ... The bomb went down in history as one of the biggest bombings. The bombings in both cities affected many Japanese citizens, mentally and physically. The bombings didn t only affect citizens in Japan, both others who wondered if bombing the two cities was the right thing to do. Even to this day, there is debate on whether Japan would have surrendered without the bombings, or if the bombings made them surrender. In May 1945, Germany had surrendered and the only countries fighting was America and Japan. America wanted an unconditional surrender, and Japan was not wanting to give in to that. Harry S. Power Tends To Corrupt And Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely Outline the parts of the introduction to your paper, the main points, the evidence for those points, and the conclusion of your paper. Introduction: As the saying goes, Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely (Marton). A person may by guided by the noblest of ideals and have a cause as pure as gold or as radiant as the sun, but the moment they have absolute power there cause will fall apart and all will have been for not. In Animal Farm by George Orwell, he exemplifies this ideal as we follow Napoleon and his rise to power, or rather his fall from grace towards complete degradation. Over the progression of the novel Napoleon tries to actualize the dream of the other farm animals as he works towards the dream of reaping what one sows . In the process, he is put into a leadership position where he shows, the corrosive effect that power has his morals as the story progresses displaying how power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Main Points: The story begins with Old Major, who is a respected on the farm, and who had given a speech that stirred the animals emotions towards the idea of rebellion. He used his power of respect and trust to persuade the others to pursue the vision in his dream by stating, Nearly the whole of the production of our labor is stolen from us by human beings. • 25. Crowd Psychology The question that I intend to study is: How do shy people react in a crowd? (do they become aggressive/ assertive as per mob psychology, or shrink as per their personality)? There are various theories regarding the mode of behavior in a crowd. Some, such as Freud, posit that people behavior changes in a crowd and they become more restless and less individualistic. Mob theory, in fact, is born form this which asserts that crowds are the source of volatile conduct where diverse people gang together for a particular cause. Minds merge and each person s enthusiasm becomes increased as a result. On the other hand, you have the Convergence theory that posits that the cause is born beforehand and that people join the crowd in order to put their cause into practice. The crowd, in other words, enables them to accomplish their objective and it makes them more enthusiastic and entrenched in their mission. Social psychologists leBon (1895) and Zimbardo (1969) see the crowd as an instigator of individuation. Stimuli such as mergence into a larger whole, the rush of the environment, the pressure of the crowd, the sensory overload and so forth blur mental input and causes a deindivdualistic individual to appear. One thing that is remarkable about all of these theories is that they tend to generalize assuming categorical behavior to all individuals and providing the aspect of crowd with anthropomorphic qualities. Indeed, Schweingruber and Wohlstein (PsyBlog.com) point out that crowd ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Can it do more harm than good? In this case it did. Truth only brought about more pain, conflict, and trouble than if it had not been told. When our narrator is conversing with Anwar Gilel on the fountain steps, Gilel has made an astounding realization. I ve just realized that I m a student among competing students in a school which throws together students from antagonistic little lanes, in an alley in the middle of warring alleys, that I m a creature among millions of creatures both seen and unseen on a ball of mud awhirl amid a solar system over which I have no control, that this solar system is itself lost in endless space ... The Effect of Task Complexity on the Relation Between... 1.Introduction In this study I want to look at the effect of task complexity on the relationship between team based incentives and performance. I will thus try to find whether task complexity is a moderating variable in the relation between incentives and performance and specifically try to find whether this effect differs for individual incentives and team incentives. When looking at incentive contracts in management accounting literature, usually theories from the field of economics and psychology are combined. In some circumstances these theories can lead to quite opposing predictions of the effect of incentives on performance. In general incentive contracts are a decision influencing control tool used to make sure that people s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example Lazear (2000) empirically finds in a manufacturing environment that pay for performance increases productivity with 44%. On the other hand Bonner et al. (2000) find that only in about 50 percent of the experiments they examined, financial performance led to improvements in productivity. This thus means that the relationship between incentives and performance may be dependent on the situational circumstances and they do not work in every environment. Specifically in their review of experiments Bonner et al. (2000) find that when the complexity of the task increases (relative to the skill of the participants), the likelihood of observing a positive effect of incentives on performance decrease. Bailey and Fessler (2011) also find that monetary incentives are more effective when the task is less complex. On the other hand in a review of empirical studies on financial incentives and performance Jenkins et al. (1999) find that financial incentives are generally related to output quantity but not to quality. Furthermore, they find task type is independent of the relation between financial incentives and performance. If the performance on a complex task is more difficult to measure, the agent s effort thus has less influence on the performance measure (more noise, less sensitivity) and the measure is less effective. All the above studies are concerned with individual incentives. Apart from research on individual incentives there is also a lot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whether it be a formal or informal education, we all approach obstacles that keep us away from a direction we may have our mind or even our heart set on. In this essay, I will describe my experiences in which my education has brought me close to losing my temper and self confidence. I used to groom the knots of her black and white coat that would pile up on her belly. But, one day, I remember coming across a ball like lump under her skin. I moved it around to see if it bothered her, but she just lay there with her belly up, waiting for me to finish. The next morning, my dad and I took her to the vet and found out they were benign tumors, but should be removed before they could turn into something more serious. My family struggled to find the funds to remove the lumps. My love for animals, and particularly for my dog, Lyn Yang, quickly turned into dreams of being able to remove the lumps myself. But at that point, I was helpless. I thought, maybe one day, I d be a veterinarian and able to rid animals of their problems. That was the beginning of the dream. Growing up, I mostly stuck by my parents and they didn t stimulate my interest in animals. Even with all the time we spent at the vet, I never thought to speak to a veterinarian. What did I know about job shadowing? I now realize the importance of having real life role models, and someone to speak to about my goals and aspirations. It s like Sonia Sotomayor said, When a young person, even a gifted one, grows up without proximate living examples of what she may aspire to become, her goal remains abstract. In those days, in my environment, my dream to become a veterinarian gradually diminished. So much diminished during my teenage years. I found my mind shrinking. I could feel my dream getting smaller and smaller. Instead of choosing a profession that could drive me, I let me community drive me instead and it got the best of me. Whether you identify as a Republican, a Democrat, or somewhere in between, there is no denying that Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are two highly controversial candidates. While it is difficult to tell where most Americans stand on the election issue, it is easy to see that ancient Chinese Legalist thinkers would be staunch supporters of Donald Trump. Legalist ideas seem to be the foundation upon which Trump s Republican Party was built. Even Trump s slogan, Make America Great Again, is echoed in the Legalist notion of becoming a strong country with impenetrable borders. Though I, along with many Americans, disagree with Trump on many points, his taxand welfare policies seem to be based on logic, especially in the context of Chinese history. However, America is not ready for a president who has illustrated such a flagrant disregard for the law. Just as the Legalist regime in China was short lived, so should be Trump s time in the limelight. Han Feizi and Shang Yang, Legalist thinkers in ancient China, would vote for Donald Trump in the upcoming election. This transfer of ions is what generates the electrical impulse of the heart and causes the heart to act as a single unit instead of individual cells (Marieb Hoehn, 2013). The contractile cells sustain stable membrane resting potential when they are unstimulated, however, the resting potential of the autorhythmic cells, that create the intrinsic conduction system, is unstable and is constantly depolarizing, which is called pacemaker potentials and initiate the action potential that causes the heart to contract (Marieb Hoehn, 2013). The pace maker potential occurs because of the ion channels which causes hyperpolarization at the end of the action potentials. • 38. Kierkegaard Research Paper Kierkegaard on Human Self Kierkegaard points out human being to be spirit. He further clarifies that this spirit is encompassed in the self. He further elucidates that the self is the relationship that relates itself to itself. This means that this relating itself to itself is what defines self. This relationship that relates itself to the self must have been established by itself or something else within the boundaries of the self. The relation he further notes is the third term that has established the entire relation. Human self is thus the relation that relates to itself and in relating to itself relates to something else. This self is what defines personality or individuality. We have self because of the consciousness we humans have of ourselves. According to Kierkegaard, we can only relate to this self if we are aware of ourselves and have the capacity to relate to self consciousness. This self, according to Kierkegaard, is what make us go for selection and making choices.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kierkegaard therefore says that human beings are subject to death which will curtail their existence and it is upon this that Kierkegaard says that human beings are infinite. Infinite is the eternal aspect of human life which is not subject to time limitations and boundaries. This then contradicts the definition of human beings as self; human beings are a synthesis process that links both the finite and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Caste Oppression In India Oppression in India has been happening for over a thousand years with little to no action being done to stop the caste discrimination. There has been oppression occurring in India against Dalits, people below the caste system who are also known as Untouchables, and to lower caste people because of their culture and their religion, Hinduism. In order to rid castediscriminationfacing Dalits and lower castes in India, people of India must know and evaluate the history of the oppression, the current situation India is in, and what has been done, needs to be done to solve this issue. In India, there has been oppression against the Dalits for decades, and the main cause of the oppression is due to their main religion and their culture. For example, while not all of India practices the religion of Hinduism, Tom O Neill, an expert from National Geographic states most of the country does practice Hinduism, While India s constitution forbids caste discrimination and specifically abolishes untouchability, Hinduism, the religion of 80 per cent of India s population, governs daily life with its hierarchies and rigid social codes (O Neill). The majority of India does practices Hinduism, but religion isn t the only cause of oppression, caste discrimination is also part of Indian culture. Therefore, one doesn t have to practice Hinduism to feel like it is okay to oppress Dalits. In addition, while the Dalits are being oppressed, BBC News states that higher castes are very privileged ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Summary Of Butler s Speech Sounds By William Butler As indicated in the quotation through the little boy s gesture of covering up Rye s mouth when she spoke, communication is rare in the dystopian society that Butler s Speech Sounds took place in. Communication was rare due to an illness that caused language impairment which triggered the loss of skills such as reading and writing, and the loss of other intellectual abilities. It is indicated that due to the illness, society broke down, as shown by the lack of vehicles and the dissolution of law enforcement. Towards the beginning of the short story, fights erupt on the bus that Rye is in because of a disagreement, and with no form of communicationavailable to solve the issue, the men on the bus resort to their fists. Eventually, the fight is broken up by an individual wearing a Los Angeles Police Department uniform, who throws gas into the bus to disperse people out of it. After this, the man who dispersed the crowd motioned to Rye to come with him, prompting the bystanders to group Rye with him, and they started making gestures accusing Rye of sexually being with the man. It is telling that even without a voice to speak, the bystanders automatically objectified Rye as a sexual object, and that objectification could be done with gestures. Historically, the dissolution of a society tends to change the powerstructures within it, here Butler shows how the association of women as sexual objects goes beyond the power structures of society, and how it is inherent in the ... • 42. Analysis Of Dalton Conley s You May Ask Yourself Dalton Conley s book, You May Ask Yourself, defines sociological imagination as, The ability to connect the most basic, intimate aspects of an individual s life to seemingly impersonal and remote historical forces (Conley 2015, pg. A 11). Sociological Imagination is the idea of being able to step outside of the box, and evaluate society from an alternative point of view. Symbolic Interactionism, norms, socialization, and the idea of understanding yourself vs. understanding the social aspect of society, are some of the key concepts mentioned throughout this paper, to help break apart what the sociological imagination consists of. Society is changing a lot, and change can sometimes make it hard to cope with the world around us. Sociological imagination is a lot deeper than just common sense. Author of The Sociological Imagination, C. Wright Mills states, Talking about sociological imagination is what makes us feel more grounded in the face of all these changes (C. Wright Mills). If I keep an open mind, and pay attention to the larger world around me, I am better to understand the connections of what is going on in my individual life, and what is going on in the social world. The sociological imagination has two lenses to it, the individual lens, and the society lens. The individual lens deals with personal troubles; Individuals comparing themselves to everyone around them. For example, with the media, we see all these commercials, and ads that portray false ... Well... not my house as my house had been set ablaze during Sam s fruitless battle with Drake Marwin. That word perfectly illustrates Sam... fruitless , otherwise conceited works just as well. Anyhow, Pete is still playing his game that lacks batteries. Batteries as well as a plethora of other amenities have become uncommon throughout the FAYZ, but, thankfully, this does not bother Petey. When I began to struggle to find batteries for Pete s game, I worried that I would be unable to control Pete. It is amazing how Little Pete is able to adapt to the lack of batteries. He somehow just imagines his game. Little Pete is the most powerful person in the FAYZ and his game keeps his powers at bay. I have hypothesized that he manufactured the anomaly we live in today. It is still undecided if Petey even knew what he was doing when he created this place, but I cannot let people know that he caused this hell.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (2) While noone had the slightest idea of where this young boy came from, how old he was or even who his parents were, they had remembered seeing Bimbo right at his side. Bimbo was Tito s everything; he was his nurse, his mother, his pillow and his father. I think Bimbo acted more like a boy because he would always bring the food home, and although it had become a regular thing for them, I feel like Bimbo was more in control that Tito. Tito, on the other hand, never got the food, or even looked for it. He acts more like dogs, as if theres always going to be food on a silver platter and he just has to wait. ... • 46. Essay On The Subconscious And Subhuman Temper In Wuthering... The Subconscious and Subhuman Temper In Young Goodman Brown , Wuthering Heights, and Hamlet, subconscious and subhuman tendencies indicate the detrimental tolls of obsession inflicted upon the main character. Dreams symbolize the onset of an obsession and imply that the seemingly harmless nightmares we experience may be more than merely a bad dream and instead serve as an indicator of the deterioration of our mental stability. Animalistic vocabulary dehumanizes and reduces characters to a more primitive form causing readers to question their understanding of what it truly means to be human. Ultimately, this corruption of the mind leads to undesirable thoughts and seemingly inhuman attributes, all out of the victim s control. In all cases, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In chapter nine, she discloses her fear that her dream may be a warning of what will become of her if she neglects her heart s desires and succumbs to her obsession with wealth by marrying Edgar Linton. Distressed and in search of consolation, Catherine asks her maid, Nelly, do you never dream queer dreams? (BrontГ« 49). Catherine proceeds to say, I ve dreamt in my life dreams that have stayed with me ever after, and changed my ideas: they ve gone through me, like wine through water, and altered the colour of my mind (49). The simile used here, like wine through water, is symbolic of herself and her obsession. The water, pure and clean, is herself and the wine, addictive and manipulative, is her obsession. Once wine is poured into water, they combine to create a new solution. This analogy shows the way that her fundamental self and obsession have intertwined over time and the effects have been irreversible. In her most recent dream, she finds herself in heaven but feels misplaced. She fears that this dream is foreshadowing how she will feel if she marries Edgar Linton. Although she would possess a desirable status, much like how many yearn to go to heaven, it is not what she truly wants.
