The Rights Of The National Anthem
For the land of the free, and the home of the brave the remarkable final words of our nation s anthem.
There has been recent controversy about football players, and many other athletes kneeling during the
Star Spangled Banner to protest against the tragedies happening in America day after day. The First
Amendment gives these athletes the privilege to express those rights by kneeling. People should stand
for the national anthem because it is a sign of respect and appreciation for our country. On August
14th, San Francisco 49ers quarterback, Colin Kaepernick made the choice to kneel during the national
anthem. His decision to kneel was because he could not stand in front of a flag that oppresses black
people in its nation. Kaepernick s kneel turned into a nationwide protest for people of color being
mistreated in the United States. Did Kaepernick know what the flag actually represented before he
took his costly action?
A flag is an emblem for any country. For the United States, it represents our freedoms as human
beings, as outlined in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Not showing respect for the flag, shows
disrespect for the individuals who have fought for the ideals it represents. The colors of the flag
represent various things. Ruth Apperson Rous wrote a poem using personification with the U.S. flag
as the narrator. My colors symbolize the patriotic ideals and spiritual qualities of the citizens of my
country. My red stripes proclaim the fearless courage and

Mrs Dalloway
Analysis of Mrs. Dalloway – Virginia Woolf Mrs. Dalloway, published in 1925, is a romantic drama
with deep psychological approaching in to the world of urban English society in the summer of 1923,
five years after the end of World War I. The book begins in the morning with the arrangements for a
party Clarissa Dalloway will give and it ends late in the evening when the guests are all leaving. There
are many flashbacks to tell us the past of each character, but it does not leave the range of those few
hours. It presents several stream of consciousness devices: indirect interior monologue, time and space
montage, flashbacks and psychological free association based mainly on memory, with the support of
imagination and the senses (mainly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Septimus sensibility is the same as Clarissa s, but he does not control it as she does. She retains her
awareness of reality while she responds to it. Septimus, by contrast, is not always able to distinguish
between his personal response and the external reality in his madness, he feels that if the birds sing
they must be speaking to him; if the aero plane writes in the sky it must be signaling to him. Even
though the two never meet, these two correspond in that they attempt to maintain possession of
themselves, of their souls. Almost all the action occurs in the thoughts of characters, and, the reader
must piece together the story from random pieces of information that Woolf provides. The point of
view changes from one character to the other so naturally that the reader only realizes it much later.
Woolf s characters reveal their depths gradually and slowly; fragments of thought and memory emerge
as they respond to and interact with their environment and other characters , and from these fragments
we piece together each character s past. While most conventional 3rd person narratives stick close to
one character, this narrative gets close to many. The characters in this type of narrative, especially
Mrs. Dalloway are round, this is, are complex, they have been through a process of transformation
throughout the novel being able to in a convincing way surprise us, as they are built based on various
ideas and qualities leaving apart the idea of the character mind.

Juxtaposition In Aeneid
Virgil, in his epic poem Aeneid tells a story of Aeneas, a Trojan survivor who travels to Italy, and
becomes the ancestor of Romans. The first part of the epic focuses on his travels, while the second
part describes his victory over the Latins. Virgil did not create Aeneas, he was already a known epic
hero who also appears in Iliad. Virgil took all his stories and wrote Aeneid, a story of glory, wars, gods
and heroes. Venus as a benefactor of the Trojans and more importantly his mother helps Aeneas
throughout the poem. Most notably, she asks her husband Vulcan, the god of fire and forge, to craft a
set of armor and weapons for Aeneas, in order to give him an added advantage in a coming war. She
reminds Vulcan that she never asked for help during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On one side there is Augustus Caesar leading Italians with the senate and mighty gods and on the
other side comes Anthony with barbaric might and motley arms (109). He describes Egypt as all the
might of the East and Bactra, the end of the earth in order to one more emphasize the grandness of
these countries. It sounds similar to the first passage because Virgil wants to show how important the
Battle of Actium was for Augustus. All rush at once he writes as he describes the war. He uses an
analogy of high mountains clashing with high maintains in order to express the scale of this event
(109). He even mentions the gods who are also pinned against one another. It is Egyptian god Anubis
against Roman gods, Venus, Minerva and Neptune. Once Apollo sees this event he bends his bow
from above and In terror at all this all Egypt and India, all Albanians, all Sabaeans turned to flee (111).
He describes Cleopatra s reaction as the queen herself you could see her calling, tempting the winds,
her sails spreading and now, now about to let her sheets run free he wants to show that even this great
fearless woman had to flee out of fear. When he describes her image on the shield, he writes that the
God of Fire was the one who depicted her, as pale with imminent death (111). While the queen was

How Did Germany Build The Atlantic Wall
On March 23rd, 1942 Hitler issued the order to build the Atlantic Wall. He wanted the work
completed by May 1st of 1943. Construction began in September of 1942. The plan called for the
construction of 15,000 separate concrete emplacements to be managed by 30,000 soldiers. The wall
was covered with barbed wire entanglements and equipped with machine gun nets. Also a part of the
wall were three large dome bunkers for heavy rail guns. The purpose of this wall and all of the
equipment that came with it was to protect the western coast of Europe against invasion. Three
elements that constituted Germany s defenses were firepower, fortifications, and manpower. Many

Causes Of The Vietnam War An Unpopular War
The Unpopular War
The Vietnam War was the communist government of North Vietnam against South Vietnam at the
beginning. However, this time the United States and the Soviet Union are in the cold war. The United
States helps South Vietnam in order to oppose communism. Then the United States involvement
escalated. This made the United States become the main battle country. The Vietnam War was one of
the most unpopular wars in American history. The Vietnam War was an unpopular war because the
spread of communism to south Vietnam had no direct threat against the US, and we fought the war for
someone else using our men and money, also many civilians died.
The Vietnam War was an unpopular war because the United States has fought a war that does not have
a direct bearing on the United States, it has not only ended in failure but also has not benefited from it.
The Vietnam War was originally a unified war. It was a civil war. It s like the American Civil War. The
United States should not participate in this war, but the United States joined the war and is one of the
main force. Some Americans believed that the Communist threat was used as a scapegoat to hide
imperialistic intentions, while others thought this is an act of interference in the internal affairs of
other countries, during the Vietnam War. That made the Vietnam War become one of the most
unpopular wars in American history.
The United States invested a great deal of money in the Vietnam War. The Department of Defense
(DOD) reports that the United States spent about $168 billion (worth around $950 billion in 2011
dollars) in the entire war. At that rate, the United States spent approximately $168,000 for an enemy
killed. (http://www.vn agentorange.org/edmaterials/cost_of_vn_war.html ) As can be seen from the
data, the United States not only spent a lot of money but also has low efficiency. Inflation in the 1960s
caused great troubles to the U.S. economy. Since 1965, many U.S. troops and equipment have
continuously flowed into the Vietnam battlefield, causing more and more the burden of military
spending in the United States. The Vietnam War intensified the trend of inflation. If the United States
put these money into education or medical care, will have a

Tudor Succession Problems Essays
Tudor Succession Problems
The Tudor period is unique in that it is marked by succession difficulties in every generation. The
Tudor dynasty was plagued by poor health, short lives and a shortage of male claimants to the throne.
For three successive monarchs the throne passed not from ruler to child, but from sibling to sibling
and three consecutive monarchs died childless. Henry VIII s search for a suitable male heir to his
throne had far reaching ramifications. This period is distinctive in that it would start the precedent of
determining the succession by statute in consultation with Parliament. The parliamentary enactments
and wills that he had created complicated the succession issue for future generations in the attempt to

Even if his Beaufort line could be considered for the throne, Henry s mother would be in line to
succeed before him. It was in fact remarkable that Henry VII ever succeeded to the throne and
England accepted him as king for Henry VII was a former attainted exile who did not have a strong
hereditary claim to the throne. But it was his victory at Bosworth field that brought him the throne, not
his descent; his weak hereditary claim gave his accession some semblance of legitimacy. Bosworth
helped him consolidate his dynasty for it not only eliminated some of the other principle claimants to
the English throne, it was regarded by contemporaries as an expression of divine will, as Henry would
tell parliament the true judgement of God in granting him victory over his enemy in the field. In order
to further consolidate his claim Henry married Elizabeth of York. He did so partially at the request of
Parliament, partly because he could not afford the political price of going back on his pre Bosworth
promise and most importantly to prevent anyone with ambitions for the throne from marrying
Elizabeth, who had the stronger claim. However the succession was by no means secure in Henry VII
s reign. When Henry VII s heir Prince Arthur died prematurely on April 2, 1502 Prince Henry was
only ten, and if he were not to survive there remained only his sisters Margaret and Mary. Henry VII

Unpaved Roads In Ancient Rome
The importance of the paved and unpaved roads leading out of the heart of Rome was crucial to the
spread, advancement, and growth of the Empire from where the roads came from (Beers, World
history: patterns of civilization, 1993, pp.115). These roads were built from about 300 BC through the
expansion and consolidation of the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire (Forbes, Robert J. Studies
in Ancient Technology. Leiden: Brill, 1993. Print). Roman roads were a part of the development of the
Roman state. Roads were also a visible indicator of the might of Rome, and they helped unify what
was a vast melting pot of cultures, races, and institutions. The Roman road system spanned more than
400,000 km of roads, including over 80,500 km of paved roads. When Rome reached the height of its
power, no fewer than 29 great military highways radiated from the city. ( Roads in Ancient Rome

For this reason many roads began and ended in a triumphal arch, and the imperial official associated

day, stretching from Spain, Britain, France, Italy, Asia Minor, Greece, Palestine, Egypt, and North

empire, and connected them to the Roman Capital City. (Fisher, World history for Christian schools,

Biography on Tupac Shakur Essay
Biography on Tupac Shakur In much the same fashion that Kurt Cobain defined the alternative rock
music scene, Tupac Shakur defined the hip hop scene as we know it today. What made Tupac (also
known as 2pac) so special was his enormous talent, his on screen friendly looks, and the sense that he
was real and talked the talk, while walking the walk. Since his death, there s been a deluge of
speculation on who and why, and even if, but unfortunately still no concrete answers exist for any of
these questions. Born June 16, 1971, Tupac Amaru Shakur, who was named after Tupac Amaru, the

run ins with the law were almost as frequent as when he was growing up. In 1992 he was arrested
when a stray bullet killed a 6 year old child during a scuffle between Shakur and two others, though
later charges against Shakur were dropped. In 1993 Tupac was arrested for allegedly shooting 2 off

again dropped. Ironically, one of the Butts County officers was shot in the ass, and in 1998 Deputy

sexual abuse against a 19 year old woman in a New York City luxury hotel. Shakur s legal troubles
continued in 1994 when he punched out Menace II Society codirector Allen Hughes and served a 15
day jail sentence for his actions. The sexual charge came to haunt Shakur in that 1994 as he was
convicted and sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison, and to add insult to injury, Shakur was shot 5 times

Safe Drinking Water Act Essay
A federal law that was enacted in 1974 to protect contaminated water supplies to the public was called
the Safe Drinking Water Act. Through this law the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is given
the authority to oversee water suppliers throughout the US and set standards for the contaminants
contained in water supplies. Prior to 1974, State health departments had the principal duty for
monitoring and regulating public consuming water substances. The U.S. Public health provider

long as consumed for years. and a few researchers argue that even harmful chemicals, once consumed
at very low doses over long periods, cause few risks. Others argue that the price of removing minute

drinking water has contained chemicals that are associated with health risks include Scottsdale, Ariz.;
El Paso, Tex., and Reno, Nev. Test results analyzed by The Times show their drinking water has

Why Danone developed Danimal yogurt for the South African market
South Africa had a big income inequality gap with its market being at the bottom of the pyramid with
more than half of the population in the 4 5 tier range having less than $1500 in purchasing power
parity in US dollars. Danone wanted to capture the market by introducing a low priced product to the
low income people. With research by local Universities and the SA Medical Research Council, the

Is Danone successful in addressing the needs of the bottom of the pyramid? What can they do better?
Pretorious had the 4P s in mind when product was developed. The price was initially set at R1.00 in
2005. This was beneficial since the transaction would require one coin interaction which made it
simple and valuable for the targeted children s market. To avoid additional margins added onto the
final price, the price was printed on the lid. Danone themselves just broke even with no profits.
To address nutritional shortcomings in the typical diet of a child from a poor family especially vitamin
A, iron and zinc the company wanted to enrich the yoghurt with these nutrients. The yoghurt also
needed an extended long shelf life due to lack of electricity and fridges.
Danone promoted their product, by associating the name Danimal . Danimal was combination of
Danone and animal , which gave a sense of pride in Africa. A colorful energetic leopard as the logo
appealed to children, while the nutritional facts appealed to the adults.
They created a product for the bottom of the pyramid that was initially introduced into the Gauteng
province but later expanded into two other provinces, Kwazulu Natal and the Free State.
I think that Danone did a great job by providing the needs of the bottom of the pyramid. They spent
little money and used existing equipment with no marketing. They made a product that was

Anabolic Steroids Case Study
In the ongoing issue of the use of anabolic steroids, one of the recurring statements made by groups of
people opposed to their use, is that steroids are harmful to your health. Anything that you put into your
body can cause side effects and health issues. However, many people would argue that the responsible
use of steroids is in no way detrimental to your health. There can be health related side effects
associated with steroid use, but even most of these come with long term misuse of the hormone in
question. Clinical case studies continue to link anabolic steroid administration with myocardial

While certain steroids can raise blood pressure, which can cause anxiety, this can usually be kept
under control by using a responsible dosage. Studies have proven that testosterone makes males feel
positive and motivated. In addition, similar studies also suggest that anabolic steroids amplify
personality traits that people already possess before introducing any exogenous hormones into their
system. So as far as roid rage goes, if a person acts angry and full of rage while they are using
steroids, there is a pretty good chance that they exhibited the same type of behavior before they put
anything extra into their body. The same thing can be said for depression. If you are depressed while
on steroids, you most likely were depressed before you started. There are many other arguments that
can be presented against anabolic steroid use, with the majority of them based on myth, conjecture,
and misinformation. For every argument made against the use of anabolic steroids, an argument can
be made for, most often based in fact. This brings to light the amount of anti steroid propaganda that
exists in our society. Just like many other things in life, the use of anabolic steroids ultimately rests

Maria Montessori Curriculum Essay
The Montessori Curriculum Model Dina Fikeru, Evealin Cruz, Olga Cruz, Althea Robinson, Talaya
Thompson Montessori Curriculum 1. Underlying Philosophy Montessori education curriculum is
based on the philosophy of continuous development, love, caring and uniqueness. In the Montessori
classroom, every child is provided with unique opportunities to develop both moral and cognitive
skills in areas that motivate students (Isaacs, 2015). For example, if a child loves construction, the
teacher may provide construction materials such as small boxes, tapes and superglue that is necessary
for assembling the boxes together. This makes learning both interactive and enjoyable. The role of
significant adults such as teachers is to provide guidance on what the child should do to realize his/her
goals (Isaacs, 2015). For example, if the child is defeated on how to assemble the boxes, the teacher
should guide the child until the child has fully mastered the task. 2. Historical Perspectives The history
of Montessori s curriculum dates back to 1906 when Maria Montessori founded the first Children s
House by the name Casa dei Bambini in Rome, Italy (Isaacs, 2015). It was in this children s house that
Maria developed a keen interest on how children develop their cognitive abilities and moral behavior.
She realized that every child possesses unique skills and talents that should not be generalized in a
single classroom (Ansari Winsler, 2014). In other words, Montessori

Australian Greens Research Paper
The Australian Greens represent the progressive face of Australian politics and have formulated their
policy positions with a reformist framework. Whilst the Greens origins and expansion are primarily a
consequence of new social movements, splits within the ALP and its supporter base have enabled
them to expand their political voice. The Greens can trace their origins to local party branches across
Australia that have merged together to become Australia s the nationally recognised party Greens
Party. The Nuclear Disarmament party and the Franklin River campaign bought the Greens onto the
national stage and revealed the power of social movements in elevating the Greens into a political
force. However, the ALP s failure to present themselves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ALP has taken a back seat to accommodating new social movements as it seeks to take whatever
measures necessary to achieving government. In response, the Greens have used social movements as
a platform for the party s campaigning. The dynamics of election campaigning has evolved in
Australia and has seen the major parties produce less emphasis on traditional ideology (Katz and Mair
2009:762) in their attempts to winning elections by targeting swing electorates. Therefore, the Greens
have emerged as a party of principle in the face of blurring distinctions between the two major parties
who seek to freeze out the minor parties and maintain their electoral dominance. Minor parties have
fallen victim to elements of Cartelization in Australian politics which aims to prevent any challenges
to the dominance of the two major parties. Furthermore, the Greens have garnered support through the
belief that the Liberals as well as the ALP have become indifferent to the desires of ordinary citizens
as policies become part of the state than they are policies of any particular party or coalition (Katz and
Mair 2009:759). The Cartelization of Australian Politics justifies how divisions within the ALP have
played a significant role in the origins of the Greens as voters seek to challenge the dominant two

Alcohol Consumption And Metabolic Syndrome
Both alcohol consumption and metabolic syndrome are risk factors for development of fatty liver
diseases with similar pathology which ultimately can result in development of liver cancer.3, 4, 24
273, 4, 23 26 Using a two stage mouse model in which tumor initiation by DEN was followed by a
35% high fat diet, we have previously reported increased tumor incidence, suggestive of a diet related
promotional effect.11 Consistent with these findings, in the current study, we observed increased
adenoma incidence and tumor multiplicity in the HF/CAS group relative to chow controls. More
importantly, substituting SPI for casein in the diet produced a marked reduction in hepatic lipid
accumulation, inflammation and cell proliferation, resulting in lower tumor incidence and multiplicity.
SPI feeding prevented liver weight increase and hepatic steatosis in HF fed mice relative to mice fed
casein (Figure 1). In rats, replacing casein with soy in various feeding regimes has also led to
significant reductions in hepatic weight and steatosis .17, 28, 29 This was found to be associated with
hepatic activation of PPAR signaling pathways and inhibition of SREBP signaling which might
promote fatty acid utilization over fatty acid synthesis.17 Similar mechanisms may be operating in our
mouse model, as SPI induces genes involved in fatty acid uptake, fatty acid degradation and oxidative
phosphorylation. The employed model demonstrates protective effects of SPI in early tumorigenesis.

Behavior Disorders And Attention Deficit Hyperactivity...
Behavior disorder is defined as Any of various forms of behavior that are considered inappropriate by
members of the social group to which an individual belongs. (The American Heritage Stedman s
Medical Dictionary, 2015) Due to its broad definition, methods of identification, diagnosis, and
treatments are varied and controversial. After my son was diagnosed with Sensory Processing
Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in November of 2012, I recognized a stigma
within the community surrounding behavior disorders that made it difficult to find the appropriate
support for my son and my family. This paper will discuss the causes of behavior disorders, methods
for proper identification, and problems that can arise in the home, school, and community of a child
with a behavior disorder. Behavior disorders vary in symptoms and name, and can be divided into
several classifications, including anxiety disorders, disruptive behavior disorders, emotional disorders,
dissociative disorders, and pervasive developmental disorders. In addition to Sensory Processing
Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Bipolar Disorder and Autism fall under the
behavior umbrella. Like many other mental illnesses, direct causes of these disorders are hard to
pinpoint. Although the exact cause of most mental illnesses is not known, it is becoming clear through
research that many of these conditions are caused by a combination of biological, psychological and

The Intellectual Property
The lawyer Gregory T. Victoroff said At its best, sampling benefits society by creating a valuable new
contribution to modern music literature. At its worst, sampling is vandalism and stealing . Half way
between creativity and plagiarism, sampling is a controversial issue in the music industry and the
infringement of copyright. In this assignment I m going to be discussing copyright and intellectual
property rights in relation to the music industry.
The Statute of Anne, was the first form of law that protected intellectual property, invented in the UK
in 1709. The ultimate goal of intellectual property law is that human knowledge is increased and made
accessible to everyone. Under the umbrella of intellectual property, there are four rights that protect
creative works: performers rights, moral rights, trademarks and copyright. This rights need to exist in
order to protect artistic integrity and give entitlement to the authors. Intellectual property covers
different rights in the creative industries, especially, copyright is the frame that governs all the
activities in the music industry.
Moral rights are the basis of artistic integrity, as opposed to copyright that gives rights to receive
economic reward for the use of a creative work. Moral rights include the right of paternity, which is
the right to be identified as the author of the work. False attribution right gives right to not have a
work falsely attributed to you. And integrity right, is the right of an author

Theme Of Good And Evil In The Picture Of Dorian Gray
What is the true meaning of good and evil. Good is that which is morally right and evil is profoundly
immoral and malevolent. Good vs evil is a prominent theme used in literature. Two authors Oscar
Wilde and Robert Louis Stevenson explore the theme of good vs evil in their novels The Picture of
Dorian Gray and The Strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. In the novel both main characters
Dorian gray and Dr. Jekyll are overthrown by the evil. Also in both novels you can see how
influences, interactions, and beauty ultimately take them down the wrong path.
In The Picture of Dorian Gray the main character Dorian gray was first an innocent man and role
model to artist Basil Howard who represented humanity. Overtime influences, interactions, and beauty
got the best of him. In The Picture of Dorian Gray Basil says He has a simple and a beautiful nature.
Your aunt was quite right in what she said of him. Don t spoil him. Don t try to influence him. Your
influence would be bad this shows how even at the very beginning Basil knew how Lord Henry would
influence him in a negative way. As we read on we can see how lord Henry teaches him to only care
about beauty which causes Dorian to believe beauty is the only thing that matters in life. Lord Henry
was the main cause of the corruption of Dorian s soul. In the novel another quote Lord Henry says is
Oh, she is better than good she is beautiful, . This demonstrates how from the very get go he told
Dorian that beauty is better than goodness. The poisonous book was another way Dorian was
overtaken by the evil. In the novel it says It was a poisonous book. The heavy odor of incense seemed
to cling about its pages and to trouble the brain. The mere cadence of the sentences, the subtle
monotony of their music, so full as it was of complex refrains and movements elaborately repeated,
produced in the mind of the lad, as he passed from chapter to chapter, a form of reverie, a malady of
dreaming, that made him unconscious of the falling day and creeping shadows. This quote proves how
the evil has already taken over him and now the book is taking over his soul. A clear piece of evidence
that shows readers how the evil has really won in The Picture of Dorian Gray is the

Teen Pregnancy And Birth Rates
The increase of pregnancy that ranged from 30 percent to 50 percent between 1971 and 1979 was due
to the large increase in premarital sexual activity for young white girls(Kohli, 1995). Studies found an
increase in contraceptive use among sexually active teens from 50 percent to 70 percent users between
1971 through 1979 (Kohli, 1995). This increase in contraceptive use was not enough to outweigh the
increase in premarital sexual activity. This only increased the rate of pregnancies in teenage girls.
There has still been a decrease in actual teenage births as a result of an increasing amount of
pregnancies being terminated from abortions (Kohli, 1995).
According to Clemmit(2010), although there is still a lot of hype surrounding teen pregnancy and birth
rates, teens have been less sexually activity, they have been using contraceptive, and getting fewer
abortions more recently than they did in earlier decades. This shows that the current generation is
using prevention techniques that were previously not being adopted by teens. To illustrate, teen births
and pregnancies have been declining in the United States since the late 1950s. Although that might
sound like the problem has subsided, the teen birth rates remain much higher in the U.S. than in many
other industrialized societies, such as Canada and Western Europe. To illustrate, in 2007, Germany s
rate was about one quarter the U.S. rate, France s was one sixth and the Netherlands one
ninth(Cemmit, 2010).

The Railroad Earth Summary
In the poem The RailRoad Earth Jack Kerouac, a pioneer of the Beat Generation, narrates his daily life
as a railroad worker in the 1960 s. He begins his story in an alley behind the Southern Pacific Station
anticipating the coming commuter frenzy at the station. He offers a unique perspective as a bystander
that looks upon the city and the two conflicting cultures that divide it. He puts on display not just the
everyday hustle and bustle of corporate America, but exposes the low down and dirty underbelly of
the city. He uncovers a layer to the city that is deeper than its corporates exterior. One of poverty and
hopelessness that swallows the city like a pothole yet ultimately lets light to a valuable idea of
freedom and self expression. In his poem The RailRoad Earth , Kerouac presents the real San
Francisco. He disregards the city s fancy and sophisticated corporate image that many believe it to be
for the real and raw, poverty stricken city it is.
In fact the corporate exterior is composed of commuters, who are not native to the city, while the soul
of the city lies in the hands of the homeless and low income people of color who actually live there.
These commuters are businessmen who come from the railroad earth , the outside lands connected to
the city by the railroad. The men of the railroad earth manifested in San Francisco because of the
trains, buses, and cars that merely pass through the city. Just like the railroads that pass through San
Francisco on route

about a boy who runs for Student Council President who is attracted to a girl who also decides to run
against him. At the beginning of the film, my initial reaction was that the film was going to be very
difficult to view and interpret due to the fact that it was produced in a foreign language that I am not
fluent in. As the opening credits ended, I was much more optimistic about what I was about to

Clear Quartz may also help in bringing clarity to your communication ability and can help to stimulate

stem from childhood trauma. The ancient cultures of Atlantis and Lemuria were believed to have used
clear quartz as a source of rejuvenation, to develop their civilizations in their entirety, and for solar
refraction. Magically, Clear Quartz can be used for a variety of purposes, as it is able to be used with
every other gemstone. This makes it an ideal stone for gridding as well as for crafting magical tools

The Theme Of Cinderella
The clock was alive. It had a ticking heartbeat and the mechanical gears wailed as they slid against
each other. Twelve strikes sounded down the halls and echoed into everyone s ears to hear. The
attendees were all dancing in their fancy apparel, but one particular couple outshined them all. At the
clock s chimes, out dashed the fair maiden only to be followed by her future spouse. One item is left
behind, leaving the gentleman in search of his one and only true love. Sounds familiar? This is the tale
of Cinderella. Various movies from 1950 s until now has deeply incorporated this theme to fit more
modern situations, many items take into effect such as; the narrative, cinematography, mise en scene,
sound, editing and overall theme.

At the dance, she was supposed to meet her mysterious pen pal who was none other than Austin Ames,
the most popular guy at school. Like Cinderella, she went in secret behind her stepmom s back. Upon
leaving the dance, she drops her cellphone and Austin picks it up and is in search of his Cinderella.
Mise en scene is used often in this movie to portray irony. One scene has Sam picking up her best
friend, and his Dad is polishing his car from hood to trunk. This specific car is his most prized
possession and the director made it clear by showing him on his knees with a rag. Later on, his very
own son, wrecks the car. Along with mise en scene, editing is important to this movie. Sam had to beat
the clock and her stepmom to the diner. The editing in between the two vehicles increase the drama
about who will arrive first.
Along with the concept of Cinderella, the movie Cinderfella establishes this theme in a little different
way that changes the dynamic of what makes up a Cinderella movie. Most of the gender roles are
reversed and a guy named Fella is left with his stepmom and two wicked stepbrothers, Maximillian
and Rubert. To gain more money, the stepmother throws a ball to honor a Princess, so she can marry
one of her sons. During the movie, the stepmother wants to know where her deceased husband hid the
money for Fella and Maximillian proposed the

  • 2. The Rights Of The National Anthem For the land of the free, and the home of the brave the remarkable final words of our nation s anthem. There has been recent controversy about football players, and many other athletes kneeling during the Star Spangled Banner to protest against the tragedies happening in America day after day. The First Amendment gives these athletes the privilege to express those rights by kneeling. People should stand for the national anthem because it is a sign of respect and appreciation for our country. On August 14th, San Francisco 49ers quarterback, Colin Kaepernick made the choice to kneel during the national anthem. His decision to kneel was because he could not stand in front of a flag that oppresses black people in its nation. Kaepernick s kneel turned into a nationwide protest for people of color being mistreated in the United States. Did Kaepernick know what the flag actually represented before he took his costly action? A flag is an emblem for any country. For the United States, it represents our freedoms as human beings, as outlined in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Not showing respect for the flag, shows disrespect for the individuals who have fought for the ideals it represents. The colors of the flag represent various things. Ruth Apperson Rous wrote a poem using personification with the U.S. flag as the narrator. My colors symbolize the patriotic ideals and spiritual qualities of the citizens of my country. My red stripes proclaim the fearless courage and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Mrs Dalloway Analysis of Mrs. Dalloway – Virginia Woolf Mrs. Dalloway, published in 1925, is a romantic drama with deep psychological approaching in to the world of urban English society in the summer of 1923, five years after the end of World War I. The book begins in the morning with the arrangements for a party Clarissa Dalloway will give and it ends late in the evening when the guests are all leaving. There are many flashbacks to tell us the past of each character, but it does not leave the range of those few hours. It presents several stream of consciousness devices: indirect interior monologue, time and space montage, flashbacks and psychological free association based mainly on memory, with the support of imagination and the senses (mainly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Septimus sensibility is the same as Clarissa s, but he does not control it as she does. She retains her awareness of reality while she responds to it. Septimus, by contrast, is not always able to distinguish between his personal response and the external reality in his madness, he feels that if the birds sing they must be speaking to him; if the aero plane writes in the sky it must be signaling to him. Even though the two never meet, these two correspond in that they attempt to maintain possession of themselves, of their souls. Almost all the action occurs in the thoughts of characters, and, the reader must piece together the story from random pieces of information that Woolf provides. The point of view changes from one character to the other so naturally that the reader only realizes it much later. Woolf s characters reveal their depths gradually and slowly; fragments of thought and memory emerge as they respond to and interact with their environment and other characters , and from these fragments we piece together each character s past. While most conventional 3rd person narratives stick close to one character, this narrative gets close to many. The characters in this type of narrative, especially Mrs. Dalloway are round, this is, are complex, they have been through a process of transformation throughout the novel being able to in a convincing way surprise us, as they are built based on various ideas and qualities leaving apart the idea of the character mind. ... • 5. Juxtaposition In Aeneid Virgil, in his epic poem Aeneid tells a story of Aeneas, a Trojan survivor who travels to Italy, and becomes the ancestor of Romans. The first part of the epic focuses on his travels, while the second part describes his victory over the Latins. Virgil did not create Aeneas, he was already a known epic hero who also appears in Iliad. Virgil took all his stories and wrote Aeneid, a story of glory, wars, gods and heroes. Venus as a benefactor of the Trojans and more importantly his mother helps Aeneas throughout the poem. Most notably, she asks her husband Vulcan, the god of fire and forge, to craft a set of armor and weapons for Aeneas, in order to give him an added advantage in a coming war. She reminds Vulcan that she never asked for help during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On one side there is Augustus Caesar leading Italians with the senate and mighty gods and on the other side comes Anthony with barbaric might and motley arms (109). He describes Egypt as all the might of the East and Bactra, the end of the earth in order to one more emphasize the grandness of these countries. It sounds similar to the first passage because Virgil wants to show how important the Battle of Actium was for Augustus. All rush at once he writes as he describes the war. He uses an analogy of high mountains clashing with high maintains in order to express the scale of this event (109). He even mentions the gods who are also pinned against one another. It is Egyptian god Anubis against Roman gods, Venus, Minerva and Neptune. Once Apollo sees this event he bends his bow from above and In terror at all this all Egypt and India, all Albanians, all Sabaeans turned to flee (111). He describes Cleopatra s reaction as the queen herself you could see her calling, tempting the winds, her sails spreading and now, now about to let her sheets run free he wants to show that even this great fearless woman had to flee out of fear. • 8. Causes Of The Vietnam War An Unpopular War The Unpopular War The Vietnam War was the communist government of North Vietnam against South Vietnam at the beginning. However, this time the United States and the Soviet Union are in the cold war. The United States helps South Vietnam in order to oppose communism. Then the United States involvement escalated. This made the United States become the main battle country. The Vietnam War was one of the most unpopular wars in American history. The Vietnam War was an unpopular war because the spread of communism to south Vietnam had no direct threat against the US, and we fought the war for someone else using our men and money, also many civilians died. The Vietnam War was an unpopular war because the United States has fought a war that does not have a direct bearing on the United States, it has not only ended in failure but also has not benefited from it. The Vietnam War was originally a unified war. It was a civil war. It s like the American Civil War. The United States should not participate in this war, but the United States joined the war and is one of the main force. Some Americans believed that the Communist threat was used as a scapegoat to hide imperialistic intentions, while others thought this is an act of interference in the internal affairs of other countries, during the Vietnam War. That made the Vietnam War become one of the most unpopular wars in American history. The United States invested a great deal of money in the Vietnam War. The Department of Defense (DOD) reports that the United States spent about $168 billion (worth around $950 billion in 2011 dollars) in the entire war. At that rate, the United States spent approximately $168,000 for an enemy killed. (http://www.vn agentorange.org/edmaterials/cost_of_vn_war.html ) As can be seen from the data, the United States not only spent a lot of money but also has low efficiency. Inflation in the 1960s caused great troubles to the U.S. economy. Since 1965, many U.S. troops and equipment have continuously flowed into the Vietnam battlefield, causing more and more the burden of military spending in the United States. The Vietnam War intensified the trend of inflation. If the United States put these money into education or medical care, will have a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Tudor Succession Problems Essays Tudor Succession Problems The Tudor period is unique in that it is marked by succession difficulties in every generation. The Tudor dynasty was plagued by poor health, short lives and a shortage of male claimants to the throne. For three successive monarchs the throne passed not from ruler to child, but from sibling to sibling and three consecutive monarchs died childless. Henry VIII s search for a suitable male heir to his throne had far reaching ramifications. This period is distinctive in that it would start the precedent of determining the succession by statute in consultation with Parliament. The parliamentary enactments and wills that he had created complicated the succession issue for future generations in the attempt to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even if his Beaufort line could be considered for the throne, Henry s mother would be in line to succeed before him. It was in fact remarkable that Henry VII ever succeeded to the throne and England accepted him as king for Henry VII was a former attainted exile who did not have a strong hereditary claim to the throne. But it was his victory at Bosworth field that brought him the throne, not his descent; his weak hereditary claim gave his accession some semblance of legitimacy. Bosworth helped him consolidate his dynasty for it not only eliminated some of the other principle claimants to the English throne, it was regarded by contemporaries as an expression of divine will, as Henry would tell parliament the true judgement of God in granting him victory over his enemy in the field. In order to further consolidate his claim Henry married Elizabeth of York. He did so partially at the request of Parliament, partly because he could not afford the political price of going back on his pre Bosworth promise and most importantly to prevent anyone with ambitions for the throne from marrying Elizabeth, who had the stronger claim. However the succession was by no means secure in Henry VII s reign. When Henry VII s heir Prince Arthur died prematurely on April 2, 1502 Prince Henry was only ten, and if he were not to survive there remained only his sisters Margaret and Mary. • 13. Unpaved Roads In Ancient Rome The importance of the paved and unpaved roads leading out of the heart of Rome was crucial to the spread, advancement, and growth of the Empire from where the roads came from (Beers, World history: patterns of civilization, 1993, pp.115). These roads were built from about 300 BC through the expansion and consolidation of the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire (Forbes, Robert J. Studies in Ancient Technology. Leiden: Brill, 1993. Print). Roman roads were a part of the development of the Roman state. Roads were also a visible indicator of the might of Rome, and they helped unify what was a vast melting pot of cultures, races, and institutions. The Roman road system spanned more than 400,000 km of roads, including over 80,500 km of paved roads. Biography on Tupac Shakur Essay Biography on Tupac Shakur In much the same fashion that Kurt Cobain defined the alternative rock music scene, Tupac Shakur defined the hip hop scene as we know it today. Through this law the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is given the authority to oversee water suppliers throughout the US and set standards for the contaminants contained in water supplies. Prior to 1974, State health departments had the principal duty for monitoring and regulating public consuming water substances. The U.S. Public health provider supplied oversight till 1970. To avoid additional margins added onto the final price, the price was printed on the lid. Danone themselves just broke even with no profits. To address nutritional shortcomings in the typical diet of a child from a poor family especially vitamin A, iron and zinc the company wanted to enrich the yoghurt with these nutrients. The yoghurt also needed an extended long shelf life due to lack of electricity and fridges. Danone promoted their product, by associating the name Danimal . So as far as roid rage goes, if a person acts angry and full of rage while they are using steroids, there is a pretty good chance that they exhibited the same type of behavior before they put anything extra into their body. Underlying Philosophy Montessori education curriculum is based on the philosophy of continuous development, love, caring and uniqueness. In the Montessori classroom, every child is provided with unique opportunities to develop both moral and cognitive skills in areas that motivate students (Isaacs, 2015). For example, if a child loves construction, the teacher may provide construction materials such as small boxes, tapes and superglue that is necessary for assembling the boxes together. This makes learning both interactive and enjoyable. The role of significant adults such as teachers is to provide guidance on what the child should do to realize his/her goals (Isaacs, 2015). For example, if the child is defeated on how to assemble the boxes, the teacher should guide the child until the child has fully mastered the task. 2. Historical Perspectives The history of Montessori s curriculum dates back to 1906 when Maria Montessori founded the first Children s House by the name Casa dei Bambini in Rome, Italy (Isaacs, 2015). It was in this children s house that Maria developed a keen interest on how children develop their cognitive abilities and moral behavior. She realized that every child possesses unique skills and talents that should not be generalized in a single classroom (Ansari Winsler, 2014). In other words, Montessori ... The ALP has taken a back seat to accommodating new social movements as it seeks to take whatever measures necessary to achieving government. In response, the Greens have used social movements as a platform for the party s campaigning. The dynamics of election campaigning has evolved in Australia and has seen the major parties produce less emphasis on traditional ideology (Katz and Mair 2009:762) in their attempts to winning elections by targeting swing electorates. Therefore, the Greens have emerged as a party of principle in the face of blurring distinctions between the two major parties who seek to freeze out the minor parties and maintain their electoral dominance. Minor parties have fallen victim to elements of Cartelization in Australian politics which aims to prevent any challenges to the dominance of the two major parties. Furthermore, the Greens have garnered support through the belief that the Liberals as well as the ALP have become indifferent to the desires of ordinary citizens as policies become part of the state than they are policies of any particular party or coalition (Katz and Mair 2009:759). The Cartelization of Australian Politics justifies how divisions within the ALP have played a significant role in the origins of the Greens as voters seek to challenge the dominant two party ... Alcohol Consumption And Metabolic Syndrome Both alcohol consumption and metabolic syndrome are risk factors for development of fatty liver diseases with similar pathology which ultimately can result in development of liver cancer.3, 4, 24 273, 4, 23 26 Using a two stage mouse model in which tumor initiation by DEN was followed by a 35% high fat diet, we have previously reported increased tumor incidence, suggestive of a diet related promotional effect.11 Consistent with these findings, in the current study, we observed increased adenoma incidence and tumor multiplicity in the HF/CAS group relative to chow controls. More importantly, substituting SPI for casein in the diet produced a marked reduction in hepatic lipid accumulation, inflammation and cell proliferation, resulting in lower tumor incidence and multiplicity. SPI feeding prevented liver weight increase and hepatic steatosis in HF fed mice relative to mice fed casein (Figure 1). In rats, replacing casein with soy in various feeding regimes has also led to significant reductions in hepatic weight and steatosis .17, 28, 29 This was found to be associated with hepatic activation of PPAR signaling pathways and inhibition of SREBP signaling which might promote fatty acid utilization over fatty acid synthesis.17 Similar mechanisms may be operating in our mouse model, as SPI induces genes involved in fatty acid uptake, fatty acid degradation and oxidative phosphorylation. The employed model demonstrates protective effects of SPI in early tumorigenesis. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Behavior disorder is defined as Any of various forms of behavior that are considered inappropriate by members of the social group to which an individual belongs. (The American Heritage Stedman s Medical Dictionary, 2015) Due to its broad definition, methods of identification, diagnosis, and treatments are varied and controversial. After my son was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in November of 2012, I recognized a stigma within the community surrounding behavior disorders that made it difficult to find the appropriate support for my son and my family. Behavior disorders vary in symptoms and name, and can be divided into several classifications, including anxiety disorders, disruptive behavior disorders, emotional disorders, dissociative disorders, and pervasive developmental disorders. In addition to Sensory Processing Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Bipolar Disorder and Autism fall under the behavior umbrella. Like many other mental illnesses, direct causes of these disorders are hard to pinpoint. At its worst, sampling is vandalism and stealing . Half way between creativity and plagiarism, sampling is a controversial issue in the music industry and the infringement of copyright. In this assignment I m going to be discussing copyright and intellectual property rights in relation to the music industry. The Statute of Anne, was the first form of law that protected intellectual property, invented in the UK in 1709. The ultimate goal of intellectual property law is that human knowledge is increased and made accessible to everyone. Under the umbrella of intellectual property, there are four rights that protect creative works: performers rights, moral rights, trademarks and copyright. This rights need to exist in order to protect artistic integrity and give entitlement to the authors. Intellectual property covers different rights in the creative industries, especially, copyright is the frame that governs all the activities in the music industry. Moral rights are the basis of artistic integrity, as opposed to copyright that gives rights to receive economic reward for the use of a creative work. Moral rights include the right of paternity, which is the right to be identified as the author of the work. False attribution right gives right to not have a work falsely attributed to you. • 26. Theme Of Good And Evil In The Picture Of Dorian Gray What is the true meaning of good and evil. Good is that which is morally right and evil is profoundly immoral and malevolent. Good vs evil is a prominent theme used in literature. Two authors Oscar Wilde and Robert Louis Stevenson explore the theme of good vs evil in their novels The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. In the novel both main characters Dorian gray and Dr. Jekyll are overthrown by the evil. Also in both novels you can see how influences, interactions, and beauty ultimately take them down the wrong path. In The Picture of Dorian Gray the main character Dorian gray was first an innocent man and role model to artist Basil Howard who represented humanity. Overtime influences, interactions, and beauty got the best of him. In The Picture of Dorian Gray Basil says He has a simple and a beautiful nature. Your aunt was quite right in what she said of him. Don t spoil him. Don t try to influence him. Your influence would be bad this shows how even at the very beginning Basil knew how Lord Henry would influence him in a negative way. As we read on we can see how lord Henry teaches him to only care about beauty which causes Dorian to believe beauty is the only thing that matters in life. Lord Henry was the main cause of the corruption of Dorian s soul. In the novel another quote Lord Henry says is Oh, she is better than good she is beautiful, . This demonstrates how from the very get go he told Dorian that beauty is better than goodness. The poisonous book was another way Dorian was overtaken by the evil. In the novel it says It was a poisonous book. The heavy odor of incense seemed to cling about its pages and to trouble the brain. The mere cadence of the sentences, the subtle monotony of their music, so full as it was of complex refrains and movements elaborately repeated, produced in the mind of the lad, as he passed from chapter to chapter, a form of reverie, a malady of dreaming, that made him unconscious of the falling day and creeping shadows. This quote proves how the evil has already taken over him and now the book is taking over his soul. • 28. Teen Pregnancy And Birth Rates The increase of pregnancy that ranged from 30 percent to 50 percent between 1971 and 1979 was due to the large increase in premarital sexual activity for young white girls(Kohli, 1995). Studies found an increase in contraceptive use among sexually active teens from 50 percent to 70 percent users between 1971 through 1979 (Kohli, 1995). This increase in contraceptive use was not enough to outweigh the increase in premarital sexual activity. This only increased the rate of pregnancies in teenage girls. There has still been a decrease in actual teenage births as a result of an increasing amount of pregnancies being terminated from abortions (Kohli, 1995). According to Clemmit(2010), although there is still a lot of hype surrounding teen pregnancy and birth rates, teens have been less sexually activity, they have been using contraceptive, and getting fewer abortions more recently than they did in earlier decades. This shows that the current generation is using prevention techniques that were previously not being adopted by teens. To illustrate, teen births and pregnancies have been declining in the United States since the late 1950s. Although that might sound like the problem has subsided, the teen birth rates remain much higher in the U.S. than in many other industrialized societies, such as Canada and Western Europe. He begins his story in an alley behind the Southern Pacific Station anticipating the coming commuter frenzy at the station. He offers a unique perspective as a bystander that looks upon the city and the two conflicting cultures that divide it. He puts on display not just the everyday hustle and bustle of corporate America, but exposes the low down and dirty underbelly of the city. He uncovers a layer to the city that is deeper than its corporates exterior. One of poverty and hopelessness that swallows the city like a pothole yet ultimately lets light to a valuable idea of freedom and self expression. In his poem The RailRoad Earth , Kerouac presents the real San Francisco. He disregards the city s fancy and sophisticated corporate image that many believe it to be for the real and raw, poverty stricken city it is. In fact the corporate exterior is composed of commuters, who are not native to the city, while the soul of the city lies in the hands of the homeless and low income people of color who actually live there. These commuters are businessmen who come from the railroad earth , the outside lands connected to the city by the railroad.
