Assasination of Leon Trotsky
The Assassination of Leon Trotsky
During the power struggle in Russia, an escaped prisoner of the name Lev Bronstein, was
murdered on August 20th, 1940 by Ramon Mercader. Bronstein was a Russian marxist who went
against Stalin s beliefs. He was forced to leave the country by Stalin s wishes. However, before he
left he accomplished many things such as helping the Bolsheviks into power and creating the South
Russian Workers Union.
Lev Bronstein was born on November 8th, 1879 and grew up in a small town in Yanovka,
present day Ukraine. He was the 5th child of a well off Jewish farmer. When Bronstein was 9, he
was sent to finish his schooling in Nikolayev. As a teenager he was very interested in socialism and
helped create the South Russia Worker s Union. He was later arrested along with 200 other union
workers and was sent to jail for four years. While he was in prison, he married a woman named
Aleksandra Soklovskaya and together they had two daughters . He abandoned his wife and kids.
He then escaped prison, obtained a forged passport and changed his name to Leon Trotsky.
He then moved to London, England where he joined with Lenin and his group of Russian Social
Democrats. He began working on a revolutionary newspaper called Iskra. That same year, he met
a woman named Natalia Sedova. They married and had two sons together. Later, while Russia was
in the middle of a revolution, Trotsky escaped into the capital of Russia and became a
spokesperson for the city

Ever Since Movies Had Started Becoming Popular, Film...
Ever since movies had started becoming popular, film adaptations have failed to live up to their
book counterparts. Although there are exceptions, both critics and the general audience alike have
given film adaptations the cold shoulder. A Clockwork Orange is an exception. Originally
published as a novel by Anthony Burgess in 1962, A Clockwork Orangesets out to show the mind
and workings of an extremely violent teenager in a futuristic dystopian society. Director, producer,
and screenwriter, Stanley Kubrick s 1971 interpretation of the book has been critically acclaimed
as one of the best film adaptations to date. With its overly graphic depictions, effective use of music
and successful storytelling, A Clockwork Orangeis one of the best... Show more content on

Norman perfectly describes this film in a whole. While this film being overly graphic, its story and
actions within the film keep the audience wanting to see more, regardless of how shocking it is. As
the film progresses, it seems to just continue with its graphic depictions. For example, they trick a
woman and her husband into letting them into their home. Once inside, they tie a ball over mouths
to prevent screaming. Right after, Alex and his gang rip her clothes off, in which her husband
naturally reacts to try and prevent it. Alex acknowledges him and essentially humiliates the man
and the gang proceeds to rape her to death. This scene is graphically depicted to the core. It is
easy to see why Time Magazine ranked it in its, Top 10 Ridiculously Violent Movies. Time
Magazine described the movies as, the primal brutishness of man (Time Magazine). With its
effective portrayal of this scenes, we see the film become critically acclaimed as one of the best.
Not only does this follow the book almost identically, but it creates a vivid image of each graphic
scene for the audience. Its interpretation of the graphic scenes from the book to film has made it a
great film, which many film adaptations fail to do. The novel relies heavily on the symbolism
music has to Alex; fortunately we see this come to life in the film. Throughout the film we hear
classical music, specifically louder when an ultra violent

The Sale Of Foreign Arms
POSITION PAPER
ON
THE SALE OF FOREIGN ARMS
1. This paper will argue that, in its current state, the sale of foreign arms does not support United
States (US) foreign policy. The sale of US arms exacerbates conflict in the Middle East and
contributes to human rights abuses.1 The Obama administration implemented a Conventional Arms
Transfer Policy in 2014 to control arms sales and prevent human rights abuses while providing the
weapons countries need to defend themselves in order to prevent the need for US boots on the
ground.2 However, these measures are not enough and US weapons can and do still end up in the
hands of terrorists.1
2. The Obama administration has approved more major arms deals by almost $30 billion in its
initial five ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Countries in the area have hoarded, are using, and are asking for more American arms. These
events have unleashed the possibility of a dangerous new arms race in areas of turmoil and
changing alliances.3 Some of the arms the United States sold to the region are being used in
conflicts. Saudi Arabia uses Boeing F 15 fighters to strike Yemen and the United Arab Emiratesis
flying Lockheed Martin F 16 s to bomb Yemen and Syria.3 Saudi Arabia in particular has
committed human rights abuses in its air war in Yemen. Amnesty International has called on the US
to cease selling bombs, fighter jets, and combat helicopters to Saudi Arabia. According to the
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the conflict between Saudi Arabia and anti
government rebels has killed thousands of civilians, and two thirds of those lives were claimed by
Saudi air strikes.4
4. The United States has not ignored the role foreign arms sales play in human rights violations. In
2014, President Obama issued a directive called Conventional Arms Transfer Policy. It clearly
expresses that the United States should not sell military arms to countries that are unstable enough
that they might turn the weapons against the US or its allies. The policy calls for officials to
examine the risk that the recipient of the arms would use them to commit human rights violations
or that the arms

The U.S. Free-Enterprise Economy Essay
The United States is known for having a free enterprise economy where a business can be
conducted freely without government involved. In free enterprise economies, goods and services
are traded openly and are produced depending on the demand. People who support this type of
economy believe it motivates businesses to make money and welcome new ideas. An important
part of the economy is to have full employment and low inflation. Keynesianism and monetarism
are both ways to stabilize the economy and promote growth when need. In keynesianism,
government uses fiscal policy which is a list of policies that government spending and taxing can be
used to improve the performance of an economy. The government produces stabilization by taxing

This policy is results in faster results to speed up the economy for the short term. Fiscal Policy is
later used to develop a plan of yearly actions and is a long term way to stabilize the economy. The
next idea to stabilize the economy is a theory called monetarism which is the belief that if
government did not interfere with the market economy that employment would be high and
inflation low. Followers believe the government is the reason of downturns such as the recent
recession. Both of these policies, keynesianism and monetarism are important and supported by the
citizens. These ideas of how economy should be conducted both want to ensure a stable economy
for the people. That s where comparisons end and differences began. Monetarists want absolute
freedom in the economy from government interference. They insist that Keynesianism causes the
downturns because government it so worried about stabilizing the economy and doesn t let it fully
growth. Keynestists believe government should help aid the economy and can track it s progress.
Therefore a more structured policy is in place to provide aid in keeping stability from outside
interferences. Without the government watching, numerous problem can arise such are large
businesses taking over the small businesses which can lead to businesses closing and loss of jobs
and no one wants to start a business with that as a possibility. Balancing the national budget is one

Measurement of Problems
It has been observed that during peak hours, each train is over filled by 3 4 times its seating
capacity. And during peak hours on roads, there are frequent long traffic slowdowns or halts. These
busy times are measured as follows: for local trains the percent full per train and for roads the
minimum speed of traffic. This measurement system can be mapped to measure the effect of
solving transportation problem on the overall quality of life of Mumbaikars. By maximizing the
suggested measurement specifications, a train can be filled up to 1.4 1.6 times its seating capacity
and on roads, there should not be a complete traffic halt (apart from exceptional circumstances) and
traffic movement should maintain a minimum of 25 35 km/h. A solution fails if it does not meet
these specifications a minimum of 95 percent of the time. For calculating impact on quality of life
in Mumbai, it is assumed that transportation problems contribute 15 percent to the overall
reduction. If the solution system works within specifications, it improves a person s quality of life
by 15 percent. If the solution fails to

Classroom Climate Of The Graph Show Hostility Or Distress...
The last two grids of the graph show hostility or distress regarding the caste identities. The second
last grid represents that around 11 percent (frequently and sometimes) students felt insulted or
threatened because of your (their) caste . This reflects that caste identities of student are prominent
on the campus. The last grid of the graph presents the most sensitive aspect of the campus climate.
Around 39 (frequently and sometimes) respondents shared that they had tense, somewhat hostile,
uncomfortable interactions . The number is staggeringly high and it also indicates a greater
concern about environment on SPPU campus. On the basis of these numbers, it is evident that caste
issues are a significant concern of the campus climate and it can be interpreted that the lower caste
students are at the receiving end.
Discussion: The analysis is centered around students perception and experience about various
difference and inclusion issues on SPPU campus. However, campus climate of an institution
includes much more than students perception and experience in an environment. In the paper, few
important themes have been explored to represent an overview of SPPU campus climate. Findings
of the analysis indicate that student to student connection on and out of the campus is weak.
Around more than two third participants are dissatisfied with transportation, recreational facilities,
and food availability on the campus. One respondent shared that transportation and food is a

Prenatal Testing Research Paper
Prenatal Testing and the Disability Community The dream of every expectant mother is to give
birth to a healthy baby when the nine months elapse. However, the culture of uncertainty among
eager mothers has engulfed their thoughts of the possibility of giving birth to children with
disabilities. As a result, they have turned to clinics for prenatal screening with a hope of getting a
clean bill of health from medical practitioners about their current situation. All these efforts are not
in vain in their minds as long as they are assured their babies will not have Down s syndrome or
any other birth defect. These frantic efforts pertain image of a society that dread disability. With the

necessary and whether it is discriminatory as claimed. Based on the benefits, success, statistical
data, I will defend the perspective of physically challenged individuals by highlighting numerous
success records of families with children affected from Down s syndrome as it is widely
common. According to Synder and Gauthier (2008), ethics can be defined as a moral principle that
dictates human behavior and classifying it as either good or bad based on the end result and the
motive behind the cause of action. There is a more compelling need to find out what motivated the
emergence of prenatal screening. Also, to find out how it has achieved its objectives. To begin with,
there is a need to understand activities surrounding prenatal

Zheng He s voyages have been a constant source of controversy in the historical world because
of the differing opinions on whether they should be celebrated or not. In July of 1405, Zheng He
was given the task to lead a fleet of ships for exploration. This task was assigned to him by Emperor
Yongle of Chinas Ming Dynasty. Over the next twenty eight years, the Chinese Admiral, Zheng He
went on seven separate voyages through the Indian and Pacific Oceans with one of the largest
fleet of wooden ships in history. He navigated his massive fleet from Nanjing along the Chinese
coast and through these oceans to explore new lands and bring prosperity to China. The Chinese

One goal of Zheng He s voyages was to establish trade relationships with new lands for China.
Trade was incredibly important during this time period and was one of the main causes of
worldwide exploration. However, Zheng He mistreated the native people he was meant to trade
with, and being harsh and using force leads to resentment and thus a lack of cooperation and aid
from these people. Emperor Yongle hadn t given Zheng He specified instructions to claim the
land as China s and to force the submission of the foreigners. The Changle Inscription, a carving
made into a stone pillar in Changle, China, described Zheng He s six voyages and the plans for
his seventh voyage since it was inscribed before he left. The Changle Inscription states that From
the edge of the sky to the ends of the earth there are none who have not become subjects and
slaves [...] barbarian kings who resisted... we captured alive and barbarian bandits who invaded
and plundered we wiped out (Document E). Zheng He s voyages resulted in the enslavement of
the foreign people as he forced most of these people under China s rule as subjects or slaves. Some
of the people who showed signs of resistance, whether it be a king fighting for his land or bandits

The Importance Of Whaling
Aboriginal peoples have been whaling as a tradition for thousands of years with it being a
significant part of their culture. They have depended on whales for food, clothing and other
handicrafts. Whaling was key to survival and the Natives have honored the sacrifice of each whale
through spiritual rituals and ceremonies. It gives them a purpose and discipline which benefits their
whole community. This has not been a problem for many centuries, only recently have animal
activists been trying to stop the hunting of whales. The Makahpeople have been the main subjects to
the opposition of whalingon the basis that it is unnecessary for their culture or their survival. This
has been an ongoing issue since 1999, when they harvested their first whale in 70 years. The
violent backlash received has prevented them from gaining permission to hunt after that which led
to the illegal killing of a whale in 2007. To present day, the Makah has gotten many undeserved
death threats and bomb threats to schools. Many complaints have been made that the hunting
method differs from how it was done traditionally so the hunting cannot be considered as one of
their cultural practices. By denying the Makah cultural rights, this controversy could lead to
cultural genocide. The Makah people should be allowed to harvest a total of 24 whales in 6 year
period with two hunting seasons of 3 weeks each because it is the main factor in preserving their
culture, it will not cause the gray whalepopulation to

Informative Essay On The Movie Bully
Description of Documentary: When children are pushed to commit foolish activities or suicide
because of bullies, one can tell there is something wrong with the way situations are being handled
in our society. The documentary, Bully, presents countless examples of the effects of bullying and
how poorly circumstances are managed. Through instances resulting in juvenile detention or taking
one s own life, the documentary displays various ways kids deal with torment. As we follow the
lives of five different youths suffering at the hands of their peers, we see just how much these kids
go through with little to no support.
The first family we meet has recently lost their son, Tyler, to suicideat the age of 17. Tyler s dad
recounts the way Tyler transformed from being a bubbly child to a loner. Tyler s dad discusses
how he knew that Tyler was getting shoved into lockers and being told to hang himself, and that he
understands why Tyler took his own life. Tyler s mom then shows us Tyler s old room where he
committed suicide, how his younger brother, Troy, found him, and how they changed the room into
an office to work on their anti bullying stuff. Tyler s parents are both extremely understanding and
want to celebrate Tyler s life by helping others experiencing mistreatment. Unfortunately, the school
would not take any responsibility for what happened, dismissing all accusation, and left all bullying

African American And American Writing
African American writing is the collection of writing created in the United States by journalists of
African heritage. It starts with the works of such late 18th century essayists as Phillis Wheatley.
Prior to the high purpose of slave stories, African American writing was commanded via self
portraying profound accounts. African American writing came to ahead of schedule high focuses
with slave accounts of the nineteenth century. The Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s was a period
of blooming writing and human expressions. Scholars of African American writing have been
perceived by the most astounding honors, including the Nobel Prize to Toni Morrison. Among the
topics and issues investigated in this writing are the part of African Americans inside the bigger
American culture, African American society, bigotry, bondage, and social balance. African
American composing has had a tendency to join oral structures, for example, spirituals, sermons,

Chevy Pickup Evolution Of Chevy
Chevy Pickup Evolution Have you ever wondered how the pickup industry got started and what
the first kind of trucks were like? There has been many different generations of pickups. Chevy
has made a big impact on the truck industry and what they are now, in this day and age . But, the
most important ones were the old generations of pickups. The first generation of chevy pickups
were made between 1918 1928. The first one that was made in 1918 was called the Chevy 490.
From the factory they didn t come with anything on the back of it, so all it came with was an
engine and a cab, different companies made the boxes for them that you had to buy separately.

These engines had a lot more horsepower and torque than the previous engines and made the
trucks able to pull a heavier load. The new engines made up to 56 horsepower in this generation
and 146 foot pounds of torque and where 194 cubic inches(Bunn, Chevrolet Trucks). Chevy still
didn t have beds on their trucks until 1930 then they started to put a bed on the trucks and made
the cab a little bit bigger and more comfortable (Williams, 95 Years of Chevy Pickup History).
Chevy also put a better, easier to shift, 3 speed synchromesh transmission. This was a great
improvement because you could drive smoother, it was easier to drive the truck and you could
pull a heavier load. The synchromesh style transmissions are still used in all of the manual
transmissions on the road today. In 1936 they put full length water jackets on all of their
engines. The full length water jackets made the engines run cooler and prevent them from
overheating. This also let them make the engine bigger and were moved from 194 to 207 cubic
inches. The next style of pickups were produced from 1937 1946. This is when they started to
become the more modern type of trucks. Although today they would be considered old and very
simple back then they were top of the line and very modern . The reasons that they were called
the modern style is because they made a bunch of improvements to the trucks. They had redesigned
the whole cab and made it bigger and more comfortable to drive for longer

Shakespearean play, Romeo and Juliet. Even the love of the two teenagers is kept a secret from
their respective families! However, some of these secrets contribute to the tearful deaths of Juliet
and Romeo. Sometimes, secrets should be told. Capulet and Montague secrets influence the play

forbidden love gives Romeo the opportunity to love her without consequences, at least for a

Relationship Between Emotional Intelligence And...
Introduction
In a study by Mandell and Pherwani (2003), the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI)
and transformational leadership style was examined in order to determine whether EI scores could
be used to predict transformational leadership style. In addition, gender differences in the
relationship between EI and transformational leadership were examined to determine if there is a
significant interaction of gender and emotional intelligence. This research is important, because
transformational leadership has been found to be the most effective style of leadership. Therefore,
if EI can predict transformational leadership style, it would be useful for organizations to use EI
measures in their selection battery for managerial positions and in development of current
managers. In the study, transformational leadership was defined as a leadership style that
encourages subordinates to look at their work from different viewpoints, motivates employees to
promote the organization s mission, and develops employee abilities. Emotional intelligence was
defined as an ability that involves self monitoring of one s own feelings and emotions, as well as,
monitoring the emotions of others in order to guide one s behaviors and make decisions.
Consistent with the previous research, Mandell and Pherwani (2003) found that EI scores do
significantly predict transformational leadership style. However, they found no significant
relationship between gender and EI while predicting

The Case Of Jeanette M. And The Phone Call
The Case of Jeanette M. and the Phone Call Medical error is the third leading cause of death in
the US, right behind heart disease and cancer. More than 200,000 people die annually as a result of
diagnostic mistakes and negligence by healthcare professionals (Washingtonpost, 2016). In the
healthcare industry, even the smallest mistakes and oversight could lead to severe consequences
for both the patient and professionals. A healthcare professional would be held liable for any
discrepancies that causes harm. The following case will analyze the ethical issue and negligence
that lead to the death of an elderly woman. In the book Medical Law and Ethics, by Bonnie F.

There are several ways that Jeanette s doctor and receptionist could have helped Jeanette. The
receptionist should have relayed Jeanette s message to the doctor as soon as possible. Shortness of
breath is a serious medical problem. It is one of the symptoms of Heart failure as well as
Pneumonia (Mayoclinic, 2016). If the doctor had received the message right away, the doctor
would perhaps advise Jeanette to come to her office or to call 911 immediately. The receptionist
should have advised Jeanette to call 911 if her symptoms got serious while she waited for doctor s
callback. Jeanette endured her symptom the whole day waiting for the phone call from her doctor
that never reached her in time. This would be a civil case against Jeanette s physician. Civil cases
generally deal with wrongful acts and are able to sue a business or a person for monetary value

Alcohol And Substance Abuse And The National Minimum...
Since alcohol and substance abuse have come into play, along with health issues, and emotional
issues in peoples lives, questions started to arise. One being the legal age to start drinking
alcohol. The national minimum drinking age act was signed on July 17th, 1984 to the law, with
the drinking age at minimum being 21 (Archer M.D.). An adult is any person who s reached the
age of maturity as directed by law (Archer M.D.). Legally, being 18 years old in the U.S. is
considered to be the adult age, but the consumption of alcohol has always been withheld from the
young adults of today, until the age of 21. When you re 18 year old, you can apply for a credit
card, legally marry whoever you may want without parental consent, divorce, rent,... Show more

At the same time, moderate drinking helps lower levels of cholesterol and prevents colds, unless
the drinker smokes tobacco, meaning moderate drinking with care can be seen as not harmful
when done by responsible adults (Pringle). Even though 18 is the adult age in the U.S. 18 19 is
still technically the teenager age and teens are said to be at a more extreme risk than adults
would be to die in a car crash, partially because of alcohol s stronger effects on lighter people
(Pringle). Should 18 be the legal age for alcohol consumption? Although denying young adults to
alcohol may seem unfair, 21 should be the legal age for alcohol consumption in the U.S. rather than
18, because of the overall improved death and health rates shown as the outcome.
Currently in the U.S. the legal drinking age is at 21, an age that many people believe is fair. In the
U.S. more than 25k lives have been saved because of the 21 minimum legal drinking age
(Madd). Although health facts and opinions all have their own facts, the statistics don t lie.
Even with 18 20 year olds legally being accepted as adults, this age group is still more likely to
illegally drink because they re so close to the legal age. But those who start drinking before the
age of 21 are more likely to be involved in violent behaviors, attempt suicide, have unprotected
sex, develop alcoholic problems, and more (Pringle). On top of this, drinking at a young age
greatly increases the risk of developing alcohol

Imagery of Snakes in Macbeth Essay
In the biblical book of Genesis, Eve is tempted by a serpent to commit an ungodly act of eating a
forbidden fruit. As a result of the snake s temptation, Eve eats the fruit, resulting in the presence of
worldwide sin and the downfall of perfection. From this story of Adam and Eve, the figure of the
snakehas become generally associated with temptation, evil, and cynicism. William Shakespeare
employs this symbolic imagery of snakes in Macbeth, to enhance the story of the rise and fall of
Macbeth s power. For poetic and playwright purposes, Shakespeare uses serpentine imagery to
reveal the malevolence of characters, and portray the threatening position of the throne, all while
provoking a heightened emotion of fear and tragedy from the... Show more content on

This struggle of loyalty vs. ambition correlates with Eve s biting of the fruit, which
instantaneously fills her with sin. Eve s ambition was to obtain knowledge of the world, yet in
order to achieve it, she was forced to go against her God. In Macbeth, Lady Macbeth s incentive
is power, which in this case would be a seat on the throne. In both cases, evil is a required side
effect to gain their desired qualities. And this evil desire approaches both characters in the form of
a serpent.
Following Lady Macbeth s unsexing , the most descriptive use of serpentine imagery is revealed.
Lady Macbeth persuades Macbeth to kill Duncan. By doing so, she uses a metaphor of a snake to
portray the Macbeth s future evil actions.
To beguile the time,
Look like the time; bear welcome in your eye,
Your hand, your tongue: look like th innocent
flower,
But be the serpent under t. (1.5.64 67).
This simile is very similar to the clichГ© snake in the grass, which implies a stealthily treacherous
and surprise action. In this passage, Lady Macbeth explains that in order to succeed, they must act
normal around their guests, and conceal their evil desires. The snake thus represents Macbeth s
hidden ambition, and more literally, Lady Macbeth s plan of action.
However, the serpent, to which Lady Macbeth metaphorically speaks of in act one scene five, is
not only these evil desires of Macbeth. It also represents the threat that Macbeth possesses to
Duncan.

The Role Of Individualism In Ancient Greece
The rich imagination of the Greeks gave color, verve and texture to every facet of nature and
aspect of the world that they perceived. Their deep, open minded, philosophically rich and at the
same time sensuous and lively outlook on existence are noticeable. It is this that has given their
culture it s lasting quality. The growth of Greek life and art are a marvel of individualism, and at
the same time the ability to look at a problem from all angles. Thus we see that the Greeks were
able to see all aspects of the issues that they faced and alternate between modes like lyrical,
romantic, and tragic. Greek tragedyis one of its great achievements. Their sense of destiny fate and

This is a measure of their strength, shorn of all stage play and fog, they still shine in their human

on yourself and show yourself unshorn, thus says the lover of truth or VERITAS in all things.
The love of beauty, of nature and of humanity, whole and pure in a higher sense, above all
philosophical and tolerant, shows from all their creations. Greek culture was amazingly holistic
and absorptive, perhaps a legacy of the wayfaring Phoenicians, of hardy seamen and explorers.
The Greeks faced nature in all its capriciousness, they did not hide or turn away but manfully,
embraced nature and it s conundrums all the same. They looked the stormy seas, inside and
outside, full in the face and did not shrink from life. Embrasure of life with open arms is the very
symbol of the Greeks. A cosmopolitan, tolerant, irreverent, heroic, individualistic, human, frail,
weak, many sided, truthful, naturalistic, humanistic phenomenon, which challenged the might of
the Persian tyrant again and again to do its worst but would not yield it s freedom of hard birth

The Cocktail Waitress, James Spradley And Brenda Mann Essay
Historically, anthropologists have focused their research on foreign cultures, often considered
exotic to westerners. Yet, globalization has created a continuously shrinking world and is
increasingly providing sovereignty for developing nations, which may impede research
opportunities for modern anthropologists. In their book, The CocktailWaitress, James Spradley and
Brenda Mann explained how this semi recent issue threatens trust and acceptance in these foreign
communities and obstructs unique opportunities and research funding. Luckily, there are countless
subcultures in America s back yard, in which most are eternally evolving, providing a multitude of
research opportunities for anthropologists. Alcohol establishments are home to a plethora of
subcultures that display clashing and harmonious interactions enjoyable for even the untrained
human observers. Noticeably, bars contain the local regulars, occasional boozers, business men,
college students, and multiple others, all there for a common goal, leisure. Whether the responsible
sober driver, moderate drinker, or completely inebriated, every patron has exchanged workday
courtesies for uninhibited behaviors. Additionally, lounges often exhibit social interactions between
men and women which provide ethnographers opportunity to study the cultural roles considered
masculine or feminine within our society and subcultures. Formerly, women employed in alcohol

First, Pruss asserts that abortion is wrong because killing a fetus is human. According to his article,

correct. And, of course, it equally applies to all human life.
In addition to his thought that killing a fetus is wrong and a crime, Pruss confirms that killing a

The Challenges Of The Construction Industry

Some of the challenges the construction industry faces are the lack of skills and needing to ensure
that there are available resources. The skills shortage in construction ranges from a shortage of
bricklayers to a shortage of quantity surveyor.
This shortage isn t just in the numbers available but also a shortage of those are skilled in their
field, meaning that most of the workers lack experiences. This will reduce the speed in which the
industry grows which then may affect the contribution that the industry has on the UK economy.
The resources available to the industry are depleting, which means that alternative methods of

The report will include the different regulations that intermediate floors must meet, when compared
to an intermediate floor in a non domestic setting.
REVIEW
MARKET SECTOR AND APPLICATION
Sound transmission would be a driver for the need to use acoustic insulation on intermediate floors.
There are two types of sound, two sources. Airborne sound and Impact sound. Airborne sound is
vibrations generated from a source, like speech and loudspeakers, which is then transmitted through
the air. These vibrations cannot go through a floor. However, they do cause vibrations within them,
which cause the air on the other side of the floor to vibrate. It is these vibrations that cause the
sound. The way to reduce these vibrations is to increase the mass of the floor. Therefore, concrete
has a better sound resistance than timber.
Whereas impact sounds are sounds that are caused by something coming into contact with the floor.
Such as footsteps. The vibrations caused by impact sound can also cause some airborne sounds in
objects attached to or resting on the floor.
Sound can transmit through a floor in two way, directly or indirectly. Direct transmission is when
the floor transmits the sound from one side to another. Indirect transmission is when the sound uses
other elements attached to the floor. Concrete is generally good at limiting both direct and indirect
noise.
Therefore,

Essay on The Linux
The Linux was originally founded by Linus Torvalds. In 1991, he was a second year computer
science student in Finland. He sought after an operating system that was similar to the UNIX
system, but both UNIX and the hardware it ran on were excessively expensive. A UNIX version
called Minix was available for free, but it did not reasonably meet his needs as it was simply an
operating system for students, designed primarily as a teaching tool rather than an industry strength
operating system. As a result, Torvalds studied Minix and proceeded to set out to write a new
version. After six months of working to produce the new operating system, Torvalds made very
little progress toward the utility of the system.

In many systems architecture, the kernel is the lowest level of software that interfaces with the
hardware in a computer. In UNIX, users typically have no direct access to it. It is responsible for
interfacing all applications that run in user mode including the physical hardware and allowing
processes to get information from each other.
Linux kernel developers designed kernel modules that could be loaded and unloaded at runtime.
Kernel modules are essential to keeping the kernel functioning with all of the computer s hardware
without consuming all of the available memory. A module generally adds functions based on the
users needs to the base kernel for things like file systems and devices. A kernel is essential for any
computer system to run and operate properly. The Linux kernelis different than OS X and
Windows because it includes drivers at the kernel level, and most other operating systems do not.
(Salzman, 2005.)
The Linux operating system has been developed by many intelligent people. Around two percent of
the Linux kernel was actually written by Torvalds himself. Today, the Linux kernel has received
contributions from thousands of developers across the globe. Torvalds remains the definitive
authority on what new codes are incorporated into the Linux kernel. However, Linux distribution
modifies the kernel according to each of their users

The Pros And Cons Of Search Engine Optimization
SEM or Search Engine Optimization is closely related to SEO (Search Engine Optimization). In
fact, a lot of SEM jobs will often expect you to know a bit about SEO. Because you can t do SEM
without additional skills. For instance, knowing how to work PPC advertising (i.e., Pay Per Click
advertising) is almost essential for those looking to work in SEM jobs.
To explain why SEO, SEM and PPC advertising is often interrelated in job descriptions, consider
this:
In definition, SEO optimizes websites and web pages via content that contains selective
keywords. Whereas, SEM uses advertising and promotion methods to place certain web pages
and websites in the first page of search engine results. So the purpose is more or less the same for
both. The only difference is the method. Plus, SEM usually uses paid advertising methods too
(which is not that necessary for SEO). So paid advertising methods like PPC advertising is
something the SEM professionals should know about too.

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Antidepressants Essay
Introduction
Antidepressants are used when the symptoms of a sufferer of anxiety or depression are
persistent and severe. Anxiety is the general term used to describe an array of disorders that
cause intense fear, apprehension, and distress (Cassiday, 2016). A depressive disorder is a
disorder that causes persistent sadness and loss of hope and interest in life (Malhi et al., 2015). As
antidepressants tend to have side effects whereas many other treatments do not, a sufferer of
anxiety will commonly be initially treated with cognitive behavioural therapy or other forms of
talking therapy, meditation, exercise, and healthy eating if these treatments are not effective a
patient will be considered to be prescribed medication (Cassiday, 2016). However patients that are
prescribed antidepressants additionally are typically treated with other therapies, as the combination
of different remedies is almost always far more effective than only one (Sethi, 2012).
Every medical practitioner has varying methods of prescribing medications for anxiety and
depression, however they are often similar. Initially the medical practitioner will analyse the
severity and specific symptoms of the illness to determine what general family of antidepressant to
prescribe as the severity and specific symptoms are the most important factors in determining
antidepressant prescription. Secondly, personal factors of the patient will be analysed as a person s
genetics has a great impact on prescription. Next

What s That Smell In The Kitchen Analysis
Anyone can make a large difference by the smallest act. Many authors find ways to use their
writing to help make a large difference in the world. Marge Piercy does this in her poem What s
That Smell in the Kitchen? This poem was used to help boost the feminist movement for equality.
Her poem engulfs the idea that one small act can help to make a large difference in the feminist
movement, and she does this using several poetic techniques. Piercy s poem was written in 1982,
when many women were still homemakers, or they not only worked but did all the household
chores. This was not equality, women should not be forced to cook and clean because their
husband does not want to. She should not have to fake a smile when feeding her familybecause that
is what society thinks is correct. Piercy claims: All over America women are burning/ food they re
supposed to bring with calico/ smile[s] on platters glittering like wax (ll. 6 8). Piercy s diction is
very angry and she notes this with her use of the word calico to help express... Show more content

Imagine being so angry that: if [you] want to grill anything, it s/ [your] husband spitted over a
slow fire (ll. 13 14). The image alone is enough to prove the anger the speaker has towards
society and her husband; just the mere idea of picturing someone you chose to live your life
with spinning over a fire, burning to a crisp. This may be a bit extreme, but instead of cooking
her husband, the speaker could instead burn dinner. The one small act that women could make
to defy society s expectation of themselves in Piercy s eye seems to be: Burning dinner (l. 22).
Hardly anyone likes to eat burnt food, but if that food is being burnt because the speaker is
unhappy with her life, she is using it as a silent weapon to prove that she can make her husband s
life just as miserable as her

Shakespeare s Sonnet 18
In Sonnet 18, Shakespeare shows his audience that his love will be preserved through his eternal
lines of poetry by comparing his love and poetry with a summer s day. Shakespeare then uses
personification to emphasize these comparisons and make his theme clearer to his audience.
Shakespeare also uses repetition of single words and ideas throughout the sonnet in order to stress
the theme that his love and poetryare eternal, unlike other aspects of the natural world. Using the
devices of metaphor, personification, repetition, and progression of tone, Shakespeare reveals his
theme that the natural world is imperfect and transitory while his love is made eternal through his
lines of poetry.
Shakespeare uses metaphors to show one object ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, the word time itself is repeated three times, while the idea of time is used
repetitively throughout the sonnet. For example, with the lines rough winds do shake the
darling buds of May, Shakespeare suggests that just as the summer progresses and the winds
shakes the buds of May, life progresses as youth fades and aging occurs. The key word in this
quote is bud because the bud signifies youth, and by these buds being shaken, the idea of youth
departing is shown. Shakespeare further stresses the idea of time, in his lines and summer s lease
hath all too short a date, Shakespeare uses the idea that life is too short in order to emphasize the
fact that, unlike other things in life, his love will never end because his words will never be
forgotten. Again, Shakespeare speaks of the progression of time when he mentions the summer sun
s gold complexion often being dimmed. Shakespeare uses this idea of dimming and death in order
to show his audience once again that his love and his eternal lines of poetry will never be dimmed
as the summer sun is.
Shakespeare also changes the tone as the sonnet progresses. The sonnet begins with a very pleasant
tone, continues to change to become more depressing, and then progresses to become pleasant once
again. The pleasant

Inevitable Fate In Oedipus The King
Inevitable Fate
Oedipus The King by Sophocles is a story of great tragedy. Oedipus lived in Corinth with his
adoptive father. He hears of a prophecy that threatened his family and decides to leave Corinth to
defy his fate. Oedipus biological parents also heard the same Prophecy and sent Oedipus to be killed
when he was just a baby. The Servant responsible for the task could not kill Oedipus, so he left
him in the mountains to be found. Oedipus then unknowingly found his way into the kingdom of
Thebes where his biological parents ruled. Oedipus became king after saving Thebes from a sphinx
by completing its riddle.
He is called upon again when the kingdom is hit by a plague and is ravished by hunger. While
trying to save his kingdom it is discovered that Oedipus prophecy had come true. He had
unknowingly killed his father and laid with his mother Jocasta the Queen of Thebes. The news of
the prophecy being fulfilled sends Oedipus and Jocasta into a feverish hysteria. Jocasta runs to
her room and hangs herself after the news. Oedipus, looking for Jocasta finds her dead body and
is in such shock that he takes his own eyes. Oedipus then saves his kingdom by being banished and
lifting the curse off Thebes.
Oedipus The King is full of instances that would portray both the free will and fate of Oedipus. All
the choices he makes throughout the play are his own, but the prophecy he aims to avoid still
becomes his reality. While reading the play, the illusion that Oedipus was

The Racial Justice Social Movement
The Racial Justice Social Movement
Introduction
Civil Rights Movements recollections are responsible for shaping how people behave in society as
well as the numerous protests on human rights that are seen in present day. What was evidenced
back in the 1950s and 60s was focused on breaking racial barriers which were centered around
degrading, confining and marginalizing the minority population of the United States. The case is
relatively different in present day, what is conceptualized is a case of people supporting the
movement driven by different purposes. With the history of what transpired throughout time is
what shapes our daily politics. Social movements of the 19th and 20th Century are responsible for
shaping progressive thought. The movements were driven by the need for racial
disenfranchisement with legal requirements of segregation were constitutionally inconsistent with
a focus on its eradication. What was conceptualized back in the early 20th Century is a case
scenario where the women suffrage, environmental protection to dismantlement of Jim Crow laws.
These were considered as relatively utopian ideas but that is not the case in present day where
they are considered as being common sense. Radical issues for yester years have been considered
into mainstream policy formulation of present day. During the 20th Century, the whole process
reads as some of the most progress accomplishments until present day. The whole process of social
justice was conceptualized

Competitive Intensity And Government Regulations
Firm s international experience, that is, the number of years a firm has been operating in the
international markets plays a vital role to determine the pricing process followed by the firm
(Katsikeas and Morgan, 1994). They found out that for less experienced firms, pricing issue
creates less problem, whereas more experienced firms perceive pricingto be a difficult issue,
although both type of firms consider pricing very important for making exportdecision.
Cavusgil and Zou (1994) considered two aspects of industry characteristics competitive intensity
and government regulations. The result of their study perceives a positive relation between
technology orientation of the industry and export price competitiveness. A market is characterized
by the competition among local and international suppliers, the threat of new entrants and the
bargaining power of customers (Obadia, 2013). The author concludes that for certain aspects of
exporting, specifically, volume discount, credit term, and special circumstances for new product
launch, exporter manipulate export prices to cope with competitive intensity and favor the
importers, although they do not manipulate the price with fluctuating exchange rates. Other studies
established the relation between technology and standardization. The higher the frequency of
technological changes associated with an industry, the more likely the firms to use standardized
products (Samiee and Roth, 1992). This is in line of the argument that in

Essay on Nature in Context vs. Nature out of Context
Nature in Context vs. Nature out of Context Nature has long been the focus of many an author s
work, whether it is expressed through poetry, short stories, or any other type of literary creation.
Authors have been given an endless supply of pictures and descriptions because of nature s
infinite splendor that can be vividly reproduced through words. It is because of this fact that often
a reader is faced with two different approaches to the way nature is portrayed. Some authors tend
to look at nature from a more extensive perspective as in William Wordsworth s I wandered Lonely
as a Cloud. While some authors tend to focus more on individual aspects of nature and are able to
captivate the reader with their intimate portrayals of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But the second line in this poem, sometimes whoever seeks abroad may find, was particularly
interesting to me for I relate to its feelings of optimism and accord. In a way it also seems that
the second stanza is heavy with sleepiness, with the exception of the last four lines, as displayed
in the above quote with words like the winnowing wind , Drows d , and sound asleep . The four
last lines of the second stanza, as I mentioned earlier, describes Autumn in pure action, Steady thy
laden head across a brook; /Or by a cider press, with patient look, by bringing out the true active
lifestyle of what nature truly is. Again, through his imagination Keats is able to embark upon what
he is really seeing. The purpose of the poem becomes clear in the final stanza, and in the warmth of
the second line, Where are the songs of spring? Ay, where are they? /Think not of them, Thou hast
thy music too, where Keats sheds light on the idea that that everything has a purpose. It would
appear that Autumn, the season which robs us of the warmth of summer, where the leaves come
tumbling from the trees, the season that prepares the world for a dark and cold winter ahead, has its
purpose too. What would spring be without death, light without dark, but indeed it appears that
Keats is thinking of life without death. In this poem, Keats is able to focus in on the beauty and
splendid ness of autumn in order to demonstrate that everything will change according

Hellenistic Art
The Silk Road had established a long and interesting history with trade, that enabled many different
cultures to have connections. These connections have had an influence on clothing, architecture,
music, art and sculptures. After the conquest of Gandhara by Alexander the Great, the classical
world of Roman art influenced these region s taste with a new look for art and sculptures.
Alexander s expansion into northwest Pakistan changed the approach in creating Bodhisattva
sculptures, taking on the influence of the Hellenistic features. Furthermore, with the connections
between the Roman Empireand the Kushans being exploited commercially and artistically,
benefiting both establishments. The classical traditions of Roman dramatically changed... Show

Gandhara s sculptures range in many different shapes and size. These consist of Bodhisattva
torsos, heads, and even rock reliefs. In the earlier Kushan period, the head sculptures had traces
of an adorned look and feel to it but was still pretty simplified. They displayed the sculpture
relatively flat on the front and the back of the head with open eyes and the fleshy lips. A
suggestion of braiding around the forehead gives the sense of the Bodhisattva wearing a turban,
and of course the heavy spiral earrings. All these features appeared around the first century. The
knowledge of Stanislaw J. Czuma stated, the sharp , angular details of the upper portion of this
head relate it to sculptural developments in the late second century, the lower half of the face with
its pliant surfaces and ample curves of the lips (83). This is showing the changes in details and form
that the Bodhisattva sculptures are beginning to show as time goes into the next century. Then in
330 B.C., Alexander the Great conquered northwest Pakistan with his indo Greek kings who
succeeded him, and brought in the classical traditions to this region. The Bodhisattva sculptures can

Causes Of Bolshevism
During the early 1900s, African American rights were a topic of national discussion with no
definitive solution in sight. In the wake of one of the most violent race riots in American history,
one man sought to overlook racial differences and formalized rules to provide aid to those in need.
Through the leadership of Maurice Willows during the 1921 TulsaRace Riot, the American Red
Cross compromised their mission to allow the organization to be the sole responder, provider of
relief, and champion of African Americanrights.
Following the end of the first world war in 1918, African Americans anxiously and optimistically
hoped that their patriotic sacrifices during the war would have a positive impact on race relations
and expand the boundaries of civil rights. However, fears of labor unrest, Bolshevism stemming
from the Russian Revolution of 1917, and the return of black soldiers spawned a nationwide surge
in violence, much of it directed at African Americans. Due to this, race riots began erupting across
the country and Tulsa, Oklahoma was no exception.
With the discovery of oil nearby, Tulsa had become one of the largest cities associated with the oil
boom by 1915. The prospect of oil attracted large numbers of both whites and blacks looking for
work and by 1921, Tulsa s African American population had grown to almost 11,000. Still enduring
segregation, the predominant African American community in Tulsa was known as Greenwood;
also commonly known as little Africa or

Cal And Aron In John Steinbeck s East Of Eden
In the book East of Eden by John Steinbeck, Caleb and Aron are the twin sons of Adam and Cathy
Trask. Adam s relationship with Cal and Aron closely resembles that of the biblical Cain and Abel

Adam is a distant one from the beginning, neither making an effort to fully understand the other

Women In Colonial Georgia
Women were very important to the colony in georgia ever since it was established. The women
had to fulfill their role as traditional women. The task of men and women were complementary;
there work required both labor and stability. Throughout the colonial period women came to
georgia and settled with families and religious groups, or sometimes by themselves seeking a new
start. They came to georgia as wives, mother, daughters, or sometimes alone as servants or slaves.
The women were either English, Salzburger, German, Scots, Irish, Sephardic Jews, and African,
after 1750, when slavery became popular. White women were hardworking people and the trustees
admired that. But in a colony that was also intended to protect the exposed southern... Show more

Early doubt about the female colonists began to fade. The Founding Trustee, James Oglethorpe
eventually came to appreciate the value of women, even in the southern soldiers town closest to
the Spanish border. James encouraged the Trust to send hardworking wives with recruits because
a single man was very great at causing trouble. Efforts increased to give passage to wives, sisters,
and daughters. Family formed the basic structural element of society, and so marriage was highly
encouraged. The variation of men and women made women valuable and marriageable. The men
were the head of the family who used the legal rights of a household. A married womanwas a feme
covert, whose legal existence, was suspended during the marriage, or at least incorporated and
consolidated into that of the husband, according to the British Law. A feme covert did have
dower rights, which gave her claim to property in case of a husband s death, she had to renounce
this claim of dower to any land of the husband before he could sell it. A woman s role was to be a
loving Wife, an affectionate Mother, and a true housekeeper. Divorce was not allowed, but some
women escaped from marriage by running away, and there were few ways for them to support
themselves. Most marriages, ended because of the death, and in Georgia that could mean short
marriages and equally brief window

  • 2. Assasination of Leon Trotsky The Assassination of Leon Trotsky During the power struggle in Russia, an escaped prisoner of the name Lev Bronstein, was murdered on August 20th, 1940 by Ramon Mercader. Bronstein was a Russian marxist who went against Stalin s beliefs. He was forced to leave the country by Stalin s wishes. Lev Bronstein was born on November 8th, 1879 and grew up in a small town in Yanovka, present day Ukraine. He was the 5th child of a well off Jewish farmer. When Bronstein was 9, he was sent to finish his schooling in Nikolayev. As a teenager he was very interested in socialism and helped create the South Russia Worker s Union. He was later arrested along with 200 other union workers and was sent to jail for four years. While he was in prison, he married a woman named Aleksandra Soklovskaya and together they had two daughters . He abandoned his wife and kids. He then escaped prison, obtained a forged passport and changed his name to Leon Trotsky. He then moved to London, England where he joined with Lenin and his group of Russian Social Democrats. • 3. Ever Since Movies Had Started Becoming Popular, Film... Ever since movies had started becoming popular, film adaptations have failed to live up to their book counterparts. Although there are exceptions, both critics and the general audience alike have given film adaptations the cold shoulder. A Clockwork Orange is an exception. Originally published as a novel by Anthony Burgess in 1962, A Clockwork Orangesets out to show the mind and workings of an extremely violent teenager in a futuristic dystopian society. Director, producer, and screenwriter, Stanley Kubrick s 1971 interpretation of the book has been critically acclaimed as one of the best film adaptations to date. With its overly graphic depictions, effective use of music and successful storytelling, A Clockwork Orangeis one of the best... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Norman perfectly describes this film in a whole. While this film being overly graphic, its story and actions within the film keep the audience wanting to see more, regardless of how shocking it is. As the film progresses, it seems to just continue with its graphic depictions. For example, they trick a woman and her husband into letting them into their home. Once inside, they tie a ball over mouths to prevent screaming. Right after, Alex and his gang rip her clothes off, in which her husband naturally reacts to try and prevent it. Alex acknowledges him and essentially humiliates the man and the gang proceeds to rape her to death. This scene is graphically depicted to the core. It is easy to see why Time Magazine ranked it in its, Top 10 Ridiculously Violent Movies. Time Magazine described the movies as, the primal brutishness of man (Time Magazine). With its effective portrayal of this scenes, we see the film become critically acclaimed as one of the best. Not only does this follow the book almost identically, but it creates a vivid image of each graphic scene for the audience. Its interpretation of the graphic scenes from the book to film has made it a great film, which many film adaptations fail to do. The novel relies heavily on the symbolism music has to Alex; fortunately we see this come to life in the film. Throughout the film we hear classical music, specifically louder when an ultra violent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Sale Of Foreign Arms POSITION PAPER ON THE SALE OF FOREIGN ARMS 1. This paper will argue that, in its current state, the sale of foreign arms does not support United States (US) foreign policy. The sale of US arms exacerbates conflict in the Middle East and contributes to human rights abuses.1 The Obama administration implemented a Conventional Arms Transfer Policy in 2014 to control arms sales and prevent human rights abuses while providing the weapons countries need to defend themselves in order to prevent the need for US boots on the ground.2 However, these measures are not enough and US weapons can and do still end up in the hands of terrorists.1 2. Countries in the area have hoarded, are using, and are asking for more American arms. These events have unleashed the possibility of a dangerous new arms race in areas of turmoil and changing alliances.3 Some of the arms the United States sold to the region are being used in conflicts. Saudi Arabia uses Boeing F 15 fighters to strike Yemen and the United Arab Emiratesis flying Lockheed Martin F 16 s to bomb Yemen and Syria.3 Saudi Arabia in particular has committed human rights abuses in its air war in Yemen. Amnesty International has called on the US to cease selling bombs, fighter jets, and combat helicopters to Saudi Arabia. According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the conflict between Saudi Arabia and anti government rebels has killed thousands of civilians, and two thirds of those lives were claimed by Saudi air strikes.4 4. The United States has not ignored the role foreign arms sales play in human rights violations. In 2014, President Obama issued a directive called Conventional Arms Transfer Policy. It clearly expresses that the United States should not sell military arms to countries that are unstable enough that they might turn the weapons against the US or its allies. The policy calls for officials to examine the risk that the recipient of the arms would use them to commit human rights violations or that the arms ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In free enterprise economies, goods and services are traded openly and are produced depending on the demand. People who support this type of economy believe it motivates businesses to make money and welcome new ideas. An important part of the economy is to have full employment and low inflation. Keynesianism and monetarism are both ways to stabilize the economy and promote growth when need. Fiscal Policy is later used to develop a plan of yearly actions and is a long term way to stabilize the economy. They have depended on whales for food, clothing and other handicrafts. Whaling was key to survival and the Natives have honored the sacrifice of each whale through spiritual rituals and ceremonies. It gives them a purpose and discipline which benefits their whole community. This has not been a problem for many centuries, only recently have animal activists been trying to stop the hunting of whales. The Makahpeople have been the main subjects to the opposition of whalingon the basis that it is unnecessary for their culture or their survival. This has been an ongoing issue since 1999, when they harvested their first whale in 70 years. The violent backlash received has prevented them from gaining permission to hunt after that which led to the illegal killing of a whale in 2007. To present day, the Makah has gotten many undeserved death threats and bomb threats to schools. Many complaints have been made that the hunting method differs from how it was done traditionally so the hunting cannot be considered as one of their cultural practices. By denying the Makah cultural rights, this controversy could lead to cultural genocide. The Makah people should be allowed to harvest a total of 24 whales in 6 year period with two hunting seasons of 3 weeks each because it is the main factor in preserving their culture, it will not cause the gray whalepopulation to ... Informative Essay On The Movie Bully Description of Documentary: When children are pushed to commit foolish activities or suicide because of bullies, one can tell there is something wrong with the way situations are being handled in our society. The documentary, Bully, presents countless examples of the effects of bullying and how poorly circumstances are managed. Through instances resulting in juvenile detention or taking one s own life, the documentary displays various ways kids deal with torment. As we follow the lives of five different youths suffering at the hands of their peers, we see just how much these kids go through with little to no support. The first family we meet has recently lost their son, Tyler, to suicideat the age of 17. Tyler s dad recounts the way Tyler transformed from being a bubbly child to a loner. Tyler s dad discusses how he knew that Tyler was getting shoved into lockers and being told to hang himself, and that he understands why Tyler took his own life. Tyler s mom then shows us Tyler s old room where he committed suicide, how his younger brother, Troy, found him, and how they changed the room into an office to work on their anti bullying stuff. Tyler s parents are both extremely understanding and want to celebrate Tyler s life by helping others experiencing mistreatment. Unfortunately, the school would not take any responsibility for what happened, dismissing all accusation, and left all bullying unpunished. Chevy still didn t have beds on their trucks until 1930 then they started to put a bed on the trucks and made the cab a little bit bigger and more comfortable (Williams, 95 Years of Chevy Pickup History). Chevy also put a better, easier to shift, 3 speed synchromesh transmission. The synchromesh style transmissions are still used in all of the manual transmissions on the road today. In 1936 they put full length water jackets on all of their engines. The full length water jackets made the engines run cooler and prevent them from overheating. This also let them make the engine bigger and were moved from 194 to 207 cubic inches. The next style of pickups were produced from 1937 1946. This is when they started to become the more modern type of trucks. Introduction In a study by Mandell and Pherwani (2003), the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and transformational leadership style was examined in order to determine whether EI scores could be used to predict transformational leadership style. In addition, gender differences in the relationship between EI and transformational leadership were examined to determine if there is a significant interaction of gender and emotional intelligence. This research is important, because transformational leadership has been found to be the most effective style of leadership. Therefore, if EI can predict transformational leadership style, it would be useful for organizations to use EI measures in their selection battery for managerial positions and in development of current managers. In the study, transformational leadership was defined as a leadership style that encourages subordinates to look at their work from different viewpoints, motivates employees to promote the organization s mission, and develops employee abilities. Emotional intelligence was defined as an ability that involves self monitoring of one s own feelings and emotions, as well as, monitoring the emotions of others in order to guide one s behaviors and make decisions. Since alcohol and substance abuse have come into play, along with health issues, and emotional issues in peoples lives, questions started to arise. One being the legal age to start drinking alcohol. The national minimum drinking age act was signed on July 17th, 1984 to the law, with the drinking age at minimum being 21 (Archer M.D.). An adult is any person who s reached the age of maturity as directed by law (Archer M.D.). Legally, being 18 years old in the U.S. is considered to be the adult age, but the consumption of alcohol has always been withheld from the young adults of today, until the age of 21. At the same time, moderate drinking helps lower levels of cholesterol and prevents colds, unless the drinker smokes tobacco, meaning moderate drinking with care can be seen as not harmful when done by responsible adults (Pringle). Even though 18 is the adult age in the U.S. 18 19 is still technically the teenager age and teens are said to be at a more extreme risk than adults would be to die in a car crash, partially because of alcohol s stronger effects on lighter people (Pringle). Should 18 be the legal age for alcohol consumption? Although denying young adults to alcohol may seem unfair, 21 should be the legal age for alcohol consumption in the U.S. rather than 18, because of the overall improved death and health rates shown as the outcome. Currently in the U.S. the legal drinking age is at 21, an age that many people believe is fair. In the U.S. more than 25k lives have been saved because of the 21 minimum legal drinking age (Madd). Although health facts and opinions all have their own facts, the statistics don t lie. Even with 18 20 year olds legally being accepted as adults, this age group is still more likely to illegally drink because they re so close to the legal age. But those who start drinking before the age of 21 are more likely to be involved in violent behaviors, attempt suicide, have unprotected sex, develop alcoholic problems, and more (Pringle). Eve s ambition was to obtain knowledge of the world, yet in order to achieve it, she was forced to go against her God. In Macbeth, Lady Macbeth s incentive is power, which in this case would be a seat on the throne. In both cases, evil is a required side effect to gain their desired qualities. And this evil desire approaches both characters in the form of a serpent. Following Lady Macbeth s unsexing , the most descriptive use of serpentine imagery is revealed. Lady Macbeth persuades Macbeth to kill Duncan. By doing so, she uses a metaphor of a snake to portray the Macbeth s future evil actions. To beguile the time, Look like the time; bear welcome in your eye, Your hand, your tongue: look like th innocent flower, But be the serpent under t. (1.5.64 67). This simile is very similar to the clichГ© snake in the grass, which implies a stealthily treacherous and surprise action. In this passage, Lady Macbeth explains that in order to succeed, they must act normal around their guests, and conceal their evil desires. The snake thus represents Macbeth s hidden ambition, and more literally, Lady Macbeth s plan of action. However, the serpent, to which Lady Macbeth metaphorically speaks of in act one scene five, is not only these evil desires of Macbeth. It also represents the threat that Macbeth possesses to Duncan. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These vibrations cannot go through a floor. However, they do cause vibrations within them, which cause the air on the other side of the floor to vibrate. It is these vibrations that cause the sound. • 40. Symptoms And Symptoms Of Antidepressants Essay Introduction Antidepressants are used when the symptoms of a sufferer of anxiety or depression are persistent and severe. Anxiety is the general term used to describe an array of disorders that cause intense fear, apprehension, and distress (Cassiday, 2016). A depressive disorder is a disorder that causes persistent sadness and loss of hope and interest in life (Malhi et al., 2015). As antidepressants tend to have side effects whereas many other treatments do not, a sufferer of anxiety will commonly be initially treated with cognitive behavioural therapy or other forms of talking therapy, meditation, exercise, and healthy eating if these treatments are not effective a patient will be considered to be prescribed medication (Cassiday, 2016). However patients that are prescribed antidepressants additionally are typically treated with other therapies, as the combination of different remedies is almost always far more effective than only one (Sethi, 2012). Every medical practitioner has varying methods of prescribing medications for anxiety and depression, however they are often similar. Initially the medical practitioner will analyse the severity and specific symptoms of the illness to determine what general family of antidepressant to prescribe as the severity and specific symptoms are the most important factors in determining antidepressant prescription. Marge Piercy does this in her poem What s That Smell in the Kitchen? This poem was used to help boost the feminist movement for equality. Her poem engulfs the idea that one small act can help to make a large difference in the feminist movement, and she does this using several poetic techniques. Piercy s poem was written in 1982, when many women were still homemakers, or they not only worked but did all the household chores. This was not equality, women should not be forced to cook and clean because their husband does not want to. She should not have to fake a smile when feeding her familybecause that is what society thinks is correct. The one small act that women could make to defy society s expectation of themselves in Piercy s eye seems to be: Burning dinner (l. 22). The key word in this quote is bud because the bud signifies youth, and by these buds being shaken, the idea of youth departing is shown. Shakespeare further stresses the idea of time, in his lines and summer s lease hath all too short a date, Shakespeare uses the idea that life is too short in order to emphasize the fact that, unlike other things in life, his love will never end because his words will never be forgotten. Again, Shakespeare speaks of the progression of time when he mentions the summer sun s gold complexion often being dimmed. Shakespeare uses this idea of dimming and death in order to show his audience once again that his love and his eternal lines of poetry will never be dimmed as the summer sun is.
