Wolf Gang
Wolf Gang; The Sheep in wolves clothing
What is the line between being civilized and tamed, against acting wild and savage? What separates
human intellect against animalistic nature? Humans have animalistic instincts, yet we fear it often
choosing to hide it calling it taboo or deeming it inappropriate to a civilized society. Famed
Psychologist Sigmund Freud once stated, The pleasure of satisfying a savage instinct, undomesticated
by the ego, is incomparably much more intense than the one of satisfying a tamed instinct (Freud, ?)
What Freud is saying is that satisfying a tamed instinct is artificial, compared to satisfying something
that is engrained in our animal nature. Animal Nature connects itself to the short story The Company
of Wolves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story is interesting by raising questions about what the savage instincts represents to a community
that is in the edge of civilization, in a location where nature and society clash. The story in short
represents Sigmund Freud s clash of human nature and the animal state (Id), the cultured state (ego)
and the self state (superego) and the representation of humanity in a state where there is no discernible
difference between humans and beasts. In the end the humans have the potential to be as savage as the
wolves in the right circumstances.
The circumstances that created this nature of humans as wolves are influenced partly by the location
in which the story takes place, the forest. Like the Original Red Riding Hood story the woods are as
ominous and threatening to the young female protagonist. Unlike Red Riding Hood though, the story
by Angela Carter is much more specific on the wolves and what they represent as symbols of human
barbarity. In the story, it is stated that, It is winter and cold weather. In this region of mountain and
forest, there is now nothing for the wolves to eat. (Carter,1085). The wolves or savagery is created
through condition, the influence of the location makes human harder both physically and mentally,

Rhetorical Hyperbole
1. Yes. In order to prove that a statement was protected by an absolute privilege the defendant must
prove that the statement was a matter of public concern, made during the course of a legislature or
judicial proceeding, and that the statement was relevant, material, and important to the public concern
at hand. City council meetings fall under the category of these protected proceedings. Statements on
issues at hand made by public officials during these protected occasions are protected. Mr. Smith is a
city council member, who made statements about an issue of public concern at a city council meeting.
Those statements will be protected by absolute privilege. It is irrelevant whether or not the statements
are true or made with malice. The statements that Mr. Smith made after the meeting will also be
protected because they were the same statements that had been broadcasted on local television in the
recording of the meeting. Mr. Smith was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On The Restoration Period
The period from 1660 to 1700 is known as the Restoration period. It was a period when King Charles
II of England marked the beginning of a new era both in social life and the literature of England upon
his return from exile. He revived a theatrical genre known as Comedies of Manners which was lewd
and hilarious. The Way of the world depicts real picture of the restoration period connected to amoral
and exploitative manners of the people. Therefore, this essay will be analyzed based on how the play
acts as a social mirror of the restoration period in England during Congreve s time. First of all, the
play is a dramatic representation of varieties of love that prevailed in England during the restoration
period. Marriage was just a mere game of love. There were betrayals on marriage without love yet the
fake relation continued for various reasons. Mirabell, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

need Lady Wishfort s approval for their marriage or else Millamant would lose half of her inheritance
which is under Lady Wishfort s control. Mr. Fainall also marries Mrs. Fainall for the sake of money he
could acquire from her. According to Siwach (n.d), the fact that Mr. Fainall married for money can be
hardly held against him in his society, but to marry for money to finance for love affair is more
difficult to accept. Thus, it is comprehensible that love without money is an impossible dream,
although money corrupts what love is. Nonetheless, the fact of acquiring money dealt a business over
fake marriage and mostly an agreement of a secure future and also in providing good reputation to

History Of Teacher Observation And Evaluation
History of Teacher Observation and Evaluation
Initially, education was not recognized as a professional discipline or field of study. Teachers were
considered community servants instead of professional educators. Local government officials and
members of the clergy were responsible for hiring teachers and making judgments about their teaching
abilities. It was believed that clergymen were the best choices for this role due to their extensive levels
of education and their alleged ability to guide religious instruction in schools (Tracy, 1995). Individual
supervisors or supervisory committees were responsible for overseeing the quality of instruction.
These supervisors had nearly unlimited power to establish criteria for effective instruction and to hire
and fire teachers (Burke Krey, 2005). Since there was no consensus on the importance or
qualifications of educational expertise, the type and quality of feedback that teachers received varied
significantly.
In the early1800s, more complex school systems began to emerge once the industrial movement
emerged. As the schools and districts grew, this created a demand for teachers who had expertise in
specific disciplines. Not long thereafter, it became apparent that clergy members did not have the
proper training for the role, nor did they have the necessary knowledge to make informed judgments
about teacher effectiveness. Rather than simply understanding the mores of the community, the
supervisor now needed to have subject

The Jean Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center
Introduction
The Jean Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center was built in 1998 in Noumea, New Caledonia in honor of the
New Caledonian Kanak independence leader, who was assassinated in 1989. The Kanak people are
native to the pacific region and account for 41% of the island s populations. (Piano Building
Workshop)
The Center was built as an undertaking by the French Government during the negotiations of
independence from France. The territory of New Caledonia wanted a Kanak Cultural Centre that
would be dedicated to the future development of the culture as inspired by Jean Marie Tjibaou.
(Architectura) In 1990 as part of France s president at the time, Francois Mitterrand s grand travaux or
grand works , an international invitation only tender was established for the project. The scope of the
brief was broad: the design must honor traditional Kanak culture; while at the same time provide a
focal point for the development of the society. (Fondazione). The aim was to ensure that despite
modern developments the Kanak culture would not lose touch with its historical roots.( Fondazione).
In 1991 an international competition was held and Italian architect, Renzo Piano won. A spectacular
location was found on the Tina peninsula against a background of mountains and promontories jutting
out into Magenta Bay, with the capital city of Noumea to the east and open sea to the west.

Essay on A Comparison of Christian and Islamic...
A Comparison of Christian and Islamic Architecture in Spain
By the 6th century a Germanic tribe called the Visigoths, converts to Arian Christianity, had
established themselves as the aristocratic elite. The Christians built many monumental basilica plan
churches. The Santa Maria de Quintanilla de las Vinas, Burgos, Spain and San Juan de Banos de
Cerrato are two such churches that still remain today. In the beginning of the 8th century Islamic
Muslims conquered Spain and ended Visigothic rule. They constructed militaristic and religious
architecture including castles, watchtowers, rock castes, the Great Mosque, and the Red Palace. The
remaining Christians adopted some of the Islamic styles and soon built upon a new style that ended up

The Moors also built atalayas, or watchtowers and rock castles that served as part of the defense
system for the castle. The watchtowers were used as communication devices for castles that were great
distances apart. The watchtowers would signal the castle in case of an enemy attack by using smoke
and mirrors. They built rock castles, or small defense castles high on rocks, using the natural terrain to
the maximum effect. Since the rock castles were small they did not house many soldiers.
Another important Islamic site is situated in Cordoba, southern Spain, along the banks of Guadalquivir
river (the Great River). Cordoba served as the capital of the Caliphate of Cordoba. Cordoba houses the
famous Great Mosque or Gran Mezquita, the largest mosque in the Western World. The interior of the
mosque consisted of a mirhab, a niche that separates the qibla wall from the others. The mirhab was
intentionally positioned facing Mecca for the faithful who prayed in that direction.
The mosque can be identified by its elaborate squinch supported domes. The Great Mosque of
Cordoba is one of the finest surviving examples of Umayyad architecture in Spain. The mosque has
marble capitals and columns in the hypostyle prayer hall. A person enters the hall through an open
courtyard called a sahn. Its famous horseshoe arches have an alternated pattern of pale stone and red
brick voussoirs

Historiography During The Cold War
What is Historiography? The study and analysis of historical writings, the method of analyzing a
historical period based on the perspectives of historians to the event.
What is critical analysis in history writing? To critically analyze an event one must read about all
aspects of a historical event in order to fully understand that historical era. This is done by examining
several primary source documents, as well as the perspectives of several historians. This way we are
able to break down a historical time and fully understand its success and failures.
For example: Reconstruction is the most controversial point in U.S. history in regards to its successes
as well as its effect on the course of the country. Historians of the 1900 s like ... Show more content on

Advantages Of E-Learning
Abstract
E learning has become a part of our world for quite some time now. From learning how to operate a
mobile, how to cook, career skills, everything is being learnt online. It has gained a lot of popularity
among the younger generation over the past decade. Nowadays, you don t need to go to a college to
get a degree or learn something. All you need is an internet connection to access lectures of your
favourite subject online. And not only subjects it can be a skill like coding or a career oriented
program like digital marketing. The broader perspective of eLearning varies from distance education,
learning online, computerized electronic learning, blended learning, etc which makes it more
appealing to the public. Though there has been a tremendous growth in this field still many people are
very reluctant towards it thus we need to implement new technologies to cater more and more people
towards it. This paper gives a perspective on new technologies that can be blended with e learning to
cater the needs of more and more people by making teaching effective as well as efficient. Also it
compares these various technologies on various aspects like course embedment and scopes in various
e learning fields. This paper also raises the issues that can be solved using these technologies and how
it would be beneficial for the e learners.

Variance Analysis

Variance Analysis Variance Analysis is used to promote management action in the earliest stages. It is
the process of examining in detail each variance between actual and budgeted costs to conclude the
reasons as to why the budgeted amount was not met (Ventureline, 2012). There are several factors that
go into a variance report. One is the assumption of the department. The second is the risk of the
assumption. And thirdly the actual expense used to portray the budget. The vice president announces
the budget that needs to be met monthly. Upon receiving the monthly budget results, the materials
budget was not used properly, and the salary was higher than the planned budget. I will be explaining
the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another factor that needs to be considered in the variance report would be the salary that is paid
towards the employees. Given that the employees get paid a certain amount each pay period, it makes
it easy for the manager to assume how much of the given budget needs to be used to pay them. But
there are some risks that come along with the assumptions such as: annual reviews, and hiring more
employees to help the department. The manager will either exceed the budget amount for the month or
go under the budget depending on the situation. When preparing a variance report to the vice
president, the manager would have to incorporate the reasons as to why the budget is either under or
over the budget for the month. If the manager has several employees that reach their annual reviews
for that month, they also review an annual incentive as well. Depending on the company the increase
could be between 2% all the way up to 10% raise for the current employees. The manager would have
to include the reasons as to why the variance amount was high on that month. And if the manager
needs a new hire for the department, they would have to get approval from the vice president in order
to see if it is in the budget, once they have approved, the manager is able to hire a new employee, and
make sure that the new hire gets paid according to what the budget allows them to pay

To what extent does environment play an important role in...
To what extent does environment play an important role in character s behaviour towards others?
Books: Great Expectations, Charles Dickens, 1861 Lord of the Flies, William Golding, 1954
Environment is a vital factor in determining the behaviour of characters; the books both agree and
contradict with each other though. William Golding is of the view that humans share an innate evil: he
strips boys of the order of society; he places them in a primitive environment; and in the subsequent
story, their conduction descends from that of being civilised into that of evil chaos. He employs
Simon, a boy of rare quality, to illustrate this by having him realise that the beast is not real, it exists
only inside us . Charles Dickens writes about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, as time goes on and civilisation seems further away, as hope and want of being rescued
fades, their system degenerates. The ever present violence succeeds peace: originally it starts of as
being a game, Ralph returned as a fighter plane, with wings swept back, and machine gunned Piggy ;
when they eventually hunt their first pig, Jack boasts, You should have seen the blood! ; the boys kill
Simon in a frenzied ritual dance, even Jack and Piggy are not innocent as they too were present though
they try to forget it; Piggy is killed; then Ralph is hunted like an animal, by the savages of Jack s
dictatorship, he only survives because he runs into the British Navy on the beach. In Great
Expectations, Pip is an innocent boy to start off with. The reader sympathises him, from the outset he
is identified as an orphan and Mrs. Joe, his sister who many adults keep spitefully reminding Pip
brought [him] up by hand , abuses him. She is always shouting at him and punishes him with things
such as the Tickler. Pip is also berated at the Christmas dinner: Mrs. Hubble asked, Why is it that the
young are never grateful? This moral mystery seemed too much for the company until Mr. Hubble
tersely solved it by saying, Naterally wicious.

Oodgeroo Noonuccal Essay
Oodgeroo Noonuccal an Australian aboriginal poet and fighter of Aboriginal rights
In my essay I will present an Australian poet from the 20th century who after having discovered her
aboriginal roots had even changed her name and became an activist for the Aboriginal rights.
Oodgeroo Noonuccal was born as Kathleen Jean Mary Ruska on 3 November 1920 on North
Stradbroke Island in South East Queensland. Kath was a descendant of the Noonuccal people of
Minjerribah. Her totem was Kabool the carpet snake, who could not be eaten by his people. She talks
about this in her poem Ballad of the Totems. The young Kath was strongly influenced by her parents.
Her mother, Lucy McCulloch was one of the stolen generation . At the mission school she was not
taught to read or write, of which she bitterly resented, because the nuns taught her to be useful to wash
clothes, cook, clean and iron in order to work as a domestic servant in a white household. She ... Show

Her first collection was published in 1964 as We are going. Her poetry had an easily understandable
style and had strong political protest elements in it already from the beginning. Her second poetry
collection, The Dawn is at Hand , was published by Jacaranda in 1966. A third collection, My People:
A Kath Walker Collection, contained poems from the first two collections, and in later editions added
new poems and essays.
During the 1960 s not only her reputation as a poet developed but she also became increasingly
engaged in the political sphere.
Although loyal to these organisations, Walker was not convinced they could provide answers to
Australia s deep seated racism towards Aborigines. Her quest for fundamental political solutions to
Indigenous disadvantage soon propelled her into the orbit of the Communist Party of Australia and the
Union of Australian Women, both of which she joined in these

Sitcom Humor Analysis
3.3. Manner The maxim of manner is flouted when the speaker uses ambiguous language or does not
talk properly and understandably (Hu 2012: 1188). Sitcom humour makes use of lexical and
referential ambiguity to flout this maxim for humour (Wu n.d.: 66/67). In the episode, the characters
flout this maxim by using words that others do not know or by using words and phrases which are
lexically ambiguous. When characters use words that others do not know, it either ridicules the
speaker (because they are unable to communicate with others) or the listener (because they have a lack
of knowledge). The humour in lexically ambiguous phrases derives from the phrase s interpretation
either by the characters or the audience. The most obvious way the maxim of manner is flouted is
when a character does not understand a word another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

remarks on the two meanings of little: Penny: What was Leonard like when he was little? Beverly: I
think you mean young. He s always been little. This may also be observed when she and Sheldon talk
to each other and the audience does not know what their conversation is about: Sheldon: So, what do

A Brief Note On Diabetes Prevalence Rate And Socioeconomic...
Diabetes is a major health problem in the United States. There is an increasing interest in the
relationship between diabetes and sociodemographic and lifestyle factors but the extent of the
geographical variability of diabetes with respect to these variables still remains unclear. The regression
models commonly used for disease modeling either use Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression by
assuming all the explanatory variables have the same effect over geographical locations or
Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) that assumes the effect of all the explanatory variables

Diabetes is associated with obesity, physical inactivity, race and other socioeconomic covariates (Hipp
Chalise, 2015). There is a steady increase in type 2 diabetes prevalence especially in adolescents and
African Americans (Arslanian, 2000; Arslanian, Bacha, Saad, Gungor, 2005; Harris, 2001).
Studies of the correlates of diabetes ignore the spatial non stationarity by either fitting OLS method or
using all the variables as nonstationary by fitting GWR model. A number of studies (Chen, Wu, Yang,

study the association between diabetes and other covariates.

The Growing Concerns On Privacy
The growing concerns on privacy are rapidly changing. Though a new worry in the online world, these
troubles with privacy violations have existed far before the Internet was even invented. It used to be
abnormal to hand out personal information, like an address or birthdate; however, now these are the
blanks that users fill out on almost every social media site they join. The information that is gladly
given away, used to be protected for fear of identity theft. So what has dramatically changed in order
to change these morals? Some believe that the invention of the Internet has caused people to believe
that they are safe behind the screen. They place false hope and trust in social media, so the question is
where these accusations are originating from. Have these privacy disgruntlements been thrown away
over the hopes of achieving some sort of online popularity persona? Or is the generation stuck inside a
online labyrinth that entices sharing rather than secrets? [AP] Privacy has become a very skewed
concept in the eyes of the Facebook community. Individuals take what they would normally consider
private information, and display within the profile outline for Facebook. What is considered sensitive
information and private personal stories, people share and repost to their walls. Facebook uses what
the federal law considers so private [that it can t] be just in job interviews; such as age, sex, birthplace,
religion. (Grimmelmann, The Privacy Virus) So why is this

Child Labor During The Second Industrial Revolution
During the Second Industrial Revolution many people were getting jobs because of the growing
industrialization. By the mid 1800 s child labor started to be a major issue. Child labor became a
bigger issue once machines in factories replaced hand labor. Starting in Britain and spreading
throughout Europe and North American many new business and factories started to open. When the
factories started to open they needed more workers for cheap labor. During the Industrial Revolution
child labor increased because of the need for cheap labor, the new inventions and technologies, and
the lack of workers. During the Second American Revolution there was a major increase in the use of
child labor. One of the main reasons child labor increased was because of cheap labor. On a typical
day the children were forced to work from sunrise to sunset. They worked eleven to twelve hours per
day, six days a week. Throughout the day they would get less than one hour for a break. On average
they earned about a dollar every week. Some of the children that were employed were as young as five

Understanding The Current Epistemological Understanding
1. Describe your current epistemological understanding. Comment on the following issues: a. Does a
real world exist? In what form? Yes, a real world does exist. It is independent of the mind as the world
we live in is tangible, visible, and created with a purpose. As a Christian, I know the world exist
because God created it and recorded the creation story in Genesis. Additionally, God created
knowledge and wisdom including, general revelation. General revelation holds people accountable for
knowing the Maker of the Universe. The world exists in two forms an earthly form and a spiritual
form. The earthly form is the universe we live in and the spiritual form is Heaven. Although, we may

Moreover, when it comes to implementing Biblical principles into my classroom, I can be confident
that what I am teaching is accurate, true, and unchanging. The Bible is absolute truth and the basis for
righteous living. The implications for teaching my students, based off of the information I give them
or they discover, will include the history behind the information they are learning. For example, when
teaching mathematical formulas or principles, I can inform my students about the philosophers and
mathematicians who came before them and discovered the information. In terms of biblical
integration, I can explain to my students the biblical truths in a way that is applicable to their everyday
lives. Additionally, I will have the understanding that knowledge is not absolute and a continuum of
learning should be taking place at all times. I will always be learning new things and will be able to
implement them into my classroom. c. As a teacher, will you ever consider that what you teach may be
wrong? On what basis will you evaluate the accuracy of what you teach? I will base the accuracy of
the content I teach my students upon the evidence of the accuracy of the material. I will use textbooks
from a reputable source(s), as well as researching the material being taught. Additionally, I will align

The Tax System Of The United States
Taxes are a required aid from individual incomes or business profits collected by the government that
funds certain activities and services is provided by the government for the people. Taxes in the United
States can be originated all the way back to the 1760s. The current tax system the country has is a
progressive tax. A progressive tax is a taxation system where higher incomes get taxed at higher
percentages than those with lower incomes. The tax system that has been proposed that the economy
should switch to is a flat tax. A flat tax is a system where all income would have to pay the same
percentage towards taxes regardless of how much money they make. This has been a major
controversy because of the major impacts switching the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, as income increases, households have more and more income that is not spent on basic
necessities and thus can afford to pay more taxes, unlike those with lower incomes. In other words, a
progressive tax helps the government gain revenue to support its society. As a result of people with
higher incomes paying more money to the government, access money can go to those people who can
t afford to help themselves. In addition, it helps create programs for medical services, fund public
education, housing assistance and other welfare programs. This revenue enhances the opportunities for
its lower and middle class citizens (History and Debate of Progressive Tax). Nonetheless, some
conservatives think that progressive tax is socialist wealth redistribution and state theft because of
what the access revenue is put towards. Conservatives also think that progressive tax is unacceptable
because it creates a sense of class warfare, where the poor and rich don t get along with each other
because of the large gap they have in taxes. They also believe the current progressive system hurts
wealthy business owners because they are the ones who create jobs, therefore they are vital to the
economy and shouldn t have to pay more because of their success. Many liberals still believe that the

Culture And Sensitivity Of Bacteria
Culture and Sensitivity If your patient has an infection of any kind it s critical to know which
antibiotics will be effective against the particular pathogen or disease causing agent. This means that
the species and strain of bacteria, fungus, or other pathogen must be identified and he drugs that will
be the most effective at clearing up the infection must be determined. The only way this can be done is
by running a culture and sensitivity test. Just keep in mind that there are many different types of
culture medias and hundreds of different sensitivity discs that correlate to different drugs. A negative
test on one of these media plates does not meant that there is nothing there. Which is why a lot of
clinics, like our own, run them in house and also send them to a lab such as Idexx to have them run a
more complete test there. A culture is a specific test to find and identify organisms such as bacteria or
fungus, that can cause an infection. A sensitivity test is a specific test that checks the results of a
culture to see what kind of medicine, commonly antibiotics, that will work best to treat those
organisms. A culture is made when a sample is added to a substance, or Media that promotes the
growth of fungus, bacteria, or whatever it is you are looking for. There are different types of media for
different types of tests, but the most common type of plate is called an AGAR plate, which is made up
of a nutrient substance gel derived from algae. Bacteria usually

Sociolinguistic Status Of The Seri Language
Sociolinguistic Status of the Seri Language ROUGH DRAFT
1.0 Introduction
Seri is an indigenous language spoken by less than 1,000 people on the west coast of Sonora, Mexico
(Lewis, Simons, Fennig 2016). The language is generally considered to be an isolate despite former
attempts to include it in the proposed Hokan language family or link it to the now extinct Salinian
language (Campbell, 1997; Marlett, 2007; Marlett, 2008; Marlett, 2011). SIL International has had a
presence within the Seri community since 1951 when Edward and Mary Beck Moser moved to Sonora
to study the nearly unrecorded language ( Edward W. Moser , n.d.). Seri is classified as Vulnerable by
UNESCO (Moseley, 2010) and this paper will argue that historical trauma ... Show more content on

The same year, local hacienda owner and rancher Pascual Encinas drove his cattle into Seri land and
tried to train the Seri to work for him (Sheridan, 2000, p. 112). When this failed, his well armed men
attacked the Seri who were armed only with handcrafted weapons. By 1855, the Seri population had
dropped to a mere 500 (Bowen Moser, 1996). While much has already been lost including the 6 band
structure of the Seri people, cultural knowledge, and at least 2 extinct dialects (Bowen and Moser,
1996; Moser, 1963; Marlett, 2014) much still stands to be lost. The Seri population reached a low of
approximately 200 speakers in the 1950s (Gordon, 2005) and, while population size is not an inherent
signifier of language wellbeing, the small number of speakers puts Seri on a cultural and linguistic
precipice due to the concurrent threat of colonization. The following sections will explore the ongoing
pressures which further jeopardize the sociolinguistic status of the language.
3.0 Economic Wave The Seri are known among local populations for their extended refusal to submit
to colonization. Their fierce opposition to Spanish and, later, Mexican attempts to exterminate or
assimilate their population gained them notoriety as the Savage Seris of Sonora (David and Dawson,
1945). Because of this impressive resistance, the Seri are currently experiencing delayed effects of the
economic wave as described by Nettle and Romaine (2000).

Appropriate Curriculum For Young Children
The debate about appropriate curriculum for young children generally centers on two options: free
play and basic activities vs. straight academics (which is what many kindergartens across the country
have adopted, often reducing or eliminating time for play). A new report, Lively Minds: Distinctions
between academic versus intellectual goals for young children, offers a new way to look at what is
appropriate in early childhood education.
The report was written by Lilian G. Katz, professor emerita of early childhood education at the
University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, where she is on the staff of the Clearinghouse on Early
Education and Parenting. She is past president of the National Association for the Education of Young
Children and the first president of the Illinois Association for the Education of Young Children. Katz
is currently the editor of the online peer reviewed trilingual early childhood journal Early Childhood
Research Practice, and she is the author of more than 100 publications about early childhood
education, teacher education, child development and the parenting of young children.
In her report, published by the nonprofit group Defending the Early Years, Katz says that beyond free
play and academics, another major component of education (indeed for all age groups) must be to
provide a wide range of experiences, opportunities, resources and contexts that will provoke,
stimulate, and support children s innate intellectual dispositions. As

Overcoming Difficulties Associated With Curriculum...
Article Summary
David Virtue, Jennifer Wilson and Nikki Ingram recognize the inherent difficulties associated with
curriculum integration in their article, In Overcoming Obstacles to Curriculum Integration, L.E.S.S.
Can Be More! The authors provide examples of teachers and schools that have found ways to
successfully integrate curriculum, along with examples of ineffective integration.
The system of American education has consisted for decades of courses taught individually, math
taught by a highly qualified math teacher, English Language Arts taught by a highly qualified English
teacher, as with all other subjects. This article suggests that a better approach to learning is to integrate
all subjects into projects and real life problems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Although many schools do not currently use an integrated curriculum model, the authors suggest that
small, incremental steps can change curriculum into a more integrated system. If the administration of
a school attempts to change to an integrated curriculum without a transition period, they will likely
meet resistance from teachers and find little success. But, if the leaders of the school acknowledge the
need for teachers to find ways and have time to make changes and work together, they will likely find
success in changing to curriculum integration.
The speed of the transition will depend on the personalities of the staff. More likely they will try only
a short unit or two their first year, choosing topics that fit most easily with the conventional
curriculum. As they gain confidence and experience working together, effective teams will become
more flexible and enlist more student initiative and responsibility. (Virtue, Wilson, Ingram, 2009)
The authors suggest that, as teachers learn to work cooperatively, they can also involve the community
and use the resources available in the surrounding areas. Teachers will find resources for studies
within the school, also. Social and statistical studies are easily performed with the data collected from
the school population. Individual teachers and teams of teachers can move toward the integrative end
of the continuum by using local, school based resources; by employing emergent curricular designs

Second World War Propaganda Analysis
After being thrust into the Second World War after the attack on Pearl Harbor, a majority of
Americans came together, driven by shock and nationalism. Avenge Pearl Harbor! became a rallying
cry for Americans across the nation. The effort of mobilization encompassed the entire nation; from
big business to private companies to victory gardens, the nation was ready for a two front war, in
terms of machinery and morale. Wartime manufacturing mass produced thousands of aircraft, armored
vehicles, and trucks, along with new inventions such as the radar and early computers. Propaganda,
mostly in the form of posters and political cartoons, sprouted everywhere to incite nationalism and a
sense of duty to Americans. However, for German, Italian, and Japanese Americans, American World
War II propaganda was typically used against them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Americans, the Second World War was a fight for freedom against fascist enemies who could infringe

The Benefits Of Technology
Technology is ever increasing in our society. There seems to be more and more focus on innovation,
learning, and making everything as efficient as possible with the help of technology. Technology is not
only used at home, but practically everywhere. Libraries and schools, in particular, are aiding in the
learning process for many, with the use of technology. While technology holds a plethora of benefits,
there is a rather common debate about if the use of it holds more consequences than benefits for
children. There is a great importance on knowing how much technology is too much, what kind of
content is appropriate or beneficial, and how to protect children from situations that occur in online
platforms, such as cyber bullying.
Our society has made astounding advancements in the world of technology, and as a result it is
becoming increasingly integrated into the daily lives of adults and children alike. Children seem to be
spending less time outdoors and doing other activities than they are on the computer, watching
television, or playing video games. There is a legitimate concern for children who seem to use media
with excess. Adults often wonder, how much is too much. There is differing opinion among many on
the answer. There are benefits and consequences to prolonged media use, that need to be examined in
order to discover and promote a healthy balance.
There can be substantial advantages to incorporating the use of technology into a child s education.

When the news of torture at Abu Ghraib prison broke in early 2004 during the global war on terror,

This was a war for human rights of Iraqi people. Marxist criminology is just one of the criminological
schools. It is very much centered on the work of structural functionalism criminologists and parallels
it very closely on the focus of what produces stability and continuity in society. However, it is
different in the approach in the sense that it looks at a predestined political philosophy. Marxists focus
on why things change and are quick to identify what disrupts life in industrialized nations. They
describe how society is divided up into slices and how slices of the pie include power, wealth,
prestige, and the perceptions of the world. Most theories of crime tend to be ahistorical. They do not
treat the question of how the material conditions of society and crime evolve together as relevant to
the study of crime (Chambliss, 1974, page 25). For Marxists this is a problem because ahistorical
theories fail to link the phenomenon under investigation in this case, crime. Ahistorical theories
attempt to reason that crime occurs outside of social systems and is something that develops on its
own. Two important elements develop

Sociological Aspects Of Social Psychology
Social Psychology
According to Gordon Allport , social psychology is an attempt to understand and explain how the
thought, feeling, and behavior of individuals is influenced by the actual, imagined, or implied
presence of others. (Allport, 1954)
There are two differing branches when referring to social psychology:
1. The sociological aspect of social psychology, which was mainly developed in Europe as a
subdivision of sociology.
2. The psychological aspect of social psychology, which was developed in the US
The differences between the two divisions are, that the sociological way of viewing social psychology
focusses more on group interaction, group processes, while the psychological aspects of social
psychology focusses more on the individual and how the individual is influenced and/or behaves in
social settings.
Sociological social psychology is very theory intensive and constructs itself out of
geisteswissenschaften (sciences of the spirit) and social sciences. Corresponding approaches are i.e.
critical theories, which also include psychoanalytical ideas. Some of the more notable sociological
psychologists include Sigmund Freud, Erich Fromm and Wilhelm Reich.
Coming back to the psychological branch of social psychology, we see its intentions lies in an attempt
to understand and explain how the thought, feelings and behavior of individuals are influenced by the
actual, imagined, or implied presence of others (Allport, The Person in Psychology, 1968)

Essay on The Relationship Change Between Pip and Joe Gargery
How has the relationship changed between Pip and Joe Gargery?
The relationship between Pip and Joe changes dramatically. As Pip gets older and has turned into a
gentleman, Joe has stayed the same, with his clumsy actions and lack of manners. This creates a
divide between what used to be a loving relationship.
When Pip was a small boy, he felt close to Joe, as Joe was like a father figure and Pip looked up to

them closer together. It also shows that there are no complications in their relationship and they find it
easy to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a lot of love when Joe says Ever the best of friends; aint us Pip? . Pip agrees with this by

have a close relationship.
Joe and Pip s relationship is brought closer when Mrs Joe Gargery doesn t want Joe to learn, no
scholars . So when Pip wants to teach
Joe without her finding out, it is like a special secret, that only
Pip and Joe know about. This brings them closer together, as they both share something special.
Joe and Pip are not afraid of showing how close their relationship is.
They do this whilst having dinner. They talk over the table, this shows a strong bond between them. It
is also like a link or a special connection between the two of them.
When Pip has to leave, to go to Miss Havisham s house, he finds it hard to say goodbye to Joe. He has
never parted from Joe before and it is like the strong bond between them suddenly starting to weaken.
As Pip grows older, becoming more of a gentleman, he grows further and further appart from Joe.
This becomes a problem, as they now feel awkward to be in each other s presence.
Joe feels that he has to now ask for permission to see Pip. In the letter from Pip to Joe it says Dear Mr
Pip . This shows that Joe isn t as close to Pip as he used to be, as he now calls him Mr Pip, which is
more formal. Joe also calls himself an affectionate servant . This

What Freud is saying is that satisfying a tamed instinct is artificial, compared to satisfying something that is engrained in our animal nature. The story is interesting by raising questions about what the savage instincts represents to a community that is in the edge of civilization, in a location where nature and society clash. The story in short represents Sigmund Freud s clash of human nature and the animal state (Id), the cultured state (ego) and the self state (superego) and the representation of humanity in a state where there is no discernible difference between humans and beasts. In the end the humans have the potential to be as savage as the wolves in the right circumstances. The circumstances that created this nature of humans as wolves are influenced partly by the location in which the story takes place, the forest. Like the Original Red Riding Hood story the woods are as ominous and threatening to the young female protagonist. Unlike Red Riding Hood though, the story by Angela Carter is much more specific on the wolves and what they represent as symbols of human barbarity. In the story, it is stated that, It is winter and cold weather. In this region of mountain and forest, there is now nothing for the wolves to eat. (Carter,1085). • 4. Essay On The Restoration Period The period from 1660 to 1700 is known as the Restoration period. It was a period when King Charles II of England marked the beginning of a new era both in social life and the literature of England upon his return from exile. He revived a theatrical genre known as Comedies of Manners which was lewd and hilarious. The Way of the world depicts real picture of the restoration period connected to amoral and exploitative manners of the people. Therefore, this essay will be analyzed based on how the play acts as a social mirror of the restoration period in England during Congreve s time. First of all, the play is a dramatic representation of varieties of love that prevailed in England during the restoration period. Marriage was just a mere game of love. • 5. History Of Teacher Observation And Evaluation History of Teacher Observation and Evaluation Initially, education was not recognized as a professional discipline or field of study. Teachers were considered community servants instead of professional educators. Local government officials and members of the clergy were responsible for hiring teachers and making judgments about their teaching abilities. It was believed that clergymen were the best choices for this role due to their extensive levels of education and their alleged ability to guide religious instruction in schools (Tracy, 1995). Individual supervisors or supervisory committees were responsible for overseeing the quality of instruction. These supervisors had nearly unlimited power to establish criteria for effective instruction and to hire and fire teachers (Burke Krey, 2005). Since there was no consensus on the importance or qualifications of educational expertise, the type and quality of feedback that teachers received varied significantly. In the early1800s, more complex school systems began to emerge once the industrial movement emerged. As the schools and districts grew, this created a demand for teachers who had expertise in specific disciplines. Not long thereafter, it became apparent that clergy members did not have the proper training for the role, nor did they have the necessary knowledge to make informed judgments about teacher effectiveness. Rather than simply understanding the mores of the community, the supervisor now needed to have subject ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Given that the employees get paid a certain amount each pay period, it makes it easy for the manager to assume how much of the given budget needs to be used to pay them. But there are some risks that come along with the assumptions such as: annual reviews, and hiring more employees to help the department. The manager will either exceed the budget amount for the month or go under the budget depending on the situation. When preparing a variance report to the vice president, the manager would have to incorporate the reasons as to why the budget is either under or over the budget for the month. Depending on the company the increase could be between 2% all the way up to 10% raise for the current employees. The manager would have to include the reasons as to why the variance amount was high on that month. And if the manager needs a new hire for the department, they would have to get approval from the vice president in order to see if it is in the budget, once they have approved, the manager is able to hire a new employee, and make sure that the new hire gets paid according to what the budget allows them to pay ... In the episode, the characters flout this maxim by using words that others do not know or by using words and phrases which are lexically ambiguous. When characters use words that others do not know, it either ridicules the speaker (because they are unable to communicate with others) or the listener (because they have a lack of knowledge). The tax system that has been proposed that the economy should switch to is a flat tax. A flat tax is a system where all income would have to pay the same percentage towards taxes regardless of how much money they make. Also, as income increases, households have more and more income that is not spent on basic necessities and thus can afford to pay more taxes, unlike those with lower incomes. In other words, a progressive tax helps the government gain revenue to support its society. As a result of people with higher incomes paying more money to the government, access money can go to those people who can t afford to help themselves. In addition, it helps create programs for medical services, fund public education, housing assistance and other welfare programs. This revenue enhances the opportunities for its lower and middle class citizens (History and Debate of Progressive Tax). Nonetheless, some conservatives think that progressive tax is socialist wealth redistribution and state theft because of what the access revenue is put towards. Conservatives also think that progressive tax is unacceptable because it creates a sense of class warfare, where the poor and rich don t get along with each other because of the large gap they have in taxes. They also believe the current progressive system hurts wealthy business owners because they are the ones who create jobs, therefore they are vital to the economy and shouldn t have to pay more because of their success. • 22. Culture And Sensitivity Of Bacteria Culture and Sensitivity If your patient has an infection of any kind it s critical to know which antibiotics will be effective against the particular pathogen or disease causing agent. This means that the species and strain of bacteria, fungus, or other pathogen must be identified and he drugs that will be the most effective at clearing up the infection must be determined. The only way this can be done is by running a culture and sensitivity test. Just keep in mind that there are many different types of culture medias and hundreds of different sensitivity discs that correlate to different drugs. A negative test on one of these media plates does not meant that there is nothing there. Which is why a lot of clinics, like our own, run them in house and also send them to a lab such as Idexx to have them run a more complete test there. A culture is a specific test to find and identify organisms such as bacteria or fungus, that can cause an infection. A sensitivity test is a specific test that checks the results of a culture to see what kind of medicine, commonly antibiotics, that will work best to treat those organisms. A culture is made when a sample is added to a substance, or Media that promotes the growth of fungus, bacteria, or whatever it is you are looking for. • 23. Sociolinguistic Status Of The Seri Language Sociolinguistic Status of the Seri Language ROUGH DRAFT 1.0 Introduction Seri is an indigenous language spoken by less than 1,000 people on the west coast of Sonora, Mexico (Lewis, Simons, Fennig 2016). The language is generally considered to be an isolate despite former attempts to include it in the proposed Hokan language family or link it to the now extinct Salinian language (Campbell, 1997; Marlett, 2007; Marlett, 2008; Marlett, 2011). SIL International has had a presence within the Seri community since 1951 when Edward and Mary Beck Moser moved to Sonora to study the nearly unrecorded language ( Edward W. Moser , n.d.). The same year, local hacienda owner and rancher Pascual Encinas drove his cattle into Seri land and tried to train the Seri to work for him (Sheridan, 2000, p. 112). When this failed, his well armed men attacked the Seri who were armed only with handcrafted weapons. By 1855, the Seri population had dropped to a mere 500 (Bowen Moser, 1996). While much has already been lost including the 6 band structure of the Seri people, cultural knowledge, and at least 2 extinct dialects (Bowen and Moser, 1996; Moser, 1963; Marlett, 2014) much still stands to be lost. The Seri population reached a low of approximately 200 speakers in the 1950s (Gordon, 2005) and, while population size is not an inherent signifier of language wellbeing, the small number of speakers puts Seri on a cultural and linguistic precipice due to the concurrent threat of colonization. The following sections will explore the ongoing pressures which further jeopardize the sociolinguistic status of the language. 3.0 Economic Wave The Seri are known among local populations for their extended refusal to submit to colonization. Their fierce opposition to Spanish and, later, Mexican attempts to exterminate or assimilate their population gained them notoriety as the Savage Seris of Sonora (David and Dawson, 1945). Because of this impressive resistance, the Seri are currently experiencing delayed effects of the economic wave as described by Nettle and Romaine (2000). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Appropriate Curriculum For Young Children The debate about appropriate curriculum for young children generally centers on two options: free play and basic activities vs. straight academics (which is what many kindergartens across the country have adopted, often reducing or eliminating time for play). A new report, Lively Minds: Distinctions between academic versus intellectual goals for young children, offers a new way to look at what is appropriate in early childhood education. The report was written by Lilian G. Katz, professor emerita of early childhood education at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, where she is on the staff of the Clearinghouse on Early Education and Parenting. She is past president of the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the first president of the Illinois Association for the Education of Young Children. Katz is currently the editor of the online peer reviewed trilingual early childhood journal Early Childhood Research Practice, and she is the author of more than 100 publications about early childhood education, teacher education, child development and the parenting of young children. In her report, published by the nonprofit group Defending the Early Years, Katz says that beyond free play and academics, another major component of education (indeed for all age groups) must be to provide a wide range of experiences, opportunities, resources and contexts that will provoke, stimulate, and support children s innate intellectual dispositions. If the administration of a school attempts to change to an integrated curriculum without a transition period, they will likely meet resistance from teachers and find little success. But, if the leaders of the school acknowledge the need for teachers to find ways and have time to make changes and work together, they will likely find success in changing to curriculum integration. The speed of the transition will depend on the personalities of the staff. More likely they will try only a short unit or two their first year, choosing topics that fit most easily with the conventional curriculum. As they gain confidence and experience working together, effective teams will become more flexible and enlist more student initiative and responsibility. (Virtue, Wilson, Ingram, 2009) The authors suggest that, as teachers learn to work cooperatively, they can also involve the community and use the resources available in the surrounding areas. Teachers will find resources for studies within the school, also. Social and statistical studies are easily performed with the data collected from the school population. Individual teachers and teams of teachers can move toward the integrative end of the continuum by using local, school based resources; by employing emergent curricular designs ... Sociological Aspects Of Social Psychology Social Psychology According to Gordon Allport , social psychology is an attempt to understand and explain how the thought, feeling, and behavior of individuals is influenced by the actual, imagined, or implied presence of others. The sociological aspect of social psychology, which was mainly developed in Europe as a subdivision of sociology. 2. The psychological aspect of social psychology, which was developed in the US The differences between the two divisions are, that the sociological way of viewing social psychology focusses more on group interaction, group processes, while the psychological aspects of social psychology focusses more on the individual and how the individual is influenced and/or behaves in social settings. Sociological social psychology is very theory intensive and constructs itself out of geisteswissenschaften (sciences of the spirit) and social sciences.
