Growing up I have developed interests and abilities that continue to provide me
endless satisfaction and joy: literature, creative writing, friends, and art. These things

Ceramics is one of my true passions. It began when I was very young and continued
through a 5 week summer program at Choate in 2016, and now at Fay as my favored
art class. At Choate, I advanced significantly in ceramics, learning and developing
new clay and glazing techniques. One of the methods I created was a marbling
technique which impressed my fellow students and was used by upper classmates
for the rest of the summer. In my present ceramics class at Fay, I have worked hard
on hand building pieces, whistles, and using slabs to create boxes, vases, and tea
sets. I am hoping to get onto the Varsity Art team next year. Varsity Art is a ninth
grade art class where advanced art students are placed together to work and learn new

conflicted by reality. Their reality is that they are married to other people. The love
that they share for one another represents the struggle that one may face wanting
to break away from reality. Dmitri was a man who had been unfaithful to his wife
quite often. Her imperfections seemed to be his only reasoning for this. Dmitri
was most likely only in Yalta to look for a new woman to have an affair with.
Considering this, being with Anna didn t bother him. He was introduced in the
story as a rather selfish man who seemed to just have his way with Anna. He
referred to women as an inferior race , due to his past experience. Anna, on the other
hand, was new to the idea of being unfaithful to her husband. This scared her so even
though she knew that she loved Dmitri, she convinced herself that it was not real love
that they shared. Throughout the story, both Anna and Dmitri changed the way they
felt about their lives. Dmitri seemed to have had a very superficial relationship with
his wife, and this made him appreciate his relationship with Anna even more. Once
he spots her, the scenery in the story begins to shape. It is full of beautiful colors and
light. The more exciting his life became in Yalta with Anna, the more dull and
uninteresting his life back home became. His thoughts portray to the reader that he
